Musical Inspirations and TV Show Praise

Speaker
I'm convinced that the elm tree, it's called the elm tree, the trash lava. Yeah, I'm convinced that you could do a metal version really easy and I just had on the way in this morning I was listening to it and I was just roaring over the beat. I was like this would really work as a heavy metal track as well.
00:00:18
Speaker
Yep, I like it. Q and Eddie montage right at the end of this campaign. Oh my god, that master of puppets scene is sick, wasn't it? It is one of the best scenes in a TV show I have ever seen.

Fellowship of the Tabletop Introduction

00:00:59
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop Bellum Draconis. We are a live play 5e D&D podcast set in the magical home, rude world of Eryth and the Kingdom of Sleepguard. My name is Mark and I am the Dungeon Master. And also with us for this week's episode we have Darren who plays the High Elf Artifice at Rainside Isle. Ah, General Kenobi. We've got Callum who plays the Warforged Artifice at Alpha. This is where the fun begins. Ian who plays the Tiefling Warlock, Nyx Carell.
00:01:53
Speaker
Oh no, R2. Oh my god, that's very good. Maybe you should have done that for your... Yeah, that is... That is an alpha voice.
00:01:53
Speaker
This is the way.

Character Voices and Inspirations

00:02:01
Speaker
NC could be your R2D2. We'll have it squeak so only you can understand it. It'll be great. Why did you pull out that now? Like, come on. I don't like doing that voice. 26 episodes in. Oh my, R2.
00:02:16
Speaker
Oh, everyone at home is just like going, what? Anthony Daniels, is that you? C-3PO in some of the video games and whatnot. I'm just laboring this episode in my notes as Alpha finds his voice. It's basically Folly but it's a robot, let's face it. No, it's not. It's basically shaving a high-pitched and a robot.
00:02:43
Speaker
If we want to think about what happened in the past, maybe we should find out what happened last episode. Well, that's a really good, really good way of segwaying kindly and very non-forced into our quick recap on what happened last week's episode. And for that, we're going to go over to our returner, our returning cartographer of, not cartographer, we've mentioned cartographer in the brain. Chronicler. Chronicler, thank you. Our chronicler for more information whilst I clear my throat on what happened on last week's episode of Fellowship of the Tabletop.

Adventure Recap and New Beginnings

00:03:12
Speaker
In the last few pages of our adventure, our not yet heroes return to the surface after rescuing Marota from the Jade Blood Drops. Taking in the evening air, the party headed in a direction of Goldport Keep, taking up the offer of further monster hunting work from Orla. On route, Marota asks more about the circumstances that led to her capture. The party explained that she was believed to be a wanted criminal known as the Valkyrie.
00:03:41
Speaker
Marotta then posed the question, why not continue this facade? Can the party find profit for Marotta pretending to be this infamous assassin? Alpha suggests that this may be an opportunity to discover criminal activity throughout Goldview, and in discovering them, expose said criminals to the city's authorities in hopes to gain an audience with Princess Helenus Ligard, the head of the royal family in Goldview.
00:04:07
Speaker
As the party depates between profit and justice, the sun sets on this chapter, and rises on chapter and level 3.
00:04:17
Speaker
Ooh, very nice, Daniel. Thank you. Beautiful. What a lovely little crossover there. I need to stop complimenting you and just kind of going segueing in. It sounds more professional that way, but I just, I always want to say thank you, but thank you. They're always so good. I know they are. They're also good. I know, but we need to act like it's normal and like it's always this way. And that way we don't sound like little fanboys after that. I mean, would you be all, I hope you're kidding. Oh yeah, definitely. But, uh, thank you, Danny, for that gorgeous entry. The,

