Introduction to Minor Prophets

00:00:00
Speaker
The Old Testament.
00:00:03
Speaker
All right. So thanks so much for joining, guys. So today we get to I don't even know what number we are. totally lost track at this point. 14, 15, 16, somewhere in the teens.
00:00:15
Speaker
And having begun all the way in Genesis, chapter one, verse one, And on this journey today, are going to look at the books of the minor prophets. Not minor as in they're short people.
00:00:31
Speaker
Not minor as in they're really young people. Not minor as in they're less important. Minor as in their books are just shorter. That's all it means.
00:00:42
Speaker
and And we're going to look at appearances of Jesus in those books. We're going look at prophecies of Jesus. We're going to at appearances of Jesus, which in theological language is called a teophany or a Christophany.
00:00:58
Speaker
It just means Jesus appeared into time or was seen by a biblical character before Mary gave birth to him. and we're going to look at some prophetic narratives as well. um Different prophets whose lives were very, very similar.
00:01:17
Speaker
to the life of Jesus. So basically a story of Jesus hidden in someone else's life.

Preview of Discipleship Volume 3

00:01:25
Speaker
And we're going to look at a variety of those from Hosea all the way to Malachi and that is going to conclude Discipleship Volume 2. And at the end of it I'm going to give you a little preview of what to expect in Discipleship Volume 3.
00:01:43
Speaker
and we're going to be talking about something that the whole world is talking about at the moment. and The only difference is, and I do not say this arrogantly, most of the world are speaking about it in a way that's absolute crap.
00:01:56
Speaker
and fergo We're to actually look what the Bible has to say and and put it in its proper place and its proper context. and So let's let's get into it.
00:02:18
Speaker
All right, just let me know if you can see my screen with yay or a thumbs up.
00:02:25
Speaker
Yeah, happy days, a nice one.
00:02:32
Speaker
All right,

Story of Hosea and Symbolism of Jesus

00:02:33
Speaker
so the first story we're gonna look at today is a prophetic narrative. So this is not a physical appearance of Jesus, but the story of Jesus is hidden in the prophet's life. This prophet is called Hosea.
00:02:49
Speaker
If you haven't read Hosea before, or it's been a while since you read it, the first three chapters, oh my goodness, it's a beautiful story, and it's a mad story, it's a gripping story, it's a sad story, it's got a happy ending.
00:03:04
Speaker
Hosea is basically a prophet of the Lord, and the Lord speaks to him and says, go marry, what do we say in 21st century English?
00:03:15
Speaker
A slut. A whore. A big hole. Go marry a woman who, biblically speaking, hasn't known a lot of men before.
00:03:27
Speaker
And Hosea probably thought, hey, listen, is this the word of Satan or is this the word of God? But the Lord was saying, listen, my nation, my people Israel, or by today's standards, the church, the body of Christ, are in rebellion.
00:03:45
Speaker
I love them. I'm for them. I want what's best for them. But my goodness, do they let me down? Do they break my heart? Do they say that they love me out of one side of their mouth and then tiptoe worshipping demons with the other side of the mouth?
00:04:05
Speaker
God said, Go find yourself a woman in the red light district of ancient Israel. Marry her. So Hosea does that, finds a woman, marries her. They have three kids.
00:04:17
Speaker
And then he wakes up one morning.
00:04:21
Speaker
And she's not in bed next to him. He goes downstairs. She's not sitting at the coffee table in her dressing gown, having a cup of tea like she always does.
00:04:33
Speaker
Goes in the front garden. She's not there talking to the neighbors. Goes into the back garden, she's not hanging clothes in line. Goes into the utility room, she's not in there ironing, listening to ABBA, Dancing Queen.
00:04:50
Speaker
The day goes on, she's at no shop, running her errands, she never comes back.
00:04:57
Speaker
And he realizes she's left him. He went into the most degrading part of His nation found this woman who had a bad rep, married her, committed himself her. They had three kids.
00:05:19
Speaker
And she has jolted him. Left him in the middle of the night. He's heartbroken. He's confused. Oh my goodness, what do i tell the kids? How do i explain to them? Mommy's not coming home.
00:05:33
Speaker
And the Lord says, Hosea, go get her. He's probably thinking, you messing? God says, she's your wife. Go get your wife.
00:05:46
Speaker
So Hosea has to go back to her owner.
00:05:55
Speaker
She's not just jumped into bed with the first man she's seen. It appears that she has gone back into the slave trade.
00:06:05
Speaker
Where there's probably an overseeing madame or, you know, a man who, now you know, she's there to make him the money. You know, show me the money, show me the money.
00:06:20
Speaker
And Hosea has to go to this individual, this man, and pay 15 shekels of silver. And a homer and a leka of barley. What is a leka? It's about 330 liters of barley.
00:06:36
Speaker
In order to buy back his wife.
00:06:43
Speaker
And he says to her, you are to live with me many days. You must not be a prostitute or be intimate with any man. And I will live with you.
00:06:55
Speaker
You were faithless to me. but I'll be faithful to you. You let me down. I won't let you down. You broke my heart.
00:07:09
Speaker
Let's work together on restoring yours.
00:07:14
Speaker
And this story of Hosea, it's a mad story, but it is a prophetic narrative. It's a prophetic picture of the love that Jesus has for his people. He enters into covenant with them, into union with them.
00:07:30
Speaker
With Israel, he was to be their god, ultimately their king. he was going to sit on the throne of Israel and and run and in Jerusalem and run the country. That was the plan. But they kept on following false gods and sacrificing children to demons and and all sorts.
00:07:48
Speaker
And look at the body of Christ today.
00:07:53
Speaker
It's still faithless.
00:07:56
Speaker
The backstabbing that goes on The, oh, I can't talk to those Christians. I can't go to that church. Oh, have take my shopping trolley from the bread aisle in Lidl to the cereal aisle because I posted something bad about that church on Instagram.
00:08:14
Speaker
Despite the faithlessness of his people, he still chooses to be faithful to us. He still commits, I'll still be faithful. I'll still be absolutely good.
00:08:25
Speaker
I will still be true. even when you've let me down. That's the covenant of love that God, Jesus and his spirit have for us. Isn't that amazing?
00:08:37
Speaker
The next time you do something and you think, oh my goodness, I can't believe I did that. I can't believe I said that. I can't yada yada. And you just want to run away from God. No, you stop. And you say, he is still faithful to me. He has not let me go.
00:08:52
Speaker
So be Gomer, be the wife, go back to the Lord. I was driving this morning on my way to the NCT test to check the road worthiness of my car in Drogheda and the Dnore Road.
00:09:08
Speaker
And, a you know, i when I become Taoiseach of this country for minister, i am tearing down those toll bridges on day one. You've heard it here first people, that's my campaign promise. So I drove through it and then, like you know, we stopped to put my own my money in my wallet or whatever else.
00:09:24
Speaker
ah But the guy behind me, you know, his he must have done the pay 50 euro. It opens for you automatically. The barrier still lifts up. And he just begins honking me out of it. Well, let me tell you, i put my window down. i turn around. just began yelling all manner of things at him. ah i Again, that's close to saying,
00:09:46
Speaker
shit I will get out of this car. will drag you out your window. I will break your legs and you'll crawl back onto your privacy.
00:09:57
Speaker
None of it. and the so but but And about two meters later, my first thought was, I'm teaching the word of God at eight o'clock.
00:10:10
Speaker
But you know what?
00:10:13
Speaker
Hosea took back his cheating wife.

