Speaker: but i'm confident that everyone's kind of gone the six seconds to Whatever.
Speaker: Hello everyone welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop, Madam Draconis, for a live play 5e D&D podcast set in the magical homebrew world of Aerith in the kingdom of Dranak. Joining you for this week's episode is me, Mark, and I am playing the Dragonborn, no I'm not, I'm playing the ah Human Bladesinger, Seth fucking Pharah Reaver.
Speaker: And we've also got a couple of other bastards who are joining us for the journey. One of them is called Will and he's playing a Dragonborn druid called Bal Balcon. I'm Will and I'm eating mini eggs. We've got Ian who's playing a tiefling water cunt, Nick's Corral. Wow.
Speaker: We've got Poobah who plays the human cleric, Clemron. Let's build a sandcastle. And we've got the apple-pine-loving edgelord Callum, who plays the Ward 4 Shard Officer Alpha.
Speaker: I'm a bastard. And last, but by no means least, is our epic engineer, our enigma enchanter, esoteric explorer, the enema emperor, and the exit-hole emancipator, Dungeon Master Danny.
Speaker: I clean butts. Speaking Speaking of, if we just bring it down a bit, listen, let's just bring it down you' like clean butts and you cannot lie. Shatterfisser! That was the best. I don't know if that was intense. I just lie down. You said shatterfisser, Callum. Two and half beers in. i'm I'm here for that now.
Speaker: I think that's immense. Chartificer. That's fantastic. Now, all right, let's let's bring it let's let's bring it down. Let's bring it down. I know we've got some listeners who listen early in the morning. We've got some American listeners. Props out to you.
Speaker: Who listen? it Fuck knows what time you listen to this. But let's bring down, mate. Because speaking of exit hole cleaning, we see old gal... on the latrine, on the toilet, squeezing out God knows what, let's be honest. At that age, it's probably just dust.
Speaker: And he e he sat pontificating life. yeah yeah He's leaning. i feel like he's still got this. He's leaning his ah arm on his knee and his hand is resting on his chin and his fingers are drumming against his jaws. He looks...
Speaker: ah longingly off into the middle distance. His legs are swinging slightly. Like he can't reach the ground of the toilet quite long toes can though. They're scraping the fucking floor, scooping up to shit.
Speaker: And, um, he, uh, he suddenly realizes that we're there and covers his bits for a second and then realizes we're there and then releases his hands from his bits. And then, but I don't know where this is going. He's holding an orb and then he gives us a recap.
Speaker: yeah Just hold on second. There it is. need more fiber. Oh, it's coarse and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere.
Speaker: The boat is called the Torch Tabaxi. Bal is struggling to breathe, and then it stops, and then he feels amazing. It changes with the wind, and he sniffs on said wind the lair of Chandra LaCarr.
Speaker: The group decides to head to the south. With their op, Crisker, Cloggy Clogs on, and Camel Ball, who can now talk. Hump, hump. They get to the sandstorm.
Speaker: Alpha can control the winds now, apparently, and it's fucking beautiful. They find some uanty corpses. The group reach some sort of temple. There's five to six dozen snaky snakes slitting through their legs. Oh, and also the spiders from Arachnia start to flee.
Speaker: You stand in this fishbowl-like blanket of safety, unable to see, however, in any direction past this 50-foot sphere.
Speaker: Above you, dense, dark, swirling sands around you all the same except for what's in front of you. You stand on the precipice of this coming into view.
Speaker: You know you've descended over the last 200 paces or so. You've definitely been going downhill at ah light decline.
Speaker: You've made preparations.
Speaker: Will you take the next step and allow this form into view?
Speaker: Yes. Alpha? You say yes? I say yes. I've shouted back, better prepare yourself. When I'm confident that everyone's kind of gone the six seconds to whatever's... I'll take but cautiously... What was that? that's preparing.
Speaker: Yeah, that's everybody preparing. I think it's also the opening to the episode this week.
Speaker: But repeated several times. With adjusted tones and pitches. Just a loop.
Speaker: You listen really carefully. You'll also hear it in a few seconds when the intro music starts too. yeah I'd love to combine it. Where else can we put this? Ian has a hard job this week.
Speaker: No, I feel like... We can combine this with the other loop we did. I'm just trying to remember what sound you made last time, Callum, that we just put on loop as well. Was that in this campaign?
Speaker: yeah i can only think of maybe a Folly Fizzle Bang electric shock type of thing. It's the only thing that's come into mind. What was that noise? Oh, it was that... um Yes, it was my laugh, weren't it, if it can so be called one? Yeah.
Speaker: Anyhow, you take a step forward and this shadowy, dark mass, this object, this this colossal entity turns out to be ah cliff face, a large cliff face.
Speaker: Hewn into it, however, sit a very withered set of bronze doors, that have been erected into the side of this cliff face.
Speaker: They are imposing and ornate. They are constructed, they aren't natural, they're bronze obviously, but they're built from this heavy aged metal.
Speaker: And as you sort of step a few steps closer, you can see ah one point they were engraved with really intricate detailing, but the buffering of sand over time seems to have eroded the detail.
Speaker: One door is firmly shut. The other is sort of 45% open to 50% open. They are about 60 feet high, and each door is about 20 feet wide.
Speaker: And this cliff face sort of has a 30 foot border of rock all around it. And as you're continuing to step downhill, there are more and more of these carcass corpses. I'm really unsure because there's two different species here in a UNT.
Speaker: Littered in the bowl that sits in front of this brass door, of the bronze door, sorry. How did the party wish to proceed?
Speaker: Is there any decoration on the bronze doors? is there any decoration on the bronze doors Yes, you'd have to get bit closer to inspect it. You could get the instance from this distance that was once really intricately carved, but but it's been buffeted down.
Speaker: right, Seth's going to walk up to the door and he's look at it, look around it a couple of seconds, and then he's going to actually hesitate he's going to look back to the group and wait them to tell him to kick the door in.
Speaker: The door open, so one door is flat, one door is open. don't mind. Okay. I'm just going to wait. Everyone comes over and sort of as they get closer, what can I perceive or see on the doors?
