If it was a warm-up or pie, how many times we have to put it in the microwave for? Ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:00:31
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop, Bellendraconis. We are a live play 5e D&D 2024, D&D 2024, D&D 2024 podcast set in the magical home-brewed world of Aerith in the kingdom of

Character Introductions and Setting Description

00:00:44
Speaker
Dralak. In case you forgot, we were a D&D 24 podcast.
00:00:47
Speaker
ah Joining you for this week's episode, we have Will, who plays a dragonborn druid Balvalkon. Pick me nose a bit too hard, start bleeding, best damn me life. And he plays a tiefling warster and ex-gorel.
00:01:01
Speaker
I came dust. Best day of my life.
00:01:07
Speaker
The Edgewood Academy plays the Warforged Artifice at Alpha. I rusted and me arm fell off. was best day of my life. Poo-Bahy plays the Human Cleric Emron. i quit.
00:01:18
Speaker
LAUGHTER
00:01:23
Speaker
join the club. We also have me, Mark. I'm play the Human Blade singer, Seth Farah Reaver. And by last, but by no means the least, is our fantasy fabricator, the fomenter of frights, the fosterer of fables, the foreseer of fate, the foreskin slicker and fellatio sticker, Dungeon Master Danny.
00:01:39
Speaker
Best fucking day of my life. We find ourselves on old girl's best day of his life, ah being crushed

Character Experiences and Humorous Events

00:01:47
Speaker
under the weight of a very large stone that seems to have fallen. and Yet somehow, with the orb in one hand and a squeezed face on the other, it glows lightly and the the the rock ah slowly tips away from him.
00:02:00
Speaker
And he slides himself out, firstly being pulled out by his long toes and then his knees and hips and body follows. And he stands there, kind of right as rain, a little nosebleed. Holds the yawbop close and begins.
00:02:15
Speaker
Ooh, refreshing reminiscence! Emron decides that it's a good idea to use the letter as a means of getting the party into the port town without some question.
00:02:26
Speaker
Trunks starts pulling a little faster and Baal feels a compulsion to head east towards the oasis. He's getting horny for and wild shapes into a horse to go a little bit faster and it's guzzle time!
00:02:39
Speaker
He fails a wisdom-saving throw and gets a memory from his childhood, his old youthy youth in the lair of Gelfar the Sleet with his wildfire spirit.
00:02:49
Speaker
Jump! Sorry, Seth decides to just face-plant into the water, which is only about a foot deep, and his scarring starts to look a little bit better. Emron's like, I'm gonna get a little bit of this water in, and he feels holier. He's taken to a memory of a younger man in a smithy about to be set upon by gangster types, but he fights back with Aledo's might.
00:03:09
Speaker
It's the best day of his life. Seth has had a little bit of a drinky drink, and he has a little memory of moving towards Sleetgard to join the surge against the Blight. It's a time when things were clear. It was simply good versus evil.

Editing Discussion and Oasis Relaxation

00:03:23
Speaker
nix doesn't want to relive that shit yet but convinces alpha to give it a go and you know what they say electronics and water it's a good mix what could possibly go wrong i should know i tried to shock and grasp it in the bath once and oh it hurts
00:03:44
Speaker
did you do that all in one breath it sounded like it was one breath it's kind of like an attempt Now, I'm like, if I stop and have to say um or uh, I'm always like, ah, fuck. so ah Old girl can't actually see the future.
00:03:58
Speaker
All he's done is he's shocking grasping himself into giving you brain damage. right Travels from the tip to the head. Whoop. o and One of the hardest jobs on this podcast, Will, is trying to take your fantastic retelling of the previous episode and then steer us into what's about to happen next.
00:04:18
Speaker
I wonder how many people have just fucked off the podcast and just listened to that opening bit. Just listen to old girls bits. I'm up to date now. I wonder what happen if you edited the whole old girls together. Oh my god.
00:04:34
Speaker
What I'd also like to is just the laughs at one point. I might give a go at one point. It's just try and get all the, oh! and just link them all together. Layered. Orchestrated. You could create some sort of song. Yeah. Composition. I'm here for it. Or just the odd just the opening line. that oh but and then And do each of those to put them together. That was just the best day of my life. You know, if I can...
00:05:03
Speaker
You know what? I think whoever wants to destroy Aerith, if this... this ah Prego's brother's got a good idea going. Let's just sign it with him. All right, mate. You sound like someone else. Total destruction of the world, you know.
00:05:16
Speaker
It'd be a good day. Not a good day. it was At least we were listening, Will. We were listening to you. There you That's how into it we were. Picked apart your really lovely, positive memory. Yeah,

Magical Water and Spell Studies

00:05:28
Speaker
picked the It's fine. It's fine. positive. Set it on fire. I hope you get sand in your eyes. I hope you get sand in your eye socket.
00:05:36
Speaker
thanks well Speaking of sand, taking in some well-earned rest at the soothing waters of this lush desert oasis, you find yourselves enjoying an extended period of relaxation, a sensation that absolutely none of you have been able to access for a number of weeks.
00:05:54
Speaker
As the afternoon sun bounces on the water in front of you, you watch as scores of different migrating birds and desert reptiles come and rest at the oasis before continuing their journey.
00:06:06
Speaker
Sat side by side, enjoying a euphoric moment, Emron and Bal comfortably lounge in an almost meditative state. Staring at the water, Seth idly floating on his back on the surface of the water, unable to shake a near-permanent smile that seemed cemented to his face.
00:06:27
Speaker
Nyx, just quite content, enjoying the joy on his friends' faces, takes in the scene. But Alpha, as you begin to submerge yourself in the water, staring at the surface above you, you feel no different.
00:06:46
Speaker
And you certainly experience no reaction like your friends have, to the point where you sort of think they're performing it. It's so abstract to what you're feeling. You're under there for two, maybe three minutes, and And you realize then that it's probably appropriate to re-emerge from the water.
00:07:08
Speaker
As you poke your head back out and feel that heat of the sun on you again, that this is sort of the only sensation you've experienced, it's the coolness that's come from submerging yourself.
00:07:20
Speaker
You collectively as a group are still a few hours away from Beach Barra Port and there is plenty of time in the day to make that journey. And it looks, Nix, as though nobody is in a rush to move, particularly not the snoozing elephante companion now lying on his back underneath the cart.
00:07:41
Speaker
What would you all care to do next?
00:07:45
Speaker
ah Nix would... Exactly as you say, just taking the euphoric nature and vibes that everyone is giving off right now as if they've all joint smoked a massive fucking bong.
00:08:03
Speaker
Yeah. And so ah ah I think Nix would just sit and watch for a while.
00:08:16
Speaker
And then eventually just go about is his usual rituals of opening up his book, getting out Old Girl's Orb.
00:08:30
Speaker
And he's he's doing some research into a spell that
00:08:38
Speaker
he feels could link into the deals that have been struck between himself and pray go the others uh and this spell is is he hasn't got it down yet and he keeps copying it he keeps rereading it and he's he's just trying to work it out in his mind how he'd go and cast such a thing so he's kind of got that kind of perplexed look about his features and that's that's all he's doing he's trying to work out how best to cast such a thing okay Seth, while you're sort of liloing without a lilo, what would you be doing?
00:09:15
Speaker
Well, Seth continues to lay there and is just... at peace for once in a very long time. The voices in his head kind of gone away. ah But Nithravar, however, would have been very interested in this orb thing that's appeared in Nix's hands. Oh, fuck.
00:09:35
Speaker
And would just be like five or six meters away. Oh, let's go feet. Why not? We're in feet. Five or six feet away, just kind hunched down like a shitting dog would come They're hunched down, but just like the mouth and all the teeth slightly open and it's just big eyes and just staring at this orb. And each time Nyx moves it or puts it down, ah the creature's eyes will just will just follow it around. It won't be saying, they won't be trying to involve itself, but will just be focused on this this object um in Nyx's possession and will just be there following it.
00:10:07
Speaker
ah So to add some clarity, I guess, to that image in his left hand would be the book. He's sat cross-legged and in his right hand, almost like

