Hi! Hi! Hi, everyone. Welcome back to Since Rookie Season. We're very excited today to be talking about Ember and Ice. We have a friend from our Discord, Ollie, here today. I'm so excited to be here. Never done anything like this, so um'm i'm I'm jazzed.
00:00:58
Speaker
Yeah, no, Ollie, go ahead, give us a little bit of information about yourself, introduce yourself, go through all the things. My name is Ollie, I use all pronouns, any and all, whatever, so i say dealer's choice. And try to think of something fun about myself. I'm currently studying slowly to become a public librarian and I work in the library system. So it has been very fun actually seeing the uptick of Rachel Reed books that go through our system. that' it's been It's been great. But yeah, that's my vibe, I

Heated Rivalry and Fandom Influence

00:01:32
Speaker
guess. i
00:01:33
Speaker
got into Heated Rivalry through just the timeline. I kept seeing books. the one specific like image of Shane on top of Ilya in like episode five and I was like you know what and you know what you know what I'll watch it I'll give it a shot and then like by episode two I was like I'm obsessed like absolutely I'm knee deep in it now But yeah, I've kind of known about the books for a little bit because mean, we have Rachel read books at work and like I kind of heard about her. But since then, I have read nearly all the books. I haven't read Long Game yet because I don't want to stop. I don't want my experience with the books to end yet. Oh, no. no spoilers about that today. have it. It's literally like right over there on my shelf. It's just it's waiting for me. But Lauren, I'm looking at you. No spoilers for all of you. gosh, stop. Wait. Okay. Hold on. I've gotten a few.
00:02:28
Speaker
But I've tried to keep it to a minimum. Good, good, good. Okay, great. So, Ali, we've been trying to figure out this whole season of the pod about what makes Heated Rivalry, like, so addictive. So I'm wondering what you think makes it addictive. Do you feel that, like, the books and the TV series are equally addictive? Do you have a preference?
00:02:51
Speaker
Get into it. I have been thinking about this question literally all week since you you sent me the outline. And I was like... Because what is it? Like, what actually is it? And I think i think there's a multitude of answers, you know? I think for me personally, i was really drawn in by like the themes of just like queer joy and queer hope. that was It's always very important to me to have that kind of media.
00:03:15
Speaker
So I was like, oh, I love a a love story that isn't super sad and like depressing. all I mean, it has its moments, trust. so true But to just see like a hopeful story, to be like, love like this exists not only in front in between these characters, but in between the actors and the way Rachel loves the series she wrote and Jacob loves the work he's done on the show. It's like such a product of love And I was like, actually, this day and age, it's it was it's such a light in in the the bleakness. Yes. So hopeful. And really attached that to that, I think. No, for sure. I think that's definitely something we've talked about a lot. Like, we've talked about it as, like, ah a corrective experience and also ah a collective experience. And I think it's it definitely um drives us forward to make it even more addictive every time I pick it up or re-watch it. The fan base doesn't help. It just keeps going. ah yeah I mean, sometimes, like, I don't know, last week with all the racism stuff, I was kind of like, that is true. It hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows recently. yeah But anyway. Yeah, it's been a week. Yeah, for sure. For sure. time and do you feel do you feel like the books and the TV series are equally addictive to you or you have a preference? This is great. Because I don't know. i think I'm biased to the books because work at a library, i love to read. It's kind of in my nature.
00:04:51
Speaker
I think I'm biased, but I do think Heated Rivalry is such a credible adaptation of a source material that I almost kind of like the show more. Like, I've rewatched the show like a dozen times by this point, and I haven't reread the books yet, so I do keep going back to

Quinn App and Audio Erotica Exploration

00:05:10
Speaker
it.
00:05:10
Speaker
Okay, for sure. Yeah, no, I mean, I i was like, when and when was the last time I reheated? And it was probably like when we watched The Cottage. Yeah. And I was like, wait, that was so long ago. I need to reheat again. and i I literally watched last night. I watched episodes four through six last Amazing. Amazing. I love this. Okay, so now we're moving into our theme.
00:05:34
Speaker
of the day, which is Ember and Ice and Queen. And Oli, we invited you because you have been a Queen user pre-Hitted Rivals, right? Yeah. So we really wanted someone who knew the platform, not because they were like anything, anything Hutcon related I'm going to consume. Someone who knew this. So how did you find this app? Yeah. So I think I was most, like most everyone on TikTok a lot. in the pandemic and I saw a lot of the like promotional material they did about like this woman owned queer friendly audio erotica brand and I was like oh that's cool but I didn't really have any particular drive to get it yet this was probably like 2023 or something
00:06:22
Speaker
And i I didn't get it until i think it was 2025 when Jamie Campbell Bauer did his original. And I was like, okay.
00:06:33
Speaker
Oh, I heard about that. Now I'm curious. What Quinn, y'all? I have no idea. i've never experienced it. so So Quinn is a fun little app for your phone where it is just like, it's a Spotify-like database of autoerotica creators. And since, think since the beginning of the app, they have done these like celebrity collaborations to that do original erotic stories, usually three to four episodes.
