Avatar
3 Plays5 minutes ago

Nestled in The Guilded Anchor, Rok ventures out to send correspondence to his family in Highridge Haven. The rest decide on a best course of action whilst Garrick discovers his link to Rif'a. Meanwhile, Falco reminds the group of his wishes to hold court over the biggest and best fighting arenas in Wildheart and bring in piles and piles of gold… in the name of Vatinis, of course. The group decide to visit the city barracks to learn about 'The Dwarven Situation', Rif'a ties her shoes too much, Falco almost pukes and Garrick sends a letter to a very good friend. Then if this wasn't enough, chaos then breaks out in the Glowmoss Market.

00:01:41
Speaker
Now, let's dive in. Before anything else can happen, I think we remember Drift had fallen asleep at the top of the feet, as he tends to do like a dog, at the feet of um of Rock, and between Rock and Drift, with everyone kind of sat around the table. ah Rock quite abruptly stands up and and ah announces to you all that he needs to quickly go and send a letter to back home, and he'll be back soon.
00:02:09
Speaker
to he'll He'll be staying at the tavern and he'll be back and we'll meet you in the morning. He's just got some important letters to send off before tomorrow's excitement begins. And he quickly makes his way off um after eating yet another meal and makes his way up and out we'll meet you all very soon.
00:02:29
Speaker
Drift comes to after about an hour's worth of napping on the floor. He kind of cricks his neck and kind of sits up and leeryly looks at you all and kind of just takes you all in for a second, smiles and says, what's plan?
00:02:48
Speaker
That's a good question. ah feel like I ah need to pray.
00:02:57
Speaker
Okay. I also feel like, Reefer, I should stick with you, act as your paladin of protection, given, well, your father.
00:03:19
Speaker
That's a very and you'll very I kind of give him a look at how unsubtle he's being.
00:03:32
Speaker
And...
00:03:37
Speaker
I am very mighty in the field of the Paladin. I would serve you honorably and with my life if it requires.

The Role of Friendship and Glory

00:03:48
Speaker
Falco here can kind of speak for my attributes.
00:03:53
Speaker
I'm actually trying to go a bit more under the radar. I'm not sure paladin knight with me will help with that. um What about me?
00:04:04
Speaker
As Garak stands up in his clanky armor, suggests that wouldn't keep a low profile.
00:04:14
Speaker
and
00:04:18
Speaker
Your height? no and Yes, I understand that. I am quite tall, especially for a human. never reason why I would make for a good protector, but I understand your conundrum.
00:04:33
Speaker
Perhaps if you were to act more as a friend rather than a protector, I don't really need protection. friend?
00:04:45
Speaker
friend?
00:04:48
Speaker
How does that differ? A friend protects another friend, right?
00:05:00
Speaker
They do. Okay, I shall be your paladin protector friend.
00:05:08
Speaker
ah Thank you. You're very welcome. Where would you like to go
00:05:14
Speaker
Actually, um Would you be willing to head to the city barracks for me? Indeed. i wish to know what the latest news on the dwarven situation is, but i'm I'm in a bit of a situation at the moment, and I i can't go there myself.
00:05:35
Speaker
Fear not, I shall. of ah We shall, as Garrick looks to Falco. Wait, wait, hang on a second. Why is everything changing, all of us? I thought that we were going to stick together and we were going to tour all the big stadiums and and win some big fights and make some money together.
00:05:51
Speaker
In the name of the team. Yes, of course. ah Apologies, a refer Falco speeds correctly. um As I serve for Tina's, I ah do so and try and bring glory to her name. But also given your lineage, it's important that I uphold my honor for the
00:06:19
Speaker
Stonewatch garrison.
00:06:24
Speaker
Hang on a second. Maybe we but Look, not a lot gets past me, but there's two things that I've picked up on here. You said something about her father. You just said something about her lineage. You see, is she a big deal? Is she like someone that we need to be concerned about?
00:06:42
Speaker
Garrett leans in close to you, but speaks at the same volume. Yes. Yes.

Reefer's Mysterious Identity

00:06:49
Speaker
I'll like, slow motion, just turn my head like a puppet towards Reefer, eyes wide.
00:06:56
Speaker
Oh! and what What are you? Are you all like a like a lady or something? no, I'm... No. Don't be A princess?
00:07:07
Speaker
No. That's ridiculous. A queen? No. Yeah, I mean, look, lookia you're not a princess or a queen. So what are you? i i'm I'm just a soldier. I'm i'm nothing.
00:07:19
Speaker
Soldier? so who's your father? does It doesn't matter who my father is. Well, look, if we're going to be providing protection for you, like You're not providing protection from me.
00:07:31
Speaker
For me. What? I thought that we were going to be protection friends. No. Friendship. Just friends, friends. Paladin protection friendship. What was it you were saying?
00:07:42
Speaker
ppf
00:07:46
Speaker
A service that we provide for a small fee. But we are withhold the fee for this time.
00:07:57
Speaker
In the name of Fetinas. in the Who is this Fetinas that you keep going on about? The almighty God.
00:08:08
Speaker
Protector of wild art and all life.

City Barracks and Bioluminescent Night

00:08:15
Speaker
I should probably have known that, right?
00:08:19
Speaker
I assume you're keeping a low profile.
00:08:24
Speaker
And that's why
00:08:30
Speaker
surprises you because you're playing a part to which I don't know the ins and outs of and Garak's head and face starts to scrunch up as if his brain is working overtime as to why reefer doesn't know who Fatinus is I feel the need to pray
00:08:53
Speaker
and trying to change the ah subject um and kind of move it away from talk about who she is. She's going to say to Falco, what were you saying you were going to do earlier about you were going participate in fights or watch a fight?
00:09:20
Speaker
a yeah Well, I wouldn't personally participate, but the the Knight of Stone and Stars, he will be touring the the kingdom soon, and we're going to be reaping in the gold in the name of the team.
00:09:34
Speaker
ah how How does that work? Well, you know, there's various tournaments. and and jousts and challenges that appear all over the place. And I mean, like all you gotta do is you gotta find a flyer or you gotta find just, you know, you just talk to people in the pubs and the inns and eventually, you know, you find the right place. A but like a bit like arm wrestling.
00:09:59
Speaker
I mean, I think it's a bit more intense than arm wrestling generally. We're talking like weapons, armor, horses, creatures, fire.
00:10:10
Speaker
water, all the elements. That does sound rather fun. Oh yeah, yeah, it can be. but I mean, but I guess it's the same kind of appeal of for you guys coming in to do this, this tidal surge thing, right? But my way earns us money.
00:10:31
Speaker
But does it earn you enjoyment? Fulfillment? Oh, yeah. I mean, look, when you step out there and the crowds are roaring your name, chanting for you to divine smite the best... But why don't you do it then? Because surely they're chanting Sir Garry's name, not yours.
00:10:50
Speaker
Well, well, yeah, but... Hey, hey, look, this isn't about me. We want to know who you are. ah I'm Reefer. That's all you need to know.
00:11:01
Speaker
Reefer of... The South. The South. Okay, I'll lean into the garrick. So we know she's from the South.
00:11:12
Speaker
Any ideas whereabouts? ah She's from Cliffstone... Cliffstone... Keep. This garrick's trying real hard to keep his voice quiet.
00:11:25
Speaker
And Cliffstone Keep. That far from here?
00:11:30
Speaker
That's about a day's travel. A day? It's much further than that. It's further than that? Three days travel. Five, seven days. Six, seven. Well, I looked at the other... It depends how far you're traveling, surely, but I understand it's a medium distance from here.
00:11:53
Speaker
Why does it matter where I'm from? Well, look, I want to learn a bit about you if you're going to doing stuff with us. Well, I want to learn a bit more about you then. Alright, sure. Where are you from?
00:12:05
Speaker
Ah, it's not important. So, if you're a medium distance from here... No, no, no. No, no, no. No, no, no.
00:12:16
Speaker
That's not how it works. Look, I'm from the northern border and I'll leave it there because it's not it it's not important. It's not very interesting. Can I just get description of you, Charlie? Because I actually don't... I haven't had one of you.
00:12:30
Speaker
Yeah. i'm Sorry, I didn't give you that, did I? So he is um he is a halfling. um but I described it to the guys as essentially a what you would what would appear to you to be a human child.
00:12:45
Speaker
um probably about eight years old, wearing um a blue, like powder blue musketeer's costume with like a leather inlaid sort of duster, duster jacket, um and a wide brim blue hat with a long powder a blue feather in it. Cool. So gorgeous, he means. Just a...
00:13:12
Speaker
Yeah, holing super hot little guy. yeah from i don't know I don't know if you'd have a gauge of his age. He's probably between 30 and 50. um Maybe he's a little bit older, trying to pull off that he's little bit younger.
00:13:28
Speaker
Okay. Cool. I don't think I would have guessed that. Just from the voice? You didn't get it? No, sorry. Okay.
00:13:40
Speaker
Um, look, you're both are very pleasant people. Um, but I stood on a flaming spider earlier and i'm still a bit tired.
00:13:52
Speaker
Well, surely you just squished it. No, no, it wasn't like that face spider that you saved him from. It was a faith spider and you gave your faith. It just didn't work out. nice time but heard me man Um, look, I'm thinking about maybe heading up the bed. Did we get a room?
00:14:14
Speaker
shit think we did.
00:14:19
Speaker
Did we? I mean, I don't think we paid for it yet. do we just take it? I mean, we we saved the the the whole the the whole place from a ah terrible brawl. Yeah. Do you want Drift's pictures up? He puts he puts it would puts his hand up. but Oh, it Drift, you don't need to put your hand up. You can just speak. Yes, he does.
00:14:40
Speaker
and Isn't he at the same level as you? He's also a squire. I am... i'm pretty You don't have to put your hand up. So if he's putting his hand up, you should put your hand up. There's squires and there's senior squires and there's Falco.
00:14:55
Speaker
Thank you, Garrick. I think you said that in the wrong order, no? Senior squires, squires, then Falco. She cuts deeper than any blade that's cut me before. LAUGHTER
00:15:07
Speaker
Drift has still got his hand up at this point. Drift, and so ask your question. ah Do you want me just to go to the, to Raelic and just ask him for a couple rooms? He owes me.
00:15:21
Speaker
Oh, that would be, that would be lovely. Thank you, Drift. And just tell him it's ah coming from the messenger boy. Coming from the messenger boy?
00:15:32
Speaker
Yes, tell him the messenger boy asks. and indicate over to me when you say that. Oh, because he called you a boy. Mm-hmm. So he'll do it for cheaper because he's embarrassed.
00:15:46
Speaker
That's got job hopefully the idea. Okay. And he's going to toss her off to do that. And if you happen to watch, he will point over to ah to you, Riffa, at one point. And Relic will look and then quickly look away. And then he'll kind of look like he's trying to explain himself to Drift. Drift just kind of shrugs back.
00:16:04
Speaker
And then just at one point, Relic holds out his hand to kind of like take a coin. And Drift just out waves a finger at him. And he looks down a bit and then she nods his head.
00:16:15
Speaker
in a very mimed fashion, just for fun. And then he walks back over. Yep. And he pings a key, ping, ping, to each each of you. I've got four, but I don't know where Rock's gone, so i'll just I'll just look after his room. I'll sort his stuff out. I'll just... <unk> I don't have any stuff.
00:16:34
Speaker
I'll get the room ready for him. Where has Rock gone? He just wanted to do a thing. He said a thing with a letter, writing write write something to his mom mummy. parent. So people at home.
00:16:46
Speaker
He very important. message Yeah, he's an he's a knight. You know, they say about knights.
00:16:56
Speaker
Yeah, wait he's a knight. Yeah, like he's he's Sir Rock. Well, yeah, I think so.
00:17:06
Speaker
Don't you think he looks like one big and strong and like saves people and stuff doesn't run away. Knights don't run away.
00:17:16
Speaker
stream nice term when i got a lot i got proof yet what what kind of proficat drift stories yet story ya you get stories tell me a story stories stories in a book i got those in the book yeah got a book and in the book their stories by nights and nights that don't run away uh... let's see so alright not him and did you tell me senior squire did you see him run away when we were fighting them spiders i you know to be fair he didn't he did he ran straight into the danger and i you know i felt like i might have had a bad perception of sir rock but he ran away just now just disappeared and uh just gonna look a little bit concerned at that and he looked up to the stairs and kind of
00:18:12
Speaker
Uh, I'll ask him. Maybe he was running to to danger that was outside at the. Somewhere, I'll ask him anyway, the rooms are in and he points to the bar and then to the right of the bar and you can see there's a small wooden door there um and he says it's all the rooms are on the right. and Just then you've got a number one, two, four and just. Oh, we get a room each.
00:18:39
Speaker
Yeah. Oh. Told you he owed me one. Oh. And we killed a bunch of spiders for him, man. We... We... we Yeah, but I thought we were just going to get a couple of rooms. I mean, it's a shame we're not sharing. And I'll twiddle my feather and look at Reefer.
00:18:58
Speaker
Why?

