Barry S2E1 Breakdown: Clone Chaos, “Show Must Go On” Lies & NoHo Hank Grows Teeth

S4 · Streamin' Demons

6 Plays4 hours ago

We’re definitely not wearing the same clothes,” and Jo & Amelie are back to dive headfirst into the madness that is Barry Season 2, Episode 1. It kicks off with a hotel hit gone completely sideways—wrong code, shotgun to the shin, and a guy jumping out the window. Fuchs is spinning, Barry’s missing, and it’s “a complete circus.”

Then it’s curtain up on Barry trying to direct a play (“The show must go on… probably”) while juggling grief, guilt, and a need to be anything other than a hitman. But when he delivers his big acting-class monologue about his first kill in Afghanistan? Sparks fly—Jo calls it a lie, Amelie says it’s how Barry sees it. Cue one of our best disagreements yet.

We also dig into the color language of the show (yes, that’s a thing), Hank’s shift from goofy sidekick to actual threat in a parking lot standoff, Barry’s bad British accent at Lululemon, and Sally’s classic flake-out.

And just a heads-up: we’re Amazon Associates, so if we ever drop a link to something, we might get a tiny cut—just keeping it transparent.

Jo
Hey, everyone. Guess what? Joe and Emily are back, and we're definitely not wearing the same clothes. So, Barry. Hope you guys like Barry season one. We live on a cliffhanger. We're not really a cliffhanger.
00:00:19
Jo
Barry basically kills the detective. There's there's no cliffhanger about that. he just massacres everyone. But we fast forward a couple days, I guess. What? Months? I don't know.
00:00:31
Jo
To the show must go on. Probably. Probably. And this is where Barry starts having his characters. Season 2, Episode 1. So, do you remember how this starts off with basically Fuchs sends in a Barry clone to do a job?
00:00:48
Amelie
Yes. So I really like that scene because we don't know at that stage what happened to Barry. If we're a little bit naive, we don't know if he killed the policewoman or not.
00:00:55
Jo
Right.
00:00:57
Amelie
So we come back to season two and the first scene scene we see is a man who has a gun and is going to knock on the door. So we're like, oh, it's a killer.
00:01:09
Jo
Yeah.
00:01:09
Amelie
Maybe it's Barry because it seems to be a big guy who is going to kill. And it's a very goofy scenario.
00:01:14
Jo
Yeah.
00:01:17
Amelie
The man... open the door, talk to his roommate, but but but bla but but but but but blah,
00:01:21
Jo
Opens.
00:01:24
Amelie
at this person in photo of him he's like yeah bang he died
00:01:30
Amelie
then he enter
00:01:30
Jo
Yeah.
00:01:31
Jo
He's the open door, closed door. He's like, open, closes, open, closes. The guy's like, shooting, not shooting, shooting, not shooting, as in bam, yeah.
00:01:35
Amelie
car like but dink yeah yeah so
00:01:40
Jo
It's good setup.
00:01:40
Amelie
here have a roommate who's just stand up and like no don't kill donng tico boom he died that's it's dirty it's not
00:01:48
Jo
No.
00:01:49
Amelie
we've silenced
00:01:49
Jo
No, no, no, no, no. Yeah.
00:01:50
Amelie
It's boom boom.
00:01:53
Amelie
Then we realized it's not Barry. It's somebody we never heard about.
00:01:53
Jo
He's using a shotgun, but he misses the first time.
00:01:59
Amelie
Correct, yes, yes.
00:02:01
Amelie
That's when we were like, oh, this is funny. And then killed him.
00:02:01
Jo
Yeah.
00:02:06
Jo
I was like,
00:02:07
Amelie
And we realized it's not Barry. And we found out it's a character we don't really know because when he take off his protection,
00:02:11
Jo
Yeah.
00:02:17
Amelie
Well, it's a young man, and he has a piece of paper, and he tried to enter the code. missed. Tried to enter the code the second time.
00:02:24
Amelie
He missed. So he grabbed his gun.
00:02:27
Jo
yeah
00:02:27
Amelie
looked like this, and bang, he shoots. And it's not Hollywood. It's Paris. And what happened? He hurt his leg. He hurt his knee.
