Introduction and Premier League Recap

00:00:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Welcome to the Daily Newcastle Podcast and I'm back hosting. I'm allowed to host a Wild Card Wednesday again. Joel hasn't took over for good yet. yet I'm sure she will eventually vote. She's much better than me. and Anyway, it is Wild Card Wednesday and It's been a Premier League weekend which left Man City with no tears left to cry after their fifth defeat in a row. Wolves created problems for Fulham while switching up positions with Palace. And Newcastle were left asking, what is this feeling? Have to lose an uncharacteristically at home again against the Hammers.

Wild Card Wednesday and Guest Introduction

00:00:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
What a sad, sad time it was. Yes, it's a themed in row because it's well called Wednesday and I'm just a little bit weird like that. And speaking of being a little bit weird, I'm joined by two weird guests.
00:00:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know why I went down that route but I did.
00:00:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm just so disappointed.
00:00:58
Jo
yeah
00:00:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Today I am joined by the person once known as the notorious NIC but is now simply Nicky Smalls. How you doing? You okay?
00:01:06
Nicola Pringle-Adams
we yeah Yeah, I'm good,
00:01:10
Jo
Sorry.
00:01:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Notorious B.I.G. Biggie Smalls, Nicky Smalls.
00:01:13
Jo
Biggie Smalls.
00:01:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm trying. and um And I'm also a joined by the only person on our team with a ginger throw. It's Joe. yeah Right, Joe?
00:01:26
Jo
I've already said something I shouldn't there. So yeah, I'm good.
00:01:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
o I just causing confusion.
00:01:29
Jo
Thank you.
00:01:29
Jo
and No, it wasn't anything bad. I was about to say you've seen me when I've just came out of the shower and blow dried my hair and I'm like a big ginger poof, haven't you? But then that's a bit pervy because I'll be like, you've just seen us coming out of the shower.
00:01:29
Nicola Pringle-Adams
so
00:01:41
Jo
And I've just done it.
00:01:42
Jo
Sorry, people. Can we move on?
00:01:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
for
00:01:44
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It's taken a turn for the worst already and we're not even two minutes in.
00:01:46
Jo
Already. Get him.
00:01:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
for my partner listening. I have not seen Jule coming out with Shower and I haven't caused any eruptions in my Jule household either.
00:01:51
Jo
No. No.

Analysis of Newcastle's Performance

00:01:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
So we'll just briefly move on to part one.
00:01:56
Jo
No.
00:01:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well done Jule. I thought I was causing havoc right? With that introduction, just confusion everywhere and Jule comes out with that.
00:02:04
Jo
Told you, it's been one of those days.
00:02:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Anyway, it is um It is the first part of our comment. And I feel like as a daily Newcastle podcast, we have to just but have to just start where it's obvious we've lost to West Ham 2-0 at home.
00:02:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Not a good performance at all, but I kind of want to get your thoughts on it.
00:02:20
Nicola Pringle-Adams
no
00:02:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think we just jump straight in because let's face it, we we have to talk about these things. It's it's good, but we praise Newcastle United when we do well, but we also need to be very fair and let the listeners know how we feel when we lose.
00:02:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
so I'm going to start with the... Nick. I'm going to start with Nick.
00:02:40
Jo
Oh, look.
00:02:41
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Kev's just
00:02:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ooh, look at me, I went round the track.
00:02:44
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I didn't even say that.
00:02:45
Jo
I'll run it.
00:02:46
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I didn't even say that anyway.
00:02:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
For the listeners, we were talking before we started recording and Nick was like, I don't run on the street.
00:02:50
Nicola Pringle-Adams
didy
00:02:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
I am i am posh. I went round a well-lit track.
00:02:56
Nicola Pringle-Adams
No, there was con there was a context to as to why I don't run in the dark on the streets on my own.
00:02:57
Jo
She's a track star.
00:02:59
Jo
Track star.
00:02:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm a track star.
00:03:04
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Listeners, you know, you you get what I'm saying. and So I went to the track where it's nice and lit up and lots of people. Okay.
00:03:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
oh and How do you feel about Newcastle's performance and the result against West Ham?
00:03:12
Nicola Pringle-Adams
What was the question?
00:03:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
We'll try and be a little bit serious now because I've caused enough carnage.
00:03:19
Nicola Pringle-Adams
um yes Yes, look, I think I put it in our group chat last night or this morning whenever I whenever i read it, um when you guys were all talking. I was was actually really helpful, even though we went one nil down in the first 10 minutes, I thought our first half performance was actually really good. I didn't ah you know i thought it looked like we could score two or three goals, just our end product is tris it's just not there sometimes. And sometimes that is the way football goes. um Unfortunately, that's in particular with Newcastle, we see it time and time again. Then we go to the second half where I've got to be honest, it was absolutely awful. I haven't even got any other words for it. there's Some players didn't even know that they wanted to be there, body language was all off. um And I'm going to be really, really honest. ah The player I feel sorry for the most that was just sat on that bench and he has got to be asking questions is Tenali.