Morning Routine and Experiments

00:04:48
Speaker
Still air is filled with fog this morning across the moorlands that sit between you and Goldport Keep. As you've chosen to take a shortcut and Ronda leading the group at the front, it cuts down the journey massively this morning to just an hour or so's travel before you get to the coordinates and location that was described by you from Orla to get you to her keep.
00:05:15
Speaker
And the fire's out, we are all up. Sorry, we're not, we're not, we're not, we're not. We've woken just Raines. Raines has gotten up slightly early, set his alarm an hour earlier on his iPhone. And he's woken up slightly early because I believe Raines wanted to do a little bit of fiddling. Is that right?
00:05:33
Speaker
I thought she said. I wake up at least four hours before these guys. I've done my rest bit and I can do some minor pondering and tinkering in that time. I promise I won't spend every long rest doing this. Anyway, Reigns will get up and immediately make his way over to where Alpha is.
00:05:56
Speaker
He's not going to wake Alpha, he's just going to stand in front of Alpha as he's done many times when he's on standby mode because Alpha's memory cortex is still effectively in situ. And Rains is just going to put the bag of holding on the floor.
00:06:14
Speaker
he's going to take a seat and he's going to go into the bag of holding and then see he's going to pop out and he's going to just go good morning and see if you would be quite so kind as to brew some coffee.
00:06:29
Speaker
and what NC will do is he will take his top hat off, Raines will pour some water into his head, NC will dive into the bag of holding almost like he's scooping into an ice cream tray and come straight back up with a load of coffee beans in his head and we'll just start to brew coffee.
00:06:50
Speaker
Rains will then take out from the bag of holding bits of the scrap armour that he can find and he will start to sift between the bits that are still serviceable and those that are rusted beyond repair. I don't know if you need some form of check for that. Um... Investigation? Okay.
00:07:20
Speaker
And what exactly, given the role, but also what are you looking for? Raines is just looking for bits of armour that are still serviceable, something that could be redeemable, whether it's the chest plate, whether it's the gauntlets, whether it's the bracers, just anything here that is particularly serviceable. He will start with the bracers. He's looking for something he can put on his arm in the first instance. Okay. I'd rather 14.
00:07:51
Speaker
Thank you. Boots and braces are serviceable. The chest place is not, the helmet might be, but you need to be somewhere with a decent forge and a couple of good blacksmiths. Okay, he'll take one look at that and he'll go, okay, Alpha, I can't particularly remember the count, so you're gonna have to forgive me.
00:08:20
Speaker
set a recording for Defender Protocol. We'll just call it 500. I don't know how many of these we've done by now.
00:08:28
Speaker
He's not expecting a response from Alpha as he says this. You get the sense he's done this several times where he's used Alpha's memory relay whilst he's on standby just to keep track of stuff that he is tinkering with. Okay, this time we're gonna need something 3D just to make this work. And Reigns will take out the statue of Akiva, the little sweet container that he picked up in the elven ear.
00:08:54
Speaker
And just if he does it, he's going to just bop it on the head. And this again, green, almost like hologram of a suit of armor is just going to engulf Akiva and appear in front of it. So for the purpose of the recording, I've been having some thinking. When I was in Fatherkeep with Fritzenrith, he said to me that my brain was my greatest weapon. And I've always chosen to take that metaphorically, but
00:09:24
Speaker
I'm starting to wonder what happens if I choose to take that literally. Now, I won't go into the details of it because it's particularly grisly and involves the skeletal remains of a couple of hundred-year-old goblins, but we have discovered in our time at the Sister Hole Diocese that the humanoid brain, dependent on the specific nature of the humanoid, can power
00:09:54
Speaker
Well, it can generate as a specific word for it that we started to call it. In nature, you call it lightning or thunder, but I believe we chose to call it electricity. And if that happens, I'm starting to wonder if I've been thinking about this all wrong. I'll put down the Rubik's Cube, I'll tap it.
00:10:21
Speaker
abjuration and it will glow a certain color. I'll put down another one and tap it and go conjuration and of course most importantly the final one will go down evocation. Now
00:10:41
Speaker
and Raines will start to remove the wristband that he's used for firebolt and we'll just toss it into the bag of holding. I've always assumed that evocation had to come from an external source when trying to make this work, but I'm starting to wonder what happens if that evocation magic comes from within. If I die in the process of doing this for the record, I want it to be known that I'm gonna use my own brain
00:11:10
Speaker
as a source for conjure within the defender protocol. I'm gonna generate the electricity, the lightning for one of the better word from inside my own body and try and conjure with it to this. And he'll just boot the suit of armor on the floor. He's going to then put his hands onto the armor, take a deep breath, pause for a second, look at NC and just go,
00:11:40
Speaker
Are you looking at me like I'm about to do something stupid?
00:11:46
Speaker
I keep forgetting that you can't talk. Search my memory cortex relay for the lute to the golden triangle. Now, they're a specific band. The thing's not important. At the end of some of their big numbers, they would take their hands up in the air and they put them together like this. I believe it is known as jazz hands. If you think I'm doing something stupid, then see, I want you to do jazz hands right now.
00:12:14
Speaker
Does NC do jazz hands? NC's hands do not go up. Jolly good. I'm glad that we're on the same page. And as I do that, he's going to shove his hand into the bracer.
00:12:28
Speaker
The Rubik's cubes around him are just going to start to glow as once again, he will just look at conjuration, abjuration, evocation. He's going to force his hand onto the evocation Rubik's cube, hold it up into the air and just point it out in front of him. And it's going to start to rumble as if the very faints of thunder are within the bracer. And he's just going to say to himself,
00:12:56
Speaker
activate Defender protocol one and as he does that bits of the suit including the ruined chestplate are just going to take into the air and they're just going to start attaching themselves to Reigns. The helmet in particular is going to just lift up and is going to fly over the back of Reigns' head and just land like a hood on the back of his shoulder blades and as a bonus action once the rest of the suit has started to attach itself
00:13:25
Speaker
He's then going to. The suit, by the way, now, because of the infusion, even if it's pretty much redundant, will start to just malleably attach itself to Reigns. Doesn't do anything to the integrity of the armour. It just means it fits him. And then as a bonus action, the helmet is just going to lift over and close up. Oh, fuck. I can't believe that worked. This is recording. This is recording. Alpha can't talk, but I think this is recording.
00:13:54
Speaker
okay okay okay let's see what's happening here and all of a sudden on the other side of the back of the bracer of the the back of the glove on rangers left hand a a hole is going to okay i think i
00:14:12
Speaker
He puts the Rubik's Cube inside the hole and all of a sudden the Bracer just starts to properly start to like pulse and shake. And what Rains does is that he sees what looks like a hologram that runs down from the wrist all the way down to the bottom of the forearm. Almost like he's cocking a gun, he's just going to pull it down like that and all of a sudden the
00:14:38
Speaker
pulsing will absolutely stop but as he lifts his hand to the ear there is just this faint sound of almost like rolling thunder in the bracer okay okay okay okay okay okay um i don't want to wake anyone else up but this is so fucking exciting i hope this is recording alpha i hope you have a memory of this deactivate defend the protocol and the armor is just going to
00:15:08
Speaker
having gone on so gracefully, he's just going to literally just crash off onto the floor like a... And he's then just going to be left standing there with the Rubik's Cube in his hand. We need to work on the deactivation. And he's going to glance at NC, who has just been hovering around him throughout all of that with a healing Salvant Tea, just nervously brewing inside his belly.
00:15:37
Speaker
is just going to look at him and say to NC, it worked, right? You saw that. I made it work. I made it work. I had to, it was the evocation. I knew it was the evocation. I've been trying with that firebolt to use something externally, like starting a fire, but my brain is my greatest weapon, right? Does he perform jazz hands? He does not.
00:16:07
Speaker
Wait, Jazz Hands is doing something stupid, yeah? Yeah. He doesn't do Jazz Hands. I tell you what, I tell you what, now use Jazz Hands as a primary focus of saying yes. If I want you to say yes, you do Jazz Hands. If not, do it like a twirl in a circle that means you're saying no. That was awesome, right? Jazz Hands. Yeah, Jazz Hands! Okay, that's cool. Seriously, I'm going to need your help to gather all this up and put it back in the bag of holding.
00:16:37
Speaker
He twirls in a circle. I should have kept you with a kill. And I do keep you with a kill. Make me some more coffee. And I'm going to start picking up the rest of the suit that's dropped around me and just drop it back into the bag of holding.