Prophecies in Joel: Apocalypse and Jesus' Victory

00:10:17
Speaker
because he would be faithful to her, he would not relent. And i know that God's love like Hosea is extended to me.
00:10:25
Speaker
So I did not run away from the Lord and say, goodness, I'm too bad for Jesus. I was like, Jesus. Well, I'll be honest. My immediate reaction was like, excuse my myself. I excuse my bad behavior.
00:10:36
Speaker
But when I calmed down a little bit, I said, Jesus, thank you for your grace. But chapter two, verse onwards. going to read this. This is when God really begins to say, okay, Hosea's life is is a picture of of a larger problem here and a larger love story.
00:10:58
Speaker
It's one of my favorite passages in the scripture. And I love all the Bible, but I actually mean this. This is one of my favorites. It's Hosea 2, 14 onwards. This God speaking, not Hosea about a woman.
00:11:10
Speaker
It's God speaking about the nation of Israel. Or by extension, you can include us in it today.
00:11:17
Speaker
Therefore, i am now going to allure her. I will lead her into the desert and kill her. Just kidding. I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her.
00:11:31
Speaker
Sometimes you find yourself in a situation you never thought you would. And they're the most beautiful moments you have with Jesus.
00:11:41
Speaker
There I will give her back her vineyards. And will make the valley of trouble a door of hope. Amen. There she will sing as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.
00:11:56
Speaker
If you know what that is, the book of Exodus, watch the Prince of Egypt. The people had been slaves and God got them out. In that day, declares the Lord, you will call me my husband.
00:12:07
Speaker
You will no longer call me my master. I'll remove the names of the Baals, demons, from your lips. No longer will their names be invoked.
00:12:18
Speaker
In that day, I'll make a covenant with them, with the beasts of the field, and the birds of the air, and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I'll abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety.
00:12:33
Speaker
I'll betroth you to me forever. I'll betroth you in righteousness and justice. in love and compassion. I'll betroth you in faithfulness and you will acknowledge the Lord.
00:12:47
Speaker
In that day I'll respond, declares the Lord. I'll respond to the skies and they'll respond to the earth and the earth will respond to the grain and the new wine and oil and they'll respond to Jezreel, a which means God plants.
00:13:07
Speaker
I'll plant her for myself in the land. I will show my love to the one I called, not my loved one. I will say to those called, not my people, you are my people.
00:13:21
Speaker
And they will say, you are my God. So this is, in the macrocosmic sense, an end time prophecy, which you're going a lot of today.
00:13:33
Speaker
People who read the Old Testament and ignore the end times are people who have not studied the Old Testament. It's impossible to really study the Old Testament ignore end time prophecy.
00:13:44
Speaker
What God is saying here is after the apocalypse, he's going to call the nation of Israel his bride. And because the earth will have been devastated by the apocalypse, he's going to restore them and in end.
00:13:57
Speaker
and agricultural sense as a people on a personal level, on a communal level, on a corporate level, on national level. And the very people who thought they'd been disqualified, cancelled, set apart, unworthy, they're going to know that they know that they know that Jesus is their God.
00:14:22
Speaker
All right, then. and Joel, chapter 2, verse 28 to 32, is also a prophecy. Now, again, like I just said there a moment ago, you can't really study the Old Testament and ignore end-time prophecy.
00:14:39
Speaker
What a lot of Christians do is they read about the Old Testament, they see something that they don't like, and then they're like, it, skip it, skip it! Or they go, look at Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. They just flick until they see something in red ink.
00:14:55
Speaker
And then they catch their breath.
00:14:59
Speaker
The part the Old Testament that kind of scare people the most are usually end time prophecies. The reason they're scary is because they're talking about the apocalypse, but which will not be a fun time for anyone involved. m But i again, we will come to that at a later point.
00:15:16
Speaker
But Joel chapter 2, 28 to 32, talks about the apocalypse. But also it's a prophecy about Jesus who wins the apocalypse. Spoiler alert.
00:15:29
Speaker
It says, and afterward, after the apocalypse, after the Antichrist rules the world and ruins it, I will pour out my spirit on all people.
00:15:44
Speaker
A lot of people say, that's already happened. No, it has not. Most people on earth today hate Jesus or don't know Jesus or they think they know Jesus but don't know Jesus.
00:15:58
Speaker
Holy Spirit is not on all people. To say he is is factually errant. Just think of the last news story you heard. Does it sound like Holy Spirit's on all people? No.
00:16:11
Speaker
But afterward, after the apocalypse, I'll pour out my spirits on all people because the goodies are the ones who survive. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy.
00:16:25
Speaker
Your old men will dream dreams. And young men will see visions. Now what some people say is, but I prophesy. I have prophetic dreams and visions. You do, but that's because that's how God speaks into you. But we haven't survived the apocalypse yet.
00:16:41
Speaker
This is for a future time. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour up my spirit in those days. After the apocalypse. I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth. Now this is the apocalypse. This is what it looks like.
00:16:57
Speaker
Blood and fire and billows and of smoke. um There's one part where there's a prison world called Tartarus that opens up.
00:17:07
Speaker
and smoke comes out of it and it covers over the skies so people who have no light and then demons come out of it that look like locusts. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
00:17:24
Speaker
Why is this great and dreadful? Because when Jesus comes back on a white horse with a sword in his hand, And the heavenly host, heaven's army behind him at his coattails.
00:17:38
Speaker
He will be the biggest massacre ever. All the wicked. Everyone complicit with the Antichrist regime of the apocalypse, which sadly will be most people on earth, are gonna get what's coming to them.
00:17:53
Speaker
They will have lived lives of witchcraft, of murder, of rape, of slavery. And Jesus is gonna go for a clean sweep.
00:18:02
Speaker
And everyone who calls the name of the Lord will be saved. Like I said, the goodies are the ones who survive. They're going to be like, you know, i take this street Jesus came.
00:18:14
Speaker
They're the ones who survive. And Holy Spirit's going to come out on absolutely every single person on earth who survives the apocalypse. It's going to be amazing.
00:18:24
Speaker
For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, there will be deliverance. Jesus is going to rule and reign. He's going to physically live in a temple on Mount Zion in the red Jerusalem, the city, in the nation of Israel, a geographically specific place.
00:18:42
Speaker
That's why there are always wars in Israel. That's why Christians, Jews, and Muslims are always fighting for Jerusalem. The devil has a very particular invested interest.
00:18:55
Speaker
in destroying Jerusalem. If Jerusalem survives, Jesus will come back and ultimately save the day. If there's no Jerusalem, well then biblical prophecy can't happen. That's why the devil's always trying to destroy Jerusalem and attack Israel, the country.
00:19:12
Speaker
For on Mount Zion in Jerusalem there'll be deliverance, salvation and freedom for all, as the Lord has said, among the survivors whom the Lord called.
00:19:24
Speaker
So Joel chapter 2, 28 to 32 is talking about the apocalypse. The most horrific seven years ever. Whatever you think they will be like, they will be far worse.
00:19:38
Speaker
But Jesus comes back, wipes out the enemy's camp, which will be the largest army you can imagine. Saves his people and all the survivors will say Jesus is Lord.
00:19:55
Speaker
and Holy Spirit will actually be upon, and presumably in, 100% of people on Earth. I mean, wow, wow, wow. wow wow wow wow wow wow
00:20:18
Speaker
The prophet Amos similarly prophesies about the apocalypse. You'll see here, have Jesus is in one corner, and then I have the antagonists.
00:20:33
Speaker
You have the unholy trinity at the top, which is Satan, who's a counterfeit god. Then I chose Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars. um He's the Antichrist, a counterfeit Christ.
00:20:49
Speaker
And then you have the false prophet, a sorcerer, a magician, who has real demonic power, by the way. It's not imaginary. It's not all hologrammed. It's real power. He's a counterfeit holy spirit.
00:21:02
Speaker
They're the ones who will run the shop.
00:21:06
Speaker
There are also ten kings under the Antichrist. The earth gets divided. Think of the Hunger Games, yeah, where the world is divided into districts. That's what the Antichrist will do. He'll divide the earth into about ten districts.
00:21:19
Speaker
And there will be a king over each one. But he's the emperor in overall supremacy of the Stark regime. Second only to the devil.
00:21:30
Speaker
Then he has an army of complicit humans, willingly complicit humans. Perhaps you've heard the number 666 before. Yeah, all the people who get 666 make an unbreakable covenant with the devil to serve him and the regime.
00:21:49
Speaker
And then, of course, you've got the spiritual warfare. You've got demons fighting alongside them. Demons who hate them. Demons who will torture them in hell. But demons who will say, oh well, yes, you can be complicit with us. We'll totally bless to you and give you, you know, thrones in hell or immortality. But they just despise all humans.
00:22:09
Speaker
That's our rogues gallery in the apocalypse. The unholy trinity, 10 complicit kings, most people on earth will serve the regime willingly, and then all the demons were under the devil anyway.
00:22:24
Speaker
Amos 5, 18 to 20 gives a prophecy about this. It says, woe to you who long for the day of the Lord.
00:22:35
Speaker
We're not talking about the rapture here. The rapture is great. We're talking about the apocalypse. The day the apocalypse ends. Why do you long for the day Lord?
00:22:49
Speaker
Why do you think that this is going to be a good thing? You know, some people have a really deranged sense of humor. And they're oh, I just wish that, you know, like, they'd all die. I just wish that this would happen.
00:23:00
Speaker
God is like, seriously, chickatita? Are you having a laugh? You have no idea what it is you're wishing for.
00:23:08
Speaker
That day will be darkness, not light. It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear.
00:23:21
Speaker
You're running away from the devil. Because he prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. And they're going to run head five into g head first into Jesus and host of heaven.
00:23:34
Speaker
As though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall. only to have a snake bite him. Will not the day of the Lord be darkness, not light, pitch black without a ray of brightness.
00:23:50
Speaker
The apocalypse, especially the day that it ends, is Jesus coming to deal with evil in totality.
00:24:03
Speaker
It will be Amazing and heroic and brilliant and necessary to save the human population from extermination.

