Introduction to Discipleship and the Book of Joshua
00:00:02
Speaker
There we go. All right, everyone, you're incredibly welcome to today um to Discipleship, part eight of Jesus in the Old Testament.
00:00:16
Speaker
um Today, we'll be doing a survey on the book of Joshua.
Understanding Joshua's Role and Transitioning Leadership
00:00:26
Speaker
Can everybody see the screen that I'm sharing?
00:00:32
Speaker
Give me a yes or a thumbs up. Thumbs up. So all around. Happy days. Lovely.
00:00:39
Speaker
All right. So Joshua.
00:00:45
Speaker
I, as some of you know, run a church called the Joshua Generation named after this young man. So Joshua's name in Hebrew is pronounced Yahoshua.
00:00:56
Speaker
And the meaning is Yahweh or God is salvation or the Lord saves, he rescues, he delivers.
00:01:08
Speaker
And over time, the name got shortened to Yeshua, which is quite a ah common one ah that people tend to be familiar with.
00:01:19
Speaker
And then when the Old Testament was translated into Greek, Yeshua, or its original form, Yahshua, instead became Isus.
00:01:31
Speaker
And now in English, we translate it Jesus. Okay, so think of Joshua as, you know, what Jesus' name would be if you were born today, for instance.
00:01:43
Speaker
He would be Josh or Joshua.
00:01:47
Speaker
Now, Joshua was given name role of leading the nation of Israel after Moses.
00:01:58
Speaker
So we spent three weeks looking at Moses and we started off by looking at how there was a call on his life, aged 40, to deliver the people of Israel, but they did not want him.
00:02:16
Speaker
So he ran away and he came back 40 years later. And then he did lead them out of bondage, but they did not want to enter the promised land.
00:02:27
Speaker
So they spent 40 years walking around in the wilderness rather than inheriting their destiny. So Moses died at age 120. And then Joshua became his replacement.
The Reality of the Promised Land
00:02:42
Speaker
So again, Joshua is the Old Testament name of what Jesus' name would be today.
00:02:52
Speaker
But the Lord told Joshua that the promised land had already been invaded and colonized by the enemy. So often we have this idea as Christians where the promised land, whatever it is you're praying for,
00:03:08
Speaker
is a place where you put your feet up and you start sipping margaritas and you're sitting on a beach lounge and everything is very, very peaceful and everything's very happy and there are no confrontations. Your life has no drama. but I wish.
00:03:23
Speaker
If you find that place, tell me where it is. Sounds great. In my experience, that's totally and utterly imaginary. The Word of God describes the Promised Land as a place where God wants you to be.
00:03:39
Speaker
to take captive the things of darkness, to push back the empire of darkness.
00:03:51
Speaker
The promised land, yes, it's a place of peace, but before you get that peace, you have to pick up your swords.
00:04:01
Speaker
It's not a peace that's freely given. It's a peace you have to fight for. Because the enemy has already taken that territory.
00:04:13
Speaker
Let's say, for instance, if you pray for a new house and God says, okay, I'll move you to this new neighborhood. Okay, well, that's nice and it's a blessing from God.
00:04:25
Speaker
But the reality is there'll be people living in that neighborhood, that a estate, who do not have Jesus. People there who have sickness, who have diseases, who have...
00:04:37
Speaker
demonic manifestations on their home who have different addictions. And God might just be sending you there to help them break free from that. Yes, it's a blessing in of itself, but it's also a place of labor.
00:04:51
Speaker
It's also a place of work. You might have to break a sweat on occasion.
Spiritual Challenges and Symbolism in Conquest
00:04:59
Speaker
And that is exactly what the promised land looked like at the time when Joshua was sent there. You see, 14 nations had moved into the Promised Land in the Israelite absence.
00:05:16
Speaker
I've done as teaching on this it's on my YouTube channel. I'll put it on the WhatsApp chat later on so you can watch it in full when I explain all these in detail and I had to defeat them all in your life.
00:05:28
Speaker
One of those nations were the Kenite. Now, Kenite, all these names are Hebrew. But Kenites in English means a fabricator.
00:05:40
Speaker
What they did was they would forge weapons from metal to a forger. A liar. If you want to achieve your destiny, you will have to overcome lies.
00:05:52
Speaker
The lies people tell about you. The lies people say, well, you're this, you're that, no one loves you, you're disgusting, you're ugly, you should go kill yourself, but I'll be better off.
00:06:05
Speaker
All this kind of thing.
00:06:09
Speaker
Another nation who had moved into the Promised Land in the Israelites' absence were the Kenizzites. Have you ever felt like you were being hunted? like there were captors gang-stalking you, they were snaring you, they were out to get you, out for your life.
00:06:28
Speaker
That's the Kenizzites.
00:06:32
Speaker
Then there were the Kadmonites.
00:06:35
Speaker
Kadmonite in English means antiquity, ancient way. Think of the religious traditions that people have that are not good for them, that are not true.
00:06:48
Speaker
They're not godly, but they refuse to break away from them. They hold on to these things like their life depends on it. Even if it means not actually having a relationship with Jesus.
00:07:04
Speaker
Doing Christian things, speaking Christianese, but actually Christ himself has been sucked their life, if it was ever there to begin with.
00:07:17
Speaker
Think of the Pharisees and the chief teachers in Jesus' day, the chief priests. They could read the Bible. They were on the payroll for teaching the Bible. That was their job.
00:07:31
Speaker
And yet when God himself stood before them, they couldn't even recognize them. In fact, they hated him.
00:07:38
Speaker
Then there were two nations, Emim and Hittites. Their name means terror. If you want to achieve your destiny and step into the promised land, your promised land, and take it by storm, take hold of everything God has for you, you have to, have to, have to get over fear. 366 times, one for every day of the leap year, the Bible says, don't be afraid.
00:08:13
Speaker
Don't fear. Don't be anxious about anything. Why would God say that? 366 times because he knows that every single day something out there has the potential to steal your all.
00:08:32
Speaker
You're supposed to look at God and say you're awesome. The enemy wants the confession of your mouth to be, that's awful.
00:08:41
Speaker
He wants to take your breath away. He wants you paralyzed. He wants you unable to move, incapable of forming a single coherent thought.
00:08:54
Speaker
You have to overcome fear. How do you do it? I'll tell you how I did in my life, because I used to be a worrywart. The big things scared me.
00:09:05
Speaker
The small things terrified and paralyzed me. I was emotionally incontinent. I just lived in this state of from fear to terror. That was the only binary in which I existed.
00:09:18
Speaker
And then one day someone said to me, if you're afraid,
00:09:25
Speaker
you have a problem with how you see God. Because you're supposed to fear God in a holy way, have a reverential awe, have a respectful admiration of him.
00:09:37
Speaker
And if you know how big and mighty and powerful God is, Nothing else should scare you. And I was humbled. I had to say, okay, I have to make a decision with an act of my will, second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year,
Encouragement and Spiritual Strength in Joshua's Leadership
00:10:01
Speaker
to choose not to be afraid, to choose not be afraid.
00:10:07
Speaker
to take fear off the throne of my heart and put Jesus back in his proper place. It wasn't easy, but it was a lifesaver.
00:10:19
Speaker
There was another nation in the Promised Land, the Perizzites. Perizzites translates in English as those who resist change or urbanization.
00:10:31
Speaker
It's apathy. It's being a squatter. tolerating the things that just sit in your life and they stop you from moving forward.
00:10:42
Speaker
You could move forward, but actually you've got your addiction in your bedroom and you kind of like it, so you just leave it there.
00:10:50
Speaker
You know that your attitude stinks to high heaven, but it's your bad attitude, it's your one and only vice, it's fine. You excuse it because it's your personality.
00:11:05
Speaker
Rephaim and Hivites, again two nations, it translates as giant. The things in your life that seem so big that they might just swallow you whole, engulf you, step on you and crush you, stamp on you.
00:11:25
Speaker
But greater is he that is in you, Holy Spirit and Jesus, than he that's in the world.
00:11:35
Speaker
The giants want you to see yourself as a grasshopper. But actually, our god sees them as grasshoppers.
00:11:46
Speaker
Another nation were the Amorites. Amorites means a sayer. Not a word we use all that often, of course. Some people would die never saying the word sayer once. means boastful.
00:12:02
Speaker
Proud. There is one word in their head. Me, me, me, me, me. me me me me You have to one, do a pride in your own life.
00:12:14
Speaker
And not let other proud people crush you or destroy you.
00:12:23
Speaker
If you have a superiority complex before God is going to use you to a great degree, he'll bring you low. He'll humble you.
00:12:35
Speaker
What the enemy does it sends boastful, proud people into your life with a superiority complex to try to make you feel inferior. But you can't do that.
00:12:47
Speaker
You have to see yourself the way God sees you. Just a man, just a woman.
00:12:55
Speaker
A sinner who was saved by grace, but who now has God of all reality living inside of him.
00:13:04
Speaker
And when something doesn't exist, that's okay, because he is life itself. And when you tried something and it didn't work out, or you failed badly, that's okay.
00:13:15
Speaker
Because he is resurrection itself.
00:13:22
Speaker
The Canaanites are also in the Promised Land. Canaanites means submission, bend the knee, cause humility. These are the ones who want you to bow down to them.
00:13:36
Speaker
Where you lose your voice. You lose your stamina. You lose your strength. You lose your fight.
00:13:48
Speaker
Girgashites and Zuzum. Zuzum means roving. Wandering. Girgashites, I always felt guilty saying that when it child, is similar.
00:13:59
Speaker
It means stranger. You find it possible to put down roots like a pilgrim.
00:14:06
Speaker
You go to a birthday party and no one talks to you. Ever. You go to a funeral or a wake and you stand by yourself because no one has anything to say to you.
00:14:23
Speaker
You're sitting at home looking at your mobile phone for eight, nine hours a day. It never rings.