Power Discussions and Intentions Revealed

00:10:13
Speaker
a fidget spinner is the orb either twirling around, just he's playing with it absentmindedly as he's trying to work out the spell. So the sun would be bouncing off it as well as it's sparkling in it. ah Catch that light.
00:10:27
Speaker
You just catch Baal taking in what you're doing next. Baal, how do you react? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He kind of sees that going on. He knows that's Nyx's thing.
00:10:41
Speaker
He likes to pore over his books now, and he likes to kind of ah kind of mix and match between the two, the books and the orb. So he's he's interrupted several times before. He's not going to this time.
00:10:52
Speaker
um And he mentioned earlier that when he was trying vile up some of the... um Oasis, he said that he can potentially create some more vials. So that's what he's going to be doing with the time. if they' If they're taking a bit of time now, he's going to be getting his glassblower's tools out, um various components and chemicals and kind of elements of sands and things. And he's going light a bonfire, um obviously snort out a bit of bit of a bonfire out of his nostril and start going about that process that will take however long it takes.
00:11:21
Speaker
Okay.
00:11:24
Speaker
It would seem appropriate with that much work that's going into what Nixon Bala doing that this is grounds for short rest if anyone wishes to take one. So an hour will have passed. Anyone fancy staying here longer than an hour? we could just spend the afternoon, nay, and evening.
00:11:39
Speaker
i don't know about you guys could do with a sleep.
00:11:44
Speaker
ah Seth would have lied there for the entire hour. like unmoving. um And Nith would have continued to watch the orb as long as the orb is out. um But at at the moment of a long, a long arrest, we'll just look up at Nix's eyes for a minute and then look back down towards the kind of orb book area and um then continue staring.
00:12:06
Speaker
And Nix, could you make a perception check? As you don't really trust this closet an awful lot and it's quite close to some treasure some precious things that you possess.
00:12:21
Speaker
ah Can I say that Nyx is now, he's not the young tiefling kind of just hunting for power without consequence or understanding they the intrinsic nature of the arcane.
00:12:37
Speaker
And so he's so... deep in this research, especially with the spell that he's got in mind, that he rolled a natural one on that perception check.
00:12:49
Speaker
Fantastic. Your passive would still count because you're focusing on your orb. Yeah, you're focusing on your orb, but you're seeing this quasit there that's still in your vision. Yeah.
00:13:00
Speaker
You'd notice about four dozen tiny spiders in the sand that seem to be forming a bit of a
00:13:11
Speaker
a line between you and the Quazit. Almost like they're trying to create a boundary. Are they trying to protect you? Are they trying to capture it?
00:13:25
Speaker
It's not clear, but they are they're holding a line between you. about If Nithravar is five to six feet away, they're holding ah an equidistant sort three-foot line from the creature.
00:13:44
Speaker
Interesting. i never

Protection and Reflections on Power

00:13:47
Speaker
seen you guys do this as Nyx looks down at the spiders. Is this protection thing?
00:13:58
Speaker
And Nyx will just extend his hand out towards Nifrva over the spiders to see if they move to and then move the line to where his fingertips are.
00:14:10
Speaker
Just he leans out leans out from his seated position. The sort of foot that you gain from that lean, they make a foot advance towards Nithravar.
00:14:22
Speaker
Nix is going to look down towards Nithravar at that.
00:14:31
Speaker
You'll have to mind, my friends. I'm not entirely sure what they're doing.
00:14:37
Speaker
oh you are very fixated on me.
00:14:41
Speaker
He's going to snap at at that comment and look directly up at you, then down towards the... It's almost like he's been asleep, like with his eyes open, and suddenly kind of comes to in this realm and area and looks up at you, looks down at the spiders and takes it all in.
00:14:55
Speaker
You can't see emotion on it, really, but you you notice a quickness to its motion its face and then, ha! I wonder, do they pity their prey as they wrap them tight? Or do they whisper in the hush of heartbeats, be still, you were always meant for this.
00:15:13
Speaker
I try not to think about what they do to the victims that they take to the seas. Pray tell, tiefling. Does my demeanour make you feel uncomfortable?
00:15:31
Speaker
I've travelled with some weird people and so some crazy creatures. No.
00:15:43
Speaker
Your presence doesn't make me feel uneasy or uncomfortable. Once upon civilization we do appear, how will the populace react?
00:15:59
Speaker
Probably not so well if they're not used to the unique and dangerous, I guess. Are you dangerous? Yes. mean, you're big spider in the middle of the sea.
00:16:13
Speaker
And once you've seen that, it's really yeah your bar for things that make you feel uneasy or scare you get set pretty high. He's going jutter a finger towards your um like throat or neck area.
00:16:29
Speaker
And he's looking at that point as well when he just says, your understanding of the dangerous is obsolete. I mean, I'm only just answering your question, really. True. Tell me though, the populace, how must it be best i write to hide? Define populace. Are you talking about Aerith?
00:16:50
Speaker
Mortals! Mortals! He turns around, mortals! And he points to all the others around, even Seth, who now is not laying down, but is sat kneeling in the pool, staring back very stoically at Nithravar and Nix having this conversation, like no emotion on his face.
00:17:06
Speaker
Mortals! Yeah. I mean, and like... Mortals! Right. I get you. I hear you. I hear you. But also, another member of our party, Nick's Points Over at Alpha, has two souls living inside him.
00:17:21
Speaker
So it's it's kind of par for the course, Niff of R, if I'm being honest at the moment. We've all got our own shit to deal with. And obviously, you're intrinsically linked to Seth. So it's kind of...
00:17:32
Speaker
I just assume a thing between you two? Are you saying that your being here involves us all? Or you're tied to us all? At the mention of Seth again, his eyes fixed on Seth and he just stares and almost mutters, but he's not looking at you, he's then muttering to himself, but you hear him.
00:17:50
Speaker
Imagine the foes he could slay, the battles he could win, the doors that would open if he simply embraced what he is.
00:18:00
Speaker
Yeah, I'm going to say that you're here mainly for Seth on that one. ah And look, we're all pretty savvy with each other at the moment. And you don't seem to be causing any harm, so

