Introduction and Initial Opinions

00:00:04
Speaker
It is. The Fantasy Europeans. My name is Jared Dyke. I wanted to say it's stupid and let's move on, but then you kept going. I'm Ben Glauser. I don't like any way anybody handled that. Collusion. Collusion.
00:00:27
Speaker
Hey,

Fantasy League Performance Discussion

00:00:28
Speaker
everybody. Welcome back. It is the fancy rugby. Thanks. My name is Jared Dyke. I'm Ben Glauser. It's fancy corner time. Lots to talk about. Lots to go over. Lots of people doing poorly. Oh, wait, that was just me. Sorry. You did all right. You're still up there. Stumbled. Good Lord. Oh, I didn't check to see. Oh, no, I got to check how how your better half did. I think she did pretty well. But she did. She probably did better than I did. I did. I did.
00:00:59
Speaker
The word I'm thinking of is poo. She dropped two. She had 161 though. Not bad. Better than me. Better than me. Yeah. So checking in on our Champions League. Ben has now claimed the top. George had a nice jump after having the top score of the week.
00:01:16
Speaker
Um, Stu jumped over myself as well. So that's the top three. I'm four Duncan jumped to spot and that's that makes him five Justin tumbled more than I did. So he's six. And then go with some marker, just kind of hanging out down there, join each other's company. You know, it's nice. I think, uh, speaking of, uh, of your better half, I think she's creeping up on, uh, on Cobas now. Yeah.
00:01:45
Speaker
So there he is, he dropped a spot. Oof. 145, yeah. Well then. Yeah, that was a rough one. Well then.

Standings and Rankings Analysis

00:01:55
Speaker
Yeah, oopsie. All right, so then let's go to division two. Anton, Paul, and Matt are the top three, and then we have Franco, Alex, Luke, and then Avery holding it up at the bottom there.
00:02:15
Speaker
Do to do well then. Okay. Yeah. And then like you said, Catherine's creeping up down there. Yeah, I'm still, I'm still fourth in the US. I'm not too worried about Joe and that. That was a bad week for me too. So that's where I go. Then as far as I go after a bad week, all right, just don't make it two in a row.
00:02:37
Speaker
Yeah. I'm up at 109 overall. That makes me happy. There you go. Yeah, I stumbled out of the top 100. Same with him. Yeah. I plummeted out of the top 100. Where are you? 200-something. Oh, wow, really? Yeah, in the world. Yeah. Yeah, damn. Yup, plummeted. Yeah, I dropped the 40. I didn't drop. I went the other way, up 45. There you go. That's a good jump.
00:03:07
Speaker
Um, Oh yeah, this, this is the opening weekend. We're going to talk about the scores for our PWR fantasy. So we have 10 people that are taking part, including you and me. So that's still pretty good though.
00:03:25
Speaker
Our, our, our friend that refers to themselves as PWR ninjas leads the way with 73. Let me find their team.