00:14:32
Speaker
You go to work and all your colleagues are like, you know, workers night out. But you're not on the WhatsApp chat, so you didn't know. It's about isolating you.
00:14:47
Speaker
Freezing you, icing you out.
00:14:51
Speaker
Feeling like you could never put down roots, you don't belong. You're a wanderer, you're a stranger wherever you go. You're unknown and no one wants to know you.
00:15:05
Speaker
Then there are the Jebusites. Jebusite in English means downtrodden, depressed, victim mentality. And a few weeks ago, i was asked a spontaneous question. I think the session had just ended um victim mentality. Go back and watch that again to hear my full response on that.
00:15:25
Speaker
and But the enemy wants you to be a victim because God calls you more than a conqueror.
00:15:33
Speaker
You're a victor, not a victim. But being a victim is a state of mind. You have to choose to see yourself the way God needs you.
00:15:44
Speaker
And then there are the avin. That means to bend, to twist, to distort. Why do they do this? To ruin you and to commit iniquity.
00:15:57
Speaker
Sin on the inside. Inner sins. Sin in your heart or sin in your mind. Sin in your will.
00:16:07
Speaker
These are the nations who were already in the promised land that Joshua had to drive out and fight back against. In our lives, no one's going to know what Kenite, Gergashite, Amor and Kenite means, but just look at the part in English.
00:16:25
Speaker
In our lives, we're going to encounter those struggles in our life. but we have to overcome them if we are to achieve our destiny, clear out our promised land, and make it left the way God always wanted it to.
00:16:49
Speaker
That was no small feat. That was massively important, but massively difficult. Now for God, God could do anything he wants with super ease. All God has to do is snap his fingers and voila, everything will be finished and dealt with.
00:17:06
Speaker
But God created earth to be run by humans in step with him. He created earth for humans to take dominion as per his will, as per his leading.
00:17:24
Speaker
he commands Joshua to go the promised land to take it back. But Joshua is absolutely freaking out and we know this because God tells him three times, be strong and courageous.
00:17:45
Speaker
Strong in Hebrew means clean. Cut off everything that makes you afraid.
00:17:57
Speaker
Strong means be constant, be steadfast, be a steady Eddie.
00:18:07
Speaker
Be strong means encourage yourself. It's very easy to want other people to always encourage you, to want other people to always have to support you, to want other people to always tell you how amazing you are and give you a pat on the back and a kiss on the forehead You need to know for yourself that you are who God says you are.
00:18:35
Speaker
And be brave in that fact. That's what encourage is. Put courage in you.
00:18:43
Speaker
Strong. Sorry, ladies. It means be manly. but but Now, maybe the only men you know are men who do nothing apart from play board games and play Speak like this. Like really, really nerdy.
00:19:00
Speaker
um And, you know they're afraid of like, you know, water fights because soaking wet. I'm melting. I'm telling you, you're a stereotypical man.
00:19:11
Speaker
but Be brave. Be courageous. Take the bull by the horns. That's what God is telling men and women. His kids. Behave valiantly.
00:19:24
Speaker
Be heroic. Be urgent. Don't procrastinate. There's a difference between i need to seek God's faith.
00:19:35
Speaker
I need to seek God's opinion. And waiting 15 years before you do anything. Massive of difference. Know how important since time is and make the most of your time.
00:19:52
Speaker
Strengthen yourself in the Lord.
00:19:56
Speaker
This is an interesting one. Strong in Hebrew also means recover and repair. If your heart has been broken, get it fixed.
00:20:08
Speaker
If you try to do something and it didn't work out, cry your tears, put a smile on your face, get your act together, try again.
00:20:20
Speaker
Don't let it break you. Don't be breakable.
00:20:25
Speaker
Instead, be mighty. Harden, have thick skin. Who cares if people say you're bigot? You're ugly.
00:20:37
Speaker
Go kill yourself. I hate you. It be like water off a duck's back to you. It's not easy, but it's necessary to get to that point if you want to get your promised land.
00:20:52
Speaker
Be established. Rooted and established in God's love.
00:20:59
Speaker
Prevail. Succeed. Bind your enemy with handcuffs and ropes. Restrain your enemy. And conquer what God has for you to conquer.
00:21:11
Speaker
He's already called you more than a conqueror.
00:21:15
Speaker
And courageous. It means be of good courage.
00:21:21
Speaker
be aware. aware. Be vigilant. Don't stick your head in the sand and say, i hope everything's going to be okay. That's not fate. If you know things are bad, don't stick your head in the sand. If I just close my eyes, I'll be okay. No.
00:21:38
Speaker
That's blind fate. Which is not fate. Fate means trust. It means you look at a situation for what it is.
00:21:49
Speaker
The good, the bad, and the ugly. And sometimes the bad and the ugly outweigh the good. But it might look like you're surrounded, but you are ultimately surrounded by him.
00:22:04
Speaker
Be alert. Fortify. Build up healthy defenses. Don't build up walls. I'm just a poor boy. Nobody loves me. I'm just a poor boy from a poor family. That's a wall.
00:22:16
Speaker
That's a pity party. That's miserable. But you can build boundaries. A boundary is healthy. A boundary is i will let this person get one hour of my day, but not ten.
00:22:34
Speaker
I will let this person in so close, but that person's a drama queen, so I can't start telling her all my personal business.
00:22:49
Speaker
Be firm. you make a decision, stick to your decision. So long as there're the right decision. Make haste. Again, urgency. Be determined.
00:23:03
Speaker
No more hokey pokey. You have one foot in, and you have one foot out, you have one foot in and and you shake it up. Put both feet in
00:23:13
Speaker
And join moral bravery with trust in God. And your inner fortitude, your inner strength, expressed in decisive action.
00:23:27
Speaker
The fact that God had to tell Joshua this three times tells me he was terrified. He was bricking it.
00:23:38
Speaker
He was so in need of encouragement. Moses had been such a phenomenal leader and now Moses was dead.
00:23:51
Speaker
Who was he compared to Moses?
00:23:57
Speaker
He didn't have reputation for partying the Red Sea. Or for healing people of snake bites. He had not gone up the mountain and come back with the Ten Commandments.
00:24:10
Speaker
Twice. but But the Lord told him three times. You can do this. I have chosen you. I've called you.
00:24:22
Speaker
i have put this mantle on your life. What's a mantle? It's a coat. I've put this responsibility on you. I'm draping you in this.
Heavenly Hosts and Spiritual Warfare
00:24:32
Speaker
Because I believe in you.
00:24:34
Speaker
I believe you can succeed. And then in the end, even the people said it a fourth time. And the people encouraged their leader.
00:24:46
Speaker
They said, be strong leader, Joshua, be courageous. We've got your back.
00:24:55
Speaker
We did everything Moses told us to, and we're going to do the same for you.
00:25:08
Speaker
Now, Joshua's destiny was a military campaign for us. It's it's a military campaign prayerfully. For Joshua's physical battle. And again this series is on Jesus in the Old Testament.
00:25:24
Speaker
In Joshua 5. Jesus actually came to Joshua.
00:25:31
Speaker
And he was the captain of the Lord's army. Jesus is in overall sovereignty. And overall control. ah what the forces of heaven do.
00:25:43
Speaker
And Joshua is like. oh My goodness, this is the Lord. And here's, gonna read this part out in full. It's amazing.
00:25:57
Speaker
Now when Joshua is near Jericho, which we'll look at in a few minutes, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand.
00:26:10
Speaker
Joshua went up to him and asked, I love this line. Are you for us or for our enemies? He knew that this man was not a normal man. He was a supernatural man.
00:26:21
Speaker
He was the God man. And look at Jesus' response.
00:26:27
Speaker
Neither, he replied. but sure Joshua was kind of hoping he'd say, yours, of course, the neither, he replied. But as commander or captain of the army of the Lord, I have now come.
00:26:46
Speaker
Stop asking God to be on your side. The question is, are you on God's side? It's not about me, me, me, me. me me me It's about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. jesus
00:27:03
Speaker
Then Joshua fell face down to the ground in reverence and asked him, what message does my Lord, with a capital L, so it's Jesus, have for his servant?
00:27:15
Speaker
And the commander of the Lord's army replied, take off your sandals for the place where you are standing is holy. And Joshua did so. And I'm sure Joshua began to remember stories that Moses had told him.
00:27:28
Speaker
Take off your shoes for your standing on holy ground. And Joshua knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that this was the Lord himself in front of him.
00:27:42
Speaker
So in our lives, We all have to fight for our destiny. We have to fight for our freedom, for the things God wants us to have.
00:27:52
Speaker
And sometimes we can feel alone outmatched or that we see is the struggle. For the next few moments, we're going to look at heaven's army.
00:28:07
Speaker
We're going to look at the archangels because they're the ones who lead it. Jesus first, then a certain archangel and then the the host are under them. Then we'll look at examples of heaven's army.
00:28:20
Speaker
And then we'll look at another picture of Jesus in the Old Testament afterwards.
00:28:33
Speaker
So underneath Jesus, but above the other angels, you have archangels which are also called chief princes. Now, the word archangel only appears twice in the Bible.
00:28:46
Speaker
First Thessalonians 4.16 and Jude 1.9, but they appear more frequently than the word does. This comes from the Greek word archangelos, which means a chief angel.
00:29:04
Speaker
Heaven is a monarchy. i mean, Jesus is the king. The princes, then, are the archangels. So this is where they come in and the heavenly hierarchy of leadership.
00:29:17
Speaker
And other angels serve underneath them. There are also some nations which have been allotted to particular archangels. So for example, in Daniel 10, 21,
00:29:29
Speaker
ten twenty one One angel in particular, name is Michael, is specifically referred to as the prince over Israel, the archangel who protects Israel.
