Ep. 04 - Wildheart - Prologue 2: Of Surge and Storm

S3 E4 · The Fellowship of the Tabletop

Join us for a weirdly wonderful one-shot mix of morbid curiosities, a (4th) wall smashing barbarian, Draconic blubber, worryingly high DC's, more than a few astounding Derren Brown moments … and a foot mace - a mace…foot. Wait...what?

Set in The Drowned Vale, far to the east of Wildheart and miles from the infamous Tidal Surge, Brother Brian Blesstoes, Blake Bellwood, Borts Dongle and their aggravated cartographer Herrik look to loot a long lost spire that has - thank the stone and stars - appeared through the recently cleared marshlands. Isolde warned them of company and to take what they can before the waters return and they are lost to the Surge for eternity.

But something doesn't seem right - and that's not just Brian's interest in toes. The spire seems to call to them. Misshapen movement in the waters, corpses decimated, endless corridors of glass - will Borts' brains hold out or will he just attack a wall, again?

00:00:27
Speaker
Now... Let's dive in. What? He's dead. You words the slapped the little brains out of his head.
00:00:39
Speaker
It's gone.

Exploring the Drowned Vale

00:01:36
Speaker
The air is thick with the scent of brine and decay as you navigate through a marsh, the drowned veil. The moonlight reflects off still pools of water, giving the land an eerie glow.
00:01:51
Speaker
Strange sounds echo through the deadened air in the distance, the chirping of unseen insects, the occasional croak of a hidden predator, the soft, rhythmic lapping of the water as it pulls away, further away, further and further.
00:02:09
Speaker
You know that beyond the mist, the mist that clings in the distance, something ancient is about to be revealed. You three! and a fourth, have been tasked by the famous treasure hunter, Isilda, to traverse the drowned Vale and find the spire, in her words.
00:02:32
Speaker
Now, as far as you're aware, this thing doesn't exist, though she is adamant it is, and as would be treasure hunters yourselves, The op opportunity that this could give you to enter an ancient monolithic structure that hasn't seen daylight in possibly hundreds of years.
00:02:53
Speaker
The treasure inside could make your careers.

The Mission: Find the Spire

00:02:58
Speaker
As you crest ah a low rise, you see it. It does exist.
00:03:06
Speaker
There, in the middle distance, a monolithic spire of blackened stone sets apart from all other small stones that seem to ah kind of dot the area around it.
00:03:21
Speaker
Its surface is covered in these spiralling glyphs, almost like a whirlpool in reverse. Well, or the right way round if you're in Australia. The entrance, and you can see, and we're talking probably seven, eight, nine hundred feet away at this point. seems like a The entrance seems like a kind of a gaping wound in the rock, just a big kind of diagonal carving out of the side of the spire.
00:03:48
Speaker
yawns open at the base of the tower. Now, you've got quite a distance to get here, you three. And in the process of which we're going to have to do a bit of a skill challenge to get across this marsh, what you come across is
00:04:04
Speaker
ah a ground that should not really be available to you. The water has sunk down so low at this point that the ground is boggy, incredibly boggy and and, and, and soft to touch.
00:04:15
Speaker
There are long, ah skeletal almost pools of water that seem to stretch out over the area and small islands of dry-ish land that seems to spot the distance now.
00:04:29
Speaker
Getting there won't be easy and it's up to you to try and make it across. We're going to skill challenge and as we the skill challenge I'd like you just to introduce yourself well introduce the characters you're playing in a little bit about what you are um um as we as we start to navigate this process.

Character Introductions and Dynamics

00:04:44
Speaker
So to start off with Callum Who do we see as the camera pans to yourself?
00:04:52
Speaker
You see, for once, me playing this kind of character, a human. What? Just a very normal male human. His balls, his chest is bare. He has wraps around ah his stomach down to his waist and a set of baggy trousers, some very, very soft shoes, tattooed sleeves with elvish grip.
00:05:18
Speaker
down both arms, holding on his back a spear and almost like a bandolier of daggers just going around the waist as well. Very nice. Okay. So the first role I'd like you to make, please, for your character, Callum, is part of this skill challenge. We're going to go through this twice each. um What I'd like you to do is pick a skill you'd like to use to access this. The DC is 13 across the board for it. I'll give you that 13.
00:05:48
Speaker
I'd like you to pick a skill, pick what you do, and it has to, in some way or other, get you... either physically or mentally or preparedly, get you further across the marsh in some way. So for example, your obvious options are things like survival, perception, athletics, nature.
00:06:07
Speaker
But if you can if you can twist the dagger and make any others work, be my guest. I'm going to keep it nice and simple for the off. You said it's like um a boggy land with the occasional bit of dry patch as you're kind of making your way to it. I want to use my acrobatics and I'm just going to kind of try and bounce and spring between any kind of dry pots that I can kind of build up momentum as I'm doing so as well.
00:06:30
Speaker
Absolutely. I'm imagining kind of Legolas walking across the snow, the top of the snow where everyone else is kind of delving, digging through. Yeah. And give us a roll for that then. Yeah. Callum, what's the name of your character, by the way? Oh, my apologies. I am Blake Bellwood. Blake Bellwood. By the sounds of things, monk.
00:06:45
Speaker
yeah from A monk indeed. And lovely with an acrobatics role of 24, you would believe so as well. Very good. First one is a pass. Fantastic. Thank you very Callum. Um, behind you, um maybe not as as acrobatic as your as you are yourself uh we see will's character will do you want to give us a little bit about what we see here and also the name your name what we see and then we'll get to the skill afterwards Yes, certainly. I'll give you the name last. ah ah You would see a dragonborn.
00:07:16
Speaker
It is a black scaled dragonborn, but the most notable feature is that they are just severely overweight. They are almost as wide as they are tall, and they're about six and a half foot tall.
00:07:29
Speaker
So there's this just massive belly that is just tumbling out in front of them. They've got these dark kind of curled down horns in front of their face. Their bare chest is covered in moss. There's like moss dripping off the shoulders as well.
00:07:44
Speaker
um They have got this big old bum bag kind of dangling, ah probably mostly unseen underneath the the the belly folds, if you like, but they have incredibly muscular arms and and legs as well.
00:08:01
Speaker
um ah Their side, or not necessarily at their their their side, and but kind of what must be tucked into that that the bum bag, if you like, on one side is um simply a scimitar.
00:08:16
Speaker
ah It looks minute against the size of this Dragonborn. But on the other side, there is some sort of makeshift weapon that looks like it's been tied together. It looks like um like a bit of driftwood that's got loads of rope wrapping around it um with like ah a malleted side, which is effectively like a warhammer.
00:08:38
Speaker
And on the other side of that, they have got just what looks like a kind of like a hatchet, like a woodcutting hatchet. um But that is the vast majority of what they look like. The last kind of feature is that they have this large steel collar um that looks like it's got kind of interspaced around it, like kind of bars poking out. It it effectively is a slave collar um that he's kind of wearing around his neck there.
00:09:06
Speaker
This is Bort's dongle, the barbarian.
00:09:13
Speaker
Bort, come along, Bort. Oh, Bort.