Metrics and Individual Player Performances

00:03:34
Speaker
Their team was the goodie, Sophie to goodie, Abby Dow and Holly Acheson. Um,
00:03:42
Speaker
Not too bad. So the stats we got, and hopefully we can get some better ones soon. But for now, the stats we got, we couldn't get Tri-Assist, so we have minutes played in there just as a kind of a filler almost. There's no missed tackle, so there's nobody going to be minusing tackles. That's good. Okay, there you go.
00:04:00
Speaker
Um, and we couldn't get 50 22s. I'm hoping maybe we can get some like line breaks or something like that. And then maybe we can get an overall kick meters and we can add like a 0.001 to that for kicker. So we can maybe get them more involved in it. Um, yeah, I'll see if I can reach out and get some more, get some better stats on that. But for now, that's what we got. Um,
00:04:21
Speaker
Yeah, the goodie led the way with the scoring. She had 56, two tries, 105 meters, handful of, a bunch of tackles too. Like she was one of the top defenders in the league last week. So yep, that was a good one.
00:04:34
Speaker
And the couple of people that picked Cleo Maloney, well done. She was right there as well. I sorted them out. Here we go. So your girl, Gregson, had the second most. She had 32. Cleo Maloney and then Miller Mills, also yours. That's why you're sitting, too. And then Just Breach. Because I got nothing from Emily Scott. She was not the kicker. No.
00:04:59
Speaker
Um, yeah, 59 points from just basically from two players. I'll take it. Yeah. Yeah. So PWR ninjas, Ben and our good friend, George are the top three followed by Julia. We got the colors, right? Joe, the wolf pack 35, uh, James Ryan, myself, Matt, and, um, Duncan.
00:05:20
Speaker
Duncan had a tough week. He picked, he picked, I think he picked someone with negative and then, oh, not negative, so. Poppy Cleeled it and Acheson. Yeah, Cleeled it okay, her card killed him. That is not helpful at all. But yeah, he picked Acheson as the back. So clarifying question from Duncan, which was helpful. So this is, I'll give you the plug here, buddy. You can pick a kicker separately as a back.
00:05:48
Speaker
Yes. So he picked Aegison as his back, not as his kicker. Right. So he can still use that. So just to clarify. Yep. And any other clearing up, let me know. So yeah, I'll post these tomorrow on the free part of Patreon.

Strategy and Analytics Insights

00:06:05
Speaker
And in the meantime,
00:06:07
Speaker
I'm so I'm debating. I may put up my speaking of Patreon. I put up our sheet or analytics sheet. I did find something wrong. Sorry. With the the average point, the average position rating. I found a bug in it. I will work to fit as one does. Yeah. Apparently, it's when I went to add new players. Didn't like that. And I figured out where the link was broken. So now I got to sort out a different way to do it.
00:06:38
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, well. It was working perfectly until I had to go and change something. That's always disgusting. Ain't that a bitch? Oh, okay. Yeah, this guy who... The guy we're talking about, Elliot, for Newcastle, I added him. And all of a sudden, he had a position ranking. I'm like, I haven't even put any points in. I went and looked and I was like, oh, it was looking at somebody else. I see what happened.
00:07:04
Speaker
Nope. Can't do it that way. Apparently not. Um, all right. So we got picks to make for this weekend in the women's premiership. Um, I'll fuck. I'll go first. Mine's easy. Uh, I'm going to go for my forwards. I'm going to go with the best player in the world right now. Molly Packer. Oh, my backs. I'm going to go with Mia Venner from Gloucester,
00:07:34
Speaker
they're playing a team that leaked a lot of meters and that's what I'm hoping on. Don't care if she gets over, if she gets a load of meters, it's fine. And then I'm going to give Lenny to him with a tee for me, from Clint. Not bad. Yeah. I'm going with the, I'm sorry, the actual best player in the world, Sofity Goody. Let's move forward.
00:07:56
Speaker
And I'm going with Rachel Burford who she like second and carries. And as you said, she's going to face a team that's going to be leaking defensively. So if she's going to be featured in attack, this is to me a good week to
00:08:17
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. Yeah. Yeah, no argument. It's where you can't say the things that you normally say like it's good. We can just tap Rachel. No, no, no, no, no, don't do that. Don't do that. It's not nice. Yeah. Not appropriate. No, and you can't to grab her. No, you can't do that either. No, select. I grab her and give her a hug. That's what I do. Right. That's what I do. Not anything else.
00:08:41
Speaker
Just funny how so much of our fantasy parlance has to change in these conditions. Anyway, and then my kicker for now, I assume it's like, again, I'm going back to the Allianz Cup and making assumptions here. And if I get a zero again for my kicker, fuck it. Like we said, we reserve the right to... Right. Elizabeth Golden. Okay. Yeah.
00:09:03
Speaker
Yeah, we were reserved the right to change minds once we get to line up time. Yeah, try to pull Sophie to goody from my team. We'll see what happens. But yeah, unless she's not playing, that's why we were deserved that right. Right. Yeah. No, I panicked when Rachel Johnson wasn't playing last week and I just picked Leech. Like, no, I should have gone with like one of the five other fucking Exeter forwards and most of which would have done fine, but we just didn't do shit. So, say lovey. Lesson learned.