00:29:40
Speaker
So if you pay any attention, for instance, to the war going on now between Israel and Hamas, sometimes you know the news will show missiles coming from Hamas into Israel, and as soon as they cross Israel's border into the sky, they just lose power and fall to the ground,
00:30:01
Speaker
Now you know which archangels fighting on their behalf. but Protecting them and elongating their lives.
00:30:16
Speaker
The only archangel, well, the archangel who's mentioned the most in terms of warfare and the archangel Michael. So he's the commander in terms of the archangels over Heaven's army.
00:30:30
Speaker
And since we looked at Moses for three weeks in a row, Jude when Moses died, Lord buried him himself in a place where no human would ever find him.
00:30:44
Speaker
was probably Jesus himself who actually buried him. Satan, however, was watching and actually came to steal Moses' corpse.
00:30:57
Speaker
You might ask yourself, why? Why would you want to deal a dead body?
00:31:05
Speaker
Normally for occultic reasons, obviously. I personally would assume that actually Satan wanted to enter the corpse of Moses and maybe have him like as a reanimated corpse and maybe use him as like, you know the Antichrist to try to lead God's people astray. That's what I think.
00:31:26
Speaker
But the Archangel Michael came to fight against Satan, rebuked him in the name of the Lord, and Satan ultimately failed in his attempt to steal Moses' carcass.
00:31:45
Speaker
But underneath Michael, you've got the heavenly host, or heaven's army, more generally. There are millions upon millions, maybe even billions, possibly trillions of them.
00:32:00
Speaker
The spirit world is a very, very busy place between angels and demons. Now, the heavenly hosts go by a lot of different names in scripture.
00:32:13
Speaker
Effectively, they are Jesus throne room staffed. Luke 2.13, which is part of the Christmas story, calls them the heavenly host.
00:32:26
Speaker
In Psalm they're called sons of God. Now, sons and daughters of God is normally known for believers, for God's kids, but sometimes angels get that name too.
00:32:39
Speaker
In Job 38.7, they're called the stars of the morning.
00:32:47
Speaker
In 82.1, depending on the translation of your Bible, they might be called the Divine Council, the Great Assembly, Heaven's Court, or his own congregation.
00:32:59
Speaker
It's all the same group.
00:33:03
Speaker
Then you have the Host of Heaven. Can I get access to the Zoom? Yeah, it's bit curious. Just give me second, everybody.
00:33:31
Speaker
Hopefully this will work for her.
00:33:43
Speaker
In 1 Kings 22, 19, they're called the host of heaven.
00:33:49
Speaker
In 1 Kings 22, 21, the word spirits is used, which is just most general word that could have been chosen. In Jeremiah 23, 18, it's the Council of Yahweh.
00:34:03
Speaker
in 1 Samuel 1, 13, they're called hosts. Although that includes every creature on earth as well. So they're all different kinds of creatures, but effectively... Sorry, different kinds of names.
00:34:17
Speaker
But effectively, whenever the Lord has work to be done on the earth, he turns to his army. He does look for their opinion.
00:34:27
Speaker
He looks them to weigh in. He looks for their suggestions. If they tell him something he likes, great. I'm sure if they give him an idea that's a bit stupid, he's very polite and says, thanks for your contribution, but let's brainstorm. Let's think of something different. but but But he does ask for their opinion as well.
00:34:54
Speaker
You might see the wholee of the word host, depending on your Bible translation, a lot. In many translations, as many as 261 times in the Old Testament, you will see the Lord of hosts.
00:35:08
Speaker
And it's first referred to in 1 Samuel 1.3, where the word host is sabayat in Hebrew, which means armies. If, like myself, you have an n i v a new international Bible or an international version, you're not going to see Lord of hosts.
00:35:29
Speaker
Instead, you will see Lord Almighty. But it's the same thing. He's almighty, he's all powerful. And the picture of that is having an army. That's endless.
00:35:43
Speaker
So here are a few examples where you can see the hosts of heaven at work in the Bible. One of them is in Genesis 32, 1-2. You might remember that we looked at Jacob a few weeks ago.
00:35:56
Speaker
Jacob was the younger of two twins. His older brother was Esau. Jacob was a scallywag who took everything Esau had ever wanted from him and then ran away for dear life.
00:36:09
Speaker
And then he had a crazy love life where he married two sisters and was also sleeping with their maidservants. And he had ah lot of kids.
00:36:21
Speaker
When he was on his way back to meet Esau again, we're told in Genesis 32 that angels of God met him. And when Jacob saw them, he said, this is God's host.
00:36:35
Speaker
And he called the name of that place Mahanaim, which means two camps. So he realizes that where he is, There's a heavenly encampment around him.
00:36:47
Speaker
When you are going where God wants you to go, when you are about the father's business, the heavenly hosts are around you, camping around you, setting up military encampments, military tents, military you know trenches all around you, military protections.
00:37:12
Speaker
You might ask yourself, But bad things have happened to me, so they weren't very useful.
00:37:21
Speaker
I would wager. On your worst day, you have only suffered a small fraction of the fullness of what the enemy had in store against you.
00:37:35
Speaker
Just the part that spills over.
00:37:40
Speaker
You have no idea just how much you are actually protected every single second of every single day by the Lord's army.
00:37:53
Speaker
And it will only be when you get to heaven that you will actually fully begin to understand. When you say, Lord, please show me my life, you know, 24 hours of it.
00:38:05
Speaker
And he shows you a movie of that day and you realize the absolute vile, disgusting plans the enemy had against you. And you're able to see on a 4D chessboard just how much the Lord was fighting on your behalf to protect you.
00:38:31
Speaker
In 1 Kings 22, 19, there's a prophet named Micaiah. Now there's an evil king named Ahab who has incredibly evil, wicked intentions um for the Lord's nation.
00:38:48
Speaker
And Micaiah is a prophet who really upsets him. You know, today there's a trend in a lot of congregations. Christians shouldn't talk about politics. Don't talk about politics. Don't poke out politics on your Instagram. If you make someone angry, they're going to go to hell and it's your fault.
00:39:08
Speaker
I say, bald. It's that. The Bible has two books, both called kings. If you're a Christian and you don't know what's happening in your political realm, in your country, it's
00:39:22
Speaker
any ah so I'm not going to say watch RTE or buy a newspaper because most of it is left-wing trash, but you need to start expanding your horizons. Ask God what's happening in your political realm because you will get the news from him before the news will tell you what the news is.
00:39:41
Speaker
But it is imperative for God's kids, especially those who have prophetic gifts, to know what's happening in the political realm and to speak out against it.
00:39:52
Speaker
And Micaiah did just that. He drove the evil king crazy because he would not tolerate the wickedness. It's the same reason, effectively, that Jesus' cousin John the Baptist was killed.
00:40:10
Speaker
Because he was a prophet, a wild prophet. And he looked at what was happening with Herod marrying his brother's wife. And he said, well, I'm not going to pretend that this is okay.
00:40:22
Speaker
So he spoke out against us.
00:40:26
Speaker
In Micaiah's vision, he saw Jesus sitting on the throne. Now we know it's Jesus because in John 1.18, it says that no one had ever, by that stage, no one had ever seen God the Father except the Son who came from him.
00:40:46
Speaker
So when Jesus, when God has seen the Old Testament, it's Jesus, God revealed. And on the right and on the left of God enthroned, Jesus, Micaiah saw the host of heaven.
00:41:03
Speaker
He saw heaven's army.
00:41:08
Speaker
They're around the Lord and they're awaiting instruction from the Lord.
00:41:18
Speaker
The hosts of heaven are also seen 2 Kings, chapter 6, 16-17.
00:41:29
Speaker
Where an evil nation besieges a city, and people are freaking out. In fact, even in the prophet's guild, the servant of the prophet is freaking out. Sometimes when things start to get hairy, they start to go sour, they start to turn bad, God's people freak out more than anybody else.
00:41:48
Speaker
which is sad and embarrassing, but it's real life. And I just love this. God's man, God's prophet says, open your eyes.
00:42:05
Speaker
And next thing is spiritual eyes open and he sees all around the hills and mountains. God's heavenly host are there.
00:42:17
Speaker
Angels who are fiery and their weapons are flaming and their living creatures, which to us would look like horses, are fiery and their chariots are fiery.
00:42:30
Speaker
None of them are in pain. Okay. In heaven, lots of things are on fire, not in pain. It's what it is what it is because it's a spiritual world. It's its own dimension. Just roll with it. They're okay. Don't feel sorry for them. Don't pray for healing. They're grand.
00:42:44
Speaker
That's how they look. So you had God's people freaking out, surrounded by the enemy, surrounded by heaven's army. Friends, there are always more fighting on your side than against you.
00:43:01
Speaker
You might be mobbed and gang stalked in the natural. Everywhere you look, humans, including your family and friends, your neighbors and your colleagues, are lining up to despise you, to hate you, eff and blind you, tell you're good for nothing. You'd be better off dead.
00:43:20
Speaker
Destruction is coming your way. And they look to have all the cards in their hands. But there are more with you than against you in terms of Heaven's Army.
00:43:34
Speaker
You are in very good hands.
00:43:42
Speaker
ah Later in 2 Kings 1935, some people think that this might actually have been Jesus himself. Some just say it's an angel. The Assyrian army take a city captive.
00:43:59
Speaker
A portal opens from heaven. And someone, whether it's Jesus or one the hosts of heaven, flies out of it and kills 185,000 Assyrians in one night.
00:44:15
Speaker
Massacres the enemy. That is how powerful these creatures are. And then obviously God's people are spared.
00:44:29
Speaker
There are two occasions in which we see the heavenly host singing. I imagine it's pretty scary sight, especially in the second example, because, you know, I'm sure they have big manly brusque voices and they wear suits of armor and they've got lots of weapons.
00:44:47
Speaker
But when the earth was being created in Job 38, 4 7, they're called the morning stars. Look at this. Where you?
