What is Palmistry?

Speaker
Join us for an episode on palmistry as we unlock the fascinating insights your hands hold about your past, present, and future as we unravel the secrets hidden in the lines of your hands.
00:00:46
Speaker
So to start us off today, two things. The first being that I'm sick and I'm never sick.
00:00:53
Speaker
I feel like crap and I sound like crap so sorry but you have to deal with it. And the second is that like I really just wanted to preface this episode that like I've never practiced palmistry nor have I had like my palm read before so everything that I'm talking about is purely research based so if I get something wrong like
00:01:16
Speaker
feel free to reach out to us and just let us know and for those of you that like have had your palms read or you read palms we'd love to hear about some of your experience because I don't know if you ever have but when I started this research I was like this is so interesting like I in my head thought it was very like
00:01:35
Speaker
that there wasn't a whole lot to it. And I didn't realize how in depth researching this particular topic was going to be as someone who just I've never practiced it and I've never had my palm read. So I found it to be really interesting, but I did want to put that out at the beginning. So if for some reason something in my research was wrong, feel free to let us know because I honestly had no experience coming into this episode.
Hosts' Initial Misconceptions and Excitement
00:02:05
Speaker
Yeah, same. I also didn't and like some of the things, anything that I didn't know about it was very, very limited and also wrong knowledge because there are some things like when we're doing the research, lines that I thought meant something else actually are completely different than what I thought they meant or what I was told when I was a kid.
Origins and Cultural Spread of Palmistry
00:02:24
Speaker
And so like, this is very, very new for me too. And it's very interesting. And so whenever I was doing research, I'm like, okay, do I have that? But then I was like, like your dominant hand and I was like my tattoo, like F's up a lot of my lines. Oh, yeah. That's what? Yeah. So there was that too. But I did. I have some tips and tricks at the end of my portion, at least like in some of the stuff that I did. And I read that using baby powder is a way to like
00:02:52
Speaker
And I was like, Oh, that would be really cool to do to like, because my lines are so hard to like, trace. Yeah, palm tattoos. So yeah, like, I just really wanted to say that at the beginning so that like, if you guys are listening and we say something completely off, just know that like, this is purely research.
00:03:12
Speaker
based on our end. So if it is off, just let us know. And we don't have any problems coming back and just like, hey guys, in the palmistry episode, we were wrong. Absolutely. Yeah. We're definitely, definitely fine with that because this is a new topic for both of us. Yeah.
00:03:30
Speaker
And so like we do with most topics like this, we'll start off with a little bit of history. Palmistry, which is also known as palm reading or chiromancy, is defined as the art or practice of reading a person's character or future from the lines in their palms. And it's a way for people to feel as though they have more of an understanding of their own future and they like they have more control over it because they can foresee it, which I think is kind of
00:03:58
Speaker
cool that it was phrased that way. Yeah. It's believed that palmistry started in India, but the exact origins are pretty murky, like a lot of the topics that we talk about. But over time, palm reading spread through China, Tibet, Egypt, Greece, and even Persia.
00:04:15
Speaker
and Aristotle actually speaks about palmistry in some of his works too. Yeah, whenever I was doing the research for this, I came across this and I thought it was interesting because I know we recently talked about Romani witchcraft on the podcast and stuff, and I don't remember us really talking about this. Maybe we did, and I completely just blocked that out of my memory.
00:04:38
Speaker
phrased it as fortune telling because they did a collective of like tarot reading, palm reading, and crystal ball reading, and like shiny surface or like water. So they had a whole like collective of how they practice. But again, like, as I talked about in that episode, their
00:05:01
Speaker
like researching and learning about how they practice is like close to impossible because everything is like passed down orally.
Demonization and Renaissance Resurgence
00:05:10
Speaker
So yeah. But so whenever I was researching it, like in trying to figure out like the history of it and stuff, they said that with originating in India, like you said,
00:05:22
Speaker
they said that Romani people actually originated in the northern Indian Punjab region. And as nomadic people, as a nomadic people, and entered Europe between the ninth and tenth centuries, and Europeans mistakenly believed that they were from Egypt and referred to them as gypsies as a derogatory word. And so
00:05:49
Speaker
Romani people in particular learned and passed on the art of palm reading with other fortune telling arts throughout all of Europe and Asia due to their nomadic nature. And so I think that's really cool because as you mentioned in the previous episode when you talked about Romani witchcraft and all of their divinatory practices, the fact that they were able to spread all of this throughout Europe is I think it's pretty cool.