Crafting and Symbolic Gifts

00:18:14
Speaker
you'll have a pass. But i if you are here to do any nefarious things to our friend...
00:18:22
Speaker
Yeah, that won't go down so well. Nay, nay. And he starts to react more um effluently. as That's not even a word. um Dratically almost with his long claw hands.
00:18:34
Speaker
The book. The tome. Why does he not use it? Why does he not use it? He used to Quite lot, actually.
00:18:46
Speaker
Think more power for him means more victories for you. ah do you prefer hardship? ah ni a though that that sentence, Nix's face kind falls back a bit.
00:19:02
Speaker
There are consequences to using power. And I feel like maybe Seth has started to understand that. And he clicks his nails together. Let him be your storm, your fire.
00:19:16
Speaker
ah Be your reckoning. Reap the rewards of standing beside him. Make him you made him use it. Weakness falls to those who don't.
00:19:29
Speaker
So is that what you want me to do or is that your journey here? You're setting out to make him use this tome book power thing. I have a tome book power thing. Mortal souls are all but one, really. So one and the other is nigh on the same.
00:19:45
Speaker
One uses the other uses, yes?
00:19:50
Speaker
Other realms would work similar.
00:19:54
Speaker
Yeah, I'm sure it does in other ah realms. Look, with Seth, he's going through something at the moment. Like, you know, he's he's not had it easy. He's just got to find his way.
00:20:11
Speaker
He's still here. I mean, if anything, that's a testament to the core of his character. He's still here. He's still ready and willing to, and Nick's just a hand, an orbed hand to the air ah to show that the sky.
00:20:27
Speaker
He's still here to fight this. And he doesn't feel himself and he doesn't feel as powerful and he's going through some stuff. And each of those ands, imagine the orb moves, and Nithra's eyes move with the orb each time, and he's still focusing again on the orb as he... And I'm starting to see why you're looking at me so much. It's not me, it's this.
00:20:49
Speaker
And Nix will hold it out. You ask him to fight blindfolded, chained, and weak for what? Your comfort. I don't think any of us want him to be chained, blindfolded.
00:21:04
Speaker
I mean... He's a fierce warrior. We need him on our side.
00:21:12
Speaker
He's just walking his own path at the moment. He's going to turn at that and um he's going to look down towards the spiders a little bit and let out a little growl and then turn around and start like scuttling off but purposefully slowly and will just kind of mutter over his shoulder. Oh, yes, hold him back.
00:21:27
Speaker
Let him squander what's inside him. Why fight with fire when when you could poke your enemies with a stick? and it will just kind of scuttle off on the sand and just kind of go up towards... You can look in it if you want. And he's just going to um scuttle off he's going to be nosy. It's a nosy little scuttly thing um but this moment. But if you look back towards Seth, he's still just kneeling up in the water, just watching Nithrava and the conversation he's been having really, really kind of like seriously.
00:21:54
Speaker
And as he kind of moves away from Nix, you see Seth kind of just plop back into the water and just continue floating again. And now my voice says, 20 minutes.
00:22:07
Speaker
Get some chamomile tea. It'll help you out. What's the spiders doing now? As Niprava retreats away, the spiders just return into your sleeves, into your socks, into your boots.
00:22:22
Speaker
No longer really visible. Oh, Barl, you're a lucky, Dragonborn. Ha ha ha.
00:22:30
Speaker
I imagine Baal gets out of bed, they're just spiders in the bed.
00:22:36
Speaker
Nix wakes up and Baal's casting speak with animals like, do it again, guys, do it again. Baal, they've never come near you. Well, there we are, too hot.
00:22:49
Speaker
Alpha. You're currently just sat like a floater in the middle of this oasis. Ha ha ha! What are you doing? Is he in the middle? mid he Is he quite a distance away from us all?
00:23:02
Speaker
No, he's only like 30 feet or so, and it's only about a foot deep. So he's sat up. Alpha's been given this as much time as what he could do. He's submerged himself. He's disappointed that there wasn't anything that kind of happened with relation to the ah princess.
00:23:20
Speaker
He tries to take a page out of... other people's ah books and relax and chill. But it's not something that comes natural to him, even in this glorious state.
00:23:35
Speaker
His mind is still processing so many things. um And after a few minutes, probably during this conversation, he's just going to kind of stand back up, um make his way...
00:23:51
Speaker
over to dry land where we kind of first came into the oasis area where the trunks snoozing um

Questioning Motives and Justice

00:23:58
Speaker
or chilling.
00:24:02
Speaker
He takes a quick glance at everybody else is kind of enjoying, but he's going to, instead he's going to do what kind of knows and try and do the iconic style of things. He can't chill. He can't relax. So we're going to try and work on things. This new power that's kind of going through him.
00:24:15
Speaker
He's described it already as being, more natural than artificial. Um, so it kind of flows through his body differently. And if anybody were to look over, you'd kind of seem just ah concentrating on this chaos that seems to go through him.
00:24:32
Speaker
Um, working on, building up this power to certain points, trying to experiment and see what it can do. And he kind of chucks out an odd bit of gust of wind, um a few little lightning sparks that kind of come off. But maybe even though a little bit still chaotic, but still a little bit more controlled as he's just practicing on the corner, just trying to... Can you be careful? You just blew my hat off.
00:25:00
Speaker
My apologies. i I wasn't aiming for you. This is still... Something quite new. Yeah, I'm really glad that you're practicing all this power, especially lightning, in the Oasis area. I think that's really sensible.
00:25:16
Speaker
I shall move away a little bit further. And Alpha's going to walk. What? What would did you just say? What's that word? furtherer.
00:25:29
Speaker
and It's been a long day. It's the water got into you. Perhaps I shall make some distance between us. and I was going to kind of casually start to walk away, even as Nick is trying to talk to him, and just further away from that. I don't go too far. He's probably pushing out another good 40, 50 feet away from everybody else.
00:25:51
Speaker
That's quite far. Alpha. Alpha. Ali. ah ah You hear all

Caravan Park Arrival and Town Mysteries

00:26:01
Speaker
of this. There's no wind.
00:26:02
Speaker
You're hearing everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Alpha can hear everything. He's just at that distance. He's just kind of not responding to Nyx at the moment. I am older!
00:26:16
Speaker
Nothing happens. Good. Fuck you. um And he's still not, but he so he will get back um to obviously just kind of trying to channel this energy into him. His back is facing everybody else at this stage.
00:26:34
Speaker
And as you head on further into that oasis, you can make a perception check.
00:26:43
Speaker
I can certainly try. ah I was blind as a f***ing bat. Natural one. Yeah, hit buddy. Two natural ones. Two natural ones. Two natural ones.
00:26:57
Speaker
Woof. Never mind. shit It's still a three, Callum. Emron, I think he's going to fucking explode. i can see sparks flying out of him. Best day of his life.
00:27:14
Speaker
Bal, can you just hit me with an intelligence check? ah Are you proficient in glassblower's tools? I am indeed. And add your proficiency bonus as well, please. Nice one. Thank you very much, friend. yes i was looking into this.
00:27:26
Speaker
um Come on. Okay, so it is a 15 overall. 15? ah you're you're specifically trying to make as many vials as possible in this time? well Well, I mean, not as many as possible.
00:27:42
Speaker
there's There's something that i kind of wanted to do with one of them. um And that was to not not just make a vial, but actually kind of shape one of the vials. Mm-hmm.
00:27:55
Speaker
so obviously he's got He's got his tools there as well. so he just kind of the the The other two would be relatively standard. they're still He's going for something kind of intricate and like the stuff that he creates is relatively kind of unique, but there's one in particular that he's trying to shape in a certain way.
00:28:12
Speaker
can um i can tell you exactly what that is if if if you like. cool I think me and the listeners would love to know. Okay. What are the vials? The third one that he creates, he's kind of been listening to this. He's been seeing everything and also still going through his mind is that calm serenity, that memory, that