The Story of Jonah: A Metaphor for Jesus

00:24:13
Speaker
But my goodness, it will be a day of violence. It is a day of war.
00:24:17
Speaker
It's a day of terror. There will be tears. And the Lord basically asking the people in that prophecy, you know, do you actually know what is you're waiting for?
00:24:29
Speaker
This is not something where, you know, you sit around and you'll be laughing. No one's going be laughing when this is happening. This will be a day of incredible pain and suffering where God actually deals with evil. You know, so often we we're like, I just wish God would kill all the bad people. Just with all those bad people dying to hell already.
00:24:49
Speaker
People don't actually know what they mean. Because on that day, It will be absolute free-for-all where Jesus wipes the enemy's side of the chessboard entirely.
00:25:04
Speaker
Alright then. Next up is Jonah. Jonah is a famous funny little book of four chapters. And again, his life is a prophetic narrative.
00:25:17
Speaker
The life of Jesus. Jonah is a prophet. And he gets a word from God to go to Nineveh. not going to find Nineveh on a map today. Nineveh was the capital city of the empire of Assyria.
00:25:34
Speaker
It was the superpower of the day. And Nineveh was its capital city. The people were incredibly wicked. They were defiled. What does wicked mean? Think of the worst people you can imagine and imagine a city full of them.
00:25:49
Speaker
The Lord tells Jonah, go to Nineveh. And tell the people destruction is coming. God has seen your wickedness and he is fed up with it.
00:26:01
Speaker
He's going to deal with you. And Jonah hops in a boat and says, I'd rather go on holiday. I'm going to go to another country. I'm just going to the opposite direction of Nineveh. I have no intention other than that word.
00:26:14
Speaker
Sorry, God, not happening. While he's on his boat, the Lord sends a storm. And a massive storm breaks out. And the other there are passengers on the boat are like, oh my goodness, we're drowning, help me. but So they start throwing the cargo overboard. You know, oh, if I just get rid of, you know, all my clothes, we might be able to, i don't know, change the weather or something.
00:26:44
Speaker
And eventually they're like, hang on, this is supernatural. We're sailors. We know how the weather works. We can read, you know, the the wind. We can navigate. This is supernatural.
00:26:55
Speaker
So they cast lots of, you know rolling dice. You know, if it's a one, I'm to blame. If it's two, you're to blame. If it's three, it's Jonah. They roll the dice. And the number comes up. Jonah is to blame.
00:27:08
Speaker
And Jonah is like hands in the air. Yeah, sorry, it's it's me. My god told me to do this, that, and the other. I disobeyed. Totally me Throw me overboard. Kill me and the storm will end. And the men are like, okay.
00:27:22
Speaker
Didn't take much convincing. So they grab Jonah, took him overboard. The storm stops and they're like, god of Jonah. Clearly, you are real.
00:27:33
Speaker
And they get saved. It's wonderful. It's mad. It's crazy. God's word.
00:27:41
Speaker
Jonah, on the other hand, goes all the way down to the very sea bed.
00:27:50
Speaker
I don't know how deep that sea is, but I'm gonna place a bet he did not survive it. He's going whole way down to seabed.
00:28:01
Speaker
And the word of God says that the seaweed wraps around him and traps him. He can't get out. He's stuck there. When you think of even the pressure of the sea, I'm convinced he died.
00:28:14
Speaker
There, I said it. And he tells us in chapter two that he went down to the pits. And the pits is the grave. So where do the righteous go when they die in the Old Testament? They go to a place called paradise. It's not heaven, but it's very heavenly. It's very beautiful place. That's where all the Old Testament heroes and heroines went. All the faithful the Old Testament went to paradise.
00:28:43
Speaker
And next thing, he's alive again. The miracle, a resurrection miracle. And he says in chapter two, to the roots of the mountains i sank down. Again, water pressure. He did not survive that.
00:28:59
Speaker
The earth beneath barred me in forever. Very much sounds like the gates to the afterlife. Closing them. And you brought my life up from the pit. Oh, Lord, my God. As we died and got resurrected.
00:29:13
Speaker
And did he swim all the way to the top of the surface? No, he did not. A fish comes. And gobbles them up. So the fish swims for three days and three nights.
00:29:26
Speaker
All the way Nineveh. And spits them out on the shore. He's probably covered in guts and gore and whatever else. And he walks into Nineveh.
00:29:38
Speaker
And he tells people his story. But he also tells them what God has said in the first place. You're a wicked people. God has seen your wickedness. God hates wickedness. There's no wickedness in God. He's going to deal with you.
00:29:53
Speaker
And the whole city repent. The whole city say, oh, my God. They stop the evil ways. They put on sackcloth.
00:30:04
Speaker
So they feel physically uncomfortable, like their nation is an uncomfortable place spiritually. And they put on ashes. And they're like, okay, hopefully, you know, Jonah's God is going to relent.
00:30:17
Speaker
And you know what? He does. Because God is an compassionate God. he says, you know what, Jonah? This is what I wanted. I wanted them to repent. So now I'm going to relent.
00:30:28
Speaker
Tell them it's all good. And Jonah has an absolute conniption.
00:30:35
Speaker
His mind's blown. Steam's coming from his ears. Much like this morning when the guy honked me on the way to the NCT Center. And Jonah says, I knew it. I knew it.
00:30:47
Speaker
I knew you were a compassionate God. Slow to anger. Rich in mercy and love. Love and kindness. I knew it, God. I knew you were going save him. He's livid. Can't handle it.
00:30:58
Speaker
Can't hack it. And he says, I'd be better off dead. God has saved an entire city. And Jonah is basically begging for suicide.
00:31:11
Speaker
Why? Because he was afraid people would call him a false prophet. He'd gone around and said, oh, you're going to die Destruction. Judgment day He knew the heart of God was to save people.
00:31:25
Speaker
But he never said that. He knew the heart of God was compassionate. But he never said that. He knew God was slow to anger, rich in mercy and love, abounding in grace, an abundant grace, exceeding grace. He didn't say that.
00:31:39
Speaker
He just gave the bad news. The people got saved. And then who's afraid people would call a false prophet? So he said, I'd be better off dead. How is that story in any way a prophetic narrative for Jesus?
00:31:56
Speaker
Let's have a look.
00:32:00
Speaker
In Mark 6, 45 to 52, we see the disciples are caught in a storm. To be honest with you, when you actually read and Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you can draw two conclusions about the fishermen that Jesus called her disciples. One, they were the worst fishers ever, because whenever they were on their boats, either there was a storm or there were no fish.
00:32:25
Speaker
Or secondly, there was a lot of spiritual demonic warfare going on on the Sea of Galilee. One of two conclusions can be drawn. And next thing, Jesus comes walking on the water and hops the boat with them, calms the storm.
00:32:46
Speaker
In the same way that for Jonah, he said, listen, throw me overboard. And i it's all going stop.
00:32:53
Speaker
In Romans 5.8,
00:32:55
Speaker
were told you that Jesus died so that many could live. If they said that he was their savior, he was their Lord, the cross was sufficient. One man died for the salvation of others.
00:33:10
Speaker
In Jonah's story, Jonah died so the storm would stop and the other sailors would survive.
00:33:19
Speaker
In Jonah's story, he drowned, he descended to the very bottom of the sea Where you go ahead and see him. He's dead and gone. And in Jesus' story, you know, Matthew 27, 57 to 61, Jesus went under.
00:33:36
Speaker
When he died, he was buried in a grave. And the grave was not surface level. You had to go down steps. he was Jonah was buried underwater. Jesus was buried underground in a tomb.
00:33:52
Speaker
When Jonah died, he went to paradise. He was not there for very long. And in Luke 23, 43, Jesus turned to the thief on his right to recognize that he was the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the King of Israel. And Jesus said, tell you the truth, not lying to not fibbing. You're gonna die today, but you're gonna wake up with me in paradise.
00:34:16
Speaker
He didn't say heaven, paradise. We're gonna go down into paradise. into a phenomenal supernatural world.
00:34:26
Speaker
Jonah was in the big fish's belly for three days and three nights. Matthew 13, 38 to Jesus said he would give his generation the sign of Jonah, that he would be buried for three days and three nights.
00:34:41
Speaker
I'm going to throw you a bit of a curve ball here. One of the biggest lies in Christianity is that Jesus died on quote-unquote Good Friday and somehow came back from the dead on Sunday in morning and somehow that equates to three days and three nights.
00:34:58
Speaker
a Friday, Saturday, Sunday? It doesn't. Therefore, Jesus did not die on a Friday. day He died earlier in the week. I'm going to leave that with you. I'm going leave that with you.
00:35:11
Speaker
one of the biggest lies in the body of Christ. Jesus died on a Friday, huh? Three days, three nights? Really? Really? And Jonah um ultimately wanted to be killed at the end of all this, at the end of none of the salvation, because he was afraid he would be rejected as a false prophet. He had prophesied doom and gloom. The people had repented. They were more alive they'd ever been before.
00:35:41
Speaker
And a Jesus said in Luke 4, 24, it is a prophet's burden. that he gets rejected in his hometown. It's just part of the gig. They're not gonna like you when you tell the truth.
00:35:53
Speaker
They're not gonna like you when you say what no one else will. a But, you know, you still have to do what God tells you to do. You still have to be about the father's business.
00:36:03
Speaker
But ah Jonah had a terribly bad attitude. And rather than being willing to face the music, to face the heat, to face the rejection, literally begged to be put to death instead.
00:36:17
Speaker
I'm sure God said no, by the way.