Stealth Approaches and Dwarven Information

00:18:59
Speaker
Because then the beds are really... There's not enough room to properly sleep. Yeah, yeah. It's okay. read just Give us a key. Yeah, okay. Any hands? Hands ah a key. Okay. You're going to have the number four key. It's the furthest one.
00:19:14
Speaker
Thank you very much. And I'll hop off the bench. yeah And Sigaric, you can have number three. And I am most humbled. You can have number two. And Rockets, number one.
00:19:27
Speaker
They are in order of importance. Thank you, Drift. You're very, very welcome. I always count backwards like it's five, four, three, two, one.
00:19:41
Speaker
And then what?
00:19:44
Speaker
Nothing. Maybe that's my problem. That's really bleak.
00:19:53
Speaker
that
00:19:56
Speaker
that's all That's beautiful because that's almost that's almost philosophical. Or it's really, really dumb and it's a beautiful midline between the two.
00:20:09
Speaker
ah drift go to We shall never know. Yeah, exactly. Brift just kind of nod like, hmm, like he's trying to, the cogs are turning, he's trying to work out. Is that clever? Is it? Yeah, sounds pretty good.
00:20:21
Speaker
He kind of nods to that. Uh, but like, as I said before, last episode, like there's, I mean, just now, before I fell asleep, there's loads of like stuff still going on.
00:20:32
Speaker
The glow-moss lanterns light up in the evenings. And so like, if you guys need to go out and get anything, I can show you or I can just leave you to it. I'm pretty tired, but you know, I'm always tired. I'm a child. So like, options, options, options.
00:20:46
Speaker
Well, there's also this dwarven situation that we need to... Help. Yeah. Dwarves, man. They're the dwarven. You know?
00:20:58
Speaker
um that That would just need you to just s nip into the city barracks. The ah latest update gets sent through to all of them. So everybody knows the situation in case it changes.
00:21:14
Speaker
I'm going to the city barracks.
00:21:17
Speaker
But we are trying
00:21:21
Speaker
you can go to sleep. Oh, I don't want to miss out on anything. What if you do something great and there's no one there to record it?
00:21:30
Speaker
I can't imagine a world in which people don't see these things anymore.
00:21:36
Speaker
Patinas will watch over me. But I will enjoy your company nevertheless. That's Gary. That's pretty sweet.
00:21:48
Speaker
Thank you. Yeah, sure. Where do you want to go? Garak tries to avoid following your yawn and as he almost gets pulled into it.
00:22:03
Speaker
The city barracks. To ask about the dwarven situation. Sorry, you were talking. How rude of me. and No, i it can wait till morning.
00:22:16
Speaker
It cannot wait till morning. It can wait till morning.
00:22:22
Speaker
Unless you want to go now?
00:22:26
Speaker
I like what Drift said. There's still plenty of time. And I would like to see the lanterns. You're more than welcome to join. ah didn't know you were coming. No, well, I i ah will break off before you get too near to the barracks.
00:22:42
Speaker
I am quite a tall fellow. If you wanted to stay with, I could perhaps hide you. Gag will put his arms out to kind of fill the space to show that he could shimmy left and right like a wall and hide you.
00:23:00
Speaker
im Maybe we try that another time. You just hear this armor going chink chink chink clank clank. You would be utterly undetectable.
00:23:11
Speaker
Chink chink chink clank clank clank chink clank. i I'm sure you're as quiet as a stone. As deft rock.
00:23:24
Speaker
Rock's not here. Exactly.
00:23:32
Speaker
To the barracks.
00:23:35
Speaker
Please, guards to the barracks.
00:23:39
Speaker
right, so we're heading Drift, would you be so kind ah need just to us towards the city barracks? Yep, not problem. Come on. Come out the door and I will show you where you need to go.
00:23:52
Speaker
And I'll come with you whilst showing you where to go. And he's going to kind pit-pat up the stairs, little bare feet, you um up, up, up, up the stairs, down along the ah along the pathway and out and... um Suddenly it's quite dark actually. I think I mentioned prior to this that sunset technically isn't for probably another hour, but because of the mountainous ah topography you find yourself around, it gets dark very, very quickly because the sun goes behind the mountains and then suddenly you're plunged into darkness.
00:24:22
Speaker
And what you notice is as you look out from your kind northerly position over the city, looking down across the ravine and towards the Glowmos Market, towards, excuse me, a number of the other places, in Stormspire that many places have set up this bioluminescent light that seems to be encapsulated within these small metal kind of plinths.
00:24:44
Speaker
And as you get closer to one of them, you some of you will recognize it as Glowmoss. It's something that grows within the ravines themselves and stays luminescent pretty much all day or I assume all day or night.
00:24:58
Speaker
and Usually it seems to only have to be kind of recharged with the sun and so it kind of all perpetually has this glowing quality and holds its light ah deep into the night actually. As you look down you see these almost like the twinkling of stars, um some of them moving down below you as ah the Glowmos lanterns have been lit and are moving around.
00:25:19
Speaker
There are larger ones over specific areas so the market itself is quite well lit. ah There are other areas that seem to have quite opulent lighting. They've almost designed it to stretch up some buildings to light it in interesting ways.
00:25:32
Speaker
ah Some areas, they just have very, very big collections of glow moss to light, say the bridges, to make sure that people cross effectively without falling to their doom. So it's quite picturesque in the light-colored buildings that make up a lot of Storm Spire reflect a lot of this light as well. So it feels...
00:25:52
Speaker
very well lit actually, especially in the city centre, but you do feel almost like ah a drop in the ocean. There's this bleak blackness around you, aside for this from this kind of relatively small area of light that is storm spire in and amongst the mountains around you.
00:26:08
Speaker
It feels almost more isolated than it did during the day. But you notice there's noise, there's movement, there's people. You can hear voices, you can hear an accordion playing in the market. you can And even though it's quite far away, the echoes travel up the ravine.
00:26:22
Speaker
And the ever-present noise that that that seems to follow everyone in Wild Heart almost feels like a form of tinnitus in your ear, this constant... ah A modern example would be if you live near a motorway and you hear that constant just noise of traffic in the distance, constant, unchanging.
00:26:40
Speaker
It's that, but it's the it's the it's the it's the water somewhere. It's not necessarily in the ravine. It's somewhere within the mountains or somewhere, but it seems to resonate throughout Wild Heart, this constant a constant noise or constant reminder of the energy of the tidal surge. Not necessarily it's coming, but just that the the noise is currently currently there.
00:26:59
Speaker
Drift then takes you across... ah the bridge that's nearest to ah the gilded anchor and towards a more opulent half the town, which you did pass through on your way here.
00:27:11
Speaker
He, however, though, turns up towards the north and you notice as you look left, it's an area you haven't been before, that they're built kind of kind of've almost chiseled out of the mountain. They've kind of built a small mini fortress with two large...
00:27:27
Speaker
parapets and a small section of wall that's been kind of cut out of the stone and behind it you assume they've cut out more of it and between these are a very small pair of doors that don't need to be double doors could be a single door and you assume given that there is actual firelight outside it to torches lit instead of the glow moss that this is something slightly different and outside is a is ah what seems to be a man in or person sorry in armor stood outside um as as Drift kind of starts to get close. And Izzy realizes you know where to go, he kind of starts to back off behind slightly and allow whoever's at the front to ah to take the lead or whoever wants to take the lead. So we're probably now about 30, 40 feet away from that because and I know Rifa, you were keen not to not not to be specifically seen there. Was that your thinking?
00:28:18
Speaker
Yeah. um So as we get closer, she is... and she is go to kind of take Garrick up on his idea and he's just going to kind of slip behind him and she just kind of pulls up the collar of her coat a bit and she's going to kind of keep her head down and then
00:28:50
Speaker
um as they get a bit closer, if there's like a more shadowy area, she'll just try and slip in um and then just kind of, you know, do the classic class kind of kneel down and tie a boot lace or like fiddle with a boot just so she can kind of hear what's said but is hopefully out of kind of out of notice.
00:29:13
Speaker
This is very good roundabout way of saying, could I ask you to do a stealth check, please? That'd be all right. Am I aid?
00:29:23
Speaker
I'm sticking my arms out. Garak makes himself as big as possible. Wide. As wide as possible. Roll it with advantage then. Think wall. Think wall. Think
00:29:40
Speaker
ah Two. She's got a minus two and on Dex. Fantastic.
00:29:48
Speaker
Was that with advantage? No, it's 12 with advantage. Okay. Okay, thank you. Thanks. um So you you complete the action. I mean, obviously, I tend to always with stealth actions, you you always complete the action you think you've done, and it's whether or not... the For me, you set the... know it's not me, it's the fucking rules. You set the skill level difficulty for those who are trying to see you if they are... Well, they're passive. Anyway...
00:30:11
Speaker
So yeah, that you complete those actions, as you said, and Garrick and Falco and Drift start heading up. But Drift's kind of fallen back behind the wall now, um just to kind of, again, not to hide himself, but just to show deference.
00:30:27
Speaker
ah So out of the two of you, Falco and Garrick, who's who's leading? Are you sub-by-side or one in front of the other? Geig wouldn't naturally take any sort of note of who was leading, so happy to step behind because he don't know where the fuck he's going.
00:30:45
Speaker
i mean, it's quite obvious by this point, there's only one door and there's only one light source at this point. and You say it's obvious. person Okay, yeah.
00:30:54
Speaker
He's just walking forwards.
00:30:57
Speaker
Until being told otherwise. Falco would just probably stay his side like a child in an outing. Yep. And as you start to get close, you realise that this individual ah that's stood near the door to this is what I guess should be a guard.
00:31:16
Speaker
He has a kind of large polearm. that's leaning lazily against his shoulder. He's got one leg up on the one foot up on the wall with his knee jutting out, with his back leaning against the wall, arms arms crossed, and the pole axe is kind of leaning, pole arm, well, spear really, leaning against his arm as he lazily kind of chews on something.
00:31:35
Speaker
And he just kind of spots you and just watches you approach. So he's seen you now.
00:31:42
Speaker
Hey, buddy, is this ah this the brothel?
00:31:47
Speaker
You what? Is this the brothel? Yeah, if you've got really specific tastes. Right, okay, cool. Swing the door open, we're coming in.
00:31:59
Speaker
At that point, it's quite... um I imagine you're quite close by that point. There is a slight... fluidity to his movements all of a sudden as in quite a quick flash the spear slips from relaxed position into into his into a ready hand. not Not pointing at you but just kind of in his hand.
00:32:17
Speaker
The legs come down and he's now stood upright. i was joking. Do you not know jokes? Yeah. yeah but i Buddy, I'm just yanking your chain. I know where we are. This is the barracks. This is the place to be.
00:32:28
Speaker
We literally just want to get inside and then have a little look around. Why? Because, because we have a friend who is very important in the military and she wants to get inside.
00:32:43
Speaker
Could you roll a as persuasion? Persuasion or deception, whatever you feel. Well, no, it's not. you're not deceiving. Well, it's your call. If it matters to do my deception. because it's a bit more i'll think
00:32:58
Speaker
four
00:33:03
Speaker
He looks back at you, will tell your friend, maybe there's a different brothel she should go to. And his eyebrows just lift. um In whichever direction the reefer is, I'll look over my shoulder that way.
00:33:17
Speaker
and We're not getting there, he says go to another brothel.
00:33:24
Speaker
you You kind of just see the outline of a kind of like tense up and then she just keeps tying her shoelace.
00:33:36
Speaker
Garrick, I don't think she can tie knots. ah yeah Yes, maybe. I don't know. Garrick's looking straight ahead, acting like a proverbial wall.
00:33:48
Speaker
um it So we're not allowed in, he says over to the pole arm. I didn't say that.
00:34:01
Speaker
So we are not a brothel. Why ask what your business is?
00:34:07
Speaker
to find out about the dwarven situation. And then Garak opens his eyes wide as if that's a ah known thing to say and expects a nod of understanding from Polearm.
00:34:27
Speaker
Polearm gives a nod of understanding. ah we go and then garic will then nod in return and if polearm keeps nodding garic will nod in response polearm keeps nodding then we're on a nod off uh polearm will stop eventually garic won't He's like one of those fucking dashboards with the sun top of it. It's like the flower that you get in the start of the car or something, and it's just constantly dancing in the sunlight. With the little solo panel thing. Yeah.
00:35:02
Speaker
Polam's going to furrow his brow and look towards Falco. Is he all right? ah Oh, yes. um Yeah. he um You know what? I greased up his armor around the neck.
00:35:16
Speaker
So it's just probably quite loose and he's just enjoying it. i wouldn't Don't worry about it. no No. Is Drift near enough, like near to me?
00:35:27
Speaker
Whereabouts is he? He's probably about, i imagine you're about 15 feet away from this, kind of off to the side in the shadows. He still stood directly behind Garrick um and he will be slipping between looking at you and then looking at um them. So he he he knows where you are. he can he He's looking directly at you. So you haven't lost him in your stealthy ways. Yeah. Because he's making direct eye contact with you for a second and looking back and kind of peeking around and then looking back towards you.
00:35:56
Speaker
So he knows where you are. and When um he next looks at me, I'm just going to beck him beckon him over to me. Yep, okay. he um He understands the signal and then quickly kind of scuttles out and scuttles over.
00:36:09
Speaker
is he doing it subtle way? Yes. um He moves almost silently, quietly towards you. And he's like, comes up, but he bumps into a little bit on on the approach. He's a little bit close to you.
00:36:20
Speaker
Yeah. All right. Drift, would you mind doing Falco's job for him and announcing Sir Garak properly for his full title because he is a knight and he trained with the military. He will be allowed access just from his name alone.
00:36:38
Speaker
Just from his name alone, it'd be allowed access. Got it. Yes. Thank you. Shall I ask for money? No. I'll ask for money. i'll ask No. block and Okay, fine.
00:36:49
Speaker
He's going to shuffle up behind and you'll see him stand behind Garrick and you'll see him kind of gesture a few times with his hands and like pretend to talk to himself a few times and then kind of slap his cheeks a little bit.