00:07:05
Speaker
as like the big Queen originals. and like We've got like Andrew Scott did one, Jamie Campbell Bower, Hudson and Connor obviously. The one guy from The Summer I Turned Pretty, I don't really like him, but he's there. I think Manny Jacinto did one. yeah i I haven't gotten to that one yet, but I i adore that man.
00:07:25
Speaker
Yeah, and I'm excited for it. Jessie Williams, too. Oh, yes. Yeah. So they've gotten a couple big names, and the names are only getting bigger. um So, yeah. But it's I discovered it just through the timeline, but I didn't buy it for a couple years And then Jamie Campbell Bauer was announced as their next Quinn original. And I know him from Shadowhunter days. Like I have been, oh I love this guy. We've talked about Cassandra Clare on this a podcast before. what ah What a series. What a series.
00:08:01
Speaker
it's ah Yeah. So I saw that he was doing it and I was like, no, there's no way. Like what is, what is it? What is this even doing? i don't believe it when I hear it. Yeah. And then I heard it.
00:08:13
Speaker
And then you were like, oh! ah You really got him slurping in the microphone like that. Right. For lack of a better term, sorry. Well, because it's like, it's mostly like self-insert, right? Like, it's kind of like the person on the audio the other end of the audio is like doing things to you as the reader. Yes. Most, I would say most of the Quinn content, originals and otherwise, is like what they call direct-to-listener, but there are also some like ah Hudson and Connor stories that are kind of a ah contained, more like an audiobook that you're kind of just listening to.
00:08:51
Speaker
yeah so Yeah, and there's a lot of user-submitted content as well. So like if anyone put content on there, and but like there is like the Purdue stuff as well, which I think is really cool, but I have explored some of the user-submitted stuff, and there's some interesting stuff out there. like I was like, I did not know that this was a thing. i didn't know that was an option. that's ah Yeah. It was not for me, but that's all right. I'm not the intended audience, but there's some interesting stuff on there. Yeah. And frankly, i love I love how wide of like a net it casts.
00:09:24
Speaker
And one of my favorite things about it, if there's anything about me, I love a website that has tags in like a tagging system and good organization. i love the tagging system. It's so handy. Fandom people like tags? That's crazy. That's fucking crazy. I have been, it's the same reason I've been in AO3 Die Hard since the beginning of time. i love their tagging system.
00:09:46
Speaker
Love it. But Quinn has a very similar tagging system where you'll go to like their search page and then it has like every pink fetish trope in alphabetical order. And there's just like, it's it's gorgeous. And it's just, you could literally just pick and choose like whichever ones you want. You have a wide variety to pick from. And I'm like, I saw that. I was like, okay. And you know what? I'm sold. on that one You got a good UI. could search stuff and find stuff so easily. it's all I need. It's all I need. Okay. So do you have like a favorite, like favorite Quinn story? Like so far... Which one? So for the originals of the ones I've listened to, i love, again, Jimmy Campbell Bowers, but he just did a part two They brought him back on because we couldn't get enough, which is fair. and we called It's called The Trials Winter Solstice, and I just listened to that the other day, and I was like, this is my favorite thing on this planet, actually. I thought that was incredible. I also recently listened to Morally Gray, which, oh god, I don't remember the guy's name.
00:10:52
Speaker
Did it. But I thought his voice acting was incredible and remarkably realistic, as it always is. ah what's his name? Costa D'Angelo. He did a really great one as well. Okay, awesome. What do you like?
00:11:07
Speaker
Like, what is, like, what it, like, keeps bringing you back to Quinn? Like, what is, like, what draws you in? Like, why do you like it as, like, we're calling it, like, a book consumption media because it, like, kind of is audiobook-y. It's stories. But I know it's, like, mostly audio erotica. But, like, what keeps bringing you back to it? That's a good question. Um...
00:11:29
Speaker
I like it's I think it's because it's a different experience than than consuming most other media and it had it triggers like you know different sensory parts of your brain and I think that's really fun I think we like I know personally I spent so much time staring at things and never like hearing things so when I have the chance I'm putting my headphones on and and I'm listening to something okay i get this it's more fun I think it's not more fun necessarily I advocate for every media is fun in its own right.
00:12:04
Speaker
I don't want to start a fight. But I do think it is it's different. It's more enjoyable to me because it is different from the other forms of media that i consume. Yeah, for sure. but There's also a lot of really good sapphic content. and it's It's hard to find good sapphic content. yes so Yeah, that's hard to find. There's creators of like every gender making audios for every gender. It is magical. yeah That's kind of cool. Because I like, I mean, like, I don't love Quinn. Like, we'll get into this in a little, I'm sure we'll get into this. But like, I don't love being read to or like, audiobooks. Like, that's just like, really hard for me to like, consume. But when I think about like, like consuming like erotica in some shape or form. um Like Belisa, which is a like pornography website, yeah they have a lot of

