NFL Season Kickoff Excitement
00:00:39
Speaker
goingin on what's going on's going on nfl season is bad Yes NFL season is back we call it a game of inches for a reason that reason was on full display last night we got to talk all about the kickoff game we're gonna talk about a little bit of the preview of the Brazil first Friday game, which is tonight as we look forward and also all the games this Sunday.
Chiefs vs Ravens Breakdown
00:01:02
Speaker
But Jared, let's start with last night's game, Kansas City versus Baltimore, the opener. She's ran another banner. ah na na The biggest story of that game of, I'm probably willing to bet it's going to be the story of week one. When we look back at it is the Isaiah likely
00:01:24
Speaker
Joe on the line, back in the end zone. His KD foot on the line moment. And it cost his team in week one. Jared, talk to me about what you saw in that game last night. Luckily, it was week one. The first thing I saw um on both sides, you could tell it was like it's week one, right? You could tell a lot of lot of glitches, a lot of plays that they just weren't ready for yet, plays that they're running and that they were like, oh, man,
00:01:53
Speaker
guys that didn't get involved right away. Loved how Xavier Worthy played. Lamar looked good. I think they're still working out the kinks of their run game, knowing that they got new players at the guard position. Staley's back to start the season, which is nice to see. And then I don't really know how the Ravens are going to be utilizing Mark Andrews, but he was a non-factor in this game completely.
00:02:17
Speaker
But then again, I guess you could kind of say on the other side, Kelsey wasn't that big of a target this first game because you just saw the excellent play from Rashi Rice and Xavier Worry that you kind of didn't have to over target Travis Kelsey. I always played a good football game besides that one interception by a lot of people's favorites for defensive play of the year and Roquan Smith. And then if that foot centimeters away,
00:02:44
Speaker
Didn't count. I think this game would be, and day it would have been a different conversation. I think the games went with the Raymond's way. Yeah, you could say that. I mean, obviously with the likely foot on the, on the back of the end zone, that would have tied the game center to overtime, but Lamar must two wide open throws twice. Yeah. He missed. Well, he missed flowers in the back of the end zone. He said he was going for Bateman, whatever he missed and he missed likely on the first, uh, cut route, you know, left route on the back of the end zone where he likely came down the side like he was hurting him. But the struggles of the Baltimore Ravens, again, have to go on the quarterback for not making the, that's ah that's a throw you expect your franchise two-time MVP quarterback to make.
Baltimore's Performance Critiques
00:03:30
Speaker
The fact that he didn't do it is just like an indictment on Lamar. Overall, you know, whatever, I think he's still, he's still who he is, right?
00:03:39
Speaker
yeah But where was Mark Andrews? Where was where was Derek Henry and in stretches of the game? Why you got Justice Hill out there blocking Chris Jones twice on one-on-one pass protection? What are we doing here?
00:03:58
Speaker
and What are we doing? I think that Mark Andrews being a non-facto is the biggest thing, to be honest. um He was utilized in like a fullback at certain plays Almost every snap he took was sizes alone catch which was also would have been as one of two targets of the game because the first catching target that he had was called back because of another bigger issue that I saw in that game for the Ravens. They got penalized for almost never lining up at the proper spot. It wasn't just the first time or the second time. It was almost like I think four to five times throughout the game, which penalized them, cost them five yards or cost them a play that was progression yards. So I think like they had a lot of they got a lot of kinks to work out. It's only week one, but you were I would expect them to come into this game
00:04:46
Speaker
playing a little bit better, especially, or just utilizing their guys better, knowing that this is a big matchup for you after the championship game last season.
00:04:57
Speaker
Yeah, but the thing with this last season, we're talking about this game last night, and you still see some of the same issues that Baltimore has been plagued with seemingly for years now on display again last night. Offensive line isn't great. How many times did Ronnie Stanley get called for a legal formation?
00:05:17
Speaker
Yeah. How many times did he call for illegal formation on on like to open and drive? It was like three, it was like three times on open and drop. Why, are why is, why are things like this not being cleaned up in preseason in practice? Ronnie Stanley at one point in time is, was considered a top level guard is still considered a top level tackle. I'm sorry. In the NFL. You tell me he doesn't know where to line up.
00:05:43
Speaker
like what What are we doing here? Baltimore had dumb penalties. The Mahomes, out of bounds, late hit, dumb penalty. Baltimore beat themselves last night. Kansas City didn't necessarily beat the Ravens. Baltimore beat themselves again. So at a certain point, like conversations like this is going to start. You're going to stop blaming the players, the Lamars, the Ronnie Stanleys, whoever.
00:06:13
Speaker
You're going to stop blaming the coordinators at a certain point. And you have to look at the guy who's been heading the ship for 17 years. And you're telling me that John Harbaugh, coach team can't line up properly, makes dumb mistakes. Hey, come on, man. That doesn't, that shouldn't, that shouldn't be happening. I think the conversation is already there.
00:06:32
Speaker
I think when you and I both will probably, or more than likely add him in our coaches' hot seat conversation, depending on how they seem to go off. If they put up this slot for the rest of the year. Yeah. he'll He's up there. but That's not, what i the things that happened last night for Baltimore are fundamental things, dumb fundamental things. That should be, why are we talking about, you don't know where to line up.
00:07:03
Speaker
Why are we having 15 yard late hit penalties at crucial points of the game? and What are we doing? and' be as that's um Small play still could have mattered. The fourth and three, I believe. Nels Agor missed his block. If he blocked, they might have got the first of more. It's the little things that in this game. Why are you throwing the ball behind the line on all fourth and three? That's the play call. The only man in motion. That's the question.
00:07:34
Speaker
why If you want to throw the ball on fourth down, why would you not throw the ball up past the sticks?
00:07:43
Speaker
i think wow she knows it was we And I get that Baltimore's defense. Baltimore's defense didn't turn around and help Kansas City to the field. No. Which form down you talking about? I was looking at one where he threw the real route. He's yelling at now Snaggle on the side.
00:08:01
Speaker
Because, I guess, like, what he would you literally missed is a sidewalk. He went to go to the middle of the field as if he was running us inside cross or slant. You could see the play as miles there. Are you talking about the one where he threw the flowers in the flat? No, yeah we're talking about two different ones. I was talking about Hill. Or it may have been Hill. I think it was Justice Hill. It was fourth down and threw the ball basically parallel to the line of scrimmage.
00:08:29
Speaker
Yeah, and they got attacked like it was a bad so multiple bad calls. But about a top bunking who's Baltimore's offensive coordinator. So where do we what? What did we learn from this game?
Chiefs' Offensive Analysis
00:08:46
Speaker
Chiefs still have a good de defense despite the suppose the supposed losses they took in the offseason. The offense is still going to be top five.
00:08:54
Speaker
Especially if worthy is going to play like this, his speed matters. It was effective. And where she writes has clearly cemented himself. Number one, our receiver, you've got a one, two punch right there. You can still insert in Travis Kelsey at any point in time. And then you talk about how would Brown might be coming back sooner than later. Like, you know, I think he's only going to be out for the next three weeks. The chiefs are yet again, a top five offensive team.