00:04:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Because for me yesterday, I thought Longstaff had a really, really poor game. um And that's just my opinion. I don't think he had a great game at all. And I know Eddie's struggling to play Tenali and Bruno on the same pitch at the same time. But it for me, it just wasn't good enough. um Yeah. And it was a shame. And West Ham inevitably deserved a win in the end because they came out fighting. And I don't know if we, the players maybe went into the game with a little bit of um I don't know, expectation we were going to win.
00:04:51
Nicola Pringle-Adams
And West Ham walked all over us in that second half.
00:04:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep.
00:04:53
Nicola Pringle-Adams
So yeah, so that's my take on that one.

Emotional Reactions and Game Preview

00:04:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think a little bit of what you were talking about at the end there. um I think we our attitude didn't look diabolical early on, but it was almost like we didn't score, and we were like, ah, it'll come.
00:05:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
We'll find. Just carry on.
00:05:08
Jo
Mhm.
00:05:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Keep going. you know we'llll We'll get the better of it. And then that goal knocked the stuffing out of us for a little bit. And then we came back, and then we got another early goal in the second a half. Matt knocked the stuffing out of us for a little bit. But one thing I will touch on, what you said, which I thought was quite interesting with the tonightly point,
00:05:20
Jo
Mhm.
00:05:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
I completely get why he didn't change it for that West Ham game ah because obviously he's found the balance and it's worked well in my last couple of games.
00:05:27
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah. Yeah, I agree.
00:05:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
However, you've made a great point. What does How do now then? Because you've got Tenali on the bench. You've got Longstaff and Monique who have both done really well. It looks like it's going to be taken out of his hands because Bruno is injured and Willik is injured.
00:05:43
Jo
Yeah.
00:05:43
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:05:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it might be taken out of his hands a little bit. But if everybody was fit, it would be really interesting to see how he would respond to some of them performances. I'm not saying, but i'm I'm not going to, you know, sit here and talk and stay with the players because they've done brilliant for us over the last three years.
00:05:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
and You know, long stuff gets a lot of stick. Willock was getting an unbelievable amount of stick yesterday.
00:06:03
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:06:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
We didn't do it on purpose. We didn't go there thinking, I'm going to have a bad game. And now we're fine. We just, for whatever reason, it didn't click in. You mentioned it as well. You get games like that. Sport is like that. There is times where nothing comes off, nothing goes right.
00:06:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's just every little bubble and you think, come on, give us something. Just follow to us in the box. So sometimes it is one of them games, but I agree. we We should have done a lot better. And I just feel like we should have had a little bit more grit about us when we went behind and we should have really thought, well, actually, come on, dig deep.
00:06:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
We'll win this. But it was almost like, nah, it'll still come. Everyone in the ground had that feeling. Half-time, I'm sat there thinking, we'll win this 2-1. No worries.
00:06:38
Nicola Pringle-Adams
yeah
00:06:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think the players that might filter down and the players might have been like, yeah, we'll win. And then the game out started slow and got caught again. and it was like oh no now we're desperate and when we became desperate we became unorganised and we lost that balance.
00:06:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Joe, what are your thoughts? I know you were absolutely raging after that game, I've never seen you so negative, I've never seen you so dire over a game of football which I was actually shocked reading it in the morning when I woke up.
00:06:57
Jo
I was unknown.
00:06:58
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah. No, I know.
00:07:05
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Me too.
00:07:05
Jo
I'm not surprised. It's, um, yeah, no, Nick, I got your response in the morning. Um, all right.
00:07:10
Nicola Pringle-Adams
sorry
00:07:11
Jo
I appreciate, obviously I've had a few things, a few things, a few drinks, um, which obviously then fueled my anger, let's say maybe, but then again, yes and no, because I think it,
00:07:22
Jo
Again, was it the high expectation? Was it the almost arrogance that we thought we were going to walk all over them? I mean, look at the scores that we gave out. I said 4-1.
00:07:31
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Sorry.
00:07:32
Jo
You said 4-0 Kev.
00:07:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
we were Miles O-
00:07:34
Nicola Pringle-Adams
We were miles off weren't we?
00:07:35
Jo
You know what I mean? Like Nick, you said 3-0. So in terms of like what we were predicting was miles off what we, this is what our where our expectation came from. So yeah, I'll be honest.
00:07:47
Jo
Yeah, the second half was beyond abysmal is the only way I can describe that. I'll be honest. And I think the longer it went on, the more frustrated it got and I could feel my anger.
00:07:53
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:07:57
Jo
Honestly, I was bubbling and I never get like that. Well, like you say, you guys have never seen me like that. So I'm so glad, so, so glad I did not do a pod last night. Cause I probably would have went off the rails entirely.
00:08:08
Jo
I wouldn't be sitting here right now. Yeah. So it was probably best that Michael Fair played with him. I have listened to it and he he did it sensibly, which I wouldn't have. So, um, I struggled.
00:08:19
Jo
to find A positive, by the way, I was that raging. I think I'd almost forgot that in the first half it wasn't that bad. I was so annoyed at the end of the match. So i was I was very much clouded by pure anger at the end of the match, I've got to be honest. so um But yeah, it's it's it's a game, right? We've got to move on from it. And all right, it's a kind of scary prospect that Liverpool are our next home game.