00:37:01
Speaker
kind of hype himself up and then he's going to walk between the legs of Garrick the wall and appear in front this boy and is going to say may I introduce to you knight of the stone stars sir Garrick Bladeheart and he's going to gesture up towards um ah Garrick He, but on his name alone, should be allowed entry, and I am not supposed to ask you for money.
00:37:33
Speaker
And he nods and then walks off behind. Polearm looks down at the boy, watches him walk away, looks up towards Garrick.
00:37:47
Speaker
ah Knight of stone and...
00:38:13
Speaker
all the lads are out at the moment so um yeah be my guest well i say all the large sergeants and
00:38:22
Speaker
As we walk by, Garak's going to, because he's aware he's got Reefer behind him, so he's going to walk. Reefer's not behind you. She's staying outside. She's in the shadow. She's not risking going in.
00:38:37
Speaker
So as Garak walks towards the door, he he still thinks that Reefer is behind him. So we'll... kind of walk towards the door until the point of view of polearm gets real close and he will then lock eyes with polearm and shimmy so his back faces the door until it opens and he kind of hears footsteps from Falco or Drift go through and then he's going to awkwardly
00:39:08
Speaker
walk backwards through the open door, looking at Polarm the entire time, nodding his head. Polarm will be looking back the entire time and with a slightly um confused a but quizzical look on his face, we'll keep nodding back to him.
00:39:23
Speaker
um His kind of like short cropped brown hair and little mustache he's got kind of just kind of glinting in the moss light as you kind of, Bob, Bob, Bob, he's still kind of grinning at you as you go past.
00:39:35
Speaker
May Fatinas grant you strength. What? Keeps walking backwards. May Vatinas grant you strength. Vatinas! Grant you strength!
00:39:48
Speaker
Cheers! And he's going to return to his ah place. I like to think his name is actually Polarm.
00:39:56
Speaker
He has a family. Kids. He has a whole life. He's studying for a new... No, he's... Pro Force! Pro Force! You walk down a sta sandy, thin, sandy corridor with one or two blimps of light on the side. This is Glowmos internally because the corridor is quite narrow, one person at a time.
00:40:15
Speaker
And it very quickly ends and juts out as you pass through the wall of this garrison or barracks, if you will, into a central space, which seems to be a large cavern that's been part etched out, part natural.
00:40:29
Speaker
and is very well lit again with a mixture of candles and glow moss for certain areas and it is it's a it's a massive mix of a small area for weaponry there's a anvil with some sharpening tools in one corner there's a series of uh of the cots beds in in another corner a kind of a cooking station that sits in the middle with a fire that's burning and a single figure currently sat uh next to it uh from her current position looks pale ah in the in the in the firelight that you can see in the central area. There's a number of benches around with a couple of ah kind of empty ale mugs nearby as she warms her hands near the fire.
00:41:09
Speaker
The rest of the space is is very quiet, but you can hear the slight dripping of water somewhere off in the distance.
00:41:17
Speaker
ah She hasn't seen you at this point, sorry. Uh... Reefer, do you want to... take the... lead on this? As Garrick looks around...
00:41:29
Speaker
looks to Falco. Where'd she go? Who? Reefer. I thought she was with you. whether thought she was behind you. is that thought I thought she was behind me too. I was doing the whole wall thing.
00:41:40
Speaker
Fuck, maybe you did it too well and she fucking disappeared.
00:41:46
Speaker
Fuck. eva Reefer! Reefer! Drift, what you do with Reefer? What? I don didn't do anything. She's over there. She's outside. need to talk. If you ever fucking do that again, I swear to God I was... What did Where's she gone?
00:42:02
Speaker
She was tying her shoes still. remember She was still tying her shoes? You said she couldn't do knots. How old is she? Three? don't know.
00:42:14
Speaker
Maybe she didn't want to come in. Maybe she just really struggles with knots. You know I tried them for a while, so I just preferred not wearing any shoes. Right, okay, cool. Right, so we're here. We're in Great. What do we do now?
00:42:26
Speaker
what do We need to find out about the dwarven situation. Oh, oh yeah, yeah, shit. Oh yeah, I forgot about it. Let's find about the dwarves then. ah Can you see any? No, but I'm relatively tall.
00:42:41
Speaker
Ah, yeah, hang on.
00:42:45
Speaker
Yeah? Drift, at your eye level right now, can you see any dwarves?
00:42:51
Speaker
Uh... He's going look around. No. But they are made of stone, aren't they?
00:42:59
Speaker
Are they? Uh... Yeah, of course. of course they're made of stone. They could be the They could be the walls. Oh.
00:43:12
Speaker
Maybe it's dwarves. you're a pretty good wall. I don't want them to come out of the walls.
00:43:19
Speaker
Are we looking for the same dwarves here? a we're We're talking about statues, right? Must be. else did she mean? Dwarven statues. And the dwarven statues, are they like, you know, are they to scale?
00:43:32
Speaker
Or are we talking like grand dwarven statues? We're looking for like a 12-foot fucking dwarf. And if you make a really big statue of a dwarf, is it still a dwarf? Is this the situation that she was talking about that we need to find out?
00:43:43
Speaker
How big are the dwarves? Is that the situation? I think that's the situation. Okay, well, let's find out how big these fucking dwarves are and get the hell out of here. Yeah. Because they're really big, that'd be really scary.
00:43:55
Speaker
Yeah, and tough to handle as well. Right, um, can I just look around for a dwarf statue? Absolutely. Give me a perception check. Oh, Seven.
00:44:11
Speaker
Your current position betrays no dwarven statues, giant or otherwise. Your current position doesn't mean... you You can't see any from your current account.
00:44:22
Speaker
Okay. I can't see shit. It's super dark in here. The glow mask isn't as bright as it should be. and Anyone got a torch? No. Oh, yeah, some fucking squire you are. No torch. That's... Where's your torch?
00:44:39
Speaker
My torch? Well, I was going to go to bed, so I put it in the bedroom back in the inn, didn't i Oh, your bed torch, yeah. Yeah, my bed torch, just in case I want to do some fucking reading tonight. Suck your little kid.
00:44:53
Speaker
i've At that last comment, Saki little kid, the the um pale figure in the light ah in the story in the firelight in the center of the room just kind of tilt her head around from a position, kind of look towards the entrance. You are in darkness where you can't really stand.
00:45:08
Speaker
You can see little patches of light on where these things are, but you actually are kind of stood in darkness at the moment. She kind looks over and says,
00:45:20
Speaker
Sarge, is that you?
00:45:25
Speaker
and waits for a response.
00:45:31
Speaker
Oh. Yes.
00:45:34
Speaker
What? Garak Bladeheart. Paladin of Clifestone Keep.
00:45:43
Speaker
Oh, you ain't Sarge at all, are you?
00:45:48
Speaker
No. Well, come sit down. Okay. We're in.
00:45:56
Speaker
Due to my highly intellect and deft deception. Who are you talking to? Are you talking to yourself? That's fine if you are. No, I'm talking to him.
00:46:08
Speaker
Garak points at Falco. ah yeah Yeah, me. He was talking to me. And I'll approach with him. Come on in. Sit down. um So you you're not the dwarf, are you?
00:46:24
Speaker
No, no, I'm elf. And as you get closer, you you do see this quite, ah for an elf, quite young. i would almost look like a teenager to to ah those not au fait with the elven culture.
00:46:38
Speaker
ah With kind of short-cropped white hair, very, very pale skin, but very, very intensely ah dark eyes. um you can take from her demeanor and voice that you you you might assume she was female, but she's not dressed like a soldier. She's just got on ah what looks like kind of an adventurous color coat, a dark leather, leather kind of skinned coat with a white undershirt, black trousers and i'm quite, what look like quite expensive shoes, but expensive because of use as opposed to opulence.
00:47:14
Speaker
They seem highly, almost like boots. They seem, different you know, different.
00:47:21
Speaker
Okay. sit down. What you doing down here? We want to find out about... And wide eyes again. Looks behind him, even though it's pitch black.
00:47:33
Speaker
that The dwarven situation. Okay. What you want to know about it?
00:47:43
Speaker
Fuck. I...
00:47:47
Speaker
I don't know. you want an update? Yes. Yeah. Yeah, an update. So, as far as I'm aware, ah they still haven't crossed the border, but there's... ah We've got some people down there that reckon they might over... Oh.
00:48:06
Speaker
Oh, sorry, I got real bad cough. It echoed then, didn't it? Flippin' heck. But yeah, they haven't crossed the border.
00:48:18
Speaker
They're amassing... Doesn't look promising. They ain't moved yet. and We've got a couple of things in the pipeline, if you know what i mean. Those ravines, those ah those thin paths, north and south, they sometimes fail, don't they? So we're doing our best, but it's it's it's going to happen. That's what we know.
00:48:40
Speaker
Yes, it's going to happen. What is that exactly? And at that her expression will drop slightly and the small kind of ah bone that she's been kind of chewing on the meat off, like a chicken bone or something, she flicks it into the fire and looks you directly in the eye.
00:49:02
Speaker
War.
00:49:04
Speaker
War is coming to Wild Heart.
00:49:08
Speaker
Maybe not now. Maybe not in six months. But it'll happen.
00:49:19
Speaker
The dwarves will come. They'll come for the land they cover. I know it.
00:49:27
Speaker
I assume that's what you mean by the dwarven situation. That's every single thing that we mean about the dwarven situation. Now we've got a good thing going down south. Cliffs don't keep some of the other areas down there. They've got some good stuff going on. So the March North, if and when they start, it won't be easy for them.
00:49:48
Speaker
We've got a few things up our sleeves, from what I've heard. I am just a courier. That's all I do. I pass messages back and forth. um At the moment, my journey goes one way to the capital and then to the south and then back up here and on repeat.
00:50:06
Speaker
And then they're here. If there's a war to be fought, you can be sure that Clifestone Keep will do its part. The Stonewatch Garrison...
00:50:18
Speaker
With the aid of Fatenus, we'll help keep the dwarves at bay. Well, ah we know for a fact, so the talk is anyway, we know Cliffstone won't fall.
00:50:30
Speaker
The walls are strong, and we've got Shelmer. Simple, so that ain't gonna fall. It's just some of the other areas we're more worried about. You know, a long protracted siege.
00:50:43
Speaker
You know, doesn't bode well.
00:50:48
Speaker
Anyway, that's as far as I got. That's what I've got so far. I'm heading back down in another day or two and see what's going on there. I know they're sending people over the border.
00:51:00
Speaker
They've got some agreement with people to try and infiltrate, etc. But I don't know how successful it's being. All the factions just fucking won't agree with each other.
00:51:13
Speaker
We can't see heads or tails, but the whole of the high jade-hard lands are of one mind. They covered the North.
00:51:22
Speaker
They want the surge.
00:51:27
Speaker
Unless something changes, Wild Heart will fall.
00:51:33
Speaker
But hey, can't do anything about it tonight, can we? and Like I said, I might be wrong, but there is a massive force of dwarves forming up in their northern kingdoms.
00:51:48
Speaker
I've seen it. I've seen it. I went there. I wonder out i went south of the border. I went there with a mate. And, yeah, it's there. Big encampment. Thousands. Big machinery.
00:52:02
Speaker
Surgeon-fused siege equipment. ah don't know how they got their hands on that. They haven't got it down there. It's just us.
00:52:12
Speaker
It didn't look good.
00:52:16
Speaker
I have a defensive idea. If you imagine like a long pathway, the dwarves at the bottom and us at the top and the dwarves are running towards you.
00:52:33
Speaker
Picture a big boulder and everyone pushing it as it careers down the hill towards the dwarves.
00:52:46
Speaker
Yeah. yeah many a soul would be given towards for tina satay if you catch my drift which is i mean i'm not drift didn't think of that the echo laughs from the doorway the that is just but one idea that the garrison
00:53:08
Speaker
of stonewatch can provide Yeah, I mean, I've seen i've seen the defenses. I've you know i've seen the onagers. I've seen the stuff you've got down there. Have you seen the boulders?
00:53:20
Speaker
Yeah. We've got big boulders. um Yeah, I mean, it's ah it's a good it's a good way to slow it down. That's why I think it will still take a while. And, you know, they will lose a lot of souls, let's see, friends, to Fatinas.
00:53:33
Speaker
um Given upon Fatinas, Fatinas will bless them. They will find purpose once they've passed on.
00:53:41
Speaker
yeah Yeah, okay, sure. yeah um But that's that's the dwarven problem, that's or the salute the the issue. that's the ah Sorry, I forgot the wording you had, but yeah, that's that's what's gone on.
00:53:55
Speaker
That's what i know so far. it's It's terrifying, people. The the you know capitals in... It's not a good way at the moment. Because there's so much... you know
00:54:10
Speaker
There's just so much coughing going on. There's just so much uncertainty. It's the dust in here. You really should get someone to clean it. It's the glow mask, man. It needs some new stuff, I think. Anyway, the yeah yeah capital's not in a good way, so well i can't stop this cough, this child coughing. Drift.
00:54:29
Speaker
Drift's there. Coughing in the back. crime Sorry, its just I'll step outside. And, um, I fucking can't go on anymore. Uh, the, uh, yeah, she kind of just shrugs her shoulders and continues looking back at the fire and then reaches into a satchel and pulls out some dried, dried fish and kind of takes a bite out of it and kind of offers, offers it without looking to, to you towards Garrick and towards Falco.
00:54:53
Speaker
Take the fish, take the fish.
00:54:57
Speaker
Um, thank you. and I'll take the fish. Blessings be upon you. Yeah. Thanks. You too. May the surge guide you.
00:55:08
Speaker
May Vatinus guide you. Well, may the surge, you know, guide you better, so. And may Vatinus ever shine a light upon you. Yeah. And the path that you walk. With each footstep taken.
00:55:23
Speaker
Day by day. She smiles. Hour by hour.
00:55:28
Speaker
The smoke still gets everywhere, really, at the moment. Uh,
00:55:36
Speaker
She coughs one more time. I would have gone yesterday, but as you can tell, I've still got this this flu or cold thing that's sat on me, so the sergeant said I could camp here until I'm ready to go back down.
00:55:48
Speaker
You want messages down while I'm here? Silver piece?
00:55:55
Speaker
Tell them not to lose hope.
00:56:00
Speaker
ah Tell who, and who am i delivering it to?
00:56:07
Speaker
ah commander Don't lose hope to the commander who is called... Billy. Commander Billy.
00:56:20
Speaker
Don't lose hope from... Garrick. Bladeheart. Garrick, Bladeheart, to Billy. And she's been writing this and goes, and then while she's still writing, the rest of the message actually holds out a palm ah towards you, not looking at it, but you're looking down towards the small scrap of parchment she's writing the message on.
00:56:42
Speaker
And Garrick will, oh God, ah Garrick will see the open palm. And oh yeah, of of of course. um And grasp the open palm and cast Bless.