00:09:29
Speaker
Ah, that offense. I mean, you had a couple of good plays, but... Top five? They'll be top five. Like, okay, they'll be top five because of my home, sure. That's literally the person that keeps the shit going. But we watched that. It wasn't like they were just going up and down the field at will as much as people wanted you to believe. They struggled at times. They struggled in the red zone. They didn't, you know, there was plenty of times where they could have put touchdowns on the board and they settle for field goals. There was times last year where they were in the same predicament where they couldn't get the ball down the field in chunk plays. Now we'll see what Xavier Worthy brings throughout the year. You know, he had some some great flashy moments, had the touchdowns. Rashi Rice, you know, made up made a couple of appearances. Pacheco held a study on the run game.
00:10:25
Speaker
But it wasn't like this is not the same Chiefs team that we saw 2019, 2018, you know, when they were just lighting everybody up. I think it's a concentrate. I don't, you know, they'll be top five, but I don't know if they'll be heading shoulders above the rest of the field like they had been in their previous iterations. I think that's a little bit too, too optimistic. Listen, if they offense is propelled like this last night where, yeah,
00:10:53
Speaker
They were stagnant at some point, but when they were hitting on all sides, I watched an inside zone run play with Xavier Worthy. He took off, nobody on that field would catch him. Same with the deep ball that he caught. I mean, yeah, it's an end of the round. And yeah, but the that's on the one in the defense. That's an end of the round, basically. You see, and you say, Rush, you guys had a couple of targets, man, 107 yards. Maybe they were quiet 107.
00:11:17
Speaker
But you stood at 107 yards. Every time he caught the ball, he's like, dang, he ain't dropped nothing yet. How many catches did he have last night? Seven, I think. Average 14, yeah. Average 14 in something yards per catch. Seven catches, I think, is all he had for 107 yards. You say, oh, it's not a good amount. Seven catches is a good amount. But if you think about it in hindsight, he had 107. It was a quiet 107. I don't think it was that loud.
00:11:47
Speaker
I guess, ah but it's probably because it was overshadowed by how well x Xavier Raven was played throughout the game when utilized, right? like i think I think it's overshadowed because Worthy's was pretty like, it was kind of electric plays, you know? like Both were, yes. And then it's like the Ravens have nobody fast enough to catch up to him when he was out there. um I mean, Worthy is pretty much faster than 95%, probably 95% of Earth, OK? Like, probably 95% of people are Earth.
00:12:13
Speaker
So I just got them back top five again. Yeah, they were stagnant, but their stagnancy just came from a lot of just the offensive line still has, they got to like work on that. And again, it's not like they don't have the same awful line. It's just. Part of it is you have to give credit to seven catch. I'm sorry for Rashid, right? Seven catches, 103 yards. But to say that he's not,
00:12:40
Speaker
They say that their off offensive line needs work. I think it's a bit much. Their offensive line did well. They have a rookie left tackle. They still, that you know, Joanne Taylor who led the league in penalties last year. He's still starting off strong. He's whatever you want. You want to talk like we talked about Ronnie Stanley on and Baltimore's and not enough. You know, lining up wrong. Yeah. This whole thing started. From.
00:13:10
Speaker
Juwan Taylor last year, who it seemed like he was getting, he was getting a ah great, a great jump every play. And people was like, this is Paul, this is Paul starting and he's doing it. So
Eagles vs Packers Preview
00:13:24
Speaker
you have these people who have these, these feelings about the chiefs get favoritism, the spagnolo calling the timeout instead of read, you know, there's, there, where I hate saying where there's smoke, there's fire to this kind of a thing. Cause it's like,
00:13:40
Speaker
Do you really think that that the refs are in the choose pockets? student But, you know, like I ain't go real, you know, like you know how it is like, okay, yeah, I'm supposed to enforce this rule.
00:13:55
Speaker
but What's the actual rule, though? I know they're not supposed to call timeout, but what's the penalty for it? if a it is I think I'm not an NFL rules expert, but I would assume it would still be it would be similar to the excessive timeout code, where you get penalized. It's a five-year penalty, but you're not supposed to be a you're not supposed to be awarded the timeout. Yeah.
00:14:22
Speaker
I've never actually seen that. gonna say I've never actually seen it where they say it's the coach gets a timeout call. going through So this is my first time I've ever seen because it. Because it's not supposed to happen. Yeah, literally. That's why I was like, I don't i have no idea like what but would what where would i have changed in the game for the Ravens at that point as well. like What would have changed? it's it's not even it's It's more so Kansas City being able to to stop what, you know, see whatever the Spaniards saw yeah that he freaked out and they had the cold timeout.
00:14:52
Speaker
you know, unless he said what he saw, I don't think... Was that the same drive where they missed the first field goal, the Ravens? No. Thanks. I'm wondering what was that like, if he would have guessed that's five yards, do we still believe the Ravens would have scored? I'm just now like, hi, bye. I mean, Tucker barely missed that field goal. Yeah. Maybe, but I don't think it was the same drive.
00:15:21
Speaker
okay All right, Jared, let's preview tonight's Eagles Packers game in Brazil. Apparently, the place is a dump. At least that's what Twitter is saying. Oh, my gosh. You're back on Twitter. You're a turd. Twitter is saying that the place is a dump. But Jared, talk to me about what you're looking forward to seeing in this game. I'm not even going to ask you for a prediction, because I already know. Oh, yeah. Come on. I already know. You're not biased.
00:15:53
Speaker
Okay, so you're you or you say you you wish your petitions the other way? Go ahead, go first. What's your prediction? Do you see the color of my shirt? Then I feel like you what you threw out there was uncalled for slander. But no, you you everything rosy in your land. I'll see in court. Go to hell, anyway.
00:16:15
Speaker
everything rosy on your end and I tell it like it is, I get called an hater. Sure you do. Okay, sure. What have I, what have I, what have I, I was on the spot last year sounding the concern about the Eagles. Nobody wanted to listen to me until it was cool to trash the Eagles. Nobody listened to me.
00:16:39
Speaker
man, you was in the same boat with the rest of us. You just had to throw out your voice and reason at one point in frame and then all of a sudden, I'm not biased anymore. Oh, I admit my biases. That's the difference. You don't admit your biases. Dude, I literally swear upon Philadelphia sports. Yeah, but as you question if I ask you a question that you know that requires you to be a little tiny bit critical of your guys. I'm always critical.
00:17:10
Speaker
please i could I was more critical of business than you were. Okay. Tobias Harris as well. What the hell? OK. It took you a while to come around today. You suck, Stray. It took you a while. I knew to buy. I didn't. I knew to buy this wasn't a game changer when they traded for him from the Clippers. But that's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an argument. That's not an
00:17:42
Speaker
bigger mismanagement of money in my life but back to the topic i hand jerry
00:17:48
Speaker
The Eagles have not won a game since they beat Buffalo in the rain. In overtime. That was what November? Yeah, I think like before Thanksgiving too. OK, before Thanksgiving. Yeah. So they haven't won a game in a very long time. They lost 600 last seven, including losing to Tampa in the wild card game. Rough. Do they win this game?
00:18:17
Speaker
And how, if so, do they win this game? Yes, I think they win this game. Of course they do. All the cars are stacked against them. like The media is going packers, packers, packers. The Jordan Love hype is real. The media is so in love with the packers. Yeah. Well, the media hype is real around the packers and only the packers. They have us strictly losing it. They've already called us cowards for not wearing green is some of the things that I've seen on Twitter because the packers are still wearing their green in their jersey. But I digress on that.