00:44:58
Speaker
Jesus says to Job, when I laid the foundation of the earth. Tell me, if you have understanding, who determined its measurements?
00:45:10
Speaker
Surely you know. That's right, Jesus can be sarcastic. He has a personality. Or who stretched the line upon it? On what were its bases sunk?
00:45:22
Speaker
Or who laid its cornerstone when the morning stars, heavenly host, sang together and all the sons of God, heavenly host, shouted for joy? At this point, he's bit fed up with Job and his wind and his wind is complaining. So he's a little bit sassy.
00:45:37
Speaker
But effectively saying that when the earth was created, the heavenly host were there singing and celebrating. Celebrating such a humongous demonstration of God's power.
00:45:54
Speaker
In Daniel chapter 10, verses 12 to 13.
00:46:03
Speaker
Daniel has a vision. And it troubles him, it disturbs him. God can give you an interpretation himself by his Holy Spirit.
00:46:16
Speaker
Or he could send someone into your life who helps you through conversation understand it. Or you might go through a certain situation understand it.
00:46:29
Speaker
In this case, God decides to send an angel to Daniel with the interpretation. The angel does not get to Daniel. Because there's a demonic king.
00:46:43
Speaker
The ultimate big bad over the Persian Mediz Empire, called the Prince of Persia.
00:46:52
Speaker
And that demon is so powerful, it stops the angel, the messenger angel, from getting to Daniel.
00:47:00
Speaker
So instead, the Lord sends the archangel Michael to battle the prince of Persia so that messenger angel can get to Daniel with the interpretation of the word that was given in the middle of the night.
00:47:18
Speaker
Here you have the chief prince archangel over the nation of Israel, fighting against the demonic overlord of that empire.
00:47:36
Speaker
Daniel 12.1 specifically tells us that Michael is the archangel who's over the nation of Israel.
00:47:50
Speaker
Now, when Jesus was arrested, because he was always gone, Sometimes, you know, what we we think of Jesus at his arrest and his crucifixion. oh he was so poor. He was so sad. He was so wounded. He was always God, okay? He was always in control.
00:48:06
Speaker
Even at his weakest, he was more powerful than his enemies, especially human enemies. If he had wanted to, he says he could have summoned 12 legions of angels to his assistance. He could said, Father, 12, and they would have come.
00:48:25
Speaker
That's Matthew 26, 53.
00:48:29
Speaker
Instantaneously, they would have been there in the blink of an eye. I know heaven is very high up there. It's a long way away. Instantaneously, that's how quickly they move.
00:48:41
Speaker
But thankfully for our sake, he endured that chastisement, that punishment, that abuse, that crucifixion, so that our sins could be put on him, the punishment for our sins could be put on him, and we could go free.
00:49:05
Speaker
Mark 13, 27 tells us where the host of heaven train and live in heaven, where the angelic barracks is in heaven. My brother is in the Irish Defence Forces.
00:49:18
Speaker
I did not know we had as many army barracks as we do before he joined us. Now it seems like every week he's in a different one around the country. I know which ones he likes. I know which ones he doesn't like.
00:49:30
Speaker
I know which ones he says are very strict, which ones he says and what needs to go in. Heaven has an army barracks for the angels. And I'm pretty sure Michael rides them hard.
00:49:42
Speaker
I'm pretty sure none of them are particularly easy places to work. but but but They're fighting against evil itself and the reason evil exists.
00:49:53
Speaker
But we're told and Mark 13, 27, and he will then send forth the angels, host of heaven. And this is an end times prophecy.
00:50:05
Speaker
And like I told you, the next series we do will be the end times. because everyone else in the world is talking about it. and Most people are talking about it badly and inaccurately.
The Fall of Jericho and Rahab's Redemption
00:50:16
Speaker
So we will look at it in a few months time.
00:50:21
Speaker
And then he will send forth those of heaven will gather together the elect from the four winds from the end of the earth to the end of heaven.
00:50:34
Speaker
Heaven has an end. That's curious. Because we're told in the Old Testament that God strides out the heavens. He makes heaven bigger and bigger and bigger every day.
00:50:46
Speaker
Because people are going up every single day. Heaven gets fuller every single day. People with new interests. Unique personalities. Unique callings.
00:50:58
Speaker
He always makes heaven bigger. Yet heaven has end. That tells me But yes, he can stretch it and like elastically.
00:51:10
Speaker
But heaven is a planet. It has a North Pole, got a South Pole. It's a sphere like our planet is. Only bigger than the Earth, considerably.
00:51:23
Speaker
The word the end of in Greek is akron. It means the extremity, the furthest end The uttermost parts, the farthest bounds, the highest, then northernmost.
00:51:40
Speaker
The angels train in heaven's north pole.
00:51:51
Speaker
you think that's amazing. These angels have to war against the most wicked, disgusting creatures you could possibly be in imagine. In fact,
00:52:04
Speaker
It does not behoove your mind to imagine the evil that demons go through. Whatever you've seen in the horror movies, firstly, don't watch horror movies. Secondly, they're like that and worse.
00:52:16
Speaker
And Heaven's Army battle against them for a living. That is their job. And that is all they will do. five well, it's their priority up until evil is no longer an issue.
00:52:32
Speaker
So the Archangel Michael trains them in the coldest place in heaven.
00:52:40
Speaker
In the extremest weather conditions in heaven.
00:52:45
Speaker
In the least comfortable place in heaven. People always say, oh, heaven's amazing. and You'll be happy forever. We'll sing for Jesus. nana That's all great. Okay, fair enough.
00:52:56
Speaker
Heaven has places you don't want to be. nothing Heaven has a place where it's really, really cold and uncomfortable. Heaven has a North Pole. And he trains them there so that they will be, up they'll be hard, with thick skin, and they'll be ready to do whatever they need to do in the war against good and evil.
00:53:22
Speaker
In Luke chapter two, 13 14, this is the second time we see them singing. When Jesus was born, Forget every Christmas card you've ever seen, okay?
00:53:34
Speaker
You always have the lovely lady angels with the long hair, and the only color they ever wear is a white dress. And some of them, just their instrument of their voice.
00:53:45
Speaker
Some of them have a harp. And it's all, Hark the heaven angels sing. Whatever the song is. Nonsense. It was not an angelic choir who came to the shepherds.
00:53:59
Speaker
It was the host of heaven. Look it up, people. Heaven's army came to the shepherds. That is why they were freaking out. There's a reason that they screamed. Because out of nowhere, these warriors in battle armor with weapons, you probably speak like this and sing in this voice, appeared out the sky. It absolutely terrified them.
00:54:29
Speaker
Jesus Christ had just come to the earth as a baby. God wanted his best warriors on the earth to defend him.
00:54:44
Speaker
I'm going to go through the Revelation examples pretty quickly because we will look at them in more detail when we do the End Time series. But in Revelation 7, 1 3.
00:54:56
Speaker
There are even angels who hold back the winds. That is their job. They are punishing wicked, evil people on the earth in those days and who come to the absolute most evil place or state of mind or behavior that any other people ever could.
00:55:18
Speaker
then these angels come and they hold back the very wind. and Sorry, I said on the screen three, that's completely and utterly incorrect. I can count my pictures. Four, there we go. And they hold back the wind.
00:55:32
Speaker
so that the earth gets very, very hot for the evil people who are massacring God's nation on the earth in those days. They don't do that to us today.
00:55:44
Speaker
we live in the age of grace, but once the rapture happens, all bets are off, and God will even use his angels to fight humans if it means saving humans.
00:56:00
Speaker
In Revelation 12, 7 to 9, it talks about a great battle in heaven at the midpoint of the apocalypse, at the midpoint of the great tribulations.
00:56:16
Speaker
For some reason, a lot of people read this and they're like, oh, this happened the days of Genesis. It really and truly didn't, friends. Revelation of the book on the future, not the book of Genesis. This is a battle that happens at the midpoint of the Great Tribulation of the Apocalypse, where the Archangel Michael leads the host of heaven in a fight against the devil.
00:56:43
Speaker
And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels, the host, fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels, demons, fought back.
00:56:55
Speaker
But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. Because right now, demons can fly in the sky, and they do have limited access even to the world of heaven.
00:57:08
Speaker
The great dragon was hurled down. that ancient serpent called the devil or a Satan who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth and his angels with them.
00:57:21
Speaker
And at that point, they only have three and a half years left before their ultimate judgment. So the devil is very, very angry because he knows his time is short. And that is when the Antichrist really ups the ante in his mass murder campaign.
00:57:42
Speaker
This climaxes in Revelation 19, 11 to when Jesus, at the end of the apocalypse, leaves heaven with his heavenly host, with his army, and they defeat and massacre the army of Antichrist.
00:58:01
Speaker
Satan is captured in chains, and he's thrown into the abyss, the bottomless pit, Tartarus, prison dimension in the lowest realm of hell, where he is punished for a thousand years.
00:58:23
Speaker
The hosts of heaven are awesome. They are really, really cool. Long before Earth ever had superheroes or fantasies of superheroes, the hosts of heaven were already fighting to defend us.
00:58:36
Speaker
However, when you're praying, we also have other weapons available to us as well. Maybe you're praying for someone and you know that they're under bondage from the enemy.
00:58:48
Speaker
Spiritual attack. Health attack. mental attacks, emotional attacks. We've got weapons of warfare that we can use in our prayer life to come against the evil spirits behind these attacks that seek to steal, kill and destroy, to ruin lives.
00:59:11
Speaker
We see them in Joshua's life being employed by God. In Joshua 10, 11, it says, as the enemy fled before Israel, and Joshua was the leader of Israel, on the road down from Beth Haran to Azekah, the Lord hurled large hailed stones down on them, the enemy, and more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.
00:59:38
Speaker
Heaven has extreme weather conditions, stored up for days of war. Here are some more weapons we have that you can use in your prayer life.