00:06:14
Speaker
Yeah, and then as is the norm with 99.999% of any of the topics that we cover on the podcast, palmistry was eventually demonized in the Middle Ages by witch hunters. But it rose to popularity again during the Renaissance and the Enlightenment eras, which makes sense for what it is. And learning about this, that part to me, I was like, oh, that makes a lot of sense that these are the two eras that this would come
00:06:44
Speaker
and become popular again. And then Carl Jung, who we've discussed multiple times on the podcast, took an interest in palm reading in the 20th century, and this has made palm reading a popular form of definition.
00:06:59
Speaker
I read that, so there is this author, I mean, he was a practitioner as well, so he's not just an author, but he wrote this book. His name was Julius Spear. He believed that superstition of the past is worth investigating and bringing into psychology much like Carl Jung did. Carl Jung actually wrote the introduction for Julius Spears' book, The Hands of Children.
00:07:24
Speaker
which was the first actual book on palmistry that took psychology into account and they both Carl Jung and Julius Speer leaned toward the intuitive side of palmistry and how that you can use psychology to kind of help in that divinatory practice. And so what you'll see as a lot of modern day palmists or chiropractors combined psychology with holistic healings and other forms of divination,
00:07:50
Speaker
And, you know, again, like we've talked multiple times on the podcast, but I think it is so cool because I did not, I knew related to Carl Jung and as we know him as a father of psychology and his work with like other forms of divination and especially with tarot and trying to incorporate that with psychology. I didn't know about palmistry and I thought that was really interesting. It is. I also forgot in our beginning
00:08:18
Speaker
to just preface that there might be some background noise, because as most of you know, like, I'm moving out of the country. And so we have a plumber here right now, which is making my dog crazy. And she keeps randomly barking. And then he's putting in a water heater. So that's a little noisy. And then we're putting our house up on the market to sell. I don't know if you're barking now. I know it's not prepared.
Cassandra Eason's Insights on Palmistry
00:08:42
Speaker
But we're putting our house up for sale. So we're also like,
00:08:47
Speaker
working on the house and having work done to the house tonight too. So if you hear background noise, we're trying our best to mitigate it, but it's not likely. Yeah. So this might be just a messy episode with me being sick, the dog barking her head off, like housework, construction work. So my bad. But anyways,
00:09:12
Speaker
I found, I don't know if you found this person in your research, Cassandra Eason. I thought she was pretty interesting because she, so she's this author and she has this series called A Little Bit.
00:09:28
Speaker
And it's all like, from what I could tell, it's all like witchy topics. But every book, it's like this one in particular was a little bit of palmistry. Yes, it's like a very introductory, not too far in depth. But I thought she was a not only did she have great information, but be like worth and like mentioning on the podcast. Because if you're looking for
00:09:52
Speaker
just an introduction to any of the topics outside of what we cover on the podcast, it might be worth it to look into her series on her book series. I was like, what is the movie? I can't remember which one I have. I'll have to go check my bookshelf, but I think I have one or two of her books. Like you said, it's a little bit. That's a perfect little summation of her books because it's like,
00:10:20
Speaker
a quick little introduction. It's not like this super like dense read or anything like that. It's something easy that you can follow and yeah, definitely recommend it. So she says that palmistry is an entry point to the inner soul and that one should think of palmistry as a psychic art where you tune into your subject's psyche via their palms using what is basically psychometry or psychic touch.
00:10:48
Speaker
So, palmistry involves a mingling of energy fields or auras of the reader and their subjects, and it can be used to see if there are compatibilities between yourself and a loved one in relationships. It can be used to answer questions and dilemmas for yourself and to discover the potentials, opportunities, and challenges that are all revealed through your hand.
00:11:14
Speaker
According to Eason, both poems can be read, but most readers focus on the act of hand, which is your dominant hand, or the hand that is used for writing. Your act of hand can record those opportunities and challenges in your present and future, helping make informed decisions.
00:11:32
Speaker
And your inactive hand, which is your non-dominant hand, reflects your potential, your talents and weaknesses, and what you would like to do in the long term. So if you're wanting to start palmistry or like practice palmistry, Isan shares that many people who purchase palmistry books to learn the practice often never finish reading the book because the rules to palmistry can feel very overwhelming and complex.
