Don't be one of the many men who are able to articulate their inner world but not have a clue how to live from it in a healthy way. It's nothing more than distorted fear masquerading as wisdom.

If that's you, it may be time to stop learning more about life and exchange your intellectual wisdom with life experiences that create lasting change.

Introduction and Call to Action

00:00:00
Speaker
Do you have three minutes? Then you have enough time to improve your day. Who knows? Maybe even your life. And if you've got five minutes, then I ask that you pause and go ahead and leave a review. They mean the world to me.

Introducing 'Three Minute Thought'

00:00:12
Speaker
All right, without further ado, let's go ahead and dive into today's three minute thought.

Fear vs. Wisdom: A Reflective Inquiry

00:00:21
Speaker
There are times where fear masquerades as wisdom.
00:00:26
Speaker
So with that said, I actually have a question for you today.

Comfort in Learning vs. Experiencing

00:00:31
Speaker
And that is, are you hiding behind your bookshelf? Let me explain what I mean by that question. See, a lot of us, we find comfort in, quote unquote, learning more about something. So let's just say emotional health. We'll buy book after book or take course after course.
00:00:56
Speaker
and gain more knowledge about something.

Self-Understanding and Emotional Self-Abuse

00:01:00
Speaker
But a lot of times we find the comfort in hiding and just gaining that knowledge rather than feeling our emotions or experiencing our emotions.
00:01:12
Speaker
or growing in the ability to actually love ourselves. Instead, we grow in our ability to understand ourselves while still self abusing the emotional side of what makes us a man. And

The Pitfall of Hiding Behind Knowledge

00:01:28
Speaker
that can be applied to any area of your life.
00:01:33
Speaker
If you find yourself wanting to learn more about a topic before you experience it. Now there's nothing wrong with being a planner and researching a topic and really wanting to get your head around it. I'm talking about there are times where beyond the learning, beyond the planning, beyond the scheduling, you have moved past the healthy side of that and into the hiding side of it.

Fear of Implementation and Identity Embrace

00:01:59
Speaker
where you're unwilling or afraid to actually create the experiences connected to whatever that topic may be. See, a lot of us, we may not want to admit it, but we're afraid to really lean into the implementation side of things. Because if we're in the learning phase or the planning phase and reading more books about a certain topic over and over and over again, but three years later, we're still dealing with the same things,
00:02:29
Speaker
See what it may be is that we're trapped in that learning phase because stepping outside of that and creating experiences and taking risks requires us to actually embrace our true identity rather than to, quote unquote, hide behind our bookshelf, hide behind more knowledge to withhold all of who we are for the sake of finding comfort and logic.

Challenge to Embrace Discomfort for Growth

00:03:00
Speaker
So with that said, it may be time for you to put down your books. And if you say, yeah, well, Josh, I'm never going to do that. It's probably that you're the very person that should even just for a period of time, even if it's just one week, two weeks, three months, six months, whatever it may be, what happens if you put down your books and you stop learning about the topic.
00:03:25
Speaker
and you start stepping into the discomfort that comes from the practical application required to be great in that time.
