After the and Indian independence in 1947, Jaipur was into Rajasthan. changed into rajasthan And it's a popular tourist destination. It's part of the Golden Triangle. So the Golden Triangle is where people travel in India. So it's Delhi, Jaipur, and ah gra Agra, where the Taj Mahal is.

Yeah. Yeah. The Prince of Wales gave Jaipur its pink city name. It's associated with the pink color that in 1876, the Prince of Wales and Queen Victoria came to Jaipur.

I think in 2017. And because I was in India for like a school research project. But at the end of my trip, I wanted to go to like a more touristy place. So I went here and it was amazing.

It was very interesting. You can see on the episode, if you guys watch it, it's very, very crowded like most of India is. But it's not like... There's a part of the episode where they're driving on the outskirts of the city and they see a lot of really run down houses and poverty and kids eating trash is what they say. i don't know if they were actually eating trash, but um the actual city, there's a lot of green areas and parks.

It is very busy and crowded, but it's, there's a lot to see and a lot to do. And it's really interesting and fun. And I had a guy, he was like my tour guide for like a whole day. he had, it was like this guy and a taxi driver and took me around the city And saw all these really interesting things. And they're really known for their textiles and their textile printing. Yeah. Which is, I think, what they did the first time we came to Jaipur.

Oh, was it to ask about the textiles? Yeah. I noticed that, like, even, you know, the scenery is... kind of deserty like some of India is and just kind of beige but like they're the clothes that they were wearing are just so bright and it's just like what they wear every day yeah this like bright beautiful dresses and turbans and yeah stuff like that and it's also interesting so I stayed at a hostel here And, like, i walked I walked up to the hostel and on the door and, like, the front steps of the hostel, like, in the carved into the stone was a swastika.

Oh. And I was like, where am I staying? But that symbol doesn't mean, like, a bad thing in other religions because it's, like, all over the city. Right.

Which is crazy. So the Nazis just kind of. It's a sacred symbol with positive connotations representing good fortune, well-being, and prosperity. it was changed, obviously. And unfortunate. But they're still all over the city.

Anyways, it's a great place. So if you do travel to India, go to Jaipur for sure. Because it's really beautiful and interesting. And um All right. Well, these teams arrive here and they hop in their taxis and Mel and Mike, they get in a taxi, but the driver doesn't know where he's going.

So he kind of like runs to go try to find directions, but Mel and Mike trying to get their bags out of the trunk. And find a different taxi. Yeah. They can't open the trunk and he's the driver's gone. Yeah.

and i I don't think it's a recording. I think it's an actual person. think it is because it sounds different every time. But it says like on the phone, it says pick up or for your next clue, dial one of these numbers. So they pick it up, dial a number and they say, where's our clue? And then somebody says it. And like with the thick Indian accent over a phone, they kind of have a hard time understanding what they're saying. So they run and get their taxi driver and they're like, listen to this guy and see what he says.

And it basically says, go to the big fort and park in this. Yeah. Amba Fort Guara Parvati parking. Yeah. is what it says and so they're the first team to get the clue and head out and then other teams show up all the other teams except for christy and jody basically show up at the same time and they're just walking around this tree they are so oblivious and they don't even notice these red phones and it's like and like this is when this is one that one of the times where jamie's like Are you even listening to me?

Yeah. So, they have to choose a group of the Maharaja's camels, then using a set of traditional tools, load and carry enough food and water to satisfy each of the camels in the group. Okay. Once the food reaches the designated line and the water spills out of the trough, the camel master will hand them the clue.

Yeah. So Victor does it. the... the There's a pail for the water. Yeah. And there's like a big basket for the hay. So they have to fill up the water high enough that it gets to the line. And then there's a hole and the water has to come out. so And then they have to fill the basket with hay and carry it over to this area where there's like a stick coming out ground. post with a line. Yeah. And they have to dump the hay out into a pile up to the line. Yeah. Yeah.