Ember and Ice Storyline Analysis

00:12:55
Speaker
Sofic content. And they have like a lot of erotica books, too, that are Sofic-based because it's also woman-owned. didn't know that. It's cool. yeah, i think there's definitely a drive for more of that material like now. yeah yeah And we're going to put that on the show notes, right, Lauren? Yeah. Yes, Bellisa is, ah they also have a really great sex shop.
00:13:17
Speaker
Yes, yes, they do. and I have been, I've been a user of Bellisa for many years. And there was some Florida law that passed a little while ago, where that like you have to be, you have to go through some age verification bullshit. um And I had to do that. and it's really annoying. And they put a bunch of stuff behind a paywall because it's a whole thing with like minors and laws and whatever, which is totally understandable and so valid. And I get it. just makes it harder for me as an adult to be like, please, I just want to visit this site. i don't let me in it's not just florida it's a part of the fosta and sesta which are like fighting online sex trafficking and stopping online sex trafficking laws in the united states that that have like very specifically cracked down especially on like porn sites and gotten rid of things like craigslist back like back Backpages.com, gotten rid of like Craigslist personals, like has really negatively impacted like sex work online sex work. And this is why OnlyFans a couple of years ago was like, oh, we're going to make the shift to like only like not having erotic content. We're only going to do like actual celebrities and their fans, like a cameo type platform. And everybody was like, um sex workers built your platform. a fuck up But yeah, a lot of that, like a lot of the like wall stuff that is like an age verification is because of that. But then like Facebook has like.
00:14:39
Speaker
I don't know, like 20 or 30 million like posts every year of like child pornography. And they're like cracking down on like porn websites, which like don't really. yeah So think you got the wrong problem here, but you know, whatever. Sure, government. It's fine.
00:14:57
Speaker
I think that is not a great segue. but it is a segue of some type it's a segue it's definitely something it's it's definitely something um so talking about ember and ice um so for our viewers who don't know what ember and ice is it is quinn original that hudson williams and connor's story voiced for quinn it is I've heard that Ember and Ice was a Holonov fanfiction, like was a Hollander-Ilya fanfiction, and then became the Quint original story. I don't know how true that is. Like, we didn't really get lot much background. It's three episodes right now. Supposedly the books are a trilogy, The Ember and Ice episode only answered the first book. It is a story about two fairy princes. Hudson voices Finn, who is the Lunare crown prince. He's very responsible, very serious, very strict. And then...
00:16:02
Speaker
Connor voices Dane, who is the prince of the Solare. He's definitely a fuckboy, loves to party, loves to have fun. And they enter into a heated rivalry romance that is secretive. They are on opposite sides of a war. And they are still meeting in person in the dead of night to have weird fairy sex. Well, they're not meeting up during the war.
00:16:28
Speaker
They're not meeting up during the war. let's Yeah, yeah, A beautiful story before the Yes, no, they, like, they like god together before the war, and then the war happened, and they didn't see each other, and then they, like, went right back to fucking after the war, and then... Wasted no time.
00:16:43
Speaker
All of Hudson's, or all of Finn's courtiers tried to kill all of the Solare, basically, at the end, and... Yeah, here we are. Yeah, and...
00:16:54
Speaker
Everything starts because Zane is such a fuckboy, such a drunk, such a partyboy that he is sent to the Lunari so Finn can be a good example. Yes. yeah yeah and rub on him They certainly rub off on something. but He's gonna rub off on something.
00:17:14
Speaker
We need our good Lunar-ed boy. That's right,
00:17:20
Speaker
us, right? Our young son. So the first episode is voiced by Hudson, and then the second is by Connor, and then the third is by Hudson. they Episodes one and two kind of tell the backstories leading up to the war. And then episode three culminates with the war ending and kind of the like partying celebration directly after that. So it is very short.
00:17:44
Speaker
Did we all consume this or did we, did some of us not listen to it? I did. I think we all did. I think we all did. Okay, great. no I've listened to it. I think sometimes.
00:17:56
Speaker
Okay. t well one in One in preparation for this. The other two on my personal time. Okay. yeah Yeah, I listened to it when I came out and then I listened to it yeah this past weekend leading up recording because I was like, I need a refresher. Yeah, no, I had to remember some stuff. So I literally I took notes. It's not even funny. well I just listened to it once because my money. Yes. I was like, I literally bought the subscription just to listen to this. And as soon as I was done, I canceled it. Yeah, no, I waited until the third episode came out and then just bought the subscription for one month, listened to all of them, and then was like, this is, like, I knew going in that I wasn't going to like Quinn really as a platform just because I'm not, like, an audiobook person. So I was very much like, I'm just gonna do it as soon as the third episode comes out and then kind of go from there. It was definitely spicy, for sure. like Yeah. like i and i think like the reason why i like wanted to listen to it was because everybody was like hudson keeps moaning and this and i i remembered his little baby bones from heated rivalry and i was like i need to hear that and four k in 4k in my ears um and actually yeah 100 the only reason i sought this out was to listen to hudson moan in my ears And you know what? Worth it. Yeah, he he does moan. He moans. i God was a moan. Hello, bottom boy.
00:19:23
Speaker
but After the first time I listened to it, I think I posted on my Tumblr, like, and if I say that this is Hudson's best performance yet, what then? i This is too realistic.
00:19:37
Speaker
I remember telling y'all everyone in the discord like is he a woman who has to fake orgasms to mediocre men? Or how did he learn to moan that good for like a night?

