Hey, what's going on? Hey, what's going on, buddy?

Thanksgiving Experiences

00:01:29
Speaker
Doing good. How was your Thanksgiving? Great. Fantastic yours. No, it was just a regular Thursday for me this year, to be honest with you, but... You didn't cook anything? You didn't cook anything? No, I didn't cook anything this year. I don't wait a couple weeks. What'd you eat? Leftover chicken alfredo. Our oven shit the bed last weekend and the landlord couldn't get to it. Oh, yes. That's right. We are stuck without an oven, just a stovetop, and I didn't really feel like trying to tackle a turkey dinner on the stovetop.
00:01:57
Speaker
um I got ah some nasty snow as you as I told you. I saw i saw that. Not ideal. no yes No, I don't like this time of year at all. I'm i'm ready to pack it all in and leave.

TV Shows and Speculations

00:02:09
Speaker
um Not a lot to talk about this week because holidays kind of shut it down, the news cycle after middle of the week, but we do have a few things. We're going to get off the notes so next week we can start fresh.
00:02:22
Speaker
Next week we got a jam-packed show starting with a couple of new shows that debuting this weekend next week um But what we watched we did watch so I watched shrinking you haven't seen the new episode yet. I will say I Will say there is a flashback that is pretty awesome in the beginning of the episode um origin of everything um You have caught up on Superman in Lois now. I know yeah I know that we got one episode left on Monday, um and from what I've seen, we're going to be seeing Doomsday fighting Superman. That's all I know because I haven't watched the show. I know you're big, big deal. They, uh, I'll give this, we didn't want you to eventually watch this show. So, um,
00:03:05
Speaker
But yes, Doomsday came back at the end of the last episode, and now he has fully formed Doomsday. Because as you know, like he has different like iterations of him, yep. And so now he is fully formed. And it basically ended the same way season three ended, where Superman and him just went up into the sky, and then they both threw a punch at each other, and then it went cut to black. um Of course, now, as you saw, because I send you to the the teaser for next week,
00:03:34
Speaker
um for the finale um it went by so fast i believe is the name of the episode which is a thing in the clerk uh kent's household um it's like on the it's on the wall and um they all got i guess matching jet twos after the they wrap the season It all set, it all went by so fast. That was kind of like the motto of the show, I guess. And it was fast, it was a quick, I think it was like four seasons in just under four years. But yeah, this, I think somebody is gonna show up, but I have no idea who. The Joker around the internet is on Arrow, they set up Green Lantern with Dingle.
00:04:18
Speaker
who is the guy from his dad's boyfriend, and season two of Dexter. The guy that got light cut up. um And they teased that in Arrow and just never went through with it. And I have no idea why they never went through with it.
00:04:33
Speaker
but like in one episode to end the season he opens up he finds a box he opens up it's like glowing like green so everyone's like oh he's gonna be a lantern blah blah blah so like a lot of people just joking that he's gonna show up as an actual lantern this week i don't think that's true um right because of course he says you can't do this on your own so honestly i would not be surprised if it's a fake out it's just gonna be the two sons helping him and they're not as strong as him because they're a house half Kryptonian and half non-Kryptonian or if outside possibility of that Supergirl Melissa Benoist Supergirl shows up because Tyler's first appearance on The CW was in her show. So that's like the rumors right now. um
00:05:16
Speaker
but I have

TV Watching Challenges

00:05:17
Speaker
no idea what's gonna happen. I have no idea how they're gonna close this out in an hour Especially when they take so many commercial breaks as they have this entire season It seems like every time you're like getting into it. They take a fucking commercial break network TV that's that work Yeah, yeah, but I mean when you watch it on max, it's obviously it's gonna be different. Um, yeah But yeah, uh looking forward to it. I can't wait to see how it wraps up.
00:05:39
Speaker
The only thing I remember about Doomsday in the comic book is every time Superman would hit him, those spikes would show up on his... I I don't know if that's the same as the show we're doing. Yes, they did in BBS. Same thing happened in BBS. Same thing happened in the cartoon. And in this show, it's Bizarro is actually Doomsday. Lex creates him by basically just torturing him, killing him, and then bringing him back to life, torturing him, killing him, bringing him back to life.
00:06:06
Speaker
So that's how we get Doomsday in this universe. We're just kind of cool with a different take on it. The comic book origin of Doomsday was very strange too. He was like buried underground on the Earth. It was a weird origin. Really didn't have an origin. It was just there. And then he shows up one day and starts attacking Superman. Yep.
00:06:25
Speaker
shows dominance. But cool. So yeah, one more episode. We'll talk about that next week. I'm doing prophecy. I did watch the first two episodes. The only note I have is what kind of pedophile propaganda is this? um Other than that, the show kind of bored me. I was bored by this second episode getting into it. And I couldn't really get in towards the end. um Second episode was great. I enjoyed the first one a lot more.
00:06:50
Speaker
Um, sets up a lot of is setting up a lot. I think there's only six episodes. I read, um, yeah setting up a lot of, uh, stuff doing prophecy. I'm guessing is going to be the prophecy of, of what's going to happen later on. 10,000 years. Is that, is that pretty much what we're gathering from what the title of the show is? Um, I think it's, I think so. I think it's going to be when they come up and they create like the chosen one type prophecy. Um, okay. So yeah.
00:07:17
Speaker
Yeah, it's it's okay. I don't know if I'm going to continue watching it or not. I'll ah let you probably rate it for the next couple of episodes if you say it yeah turns around. I do like that one mysterious character that kind of... Yeah, he's the only one I want to watch. He's the only one that's actually been able to control the women. Like when they're trying to control people, he's the only one that actually can stop them, which is really cool. um