Speaker: Me walking past and straight in. oh like That would have been better That would have been far better If you have just fucking did it In the first place I was thinking if I wanted to do something else But no, I just changed my mind, fuck it That's it, you trigger the traps it's cool Seth's in after him, Seth's right behind him Like boom, if he wasn't going to do it Seth was going to do it Hump hump!
Speaker: Nix runs in While chasing two Emron's reading the door As you all run ahead i I'll jump straight to Emron ah For the quick second Make an investigation check as you sort of run your hands around the door and try and sort of brush off any sticky sand.
Speaker: 12? unless Unless Nick's tapping on the bum as a pass. um No, but there is something. I'm unfortunately not, Emron, but just because i had I did go past and that's all. That's the only reason. But i Yeah. ah Carry on.
Speaker: Okay. Okay. Each door has been handmade, Emron. And you can you can understand that once this was made with a scene, with ah with ah with a purpose, over time this has been worn down. But as you study it, for the few seconds you allow yourself to, it looks like this was once
Speaker: a kingdom or a populace of some sorts. there was There was shapes to these like buildings, like civilization once existed in this muralized door.
Speaker: But now those engravings are spoiled.
Speaker: What's it made of, wood or metal or stone? Bronze, entirely bronze. Thank you.
Speaker: Do you catch up with the rest of the party? I do go and catch up to find them all falling into a spike trap. and Did you find anything out? So before you really get a chance, because you're about 12 seconds or so behind Emron, Alphurs, you're sprinting at full pace. How how but how is it you're entering this, this, this temple?
Speaker: ah I wouldn't say sprinting. I've gone in through the door. um said running past me, I believe. I said going past you. Going past. Sprinting. they're Inside the door, it sort of siphons funnels, if you will, into a five-foot staircase that descends even further down.
Speaker: And as you sort of move into that staircase,
Speaker: the tunnel doesn't last particularly long. It's maybe 30 steps down. But torches are lit.
Speaker: you're able to sort of drop the sand-wind control ability and sort of regain more of your senses and more of your faculties.
Speaker: You step in and you're you're greeted with, I'm looking at your passive perception here, you're greeted with this wave of...
Speaker: like The taste of metal in the air is quite prominent. I'm assuming you have the ability for taste. Otherwise, i really am going to struggle with perception checks for you for certain elements. But I'm as i'm assuming that your metal detector at least can go off here.
Speaker: um But there is a metallic quality to the air.
Speaker: It's also incredibly dry in here.
Speaker: but there are lights on. And as you sort of move past and you head into the chamber at the base of these stairs,
Speaker: and one by one, I'm assuming the party are keeping up with Alpha's pace behind, and and Emron, you'll just be a couple of beats behind that. But you enter into this hall, this beautifully,
Speaker: curated once whole, you imagine. There are towering statues of serpent-headed warriors that line the eastern wall of this room.
Speaker: But they appear to be, desecrated isn't really the word, but spoilt. This time not by erosion, but they're covered in blood.
Speaker: Some blood,
Speaker: like dried and purple, aged. A few who's, a few who's, a few who's, however,
Speaker: of oxygenized redder blood layering on top.
Speaker: The room itself, along the floor, has a series of different cloth, linen, scraps.
Speaker: But the biggest thing that draws your attention is bones.
Speaker: More and more of these corpses are just littered here.
Speaker: and what parts of the floor you can see. They're in this really sort of beautiful, but again, ruined mosaic-like tiles.
Speaker: And then I need to make a dexterity saving throw. There it is. Because I definitely said started with a sense of urgency going into this room.
Speaker: Oh, it starts with an eye Six.
Speaker: As you head into this chamber and you sort of you slow down at the base of the stairs and sort of take it in, you're immediately hit by Seth, who's immediately hit by Barl, who's immediately hit by Nix. And comically, you're sort of just ushered into this room a little bit.
Speaker: and not sure what happens, Alpha, but the next thing you experience is this rushing sensation of you towards the ceiling and a row of spikes sitting on the ceiling above you as you sustain
Speaker: 11 points of piercing damage as the floor clicks and propels you up to the roof when you are impaled in the arm by one of the spikes in the ceiling before very slowly like stone, like something out of Tomb Raider, it falls back to the floor and you with it, sustaining three points of bludgeoning damage. ah Would he fall quite quickly?
Speaker: Yeah, he'd fall. Oh, I'd cast Feather It's about 20 foot. You'll cast Feather Fall. Okay. if i if so Sorry, i the way that I heard this described was that the floor ran up and then the floor came down like an elevator and carrying it. If there's any point that he looks like he's going to drop from the ceiling. Yeah, so he would have looked for a couple of seconds. like Imagine a as skewer with little bit of meat just slowly slipping off it. He would have looked like until the point where it fell off the skewer.
Speaker: and he hurtled down. So at that point you could intercept the blood. Yeah. So Nix would just like ah whip a hand from behind and and ah je ah gesture upwards and cast Feather Fall. So there'd be this purple flash of um energy towards you.
Speaker: Okay. And Alpha, you able to sort of, I'm assuming what I'm to is I'm going to have you roll back off that single tile to the same tiled area the rest of the party is standing on. But that hurt.
Speaker: Yes, it did. Yeah. and Okay. Perhaps not um such a big rush, Alpha. Nyx, thank you. And then its just Emron comes running down the stairs.
Speaker: I didn't go running. ah and one Oh, shit. Emron would have looked at the door. He's then gone in, seen the steps down. He's taken off his sandals. You would have heard the a big motion of stone moving as well, Emron, for and then while you were setting the door.
Speaker: And I guess I can look down the stairs, right? You don't quite have the sight lines, so you have to sort of descend about 30 steps and then the chamber opens out, so you can't from the top of it really see. Proceed with caution, because he's not, you know, tumbling down there, you know.
Speaker: um So I sort of probably come to the back of them without, you know, shield barging them all into the spike pit of death. um Oh, well, this looks fun.
Speaker: Fun is not the word that I would use. Alpha, let me have a look.
Speaker: As you actually do go to approach him, um the entirety of Alpha's body starts to glow, and even he's not too sure what's going off with this stage. um But he's just kind of holding his hands out, and like where the spike has penetrated his arm, it almost seems like a natural kind of healing that happens.
Speaker: but it is in his own kind of metallic wooden exterior for it. um Just to take moment, I'm casting Arcane Vigor okay um as a second level sorcerer spell slot, which lets me spend two hit die and recover them.