Prophecies in Micah and Zephaniah

00:36:24
Speaker
All right. Let's move on to our next appearance of Jesus in Old Testament minor prophets prophecy. In the book of Micah, chapter five, verses one to five, we've got a partly fulfilled prophecy.
00:36:45
Speaker
Here it says, Marshal your troops, O city of troops. Other translations say, Strengthen your walls, O walled city. They say reinforce, reinforce architecture, reinforce your military.
00:37:00
Speaker
For a siege is laid against us. They will strike Israel's ruler on the cheek with a rod. But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah. You don't hear Bethlehem very often unless it's December. Hello. Hello.
00:37:14
Speaker
Though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times, the most ancient of all.
00:37:33
Speaker
Therefore, Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor gives birth and the rest of his brothers return to join the Israelites. He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord, his God.
00:37:51
Speaker
And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach the ends of the earth, and he will be their peace. So even though Bethlehem is incredibly small, the one who is the most ancient of all, the firstborn of all creation, Jesus Christ, is going to be born there, is going to come out of it,
00:38:15
Speaker
And he's going to shepherd his flock. He is called the good shepherd, even the best shepherd. In the strength of the Lord God, because Jesus is God, so that would make perfect sense.
00:38:29
Speaker
But says he's going to be the ruler of Israel. That's where we get to the power of the, both the prophecy. His contemporaries did not receive him, did not accept him. They rejected him onto death and crucified him on a cross.
00:38:43
Speaker
At the end of the apocalypse, He'll be recognized as their ruler when he lives in the temple on Manzion, on Jerusalem. So you see how all these prophecies kind of come together now.
00:38:56
Speaker
Then they will live securely after the apocalypse is over and there are no more villains, no more bodies, and even the devil is locked away.
00:39:07
Speaker
And his greatness will reach the ends of the earth. Everyone on earth will know that he is God. He is the king. he is Lord. It'll be not a mystery to anyone. They'll all know it.
00:39:19
Speaker
And then Holy Spirit descends on all people. So you see how all these prophecies come together now. And he will be their peace. He will actually bring world peace for the first time since the Garden of Eden.
00:39:42
Speaker
Okay, then Zephaniah,
00:39:46
Speaker
chapter 1, verse 14, on to chapter 2, verse 3. And again, you kind of notice that all these prophecies harken to very similar theme. They're all about Jesus, um but they're all end times prophecies.
00:40:02
Speaker
This is something so many Christians miss when they read the Old Testament.
00:40:08
Speaker
The great day of the Lord is near. This is the day you're not supposed to look forward to. It's a sad, scary day. When Jesus comes to of defeat Satan, the Antichrist, the false prophet, the ten kings, evil armies and the demons.
00:40:24
Speaker
Totally. The great day of the Lord is near, near and coming quickly. Listen. The cry on the day of the Lord will be bitter. I imagine it will be.
00:40:39
Speaker
these The vast majority of the human race will have pledged themselves to the devil. They'll have gotten a 666 mark on their right hand or their forehead. That is a sin you cannot come back from.
00:40:51
Speaker
That is an unbreakable vow with evil. For us, it's never too late. Someone can always turn it around. In the apocalypse, once they get that mark, there is no coming back. It is literally spiritually impossible.
00:41:07
Speaker
No miracle could undo that covenant. That's how serious this is. But when they say Jesus coming out of that sky, they'll be freaking out. The shouting of the warrior there.
00:41:20
Speaker
That day will be a day of wrath. A day of God's judgment. Jesus' judgment. Jesus hates evil as much as Father God does. So does Holy Spirit. A day of distress and anguish.
00:41:33
Speaker
A day of trouble and ruin. A day of darkness and gloom. A day of clouds and blackness. A day of trumpet and battle cry. Against the fortified cities and against the corner towers is a literal battle between physical and supernatural beings on both sides.
00:41:54
Speaker
Good versus evil in the peak war to end all wars Armageddon.
00:42:01
Speaker
I will bring distress on the people who are evil and they will walk like blind men because they have sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their entrails like filth, which makes sense because of all the blood they will have shed and all the entrails they will have scattered around the earth.
00:42:20
Speaker
Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them. They will have become rich doing evil. You might say that's already happening on the earth. It's going worse. On the day of the Lord's wrath.
00:42:33
Speaker
In the fire of his jealousy, the whole world will be consumed. For he will make a sudden end of all who live in the earth. a All the wicked ones. The righteous will survive. They'll declare the name of the Lord and be saved.
00:42:49
Speaker
Gather together, gather together, oh shameful nation, before the appointed time arrives. It hasn't arrived yet, still in the future. And that day sweeps on like chaff.
00:43:00
Speaker
Before the fierce anger of the Lord comes upon you. Before the day of the Lord's wrath comes upon you. And Jesus is the Lord. Some people think God hates evil and Jesus just sits there with a one-dimensional smile. It's fine. People can do whatever they want.
00:43:15
Speaker
Jesus despises sin. That's why he died to save us from it. Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands.
00:43:27
Speaker
Seek righteousness. Seek humility.