Reefer's Investigation and Family Secrets

00:56:55
Speaker
And ah for for up to one minute, she's blessed. This like golden light will just ah emanate between the palms as Garak kind of puts his head down.
00:57:13
Speaker
And the blessings of Fortunus will guide you and light your way, if only for one minute. And withdraw the hand.
00:57:25
Speaker
the ah She quickly pulls her hand away at that and sees that that that glowing light still kind of on her hands. And you do you notice the slightly slumped position she did have prior to that.
00:57:36
Speaker
Her back's slightly straighter. The cough dissipates slightly as well as she kind of looks at herself a little confused. You've just been touched by the divine. Thank you.
00:57:53
Speaker
I think. oh It was after the silver, but, you know. Oh, my apologies. My cold feels better, so, you know, I'll go with that. That's fine. I can set off earlier then. that You know, every day I'm laying here there is one less day of me making money.
00:58:10
Speaker
You know, you won't catch me sitting down. Not for long, anyway. Uh, Garak starts to look around to see if he's got any coins. Uh, I don't have a silver, but I do have a gold. Will that be sufficient?
00:58:22
Speaker
That would be too much. I can't accept that. but I don't have anything else. I've got change.
00:58:29
Speaker
ah Not for a gold, though. Sorry.
00:58:35
Speaker
So just take the gold? No, it's too much. Let me do it. And, uh, next time you see me, uh, you can do another message and then I'll take your gold. Very well.
00:58:46
Speaker
Billy will be inundated. Billy. Commander. Of the Stonewatch Garrison, Billy. Big Billy.
00:58:58
Speaker
Is this the same Billy, surname, Shellmayor? Is that that's who we're talking about, Commander Shellmayor? Is that who we're aiming this actually towards? Yeah?
00:59:11
Speaker
Yes, but when we're playing cards, he likes to be called Billy. Billy, okay. Big Billy. Big Billy Shellmare. I'll just pop that on the note for you. Big Billy Shellmare.
00:59:23
Speaker
And she half knows you're pulling, but she's going to write it anyway. I don't even know what he's doing.
00:59:32
Speaker
Don't lose hope. Big Billy Shellmare. Garrick Bladeheart. Sound good? I feel like we've garnered everything we can.
00:59:45
Speaker
Alright. I'll be here if you change your mind and you've got any other more and messages to send down, but I'll probably head out first thing in the morning before the surge, the tidal surge, kicks in. Everything goes a bit crazy then.
00:59:59
Speaker
Well, yeah, we're saying to watch we're in the surge. Her face drops at that. Well, I won't be having any repeat customers then, will I? Why?
01:00:10
Speaker
You're more than likely to die. They have told you that, haven't they? Ha! With Fertina's on my side, we won't be perishing in some water.
01:00:24
Speaker
ah she Her eyes kind of twinkle that. Have you been to a tidal surge before? No, but I have had a bath. Same thing, yeah? Yes.
01:00:36
Speaker
Water. I suspect I won't be allowed to wear my armor, though. What, in the bath? In the surge. I think they'll let you wear whatever
01:00:49
Speaker
you like. Oh, really? Well, there's no limits. can just do what you like. I mean, the big thing you've got to worry about isn't really the wave from the ones I've watched. and I've watched 20, 30 of them. The big thing you need to watch for are the other teams, really.
01:01:09
Speaker
Because they try and kill you. That's the thing. The wave tries to kill you. They try to kill you. He who dares wins. The first one that I am. Best prize. It sounds like you have knowledge about the surge.
01:01:24
Speaker
Yes. And those who jumping. um Any advice? ah don't do it and if you're going to do it don't trust anyone else apart from your group and if you do trust your group don't trust anyone in your group but if you still do it anyway go quick go fast try and we did well it was that Jay Oli he did pretty well
01:01:57
Speaker
He tends to go fast and feather fall, but others are quick with ropes. You can get some chalk, there's a special chalk they use, surge chalk or tidal chalk, there's some derivative name of it.
01:02:09
Speaker
It helps with the ropes, it means you can you can slide down without burning your hands. Something like that might be useful. It's about to get down first. But but i've again, I've seen people with ropes and then they've had their ropes cut and they fall and die and then I've seen people with feather fall and not quaff in time and then splat.
01:02:30
Speaker
So it's just about timing and luck. Lots and lots of luck. Thank you very much. um Where did this Jet Li jump from?
01:02:42
Speaker
and a few places he moves around but in the surge you can jump from different levels yes I think yeah I can't remember I don't remember really hmm it makes sense to jump lower
01:03:05
Speaker
closer the the big thing the big thing you got to remember is when you when you get to one of these and you look down it's aglow and the areas that are most aglow means the most amount of treasure
01:03:18
Speaker
so if you have the most amount of treasure that's the most highly inerted infused part of the of of the ravine so everyone aims for that and so if you get there first you get first dibs and you pick the best and you make the most money But then it's getting out as well, where the other team's there.
01:03:37
Speaker
And it's a free-for-all. Now, 10 to the ones I've watched, 50% mortality on the way down. So what's this the moor, I assume, nearby?
01:03:48
Speaker
that where you're jumping from?
01:03:51
Speaker
Yes. Cool. Then yes, probably about four or five teams, including yourselves. Three of them will die on the way down. one will probably hit the wave, some of the walls, some by fighting.
01:04:03
Speaker
you do get down, two other teams, so ten other people, aside from you, ah you know, and those you scale up, then it ends. So it depends, really.
01:04:15
Speaker
depends your strategy.
01:04:18
Speaker
I think we've done quite well here. We found out about the Dwarven situation and the Tidal Surge situation.
01:04:28
Speaker
Is this to me?
01:04:31
Speaker
Oh, sorry. Sometimes I run into a monologue in my head. Yeah, okay. No, that's fine. I understand that. I do a lot of time running, so i understand that. Falco, what's your thoughts?
01:04:41
Speaker
Uh... I mean, there's a lot to take in in ten minutes. I, Garak, I don't want to go to war.
01:04:53
Speaker
I don't think the surge is the war. Well, I mean, it's not a good start, is it? the Even if we do survive tomorrow, we got the prospect of what sounds like millions of dwarves waiting over the top of that hill.
01:05:08
Speaker
I hear what you're saying. War is...
01:05:14
Speaker
There's not many words to describe war.
01:05:18
Speaker
But sometimes... have you been war, Sir Garrick?
01:05:25
Speaker
should ask that with sincerity, just out of interest.
01:05:31
Speaker
Would Clifestone Keep have been at war in Garrick's lifetime?
01:05:37
Speaker
Nope. But there were skirmishes at the Hentus border, skirmishes with dwarves. There's never been a full-on war, but there's been amount of battles. In his mind, yes.
01:05:49
Speaker
There's been battles. Yeah. Okay, and she'll she'll she'll nod to that and not not probe any deeper and just kind of give you a ah respectful nod to that.
01:06:00
Speaker
Sometimes
01:06:03
Speaker
it you it fuels by necessity.
01:06:09
Speaker
And I feel like we were meant to come across this information for ourselves, not just for reefer.
01:06:21
Speaker
We might have a part to play the gods work in mysterious ways. And for Tina's is probably given us a sign. That might not mean that we go to war.
01:06:33
Speaker
There's something inside in here. And Garak points to his tummy is saying that we probably will.
01:06:44
Speaker
Or we might die in the tidal surge, so maybe not.
01:06:51
Speaker
Oh, OK. Well, there's a lot to take in.
01:06:58
Speaker
Right. We done here. You found out about the dwarves. You found out that we're going to die. If not tomorrow, sometime in the next year. ah My friend here needs needs.
01:07:09
Speaker
need some fresh air. I got to get out Also some positive words. Could you just explain to him the gold at the bottom of the surge? app there's There was one Jaolien with his first dive came up with some plate mail armor that we believe had been down there for maybe 50 years, possibly older.
01:07:35
Speaker
Some say it might even date back to New Garton when it was first formed here in Wild Heart. The armor made him possibly the third or fourth richest person in Aerith.
01:07:48
Speaker
Oh, shit. As in kingdom-wide, he some say it was 100,000 gold pieces he sold that armor for. Some say it was more.
01:07:59
Speaker
Some say it was a kingdom. i could 100,000? Oh, okay. All right, yeah. I'm starting to see that the the risk might be worth it. And correct me if I'm wrong, would that increase the chances of boobs for my friend as well?
01:08:14
Speaker
Yeah, what would would it? She's going to lean in very solemnly and say, there are no boobs in the title search.
01:08:26
Speaker
yeah Well, it's just shit nose after shit nose.
01:08:34
Speaker
I mean, everyone's there for business. There's no time for boobs. She's saying this is like 100% sincerity as well. is Garrick. So is Garrick. so it's gar
01:08:48
Speaker
I'm sorry to bring bad news to you.
01:08:55
Speaker
All right. Okay. Well, this is, yeah, it's a lie. Yeah. I'm sure you can agree even though you're, a you know, what why what are you like? A scout or something?
01:09:06
Speaker
A courier. Yeah. Well, I do some scouting as well.
01:09:12
Speaker
Um,
01:09:16
Speaker
Garrick, I'm sorry buddy, I gotta get outside and get some air here. Maybe we could find this invisible woman that just keeps fucking disappearing. Certainly. Thank you for your time. You're welcome.
01:09:28
Speaker
And good luck tomorrow, if fin indeed it does arrive tomorrow.
01:09:33
Speaker
I hope so. I don't want to have a bar fight like that. Like what? oh I'm not gonna ask. Have a good evening. It was another war.
01:09:44
Speaker
And Gaurat will give a nod at that and walk off.
01:09:49
Speaker
ah Drift will, again, look a bit confused and then follow behind the wall um and make ah follow follow you. The wall, like some shitty wrestler name. But imagine you're still walking like a wall. Introducing the wall. oh The wall.
01:10:06
Speaker
He's finishing me bricking it. Oh, yeah, nice. um So are you hiding heading out?
01:10:16
Speaker
Yes, but because it's pitch black, we're still, I'd imagine, hearing the clanging of bumping into the walls every now and then. Ow!
01:10:25
Speaker
Until we find the door. Yeah, and he managed to do back turn, and just about after a couple of padded footsteps, make your way out of the space and into the um slightly salty, despite being miles and miles away from the coast, the slightly salty, naturally salty air, and the roar of the ravine again.
01:10:44
Speaker
and to fresh moving air again, which I think from the side of things is what Falco was looking for. Yeah, as soon as we get to that fresh air, I'll collapse on all fours and just like start breathing super heavy.
01:10:58
Speaker
hey
01:11:06
Speaker
That's my character. like fuck i um What's wrong? Do you need another kiss of life? No, no, no, no. I'm good. I'm good. I'm just going to shake it off. Shake it off. Okay. okay Oh, right.
01:11:20
Speaker
ah Next on the list of things to do. Drift. Drift. and Where's your, where's your mistress? Mo? ah What's that? Reefa. Reefa. Where is she?
01:11:32
Speaker
I thought she was with you. way, was she still in there? She, what, did she think she was with us? Well, don't know, she was in there, she was over there, and he points to where Reefer was last before they went in. Reefer's, she's still there, but her her boots, you know, like one of those bows you get at Christmas where there's just got multiple, multiple loops.
01:11:56
Speaker
Like her have boots now have these most elaborately tied laces. So that os overly tied. Yeah. Amazing. And then Drift point over. she She was over there.
01:12:08
Speaker
Oh, she's still there. She's there. And then we'll point with purpose.
01:12:15
Speaker
Um, Garic, do you want to do the honors? Yes, of course. And we'll just walk over to you, clanking metal, and in the middle of the street, right write where you are, tell you everything.
01:12:30
Speaker
And so the regaling of the organ problem, the regaling of the defense of Clifestone Keep, the reason why it won't fall. the regaling of the boulder idea as an excellent way to stop the dwarves. There's probably a good 10, 15 minutes explaining, I imagine.
01:12:48
Speaker
Literally, he'd start marking out and the thursday you stand at the top here and then you've got to imagine that this is like downhill. It's really hard on a level plane, but this is downhill. And then the dwarves would walk uphill and on like a count, five, four, three, two, one, you push the boulder down.
01:13:06
Speaker
You really do count backwards, don't you And that's why. Because that's what happened at the end. and Lovely. Yeah, and then you go through that process. You go through the the information about the tidal surge and the surge diving that was attached to that, the advice you gave, the the chalk that you can get, the ropes, the way people de descend quickly with feather fall, the attacks, the fact that it's kind of a free-for-all as you go down, where best to look for treasure.
01:13:38
Speaker
and um and everything in between that you've just gone through.
01:13:43
Speaker
um So you've reached the end and Riffa, have you been tying your chalises the whole time or have you have you stood up? No, she's she stood up ah by now. um She wasn't expecting get quite so much information.
01:14:02
Speaker
and so the only new thing is they have started to gather.
01:14:12
Speaker
Yes. But Clifstone, it will fall. No, Clifstone won't ever fall.
01:14:21
Speaker
Yes, but it will if they has if they have inside help. i but we Why would they have inside help? And for the first time, you see...
01:14:35
Speaker
ah recognition of ah the right emotion in the right situation and its fear in Garak's face, just a bit.
01:14:46
Speaker
It's too dangerous for me to say. I don't have evidence yet. I couldn't take the evidence with me. He would have found out.
01:14:57
Speaker
If there's evidence that Clifford Stonekeep is in danger, i ah need to know.
01:15:06
Speaker
I need to help.
01:15:10
Speaker
What needs to be done? Um...
01:15:21
Speaker
I don't... Can I trust you not to say anything? If it's in regards to keeping Cliffstone keep safe on my life Garak looks you dead in the eyes.
01:15:40
Speaker
um Just looking around, can I um just check that there's no one other than the group within here?
01:15:53
Speaker
Polearm's been taking a vested interest in you and what's happening. He's about 15 feet away and has been making out bits and pieces. Fucking Polearm. We should go somewhere more... We should go somewhere more private.
01:16:08
Speaker
I will follow you. I don't know this city. I will follow your lead. I'm sure Drift... Drift?
01:16:20
Speaker
Yeah? Do you know somewhere where we can go where we can speak in private? In private? And he looks back towards Polearm. Fucking Polearm. He, uh...
01:16:30
Speaker
He looks around, uh, not really, I was a bit busy. Maybe noise is good though. If I'm really noisy, then no one's going to listen. Or is that the opposite?
01:16:41
Speaker
Too many people? I don't know. ah we If we spoke quietly... And took like two walks that way, I'm sure he couldn't hear.
01:16:51
Speaker
and ah we yeah I'll go talk to him and I'll distract him with really long stories of... from my book and he looks to falco from my book about knights and i'll tell him all the stories about the book in the nights and i'll keep i'll keep him talk i'll keep him busy it's a plan and he runs off to do it okay and you see him get a little book out and he's like pointing to things until i like kind gesture with his hand behind him and the guard is looking directly at him and and he seems preoccupied i'll take um
01:17:23
Speaker
ah a few steps away just to kind of further that distance.