Mysterious Dreams and Infernal Headaches

00:16:57
Speaker
I don't know if the clunking of my arm are literally crashing off me.
00:17:00
Speaker
has woken anyone. But yeah, Reigns will help just covering that back up. Nice. And Nix, Emron and Morota, you come to very suddenly at Alpha, you just ding, ding, ding, ding. Windows 95 turns on. As you hear this thud and this kind of laughter,
00:17:18
Speaker
And as you see, Raines is going to scrabble around picking up armour, nothing out of the ordinary for Raines really, around the camp as you will kind of come to. However, there is something strange about the way, one of the ways that two of you awake.
00:17:35
Speaker
I'm awake and from your sleep and you can't remember why but both of you feel this way separate in your own different ways and like there's been some absolutely fucking awful nightmares you've had through the night and nicks and amron you wake up cold like you know when you get woken up midway
00:17:53
Speaker
your body wakes up and you're like running hot and your body is sweating already and it just feels like you've been activated and active through a period of the night and you've been working up halfway through something like a kettle almost boiling. I don't know how to describe it but you're just sweating a lot and it feels like something's activated, something's like on. You should be doing something in your drink and you're not anymore and you're just a little bit agitated in your state.
00:18:22
Speaker
as you two both come around separately, not you sleeping together and you both wake up at the same time but just both of you have that feeling separately for both of you as you come to. I'll wake up to the thud noise of the armour dropping off and probably Marota as the kensai monk that you are would probably be the most kind of alert to wake up the quickest to rouse especially given what's happened to Emron and Nyx so I'll pass over to you.
00:18:49
Speaker
Morocha will just sort of as that initial reflex just open one eye and try and remain still otherwise and just try and survey around a little bit and then do naturally I'll probably just see Alpha is stood up but booting, Rains is mobile, do
00:19:15
Speaker
Emron and Nick's look like they are there. Like, will I see anything that was described, like any physiological symptoms?
00:19:26
Speaker
Do they look unwell? I guess we'll have to ask them. So as YouTube will come around, maybe everyone will start with you. You've got your blanket up that Alpha gave you through the night that's still on. Nix, you're off to the side near the fire as well. But, M1, if you'll start with you.
00:19:45
Speaker
you come to you you know what what's what's going on in everyone's life what's going on in everyone's life what a what a question and no um uh everyone will all of a sudden um wake up with uh a start and uh he he he's kicking and he sort of throws off uh the blanket and sort of um sits very quickly wide-eyed breathing going
00:20:15
Speaker
What's happening? Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. I dropped the rust bucket and I'll point to the armour at my feet. I was just doing my things and I dropped the rust bucket at QL. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I mean, pardon me. Part of me wants to thank you because whatever was going on in my dreams was not pleasant, so thanks for waking us.
00:20:45
Speaker
You don't look like it. Do you normally get bad dreams? No, this is not for a long time. That was a bit of a bluffing past that. It's probably just a strange world and maybe I slept with a tree root in my back or something. It'd be fine, you know.
00:21:12
Speaker
I'm just gonna kick Nix while I'm seemingly looking like I give a shit about Emron. I'm just gonna boot with my heel, Nix's leg. And Nix, you come to feeling as I described earlier.
00:21:26
Speaker
Nick sits up upright and grabs each side of his head with his hands, especially near the temples. He's forcing the palms of his hands into his temples as he just starts to wake through a start.
00:21:43
Speaker
And he starts speaking in infernal, which if you could understand infernal, he says, oh, God, my head. Oh, God. Oh, what's happening? This is strange. This is strange. Oh. And then as he realizes that he's talking in infernal, we just kindly catch himself. I've got a headache. I've got a headache. I've got a headache.
00:22:11
Speaker
Did you have a bad dream? I don't know. I don't know. I just feel like I haven't been asleep.
00:22:22
Speaker
Oh, this is weird. I need some coffee. Anyone who's got coffee. Oh, I got your back for that. All you need is your hip flask. Not your words. I need your coffee. Well, you need your hip flask lid and then NC will sort you right out and NC will fly over towards and we'll wait patiently for Nix to take out his hip flask lid. Nix will grab NC from midair and just open his mouth and shake it.
00:22:48
Speaker
That's not gonna work. He has to like you have to you have to like command it open command this thing to open Well fan fair enough and see open open up I need the hat will just come off and because if he's holding it like that all that's gonna happen is that coffee is just gonna go Why did you want him to open when you were hold them up there that doesn't make no sense