Rival Encounter in the Marsh

00:09:18
Speaker
Fantastic. So Blake and Bort so far. Good start. Good start. Fantastic. and So um the same thing over to you then, Bort, for your first action in the skill challenge.
00:09:29
Speaker
Something to help you traverse the marshes. I'm assuming, given what you've just described, you might not be doing athletic or acrobatics the same way that Blake did. the Yeah, the the he has no acrobatical ability.
00:09:42
Speaker
It is pure athletics, pure strength. He's got chunky thighs and he's going to use those powerful legs just to drive him forwards and drive him through through obstacles more so than over and around. um so I'm thinking he's like those um those are shot putters, just absolutely just tighted absolute units.
00:10:02
Speaker
yeah yeah Yeah, pretty much. I'm picturing Kingpin as a Dragonborn. I like that. I like that. Okay, nice. ah So i'm I'm hoping for an athletics roll if you'll allow it. Yeah, absolutely. yep yep yeah um but just kind of it this Is this so you just to keep running and just to power through mud and everything like that?
00:10:21
Speaker
Pretty much. it Yeah, that that's entirely what it is. It's it's just yeah stonking his way through. and s stun away the is a That does.
00:10:32
Speaker
was going to say that hits. Yes, it hits the ground. Yeah, you pass. You pass that one. Thank you very much for that. and as you As you follow the nimble-footed Blake in front of you, you just kind of power through the mud, leaving like almost a wake of water and slosh and slime and a decay behind you as you power through. And last, but by no means chuntering. Yes, chuntering as he goes...
00:10:58
Speaker
Very good. And and last but not least, ah newcomer to the campaign to the podcast as well. ah Rob, welcome. and What do we see? Thank you very much. So it's going to be almost the complete opposite to Bortz.
00:11:13
Speaker
It will be a halfling. And you will see the first thing that's probably most noticeable is the the haircut. It's the medieval monk's tonsure. So he has the shiny top of his bald head and a nice ring of ah luscious halfling-like locks around the rest of his head.
00:11:32
Speaker
You see him, he's got these... classic brown cloaks, very just plain, but there's lumps and bumps that you can see underneath them.
00:11:43
Speaker
And there's a bit of clanking that's going on underneath those robes as well. The thing that stands out on those robes is he's got a little necklace on, and on that necklace is a little silver foot.
00:11:57
Speaker
And... His name is brother Brian Blessedos. The cleric. We've got a team of bees. Literally. but A team of bees.
00:12:10
Speaker
And... um ah Same to you then, brother Brian Blessedoes, which I struggle to write say that. and A way to help you traverse the the the the marshes. Again, it doesn't have to be physically.
00:12:23
Speaker
It can be more, I'm going to think about this, of nature or or slight, I don't know if you can play slight of hand, but you know something in order to help you move across. Perception, could you be to find the best route across, survive, or anything like that really.
00:12:35
Speaker
and What would like to roll? Yeah, I was thinking going along the lines of survival, trying to pick out that best route and be going carefully. It's ah again, very much the opposite to Bort, going nice and slow, taking my time, picking out that right path.
00:12:51
Speaker
Okay, absolutely. Yep. want to give that roll? Oh, that is a five. Okay. Very good. Thought face first. Splat.
00:13:03
Speaker
One failure. It's, it's cumulative anyway. So as long as the group gets a set number of passes, um, then that's absolutely fine. Um, and behind you, brother, Brian, bless toes.
00:13:16
Speaker
I wrote this name before I realized everyone had bees and my, my NPC kind of ruins it a little bit here. um, It's what seems to be a quite an elderly lady ah following up behind. And ah Brian, you just realize, remember that she's just been talking to herself the entire time and everything has been a complaint.
00:13:36
Speaker
And she's got kind of dark, gray, ah sorry, dark brown, but graying hair that's tied back into like a plait at the back of her hair. She's wearing like a leather piece of armor. She's got a short sword at side that seems like it's never left scabbard.
00:13:52
Speaker
Her main reason for being there for you three has been to get you to this point. She's the cartographer that Isilda sent along to map out some of the insides of the of the spire and to get you to this location that she provided the map for.
00:14:07
Speaker
And she, again, has just been chuntering and annoyed this entire time. ah She's going to try and follow. She's going use perception to try and follow you, Brian, in your ah wake as well and fails nicely. Bad idea. Bad idea. No, 13.
00:14:21
Speaker
Oh, it's a beast then. Never mind, never mind, never mind. Actually, she does pass. She manages to correct once or twice and just, it's over there actually, and jumps off to the sidebar as you continue to chunter on into into nothingness.
00:14:33
Speaker
Uh, background then for the second quick round of this and it's, uh, Blake Bellwood. Sorry. Um, uh, was there something you wanted to? Yeah. What's the old lady's name? Didn't, didn't catch her name.
00:14:43
Speaker
Oh, Herrick. Herrick. Herrick. That's all she said. You think it's her name or she's just been coughing. You're not sure. Nice. Nice.
00:14:55
Speaker
any Anytime her name has been asked of, which it hasn't mo much, it's she's just gone, Eric, Eric. And you're not sure if it's a cough, is it a slight, is it name? You don't care. Or no, particularly.
00:15:08
Speaker
and in that order. Probably, yeah. So, Eric. Eric is her name. Eric. Or she's hooking something up. hook to Right, ah Blake. Oh,
00:15:20
Speaker
Blake Bellwood, your second your second attempt at the skill challenge then. what would you like to roll? Can't be the same as you've previously done. What would you do? I'm going to go straight perception on this one.
00:15:32
Speaker
I feel he's got a an idea, measure of the ground, knows where he's going. He's now focused on his goal, focused on his destiny, got the spire in sight, and he's just kind of letting the energy around his body flow, feel the earth around him.
00:15:48
Speaker
and And going from there, for a straight perception check, you can see his goal is focused on his goal. He's trusting his instincts. All right, go for it. What'd you get for that? It's the same modifier, actually, but I've rolled the wrong dice. 18.
00:16:03
Speaker
Very good. Yep, not problem. You can, again, pick out that path. You can see the bubbling, churning ground. And with an 18 perception, Blake, you also... in the Between you and the spire, you notice a ripple in the water, ah quite large ripple that seems to appear and then disappears very, very quickly. But you you did notice that with the 18 perception.
00:16:26
Speaker
ah Very good. at Moving on to Bort's dongle. You've just been powering through the water and mud um without care in the world at this point. oh yeah Would Bort's have noticed this ah ripple as well?
00:16:40
Speaker
ah No, no, no, no. You haven't had the perception. Okay. Yeah, not a problem. He's just plowing. Sorry, what's your act what's your passive perception? It's going to be balls. ah The passive perception is 10.
00:16:52
Speaker
Yep. no Nope. You can't see past your cheeseburger. Okay. Not a clue. yeah Yeah. So he's kind of been powering through the sink, getting a little bit tired or so, but he doesn't want to lose face. So he just turns over his shoulder and barks back to Brian.
00:17:07
Speaker
Yeah. You put yourself first just in case there's a big puddle. I don't want to fall in. I don't float very well. And I'd like to use intimidation to try and get Brian to go in front of me.
00:17:23
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. Okay. Okay. I love that. I love that so much. Yeah. Let's go for that. don't have very good stats, man. Make it the most of your skills. i love it. Absolutely.
00:17:34
Speaker
It's 18. Wow. Hell yeah. Okay. Yep. um You managed to be intimidating towards Brian and have... he feels pressured into doing something, whether he does or not. It's that's not up to me. That's up to Rob, but, um, yes, for all intents and purposes, you can use that to pass, uh, it's five passes so far now, uh, Brian, back to you. You've kind of wandered off track a little bit and then just hear this huge black skin scale dragonborn, just barking at you to go forward in front of him.
00:18:07
Speaker
Um, uh, what would you like to do? Yeah, I think, uh, uh, The skill I'm thinking is probably a history check to think back to times of adventuring in in similar marshlands and see if I can draw on any of that old knowledge.
00:18:28
Speaker
Okay. yeah i'm
00:18:32
Speaker
Yes, I'll roll that.
00:18:36
Speaker
Oh, 23. Okay. Wow. Yeah. So not only do you ah remember being in marshlands like this, you've read books on it as well. Old texts, not only of wild hearty and ah ah ah marshlands, but marshlands across Ereth as well.
00:18:53
Speaker
And ah because that, you understand the way these waters move. They move towards a sinkhole. They move towards a location. Either something's pulling it away or it's sinking into the ground. And here, it very much has been pulled away.
00:19:06
Speaker
So you know that because it's been pulled away, it's been pulled away to the north. You're heading kind of east. If you stick more to the right of things, it doesn't... Sorry, the left of things, it won't affect you as much. And so you managed to use that to get your head in line for that.
00:19:20
Speaker
You also... You also, with a roll that high, once you look at the tower, you've heard of these things before.
00:19:32
Speaker
You can't quite put your finger on where or why or how, but towers in places they shouldn't be, spires that don't match the rock formations, seem to ring a bell. Think of it like Stonehenge. If suddenly you...
00:19:47
Speaker
you know, the sea moved back and there was another Stonehenge off the Scottish coast. You'd be like, hang on a minute, we've seen one of those before. ah How it get there? You're kind of having those kind of thoughts a little bit with ah with a history roll that high as well there. Yes, that does, you pass that one.
00:20:03
Speaker
And Herrick is ah going to... look towards her athleticism. She has very little athleticism. Uh, okay. Yep. She fails that.
00:20:13
Speaker
Uh, and, um, and kind of face plants a little bit into the, has to put her hands down to catch herself. The mud ends up going up to her elbows and she pulls herself up. Oh no, not again. Covered in mud. Not again. Covered in mud.
00:20:26
Speaker
I'm, I'm Blake. I'm covered. I'm covered in mud. Blake. My book is covered in mud. Blake. I'm covered in mud. And she just keeps. Oh my heaven's sake. Eric's covered in mud Eric covered in mud oh bugger this bugger this storm and sultan's seeing them bugger this and she just keeps buggering up and um following up um with with the rest of the group as well and That is six passes to two fails. So um we've managed to make it through. Nothing bad particularly happens as you start to approach. You get within probably about 70 or 80 feet of this and you start to see the size of this spire.