00:59:52
Speaker
Madness, blindness, and a confusion of heart.
00:59:58
Speaker
The broom of destruction. The light of Jesus.
01:00:05
Speaker
The breath of God. The waters of affliction. Boils. Daggers. The breastplate of righteousness to protect your heart.
01:00:19
Speaker
Doing right things is in of itself protection for you, especially the goodness and holiness of Jesus.
01:00:29
Speaker
The belt of truth, that you are surrounded by truth. Jesus said, I'm the way, the truth and the life. You are surrounded by him.
01:00:39
Speaker
Choose for the gospel of peace, no matter where you go, no matter how harsh the environment, how difficult or treacherous the terrain. If you're going there to share the good news of Jesus, the best news of Jesus, you can walk on lava or you can walk on stormy seas and it will be smooth beneath your feet.
01:01:05
Speaker
A flaming cherubim sword. I love this one. The arrow of deliverance. The vengeance of God engaged on our behalf.
01:01:17
Speaker
The wrath of God. The frequency of the voice of the Most High God. The burning wind. Fire from heaven.
01:01:29
Speaker
The hammer of God's word. Maybe your Bible has 2,200 pages like mine. It's like a mighty hammer. Even if it's not physically heavy, the word itself is powerful.
01:01:43
Speaker
Our knowing thorns.
01:01:47
Speaker
God's angels, of course, make the list, surrounding us roundabouts, above and below, and against every dimensional access point.
01:01:59
Speaker
The blood of Jesus, the sword of the Spirit to the Word of God. Lightning, earthquakes, airquakes, seaquakes, whatever realm you want to quake.
01:02:13
Speaker
Stopping the sun and stars from shining. The rod of iron, the shield of faith, chains, the Lord's net to trap your enemies.
01:02:26
Speaker
Prayer, garments of vengeance, a robe of divine passion and zeal. The heavenly host, a battle axe, burning coals, a deep sleep.
01:02:44
Speaker
The helmet of salvation, so you think heavenly thoughts, you think God's opinion. God's bow and his arrows. Hailstones, which we saw in that Bible verse, and the sickle.
01:03:02
Speaker
When you're praying and you know that you know that you know that the evil one has enemies assigned against to the supernatural realm, employ these weapons against him in your prayers.
01:03:22
Speaker
Now Joshua had his work cut out for him. Yes, the heavenly hosts were going to help and fight the unseen enemy. me But Joshua still had to lead his men to take back the promised land from the enemy.
01:03:43
Speaker
When Moses was 80, he led his people to the entrance of the promised land and said, all right guys, here we are. we go.
01:03:56
Speaker
Joshua said, okay.
01:03:59
Speaker
Another man, Caleb said, okay.
01:04:04
Speaker
Every other man and woman said no
01:04:12
Speaker
And their destiny was stolen from them and pushed back for decades.
01:04:20
Speaker
When Joshua became the commander, the Lord again sent them to the entrance of the promised land. And this was the city of Jericho, which some historians say is the oldest city on earth.
01:04:36
Speaker
This time, the Lord said, ah Talking, last time, is what stops you from going in.
01:04:48
Speaker
So this time, zip it. No talking. We're not making the same mistake again. As we say in Gwailgach, eist the veil.
01:05:00
Speaker
Listen to your mouth. As in, you should be saying nothing, don't speak.
01:05:08
Speaker
For those of you who have seen the first Devil Wears Prada movie, i remember Emily Blunt's character goes, I'm hearing this, and I want to hear this. So moving the hand, you know, cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha. want to hear nothing.
01:05:23
Speaker
That's what God told them. Go for a good long walk. Encircle the city and say nothing at all.
01:05:35
Speaker
This is a historian's recreation, well, an artist's recreation, of what the city of Jericho looked like before you even got into the city.
01:05:51
Speaker
From the outside, you had a wall about five meters tall.
01:05:58
Speaker
Then you had an embankment that went up about 14 meters. Then you had another wall which about two meters thick, eight meters high.
01:06:13
Speaker
That was before you got into the city. If God's people were going to freak out or have a panic attack or have a conniption or lose their minds, but but it was going to happen long before they stepped foot inside that city.
01:06:33
Speaker
So God said, say nothing.
01:06:39
Speaker
Again, many historians believe that Jericho was Ert's first ever walled city.
01:06:49
Speaker
Now, the ancient Jews believed that Satan lived on the moon. I'm not saying that's right or wrong. That's what they believed. Jericho translates in English as moon.
01:07:05
Speaker
And the people of Jericho worshipped a deity, ah god, even, named Nana. Name of Rihanna's song. Oh, Nana, what's your name, Anna? Yeah, hello.
01:07:19
Speaker
This was a city ruled by the literal Satan.
01:07:27
Speaker
Again, I'm not going to ask you to imagine what those people were getting up to. Because it would be shameful to even begin to imagine what a city ruled by Satan and people who know what they're doing would look like.
01:07:45
Speaker
But John 10.10 says the thief, the devil, comes to steal secretively and with stealth.
01:08:00
Speaker
comes to kill, which in Hebrew means to sacrificially offer you on an altar for burning.
01:08:10
Speaker
To completely ah destroy you.
01:08:17
Speaker
To cut you off entirely. To violently perish you. To cause you to be lost by experiencing a miserable end.
01:08:30
Speaker
To abolish you, to ruin you, to blot you out from the Lamb's biblical life. To vanish you away and to cause the loss of everlasting life.
01:08:44
Speaker
Most people shorten John 10.10 the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. That is what it literally translates as in the Greek.
01:08:54
Speaker
That is the devil's plan. So now you can just begin to imagine... what life was like inside that city.
01:09:08
Speaker
From the worshipers of Nana, they would write hymns. Here are some things that they said to their god, Satan.
01:09:20
Speaker
Lifting your head in your goodness.
01:09:24
Speaker
No, Satan has no goodness in him. Greatness and majesty. Majestically, you extend your arm in order to determine destinies. Well, demons have no destinies, but that's why they're trying to steal yours.
01:09:41
Speaker
Great Grandfather Anne has liberally bestowed on you your kingship over heaven and earth. Well, he would like to have kingship on heaven and earth. He has it on the earth. doesn't quite have it in heaven yet.
01:09:54
Speaker
And Enlil has perfected for you your great and noble filial status and lordship. Enlil has made majestic divinity manifest for you, determining a destiny for your flowing waters, majestic lower waters.
01:10:13
Speaker
If water is coming out of Satan, that is not water I would drink. Just saying. Oh, no, no. Your crescent moon is called the crescent moon of the seventh day.
01:10:27
Speaker
Some people think Monday ah was originally moon day. That Monday comes from Jericho. Enlil has made known throughout heaven and earth your name, which is a sacred name.
01:10:41
Speaker
Princely, son of Enlil, he has made your greatness manifest throughout heaven and earth. That is his aim.
01:10:50
Speaker
Oh, Nana. He has chosen as your inheritance that you should surpass the Anunna gods. So basically that you would be over every other spiritual being. Again, that is Satan's objective, or at least one of them.
01:11:05
Speaker
He has seated you in a sacred dwelling amid their pure divine powers. Some people today think that would mean, in today's language, a technologies, which gladden the heart.
01:11:22
Speaker
And just some more quotes from the hymns of Nana. He makes the... kisnugel. The house of the cedar forest. A tower straight upward for you.
01:11:36
Speaker
So he had his own temple. the Lord of the temple in heaven. Satan wanted one on the earth. He makes your majestic residence into a sacred place for you. The foundation of heaven and earth.
01:11:50
Speaker
He wants to be the center of reality.

Suen, or Nanner, the sage lord, majestic throughout heaven and earth, who perfects the pure dais. Asim Babar, who wears the diadem and just crowned majestic shining horns, horns, hello, lifts his head.
01:12:17
Speaker
Born in the mountains and coming forth in joy, he is a powerful force. ah lion A dragon, mighty lord. Suen, mouth like a dragon, ruler of Urim.
01:12:32
Speaker
We've just looked in Revelation that calls the devil a dragon. He is also called a lion in scripture, a lion who prowls around looking for humans to devour.
01:12:45
Speaker
and calling him a ruler or lord. Another name he went buffra by in the Old Testament is Baal, who was the god of abortion.
01:13:03
Speaker
And then light, radiance, and the crown of Urim, which the land of Ur. That's the land that Abram lived in before he left. Abraham, we looked at him a few weeks ago.
01:13:15
Speaker
Now, in addition, he desired something good, to something good. Nope, the devil only looks for things that are bad, things that are bad The Lord wearied Enlil to determine the fate of the city.
01:13:26
Speaker
My father, may you restore my city for me? No one should escape the grasp of Father Nana, him of most joy words.
01:13:37
Speaker
If the devil had his will and his way, that is correct. No one would escape.
01:13:45
Speaker
Princely Lord, princely Lord, great princeliness among the gods. Even Jesus calls him the prince of this world. At the Last Supper, Jesus said the prince of this world is coming, but he has no power over me because he's got nothing in common with me.
01:14:03
Speaker
And in the temple that, like the heavens, inspires terror and fear, you were awesome. So Jericho was the city of Satan.
01:14:15
Speaker
In fact, when Jesus was being tempted for 40 days and 40 nights and the devil took him to a high place, that high place was Jericho. The devil took him back to his own city.
01:14:31
Speaker
So in this city, this was the first place Joshua and his men had to tear down in order to enter and reconquer and take back the promised land.
01:14:46
Speaker
You might think, well, that just sounds darn near impossible. I mean, if you're playing a PlayStation game, you know, you start off with the easy levels and you work your way up to the big bad at the end.
01:14:58
Speaker
That just makes sense. Not in God's logic. In God's logic, you don't fight the Philistines first. You behead Goliath. In God's logic, Jesus didn't run around casting demons out of people first.