Team Analysis and Match Predictions

00:09:33
Speaker
Right. Uh, we gotta do the start set thing. I think you're knocking it up first. I believe I am. Uh, Franklin's garden with saints hosting quins. Um, since they're down to two and two, the second in attack, second in defense. Um, but still high up there. I think it's more that saris surpassed them. Um, we're having recovered from that.
00:09:56
Speaker
week one that didn't happen. Week one that wish we didn't happen. Right. Week zero. It was week zero. Week one was the next week. Queens are fourth in attack and seventh in defense. Jared and I, having gone to the flip of this fixture at the stoop last year, we know what this kind of game can be.
00:10:20
Speaker
So when there's like rugby by Agra is how I feel about it Should only last about 80 minutes guys, so you're not you know Oddly enough so the Saints whoever's at hook you're good only not the Saints at tight head They're they're they're second in scoring from tight head position
00:10:48
Speaker
Ah, who knew? Weird. The locks, obviously. They've been excellent, and they're a very good matchup in this because I think Quinn's are seventh against the locks. That sounds right. Pearson, yes. Love them. Yeah, you could do worse than either Mitchell or James. Finn Smith is nearing must-start territory at this point, especially for his cost.
00:11:13
Speaker
Yeah. He's just putting up the points. I'd say leave the centers alone. So here's knowledge for you.
00:11:20
Speaker
Across six games, 11 starts. Again, Freeman was an outside back playing center and actually he did well. What do you know? But for the centers themselves, 11 starts and only three games over 10 points combined from all of their centers, fantasy wise. So, yeah. Freeman needs to be on your team, speaking of. And then Ram has been playing extremely well last week aside.
00:11:47
Speaker
for the harlequins, leave the front row alone, lamb, kenning him. So I was looking at this, and the quins are, they're,
00:11:57
Speaker
Well, loose forwards have been incredibly productive. But then I look and it's really only Kenningham and Dom Brant who are scoring. And I'm like, what the hell? That doesn't make any sense. And then I remember that Dino Lamb listed as a lock has been playing a lot of sex. He's been doing it extremely well. He's the Stefan Luvis of a couple of years ago. It's just hard that because the roster limitations, you can't really, you know, you can have maybe two forwards, two backs. I would go Lamb and Dom myself.
00:12:28
Speaker
The nines are, I'd leave them alone because of the roster limitations. They don't, they're not scoring all that great. And you can focus then on some of the other backs, as they said. So like Smith and Andre would be the guys, um, Hey, look at what I wrote down. I would love to see Will Joseph started for beard, but I still wouldn't play either. And then either greener lineup. Yeah. So like four from those should be in your lineup for the, for the Harlequins. Yeah, for sure.
00:12:56
Speaker
All right, so let's go to AJ Bell, Salem Bath. Should be interesting. These are probably two teams that are going to be hanging out around top four territory for most of the year, I would guess. I would guess. So let's start with the Sharks. Going off guys that are highly owned, yeah, so forth.
00:13:22
Speaker
LCD's highly owned, but Creepy's been starting, and I think Creepy's a better player at the moment anyway. LCD's still trying to figure out, how do I play this rugby thing again? Because he's been hurt, so, yeah. He'll know that's not a new thing. DDP is a yes. Ben Curry's gonna be a sit this week, although I'm sure I wouldn't be surprised if he does well, but just, eh, I got a feeling. War, no. RDP owned, Robert Brea only if he's wearing the 10th shirt of Fords in there.
00:13:48
Speaker
He's not going to get handed an intercept try again. The odds are low, so just meh. Bedlow, only if he's at 13 and he's been bumped out there. If he's at 12, nope. Sam James, same. I probably wouldn't play him either way.
00:14:03
Speaker
The wings have been a little bit dicey against Bath. There's one that's great. There's one that's bad. I'm going to go with Reed being the good one and Roebuck being the bad one. So there's that. For the fellas from Bath, Obama's back to no. So, Obama no. Dutoy, yes. Dunn, yes. Yules, no. Underhill and Barbary are both okay to start this week, though. I had temporary expectations.
00:14:28
Speaker
Spencer's going to be a sit sailor Dix tonight. So he's a set, uh, Finn. Yes. Can't, can't sit a red path as a, no, he's, he's in a position. That's not going to be having a lot of fun against sale. If there's one team at the pair at 12 defending the bath, it's sale. So no good for him. Lawrence is an auto start. So, uh, I'm going to go with mirror bouncing back and then sick Koka. Cool.
00:14:57
Speaker
Off to King's home, Gloucester hosting Leicester. Gloucester are fifth in attack, third in defense. Leicester are 11th in attack and eighth in defense. Leicester are solid against the front row and lock, which
00:15:14
Speaker
