That was a spur of the moment. I happened to stumble across that on social media. i instantly sent you a message. I was like, dude, you're five minutes. I'm there. i guess i canceled the Saturday night show. I said, sorry, guys. I'm going to see Kissing Lillard. You're on your I'm so glad they showed you today. It was such an awesome surprise to see there and get get to meet you. um I realized that we were right by you, or else I would have shot you a message sooner, saying that we were going to be there to kind of better plan things. But the fact that you canceled the show, just come see us, means the absolute world. That was actually, that was Zach's second show playing with us, and that was our third show.

and all of our gear got blown up basically um whoever did it was outdoors and whoever the electrician was who hooked the generator to every to the sound and everything reversed the clarity all the negatives and positives were switched and it sent an electrical surge that almost destroyed cody's um guitar pedal board it up to whatever like the back part of it was but the pedals are fine it destroyed our filling basis his whole rig my smoke machines got blown out and then

um I would have lost my microphone, but thankfully i was using theirs because mine wasn't, the signal was messed up. So it destroyed like half of our gear. And then all of the all the stage monitors were blown out. So I couldn't hear anything the first song. I had i was Kiss Me Kill Me. I was all over the place in my pitch, in my tune, because then I was pushing too hard and I was starting to burn myself up. So I had to go down into the crowd for the second song.

So I could hear myself and like kind of find where I was again pitch wise. And then that's how it started. with us having the crowd on the stage with us jamming out while we played a cover Rebel Yell and we got a lot of amazing photos and videos, sold a bunch of merch, signed photos and autographs and whatnot. It was a great time. It was a great time in the sense we were probably the only ones who benefited from that. We still never got paid for that, by the way. I messaged the guy the other day because I had another band message me about it like, hey, can we get paid? I was like, no, we're not getting paid from that show. He declared bankruptcy. Yeah.

New Bassist Audition: A Perfect Fit

tell his story of the audit audition, but I want to tell my perspective really quick. He he came in with just the nastiest, sexiest looking face that I've ever seen. Just this glossy black and green. just like The thing looked like it was being taken over. It looks like it's being taken over by, um what what is Venom? What's his species called? A symbiote? A symbiote, yeah, yeah. It looks like it's taken over by like a symbiote. It's cool looking.

ah But then I tried out. I was honestly super nervous. i was a little shaky. It was the first time trying out for a band. I've been in bands before, um ah since like 14 years old. But it's funny that you say that you were nervous and you had never auditioned because that was actually something that we came across a lot. Where anyone, most not everyone, but most people who auditioned for drums or bass, um they told us that they were nervous and that this was the first time they've ever had audition for a band, which kind of took me and Cody by surprise just because,

what cody's you know history was with like the prosody and bands but for me you know it was a process of you had to show like hey you fit this a certain way in order to be a part of it um like even in my first band when i when i was in high school i mean dying desolation you know i was already in choir and show choir And I dress the part and act and look the part and that's where they're like, hey, you're going to be the guy for this.

So it it was it was weird that a lot of people who played guitar or played bass and drums were all like, oh, yeah, usually I just tell people that I play bass and they're like, great, can you play this? Great. You're in the band kind of thing. There was no audition process. So that that was kind of um an interesting new perspective on the music scene around us.

Yeah, if i if I can chime in on that too, because I think it is interesting. I do think that there are two kind of different types of bands around. There's the bands around that start with an idea for what the band will be, like a clear idea, like a Kissing Lilith idea of what what the band will be, what the sound will be, everything.

And then there's the hey, we're friends, we really love playing music and we've been playing for years and we're at the end of high school or early college let's start a band and just build it up from the bottom so i think that' that's kind of where the two different perspectives come in yeah yeah i came from it it was just like i never tried out to like get an existing band it was just

ah and then ah And then from there we thought, okay, what's the sound going to be? had like five different demos and they all sounded alternative, but in very different ways. Like some was more like offspring kind of sound. Some was more like a disturbed kind of sound. Some was more like a tool kind of sound. Some was more like Rage Against the Machine. So they they all had that that to it, but different in different ways. And that's kind of how Kissing Love has developed today. And we're still developing, you know, I mean, the next song, What to Die For, you know, shooting the music video for that this

And if you take that timeline and then you look at, okay, then we played three shows at the end of that year all sudden, then we added Zack as our official basis. And then that will be that. um And then now we're doing the music video next week and we got the Cleveland Music Awards and it's like, and our our followers have shot through the roof and they're not just numbers, they're people and we talk to all of them. So we are going to continue releasing singles until we probably have about seven or eight singles released. And then we will release a batch of songs all at once that will be the album. So all the songs that are released right now as singles will be on the first album. um But we're going continue releasing them as singles because financially it makes sense. um It makes sense for VIP.