00:08:38
Jo
because of the form they're on but then again wouldn't it be a scary prospect because of the form they're on anyway even if we gotta beat West Ham you know so i think it's just it just makes it feel that a little bit worse doesn't it but quickly touching on what you guys said about like um Bruno and stuff
00:08:50
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:08:54
Jo
yet, and all you would have to be brought back in. But again, it's not an easy decision for Hal, but it kinda is, because he is gonna easily come in for one of those injured players, isn't he? So, it's it's you know what I mean?
00:09:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
of
00:09:04
Jo
He's not being forced to make a big decision here. um It'll just be interesting to see what happens, because I don't know what the injury to Bruno's like. I don't haven't read anything, I'll be honest. I tried to find something to today on it, but there was nothing, not that I could see anyway.
00:09:04
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:09:15
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I don't think anything's come out of it yet. Yeah.
00:09:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I think he's just just briefly mentioned it's ah it's a problem with his gluteum.
00:09:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
yeah
00:09:19
Jo
That's what I mean, so...
00:09:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't think they actually know how bad it is yet, but
00:09:22
Jo
Yeah.
00:09:25
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:09:25
Jo
We'll see.
00:09:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
I agree, it was it was very frustrating at the time, but I guess when you're looking ahead to Liverpool, I mean, we've got Palace before that, but you look ahead to the next home game, which is Liverpool, and I think you've just got to... I get told off of this all the time, everywhere, at home, at work, I'm always way too positive.
00:09:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
But, you know, if we had a bit West Ham, winning at Liverpool would have been even more complacent, and we might have been turned over by Liverpool three or four, so I think this is a kick-up, a bum we need again. Don't know how many we keep saying that this season, but it's another kick-up, a bum of...
00:09:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Look, you cannot go to Liverpool. You cannot be that complacent. You must work your socks off if you're wanting to get anything from any game in the Premier League, any game. Man City have lost five in a row, like I said, I mean, reduction.
00:10:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Any team can beat anybody. that I was walking back from the ground last night and I was disappointed. I was actually a little bit gutted because I thought, oh, I expected so much more from that under the lights. But I'm walking back.
00:10:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
I can hear people behind the scene. Well, I'll have to put a chance of Europe. And I'm like, you're kidding me.
00:10:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Oh, for God's sake.
00:10:20
Jo
That's ridiculous.
00:10:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
We could win the next three, you know what I mean?
00:10:21
Jo
Even in my anger, I didn't say that, by the way.
00:10:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
We could win the next three and it's up and down.
00:10:27
Jo
Yeah.
00:10:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
City has six or whatever, how many points he had, points off Liverpool and they're still not over the title race and I think we're something like five points off Manchester City or something.
00:10:37
Jo
It's still so close.
00:10:37
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:10:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
Look, it's a long season.
00:10:39
Jo
So close, man.
00:10:39
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It's so really tight.

Speculation on Player Sales and Fan Impact

00:10:40
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It's a long season. It's going to be a long season, unfortunately.
00:10:41
Jo
Yeah.
00:10:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's a marathon, not a sprint.
00:10:44
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:10:44
Nicola Pringle-Adams
So people need to have a bit of expectation.
00:10:47
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It's going to be a long one.
00:10:47
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:10:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Anybody can beat anybody. wait we We will lose again to a team we expect to beat here. I think the biggest shocking thing is we lose at home. We lost to Brighton at home this season.
00:10:55
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:10:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
We are ah we don't lose at home much under Eddie Hall. So that's something which will um will worry, obviously, Eddie Hall, my coaching staff.
00:10:59
Jo
Yeah.
00:11:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I think Nicola said it brilliantly as well. And I think, Joe, you mentioned that we could have could have been three or four in a row. If we were just more clinical and we put away two of them for each answer, Willough had a good one.
00:11:12
Jo
man
00:11:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Isak was slightly offside.
00:11:16
Jo
yeah
00:11:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Gordon had a golden opportunity. Isak had a good opportunity. You've done brilliantly to bring down the pass on his chest and then just placed it wide. And I'm thinking, and God, if one of them four, two of them four go in,
00:11:26
Jo
Yeah.
00:11:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
completely different game but that is what football is isn't it?
00:11:33
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Absolutely.
00:11:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think that's a perfect place to leave part one. I think we've summarised that quite well and as I always say we're quite balanced but we're always quite neutral aren't we? I think I don't know maybe not um but yeah first advert will be from Mazen Castor-Queen which is with Ginger Frojo
00:11:42
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I hope so.
00:11:51
Jo
Jim Jafro, Joe, quite like it actually. um Here at Global Sports Podcast Network, we've spent a lot of time selecting our delivery platform. Zancaster came out the clear winner with 4K video recording from your phone in AI editing, can't speak, that automatically removes all those ums and ahs.

00:12:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well done.
00:12:18
Jo
Thanks.
00:12:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm not going to say it brilliantly done. It could have been better. Room for improvement.
00:12:21
Jo
It wasn't.
00:12:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
but Well done.
00:12:22
Jo
I'm still dead.
00:12:26
Nicola Pringle-Adams
We'll let you off.
00:12:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Right. Part two. Part two. We saw an unbelievable display from War Flags again against West Ham. Missed time for Alexander Isaac. I think Anthony Gordon's had a personalized one. St. Maximin had a personalized one.