00:02:38
Jo
Oh, yeah. when Whenever he was pointing his gun at the safe, i'm like, oh, that's going to fucking hurt. Yeah, definitely ricocheted right into his shin. And that is going to be Sean Buchholz doing a great job of just being the bungling thief.
00:02:55
Jo
And then you see Fuchs is talking to some guy. He's like, oh, yeah. like Don't worry. you know We'll have them all dead. like Other guy's like, dead? I didn't think anyone was going to die. like Well, didn't I say that? Of course either they're going to die, yeah.
00:03:07
Jo
And the police come and they're like, oh, see, that's a smart guy getting results done. He gets shot all up before he gets into the door. And the other guy like jumps out the fucking window and kills himself. yeah it's like the whole Everything's going wrong for Fuchs. It's a fucking dumpster fire.
00:03:22
Amelie
It's a catastrophe. It's a complete circus.
00:03:25
Amelie
The guy just opens the window, jumped out, Boom! On the police car. The police arrive and when he opens the door, he sees his guy with a blue dini saying, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, he didn't give me the correct code.
00:03:25
Jo
Yeah.
00:03:40
Jo
yeah
00:03:41
Amelie
And Fuchs just turns like, oh, you didn't give the correct code. And he got shot. And this is Fuchs who needs to open the door to the policeman. And the thing he said is like, oh, oh, you hear?
00:03:54
Amelie
Oh my God, oh
00:03:54
Jo
Thank God. Yeah.
00:03:56
Amelie
oh I was so scared.
00:04:02
Jo
Yeah. It's like, oh, I was a hostage in this random hotel room. Not tied up. Yeah. is And Fuchs will play that role the entire time. and This is kind of like, it's a weird dynamic for Fuchs this season.
00:04:19
Jo
This episode kind of sets up to rest where without Barry, he's really kind of lost.
00:04:25
Jo
He needs Barry.
00:04:26
Amelie
Correct.
00:04:28
Amelie
Yes.
00:04:29
Jo
Because nothing else is kind of working. he's just he Fuchs is too sloppy himself. He needs the consummate professional of Barry to pull things off.
00:04:41
Jo
And that brings us to how we see Barry next. it's He's all dressed up and trying to do a class rehearsal for the front page. He's like, yeah come on, everyone.
00:04:52
Amelie
Mm-hmm.
00:04:53
Jo
we're you know Show must go on. And everyone's like, no, Gene's not here. How can we go on? and We can't do it without Gene. And Barry's like, no, I'll direct. you know Why not?
00:05:06
Jo
It doesn't work out that way. It really doesn't work that that way. And he's really Barry's really trying everything he can but get this show to go on. Because he needs to be on stage.
00:05:15
Amelie
Yes, and the interesting thing is he's so positive.
00:05:16
Jo
He's finally found something that's not killing. He needs it.
00:05:20
Amelie
Yes, and he's so positive.
00:05:22
Jo
Yeah.
00:05:24
Amelie
He's so positive compared to the other group.
00:05:25
Jo
Yeah, absolutely.
00:05:27
Amelie
Like you can see the day and night. He's very excited. He jumps and he's like big smile. He's like, yes, we can do it. And he's very clumsy. And everybody looks normal and act like normal people the The previous series, they look goofy.
00:05:47
Amelie
This time they look really human and the normal. No, his girlfriend died.
00:05:51
Jo
Yeah.
00:05:51
Amelie
We cannot do it without Mr. Kussner. This is not all. This Mr. Kussner plays. It's like, no, I'm going to direct it and stuff and stuff and stuff and stuff. So Sally thinks it's just him who is under trauma, who cannot cope with the grief.
00:06:07
Amelie
While he is, we know, the murderer and just wants to continue his life and play and it's just me, me, me, me.
00:06:08
Jo
Yeah.
00:06:12
Jo
He's the murderer. Yeah.
00:06:17
Jo
Yeah, and that comes into it. It reminds me of one of the first episodes where I think the guy's name was Ryan. Maybe I forgot the guy's name. The actor who died and all the actor, all at the acting crew is like, let's do an homage to him. And they're all trying to like push their own agenda for the homage to their dead friend.
00:06:36
Jo
And then a season later, Hatter's or Bill's character of Barry's kind of like latching on to what they did back then. And he's like, well you know well, this will be an homage to her. This is an homage to Janice. The show must go on.