Fantasy and Cultural References in Erotica

00:19:54
Speaker
No, T, Husen, what's your story? You know what, actually? a great point i was like how how no literally like the moaning like sold it for me and then when i was like okay the moaning is over now all right bye yeah i think i'm just also like very much not into like fairy content like That's fair. I'm not too much either. i used to be, but... Yeah, like, like I understand the appeal of romanticcy. Like, I love Geralt of Rivia, and I consume all of the Witcher content. Like, it's crack cocaine. But... You know what? Yeah. Just injected straight into my veins. But like, I am like so anti-fey in real life just because of like them being like- I assume you are the author of the note in the outline that says, can we stop with the fucking fairy content? Jesus Christ, the fay are not our friends. Yes, that's me. Okay. Yeah, I don't get it.
00:21:06
Speaker
I don't get it. I don't understand it. I've read content that is like like, I love the Maximum Ride novels from by James Patterson where they're like, genetically engineered hybrids with wings like i love that kind of fun but the fairy stuff to me is like why are you like opening yourself to like being tricked by fairies having them steal your children ah why do you have a well a map that says welcome in front of your door you're just letting yeah into your house like i don't i don't get the appeal either i don't get the appeal i don't understand Last reference to Faye is from Shadowhunters as well. And... We're just going to only talk about Shadowhunters, actually. That's terrifying. don't want to set a foot on that realm ever. And my other reference is Tinkerbell in Peter Pan. So... Ooh. She's so sassy. She's so, like...
00:22:10
Speaker
I love her. I respect them, but do I want to be with them? I don't know. Yeah, no, like, I like i respect them. I respect their boundaries. We are going to have a boundary between us and the other world. Like, hello, the veil is there for reason. I'm okay. shutting the door we're all right no exactly like i love i love elves because i love lord of the rings and they're kind of like and the legoness but like probably the only like ah reason why i would cross that boundary no not even like oh yeah like lost his dad actually so funny fuck like a loss like lost is dad dad
00:22:54
Speaker
ah Yeah, right? And you should say it. And you know what? Eowyn? Or not Eowyn, Arwen? I haven't spent enough time to and to know the the reference, to know the dude. ah It's crazy, because Amanda went to New Zealand, and I was like, are you going to the Hobbit place? And Amanda was like, I've never seen Lord of the Rings. And I was like, yep okay, all right. Oli, I don't know how old you are, but Amanda is a baby. So...
00:23:22
Speaker
is samantha Amanda's i will be this
00:23:29
Speaker
I'm 14 and I am so excited to be here. i am actually fourteen sorry yeah am going to show i am actually fourteen and we're talking about erica on this book fourteen and i am so excited ah No, exactly. Got basketball practice after school.
00:23:56
Speaker
and See, I just don't have the same cultural references. I don't think it has to do with age. I think it's just consume different fantasy. Yes. Yeah, but like Lord of the Rings is like the original fantasy.
00:24:08
Speaker
Like everything comes from it. i Yeah, and I get that. And also it's very daunting. And the last time that we tried to watch it, you got upset that I asked questions. Amanda, you can watch it with me. i will answer all your questions.
00:24:23
Speaker
Wait, did we watch the first one? I don't even remember. They were traumatized. Poor Amanda was traumatized. So, anyway... Let's talk about Ember and Ice. ok So, Amanda, would you remind us a bit about the structure of the story? Like, how it begins, what happens? I know Oli and you have been, like, consuming it more recently than Lauren and I, so... You had quite the night, Oli! You reheated, you relistened... Reheated. Listen to her eyes. I got off work and I was like time to lock in on Samia.
00:25:03
Speaker
Did you have to like charge every s toy in your house? do You know what? And you know what happens. Maybe so. That's so real. the sural Yeah, so i can I can go over the the story a bit more in detail. So it starts off with Finn in the woods, and he's just like on guard duty or whatever, and he starts reminiscing about how the trail that he's on was actually used to connect the two kingdoms, and His and Dane's kingdoms because they were like really good friends after the previous war so He there's a bit of time fuckery here and there's a couple time jumps that happen so basically there was a Pre-war I'll call it when Finn and Dane were kids and they They don't remember a whole lot, but they were kids when it was resolved So like they were all good and then they grew up like visiting each other like seeing maybe Occasionally seeing one another and then they have like a formal interaction and like introduction when Dane is late to like some banquet or something and Finn gives him shit for it and they like kind of chirp at each other and Dane teaches Finn a lesson about assuming things where he's like, oh, I was in bed and Finn's like, oh, like you're so tired, like something, something that you can't even keep up with whatever and Dane's like, I didn't say I was sleeping and like that's really funny because that's just so, I just found funny. Or alone. That's very that's very like Las Vegas. like
00:26:28
Speaker
episode two like where yeah we're on in five seconds like yes and there's there there there are lot i like like are lots of parallels i was like is these he did rivalry fan fiction and you know you know what mean yeah I was getting lots of Shane and Ilya vibes from from parts of this, especially on parts of Hudson's acting. I was getting slick some of the Shane deadpan, and I really appreciated that. yeah yeah yeah and So they have these like years of peace for for whatever, and as we mentioned, Dane goes to, which it was Dane's idea apparently, like when we get in the second episode, a bit of Dane's perspective, and it was his he like plants the idea in his father's head that he should go to the Lunari to learn how to be like a better person or whatever. But he really just wants to go fuck around with Finn and like figure out what that's all about. because he's a little crushed. He's a little crushed. And he's like, you know what I haven't hit yet? Let me go hit that. And that was his goal. And so he hops over there for the summer. they Originally, they butt heads. They're... angst against each other, at least in this summer section.
00:27:35
Speaker
Dane is hooking up with some ambassador, and his room is right across from Finn's. And they're hooking up, and it's disrupting Finn's precious beauty sleep. And so he goes and bangs on the door. Dane answers the door butt-ass naked because he's in the middle of fucking. And Finn is deer in a head like, oh my god. But he instead just...
00:27:55
Speaker
yeah He really insults Dayden and says that like just because your future isn't worth anything doesn't mean you can fuck up mine, basically, is the TLDR. Which, like, damn. And that kills the vibe. to say Yeah, yeah. Because he's like not even the spare. He's like 10th in line for the throne, and like after the dog, basically. said, the dog?
00:28:15
Speaker
la they said the dog I literally put in the outline like Finn, Lunari Crown Prince, Hudson. And then it was like, Dane, not even the spare Prince of Solari, Connor. Yeah.
00:28:31
Speaker
yeah Yeah, because he's so far beyond beyond the throne. It's not even an idea in his future. So Finn it really like plays into that and gives him shit for it, which Dane's little like, I don't know that he's self-conscious about it, but he certainly has feelings about it. um The fact that his father doesn't like even know his name, doesn't even really understand him or know him. And so so Finn gives him shit and they have some beefs. So the next day, like they're supposed to be like doing princely duties or whatever. Dane is like kind of plotting. He's like, I'm going to leave. you know This isn't worth it anymore. like i'm having i'm not I came to have a good time. I'm honestly feeling so attacked right now. So he's like plotting to leave. But then as a last resort, he gets Finn to have fun and they go flying. And they have like this great time soaring in the sun. Dane sees Finn really like let go and like smile for the first time and laugh. And it's a really cute moment. And then they land in the woods and they are going to go like swimming in like a pond or a lake or something. Yeah.
00:29:23
Speaker
and Dane gets hard because, or no dan no, Finn gets hard because Dane is naked, at which like the the way that they describe or the way that Finn describes Dane's butt was so given Connor. This was given ah the the shower scene so bad.
00:29:41
Speaker
like yes well and they even say because it it progresses and eventually they start like blowing each other they start like getting into some sexy stuff and basically finn stops he's like taken out of it and he's like wait basically says not here essentially there was there were some more words when he was like what i got of it what i heard was not here which is you know the only words of the shower scene in the show which there's more words in the book but whatever but Yeah, so then they go back to the castle and they start properly hooking up and it's a whole thing. There's a whole scene in that summer, which again, the time is a little wonky. So like they jump back and forth at different points throughout each episode referring to the summer. There's a certain scene where Finn is reading applications for wives because that's a whole thing where at one point Dane is like, oh, would you ever, you know, like, why don't you have a wife yet? Like, would you ever take on a a wife for your heir? He's like, i don't know, like, whatever my father picks for me. And that's where Dane is like, okay, bro has to be gay because what the hell do you mean? Like, i don't know. Ain't no way. Yeah. I thought that was also so funny because that is giving, it was giving, like, the rose, like, do you like kissing me? He's like, yeah, it's fine. It's giving, like, do you like them? Sure.