00:18:47
Speaker
it's The Jordan love shows everybody's like right now predicting again I think he's also gonna have a very good year as well after what he showcased last season But that means they the Eagles talk has died down They now believe we're just inept of going back to a championship or they don't believe in Joe hurts as a quarterback And then this goes into my point of how I think the Eagles win is because of now, office coordinator Kellen Moore in June hurts. I know last year we were heavily scrutinized and talked about with the tush push. I think that's going to get pushed down a little bit. I think that play is not going to be utilized as heavily because of the addition of Saquon Barkley.
00:19:21
Speaker
Our raw receiver core is arguably top 10, if not top five in NFL right now with the addition of Johan Dotson to an AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. I think we're going to see a heavily utilized passing game in this Kelmore system with Joe in Hurts, more than what we saw in his potential MVP campaign year. And that's how I think we beat the Packers. If we if this game turns into what I think it it was going to be, which is an overgun or an over game compared to like the Ravens of Chiefs, I thought was going to be an under game.
00:19:49
Speaker
So a lot of people would say a lot of people are saying that this is going to be the shootout. This is going to be a shootout. Yeah. I think that you have to see what Philadelphia's defense looks like. Because we know the offense will at least, even when they sucked last year, the offense at least could get the ball up and down the field for the most part. For the most part. Yeah.
00:20:18
Speaker
Talent, talent, you know, kind of dragged them much longer. I think having Kevin Moore in there, having Sirianni, you know, get the hell out, go, you know, go do some raw, raw speeches, having Vic Vangio back there, having the ex, you know, the the secondary be addressed. That was Philadelphia's, you know, weakest point, was they just got diced up in the secondary. you Every time. Every time they just got diced up in the secondary.
00:20:47
Speaker
So will the secondary look better with CJ Gardner Johnson back with the addition of quinine Mitchell Cooper the gene when you have. of Vic Vangio back there calling plays and mixing matchups. And it's going to be all, as you know, all the other stuff is nice, but are the defensive line going to be able to create pressure? Is the offensive line going to be able to hold up and withstand the pressure? That's where the Eagles win their games at. That's where most football games in general are won at, in the trenches. How, you know, how big is, is is you know, Jason Kelsey's absence going to be? Is Cam Juergens ready? Because Cam Juergens is starting tonight, not kicking out Jason Kelsey.
00:21:28
Speaker
Is, you know, Jalen Carter, with the combination of of Jordan Davis, is that able to to match up and to mask the absence of Fletcher Cox, who's not going to be there? You know, this is the, I read somewhere, I read on Twitter, it's the first game since January of 2011. No Kelsey, no Cox. 2011. 13 years later.
00:21:52
Speaker
We sit here and we talk about Green Bay and what we saw from them after Thanksgiving, after the time they went into Detroit and won on Thanksgiving Day and the emergence of Jordan Love and the Cowboys game really, really showed people that this Green Bay team is legitimate. I knew this Green Bay team was legitimate.
00:22:15
Speaker
before the Cowboys game it confirmed it in the Cowboys game and I knew it for sure in that San Francisco game because they had San Francisco on the ropes. Without a doubt they had San Francisco on the ropes and we were looking at a Green Bay Detroit NFC Championship game. We were looking at it. It was possible. So I'm not saying that this Green Bay team isn't good. I'm saying Let's not discredit a team in Philadelphia who's been to the playoffs each of the last three years, who went to the Super Bowl two years ago as an NFC representative. They still have most of their offensive core intact, Hertz, AJ, Devontae, and Saquon Barkley. You know, it's not like Saquon's a slouch. I'm not, you know, we maybe maybe he isn't.
00:23:09
Speaker
He isn't this generational running back he was supposed to be when he got drafted by the Giants. He didn't do that. He didn't change like she and changed life in New York. But that's a lot to do with New York's inability to put a competent anything around.
00:23:26
Speaker
Yeah. But let's see what Saquon can do when this offense was with Kevin Moore. Let's see how he looks with Jalen. Let's see how Jalen hurts books, throwing the ball, passing, you know, running the ah offense without Kelsey there. Is he making the correct checks? If he gets blitzed, how does he respond? These are the things that are going to win the Eagles the game. Not, you know, and maybe they could be, you know, maybe they could be Jordan Love. and and Jordan love george Love is a good quarterback.
00:23:57
Speaker
Green Bay has a good, good core of of receivers. They ain't got the, you know, like I see these like, who's, who's offense would you rather have? Let's, let's be real. Okay. yeah yeah Let's not kid ourselves. Ladies and gentlemen, Romeo Dobbs. see Christian Watson. Cool. Jake Reed. Cool. Luke Musgrave. Cool. Josh Jacobs. Cool.
00:24:27
Speaker
Well, all right, I I ain't saying he's ass. I say he's cool. Jordan Love, Kool. But let's be real. Let's be cool. Let's be cool. If you want to say the floor better than Sirianni, Kool, I ain't going to argue that. I think that's fair. Yeah, I'm going to argue that.
00:24:54
Speaker
but Come on now, like let's let's pop the brakes on this green Bayness. Let's pop the brakes. Are they even better than Detroit? Are they better than Detroit? They can be. I didn't ask you, could they be? Obviously, they could be. Are they? I'm taking them right now. I'm right. I told you. You're taking them over to Detroit right now. I told already i told you. before in the we sea I'm taking the Packers over to Detroit. I really am.
00:25:21
Speaker
man you be I really am though. So that's like you sound like that he me 76 fellow, but I already had. We already had this conversation. I'm taking the Packers over the. Rise this year. I do think. For me as well, the Eagles defense. Scary for me, I'm very excited to watch the Eagles defense, right right? It's really revamped. It's got a lot younger, excited for the defense.
00:25:47
Speaker
But when i when it comes to talking about the defense in terms of how great they are or how good they are right now, there's not a legitimate case to make for that. like they They have some players that I really like, one is which is already out for this first game, which is a Devin White. I like Devin White, the addition of him, because he's a past he can play in the past coverage better than the Kobe D in the end, and he can really lead and fortify that middle in the defense. Without him, you're now running what? i believe Dean's gonna be your mic and then Braun is now your will, or they might say flip it, because one's better in pass covers than the other, as I just mentioned. Defensive line that Chris mentioned, it's it nice name wise. It has some holes though, we think about just production from last season. Sweats production went down. Jordan Davis, we thought was gonna be our our higher top tier talent. He still has that in him, he just hasn't shown it. And John Carter was good, very good last season. But now how does he translate into this next year? And then just brought in a guy in Huff,
00:26:40
Speaker
who's never actually been a starter in the NFL. Yes, he had a great sack season last year at 11. That's in his limited snaps off the bench. But now in a starting role, it's different. It's different when you have fresh legs coming off the bench to now you're starting throughout the season as they started to get sacks, get paid the money, or receive the money that you just got paid to do your job. David has a lot of holes. Isaiah Rodgers in Miami may not be starting secondary this game. No James Bradbury, but we kept him anyway.