Dinner Plans and Social Misunderstandings

01:17:32
Speaker
And... and
01:17:40
Speaker
You know I'm trying to keep a low profile.
01:17:47
Speaker
I have gathered that. because my father cannot know I where i am. I can't understand that.
01:17:58
Speaker
We had an argument and... It doesn't matter what. I was looking and I was searching his office for a contract and I didn't find it, but that doesn't matter. i On his desk there was a correspondence between him and one of the dwarven leader, the dwarven leaders. this
01:18:25
Speaker
Garak's face displays
01:18:30
Speaker
shock. And it's like he makes a catch in his voice when you go to talk and can't think of anything to say.
01:18:42
Speaker
i didn't have I couldn't take it because he'd know he would know that I knew. He would realise someone's been in his study. ah study But I don't... ah don't think he is truly loyal.
01:19:04
Speaker
But he's... the... defender of this city.
01:19:14
Speaker
He would never leave it for Vryn.
01:19:18
Speaker
Or work as an insider, ah traitor. against his very... I find this... I don't know.
01:19:32
Speaker
Garrick, at that point, could you could you just give me a history check, please? Yes, please. To see what you remember of Commander Shalmeyer. Billy. Billy. bigbel believe Big Billy. Big Billy Shalmer.
01:19:43
Speaker
Big Billy. Apparently, it's not canon, but it it is in Garak's world. I love Garak. He rolled a three for a total of five. Okay.
01:19:54
Speaker
With a five, you remember him being ah quite tall. Saw him from a distance. ah Big, loud voice. Proper commander.
01:20:06
Speaker
And you remember that he did the things he said he was going to do. And that's about it. So he said, i you know, we are going to do this and then the thing happened.
01:20:16
Speaker
Or I'm going to do this and then he did it. Yeah, dependable. Strong leader. Yeah. If you want to make that inference, that's you, but that's the they're the bits you remember. I'm making that... in Yeah, no, that's oh yeah me leading on that. Yeah, I'll lean into it.
01:20:33
Speaker
I don't know. I only...
01:20:42
Speaker
I don't know.
01:20:46
Speaker
is why I need evidence. Yes. Yes. a Slight relief on the face. and how how how How do we get evidence?
01:20:58
Speaker
I don't know. I think... I think it might be all connected as to why the Surge is... is not... is not becoming coming regularly. i I think if we find out what's happened to the surge, why the tide callers aren't able to, ah don't think that's natural. That the tide callers can't predict when the tide is coming.
01:21:28
Speaker
No, and the fact that the the tide is coming less often, I think it's, I don't think that's a natural thing. I think someone is influencing that.
01:21:41
Speaker
And I think my father may have a hand in that, but I don't know why.
01:21:49
Speaker
Falco, we're definitely doing the tidal search tomorrow.
01:21:55
Speaker
And then the tide will turn.
01:22:01
Speaker
i I think it can only go one way. No, no, it's an important moment. And then the tide will turn. Indeed. Indeed.
01:22:12
Speaker
Like a boulder going in the opposite direction.
01:22:19
Speaker
Five, four, three, two, one.
01:22:28
Speaker
Oh, fantastic.
01:22:33
Speaker
Wait, so your father.
01:22:38
Speaker
which
01:22:41
Speaker
So your father is... he's the commander at the at the fortress? Had you not figured that out yet? Garrick wasn't exactly being subtle.
01:22:53
Speaker
I've just put it all together in my head, all the clues, they make sense now. I was being more subtle than you thought if Falco didn't understand. he is a master of subtlety. And can be a wall.
01:23:05
Speaker
And he can be a wall. This guy's got talent coming out of his ass.
01:23:19
Speaker
so What are you doing here?
01:23:22
Speaker
Did you not? Evidence? Did you just not listen to our conversation? but Yeah, because it was secret, so that's why you didn't listen. Yeah, well, I mean, like but I pretended that was... he's standing close enough to me.
01:23:34
Speaker
yeah can you can you take a step back, please? Okay, sorry. You have a nice perfume. um but So what kind of evidence are you looking for here? I've just said, I think we need to find out why the surge...
01:23:49
Speaker
It's not happening as often why the tie callers can't... call it. Oh, you're here specifically investigating the surge?
01:23:59
Speaker
but Yes. Right. But ah nobody can know. No, no, no, of course not. I wouldn't say anything to anybody. But they what are you trying to find out? Like, if it happens or not? Or like if there's any sort of sneaky characters around here?
01:24:16
Speaker
I... I don't know, we need to talk to someone who who knows the surge, who can tell us how it's changed. Maybe after tomorrow it may be that the surge is it's not the same as normal.
01:24:32
Speaker
I don't know. There's that tidecaller that was in the Gilded Arms that we saved in the last war. could ask her.
01:24:44
Speaker
ah yeah, the emo chick.
01:24:49
Speaker
but Hang on. War?
01:24:56
Speaker
With the battle where I got my mace out and killed someone. Isn't it Morningstar? Morningstar. Very well.
01:25:07
Speaker
Very good. Yes. We could ask her. Yes. I guess she she owes us one now, so...
01:25:19
Speaker
She may answer some questions willingly. But we can't let her know why we're interested. That's going to be real tricky.
01:25:31
Speaker
It is. Perhaps...
01:25:37
Speaker
Perhaps, Garrick, you might take her out for dinner or something and strike up casual conversation with her. What does that mean? what does that mean We're doing the fucking title search tomorrow. wes why He's going to be out having tap-ass?
01:25:56
Speaker
I didn't mean...
01:26:02
Speaker
mean... Right now, ah just meant... Maybe after the search, when we have more information... After we die. That's a great idea. Well done.
01:26:18
Speaker
Oh, well, why didn't you go do it then? i Oh, yeah, and well, you know, that this that's not a bad idea. Could I take her out for a drink or dinner or... But why and are you taking her out? I don't understand. We didn't want to kill her.
01:26:33
Speaker
We saved her. Oh, no, he's... Yeah, we take her court her. to court her
01:26:47
Speaker
No, I'm not going to put her on trial before you say that. i was going to take her for a nice meal, you know, ease the situation a little bit. And then we ask the important question.
01:26:59
Speaker
And you might be able to see boobs. Aha. No. Here lies the plot. You are just going to take her out to check she's okay? Yeah, I'll check all over.
01:27:18
Speaker
I like this plan and I do think Falco should take the take her out.
01:27:25
Speaker
Out but not out. Take her out. Yes. Yeah. So it's agreed then. Do you have something in your eye? Are
01:27:42
Speaker
you both okay? Yeah, and we're still I'm still winking.
01:27:48
Speaker
Garak's just doing a hard blink. But he thinks he's winking, but both fires are closing.
01:27:55
Speaker
and Thinking this is some social cue she's not picked up on that happens when, you know, and outside of the military, she just starts blinking back at them.
01:28:10
Speaker
Ha ha ha ha! And as this, I imagine, goes on for about 15, 20 seconds or so, by that point, Drifters kind of wander back over.
01:28:23
Speaker
the fuck all doing?
01:28:26
Speaker
Taking her out.
01:28:31
Speaker
All right.
01:28:35
Speaker
So where to next? Your blinkers? She's found out her name. Who? The Tidal Surge. Doesn't have a name, it's just water. A big bath, you said. The the green-haired woman, do you remember Adrift?
01:28:49
Speaker
The green-haired woman from the inn. Yeah, the one you asked to see her boobs and she she was going to slap you and then she left. yeah We've already tried that once. You did say that. She wasn't very happy with it.
01:29:02
Speaker
It was very funny. maybe Maybe you shouldn't... No, you're not taking her...
01:29:08
Speaker
no you're not taking her And if she doesn't let me, then we take her out.
01:29:17
Speaker
God. I'm bit confused. I understand that one. I am too, Drift. um This feels like grown-up things for grown-up people. Maybe instead of you taking her out, Falco, maybe maybe Drift could just go check she's okay and ask some questions in a curious curiosity curiosity type of way.
01:29:44
Speaker
I'm good at making me feel like I'm asking questions. I think he's ready. You did, after all, Drift did such a good job at getting you both into the barracks just now, so I'm sure he would do a great job of this too.
01:30:01
Speaker
Maybe we present to her the different options of taking her out and she can choose what she finds most favourable. Yeah, so, Drift, just to be clear, we can take her out or we can take her out.
01:30:17
Speaker
Oh, If you present those options. I don't... ah Take her out or take her out. Yeah. aye All right.
01:30:30
Speaker
the But, you know, buddy, you did really

