So it's a very tight leg. Everybody within a few minutes. They have $91 for this leg. And the team start arriving to the airport. and they find out that there's only Vietnam Airlines is the only place that will fly to Cambodia.

isn't until 1225. The next day. next day so it's like. like twelve eighteen hours yeah but So all these teams are making bookings. And the last couple teams to arrive to the airport are Lance and Carrie and Zev and Justin.

And they get up to the booking, the desk, and they're told that it's full. They're not going to make it on They're pretty upset about that and know that's going to be pretty bad for their race.

So they ask to be put on the wait lists because the next flight isn't going to be until 2.15. But they end up making it on the same flight. All of them together. Yeah. Which was lucky. To the chagrin of the other teams, they boarded the plane and they were like, there's a 99% chance that they're not making it on this plane. It's not going to happen.

And then they do. yep So they all make it on the flight. They land in Cambodia and they get in cabs and head to this fabled foreign correspondence club.

And the first team to get there are actually Zev and Justin. Yeah. and they, and then Megan and Shane and Sam and Dan are right behind them.

They go up to this guy that's sitting there at the table and they say like, what can you give us our next assignment? And they give them like a copy of a newspaper. And on the front is a picture. And but's so it looks like there's like a file folder in the folded up into it. Yeah.

um It says, using only the photo, teams must figure out their next destination is the Hotel delo hotel Le Royale. And you have to find the matching photo of Jackie Kennedy Onassis which when she visited in 1967. So, they have to find out that that picture matches the picture in Hotel Le Royale. And

Except for a taxi driver for Gary and Matt. And then a local for Brian and Erica. They tell them to go to the Royal Palace. Oh. Instead of the Royal Hotel.

So all the other teams start making their way to this hotel. And Zev and Justin get there first. And the clue there is a detour. And the choices are cover or wrap.

i just went in and copied and pasted at these. So, cover. Teams must make their way to the Russian market and find a marked motorcycle helmet shop. They must choose four helmets and sell them you using just their persuasion.

to a family of four consisting of two adults and two children for $10. Once the sale is completed, they must hand the shopkeeper the money in exchange for the clue. And then wrap is teams must make their way to the Russian market and find stalls number 980 and 981 where the shopkeeper will hand them a silk scarf.

they watch They must search the market for a woman wearing an identical scarf and bring her back to the stall. Once they have correctly matched the two scarves, the shopkeeper will hand them the next clue. And I think we would choose wrap. I think trying to sell something is always a gamble. And so people have a hard time finding the but a lady matching their matching, like the scarf that they have. But Zev and Justin do find their scarf lady first. And the clue says travel on foot to Watul Tompong to search for your next clue.

And meanwhile, the Globetrotters are in the market and they find some American women from Pennsylvania just hanging out there and they team up with them to help find the scarf. Yeah.

and So, yeah, all these teams start arriving to this market and getting their scarves and looking for people. Pretty crazy. But Zev and Justin get to the next clue first, and it says, who's ready to go bananas? It's a roadblock.

And this teammate must wear. I typed W-H-E-R-E. Wear a mask. Wear a mask. Wear a mask and a tail and complete three monkey maneuvers that there their person shows to them and then they'll get in their next clue.

Yep. So these monkey maneuvers are like on the ground there's a mat and on the mat there's this. It's balance beam almost. balance beam. Yeah. Made out of inches off the ground. And they have to put on yeah a mask and a tail and like walk on all fours and kind of hop around and do weird monkey things. They're not really hard.

Then ah Sam and Dan, who had arrived at the roadblock after Zev and Justin, ended up leaving first. dan Dan did the roadblock. And he did really good.

He did it quickly. Yeah. And, but they get into, and then Zev finishes. So Sam and Dan get into a, like, tuk-tuk kind thing. yeah And Zev and Justin use their good taxi driver.

um so it does get kind of confusing but brian and erica arrived to the uh uh detour like one of the last people and they got so lucky that the one that they needed was walking like right by the scarf stall literally they turn they pick up the scarf and turn around and she's like right there and other people have been yeah it's like searching for a while so they got lucky with that um Lance and Carrie are kind of struggling to get their helmets sold.

Phnom Penh specifically fleeing civil war and the American bombings in Vietnam. And then the population was forcibly evacuated in 1975 by the Communist Party and faced persecution, forced labor and genocide.

The city of Phnom Penh was pretty much uninhabited from 1975 to 1979 until Vietnam forces took the city back in 79. Since then, the city has been reconstructed and infrastructure improved in the modern era with the support of international investment and aid.

By 2019, Phnom Penh has about 2 million people, which is about 14% of the Cambodian population. um So this part, this Communist Party, which was backed by the Chinese government, it massacred the these people um like in the killing fields.

There's just mass graves throughout the country of people during this time. And there were some, like, prisons. There was a prison called Security Prison 21.

eight and still in the race and if you remember from leg two they were saved by a non-elimination they are really lucky so far and they said too bad we're not this lucky in poker we'd be so rich yeah and so when zev and justin are talking about they're like like you had it at the airport and then we did you give it to me and it's like i don't know and justin says like He either had it in his pocket or I had it in my bag and we lost it.

I know. And, So Justin, he says like, oh it must be my fault because I'm in charge of the documents and I lost it. And I was like, well, it could be my fault because I might have just dropped it and I'm and not blaming you. And they're they leave like still very just like we love each other and nothing, nobody did anything wrong. And yeah, it was just disappointed super unfortunate.

Justin had opened the fanny pack to pull out a headlamp and not didn't notice that the passport had fallen out. It was later turned in at the American diplomatic mission in Phnom Penh so they were able to get it at least like and I'm sure that the race has like all their bases covered on you know like make sure you have several copies because if you don't have the physical passport but you have a copy of it it makes it so much easier to like in these emergency situations but they were able to get the actual passport which

And when I go to his um Instagram, like, he's still, it looks like he's, like, still politically active. And looks like they might have another child. I think they have two daughters, it looks like.