00:27:08
Speaker
And I think they're going to say use them in the safety utility role, but he definitely can't be outside anymore. So there's a lot of questions. for is definitely Yeah, I know he's hurt too, but <unk> you kept him to utilize him. He a quote unquote hurt. He doesn't utilize them. And when he does get back, he still will be back on the sideline and getting used. yeah yeah he utilizes him my right He is the ah assistant on the field defensive back coach. Yeah. It's like, it's not a question mark from me right now in the defense, which.
00:27:34
Speaker
that's what the Panthers can really utilize their advantage, especially if Jordan loves coming and playing like he played last season where he was just ripping through defenses. As Chris mentioned, when he once talked about them before the Dallas game, he was like, yeah, Jordan Wells has been killing it. I think he just let it, he let us know, like just run random day. He was like, Jordan Wells is killing it. We were like, what are we talking about? And he said, just in the, yeah, Curry, I think he was arguing about it one time.
00:28:01
Speaker
just and So two what happened was we went to the Pittsburgh Green Bay game. We watched the game. Pittsburgh won the game. But love looked good. love but like Whatever the numbers say, whatever out the game went, with our own eyes, me and him, me and him, and our favorite mailman, we all watched it and saw it. It came to the same conclusion that love was actually good.
00:28:31
Speaker
Now, I argue that love is he has Rogers mannerisms, some of the mechanical things, whatever, but he has far as brain, if that makes any sense. Like, you know how far we've always made that he know he could fit that throw in
Jordan Love's Playing Style
00:28:51
Speaker
there. He's not supposed to make that throw. You don't make that throw.
00:28:55
Speaker
But if it do work out, it's going to be something good. High risk, high reward, no risk it, no biscuit, whatever you want to call it, gunslinger, whatever. That's who love plays on the field. He's got Rodgers' kind of mannerisms. You can see a little bit of them. You definitely see the Rodgers influence on Jordan Love. But he's definitely got Farrah's brain sometimes, where it's kind of like, yo, why'd you make that front? Sometimes it works out for Farrah. It worked out.
00:29:24
Speaker
Sometimes it's like, yo, why did you make that throw? So there is going to be some maddening moments with love, unless he you know kind of phases more of that out as he gets more experience. But we'll see if for now. I think he's good. Is he highest paid quarterback in the league? Good? No. No, no, no. What? Is he good? Yeah, he's good.
00:29:53
Speaker
Fair. I still have the Eagles winning. Very fair. Oh, so Go birds. Go birds. I feel like we can't end this little segment or it makes it look like the Packers. No, no, no, no. I respect the Packers. Yeah. I respect them. Just understand I have a 30-24 game in mind. It's a bit much for me as far as crowning them. If you want to crown them, then crown their ass. Word to Denny Green. But they are who we thought they were.
00:30:24
Speaker
I hope that doesn't come back to bite me. It probably is. All right, Jared, let's move on. Give a quick prediction for the rest of the games this week. Come on now. Week one, we've already both picked the Eagles to win tonight, 8.15, as we record on Friday night in Brazil.
Week One NFL Predictions
00:30:43
Speaker
Jared, we start with the 1 o'clock absolute terrible Carolina Panthers.
00:30:52
Speaker
taking on another absolutely terrible team, the New Orleans Saints. Jared, who do you have? In Division Master, is it it's not crazy to me. I have the Panthers winning. It's not crazy. I have the Panthers winning. It's really not crazy to me. I have the Panthers winning. I think the addition of Deontay Johnson helps improve Bryce young immensely. And then I think a matchup right now where a year in confidence is a little bit higher play styles now. cause He god knows understands how to play the NFL. He's going to outpace Derek Carr, who I think is like, Derek Carr is I think pretty much washed to me at this point. Everybody loses in that game, but I think I will take Caroline. I'm sorry, New Orleans in that game.
00:31:39
Speaker
carolina doing go team They're traveling to New Orleans. New Orleans is the game plan, and we'll see how Bryce Young looks. I'm not the biggest Bryce Young fan. Bryce Young isn't. We know. Quarterback in into the league, we all know. But can Carolina create a game plan that helps accentuate Bryce Young's strengths? Do they get them out the pocket more? Do they get more screens, more checks? How do we get Bryce Young going? Because is it fair to completely call him a bust? Probably not.
00:32:10
Speaker
But if it's if we're going in the year, too, and he still can't you know and put all new coaches around him again, all new things around him again, and we still see no progress, nothing moving forward, the question the question marks are just going to get bigger and louder. And people want to say, like, oh, they, I mean, it already looks bad what they gave up to get Bryce Young at this point. Like, it looks better. So yeah they better, for their sake, I hope they turn around.
00:32:39
Speaker
Bear is still holding their second round of pick. Your height is always shows. We understand how it comes with you in quarterbacks. OK, OK, OK, OK. Jared, I'm 6'1", maybe, right? I'm 6'1". It's not like I can go play center in the NBA. You're about 6'2". You're a little taller than that now. That's OK. You try, Dad. You're a tall individual. Whatever. My point is, I can't go play center in the NBA, right?
00:33:07
Speaker
He's a five foot six quarterback. What are we doing here? It's a little too short now. short now. I was about four, three points. little well short He ain't looking over the whole lot at all with that type of height. i see that's all and now Listen, listen, listen. All right now. It was okay. We'll see in week one. um got the page eight number eight I got I got the Saints. Either way, American losers. Next game.
00:33:35
Speaker
Just as spectacular, the Minnesota Vikings travel to MetLife to take on the New York football giants.
Vikings vs Giants Preview
00:33:44
Speaker
Jared, it's Sam Darnell versus Daniel Jones. Yeah.
00:33:51
Speaker
got Daniel Jones, that's so nasty to say. But I really have the drives with it. Again, any team, I was about to say school, but any team, with Sam Darnold as the starting quarterback of your team, I have no faith in. Just like if Zach Wuss was on the other end, I have no faith in. So I got Daniel Jones, Malik Nabors. They got Devin Singletary now. That's a step down, to be honest, from Saquon Barkley. But he still had a phenomenal season last year. It is on the right.
00:34:19
Speaker
I like the more than Sam Darnell with Justin Jefferson and Aaron Jones, only because I just don't think Sam Darnell is going to have that much of had that of a game. I know they've been trying to prop him up. Justin Jefferson is all right. It's been a leader. It's saying he's like what he's seen from Sam Darnell. I just don't have that much faith in him as they do. The fact that you have more faith in Daniel Jones is hilarious to me. I don't think I have more faith in Daniel Jones than Tim Darnell.
00:34:46
Speaker
sam darn for as bad as you want to say he is. And he was bad. Was? I mean, as a full-time starter, he was bad. I'm really sure you would just say as a player. He's got Justin Severson on his team. Fair. The New York Giants. You got Malik Nabors. Malik Nabors going to prove it. New York Giants, they got to prove it.
00:35:14
Speaker
At least with Minnesota, you get the better villain of the doubt. They had it off here. Douglas gets hurt. Addison gets hurt. Jefferson gets hurt. ah Madison gets hurt. you know the Team got hurt. The Giants just stunk. As much as I criticize bad quarterbacks on this pod, Daniel Jones is a bad quarterback. B-A-D, bad.
00:35:44
Speaker
b a He is so bad that if he yeah was a couple shades darker, he could be the backup on the Princeburg students. He's that bad. Wow. Wow. Wow.