00:21:03
Speaker
um It's quite impressive. It also shows you how low below sea level you really are for this to to have been hidden for so long underground. And it is quite a majestic tower. It's built it's not been hewn out of it's been very much built but has a very otherworldly feel to it it's kind of almost quite spiky or once was spiky if it hadn't been covered in moss algae and get the glow moss that kind of covers it giving it a slight bioluminescent glow as well but before you get within range for that can I just have a check could I have everyone roll a perception check for me please sports can try
00:21:44
Speaker
Bort is going to Bort. ah Let's start, though, with, just because I've got you in 1, 2, 3 order, we'll start with ah Blake for now. I rolled a 7, but my passive is 15. 15, wow. Bort?
00:22:01
Speaker
I rolled a 13, and I have 13. And ah Brian, brother? I rolled a 5, and my passive is 13. yeah get this Get the shit rolls out now. That's that's well worth it. Okay, with 13, that's fine. you can get down 15 definite passes. With that, you hear a voice ah ah kind of shouting over the mo marshlands towards you.
00:22:30
Speaker
You just hear this, OI! i i as you look not far off over an expanse of water on a slightly larger kind of island in the middle, nearer to the lake, you notice a small encampment, three tents set up in a small concertina tight area with a small fireplace in the middle. You now see very the fire is well lit, but there's a little bit of smoke rising up. And you only now notice this.
00:22:59
Speaker
And you see a number of individuals stood around this. You see a few of them that you do recognize from previous treasure hunts, maybe from surge diving, maybe from other experiences around Wild Heart.
00:23:11
Speaker
They're a bunch of bastards. They're just known as the freebooters. And all they do is do the stuff that you do, except they're more arsehole-y about it. And whether or not you've worked together or not as a group, it doesn't matter. um One thing's for certain, if these guys are here before you, that doesn't bode well for you.
00:23:30
Speaker
One of them steps forward and you can see her now and you know her by name. Ralfio is her name. And she has these tight ah braids to her head and a ah crossbow down to her side.
00:23:43
Speaker
And she looks up at you. Well, well, well, what do we have here? a bunch of hopefuls thinking they can waltz in and claim the prize for themselves. Sorry, but we got here first.
00:23:56
Speaker
So unless you feel like donating your gear to the the freebooters here, I suggest you turn around and fuck off.
00:24:05
Speaker
You're about 50 feet away from her at this point, but she's hollered it clearly. You also notice two others at her camp as well. One seems to be armed. and they Well, they both seem quite well armed as well.
00:24:17
Speaker
They've all noticed you. We're going to shout back. Not in the mood to fuck off. I'll have to pass up on this great opportunity. just swivel.
00:24:29
Speaker
Stick the middle finger up at her. Fantastic. All right, then after that ah lovely introduction, what were you called again? Oh, yeah, Blake. Is there anything else, the other two, ah Brian or Bortz, that you want to do before this and initially falls into what we assume is going to be an attack?
00:24:48
Speaker
Bortz will just fumble at his the sides of his bum bag to try and pull out the the the weapons that he's got at the side there. he's going to go but always ah no to get she for be a big well it' got old on just white And he's going to hold up a little finger, like ah a single finger as he's kind of reaching around his flab and just trying as as desperately as he can to withdraw the weapons. Wait, what is if it's turning to a fight, just give us a chance, will you?
00:25:17
Speaker
Blaine's going to turn to him. Look, the took took your arms in and roll. It'll be fine. You'll be okay. i What are you saying? Your great body mass is very dangerous.
00:25:32
Speaker
While this conversation is going on, Brian, um what are you, what's going on in your mind here for your halfling? I'll just sort of mumble to myself while they're, but I haven't even found anything yet anyway. You'll never be finding nothing. It's going finders keepers. That's what it'll be. And I'll rub my little, my little foot necklace as well.
00:25:53
Speaker
Just...
00:25:55
Speaker
as a little comfort thing ready to ready to fight ah like that you said necklace at the end of that yeah necklace yeah for a moment i had like the water boy scene envisioned we're just like pulling nipples and theated pulling on the necklace none of that yeah still early days um right so uh bort's You see, well, actually you all see her ah lift up her crossbow and just take a shot.
00:26:25
Speaker
And Bortz says, you're there fumbling and you've literally said, this is going to turn into a fight. Wait, wait, wait. You're going for a weapon. You're the biggest threat here. So she's going to take a shot at you as an 18 to hit your AC. Oh yeah, definitely.
00:26:38
Speaker
Okay. ah You're going to take, oh, dice. Oh, there you go. uh four points of piercing damage as this uh bolt thuds in um okay but treating that as a kind of a surprise round issue we're kind of preparing for it so um oh that's wrong guys can i ask you all to please roll initiative for the first of a few times maybe ah yeah let's do it do it do it yeah so one roll for everyone all right did anyone get above 20
00:27:09
Speaker
Yeah. Excellent. Anyone above 15? yeah ah got 19. 16 for Bort. Blake. Bort.
00:27:22
Speaker
Baddies. And what did ah what did Brian end up getting? Eight. Eight? Eight.
00:27:34
Speaker
That's fine. That's, that's, that' he's busy with his foot. He's busy playing with his feet. It's bit distracted. and So, yeah, we've been done. I want to make it, I was going to make a toes pun, but ah can't think of it yet. So come back to me.
00:27:48
Speaker
um All right, so you should be dropping just initiative order then. Let me just also... Oh, I was about to just forget. I've made a map. So let's go to the map and um and get on that bad boy.
00:27:59
Speaker
So you will hopefully see now bottom left-hand corner, and the three of you hopefully named up. Blake, Brother, Blah, Blah, and Blah, Toes, Bort's Dongle, and I'll make one for our lovely NPC, but she's not going to fight in this anyway. and and Then the map is, as I've described it to you before, in front of you actually, just off to the...
00:28:19
Speaker
side is a large rock which would give you height for cover. Any of the large rocks you can see on the map um are about 10 to 15 feet high and therefore would give you, if you hit directly behind it, give you full cover.
00:28:33
Speaker
i'm So from that, around the very center is the encampment with the three individuals around there, which that have engaged you so far. Well, the one that has engaged you so far. The other two have not yet moved.
00:28:45
Speaker
couple of things when we run this. If you go into water, the water can vary from about... three inches of water to 15, 16, 20 feet of water.
00:28:56
Speaker
You're never really going to know until you go into it. im What will also happen throughout this is there's some environmental hazards, which I'm going to include, the marshland unstable for fighting.
00:29:08
Speaker
and Any movement through the area, I'm going to ask you to make a dexterity and acrobatics check. ah in order to stay upright failure to do so means you kind of sink knee or hip deep depending on your weight yeah and and you have your movement speed as a result of that so it then costs a bonus action to kind of pull yourself out of it and continue without using up all your action so i'll at the start of your turn that's the first thing unless you're not going to move you're not going to move not a problem you won't do it if you move It will be a DC 12 acrobatics check to not lose half your movement as you get stuck in the mud, pretty much. It's it's a bloody game of stuck in the mud, let's be honest here.
00:29:48
Speaker
So, at top of the rind, Blake. What are your intentions with my Blake? Blake. Blake is going to quickly, just kind of, if you'll permit me anyway, um turn to ah brother Brian Blastoise.
00:30:07
Speaker
I'm to have to get really close, have my back, and I'm just going to start to sprint. I'm going to run to the edge of like the dry area of First Island and then try and jump to the rock that's kind of protruding out of the river, so out of the marshland.
00:30:27
Speaker
But as I do, i kind of want to take the spear from behind my back and and hurl it at ah the nearest ah target, which is this person here. I don't know if that is Ralfio. That But just pinging on the map. Yes, that is her. That is her. and From where I kind of aimed that, that's about 60 feet away.
00:30:50
Speaker
Yeah, it's very much on the very precipice of my range to throw without disadvantage. Not a problem. Okay, so first things first, could i have you roll an acrobatics check for me firstly, please?
00:31:02
Speaker
Yes. 22. Fine, you've passed. Not problem. love being a monk. You're unaffected by the mud. So yes, you can absolutely run. Are you scaling up the side of this...
00:31:14
Speaker
as well or do you want to just do the run jump throw bit first i just run jump throw and land 30 okay yeah so you can get 30 you how much what movement you got 30 35 feet i've got 40 40 okay okay so you can get to the rock as well yeah okay um you can do the jump okay give me the roll to hit is with disadvantage because you're at this the ah the long range of your spear is that right
00:31:42
Speaker
Yeah, if I'm shooting from the... even Anything from the rock back has me rolling at disadvantage. Yeah. and Which I think it would be when the throw actually happened anyway. Okay. And with disadvantage,
00:31:56
Speaker
um I rolled... Christ, no, I forgot what my first one was. Where's the log on this?
00:32:05
Speaker
That sounds like a Callum problem, not a... LAUGHTER
00:32:10
Speaker
is it because it was dog shit don't want to remember it no I need to bring the game log the worst one I got was 19 fuck yeah I got a 21 and a 19 very good roll the damage on that bad boy very impressive I rolled one on the damage at 5 points in total okay Not bad. ah You do midair, throw your jet your spear out and it sings through the air.
00:32:35
Speaker
um It's only the fact that it's such a long distance, she kind of sees it coming. Half doesn't expect it to get that far. When it does, terror in her eyes and then it just grazes down um her kind of side ah near her ribs and catches there. And she does kind of cover that before reloading another bolt into a crossbow.
00:32:53
Speaker
Very nice first move. So I've got you kind of um like... like a spider kind of pinned to the side of this, the backside of this rock about five feet up. Probably you've probably got another 10 feet above you to go just so you know, before you get the top and on top, it's quite flat, probably about five or six feet worth of flatness

