Hello, hello. Welcome to the Amazing Rewatch. Jessica here. And Sadie. This is season 19, episode 2. It was was kind of a wild one. Yeah, I was going to say, it's actually a really good episode. I really liked it, and it was kind of, you know, like a Not a lot of ah like airplane drama airport drama or things like that. It was, I mean, we'll get into it, but it was an exciting one.

And yeah, then they lawrence and zach ten twenty two andy and tommy ten twenty three ron and bill ten forty eight kalon and lisa eleven and ah nine liz and marie at eleven thirty one and yeah then they kind of arrive at the airport, find out that the next or the first flight to Jakarta is at 8.45 a.m. m So nobody is flying out that night and they're all like, was there an elimination last night? We haven't seen Bill and Kathy or Ma and Pa, as they call them. Mm-hmm.

Like the more chance, yeah the more people there are, the more chance we like will not be in the bottom two.

That was more like ah just Ethan and Jenna. So they're the ones on Survivor and they're they're like, we're glad we didn't come in first to last leg and put a bigger target on our back because we've already won Survivor.

And in this train station, Justin and Jennifer, they're the brother and sister. They start fighting. They did not really get along the first episode, but we didn't see very much of them because there was much going on.

Fighting a little bit more this episode. It was in it very weird. Yeah. So Justin, they're at the term like the train place for this overnight train. They have some time, it seems like. And Justin wants to call on the phone to help research. Maybe let's get some transportation arranged or do some research or you know like try to get ahead a little bit. and For some reason, Jennifer just doesn't want to. She wants to go sit on the train and wait.

And she, unless there's something that we didn't see, she is like majorly overreacting because then everything just like spirals and she freaks out. Yeah, she's really mad and she, they he says, I can't keep doing this, but this whole leg. And she says, well, I don't know what to do differently. I don't know what to tell you. I'm not going to change. And you're just, like their conversation. Yeah, there's something that we missed, but they are not getting along and it's kind of annoying. Yeah.

Yeah, it's very much a sibling rivalry vibe. like a I don't know for sure, but it feels like Justin is probably the oldest and is used to, and also the brother. like you know Sometimes boys get a little bit more, like they feel like they're the leader of a sibling set, and Jennifer is probably just over it, and this environment is bringing out.

But they haven't been racing that long. I know, it's only been a day. They haven't had any major... issues yet You know, they've been doing pretty well in the middle of the pack. And they are fighting a lot. Yeah, it was very weird. And it doesn't really get better. No. So the train arrives

into this cave So it's like a cave that's ah a vertical cave is what they called it It's like a hole in the ground. Which there's a bunch apparently a bunch of caves in Indonesia. ah Search for a Japanese mask and an indigenous dagger. It's a Javanese mask.

I wrote down Japanese too, but then I looked at the clue. Because I was like, why would they look for a Japanese mask in Indonesia? A Javanese. Because Java is like the island, I think. Okay. The only thing I was thinking was maybe just like Japan...

No, like Japan ah was in charge of Indonesia with yeah during the war or something like that. of yeah um Get the mask and the dagger and then climb a bamboo ladder up and out of the cave and deliver this these to the Batani, well who will hand over their next clue.

But there's also a speed bump right here. So Bill and Kathy, because they arrived last and were not eliminated, they have a speed bump. And this one, it they have to untangle a knotted rope to reach across this space to get to the carabiner. So it's one long rope.

All tangled up. They referenced a Christmas vacation a few times. they're like it's just like Christmas lights. We can do this. It doesn't take them too long. And they're still at the front of the pack. Other teams start arriving. And so Ernie and Cindy, Cindy does the roadblock. And they're actually the only team that get there and start the roadblock before Bill and Kathy. I think like Liz and Marie and Imani and Marcus are also there, but like Bill and Kathy are finishing and they get there before those two teams get their clue. So, so Marie does it. Marcus does it.

And when they grab the mask off of the stake that's in the ground, it does kind of the da-da-da noise. Oh, really? So I thought they had... I thought there was a dagger. I thought they only grabbed the mask and missed the dagger and were going climb out.

But then they climb out and they get their clue. So yeah it was weird that there was that noise. Because we've been watching this very religiously for 19 seasons and we little... We notice. Yeah, the little... ah noise things that they do and what they mean and so when that happened ah this one yeah something like that and I was waiting for something to be wrong and it wasn't so yeah um Bill and Cindy and Marie are kind of climbing out of the cave on this bamboo thing and Bill actually finishes first because

He has longer legs. and Yeah, and I mean, he's in great shape. and There's a few times that I think a couple of teams are like, we have to beat them because we can't run faster than them. like They know that Bill and Kathy are in good shape and are fast. so yeah And apparently like the rungs are really far apart and Cindy is kind of shorter, so she has a hard time climbing with her shorter legs. But yeah, Bill bill finishes first and the next clue is a detour.

The choices are shake your money maker or be a ticket taker. So in shake your money maker, they make their way to a congested intersection to earn tips by dancing. One team member will learn a traditional dance and the other accompanies them on a gamelan, which is like a little drum type thing. And they need to earn 30,000 rupiah. And that is in today's US dollars.

so very much no So be a ticket taker is make their way to a mall and work as a motorbike as motorbike parking attendants for the mall parking lot.

Once they've parked enough motorbikes to earn 15,000 rupiah, so that's like 83 cents, they then they can ah get the next clue. Both detours then require the teams to travel to an orphanage with children orphaned um by the 2010 eruption of Mount Merapi and the teams must donate their earnings to receive the next clue.

However, they also must notice a sign that instructs them to also give all of the money in their possession get get about the clue.

Liz and Marie choose Moneymaker, and Ernie and Cindy choose Ticket Taker. And then Imani and Marcus choose Moneymaker. Seemed pretty evenly split. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So the teams don't really struggle with the roadblock it's just the time it takes yeah and it really was like it kind of came down to the taxi ride yeah this place just to get in and get out bill kehlani and zach are the last three in the cave and they all know that it's a double elimination and so they're like oh you know kind of getting nervous yeah and their partners are all stin like the ones that are standing up they're like the last three partners and they're kind of like

getting nervous but um the teams when they finish the roadblock and then all the teams choose their detour and the detour it doesn't seem to be too far away or hard to find and that doesn't it just takes time so like ah ernie and cindy they finished the detour first because they were kind of a little bit more down the street Ahead of like Bill and Kathy. Yeah. So anybody that was going to pull off the road to park got to them first.

So they finished first. And Bill and Kathy are not too far behind them. And then Liz and Marie are not too far behind them either. So they're kind of at the beginning of the pack. The front of the pack.

Well, I think they went and asked their taxi driver. and they So the badge kind of it relates. It said the location. The Kraton crayton Palace is the pit stop for this regular leg of the race. So, yeah, their taxi driver knows where that is. And it's not very far away by taxi.

It is in Southeast Asia and it's between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It's comprised over 17,000 islands and it's the world's largest arcive so an interesting one the world's largest archipelagic state.

But, you know, just in the moment, I think it's so important to remember if we're ever on the race, don't think too much.

We don't have money. money Oh yeah. So all these other teams had spent some money to take taxis to this palace So Ernie and Cindy get to the pit stop first. Phil says, Ernie and Cindy, you're the first team to arrive. However, there's a problem.