it's going to be very much put to the test in this match. There are six versus centers, which probably won't be put to the test much. And then they're below average everywhere else. So I'd still start whoever's at hook any of the locks. So back to that, that stat from the Saints centers, the Gloucester locks have started to have made 12 total starts. Eight of them are over 10 and only one under five.
00:15:41
Speaker
So don't care who it is, yes. Mercer's their only loose forward worth starting. Avoid the nines completely. Barton is actually a, so Barton's like four million, I think, or four, well, four, whatever. It doesn't really matter. They're not really a million. Sounds right.
00:16:00
Speaker
He gets you 10 points every week, every week. So if you really want to go light here, still get your 10, and then really spend those resources elsewhere, it's a thought. Because you know you're going to get 10. Some guys are going to get 9 or 8, and sometimes you get 20 out of them. But Martin will get you 10, and it'll cost you half as much, just a thought. A smarter person than myself would have to make hay with that, but it could be done.
00:16:31
Speaker
Um, the centers have one score over 12 all year. So again, meh, no, meh. Um, Thorley and, and Lewis re-Semitism where it's at. I need to see it from Santi. He's been poop since honestly, a little bit before the world cup. It's been, he's been mediocre at every, every level. So I need more for Lester. Um, they only have seven players averaging over 10 points. Uh, two of the fly halves Pollard and shellcock. So they're not playing both of them. Um, Stewart is up there too.
00:16:59
Speaker
The rest are four loose forwards. Hatherill, who's only had one start, Leibenberg, Rafael, and Visa, who's only had two starts as well. Obviously, a lot of those guys are going to keep going, but you're really looking at their fly half, and maybe Visa starts really coming good.
00:17:18
Speaker
Yeah, I would say it's probably him, especially against a fairly light team here. Yeah. I say light, but like a team they can pick off probably. Right. Especially if, um, so that, that I think if Mercer is playing, that will increase visa's points, but I'd still rather have Mercer. Yeah. True. Just slightly better player. Yeah.
00:17:44
Speaker
Slowly more productive and if Mercer's not playing then visa. I don't think he'll be Used as much. I think that will actually lower his his production
00:17:55
Speaker
Maybe. Oddly enough. Yeah, maybe. Because they can spread the ball around to others. Yeah, true. All right. Back to North London. Sarri's in Bristol. This could be fun. Maybe not for Bristol. We'll see. Sarri's, Mako, yes. Either Jank's or Thio Dan is a yes.
00:18:20
Speaker
It tells you where you seek where the two best locks to have so that and they're both goes. Willis and Christie are the best back rows right now with a world for a little bit and they're both thumbs ups. Vince ale. Yes, good is the only one I'm kind of hesitant to play in terms of the highly owned Saracens players.
00:18:39
Speaker
for the bears. Gens and Thacker. Yes, especially if Thacker's playing seven. That's a go. Batley, Randall, Sheedy. I am very, very sketch on like, nah, stay away. Sheedy might be okay, but we'll see. I feel like Vaka Tal is going to finally find space because of the track. So I would give him a start. But like we said, they still don't know how to use Benard. So he's a no.
00:19:06
Speaker
right now. Um, it was way starting to figuring out again, which is good. Um, but Richard Lane is my favorite back three player, um, besides max, but, uh, I, max also needs to start and, you know, finish a damn game first. So that's basically what I'm waiting on with that one.
00:19:26
Speaker
Alright, and then to the tune, Newcastle Exeter. Newcastle are 10th in attack, 10th in defense. Look, can't get worse than that. Exeter are 3rd in attack, 6th in defense. And I think Exeter are going to struggle here. It's a long trip for him.
00:19:45
Speaker
Exeter have kind of been found out and Newcastle are are they they showed last week that they can step up and deliver a punch and we'll see if Exeter can can counter punch on the road. They have some some young guns who, you know, been firing, but have also been misfiring. But for Newcastle, there's really not much to look at. Radwan Carreras comes too expensive for that Barton strategy. He's five. He's five units more than Barton.
00:20:13
Speaker
Doesn't know it's not worth it. Exeter, as they've been clearly found out, it's getting harder for them to rely on. Hey, that's weird. I wasn't even reading from that. But there it is. The same basically the same thing is exactly as what I was saying. Slade's only valuable with the K. So makes it tricky. Yeah. To him, he's had one great game in several solid games. He roots in Fizzlot. They're all they're all two units.
00:20:39
Speaker
Um, and they're all getting you about 10 points. They're getting the eight to 11 points. They won't kill you with them when you're the week, but you've spent two points that, you know, two units there rather than five or six. Yeah. And you could do really well. So, so those, those are definitely options, especially in this game. They could, they could go off, um, against this new castle, um, quote defense. Um,