00:12:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Um, and obviously we've had the Northeast local lads one and also we've had unbelievable displays, more flags doing amazing job. Um, I guess what I'm wanting to discuss in part two is are we, when you see things like that, when he's actually sees that or Bruno and Jordan and sort of air flags, I might have been really naive thinking, well, they just can't leave us now because how can you have a fan base?
00:13:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
build up money to create that for you to then just jump ship to man city or any other team really it must I don't know if it does add a little bit of guilt like would he exactly feel guilty now if he left because he'd be like oh if it did that for me or did it have an impact on Jorinton when he was kind of talking about a new contract and he had his own flag didn't make an impact on Bruno when he was linked away and there was a huge Brazilian flag there and his family and Bruno's this season come out and said I don't think Newcastle understand how much I like you he obviously meant love we all know that um but it's yeah in my head he he loves Newcastle United so are we being a bit naive thinking that these players are now attached to us and they love the club and we're attached to a club or
00:13:38
Jo
Well, there was another one saying that you care about us. So, you know, I think it's all been translated wrong, hasn't it? Bless him.
00:13:44
Jo
In one shape or form, but yeah.
00:13:44
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:13:47
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:13:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
does the more sensible part of our brain take over and its it is a business. If somebody comes and triples the wages, we're just going to leave. um I think it's an interesting and one to discuss because I do think it will have some sort of impact. It has to.
00:14:05
Jo
Hmm.
00:14:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Imagine walking out and seeing that. um So, Joe, I'm going to come to you first. I guess the question is, we know about you know PSR, we know about FFP, January's coming up. It could be a big sale or it could happen in some of it.
00:14:17
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Ah.
00:14:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Surely these guys don't want to leave even though we're not performing how we want to perform. Surely we'll look at that and think, um more special here than i am any other club right
00:14:28
Jo
want to think so right um i'm i'm gonna go right down the middle i'm gonna give you both sides of my brain it's a scary scary to place here to be by the way um i'm gonna give you the sensible side and my little dreamy side as well but i think certain players are going to be affected more than others i think the more emotional players like the likes of runo and big joe who have already established are very emotional um players i think they actually will be more affected than the likes of ezak
00:14:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
but you honest thought
00:14:54
Jo
This is all guesswork, I don't know Isaac. I could be bang on, wrong, and it could be the other way around. But I'll be honest, no, I don't actually think it would stop the likes of Isaac going. I think it does help the likes of Big Joe and Bruno. However, like you've just said, if someone came and tripled their wages, and it was Barcelona, Real Madrid, some massive club comes in for them, they're gone. I think we've got to be very sensible about it in that sense.
00:15:19
Jo
um my dreamy head would be like, yeah, of course, they absolutely love us and they won't go anywhere. um But when you mentioned PSR there and sell them one of our big players, and I think we have talked about it, we haven't won the past about, like, who would be the one to go? If you asked me right now and I had to pick one, I think it's EZQ that goes next.
00:15:39
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Whoa!
00:15:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nah.
00:15:42
Jo
Do you not think?
00:15:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's a bold statement. I don't know.
00:15:45
Jo
and is If you had to pick one of our biggest stars, then who do you think
00:15:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think Gordon, I know he's just signed a new contract.
00:15:50
Jo
Who do you think would go then if it's not Isaac?
00:15:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Gordon signed a new contract, but I feel like it's a bit of, it's a bit of um insurance for Newcastle, that that new Gordon contract.
00:15:53
Jo
Right.
00:15:58
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:15:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's like, oh, well, look, he's on five years. If you're one of them, you have to pay those big bucks.
00:16:01
Jo
True.
00:16:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
But then Gordon hasn't really done that well this season.
00:16:04
Jo
So if Isaac doesn't go, who goes? Bruno?
00:16:08
Jo
If Isaac doesn't go, who goes? That's what it means to who else goes.
00:16:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Bruno's not going to go.
00:16:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Gordon.
00:16:11
Jo
if If you had to pick one of our big stars, that's all I did right there, by the way.
00:16:16
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Who are we putting in this category?
00:16:16
Jo
That's what I said. If we got, if if we, Gordon,
00:16:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Bruno Esac.
00:16:22
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Gordon.
00:16:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joe.
00:16:23
Jo
Big Joe.
00:16:25
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Big Joe.
00:16:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Out of them, Gordon's going for me. If I had to pick one of them to sell, I'd sell Gordon out of them for.
00:16:30
Jo
Oh no, it's not who I would sell, by the way.
00:16:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
which Sven Poppmann.
00:16:33
Jo
I just think who I think would go out of all those, who I think we can make a decent profit on, who I think is more likely to go.
00:16:35
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Who you think? Yeah.
00:16:41
Jo
Sven could be up there.
00:16:41
Nicola Pringle-Adams
but
00:16:43
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It could be. no and you
00:16:44
Jo
Yeah.
00:16:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's a tough one, isn't it? I think, yeah, a hundred grand.
00:16:45
Jo
I'm talking about the big bucks player, cause you get a hundred grand for EZAC, don't you? A hundred grand. A hundred million is what I mean.
00:16:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'd buy him for a hundred grand just to come play football, meet the God.