Navigating Treacherous Terrain

00:33:11
Speaker
on top. If that's what you're aiming for. Okay. Okay.
00:33:13
Speaker
Yeah, that's fine. and Bonus action I can actually use to ah dash, so I'm going to give myself a little bit of extra movement and just make sure I'm up um and I've got like a bit of solid footing just on the top of this ah protruding rock that I've launched my spear from.
00:33:31
Speaker
Could you give me a perception check, please, Blake? Yeah, of course I can do
00:33:37
Speaker
Ah, no, my first natural one. Yay. You're blind for life. No. and Okay, thanks very much. Bye. End of your turn. Bortz, your turn. um You've just seen this little monk man run up and throw a spear, and that's quite impressive.
00:33:52
Speaker
and What do you want to do? I said I wasn't ready. And he's going to snap off the ah bolt that is kind of twanged into one of his scales.
00:34:05
Speaker
And he's going to go, it makes me a little bit upset, really. And he's going to bonus action rage. and And as he rages, ah he's kind of huffing a little bit more as well. Steam starts rising off him and the moss that's coating him as well starts to glow like a magical...
00:34:24
Speaker
glow uh and he gains five temporary hit points very nice as is one of his features and he is just going to turn and charge directly towards uh ralvio the person that shot him and he's got 40 feet of movement speed as his chonky boy legs kick in and just
00:34:48
Speaker
uh beeline so i will move him 40 feet in the direction of ralvio you mind doing a um and acrobatics check dc 12 please It's not going to happen, mate.
00:35:02
Speaker
It's not going to happen, just so you're aware. Are you a wild tree barbarian there? Yeah, but... Yeah, you are! Natural 20, let's go. Oh, hell yeah. Was it really? Yeah, it was.
00:35:12
Speaker
Holy shit! The most acrobatic fat boy in the world. Good dude. You see Blake looking at this lard off, and he's like, but why can he do that? Why is he doing that? It's just anger. and But my natural 20 brings it down to an 18, so it is an 18.
00:35:30
Speaker
Yes, yeah, it was a... um What did I say it was? Did I say? 12. It was a 12, I think, to to pass so anyway. yeah So I've just moved 40 feet, I think.
00:35:41
Speaker
No, I can't move 40 feet. ah But I'm just chart in a straight line. I'm not pussyfooting around with the water. I'm straight lining it and ahead. So actually, it looks like I yeah didn't go 40 feet. It looks like I went 30 on my first one.
00:35:54
Speaker
So I get myself, with my action to dash... And my bonus action, activating the rage, I'm up in the face of, like mid-charge, up in the face of Ralvio.
00:36:08
Speaker
just And as i've as he's been charged, and he's been going, I said I wasn't ready! yeah And he's got both now, he's fully equipped with his... ah with his weapons in each hand that was terrifying how quickly you traversed that space i thought at least i had a turn or two that is when he moved was like hang on a minute where's he where's he put the fuck me right yeah i see there's blake thinking i've done really well to get here and you'll see this giant thing just flipped by the hand the fuck water just parted like the end of moana just yeah make way make way what's dongle is under the loose
00:36:49
Speaker
disheartened blake on a rock all right then uh moving down it's the baddies turn first the baddies i've got them down but because as blake bought baddies so i thought i'd call them baddies um uh the individual we're in kind current combat with ah she's going to disengage but And she's going to run away 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 and hide behind a tent um to give her some form of cover.
00:37:14
Speaker
ah There's another individual that she ran past who steps forward in armor. He swings what looks like a bastard sword ah down and over his shoulder and steps forth towards you and is going to take an attack against you for a natural one.
00:37:29
Speaker
Fuck! and God damn it. nope he's fine and just that's that's all he can do there's another character stood off to the side and he's going to 25 he's going to come up to your kind right hand side back around the back of a tent uh and he's going to take a swing he's got a pair of daggers in his hands much better 17 to hit yep oh man gonna take three points of piercing damage as he just stabbed you in my leg course very good that's all he can do herrick um she's just going to continue complaining about the mud and is going to head north away from this literally fully ignoring uh the combat that's taking place still bitter about having dirty elbows uh brian down to you everyone's run off what do you want yeah i will move 15 20 to the edge of that dry patch there
00:38:30
Speaker
And I would like cast Waterwalk on myself and Blake. Okay. So that would
00:38:45
Speaker
mean that The mud is fine for us to to walk over. It doesn't count as dangerous terrain. Take that, friend. Welcome to the podcast.
00:39:00
Speaker
Very good. Just for ease, shall I say you do that before to save you having to do the roll? Or do did you purposely move and then do the spell? I moved to get him in range, so I would have...
00:39:14
Speaker
needed to do the role as well could you do the dc uh 12 acrobatics check please
00:39:22
Speaker
well that's a five okay thought you were fifth five so let's reckon that slightly um how far did you have to move to get to there that was 20 feet okay uh you're limited to 15 well you are 30 feet movement aren't you
00:39:39
Speaker
yeah So you're limited to 15. Does that mean you can't get Blake in your spell range now? ah i am 25 feet away. can, I can. It's 30 feet.
00:39:49
Speaker
There you go. Okay, fine, fair enough. So, yes, you managed to cast that um Water Walk, and now you and Blake are unencumbered by the acrobatics check at the beginning of the round.
00:40:01
Speaker
It will be, however, Bort, you'll still have to be doing it, as will the enemies as well, eventually. Okay. Back round to Blake. You're on top of the rock. You suddenly feel this tingling in your toes.
00:40:15
Speaker
I assume it's done specifically for toes, Brian, is that? Yeah, and he probably will say, bless your toes, message. Amazing. Right. Your feet maybe glow slightly. i don't know. I'm adding flavor here. um And you understand what's just happened. the The capacity water that is on your feet just instantly repel, almost like ah water on glass or oil on water.
00:40:38
Speaker
And there's a repellent feature to And you understand what's happening here, okay? So you can make use of that if you wish. So over to you. What do you want to do? Well, I will let him Brother Brian Blessedo's whatever description it looks like when I water walking, I will let him decide on that one.
00:40:55
Speaker
So if it's just a sensation that goes through my toes, perfectly fine. I'm not here for this thing. But knowing what's going on, it literally is going to, kind of nod his head thank um brian blessed those and i'm just gonna use all my movement bonus action dash um the one that has kind of come from behind the tent so to the right of burt um you're just gonna have this um monk buff monk run sprint over water over land
00:41:33
Speaker
come directly in front of him and almost, he's going to kind of jump up. He's going to bring both arms out. And in the worst possible manner, he's just going to use, cause I have two attacks as a monk and both of are going to do for this.
00:41:45
Speaker
I was going to bring his hands together and smash them around his head straight onto his ears. Oh shit. brutal Callum. Hells yeah. You're right mate, do you want to talk? You're in a tough week.
00:41:56
Speaker
I have problems. and So are you doing this as two separate attacks but it's just a flavour that it's the slap on the ear? It's flavour that that's how he's doing it but it is two separate attacks so it is me attack and then extra attack. You can speed roll them, speed roll them if you like if you're comfortable with that or not, do them one at time, up to you.
00:42:12
Speaker
Yeah, fair enough. 15 to hit on the first one. Hits. And 9 to hit on the second. Misses. Thought so. um I will roll one bit of damage, which is 12 points of bludgeoning damage as I... What?
00:42:27
Speaker
12 points of bludgeoning damage. Yes. I only hit with one. Still a lot, man. What? As a monk, it's a D8 for the attack damage, and I rolled max...
00:42:40
Speaker
Fuck, he's dead. You slapped the little brains out of his head. It's gone. he's he's He's gone. Yeah, he's no longer. He is an ex-rogue.
00:42:57
Speaker
um Fuck me. That was... Jesus Christ. Yeah, that was brutal. Blake's just going to be there standing over with his body. He's like, yeah! Nice. and but Very good, very good.
00:43:09
Speaker
Anything else you want to do with your turn, Blake? Blake. How much movement did I use ah to get there? Oh, only 55.
00:43:20
Speaker
So seeing as I dashed as well, I've got another 25 feet worth of movement, um which I could appreciate I'm going to have to probably go around the tent here.
00:43:35
Speaker
and but I'm going to try and get as close to, um, Ralfio, who started to run away at what i possibly can do. 25 feet. Did you say? That's how much movement I have left after of my movement and bonus action dash.
00:43:48
Speaker
Okay. I've just popped you where you are about 10 feet away from her at the moment and comes in the near end of the water. Um, she's kind of three, two, three feet in the water. She's two, both her feet are in the water, not on the dry issue of land behind one of the tents.
00:44:02
Speaker
She's desperately trying to reload her, her bolt into a crossbow as you ah kind of come around the corner. But before we get to Bortz's turn, ah Blake, could I have another perception check, please?
00:44:14
Speaker
Oh, boy. these are gonna get Is your natural 15? Passive is okay. And I rolled a 22. Okay. and The ripple moved closer in the water.
00:44:27
Speaker
ah You can now see it with purpose moving towards... ah the watery, but' the edge the edge of the water where ah where you you currently are at the moment. and It's deep enough you can't see what it is. Again, on Roll20, ignore what it is.
00:44:43
Speaker
It's not what it is on the map. It's just ah an image to show. It's something that looks a bit like a ripple, but it's not actually a ghost or a wraith or whatever the fuck it actually is in on the map. So ignore that. and And it's just moving at pace directly towards what looks like you. Okay?
00:44:59
Speaker
Yeah. I'm going to kind of do a quick glance over to Bort at that and just think, should I warn him? And then I think, no, he's fine. He's going to be okay. He's going to be fine, isn't he?
00:45:10