Visions in Zechariah: Transformation and Spiritual Warfare

00:43:29
Speaker
Perhaps you'll be sheltered on the day of the Lord's anger. And indeed you will, because anyone who's humble that day will declare... that God is the Jesus of the Lord and they'll be saved.
00:43:45
Speaker
All right, let's change pace a little bit now and let's have a, let's stick a Christophany in here, an appearance of Jesus.
00:43:54
Speaker
Zechariah is a mad book. It's one of those books people read too infrequently, but I'll be honest with you, it might be one of my favorites. It's a little gem at the very end of the Old Testament that most people could not tell you a single line in it.
00:44:13
Speaker
But it's wonderful. Zechariah was a prophet who had mad visions. He lived in days where Israel had been invaded by the Babylonian Empire. Most of them had been massacred.
00:44:26
Speaker
A remnant had been taken to Babylon as slaves. If you can imagine it. The Empire of Babylon fell in one day to a new empire.
00:44:40
Speaker
The Persian Mediz Empire. It's okay if these names all sound very historical and abstract. We'll get to them at another point in a few months' time.
00:44:50
Speaker
And I'll break it down to you for you so it's more digestible. This is just an introduction. And and when the Persian Mediz Empire hold,
00:45:02
Speaker
Um, the Hebrew Jewish slaves were still slaves, but the wheels began turning for their deliverance, for their return back to geographical Israel.
00:45:16
Speaker
So Zechariah was a prophet during that empire.
00:45:21
Speaker
In chapter one, verses eight to 17, he has a vision and in the vision he sees an angel and he sees Jesus. This is what he sees. This is what he hears.
00:45:34
Speaker
During the night I had a vision, and there before me was a man riding a red horse. He was standing among the myrtle trees in ravine. Behind him were red, brown, and white horses.
00:45:48
Speaker
Who does he see? He sees Jesus. I asked, what are these, my lord? The angel who was talking to me, there's an angel here as well, says, I'll show you what they are.
00:46:01
Speaker
When the man standing among the myrtle trees explained, they are the ones the Lord has sent to go throughout the earth. And they reported to the angel of the Lord, who was standing among the myrtle trees, we have gone throughout the earth and found the whole world at rest and in peace.
00:46:20
Speaker
Then the angel of the Lord said, Lord Almighty, how long will you withhold mercy from Jerusalem and the towns of Judah? Which I've been angry with these seven years. Sorry, 70 years of exile.
00:46:33
Speaker
In other empires. The Lord spoke kind and comforting words the angel. That's cute. And talked with me. Who talked with me? Then the angel who was speaking to me said, Proclaim this word.
00:46:48
Speaker
You're a prophet. You gotta speak God's word. Proclaim this. Say this. This is what the Lord Almighty says. I'm very jealous for Jerusalem and Zion. Not jealous of of them, jealous for them. I want them and I desire them.
00:47:02
Speaker
But very angry with the nation that feels secure. i was only a little angry, but they added to the calamity. They provoked me. Therefore, this is what the Lord says.
00:47:14
Speaker
I will return to Jerusalem with mercy. And there my house will be rebuilt. And the measuring line be stretched out over Jerusalem, declared the Lord Almighty. Proclaim further,
00:47:26
Speaker
This is what the Lord Almighty says. My towns will again overflow at prosperity and the Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem. So basically they've lived in exile for 70 years and Lord says, I'm going to send them back to Jerusalem. I'm going to send them back home. I'm going to rebuild them. We're going to start off from scratch.
00:47:45
Speaker
They provoked me. They ticked me off. They did a bad job. lot of evil things. They became those evil nation on earth. But I'm going to restore them. So this Zechariah having a vision, and sees Jesus among myrtle trees, and there's an angel, and they're having three-way conversation.
00:48:04
Speaker
Why myrtle trees? Not just because they're beautiful, as you can see in the pictures, but in Jewish tradition in ancient times, myrtle branches were sometimes given to the bridegroom as he entered the nuptial chamber after a wedding.
00:48:23
Speaker
Like I've said to you multiple times in this series, Israel is the bride of Christ. Geographical, national, saved Israel is the bride of Christ. So Jesus is basically saying, I'm wooing Israel back to myself.
00:48:37
Speaker
They let me down. They were like Gomer, Hosea's wife, whoring about with other demons. But I'm still faithful. I'm still true. And myrtles are both the symbol and sent to the Garden of Eden in ah the book Sefer Ha'Hedionot, another Jewish text.
00:48:55
Speaker
So for ancient Jews, they would have made that association, that connection, that this was like a return to the Garden of Eden, a return to a holy pre-fall state.
00:49:09
Speaker
In Zechariah chapter two, verses five to 13,
00:49:17
Speaker
We're told that Jesus will be the fiery wall protecting Jerusalem. The Lord is going to send his people back to Jerusalem.
00:49:31
Speaker
And Jesus is going to supernaturally surround us in holy fire to defend it from its enemies. And just as today, Jerusalem always has enemies, Israel always has enemies.
00:49:47
Speaker
It was the same in the Old Testament. From the moment that the nation was formed by the Lord, they've always had enemies. The devil has always wanted to wipe them out. To wipe them off the face of the earth.
00:50:07
Speaker
But this... is possibly my favorite story in Zechariah. Chapter three.
00:50:15
Speaker
Verses one to ten.
00:50:19
Speaker
Zechariah was on the earth. He was alive. he was not dead. But the soul has layers. It's like an onion.
00:50:31
Speaker
and Think, for instance, of these cardboard pieces that I'm holding up. ah's just it makeup This one here with the face, that's your happy personality. That's got that's a layer.
00:50:50
Speaker
But then you might have a layer from your childhood. Childhood trauma. Childhood trauma number one. Then you have a layer of childhood trauma number two.
00:51:02
Speaker
Then you have a layer of your most passionate self. Then you layer of memories. got a layer of your INFJ personality type from the Myers-Briggs personality test.
00:51:17
Speaker
Then you have, don't know, you are you're your your inner lioness, whatever it is. They're all layers, but they're all 100% layers of you and of me.
00:51:32
Speaker
Onions have layers, ogres have layers, human souls have layers. So Zechariah's not dead. He's still alive. But a layer of his soul is taken up into heaven. Because God's supernatural and he wants it.
00:51:51
Speaker
So he takes a layer of Zechariah's soul into heaven into a very specific room. The court of heaven. And in that courtroom in Zechariah chapter 3, Zechariah sees Jesus He sees Satan. Yes, Satan can enter heaven.
00:52:12
Speaker
Don't worry, when you're in heaven, you're not going to see him walking on, like, you know, playing hopscotch on streets of Beryl and Lapis Lazuli. There are very restricted areas Satan can enter, but he can enter a certain courtroom in heaven. That's biblical.