00:11:59
Speaker
As someone who just did the research for this, I would fully agree because we came into this topic thinking it was going to be light and fun and easy. It's fun, but it's definitely not light or easy. There is so much to it that I just didn't know. Yeah. Go ahead. Oh, no. I was just going to say, we probably could have done part one, part two, part three on this topic.
00:12:25
Speaker
for sure. But we're going to do our best to make this like a one episode ordeal. So hopefully it helps. But she shares a simple way to get started in her book a little bit of palmistry. And this explanation isn't a full like how to and it doesn't contain all the rules and the guidelines or the line names.
00:12:45
Speaker
This is just a basic way to start getting like a fuel for palm reading. She also states that the most effective case study is yourself, so like practice on yourself as well. So according to Isan, you need to make a connection. So you would hold the inactive hand of a trusted friend or family member in your active hand, or again, like I said, you could do this with yourself, like by putting your hands together.
00:13:11
Speaker
and you remain palm to palm for like a minute or two at a time without any disturbances. She states that this like quote unquote gentle but firm tactile contact is the essence of the best palm reading because intuitive and telepathic connections are easily made this way.
00:13:30
Speaker
So once you've done this for one to two minutes, then you'll take the time to run your palm down their upturned palm, moving in circles or just tapping lightly until you feel that your connection is strong. And she says that you'll know the connection is strong when you can feel the energy between both of your palms without them touching.
00:13:50
Speaker
She also notes that the energies may feel different in different sections of the poem and that some areas may feel dead like there's no energy output. Some may feel like a really high frequency and some may give you images in your mind or you may think of like a specific word or even glean an impression from it.
00:14:10
Speaker
Once you've gotten a strong connection, you would run your index finger over the lines and the mounds of, which this is a term too that I feel like was interchangeable depending on like the research I was reading. So it was either mounds or mounts of the palm. So just heads up, like if you're a palm reader and you're like, it's called a mount, the research was like back and forth for me. So some like, depending on where I pulled it from, I'll be saying mound or mount.
00:14:37
Speaker
But you would run your index finger over the lines and mounds of the subject's hand, feeling the relative energies and making note of them. She said it helps to write them down too, especially when you're first learning. Or if you're using your own palm as your subject, she recommends keeping a journal so that you can look back at it over time.
00:14:57
Speaker
Then you would repeat this process on the other hand and compare the two, piecing together information with the subject. And then again, if you're doing it with yourself, like, you know, just kind of like compare the two hands and like the information that you pulled and like think about what that means to you.
00:15:15
Speaker
Ethan believes that before you learn the palm line and energy names that you should start intuitively because this is going to strengthen your overall practice in the long run.
Elemental Hand Types and Personalities
00:15:25
Speaker
Once you've gotten a feel for palmistry on your own, then she feels is when like you should start to learn the terms and the rules of palmistry. But like most things in witchcraft, there's no right or wrong way from what I understand to practice palm reading and nothing is really set in stone.
00:15:42
Speaker
Eason says that if you intuitively sense a different meaning for a marking or area of a line from what is given in books and descriptions elsewhere, that you should really just trust your intuition on that.
00:15:56
Speaker
And whenever I was researching more about how to read palms and what are the different methods and everything, I came across this and it was talking about our hands and how they relate to the different elements, so earth, air, fire, and water. And apparently everybody has hands that your hand is more like a quote unquote earth hand and air hand.
00:16:20
Speaker
fire and water and it corresponds to like different personality traits and things like that. So I thought it was really interesting. I can't, I'm torn between which hand I think mine are, but it's pretty interesting. So for earth hands, these, this is what you would normally see from someone who has a square palm and short fingers. And the hands themselves or the palms feel firm, solid and
00:16:49
Speaker
quote unquote fleshy, which I thought was kind of gross, but like you couldn't use like another word to describe it. It'd be fleshy, I don't know. But for people who have earth hands, they're known to be practical, logical and grounded, but they can become too consumed with their immediate realities and can hinder long-term planning and achievement. So something to be aware of if you're looking at your fingers or your hand and you're seeing
00:17:15
Speaker
that you have square palms and short fingers, something to take note of. Fire hands are known to be long, long palms and short fingers and often have distinctive creases and defined mounds, which we'll get into later. I know you're going to be talking a lot about mounds and what you've researched.