Speaker: So you see Bar as he kind of comes over and takes your arm and you see his mouth start to heat up. But then the moment you see he sees that that you're kind of self-mending, he'll go, that's new.
Speaker: Yes, I'm not sure what's going off. Right. better, though. ah Good. Much better. Saves me a bit of energy.
Speaker: ah Do watch your step. Yes, good advice. For the sake of everything, i got 10 healing on that. Nice. Awesome.
Speaker: Okay. So, players, you're looking at a digital map via D&D Beyond's map feature.
Speaker: You stand in this room, this room I've just described to you. It is a tiled room.
Speaker: To the far south of you, there is a door, and there is a door to the Southwest also. This room essentially tiled is a
Speaker: seven by six tiled grid. The tile that you stepped on just then, Alpha, which is a about five foot tile in itself, was trapped and propelled you to this ceiling of spikes.
Speaker: How do you want to navigate this room?
Speaker: For your convenience, I've just marked on the map an X for the one that trapped you. Yes. i Nifrva? You fancy just ah walking up and down this room for us?
Speaker: Time is inconsequential to me. And he's going to take a step in front of Seth, who I believe is to the kind of to the right of the room, um and stand on the first square, and then put some of his spindly arms on some of his spindly hips, and look intimidating to no one.
Speaker: So, as he stands, as Nithrava, Nithrava, Nivratha, Niv... Oh, I never struggle. Nithrava stands on this. You watch as his he is propelled to the ceiling and squished.
Speaker: But this time, when the tile returns, you see for a second Mithra'far impaled on the spike and then he disappears. Oh no, what a shame.
Speaker: And then Seth, you feel weaker. As this creature just appears on your shoulder, cross-legged like a Cupid statue, hand under chin looking lovingly in your eyes, Seth. Please remove a spell slot, a level one spell slot, please, Seth. Oh, shit. on him Yeah, every time he dies, every time he dies. That's a...
Speaker: ah us There's a lot to be played with there. We learned this when we were at the camp and we all kept killing it. I didn't know that killed a spell. Did you not pick up on the fact that he was told that Mark was told to mark off spell slots?
Speaker: It was three. I lost three first level spell slots. After we ive tried to keep nuking The great thing is I can't use any my spell slots. so it's you know It's just like a free free currency at the moment. Can I use my hammer to like tap on the square in front of me, Danny?
Speaker: Go for it. I use my hammer to tap on the hat square in front of me. Nothing happens.
Speaker: Go on. I dare you, Emron. Step forward. Yeah, buddy! go home, go hard. Hump, hump! Splat, splat! Emron, you step forward onto this tile and nothing happens.
Speaker: Okay. Is there any... before we play this Harry Potter chess game, ah is there any writings on the wall anywhere or any markings as such within these tiles?
Speaker: Make an investigation check from this position.
Speaker: Let's go. will tap you on the bum and say, guidance, but then nothing will happen because don't have a spell. LAUGHTER You got me. You got me. ah Right. So it was an eight, but I'm exhausted by one level, which does affect when you make a D by two times a Oh, God. Jesus. Minus two.
Speaker: Six.
Speaker: The floor is scattered in bones and detritus and carcasses. Carcass? Carcass? Plural carcass, anyone? Carcasses? the walls on I like carcass.
Speaker: The walls on the eastern edge have these statues that go from floor to ceiling of these serpent-like creatures.
Speaker: Adorned with layers of both old and fresh blood. With a six. It's hard me to tell from this position. Yeah.
Speaker: Nick, you said something about bones on the floor. Are there more bones on tiles than others? Yes.
Speaker: Can one discern a path of least amount of bones? on each tile.
Speaker: Not with a six.
Speaker: but just and that's exactly I took that as far as I could. um thinking you I was thinking the same. like You think there's something there's something in that the bones might be might be a clue? Next we'll look at Emron and start... Bones!
Speaker: bodies. ah so kind of Can I look ahead and sort of work out which tiles have more bones than others? I'd like to assist him. so Which have bones? that Yeah. Emron, you are in the second ah layer of this. You managed to to successfully take one pace forward and not been propelled and then impaled.
Speaker: You now have three options. To take the rightmost square, the square in front of you, or the square to the left of you. The square to the right of you has three skulls.
Speaker: The square in front of you has two and the square to the left of you has one skull.
Speaker: Can I not move diagonally? um' so I'm talking diagonally. Oh, sorry. I thought you meant literally left and right. I'm assuming you want to progress. Apologies. You know that your immediate left and right, your true left and right, have been failures.
Speaker: So there was three skulls in front of me. Three skulls on the one... In front? to you I'll do this by map. The one to southwest had three. The one to your immediate south had two.
Speaker: The one to your ah south... East. East, thank you, had one. It's like playing fucking Minesweeper, this. was going to say, you used to just mash keys as a kid. Yeah, fuck it, I hate that game.
Speaker: And then em everyone looks around and goes, can't some of you lot fly? Yeah, but that's like heavy on the old resources. Okay, I was just saying, um as I look over, it' there's not like a mechanism on the far wall or anything that might, I can see like a lever or something that might deactivate this trap. Make a perception check.
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Ah, the dead do not always stay where you leave them. A pity, really. That's 19. There is no lever on the firewall. This room is well lit.
Speaker: ah torches The torches have been changed recently or they've been fresh and refreshed recently. Oh.
Speaker: Do any of the stones look like they've been trodden on recently? Allow the same perception check. Assist. Assist. It's perceivable that on any of these tiles could you put ah could you stand. It's not so dense in bones in every one of these tiles that it looks like someone's moved them to stand. like There are gaps in all of the bones that are available.
Speaker: So you couldn't, on inspection of the bones alone, try and identify someone's path. You'd need to use other means if you were trying to figure out if someone stepped on certain things recently. Okay.
Speaker: Can I assist with it all?
Speaker: If a check's being made.
Speaker: Can I hit with my hammer to the one that's got only one skull on it? Yes. Southeast. I need you to make a dexterity saving throw, please. ah No, this would be a strength saving throw.
Speaker: Strength saving throw. Okay.
Speaker: That's an 18.
Speaker: You tap the one to your southeast. The one with a single skull on it. it propels to the ceiling.