Movie Reviews and Performances

00:07:40
Speaker
So we watched a few movies. Sorry, I watched a few movies this week. I know some of these you've already seen, but that's why I watched them so we could talk about them.
00:07:46
Speaker
One we both have never seen, and it's our final basketball movie this month, is the way back. And I gotta tell you, not only is it the best best basketball movie we've seen this month, it's my favorite sports movie I think I've ever seen.
00:07:59
Speaker
um And I think you you add, like last year I said that Rudy was probably my favorite. I think this bypasses that by a lot. um Ben Affleck's performance, number one, same face. yeah He does has no facial expressions. There's a couple of scenes where he finally smiles at the end because he's happy, but no facial expressions since 2002. Hello, Peter.
00:08:23
Speaker
can
00:08:28
Speaker
debut of Peter. Um, but yeah, the Wayback great movie starring Ben Affleck came out, uh, right during the pandemic in 2020. Um, and there's a cameo from the dad from the wonder years. Uh, Shiva from the league places ex wife. Um, and the Dickhead Glen from the wedding singer plays a a rival ah basketball coach that plays against him a couple of times. Um, overall great movie, four and a half out of five for me. And, um,
00:08:56
Speaker
Yeah, i'm glad I'm glad that you chose this one. and I know there's the Adam Sandler hall yeah movie. That was that was high up there, which I saw. I already talked about that last year, whenever two years ago. um Yeah, this where was really good. ah Ben Affleck ripping the shower beers. Yep. I suggest if you do that, you do that after a long day of work, not at 6 AM before you go work construction. um That would be my suggestion if you're ever going to rip some shower beers. Also, another pro tip, keep a beer in the freezer, then you just rotate out with one of the fridges to keep them cool. He had all the alcoholic tricks in this movie. that They just kept pulling in and pulling in. Yep. I was like, Jesus. Like, this is like something like we didn't like college, like, you know.
00:09:38
Speaker
um but yeah uh excellent movie yeah downfall of a character down downfellow of the character through alcoholism basically um i was seeing a lot of reviews when this movie came out talking about the parallels between Ben Affleck's life at the time maybe even now because i've seen some interviews lately with him where he's a little topsy turvy with alcohol maybe but or whatever he's on. Parallels between the character and the movie and him were the basis of why he took the role. Yeah, I think he did this because of that as healing factors, I think. Yeah, but it's a great story of a comeback for this team, this down and out team. I'm not sure. I think they're in California, is what I'm guessing. But overall, great casting all throughout. So really good movie. You watched a new movie that I have on my list of to watch, Speak No Evil. This stars James McAvoy.
00:10:29
Speaker
Came out this past summer. What'd you think of it? from the trialer looks amazinging You probably would have watched it too if I had told you before I would have yeah watched last night It was um it was just I had nothing to watch after um Thanksgiving because I'm gonna watch Thanksgiving, but we're doing that with my movie club this weekend ah um So I watched Guardians of the Galaxy um Holiday special which is also a tradition now and then I was like I gotta to knock off something from my to do the list for this year. And so I chose to Speak No Evil. Just go to the Plex and I was like, oh, that's perfect. I'll watch that.
00:11:03
Speaker
um yeah everyone of course has seen the previews because apparently they're everywhere i don't know if i saw the previews like twice in theaters and i watched a lot of myself on my computer so like i have nag walker so i never saw youtube apparently i played like every time there's a commercial on the youtube video people watched um because that was a big joke going around is that i really haven't seen this movie advertised but it was really all over the place and all over tv too but i really don't watch cable so right um didn't really know what to expect macavoy is incredible in it the movie itself ah kind of slow it first and then when you find out the twist you're like i don't know if this is a good twist or a bad twist. But the twist was pretty, I didn't see it coming personally. um I wasn't really looking for a twist. I just thought he was just a weird dude. and i Yeah, I wouldn't expect it either um from the trailer. So yeah, there is a little twist that I wasn't really expecting. um And even if you know the twist, I want to know, even when you do watch this, um now that you know there's a twist, if you saw what happens coming. It's very interesting.