00:06:53
Jo
you know We owe it to her to make the show go on. they almost uncharacteristically from last season are like, what the fuck's wrong with you?
00:07:05
Jo
It's the first part they show humanity and he does not. It's very striking change in his character. because the first time he was like, why are we doing a show when one of your colleagues just died?
00:07:13
Amelie
Yeah.
00:07:20
Jo
And it's just maybe it shows the Hollywood mentality of sinking into Barry, the character. and And I did like that a lot. And plus, you know, Detective Janice, she wasn't my favorite character.
00:07:36
Jo
So her dying in season one, I'm like, oh, thank fuck that's over with.
00:07:41
Jo
know? So what do we have after that? We got NoHoHank and he's with Christoph and the big ass book.
00:07:48
Amelie
Yes.
00:07:50
Amelie
And everything is going all right.
00:07:54
Jo
Yeah, he's typing out to Oh, and we did all this stuff and now we're friends. he does you know i'm I'm playing volleyball and they call me all this.
00:08:04
Jo
you know
00:08:04
Amelie
Yes.
00:08:06
Jo
And then ah meanwhile, Christoph is calling a meeting with God, the Burmese gang.
00:08:13
Amelie
Yes. So I want you to notice something about that series, about about this ah episode, is you have really funny episode.
00:08:14
Jo
And she's just this character.
00:08:20
Jo
Yeah.
00:08:22
Amelie
I really like this episode. It's funny. It's goofy. We learn a lot of information. There is a lot of character building, but it's well written. You can see there two colors.
00:08:35
Amelie
There is a bright color, white, yellowish, and the dark color, so black, brown,
00:08:40
Jo
Hmm.
00:08:43
Amelie
even little bit or orange. So when you follow the character Barry, it's dark. It's dark. When you follow Noho Hank, it's very bright, very white.
00:08:51
Jo
Yeah. Yeah.
00:08:57
Amelie
So you see a little bit color with Barry when he's like, yeah, we can do, you know, the play.
00:08:57
Jo
yeah
00:09:06
Amelie
The people act differently and we can see the difference between him, how he acts, compared to the actor. Then in the second scene, you see Noho Hank with all this this color blue, yellow, he's laying on his bed, he's tapping around, he's all with his friends, he talk about volleyball, it's really, really cool.
00:09:27
Jo
Yeah, he looks good.
00:09:30
Amelie
It's like a guy who just entered in a nine to five job and he's got a lot of friends who's at university, etc, etc.
00:09:30
Jo
Yeah.
00:09:36
Amelie
Then you have this meeting who is really, really funny and the color darken a little bit.
00:09:37
Jo
Yeah.
00:09:42
Amelie
So it's still goofy and funny because he's like, who is that? Why is she drinking from my mug? And they have a fox mug.
00:09:50
Amelie
And one of the, yeah, and the maia mafia chef explained his plan and I really like it. He said, when you look at the world and there is McDonald's, you never see a country who fight in war with another country who has a McDonald's.
00:09:50
Jo
Sitting in my chair.
00:10:09
Amelie
So we need... to implant small McDonald's in small mafia like this we can all work together because she with her army of people can have strength for us.
00:10:21
Amelie
Plus they're religious, right? So they can bring everything they want because it's religious and it's secret. So it's protected. data you did And I really like the plan personally. I think it's really, really smart.
00:10:36
Amelie
But no Hank with very jealous is up no no no no and no no no no I don't want to do you we very from nothing makes that I think that it now that we can walk all together and it's going to be great and we going to have a biggest trend above above and that's when she grabbed a hand she grabbed an iPhone is like yeah okay fine I know the thing you play between the entry bomb and and unlike yeah
00:10:39
Jo
Yeah. yeah
00:10:57
Jo
We've seen this one.
00:11:04
Amelie
and and no Hank
00:11:05
Jo
Yeah, and that's the thing, man.
00:11:06
Amelie
is shocked because she started on end.
00:11:11
Jo
And that's that. Well, we've seen the knife hand game from Alien. And we've done this. I mean, I've done this a thousand fucking times as a kid, man.
00:11:25
Jo
And it's funny because I've talked to Lance Hengerson couple years ago who plays Bishop in Alien who does it. da dot dotta that I'm like, you know how many tetanus shots I had to get because that fucking scene.