00:52:28
Speaker
Jesus is there. Satan's there. There's an angel there who works for Jesus. Obviously, that's what angels do. But there's also a layer of another person's soul.
00:52:42
Speaker
And this is Joshua, the high priest of Israel. Joshua's not dead. He's alive. Zechariah's on the earth alive and well. Joshua's on the earth alive and well. But a layer of Joshua's soul is in heaven.
00:52:55
Speaker
And a layer of Zechariah's soul is watching all this going on.
00:53:00
Speaker
And we're told that in the supernatural now, not the natural, the supernatural, The high priest Joshua is wearing clothes that are filthy.
00:53:15
Speaker
Filthy is a very clean translation of that word. In the more accurate Hebrew to English translation, words include soiled, human waste, or i didn't even know this was a word until like six hours ago, excrementitious waste.
00:53:35
Speaker
Basically, he's covered in poop. He's covered in crap. Now, your supernatural body does not urinate or defecate. ace It can't. It's supernatural. It's not natural.
00:53:47
Speaker
But what does this mean? Sin is crap. Sin stinks. Sin leaves residue. Sin is solid.
00:53:59
Speaker
And it was all over him. the devil's like, nah, nah, nah, this guy's a scumbag. i want to oppress him. I want to destroy him. I want to steal, kill, and destroy this man.
00:54:11
Speaker
and Jesus turns to the angel and says, get that off him. Put on a new robe, a righteous robe, a robe of righteousness. Put a turban on his head.
00:54:23
Speaker
I'm redefining him. I call him holy. I call him pure. I call him justified, just as if he'd never sinned. I say he's righteous, he's right with God.
00:54:39
Speaker
I put my holiness on him. My goodness. My word is more important than the devil's word.
00:54:51
Speaker
You know, i began a story earlier, I never ended it. When I got to the NCT test today, yeah thats um I saw two words put together on my NCT report form that I had never seen put together in all of my years of speaking the English language. 32 and a half, in case you're wondering.
00:55:13
Speaker
but but Again, if you don't know, the NCT test tells you the road worthiness of your car. um Anytime I've gone before, it said passed. Excellent. Amazing.
00:55:24
Speaker
Road worthy. Today, my NCT test report came back majorly dangerous. but I just said, right.
00:55:38
Speaker
I knew that there was something wrong with the brakes. I didn't realize there were like 13 other problems. so Didn't stop me driving at home. So something's slumpin's working.
00:55:51
Speaker
But even though the NCT test people said my car was majorly dangerous, I said, Barbara, that's what I call her. I said, Barbara, You are fearfully and wonderfully made. The mechanic's going to fix you up. He's going to put a robe of righteousness on you.
00:56:08
Speaker
It sounds like a silly example. You have to do that with yourself. When that voice in your ear, whether it's your imagination or literally a demon, says, you're a piece of scum. Go kill yourself.
00:56:22
Speaker
No one wants you. No one needs you. No one would mourn you. You destroy everything you touch. You've come from nowhere, you've arrived nowhere, you're going nowhere. You have to say, i bind that in the name of Jesus Christ.
00:56:37
Speaker
I put fetters and chains on that word in the name of Jesus Christ and on the demon who spoke it. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am justified in Jesus, just as if I never sinned. I'm righteous, I am right with God.
00:56:55
Speaker
I have been mediated with him. I'm in right relationship with him. I'm a prince or a princess of heaven. I'm a child of God. The old is gone. the new has come.
00:57:07
Speaker
That has to be automatic. You don't hear what the enemy says and ponder it for five minutes. Because what happens then? That is you bringing a watering can to the enemy's seed.
00:57:19
Speaker
I've done that. I remember it was my third year at university. Probably day one or day two. And I'd had super friends for couple of years. Came back in third year. Most of my friends were taking year out or I'd moved on.
00:57:34
Speaker
And I was walking past a river on the way to my accommodation. And the enemy just said, Brendan, you're shocking lonely right now, aren't you? I knew it was the devil.
00:57:45
Speaker
Now, I'm not saying Satan, but devils more generally. I could have said, screw you. you I could have said, what? I've got super housemates waiting for me 20 minutes this way.
00:58:00
Speaker
I could have said, what? I made amazing friends in first year and they're still in English and history class. We see each other four days a week. I didn't. I said, yeah, yeah I am.
00:58:16
Speaker
And it may have taken me five minutes to walk alongside that river. But I spent those five minutes thinking about the Enemies report. And you know what? I spent the next seven or eight months suffering from social phobia.
00:58:33
Speaker
Literally terrified of speaking to people. I would lock myself in a room and I literally would not be able, physically incapable, of opening the handle and stepping outside room.
00:58:45
Speaker
Because I let one worthy enemy in. me in we had that We're in a spiritual warp. You see in all these scriptures that Jesus has absolutely no patience. Well, he doesn't have patience we'd all be dead. He has no time for sin.
00:59:01
Speaker
He despises sin. He makes no allowance for sin. You have be like that in your own life. You have be that determined to stop any sin you're tolerating, to stop any sin you're explaining away, to stop any sin that you say, well, it's just my advice. It's just ah just my thing.
00:59:22
Speaker
yeah You have to stop. Because Jesus hates it. And you can see that not only does the enemy sling mud at you, but when you're complicit, sin physically leaves residue. Your spirit man's alive and well. You're still good with God.
00:59:39
Speaker
Your soul will get stained. Your spiritual clothes will stink up the room. And every demon in a 10 kilometer radius is going to notice.
00:59:50
Speaker
You can't hide it. They can see these things.
00:59:54
Speaker
You come back to the word Jesus spoke. You're clean. You're good. But he did give Joshua a warning. And it's in verse 7.
01:00:05
Speaker
This is what the Lord Almighty Jesus says. If you will walk in my ways and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts.
01:00:18
Speaker
If you want to step into everything i have for you, sin has to stop.
01:00:24
Speaker
Then Jesus hands him a stone and the stone has seven eyeballs. Now you might be looking at that picture thinking, oh my goodness, if Jesus gave that to me, I'd give it it right back to Jesus. I'd say, no thanks, I'm good. I have enough rocks in my garden.
01:00:41
Speaker
This is a representation of Holy Spirit.
01:00:48
Speaker
In Revelation five six we're told that the sevenfold spirit of God is in front of the throne of Jesus and hope and Father God. The Holy Spirit's in you, he's in me, he's around the world, a never believer, he's looking for whoever's ready to be saved.