00:35:58
Speaker
wow Wow. So who do you got? I got Minnesota. They got Jefferson. All right. Listen, it might be that like that meme where you see that the Ferrari outside of the abandoned millennium. But they got the Ferrari, OK? They got it. You can sleep in the car if you got to. At least you're sleeping in and in the Ferrari. ah You know what the Giants got? They got the minivan.
00:36:31
Speaker
Let's be real, it's a Prius. Let's be real. The minivan don't move, it don't get above 30 miles per hour. God forbid you try and get through the other way. You can't do it. You can't do it. It's a pickup truck. Get out of here. And not even in Brooklyn. Give me the next game. You sure you want the next game, Jerry? Hurry up. Well, the whole 10 o'clock, I'm sorry, 1 o'clock sleet is pretty bad. Terrible.
00:36:55
Speaker
The next game is you have to be looking forward to. It's so bad, I can't even speak. The New england England Patriots, who may be the worst team in football, arguably, finally have to pay their due after selling their soul for 25 years.
00:37:14
Speaker
It is time to collect as they travel to Cincinnati, who has yet to pay Jamar Chase, who is listed as a game time decision.
Patriots vs Bengals Analysis
00:37:24
Speaker
T Higgins also listed as a game time decision with a tweaked hamstring injury. Jared, we may be looking at wide receiver one, Andre Yoshivas.
00:37:37
Speaker
But do the Cincinnati Bengals win at home against New England?
00:37:45
Speaker
I still have the Bengals winning. Oh, no, they're, uh, game time decision. I believe Ting is going to play. Joe Burrow's a vastly better quarterback than anybody at the Patriots have right now. I do. I drink may, but he's not playing as percent. And you're right. This game's pretty terrible. Maybe not for Bengals fans who gets to watch a high octane offensive. Both of their receivers do play, but in any other hindsight is trash.
00:38:11
Speaker
If Cincinnati loses this game, we got to have a serious talk. Yeah. We got to have a serious talk. I think about borough and about the head coaching, about it a lot of things, we have to. GM two is everything it If Cincinnati loses this game, you know who wins? Jamar Chase. Easily.
00:38:32
Speaker
Jamar Chait, the England, wouldn't be able to drive fast enough on that contract. Honestly, Higgins too, because remember, Higgins is still like, needs the contract extension as well, but I guess he'll be like, going to free agency, but he still needs his money. This team is shambles if they lose to the Patriots. We're going to see. Jared, another game that you're going to wake up bright and early to be watching. The Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. I'm actually going to watch. Jared, who you got?
Steelers vs Falcons and Other Previews
00:38:58
Speaker
I got the Falcons. It was a 50-50 coin flip for me at first. How? Because honestly, honestly, I feel like I'm winning. No jokes. All right. i know I know I joke a lot about Fields and Pittsburgh. what No joke. How was this either, folks?
00:39:16
Speaker
Because I honestly thought Tom was going to make the right decision and start feeling over Russ. Russ didn't look good to me, where Fields had his moments, his splashes. You're a Fields hater. So obviously, you're you're probably shocked by the fact that I think Fields would have had a better, at least a good game one with my Tom winning the Steelers against the Falcons. The Falcons are just getting back. Kirk Cousins has been injured for almost eight months. Listen, now I don't know how that offense really looks yet.
00:39:41
Speaker
jarret I watched this team last year in Atlanta. Run the ball, Bijon's ground. Intently, I watched this, Atlanta's Falcons team. They had the single worst quarterback play I have ever seen with my own two eyes. I know, you was pretty good boy. And that team won seven games.
00:40:04
Speaker
You're telling me if they got Kirk, I don't care if Kirk Cousins can't move, walk, as long as he can throw, that team can be a force. Oh, I have the Falcons winning. I have the Falcons doing very well in the division as well. The Falcons have better offensive weapons than Pittsburgh. Their defensive weapons are maybe on par with Pittsburgh, especially if they've just acquired Matthew Judon. So they have the pass rush. They got Jesse Bates in the secondary, AJ Terrell. They got the pieces.
00:40:33
Speaker
Can they put it all together? I believe i believe that they can be a 10-win team. 10-11 win team. I think they can win the division. I think they can win the division. But how? Pittsburgh, man. Come on, man. Come on. Stop. Stop it. Stop it. I think that this team is going to be very well. And it's not even about Russ. Like, yeah, will Russ be better than Kenny Pickett? No. Who knows? Will Fields be better than Kenny Pickett? Who knows? Yeah.
00:41:02
Speaker
But the team, the team as a whole is at, that's the big, that's the biggest takeaway. The team is at. I always liked to steal a defense. I'm always with my Tomlin. Listen, I think, but I think the five was going to win. All right. Let me, let me add this right here. Stevens aren't winning more than eight games. So that, that 500 streak is over.
00:41:26
Speaker
Oh. Oh, you're fine. You're fine marketing it down. You don't want to throw that out there last year. Done, done, done. Let's see. Let's see. Mike Common proves you wrong yet again. Let's see. If he proves you wrong, good for him. I'll tip my hat. But I don't see it. I think. Prove this. Prove it. Without Arthur Smith, Chris, the Falcons already shot up for me in the standings and in the division. And guess who where Arthur Smith is? Pittsburgh. Yeah, and they're there.
00:41:54
Speaker
He yeah that you used to deal with slop. If he, if the stimulus offense is like a seven win value, Mike Tomlin, okay, maybe they, maybe they win nine games. Maybe they can pull a rabbit out the head, but this won't be a, oh, oh um it's going to be one of them. I got Mike Tomlin yet again, doing what they do and winning. If Mike Tomlin was doing nine games with this team,
00:42:22
Speaker
I'd vote for him for Coach of the Year. Speaking of a guy who could have won Coach of the Year, D'Amico Ryans in the Houston Texans traveled to Indianapolis to take on the Colts. Jared, who you got? This one's easy out of Texans. Oh, this is another one I'm going to watch. This is probably another one I'll have to tune in for. I said at the same time, well you just flip back and forth. they they all they are These are all four o'clock. 10 o'clock. 10 o'clock. I'll flip right before. I think this is going to be a good game. We get to see the return of Anthony Richardson from the shoulder injury.
Texans vs Colts Expectations
00:42:53
Speaker
Texas surprises last year. Now they have higher expectations. I think they fulfill those expectations as well this season. I'm fully excited to see how this Texans offense comes out with the addition of Diggs and now Joe Mixon that nobody's talking about as much as, but very good signing.
00:43:08
Speaker
We'll see what the three-headed monster or i on the outside looks like for Houston. Like, how are they going to divvy up these touches? Like you mentioned, mixing and digs being added to Nico and Del. Still got Del at the Schultz. You have a lot of weapons for Houston. I'm curious to see how Anthony Richardson looks for Indianapolis. Him, Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman. They added Adam Mitchell from Georgia on the outside. They have pieces as well. We'll see if that defense is able to stop Houston.