00:11:39
Jo
Because we would do it, da-da-da-da, we're drunk, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. And then quicker, quicker, cookerier quicker, quicker. No matter how well you can do it quickly, you can't do it quick enough for Alien. Because A, it's a fucking movie.
00:11:52
Jo
Let alone he's an android. But it's a fucking movie. And so you always end up stabbing yourself somewhere in the fucking hand. But so when Noho was like, we've seen this before. And she's like, bam, dead center of my life.
00:12:07
Jo
a whole new level of seriousness for that Burmese game, man. Yeah, it does bring it down and it goes, fuck, and this is where NoHo Hanks kind of like, the rest of his, he gets the bullet in the mail.
00:12:20
Jo
You know, all these things start happening after that meeting. he He hasn't read the book, like, The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman.
00:12:24
Amelie
Yes.
00:12:28
Jo
He hasn't read, like, it's a big book, he give me a lot of books, you So you see all this kind of going wrong slightly for Noel O'Hank. And then you see Barry at work selling clothing instead of killing people.
00:12:42
Amelie
Yeah.
00:12:43
Amelie
At Lululemon.
00:12:43
Jo
And he's got to fake a British accent.
00:12:45
Jo
Yeah. Yeah. He's like, And then who comes in? Noel O'Hank, dressed in like a really bad toupee, trying to buy women's panties or women's shorts.
00:12:58
Jo
and And Barry's like, no, those are women's.
00:13:02
Jo
and barry dresses down oh ho hank and this is where no ho hank comes in and just it's like he's always smiley remember we looked it up i think he's in his late 20s in the series he gets stressed down by barry and he takes that personal
00:13:12
Amelie
yeah
00:13:30
Amelie
Yes, but when you look at that scene, which is really interesting, that's really interesting because this little scene, it's really goofy because you see Barry,
00:13:30
Jo
he feels humility and he walks away and saying, yeah. Yeah.
00:13:42
Amelie
who tried to have the British i accent, and he looked ridiculous. And his friend was like, what are you doing?
00:13:47
Jo
Yeah.
00:13:47
Amelie
Like you didn't even know three weeks ago that lulu you were excited for working for Lululemon because you thought it was a candy store. And he was like, yeah, yeah, it's true, I remember.
00:13:57
Amelie
Yeah, so you need to take it seriously because I'm British, you not speak normally.
00:13:59
Jo
Yeah.
00:14:02
Amelie
Then you see Noah Hank with his ridiculous toupee and wearing purple, and he looked really funny. And Barry said, yeah, got the fuck out, I don't kill, na-na-na-na-na-na. The scene is still very colorful because of the closing, because of the light.
00:14:15
Jo
Yeah.
00:14:17
Amelie
So you see Noho Hank who enters the scene, the world of
00:14:20
Jo
Yeah.
00:14:24
Amelie
Barry, and it's a happy scene.
00:14:26
Jo
Barry.
00:14:28
Amelie
It's still goofy and everything, but it's a happy scene. But when he came back later in the episode, the scene is completely different, and we will talk about it once we talk about that scene.
00:14:34
Jo
Yeah.
00:14:40
Jo
Oh. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's an amazing turn for a Hank later in the episode. Because we always see the happy-go-lucky Hank. Later on, we see the fuck you Hank.
00:14:50
Amelie
and
00:14:54
Jo
And well-deserved, you know, if anything.
00:14:54
Amelie
yes and and
00:14:57
Amelie
yeah
00:14:58
Jo
Yeah.
00:14:59
Amelie
and it
00:15:01
Jo
Now, when we get to that scene, we'll explain more on it. And this is where, like... I believe Barry goes to Gene to try to get him into it.
00:15:12
Jo
And Gene's like, oh, bring me the box. Bring me the box. you know my
00:15:18
Amelie
No, he doesn't ask to bring the box.
00:15:19
Jo
but The mahogany box from my bedroom.
00:15:21
Amelie
e he first First, he said,
00:15:27
Amelie
no no, no, that's not what happened exactly.
00:15:30
Jo
No?