00:23:15
Speaker
Okay, coffee down, whatever the command is. You can put your hat back on then too. Just put your hat back on. What is this? Well, I think that you and Emron clearly had a rough night. So, you know, do you just want to like stay here and sleep it off? No, no.
00:23:45
Speaker
No, it's fine, it's just, I don't know, it's, yeah, weird. And everyone will sort of be rolling up his pack and they'll sort of touch his chest and be like, and a critical look will cross his face. And he'll reach into his shirt and pull out what should be the horseshoe, but it's actually now this little book that's around his, that it's like this little dark green,
00:24:13
Speaker
tome about palm size and then we'll be like. And he'll look to Nick like. Nick, what the fuck are you doing? Nick's still robbing his temples if he's trying to calm down a huge my ground. Oh, what are you talking about? I'm just here.
00:24:34
Speaker
Either you've nicked the horseshoe and swapped it with whatever this is. What's this? What's that? Where's the horseshoe? What do you mean, what their horseshoe is? Sorry, sorry, sorry. Can I just jump? Apologies, apologies. The horseshoe is still there as well. It's awesome. Oh, is it? Sorry, same. The horseshoe is still bloody around your neck, you moron. Even I can see it. My fault, apologies. The way you typed it. You said it simply, yes, sorry. You're blind, old fool.
00:25:03
Speaker
It's on the bit you've got around your neck as well as the horseshoe, apologies. It's my fault, badly described. Well, your horseshoe's here, but now there's also a book. What's that about? I don't know, I don't read books. No, but it's reeking. What are you asking me? Reeking at the same energy that this horseshoe is.
00:25:26
Speaker
Right, okay. I haven't been near you all night. I'm dealing with a migraine. If you don't mind, just... Alpha, have you been near me all night? I have a witcher. There's no interactions between Nick and yourself. Free S. That might have been in your dreams. Everyone will stuff the thing. You wouldn't be the first or the last person to dream about me touching them in the night. Not this morning. Not this morning. You're telling me not this morning. You started this.
00:25:55
Speaker
Emran, just to interrupt, because NC wants to know if you want some coffee, and it's just floating next to you. No, I don't drink coffee, you know. Well, I know. NC doesn't drink coffee, and NC will then fly over to the writer as the only person it hasn't offered coffee to yet. Aye, I'll take it, thank you. You're just going to need to give him your hip flask thingy. Don't just grab it and pour it on you, it's a bad idea.
00:26:26
Speaker
out of the front, around the crotch area, this coffee would just start to land on my feet. Am I screaming that? Is there a dick coffee being offered now? Well, it's only got a particular orifice with dispute in the coffee. It is a metallic area. It's not, it's not, it's not a... I'm going to hand my, I'm going to hand my cup to Nix.
00:26:49
Speaker
Oh, you know what? I need it right now. Just give me this dick coffee. Everyone's gonna search back as well. Got a small water skinner wine if you want something different for breakfast. I'll take the water skinner wine if that's being offered. I don't want the dick coffee anymore.
00:27:06
Speaker
I'll pass the wine. It's regular coffee. It's just, it can't pour it out of its head because we've just seen what happens. Yeah, where it grinds this means I don't want to know. Give me the wine. Where do you grind your bean? I'll look at it and see if it comes back to me. Is there like a science to that? How do you, maybe I don't want to know. Here, I'll have some more. And it will just start pouring coffee back into, thank you, into my mug and I'll drink it. Alpha? No, thank you. I do not require any such beverage.
00:27:36
Speaker
It started to fly towards you and then turns back. Goodbye, MC. Erith breakfast wine. Good to keep the water going. Right. Sorry. Go on. No, I was going to move on. You can say what you want to say. I was going to move us on. Wait, shall we, shall we move on? I feel like you want to.
00:28:01
Speaker
Have you picked up all your stuff here? Oh, I just need Rubik's cubes to go and I'll put them back in the bag of holding. Oh look, an owl. I heard horrific noises from foxes last night. I don't know what was going on. Search your memory bank. Search your memory bank. What do you know about those noises? Let's see what you got in there. I did not recognise any such noises. At least someone else was grinding beans.
00:28:30
Speaker
Are we exploring fox sex or are we moving on? We were all trying to fill the time so you didn't have to like, you know. No, I know. I was trying to, trying to interject and you guys are making it hard and speaking of making it hard.
00:28:44
Speaker
But it's relatively easy and relatively fast, if not hard at all. And the camera's packed up nice and neatly and headaches and toe, coffee filled piss mugs as well.