00:43:36
Speaker
Um, and we'll see that, that, that Houston offense, how they move and matriculate the ball up and down the field. But I have Houston better quarterback, I believe better personnel for the most part. We'll see what Richardson, you know, how he looks. I'm curious to see how that is going to play out. ah Arizona travels to Buffalo to take one of the bills Jared and got the bills. This is arguably yet again, the worst football team in The NFL, they'll be competing with the Patriots in my eyes. I could be wrong, but from what I'm still seeing, roster construction wise, talent wise, these two will yet again be competing for the worst team in football. All right. I'm not, no disagreement, Derek. We'll see what mar Marva Harrison looks like. We'll see what Kyle Murray looks like. We'll see if that combination can can get the ball rolling there in Arizona. I think it's going to come down to,
00:44:27
Speaker
so Is Arizona able to stifle Buffalo's offense? you know Are they going to put 2-1 Kincaid? How are they going to play Keon Coleman? Who gets the touches in Buffalo? like How is that going to be debited up? So curious to see that there, but I think Buffalo pulls it out. Tennessee travels to Chicago. Take on the Bears. The Bears with their new franchise quarterback and Caleb Williams. Tennessee trying to see if Will Leves is the guy.
00:44:57
Speaker
Tennessee without Derek Henry, now with Tony Pollard. Chicago got all kinds of new weapons, like I mentioned, Williams, Adunze. They brought in DJ Moore. They bring in Keenan Allen. They have Cole Comet still. They bring in DeAndre Swift. They got pieces in Chicago. They got a ah solid defense that came with him alive at the end of last year. So, Jerry, what are you thinking as far as this game
Bears vs Titans Strategy
00:45:23
Speaker
goes? I have the Bears winning.
00:45:25
Speaker
I think we've talked about it before. I've never seen a quarterback come in with this much on a team before when it comes to the offensive side of the ball, like this much talent. The defense is still good as well, but this much talent on the offensive side as a rookie, I've just never seen it like that. People correct me if I'm wrong, they've seen another team that, oh, another quarterback, rookie QB, that comes in with this much talent. But the guys you just mentioned, your Kayla Williams, it's a good one. The only argument I could say is San Francisco.
00:45:52
Speaker
Yeah, pretty. OK, that's fine. That's fine. And you can make that argument. They have been, they've been far, they've been deep. But if you go back, based off that module, they killed Williams and this bear, so you could potentially go deep. Because this is a, this cast is crazy. Like I said, it's a buffet. It's what he can do as long as he's playing at the high level that we are expecting him to as a number one pick. So I have the bears winning. I agree with you. Jacksonville travels to Miami to take on the Dolphins. Who you got? I have the Dolphins.
00:46:20
Speaker
ah I like the Jags throughout the season, but I'm just not going to like them in this matchup. I think Tua and Hill, and especially Wytle, all still have something to prove. They just gave Joe Ramsey today an extension. I just like what the Dolphins have, even with the loss of Christian Wilkes, I still think the Dolphins are going to be very good. And I think i think the Jags aren't going to be ready for this. Not saying they're not going to be ready, but they aren't going to be able to handle this game when it comes to what the Dolphins have on offense.
00:46:50
Speaker
I think it's gonna be nice and hot in Miami that that plays into into their, and so that's what they like, you know, no bad weather. I think Jacksonville's secondary still has a little bit of questions. yeah We know what Miami is. We know they're going for the points. Can they stop a team on offense? I mean, can they stop a team on defense? And, you know, it's not like Jacksonville is bad on offense. Like Jacksonville has pieces. They have an offensive coach who's won a Super Bowl. they have a a a young quarterback who's, you know, I put him right in that Herbert kind of like category where it's like, all right, we're waiting to see if you're really the guy. So I think Miami wins. I wouldn't be shocked if Jacksonville made it. You know, I think it's going to be a tight game. I don't think Miami runs away with it. But, you know, Miami in the early year, in the early part of the season, you know, they're hard, they're hard to beat early.
00:47:46
Speaker
They're one of them teams, like, you got to figure them out, and you got to let the weather kind of help you out, slow them down so they're easily attainable. Because they they have a lot of speed. They got Tyreek. They got A-Team. They got Waddell. They got Waddell. They got the weaponry. They got, you know, pretty much what you want to talk about, Tua. Tua can throw the ball, you know? Yeah. So can the offensive line protect them? Is Jacksonville's pass rush going to be able to to stop and slow down, too? I don't really think so, so I can't mind if it's this game.
Broncos vs Seahawks Outlook
00:48:16
Speaker
Jared, the Denver Broncos led by rookie Bo Nix. I feel like Bo Nix has been playing quarterback forever. He's a rookie in the NFL now. Traveling to Seattle to take on the Seahawks. Jared, you got it. Seattle, I don't know how this was a one o'clock game, but then I'm also just like in my head thinking about this. It's not. I'm sorry. One o'clock for me. Four o'clock game for you.
00:48:41
Speaker
I'm thinking about the other games we just mentioned. I think my other games we just mentioned, I can't not make the argument that they can't be a four o'clock game, but I think I'd rather this game be replaced by Falcon Steelers than I would want this game to be a full four o'clock, but I have this still. on I mean, I'm fine. See ya'll. Yeah. It's going to be a terrible game to watch. I have the Seahawks. went This is going to be a horrible game to watch. Another terrible game to watch the Raiders travel to LA or back to LA or whatever.
00:49:11
Speaker
to take on the charges, Jared, who you got? I have the Raiders winning. Oh, yeah. I have the Raiders winning. The Raiders have been kind of dominating the Chargers in their last couple of matchups. I don't know if you remember, Chris, the last time they played. Oh, yes. This is the game that got the entire Chargers front office in. Coaches that fired. They told Brandon Stanley, get out and do not ever return. Ever. This was that game. I think they lost to the Raiders. 51 or 61, like 23, was the highest loss deficit that the Chargers have ever had in their team's history, franchise history.
00:49:47
Speaker
It is the game that inevitably got breast alien their GM removed from the premises his badges ah revoked and they're fired. Now bringing in Harbaugh, but I just think that right now if you think about.
00:50:00
Speaker
Team wise, roster construction wise, these teams are eerily similar. I just think the veteran presence, if you look at over on the Raiders side when it comes to, hey, Garden Minshew's showing that he could be a starting quarterback in this league. You still have Devontae Adams. You can go win yourself a football game compared to on the other side. It's just Herbert right now. I don't know where this offense shakes. I don't know where the needle moves for this offense. There's no Austin Ekler as your safety valve. There's no Keenan Allen. There's no Mike Williams. It's a whole new.
00:50:27
Speaker
wide receiver group, not even led by Quinn Johnson, who may be fourth on the depth chart, who actually knows we'll see in this game. But you're talking about McConnie. I think they have a Gus Edwards, JK Dobbins, as a tandem now. It's going to be rough for the charge this season. I just think I have the Raiders winning the first game.
00:50:48
Speaker
I was very taken aback when you said that the Raiders were going to win the game.
Raiders vs Chargers Discussion
00:50:53
Speaker
And you've made out a a great argument as to why the charges could be in some trouble. But, Bosa, Mack, Herbert, I've decided to bounce the Adams. Who's the jewel for the Raiders? Brock Bowers, Zamir White. ad Haven't seen them from Bowers yet. Zamir White.