00:15:30
Amelie
He is on the sofa, he's laying on the sofa, and he said to Barry, because Barry arrived and there is a police, he's like, oh, I need to go, no, no, no, stay. They stopped the research, they're stopping the research. The policeman explained to Koussounou,
00:15:46
Amelie
We don't give up, but we know the Chechen took care of the moment she was in the car. She was dead. There's nothing we can do. We're not going to check on your home. Your home is not the place where she got killed, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:16:01
Amelie
The police leave. Barry asked Mr. Kusuno when he comes back to the theater, to the the school, because they need to do the school stuff.
00:16:10
Jo
Right.
00:16:13
Amelie
And this is send fantastic play from that actor. He's like, no drama, no screaming, no crying, no nothing.
00:16:21
Jo
Fantastic scene, yes.
00:16:26
Amelie
Barry, under my bed, there is a box in bidi-bidi-didi wood. And inside that box, there is a gun offered by my former roommate when I was doing that.
00:16:42
Amelie
Do you know how many times I considered using that gun to kick the chair or to give her a last kiss? So, fuck off, Barry.
00:16:54
Jo
You want to kiss a gun, Mr.
00:16:54
Amelie
Like, I really like how he talks about suicide.
00:16:55
Jo
Kusnow?
00:16:58
Amelie
It's not, oh, I'm going to jump or you don't, you see what I mean? It's Just dude, I'm exhausted.
00:17:04
Jo
Yeah.
00:17:06
Amelie
And I like that. And when I watched that scene the first time, knowing that character is normally goofy, you know, we were talking for the first season, we didn't like the duo between the police woman and Mr.
00:17:17
Jo
Yeah.
00:17:20
Amelie
Kusuno, and he was like a clan and stuff. But there you can see a more realistic Mr. Kusuno. They're stopping...
00:17:29
Jo
Sort of.
00:17:29
Amelie
You come, you arrive, they're stopping the research, they're stopping the research, they're giving up, they're giving up. And the policeman is like, no, we're not giving up, it's just your place, it's not, no, no, no, no.
00:17:40
Amelie
Then Barry comes and he doesn't understand jack shit. He's like, why you want to kiss again? What do you want to kiss again? He doesn't understand, he wants to commit suicide. And then he's like, Barry, don't you understand what I mean?
00:17:51
Jo
yeah
00:17:53
Amelie
Aren't you familiar to the rhythm of harakiri? The baseball man? ah baseball Japanese baseball player? yeah, who knows the baseball player?
00:18:03
Amelie
So he doesn't understand. He's just in his head like a kid. like And he's like, i'll just leave me alone.
00:18:03
Jo
yeah
00:18:09
Jo
We had no...
00:18:09
Amelie
Just get out of my house.
00:18:13
Jo
Yeah, Barry's had no pop culture. and and but That's one of the things that pops into it. And yeah, you're right. This scene happens before the no whole Hank going to Lululemon.
00:18:23
Jo
But one of the things that kind of brings it all home for is Barry is really trying to get this. And yes, there is a gun in that box, but we'll get into that a little bit later, especially when you find out what kind of gun it really is.
00:18:39
Jo
So you you have this and then the che and and the no whole Hank comes in a little lemon. And then finally, when things are going insane, Barry's about to put on the play. He's like, come on, guys, let's just get this done. And the play's about to go on.
00:18:53
Jo
Gene comes on. And I'm oh, my God, who's here? Gene's here. Gene's here. Gene's here. And he cancels the play. He cancels the play saying, sorry, i can't do this.
00:19:05
Jo
is I have not seen them perform. I haven't seen them. you know it's not I wouldn't feel good. No refunds. No refunds. But if you want like a book, I'll give you a book in lieu of this or a ticket for later on.
00:19:19
Jo
So he canceled that, and he wants to cancel the class too. just want He wants to be done with everything. And that is very, that does hit. like When you are just done with everything, you don't want to go on. You just don't want to do things that used to be fun no more.
00:19:36
Jo
you're You're just done. Put a fork in you're done. And what happens is Barry tried us to coax Gene into like, well, you know, you helped us out with our emotions. Why don't you talk about it with yours?
00:19:58
Jo
Now, there's there's one thing I will mention. I'll mention. And your microphone instead, by the way. That's what I'm mentioning right now. oh it's back.
00:20:10
Jo
Okay, there you go.
00:20:11
Amelie
Yes.
00:20:12
Jo
Other than your microphone died for a half second.