Enoch, Elijah, and Malachi: Prophetic Roles

01:01:03
Speaker
Again, they're all 100% layers of the same Holy Spirit. But he does have seven replications of himself, all 100% layers of himself before the throne of of God of Jesus. Why?
01:01:18
Speaker
Because they love unity and they love each other so much. You might wonder, why is Evan? Well, they're different expressions of him. They're all the same Holy Spirit, but different expressions. One is the Spirit of the Lord.
01:01:33
Speaker
One is the Spirit of Wisdom. The Spirit of Understanding. The Spirit of Counsel. The Spirit of Strength. The Spirit of Knowledge. and the spirit of the reverential awe, that fearful admiration of God.
01:01:49
Speaker
That's in Isaiah 11, 2. eleven two
01:01:57
Speaker
In Zechariah 4, 12 to 14, Zechariah starts seeing mad pictures. And it says, i asked him, what are those two olive branches beside the two gold pipes that pour out the golden oil?
01:02:14
Speaker
He replied, you know what these are? i lord, I said. as as though it was like obvious. So he said, these are the two who are anointed to serve the lord of all the earth.
01:02:28
Speaker
So he sees two olive branches. He sees this object with two pipes.
01:02:39
Speaker
The pipe pouring out the oil is the person of Jesus pouring out Holy Spirit oil over the earth. The olive branches, there are two of them, that's important, are two people who are going to talk about how amazing God is.
01:02:54
Speaker
Again, i said this at the very start today, you cannot say you've studied the Old Testament if you have ignored end time prophecy. Why not?
01:03:05
Speaker
Because there are only two people in all of the Old Testament, who went to heaven before the crucifixion of Jesus. Two people who were raptured. One of them was Enoch. a At a time when there were giants on the earth, half-angel, half-human hybrids, Enoch got raptured up into heaven.
01:03:30
Speaker
He never died. The Lord just took him. He loved the Lord. He talked about the Lord. He prophesied the Lord. The Lord just took him. People looked, couldn't find him. He didn't go to paradise. He didn't die.
01:03:41
Speaker
went to heaven.
01:03:43
Speaker
And then in 2 Kings, there was another man, Elijah, a great prophet, an amazing prophet. And again, a chariot of fire, heavenly transport. Things are on fire in heaven. It's fine. They're not in pain. It's just how they look.
01:03:58
Speaker
Came down to the earth. Elijah just hopped on it because what else did he do? And it flew off into heaven. He went to heaven, never died. just chilled out in heaven.
01:04:11
Speaker
Enoch and Elijah were in heaven for the rest their lives, and they're still there now. They're the only two people who've lived and have never died, ah apart from those on the earth today who are still alive and have their life and else, you know, yada, yada, yada.
01:04:26
Speaker
They're the only two people ever to have been raptured. So they've seen Jesus, and he has told them amazing things. In the book of Revelation, The Lord will send two witnesses to the earth during the apocalypse, when most of the earth is totally devoted to evil.
01:04:46
Speaker
Then the Lord sends those two witnesses back down to the earth to resist the regime, to show the power of God, and to tell people, turn away from evil and choose Jesus. He's great, he's amazing.
01:05:00
Speaker
We have spent more time with him than any other human ever.
01:05:07
Speaker
Please, repent and relent. The two witnesses of the Revelation are the only two humans never to have died in the Bible, Enoch and Elijah. And that's about Vision 1.
01:05:20
Speaker
The two men in heaven and intimacy with Jesus.
01:05:28
Speaker
And then we get to our final appearance of Jesus today. It's another prophecy. This Malachi chapter 4, verses 1 to 6. It says, surely the day is coming.
01:05:45
Speaker
It hasn't come yet. It's still in our future. It will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble.
01:05:58
Speaker
And that day that is coming will set them on fire, says the Lord Almighty. What is this? is the day the apocalypse ends. The day Jesus comes back on a white horse with a double-edged sword, with the army of heaven behind him, to deal with every demon, that includes Satan himself, the Antichrist, the false prophet, the ten kings, and every human who is working with them, which is almost every human on earth.
01:06:29
Speaker
Not a root or a branch will be left to them.
01:06:33
Speaker
You look for them and you ain't gonna find them. But for you who revere my name, there will be survivors. The sun of righteousness will rise with healing in his wings and in his light wings.
01:06:47
Speaker
Revelation tells us that Jesus has an emerald rainbow over his throne, as does the father. I believe the rainbow moves. And the light of Jesus, that rainbow is going to pew, pew, pew, pew.
01:07:00
Speaker
into the survivor's soul and heal them of every wound, every persecution, every act of oppression.
01:07:11
Speaker
And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. As your soul prospers, your physical body will prosper. It will be miracle central.
01:07:26
Speaker
Then you will trample down the wicked. They will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things, as the Lord Almighty is going to restore his people and tread on the darkness.
01:07:41
Speaker
Remember the law of my servant Moses, who we spent three weeks looking at. The decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel. That's Mount Sinai. That's where I gave him the Ten Commandments, as well as another.
01:07:58
Speaker
Several hundred commandments. See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of Lord comes. Hmm, Elijah, that's interesting. We just mentioned him. Hmm.
01:08:14
Speaker
He will turn the heart to the fathers, their children, and the heart of the children to their fathers. Or else, du duda i will come and strike the land with a curse.
01:08:32
Speaker
Who was the prophet on the earth before Jesus? Jesus' cousin, John the Baptist, just a few months older than Jesus. John the Baptist was a wild man.
01:08:44
Speaker
he lived in the desert. He ate honey with locusts mixed up in it. gave sermons that would get you kicked out of a church today.
01:08:58
Speaker
He spoke about religious hypocrisy in a way that most churches would actually come against the congregation if if the congregants spoke up in that way. He gave prophecies the likes of which most Christian YouTubers, myself excluded of course, and would probably make reaction videos and say false prophet, false prophet, false prophet, false prophet.
01:09:23
Speaker
And you know what? He didn't care. If he heard the word of God, he said it. He would call you a brood of ampi of but what of vipers, a brood of snakes.
01:09:35
Speaker
ah He'd out to the Pharisees. He'd insult the Pharisees. The mother of God told him to. He just didn't give a toss. He was vicious and aggressive in the best ways possible when it came to the integrity of God's word. And he did not back down and he did not apologize.
01:09:56
Speaker
Like original Elijah. Elijah would prophesy against the evil King Ahab and his wife Jezebel. John the Baptist had a similar ministry.
01:10:07
Speaker
He would prophesy against Herod and Herodias. Basically Herod stole his own brother's wife. And John the Baptist was like, yeah, that's kind of disgusting. That's just bad manners.
01:10:22
Speaker
And he prophesied against them.
01:10:26
Speaker
Jezebel tried to kill Elijah. Herodias plotted against John the Baptist. On one occasion, her daughter danced for Herod. He was pretty wasted by then, you know, black.
01:10:41
Speaker
And the daughter gave a lovely, you know, an Irish caile. And Herod was probably stone drunk. And just said, that was the best dance I've ever seen.
01:10:54
Speaker
I'll give you up to half the kingdom. Ask me for anything. And the other girl goes to her mother and says, am Mother dearest, what should I ask for?
01:11:05
Speaker
Imagine, a young woman getting up to half the kingdom. She could have fulfilled any dream and desire she had, selfishly or benevolent. And her mother said to her, without hesitation,
01:11:19
Speaker
Demand the head of John the Baptist on a silver platter. And that is exactly what the girl went back and said.
01:11:31
Speaker
And Herod was far too embarrassed at the risk of losing face that he said, okay, behead him, kill the prophet.
01:11:44
Speaker
Why is this important? Well, Jesus said Elijah is going to come before Jesus does, before the apocalypse. But Matthew 11, 14, Jesus says that this was a metaphor.
01:12:00
Speaker
And Elijah actually meant John the Baptist. So the plan was that John the Baptist will come. And look at this nine verse 6.
01:12:11
Speaker
He would turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts the children to their fathers. So he'd actually put families back together again. He would unite the nation around a common cause. And then they'd all turn to the Lord.
01:12:24
Speaker
And then the end would come. Jesus would destroy all evil and bring paradise on earth, bring heaven on earth, create utopia.
01:12:36
Speaker
That was the plan. And it was a good plan. It did not happen. John the Baptist did not live long enough to turn the hearts of children to their fathers or fathers to their children.
01:12:49
Speaker
He prophesied and preached for a couple years. He got locked in jail and he got decapitated. So it didn't happen.
01:13:00
Speaker
So what do we do with that? Does the whole world get annexed into hell? Oh my goodness, the Bible prophecy didn't happen. God's a liar. No, something worse happened. Jesus said in Malachi 4, well, Holy Spirit said in Malachi 4, if this does not happen, if John the Baptist does not succeed, if the people don't get behind him, I will come and strike the land a curse.
01:13:27
Speaker
And what happened in 70 The Roman Empire absolutely demolished the nation of Israel. And it continued like that up until just after World War two
01:13:41
Speaker
So because the biblical prophecy didn't happen, because John the Baptist's timeline got cut short, there was a big prophetic problem. And now because Elijah 2.0, John the Baptist, did not succeed, that is why in the apocalypse, Jesus sends the actual Elijah back down to the earth.
01:14:08
Speaker
So when the apocalypse begins, Jesus like, well, John the Baptist, it was his job. Didn't happen. Not his fault. going to send real Elijah, actual Elijah back down to the earth with Enoch.
01:14:22
Speaker
And they will prophesy. And they'll preach. And they'll work miracles. For three and a half years. And then, after that, Jesus will come back in His glory in warfare.
01:14:41
Speaker
He will deal with the spiritual and human darkness. But for those, that remnant, that holy remnant, who say he's Lord. He's amazing. He's God.
01:14:54
Speaker
He is the king. he is holy. Look at us. We don't have the mark. Nothing on our right hand, nothing on our forehead. We knew were coming. We're on your side.
01:15:04
Speaker
glory.
01:15:06
Speaker
Rainbow, his emerald rainbow. That's why I believe, um' sorry British people, that's why I believe Ireland is God's favorite country on earth, where the emerald isle, God loves green. His emerald rainbow is gonna zap those survivors, make them 100% prosperous in their soul, 100% prosperous in their bodies, and Holy Spirit's gonna dwell on them, and they will all, every single one of them, be saved.
01:15:36
Speaker
and hear from God with crystal clear clarity in dreams, visions, prophetic words, prophetic utterances, they will happily ever after in a world that Jesus rules and reigns from.
01:15:48
Speaker
From Mount Zion, in Jerusalem, in Israel, for 1,000 years. And
01:15:58
Speaker
and that prophecy, literally, by the Old Testament, ends. And then 400 years pass of prophetic silence.
01:16:14
Speaker
Did God speak in dreams, impressions, visions? Yeah, sure. But in terms of written scripture, Holy Spirit gave no such utterance for the next four centuries.
01:16:26
Speaker
And that's when you get to Book of Matthew with the b young Virgin Mary having an encounter with the angel Gabriel and being told that she would conceive that very same Messiah, whose job it is, to bring about the salvation and redemption of all humans and to deal with evil in totality.
01:16:52
Speaker
So guys, want to thank you so so much for being on this journey. of Discipleship, Volume 2 of Jesus in the Old Testament. This is one that God has been speaking to me about literally since I was about eight years old. It was the first revelation i ever got from Holy Spirit, is that the God walking around in Genesis chapter 3 was Jesus.
01:17:15
Speaker
and So I've literally been sitting on this series four what's thirty two minutes eight For, 8. For 24 and a half years.
01:17:25
Speaker
Actually, it was probably in July when I was 8 that God said this to me. So yeah, about 24 years almost to the day. and So hope that you enjoyed that. I know today's was quite different in that there was a lot of end time prophecy in it.
01:17:42
Speaker
But actually, was a nice segue. kind of finished off this series, but it helps be a launching pad into season three, which we will start back probably in late October, or early November this year. going give myself a few months to make it.