00:12:12
Speaker
ah But yeah, he, yeah James back and forth is awesome. The dude who lost his legs in Batman vs Superman is really good as the other husband. That's right. The watch, they're both really good. like Acting watch is great. just I don't know if it's going to hit people. I feel like it's going to be the movie that's either going to be like a two and a half or four, like for you depending on who you are. like It okay you could go either way. um I got texted my sister because I think she would really like this movie to watch it. But overall, I did enjoy it. I probably put it at like a three, three and a half. like i i did enjoy it but like i said when you watch it you could either hate it or love it so um but yeah i enjoyed it
00:12:50
Speaker
Nice. I watched a few movies this week too, with being Thanksgiving. I had off yesterday, so... um Some of these I know you've seen. One of them I've never seen before. i You've probably seen every single one of these. um First one we're gonna talk about is Three Musketeers. This came out in 1992, or at least 1992-93, I think. um Charlie Sheen, Keith Sutherland, Chris O'Donnell, one of his first roles right before he got the big role in Batman.
00:13:15
Speaker
as Robin Oliver Platt who was in a bunch of 90s stuff like Platt did this ah Tim Curry playing the medicine villain um and the bad guy from the crow Michael Wilkopk Wynkopk we've been talking a lot about it's like the year of Michael Wynkopk talking a lot about him this year he was in the crow he's in the next movie we're gonna talk about too um But yeah, this movie was... for I remember seeing it but way, way back when we were kids. and This is one of those Disney... Yeah, this is one of those Disney movies that was either on on VHS, rented from the video store, or somewhere. I've seen it, but... um Then I got into it. the The soundtrack was really good. Done by Michael Kamen, who has done a bunch of movies. He's done Highlander. I i knew him from Lethal Weapon. Diehards. All the diehards.
00:14:03
Speaker
Um, the X-Men, the first X-Men movie frequency, which is a great movie, but I knew him mostly from Metallica's S and M album and how he was the conductor of that whole entire orchestra with Metallica. Um, and the big song from that is all, all for one, one for love the Brian Adams.
00:14:21
Speaker
ah Staying in rock stores song that's the big that was a big thing back then um So I got into that and I started getting into a Michael came in rabbit hole kind of so I watched Robin Hood men in tights Which is a movie I've been wanting to watch before we go on to that. Oh, yes, the three musketeers movie that came out was two years ago Yes, um but that was allegedly the greatest three musketeers movie of all time, right? It's like three and a half hours long and it's in French I've been trying to get like a ah ah dubbed version like I got the subtitle version but like i can't read subtitles for three hours um go fucking insane and i just want to point that out that i do i am looking for a copy of that um
00:15:00
Speaker
Yeah, there's one that came out like 10 or 15 years ago too, with a kid who was in yeah the the Lightning Thief, the Percy Jackson movie. But yeah, I heard about that one though, you're right. But apparently it's like right close to the book, but yeah, go on with your next movie. because this is Yeah, yeah, because another great movie came out in 1991, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
00:15:21
Speaker
Um, this stars Kevin Costner, um, Morgan Freeman, as I don't remember this character from the Robin Hood tale, but, um, he played kinda like a, um, a Muslim character, um, Alan Rickman.
00:15:36
Speaker
as the Sheriff of Nottingham. At the time when we were kids, didn't know who right Alan Rickman was before Dog when this was for Harry Potter. Um, menacing. But funny and weird how he acted in the movie too. Um, and his henchmen played by Michael Wincott. Again, the year of Michael Wincott. Christians later in this, a quick cameo uncredited at the end as King Richard, the Lionheart, Sean Connery. Um,
00:16:05
Speaker
Score done by Michael Cayman as well. The big song for this one was everything I do. I do it for you with brought by Brian Adams. Yeah. Um, swashbuckling mixed with a little rapiness at the very end of this movie. Um, the sheriff of nodding here played by Alan Rickman tries to rape made Mary and Marion, whatever it is, whatever it is. Um, the one thing I remember about this, I watched the movie way back in the day. Another one of those VHS rentals, probably.
00:16:35
Speaker
The Kenner action figures, which I actually had a few of these. um I remember the commercials everywhere. At the time, I had no idea that they were a