00:20:14
Amelie
Yes, yes. No, no, I know.
00:20:15
Jo
It's this scene.
00:20:16
Amelie
I know, I know, I know.
00:20:17
Jo
Yep. This scene sets up everything else for this season. Where Barry has to finally break down and process what happens in Afghanistan.
00:20:26
Amelie
Yes.
00:20:31
Jo
But he still lies about it.
00:20:33
Amelie
Yes.
00:20:35
Jo
And the two actors come on stage and start, you know, doing this.
00:20:35
Amelie
Well, no, he doesn't lie about it. I disagree. I disagree.
00:20:39
Amelie
I disagree with you. It's not a lie about it.
00:20:39
Jo
Well, he fucking lies about it.
00:20:41
Jo
He does.
00:20:41
Amelie
It's because there's two dumby dumbass who try to play him and he tells the truth. He's like, I was in Afghanistan and this is my first kill and badadim, badada.
00:20:53
Amelie
He tells the truth. It's just, you can see the guy is reliving the situation. because he's standing looking at Mr. Kusuno, but he doesn't look at Mr. Kusuno.
00:21:06
Amelie
His eyes is blurry, you know, there's a glaze and he's just in Afghanistan thinking about all his friends sharing him and everything.
00:21:11
Jo
Yeah.
00:21:15
Amelie
We, as a spectator, understood, understand why kills because at the first time he's applauded celebrated by people because he's a good killer.
00:21:26
Amelie
However, He doesn't describe saying, oh, yes, I cried. He didn't say that. he was like He's like petrified and telling his story.
00:21:37
Jo
yeah
00:21:37
Amelie
And then you have two actors who have never been to Afghanistan, never been to war, who just think about Hollywood. When, for example, he fakes...
00:21:50
Amelie
shots he's like oh my shoulder oh i forget and then and you know no no no he didn't forget he know how to keep i mean to shoot he's trained you know blah blah blah it's just like it's barry is like i'm telling something with personal my first kill but he doesn't say the oh i cried it's just mr christineau looking at it like is this what happened and he's like yes that's
00:22:01
Jo
right
00:22:18
Amelie
what happened I kill the first person there said's so
00:22:19
Jo
And that's a lie. That's what I'm saying. He's lying. He's lying. Because they're crying on stage. theyre They're crying on stage or acting in something else. Where is it? He wasn't crying. He was laughing. He was cheering with him, with his friends about killing the person.
00:22:36
Jo
That's the lie. And he has to tell that lie because if he says, yeah, I was cheering, he sounds like a psychopath.
00:22:37
Amelie
yes okay yeah no we didn't yet it didn't but but
00:22:44
Jo
So that's what he purposely lies.
00:22:49
Amelie
I don't it's not a lie in the sense of Do you think it's a lie like it's not just Yes, but like what I did I tell you yes it it it happened like the two down the ding ding dong go play I
00:22:55
Jo
Did this happen? Yes, it happened. That's a lie.
00:23:04
Jo
Was it happening like this? Did it happen like this? Were you crying? That was the implication. Were you crying?
00:23:12
Amelie
i Agree to disagree. Yes, he lied, but it's not a lie.
00:23:16
Jo
I disagree to agree?
00:23:17
Amelie
Like he said, yes, I cry. I agree to disagree. I agree to disagree.
00:23:22
Jo
I disagree to agree. See, I'm disagreeing with that, but I'm agreeing.
00:23:25
Amelie
agree, but disagree. Yala.
00:23:28
Jo
I'm disagreeing with agreeing.
00:23:30
Amelie
but they disagree yeah
00:23:32
Jo
Well, i'm okay.
00:23:33
Amelie
yeah
00:23:34
Jo
This is what it is, man. If you are doing a honesty exercise and Gene is asking you to be honest about your emotions and you're breaking this down, the first killing of Afghanistan, you're breaking it all down and it's supposed to be an honest reveal of your character.
00:23:50
Jo
And you're like, and they're crying and you were laughing. And Gene's like, this how it went. Is this exactly how it went? And you're like, yeah, you're lying. And Barry knows he's lying because that's the lie that he he keeps throughout the rest of the season.
00:24:06
Jo
I mean, next episode, not to spoil it too much, he asks Noho Hank if he's an evil person.