00:17:36
Speaker
But people who have fire hands are known to be passionate, confident, and industrious. They're driven by their desires, but they can be tactless or lack empathy if they're not careful. Air hands, these are people with square palms and long fingers that are often bony with protruding knuckles and spindly fingers. This is going to sound incredibly creepy, but the best visual I could think about this is it reminded me of
00:18:06
Speaker
one of the members from BTS has some very long fingers and they're like kind of got bony knuckles and like yeah so like mine are yours yeah so they're like super long and skinny yes i think you have air hands um i was reading them as you were going through and i was like i think my hands are air hands yeah i don't know which ones i have i'll have to like send you a picture and let you help me decide but um
00:18:34
Speaker
But yeah, so if you are familiar with Suga from BTS, he also has air hands. But these are people who are known to be intellectually curious with innate analytical abilities, Jesus say that like five times fast, and communication skills. They're easily distracted though, and if they're not stimulated, they can become anxious. Does that resonate with you?
00:19:00
Speaker
Very easily distracted and if I'm not stimulated, I'm like next.
00:19:06
Speaker
Yes, yeah. So yeah, rings true right here on the podcast. Water hands are long palms and fingers and the hands are often soft to the touch, sometimes a bit clammy and with an overall narrow appearance. These hands indicate that they're in touch with their emotions, intuition, and psychic abilities.
00:19:32
Speaker
They are often known to be creative people and fueled by compassion and imagination, and they're extremely sensitive. Then something to look out for with these people are their feelings are easily hurt because they are so sensitive. If you have water hands and you notice that, then just something to pay attention to.
Major Palmistry Lines and Their Meanings
00:19:54
Speaker
So now I'm going to jump into the like lines and the mounds or the mounts, and this is going to be a lot of information.
00:20:04
Speaker
So if you get overwhelmed, just rewind, take a break. But also, obviously, this section would pair best with a diagram. So we'll make sure that we post something to help this make sense on our social medias for you guys. So there's four major lines. There's the lifeline, the heartline, the headline, and the fate or destiny line.
00:20:26
Speaker
So your heart line, which is also known as the love line or the mental line, and according to Isan, this should be the first line studied in a reading and it reveals parts of our emotional state, relationships, and our potential growth as a person. This line is located above the headline and the lifeline and it starts either under the index finger or middle finger and it extends toward the pinky finger.
00:20:56
Speaker
If this line is deep, it signifies emotional depth. If this line is faint, it shows a very delicate energy field. And if this line is consistently broken, it means that relationships are often fleeting, even in terms of friendships. Next is the headline, which is also known as the wisdom line. And this line is considered one of the most important lines in Chinese palmistry.
00:21:20
Speaker
This line shows how thoughts and logic manifest within our lives and the ways that we approach the world rationally versus how we feel about it. This line begins just above the lifeline between the thumb and the index finger. It runs across the palm toward the other edge of the palm horizontally. And sometimes it will begin directly on the lifeline and extend out from there. So,
00:21:46
Speaker
If this line is straight, it reveals that the subject has a more logical approach. If it's curved, it shows creativity. If it's faint, it can mean intellect isn't being used to a full potential in terms of their approach. If your headline starts on your lifeline,
00:22:06
Speaker
It means that you have a strong will or like you have really good mind over matter. And forked lines are sometimes called the writer's fork or the lawyer's fork. But I didn't really find any information on why. So there's that.
00:22:23
Speaker
Next is your lifeline. And this line reveals our life force, and it should be like a strong, deep line. It does not reveal the length of life a person will have, which is like a common misconception, apparently. But rather, it speaks of their passion for life, their pleasure for living, and their physical energy. This line begins between the index finger and the thumb, and it continues downward toward the base of the thumb.
00:22:53
Speaker
and the connection of the wrist. So if this line has breaks in it or areas where it's faint, the person could be lacking enthusiasm within their life. And then you have your fate or destiny line. So apparently this line may not appear on a person's hand until they're in their 20s or 30s, apparently.
00:23:15
Speaker
So I thought that was really interesting. It deals with the purpose and direction of life. But according to Ethan, if a child is directed by their parents into an education and a career, that the fate line will actually appear earlier in their life. This line is typically straight and depicts a straightforward path. But if this line is curved, it can mean someone will explore different purposes throughout their life. So that's your lines.