Speaker: And as it goes up in such a speed, it sort knocks the end of your hammer and you have to really hold onto it to keep a grasp. But you do.
Speaker: It comes back down a few seconds later. Okay. And Emma will look over his shoulder. Have any of you lot got anything you can check the ones in front of you? Cause it looks like there's no way going forward here.
Speaker: Uh, yeah i can like I could try. I could give something a try. um And Nyx is going to just ah bring up his hand to his face where he's got old Gell's Ring of Foresight on there.
Speaker: annie's um And in the other hand, he's going to pull out the crystal orb. No longer cracked. Thank you, Emron. And as he... holds the orb in his left hand with his right hand where he's got the ring of foresight in. He'll just kind of ah wave his hand over the orb.
Speaker: And as he does so, the ring starts to glow. um What's a good colour for Old Gale? when he casts spells, does he have any sort of talent? Like, obviously, Nyx has got purple. is there anything?
Speaker: ah It's mainly white. White is the kind of the... the Wonderful. So as he moves his hand over, ah there'll be this white kind of colour marking coming from the ring as Nyx casts Augury to see if there's any sort of... I don't know.
Speaker: In my mind, imagine a grid, just a grey, and there's a like a yellow line. Like a yellow brick road that appears. Not to put words in your mouth, but that would cool. Just saying. and But anyway, that's what doing.
Speaker: Don't you have to ask a question through the spell? Don't you have to be like, if I take this course of action, yeah is it good outcome, bad outcome? ah you know Well, you have to, yeah, a specific course of action that you plan to take within the next 30 minutes.
Speaker: yeah So, Nyx will be asking. It takes a minute to cast as well. Can you highlight me a safe route through this?
Speaker: area.
Speaker: Nix is doing that with a cheeky smile towards the orb as well. like
Speaker: Will I get anything for this? and i yeah to see Let's see. How will this play?
Speaker: You see for a second. Yeah. Okay. Alpha, look behind you. Will, look behind you. Will, look behind you. What? Are we doing this right now?
Speaker: I can't see that, man. That was one.
Speaker: Okay. Might be flipped as well. I think I caught stuff. Can we look? Yep, you can look.
Speaker: As the solution to this puzzle, Nick's Corral, appears in your mind perfectly. for all of three seconds.
Speaker: How do you want to proceed? Okay. Okay. ah um I might have something here. Nix is going to take one long step forwards in front of him.
Speaker: You move yourself on the map. You move...
Speaker: You step on the first tile directly to yourself. Nothing happens. Okay, this is where it gets a little bit complicated, guys. Don't die.
Speaker: Fuck it. Nyx is going to take... He's going to put the crystal orb back in his pocket and just kind of flex out the hand where the the ring is. Okay.
Speaker: Then he's going to bring out his bottomless mug and take a big swig and then take one more step forwards.
Speaker: Nothing happens. Okay, okay. Do you want you to follow him we'll all lead round? Maybe. Well, I was just going to ask, how far away is the door that we're trying to get to?
Speaker: oh well the Give or take seven spaces directly in front. Hang on a minute. it It's not as many feet as we used to do this. Hang on. Well... It's about 26, 30 feet. can technically move us all 15 foot closer, but we would be landing on random squares.
Speaker: Can we look ahead about 15 feet to see which squares have... I would not advise taking the risk. The spikes hurt a lot. I just going to step to my left?
Speaker: And Nyx is going to step one step to the left. Slide the left.
Speaker: Do you step to the left, Nyx Corral? i need you to make a dexterity save. Ah, shit! That's a toe. 13.
Speaker: and said ten thirteen You are propelled up into the ceiling and you are impaled. Fuck it.
Speaker: For six points of piercing damage. And as the block pulls back... I'm going to cast Feather Fall on myself. Okay.
Speaker: Is that concentration? Will it break the Feather Fall on... Alpha. ah No. And is Featherfall a Sorcerer or a Warlock? Sorcerer spell. Okay. A Sorcerer spell?
Speaker: Yeah. Good roll, a d20.
Speaker: You're getting the power of flight. Hey, this is easy now.
Speaker: ah That is a 10. Or if I have to minus two from that one for exhaustion, it's an eight. so It's okay either way. So you prevent yourself from falling damage. I do, yeah. ah And then you you will roll back onto the safe zone, okay?
Speaker: So if you' if you'd stayed there, you'd go up again.
Speaker: So where I put myself on the map, yeah? Yep. Okay, well then, that obviously means I got that wrong and it's forwards. Nyx is going to take one step forward.
Speaker: Oh, I was going to... Barl, are there any skulls on the one in front of you? Are there any skulls on the one in front of me? There are four skulls on the one in front of you, Barl.
Speaker: you want to step on that one? Yes, there are four. What's that mean? I wouldn't stand there then. Nyx, you will notice that you passed... a tile with one skull, then a tile with two skulls.
Speaker: And you're currently standing on a tile with three skulls and you have not ascended. oh
Speaker: Guys, I've got it. Follow me. And nick what do you mean you've got it? You literally just got impaled. It was your method. it's Well, hang on.
Speaker: And Nix will look at the floor in front of him because what I've put down is now non-invoid after that. Fuck up. that's The tile directly to the right of me is where I want to go. How many skulls are on that?
Speaker: Four. I'm going to go for that.
Speaker: Ah.
Speaker: I was like that. No, no, no. Yeah, no, no, no. Sorry. The right forwards. I'm going forwards. Forwards, right. riper Return back to the original tile.
Speaker: Fuck it. Do this by map compass. It's easier to remember. So I'm putting, I'm putting, there we go. That's the one with the, that had the force goal. Yeah, that's where you're safe there.
Speaker: Give me east, southeast, south. Southwest or west? where are you heading next? I guess, but yeah, so I went directly to the right and I'm safe there.
Speaker: Where my little counter is. Hang on. Who just drew the X? east, didn't you? Who just drew the X? That was me. Sorry. Remove the X, please. Sorry, I was trying to mark where he was before. Remove the X, please.
Speaker: Sorry. Right. Where my when Nix is? Nix, from where you're currently standing... Where would you like to head? Give me a compass direction. ah
Speaker: So I'm currently stood on four skulls. You're currently stood on three skulls. Right. Okay. Okay. And.