Nostalgia and First-Time Reviews

00:16:43
Speaker
return. They were a return of the Jedi recycled figures. And I learned that later on. But the picture that I have here is, as you can see, the Friar Tuck is a ripoff of the Gamorian Guard and the tree fortress from the Ewoks is the exact tree fortress from this movie as well.
00:17:01
Speaker
um They did that a lot back in the day. Toys That Made Us I think this is the first time I heard about this. Maybe before that too. but um yeah um Decent movie, but my favorite of these three was The Bodyguard. This is the movie I've never seen before. I didn't watch it when I was a kid. This came out in 1992. Again, starring Kevin Costner and a debut for Whitney Houston. um He actually fought to get her to be in this role. Kevin Costner's been talking a lot about the Horizon movies. He was on Howard Stern the beginning of this year.
00:17:31
Speaker
He was talking about this. He actually did the um the eulogy for Whitney Houston when she dies. he He talked about that a little bit and what it took to get her to play this part. Because at the time she was the biggest pop star. She did a whole bunch of 80's dance hits. She didn't really have too many slow songs. And then she took the the cover of I Will Always Love You by Dolly Parton and just blew it out of the water and did her own thing within just, it became number one for 14 weeks straight. um Thriller, romance, I did not expect it to be as much of a thriller and romance as it was. um Stellar soundtrack throughout. um If this was remade today, I could see high tech being brought into it, because you're talking about security. um And a lot of the security nowadays, at least in the last 10 years, has all been done through
00:18:19
Speaker
through the cloud and through high-tech cameras and this and that would be a totally different movie if it was done but for an acting debut Whitney Houston did a fantastic job she blew it out the park and I was very happy that I watched this movie this week so that's it for the throwback movies this today um the beetle 64 documentary came out on Disney Plus um Disney Plus, the last three years, they've been doing these disney these Disney-exclusive Beatles documentaries.

Documentary and Unique Films

00:18:48
Speaker
We talked about Get Back, when we first started the podcast, the right when Disney Plus started, the Get Back documentary came out, which was a seven-hour fucking documentary, but it was great. Everybody loved it. And I think they're still trying to to to get to that well. They're trying to get as much Beatles footage as they can, but at the time, there wasn't a lot of Beatles footage behind the scenes.
00:19:08
Speaker
So they're kind of just scooping up what whatever they can at this point. This documentary was okay. Did not hit the level of the Get Back documentary. um But it was good. It showed the Beatles in 1964 coming to America. This was produced by Martin Scorsese. um And there's a look at Beatlemania, their first visit to the United States. They were there for three weeks in February of 1964. And during that time, um they debuted on the Ed the ed Sullivan show, which the popular Everybody knows that that that's where they debuted in America. I had 70 million viewers that night. um and That's where they also had their stadium tour. um They went to Washington DC, Miami, I think. I don't know if they did it this time, but I know Shea Stadium was the big one too. um But the documentary showed arch kind archive footage from NEST trip, um filmed with their personal film crew that they had at the time, remastered in 4K so it looked great.
00:19:58
Speaker
broadcast clips from past TV interviews with the band, fan footage and interviews then and now of different fellow musician celebrities like Little Richard was in this, Ronnie Spector and Smokey Robinson did new interviews for this. Brand new interviews mixed in with ro with ah Paul and Ringo as well.
00:20:18
Speaker
Overall, decent documentary, but it just did not live up to what they'd done prior with Get Back. There's not really much more that they can tackle because they didn't film too much. Once theme the made in, the fandom took over, they went silent for a while. They stopped touring because you would go to a Beatle show and you couldn't hear the band because the females were just screaming. The girls were screaming so loud it would outdo any any sound that they were going to play on stage.
00:20:44
Speaker
So they stopped touring completely in 1966, so 1965 was the last time they went on tour. But yeah, it's on Disney Plus if you wanna watch it, it's decent. Produced by your Martin Scorsese, so he kind of you kind he he did show up in there a couple times talking to Paul. They were opening up to some museum in New York, they were talking about that. um Another movie, the final thing I'm gonna talk about this week, I don't think you probably caught this, but no Dear Santa.
00:21:10
Speaker
Well, you're right, it is stupid. It's very stupid. It's a stupid-ass movie. But it's Fairly Brothers, so it has some heart, some funny parts in their kind of Fairly Brothers fashion. um Jack Black, and pretty much what you saw in the trailer is Jack Black is Satan.