Tidal Surge Strategies and Tidewatch Tower

01:30:33
Speaker
step up to get us in there, so read the situation. Just um go with the flow. Yeah, go with the flow.
01:30:43
Speaker
Like a knight. And his eyes are going to narrow. and um And he's going to turn towards... He's still kind of nodding a little bit. Yeah. He's going look towards Riffa and then say, I don't know what I'm doing. That's okay, Drift.
01:31:00
Speaker
Maybe I'll just go have a chat with her. I'm going... Okay. That's cool. I can come. I can stay. I can sit on the floor. I don't...
01:31:10
Speaker
Yeah, why don't we just do that? We'll just go check she's okay. well I don't know where she lives though.
01:31:18
Speaker
Well, she's a tide caller, so she will have an apprentice, isn't she? Oh, she's at the tower then. There's a tower. we can go there. They all stay there. They all, there's like two at the moment, but yeah, they're there.
01:31:30
Speaker
That's where they go. They've got them in all the places. Come on, you're from here, you know. So each of the big cities have a big Tidewatch tower, and that's where, if you're moving from place to place, the Tidecallers go there, or they their apprentices, and they go there, because it's like convenient, and

Glowmoth Market Chaos and Sea-strike Eel

01:31:44
Speaker
they haven't got pay for it. So if you're a Tidecaller, you go there, and it's like free free food, free place to stay for them.
01:31:51
Speaker
So it should be in the tower, because it's high, and then you can see the wave and stuff.
01:31:58
Speaker
Great, so shall we go there now or shall we wait until after the tide will surge tomorrow, then we can ask about any differences between it?
01:32:10
Speaker
know. Please don't keep us in danger. of We ask tonight.
01:32:16
Speaker
Yes, of course.
01:32:21
Speaker
At Lead the Way Drift. Cool. And then he's going to lead you the way. And then it does involve going through the market because you've got to go back basically the whole way you came. If you go all the way back episode one, when you first entered into Stormspire Market, Glowmoth Market, it has multiple names, but it's kind of known as Stormspire in the day, Glowmoth at night, given the change of light. But the names are interchangeable. Many names are because there's no kind of set language around so much stuff around that. Wildfire being so new. So this language constantly shifts and changes, makes it very confusing if you're not from around these parts.
01:32:54
Speaker
and So you make your way down and pass the House of Prayers, which I believe is the house that um Garrick very kindly prayed within. And you enter into Glowmos Market again.
01:33:04
Speaker
ah You just, you be lining through because it's across ah the rickety old bridge past the old lady out that way. um Is that the way you are heading? Riffy, you wouldn't have... wouldn't recognise the things I've just talked about, but you would have walked through here in the daylight, um, to, to, to get to the Gilded Anchor.
01:33:23
Speaker
Um, you want to just beeline through or are we, are we hanging, um hanging around? Are we going straight for the, the Tidewatch Tower? Um, yeah, after Garak's last comment, kind of reminding her of the urgency of the situation, she, um,
01:33:44
Speaker
is gonna go straight, like, direct. and And she kind of feels like, has a bit of shame that she kind of took her time a bit on the journey up here, you know, in terms of at the delving in, kind of getting drawn into, like, Joan in her first arm wrestling fight and kind of have those, I guess, world experiences. It kind of
01:34:08
Speaker
ah distracted her a bit, but that comment just then from Garrick is kind of, made her feel a bit guilty that she, I guess, it has had some enjoyment on this.
01:34:22
Speaker
How dare you enjoy yourself. I know. Could you, as as you've kind of led the... led the the group through the market, could you just give me we're ah we're gonna do good old fashioned random encounter. Could you give me a I'm sorry, found the number I need, sorry for killing time, a just to roll straight a regular d twenty and just tell me the number that you get, please, for an event.
01:34:53
Speaker
17. And this is all Alice's fault if we didn't like it. Is the market still like up and running? Yeah, yeah, it's fully fully up and running. Yeah, yeah, sorry. i'm Yeah, I was going to, if you were beelining through, i was going to give you a quick blurred description as we go through a bit of hang by 17.
01:35:08
Speaker
um seventeen okay and yeah, so the market's in in kind of full bloom, if it were if you will. but and A lot of the space is now lit by this kind of iridescent blue and orange and purple light that kind of melds together and makes almost like a whitish light that seems quite unnatural compared to the daylight, which has that obviously normal daylight-esque feel to it.
01:35:33
Speaker
A lot of the stalls that were there during the day when you first went through Falco and Sir Garrick so garic um are still there, ah though the patrons, the people running it have changed. They seem to run in shifts given the long time they serve out here.
01:35:46
Speaker
and There are a couple of new stores that seem to have set up selling, its name mainly kind of ah agricultural equipment, food and some kind of live animals as well. There's a specific store that sits directly near next to, if you remember there was this small stage in the middle where the man was trying to get people to to play and to speak in Falco.
01:36:07
Speaker
At the end of the first, you you spoke ah about Sir Garrick. Upon there is a what seems to be a halfling, quite an old wizened halfling, playing an accordion or the equivalent to a medieval accordion, ah pulling apart these kind of organist sounds and and forming quite a nice, quite droney style Like imagine this kind of music you get from bagpipes but played through an accordion, that kind of feel I think. my So he's there playing this over the top and there's the smell of food in the air and it's like a wisp of it.
01:36:43
Speaker
almost smells like the equivalent of a smoke machine if you... stuck your face in a smoke machine before. That kind of smell, which seems to emanate up from the from the ravine as well. And the smell of food again, this deep, ah but and I to say fishy smell, but it's a nice kind of cooked, charred fish smell that kind of runs up. I'm making myself hungry now.
01:37:03
Speaker
And like I said, next, sorry, next going to, getting distracted, next to the stage, the small central stage where these stalls all meet around before the rickety bridge over to the old lady who's selling her wares, the surge infused rocks and things like that.
01:37:15
Speaker
Next to the stage is a man who has a number of cages and there is he's got some some and animals kind of in there. and There's one in particular as you walk past that catches your rye and it's this...
01:37:28
Speaker
um kind of specialist animal and in in in Wild Heart. Rifa, as you've probably most likely to have come across it, could you give me a history check?
01:37:41
Speaker
It stands out, but you'd be the only one that really recognized it properly, I think. ah
01:37:54
Speaker
Natural 20. Oh, fuck, okay. Holy shit!
01:38:01
Speaker
I've got to give you everything then shit okay have I written enough on this luckily everything's in the tab I can't find the tab though things that's brilliant shit okay and
01:38:19
Speaker
yep okay so what you see in this cage is the equivalent of a sea strike eel so falco and garrick you'll know that is the thing that rock was carrying around in the first fight the whole time this fucking huge almost like tuna in terms of muscularity but an eel so even longer and there is a speciality a kind of a predatory eel um and if you'd know that already but the difference between this one is it's They don't really have a name for it at the moment, except that it's this kind of sea-strike eel, but it has a series of legs, about 12 legs that run down the length of its body.
01:38:53
Speaker
It kind of curls itself like a snake, but it it moves like ah like a gecko with incredible speed and precision. It's an incredibly dangerous creature that's kind of caught in this in this cage.
01:39:06
Speaker
And just as you notice it, and maybe if you were to about to vocalize something, ah it it twists as ah as a small child or something pokes at the cage, making it rattle slightly. The the the the creature turns and these two sharp fangs bear out towards it and bite straight through the the wooden bars that are holding it and suddenly, ban you hear this massive crash and there's a bloom of smoke as this creature just scuttles out and there's there's there's chaos in the market for a couple of seconds.
01:39:37
Speaker
What do you want to
01:39:43
Speaker
do?
01:39:47
Speaker
Seeing that happening and knowing and
01:39:55
Speaker
the danger that this creature can
01:40:03
Speaker
came cause, um she is going to throw all that guilt she's just had out the window and ah head straight towards it.
01:40:19
Speaker
Okay, so we're trying to intercept it. Yeah. Okay. Can you give me a... Sorry. Yeah, we'll run that. I'll come to Farqua Gareth to see what you guys are doing just a second. But Riffa, could you give me a perception check at disadvantage? No, just a regular perception check, please. Yeah. ah Just to see if you can spot the creature. Now, at the moment... Yeah, sorry. I'll i let you do the roll. nowll
01:40:44
Speaker
18. Okay, nice, yeah, cool, perfect. So what you can't see is you can't see the creature because it's low to the ground, but what you can very obviously notice is the ripple effect it has as people dart and move, the screams as as it as it moot shuffles through the people.
01:40:59
Speaker
And so you quite easily can follow that with your eye and see see where they're at. So as you're doing that, Falco, Garrick, um you, you, you, hear you see the same commotion, you hear the same noise.
01:41:10
Speaker
You don't know as much about the creature, but you see the commotion it's causing. Uh, is there anything you guys want to do?
01:41:18
Speaker
Uh, So Garak's quite single-minded this moment with going towards the tower, but he's also single-minded and following Rifa like she's the mother duck because she's got the plan and she's the daughter.
01:41:36
Speaker
And through that, he will he will be able to help Clifstone Keep. So we'll ah go after Rifa.
01:41:46
Speaker
Planking armor.
01:41:51
Speaker
Uh, Falko? Uh, in the commotion. Um, I'd like to look around at this, at the agricultural stalls, and I've got my eye out for a whip.
01:42:04
Speaker
Ooh, a whip. Okay, give me a, uh, perception check, please. Fourteen. Okay. You can see a whip.
01:42:19
Speaker
ah behind the store that you're directly in front of there is a rather nice looking whip perfect actually for your size stature build etc it's it's got a slightly shorter reach on it but you can see the way it's coiled up that it would be it would be literally perfect nice leather dark brown leather material has a nice kind of weathered feel to the handle slightly reddened in the handle like spot on in terms of size and posture for you. And like i said, it's already coiled up and it's already on the hip of another person.
01:42:51
Speaker
So it's not necessarily the stall, it's someone who is looking at items at the stall. He's not the stall vendor, but someone looking. And like, almost like a gunslinger in an old western would have the guns on the hips and they'd have the, ah they'd rest a hand on it. He's resting his hand on his, on his ah whip as he's, as he's talking to the stall holder. He's looked around and he's continuing to talk back to the stall holder.
01:43:16
Speaker
Okay. um Is the commotion enough that it would potentially cover the sound of a spell? Or is it not quite there yet? With a 14 at that distance, you would think not.
01:43:32
Speaker
Okay. All right. um um well I'll make my way as close as i can towards this this guy, that's got whoever it is that has the whip. um I just want to stand behind him, and I'm just going to wait for a moment that he might take his hand off it, and then...
01:43:48
Speaker
For a finger discount, I want to try and snatch it. Okay, so it's equivalent of a held action. His hand moves away for any reason. The item is kind of free from his grasp.
01:43:59
Speaker
You want to run a sleight hand to try and nab it. Cool. Okay, thanks. We'll hold that in mind. And so should we just... I mean, we've kind of accidentally fallen into a bit of an initiative anyway, so we'll we'll kind of run with that naturally. That's okay without actually having to roll initiative.
01:44:13
Speaker
we'll go kind of... ah the eel slash other things that happen. Alice, sorry, not Alice, Riffa, Garrick, Falco, and we'll go in that order through just to save us rolling. Roll initiative. Unless we want to roll initiative.
01:44:28
Speaker
No? We'll just do that then. We'll do this order. Cool. And so and that's kind of been the creature's move. ah So Riffa, from your current location, it's probably about 20 feet away from you, three people. um So kind of count them as kind of mini difficult terrain. So...
01:44:43
Speaker
ah No, let's make it easier than 15. It's about 15 feet away. and we're going to say if you're moving through this crowd, it's going to act as kind of difficult terrain. So it will take double your movement to make that distance ah to get through it. So you could, in theory, kind of catch up to where you think it might be in a turn.