00:30:58
Speaker
girls
00:31:02
Speaker
like that's what that's doing do you like kissing me sure sure Yeah, like it was very much that. So they have that conversation and they have a bit of the like, what are we like? We can even have a future together. So i don't know. That was some some struggle. They have that whole summer. And then all of a sudden they were sleeping. They were not fucking. They were sleeping. But there's a whole commotion across the hall and the Lunari were coming for Dane. They were going to like kidnap him and prison him because all of a sudden, oh, there's a war because the Solari are encroaching on the Lunari land and they want like the fertile land and but they were allies but now they're like kind of pushing further and they're not really being equals you don't do that to your allies yeah that's hilarious you don't do that to your allies so they're coming for dane because they want to kill him or prison him or whatever and because he's in finn's room finn helps like get him out the window and he like flies away basically and runs off and helps him escape And so there's like a very clear moment where he has to decide like, do I go with what my father probably wants or do I go with what my heart says? And that means saving lied nine now my enemy and then in an instant it changes to enemy. So then they have this war for five years where the Solari are like just brutally killing all the Lunarii. Like they're fighting and fighting and both Finn and Dayne are on the front lines. And that's the only time they see each other. And Finn is like really hating Dayne. He's like, I fucking hate him and he's killing my people. And I'm gonna, I used to hold him and now I have to kill him. His stupid fucking face.
00:32:32
Speaker
This is really the enemies to lovers. Like, we talked, like, early in Heated Rivalry about how it's just a rivalry story. This is enemies to lovers. This is, like, I want to kill you and your family. This is rivals to lovers, to enemies, to lovers, to enemies, to lovers. To lovers. Exactly. And exactly. Yeah. And meanwhile, during the war, it's that whole audio of, like, dancing like a ballerina. You know what I'm talking about? Just off in a field.
00:33:02
Speaker
Yeah, that's day where he's like fucking killing people and he's because that's the one thing he's good at is being at war because he is so far from the throne that he can risk himself and he can fight and so he becomes good at that and actually becomes worthwhile to his father. He has like some nickname like the the bane of I don't know they gave him some name. He's like some menace. So yeah, they they're fighting, and then all of a sudden Finn comes in. We get Finn's POV, and he's got a missive from his dad that they're now at peacetime. Yay! I don't know how or why. This is so men-coded, because it's like, we're going to start, like, a fucking war over you guys walking on my yard, and, like, we're going to end it over a text message. Like, this is so, this is so United States Department of War-coded. Yeah. Yeah. it's
00:33:50
Speaker
To me, i was like, which is a whole rant. Once I get over the recap, I will have thoughts on the plot. But yeah, so they basically, the war is over, which everyone's like really bitter about. at least Finn's bitter about it because they've just been fighting. And for what? They just lost land and like all of his people died. And now the the Solari just gets to celebrate and party and drink. Because so now, which they made the losers.
00:34:12
Speaker
They made the Lunare walk like the whole way over and everyone's already drunk, they're celebrating, it's a whole thing. Which, like okay, whatever. Finn and Dane have like quips against each other. like Dane was trying to be friendly, but Finn gives him hell because he's pissed, as he should be. He's rightfully pissed. And so they're kind of beefing, but they make up. They have the like nobles come barging into Finn's room and they're like, we're going to stage a coup. And we're going to do this and that because we disagree with the war. And Finn's like, yes, I disagree with that, but that doesn't mean I want to start another war. and But he doesn't know how to say that to them because they're literally holding swords and he's in his PJs, in his little button-up PJs. Little bunny slippers.
00:34:49
Speaker
Yeah, but with the bunny slippers. And they're like holding swords like, we're going to save Jakku. And he's like, all right, like placating them. They're like, we'll wait for your signal. And he's like, you ain't getting no signal. But he's trying to warn Dane the next day. They're essentially, it's like a skills competition. That's what I was reading it as. It was a race, I think. Yeah, it's a race, but I, in heated rivalry terms... Okay, see what you're saying. They're at the MLH All-Stars game the next day. so Finn wants to like warn Dana, be like, yo The nobles are trying to start shit again, they're like stirring the pot, but Dane is like, I'm not having- Oh, because also they had like made dessert the night before. he made Dane made this like buttered cinnamon whatever toast, and Dane's like, would you ever love me again? yeah He made him a tuna melt. He made him a tuna melt. First of all, exactly, tuna melt scene. Second of all, the way he- he drive Dane is incredible.
00:35:44
Speaker
and The way he asks, do you think you could love me again? Makes me want to eat bricks. yeah that was the line of all time and then i think finn says something like it doesn't matter if i could love you again i have to get married and then it's like well rose ok i have to go date rose landry oh no no and that's why when they when finn's trying to talk to him at the race date's like i i thought you didn't love me i thought you didn't love me that's why i will listen to you and i'm just gonna fly and fly yeah think it's i'm gonna win the race if i make may make a separate reference it's very much giving persibeth fighting before the chariot races and then like you're just trying to distract me percy when percy's like no yeah it's very much giving that persibeth of it all it all comes back to it It all comes back to Persebeth. Every single time. It all comes back to Persebeth. The greatest love story ever told. Yeah. Yeah. Finn ends up tackling Dane in the air while they're racing. And it's this whole thing. And yeah, the noble thing, that's a signal, which it's the opposite. It's not. But they are like about to start fighting. And Finn is like, everybody quiet. And andd he makes this whole statement where he's like, actually, fuck you guys, we're not fighting back because of this whatever political bullshit. because Like, the soldiers don't respect the nobles and the the soldiers don't respect the nobles because the nobles didn't fight so they're all gonna be beefing and he's like, basically, you have a head start. I will come find you in three days. like You will begin coughing in three days. And so the nobles, like, take off. Like, and literally, before Finn's done talking, there's just dust. And so they leave and everyone's like, woo, okay, like, back to partying and, like, they're about to resume it and then he's like, actually...
00:37:29
Speaker
One more thing. Daddy, I love him. ah Daddy, I love him. Yeah, he's like, yeah, because it had been announced earlier that Finn was to marry this Solari cousin. This like whatever girl who's like off at school, which I'm like, wait, if they're in their mid 20s, why is she at school? This is giving age difference. No, Amanda, we're talking about school, school like college. You know, she's an educated woman. Oh, that could be true. I thought it was giving like finishing school.
00:37:58
Speaker
Do fairies go to college? I thought they just went to like the school of hatred for humans and moral and brain. What does the Fae education system look like? Are there Fae doctorates?
00:38:12
Speaker
What are their degrees? What are their degrees? Do they have master's degrees? Perhaps do like an exchange program. Right? don't want to fucking go there. You can't eat when you're there. because Not for you, Lauren. For our students. ah ah Well, also, maybe I do want to be stuck there because honestly, anywhere's better than here. you know?
00:38:35
Speaker
and That's right. And that's not all bad. Let's go. Actually, hey, fans. I am sure they don't use ChatGTBD to submit assignments, so.
00:38:49
Speaker
and No, no. Lau and I, we're about to go start the first fairy college. It'll be in an actual ivory Who will be first student? Sign me up. Take all my money. I'll be in debt. It's okay.
00:39:06
Speaker
It's fine. It's fine. Yeah, so Finn has this large declaration of love, and he's like, actually, I'm gonna marry a Solari prince. And they're like, alright, cool. Heir who? Which I think they would just name like someone else. Like a niece or nephew or a cousin. Or someone else. An heir. Sure, whatever. um Which I'm also curious about the politics of how that is gonna shake out.
00:39:24
Speaker
But yeah, it's this whole thing, and everyone is just like suddenly cool with it. Well, he looks at his dad, and he's like, if you don't say yes to this, I'm gonna start another war.