00:21:28
Speaker
Kind of. And his interpretation of Satan kind of saves the movie as Jack Black. what you You know what you're going to get from this movie with Jack Black and you're pretty much dead straight on of what you're going to get with him.
00:21:43
Speaker
Um, he was probably the saving grace of it, to be honest with you. Um, has some cameos from Post Malone. Um, you find out later in the movie, I'm gonna spoil it because I don't give a fuck. Ben Stiller is the real devil. And Jack Black is just a demon, lower rung demon sent that he just goes up there trying to him to impress the devil. And that's basically what the big twist of the movie, if you want to call it a twist, but. Uh, two and a half out of five for me. I will not watch this again. Um,
00:22:11
Speaker
jack black is Jack Black is Jack Black. That's basically all I'm going to say about it. You know what his comedy is going to be like. You pretty much can guess what this movie is going to be like. um The little kid wasn't bad. There's a little kid that writes to Santa. And he has his dyslexic, so he he writes Satan on the envelope.
00:22:29
Speaker
Not bad. His little friend is not bad either. um The story is just not that good, to be honest. If you're if you have kids, um maybe if you want them to be worshipping the devil, sure, let them watch it for this Christmas. But but yeah, it's not bad. It's it's on it's it's free. If you have Paramount Plus, it's on in there. so um With that being said, let's get into the news.
00:22:59
Speaker
Uh, no trailers this week. Well, maybe there is. Oh yeah, one trailer. This is one trailer for the trailer roundup. I do want to talk about this because I saw it this week and I got your reaction from it. It's actually two trailers, but we'll talk about this one first. Um, so all these horror remakes, we started with poo blood and honey, and we've got the poo-niverse happening. And we got, of course, Mickey Mouse happening, Steamboat Willie now in in public domain.
00:23:28
Speaker
Another character that's been in public domain for a little while now, and they're doing their horror remake of it, is called Popeye. The Slayer Man. This comes out sometime next year, I sent you the trailer for it. To be honest, I actually liked, like, for what it is, for what this is, out of all the weird spin-off cartoons from the 1930s that they could do, this actually looked pretty good. It's put by the Sailor Man living on the shore somewhere, and these kids go into this old abandoned dwarf wharf somewhere.
00:24:04
Speaker
And Popeye is there doing a murder rampage because they're they're in his space. Oh, it's a spinach factory, that's what it was. Even worse. They're in a spinach factory, in an old canning factory somewhere. And he goes on a murderous rampage and kills all these kids that are there trying to find this old, mysterious Popeye the Sailor Slayer man.
00:24:25
Speaker
um trailer looks very weird reminds me a lot of those Poonaverse movies like I said not and not not related to any of those but some sort of a horror remake coming out if you haven't seen the trailer look it up on YouTube it's on there very bloody um as you can see in the picture puffy uses his spinach he eats it and he ends up crushing people's heads and and so and hacking people, so you're if you're into that, go ahead. ah Speaking of hacking, coming out in just a few weeks, we got a new trailer for Dexter. Dexter original Sam, and it's a new poster for it too. Coming out just December 13th, I think it's a Monday, I don't know, it's a Friday.
00:25:03
Speaker
um yeah a Couple weeks from today. um Very excited. The trailer looks really good. um And we finally found out like what the connection is. It's is's connected to prior the prior show, New Blood. um Pretty much the beginning of the trailer shows Dexter um being brought to a hospital after after being in the woods at the end of after at the end of New Blood. We talked about it a few months ago. Looks like he's in a morgue.
00:25:27
Speaker
It looks like he's in a morgue, maybe in a coma, and he's kind of reliving all of his life, and in this looks like a flashback that he's reliving as he's maybe dying, maybe on the table, who knows. You and I kind of speculated off-pod what's gonna happen, maybe.
00:25:42
Speaker
Is maybe he survives this and then then the whole resurrection we know there's gonna he's coming back for resurrection was a brand new series Um, and you and I both want to see the reaction of the miami metro that he's abandoned And see what they're gonna say now that dextre is known as the murderer that he is Um, we saw we already kind of saw batista's reaction. We think both think that batista will be a part in this whether it's like like a quick And it's done at the end teasing resurrection, um but we want to see Quinn we want to see mazooka um we Well, we're not gonna see a sister She's dead, but we may see his dad come back as an inner monologue and maybe even his sister come back as an inner monologue That'd be interesting um Could be a lot could it could be it could be a lot built into this show up to wait and see but very excited he Got a couple weeks till that

