Norwich's Season Struggles

And you put Birmingham and were one place off. So you you were also only a couple of places off with Norwich.

So them doing pretty much what we expected, just narrowly missing out on the playoffs this season.

Yeah, I thought it would be a bit of a struggle for them, but I thought they would probably do better bringing in a new manager. One of the reasons I thought they might get playoffs is obviously they brought Liam Manning in from Bristol,

and you know but there is strong opposition around them. And obviously that went absolutely disastrously for them, right? Like he he was one of the reasons they were basically in the bottom.

And then they ended up in the issue, or well, they ended up with Clement, right? And ever since then, they've pretty solid, played pretty well against us. I'd expect them to be up and around it next season, to be perfectly honest.

Yeah. They'll be another one of these teams. That's what makes it such good league, mate. so many of these teams that are going to be looking to push on and up from their pretty solid finish this season.

There's been a lot of for a lot of like this season where there's been teams everyone kind of expected to do better, but struggled slightly the beginning because of whatever reason.

And then like those have come home to roost, right? like with Where we've ended up finishing is because of our really rough start the season. Sheffield United as another example.

Like all teams that kind of had rough starts of the season brought it back, but brought it back not enough to be where they probably wanted to be. And whilst we're in the playoffs, realistically, when we started, we probably wanted to be in the top two and we got very close to that.

But ultimately, it's those missed points the beginning of the season that have affected more than a few clubs.

Because when we were chatting to our resident Derby fan and our former owner in from GSPN, Nick, he was not feeling particularly optimistic about the season.

but Well, yeah, everything he never told us about Derby was that they were terrible. And then you look at how much they've struggled in previous seasons and they've not been pretty great. And, you know, famously for having Wayne Rudy and Frank Lampard in recent days and having the worst points tally in the Premier League, which is we got a lot of stick about that last year.

Because, of course, what that meant was... that if we had the worst pat point study of all time, according to him, it would have meant that they are basically irrelevant at that point.

But obviously they started off, you know, sort of as you'd expect them to. But then, yeah, they just kind of like picked up and just got a good manager, managed to create quite a good squad and very, very narrowly missing out on playoff places.

Wrexham's Season Reflection and Ambitions

Right, next up in seventh, I put Millwall just narrowly missing out on the playoffs. You put Norwich, so weren't far wrong. And it was actually Wrexham.

Look, some disappointer get this is going to be another one where they're obviously going to feel disappointed because they missed out on it coming into the last day of the season, right? But realistically, as a team, especially as a team that, you know three years ago were playing Eastley, like, it's it's an unbelievable finish the season for them. And I don't think any real Wrexham fan will be disappointed with with that.

No, the the idea they were just going to get back to back to back to the Premier League is, kind come on, like, it gets to a point where you hit a ceiling.

Of course, Hull massively exceeding both of our predictions. And in fact, Zach... where this position in the league, 6th, is, in the scoring system that I've got set up, our biggest difference. Both of us scored the most points for this prediction with 17 points.

I mean, it doesn't surprise me again, like, you know, I briefly touched on it on it when we were talking about sort of the lower le loma echelons last episode, but they had Ruben Sellis in charge of them.

I know that Middlesbrough are the ones that beat 4-0, but, you know, Hull have been the ones where we've gone into both those games immediately probably arrogantly expecting to win both of them without much of an issue and they're the ones that have probably caused us some of the more trouble to be honest all of the playoff teams unfortunately are the ones that have caused us the most trouble this season hence why they are you know in the playoff spots but they are by far the most surprising package and fair play to them because you know

I mean, look, they they had this sensational start to the season and spent something like 290 days inceed so I mean, fifth's going to feel like quite the drop-off for them.

Ipswich got second. Look, they really... Second was felt like it was in their grasp for so long, and they really left it late, didn't they, to secure that spot.

Yeah, I left it to the last game. And, you know, had they not managed that draw against us, they still would have got it for a goal difference. But, you know, if we just won those games against Bristol and them, would have a different conversation.

But, yeah, it's, you know, they they went back down. They are like the opposite of us in the sense of, and Leicester. Because there was stability, right? They kept McKenna. They they kept quite a few of their good players. Yeah, I think the only reason I said that they would end up second is because the optimism that we would win the league and the fact they lost Liam De Lappe, who by the sounds of it might end up back there with everything that's going on at Chelsea, to be perfectly honest.