Journey to Goldport Keep

00:28:56
Speaker
The brain's loving it. It's a metallic area. I know. Whatever you keep telling, whatever you can make, helps you drink that coffee. But the characters don't give a shit. They think it's piss coffee and I like the name of it.
00:29:08
Speaker
and we head off across the the short kind of thin end of the moorlands outside of Goldview to get ourselves to all as keep. Emily you follow the instructions true the horizon around you is marred and mist so your field of vision as a group is slightly lessened than what it was the previous day yet the sun is high and hot
00:29:34
Speaker
And as you make your way through the early morning, the fog does start to slowly dissipate, leaving only light clouds above head, marring the otherwise perfectly blue sky. The moorlands are quiet, low rolling hills of grass, small shrubs and bushes, minimal wildlife. And you can see for far, I kind of think that the new forest in the UK than south of the UK, the new forest, that's my kind of picture of what this is kind of like.
00:30:02
Speaker
And after a shorter run, I've been rolling really low on these things, which has been good for you guys, you see just on a slight incline, you seem to be slowly going up for about like 10, 15 minutes or so, and you kind of come up onto what seems like a very, very, very, very, very large kind of plateaued area, a very flat ground that sits. And as you look back, quite a few feet above the kind of the flood plains below you.
00:30:32
Speaker
And as you look forward, you see a rather odd assortment of buildings. These buildings are closely packed together with small almost streets built in between them. They fit into a very tight square.
00:30:49
Speaker
perfect interior to some kind of walled keep or castle of some description yet there is no wall around it you see from your entrance point as you enter to the north from the north of it and two possible entrances that flank one building and you can see a number of other possible entrances as well this keep if that is indeed what you have stumbled upon gold port keep seems unfinished at best
00:31:20
Speaker
Just to give you a quick view of this, I have gone out of my way to design a little map. So on Roll20, if you should just pop you in, you'll get an overview of the area.
00:31:30
Speaker
You enter from the north, and what you see is you enter in from the north, like I said, a series of buildings south of you with a number of separate areas to it. To the left of that, very clearly and standing quite high, is the backs of two large statues looking down upon a stone throne that sits facing south.
00:31:54
Speaker
Far to the south-east you also see a separate outbuilding that sits quite large, quite squat, quite low to the ground. Yet the main buildings that you see tightly packed together contain a number of similar traits. That of thatched roof, that of white panels and dark oak beams across all of them. They share age, they share style, they share design from your current angle and the north.
00:32:25
Speaker
As you start to approach closer, you notice a small halfling sat on a bench. The path basically deviates into two separate paths heading into this area, either side of one of the middle buildings.
00:32:43
Speaker
and sat on a bench just off the side tinkering with a dagger, kind of spinning it on her finger and letting it come to rest and seeing how long she could balance it. Kind of like a, you do with a basketball kind of spin on your finger, but she's doing with the dagger quite deftly. Tight, bun-tied back of black hair. It says halfling in rather relaxed civilian clothing is
00:33:05
Speaker
who you recognize to be Orla. She sat chewing on some bread while spinning the dagger and kind of looking off, not paying any attention to your arrival as you start to get closer. Probably about 100 feet out by now at this rate.
00:33:17
Speaker
Did you, sorry, just go back to the description of the buildings, is like, obviously, the other buildings you've had with thatched roofs, I'm imagining one story. Are there any buildings that are more than one story tall? No, they are all one story, except what you do notice is a building that's offset, separate, very far away, isn't a thatched roof. It is a tiled roof. Is that the one over to the right of the map? Correct, yes, with a very, very large brick chimney.
00:33:47
Speaker
that sits out. The others have small fire chimneys. Yeah, that one has a very large brick chimney that sticks out. Thank you. You can see smoke rising from the large building to the left, very large building to the left, though you can't see any smoke coming from any other buildings. If this is indeed inhabited by many people at all,
00:34:13
Speaker
She eventually looks up and sees her arriving and a big smile appears over her face. I wondered if you'd actually make it here or not. Welcome.
00:34:30
Speaker
diversions as it were, but we made our way. When he said keep, I imagine something more than one story, but, you know, expectations. It's a rather long story, you see, and one that I, of course, would be willing to share with you. I hope I didn't mislead you too much. No, it looks fine and dandy.
00:34:54
Speaker
It's a piece of shit, and it's not finished, I know. But it's a start. It's a home. How are you all doing? It feels like it's been a while since I've last seen you all. Well, you know, it's been interesting. I'd say that. We got into a bit of a rumble with jade blood drops, but we dealt with it.
00:35:25
Speaker
Oh shit, the blood drops, really?
00:35:29
Speaker
Ah, you know. What happened? Anything bad? Well, there was a street fart and, you know, angry words were exchanged. Blows were exchanged. People got knocked out. I got put inside an iron maiden. Marota got put inside an iron maiden. For two days. We then met someone called Sir Tana Barry, who helped us out. We found out where the Jade Blood Drops were. We rescued Marota. I met a dragon. We met a dragon.
00:36:00
Speaker
Well, more of a wormling, yeah. And then we came here, thought, you know what? Ola, she's great with hospitality, she'll have a play for us, and we can sort of base ourselves here rather than having to watch our backs all the time. She is baffled as you both kind of unload all this information and she's like, fucking hell, it sounds like you've had a really busy time. I just got here and... well, that was really it. Shit.
00:36:27
Speaker
But you guys are definitely those that I want to join in. Have you any chance of anything hot and edible that doesn't come out of the wieness of a flying little squirrel? I don't really know what you're referring to, but yes, I... Dick Coffee. She's referring to Dick Coffee. I don't know what that is.
00:36:56
Speaker
I'm thoroughly confused. Is this an inside joke? Yes, I have food. I've got hot food.
00:37:03
Speaker
Do we just want that? I can show you around quickly. Do you want a quick tour of the area? That would be great. If we could just get indoors and have something hot, I'm all ears. Of course. And please follow me. And she takes the path on the right down between two buildings and takes you to the door at the very, very large building on the right and takes you to one of the entrance door there. Pushes are open. And what you see in front of you is obviously
00:37:32
Speaker
what used to be or will be or could have been a great haul of some description. Half of it has been kind of remodeled into some kind of domestic kitchen.
00:37:46
Speaker
haphazardly put together, barrels all over the place, chairs just kind of stacked randomly. There are way too many tables and chairs all laid out almost impeccably and only one that seems to have ever been used over and over again. There's almost a thin layer of dust across a lot of it, except it's one area where obviously you can imagine that's where Alla uses it. A lot of things are covered in sheets but we're talking barrels of drink and
00:38:11
Speaker
There's a piano on the side, there's a fireplace that's not used. There's just lots and lots of, it's flipping massive for one person. And you can tell there's like two plinths that are, what two sconces that are used. She lights half the space, she uses one area of the space. But it's just a massive, massive room and its potential is almost limitless.
00:38:34
Speaker
Please come in. I normally sit on this table, but I mean, good excuse to use any of them, really. They're all kind of six-person tables, so she has a quick count. We could all fit around one table if you want. Or I could all have our own. Yeah, there literally is enough. This is your home. Yeah, well, not really mine, but well, no, it is.
00:39:04
Speaker
It is mine, and she goes over to the stove and on it is this kind of, seems like some kind of stew or something that she's got on a slow boil.

