Airport Layover and Flight Details

Um, well the teams, they arrive at the airport and they find out that the flights don't leave until the next morning. There's one at six 55 and one at nine 25 and the ticket counter doesn't open until five 30. So they have to spend the whole night in the airport.

And when that opens up, they start buying their tickets and, um Like Megan and Shane, Sam and Dan and the Globe Trotters get on the 655 flight.

But as Brian and Erica and Matt and Gary are trying to buy theirs, and they say that they're sold out. So they make it on the 925 flight. So that's not good.

it's kind of. nice that they it's not one two teams at least yeah so that first flight lands and the teams are running from the airport to the train station which seems like it's like in the same place and um sam and dan and megan and shane they buy tickets up above and flight time and biggies are like we can buy tickets down on the platform so they run down the stairs to the platform And it takes them longer to buy the ticket because like their card doesn't go in or something like that. and they're kind of struggling to figure it out.

So they don't get on that first train. But Sam and Dan and Megan and Shane do. And then they get on a

And they make it to the... ah amusement park and the clue there says one person from each team must now ride the frit fall while riding they'll need to spot this arrow pointing in the direction of their next clue box which is visible for only 15 seconds before the ride plunges 24 stories in less than three seconds so shane and sam do it and they work together and it doesn't seem hard to see the no arrow um

But did you notice I didn't notice it until like one of the last teams did it. But on this ride, like they go up and then they are up there for a second. And then the seat kind of like rotates forward a little bit. Oh, I didn't know. so when you drop, you're like almost not facing the ground completely, but like almost.

Oh, I didn't know. Which makes it scarier. That would be scarier. Yeah, you notice it the most when Matt does it, and he's the last one. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah, this this ride is like, it goes straight up and straight down, kind of like the rocket at Lagoon, if you're familiar with Lagoon.

But um anyways, they see the arrow pretty easy, and they go to that clue box, and the clue there says play a game. It's like a ring toss. Yeah, roaming home ring toss.

Yeah. Play a game of roaming gnome ring toss. When you've landed a ring on one of the giant hats hiding a gnome, the game attendant will hand you a Travelocity roaming gnome, which will have your next clue.

You must then keep the gnome with you until you reach the pit stop. So Sam and Dan get the gnome first and the clue on there is a detour. Yes.

And Big Easy's like, why don't you just say that Big Easy can ride it? i'm the only one that can't ride this I'm the only one that's over And flight time barely is makes the cutoff. Yeah. he I wonder.

Yeah. And so when back at the detour, those first three teams are there. And Sam and Dan end up filling up their sandbags faster because they don't use a shovel. Yeah, they kind of just like use their hand to pile it in. Yeah.

And so when he doesn't do what she wants, she gets really frustrated.

So those first few teams at the front of the pack start arriving at the roadblock. And I didn't write down what Phil says at this part. um So the roadblock says, who thinks they can spot a needle in a haystack?

This is an amazing race switchback as seen on season six. They're going to do the exact same roadblock. They have to search 186 hay bales for one of only seven race flags.

And this farm is also the pit stop this time. So before they had to like go somewhere else. Yeah. But this one is, it's just right there. Like they can literally see him.

Yeah. It's not even a clue. Yeah. In season six, they had to, it was a clue inside the hay bales, but this one is just little flag. So Sam is going to do the roadblock.

And Megan and Shane are kind of right behind them. And Megan really wants Shane to make the decision. But Shane's like, Megan has been taking the lead this leg. So I wanted her to make the decision. So when Shane didn't say anything, Megan's like, I'll just do it.

Yeah. And she was like, i yeah, she said, I really wanted him to say that he would do it. Yeah. But I feel like at this point she needs to more roadblocks. But this is a really hard one to do. And everybody knows it.

So Sam is doing it and Dan keeps yelling at him from the side. Yes. Like in such an annoying way. Like telling him what to do when it's obvious he knows what he needs to do. Yeah.

And I think before they start or like a little bit into it, Dan um says like they did this on another season and it took her eight hours. And Sam's like, why would you tell me that?

They said, like, they arrived and they're like, the odds are actually more in our favor because there's fewer things that we have to unroll. And Dan was like,

go faster. They're going fast. And Sam's like, cause I've already been here for hours. I've already enrolled a hundred bales and they're just getting here. Yeah. Megan, I think it was even before Brian and Erica and Matt and Gary arrived. She was like starting to get really frustrated and saying, this is the worst thing I've ever done.

And I've been doing this for two hours already. So it does take a long time. I actually did the math. So it's on my other computer. So in 186 hay bales, there's seven flags That means there's one flag in every 26.5 hay bales.

what oh my gosh oh my gosh I love you oh my gosh and so they're team number two and then ah unfortunately the next person to find a flag is Brian yeah so Sam and he searched like the shortest amount of time I think for sure And they're team number three because, like we said, the pit stop's right there. They don't have to navigate to the pit stop. so um So the two people left are Sam and Gary. And Sam's been doing this for the longest of all.

Yeah, probably three hours at this point. Yeah. He sits and he takes a break for a second. Yeah. Dan has kind of had some sort of epiphany. He's like finally calmed down and he's like, I realized that yelling at him is not helping. It's not doing anything.

He's like, I didn't need to be doing that. Why was I doing that? Yeah. Like out loud to himself. So yeah, he like, at this point is very much calmer and Sam reacts a lot better to this. Yeah.

And it was funny because like Dan was yelling at Sam and like, I mean, it wasn't the most encouraging language. He was kind of being annoying about it. And Sam kept saying, stop talking, stop talking.

And Megan was the opposite. She's like, Shane, keep talking to me. Keep encouraging me. Yeah. She's like, tell me what to do next and he's like I don't know but she's like but tell me I don't know what to do he's like open that one yeah so it's very different dynamics but Sam ends up getting the next flag and so they are team number four so that means Gary is the last one and The thing at the bottom says two two hours and 45 minutes has gone by.

and he unrolls a bail and he finally finds a flag. And they check in as team number five. And it's kind of obvious that this is going to be a non-elimination league. Because I feel like if it wasn't, Phil would phil would have told them. onto the field Maybe. I don't know how long they would have let people search this time. um So, they're not eliminated.

It's a non-elimination league. Which I think was a good... timing for non-elimination leg. Yeah. Actually, the trivia for this season said that this is the longest time like between non-elimination legs that they've ever had. Because I think the last one was like one.

And so yeah, I'm glad because Just like the timing with this roadblock, it was just like it is luck and they all worked really hard. and Yeah, it would suck to be eliminated after all that. And Gary kept very positive still. and Yeah. And Matt said, like Phil asked Matt, he's like, what do you think of your dad? And he's like, my dad's a superhero. Mm-hmm.
