As you know, I’M NOT A BARISTA was designed to help baristas in need and make a social impact. Well, if it’s a social impact we’re after then we needed an additional way of sharing the voices of those in the coffee community.

We want to ensure that their voices are heard in many ways and we want to take this opportunity to introduce our new way of sharing stories - audio stories.

Behind the scenes: This Monday, we had a meeting with our content writing interns brainstorming the new way of empowering coffee people, and we came up with the idea of audio stories.

It is different from our regular podcast and coffee articles, it is a new, easier way to share the stories with you. The audio stories are shorter, often less than 5 minutes long and they’re read by our content writers who wrote the stories.

You will hear the voices of our content writers from Africa, The United States, and more. Just like a short bedtime story, are you ready?

Turn up the volume, get your favourite earphones, and listen to our very first audio story from Fausto Russo, story written and read by our new content writer Emma Niro.

Do you often listen to audiobooks? What do you think about our the new audio stories?

Speaker
Coffee Stories, Fausto Russo by Emaniro. Fausto Russo, a Venezuelan coffee consultant, once said that the greatest challenge in his career has been to reach the widest possible public and let them know and experience a good cup of coffee and let them know the story behind that cup.

Speaker
Fausto has taken it upon himself to fix this problem. Step one, listen to everyone's stories. From the baristas to the customers, he believes no one is more important than another in the coffee industry.

Uniting the Coffee Chain

Speaker
Step two, unite all the actors of the coffee chain with an agreement of benefits for all equally. He is a firm believer in equality for all within the industry.

Falling in Love with Coffee on a Farm

Speaker
Today, we will share the story of a man behind many cups of coffee with a penchant for equality and sustainability and how he himself fell in love with the whole process from bean to cup.

Speaker
Fausto's journey into the world of coffee began on a small farm owned by his grandfather in Madeira, Portugal. It was love at first sight. After that initial interaction, Fausto became invested in the entire coffee life cycle and all its characteristics. But the real selling point was witnessing the human relationship behind all the processes, including the relationship that is formed between two people around a good cup of

After this turning point, Fausto studied at the SCAE, joined the organizing committee of the first international meeting of Venezuela specialty coffees, and aided in the development of the first national brewing championship titled Venezuela Brewers Cup.

Presently, Fausto is focused on improving the coffee industry in his home country, Venezuela. He is working on many projects in Venezuela, including a more educational project called Venezuela Coffee Tech. Because of his success, Fausto has been invited to PRF Colombia and may be invited to SCAJ World Specialty Coffee Conference and Exhibition in Tokyo.

When Fausto is not revolutionizing the coffee industry, he is teaching the next generation of coffee lovers.

Promoting Equality and Sustainability

00:02:06
Speaker
Although Fausto is an incredibly successful and brilliant man, why should we share his story? Why does his voice need to be heard? Fausto is a dreamer. He is a man who believes in possibilities. He has faith that the future of the coffee industry is a bright one. Equality is possible. Sustainability will happen. Consumers will begin to care where their coffee is coming from.

Speaker
According to Fausto, they have already begun to wonder who is the face behind that cup.

Embracing Passion and Sustainability

00:02:35
Speaker
Fausto once said, put fear aside, have passion and love, and always focus on sustainability in the medium and long term. So put your fear aside, have faith, believe in every cup of coffee, be hopeful about the future. If this man who is behind many cups of coffee can see the bright side in this industry and the good in all who are working in it, why can't you?