Eel's Escape and Riffa's Strategy

01:45:00
Speaker
um Just from kind of looking, is it going in a ah set direction or, you know, is it... Does it look like I might be able to kind of go around and cut it off? Like, is it, you know, is it heading a certain way as if it's homing in on something?
01:45:16
Speaker
Okay, give me another perception check, please. Just to see if you can, yeah, understand the trajectory it might be heading on. 19.
01:45:30
Speaker
19, cool. And if you pair that, sorry to keep throwing them at you, but let's roll some dice tonight. um If you pair that with and history, ah history check, and i'll I'll tell you that. So while you're on the history check, what you notice is that it's quite erratic in its movements, but it's heading in a certain direction. What was this? 17.
01:45:50
Speaker
Wow, you're rolling really well. um Yes, you remember reading at one point in one of those boring lessons your dad made you do about the sea strike eel and the way it acted and it would always aim for the path of resistance. It would always go upstream of the tidal of surge and we tend to jump through the most difficult point of contact but always was most at ease in water.
01:46:18
Speaker
and you assume that this version of the Seastroke Hill would be no different. It is erratic, but it is moving in a direction that seems to be towards the the bridge, towards the ravine, but it's still about 30, 40 feet away from that.
01:46:35
Speaker
and
01:46:41
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, she doesn't want to catch it. She she wants it to get there, but she just does she doesn't want to... She wants to make sure it doesn't harm anybody on its way. So I guess...
01:46:58
Speaker
um i mean, is it obvious that it's going to be moving lot a lot faster than she can... No, because it it's moving quite erratically, kind of side to side, trying to get through the right moment between legs and stamping feet and people.
01:47:12
Speaker
So it's quite staccato, it's movement, it's quick, slow, left, right, left, right, left, right. and it'ss So it's heading roughly, and you notice from your perception, it's heading in one direction, but it's not doing it a straight line. So actually, it's equivalent 40 feet of movement it has, realistically, will only move about 15 feet away from you because of its of its erratic journey.
01:47:32
Speaker
So yeah in theory, I'm giving you a lot, but you did roll a 17 for history and for perception. You think you can keep up with it? Okay. um Knowing that it's kind of going towards the bridge, and as she's running to kind of catch up to it, she's going to cast...
01:47:55
Speaker
she's She's just got, ah I'm going to pronounce it wrong, Thaumaturgy? Yep, Thaumaturgy, yep. Thaumaturgy. Because she do like whispers. Let me know if I'm kind of taking too much light like freedom with this. It's good. Sorry, I'm just checking what I can actually. That's right.
01:48:18
Speaker
do She's going to send a wave of... ah She can send harmless tremors in the ground for up to a minute. She's going to send a wave of them kind of in front between the kind of the erratic, like the width of the erraticness to the bridge to kind of get people to clear the path.
01:48:41
Speaker
So the idea is that people feel the tremors and they shift. Yeah, so that... um Yeah, because I guess she's, you know, she's been told about them history, but she's read about them in kind of, you know, fantasy-style books. so you know, she, um even though she knows they're dangerous, she almost has this kind of reverence at seeing it and knows that it belongs in the ravine and the water. And so she's going after it, and partly, you know, to just,
01:49:17
Speaker
check that it is what she thinks she's seeing, but also to help it. Okay, nice. so So um you command your voice into the ground and the ground shakes for a couple of seconds and people start looking around and we won't know their reaction until they're they're kind of they're round, if that makes sense.
01:49:35
Speaker
Anything else you want to do? You haven't moved at this point. and I was doing that as i was running along. So I'm just trying to basically catch up to it. and
01:49:48
Speaker
ah yeah I'll just end up behind it and keep up behind it Still casting this kind of a noise in front of you in the ground. Yeah. Thanks for that. Yeah, ill we'll let you know how that pans out once it gets to them. and You've kind of been pushing through people as you've been doing that as well in order to get through them in the crowd. Thanks very much.
01:50:05
Speaker
Nice. ah Garrick, you've seen Rifa kind of plough ahead and this you see a faint, you hear this faint low rumble in the ground beneath you at the same time.
01:50:17
Speaker
Garak's gonna, um after watching everything that's happened and then hearing the low rumble, will put two and two together in his head and instantly lie down on the ground and put his ear towards it to see if he can pinpoint the rumble.
01:50:37
Speaker
What do you want me to roll for that, DM? A perception check, please. I can perceive you. can perceive you. can turn to the sky.
01:50:51
Speaker
Still lot of perception checks. lot of checking. Percepts. Cool. So a little bit better than his history with a 10. Cool. You know it's coming from the ground and you're ah quite certain that it's rumbling.
01:51:13
Speaker
That's about it's about it. You can't tell where it comes from. Okay, that will probably take up the majority of my turn. It's just there, like spread eagle, armor face down, this big hulking human just ear to the ground.
01:51:31
Speaker
I kind of like that visual. yeah yeah Okay, nice, all right. ah Thanks very much, Falco. you as You, as you stand ready for any any movement from this individual,
01:51:47
Speaker
um you see nothing for a few seconds and then you hear this clunk, clunk, clunk, as ah Garrick lowers himself face down on the ground, almost like in in some kind of reverent prayer, prostrating himself to an Egyptian god.
01:52:02
Speaker
i ah that,
01:52:06
Speaker
I'll break the order up slightly. The the vendor goes hey and points towards Garrick and the man with the whip turns and then holds both his hands up like saying, what the hell?
01:52:18
Speaker
ah It doesn't say that, he just holds his hands up whilst looking and then looks back to the the the shopkeeper and looks back towards the this knight on the ground face down and kind of looks bemused at him. His hand has been removed from his whip.
01:52:34
Speaker
So I believe you had a held action. Pinch it. I'm going to try. Okay. Give. Yeah, it's because it could be a straight sleight hand.
01:52:45
Speaker
Oh, come on. If there was a roll that was going to go well. Oh, isn't that 20? Oh. 24. Fuck yeah. Wow. so Talking about.
01:52:57
Speaker
Oh, God. That was... no twenty four 24 and um I mean how how how would you how would you describe this this this perfection that is you know this this is a a switch that will be unknown to him
01:53:14
Speaker
You know like those those guys that do professional sleight hand and they like take people's belts off and wallets and everything? Yeah. can i Can I pop the the whip off? I imagine like leather clasp or something.
01:53:28
Speaker
Pop the whip off and then also I want to remove his belt and put, like if I can dig my hands in and get anything out of his pockets and just want to like scatter the general area with them so he's completely distracted when he does focus up and hopefully I'll be long gone into the crowd.
01:53:43
Speaker
Yep. Okay. So you go through his pockets. ah Yeah, i like that kind of, you know, the ones that take the tie off of them and they're like, oh look over there, look at this thing. And suddenly they're naked. Yeah. and And you go through that that that process. I imagine like, don't know, almost joining in, like, I got look at that guy on the floor and you're there doing thing. And there's a couple of copper pieces. There's a silver there.
01:54:02
Speaker
There's a ball of string. There's a note ah within this pocket as well, the a small piece of paper that floats to the ground. um There is some, there's a weird kind of compass, compass thing he's got in his pocket as well, ah made of like some coppery material clunked to the ground as well.
01:54:18
Speaker
ah But the whip is well and truly and firmly within your grasp. or something that will like attempt to do a Batman and just disappear into the crowd. Actually, um if I can go in a, if I can disappear into the crowd in a way that's gonna veer me in the direction of this charging eel, then it's great.
01:54:39
Speaker
Yeah, Fab, okay, that's no no problem. There's a bit of a space between where you and this eel thing's escaped anyway, or there's a bit of a gap of people anyway. the ah The crowd and the eel,
01:54:51
Speaker
have their go and the first thing you notice Riffa is that it has had an impact on the people around it. You hear screams, you hear people running in different directions, you hear the shout, it's coming, the tidal surge is coming, it's here, they've got it wrong, they've got it wrong and they start panicking and there's a mini mini panic and there's one or two people kind of at at odds with each other. Someone punches another person in the face trying to move away.
01:55:16
Speaker
and You hear children crying and in and amongst the chaos there you also see there's a fleeting moment where people are running past you and you see this tide this this the sea strike eel, mutant sea strike eel, this version of the sea strike eel and it has this this woman by the leg.
01:55:34
Speaker
big old bite in the leg and she's screaming and this this thing is like god it's venomous well not venomous but it's big old jaws around like the thigh of this of this probably mid-20s uh human uh female and has strong grasp muscular jaw and it's honest on um this creature and she's trying like she's trying to kind of push the head off her leg and but it's just there it's latched in you can see the blood starting to pull around her leg Garak, the rumbling continues, but now it's almost a cacophony of noises as there's more so footfall, there's more falling and have the shouts of the tidal surge as well. Coming, it's coming, it's here, it's happened now, they were wrong, they were wrong.
01:56:16
Speaker
And Garak, sorry, and Falco, you've you've got a nifty-difty.
01:56:22
Speaker
nifty-difty little fucking whip, haven't you? But the yeah, the sea-strike eel's had its turn and that turn was to to attack. Well, it's it's now attacked this woman and it's got its teeth latched into this ah this woman.
01:56:34
Speaker
and That's the action that's just happened. Background to you, Rifa, top of the round in theory. ah What do you want to do? You're probably only about seven or eight feet away from from this situation and probably about 10 feet now away from the ravine edge.
01:56:50
Speaker
and Just a quick question, because I rolled an act 20, I would probably know this. Okay. Is it, that creature being so rare, is it associated with any omens, whether that is good or bad, or is there any kind of associations with it?
01:57:12
Speaker
With a nat 20. And only with a nat 20 would I give you that ah the stories you have heard of this fabled version of an eel,
01:57:24
Speaker
ah usually favoured change. and When they were used in stories, it was normally the start to instigate that things weren't right, but not necessarily good or bad, but just that things were about to change.
01:57:36
Speaker
Things were in motion. And sometimes that was for good, sometimes that was for bad, but they were powerful omens for change either way. um And so something something was something was going to come. That's what it always meant.
01:57:50
Speaker
Okay, so kind of knowing the kind of the powerfulness of this creature. She's not going to want to kind of kill it because in her mind then killing it could potentially signal change for the worse.
01:58:09
Speaker
So she's going to pull her dagger. um She wants it to release from the lady so she's going to stab it at the end into the end of its tail. ah kind of as close to the point as she kind of can ah still get a good like... Cause it pain, cause it to race without causing too much damage. Yeah, exactly. but Yeah, no problem. Roll to hit.
01:58:34
Speaker
That's okay. And technically it's flanked, so you can do it with an advantage because the woman's not too keen being bitten by it, So 16 or...
01:58:47
Speaker
ah natural twenty An unnatural 20? Okay, cool. No problem. Yeah, roll it roll the damage for that with your dagar, if you'd be so kind.
01:58:57
Speaker
We can see what damage we've done it. Nice. Okay, so you get a good old chunk down into this thing, and you notice for the first time, you've never stabbed one of these things before, but the the blood glows slightly as it comes out, pulls in a kind of, almost looks like the equivalent of, you know, like if you saw that oil or, you know, that kind of greasy film it has, and it almost has all those all these different colours in the surface of it.
01:59:17
Speaker
But instead of those colours being really dim in darkness, they're actually they they're actually the bits that glow. So it's this really interesting... i a colour palette that you see kind of emanate out this creature. It's a bit brighter, actually. The blood's brighter than the creature.
01:59:30
Speaker
um And it does ah seem to... You feel it react to it. These things are famous for not actually making any noise ah from the squeal or screech or shout. And just you can feel the body twitch as it tries to pull away from you.
01:59:45
Speaker
hasn't had a chance to move yet, so you don't know whether or not you've been successful or not. and Is there anything else you want to do with your turn? She wants to... Can I... Just release off one of the, because she's still got the two ale mugs kind of attached to her belt.
02:00:00
Speaker
Just release off one of those with the idea that if it turns to strike her, she's going to kind of use that as like a ah barrier. Okay. Yeah, not a problem. Yeah, that's not problem.
02:00:11
Speaker
Okay, cool. Thanks very much. ah Garrick, ah you're still face down. Yeah, Garrick's going to stand up now and try and ah get Reefer back in his ah field of view.
02:00:22
Speaker
um Especially with everything that... I mean, it's hard because I know what's going on, but in truth, garriff is Garrick has been stood ah staring at the fucking ground. ah So if he notices like there's the potential of like harm, or he would...
02:00:37
Speaker
act as a fucking paladin in a shield of cliff stones. So he'd look to get involved and insert himself in between. don't know how far I am away. So your passive perception, you would see everyone else is running. There there are only three things, four things that are still really.
02:00:53
Speaker
Falco, Riffa, this eel and this woman and you can see their silhouettes very very clearly everything else is running running running and you can see rifa very clearly and her her silhouette um is quite telling that it's her you are probably about yeah about 50 45 50 feet away so in a turn wouldn't be able to get there you could dash and be there next to her but that would eat your action so you can
02:01:26
Speaker
I'll do that. Yeah, I will dash and be there next to Reefer. If you've got a bonus action, you can still use that. or any kind of reactions you've still got that or action for bit dialogue if you want just so you don't feel you just spent the time running no I know i I put myself in this position from the flavorful turn that i did last time so I will absolutely accept that um I don't have any it's level two he doesn't have nothing but ah yeah I'm good exactly that I'm gonna burn my action and just be there and but shield would be out Garak's shield yeah
02:02:06
Speaker
And his morning style would be at his side ready. So you're now battle battle ready, standing side by side at the tail end of the eel?
02:02:18
Speaker
Yeah. Next to Rifa. No, he would put himself in front of Rifa and the eel. it like and So there were the eel's currently... claws and a jaw on onto a woman at the moment.
02:02:32
Speaker
um Still kind of mid-bite and won't let go at the moment. woman's screaming on the floor.
02:02:39
Speaker
And it's quite long, so you'd be either next to Reefer at the tail or five, six, seven feet away at the head end. Okay, so yeah, Reefer's right there up to it. Yeah, so next to Reefer. Okay, right next to Cool, no problem. Falco.
02:02:54
Speaker
I will...
02:02:57
Speaker
I probably, because I lingered, I'm probably not quite up to them yet, but I want to get the eel envisioned. And if I can see the reef has gone stabby stabby, I will be able to see the eel and I will shout across the market, Hey, you ain't no big dick eel.
02:03:19
Speaker
That's I love it. Vicious mockery on it, which is a wisdom 13 save. That's a natural one. Ah, it's the first time it's worked in a while. He takes five points of psychic damage and has disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes.
02:03:37
Speaker
Very good. Thank you very much. ah Yeah, and you can see it kind of, it's its head kind of, well, the only people who see it with Garrick and Riffa. You see the head of this creature kind of twitch once, twice, once, twice, and little bit smoke rise from kind of one of the nostrils as the psychic damage takes hold.
02:03:54
Speaker
It is psychic, isn't it? Yeah. It is it, yeah. I like to think it burns a bit of the brain. Maybe that's just me being gross. um Cool. Thank you very much for that. The creature's turn is going to release from...
02:04:07
Speaker
the the the the the woman and she's going to kind of limp limp herself up up stagger back out of the way and someone's going to help try and grab her and try and move out the way but they're not far off this creature's going to its head's going to spin round and it's just got this this bloody maw now which is the blood of this girl kind of all around her its mouth and it's going to turn back towards you and it's just it's it's the epitome of predator It is the predator of of Wild Heart here on crack, basically.
02:04:35
Speaker
And it's going to turn back towards you. And then it's just going to, as quick as lightning, pounce towards what it thinks attacked him.