Box Office and Cancellations

00:26:31
Speaker
airs. It's gonna be on Paramount Plus
00:26:32
Speaker
Um, yeah let's get into the show last weekend wicked did big numbers in the box office 114 million dollars. I'm glad eight or two did a 55 not too shabby um and red one movie doing horrible for 13 million um Wicked I've listened to the soundtrack all week. I love it I'm even as high on it as I was last week. I know a lot of people are complaining about the the quality of the The shots say they're a little bit too dark. I didn't think so. i Like I mentioned last week, I thought it was very colorful. um And at at times I did feel, especially in the very last shot of the movie, I felt like you were being drawn into a painting, um the scene where where Alpha Bug
00:27:18
Speaker
that Pretty much gains her power it starts flying which everybody knows But yeah, it's it's it's doing huge numbers the soundtracks doing huge It would have been number one if Kendrick didn't release his album this week, but his surprise album But great great movie if you haven't seen it good weekend to go to the box office go to the movies There's a lot of a lot of movies Milana to just open today gonna do gangbusters But if you haven't if you haven't seen Wicked or gladiator 2 for that matter, which is a good other good ah Go to the movies and see those are very good theater flicks for sure um
00:27:51
Speaker
Speaking of Wicked, um according to page 6, Lady Gaga was almost in talks to play Elphaba in the movie. She was going to be the Wicked Witch of the West. um this movie has been in Please tell me she chose Joker 2. Please tell me that was the reason why, because that would just make me laugh. Probably, yeah, because Joker 2 would have been a few years after, no. This is this around the middle... This one filmed a while ago. yeah Yeah, this is like middle 20 teens, this this news came out. But yeah, I couldn't see anybody else playing her besides Cynthia now.
00:28:24
Speaker
um i was I actually listened to the old soundtrack from 2003 from the Broadway show and I listened to the new one. And Cynthia does so much better than Adina Menzel. I couldn't believe like how great she went. I mean, I knew from the movie, but she blew her out of the water. But if you haven't seen it, go ahead and watch it. Abby Elementary, season four. Don't talk all it about it because you don't watch it, but um season four premiered back a couple months ago.
00:28:49
Speaker
um And the first night it was out, it did 2.1 million viewers that night. um And I guess it was 35 days later, ended up accumulating 9 million total viewers in the first 35 days, which is pretty good for streaming. And pretty good for a show. It is a funny show. I watched the first season. It's pretty damn funny. It reminds me a lot of The Office.
00:29:13
Speaker
And of course they're going to be doing a a team up with, it's always Sunny Crew 2, they're going to do a team up episode. We're going back and forth between the episodes, so that'd be kind of cool. um So if you haven't watched that, it's it's a quick 20 minute show. I believe it's on Hulu. um Rest in peace to Chuck Woolery. From our childhood, big part of the game show era. um he did he was He was on the Wheel of Fortune before Pat Sajak. But the big thing he was in was Love Connection and Scrabble. That was like the late 80s, early 90s. And he was now doing right wing podcasting. So he took a whole turn to everything. And from everything I hear behind the scenes, he was the biggest dick in Hollywood too.
00:29:57
Speaker
so I remember him. I remember him. Everybody used to watch the the game shows back in the day, so I remember him. Love Connection, I think, he was the one I used to watch all the time. So, rest in peace, Chuck Woolery.
00:30:09
Speaker
um
00:30:12
Speaker
After, we talked about the Wolves, or I talked about it a few months ago, the movie with ah George Clooney and ben Brad Pitt. And how there was going to be a sequel. Well, the movie has been cancelled. Apple TV cancelled that movie. um I think there was a falling out with the director. and Director had a problem with Apple and in the and the way the movie was released. I guess it was it was it was just streaming and they wanted to be a part of a theatrical run too. um So they had some sort of a falling out. I think that was the the key part of it. but
00:30:46
Speaker
Yeah, the movie's not moving forward. I don't know if it'll be picked up anywhere else, or if it was an Apple exclusive that they can't touch again, but it was a decent movie. I don't know. Did you under need to ever end up catching it after we talked about it on the pod? No, I might watch it tonight. I'm still trying to catch up on everything I missed this year, so that's what I want to watch. It's not a bad movie. and It kind of does set up. There could be a sequel to it.
00:31:05
Speaker
um But yeah, it's it's not bad. It may not see a sequel. But but yeah yeah, it's pretty good. It's on Apple TV. i' Got a new picture from Tron Aries. ah not You don't know much more about this other than a set it's set in current time and they're going to be bringing AI into it. And I still have to watch the the second Tron movie before this one even comes out. So we'll talk about that later on.
00:31:28
Speaker
um Announced this week, Ryan Reynolds and his production company are going to be producing a feature app but adaptation of Mighty Mouse. um Mighty Mouse has never, I can't believe it's never been done. It was so popular back in the day, I remember. Yeah, that was mighty myself that was huge for us. Yep, I remember Mighty Mouse being big, but Ryan Reynolds is going to take the reins of that and do another Do another adaptation, do some sort of an adaptation. So that'd be cool. um Sterling K. Brown is going to star in the live-action Voltron film um with Henry Cavill, who was previously announced before. This is going to be on Amazon Plus. um I guess they're going into production fairly soon because like they keep ah rounding out the cast. But Sterling K. Brown, great actor. He was in Black Panther. You see him in a few other things as well.
00:32:17
Speaker
um Speaking of casting, Charlie Theron has joined the cast of the upcoming Christopher Nolan film. Another film, like a Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson,
00:32:29
Speaker
Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya, and now Charlize. This movie is looking... It's like that for you ah for Oppenheimer too. Every week there was a new cast member that was an A star. Yeah, but yeah a a a A plus stars. yeah so Yeah, very excited. Very excited. I love Nolan. I don't even care what the movie is. I just know it's going to be good. yeah I think that's everybody's assessment.
00:32:52
Speaker
um Announced yesterday by Ringo Starr of all, um Barry Coogan has been cast as Ringo Starr in the Sam Mendes Biopic, a Beatles biopic, Avengers type universe. And the rumors of the rest of the cast have me very excited. ah This rumor came out last week and I didn't talk about it. But Barry Coogan was part of this rumor and he was announced this week, so I'm guessing these could be true.
00:33:18
Speaker
Especially after we saw gladiator 2 last week Paul Miskal could be playing Paul McCartney I'm very excited. I'm very excited to see where his career goes after seeing gladiator 2. I thought he did a fantastic job playing playing Lucius. I think his name was Um hair Harris Dickinson. I don't know the name. He looks so familiar he's in um, uh iron claw he plays the uh david Yes, okay, that's where I've seen him using he may be playing John Lennon in Hollywood ah Hollywood heart heart heart throb
00:33:54
Speaker
Joseph Quinn, who is in every single fan casting, could be playing George Harrison, my favorite Beatle. I saw. it i I saw these castings back in like July, like the same four. I didn't say I don't. I remember the Palm Scholar, but he also wasn't a name on my list. Yeah. But I do remember because I talked to a kid at work as a huge Beatles fan about Barry Keegan being Ringo Starr back in like July or early August. So yeah, I think this casting is fantastic when it comes out to be true.
00:34:21
Speaker
Yeah, we'll see. I'm i'm sure if the Ringo news came out this week, I'm sure by the end of next week, maybe the week after, we'll get the rest of this. ah Yeah. Sam Mendes. And the thing about this biopic is going to be four movies all parallel with each other, but they're all going to focus on one of the characters in the Beatles. um So they're all by the end probably going to do one big conglomerate thing of all four characters at the end of each movie. um So we'll see how it plays out. Like I said, it's the Avengers of the Beatles. We never thought we'd see something like that. but Yeah, very interesting.