Guild Visit and Adventure Hints

00:28:31
Speaker
that link that he has.
00:28:32
Speaker
And since he's come back to the group, he's kind of, he's aware of what they're doing and he knows that he's trying trying to create these vials to to to hopefully kind of capture an essence of what what kind of overcame him and and some of the other members of the party.
00:28:46
Speaker
But his... but his mind as well, seeing as though kind of Alpha had been submerged for quite a while, is drifting across to Alpha. And what he wants to do with the last vial is he wants to try to create it kind of in the shape of a Sphinx.
00:29:05
Speaker
um Specifically one of the Ando Sphinxes that was on Reigns' armor. Mm-hmm. um kind of So it's not just a container. He's trying to kind of make a bespoke ornament that can that can serve that as well as almost like a memento for him. Because like I said, going through his mind is the is his past, his his safe place, his kind of thing there. And it's very much fresh in his mind that Alpha's, I mean, technically lost a part of himself that that that is that.
00:29:42
Speaker
Sure. The key ingredient in glass being sand, which you have readily available to you in the desert. ah Yes, with that roll, you're able to make two regular small vials.
00:29:54
Speaker
And then this sort of showstopper piece, which has a capacity of ah about half a litre.
00:30:03
Speaker
when you when you factor in all the space that's available. And yes, you are able to very accurately remake it in the style that matches what you've seen Reigns' iconography or heraldry.
00:30:16
Speaker
Awesome. um And the the with sand being one of the those components, he has a vial that he kind of scooped up when he left the lair of Chandra Le Carr as well. And despite that that not necessarily being his heritage, it still plays a massive part within who Baal is. So he's used some of some of, not all of, the sand from that. So he's infusing or trying to infuse kind of part of his own heritage and memory within it as well.
00:30:41
Speaker
um So yeah, it's it's bespoke, unique, but also holds memory hopefully for him as well and and a connection there. um And with that kind of finally made and clinked off and kind of cooling, he'd probably head over to Alpha to hand it over to him. Would you wait out in the water to meet Alpha or just wait on the bank for Alpha to finish brooding?
00:31:06
Speaker
ah Because he's just walked away from the group, hasn't he? Yeah, into the water. I think, yeah, I think Baal would head out towards him. Seth, you just feel these ripples in the water around you as you're trying to peacefully just lie there and two large bodies would sort of cause you to sort of spin on the spot a little bit like you're on a turntable.
00:31:27
Speaker
But Baal, Alpha, you're about 60 feet away from the rest of the group. But as you're approaching Alpha, could you make a perception check?
00:31:39
Speaker
Now, what are we going to do if this one's a natty one? End the episode. You have preparation die, you've got two preparation die, and then we have the thing that I'll never say again.
00:31:50
Speaker
Here's a 22, eat shit.
00:31:54
Speaker
The water is draining.
00:31:58
Speaker
You stand in that center where it's deep enough and enough of you submerge and you just feel that ever so slight pull of like when you're in the bath and you know the water is getting lower and lower when you're over the plug hole. You're getting that sensation.
00:32:12
Speaker
And looking around from from what I can see from where I'm kind of standing, does it look like kind of like when you pull the plug out, does it look like there's like ah a whirlpool forming at some point where it's kind of draining from a spot or is it just draining not Not yet.
00:32:30
Speaker
you just you just You can just feel the downward pull of force from your knees down. Okay. um Then, probably before I even get to Alpha, if he kind of notices that, he will pipe up.
00:32:44
Speaker
ah Alpha, it's... It feels like the water's changing, perhaps getting a little shallower. I'm not sure what's going on. It might be best that we head back towards the sands.
00:33:02
Speaker
I've not felt anything. What do you mean shallower? It seems to be the same depth as anywhere else around here.
00:33:10
Speaker
i can feel it, Alpha.
00:33:14
Speaker
It's leaving. I don't know whether it's a signal of something bad or not, but something's definitely changed.
00:33:23
Speaker
Can you isolate where the pull is? And Barwell again kind of scan the surface. It's not easy to tell yet.
00:33:37
Speaker
Perhaps I'll be able to if we stay here for longer, but I don't trust it.
00:33:47
Speaker
One moment. Alpha is going to kind of dunk his head under the water um and just have a look-see round. He's got no fear of water at the moment. He doesn't need to have any kind of concerns about drowning.
00:34:03
Speaker
Aside from sort of the animals that sort of spread away when you make such a large ripple, maybe Seth reacts because it's quite a large splash as this 20 kilogram head just smacks into the water. Yeah, it's set up.
00:34:18
Speaker
Yeah. Make a perception check as you're sort of trying to look around them the bed of this oasis. Nine. Nine.
00:34:32
Speaker
can't really tell what's going on other than just the water seems to be pulling and draining into the sand beneath you. It doesn't seem to be any sort of nefarious thing, nothing that your danger senses aren't alerted to. Okay, he's going lift his head but went straight back out of the water and um
00:34:54
Speaker
i can see some side things, but if it will make you feel comfortable, we can obviously head back to the side of the oasis near the sand. Just in case.
00:35:08
Speaker
You can never really I appreciate the concern. It was something I had not noticed. um And if Alpha starts kind of heading back, Baal will have in one of his hands this this this vial that he's created as well.
00:35:24
Speaker
And as as they're perhaps walking back together, he'll just look over and say, i um I appreciate that things are a little bit ah different and maybe difficult, Alpha. um And it's not much, I know, but um I made this for you.
00:35:50
Speaker
And he'll hand over the vial. For me? Why?
00:35:57
Speaker
As...
00:36:00
Speaker
something that you can use as a container for, I don't know, potions or the water, the oasis, something beneath. But I, well, I, that's, ah it's it's meant to look like a sphinx.
00:36:17
Speaker
I know that I've fucked up the face a little bit, but you can clearly see there that there's, there's, that's where the eyes are and that the body, the cat. and It's, I tried to make it look a bit like Reigns' armor.
00:36:33
Speaker
Alfred going to kind of hold it, look at it, and examine it um just for a few seconds. um I think it's beautiful.
00:36:47
Speaker
Thank you, Bo.
00:36:49
Speaker
and Yes, my pleasure.
00:36:57
Speaker
It feels very delicate in Alfred's hands as well, this glass vial. Seth, you're floating, Seth, on the water and your butt just hits the bed of the oasis. Is there anything you want to do?
00:37:13
Speaker
Yeah, it would have um he would have set up sat up once Alfred dunked his head, returned, and then at that bump, he's been in there long enough, he's going to be getting out. And as he does, he looks over to where Emron is sat and sat directly in front of Emron, cross-legged-ish, with his tiny little pathetic legs on the floor as Nithrava staring at Emron, um as he seems to be in, correct me if wrong, Will, but in some kind of like catatonic, euphoric state at the moment? Or is he chilling?
00:37:44
Speaker
no no, no, because nobody's asked me what I've been doing for the hour. um no um I was actually going to...
00:37:50
Speaker
ah that's why i was That's why I was including in this book, Will. So so um once Bile had made his fire in that lot, what um everyone was going to do...
00:38:03
Speaker
ah didn't want to jump in. you know You'd gone round people, didn't want to jump in. Shots fired, bro. i i What I want to do, actually, before we go any further... So Nix has been sitting there this entire time. Bile's making another fire. Reigns is back.
00:38:19
Speaker
yeah Everyone's going to walk off in the desert. Emron, what are you doing? Emron. Emron, what are you doing over there? Inspired by what um Will Hadbal do. I'd like to use my um smithing tools.
00:38:35
Speaker
Okay. And the fire that he has. I'm going to make some ah firearm bullets for a certain person who doesn't have ammo for his gun. Okay. um And ah being that need metal, I'm going to be using the silver because and use the silver coins I've got in order to create some fire on bullets because assume that's the ammunition that ah Alpha needs. Is that correct?
00:38:58
Speaker
Yep. Callum? Yes, it is. cause it costs about Because its cost is about three gold pieces. um ah think the rules are i need to I need to spend about half. Is that correct? 24?
00:39:12
Speaker
d d twenty four
00:39:16
Speaker
Why do you ask us when you're the rules lawyer? I can tell you it is. You've had all this time. You've had all this time. We've purposely left you alone, Will, so you could have a look at this information. Hey, Emron, what are you doing right now? No, no, no, I do. It says to make an item, you need raw materials worth half its purchase cost, rounded down. Why'd you ask us a question, bitch?
00:39:34
Speaker
Well, because I didn't want Danny to assume I'm making shit up. I never assumed that. I need spend half the amount and it costs three gold pieces. I'm going to spend about 15 silver pieces because there's 10 silver pieces to a gold.