00:23:44
Speaker
Well, that's your major lines and also minor lines, which I did not cover. Next, I have your mounts or your mounds. So these are the fleshy, I guess, as Sam used the term earlier, parts of your palm, the mounds or the mounds like that.
The Seven Mounts and Their Significance
00:24:09
Speaker
And they're related to the influence of the planet, which also tells you a lot about like your physical and emotional makeup. So there are seven mounts total, and they are synonymous with the sun, the moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn. So the Mount of Venus is the largest mount on a person's hand, and it's the foundation of their personality. This mount represents love and passion, including sexual passion and sentimentality.
00:24:39
Speaker
If this mount is large and fleshy, it reveals a desire for beauty and sometimes possessiveness. And then if it's hollow or cold, it could signify a lack of sexual desire.
00:24:53
Speaker
Next is the Mount of Luna, which is also the moon ofs. But this is the second largest mount on your hand, and it deals with imagination and psychic abilities. So if well developed, the person is probably highly imaginative, creative, and has spiritual interest. If the mount is larger than the Mount of Venus, it shows a disconnection from reality.
00:25:16
Speaker
or an overactive imagination. The Mount of Apollo, so this Mount correlates to any and all talents, and it can range from creativity to sensitivity. And it also speaks to good fortune. If it's well-developed and large, it reveals success in the arts as well as luck in games of chance or money-making. If it's underdeveloped, it could reveal a lack of imagination.
00:25:42
Speaker
The Mount of Mercury is next, and this mount reveals inventiveness, awareness of practical skills, and psychic abilities. Its focus is in factual communication and devotion to friends and family. If it's well-formed and naturally larger than the Mount of Saturn or Apollo, it signifies effective expression of ideas and healing abilities.
00:26:07
Speaker
If it's similar in size to either of those mounts, then it indicates the mount is underdeveloped. The Mount of Jupiter, which is the sun, is the next one. And this one is the most important for assessing strength of character, and it focuses on ambition, leadership, and authority. If the Mount of Jupiter is neither hard nor soft to the touch, it indicates a wise teacher or mentor, as well as someone that is ambitious and fair-minded.
00:26:36
Speaker
If it's large and hard, it could signify a large ego and even difficulties within relationships. If it's hollow, it means that a person might be more of a follower than a natural born leader. The Mount of Saturn is the next one, and this mount deals with problems and how you cope with them. This mount is typically flat, and any deviation reveals firm boundaries and organization.
00:27:01
Speaker
If it has a large deviation and firmness to it, it reveals stubbornness and an unwillingness to change. And if it's underdeveloped, it shows indecisiveness and an easily influenced nature.
00:27:17
Speaker
Next is the Mount of Mars, and this mount has three locations on the palm, and they are an indication of one's ability to deal with confrontation. They have been equated to the fight or flight instinct. And these three locations are known as the upper Mars, lower Mars, and the plains of Mars. And some palm readers will only dress the upper and lower mounts. So the upper Mount of Mars, which is also known as positive Mars, sits between the headline and the heart line,
00:27:47
Speaker
below the pinky, and it reflects temperament. So if overly developed, it denotes someone who is stubborn, defiant, and a person who is not one to enter a give and take situation. If absent or completely flat, this is a sign of one's inability to express true feelings and an inability to avoid confrontation and anxiety-provoking environments.
00:28:12
Speaker
If it's just a normal elevation, the individual has strength and is courageous, well-balanced, and healthy.
00:28:19
Speaker
Lower Mount of Mars, which is also known as negative Mars, sits in the space where the palm meets the thumb, and it signifies an individual's enthusiasm or aggression. So if it's overly developed, it means that the individual may be quick-tempered, overindulgent, egotistical, and argumentative. If it's underdeveloped, absent, or flat, it can indicate that
00:28:43
Speaker
a cloud of uncertainty surrounds the individual. And it could also indicate a lack of self-esteem and getting motivated might be difficult for that person. The plane of Mars, which is also known as middle Mars plane, is located in the center of the palm. And it said the center, but when I was looking at pictures, too, it was like center bottom, like the lower, basically lower half of your palm. Hmm. OK.
00:29:12
Speaker
If undefined, this shows a highly self-centered person that could also display temper tantrums. If thick, well-developed, and firm, it indicates a highly energized person that is sociable, but this may also indicate someone that is rebellious who has no regard for the law or others.