Realism in Fantasy Erotica

00:39:32
Speaker
it was crazy which is fucking wild but ah man yeah can i say it again man yeah so they go with it and they go back to their revelry and then that's like we maybe we get one more scene of their happily ever after and that's kind of listen if he doesn't start a war in order to marry you does he even love you is even worth it does he even do better like no he doesn't this i i just felt like the end was very anticlimactic like i was like yes yeah it was so rushed in the last like 15 minutes i was like why couldn't you guys have made it four episodes and exactly thank you for that lovely breakdown amanda let's talk about the erotica in it let's talk about the right the hawk to uh the yeah i skipped over some of that yeah the yeah because yeah it's audio erotica we obviously have to talk about the erotica Absolutely. We have the wings that we respond. See, this is this is where I have... This is where I can't get behind a lot of fantasy erotica. Is it comfortable for a person with wings to lay on their back? right I need more lore. I thought about this the whole time.
00:40:40
Speaker
was like, does it hurt? Or like how do they like flatten almost? So it's, I don't know. Also, like what are their wings made out of? like Are they like bones? and anyway How big are they? If they're butterflies, it's powdery. So every single time you let lay down, oh you make it numb.
00:41:01
Speaker
No. And they're like so well. imagine like touching like butterfly wigs that are like human sized that I didn't like. It has to be like cartilage, right? Like your eyelids? So when I read, actually one of my favorite like avian crossover fics is a Galahad Eggsy fic from Kings of...
00:41:23
Speaker
And it's a soulmate fic and it's avian. and But there're they have like feathered wings. Yeah. And they like tuck them and like keep them behind their backs.
00:41:34
Speaker
But also, yeah, does it hurt lay on your wings? I mean, does it hurt to lay front when you have boobs? It does. Yes, it does. But one doesn't. and Good point. sometimes Right. And like sometimes his like wings are like stretching out and like going around Dane. And so I'm just like, how big are they? Yeah. I also need to know about their magic. What's his wig span?
00:41:59
Speaker
Because, like, the pictures the from, like, the promo, they're tiny little fucking. They're so small. That's he's not gonna carry a whole ass man. body No, no, no, no. And I've seen fan art, and the wings are massive. And I'm just, that's a lot of moving parts during sex that, like... And if the wings are responding yeah to... Yeah! The wings are an active participant. yeah So, i but I feel like we did not get enough of like proportion. Yeah, I need more world building.
00:42:29
Speaker
yeah we know We know how big he is, we know well how great he looks, but we don't know what how how what the size of wings are. And I think we should know. If you're gonna use the wings as an active member of the erotica part, you really need to solve these kind of questions. For the tisms in your... For the tisms. I feel like somebody's probably broken down fairy porn positions on the internet somewhere. There's some Redditor out there that's done it all. Yeah, for ACOTAR. I'm sure we could just apply that. So, listeners, if you have any input on the mathematics, the physics, the anatomy of this whole thing. But why are they like a penis when they touch them?
00:43:12
Speaker
okay this is like why did i respond like that are they like a sexual organ are they just like sensitive because maybe like you know like when they your ear gets licked it's like a whole thing so maybe it's like that when they're touched but also like they're always they like tremble and i'm like yeah why are you why you have like a penis on your back like i don't understand i think it functions differently than a penis no i think it functions exactly like a penis so that's what So listeners, again, are your team wings are like penises or do you think they're a different organ? Thank you.
00:43:47
Speaker
yeah i'll put it in the whole ones bye bye you know who could say and you know what who could say who could say so i mean no professional no like i i really need lauren to go on threads and create a survey i'll do it right now i need people i need i need to know i need to know it how we're all reading this because I need to know what the people think. know every single thing people think about heated rivalry because they say it. So now I need your input on Ember and Ice.
00:44:21
Speaker
The wings. Yeah. No, exactly. Gotta ask the community. Back to the porn. Right. Beyond the wings. um I will say that I was like listening to this and I was about to go on a date and I was like, what am I like? What am I doing? Like this is a crazy pregame. It was a crazy pregame. I was like, this is hordy. This is hordy as fuck. What episode were you in? Because I personally. The first episode. Yeah, I personally think the first episode is the hottest. one
00:44:53
Speaker
yeah Yes. I think the first episode is the best of all them. I agree. The second episode has the weird threesome in it. Yeah. But, okay. I think we need it. But wait, wait, wait.
00:45:04
Speaker
I have to explain to our listeners about how these work, especially if you haven't, like, listened to Quinn before. Like, basically, when we say it's audio erotica, you're getting, like, all of the noises. The fully acting knitting is acting. The fully acting is is doing... and You get them. It's doing...
00:45:22
Speaker
Yes, you get the every sound. ah You get the... You get the... You get the... They slurping. You get the... They're eating ramen back there. Yeah. but And you also get, like, the forest noises, which was like... Because... I'm sorry.
00:45:42
Speaker
Walking in the forest is crazy. It's crazy to me. he's reading the applications for wives, you can hear the paper. Yeah. Yeah.
00:45:54
Speaker
I had to get up. don think I'm sorry. I'm sweating. Me too. No, literally, like, you can hear everything. So it's not like, and that's when the storytelling kind of goes away. and so it's just the noises. Like, you'll get a couple lines, and then you get a bunch of noises, and then you get a couple of lines. The one thing that I really hated about this is a lot of it was, like, fade to black in the sex Yeah.
00:46:23
Speaker
Like, I felt like what you got one sex scene per episode and that was it And then I had to hear about this shitty fucking story the rest of the time. Yeah. I had to hear about fave politics. I don't want to hear about fave politics. I had to hear about fave politics, which is not the reason I'm consuming this. Yeah, they like would start the they would start the sex they would start the scene but they would never like finish the whole thing like like they would be like ah getting it going and then they'd be like oh afterwards when they were on no and that's like oh which is why which is why we have so many questions about they have so many questions about the wings. Do they fly while they have sex? Oh
00:47:04
Speaker
I bet they could. i bet Dane would. i mean, Lester de Leoncourt and Louis Dupont-Dulac floated the first time that they were, like, sucking each other's blood, why can't Finn and Dane fuck in the air? Do the same.
00:47:19
Speaker
and I'm just confused overall. about I also, yeah I wanted more world building. I wanted more lore. I wanted to know more about the magic. I thought the plot was very, it was it like Finn was not upset enough. Like it was very colonizer, which I didn't love. Like it was yeah just like, yeah, the politics were bad, but I also had a question where are their mothers? They're talking so much about their fathers and like the King and stuff. I'm like, where are their moms? Dane mentions that his, his nursemaid and I'm like, okay, but where is your mom? Yeah.
00:47:49
Speaker
We've literally established that the people this fucking country, these fucking countries don't know how to do shit because it's all men. Having like a woman there would make too much, it would make the story make sense. It would solve the war. i would solve the war. Right? Like, if they were really, really gonna, gonna, like, heated rivalry fanfic with it, I'm like, why wouldn't Finn's parental role be a Yuna-like figure. yeah Exactly. if you're gonna be doing with If you're doing all the parallels, commit to the bit. Our momager is a queen. If you're doing heated rivalry fanfiction, we need our mother, Yuna Hollander.
00:48:24
Speaker
miss I feel unsafe without her. And we need all the women that help us make the great decisions to be together, you know? Because yeah these men are just like stupid.
00:48:37
Speaker
yeah This is like when I read Mafia AUs or like Bratva AUs in fanfiction and Yuna Hollander is not the head of the Yakuza. And I'm like, well, that's fucking stupid. Why would a man be in charge? We have Yuna Hollander fucking here. Exactly. like Hello?
00:48:55
Speaker
ah Come on. She would have changed that shit right up. Yeah. So that was one of my biggest gripes is that they just didn't mention, like not even just like a, oh, they tragically passed after, or maybe they even like that started the war or something. Like, I