Speaker: Southwest is four skulls. Correct? Incorrect. Which one? I'm looking for four skulls. I thought I had it.
Speaker: Due east.
Speaker: you said You said to the right of you. Right, now okay. That's where the confusion was. So, to the east of you is four skulls.
Speaker: The ping. Yes.
Speaker: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, so I'm going over the four skulls. You stand on a tile and nothing happens. Right. And i'm if I marked this right and correctly, directly below me, south, should be five skulls.
Speaker: That is correct. ah Guys!
Speaker: Right. Nick, you look excited. Explain it to us all. that It's the skulls. it's they Count the amount of skulls on each ah each tile. And what does that mean? It means that we go from one, two, three, four, five. I'm currently on five skulls, so I'm going to look for the six skulls, which also, girl, little tap helped me out, like some awesome epic GPS.
Speaker: I'm willing to bet that ah directly south of me is six skulls. Incorrect. Directly. Sorry.
Speaker: Directly south of you is four skulls. Directly south of me is four skulls. So directly southwest of me is... No skulls.
Speaker: and You're hesitating, Nick. You seemed really confident to now you're hesitating. West of me?
Speaker: Two skulls.
Speaker: I lost it! But at least until I, like where I am right now is safe. Can I step on the three skull square in front of me? Oh, to the south west of me, Danny.
Speaker: You want step on the three skull square to the southwest of you? Yeah.
Speaker: I need to make a dexterity saving throw.
Speaker: I thought it was like, okay. I think you're only on like level one at that stage, Emron. So i probably straightforward, I think. eighteen needs ago 18. You are able to deftly, like a cat, leap back to your safe square.
Speaker: And you watch as the stone pillar ascends towards the ceiling. Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker: I'm going to move... got What are your thoughts, Nyx? I'm going south. I'm going south. ah guy so Okay. okay Bam. This one had four skulls on it.
Speaker: Nothing happens. And I marked that on my fucking thing as well. but i believe Believe it or not, I haven't done a bad job. Okay, I'm going to move to the two then on mine. You're going stand on the two?
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: And you should make a dexterity saving throw. oh Oh, by the way, old girl, tell me there's only one safe road. Be good to it. It's good to communicate, Nix.
Speaker: I thought you'd just let me try an error. is That's a 12.
Speaker: You ascend to the ceiling. Hang on, hang on. Can you know the outcome of the roll? It's a saving throw rather than an check. It is. you are son you ah can't technical mind You ascend towards the ceiling and get impaled.
Speaker: you receive nine points of piercing damage. I can take it And there is a second where you're about to fall to the ground. but You can take it or you want this? Save the spell slots, I can take it.
Speaker: ah Okay. Emron looks at Nyx in slow motion and wags his finger. As the stone pillar returns to the floor and there is just a slow skewer drop of Emron, you receive two points of bludgeoning returning to the ground.
Speaker: Thank you for let me save the spell slot. No, there's only one route, I think. I think. Everyone's dusting stuff off. That's it. Yeah. Communication skills. It's a bit of trial and error here.
Speaker: Yep. So ah here I'm... ah Seth, you need to go that way and Seth's going to direct... Everyone's going direct Seth to follow Alpha and Baal.
Speaker: Yeah, Seth would have just been like watching this all take place after Nith getting absolutely pummeled earlier. I'm going to be watching with a slightly concerned look on his face, ah everything that's just been happening. then We'll just nod to what Emron says and then follow where his finger points towards ah towards the route.
Speaker: Baal's been just following every step behind Nix, just keeping an eye on him, waiting for him to get badly fucked up by impolation, if that's even a word.
Speaker: Baal. Yes. You said that you could jump us all 15 feet. I can. That door over there looks like it's about 20 feet from me, so I'm going to struggle.
Speaker: One more foot. Okay. So just one more foot. But I'm starting to lose focus on what old girl told me. i ah want to say I'm going west.
Speaker: But I'm unsure. If old girl tells you west. Let's go west. Okay! And Nyx is going to go directly west.
Speaker: yeah Nothing happens. oh Bar will kind of tentatively watch you step there. like ah Like, there's a small twitch as you step onto the this the that the like the paving slab thing. And then he'll kind of nod as if, yeah yeah, I knew that would happen. Go west.
Speaker: Are we trying to get through the door to the south? There seems to be one west as well. Yes, yes, definitely south. We're going south. We're heading south? Preferably at nearest door. Okay. Okay. how about alpha if you just take my place in just a second in fact it might be worthwhile oh everyone's moving up aren't they can you just take a step back i don't want you to get burnt not not directly back though No, no, no, no, no. If anyone takes a step back on their previous slots, and what Baal will do is he'll call his wildfire spirit in so that his wildfire spirit is flying um five foot above Nick's.
Speaker: And then if people follow his instruction and move back so that they're outside of a five foot radius, um of where the wildfire spirit is. So basically it'll just be Nyx and Baal within that five ah five foot radius.
Speaker: He will kind of look up to it, wink, give a nod and use the fiery teleportation of his wildfire spirit to teleport both Nyx and Baal to 15 feet to the door to the south.
Speaker: um The wording I believe is is that we take a space within the the kind of the 15 feet that we get teleported to. um Yeah, unoccupied space is basically from from that point. So i'm I'm pretty sure from there I can teleport us to that doorway in one space next to it.
Speaker: Go for it. Yeah, and that's I'll do. I'm also starting to think that might have fucked up and might be going to the other door. as Like just as the moor of the wildfire spirit envelops us both and you hear this as there's a small explosion and we're teleported to the south.
Speaker: So who is going to occupy which square? Who is going to be in the square adjacent to the door? Who's going to be one back?
Speaker: um
Speaker: This is technically the wildfire spirit. The wildfire spirit would prioritize Barlow and Nyx. yeah So he would be one back. So Nyx. Yep. When you stand on your tile, there is jolt down as it drops half a foot.
Speaker: And you hear this
Speaker: clicking and sliding of things underfoot. And both the door to the south, the bar is now pushed up against, and the door to the southwest swing open.
Speaker: And all of the lights in this room go much dimmer.
Speaker: Did that clicking extend under us? Yes, you all felt this sort of echo throughout the chamber. Maybe that's stopped all the traps? but I don't know, but I almost shit myself, guys, not going to lie. I think I i think i might have shat myself. Do you want one of us to test this out or what?