01:15:14
Speaker
No, he defeated Satan and his temptations first. Because if you lop off the head of the big bad, the smaller minions, well, your reputation spreads and then they know, okay, this is ah this man, this woman, this army is a force to be reckoned with.
01:15:35
Speaker
So you encounter the big challenges first. Will you have other ones down the line? Sure. But in the short term, you take down the big giant and then the other ones know the authority that you carry.
01:15:50
Speaker
So there was one woman named Rahab. Some Bible translations are very polite and they say she was an innkeeper. um Personally, I don't like polite Bibles. i like Bibles that are a bit more She was prostitute.
01:16:09
Speaker
She was a hooker. She was a slut, a whore, whatever word you want to use. She sold sex and took your money. But she heard how amazingly and mightily the Lord had looked after the Israelites in their wilderness years.
01:16:30
Speaker
And when she heard that, she said, yeah, he is mighty. He is powerful. He is the God above all gods. He is God.
01:16:42
Speaker
Our nana does not hold a candle to him. The Hebrew is God. he's He's the real deal. So Joshua sent some spies into Jericho to scout out the the land, find out how to take it down from the inside.
01:17:03
Speaker
And Rahab looked after them. She hid them under flax in her ceiling when people came looking for them. When they said, there are spies here from the Hebrews, she played dumb. Oh, really? Here? I don't believe that. Oh, my goodness. They're already gone? Woe is me. I can't believe. Oh, shock.
01:17:26
Speaker
Men ran away in the opposite direction, looking for God's people. And she held them escape and go back to their own camp. And they said, Rahab, how can we repay you? And she said, well, there is something you can do, actually.
01:17:42
Speaker
Everyone here has heard the stories of your God. Now, they didn't believe in him in a repentant way, but she did. And she said, terror has fallen on them, but they're still evil.
01:17:57
Speaker
I believe your God is the real deal. I believe he's amazing. He's mighty.
01:18:04
Speaker
And I want you When you take this city, not if, when you take the city to spare me and mine.
01:18:13
Speaker
So they said, okay, Rahab, that that sounds fair. You've helped us. We're going to help you. Take this red cord. Throw it from your window.
01:18:26
Speaker
And when we invade the city, you and every everyone in your house, so long as that red cord keeps hanging,
01:18:41
Speaker
Rahab said that sounds fair. But here's the thing.
01:18:49
Speaker
This and of itself was an act of faith.
01:18:54
Speaker
The men of Jericho knew that Israelite spies had come and gone. Now she was hanging a rope outside her window. It was going to look like she had actually helped him escape.
01:19:06
Speaker
It was going look like she'd betrayed her people. She had, but it was a good betrayal. was for God's glory. This was risky in of itself. But she did it as an act of faith.
01:19:18
Speaker
She got her parents, her siblings, the people closest to her, said, get in here. into my home. Stay here. Don't leave.
01:19:29
Speaker
And the men of Jericho, sorry, the men of Israel, began to walk around Jericho silently, as per God's instruction.
01:19:38
Speaker
One step. One step. One step. One step. Probably very afraid what if the archers began to fire arrows at them. One step. Another step.
01:19:49
Speaker
Another step. Another step. o Day one. Day two. One step. One step. Start to walk bit straighter, get some more courage, some more confidence.
01:20:05
Speaker
And each time they walked, little did they know, supernatural, spiritual tremors were moving on the ground.
01:20:15
Speaker
And the last day of the march, they shouted to the glory of God. Trumpets resounded, and the walls of Jericho came tumbling.
01:20:29
Speaker
The Israelites moved in The city you probably had about 1,200 populace or a population of 1,200 based on its size.
01:20:42
Speaker
um It all came down with one exception. Rahab's home and the people in her home, her family.
01:20:54
Speaker
Everyone there was spared. Everyone there was safe. Because just as you can see here in this picture, that red cord, it looked like blood.
01:21:05
Speaker
They would look up at this big house and just see like a trickle of blood falling down. And everyone in it was safe.
01:21:17
Speaker
We looked in our second episode in this series at how Adam and Eve sinned in Eden. On top of a mountain. it again was op So the Lord sacrificed an animal and draped them in the animals clothes as a cover.
01:21:35
Speaker
The shedding of blood.
01:21:40
Speaker
We looked at how when the Israelites were bitten by snakes in the desert. Moses lifted up a pole. Put a snake on it as a picture of the thing that hurt them, the thing that was killing them, the devil, the enemy.
01:21:59
Speaker
And if they looked up at it, and it was bronze, it was reddish, they were healed. And now we have this big house, you've looked the window, and you saw this trickle of blood.
01:22:13
Speaker
You're protected. We saw in Egypt during the Exodus, during the 10th plague, when the destroyer came to take the life of the firstborn, those who had the blood the but Passover lamb, the perfect, flawless lamb on their door.
01:22:37
Speaker
That whole family was saved.
01:22:42
Speaker
It's a picture of the cross of Jesus. they you look You raise your eyes to the cross, you look up at Christ crucified, where it's bleeding, body hung for us.
01:23:00
Speaker
And his blood poured out for us to wash us clean, to make us his to adopt us.
01:23:10
Speaker
And as for me and my household, we'll serve of the Lord. But if you believe in the Lord, there is salvation for you, rescue for you, protection for you, grace for you.
01:23:26
Speaker
And by extension, For your family. You cannot. Force Holy Spirit into your family. I wish we could. na But there is a special grace.
01:23:41
Speaker
Extended to your family. On the basis of your belief. But I believe the Lord will do absolutely. Anything and everything. To get them into right relationship with him. To get their names written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
01:23:56
Speaker
The Book of the Saved. The book of the holy, the book of the righteous.
01:24:02
Speaker
Your spouse, your parents, your siblings, your kids, your grandkids, whatever your household means, whatever your household looks like.
01:24:15
Speaker
In the very same way that he protected Rahab and everyone connected to her. We don't know what their faith was, but we know she had faith. When she said, get into my house now at least they listened. They did what they were told.
01:24:34
Speaker
And they were protected from the war, from the Holy War of Israel against Jericho.
01:24:44
Speaker
And Rahab became a valued member of the nation of Israel to one Israeli in particular, to one Israelites in particular, whose name was Salmon. Today, Salmon, for those of us in English-speaking countries, is a kind of fish.
01:25:01
Speaker
But she met an Israelite named Salmon who she fell love with and she married and made a son named Boaz. If you're in the mood for reading a love story, now that it's the month of May and the sun has been sky for longer, like, you know, a few weeks ago, that sky behind was black, now it's blue.
01:25:25
Speaker
But Ruth is a short book in the Bible, which is real love story. It's a beautiful one. Boaz married Ruth. Spoiler alert. And they had a son called Obed. Obed had a son called Jesse.
01:25:38
Speaker
And Jesse was the father of King David, the best hero in the whole Bible, they apart from Jesus Christ himself.
01:25:47
Speaker
So that Rahab, the prostitute, became Rahab, wife of Saman. They had a child, Boaz, who married Ruth, and it's very, very rare in ancient world i ancestry lines to have women mentioned. Here you have two back-to-back.
01:26:09
Speaker
Two foreigners. Ruth and Boaz had baby Obed. Obed had Jesse. Jesse had David. This is in Matthew 1.5, and Matthew 1 tells you the genealogy of Jesus Christ.
01:26:28
Speaker
So although Rahab was from Jericho originally, although she was a prostitute originally, because of her faith, she was willing to go against the grain, willing to lay it all on the line, willing to lay her life on the line, to have 1,200 people in her population turn against her and murder her for helping spies.
01:26:50
Speaker
She knew what God's will was. And the Lord honored her with a husband, with at least one son, and with a place in the genealogy of Jesus.
01:27:05
Speaker
So no matter what you've been through, no matter what challenges you've currently faced, no matter what upset, no matter where you've gone wrong, no matter the twists and turns, the bends, no matter
01:27:25
Speaker
Choices you've made that God never would have made for you. Choices you made that you would not have made for yourself you don't even know how this became your life.
01:27:36
Speaker
You're not beyond the redemption power of the Lord. You're not beyond his power to heal, to redeem, to restore, to renew, to return your destiny.
01:27:52
Speaker
And to give you a very valuable, even an invaluable part in the greater redemption story on the earth.
01:28:05
Speaker
And you've got heaven's operatives helping you along the way. Because God is absolutely good.
01:28:18
Speaker
In Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Amen.
01:28:28
Speaker
That's a little chat. Look in the chat box.
Resources and Spiritual Growth
01:28:34
Speaker
Angel. The angel train today throwing down hail over Norwich.
01:28:41
Speaker
We had a very short burst of hail stones yesterday. Very short. Thanks be to God. It didn't last long. Amen. Happy days. Lovely guys. Alright, so as always everybody, and if you would like any of the Bible studies that go with this series do just let me know, okay? It's 10 euros each, whether it's for Genesis chapter 1, verses 1 to 3, the Adam and Eve one, um the Patriarchs, and Joseph and Jacob,
01:29:19
Speaker
Abraham is in there as well. Or then there's one on Moses, which is basically three weeks worth. All three lessons Moses are in the one study. And then there's zen one that's very reflection based on today's topic.
01:29:33
Speaker
Do just let me know and that can be arranged. can get you the PDF. But for now, are there any comments, queries, or questions on anything that's been mentioned today?
01:29:45
Speaker
Are your heads full? Thanks, Anne-Catherine, that lovely message in the chat box. Thank you.
01:29:53
Speaker
I have a question. Thank you, Mary. Sure. Yeah. ah Just wondering, ah yeah you were talking about um Satan, when Moses died, that Satan wanted to have Moses' body. His body. Yeah.
01:30:15
Speaker
so in that in in real life, and some Satan can enter into and just, ah or this is a question, okay, it's a question. Can Satan enter into a person and just overtake completely?