00:39:49
Speaker
but Is that half or round dice? Yes. Okay, that's fine then. Continue. um um And I will make, essentially make um some fire on bullets, which I believe come in, it's I believe it's 10 I make.
00:40:05
Speaker
Yes, if you can make a strength check for me. Unless you're doing your cleric ability. No, not using the cleric ability this time because don't want you're just straight using Smith's tools, i need you to make a strength check. Plus your proficiency.
00:40:16
Speaker
Yeah.
00:40:19
Speaker
Meh. That's 11. Yeah. You're able to make what you need to make. Cool. Now, they are they are made out of silver, so i don't if that will have any mechanical um things. Well, I would assume they're silver bullets at that point.
00:40:34
Speaker
Yeah. So I'll make 10 bullets and whenever I get a chance, i'll give to Alfred at some point. Great. So that's why, so everyone's been doing that almost because of his, his memory and his reverie that he was in. It's almost like he's slipping into that best day of his life.
00:40:46
Speaker
ah yeah a title Um, then obviously, obviously, um, the little Quasit will obviously then probably be watching. emron in this like reveries he's as he's got his his traveling blacksmith tools out and he's he's melting the the silver and and pouring it into the molds to create these these bullets because emron's probably done this before alpha was able to make infusions probably did this a long time ago perhaps to make this for alpha hasn't had to do it in a while because and every now and then nith nith asks a question um almost to himself but you you hearing is directed towards you emron um and it starts with uh
00:41:25
Speaker
What happens when your enemy also fights for justice? It's a good question. So it will cross that bridge when we come to it. So quick to judge, so quick to punish, so quick to forget when it suits you.
00:41:40
Speaker
ah do what i see is right. Righteous fury is always just rage, but with a better tailor. Well, you do you.
00:41:53
Speaker
And he's just going to watch, pun um as the the I guess you're hitting shit, um and just just watches. And when, and this is the last one, trust me, and and when your crusade ends, what then?
00:42:07
Speaker
What's left of you when and the war is over? I don't know. I suppose, you know when I started out, I never really expected to be involved in this.
00:42:19
Speaker
giant big conflict you know I suppose I was just doing what was doing so find a nice forge somewhere and be happy to make my way in the world Through that response, Nithravar's tongue longer and longer and longer just slowly elongates out of his mouth.
00:42:37
Speaker
And then as you finish, it it disappears but behind the maw of teeth and um he turns and starts muttering as he walks off and you hear him, i bet you taste of devotion, bitterness and salt.
00:42:48
Speaker
And they're just kind of titters off again towards Trunks to stare and ask me again and ask Trunks questions to with no response. I'm sure I can banish him again.
00:42:59
Speaker
Yeah.
00:43:02
Speaker
everyone sort of made his bullets he's sort of looking around and probably notices Seth sitting up or whatever and the others and we'll say an hour therefore has passed ah is there anything else you'd like to do at the Oasis as you're all watched now is it over the course of the hour has less water in than then when you arrived and it's raining at a rate that's now visible I would just got the benefits of short rest, by the way.
00:43:31
Speaker
hey Yeah, well, you worked through it so technically not. That's fine. that's what i wanted double check. didn't know whether the two were separate. i just wanted to double check because... You could stay for another hour if you wish, though. Well, Nick's one's safe for eight, but, you know... You could stay for eight. As we see the water drain, do we see anything revealed or anything like that? Was the Oasis just a foot across, or are there points where it is deeper?
00:43:59
Speaker
No, the deepest point, which Alpha found was a foot at its deepest point, all you would have noticed from the bank, if you have banks of oasis, but the beach of the oasis, the shore of the oasis, is that the waterline moved about a meter over the course of that hour.
00:44:21
Speaker
So you saw it sort of naturally just a retreat from you.
00:44:30
Speaker
and set The sand is bone dry where it was before as well, within within about a minute of being exposed to the sun. Are there any signs of any like shrubs in that lot from where the oasis because basically um yeah is? it Is it like when water rises up where there have been you know like bushes that lot and then it goes away? Or is it what does it look like this oasis has been there for a while?
00:44:54
Speaker
The vegetation that's grown around it I mean, in in the actual thing. So if this oasis just sprung up, yeah where they were resisting. And then there is sort of shrubbery and um some blades of grass and palm trees.
00:45:08
Speaker
They remain constant, but they're not in the oasis. They're on the sort perimeter. And they're large rocks in the middle of the oasis. No, it's ah it's a really clean, clear pool.
00:45:23
Speaker
everyone start to walk towards... um
00:45:27
Speaker
Well, everyone's thinking, Seth's just going to get out of the water and just start drying himself. He's gone all wrinkly because he's been in the water too long. And if anyone's still sat around, ah I think it's only Nick's really, that's everyone else is paddling.
00:45:40
Speaker
um He's going to get out and with a big grin on his face, he's just going to plonk himself down, maybe we take a few layers off, not too many, ah to dry on the sand and then we'll just sit perched next and just grinning and looking at the water and the sereneness as everyone thinks.
00:45:55
Speaker
and you want find You find yourself drying rapidly in this heat as well. Are we talking like Back to the Future 2 where his clothes... That's a fucking old reference. I can't remember what the suit says. I'm to think what the suit says. Your clothes are drying. No, it's not that... It's not like that quick, but with about 15 minutes, you probably I wanted to make the reference. I know. Yeah. Cupboard dry in 15. Nice.
00:46:23
Speaker
Nice. Is the bars scooped up three vials of the Oasis water? Is the water still in the vials? Yes. They're stoppered. Okay, cool.
00:46:33
Speaker
Cool. I've also filled up my water skin full of that stuff. I think i think we all did that, yeah. god Someone filled up my jug of wants was alchemy. but Are the animals still around?
00:46:44
Speaker
Most of the birds have flown on. The reptiles are sort of continuing to drink. Basking. Yeah. The fish are just like, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. No fish. There aren't any fish.
00:46:57
Speaker
Yeah, there is. Water in Alpha's head and you see a fish swim through the ice.
00:47:06
Speaker
I suppose we've got somewhere to be, somewhere to find. yeah but are you not curious about where this oasis has come from and why it's draining away? In all honesty, Emron, I'm more curious about what the fuck that is doing and Barth pointing to the sky.
00:47:22
Speaker
And the person that we've been sent to find, and I'm also under the impression that there are some more dragon eggs that appear to be being shipped off from Beach Barrier Port. those are Those are the things at the forefront of my mind rather than this wonderful little break. i think I think we were told that there were once dragon eggs being shipped. I don't know. whether there'll be There might not be any there anymore. You don't know that, right?
00:47:45
Speaker
Have you still got your map from, well, technically, in one of the first days that I met you? You know, when I fucked up and started. Oh, the we got from your Chris Grittent? Yeah. Does it have Beach Barrier Port on that?
00:47:58
Speaker
Because it seems to have lots of different areas. it's got got it here. Everyone will get it out. And there's still a purple mark on Beach Barrier Port.
00:48:12
Speaker
From that, do we ascertain that this is... Well, we obviously you know that that's kind of a Kriska stronghold or a strong force there, but with the markings on the map from the very first... I mean, this is going back over a year now.
00:48:27
Speaker
um From the the the markings on that map where the original outpost that we met Seth at was, is it a similar kind of marking there as it is in Beach Barrow Port? Like...
00:48:42
Speaker
Or that like are they kind of... I mean, i guess it's the difference between like an outpost and a garrison and all those other bits and bobs. Has it got the same key notification type of thing? Yeah, and like is it like Arrow's point? to Take the eggs here and move the eggs on from here.
00:48:59
Speaker
How many golden exclamation marks are there? Yeah, it's like a certain number of stars above it to tell us tell us its challenge rating. It's a stronghold. Red exclamation mark. Green or orange. high yeah Is it's the name of Peterborough Port in red, which means we're under-leveled for this? It's the skull next to it.
00:49:16
Speaker
It's the same stamp that's next to the word Scorch Helm, Snake Run, Steel Horn, Flamestar, and the Red Fort. But there is a reference elsewhere to somewhere called the Gold Warehouse in the ledger that you picked up.
00:49:31
Speaker