Upcoming Matches and Final Recommendations

00:21:04
Speaker
Wyatt seems to go a game on and a game off. And he just went on. He just went, like, he had 17 points or whatever. So he's on track to go. And Faye Woboso seemed to have been found out. I'm cutting that guy this week. Yeah, time to adjust, kid. And you haven't adjusted to at least. And he'll take him a little bit. But he showed what he can do. And now everybody's wise to it. He's not going to surprise anybody anymore. Right. Now you've got to do more.
00:21:33
Speaker
Although I think Exeter had to do a better job of getting the ball more. That's kind of the problem. They haven't really been feeding him enough. No, I totally agree with that. They need to help the poor fella out.
00:21:56
Speaker
After last week's performance, I'm feeling like he's figuring out this thing called Premiership Rugby. And despite his card, he's still fucking lit it up. And he's got to play a team that has to run at points. He's back at home. And they've actually surrendered play points to the position he's been playing lately, which is sick. So my start of the week is going to be Gloucester's Jack Clement. Not bad.
00:22:21
Speaker
My start of the week, I mentioned him, actually I mentioned both my start and sit already. Kind of in that role, so Finn Smith, my start of the week. Hey-oh. Hey-oh. He's been one of the best scoring 10s in the prem, so. Yep, should do well. So, my sit. Yeah, sorry bud. So, my sit.
00:22:51
Speaker
Uh, if assuming he's playing, uh, cause he did come off injured, but my sit, he's just been not great since. Um, and obviously since change it, but his, his play has mirrored his team's play, unfortunately. And he's going against a really tough opponent. And, um, a couple of guys that have had really good games, uh, for the series, my city of the week's going to be Magnus Bradbury. Yeah.
00:23:17
Speaker
Um, my city of the week is the guy who I'm cutting, um, manual failure. Yeah, fair. Fair enough. Get sad. Blame you on that one. Yeah, it's time. Yeah, that's my, I'm out on him. It's not, it's a, you know, gotta see it. And there's plenty of other options out there for cheap backs, back threes. So not helpful, not a bargain anymore. Now you're just kind of playing to your level. Yeah, it's too bad.
00:23:50
Speaker
All right. Pick them. I have some interesting things this week. How are we doing? What's the, what's the split? I'm at three. Okay. Uh, St. Quinn's. Harlequin's. Yeah. Sail bath. I have bath. Yeah. I,
00:24:11
Speaker
I want to believe that they're ready to turn, to be there. And, but they still, they balled that game against Lester, which was annoying. And that to me, it was just enough to make me think, are they not quite there yet? It's, it's Finn versus Ford. And I honestly, I like thin in that matchup to me. Yeah. I mean, ultimately that's the difference. If Bobby dupes was at 10, that's the scary thing. If Bobby dupes was at 10, I might think of it differently, but I think it's going to be forward. Um,
00:24:40
Speaker
Yep. Um, cluster luster, cluster. They need it more. I know at home, but
00:24:51
Speaker