Orla's Mission and New Contracts

00:39:15
Speaker
She starts doling out, grabs a load of bowls and she starts doling out, not really asking anyone, but just starts doling out as she talks. It's my father's, well, was my father's before he died. It was always his mission to finish this place, and once the buildings were up,
00:39:31
Speaker
it was the start and then he demolished some and replaced them and the keep would grow and the walls would come with it. Anyway, this is all we got. It passed to my brother to take over and carry it on, but unfortunately, no one's seen him for a while now these days. What's the deal there? It just disappeared one day. Just like that? She looks down.
00:40:00
Speaker
Just like that. That was just over two years ago now and I haven't heard anything. My main mission you should know in my endeavors of monster hunting is to gain the contacts and money necessary to find my brother.
00:40:24
Speaker
But that's for me and me only to deal with. That's not for you. You're here for the monster hunting, that's all. She looks out one of the side windows towards the kind of inner estate area. We've got a few buildings here, some of which are in repair, some of which are usable. We've got the
00:40:41
Speaker
referred to as the barracks, but it's the sleeping quarters, a number of bedrooms, or beds that can be used in a single room, storage of goods, chests, et cetera. One of them's mine. There's 12, 13 beds that can be used there. We've got the armory to the north, yet that's empty and bare. And the room in the middle is, well, that was my parents' room, but it's where they stayed at least. I've emptied it now. To the south, there's the tree.
00:41:10
Speaker
an orange tree in a small grove where my parents are buried and next to it is it's a latrine sounds odd but it's he loved that tree he used to sit there and write daily almost below there is a cemetery ironic that there should be a cemetery there and my parents aren't buried there but they always wanted a family plot
00:41:37
Speaker
We've had no one to put there yet. And if my brother's body ever shows up, his will go in there. But I know my father would not want to just have been buried in there, despite him wanting the plot. For the South, the lands around here are owned by me. And the South, there is a small lake abundant with fish. It's a lovely spot, especially in the mornings. Great for fishing, great for relaxing, swimming. Good to have a source of fresh water nearby. Absolutely. Sensible.
00:42:06
Speaker
And then there's my father's workshop off to the side, which was the first building he built here, a large kind of blacksmithing workshop, armory type thing. I haven't been in there in years. It's been ransacked once or twice in our time. We used to have some problems with raiders and
00:42:30
Speaker
And more recent months I've pissed off the local goblins. Well, monster hunting and all, you know. So, look, I'm gonna be honest with you all, I feel like I've pulled the wool over your eyes slightly by telling you I have a keep. The land is mine, the rooms are secure, the doors lock. And like you say, if you wanted to get out of the city, we're out of the city.
00:42:56
Speaker
But I would love for you to treat this as much of yours as it is mine. I mean, it is mine, but it's very big and I'm very small. You can't be serious, Orla. This place is beautiful. You've got shit loads going on, haven't you? It is positively opulent in conditions I've been working in, so, you know.
00:43:28
Speaker
I guess I'm looking at it through the eyes of my family, and wanting it to be what it could be, and what it should be, not what it is, I think, is holding me back from seeing what it currently is. I guess perspective does mean a lot, and I appreciate your words, Morita. Thank you. Nonetheless, what's mine is yours, and yours is mine. If you are willing to join me and to help raise the name of my monster-hunting guild, then
00:43:57
Speaker
You are more than welcome to stay here indefinitely. And I don't want to rush you, and I know you've just sat down and she passes out some stew, and she's still kind of excitedly standing as she kind of gestures you all to sit. I have been given a number of contracts since our success in arms and armor, word of spread of all those months to hunting guild, and there is work, there is work coming in.
00:44:26
Speaker
but you all look like there's something else on your minds. No, we're just weary. No, yeah, we've just been travelling and it's nice to find a nice place and Goldview got a bit busy, a bit quick for my personal liking. Yes, the city seems to be a tender block of activity. A tender block? That's not a word. A tender of activity at the moment and with the
00:44:54
Speaker
with the destruction of the blight not so long ago and the return of, well, the monsters, the creatures, the others, after the power vacuum, our work is necessary here. And I'm just so thankful, I'm so thankful that you came. I mean, not to say you're doing this for free, I know you will get well paid for this and you will take the majority cut of all rewards that come from this, don't be sure of that.
00:45:25
Speaker
But I still appreciate it. It means a lot to finally have someone listen and agree and want to help.
00:45:32
Speaker
Well, I mean, while we're all Saturday, you might as well go over the latest job offerings and we can mull them over, you know, best of the all, otherwise we'll, you know, lose the day, as they say. That's a very good point. And she shouts over, she starts rummaging through a few drawers. Now, they arrived by messenger not so long ago. Oh, in fact, were they already here? And she goes over, yes, here they are, and pulls out
00:45:59
Speaker
I draw and she pulls out two pieces of paper and kind of looks over them. Right, we've got two here. One down on Redstone Farm on the Union Pass. They've got issue with some kind of chicken. Right. He looks over a little bit more detail. Bird, big bird.
00:46:29
Speaker
something on the cliffs eating the chickens right gutted eating the chickens eating livestock okay okay this might sound interesting a periton some kind of bird perhaps large bird roosting on the cliffs of the bronze storm sea
00:46:46
Speaker
speak to, anyway, she puts the note down and I'll share the notes. As fearless warriors desperately needed, please come to Redstone Farm out on the Union Pass, pass the dilapidated church and turn left for the farm. Ask for Bernadette. This is near the Golden Lakes, just to the southwest of Goldview, to the east of the largest lake. And the other one here,
00:47:13
Speaker
I mean this was a note directly to me so it's not as official as the other one but here you go and she puts it down as well.
00:47:23
Speaker
And it just says, dear Ola, oh, I've heard nothing but scratching all night for the past week. Whatever's down there is driving me crazy. I found nothing but chewed up parchment from my old books in the cellar. And last night, I swear I had digging to boot. If you've got anyone looking for some quick coin, come find me at Clay Peak Hall in the evening or drop by ancient Anvil book blacksmiths during the day and ask for Corrin porridge pot.
00:47:51
Speaker
and I'll put these in the chat for you both. Okay, cool. Have a copy of it as well. Are you that? Sorry, go. For that digging one, could that be something to do with what attacked you in the seller reigns? Oh shit, I forgot all about that. I thought it might. No, no, genuinely.
00:48:18
Speaker
You guys disappeared and I have no memory of what happened. Just with them they say digging and scratching. Don't know whether it could be connected or... Or do you know of any digging and scratching monsters that are part of fighting them? They leave insomnia on those who've seen them. Some creatures, I don't know, maybe a monster can do it as a survival mechanism. How to track something that you can't remember.
00:48:47
Speaker
There are some creatures that have the capacity to wipe memories, yes, and it wouldn't surprise me if they used it as a way of covering tracks or blanking out their victims before they strike. But why blank out a memory and then let the person live? That seems odd. That seems very odd.
00:49:07
Speaker
As Rains is contemplating that, he's going to hold up his mug and then Steve's just going to start to pour him some coffee. Oh, I see now what you mean about the pissing coffee. It's gross. It's absolutely some sort of weird phallic thing. Did you not have a great time when you were like one, two years old?
00:49:25
Speaker
Me? Well, no, this is just a... ...a... ...a... ...genetical thing. It's the only place where... Look, it has to tip to pore. It's a genital thing, that's for sure. Sure. You would have to just look at MC as I say that and go... ...you were taxidermied, right? As much of the... ...crot tumor as I can take. Has it before Dad's house? When I ask it that. It does, yeah. See? See? Nothing to worry about.
00:49:50
Speaker
Orla, you know, dicks aside, you mentioned that you're also having trouble with goblins. I think that should be on our... If that's the more immediate, close, bearing problem. I'm trying to think of the appropriate name for radar, but you know what I mean. On our sort of map, as it were, on doorstep. That's it. That's right.
00:50:17
Speaker
I feel bad, it's the second time I'll have to ask you to help me. But yes. You're giving us food and presumably you're letting us sleep here, so... Of course, yes. It's in our benefit to make sure we're not killed by goblins in the night, you know? Well fuck yeah, of course. I mean, I never thought of it like that. Of course. Well, here we go.
00:50:36
Speaker
Yesterday, I got here to set things up thinking you guys would maybe come and I made some beds and I started getting everything kind of, she looks around for lonely, cleaned, and cleaning out some spaces for you in case you guys did arrive. And I got a visit.
00:50:54
Speaker
Now, last year, I got a little contract through to deal with the Runk Claw Clan, which were a group of goblins not too far from here that had camped out and were raiding some of the roads here. Not particularly doing much good, but just the forces in Goldview weren't doing anything about it, you see. So I went out and shook them up a bit, killed a few of them, told them to bugger off and all that. And I thought nothing more of it until yesterday when I was just clearing out

Goblins: Threat or Opportunity?