Speaker
And... One thing you also notice with your 15, you hear a shout ah from the south directly to your south, which is away from where you had. And all of a sudden, these two figures, which is why I've getting you do perceptions before that, two more figures appear out of the bushes off to a southern island.
00:45:28
Speaker
And these two bolts just kind of fly in towards ah yourself and towards Bortz. The first one towards Blake. ah That is a 17 to hit.
00:45:40
Speaker
and That hits. Where's my correct little dice? D6, D6. That's four points of piercing damage on yourself and four boards.
00:45:53
Speaker
As a thing, I'm going to use as my reaction ah deflect attack. Very good. So I can reduce the attack's total damage by plus 9.
00:46:05
Speaker
but So it's just going to get reduced to zero anyway. that's that shit Have you got thing where you catch it and throw it back? I can do, but e throwing back a focus point now, throwing it back is a lot of damage, and I don't think these guys are that powerful. So I'm just going kind of turn around and grab the arrow.
00:46:25
Speaker
ah You know, with my key points, wave the finger in front of it. No, no, no. 16 against Bortz's AC. Oh, yeah. i yeah five h but Five points of piercing damage. I'll take two, but thank you for letting me finish. I'll let you wind them down.
00:46:42
Speaker
do These two more shots come in from there, and they'll run with the baddies from now, but we'll miss the next turn. Just i wanted to introduce the two elements at the same time. Bortz, over to you. you've ah You just hear the slap to your right, and the head of this rogue just literally explodes, and then a flex, and then he runs off again from ah from ah from Blake. What do you want to do?
00:47:02
Speaker
Amazing. How far away from me is Blake? Out of interest. 5, 10, 25 feet. Okay, never mind. I cannot do that as a free feature. ah His his m MO is get to Ralvolio, who first slapped at him.
00:47:18
Speaker
ah But currently standing in front of him is someone that is in his way. I'd like you to move out the way, please. And I'm going to launch a scimitar. ah No, sorry, a hand axe attack ah with this kind of driftwood...
00:47:34
Speaker
um driftwood weapon that's like ah an axe on one side more of a hammer on the other um but i'm doing it reckless so it is a 19 to hit yeah that hits okay and because i'm raging that guy is gonna take 12 points of damage Fuck me.
00:47:51
Speaker
That's a favorite number for damage so far. He's going down. He doesn't go down because this guy has slightly more armor on himself. It's not a problem because with my, ah the Nick feature on the scimitar, which is his offhand is going to come in ah as part of this attack action, still with advantage because he is reckless ah for a 26 hit.
00:48:15
Speaker
ah Yeah, that it's me and that's 7 points of ah slashing damage with the scimitar, um not the 11 that's showing up because i don't get to add the ah plus 4. I'm raging so I get to add plus 2 to it.
00:48:30
Speaker
ah Yes, so that's the slash that comes in. He drops the ah bastard sword in his hands. You can see blood. He's got a full and kind of ah face piece in, kind of a bandage over the mouth and eyes. Just his eyes are seeing.
00:48:46
Speaker
And you can see blood dripping out of his mouth after those two vicious hits. He is still upright, but not in a particularly positive manner. Not a problem. Bonus action, obviously, with the two weapon. Yeah.
00:49:00
Speaker
Dual wielding feet. He spins the hand axe around to the war hammer now, and he's going to bring the war hammer down with advantage. It's a 26 on the first, but let's just try advantage. No, 26 to hit.
00:49:13
Speaker
Yep, hits. Okay, then he will take... I don't know why that came out weirdly.
00:49:24
Speaker
So that's only two, four points. Okay. I think four points of bludgeoning damage. ah Yeah. Cause it's one handed four points of bludgeoning damage, but he's pushed back 10 feet.
00:49:35
Speaker
ah His corpse is has flown back 10 feet. And he falls in a heap on the ground after that absolute flurry of attacks. Okay. He's going to charge directly forward through the fire, through the tent and,
00:49:48
Speaker
to be within five feet. He's not going around corners. Bortz doesn't like turning. He's straight line, straight towards Ralfio. If that means i take fire damage, if that means I get tangled in the tent, so be it.
00:50:00
Speaker
and four points of Four points of fire damage. Could you give me an athletics check? No, no, no, no. It's just a three fucking strength check. ah usually I get it with advantage because I'm raging. Use athletics.
00:50:13
Speaker
It's the same thing. It's higher. It's one more fun. Yeah. So that is a 25. Fuck. I said it is 20 as well. Yes.
00:50:24
Speaker
and You just literally burst through this tent, ripping it in half. None of the ropes or anything catch on you. You just run over like piles of wood that were been stored for the fire. Crush, crush, crush. Just everything is mullered.
00:50:38
Speaker
And you are, yeah, you're faceto- face to face. That tent's no longer there. And you are face to face with her. Then I'll say, said I wasn't ready. Extra attack, because I'm level five. ah With advantage.
00:50:51
Speaker
Coming in with the Warhammer. ah Does a 16 hit?
00:51:02
Speaker
It does. Okay, in which case they'll take 13 points of b bludging damage and be pushed back 10 feet.
00:51:12
Speaker
Back into the water even deeper. Very good. Yep. Wow. Incredible amounts of damage there. Holy shit.
00:51:24
Speaker
Okay. ah Baddy's turn. um There's only one left, really. um She... yep Yep. You see her take this hair, it gets pushed back, skims almost over the edge of the water, stands, and then just her eyes look wide towards you as so quickly her head spins round. And then she is going to like start like fucking grabbing at the water, trying to to get herself. It's about waist deep at this point.
00:51:49
Speaker
And it's going to take her most of her movement, 5, 10, 15, to kind of get herself out of the water. And what she's going to try and do is grab a Blake,
00:52:02
Speaker
um and It's going to be a grapple.
00:52:07
Speaker
Saving throw time. Yeah, it's just a saving throw. So the DC would be eight plus proficiency plus your strength modifier. And that would be the DC that ah he's got to beat with either dex or strength save.
00:52:24
Speaker
So I can do a dex? I think so. no you Yeah, yeah. yeah yeah If you're a monk, you get to set the DC with your dex instead. um So I imagine our proficiency at this level, is it is it a plus two or plus three for our proficiency bonus?
00:52:39
Speaker
Okay, 11 plus her strength would be the DC then. Yeah, you you tell me the score, isn't it? And I have to roll against it. Other way around. so You set the DC. The grappler sets the DC.
00:52:51
Speaker
And yeah. So whatever her strength score is, add that to 11 and that's the DC to beat.
00:52:58
Speaker
no Or create it yourself because you're the DM. You're the fucking god of this world. No, I follow the rules. Yeah, 30. No, 16. I rolled 13. A 30?
00:53:09
Speaker
is i i rolled a thirteen do i fail ah thirty 13 13 okay 13 i got a 13 excellent fine something's actually going my way for this all right um this also like me confuses the shit out of me want to put you in the water can i do that with you grappled uh you can make it a shove attack um so it's a grapple or or a shove it's not both unless she's got a certain feat to her or a feature to her um I can't move with them grappled, can I?
00:53:43
Speaker
You can move with grappled. It's half speed. So you can grapple and drag technically. and I mean, i i there's no i my ruling for it, I think. If you were to grapple someone and move them to a different space without yourself moving, I assume that that that sounds logical if you use your movement speed to do it. On my head, you'd be on the same space because you're in that same five metre.
00:54:05
Speaker
we go yeah Yeah, you don't have to be pulled. it It's up to you Well, okay. i've She's got about 10 feet left of movement. And so she is going to grab you kind of headlock style chokehold.
00:54:16
Speaker
She's going to twist you around so you're facing in the water and then is going to walk way down into the water one space with you. You are going to be in front her meat shield um and she's going to hold you there basically. That's her turn. I'm still water walking just as a... Oh, wow. Yeah, that's going to be weird. it's not, but know kind of bent up it's not super deep. way It's not super deep. when We're talking a yeah a couple of inches of water here. it gets deeper in the next five, 10 feet. So it's not quite there yet.
00:54:48
Speaker
Um, Herrick continues, continues to search up and trying to find a nice bit of water to wash her elbows in. Um, and that's all she's going to do. Uh, Brian, uh, things have moved somewhat further away from you in the last and very expediously in the last ah turn.
00:55:03
Speaker
Um, what do you want to do? You've still got the two enemies to the South that have been firing shots. Um, you've got uh, main captain, if you will, of this group still, uh, still alive, or you can see the scuffle going on out from your position. What would you like to Do have a ah clear shot at her from where I am?
00:55:26
Speaker
Um, Ralphio. Ralphio. Yes. um
00:55:37
Speaker
You kind of got Bortz in the way. And I would say if it was any other character, you'd probably be all right. Bortz is apparently six and a half foot wide. Bortz is bigger than one square.
00:55:49
Speaker
Well, ah he's a bit of an overhang. Bit of a muffin top into another square. you shimmied a bit... Yeah, I'll 5, 10, 15, over.
00:56:03
Speaker
Okay, yeah. Yep, you've got a good angle down little island to the the um east. And I will launch a guiding ball. Is that an issue that you're 95 feet away? Is that an issue? What's the range on that bad boy? 120 feet, isn't it? Yep.
00:56:20
Speaker
Not a problem. Cool. All right, fire away. 23. Fucking hell. Yes. booty for This is like the A team going on here. 16 radiant damage. Jesus Christ. She falls like a sack of spuds on the floor.
00:56:41
Speaker
um
00:56:44
Speaker
Yeah. Anything else you want to do with your turn, brian and i think I'll just sidle across the the top of the marsh another 5, 10, 15 towards the the camp.
00:56:58
Speaker
Okay, nice. End of the turn, top of the round. Blake, and you feel this the this ah person who's grabbed you, a groan, a kind of attention, and then she slides off you into the mud.
00:57:09
Speaker
And again, this is when you can see very clearly ah this ripple of water coming directly towards you. You understand now what she was trying to do.