Speaker: Who's injured already? I am. I'll test then. You might as well. Everyone will shuffle around everyone and I'll stand on the one that I know was... thingy and go to just to the east of alpha because i know that's one that um nick's triggered nothing happens okay we're good hu um good job team good job team we'll work together on that one he'll look at nick's bru bleeding profusely my b my b my b my b my b
Speaker: Will you be heading? Hold on. Barl's going to give Nix a lick. Which obviously means a cure wounds. So I'm going to drastically overheal you by... That's 19.
Speaker: te Hold on, we're not quite there. There we are. 24 points of healing. yeah i don't i was I was injured before coming into this temple, so thank you.
Speaker: Oh, wow. Yeah. I was carrying damage. I did not know that. God. was because of all the shit that happened at the ship. Yes. You got fucked by that. I got fucked by the ship. So as Baal kind of licks the wound as well, the the the burning, it's a searing pain, but it feels good after a while.
Speaker: I'm fire resistant, baby. I'm used to this. Well, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And sometimes Baal uses this when he doesn't need to as well. So, yeah, you're very much used to this. um But your wounds are cured. Yeah.
Speaker: ah Thank you. Okay, someone want to take point? I've done my bit. There are two options. Would you like to head south or would you like to head southwest?
Speaker: Are the doors open? Doors are wide open. Do want to make any sort of check beforehand? Everyone's going to shuffle over to the one to the well, because Barl's at the one to the south, and just have a look what's ahead of them.
Speaker: and then he's going to And when he looks, he's going look, and then going look towards Barl just to see what Barl sees as well. Mm-hmm.
Speaker: Okay, so you see a small corridor. 15 feet ahead of you is a shut bronze door. And then just ahead of you in the corridor, there's a left turn into another bronze door.
Speaker: You can, however, hear shouting coming from behind the door, 15 feet ahead of you, from a single voice, but it's quite muffled with the door shut.
Speaker: particular language or could you comment up comment okay
Speaker: i'll jump to let i'll let bal do his whilst he's doing that i'll do the exact same thing but to my door okay You see a much longer corridor. And at the end of it... Sorry.
Speaker: At the end of it, a sealed... Well, a shut bronze door. A sealed door. maybe about 40 feet in length, this one. Okay.
Speaker: But other than that, just that that's all? Just one single chamber. imagine we turn back to each other. Oh, sorry. as you As you open the door and you look down... chamber, as you look down it...
Speaker: That taste of metal in the air is stronger.
Speaker: And the smell of blood too.
Speaker: I imagine we talk at the same time as we turn back and look at each other. I've got shouting down here. Blood and metal. ah Shouting. Right.
Speaker: I prefer shouting to blood and metal. We can always come back. lets Let's go and see what's going on. Everyone's going to Stream. didn't Roll forwards. Okay, so the door itself is shut.
Speaker: Seth? He's going to sheathe his short swords to then unsheathe them again in a sudden the noise. shi Pull them again. And um the door that Emron isn't up now is going to barge past Alpha. It's been waiting too long. Something needs to happen. I to kill something. The door that's to the south is going to kick it.
Speaker: I'm going to kick it. I'm going to kick it. I'd laugh it was a pull door so nothing happens. I'll kick it harder. So kick the shit out of that bitch. You kick on that thing.
Speaker: He says that every time he kicks it. Are we but we're still Hawk touring here? No one will know that reference by the time.
Speaker: I will. We're bringing it back. you You boot the door open. but And as you do, it swings. You can make a strength, take straight up athletics check for me.
Speaker: Straight up athletics all over your face. You ready for this? I am so... Alright, I'll take that. 24. You break this thing off the hinges.
Speaker: Boom! Boom is right. And as you kick this door in, it reveals a another sort of 40-foot corridor heading south.
Speaker: But what's interesting is the slam now of this bronze door against this stonework just sends this huge echo throughout the temple. The corridor spans about 40 feet, and then there's a T-section at the end of that rather than the door.
Speaker: And Nithra is just going to say to Seth, everything dies, Seth. You can either be the one that writes the story or the one that becomes a footnote. And then Seth's going to nod at that and start walking down the corridor. I'm going through my door.
Speaker: Emron pressed against the door. You're clearly hearing someone shout help, help, help in common, but it's very muffled. I'm trying to open the door. The door is not locked. As you open the door, Emron, it reveals much bigger chamber.
Speaker: I like on D&D, you kind of have to like paint the foggy ball away. And it's you did the edges first. i oh Oh, monster in the middle. Yeah. Bosh. And TPK.
Speaker: Emron, do your room first because, Seth, you're not going into a room necessarily. But the air in this chamber, Emron, is heavy with the scent of dried herbs. And there is sort of musty parchment scattered around. There is still these carcasses of UNT scattered around that are...
Speaker: No one's really checked into the age of these things, but that they are they have lost flesh. They've been there a while. In this room, however, there are stacks of crates and barrels and burlap sacks that have sort of been hastily, haphazardly thrown into the room.
Speaker: Their contents sort of spills out to reveal preserved food. There's a relatively freshly baked loaf of bread. It's stale, but the mould isn't that old.
Speaker: there appear to be some stolen sort treasures or found treasures, as well as mundane supplies like ink and parchment and and rope and and building materials.
Speaker: In the center of this room, however, there is this ornate stone altar, which is partially covered by a wooden table that's that's filled out with more of these workman's tools.
Speaker: On the walls around you are are faded murals, but more clear than what you've seen so far and not scattered in blood. And it appears to be and the scene of a tribe of Yuan-Ti worshipping both sun and moon, one wall dedicated to the sun, one moon dedicated, sorry, one wall dedicated to the moon.
Speaker: Alpha, with your perfect memory and and your your knowledge of of religion, Emron, this looks like some tribal take on the the moon and sun goddesses that are popular in Shadow Mend.
Speaker: Yeah. And other parts of Eastern Earth, not specifically just Shadow Mend. Okay. and And which direction is the cries of the help of help coming from? Coming from the door in the northeast corner of this room. Okay.
Speaker: Everyone's looking over his shoulder. Someone's calling for help. And I'm going to ignore the treasure and proceed over towards that door. Just how much treasure we talking about?