Minor Lines and Life Events
00:29:37
Speaker
If there's a dip in it, the individual could display a calm and patient temperament. And that's the major and mounts, major lines and all the mounts. Yes. And I was struggling. I was like, my throat kept drying out. I was like, Oh God, I'm gonna die. Aww.
00:29:58
Speaker
Yeah. Well, you did awesome. But I mostly like the whole time I'm like looking at my hands like, okay. I have the diagram pulled up like, okay. So I'm self-centered. No, I'm just kidding. You're like, wow. Well, thank you. All right. So the minor lines are known as the secondary lines and they can reveal someone's talents, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. They can be very faint or may not appear apparent.
00:30:27
Speaker
There are nine common minor lines that I'm going to go over along with their general meaning. And some of these I've indicated kind of where they are on the hand and other ones I didn't just because it didn't really give a description of where it was, but also like Tiffany had mentioned, we are going to list diagrams on our social medias that way if you want to follow along, you can.
00:30:48
Speaker
So the fate line is also known as a line of destiny. This reveals the effects people and events have on an individual. These events are things that the person doesn't have any control over, though, and it's tied to the person's life path. So it's kind of like what events this person might encounter in their life that they
00:31:08
Speaker
like I said, don't have any control over. This can also be indicative of obstacles that someone may face, whether there are family members who are controlling and if their needs are being neglected. If there are breaks in this line, this can indicate hard luck, loss, or failure in life. And so just to give you an indication of where this is located, this line is located in the center of the palm and runs vertically.
00:31:34
Speaker
The Apollo line or the Sun line, when present is an indication of success. It can indicate creative, self-confident individuals who are very action-oriented to their plan. People who have this line can communicate their ideas well and are sensitive. Markings or breaks along this line can indicate times of illnesses or possible setbacks. And if seen, this line runs vertically below the ring finger.
00:32:01
Speaker
The bracelet lines are located at the base of the palm or on the wrists. Majority of people have three bracelet lines. And if you're lucky, you will end up with four lines, which can be an indicator of either living to 100 or living close to 100 years old. The lines can reveal a person's longevity, health, destiny, prosperity, the balance of the mind and of the spirit. The more solid the lines, the better the chance for a good, healthy life.
00:32:31
Speaker
The first line, which is closest to the palm, if it's clear and well-defined, this indicates good health. If a woman's line is bowed and turned upward, she will come across many obstacles in her life and endure pain. This could also indicate childbirth and complications, or she may only have one or two children, which I thought was kind of funny because I'm just like,
00:32:53
Speaker
Okay, but like I only have to show my line is like bowed and everything I only have two children and I'm sorry, but that is not a Pain or obstacle or something that I will have in my entire life I feel like whenever this was like researched and like come up come about you know like
00:33:10
Speaker
It was a time whenever women had 15,000 kids. And so having one or two was not that great, but I'm sorry. I have two kids and that's all I want. They also had to have children to run the family farm or the family business. So yeah, that would probably hurt them versus now today where it's like we're not doing that shit anymore, so it doesn't matter. I hate it. I'm just like, this is a great line on my palm. Thank you. Thank you. I love this one. Yes. This is my favorite line.

The second line, if clear and defined may indicate financial prosperity and a life you take joy in. If the first two lines are chained, it could indicate that you had a rough start in life, but that with everything, that too shall pass and there's happiness in your future. And the third line, if clear and defined, could indicate that you can become influential within your community and well-known amongst your peers.
00:34:10
Speaker
So the next line is the next minor line is the relationship lines. These set of lines are also known as the marriage or love lines and they're small lines below the pinky finger. There may be several or one and it doesn't always indicate marriages or partners but it indicates relationships that are significant in one's life. If they're well defined and longer, this indicates that the person is able to make long-term commitments. If they're shorter and weaker, this could indicate that relationships may not last.
00:34:39
Speaker
And if there are crossing or forked lines, this could be indicative of divorce.
00:34:45
Speaker
The next minor line is the health line, and this is also known as the line of the liver. This indicates overall health and well-being. People who have the ability to heal others physically, emotionally, or spiritually may have this line. And if it appears to be broken or frayed, this can indicate illness or maybe an illness has come and gone. It could also indicate illnesses in the people that are closest to you.