00:24:06
Amelie
Yeah, but in that situation...
00:24:12
Amelie
Yes, yes, and Norohanck replied to him, of course you are, I don't stop to repeat
00:24:13
Jo
That's next episode. He starts out with asking Noho Hank, our am I an evil person?
00:24:21
Jo
You're the most evil person. Yeah. Yeah. But that's what saying. That's where the lie comes from.
00:24:27
Amelie
and
00:24:27
Jo
Because if he had remorse, he's not feeling remorse for killing.
00:24:32
Amelie
But in that situation, he open up and explain his first kill, which is something very personal. It's not a trauma, but it's personal. Like it's not something you you describe every day, right?
00:24:51
Amelie
And he's on this scene and he tells about Afghanistan and stuff like that in the distress because he really liked that school.
00:24:51
Jo
Yeah.
00:24:58
Amelie
And the two other people are like overdoing it and everything. He didn't ever say He cried. He just, Is this what happened? Yeah, sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:25:07
Jo
Right.
00:25:08
Amelie
But...
00:25:11
Jo
He doesn't say he cries, but the implication is, this how it happened?
00:25:12
Amelie
I don't know. but i Yeah.
00:25:17
Amelie
Is it a white lie? Is it considered as a white lie? Like, I tell you, are just...
00:25:22
Jo
No, it's a major fucking lie.
00:25:23
Amelie
like I don't know.
00:25:24
Amelie
like it Is this a white lie? It's a great situation.
00:25:24
Jo
It's a major fucking lie because it...
00:25:29
Jo
This is what the entire season hinges on. Him lying about it.
00:25:33
Amelie
Mm-hmm.
00:25:34
Jo
Because he's trying to make himself look better than he is.
00:25:35
Amelie
Yeah.
00:25:38
Jo
and Instead of accepting who he is.
00:25:39
Amelie
Yeah. Yeah.
00:25:42
Jo
That's what think. Either way, and it does kind of get funner next episode.
00:25:45
Amelie
but usf hosh anyway
00:25:49
Jo
Yeah. So it does convince Gene to continue in the class. So mission accomplished by Barry, right? Mission accomplished by Barry. Gene does continue the class.
00:26:04
Jo
And then Sally's like, oh my God, you're so brave. You finally, you know, loosened up. If you ever want to talk about this, I'm here for you. Not right now. Later. No, not tonight. ah Okay, tomorrow morning will be bad for me too.
00:26:17
Jo
She's back to Sally.
00:26:20
Amelie
Oh, yeah, I was so disappointed.
00:26:21
Jo
You know
00:26:22
Amelie
so do you want to go and have a drink with me? Oh, no, I'm sorry. I need to have a drink with my agent.
00:26:27
Jo
know?
00:26:28
Amelie
And then and the next morning I will be, oh, no, no, no.
00:26:29
Jo
My agent, there, yeah.
00:26:30
Amelie
I've got my yoga. So maybe before midday, wait midday. But after, I promise you, I will be there for you. And he's like asking her, but you would be there for me. Yeah, I would be there for you. I will be there for you.
00:26:42
Amelie
So we're like, girl, no. Like, I'm sure you can make time. Like, definitely.
00:26:49
Jo
Yeah.
00:26:50
Amelie
Especially when I saw that I thought about Barry who kills the Mexican guy and just drive his car, you know in season one to to see her.
00:26:52
Jo
But she doesn't.
00:26:59
Amelie
Yeah.
00:27:03
Jo
Yeah. Because she needed him. He's always there for her. When he needs her at all, still not there for him. Even though now they are a couple, I believe.
00:27:12
Amelie
and so
00:27:15
Jo
Yeah.
00:27:15
Amelie
Yes, say yeah they are.
00:27:16
Amelie
They're officially boyfriend and girlfriend.
00:27:17
Jo
And then...
00:27:20
Jo
yeah no No laptops needed. So you see this aspect of it. And the next thing you see a very, we alluded to this before, a very nice side of NoHo Hank coming in saying, listen, I didn't think maybe misunderstood me. I wasn't asking you to do this. I was telling you to do it.
00:27:42
Jo
I'm the boss. You never talk to me that way again.
00:27:45
Amelie
Yes, yes.
00:27:46
Jo
And that's the first time we see NoHo Hank act serious.
