Absalom's Demise and David's Grief

David's Lingering Challenges and Hollow Victory

Joab's Criticism and David's Leadership

So David comes from Judah, which is a tribe in Israel. When it says Israel, or an Israelite, it's referring to the other ten tribes.

How badly Absalom had treated David. Mephibosheth was depressed by the fact that David was in exile. Mephibosheth was depressed for the fact that David genuinely might never be seen again.

This tells us that Ziba, the steward, is a liar. Why would he lie? Because Ziba and his sons had been the stewards of all of Saul's property.

You know, you've heard people say, well, you came from nowhere. This guy literally comes from nowhere. more And next thing, he's the master of all souls property, and is sitting David's palace, eating like a prince of the realm.

And to actually get all of Saul's property for himself and his sons. I believe that's why it always says Ziba and his 20 sons. Ziba and all the songs you all sons. and all the sons. Because this guy had inheritance on his mind. He had will those his money had power on his mind.

I thought when he said they were stewarding of Saul's inheritance at the top, it was Saul's So it was Ziba's sons. Ziba's sons, not Saul's. Yeah, because Saul had a son, Jonathan. Jonathan had a son, Mephibosheth.

i think David was far too generous, saying, you know, I'll just split it 50-50. And I wonder if that's because maybe he didn't know which one to believe. And maybe he thought, well, technically Ziba did come with me, so he isn't told to reward.

Maybe he just wanted to expose the heart attitude of both men. When I read this, what I actually thought of, David had many sons. His most famous son is Solomon.

One of the most famous stories of Solomon is two women come before the king. Do you want to Oh, it the that two women come before the king and they are both screaming that they are the mother of this child. Yeah, sure, yeah, yeah. One will say, this is my child. The other says, no, I'm the mother of the child. And so the king says, well, fine, in order to give you the equal of the child, let's just kill kill the child and split the child in half so each of you have an equal share. Yeah. And then one of the mothers scream, no, no, never mind, I'm not the mom, she's the real mom. So then that she that the baby will not be killed. All the way around, all the way around. Yeah, you're so, that you're 99% right. One of them screams, you know what, just to let her have the child.