So, he volunteers to do it. And he's 68 years old. And it's very physical task. So, he's, like, really struggling. Like, his breathing is so, yeah like. Yeah. He's like. Yeah. And Mike the whole time was like, oh, my gosh. I should have done this one. We didn't know what it was going to entail. Yeah. He's like, I can't even watch this. This is torture. can't watch this. Like, feel so bad for him. And he was like, we're going to be here, like, 30 minutes after everybody.

Except for. So, they it seemed like all of them started with the water first. Which was opposite of Victor. Yeah. So, they there was a pail for the water. And then all of them took their pails over to the hay and started filling up the their pails or just, like, putting it down their shirt. Yeah.

And putting the hay down on their shirt. And, like, the pail is way smaller than the basket. Yeah. So, Mel finishes the water last. Yeah. And he starts carrying baskets of hay before anybody else even realizes. Yeah. So he like almost finishes before anybody.

The paragliding and then the cheese going down the hill. Yep.

Mm-hmm. And Tammy and Victor get to that puppet store at this point, and the clue is a detour, and the choices are movers or shakers. So these are two choices between two tasks right two the choice between two tasks that will plunge them into the chaotic streets of Jaipur.

Movers is they have to travel to the Sanguinary Gate where they'll choose a cycle rickshaw loaded high with barrels. Transport the barrels by pedaling one and a half miles to the streets of Jaipur to the Jaroway Singh Gate.

So these probably are like the names of the eight gates that you were talking about. um And search through the containers for the small metal elephant to exchange for their next clue. And then shakers is travel to a busy intersection, put on traditional costumes and makeup and join a Rajasani dance troupe.

Go into the streets and shake your hips for tips to earn a hundred rupees and return the band leader to exchange the money for the clue. I would definitely choose shakers. For sure. 100 rupees is only like $1.15. It's a dollar. Yeah.

And it was probably less at that time. And like we always say like when they used to have to beg for money if they were the last team to arrive in a non-elimination. We're like we hate when they ask people for money in areas. that But yeah it's only a dollar. Yeah. and you can get it from a lot of different people. Yes.

Yeah, so. And then all the teams are now finishing the detour and headed to the, or sorry, finishing the roadblock and heading to the detour. Yeah. And then it says caution, speed bump ahead because we can know that Kristi and Jodi were saved by non-elimination, so they have an extra task this lake.

Tammy and Victor finish the detour before any of the others arrive. Yeah. And they get the clue that says race by taxi to the Jaigar Fort for the pit stop of this lake of the race. So they head there and they check in as team number one and they win kayaks.

Yeah. Yesterday, i was me and Sadie were together driving home, and i was like, I know you haven't watched the episode and it's not going to give it away, but the team number one won kayaks. And she's like, oh, that's dumb. Yeah.

Yeah, so, um, Chrissy and Jodi then head to their speed bump, and it says to go to the Kala Hanuman Temple and perform an Indian tradition of painting an elephant. Using the colored paints, he you'll decorate a waiting elephant for an upcoming festival, and then they continue on to the race.

So, um... And the elephant is so cute. Yeah, it was really cute. This is where I went when I was in Jaipur. I went to the elephant sanctuary.

Oh, yeah. It was just right out of the city, outside of the city and painted the elephant and stuff like that. So it's like, it's called Elephantastic if anybody wants to go.

It's a great place. And they the Amber Fort is the main fort in Jaipur. And it's up on a hill. And it used to be the big deal, the touristy thing, is that you rode elephants up the hill to this fort. this Jaipur is in a desert. It's really dry. It's really hot. They put these wooden saddle things on top and carry these fat tourists up this hill.

and it was not good for the elephants. And now it's illegal to do that. You can't do that anymore. So this company like rescued all these elephants and they all live there. And it's just, they're so happy there. it seems to me.

And so when you go there, you can, you can actually ride the elephant, but it's like one person and you're not wearing a saddle. You're just like sitting on the top and you're going very slowly through the shaded trees. So anyways, but anybody has a chance to go there in the future, go to that place.