Uncovering Secrets and Threats

00:57:17
Speaker
She seems to understand something that you don't yet, but there is an impending sense of threat.
00:57:22
Speaker
The hairs on the back of your neck are on end. ah You don't like being in the water. right now. What do you want to
00:57:32
Speaker
do? Okay, if I'm feeling this impending sense of doom, I'm going to kind of turn around, step over Ralvio, just tap boards.
00:57:46
Speaker
Just be careful of that thing. i've got some um I've got some other business I've just got to attend to. I'll be back, I promise. They sure are already now.
00:57:59
Speaker
um and yeah again if i did bonus action dash um i get 80 feet worth of movement i'm still water walking uh at the moment my combat i love it Let me trivialize this for you. And I can run all the way down south, over land, over water, um and I'm going to come straight up to one of the guys that kind of come in from the south.
00:58:27
Speaker
And I'm going to run in and just going to, with with like a ah flat palm, just thrust a hand straight into the ah throat of one of the um enemies that were coming from the south.
00:58:41
Speaker
All right, roll to hit.
00:58:44
Speaker
for a natural 20. I'm rolling fucking double damage on this bitch. i mean, if there's any more than you're 12, we're aren't we? I say, oh my God, i it's exactly 12 in all fairness. like I rolled two double damage and I just got 12 then um on the quick double damages. I'm just...
00:59:06
Speaker
comes and he sla in the throat you slap the soul out of his fucking head and again he splats against the wall behind he slides down the tree uh he is now no longer with us and the other guy looks fucking terrified anything else you want to do with your turn blake uh i just want to watch out and because i was around about did 70 feet
00:59:29
Speaker
I use 70 feet to get there. 65, 70 around there. I've probably not got enough room to get to the other guy that's on this island as well. So just as this body slumps, going to take out one of my daggers and they're very casual, pull it out from the waist, fling.
00:59:47
Speaker
um And again, going for the chest area, nice wide open target. That was dark, Callum. 16 to hit. Yeah, that hits. somehow You can see his pain in Mark's voice.
01:00:09
Speaker
Yes, yes, sinces he's dead as well. He's dead as well. What the fuck? Stabbed straight through the chest. um Wow, you guys rolled very well for that. Or I didn't set these guys hard enough at all. But anyway, ilyria but you ah what you noticed, Bortz, if you were paying any attention to the water, which let's be honest, you might not be, but you noticed the ripple thing that was in the water, um kind of out of the combat, back yeah, out of initiative now.
01:00:40
Speaker
and it it It comes up closer, but slower now. And you see it approaches... the corpse of, um, of Ralphio. See, that's what I was going to do.
01:00:53
Speaker
On my turn, was going to, I was going to head in and grab the body of Ralphio. Okay. Okay. Well, let's say that this happens at the kind of simultaneously. And you, as you approach it, let's play it out. As you approach it, the, the water, then the ripple speeds up and you can see it heading towards it.
01:01:10
Speaker
And then you just see, as your hand claw reaches out to, to grab, part of ralvio to pull him maybe out of the water or whatever um a tug or and the body starts to kind of shift towards the water towards the ripple um what you want to do tug back oh that's mine that's my give it back i contested strength then for the contested strength roll i'm uh bonus action still raging so i'm i'm keeping my rage up He's not quite led it off. It's only a 16 on my half.
01:01:42
Speaker
20 on mine. and What are you grabbing? What part of her are you grabbing? ah Whatever's there. Like if it's an arm, if it's a leg, if the head is still up, he was just going to chat with her. It'll probably be her right arm.
01:01:59
Speaker
cool her right arm if the way she's gone. So you've grabbed that, you pull it, and it's incredible amount of power nonetheless. this This is quite a beast in the water and you're quite a beast on the land. um And you just tear her arms fairly out of its socket and you're left with just this arm and there's a kind of splash of water and you see this kind of writhing mass of...
01:02:20
Speaker
of darkness of something, it seems like a tail or a fin, or is it just water? you you can't really see it. It's just this convulsing movement of water and, and then a small kind of spiral, almost like a mini,
01:02:36
Speaker
plug hole almost starts to appear and disappears. And it's another but thrashing of water and then stillness. And, um, the corpse is just floating on top of the water and the ripples disappear off into the distance.
01:02:50
Speaker
You're holding an arm. The body is still there.
01:02:54
Speaker
as So the thing's moved off, whatever it is seems to. Yeah. It's gone back the way it came off into the water. Cool. Around the corner into the mist. Well, that wasn't very polite. Uh,
01:03:05
Speaker
and he'll take a step forward to grab the body. Okay. I should pull out. Um, Brian, and not Brian, sorry. Uh, Blake, was there something you wanted to do in process? Yeah. It's all right. Just as that has obviously happened and he's kind of pulling the body, uh, back up. I'm assuming I can start making my way back over to where, uh, Bortz is. And as I'm going to get there, I'm just going to look at him and the body. and and know What's the matter? You get hungry. Yeah.
01:03:34
Speaker
Flood and foam, that wasn't me. That was something spitting in the water. but I just wanted to have a chat with her, but I think she's no longer with us. Yeah, but minus an arm.
01:03:46
Speaker
Not going to affect your speech, but it's certainly not going to help.
01:03:51
Speaker
Well, I'm just going to see if she's got anything shiny on her for one of me collectibles. Yeah, yeah, yeah you you you you go through that. You you loot as you... went i'm I'm going to go through the tents. Why not? let Let's see they've got anything good. Let's donate to our cause.
01:04:08
Speaker
yeah forward i met like I meant actually look inside them, um not literally through, but yeah, golden, brilliant, fantastic. So as you know you start exploring through the tent, I'll get you to a roll an investigation check now for me, Blake, and I'll come back to you a second. bri Brian, you've just approached during this conversation to kind of take place. is there anything you want to do or say in the process?
01:04:33
Speaker
I'll just be be taking it all in and... Yeah, be ah ready to go through the tents as well. That was what i was thinking. That's a good idea there, Blake. They've probably got a few bits and pieces hanging around in these tents. they They may be second-rate treasurer treasure lookers for us, treasure kit finders, but they've probably got something in there.
01:04:54
Speaker
All right, nice work on your grammar a little bit, Brian. You can give me an investigation check too, please, ah Brian, and we can come back to you in a sec. Well, ah sorry, no. Bortz, you're doing a search? you searching her for any items of use?
01:05:09
Speaker
Oh, yeah. There's probably something on her in there. I like to think that Bortz is so dumb that he can actually talk to the DM. That's I am.
01:05:20
Speaker
hear it he doesn't know why but he hears it and you know she didn't get to use it uh on her hip she has got quite a finely crafted blade um and as you reach out and touch it there's a slight static kind have of electricity not enough to hurt you but little tick and as you pull the blade out you can see down the the blade which is a um kind of cutlass, so kind like a scimitar, I guess. so um These kind of small etched lines, almost like if you almost like veins almost going down them. They're kind of every now and then pulse blue.
01:05:55
Speaker
and And you'd have to attune yourself to it, but it would basically mean on a critical hit, ah you add 1d6 lightning damage to your hits. Is it a scimitar?
01:06:06
Speaker
It is a scimitar. Oh, that is beautiful. That is. I'm just going to. And he'll ah take his other scimitar and just try and stuff it into the bum bag. And if it doesn't fit, he'll bend it um so that it can fit.
01:06:19
Speaker
the Rolls um those And it'll have the other one. Yeah, nice. what you do' So you have to tune to that. But I'll let you do it as an instant thing. Otherwise, it'll be forever. What you also do notice as you turn over her body that ah the entirety of her kind of front face, chest, stomach, ah the front of her legs, everything has been absolutely ravaged by this thing.
01:06:44
Speaker
And what it's left is what can only be described as a thick, bubbling, black, ah burnt effect all over her body with huge chunks of her ah kind of ribs are missing her face is half a jaw is falling apart it looks burnt but it was the water and there's no smoke.
01:07:03
Speaker
um And that's what's kind of left of this this face of this was would-be treasure hunter. For the other two, for Brian and for Blake, as you go through, you do find a couple of things.
01:07:16
Speaker
ah You find, ah Brian, you find the fragment of a map and what you notice, interestingly, about this is that it does lead to the spire. You can make that out. It's bit burnt in the corners, as they all must be.
01:07:29
Speaker
um But you also notice that it seems to dictate a small route through the first section of the spire. And it just has an arrow pointing towards the spire. And then next to it has a series of letters.
01:07:42
Speaker
R, L, R, L.
01:07:48
Speaker
So it's R-L-R-R-L. That's what it's got there. and You also find a pendant. ah It seems to be on some thin steel or thin silvery material.
01:08:04
Speaker
It's a chain, if you will, a very thin, small chain. And at the end of it are just three kind of drops of water, all kind of conjoined together. ah You'd recognize this almost instantly as ah as the pendant of a tide caller.
01:08:17
Speaker
one of which who allegedly could court tell to the hour when the tidal surge, the massive tsunami of water, um when it would arrive in Wild Heart. This is dependent from one of the tide callers. How they managed to get hold of it, who knows?
01:08:33
Speaker
ah Yeah, you have it and it faintly glows similar to the runes that they um they access to apparently call upon this ancient magic. and You find that and ah you between you, collectively, find about 30 golds worth of goods. So split it if you want um to freeze with it in the amongst the tents. You also find three weeks of supplies of rations, water, a couple of bedrolls, etc. Enough for five individuals, um which would make sense given that you have um killed five of
01:09:07
Speaker
of that
01:09:10
Speaker
That's all you managed to find there. Anything else you want to do before um we move on? The spire looms ever present in the distance. Well, distance right there, actually. Bring the corpse of Ralvio to the group, like holding her on the back of the neck, almost like like picking up like a pet by the scruff and just holding her out to the group.
01:09:31
Speaker
Her face fell off in the water and like, well, bits of her fell out as well. So just be warned. I think she might be a bit de diseased. And he'll drop her into the the middle of the groups. Blake, I'm going to take a step by night.
01:09:51
Speaker
me I didn't really try and hold back throwing up from the side of like burnt charred black and disgusting riddle of a corpse look could you give me a constitution saving throw please oh I shouldn't have got really I'm shit at this good I got an eight okay yeah you do throw up you do throw up quite a quite a decent amount of your your lunch not lunch dinner night time
01:10:20
Speaker
right often there yeahs go so grasp That's one for the listeners. oh yes. There you go. You hear that noise. like s and point they' go to be People would pay good money for that. i'm sure there's someone that you could you know pay to burp on cue. Oh, God. Yeah. So, yeah, yeah you you fully throw up. Yeah.
01:10:46
Speaker
yeah yeah I can do that as well, but Martin's a little bit more powerful. You've got to give it the gusto from the gut. yeah No, no, no, I don't think I will.
01:10:59
Speaker
up Not something I want to entertain. um Shall we... Brian, find anything good? And just as it is, I'm just kind of looking away and just trying to cover with a bit broken tent this diseased riddled corpse. Yeah.
01:11:16
Speaker
I'll present out the map. i I found this little fragment of map. to Looks like we're on the right track. It's right there. We've done it. Good job. ah hey Eric, gar you've got us here all right. or he Looks like you've been robbing tide callers as well. Look at this.
01:11:33
Speaker
That pendant Eric at this point is going to wander over bastards rubbing the poor The poor tide collar It's terrible disgusting It's right there now I'll come in with you Let's go in together I'll come in with you To make sure You look like you hurt yourself there But Did you hurt yourself the combat?
01:11:56
Speaker
but did you head yourself in the combat No, i didn't, but they did shoot me with arrows and bolts. think that's what I mean when it goes, dearie, look at you, you're bleeding all over me. Oh, bloody hell, bloody hell.
01:12:13
Speaker
Sultan Storm, what will we do with you? And she's going to start just kind of like dabbing like with her bit of material on her tongue and then like too hard, like your nan trying to clean your mouth, like, ow, fucking hell. But she's doing that with these fucking gaping wounds on your on but between your scales.
01:12:30
Speaker
ah Thank you, thank you And he'll lick his hand and dab her back Oh bloody hell I didn't want that really No, not again, we talked about this Bortz We talked about this last time ah what ah yeah yeah you're right, I'm sorry Let's go to the spire Is that the spire there?
01:12:50
Speaker
That spire, that one I believe that's the one we need to get to, the spire. that That's the one. I'll take you into entrance and then I'm probably not going to go much deeper. That's okay.
01:13:02
Speaker
That's all right. Gents, I found the spire. It's right there. If you follow us, we'll lead the way. Oh, Eric wants to say one thing before she goes.
01:13:15
Speaker
The thing I want to say mainly is bit of exposition necessary for the rest of the plot to take place. Oh, that's really important to you. You must remember, lads, that the the water won't stay down forever, you know. Look how high it's supposed to go to cover the spire.
01:13:29
Speaker
And she looks up. Very high, you see. So you've got about six hours or until sunrise to get in, get the fuck out and get out of there. Or it's probably going to be a drowned city, if you know what I mean. Not just a drowned vale, drowned you lot as well. yeah You see, because you'll be dead.
01:13:46
Speaker
So about six hours...
01:13:49
Speaker
Thanks for the moral support. Just thought give you warning of timing and all that. Don't try and take a long rest. Ain't gonna work. Okay. right Bye. And she's gonna wait there and can pity up. I'll sit here with the tents for a while and wait for you to come out. But if you take too long, I will fuck off without you. Okay.
01:14:08
Speaker
Fine. Yeah. Okay. Brian, that other pendant that you kind of got, can you just imagine for me for the next six hours that that thing has got like three conjoined blue toes at the end of it and just really, really keep an eye on it?
01:14:27
Speaker
Oh, right, yeah, right. I suppose they do look a little bit like little blue toes, if I think aren't going come at it. I can see it, you know. I'm sure there's some nice blue toes out there that you've seen before that you can obviously picture your head. Oh, yeah, you don't know. You, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:14:46
Speaker
Oh, yeah, and I'll slip that on so you've got the little the little silver foot next to the the three water drops. so Are we getting toes? I could get some more toes for you, if if that's what we're doing. We don't need toes. We've got blue toes.
01:15:05
Speaker
Brian's keeping eye on blue toes. You can't see your toes. And we just need to head towards the spire, and we're good. I haven't seen them for a while, actually. But it's good to know they're still there.
01:15:16
Speaker
They're still there. I can see them. I can see your toes. Brian can see them. They are lovely toes. they I've never seen toes so scaly. Well, that's a mighty fine compliment there, Brian. Right, follow me.
01:15:30
Speaker
Lead the way. all right, so Bortz, you're in the lead. um I'm assuming this is an order you'll keep up. Bortz, Blake, Brother Brian? Yeah. Yep, yep. Lovely. Okay, Bortz, you just hear, as you start moving towards this um towards the spire, um you can hear a whisper behind you. um You're pretty certain that ah Blake's trying to talk to you.
01:15:55
Speaker
You're going to have to speak up because my ears face forward like a predator, not like prey animals, really. I wasn't saying anything.
01:16:07
Speaker
i was fifteen Towers, 15, 20 feet away from you at this point, and you all feel a sense of vibration, feeling of just iconic energy, anticipation.
01:16:19
Speaker
That's what paying it down to, really. And... ah there's a buzzing, slight buzzing bugs in the air, more than likely. As you get close, as you get close, you really start to notice these spirulatic, that's not a word at all. It's spiralized, spirulatic. I like that. I guess spirulatic effect that seems to encapsulate this entire spire.
01:16:41
Speaker
Um, these very tight circles, they get bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger bigger like title and like um, like, uh, whirlpools almost. And they are paneled all over this thing. You guys have spent a bit of time around Wild Heart and around this eastern part of Earth.
01:16:55
Speaker
Never seen this kind of shape used in this way. You recognize it as what it is. It's lots of circles getting smaller, ah but you've never really seen it as an emblazoned sigil or symbol on anything. And it's all over the tower, the entire way up, the entire way down.
01:17:10
Speaker
You get close. And you notice one thing, other one, as you get close, they for the for the rock form that it is, it's um almost impossibly smooth.
01:17:21
Speaker
It seems to absorb the the natural bright starlight and moonlight that has basically covered the ground and making it feel like daytime. The bioluminescence around you of the Glowmos is almost absorbed by this spire as well.
01:17:37
Speaker
The air is thick with moisture. Every breath carries the scent of salt and something else, something old, something waiting.
01:17:48
Speaker
Almost like when you, and I go into, oh, I don't know the best way of describing this, pull up some old floorboards and that smell of just like stale air mixed with a little bit of mossy, algae, watery, that kind of thing, but kind of almost warm as well. It's not very nice smell.
01:18:05
Speaker
As you get to the front, your footsteps step onto this almost so flat platform of stone, and your footsteps seem to echo, strangely. You can hear inside water dripping, probably forming pools of water on the floor.
01:18:22
Speaker
You're at the entrance at this point. Is there anything you want to do before you enter the spire?

Deciphering Ancient Mysteries

01:18:30
Speaker
So long as I can walk in a straight line, I'm happy.
01:18:36
Speaker
Yeah, nothing nothing Blake will do at this time. It's a casual walk, and he's just kind of looking around. um He's always on guard for threats at this stage.
01:18:49
Speaker
He's still in the doors. He's done some treasure hunting. He's already had one encounter with people. He's expecting more unknowns to be in here to a certain degree, but he doesn't know what. So he's just kind of glancing around, almost on edge.
01:19:01
Speaker
Okay. Anything from Brian before you go in? I think he's going to try and have a look at those sigils, those whirlpool-like runes. Not going to spend too long, but as it's he's carrying on, keeping up pace, he will have a glance at them just to inspect and see if there's anything he can pick up from them.
01:19:23
Speaker
Okay. and What are you looking at? Kind of a history, investigation? what you kind of Yeah, a more history to see if there's anything that I might recognise or have read about.
01:19:34
Speaker
Okay. ah Yeah, give me a history check. See what you find. Or what you remember.
01:19:41
Speaker
That's 17. You know it's old. Older than the current civilization of Wild Heart. this is something that predates modern times in as much as this medieval-esque D&D world is, but it predates that. it's ah It's a civilization before, if not maybe a civilization before that.
01:20:01
Speaker
Kind of like the way we look at ah the pyramids, that kind of distance of time and like you there's a reverend, there's there's a shape to it or the Mayan pyramids is a shape to it and a feel to it. You go, okay, that is that must be at least this old.
01:20:15
Speaker
That's what you kind of get from that. It's... it's There's an ancientness to it. An ancientness, again, isn't a word, but there you go. I'm making up words like Shakespeare. Apart from that, statement but there are no other words. I'll just mention to the others, it's a bit old, this tower, I reckon. know you only seen these runes in really old books. these are and I'm not one for reading. I don't think I've ever really seen anything like this.
01:20:46
Speaker
Well, yeah, it's only in really old books, like I i just said. So if you went into reading, you wouldn't have seen it. Yeah, yeah, I got that. Yeah, you know, good point. Fantastic. I'm pretty sure I've seen one of these before. I'm pretty sure you haven't.
01:21:01
Speaker
You are not the reading type. I disagree to disagree, but I'll lead the way because I've definitely been here before. Let's go.