Yes, okay which we assumed potentially was with Goldview. But there's no different iconography between the purple stamps. Okay, so yeah, Barl's kind of as you've got that that back out, and he's kind of looking over that with you.
00:49:45
Speaker
I mean, it stands to reason that they might be taking them here. to Oh, well, don't go wrong. I think we all agreed that, yeah, there's a possibility this is where they were bringing the eggs to ship them out. I don't want you to get your hopes up and think there's going to be eggs there.
00:49:58
Speaker
I don't want you to only always be disappointed if there aren't. No, no. um But obviously, if there are, absolutely, bonus.
00:50:08
Speaker
Well, I suppose Clip Clop? ah Is Trunks awake yet? Yeah. Oh, good. He's had a nice short rest, Tim.
00:50:22
Speaker
Let's fucking go, motherfuckers! Clip-fucking-clop! Let's go, okay. Let's clip-clop, I suppose. Away from our beautiful oasis. It's gone! mean, look at it. There's like a fucking puddle left, Emron. It's almost gone.
00:50:35
Speaker
I understand, man. You had the best day your life, and I'm here you. You're a good navigator, pal. Do you think you've still got something more water skin for you? would be interesting, pal... You're a navigator. you think you could mark on the map whereabouts this Oasis is, just in case on the way back we need to come back here to, you know, refreshing I mean, if yeah, if it's here, certainly. And Baal will kind of, um from his side, pull out his rod and just kind of geolocate himself with regards to north as well and try and recall with the journey that they've made to this point and see if he can do that.
00:51:12
Speaker
Yeah, you've been tracking this quite um closely throughout this journey. You suspect you're about three miles from Beach Barrow Port. So three miles, marking a point, three miles west of Beach Barrow Port to indicate where this oas so oasis is is no trouble for you whatsoever.
00:51:29
Speaker
Awesome. So you see what he does is he ah just kind of lifts a fingernail up and just breathes fire on it and like scorches one of his own fingernails and just charcoals a little cross onto the map.
00:51:42
Speaker
up there Oh, good. That works. Yeah, it's a pen when you don't have one.
00:51:51
Speaker
Read then. I believe clip-clop is the...
00:51:57
Speaker
Okay. It's a vernacular. As Barl's hanging on your every word, is the... And do do you all hop onto the cart? Let's just go.
00:52:08
Speaker
i'm going to help I'm going to help hook up Trunks. If we all jump on the cart, then we hook Trunks. Trunks never disconnected. Oh, did he not? No. I thought we disconnected the poor beast. Poor bugger. He's had this cart attached to it the whole time.
00:52:21
Speaker
Could you make an animal handling for me, Seth, when you sort of get back into that position and begin to start your checks to steer and turn around and get back to the road that you have diverted from?
00:52:33
Speaker
a problem. Guidance! as ah As Nix has started to understand your checks like you would before a flight, and so just pats you on the shoulder just to give you that little push.
00:52:47
Speaker
No problem. Yeah. What is that again? A D6? One D4. D4. To any ability check. Using Viagra for a shows skill check. Yeah. If Nick leans over and pops a blue pill in your mouth.
00:52:59
Speaker
Just take it. and That is with the guidance 15.
00:53:05
Speaker
You begin to sort use use the lead ah that you're so used to to controlling trunks by. And it's almost like you're in sync you're able to manipulate him with a very light touch at the of the rope that's tethered to the mouthpiece he holds when you're in transit mode, if you will.
00:53:27
Speaker
And he's sort of... It's like going on autopilot. Everything you're asking him to do, he does without you having to strain. He understands exactly, and there is a bit of a connection between you both in this in this this moment.
00:53:37
Speaker
And you're able to... steer clear of the more uneven divots that exist in these dunes that you found yourself on and head back towards the road within about five minutes.
00:53:51
Speaker
you click And and you clop eastward. It takes you at Trunks' is sort of new adrenal state, the speed he is is moving at and the assurity at which Seth is navigating this road.
00:54:10
Speaker
you pass over this cliff, more of a hill, more of a steep incline out of this bowl that you've been in for few hours.
00:54:24
Speaker
And the moment you sort of reach the, the crescendo is not the right word, but the, the turning point of this incline, Seth, that you've been on for about 15, 20 minutes, Nick's your ears, your horns just perk up as you see on the horizon, the sea, ah see, and you feel, and the moment this, you sort of emerge from this bowl, you're hit.
00:54:47
Speaker
with this wave of this briny breeze that makes your sort of skin tingle, the nerves on every single part of your body just respond with an elation.
00:55:02
Speaker
You start seeing Nick just move a little bit in the in the seat next to your yourself as if just vibing to the to the sea and the waves and the smell and the just feeling a little bit lighter, moving a little bit fluid.
00:55:15
Speaker
And the temperature seems to drop by about five degrees to like a really decent high 20s Celsius for American listeners. Celsius Americans? No, no, no. Are there any other conversions for that? That's Fahrenheit.
00:55:29
Speaker
No, so twenty twenty twenty high 28s, it's degrees. And I said, we're talking Celsius for our American listeners. Well, that's Fahrenheit. Can you tell me what that like? Fahrenheit, we're in the mid-80s. Have you got any other kind of comparisons? What are the metrics we use to measure this here? Conversions.
00:55:44
Speaker
Okay. Okay. Well, other ways you might think of it is if you ever shove your hand into the very, very pit of your armpit, it's roughly around 25 degrees. Or if you really get compost right, you shove your fist right into the middle of that bad boy and it'll be around the same kind of temperature. um steamy concoction.
00:56:05
Speaker
A question for the listeners. How many of you on that mention did what we just did and stuck your own hand into your armpit? Just to temp check yourself. I was driving when I did it.
00:56:18
Speaker
That's interesting. Or you could argue, no, i can't i can't do any anymore I can't do it that way. I don't know. The temperature isn't, you can't, multiplicities of temperature doesn't make more temperature. That's the problem I'm so i'm suffering with here. But anyway, there you go. It sounds like an excuse, Mark. If it was a warm-up or pie, how many times we have to put it the microwave for? I'm glad you said put it in the microwave and not something else for that.
00:56:41
Speaker
yeah i How many goes on it would you have before becomes... I don't know. Ask Callum. Callum knows the answer to this one. We're talking I couldn't resist that little... I still got the burns.
00:57:00
Speaker
Just because you it on a film doesn't mean that you have to do it yourself. The blisters, man. The blisters. They never go away. Restoration. That's a restoration. No, greater restoration, please.
00:57:13
Speaker
would Just tell your mom we ate it all.
00:57:22
Speaker
Clip clop. Clip clop. Thank you for the comparison of what 28 degrees really feels like. It feels like your armpit. um
00:57:31
Speaker
True. As you sort of breach and you you you take in this sea air and you just look eastward along this road, you see on the horizon this industrial small town.
00:57:44
Speaker
It looks like a series of warehouses and docks with a little bit of a housing district tacked ah district all This does not have the glamour and the the renown of scorch out. This doesn't have the the multitude of colours and smells and aromas.
00:58:03
Speaker
This doesn't have the variety of architecture like you're used to in the capital. This is a rundown sea town that has seen better days.
00:58:16
Speaker
But nonetheless, it is civilisation.
00:58:20
Speaker
but When you say so i say it's seen better days, does it look like it's suffered damage like um we saw at Scorch Helm? There's no way you could make that deduction from ah about a mile out. but okay No, this this doesn't look like immediate damage. This just looks like an area that hasn't been well invested or well kept or doesn't necessarily have the appeal of the capital.
00:58:46
Speaker
Bal, as the guide on this journey, could you make an arrival roll, please? Now, what that is, is your survival plus your remaining preparation die.
00:58:59
Speaker
So your survival is a day twenty and you have two preparation die remaining. So you roll two d six as well. 2d6, d20 and your survival modifier please. Give him guidance. yeah Doesn't get it on this check.
00:59:11
Speaker
This is not a... you but have rolls I have to roll 2d6 on top of it. also so So you cannot use preparation die after this moment. They're for the journey. So you always add them onto your arrival roll to see how you fare on finishing your journey.
00:59:26
Speaker
if he rolls I always finish strong. can we Can we be like um Prince Ali coming into Aladdin? There is a whole table.
00:59:39
Speaker
And if if listeners are wanting to access this, I'll find out where this mechanic is from. This is from the Adventures in Middle Earth game book produced by Cubicle 7. and which is a 5e variant of D&D for the Lord the Rings world.
00:59:53
Speaker
And in that, they they get journeying just right. I've read a lot of D&D stuff and a lot of variants, a lot of adaptations, and they get the journey mechanic really right. so And also gives a really good use of the survival skill.