01:30:36
Speaker
a corpse. The corpse, and so that the person does not know what it is doing. It's just filled with, and and why? is it for Is that for,
01:30:48
Speaker
is that if you it Can Satan do that Christian people? or Is it just people that are not filled with the Holy Spirit? or How is that? Again, specifically talking about a corpse, yeah? yeah Great question.
01:31:03
Speaker
Okay, so going to share with you something that you may or may not have heard of before. and if you haven't, that's okay. Because like I said, after Jesus in the Old Testament, our next series is on the end times.
01:31:18
Speaker
um But a lot of people throw around the word the Antichrist. I have heard very few people ever teaching it accurately or in a way that's even are remotely good.
01:31:32
Speaker
The Antichrist is a human who is totally sold out for the darkness. and Now, the enemy always has an Antichrist on the earth. He always has man.
01:31:44
Speaker
Because he doesn't know when the rapture happens. He always wants to be ready. but I'm talking the capital at A Antichrist, the big bad. He will be just sold out the darkness.
01:31:57
Speaker
And at some point after the rapture, at some point after we're all taken away to heaven and we're all gone, there will be a power vacuum on the earth. Some people think the apocalypse begins the day after the rapture.
01:32:12
Speaker
i wouldn't be surprised if there's a lapse in time. give Earth time to forget we ever existed. To me, that'd be strategic, but the devil will do what he's gonna But when the apocalypse begins, the perilous times the last seven years, the Antichrist is a wicked man who rules and reigns over the Earth for three and a half years.
01:32:37
Speaker
Under him, he has 10 kings. And they will divide the earth into ten districts. Each of them will be over a district with the Antichrist in overall operation.
01:32:50
Speaker
But at the halfway point, when we look at this in detail, I will pinpoint this down to the day. That is the detail we're going to go into.
01:33:02
Speaker
At the halfway point, the Antichrist will kill... Two messengers from heaven. The very first two people ever to step foot in heaven.
01:33:14
Speaker
Enoch and Elijah. They'll be sent to the earth for three and a years. They'll prophesy against the Antichrist. They'll perform miracles. At the halfway point, the Antichrist will kill them.
01:33:28
Speaker
They'll be resurrected after for three and a half days and rapture up heaven.
01:33:34
Speaker
The war we looked at there... between Michael and the host against the dragon, Satan and his demons, also happens at the halfway point where it looks like the Antichrist scores a major victory on the earth by killing the two witnesses until they're resurrected.
01:33:56
Speaker
But Michael will score an incredible victory in heaven by skewed expression, it's a cliche, clipping the devil's wings. where finally the devil will no longer be able to access heaven.
01:34:11
Speaker
But what happens is he will be confined to the earth. He'll be furious because he'll be embarrassed, but he will know his time is short. So he will decide to have operation human extinction.
01:34:26
Speaker
And his aim will be to eradicate all human life if he can. So that also happened at the halfway point. But what also happens at the halfway point, the halfway point's a very dramatic time, it's the turning point of everything, is the man, the Antichrist, dies.
01:34:47
Speaker
The Bible tells us that he's the man who is to come, who has come, he's descended into hell, and he's come back again. He's a seventh king and an eighth king. The Bible uses lots of prophetic language about him.
01:35:01
Speaker
That's to say he's a king who dies, the seventh king, But he comes back again in an eighth incarnation. And that's because when he dies at the halfway point, Satan has just gotten thrown to the earth from the Archangel Michael.
01:35:18
Speaker
So he enters into the Antichrist's corpse. And then you basically have the devil ruling the earth in a human meat sack, in a human carcass, where the Antichrist man is dead.
01:35:34
Speaker
where the devil is ruling and reigning his body and running the controls. So that is going to happen in the apocalypse. So, theoretically, can it happen now?
01:35:46
Speaker
Absolutely. And I believe that is why when Jesus buried Moses' body, the devil was either stalking, watching, or went to a lot of effort to find out where that corpse was.
01:36:04
Speaker
And I think that was his intention. To turn the whole nation of Israel into devil worshippers. That Moses would appear to have resurrected. you know, Lord, worship me.
01:36:22
Speaker
And they all would have but got fallen prostrate and begun bowing to the devil. That's what I believe is his agenda was. To bring about the apocalypse thousands of years ahead schedule.
01:36:36
Speaker
and By trying to make Moses corpse. The Antichrist. Because the enemy is sick and twisted and evil. That's what I think his opinion was. yeah Yeah. I agree. yeah But also. this this Of course this is happening also today. Because. um Satan will intervene.
01:36:57
Speaker
Into people that have. He's got their soul. Right. so So. He just enters. And he takes over. And it's sometimes it also gives me an explanation when people don't know what they have done.
01:37:17
Speaker
they for instance, they have murdered people. Sure, demonic influence. Yeah, sure. Yeah, and then they're kind of just gone in in in in a way but ah yeah But my question is,
01:37:32
Speaker
So thus can Satan do this to Christian people? Or is it only people? Could could he do it to anyone? Was he again, a corpse is just a shell?
01:37:44
Speaker
It's just an empty shell. I mean, like a living person. Like like me and you. could Could he enter into, like me and you? but But he can't, right? Because we have the Holy Spirit. Well, Satan himself or demons more generally?
01:37:57
Speaker
so so to Satan himself. There would be, see, demons aren't very creative. They kind of just copy each other. um Evil can't create. So you would have a lot of demons who would call themselves Lucifer, even though they're not actually like, you know, the big bad, the actual Satan, who would try to enter into someone.
01:38:19
Speaker
But what the enemy does, he's called the enemy of the soul. And this is not to scare anybody, but it is good to know, given that we've looked at the host of heaven today. okay to talk about spiritual things.
01:38:31
Speaker
If I leave my front door open and my back door and all my windows, I cannot be surprised if mice or rats get in.
01:38:43
Speaker
That's the reality of it. In the natural, we understand this. If a believer decides to have a pornography addiction, they cannot be surprised when spirits of lust get in.
01:39:01
Speaker
If someone decides to tell porcupines, they're a liar, they're dishonest. right They can't be surprised if spirits of deception, as the Bible calls them, get into their mouth.
01:39:14
Speaker
And they just become a habitual liar and they almost can't tell the truth anymore. If someone is always playing the victim,
01:39:29
Speaker
died Well my mother and my father are died Yeah I have a really sore foot Well I've had a migraine Since 1988 Nonsense um You can't be surprised When spirits of pain and trauma come Yeah So if someone has open doors they're They're opening the door And saying it's a free for all Come on in They can't be surprised.
01:40:00
Speaker
And God is no respecter of persons. He shows grace to anyone he wants to. I believe the devil is no respecter of persons. He will steal, kill and destroy anyone he can, however he can.
01:40:14
Speaker
Yeah. So theoretically, I would say yes, because your spirit was dead and Holy Spirit has brought it to life. But the soul, the soul can still be severely wounded.
01:40:28
Speaker
Yeah. and The body might be severely wounded. And then if they're open doors there, theoretically, yes. Yeah. But I'm not going say it's common.
01:40:40
Speaker
He's too busy ruling the Empire of Darkness. But theoretically, yeah. you you You could have upper level demons getting in.
01:40:52
Speaker
Yeah. Thank you Thank you, Brendan. You're welcome. But I... but i Like Judas Iscariot, he wasn't a Christian, he wasn't saved, he wasn't always spirit-filled, whispered out and come yet.
01:41:06
Speaker
But he was one of the twelve. ah Disciples in Jesus. And that's the devil entered into him. So would I say Satan himself would enter a Christian?
01:41:19
Speaker
Theoretically possible. Probably not going happen. But can powerful demons get in? Of course they can. Yeah. yeah But the more rooted and grounded you are in the word, the less hold the enemy should have. And the easier that and demons should leave when they're cast out.
01:41:40
Speaker
and So long as you're not building strongholds to give them accommodation. Yeah. yeah okay yeah yeah Thank you. You're welcome.
01:41:53
Speaker
Alright guys, any more thoughts, comments or contributions on tonight?
01:41:58
Speaker
Yeah, I have a question. Go for it. I need to to listen to your YouTube clip later on. Sorry. for that But you said that Jericho, when he was about to enter the Promise Lab, he was to face a lot of different type of people that already was there. And they were horrible, like each one of them. And that is kind of life itself. and So...
01:42:33
Speaker
So it felt like, how what what did they do? How how could they survive? Like, yeah i know i know it's trusting God and really believing that God is great and and so on. Yeah, you actually explained that maybe later on. But please just share with me again, how can you it manage to survive all these years? took them years, Carolina. Sorry? Years.
01:43:00
Speaker
It took them years to conquer the promised land. Yeah. This was not all accomplished in a day. Defeating some enemies happened easier than others. um In some cases, you had tribes who maybe fought against the enemy and eventually said, oh you know what, let's just leave a few stragglers. Let's us just entertain them. Let's let them live here.
01:43:28
Speaker
Um, but it took years. It took sweat. It took durability. It took seeking God's face. It took prayer.
01:43:40
Speaker
It took intercession. It took when you had a bad day, brushing yourself off, crying a few tears, picking up your sword and being in the battlefield the next day.
01:43:52
Speaker
It took stamina. Um, took There's an advertisement on TV with them, Duracell batteries. And the mascot's a pink rabbit.
01:44:03
Speaker
And goes, you know, he just keeps going and going and going and going. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah. God's people need to be like the Duracell bunny rabbit. Keep going and going and going and going. Keep praying and praying and praying and praying. Keep fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting.
01:44:22
Speaker
Beating your soul into submission. I don't mean beating yourself up, you're stupid, you're crap, you're a waste of space, you're nothing. I mean the carnal flesh.
01:44:36
Speaker
Beating your addictions into nothingness until they're not part of you anymore. Saying, I really, really, really want to have a cigarette. I'm just dying for a cigarette.
01:44:49
Speaker
No. The word of God says your body's a temple of Holy Spirit. So your cigarettes have to go in the dustbin outside.