Narrative and Character Critiques

00:49:09
Speaker
don't know. Like, or maybe that was just too much. I don't know. But I was upset about no no moms. I thought i really enjoyed the actual like erotica parts of it. I thought they were really well done. And I always love to give Gwyn their flowers for the sound design and like the music and all that stuff. I like the erotica scenes. I also feel as if the actual plot missed a few marks. Yeah. Like, you know, where are their mothers? You know what?
00:49:36
Speaker
I want to know more. At the same time, I don't think what they have works. You know? don't know if that made sense. It left much to be desired. No, I literally had more questions about things. The third episode was so rushed. I was like, oh, we're just going to like, this dude killed all of your people. Like, single-handedly, mostly. Like, what like. Literally killed your soldiers. Literally killed your soldiers and you're just going to suck his dick and be like, yeah, it's fine. Hello? Lauren. Lauren. What? He's digmatized. Lauren, what about love?
00:50:10
Speaker
I never mentioned love. Well, like, if you, I don't know. i It just felt like, i wrote this in our outline, but I was literally like, I loved Hudson. The threesome with Connor was weird, which we'll get into next. um But overall, if this was like trash, but I also like trash. Yeah, me too. This is like sitting down and reading fan fiction and you're like, wow, that fan fiction was really bad, but it was still fan fiction. So it's great. but it it Yeah. and i still read all of it I love the dream the raccoon meme. may be trash, but that means I'm someone's treasure. Exactly.
00:50:47
Speaker
No, exactly exactly. I didn't think it was complete trash, but I feel like I could have done a better job. I feel like all three of us could have, but all four of us could john have done better job. Let's write Ember and Ice 2.
00:50:59
Speaker
let's go but it better get the penzo paper get right now that's what the next pod episode actually is the next pod episode is all of us just sitting at our computer we have to fix schedule is what we're doing rewriting the whole thing okay we've talked about it a million times we need to talk about the threesome ollie you have thoughts go for it okay like okay so i didn't hate it I think it was well acted on Connor's part. And I get the purpose it told in that like, Dane has all these people who want to fuck him, but he can only think about Finn. i i have this problem.
00:51:37
Speaker
Exactly. It parallels that sentiment. But it's like, I feel like you've already showed that in a million other ways. I didn't necessarily need to hear it. I genuinely skipped all of the three. so As soon as there was a woman in I was like, all right, never mind, actually. like I'm consuming MM romance. like i want Not to be like, why and the fuck is a woman here? But like I went into this with a certain idea. And as a bisexual person, I was kind of like, why the fuck is a woman in this? Like, hello? Yeah. Hello?
00:52:08
Speaker
but That's gonna, let's not clip that. I am good with a woman being there. If the sex is queer. Love woman. You know? Period. Like, if the dynamics of sex are not following straight normative dynamics, I'm all for it. But again, we don't get to see any of that. Because even though this is erotica, we get more about, like, the threesome being a threesome with this married couple than anything else. Mm-hmm. I think we got more like of the spicy scenes in episode one from Finn's point of view. and it does it We got like one in Dane's episode and then the threesome. I was like this like, it doesn't feel balanced. yeah
00:52:51
Speaker
I didn't vibe with that a whole lot. Yeah, yeah it's very true. And i also, the girl in that threesome. She is the second named woman in the whole thing and the only woman named woman we get on screen or on page or on whatever because the only other named woman is the one that Dane supposed to marry that's off at school but we don't we never even meet her or see her anything. yeah So she she's this woman in the threesome which I don't even remember her name unfortunately but she's the only named woman that we ever meet which I'm like what the hell. It's giving bestial tests.
00:53:23
Speaker
i was literally say yeah It's giving the Bestel test. Which, um for those of you who are unfamiliar, um the Bestel test is ah basically, it's a metric for evaluating female representation in fiction, almost always film. And it's generally like, there needs to be at least two women and they need to have a conversation about something other than a man.
00:53:49
Speaker
And this this does not pass the Bestel test. This fails the Bestel test. Yep. i I feel like they should have just, because they knew people were going to see Hudson and Connor and hand over their wallets. So I don't see why they didn't just like wede wood wage focus more on that.
00:54:09
Speaker
I've been thinking about this. I had some thoughts. I don't think it does. don't think it does. Because most of the women that we get talking are Svetlana, Yuna, and Elena, and rosee Rose. And Maria. And Maria, but I don't think- They almost never talk to each other. though There's ah there's no two women are talking to each other. know. oh I know.
00:54:31
Speaker
yeah It's a hard one. Fuck! But this is why we could critique media and this is why it's important to enjoy things but also understand their fallings and push for better. As well as the reason why the people are asking for Esvidlana and Rose sapphic romance.
00:54:50
Speaker
Yes! I would sell my kidney! Literally. Same. Oh my god, that should be a pod if we do, is writing that story too. Boy, you're gonna have to bring it back when we talk about women and feminism and the pod, about how it doesn't pass the fucking Vestal test. That's why the only fan art I have made of HITED Rivalry is basically Rose and Svetlana at the club.
00:55:10
Speaker
And you know what? Yeah. Yeah, so that that was a big gripe that I had. But yeah, the threesome. They don't even finish, which I'm like, what the hell? He he just lives! I was like, why did I need to sit through that? like Why couldn't we get him frustrated after he said, like, I can do this? And then we get that time for more Finn and Dane sex encounters. Thank you. yeah Yeah. That's what the people are here for. war Exactly. What did y'all think of the, if we may transition to the, on top of the, it's not top of the castle, it's like on the the tower against the wall. I liked that one. Not going lie. yeah I did like that one too. That was god was in the third episode. peen me and other no That had some great, that one had some great lines in it that I really like. pe me to a wo Anytime. well Literally
00:55:56
Speaker
yeah yeah i'm not that was a good one yeah that was good that was nice it was romantic and sexy at the same time so you see you could have done that with everything else and it's possible what it's possible clearly it worked i what i what i think about have thought about every time i've listened to this and i don't we don't get an answer in the show so this is just a hypothetical why do we think The Lunare don't fly as much as the Solari do. um Well, if we... i I don't know. If we think that, like, there's moon versus sun, then... But they can still fly at night. Imagine they had night vision. But maybe it's harder for them to fly at night.
00:56:35
Speaker
Maybe it's just, like, not culturally... It's just that Finn's father doesn't like it because he feels they are more vulnerable when they're flying. So it's giving closet metaphor there.
00:56:47
Speaker
Maybe that's how Finn's mom died. There you go. If he had a mother. Because we don't actually fucking know. Maybe these fey men can just produce So, Lord, are you implying that Mpreg is real? Wait, Mpreg? Wait.
00:57:02
Speaker
If you do have Mpreg, then there's no issue with... but the air yeah yeah right ember and ice we solved it emper and ice you have a mission with the sequel i need empreg okay also if you're not a fan fiction person i have demands empreg is male pregnancy whether that is through magical and or non-magical Reproductive. So, Embrad can get creative.
00:57:34
Speaker
I have a nerdy story. About Embrad? So we can, like, yeah. I'm so curious. So we can study how ancient this idea is. Okay? Okay, i' see. Because we're situating this in fan fiction. But ah I once studied this romance. A romance is a type of poem in ah the Hispanic world. And it usually tells you a story. And this was a story about a man who pissed off a witch so badly that she enchanted him into him being pregnant and having to deliver the baby through his penis.
00:58:13
Speaker
Through his penis? Yeah, I read that in my undergrad in my Monsters and Literature class and it it it has been like this amazing memory I have. Like this man had to deliver the baby like a full fully formed baby through his penis.
00:58:33
Speaker
And this is like- There's a movie about this, I swear. Maybe. There's several movies about this. Normally, in Mpreg fanfiction, it's ass babies. This is Siglo- Typically, I think this is Siglo de Ordo, or even like late medieval era.
00:58:48
Speaker
I mean, it's it's it's old. This is way before we got like, 803 going Wattpad. Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. didn't want to get men pregnant. This is how- Full on like respected piece of literature.
00:59:03
Speaker
A poem about a man who pisses a woman so bad that she's like, you know what? You're gonna deliver a baby through your penis because there's nothing, no other like painful experience that I can imagine that could be worse. Trans allegory?
00:59:19
Speaker
True. Also, it's it's the precursor of this experiment we now do with the TENS unit, where we make non-menstruating people feel what a cramp feels like. And you see, you know, like you're transferring a pain to someone you feel should know how it feels.
00:59:39
Speaker
So, Mpreg is not just like a thing from fanfiction and Omegaverse. We have been considering the possibilities of the human body for centuries. Right. That's really cool. I will definitely try to find it. I'm gonna text a friend who probably remembers the name because am that old. Yeah, I need to read it as ah as an Mpreg consumer.
01:00:05
Speaker
I kind of remember reading it somewhere. but My Mpreg consumption is usually like they're trans and it's Mpreg consumption. Yes. I like that Hudson supports the M-Preg agenda. That clip floored me the first time saw Also, read so many fics where Ilya's like, I'm going to get you pregnant to Shane. And I'm like, you're both cis men, but I love that. love that energy. But it's so good. It's so good. It's incredible. It's so good. It's going to try so hard. It's giving, I don't care if the dick is silicone, I'm going to get her pregnant from lesbians. Yes.
01:00:39
Speaker
Yes. It's not about the equipment, it's about the mindset. Exactly! if if i love which try be If the witch could do it with this man back then, we all