00:35:10
Speaker
The girdle of Venus is the next minor line and this can indicate a wound up or nervous person. These individuals can experience extreme highs and lows and they may crave excitement and be highly sensual in nature. If the line has breaks, it can represent an individual who needs to keep their temper in check.
00:35:31
Speaker
The next minor line is the intuition line and this indicates people who can read other people and situations instantly. These people who have this line, they're highly intuitive and it's often apparent in psychics and psychic mediums. If broken, this could indicate that someone is overly empathetic and should be careful of their health and of their energy.
00:35:52
Speaker
If it is not well pronounced or absent, this doesn't mean that the person isn't psychic or intuitive because there is a psychic and intuitive hand shape. I think this ties back into what I was talking about earlier with the elements and how you can figure out which hand shape you have. If you are a psychic medium and you don't have this line, that doesn't mean that you're not actually a psychic medium and you're actually crazy.
00:36:21
Speaker
It's not well pronounced currently. So the next minor line is the children lines. And these are vertical lines that cross the relationship or marriage lines. They're very faint and they can indicate a child or a potential child if you want to go that route. They can also indicate professions of someone who cares for children, whether that be a teacher, social worker, step parent, or a foster parent. Broader lines indicate males and narrow lines indicate female children.
00:36:52
Speaker
And then the last line is the simian line. This is a rare line that appears instead of a heart or a headline. These lines are conjoined to form the simian line and they may indicate that someone has a hard time dealing with stress or they take things too personally. This can be indicative of a person that has an enhanced connection with their heart and mind and should be mindful of how having that close connection between your heart and mind
00:37:21
Speaker
can make it difficult to deal with stress or matters of the heart. But yeah, so that is all of the minor lines.
Practical Techniques and Podcast Updates
00:37:30
Speaker
So many lines. So many lines. And then just to wrap this up, I looked up a few
00:37:38
Speaker
tips and tricks on things that can help you or how to get started. So the first, I talked about it at the beginning, but use baby powder on the palms that you're reading to help accentuate the lines and markings, making them just a little bit easier to read. This is especially good to do if you're just starting out or if you're like me and your palm is tattooed, which makes some of your lines harder.
00:38:06
Speaker
So try that. Spend some time just practicing on yourself, which I talked about a lot at the beginning. You know, like you're your best. What's the word I was going to go for? Subject. You're your best object. So you know, just practice on yourself, really get to know the lines on your hands and the mounts or mounds on your hands.
00:38:29
Speaker
And, you know, like Ethan said, try to do it intuitively first before really spending the time like memorizing what the lines are called and what they mean, because your intuition is going to be like your best guide in palm reading. And then also, again, I talked about this briefly earlier, but keep a palmistry journal, especially when you're reading your own palm.
00:38:51
Speaker
to help keep track of your own reading over time because this is going to help you kind of understand when you're seeing similar things along the lines or you know if you're seeing a lot of changes especially on your own palm it'll help you kind of like work that out over time being able to go back and read some of those things. But that's all I have which is
00:39:14
Speaker
a lot. We covered a lot on this episode. Yeah, we sure did. Yeah, this is, I mean, honestly, though, when I'm looking at the recording time on this, it's not as long as I thought it was going to be because whenever I was merging our notes, I was like, damn, this is gonna be like, two hours. Yeah. And again, like, I can't remember if we said this, like, while recording or not. But when I was doing the research, I was like,
00:39:40
Speaker
Jesus Christ, there's so much shit. I stopped researching and I was like, Sam, this is what I've covered. Here's what you should cover because I don't even know where to go off of this. Like I feel like we covered a lot, right? But I don't even think that we really like deep dove into this because like, there's so many like rules, even though like it's not, there's no like one right way to practice or like,
00:40:09
Speaker
one way to do everything when you're reading a poem. There's still a lot of rules to it or guidelines as we like to loosely refer to them. And there's no strict, to get started, this is exactly how you have to do it. But there's a lot of information that might help you along the way too.
00:40:33
Speaker
There's just a lot. Your reading is a more in-depth topic than I thought it was going to be when I suggested covering it. I was like, wow. Yeah, there's a lot. Yeah. So definitely check out our resources and especially if you want to know more, check out our Instagram page and do your own research. Like we always say. Like we always say. Do your own research and that's it.