Speaker: You could make an investigation check here. No, no, no, no, no. Alpha's going to loot the room while Emron goes off to help someone. I like to think that Nick's hand stretches out and Barl just lands in. Do you want me to square by square? Danny or Zama? Can I go straight to the door? Well, I'm going to go to Alpha. You headed straight for the door. As you described, Alpha's going straight to loot stuff. I was just checking if we go square by square because of any interactions, but that's fine.
Speaker: I'll tell you what happens, but you're telling me you're heading straight for the door. So yeah we'll go with that. You head straight to the door and this door is locked the moment you press your hand on it. While you're thinking about how you wish to proceed and um Alpha, you're going about looting the room. I can tell you Alpha in this time, but you will be distracted Alpha for about five minutes.
Speaker: Okay. Whilst doing this, but there are an assortment of valuable treasures here, Alpha. that you're able to sort of rip out certain sacks and find find what look like um hastily moved goods.
Speaker: As well as all the mundane and trade items you see here, there's about 200 gold pieces in various different pouches and containers.
Speaker: There are three ruby gemstones worth 50 gold pieces each.
Speaker: There is a ivory-handled silver dagger that's more decorative than functional but would strike a high value, you think? It's McBendley's treasure hoard. This is what this is
Speaker: this is. That's about the total of the valuable items you find. Okay, cool. Fair enough. um Yeah, i i I'll shout back there was a few valuable bits and pieces in here. while that' time to look That's not your voice.
Speaker: But also we don't show who you're shouting back to, because while you're spending a few minutes doing that, while Emron is looking at the door, Seth, you have beelined down this corridor. Bal nicks. Who are you following?
Speaker: Party spit. It's because we're at the back, aren't we? Like we start charging through. making out. Pump, pump. I'll just quickly on that. Uh, i just quickly go and ah It's a room full of springs, so you might as well. It's just like your bedroom.
Speaker: Talk draconic to me. Talk draconic to me. Vah will kind of stop at the intersection and look to the left and see that that Seth has just gone charging down one direction. Look in front of him and see Alpha diving headfirst into treasure.
Speaker: And Emron's gone that way as well. Look behind him and see Nyx unbuttoning his trousers. ah and And quickly turn to Nyx and say, ah sound shouting from this way, Seth's going that way for some reason. Thoughts?
Speaker: ah I think Emron said that he's hearing someone shout for help. ah Considering we're meant to be saving some McBetter person, probably that's what we should be doing. Bal grabs the back of your head, kisses you flat on the mouth, turns around and sprints after Emron.
Speaker: Yeah, boy. Sprints after Emron. Like you think that as Nick's exhales, there's that smoke come out of his mouth. Nice. Like a cigarette afterwards. Yeah.
Speaker: And Nick's will follow. You guys move yourself on the map. Seth, we're going to go to the map on! As I run past the corridor.
Speaker: Even I didn't get a word of that. I can no fucking tell you. Okay. Okay.
Speaker: okay Seth, everyone has left you to your own devices. You get to the end of your T section, 40 feet to the south where everyone else is clustered. To the right of you is a door, a denser door than you have encountered thus far and in in these you're in these tunnels.
Speaker: To the left of you, the tunnel continues towards the southwest. You are alone now. Nithraar turns to Seth again and now more quietly in his ear says, Power and hesitation are like oil and water.
Speaker: Choose which one you'd rather drown in. And Seth's going to nod and turn to the door and again try and kick it. Okay. Make athletics check.
Speaker: I will as soon as I can find... a Aha! There it is. Thank you. um It is going to be a... I'm going to use my heroic inspiration there and get to re-roll that 10, if that's okay.
Speaker: And re-roll that bad boy for a natural 20 for 27. Oh!
Speaker: that Is that successful? ah So the door is locked. Yeah. But on a natural 20. Yeah. And no one's here to see it. No one's here to see it.
Speaker: You just aim your boot this time for the the hinge, which you felt might have been the weak point given your success on the last door. And you're able to just break this hinge with some otherworldly power that you found.
Speaker: And the door sort of breaks into and so flies into the room. And of room it is indeed. Ah, fuck. Now he's going to think nick ah that Nithravar has something to do with it. He's going to buy it. power That power line.
Speaker: Oh, boy. you are You've got your own spider king right there, my guy. Shit, man. That was a wonderful line. There is something quite sexual about Danny kind of unshaving these areas of map, isn't there? Look away. It's like teasing. Very, very satisfying. is teasing. It's like so downloading a naughty image in the early 2000s. What, in 1996? Dial-up times, baby. need to use the phone. Fuck off.
Speaker: Got my dick in my hands. I can wait. Get off the phone, Mom. Get off the phone. We've got the ability to keep it hard because of bit wire. That's why.
Speaker: ah Meanwhile, Callum had his pie. the You apple loving motherfucker. So made, bitches. You boot into this room, Seth.
Speaker: As you take a step in and look around, this room
Speaker: isn't. Littered with skulls and blood and detritus.
Speaker: This room
Speaker: is full of weaponry, of armor, of purple cloaks. Oh.
Speaker: As clearly this has been occupied recently by the criss-crack. This looks like this was once an offering room or or a war room when the UNT held it.
Speaker: But now it's been replaced by Crisca heraldry. There is parchment. There is a table with a map of Dralak on it.
Speaker: And there is one scroll
Speaker: with a wax seal on the floor by this table that has yet to be opened.
Speaker: Seth's going to see that and knee jerk, kind of still fucking ego high, you know, dick hard off the back of that door, that door fucking kick. And he's going to run up, ah see the maps.
Speaker: He's, he's had his Intel training. He knows to take shit. He folds the map up, shoves it in his satchel, looks down at the sealed envelope, picks up very, very delicately. puts it on the table and and inspects the insignia. um Is there any marking, any he heraldry or anything on the on the wax seal? Or is it just a wax seal?
Speaker: It is from the office of Delmont Trace. He's going to punch the seal really fucking hard to break it and then open the letter up. You punch the paper so hard it disintegrates. It's just like fucking Arnie is running in here. I got one eye and I can't speak.
