Introduction to Fatherhood Friday

00:00:00
Speaker
Hey everybody, welcome to Fatherhood Friday. My name is Jared and I am the Preacher Dad. And here on the Preacher Dad podcast, we're trying to equip and inspire the Christians in the West to engage in the culture war and to make a difference for the next generation. And I hope that you're ready to make a difference for your family.
00:00:21
Speaker
And today is Fatherhood Friday, but I'm running solo today. So I hope that you enjoy this episode where we talk about in the importance of enduring through trials and the normalcy of challenges and how you're not alone if you're facing those fiery trials today.

Sponsorship and Spiritual Warfare

00:00:42
Speaker
ah want to remind you that our episode today is brought to you by Cornerstone Fellowship. Cornerstone Fellowship is a little country church just north of Tombsboro, Georgia. And we would love for you to come and let us love you.
00:00:55
Speaker
And we love Jesus and we want to tell you more about him. So if you'd like to find out more, you can check out and we would love to stay in touch with you. All right, let's start Fatherhood Friday. Have a great one.
00:01:24
Speaker
Well, hello, all you seven or eight listeners out there. This is Fatherhood Friday. I'm Jared, and I am the preacher dad. And normally I have my fatherhood panel today with me for Fatherhood Friday, but today I'm flying solo.
00:01:38
Speaker
And, you know, we were talking recently about some of the things that we've been experiencing in the last couple of weeks since Charlie Kirk's memorial service, which was a spiritual high for most of us.
00:01:54
Speaker
I know myself, um and there's just been an incredible revival that's been sparked throughout our nation.
00:02:05
Speaker
And the other dads and I were discussing the fact that, you know,
00:02:12
Speaker
We've kind of all been under some type of spiritual attack in the last couple of weeks. um Somebody's dealing with ah family drama and challenges. Somebody's dealing with...
00:02:24
Speaker
um church issues going on in their church family, in addition to losing a family member. um Just a number of things added, increased temptations, a number of things that really could be considered spiritual warfare.
00:02:44
Speaker
And we thought it was rather interesting that all of us had experienced something similar to that in the last two weeks.
00:02:54
Speaker
And we started thinking, you know, maybe we aren't the only ones, maybe some of you out there are also experiencing added pressure and stress and increased attack of various types.
00:03:06
Speaker
Um, at least things that could be considered attacks. If you look at it from a spiritual point of view, none of us, I'm not sure.
00:03:16
Speaker
Well, Nate sort of identified it as spiritual warfare. And I think the rest of us started seeing some of the things that are going on in our lives in a new light that maybe this is spiritual warfare that the enemy enemy's coming after us.
00:03:31
Speaker
You know, if you're anything like we are, and we hope you are, ah you probably have experienced some of that as well, because it is normal to be under spiritual

Endurance and Spiritual Growth

00:03:48
Speaker
attack. And it's even more ah common that after you've had a significant spiritual awakening or powerful moment of growing close to God, that the enemy did come after you and try to tear you down or maybe say that wasn't real or it wasn't genuine, or maybe say you don't deserve it or all types of other kinds of
00:04:16
Speaker
attacks like that. So I thought that maybe you might be encouraged to hear a little bit from the scripture. So I'm going to read to you from 1 Peter chapter four, and it starts in verse 12.
00:04:34
Speaker
It says, beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you. as though something strange were happening to you.
00:04:45
Speaker
But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. You know, we shouldn't be surprised when we start taking flack.
00:05:00
Speaker
It means we're over the target. You know, a few weeks ago, few months ago, our church was vandalized. Someone broke in and broke a few windows and threw the cross from the wall on the floor and turned over the pulpit and threw chairs around the room. They didn't steal anything.
00:05:19
Speaker
They just tore everything up in the sanctuary. They went over the fellowship building and did similar stuff over there. And honestly, at first it was a little discouraging. And then by Sunday, we were almost encouraged by that because we felt like, well, maybe that means we're doing what we ought to do if the devil doesn't like it that much.
00:05:40
Speaker
So maybe, you know, you need to look at the fiery trials as normal life.

00:07:28
Speaker
You know, some people want to teach that Christian should have all kinds of success and prosperity. God intends you to be wealthy and all kinds of things like that. And, you know, God does intend us to prosper and to succeed, but that doesn't always look like the world sees it.
00:07:47
Speaker
The world sees prosperity one way and the Lord sees it another way. And so we need to remind ourselves of that. And we need to remind ourselves that trials, fiery trials are par for the course.
00:08:00
Speaker
He says, don't so see fiery trials when they come upon you to test you as though something strange were happening or How could this happen? Oh my goodness, I'm so surprised. Don't be surprised.
00:08:12
Speaker
It's par for the course. This is the normal, regular way of work in the kingdom. This is kingdom work you're doing, and you're going to be attacked. So, you know, if you are attacked, and spiritually speaking, under spiritual attack of some sort, or maybe you're just beat down or worn out, or there's fiery trials coming upon you,
00:08:36
Speaker
It's all right. That means you're heading the right direction. It means the devil doesn't like what you're doing. how Peter goes on to say, if you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed because the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
00:08:52
Speaker
Man, I tell you, i want the spirit of God to rest upon me. And if that means I got to put up for some insults because of that, that's okay. I'm blessed.
00:09:04
Speaker
I am blessed. He continues and says, but let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer as a meddler.
00:09:14
Speaker
Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.
00:09:21
Speaker
So, you know, he's saying, listen, don't, don't suffer because you're doing wrong. If you're doing wrong, you, you know, you kind of deserve what you get. i suppose, ah suppose in some ways, although All of us deserve worse than we get, I would say.
00:09:40
Speaker
But, um you know, he's saying, hey, don't suffer for doing wrong things. Do the right thing. And if you're suffering the name of Christ, rejoice in that and be grateful and just recognize that that's the normal way things are going to go and the Christian life.

Encouragement and Resistance

00:10:02
Speaker
And so... So he says in 1 Peter 5, verse eight, he says, be sober-minded, be watchful.
00:10:13
Speaker
Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your by your brotherhood throughout the world.
00:10:32
Speaker
You know, it was rather encouraging the other day to discuss with my brothers their struggles and their sorrows and the challenges of their lives and to realize I'm not alone.
00:10:44
Speaker
And, you know, I think it encouraged them to hear that, yeah, I'm i'm experiencing the same thing. So these sufferings are normal and they're experienced by your brotherhood around the world and brotherhood can include the sisterhood. This is, Peter's not only writing to men.
00:11:01
Speaker
So our brothers and sisters around the world are suffering persecutions and sorrows and challenges. That's normal. this is that This is a war. We are involved in a war and we need to be prepared for facing that spiritual attack. So I just thought maybe somebody out there needed to hear a little bit of encouragement to realize that, hey, you're not alone and this is not abnormal.
00:11:27
Speaker
This is part of the part of the job description. and being a Christian is enduring the challenges and the sufferings that the Lord allows. So I hope that you are lifted, encouraged a little bit more today, and that you're going to go out there and resist the devil, that he might flee from you, resist the devil, stand firm in the faith, and grow not weary in well-doing, for in due season you shall reap if you faint not.
00:11:52
Speaker
So stay in the fight, brothers and sisters. And i hope that all 10 or 11 of you, maybe we gained a couple listeners since we started, ah all 10 or 11 of you will continue to seek out the Lord.
00:12:06

00:12:48
Speaker
And just remember that he's a defeated foe. We do not have to fear evil of the enemy. God bless you, friends. Have a great day. Bye-bye.