Resolution and Return to Natural Habitat

02:04:43
Speaker
And it's the big shiny thing. It's Garrick. And so it's going to go for a bite on you.
02:04:49
Speaker
And that firstly there is going to be a 17 against your AC. That misses. Misses. And then, ah, gets another hit. It's a seven against your armor class. No.
02:05:00
Speaker
So I've got my shield out. There you go. This tail is going to whip out and round and just try and take out the legs of Riffa. and That's 12.
02:05:11
Speaker
his case His tail's pinned at the moment.
02:05:15
Speaker
Okay, all right, so you are you all you um youre trying to pin it down, down. Okay, okay. So it's not going to take that. Yeah, cool. That's fine. It's next grade or try and wiggle out of that. I'll treat it like a mini grapple.
02:05:27
Speaker
um that I like that ah that image pinning it down. Good. Yeah, cool. like that. Lovely. That's the end of that its turn. But there's more cries about the tidal surge again. You hear it kind of now kind of permeating through the market and beyond.
02:05:40
Speaker
ah That's the end of the kind of their turn. Rufo, round to you. The creature's head is turned. It's tried to jab at Garak. Bang, bang. Shields come up as he's appeared out nowhere. A bit muddy on the front. and What do you want to do? How far are we from where we are to the surge?
02:05:59
Speaker
To the ravine where the surge comes? Yeah, to the bridge, like the edge. Ten feet. Oh, so we're not far at all? No. So...
02:06:11
Speaker
She wants to try and hit it, like kind of daze it. Like so she's got the, now that it's turned and got this head next to it and focusing on the shield, she wants to try and hit it with the
02:06:30
Speaker
ale mug. Okay. To kind of daze it. And then
02:06:37
Speaker
um almost like drag then like drag the tail end with the knife in it along the ground and then throw out to the ravine below.
02:06:50
Speaker
Okay. That's a lot. you could yeah You could do the attack as the action or you could try and throw it one or the other, I'd say. You'd be able to do both. It's up to you if you want to daze it or you want to just try and yeet it off the...
02:07:07
Speaker
I think while um while it's distracted by um attacking Garruk's shield, she'll try and right run the 10 feet as quickly as she's able to.
02:07:21
Speaker
and and yeah And then with her strength, throw and flick it off the end of the dagger. you know like like Swinging it round from the tail, it's got that kind of flick-whip motion yeah out into the ravine.
02:07:38
Speaker
Okay. I like it. I love it. Let's do some rolls for them. So, because it's not really a thrown weapon, as I've just done a quick Google here. It doesn't have the throw. She's not going to let go of the dagger. She wants to use that as the pivot point. Yeah. Yeah. you still We're still going to throw the eel.
02:07:56
Speaker
Yeah. So for that, let's first... Okay, no, this is simple. Let's make it simplify it. Okay. this is This is an athletics check, please.
02:08:07
Speaker
Could you give me an athletics check? And I would say, nope yeah, we'll just go straight athletics for that, please. I'm just right down a DC. 19. Oh, fuck. Okay, yeah, that that that that beats the 17 I picked for a level two character.
02:08:24
Speaker
Yeah, okay. I thought I was looking for a failure. It was going to be hard. Okay, the scooch is heavy. That's the thing. It's heavy. It's muscular. It's like a fucking tuna in terms of weight.
02:08:35
Speaker
I don't know why i keep using tuna as an example. I'm really hungry. It's all the fish. and And it's heavy and a dagger's light, but you are very strong and the training kicks in and you you pivot the right way and you manage just to fling.
02:08:50
Speaker
at the right moment get the right kind of grab. It is enough distracted by Garrick and the shield and it manages, you must flick it over. um it now I'm gonna give it a roll for grabbing on. Ah, okay. um It flicks off the tail um kind of spins, yawns out over the the abyss and the ravine. And the first set of legs falls, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, legs fall. And just the last two sets in the head of this creature, still bloodied mouth, is just hanging on top of the ravine, looking looking back at you all.
02:09:22
Speaker
ah or back ah ah the at the space, the people around you there. um It's not inter-turned so can't react to it, but you've managed to get it pretty much on the edge of the ravine hanging off at this point.
02:09:33
Speaker
ah Really nice. and You've got movement, bonus action. Anything else you want to with and
02:09:43
Speaker
and So I've actually got bonus action, two weapon weapons. fighting but that'll only be if you've attacked the first that's said okay yeah good yeah yeah okay good just to cry i'm basically knowing that garrick seems to lean towards going for the kill rather than i'm
02:10:08
Speaker
i'm gonna shout back to him it needs to go back to the surge
02:10:16
Speaker
Fuck!
02:10:19
Speaker
Ruined his fun. Nice, yeah, cool. like You know Garruk so well in such a show. I'm just already putting that it's just into the world. was like, ah, cool, yeah, just hit in the face.
02:10:32
Speaker
It's like that really old um South Park episode. It's coming right for us. And then you can and you can kill it if it's coming right for us. It's the defense for hunting. and Nice. Cool. Thanks very much for that, Riffa. So, Garak, it's around to you. You took you hear Riffa say this very clearly. She's not far away from you.
02:10:50
Speaker
Is it still biting that? Woman? No, no, the woman's free. It turned on you. Bye-bye, shield, shield. that didn't know after me it went. Okay. No, no, and then dagger in the tail flicked it, swish and flick, and almost got this heavy-ass tuna fish sea-strike eel creature almost into the ravine. Then she turned and said, don't kill it.
02:11:12
Speaker
Or what's that effect? How fast the ravine? You're 15 feet away from where the sea-strike eel is.
02:11:26
Speaker
God damn it. Refer, well played. Okay, right. So Garak looks disappointed. he looks at his Morningstar and he looks at the eel and he looks back to the Morningstar is like, not today, Fatinas.
02:11:41
Speaker
And almost like he's called his Morningstar Fatinas in some weird show of love. He will put that, he will hoist that unequipped it. ah But he's got a shield, so he's going to use the shove action and bot it with the shield so the target must succeed on strengths or dexterity it chooses which saving and throw yeah dc equals eight plus proficiency bonus plus strength or you can either push it five foot away or cause it to have the prone condition
02:12:16
Speaker
Huh? The target must succeed on a strength slash dex. It chooses which. Saving throw. DC equals eight plus proficiency bonus plus yeah strength.
02:12:28
Speaker
And I can either push it five feet or cause it to have the prone condition. yes ah You can either push it down or push it out, basically. Yes. and So it picked dex, dexterity.
02:12:39
Speaker
It rolled plus its modifier for... for ah Why can't do basic math? Six for six. We're on to two plus four, six. That's it. Couldn't work that out. Two plus four.
02:12:51
Speaker
It's getting pushed five feet away. Okay. bun And you kind of bop it their head a little bit and shove it off and you just see it disappear off into the distance and then a slight quiet splash later on as the sea-striped eel creature has been has been pushed back into the waters deep within of the ravine.