01:00:04
Speaker
and So yes, Baal, there is a huge table of results. And what you tell me from your d20 roll plus survival modifier plus your remaining ah preparation die is what score?
01:00:17
Speaker
22. Thank you very much. ah Okay. As a party, you have advantage on all social checks.
01:00:28
Speaker
That is deception, intimidation, persuasion, or performance. ah yeah Until you fail one. oh Oh, no.
01:00:40
Speaker
Alpha, just stay in the car.
01:00:43
Speaker
I will not talk to anybody. so that is a continuous advantage until you fail one. Obviously, if you have disadvantage for any other means, that will negate that. But nonetheless.
01:00:55
Speaker
Cool. Is there anything you want to do before you get to the point where you are clearly heading into town? You have a map. You found it on the corpse of the half, ian well mostly eaten ah dwarf and the satchel that was in the teeth of those creatures. Nix.
01:01:11
Speaker
What time is it? What's the weather doing? It's approaching sunset, but not quite. It's like late afternoon. That's cool. Just thought I'd ask. Just exhausted here.
01:01:23
Speaker
That's all. Just saying. So tired, man. Nick's is just like, he he was a bit invigorated, more than a bit invigorated by the the sense of the sea. But every now and then you just like, you got a Sunday afternoon feeling, stomach's full from lunch. You just got that.
01:01:42
Speaker
Yeah. Takes a deep breath and his eyes closed. Everyone else is like nursing a roast dinner and you're there still like exhausted. Are we coming in via the southern road on the left-hand side of the map? Yes, if you all have access to the map. You're coming in on the south westerly road.
01:02:01
Speaker
So ahead of you are a number of things. You're not quite close enough to see this exactly yet, but...
01:02:09
Speaker
you suspect you're coming in via the caravansary, what you know is where you're likely to park trunks for the for the for this stay. and It's operated just like the same in Scorch Helm and the same in ah Snake Run.
01:02:25
Speaker
And just for our listeners' benefit, if you wanted to know exactly what Beach Bower Port looked like in map form, if you head over to IX page, you will see it.
01:02:38
Speaker
And Facebook and Blue Sky. Oh, yeah. Mr. Blue Sky. After our plug there is complete, you're equipped with a map. ah That's an area we haven't tapped into yet.
01:02:50
Speaker
At Fellowship Bukkake. Oh, geez. Well, we had a good run, guys. We had a good run. You might stop uploading it to certain sites just for views.
01:03:03
Speaker
It's just got the apple bit on there. Callum's apple pie. What do we see? Sorry, Daddy. We're ruining this for you. It's okay. No, no, wait. It's just me. I'm so sorry. Take your time, guys. Have a lovely journey. Take your time.
01:03:17
Speaker
Really. You're heading you got an apple pie?
01:03:23
Speaker
You're heading into this town. And you're not quite close enough yet that you're you're able to see more about the populace or the architecture, but but you're on that road and you see that there is an urban area in front of you.
01:03:35
Speaker
You're equipped with your map and your map has a small legend, which indicates a number of key points of interests in this this town. One being the salt break docks, which is found on the docks on the the the northern shore that sort of skirts this this small town.
01:03:53
Speaker
In the centre of what looks to be a trade district appears to be something called the Shifting June's Bazaar.
01:04:01
Speaker
Nearby to that is an inn called the Coral Throne. Far out towards the north-east of the city is a lighthouse called the Sand Spike Lighthouse.
01:04:15
Speaker
Quite central... Sorry, Danny, um... It's got C as being to the Far East on our map.
01:04:25
Speaker
Not in the middle. I don't know whether that's an error or... Emron's a fucking cartographer now. you spied it. Thank you. Apologies. This must be a Drago map.
01:04:38
Speaker
and so you can never practice the yeah A, C, B, E, D. Got you. Best day of my life. i That's okay.
01:04:51
Speaker
ah Yes, there is an error there. So the the the far northeasternmost point of the map is where you'll find the sand spike lighthouse. Centrally in the town, you'll find the Shrine of the Tides.
01:05:03
Speaker
Unsure what that is, but it's listed. The one thing you are pulled to, one of a couple of things, is a familiar name. In the heart of the sort of Docklands area is the office of the Vossan Trading Company, a name that you are familiar with.
01:05:21
Speaker
Not too far, you'll find the Goldfin Guildhouse.
01:05:26
Speaker
a bathhouse to the far east as you exit the town on the other road is an air is ah is a venue called the Pearlbourne Baths.
01:05:37
Speaker
Perhaps the closest to you in the industrial area as you head towards the caravanistry is what was listed in the letter that you read, the Sailmakers Guild.
01:05:51
Speaker
And then what you can only assume is the name of an inn or tavern, the Crimson Eel, which also exists in the residential area to the east of the town.
01:06:02
Speaker
So daylight is still with you. It is still working hours. You are approaching Beach Barrow Port.
01:06:14
Speaker
Where are you heading?
01:06:17
Speaker
Bile will kind of reverse cowgirl again on the top of ah Trunks and just kind of pipe up and say, we're almost there. We need some sort of a plan.
01:06:29
Speaker
Preferably like ah a, so well, yes, but a safe haven. Definitely for Trunks. Well, I assume that we can leave him and kind Bahl speaking up because obviously they're still moving.
01:06:40
Speaker
i'm I'm assuming we can leave him at the regular place. The Caravansary. I can't say the fucking word. Caravansary. That's the one. The parking lot. Omnipro's voice in the skies.
01:06:53
Speaker
Oh, look, a pigeon just flew over. cool I can speak with animals. It's fine. But do we get, choose one of the inns as our base of operations?
01:07:06
Speaker
Maybe it's worth, being as the Sailmakers Guild is our cover story in, it might be worth popping there to see whether we can get a lay of the land from someone who's in the area before we choose a base of operations because we have no idea what we're going into.
01:07:22
Speaker
Genuinely, the best place to go, and my very, very humble opinion, is to go to the Caravan of Saravad. Well, we're going to go there anyway, Nick. Let's talk about after that. Oh, after that. Oh, yeah. No, but it like that's a good place as any to get a lay of the land. I agree with you.
01:07:36
Speaker
um
01:07:39
Speaker
To the caravan-versary? you reckon Caravan-versary? Caravan-sary. To the caravan park. Do you reckon Carimza? I love that you think there was just one guy who was there to park trunks. Just Nurse Joy.
01:07:56
Speaker
There's loads of Karims in a carin. There's a Karim in every town. ah He's our version of Kang. and He disappears everywhere. So you head through now northward as this road bends, the the shore, the other side of this town.
01:08:17
Speaker
And what's interesting is you're moving through this district and there's a bit of a, you move past some sort of farms and larger estates, but there doesn't seem to be anyone around.
01:08:29
Speaker
The roads are quiet. Doesn't appear to be families in this part of town. And all of the structures seem really new. Like there is no architecture here that's that matches the age of sort of places you saw in Scorchham or indeed anywhere you're native from. Like this looks like stuff has been built recently, that the everything is rushed, everything is wooden and everything is relatively beautiful.
01:08:56
Speaker
perfectly planned it's not like a city has been built as i said like a settlement has been built ages ago and it was also expanded upon this this seems like quite a ah new settlement you move past a couple of ah residential buildings before you see this sort of enclosed or was by like by like um almost like a paddock uh structure that you can see a few horses moored up, a single elephant and and about so a dozen carts that again, empty.
01:09:30
Speaker
And there is just this sort of lone tabaxi wandering between the two that seems to be sort of refilling water troughs, feeding animals, and then just sort of generally tending to the area.
01:09:45
Speaker
There is a ah smell of sort of stagnant manure and it is ah not the most well-kept, but it is operational.
01:09:59
Speaker
You guys sort of steer trunks in and this tabaxi just waves you down. Animal feed in one hand and ah and a bucket of water in the other.
01:10:10
Speaker
Welcome.
01:10:14
Speaker
Please, are you here to park?
01:10:19
Speaker
ah you Yes, yes, we are here to park. balshit it said How did you know that? You are indeed an astute individual. We are here to park. How much, pray tell, to to secure our wonderful trunks here for... And Nix will look back towards the group. and Evening two, three...
01:10:43
Speaker
A few days at least. few days at least. Leave it open for a bit. ah so With the possibility to extend if the service is better than normal. This black furred tabaxi sort of leans to one side as you all sort park up and just inspects from a distance all of the vehicle that is that is involved here.
01:11:06
Speaker
ah gold for the day, per day, and will you want a bath? Yeah, think Trunks would love that. He's quite partial to some water.
01:11:18
Speaker