Production and Performance Insights

01:00:51
Speaker
can do it. with our Exactly. We all have it within us. yeah No. Oh, I texted my friend who took the class with me. This is my my college boyfriend before my current partner. And he was like, I was talking to my girlfriend about this yesterday. it's Nice.
01:01:10
Speaker
No, exactly. Yes. It left a mark in us. It was our first semester. So this was like way back then. Okay, last few things here. the i see a note in our outline about about Connor's accent. Anyone else surprised by this? Okay, personally thought Hudson's acting was a lot better than Connor's acting in this, and it maybe is just because Hudson is maybe more made for this medium. i don't know. Like, i like i understand, like, a lot of people did criticize him because they were like, oh, he was just doing his Shane Hollander, and, like,
01:01:43
Speaker
I don't think that's necessarily true but like I think his acting came off a lot better through the mic than maybe Connors did so i I mean his American accent is just really funny to me because yes I listened to like like Conor is truly like a chameleon like I feel like that that didn't sound like Conor but it was still somehow Conor and it was still somehow Ilya like It's like that a that SNL promo where he's standing next to Sarah from the SNL cast. And she's like, and we get to make out with Connor. And Connor was like, nobody else said that. And then he like turns to her and it's like Ilya Rosadov overtakes his body. he leans in. Sometimes you see Ilya just take over him. And you see it just're hearing in his eyes. And during this record, during Queen, the Queen, the Ember and Ice thing, You can hear it in his moans. yeah and in his Yes. Yes.
01:02:37
Speaker
Like that. You can hear it. A trained ear knows Ilya bones. No, literally. Like, please come just into a phone over and over again for me.
01:02:50
Speaker
and that's it that' That's all I know. Yeah. But yeah, no, I think Hudson did an amazing job in this. And Connor was just like... As I said, Hudson had me fooled. Like, he was doing great movies. I don't know what it looks like in that recording booth, but the way it sounds is crazy. the way it sounds is crazy.
01:03:11
Speaker
Whatever they did, do it again. i I love intimacy coordination, as we know. And I kept imagining like how the recording booth looked like in real, like because for us, it's like, uh, mm. And I imagine them guys just like laughing, looking at each other like, uh, mm.
01:03:31
Speaker
You think they do I'm so curious about how the recording of this goes. Like, Yeah. And this is a good transition to the the marketing aspect as well, but I'm like, were they just, like, staring at each other? Like, what could they, like... it way Like, what is the... But also, like, it's HUD-Con, and they're freaky as fuck anyway, so they probably, like dead like, dead eyes just, like, staring at each other. Yeah, I mean...
01:03:48
Speaker
Have you seen the interview when where they explain how they broke the ice for the first time? Like, about the intimacy thing? I don't think so. you're not that They were together with Jacob. So, Hotgun met with Jacob and the intimacy coordinator, right? And they were trying on the cock sock.
01:04:07
Speaker
So, they were giving the The intimacy garment was given to them and they went into like a stall, each one. And Hudson was like suffering because he was like, this is so painful. i can't get it in. And then Connor was screaming like, just do it this way, blah. And then just, they just went out with only the garment. and Connor was like, look. It looked perfect! Great! So that's how the ice was broken. ah I love that for them. Sometimes you just have to, like, full send something in order to break the ice. And you know what? yeah I love that for them. I love that, like, and story of when they first met and, like, Connor hopped up on, like, Hudson's Island and... heard about this. Hudson was like your leg like, your arms are the size of my legs. Like...
01:04:58
Speaker
pre nine pounds of clappable material which baby boy is so big right now did you see the pictures of the season shirt don't even get me started beefy beefy man yeah hello so speaking of that with the the marketing wants me dad how did y'all feel about the marketing i thought that was like really cute the marketing like immediately sold me on it like i was like oh absolutely absolutely That is the best Quinn marketing has ever been for, I feel, any of the originals. Because i saw the one for the guy from The Summer Turn Pretty, which we should clarify is not the MAGA guy. It's the other one.
01:05:35
Speaker
he's The other guy's MAGA? Yeah. Yeah. ah You know what? I could have told that shit. Yeah. Yeah. I will say that the Rob Roche from Traders Quinn original is out now and it's called the Snake Handler or something. I've seen that. and his promo was also very hot, but I also love to hate him and hate to love him.
01:05:57
Speaker
I was gonna say, I was like, I don't know anything about this guy, but his face, he icks me out just a little. He is like the worst and best person you ever will know. He's from Love Island. He was terrible to his girlfriend on the show, Leah, but he is also unfortunately...
01:06:15
Speaker
very hot and that he was just on the traders and he was a trader and he won but now the whole internet is like overly obsessed with him again but his quinn original is out now and it's it's the marketing was hot so maybe quinn's just kind of like hired a bunch of gen zers on their marketing recently and They're improving. Yeah, because the Ember and Ice thing was so good. like So good. Like all of the pictures? The interviews, the pictures, the clips, and also the funny one with Hudson arriving with all his hockey gear and Connor being like, it's the other thing we're doing today. no okay. And then he goes for his wings. No, literally, I was so confused that it wasn't about hockey. like Like, I was like, wait, why is it about fairies? This is a heated rivalry thing. Like, why is it about hockey? Stop with the fairies. Stop it now. I was like, are there going to be fairies, fair hockey players? Like,
01:07:15
Speaker
i would imagine Now I would tune in. Would they fly? Could you imagine a puck hitting a wing? Is the puck magic? Well, okay, so there's like fan fictions where like players are like vampires and werewolves and like a bunch of other creatures and stuff like selkies or whatever. And they're like, usually they have to like take some kind of like suppress it so their powers don't come out on the ice.
01:07:38
Speaker
I'm getting images of Quidditch. Ew. Yeah, but ew, but yeah. Ew, but yeah, but also ew. I get it, I get it.
01:07:50
Speaker
Like for fairy, yeah, maybe. Oh my god, do you guys are- Honestly, if you play like real life Quidditch and you're on a Quidditch league, please quit. Like that is the lamest thing. They did change the name to be no longer affiliated to Rowling, so we will give them that. Yeah, but it's still fucking weird. It's fucking weird.
01:08:14
Speaker
All right, enough about that turf and her IP. Anyway. Okay, i let's like talk about our last question then. Did it keep you interested in Quinn? No.
01:08:25
Speaker
No. ah I guess like I haven't canceled my subscription. and I use it occasionally, but I don't know how long I'll keep it. i don't know. I still am deciding how I feel about it. It didn't much affect my interest in Quinn, I guess, because I i was there before. i'm still here. Yeah. Yeah.
01:08:41
Speaker
and Yeah, i'm I'm locked in, guess. Ollie's like, I was there. I've been here. I've done my time. I've served. I'm going forward, pretty. I'm going to die, pretty. That's right.
01:08:56
Speaker
do, I would love to see, honestly, Hudson or Connor do another one, whether it be together or on their own time. I would love Hudson to do, like, Dom Daddy one. Like, I fear I wouldn't...
01:09:14
Speaker
i I think it would be really cool to see more of them on the app. Because I i think Ember and Ice, it was good. It wasn't incredible. and i think And I know Quinn can make better originals than that. So it's like, let's just do another one. I guess what I'm, like, something that I was kind of concerned about, and I think, like, a lot of other fans were thinking, like, were maybe concerned about, is that doing too much of Quinn might pigeonhole them into, like, MM erotica roles. Oh. And so what do you guys think about that? Like, just as a final category. I think we can wait until they have done other projects and then they can come back. You know, like, I understand the fear of, like, being typecast. Yeah, because Hollywood's big on that.
01:09:53
Speaker
Yeah, and it sucks. Especially with people of color. i would love Hudson to do a daddy-dom one because, yeah, that would, like, go outside of what Hollywood is already seeing there, you know? Yeah. But I do think this is something they can do in a few years when we have seen more of them outside of the romance. Yeah, for sure. yeah I still think as something queer would be cool. I guess it doesn't have to be MM, but I still think something queer would be really interesting if they ever do come back to it. think it would. Also, in general, I'm really curious how the Quinn Foley work works. Me too.
01:10:29
Speaker
I might do some research or something.

Closing Remarks and Guest Farewell

01:10:31
Speaker
I don't know. I don't know if there is anything to know about it. or maybe I'll post on Reddit or sign it up. But I'm like... thing i think Jamie Campbell Bower did an interview like in the booth where he showed like yeah this is the chair we use for the chair scraping noises and you know this is how I make certain sounds oh I haven't watched the whole thing yet from what I gather i mean I guess they have to to an extent I need a high definition video of Hudson Williams moaning into a microphone on my desk by morning I have lotion right here and it's very liquidy and I'm just gonna see what this sounds like
01:11:06
Speaker
no who Is that anything? quinn Queen, Queen. Hire us. Just hire hire us.
01:11:19
Speaker
I'm like, is that? I know, because I know what it sounds like, but I'm like, is that anything? Yeah, did that come on the microphone yeah, yeah. so Yeah, it's given. hear a lot of. Yeah. A lot of creators talk about the like making out with your hand thing, and I'm like, I don't need to picture that. No. I'm okay. No, I'm good, actually. i'm cool It's cool that you know how to make those sounds, but I don't need to think about anybody.
01:11:40
Speaker
oh no, this is taking up but a lot of my brain space, and I will be exploring it in the future instead of, like, doing the lines. Amanda, send me everything. Yeah, no, send us it all. out amanda because We because we all desperately need to know.
01:11:52

I need to know exactly how you yeah made that scene look the way it looks. yeah I need to know exactly the angle tilt of the ironclad. Give me all that information. going to treasure No, exactly. But I think that's going to wrap our conversation on Ember and Ice. Yeah.
01:13:23