That's really, there's going to be more of last week for the Tigers. I think they'll, they, they won't necessarily know what they're doing, but they'll figure out a way to get over the line. You know what I mean? Yeah. And I think Gloucester, I mean, Gloucester got over the line enough. It was just that it was that, that ending. And I think being at home versus on the road will help a lot with those things. I think that's it. I think Lester got a couple of breaks cause they were at home. I think Gloucester didn't cause they were on the road and I think that just flips because I, again, I don't think I would, Lester weren't impressive to me. Um,
00:25:22
Speaker
Gloucester, I think, are working towards that direction. It just was a shit result for him. Yep. Sarris Bristol. Sarris. Sarris, yep. Newcastle Exeter. This is kind of a freebie for Pat Lamb. Nobody can expect him to win this, so. No. You get a chance to just do something and see what happens. But this is, so this is a bigger week for Skivington is, I guess, where I'm going with that. Yeah, also that. Up to the tune of Newcastle and Exeter. I'm going with the hosts.
00:25:51
Speaker
You're going with the host right? Why don't I go with Exeter? Because it may be ugly, because that's what happens when you go up to the team more often than not. But I don't know how they get done. Yeah, I just think that, again, if Newcastle will just throw, because, again, Exeter's defense is still not that impressive. If you just kind of throw shit at them, they'll
00:26:13
Speaker
they'll lose it. They're used to, yeah, if you just run, um, phase ball, crash play after crash play at them, they'll, they'll, they'll be all right. But I think at least the intent that Newcastle showed this past week, uh, they do that again. They'll win. Yeah. That's kind of where the caveats coming from is that play like that. You'll win this game. Yeah. We'll see if they do it. Unfortunately, I think they'll turn and tighten up. Okay. Don't know the Ken. That's it. Um,
00:26:43
Speaker
No pod next week, everyone. Just FYI. I'm going to be away. Ben's going to be away. You might actually not be away. I might not have to travel, but either way. Well, I'm going to be gone. I'm taking some time off after.
00:26:58
Speaker
the holiday after the holidays, as some people might say. So I'm going to take that off. But yeah, be back the following week. So enjoy the end of November forever. Jared and I are in the position of whenever you need to take time now is the time to take it because
00:27:14
Speaker
In this short period of time, we will not have us time. No, that's going to be us time in terms of two people. Exactly. I mean, right, it won't be like... There will be no me time anymore. No, exactly. It'll be me and a little ball of flesh that poops.
00:27:37
Speaker
And it's not me this time. Cool. Um, yeah, so I'll, I'll put up the, we'll have, hopefully we'll have sheets

Podcast Closure and Updates

00:27:49

up. We'll have a boom bust up. We'll have the PWR stuff up. We will have start set up on Friday. Um, but other than that, um, enjoy, enjoy the next couple of weeks, friends. We'll see you all in December. Have a good one. Everyone later. Cheers.