Speaker: So it's it's a small scroll, one that a messenger bird would carry. It's about the size of of a matchstick in length. Oh, so punching was totally too much, wasn't it? Yeah, but but it if it's flat on the table, eyes you could punch the seal. I made a point, I made a point. Yeah, he still pumps. Yeah, and about the size of ah of a large coin is the the wax seal on it.
Speaker: And you open it out. And you've seen, you've collected um messages like this before when you've handed them to Captain Yore.
Speaker: You never opened them before. You've never seen the penmanship, the cursive, the handwriting of Delmont Trace.
Speaker: And you see five words.
Speaker: 60 moons until the alignment.
Speaker: And you see on the reverse,
Speaker: it was dated two days ago. i was about to ask, did it have like a date modified? be talking Google Docs. like what do we That's good to know. Two days ago. Okay.
Speaker: and Okay. Okay. okay And as you... Look around this room, Seth.
Speaker: In your hand, you're remembering when you used to intercept, not and not just intercept, but receive and perform your duty as as an upquiskra, though really you were undercover.
Speaker: Surrounded by this armory. You're surrounded by how this room is kept.
Speaker: You're surrounded by how certain particular weaponry is is maintained. The choice of blunt heavy objects rather than bladed.
Speaker: You see a bag that looks a bit familiar.
Speaker: can it Can he... every so Everything about this temporary barracks looks like someone one else has told you before to arrange a room like this.
Speaker: And then it comes to you.
Speaker: Everything about how this room laid out is how Captain Yor would have you and others lay out
Speaker: similar locations from your past.
Speaker: So just sorry just to clarify, he's been he's done a couple of he's been under a couple of power trippy people. He's been in military situations quite a bit. Is this like... The way you'd lay out a bed and the way you'd have certain things, and are we talking certain penchants and nuances that Yor specifically would have or that a sergeant or captain would command? That come specifically a regiment controlled and led by Captain Yor...
Speaker: led by captain yore how they would act, so down to the fact that they take mauls and warhammers over blades and scimitars, the fact that they use heavier plate rather than lighter plate, and unmistakably the fact that eledo memorabilia, eledo religious worship items are all over world.
Speaker: personal bags. And just remembering that this this is the same Yor who turned into some fucking weird spider shit thing and then disappeared and we've never never seen them since.
Speaker: That's yeah the same Yor. The last captain that you were serving under while you were in deep cover in the upcriss-crack when you met the rest of the party.
Speaker: That captain Yor. ah Seth's going to instantly turn around and run away and run up the corridor and try and find everyone else.
Speaker: and And much to Nithravar's dislike, who continues to, ah why, why, as he ah follows behind. as you run back, Seth, you're in this room. You're still trying the door.
Speaker: ah Excuse me, Ebron. forgot your name for a second there. Everyone now congregates in this room. So you're lining up a shot.
Speaker: Please make yourself a... Roll to hit instead of making athletics check because there's an element of weaponry involved here. Okay.
Speaker: ah That's a nine.
Speaker: It's ineffective this time. Okay, I'm going to use my second wind. Okay. And add a d10 to it. You're going to fuck it.
Speaker: Does Alpha come up behind you and start waving his arm in it? Okay, so that now takes it. It's a slow one. I got it. I got it. I got it. was good That takes it to a 12. twelve Ineffective.
Speaker: Is it the same hit a second strike? It's the same hit. Well, basically, umm just I get to add on the same hit. Yeah. Ineffective, unfortunately. It'll take you a few seconds to get your breath back to try that again. ah get the get the second win back. It doesn't get spent.
Speaker: Nice. At this point, Seth, you return to the group, come bundling in.
Speaker: Anything you want to say or how do you wish to proceed? I'm going to thrust the letter ah from Delmontre into whoever is closest.
Speaker: i Would it Bal and Nix? ah Yeah, probably Nix because he was the last one to to go in, wasn't it? And he's just spinning around, thrust the letter into his chest and then start like holding his hands out to the side and like wiggling his fingers and trying to like move like a spider.
Speaker: Oh, what the fuck? but Not you too? He's going point back to the corridor and then wiggle his fingers and kind of move. It probably looks more like a crab than, he's not a good performer, more like him doing a crab walk than anything else, but his eyes are like wide with fear.
Speaker: And Nithrava is sitting cross-legged on the floor watching Seth i do this.
Speaker: But I've given you the letter that says 60 moons until the next, until 60 moons until the alignment. Yep. And then it's dated two days ago.
Speaker: ah And Nick's all... Everyone's banging something with a hammer, right? Yeah, the door, yeah. All right, cool. So while that's going on, like a smithing workshop back there, Nick's all unfurl the letter and read it and then look at Seth and then read it.
Speaker: And to what alignment? Seth's going to shake his head and shrug
Speaker: And that we're going to end this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop, Bellum Drickle. Bitch! Hate you and everything you stand for. God damn it! Fuck off. Just set that right up there.
Speaker: It's alright. Once we've rescued this person, we can go back into that room and loot the place for all the oppressed for gear. Loot that party! we've got a bag of holding we can put all the shit into and just sell it. No, but we do have a bag of holding of a website where you can find out loads of information about our characters and different parts of our campaign and other campaigns that we're running at the moment. It is at fellowshiptabletop.co.uk. What?
Speaker: At fellowshiptabletop.co.uk. Ah! People get it. They understand. I don't have to go www.anymore. Surely it's 2025. We're all good. It's in the link. It's in the like it's in the description. There you All in the description. I'm i'm using finger guns pointing down on a podcast. That audio media. Down that way. Down stairs. We're so cool.

There's loads of shit on there about Alpha as well. So if you're interested in learning more about Alpha, then it's all on the blog there. He's just done a shitload posts. It's great to see loads of his backstory from Shadow Men, really fleshing out the Shadow Men part. just have to scroll past the tome of Folly Fizzlebang that he did.
Speaker: last month. The world that he's fleshed out. Alpha only does one-worded blogs and you have to wait. I think he writes all code. ten weeks to get a sentence. and It's all in binary. And then annoyingly, it's it's past all the Nixon-Barl porn as well. You've just got to keep going through that.
Speaker: There's a lot of cycles AI. There's a lot of AI pictures of Nixon-Barl. Yeah. Wash your eyes afterwards. Yeah.
Speaker: And also, if you want to wash your eyes further, check out our X page, which is our fellowship table.