00:16:55
Jo
Let's all clump together. Should we all clump together?
00:16:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Not when I have a hundred grand.
00:16:57
Jo
We'll get him for a week.
00:16:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
If anyone's listening and wants to give us a hundred grand, then brilliant. um But I don't know, I think you did yeah think you are spot on with Joe Linton and Bruno. I think they probably are super attached to us now.
00:17:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think you have to take Barstone and Real Madrid out because I don't think any sensible Newcastle fan would begrudge a player moving to one of them clubs, in my opinion.
00:17:11
Nicola Pringle-Adams
You just don't know.
00:17:15
Jo
No, not I wouldn't.
00:17:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Every team in the world is a feeder club for Barstone and Real Madrid. If they want to play, they can get them because of the statue and the game, the history of the club.
00:17:21
Jo
Yeah.
00:17:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
They are absolutely huge. I would be very annoyed if Isaac left for somebody like an Arsenal. because it's a bit like well yes they are better than us yes we are more consistent yes we are going to challenge for a league more than us but you're not really like man city leave for man city because you are definitely going to win something at man city um but then i think having Bruno and Joe didn't understand that if they win a league cup with Newcastle that would be worth so much more than winning an FA Cup with Arsenal surely
00:17:53
Jo
Yeah.
00:17:56
Jo
Mm hmm.
00:17:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
It just would be, they understand that whereas Isaac might be, you know, I would never have got the Arsenal. I don't know. It's really hard to tell.
00:18:03
Jo
I think Bruno, they come across that they want it more, don't they?
00:18:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nick, what do you think? you Yeah.
00:18:06
Jo
You know what I mean? they Unless it's all just that, but they do come across that they want it more.
00:18:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
do you think um What do you think, Nick? do Do you think we are more likely to keep a hold of our players after showing them this much love or do you think it makes absolutely zero difference?
00:18:20
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I think we have to probably set our expectation now that a big sell is coming. It's going to happen. um And the club have been hinting towards that for the past couple of transfer windows now. We're not going to get away with it much longer. So it's it's either going to happen in January or it's going to happen in the summer, probably more likely the summer. um i um I am of the opinion that I don't think it makes any difference.
00:18:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, the love we show them just to make no difference.
00:18:54
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I don't think it, right, I'm not explaining this very well. They obviously know they're they're very loved, the likes of Bruno, Isaac, Joe Linton. They obviously know they are very loved, but we're talking about a business now, like football and money comes calling.
00:19:07
Jo
who
00:19:08
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I don't think that's going to sway their decision. And the only way I can compare it, and I'm not comparing Bruno and Joey Linton and all these players to this particular player, but I am talking about when I remember, it was only a couple of years ago, obviously, because he's a young player,
00:19:24
Nicola Pringle-Adams
um Mason Mount left Chelsea to go to Man United and Chelsea showed him all the love because he came from their academy all the way through and played for their first team.
00:19:34
Jo
here
00:19:34
Nicola Pringle-Adams
And he left at the drop of a hat when Man United came knocking on the door. um
00:19:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know if he wanted to leave or did he did he want to leave? I think he, I don't know if he was forced.
00:19:44
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Well, I don't know him personally, so I'm not too sure.
00:19:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know.
00:19:47
Nicola Pringle-Adams
But you Chelsea, with our plays be before, you know, so
00:19:48
Jo
Would our players be full still?
00:19:52
Jo
We could.
00:19:52
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It's all, yeah, I don't know.
00:19:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
Point.
00:19:54
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It's a tough one. And I would love to keep the likes of Bruno and and Joey and Big Joe and things like that. So I don't know. It's, I think it's coming and I'm really, really scared.
00:20:06
Nicola Pringle-Adams
And I'm not sure which them it's going to be.
00:20:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think it's, I think it's got to make some difference. I think when you see all the, all the lovely Newcastle fans are showing them more flags and stuff. I think if I had to personally pick with two, I'd never want to leave him a two.
00:20:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
I want to retire at Newcastle is Jolynn and Bruno.
00:20:21
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:20:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
I would be good if he's like went, but I'd be like, okay, we'll we need a new strike there.
00:20:23
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:20:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
We've got a lot of money for him. If Gordon went, I'd be a little bit good cause I do like Gordon a lot, but I'd be thinking, okay, we'll here we' come a place and we can get money.
00:20:30
Jo
Mm.
00:20:31
Nicola Pringle-Adams
ah
00:20:33
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:20:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joel Hinton and Bruno would be absolutely heart wrenching.
00:20:36
Jo
Yeah.
00:20:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
That would be horrendous. i like On my level of when Amanda Stave, he just vanished.
00:20:37
Jo
It would.
00:20:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
That would be horrendous.
00:20:41
Jo
Yeah.
00:20:42
Nicola Pringle-Adams
They've both come out and said that that they want to.
00:20:42
Jo
There are Brazilian boys, aren't there? They're ours.
00:20:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
um
00:20:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:20:45
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah, and they both come out and said that they want to mark themselves in Newcastle history, so let's just hope.
00:20:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Exactly. We both talk about winning a trophy so much.
00:20:50
Jo
Mm-hmm.
00:20:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think that's the biggest difference.
00:20:52
Nicola Pringle-Adams
They do. They do.