Merchandise and Fan Creations

00:34:53
Speaker
Um, speaking of movies coming out, we got Sonic 3, which another movie that I'm not into that lexicon. I loved Sonic when I was a kid. I played it on, I didn't have too many games on the Sega Genesis, but I did have Sonic. Um, but then you got some ah character posters coming out. Andres Elba plays, uh, Knuckles. Um, and, uh, yeah, it has a decent cast, I guess. Jim Carrey is a big part of it too, Dr. Robotnik. So.
00:35:19
Speaker
um And of course it cannot be a new movie out without new popcorn buckets, and we got new sonic merch coming out for regal cinema's We got a new popcorn bucket shaped like it's had, we got new cups, we got new toys, stuffies. Like I said, like we mentioned last week, when we went and saw Wicked and Glider 2, the merch table for this shit was ridiculous. I mean, there was it was aisles of merch ready to go for people that were gonna go see these movies, but um they have to make money money somewhere and nobody's going to the movies anymore, so um yeah. um Speaking of popcorn buckets, also announced last week,
00:35:53
Speaker
The Nosferatu popcorn bucket. I actually saw some pictures of this today. I wanna get this. Yeah, this is actually fairly detailed. I saw pictures of it today and that was just just randomly posted online. Sarcophagus looks amazing.
00:36:07
Speaker
Um, looks like a great, like just having it on your shelf type of thing. But, uh, yeah, I'm excited for that movie. Everybody's saying, I know new i haven't seen it I haven't seen it yet, but the first clip was released yesterday, but everybody's saying it's good. So, um, I think the review embargo talking about their views next week, I think it's on the second. Um, so let's talk about some swag.
00:36:28
Speaker
swag stuff we all get come on son you know that's right We're talking about these Mondo figures, and they released the pictures of the Black Symbiote Spider-Man on Mondo's website this week. I am excited for this set. It already sold out the limited edition version, but um yeah, it looks good. i love This is my favorite arc from that cartoon from the animated series from the 90s, so I'm very excited that they're doing this. It comes with a lot of articulation and a lot of cool accessories to different hands different different webs and everything it looks awesome um Denny the director of dune part one and two talking about talking about star wars um said he isn't interested in directing a star wars movie saying star wars became crystallized in its own mythology very dogmatic
00:37:20
Speaker
It seemed like a recipe, no more surprises. I think he's talking about everything past Return of the Jedi pretty much. There's a lot of people on that opinion. The further quote is that he was such a big Star Wars fan, and then Return of the Jedi ruined it for him. yeah um that was going around because there's two kid friendly and that's when he kind of checked out of star wars uh makes sense but it would have been cool to see him like take do his own take on um a different story within the star wars universe that would have been really cool because you say there's there's no more surprises well why don't you do a movie and make it very surprising why don't you why don't you back up those words and that's just i mean that's the problem though is lucas film will never let somebody take
00:38:06
Speaker
take risks anymore, because of what happened with episode eight. Right. And obviously with Rogue One also firing their director during that production of that. um So he wouldn't even be allowed to take those risks if he was given the keys. So right. Right. um Coming out next week on the second was that Monday ah We got Skelton Crew, very excited about that. We got a new picture on the right of Jude Law and the robot character of that. But coming out a day early, what's been going on the third, coming out on Monday night, episode one and two. um And then a week later, I think it's going to continue doing it on Tuesday nights or maybe Wednesday, I can't remember. Episode three is going to be airing until January. So we got the we the list of directors on there. John Wash directing the first and last episode. but
00:38:50
Speaker
ah Bryce Dallas Howard coming in on Episode 6. So yeah, we're very excited about that. Got a new poster for Craven the Hunter. Comes out in just a few weeks as well. um This is a international poster for our for the movie. Looks really good. The quintessential montage of every character of the movie in one scene, in one poster. Yeah, I'm excited for it, but again, Sony fucks with us too much. so And speaking of Craven, um Baltimore Ravens put a ah K at the beginning of their name I guess last weekend for promoting this Craven movie. but um And finally in news, getting, oh I got one more thing, sorry. Came out today, Ryan Reynolds was talking about Disney and doing Deadpool and Wolverine for Disney and the one thing in the script that was removed, the one joke,