00:51:24
Speaker
some old goods and this goblin appears, stood in front of me in the evening. Leags, he said his name was. And he, weird little fellow, even for a goblin, and basically said, I explained it wasn't personal, it's just part of the job, it's part of the contract, you know how it is. And he said, kill the contractor or we kill you. And that's all he said. And then he walked off.
00:51:53
Speaker
It's clearly capable of broad thinking here, this Ljax. So when you say the contract, who had the contract? Some merchant in Goldview, I've got the name somewhere here. Right, this runk clone clan has roughed up this merchant's caravan and he's wanted some payback.
00:52:14
Speaker
I think there's something coming down from the high haven or maybe to the north, maybe that passes along here that it got caught, caught the wrong caravan, is pissed off this merchant. He seems quite well loaded. And anyway, I got the pay for it and he came back round again. This merchant, I assume it was a he, didn't happen to mention owning the elven ear shop by any chance, did they? I just, no, no, I don't, I don't believe so. It's something with the docks, I think. Oh, very good.
00:52:45
Speaker
What direction from here did the goblins come from? They came from the east, and she kind of looks out the window, but there's a wall on the other side of it because it's a thin corridor from the east. I'm quite good at finding goblins. I know roughly where they might be. There's a series of outcropped rocks that they like to dig around. It could be there.
00:53:13
Speaker
I've been hearing some strange noises out in the moors recently and I don't know... I don't know what they're doing out there. I don't know if it's just goblins. I know goblins don't make that noise and it sure as shit weren't those foxes I heard the other night. Oh, yeah, we heard them too. Sounds like we need to pay these goblins a visit just to make it very clear that, you know,
00:53:43
Speaker
We're here to steer. Safety should be of top priority while residing in the domicile. I agree with that. Whatever Alpha said, yeah, while we're staying in the steer, here ours is, yeah. I will just say though, my experiences with goblins is quite... I've dealt with them quite a lot.
00:54:03
Speaker
And as harsh as it is to say it, they are like an infestation. You clear them all out or they just continue to come back. So if we go for this, we need to hoof them out one way or another. Force, violence or death. Otherwise they will continue to come back and give it a week, give it a month, give it a year. They'll be back. Give it away now. I have a question. You mentioned these goblins are like an infestation. Are they that?
00:54:33
Speaker
Are they that simplistic? We don't have goblins in Chederman, but they have them in the Varandian jungle in Wildheart, just to our east. Some of those goblins, they have order, they have religion, they have... Some of them are good people, I don't mind saying it. What are these goblins like? These haven't been domiciled here long enough.
00:55:00
Speaker
Since the blight only a year ago, they haven't built communities like that. These are feral. There's no sense of reason in them. They barely string together anything in anything outside of Goblin. Their common is limited. They they follow those in power. And at the moment, they understood that they needed to cancel. They want you to cancel your contract. So, hmm.
00:55:24
Speaker
Maybe there's more to it than we know. That's my point. Raines is gonna... Power is all they care about. If power is all they care about, why not show them our power? Her face changes at that. And her eyes kind of search as she searches her mind. You mean to make them follow us?
00:55:53
Speaker
Well, you know, an option is to kill them all off and not have a problem, or it is to lead them. They don't have to come and live in your home, but... I mean, they might not necessarily be evil. Exactly. They might just be looking for a home, and if we can just help sort out whatever's caused the little ruckus,
00:56:17
Speaker
We can go from there and try and, you know, peacefully coexist with our neighbours. And if they turn out to be evil, we bastards, we just do a caving and fuck them up, you know? I'll leave that with you. Like I said, as long as I feel safe in my home and I can come talk my business from here, I'm happy with any outcome. But don't let it bite us in the ass, that's all I'd ask.
00:56:41
Speaker
Alpha, do me a solid and just see what you've got tucked away on the goblin tribes of the Verandian jungle. It might come in handy, it might not. What do you think to all this, Nix?
00:56:57
Speaker
Nick says, barely been paying any attention to what's going on as she cast your eyes over to him. He's in the corner. Well, he's not in the corner of the room. He sat down at one of the nearby tables and he's just kind of closing his eyes. And if you were to be able to read his thoughts, it feels like there's some
00:57:16
Speaker
essence inside of Nyx that is trying to split away from him and it's scaring the shit out of him and he's trying to every time if he feels like if he doesn't concentrate on himself on his mental prowess hard enough he's gonna tear in too and ever since he's woken up on this day something just doesn't feel normal it's not necessarily
00:57:41
Speaker
dark, but it's it's something he's never felt before. And you can just see him just kind of close his eyes. And he's just trying to just almost steady himself as if he was seasick or something like that. Oh, he looked like he's got wind. Well, Nick's is trying to trying to step in and deflect the tension from him. Nick's and most of us going to say Nick's is suffering from sea withdrawal.
00:58:10
Speaker
Right. All right. Is this into the sound that I gave you again? It may help. Could be wind. I've seen it before. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Could be. Could be. Just squeeze it out loud. Nick's a simple nod or a shake of the head. I follow where you guys go. Very good. Especially, he's my goddamn patron, isn't he? So, yeah, whatever Emron says goes. It's go find the goblins then. Just in case.
00:58:40
Speaker
Did any of you have any business you wanted to get back to your gold view? I mean, we're not far. We can hang out here. We have messages that pop by with post, etc. I can always, if you give me something to return with a little bit of coin for them, I can always get them to take any messages back. If you could send a message to Sir Tana Barry, we left him at the Afoo Finn. Just letting him know where we are.
00:59:08
Speaker
That'll be useful.