00:27:46
Amelie
And that's an interesting scene because it's dark. It's beautifully filmed because it's really, really dark.
00:27:51
Jo
Yeah.
00:27:56
Amelie
The parking is really dark.
00:27:56
Jo
yeah
00:27:57
Amelie
There is no light, no, no thing. You can see Noah wearing dark clothes. And Barry comes and he enters the world of Barry and he's like, no, no, ill do no, dude, no, no, no.
00:28:10
Amelie
You're in my world now. I'm the one who allow you to be alive right I always told you and be kind with you and everything it's not me who ask it's you me who demand you to kill any face the actor's face is not smiling and googling and stuff is like really rigid and looking at him with big eyes like no no you don't for the first time i can see the killer for the first time I can see
00:28:30
Jo
Yeah.
00:28:37
Jo
Yeah.
00:28:37
Amelie
No, Hank, as a killer.
00:28:37
Jo
That's
00:28:39
Amelie
Like, I wouldn't fuck with him.
00:28:40
Jo
actually whole thing.
00:28:41
Amelie
And that's...
00:28:43
Jo
Yeah.
00:28:43
Amelie
Yes. And it's really interesting because when I saw that scene, it reminds me of friendship. Like, when you have this friend who also always helps everyone, and one day when you need help, nobody's there.
00:28:58
Amelie
Or, hey, I was there when you needed to move house. I was there when your girlfriend broke up with you. i was there when you needed money. and was there when you needed a job.
00:29:05
Jo
yeah
00:29:06
Amelie
Blah, blah, blah, blah. Can you do me a favor? Could you help me, please, in such and such situations? Like, I'm really fucked. And that person doesn't help you. And you're like, no, no, you're going to help me because...
00:29:17
Jo
Not only doesn't help you, but like dresses you down. Yeah.
00:29:22
Amelie
Yeah. Like, you said I was stupid, I'm not stupid. The play of the actor, le jeu de l'acteur, you told me to fuck off...
00:29:33
Amelie
Okay, but you said i was stupid. I am not stupid. And the way he said his line and his face and the car park and the, I know where you are, I know who you are, like, come on.
00:29:43
Jo
Yeah. Right.
00:29:46
Amelie
And I agree with Noah Hank. Like, I really agree with Noah Hank.
00:29:53
Amelie
And that's when we can see Barry is very selfish. I like Barry. He's a good guy. He's maybe a victim in some sense. but you can take two steps back and be like, hey, that guy is a mafia guy.
00:30:03
Jo
right
00:30:07
Amelie
He kills. He kills. There's two kinds of same race. He's asking for a favor because he's like, hey, my life is in danger and I don't like that person. Can you give me hand?
00:30:18
Amelie
I didn't say to everyone, you killed my friends and part of my family, so you owe me good.
00:30:24
Jo
it's,
00:30:25
Amelie
You know what I mean? And there is so many times we had friends. So many times we had situations where the help is not given back and the person in the situation, I'm telling you, that scene, just a few seconds, maybe 10 seconds, right?
00:30:45
Amelie
It's really beautiful. Like it's really no need to get gun, no need to get knife, no need to get knife.
00:30:49
Jo
but it's
00:30:52
Amelie
It's just like that, his eyes, his face,
00:30:54
Jo
Yeah,
00:30:57
Amelie
it's a that's mafia. That's serious shit.
00:31:04
Jo
yeah Anthony Kerrigan, who plays No Whole Hand, does an amazing job right there. But I will say, from Barry's point of view, it was a Barry's a contractor.
00:31:15
Jo
He's a freelancer. And someone that you came and did freelance work for came to your new workplace saying, you must do this.
00:31:23
Amelie
Thank you.
00:31:24
Jo
and kind of messing up your new work, of course you're to fuck off. Of course you are.
00:31:33
Jo
And no i mean Barry could have said it nicer, a lot nicer, but Barry doesn't owe Noah Hohank anything.
00:31:46
Jo
Noah Hohank thinks Barry owes him something because Noah Hohank did say, this is where Fuchs is, they're coming after you, did give Barry heads up. same time, a lot of these things happened because of what NoHo Hanks and Fuchs were doing.
00:32:01
Jo
Mostly Fuchs and Hank's boss were trying to get involved with.