Maze of Decisions

01:21:11
Speaker
Amazing. So a yeah we head on in. A faint splash echoes through the spire. Then another. There's pools of water as Bortz powers through.
01:21:24
Speaker
And Bortz, what you quickly realize is that as you walk in there's a sense of faint light that seems to twinkle through some of these. It's almost glass-like in terms of how smooth these these entrances are. Five feet wide.
01:21:39
Speaker
let's just go seven feet wide just to give you a but chance to go through. God damn it, Port, you're stuck again. Loop me up. No, i ah you're um you're there and moving through, but one abreast, basically, one at one at a time.
01:21:52
Speaker
or one, one bought breast at time. ah and what you notice is that the corridor seemed to go on for a long, but then seemed to bend off one way. And as you can, trundling down, as you look down for a second, you look back up, it seems to now be bending in the other direction.
01:22:07
Speaker
Trundle a bit. And as you're watching it, seems to almost bend down as the corridor seems to shift and move. And you come to the first intersection. There's three choices left straight ahead or right. Which way would you like to take?
01:22:18
Speaker
Oh, just like i remembered it. um And he's going to scratch the top of his head as he looks at the three different directions. Have you stopped? just little Yeah, just as he's looking, just going to quietly turn back to Brian.
01:22:35
Speaker
Have you still got that map from the Freebooters? Yeah, let me just get it out and fold it. Here we go. There it And all I'll show it and point out. You've got a little bit writing down here. R-L-R-R-L. What do you reckon that might mean?
01:22:58
Speaker
Well, I don't know if I'm right about this, and I don't want to have anyone All right, we'll go then, and Dan Bortz is going to set up right.
01:23:09
Speaker
ah and Yeah, I'll just say, okay, okay i I believe in Bortz at this stage. i think i think he's got the I think he's correct. Let's go that way. I believe in Bortz. It was this way.
01:23:24
Speaker
Lovely. um So am I right in thinking that we're treating the letters on the map as directions through this early part of the Spire? so then Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
01:23:36
Speaker
Okay. So you continue heading down. we're goingnna this This early period builds towards another skill challenge, but we'll just run this bit first. so because I know Bortz, you might be doing something different here. You come to another intersection, same choice, left, straight to ahead, right. What do you want to do?
01:23:50
Speaker
this Sorry, just to say, you've walked for probably about two or three minutes in a straight line, if you think a straight line, and then you reach another intersection. You see nothing else but just glass corridor this entire time.
01:24:03
Speaker
Yeah, just how I remembered it. Neil scratches his head. And as Bort starts to stop, I'm just going to kind of pull the map out again, just do a quick read, ah look behind and keep up, Brian. Nobody gets left behind. Yeah, it's probably this way, actually. And he's going to take off to the left.
01:24:28
Speaker
Brilliant. And again, longer time this time. it it takes a good six, seven minutes before you reach yet another intersection. Here you've got, again, three choices left, right, or straight ahead.
01:24:43
Speaker
Yeah, it's not changed today, this, really. It's just just how I left it last time. Oh, ah right. He's going to turn left and start walking.
01:24:54
Speaker
And then stop and go, what did I say? yeah yeah you said You said right, and that's left. So maybe right is right, and left is wrong?
01:25:07
Speaker
Yeah, I think you're right. Yep. He did say right. He did say right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He did. I heard it. i I heard it. I heard it. Right. You are right. Yeah. No, I remember it now. He's going to head right. I'm not going to make you do the last two because otherwise it's, yeah. No, it's the same thing over and over. Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be the same jokes now. I gave you three. I gave you three to work through. It's the rule of threes.
01:25:28
Speaker
Comedy works in threes. Absolutely. You know that. Lovely. And that continues for the next two right and lefts um as you keep going. and That's all you had. But after your fifth turning, you walk for what again feels like five or six minutes and you come to another left straight ahead or right.
01:25:46
Speaker
Now, at this point, well, you can do what you like. One of the options is we run it as another mini skill challenge to see if you can continue without it. Unless there's anything you've got or that you want to do or use in order to see if you can figure out the remainder to get through this maze, this labyrinthine part of the spire.
01:26:08
Speaker
So imagine, Bort, you stop again. Right, yeah, just so Yeah, and done look, navigating further than this, I have no idea.
01:26:20
Speaker
i can put full trust in you, Bort. i'm I'm sure you can lead the way.
01:26:28
Speaker
I can, because I remember it quite well, actually. Brian... I know you've never been down here. It's kind like my second home, really. um In those things, what have pictures and words in them?
01:26:46
Speaker
Any words or pictures remind you of my home?
01:26:52
Speaker
There are, obviously, lots of books with passageways and lefts and rights and straights on. Right, left is then. Let's go.
01:27:03
Speaker
you're going left oh yes okie dokie uh huh ok um so you keep going down and again two three minutes pass left straight ahead right
01:27:20
Speaker
you can use skills right i'm going right so going right I really don't think this is a good idea anymore, Brian. that' Someone stops me. with we we need we need We need to, yeah, just as you kind of go, it's like, no, no, wait, wait, wait, wait. We need to stop did just for a moment.
01:27:37
Speaker
ahboard I need you to look me in the eyes. for a second, and I'm looking up at you still, kind of pull down your dragonborn jaw a little bit. Yeah, don't don't do that. And also, he' you've been saying my name wrong like the last three days. Sorry. Yeah. Besides, sorry, I should have thought plural, not singular. I get it. i ah Sorry.
01:28:00
Speaker
um But, yeah, are you how sure are you as to where you're actually going? You know You've done really well. I think you took us through the first, you know, four, five steps.
01:28:14
Speaker
ah Perfect. You've known exactly where we needed to go according to this map. But from then on, we don't really know. mean, come on, nobody's been in here for years, have they? Well, I obviously have. You've been this far.
01:28:27
Speaker
This tunnel in particular, we usually sent the servants down, and I just told them what I wanted. Yeah, well, you're not a servant, are you? you know you would You wouldn't bother with pathways like this. You know you would get taken to your destination.
01:28:40
Speaker
Well, yeah, exactlyly exactly. Exactly. so Exactly. yeah And obviously you being one of the large carriages have got curtains just so the the common folk can't gaze upon you. Am I right? Am I right so far?
01:28:51
Speaker
That's pretty much exactly what my childhood was. Yes, and he pulls at the slave collar around his neck and loosens it a little bit. Just like that. That's right. I understand completely. So but because you were so well looked after and obviously you wouldn't make time with slaves, you know, it's one of those things you might not know from this point and exactly with one hundred percent kind of confidence where to go. think I know what you're getting at here. Yeah, that's right. And he'll sit down and go, ah suppose my servants might as well lead the way I'll await my carriage.
01:29:31
Speaker
gonna look to Brian for like but on the word carriage it's like I hope you've got something for that um i wouldn't like i would but I don't know what check this actually would be, ah but I'm going to just have a quick look-see down all three routes, just maybe eight to ten feet, and just see if any of them... Obviously, this used to be a very active type of place, so there would have been a lot of tread work from people who knew where they were going through this, and that would have created probably a slight kind of...
01:30:06
Speaker
ah recess into the groundwork and then with the water obviously sitting onto it as well that might potentially made it a little bit deeper with uh just standard kind of erosion and things like that i'm seeing as anything like that like a a slight tread path like you walk through grass yeah and you could always tell the route people go because the grass has died underneath like that but stonework assuming it's got some high traffic kind of wear and tear from people walking over it. That's what you're looking for. yeah And the route that has the highest wear and tear you would assume would take you to or from and important destination.
01:30:38
Speaker
ah Exactly. Cool. Perception? I can do perception. So I can do it. You've also got, remember, you've got heroic inspiration because you are a human. Remember that. i I have marked it off. And yes, based off that roll and how important this, I think that is where I'm going to use it. Okay. um Because I rolled a four, so I'm going to mark off my heroic inspiration for that.
01:30:57
Speaker
Come on, better than a four. 17. Okay, nice. Better than a four. That is slightly better than a four. You notice that actually um the left track seems to have indentation, slight indentation. The water pools more in the central portion of it and is slightly more worn than the other two routes, which seem a bit more pristine in relation to that one.
01:31:25
Speaker
And I'm just going to kind of turn around to Bort and Brian. and and So I've i've had um ah a very quick look. And in all fairness, I think there may have been um a kitchen down this way. I'm smelling like just a little bit of ah food, you know. So I think we should go this way. And I'm going to point to the left.
01:31:47
Speaker
Can you give me a deception check, please?
01:31:51
Speaker
Ten. Ten.
01:31:55
Speaker
uh yeah okay you say that you say the words what's your wisdom your passive wisdom aborts uh my passive insight is a 10 yeah ah oh damn it okay you think there isn't a kitchen But you believe him that he's talking, he's speaking the truth in terms of the direction, but he's there's doing something he's doing something else here. It's not about kitchen.
01:32:29
Speaker
You're yanking my chain, aren't you? The kitchen's somewhere else. What are you hiding down there? Get out the way. He'll push you to one side another, charging down that roof.
01:32:42
Speaker
Okay, nice. oh Again, five, ah ten minutes go past. um Again, you you feel getting deeper into this place. Almost like on an airplane, you feel the pressure in your ears as you ascend. This feels the opposite. You're descending.
01:32:55
Speaker
And you can feel that pressure nonetheless, though. An oppressive silence as well. ah Left, straight ahead, right, yet again. What do you do?
01:33:06
Speaker
This is forming part of a skill challenge, by the way. I'm tallying off successes and failures just as we go through this. Okay. What would you like to
01:33:16
Speaker
I'll also chalk off the that, I'm sorry, the um Blake's already done something, so you can't do something for this one, Blake. and You can't just keep doing perception. I was already thinking about what else can I do? What else can I do? Bortz is going to turn around and go, you were hiding more bloody passageways. Where's the treasure? Where's the treasure?
01:33:39
Speaker
i I don't know. I'm sorry. i don't know. That's why we're here. We need to find it. You, Brian Blasto's, find the treasure.
01:33:53
Speaker
Can I intimidate him into making the choice? I'll give a good Intimidate him into doing something. Come on, you bastard.
01:34:03
Speaker
There's water on the ground all all over here, isn't there? Yeah, there is. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. um I'd like to slip off my my shoes and i um want to like dip my toes into the to of water leading into each passageway to see if I can feel any like difference in the temperature, the flow, anything like that. that might I would think if something's feeling a bit warmer, a bit of a faster flow, that's going to be the way that I um i want to go.
01:34:35
Speaker
Okay, so topography, that's what we're going for. Topography. Halflings of Aerith, it's canon. yeah yeah
01:34:47
Speaker
Metaphorically, I'm physically dipping their toe in everything. Okay, yeah, give me a... What do you want that