00:20:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
On the other hand, with the big sale, I don't know if it is coming. I think we could sell. And um'm um I'm not advocating selling these because I'm not giving up on them yet. But like if you could get 30, 35 million for hobby bonds, that's enough money to keep yourself.
00:21:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
spending the money if you could maybe get and god I don't want this to happen because I really like him by the way I've just put him in fantasy football team which I'm gutted about because he's injured but someone like Joe Willick you could probably get what 20 25 million for Joe Willick I think I don't think that would be an unfair price um and you've all of a sudden made 60 you've made 60 million pound what
00:21:23
Jo
I'd rather keep him for that. Would you not?
00:21:29
Jo
Would you not rather keep him for that?
00:21:31
Jo
Not that we've got that decision to make, but do you know what I mean?
00:21:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'd rather keep them.
00:21:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
But if it if it comes to selling if it comes to selling a Gordon, an Isaac, a Bruno or a Joe Linton, I'd rather sell them too.
00:21:34
Jo
Do you not think 20 million?
00:21:39
Jo
Oh no.
00:21:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
and then spend money rather than sell one of the bigger players.
00:21:43
Jo
Oh no.
00:21:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
that's That's what I'm trying to say.
00:21:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't think it has to necessarily be the summer comes and there's a huge sale. I think we could do a couple of just average, like average number sales in terms of like, I see a 35 million for Barnes, 25 million for Willick.
00:21:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then there might be one more who goes, I don't know. and But I'd i'd rather see that happen when just one of the bigger players go. I think it sends more of a message to the rest of the Premier League when you all sell in your big players. I don't like the message that sends. Unless you do what Kevin Keegan did and sell Andy Cone and bring Alan Sheehan, that would be amazing.
00:22:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
So Sally's that can bring in Holland, right?
00:22:18
Jo
and I don't like him.
00:22:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
so
00:22:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
No, I don't like Holland.
00:22:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
That would be a statement. It would be a statement. Anyway, part two.

Football Trivia Quiz

00:22:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's a good place to leave it. And then part three would have been a wild card Wednesday.
00:22:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
We have a quiz. Joe against Nick again. Unbelievable. I think this is the original quiz duo.
00:22:35
Nicola Pringle-Adams
My brain's not working, so Jo's already got the win.
00:22:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
and You'll be fine. Oh, I hate that. ah Hey, were you playing against West Ham in the second half or something?
00:22:39
Jo
We're doing great together, Nick.
00:22:42
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Oh, here we go.
00:22:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
but but at you
00:22:44
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Here we go. Someone's put 50 pence in them.
00:22:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Competition man, competitive.
00:22:47
Jo
ah
00:22:48
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Here we go. Can't say anything without Kev.
00:22:49
Jo
competition man!
00:22:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
you
00:22:50
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Right, advert.
00:22:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
run round Run round the well lit track. and Oh, look at me having a nice little run on a fancy track.
00:22:57
Jo
I don't know who is!
00:22:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't run on but on the streets or the pavement. I'm posh. And then I can't above the concrete. I was going to let Joe win. Absolutely not. Right. Get the advert done and we'll come back for part three.
00:23:06
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Are you done? Are you done?
00:23:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:23:11
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:23:11
Jo
I don't know who he is!
00:23:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:23:11
Nicola Pringle-Adams

To be fair, that was brilliantly done. Well done.
00:23:41
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Is that alright for you? Yeah, no problem.
00:23:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
I take back up my my little rant to try and get you geared up and fired up the wind. I want you to wind it.
00:23:46
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah.
00:23:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's out of pure commitment to the cause.
00:23:50
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Okay.
00:23:50
Jo
What?
00:23:51
Nicola Pringle-Adams
What?
00:23:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Good luck, Joe. Good luck.
00:23:53
Jo
What have I done?
00:23:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right.
00:23:55
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Come on then!
00:23:56
Jo
I'm sitting here all nice and chillin', he's like just...
00:23:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
and yeah but I've got Nick fired up and I've got Joe thinking, why doesn't he want me to win?
00:24:03
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Oh no, I'm trying to get comfortable. I'm scared.
00:24:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Get comfortable, Joe. Take your time.
00:24:08
Jo
You have stood a chance last night, I would have absolutely hammered you the mood I was in.
00:24:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Everything OK? Have you got a drink, Nick? You all good? You comfortable? Good. Right, Joe? Yep, spot on. Right. Here we ah you would go.
00:24:21
Jo
Dude, like...
00:24:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joe is raging if nobody wants him. I am getting the death eye, I'm getting all sorts of tears and not good.
00:24:28
Jo
but Yeah.
00:24:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm just going to do my job as a host to get the quiz done and there leave and hopefully still be alive tomorrow. Right.
00:24:36
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Very morbid.
00:24:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
First question. First question. It is to do with penalties because we should have had a penalty against West Ham. We didn't even mention that, did we?
00:24:44
Nicola Pringle-Adams
No, we didn't.
00:24:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
But we should have had a penalty in my opinion.
00:24:46
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Bad host.
00:24:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
But when again, we did have two against them last season, so I get it. Speaking of a two against them last season, Alexander Isaac was the second ever player to score
00:24:52
Jo
I know.