00:51:24
Speaker
We'll see. And if you go to the defense, Max Crosby, yeah yeah they got Christian Wilkins. They're the one that got Christian Wilkins from the Dolphins. Yes. You could make that Jacob's argument in the quarterback. they got from them It is very much closer than than I originally anticipated. Antonio Pierce, you know,
00:51:45
Speaker
and It was an experience creep up on him. Jim Arba, who has been a NFL head coach, was among the elite. I said that the Chargers would surprise a lot of people. You make it, you you make this a compelling argument for sure. But I think that if the Chargers are going to be as formidable as I think that they can be, because they have the pieces on defense. They have the subsequent, like we'll see if they have the subsequent pieces on offense.
00:52:15
Speaker
I think a lot of it is going to be Harbaugh scheming guys open versus like, oh, this guy is just one-on-one better than you. He's going to beat you. Like the Eagles were playing last year. and Like that's what the Eagles were playing. Like this guy's better than you. He's going to beat you versus let me scheme and help some guys who may not be as great get open and do great things where I think the charges are going to be. We'll see what the Raiders defense looks like. Max Crosby's a very um compelling piece. He's going against Joel.
00:52:45
Speaker
We'll see if Joe Ault can hold his own as the left tackle. I think the Chargers win strictly. I'm just giving it to the home team. It's very close. coach I usually give it to either home team or better coach, but Harbaugh has put out the game in the NFL for a little while. Antonio pi Pierce is a little inexperienced. I give it to the home team. I'll go Chargers. Next wife. Jared, our next game.
00:53:13
Speaker
these These games aren't getting any better. The Dallas Cowboys traveled to Cleveland to take on the Browns. Who you got? Ah, this is a real 50-50. I have the Browns. I have the Browns creeping out and getting a win. And I might say creeping out, I literally mean like a field goal to win the game. um This isn't because I think the quarterback is better to know. That Daggins better quarterback than Sean Watson. I think just more comes to,
00:53:44
Speaker
how Chris talks about talent versus scheme. I think Dallas' scheme, they act like, again, CD's just getting back into game shape, right? Like, yeah, he's gonna understand how to play football, but they're just bringing Zeke back. Dak's still going through contract talks that he now has to kind of like stifle him a little bit to come into this game. The Browns have already been ready. The Browns, I think, have a little bit more talent. I think they edge out Cowboys right now in talent, defense in slightly on offense, or in a slightly on defense, a little bit more on offense.
00:54:14
Speaker
I think talent can beat out a scheme when the scheme hasn't caught up yet. And I think this is where it comes down to for Dallas. Their scheme hasn't caught up yet. And I say this as, again, how much longer are we not going to throw McCarthy in a hot seat as well, if if you haven't already thrown him there, right? How much longer do we keep scapegoating this team that Dak just had one of his, what all-Star Wars seasons last year and they ended up getting cooked by the Packers. Whereas in the on the Dutton,
00:54:37
Speaker
Well, on the Brown side, yeah, DeShawn got hurt. Yeah, I kind of like what I saw a little bit. But if they come in with DeShawn being now fully healthy, going into this team with this offense, this defense that they still have, I think the Browns scrape it out just a little bit. I go the other way on this one because what with the Cowboys, we've seen it, right? We haven't seen it in the playoffs or anything like that. But we see it in the regular season. This team can win there can beat anybody in the regular season.
00:55:06
Speaker
I think they can go up to Cleveland and win this game. I think i think they will go up to Cleveland and win this game. Because like I mentioned with other teams before, with Cleveland and DeShaun Watson, you got to prove it. And he hasn't proved that he can do it consistently. ah you know Let's not say that the Cowboys doesn't have, the Cowboys got a good defense. Cowboys can score points.
Cowboys vs Browns Analysis
00:55:30
Speaker
No matter what you want to say about the team and McCarthy and schemes or whatever the case may be, you just said it yourself. That came off one of his best seasons. That was an the MVP conversation last year. Deshaun Watson is very far away from 2018 Houston Texans Deshaun Watson. Yeah. There is no Nick Chubb. Can Miles Garrett cause problems for the Cowboys offensive line? We certainly can see that.
00:55:59
Speaker
Could Michael Parsons cause problems for the Browns offensive line? We could possibly see that. I think that is better under pressure right now than Deshaun Watson is. I think Deshaun Watson is going to be harassed all day. Now, if Deshaun Watson comes out and he looks like 2018 Deshaun Watson, then, you know, I think, you know, i even the way I think Cleveland has a chance. But I think the Cowboys have more. I think the Cowboys have more talent than Cleveland on both sides of the ball. You want to argue to coach I'm not even gonna argue McCarthy versus DePansco. You wanna talk about who's been on the hot seat. They need to rename the hot seat specifically for Mike McCarthy. He's living on the hot seat. Him, Dak, CD got his money. So quarterback and coach, figure it out. i think there I think this is another year of Cowboys stringing themselves along, getting people's hopes up, crashing and burning at that. And we start right here in Cleveland with the one.
00:57:00
Speaker
Yes, I pick the Cowboys crazy, right? Next game, Washington travels to Tampa Bay. Take one of the Bucks. Jerry, who you got? I was going to say the Bucks, and then like in my head, I've like somehow convinced myself I'm going Commander's Way.
00:57:18
Speaker
oh to the fairly simple point to make out of it is just I've convinced myself that the Buccaneers have regressed since their Super Bowl, obviously, not that Baker hasn't showed me how good he is. i He's good as a starter quarterback for this Buccaneers team, but there just hasn't been any improvements for me to say that all the commanders can't come and sneak when I was an underdog, knowing that, yeah, they're a little bit under.
00:57:42
Speaker
But McDonald's is there with Terry McGorn. And you you know when you're not being looked at enough, this is the time where you can sneak in a win against a team that's not that far off from you. Like, again, I think the Buccaneers can win. Obviously, they have a vast amount more talent than the commanders. It's just how much more faith do I have that Baker Mayfield is going to continue to continue his play from last season? Or does he start off slow again and then pick it up as he normally always does in his trajectory? He always starts the season off slow.
00:58:13
Speaker
I mean, I really did terrible game at four. These are all terrible games. I don't know. Tampa, hugh Tampa, Washington, whatever. Give me one pick a team. Yeah, I must have you. I think you have to go Tampa. That's gross. The Rams led by Matthew Stafford. Go to Detroit, take on the Lions. This may be Stafford's last time in Detroit. It's a one year contract. Maybe he plays next year.
00:58:42
Speaker
Maybe he does it. So Jared, if this is Stafford's last time in Detroit, does he leave there with a win?
Rams vs Lions Preview
00:58:50
Speaker
No. I have Detroit winning. This is a game I actually like, though. I like the matchup. I think they'll be high scoring. Very fun to watch. I have Detroit coming out and winning because I think they have a better defense than the Rams do at this point in time. I think the offense is an even.
00:59:09

just because of the emergence of Pukanakua and Kyra Williams. I think the offense is even, but I think if it comes down to a play needed by the defense, I like the Lions defense more than like the Rams. And know that's like the only edge out for me. So I have the Lions way in the shootout. i don't I don't think that the offense is even. I think Stafford's good. I think golf is good. But I think Detroit has the edge in the running backs category. Kyra Williams returning punts does not seem like that doesn't. I don't like that move. I don't like that move. But Kyra Williams, when he was in the running in the passing game, was leaps and bounds ahead of Gibbs last season. And Gibbs was a rookie, obviously. Montgomery and Gibbs are a great tandem. But his one running back was there. Kyra Williams got the touches out of, you know, he was there. He's still there now, though. He's still there. No, it wasn't like.