00:39:47
Speaker
Um, this is the exact quote in this in the script. Fuck. What, we can't even afford one more X-Men? Disney is so cheap, I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse cock in my throat. I guess Kevin Feige said no to that?
00:40:02
Speaker
ah Yeah, um understandably, um, I wanted to mention this we talked about it last week I'm Superman coming out on streaming on next week December 7th If you have not seen this documentary go out of your way next week, it comes to me out on max HBO max um And it's coming out on on there to watch. It's a very good documentary um Yeah, it comes out 8 p.m. On HBO and max next week on December 7th and Um, finally in news, we got our first kind of poster. Um, well, second poster, if you consider what he released online of Superman, but this is an animated kind of comic book style poster of David Cornset and sweat. Um, coming out, uh, what come and what con is this coming out? C C C X P, whatever the hell C C X P. Yep.
00:40:49
Speaker
yeah Yeah, and I guess James Gunn did say that it was just fan-made just people were attaching it to CC XP. So it is just fan made. Oh This was like literally like this afternoon I saw Okay, he said it's a great job and he's like we didn't officially make that Okay. yeah Oh, that's look it does look really cool. by that yeah we yeah We are just a few weeks away. waiting for superman news and i mean were We are a few weeks away. We know something's coming. We know we're on the precipice. but um That's it for the show this week. Next week, beginning of the month, show and tell.
00:41:25
Speaker
um We live in time in the movie here with Robert Zemeckis, both streaming now. We may be tackling those in the next few weeks. um Shrinking episode 9, you're gonna catch up on that. You're gonna catch up on Dune Prophecy. um Skeleton Crew comes out on next Monday. And next Thursday, Creature Commandos. I'm excited for that. um There's a new documentary coming out on Peacock next Tuesday or Wednesday. The Girl's Gotten Wild, The Untold Story.
00:41:54
Speaker
Um, big, huge thing in the nineties, girls gone wild. oh yeah I know there was a lot of fuckery going on with that. There's a four porn became mainstream as before you had the access to that stuff on your phone. These VHS were flying off the shelf. Um, um, and I remember the guy who did girls gone wild end up going to jail for some shady shit. And you weren't surprised when he did.
00:42:16
Speaker
So interesting to watch that. Also coming out next Friday, the Y2K movie ah comes out next Friday. um Next month, big, huge months of release. We got some Christmas films. The only two I have on the docket next month are The Holiday, which is a movie I've never seen before, and the one that you've been holding the off on is The Holdovers. It came out, you watched it last year and loved it. Which is gonna be the last, that's gonna be the last one we've watched on the month, because it takes place like the week after Christmas.
00:42:42
Speaker
So that would be the perfect one to end the month on, I think. Yeah, we'll do that. um Secret Level comes out on Prime on the 10th. I'll keep seeing new trailers for this. It looks great. I'm going to try to watch that. On the 13th, big movie release is coming out on the 13th. Craven the Hunter, Lord of the Rings, War for Rohirrim.
00:43:01
Speaker
um On Disney Plus you got Elton John never too late documentary. um I believe it's following him his whole entire life um and Dexter original sin also comes out that day Paramount Plus excited for that um On the 20th, you've got Mufasa and you got Sonic 3 and I'm on the 22nd what if season three the final season of what if um on the 24th day before Christmas we got a complete unknown the Bob Dylan biopic on the 25th Nosferatu comes out I'm gonna do a bonus review of the last voyage of the Demeter which I believe is based kind of off of that it's Nosferatu is Bram Stoker's Dracula basically retold
00:43:48
Speaker
um I already reviewed the last voyage of The Demeter on this podcast two years ago when it came out. yeah And that basically there's one chapter in Bram Stoker's Dracula and that's what the entire movie is based off that one chapter of Dracula getting to Transylvania or whatever. oh I highly enjoyed that movie and I hope you do too.
00:44:07
Speaker
Yep, and the other thing this month the end of the month comes out on the 26th squid game season 2 I'm going to be watching season 1 to prep for that in the next few weeks oh And we're gonna at the end of the month. We'll take a couple weeks off to to go through the holiday wall of no news So we'll probably end the that week um But yeah, thanks everyone for watching, listening to our show if you're listening in podcast form, and we will talk to you next week.