Actually, we didn't come too far from an oasis just back there. He seemed to have a whale of a time. Well, not a whale of a time because he's a fucking elephant, but he seemed to have an elephant of a time gozzling down some water. So if you could give him a bath, I think he'd really enjoy that. How much extra would that be on top of the gold per day?
01:11:33
Speaker
And what do we get extra with this gold? Is it just like he's just going to stay there or do we get some sort of security? Does he get like a pampering session? Maybe some nuts? He loves some peanuts.
01:11:44
Speaker
I'll feed him. I'll lock up the car. You'll have our security involved. What's your security involved? Well, it's me. and And I am not saying that you are not security, sir. Look at you. Wow. I mean, I bet that people would turn away from you in the street, but not to be disrespectful, because obviously if you're in a bar, I would probably want to have a drink. But just in the street, in a time of a event fearsome presence, you've clearly got it all. But have you got any more? Is it just you?
01:12:16
Speaker
No one's stolen from me, ever. I believe you.
01:12:22
Speaker
Gold for the day, silver for the bath. Check on all areas. Thank you very much. Welcome to Beach Barrowport.
01:12:34
Speaker
Yes, about that. It's quite a jovial town, isn't it? there It's absolutely not. You're getting that sense like there's not a lot of people here. Like, is that always the case? Is it quite quiet? Is it one of those kind of peaceful, idyllic, scenic, silent routes where you come and contemplate one's life's thoughts and feelings? Or was there a hustle and puzzle? It just seems a little bit odd.
01:13:00
Speaker
Well, after that thing appeared in the sky, everyone left. ah To where? Don't really know.
01:13:11
Speaker
yeah Most people lived and worked here, well, they were purple cloaks, so um they've all got called South, I think. Where do you recommend the best place? Because obviously we've come to you to make sure that our trunks here is nice and safe and well-rested. What's your business here in Beach Barrow Port?
01:13:34
Speaker
ah We are, are here for... we are here for I don't to for you. represent a representative of Clan Shadow Shield. I'm here to see Guildmaster Sandrope of the Sailmakers Guild.
01:13:49
Speaker
Right, yes. bunch of you came in the other week. Yeah. Well, you know where you going then. Yeah, I do. We do know where we're going. Yes, but also, just from a local's point of view, because you have your businesses and you have your guilds and they're all trying to kind of push their ways, but you, yourself, the local, where would you suggest there's a good place to stay for rest place?
01:14:09
Speaker
If you want pampering, then pub-born baths, you know, just a bit of R&R. Do they also have beds there? No. Is it just a spa type thing?
01:14:21
Speaker
It's just a bathhouse. I mean, that sounds nice, but if you were to, like, If you're looking in somewhere to lay down, i wouldn't recommend the Crimson Eel. That's just for locals. So your only real bet is the ah Coral Throne and I've seen better days.
01:14:38
Speaker
ah Well, I will... You've come from the capital, I take it. That's correct. Yes. We don't have the same sort of luck here. Well, perhaps Guildmaster Sandro might be able to give us some suggestions, perhaps. Yeah. But we will heed your advice as well. And if we go to the Cold Throne, who shall we say sent us there as a recommendation? I'm not so sure he'll get you particularly far, but the name's Noreen.
01:15:05
Speaker
Noreen. Noreen Duskvale. That is an amazing name. I'm go have to write that down. It's so good.
01:15:14
Speaker
Thank you. And this is Emron Akort. Is it just your name you want written down? only need one. Yeah, you can put my name down. The most important one.
01:15:25
Speaker
Any other faces here I need to know?
01:15:29
Speaker
Will it only be you five picking up? Yeah, just a five, yeah. Yeah, if any any other faces, any faces try and pick up our elephant, you you you use that persuasion technique to tell them to fuck off.
01:15:46
Speaker
Don't worry, I've got my methods. ah That's an interesting face, pointing at Alpha. Oh, he's special. Like a leftover Halloween costume. What's Halloween?
01:15:59
Speaker
I do not know. I've never seen one of you before. I'm a Nacavolo. yeah Just put your cards on the table there, Alpha. Let's go.
01:16:10
Speaker
See how that works out. He's quite special. He's not from a around here. He's from ah from foreign lands. ah I am a construct. A what? if that A construct, if that helps you. Alpha, perhaps we've taken enough of this man's time, this person's time, and everyone sort of fishes out four gold and sort of passes it over to um so are a nice... ah man and sort of here's money in advance of you know thank you four days and did just this just pays us up just in case we stay longer and then if we didn't stay longer we'll bring more gold to you okay I have a rule you get one day grace period if I don't hear with you in five days I'll just release him
01:16:53
Speaker
Yeah. Fair enough. Okay. I don't know if that's fair enough. No, because then he'll die. Leave the man to do his business next and let's go. Okay. Well, ah before we do depart and ah thank you for your ah patronage, but like, or with the patrons, I guess. ah But I guess I'm just saying like, if we come back and Trunks is all like, well looked after and even happier than he is now, our little drunks, look at him.
01:17:21
Speaker
Oh, there'll be more gold into this for you. um Like a judgment of service. You know what mean? The better you do, the more that's put to you. You're savvy.
01:17:33
Speaker
I'll keep him clean and fed. that's That's the bare minimum. But i anything else, then there's more on top. But thank you very much for your time. What else is there? I'll just look at him like he's ah his own little person and he got a little cheeky wank in his eye and he's just so adorable. Look, oh my God. Shall we get on our way?
01:17:56
Speaker
We love this elephant like a one of our own. Just saying. I can tell. I'll look after him. Don't worry. Thank you very much.
01:18:07
Speaker
Thank you very much. Do need any directions or you know where you're going? Oh, know where we're going. just down the street and then down the left. It's down the street and on the left, see? Right. Emron will collect his stuff from the back of the cart so we don't leave anything valuable there. Mm-hmm.
01:18:22
Speaker
And, but with your passive perception, as high as it is, you just note that Noreen, between conversing with Nix, Alpha, and Emron,
01:18:38
Speaker
Every moment there is to just sort of look away awkwardly, looks at you, then looks back to who he was talking to throughout that entire exchange.
01:18:50
Speaker
and Seth pays no mind other than just that one time scan to what your face was. But every time that there was a break in concentration, it was looking at you.
01:19:04
Speaker
You disembark, I presume, yeah, from the cart and head on foot through the town. And you're you're headed, as I understand, towards the Sailmaker's Guild.
01:19:19
Speaker
Oh, we're jumping straight into this. Hey, Seth, you look like you want to say something. Is this kind of a ah telepathic thing or you... he's just It was more of a me thing actually, more a Mark thing.
01:19:30
Speaker
It was just that, um, what's this closet doing? Um, just so he's away. Um, he's, we will have naturally tucked himself under the the fold of, of, um, Seth's cloak and we'll be pretending to hide in there, even though he can just travel through the planes of time.
01:19:46
Speaker
But he'll just be hiding from mortal eyes, as he says to Seth, um in and amongst the cloak and maybe sometimes warping through Seth's leg, which feels a bit chilly. and But he's just kind of in that area under the folds of of the cloak. And when he disembarks, he kind of does something similar or hides in the hood of the cloak and just one big eye is just bulging out and watching.
01:20:08
Speaker
And just in case people wondering how he he's just standing there and no one's noticing this disgusting closet. And you'll know, Seth, as well, there was from Noreen, there was very little surveillance or inspection happened there. Just one cursory look at how many people, how big this that the cart was.
01:20:28
Speaker
It wasn't ah like a routine inspection like the Chrisker would do where it might solicit that sort of um need to disguise him. um There's certainly no challenge either. But you head into the town and it's quiet.
01:20:45
Speaker
you're looking at an area that should be as industrious as the gray glass quarter Scorch Helm. And that plume of sort of amber smoke from burning Keltrad just doesn't exist here. And that that sense of industry isn't here.
01:21:00
Speaker
This looks like this was once full of people and it is super quiet in comparison.
01:21:09
Speaker
you take a left off the main singular road that stretches through Beach Barrow Port, head between the alleys and you're following on, well, you're seeing it at the distance towards the port is the emblem of the Sailmakers Guild that is on the letter that you received, that that is that is ah iconed into the letter that you read.
01:21:36
Speaker
And as you head towards that bay, you look out across the ocean. ni You take that big breath in.
01:21:46
Speaker
There's a ship. There's one ship moored.
01:21:53
Speaker
None of you have seen before.
01:21:57
Speaker
But listeners, it is the ship.
01:22:06
Speaker
That you... Motherfucker. Motherfucker, it's not. it is Are you serious?