00:59:57
Speaker
Yeah, we got this we got this great weapon whose leaps and bounds better than Gibbs. Like i you the way you phrasing it makes it seem like. I think the running back thing got some B, but if you can't really make the argument to me right now that yeah, I'm on Ross ain't brown edges out. Cooper come by a lot. I think Cooper is still very good. at Of course, who could the coolest was just as good last season. And I don't think you but but no by just but you can't tell me Cooper, uh, Kyron Williams and Blake quorum is a better tandem than Montgomery and good. oh No, no, no, no, no. So let me, let me ask you this. Who, where did you know I'm a, I'm a big,
01:00:30
Speaker
I'm a big proponent of give me a, give me a value, give me something that I can say how much better in your mind is, is the running back situation or the robert's team situation in LA compared to Detroit, B, B plus running backs, B plus running backs for, all right. No, I'll give a B a running backs for Detroit B for the Rams.
01:00:55
Speaker
Well, you say read pray we haven't seen, we don't, we don't know how much distribution quorums want to get. We don't know how much, you know, how much the other guys in LA is going to get. We pretty much know is going to be 50, 50 or 55, 45 in Detroit. We know that. That's what it says. That's an AB for me. Then I would go B plus B Detroit lines.
01:01:21
Speaker
Or I'll say, yeah, either. I would say, I would say Rams, Detroit Lions, Detroit Lions for me. I don't know who the two is yet. Why receiver wise, you can make it. You would throw any names at me as much as you want. You can throw as many names as you want. Yeah. I'm not, you're not there. So reporter, very good. I mean, the port is better than Higby. And that's tight end, but that's fine. He can be about this. The Rams offensive line is not coast of Detroit.
01:01:48
Speaker
That's true. But again, they they do their job well. And then quarterback wise, I don't think golf is much farther off than Matt Stafford. And that that'd be a shame if we're trying to make that argument. Yeah, but it's pretty good. How have a year old Matt Stafford at this point? I'm not saying he's what he was 10 years ago, but I'm not saying i'm not saying he's bad.
01:02:09
Speaker
I think if you get last season, him was good. The year before was obviously great because he went to Super Bowl or two years ago, three years ago, he went to Super Bowl. Honestly, he was great then. I think it all falls down to how well his cup come back from an injury. It was another reported comeback from an injury. So it's like you're you're on equal ground.
01:02:30
Speaker
ah offense but I did say the Lions have the edge over them a slightly for the offense slightly. It's not as much as the the edge that they have on defense there. I like the Lions even a lot more like the Rams defense. I really they've already lost Donald. They've lost your Ramsey. I don't really know a lot of the guys on the defense anymore compared to that line defenses, which is stout. It's very good. So I'm just like if we talk about a potential shootout game, which I still think it can have because mass average is that good of a quarterback with those two are receivers.
01:02:55
Speaker
I just think that the one play that makes a difference for them will be that I believe the Lions Davis can make that play or that stop or the Rams. I just think they're not going to do it. They can try either get penalized for it or they'll miss it. Well, I just don't think they have it in them right now unless somebody just shows up out of nowhere, which it happens. All right, you're the Monday night game. The Jets travel to the Bay take on the 49ers.
Jets vs 49ers Predictions
01:03:23
Speaker
and For another yeah, I don't think it's like There's not a bad argument to make I think I like him that especially as they got I you they just somehow kept him, you know But he was getting traded. He's not Trump Williams back. Oh, you got jets Oh, you're a gassy individual. know I think the Aaron Rodgers revenge tour on mondays night our in the bay in California where he's from with a team that he's struggled against in the playoffs, but guess what?
01:03:53
Speaker
sanify Yeah. This is game one of the comeback player of the year tour. Oh, gosh, you're disgusting. Everybody who's talked about Rogers being done and the jet city, the, the, the distraction and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
01:04:11
Speaker
Robert Salva, whose whole thing is defense, came from the Niners. He knows that Kyle Shanahan, de the offense. He knows the tendencies. he knows he He knows the personnel. He was there. and anybody If anybody can stop Shanahan, or at least contain them, a guy like Purdy,
01:04:31
Speaker
it would be solid, right? Yeah, I just think the Jets got a lot of things to deal with. In theory. In theory, I think the Jets got a lot of things to deal with. Everything, the Jets, things who had to break right for the Jets, you know, Purdy's going to have to play down from his standard. Is that you fully integrated in the offense? How does, how does Trent Williams factor in? All these guys have come in late. Let me ask you. Does the sign ready play? No.
01:05:00
Speaker
Uh, how well, is the sons running rogers and listen is he back in the country? like that's our in japan I don't know. But that's what that's, how, how well is this connection between Rogers and Garrett Wilson? How, how, ah how, how do we like it more than we talking about purdy with his guys? Chris McCaffrey still there. How much more, how much more? The only reason this is even remotely close and needs to be a conversation and because of because Rogers hasn't played. Yeah.
01:05:29
Speaker
if Rodgers was anywhere relatively close to being healthy. And he talked about coming back late last year, possibly in the same season. So if he's healthy, 100% healthy, he's a better quarterback than Birdie. I don't care what nobody got to say about success in the pull playoffs or whatever. Throw for throw, position for position, quarterback on the field one time. You got got to go down the field and score. Aaron Rodgers is over a lot of guys. A lot. OK? He's the top eight.
01:06:01
Speaker
Rogers to me probably is the top, top five quarterback of all time. Pure quarterback, throwing the ball down the field, making these dope, he's the top five quarterback.
01:06:14
Speaker
If, and I mean a big if, if this game is anywhere close, I am dumping all my money on the Jets.
01:06:29
Speaker
Because we know who chokes in pressure situations. Yeah, if if it's close, I think I'll go Jets as well. And you know I can't resist an opportunity to call out the 49ers for chokes. Yeah, I think I'll go Jets as well. and Yeah. Yes, go, Jared. Way to flip-flop. I had, because like,
01:06:53
Speaker
Man, Rodgers, Rodgers just makes him great. Rodgers is great, man. And he's talking about a healthy Rodgers. I know he ain't playing the preseason, but that was by a choice. It's Rodgers, man. I don't got to say it. I want to play you in the preseason, because he got hurt last season. He played the preseason last year and got in towards Achilles in fourth place. Yeah, I don't need it. I don't need that. If I'm the judge, I'm taking the ball first. I'm usually going to kick the ball first kind of a guy. I want the ball first. I want the ball first. I got number eight. I was going to say 12. I got number eight out there.
01:07:22
Speaker
I watched his team play with Zach Wilson last year. Listen, Rogers has the case to be on his Brady is masked after this season, right? Like I asked a season later than what they did. They did in one season. He has to do it in two, but injury derailed that. I think now the talent they have. The 49ers hype is, is died down for me. They're all, they have this complete offensive defense is dying down for me. Whereas the, the Jets are,
01:07:49
Speaker
untapped potential you haven't seen it yet you don't know what it looks like foreigners ain't prepared for yet because obviously rogers hasn't played give me the jets give me the jets i like i like the i like the movement here give me the jets j e c s jets jets jets or monday night yeah jerry yeah jerry way to flip flop all right anything else where we go game time in an hour what are you playing to do Let's do it.