01:44:59
Speaker
Or I'm just in the mood, you know, for a tarot card reading. didn't know I was younger. And sure, no, nothing bad came to me that I was aware of. Should just have another one? Nope.
01:45:11
Speaker
The Bible says God despises witchcraft. It's an abomination. Set them on fire. Throw the ashes. don't know. In a forest somewhere.
01:45:23
Speaker
Don't let them into your house.
01:45:26
Speaker
If you have statues of gods or crucifixes rosary beads, praying to dead people is not going to fix your problems. In fact, will only open more problems.
01:45:44
Speaker
Bend them, cut them, burn them in your sitting room fire. It means whatever is in your soul that's aching for the old you, that's just itching for sin,
01:45:57
Speaker
You don't tolerate it. You stab on it. You stab it to the ground. You don't tolerate evil in your life. And then you have to control your old soul your own soul.
01:46:10
Speaker
And then you also then have you know your external enemies, your spiritual enemies. And you fight them with the word of God. That's what Jesus did when the devil came to tempt him.
01:46:21
Speaker
The devil said, oh, you can turn this bread into a stone because you're Jesus, you're a magician, you're magical, you're a genie. And Jesus responded scripture. Man does not live on bread alone, but in every word out God's mouth.
01:46:39
Speaker
And then the devil took him to a high place and said, one, fly, jump off, let your angels catch you. Everyone will be like, wow, it's Jesus. He's Superman. He's amazing. and He must be God. Woohoo.
01:46:55
Speaker
And Jesus was like, yeah, my destiny is not to take glory for myself. i' As per the devil's validation.
01:47:07
Speaker
I don't need demons to validate me. Thank you very much. So it's about responding with the word of God. Knowing who God is. knowing who you are to God, fighting with the word of God.
01:47:21
Speaker
But when it comes to your own heart, you have to get that into submission through daily discipline, hourly, minute by minute decisions.

And if you don't, your space, your zone, will only ever be small or smaller than it should have been. God said if you're faithful with very little, he knows you'll be faithful with much.
01:47:49
Speaker
If you cannot be trusted with very little, he cannot trust you with much. If he cannot trust you to look after your own heart, he cannot trust you with the hearts of others. Myself,
Significant Women in Biblical History and Jesus' Lineage
01:48:01
Speaker
um in January, i was, sorry Bible, never thought use you for this reason.
01:48:08
Speaker
I was probably out to there.
01:48:12
Speaker
As a man of God, I said, it's good for a servant of God to have some presence when he walks into a room. That was my excuse.
01:48:23
Speaker
that That was my excuse for being fat. At least people will see me. Maybe they'll look for a deliverance. Since I had to ask myself seriously.
01:48:35
Speaker
How many people will I be teaching the word of God to if I'm dead at 40 from diabetes type two and a tumor? Eh, nobody.
01:48:46
Speaker
but but So I had to say, i cannot be telling people to obey the word of God when I myself am living in flagrant, that's word, flagrant disobedience of it.
01:49:04
Speaker
I can't tell people that every word out of God's mouth is your life and is something you have to obey when if they looked at me,
01:49:15
Speaker
They were like, and you're not obeying it. Your cheeks brenging right to here. You got a double chin and your belly is about 15 kilograms bigger than it should be.
01:49:27
Speaker
Not okay. So I had to make a decision in my life to beat my heart into submission, to beat my bods into submission. had to teach my myself that N-O spells no.
01:49:39
Speaker
And if the word is no, I have to live by it. um And it's the same for all of us. You're not going to change many people's lives if God can't even entrust you with your own.
01:49:51
Speaker
So it's a great question, but how do you do it? You start with yourself. You start with the day to day. um Are you maximizing your time in the day?
01:50:04
Speaker
I'm up at half past five. I've prayed for just about everyone I know by eight o'clock. um You know, I'll do deliverances or soul healing sessions with people before midday, before 1pm.
01:50:19
Speaker
I'll carve out time to work in a book and writing, including the editing stages. um I'll return messages or phone calls, you know, for people. I'll do dream interpretations.
01:50:30
Speaker
Carve out some time for dinner because, you know, food is great. I'm not starving myself entirely. i still have one meal a day. And then i'll go for I'll go for walks, maybe one or two a day.
01:50:41
Speaker
Can't have our time just to de-stress, get into nature, enjoy nature, enjoy what God has made. um And then do a meeting like this or open house ministries or Joshua Generation, whatever it is.
01:50:56
Speaker
That for me is a typical day because if I don't discipline myself, um I can't expect to help others put discipline in their life.
01:51:08
Speaker
So what you do you You start with yourself and then God will expand your territory after that. Okay. Thank you very much. You're welcome.
01:51:21
Speaker
But I have done a teaching on that and when I went to the 14 Giants in a more detail so I will put that in the WhatsApp chat for those who are interested in learning more about them. Yeah.
01:51:33
Speaker
Yes, please. Great. great
01:51:39
Speaker
All right, guys. Any more questions, comments or observations?
01:51:54
Speaker
All right. I'm just checking Rahab. Yeah. Rahab. it's it's etc etc It's interesting why why they then they needed her.
01:52:07
Speaker
and And it's like a signpost to the Passover, isn't it? It's like God wanted a woman like her in his genealogy, maybe?
01:52:22
Speaker
Good question. You see, in Genesis 3, 15... three fifteen
01:52:31
Speaker
Jesus came walking in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day, in the Holy Spirit, Ruach, breath of the day, the prophetic unction of the day, and he prophesied that from the seed of the woman, someone would come who would crush the head of the serpent.
01:52:54
Speaker
Now, we're all adults here, so I don't think I have to explain the birds and the bees. Thanks, Jamie. Good night. Sleep well now. And that women don't have sperm. So he's talking about a pregnant virgin.
01:53:07
Speaker
So all throughout the Old Testament, you will see glimpses of women who weren't married, but they had...
01:53:19
Speaker
almost like a Mary type call on their life. Women that God was going to do something really amazing in and through. So for instance, you have the likes of Esther, a woman who ultimately defended her nation in the Persia and Medea's empire. a There's one war where you have Jael who picks up a tent peg and rams it into the skull, the serpent's head, the head of Sisera, the evil enemy commander.
01:53:58
Speaker
You got another woman in the days of Gideon, i think it was. i think we'll be looking at this woman next week, maybe. and So, spoiler alert, who got a big stone and dropped it on top of the head of the enemy.
01:54:16
Speaker
Um, you've got the wise woman, and Joab, King David's army commander. Wherever he went, destruction followed and people just died. That was what he did.
01:54:33
Speaker
And his he came as far as a city wall.
01:54:38
Speaker
And said, let us in. I'm here on the king's business. And she's just called the wise woman. She says... Wherever you go, people die.
01:54:50
Speaker
Wherever you go, there is drama and there is chaos. We will not let you in here. Not happening. Why have you come? And Joab is probably feeling very embarrassed in front of his men that a woman is telling him off.
01:55:07
Speaker
He says, there's a man in there who but who who betrayed the king. And she just says, his head will be thrown to you from over the wall. She disappears, chops this man's head off and throws it over the wall to Joab.
01:55:24
Speaker
so And then Joab and his men go home for tea. So you have all these stories in the Old Testament of amazing women who either in Rahab's case, yes, you have the the picture of the bloods.
01:55:40
Speaker
Or in the other instances, they were part of the picture of cutting heads off or putting 10 pegs in heads. But they're all foreshadows of Mary. Because ultimately, Jesus would come through her and he was crucified on Golgotha, on the mount of the skull when he crushed the enemy's head.
01:56:05
Speaker
So yeah, it's a good question. They're all foreshadows. of Mary and ultimately a foreshadow of the power of Jesus. Amen. Thanks that Luciano.
01:56:18
Speaker
You have a good night and I sleep well.
01:56:22
Speaker
and So ah yeah, good question. And then plus it makes Jesus' genealogy unique by ancient world standards in that you have multiple women in his as well.
01:56:36
Speaker
It's exceptionally rare But it makes his very, very special.
01:56:44
Speaker
isn't his His genealogy is traced through true Mary. it's not true That's in the book of Luke. In the book of Matthew, it's Joseph's genealogy.
01:56:58
Speaker
In the book of Luke, Mary isn't mentioned. But it is Mary's genealogy. Hers goes from Adam all the way to Halle, her father.
01:57:12
Speaker
And then it includes Joseph as because Halle, he Mary didn't have any brothers, just had sisters. So it goes from her father to his son in law, which is Joseph.
01:57:26
Speaker
So Mary's genealogy is in Luke.
01:57:31
Speaker
So Joseph and her can be traced back to David. Yes, exactly. So Joseph was the rightful king of Israel. Mary is in Luke chapter 3.
01:57:44
Speaker
and So Joseph was the rightful king of Israel, not Herod the Great. And Mary was the rightful queen of Israel.
01:57:56
Speaker
m Not one of Herod's several wives. they... they They were the authentic rulers of Israel, but obviously they didn't want Herod knowing who or where they were, so they were hiding in the back end of nowhere in Galilee.
01:58:18
Speaker
I live in Ardi, obviously, a very small town in the smallest county in Ireland, and they were living in the Ardi of ancient Israel.
01:58:31
Speaker
ah Yeah, you're hidden

to help you fortify those in your world through your prayer life. And um to show you that as the walls of Jericho came down for God's people all the way back then, and the walls of Jericho in your life can and will fall so you can enter your promised land. It's not easy.
01:59:53
Speaker
It takes time. it takes sweat. It takes the tearing down of strongholds. but it is absolutely worth it. And God is absolutely good.
02:00:05
Speaker
Have a beautiful night, everyone. And I'll catch those of you in the Joshua generation on Sunday. I'll catch the rest of you this day next week for Jesus in the Old Testament, episode nine.