00:24:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Two penalties in one game against two different goalkeepers. Who is the other player to do it in the Premier League history? So a score two penalties in one game against two different goalkeepers. It's only ever happened twice. He's acted it against Fabianski and Ariola in 2024. Do you know who the other player was? so
00:25:15
Nicola Pringle-Adams
But it's not, is it a Newcastle player or just in general?
00:25:16
Jo
Was it kind of, was it recent?
00:25:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Just in the Premier League history.
00:25:20
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Okay.
00:25:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Just in general. Not a Newcastle player.
00:25:22
Jo
Is it like, is it kinda recently?
00:25:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
There's a big group.
00:25:26
Jo
Just a little clue.
00:25:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
2009.
00:25:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
nine
00:25:29
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Oof.
00:25:29
Jo
Oh yeah.
00:25:30
Nicola Pringle-Adams
That was 13 years old.
00:25:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
i was I was going to say it's relatively recently, but oh my God, it really isn't 15 years ago.
00:25:34
Nicola Pringle-Adams
It's not.
00:25:35
Jo
No, that's a long time ago actually.
00:25:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's crazy.
00:25:39
Jo
So someone one scored two penalties against two keepers in one match.
00:25:39
Nicola Pringle-Adams
and I don't know.
00:25:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think a famous penalty tick is around 2009.
00:25:46
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Wayne Rooney. No, that's not...
00:25:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Could be.
00:25:50
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I'm gonna go for him.
00:25:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay. Wayne Rooney is next guest. Joe.
00:25:57
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I don't think Wayne Rooney was a 2009 player, or was he?
00:25:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, he was.
00:26:01
Jo
But I'm having the worst memory.
00:26:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
played in 2009. That was like peak bold Rooney.
00:26:05
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Was it?
00:26:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep.
00:26:07
Jo
I can't even think of penalty takers.
00:26:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joe.
00:26:09
Jo
Oh, I don't know. Thierry Omri.
00:26:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Thierry Henry.
00:26:13
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Well, that's not a bad shot.
00:26:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right. Wolf. both incorrect but Nicola was closest because she picked an Englishman it was Steven Gerrard he scored two penalties against Aston Villa against Brad Friedel and is it Guzhan?
00:26:17
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Perfect.
00:26:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know Guzhan's first name is but maybe it's Brad but yeah anyway a bit of an easier one this one's definitely more doable so the one who gets closest to the top player will get a point right in terms of who is closest to the top so
00:26:29
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Take your word for it.
00:26:42
Jo
Okay.
00:26:45
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Okay.
00:26:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Which Premier League player has the most goal involvements for a single club?
00:26:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
So that's goals and assists combined, goal involvements. Who has the most for a single club?
00:26:57
Jo
In the Premier League.
00:26:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
One club. So think of people who have been at one club for ages in the Premier League, in the Premier League only yet.
00:27:05
Jo
So we're talking assisting goals obviously, yeah.
00:27:07
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Why do I feel like my last answer is the answer for this one?
00:27:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Could be, you can lock them in if you want.
00:27:14
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I've just got a feeling it is.
00:27:17
Jo
that
00:27:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Can I have the same answer, Wayne Rooney?
00:27:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
When Rudy is Nick's answer.
00:27:23
Jo
Frank Lampard.
00:27:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, you've both got a player.
00:27:25
Nicola Pringle-Adams
oh That's a good one.
00:27:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
You've both got a you' both got players in my top six. Frank Lampard had 237 goal involvements. Wayne Rooney is number one. Well done, Nick.
00:27:35
Jo
Well done, Nick.
00:27:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's a great answer. 276 goal involvements for a single club.
00:27:38
Jo
Nice.
00:27:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
The others who make up that list, if anybody listening and thinking, and well, mine wasn't mentioned. Ryan Giggs, 271. Harry Kane, 259. Thierry Henry, 249.
00:27:47
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Oh, yeah.
00:27:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mo Salah is now 239 and still playing.
00:27:53
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Wow.
00:27:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
35 years old still going strong. He's doing well Right that leads me nicely into the next question.
00:27:56
Nicola Pringle-Adams
You just do them, aren't you?
00:28:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it's one nil Nick question number three Which Premier League player has the most Premier League goals at one club? So forget goal involvements who has the most goals at one club in Premier League history Sounds like a trick question doesn't it?
00:28:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
But who has the most Premier League goals at one club in Premier League history?
00:28:20
Nicola Pringle-Adams
um i feel like actually frozen oh between two people and i'm not sure of them close at all
00:28:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
looks anxious just ki it frozen oh i don't know she was frozen off she was just looking like that for ages i was like i was like you're making eye contact with her thinking is she going to respond i'm just going to move my head i'm just going to look directly at it is she still there geez been a tough day for joe everybody he
00:28:39
Jo
I'm sorry. No, I was just looking up there.
00:28:44
Jo
Sorry.
00:28:48
Jo
Well, I was going to say Shira, but then I don't know what's too obvious.
00:28:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
in between you've just nailed Wayne Rooney to be fair well you didn't you know
00:28:53
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I'm in between Alan Shearer or Harry Kane.
00:28:56
Jo
I know I was going to say Shira.