Future Series: End Times and Community Engagement

01:18:01
Speaker
I've got off to a good head start, but I just need to actually properly delineate, you know, day by day, chapter by chapter.
01:18:09
Speaker
And that series, and it's on the end times. I am fed up to the back teeth of Christians talking about the end times and pretending that they know what they're talking about when they very evidently do not.
01:18:23
Speaker
And convincing themselves of just lies from the devil and confusion and and nonsense. it it It hurts my head.
01:18:33
Speaker
So I could sit around complaining about it or I could just do it myself with God's help, of course. So with that series, like I said, going to start back in late autumn, early winter.
01:18:47
Speaker
And God is going to, God is going to, we as a family are going to start off in lu Genesis. and Okay. This nonsense of people saying, let's look at No.
01:19:05
Speaker
Literally, if you read Genesis 1-1 in Hebrew, the end of the world is hidden in Genesis 1-1. The start of all things and the end of the world is literally hidden in that verse, we're going to look at.
01:19:20
Speaker
We're going to start in Genesis and we're going look at the creation of evil. People oversimplify the start of evil. They just say, oh, the Angel Lucifer had a bad day once and he said, I wish people were singing songs to me. And then he became the devil.
01:19:38
Speaker
no No, no, no, no. We're going to look at the real story of what's going on there. The creation of evil. The end times, the Antichrist, it was always the plan.
01:19:50
Speaker
A lot of Christians have this idea that, one, we're living in the apocalypse now. I'm sorry, friends, I've got one thing to say to you. When the apocalypse happens, no one will be sitting around drinking Coca-Cola, eating McDonald's pizza, and watching Disney+. plusp There, I've said it.
01:20:08
Speaker
Things aren't great out there, but this is not the apocalypse. Number two, that people often say, is that the devil's just going to wake up one day, assuming he ever falls asleep, and just decide, what, I think I'd like to conquer planet Earth today, and then the apocalypse begins.
01:20:27
Speaker
No to both. Taking over the earth in the form of a human vessel has always been his plan.
01:20:37
Speaker
From the moment evil was found in him, the devil has known that was necessary. I know I've turned around words like the Antichrist quite a lot today. some of you might not even know what Antichrist is.
01:20:51
Speaker
We'll get there in autumn, early winter. But it's always in the plan, the number one plan from the get go, the conception of evil. So we're gonna start there.
01:21:03
Speaker
Then we're gonna look at the days of Noah, because Jesus said the apocalypse would be a heck of a lot like the days of Noah. So there are clues in the days of Noah that we need to look at.
01:21:16
Speaker
Then we're gonna look at the very first end times government, the first one world government. where one man ruled the world. Again, it's all hidden in the book of Genesis.
01:21:29
Speaker
We're gonna spend a lot of time in Genesis. It's gonna be a series on the end times with a heck of a lot of focus on the first book in the Bible. Then we're gonna start to slowly, and when I say slowly, little bit different from these sessions. And here, you know, we're averaging 60, 90 minutes.
01:21:47
Speaker
six feet ninety minutes Some of these sessions might be 30 minutes. Some might be 90. But we're going to look at it piece by piece. Jigsaw piece here, jigsaw piece there, jigsaw piece there. And I'm not afraid if this takes three quarters of a year or a full year.
01:22:03
Speaker
Not. Because I want you to know that you know that you know you're getting the word of God. You're not getting my opinion. You're not getting a hackneyed opinion from someone I saw on internet.
01:22:15
Speaker
But piece by piece, layer by layer, we're to build up an architectural lasagna of revelation.
01:22:24
Speaker
All throughout the Old Testament, there are times when the devil has tried to bring about the apocalypse. Again, it's not a plan he has the future. The enemy would bring about the apocalypse today if he could.
01:22:37
Speaker
Obviously, you know, without Jesus winning. but That's not part of his plan. He's tried a lot. And there are times he has very nearly succeeded. We're going look at those.
01:22:49
Speaker
I want you to see that there's a reason it's not called the end time. It's called the end times with an S because the enemy has always had plans and they failed. Another planet failed. Another planet failed. Another planet failed.
01:23:03
Speaker
It's not a one time scheme. it's always the agenda. And it's all hidden in plain sight in the Bible.
01:23:14
Speaker
Then we're gonna spend a considerable amount of time in the life of Jesus. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. Early Acts. Again, they are absolutely brimming with end time prophecy. But people miss it.
01:23:29
Speaker
People take what we know now and they so try to stick it into Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. doesn't work. They convince themselves it doesn't work. Jesus gave a lot of prophecies about the apocalypse, but people miss it. We want to spend a lot of time in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. We're going to revisit some of the prophecies we've looked at today, all about the apocalypse. People read it and go, Luke, I don't know how to instruct it.
01:23:54
Speaker
But when you see it in context, it's to make far more sense. Eventually, we will get to the book Revelation, because it's hard to start the end of the world, at the last book in the Bible.
01:24:06
Speaker
But we're going to look at all the prophecies in the Old Testament that are fulfilled in Revelation. I think about 500 or so are fulfilled. Old Testament prophecies are fulfilled in Revelation.
01:24:19
Speaker
We're going to put them together. So we're not just going to read it like, you know, verse, verse, verse, verse. At end, going read a little bit and say, okay, all these Old Testament prophecies, God's not being scary. God's not just being angry because someone used a the F-bomb.
01:24:37
Speaker
These are prophecies about this event. And you're just how wicked, evil, and malignant these people are going to be in the apocalypse. And why it is so necessary for heaven to fight back. We're going to at the world of heaven.
01:24:52
Speaker
we're in the Joshua generation, we're going to look the of heaven in Sundays time. But in Revelation, going to look at the world of heaven. Heaven is more amazing and fascinating and fabulous than you could possibly imagine. There's a reason we're supposed to want to be there.
01:25:07
Speaker
not a place where people wear white and just sing all day until eternity runs out. No. You'll be more alive in heaven than you ever are in the earth. We're looking at heavenly creatures.
01:25:19
Speaker
Seraphim, Cherubim, living creatures, the elders, and all sorts, you know, different kinds of angels, hosts of heaven, where they train their training ground. We're looking all that in the book Revelation.
01:25:36
Speaker
and explain to you what the Antichrist is, what the false prophet the idol of desolation, the of the abomination. I'm gonna show you historical attempts that the devil has tried to bring in the apocalypse, even in recent decades.
01:25:54
Speaker
A lot of people say the apocalypse is happening now. Well, it isn't. But we're gonna look at that too. Why do people think it's happening now? Because the devil wants it to. Again, without Jesus saving the day,
01:26:06
Speaker
We're gonna look at that as well. And ultimately how Jesus not only defeats the devil, but ultimately remakes reality. Dissolves reality into less than atoms and then restarts reality, remakes reality in a world where evil will never exist ever again.
01:26:32
Speaker
And where where do we fit into all that? We'll still be alive. We'll still be ourselves. Where will we be? will be that Will we be in the new heaven? Will we be in the new earth? What's going on there?
01:26:44
Speaker
So it's going to be super series. And I'm not saying that arrogantly because I'm going to make it super. going to say it's super because it's the word of God. And Holy Spirit is super.
01:26:54
Speaker
And just revealed those wonderful and incredible things. So that will be our discipleship. Volume 3 series, again, starting in late October or early November. You've heard it here first. I know I was slow to start Decision Volume 2. That's because I was waiting until I knew that I knew that I knew it was a god thing and not my ego.