Splitting Tasks and Future Plans

00:59:09
Speaker
Well, to Tana and she gets a piece of paper at Tana Barry, Sir Tana Barry, Halfie, and... I'll compose something quickly now. Is there anything else you wanted to say? He just wanted to let us know where he was. I mean, there's some stuff we can do, and obviously there's those two other jobs that are sort of down around gold rule, so we can always go in there afterwards, but no, nothing that's burning other than us dealing with these goblins. Rains looks like he's got a burning...
00:59:38
Speaker
Yeah, I got someone I need to talk to. There's a cream for that. Yeah, I got someone I need to talk to. I need to go back and visit the blacksmith about something. I don't feel insulted at all that you want to consult with another blacksmith, Rains, but don't worry. I ain't about his smithery. It's about what he knows about home. Oh, right. Okay. Okay. I'll let you off.
01:00:03
Speaker
Well, like I said, Nyxis has taken out a parchment and quill and is drafting a note to the Esmeralda. It's to... Help us, Hill. Yeah. And it's, you know, in kind of big scrolling letters, finding myself delayed.
01:00:29
Speaker
We'll be back as soon as I can. Wait for me, Nyx. And then he's going to fold it and quarter it up and then he's going to put Vasil on the top and he's just going to hand it over. If you could take that to the docks, you should find his way to where it needs to be.
01:00:47
Speaker
Okay, no problem. And in there is a gold piece as well. Oh, shit, this is more than enough. Okay, yeah, got it. Hey, big spender. No one would see it, it's in the actual parchment. But if she took it out and showed everyone, then everyone would see it. Sorry, I thought you were handing it as an additional. Probably weighs a bit, you know. Cool. Well, I assumed that just if you felt the coin in there, it would be, you know, kind of sleight of hand style.
01:01:16
Speaker
Is it, Reigns, is it urgent? Do you want to get going now and we can wait and get these goblins when you get back? I don't know how urgent it is. Just something in the way that... Just something in my bones and something that happened when we met him, but... Do you think he'll still be there in a couple of days? Oh, I think it's his shop, but I don't know. I would do...
01:01:48
Speaker
I would appreciate going and talking. I owe him a day's work so I could always go with you. I'll tell you what, why don't those of you who need to go to Goldview today go? I would quite happily just stay here and spend some time not in Goldview. If we want to have a chat with the goblins, the four of us, I mean I'm not particularly imposing but you, you lot are, even without
01:02:17
Speaker
Enron and reigns we could always go have a chat with them anyway Yeah, you can leave and come back with a full force and fuck them up You could always scope the and sort of take the temperature and see whether it is gonna take You know a bit of ruckus or whether they'll be reasonable about it dad idea dad and daddy How do you feel about?
01:02:42
Speaker
Well, I was going to say... Uncle Nick's and I looking after your wee boy. Uncle Nick's... Don't really matter how we feel, Alpha. How do you feel about that? What do you think, Alpha? I have no apprehensions. I have no apprehensions spending time with Marota and Nick's. And Orla. Thank you. And Orla, of course. Oh, Charlie.
01:03:13
Speaker
All right. I mean, it's your call, Alpha. I promised you I'd give you that. It's your call if you're happy to do that. And fair enough. Nothing will happen to him. I would still like to conduct in goal view. However, I believe a goblin problem would take priority. And with your memory, it would be good so we can think about it afterwards. If you do come back after plan stuff, good if your memory goes along, because then we'll everything in perfect detail.
01:03:43
Speaker
And any information you have on goblin kin from across the shadow men borders and the free kingdom of Wildheart and Burundian jungle would, it could help if you can call anything. To expedite these letters too, apologies.
01:04:03
Speaker
And she's going to hand over the two letters. We can take them. I was going to say save the money and if you could take them in. I'd really like to keep my letter to myself please. Oh, you gave it to me. Okay, no problem. And she's going to hand it back to Nick. Thank you. What's wrong? Nick still want your patron on your post for you. Everyone has their secrets about their family.
01:04:27
Speaker
Well, we ain't planning on reading. I'm going to have a little smile for himself when he said that sort of teasing next, then go back. So. All right, Reins and I can go into town and.
01:04:41
Speaker
We'll leave you four to reconnoiter the goblins. If you wouldn't mind, we'll be fine. I've got the backs, don't you worry. I've got them covered. But if you're in, if you see any additional bounty posters, monster hunting stuff, anything new that you see up on the notice boards, anything like that, rip them down, bring them along. The Valkyrie. The what? The Valkyrie, if you find anything on the Valkyrie too. Orla, you don't happen to have any information on the
01:05:11
Speaker
the Valkyrie? I mean, not much really. From what I've heard, they're not much of a monster, more of just a person. So I take very little interest in that. I might know someone who does though, but it'll take some contacting. They work out of city, but I can put out some figures if it's something you're interested in. Aye, you could send a letter, that'd be great.
01:05:34
Speaker
I'm on it. But as she turns back to, I'm on a reins and just says, but any other letters you find about anything else that happens since we've been out of the city, it would be good to know just to keep a finger on the pulse and see what's the best job for us. Any other suppliers we need to pick up while we're in the city? Do you want to check in with Courage Pot, the second of the oralist contracts while you're in the city?

Oh, good call. While we're there, we can sort of at least get the lay of the land we could do, can't we? Yep, yep, good idea. Yeah, then come back and let us know. If it's worth it. I mean, if the girl's not worth it, then tell them to bugger off, you know, or make them pay us more. Alpha, there is one quick thing here.

I'm going to just chuck out for one of the Rubik's cubes. There is an infusion configuration on that that I'd like you to take a look at. Please say it just hits him on the head. In all fairness, let's make a quick dexterity check. Ah no, I catch that. In the actual 20. It was very nearly a one. I thought it would have been funny.

Speaker
You will see immediately on the Rubik's Cube, the text appears. Remember what I told you about that duel. They understood? Yes, Dad. Very good. All right, and then as the final cut and nods of farewell are said and Reigns and Emron, you head out and on the road back. Oh. Sorry.
01:07:18
Speaker
Sorry. Before the guy sort of goes, Elmo, go over to Alpha, sort of as getting ready to go. Alpha, go on your own and you're going to be great. Just remember, end of the day, do right thing. I will try, Father. Thank you. Good luck.
01:07:44
Speaker
reigns will walk past just give alpha a sturdy nod type him on the shoulder and follow emram and then you head back out on the northern road before they get out of earshot i'll just turn to nyx and i'll say
01:07:59
Speaker
So should we get the hookers now or? So as this scene has transpired and you've had Emron and Reigns go over to Alpha all the love and then just walk out, Nix is just turning around one hand on his stomach and his other free hand
01:08:19
Speaker
giving them the bird that they didn't say my or anything like that. At the door, everyone will turn around and be like, Nick, you didn't see it. It's behind your back. That's fine. But it'll turn over. Nick's. Yes, stay out of trouble. Don't do anything you wouldn't do. Stay by the light of a keto or whatever it is you got. Don't don't do any piracy. I hear you. I look after them both.
01:08:49
Speaker
Aye. Cheers. And that's it, yeah. And then, and as you finally give me a chance to let you exit and you walk off on the northern road, the folks joining up, don't you dare interrupt me, William, or I will kill and run off a violent way. And

The Northern Way, the four remaining people kind of looking at each other a different dynamic to the past we've had so far as they experience life on the road to Goblin Town and as Emerald and Raines experiences a bit of life back in the metropolitan city of Goldview. That's what we're going to leave it for this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop.

That was kind of what happened to Alpha. I told you to write a thing. And if you've got any ideas for the types of class A drugs that we should make Alpha do in next week's episode, how can we contact the podcast to tell them how much cocaine that Alpha should snort?