00:28:59
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I'll go Harry Kane then to be different.
00:29:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nicholas smashing it.
00:29:03
Jo
Go on, then I'll say Shira.
00:29:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Harry Kane has the most Premier League goals at one club. 213.
00:29:08
Jo
Well done.
00:29:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Harry Kane just for Tottenham. Fair play. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. 2-0, Nick.
00:29:13
Jo
I'm a lethal chef.
00:29:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right. leads us to our last question.
00:29:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right back to penalties. Right where we began, I want to know who has the best conversion rate penalty wise in Premier League history they have to have taken over 10 penalties 10 or more so who has the best conversion rate not who scored the most penalties but who has the best conversion rate in Premier League history it was two people over 100% there's a big clue was two people who have never missed a penalty whilst playing in the Premier League. I've got the top 15, so again, the one with the highs gets a point. And we might make a double points just for the just for the crack, because Nick's turn it up.
00:29:59
Jo
Ronaldo.
00:30:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Cristiano.
00:30:03
Jo
Oh yeah, obviously.
00:30:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Obviously Cristiano, because Brazilian Ronaldo never played in the Premier League. Nick, I wish he did.
00:30:08
Jo
The travesty.
00:30:10
Jo
I know.
00:30:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
It is a travesty.
00:30:12
Jo
The real Ronaldo.
00:30:12
Nicola Pringle-Adams
ah
00:30:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Probably Robson wanted to sign in with the Premier, she would imagine that.
00:30:15
Jo
Imagine.
00:30:15
Nicola Pringle-Adams
We're now, there was on my tongue.
00:30:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
who you're going for.
00:30:20
Jo
It was only because he's penaldo.
00:30:20
Nicola Pringle-Adams
ah can
00:30:21
Jo
That's all I've picked. I've got an i' a real brain blob.
00:30:25
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I'm trying to think it's the best conversion rate.
00:30:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
The top two have 100%. Best conversion rates, so the top two have never missed. 11 out of 11 for one player and 10 out of 10 for another player.
00:30:35
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I feel like Mossy's face used to play for Man City. Never missed a penalty. Oh my God. What is his name? What is his name?
00:30:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, how are you going to get number one in the last three questions?
00:30:44
Nicola Pringle-Adams
He's got a chant.
00:30:48
Nicola Pringle-Adams
What's the chant? Oh my God.
00:30:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
This could be unbelievable.
00:30:50
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yaya's glory.
00:30:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
She's actually got him. Yo-Yo Torres, what are you going for?
00:30:54
Nicola Pringle-Adams
That's who I'm going for.
00:30:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
She's got number one again. She got number one in the last three out of a three. Nick, that is an unbelievable performance by the way.
00:31:01
Jo
Nick, you smashed it.
00:31:01
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I'm pleased with that.
00:31:02
Jo
Well done.
00:31:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well done.
00:31:04
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Thank you, darlings.
00:31:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
That was impressive. Very impressive. So yes, Yo-Yo Torres, number one, 11 out of 11.
00:31:07
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Thanks.
00:31:07
Jo
Very.
00:31:08
Nicola Pringle-Adams
um like He's got a chance.
00:31:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
11 out of 11, 100%. Cole Palmer second.
00:31:13
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Oh.
00:31:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's taken 10. He's only scored 10.
00:31:15
Jo
Oh God, cool parliament.
00:31:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
So you have to have taken over 10. Third, I think,
00:31:18
Jo
Yeah.
00:31:18
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Hmm.
00:31:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joe's probably going to kick herself. Matt Leticia here, 25 out of 26. So that's a 96.2% ratio.
00:31:24
Jo
Yeah.
00:31:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hardly ever missed. Danny Murphy, 18 out of 19. And the round off for top five, by the way, Callum Wilson scored 16 out of 17 penalties, 94.1%.
00:31:35
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Wow.
00:31:35
Jo
I did consider him to be fair.
00:31:37
Jo
Yeah, I just didn't think he was 100% so...
00:31:38
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah, he's got good.
00:31:39
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Yeah, get that. I think Ray has cold palm oil so high up.
00:31:41
Jo
Cool.
00:31:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, there's a couple of others who have only missed one, but have took less than Callum Wilson. So James Beatty, Julian Dix, Erwin Harland on Rees on 23 out of 25. Eve Antoni, 11 out of 12.
00:31:54
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Hmm.
00:31:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Leighton Baines, 20 out of 22. It's a good list. Gary Speed's on there as well, but yeah. Well done, Nick. That was an insane performance. That's probably one of the most impressive performances ever in a wildcard Wednesday quiz.
00:32:00
Jo
It was.
00:32:01
Nicola Pringle-Adams
I'm I feel like I've redeemed myself, guys.
00:32:04

00:32:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, she got the top answer in every single one.
00:32:06
Jo
You have.
00:32:08
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Come on.
00:32:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think what's I'm going for a performance of the pod rather than man of a match. or play with much Performance of a pod goes to Nick. I think we should start a performance of a pod award for ah good performances on the pod.
00:32:20
Jo
Performance of the pod, I like it.
00:32:20
Nicola Pringle-Adams
Lovely.
00:32:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think we should we should award everybody a performance of a pod award because Nick's just earned that.