Entering the Chamber of Secrets

01:34:52
Speaker
to be? Perception? Nature? i think perception... then
01:35:02
Speaker
which 18. Very good. Yeah. You notice that to the right, and the the water is moving away from you. So ah ah down the corridor, away from you at pace. The other two are stagnantly still water, just sitting in dripped pile puddles, whereas this one is moving.
01:35:21
Speaker
ah seems to obviously aim further downhill slightly. That's what you notice.
01:35:26
Speaker
are you writing this way, lads? It's leading downhill. It's tickling my tootsies.
01:35:34
Speaker
all right, so we're heading we're heading right. Yeah, I would trust in Brian. Yeah, I'm um um'm following at the back now. Okay, right. So Brian's in the lead, followed by ah Blake, followed by Bortz at the back. We come to another intersection.
01:35:52
Speaker
And Bortz, I'm going to look to you here, unfortunately. What would you like to do? Despite being at the back and having your oh your kitchen dreams. Yeah.
01:36:03
Speaker
Not to you, Welch, to Borts. Sorry, I'm looking to Borts. No, no, no, that's fine. I'm looking down my list of skills and trying to choose one that doesn't have a minus one to it. um Or a minus two, for that matter. Not intimidation.
01:36:15
Speaker
There's what was not a lot going on. WWBD, what would Borts do? What would Bortz do? Well, Bortz... That would work for any one of us. Bortz is not the smartest peanut in the turd, as one might have worked out by now. ah ah But what he does know is he knows what other people are doing. He's cottoned on. He knows exactly what's going on here.
01:36:37
Speaker
So he is going to go up to each tunnel, push the guys out of the way, go up to each tunnel, look down at the water, probably try to bend down but not quite get far enough to to dip his finger into it but kind of...
01:36:48
Speaker
Give it a sniff and go, yes, to do with the water, ain't it, Tom? And I'd like to make a survival check to do the similar kind of thing to lowar those guys are done, basically. See if I can find the trail based on the water.
01:37:05
Speaker
It's a skill that I have that isn't a minus. Come on. Would you allow it? do we get If you allow it, it's a 19. Yeah, yeah, I'll go for it Yeah, i like it. It's obviously fine, 19.
01:37:16
Speaker
Absolutely. Okie dokie. There's one more. this can be any of you, the last one, well, this one, what you don't know it's the last one, but it's the last one on the skill challenge, at least.
01:37:28
Speaker
There's five. um Yeah. you Sorry, you you notice that the right-hand water, again, is the one that seems to be flowing. It flows straight over that junction. It keeps going on.
01:37:38
Speaker
um So you're heading down towards that right direction. Again, you approach another one, but this time you can hear from kind of all directions um an echo from Like the space opens up somewhere.
01:37:54
Speaker
You're not sure which of the three it comes from, but you notice that the sense of a larger space impending nearby. ah It's open to all three of you. the last one of the check, you're currently on one failure and three passes. What would you like to do? Can't use the same kind of thing you've done before.
01:38:13
Speaker
might have a plan here, and it's a pretty genius plan. I'm listening. Well, listen harder.
01:38:26
Speaker
Okay. I'm going to really focus and get close. I'm going to take the Warhammer edge and crack it against the wall of one of the paths to have like the the the kind of the echo...
01:38:39
Speaker
kind of smash down one of the paths, basically. All right, give me a roll to hit, please. Hit the wall. Hit the wall with the war hammer. I'm giving an AC just in case. Can I do this reckless?
01:38:51
Speaker
If I'm a... Do I have to be raging for reckless? I don't know if I do do i I think you do. Yeah. ah It'll be in features, won't it? As a reckless attack. I don't play barbarians, although now I kind of want to. When you make your first attack or on your turn, you can decide to. Yeah. So you don't have to, don't have to be raging result.
01:39:09
Speaker
ah So yes, definitely. He's going to want to try and and he's fucked it. It's 11. I know, mean, the AC was six. It is a fucking wall. It's not going anywhere. It's just in case. I love it, you miss this brick wall.
01:39:20
Speaker
at Glass wall. um Yeah, you ask absolutely pile into this wall. I only roll damage because it's not the damage you're looking for here. It cracks along the wall and you hear this big, like so massive slap of energy and power pummel down one of the corridors. are you listening for?
01:39:40
Speaker
Well, I'm not listening for anything, really. You're Why are you talking to me, Bortz? but I don't believe in force, Bortz. Again, Bortz talks to the DM.
01:39:53
Speaker
Bortz genius is traversing dimensions right now. Others are just looking at him like, what the fuck are you talking to, man? um ah right Am i right in thinking, though, between the genius that you're looking to allow sound to slap down, travel through your echolocation?
01:40:09
Speaker
that what you're doing? Is that what he's doing? umm I'm hitting a wall pretty hard. Did it work? Did it work? He'll turn round to Brian and to Blake.
01:40:20
Speaker
Have I worked it out? Is it done? You've hit the wall.
01:40:29
Speaker
It must be this way then.
01:40:33
Speaker
ah Can I do... Which way did you hit? have passive 15. Well, I'm right-handed, so it'd be easier to probably line it up and hit the one on the left. Okay.
01:40:48
Speaker
So you hit the one left. What was that? There's a big echo. i'm um I'm looking at you mainly here, Blake, as someone who talked about listening. And I thought we were on a level.
01:40:58
Speaker
I thought that you were saying, yeah, I've got good ears. And I was like, right, well, listen to this. And my plan was for me to hit it really hard. And then you'd hear it someone saying this is the right way. And you've got good ears.
01:41:11
Speaker
like but When you said listen to this, I was expecting words. Not... yeah that um and you know um property damage that kind of thing not what i was expecting uh i hear for it though okay um ah well let me just twat it again hold on okay i but i'm gonna really i'm gonna really really listen now just do it on the other side we don't want this place coming down yeah brian you might as well listen as well because i think there's not a lot going on in this person's uh if you know what mean It's difficult being the brains of the operation It has taken its toll on you I can tell 21 to hit, he'll do exactly the same thing This time, hopefully, for someone to work it out for him Which side are you doing it on? Where you it? Forward, left, right?
01:42:05
Speaker
ah He'll see that he's kind of cracked the wall on one side So he'll go to the middle and whack the middle one Okay, and your ah other two you're listening for the echo, is that right?
01:42:17
Speaker
Yep. Okay. I'll pass it to 15 if need to roll against it. Yeah, we'll roll out anyway then. um It does hit. You beat the AC of the wall. If you want to both roll for it, and we'll see how we got on. So, ah but but Brian, what did you get?
01:42:34
Speaker
18. 18, nice. And Blake...
01:42:40
Speaker
With that, you also hear... it's a special kind of echo you get from the left. It's a large chamber with water.
01:42:52
Speaker
With water, you get that sense and you hear, because you hear, because of the smash of them of the Warhammer, rock forms or stone or something dropping into water.
01:43:05
Speaker
It sounds like deep water. So that's where you get the sense of there being water and it being a large space to the left.
01:43:14
Speaker
Okay, so did it did anybody able say that? and anybody else Sorry, brian Brian also did. No, Brian would have heard bloop. You would have heard left would also be the echo way.
01:43:26
Speaker
ah sounded a bit echoey left to me. I don't know if you heard anything else down there with your special hearing or whatever. I heard a bloop. Oh, a bloop, eh? A bloop.
01:43:37
Speaker
There was something in there. They hit water and it made a bloop. Was it an expensive bloop? Is it the treasure? I don't think it's an expensive bloop. cheap blue i wouldn't maybe a cheap blue um do you know we're just gonna troubleshoot this a little bit um uh but we need if you've got ah enough in you can we try a different route and just see if the noise is different on that one well you want me to twat this side now i yeah let's let's go for the let's go for the right why don't let's try the right right let's go right then
01:44:11
Speaker
And he'll start walking down the tunnel to the... No, no, no, no, no. no no you Hit the wall. Hit the wall on the right. Sorry. yeah I clearly wasn't clear enough there, Borts. No, never mind. Here we go.
01:44:22
Speaker
And he'll do it again. right-hand side. And let's get location with the war hammer. Yeah. It's a 17, he's doing it with an advantage, so 25.
01:44:34
Speaker
yeahp yeah it's And again, you both of you hear the echo or Mickey Rolfrit from the left as well. the The other two ways seem to, the sound is deadened, especially down to the right where Bortz hit the wall.
01:44:49
Speaker
Okay, so the one that I'm picking up that stands out is, yeah, the the left one. the one The one you were heading down first, Bortz, the left one. but I could have told you that. Let's go. Oh, yes. Yes.
01:45:03
Speaker
Bortz is leading the way. So heading down to the left. and Could you give me a perception check, please, Bortz?
01:45:13
Speaker
I don't think he'd actually be trying Your eyes and ears would be open. Whether or not you care about what you come across is different. That's right. it's ah It's a nine with a passive of ten. okay now yeah Okay, so you take ah five or six steps and you hear a click at your feet, at your claw feet, and then suddenly 10 feet ahead of you, this massive stone door shuts in front of you.
01:45:36
Speaker
i Upon it, instantly, it starts to glow. Bits of it start to glow, and there's a series of glyphs of shapes that um Brian, you recognise as being of a similar age to the spirals outside.
01:45:49
Speaker
And they are set out... kind of three by three by three, well, that makes a cube, but like a three across, three down, nine in total. But they kind of shift as you look at them.
01:46:02
Speaker
They're all slight deviations of the same spiruletic, going to use it now, spiruletic effect that you've seen outside. Sometimes the spirals go in the opposite direction, sometimes more jagged, sometimes it's kind of geometric, sometimes it's very fluid and floral almost.
01:46:17
Speaker
But they twist in these unnatural ways as a hum filling the air, growing louder for boards, especially at the front. seems to be some... um Yeah.
01:46:28
Speaker
Brian, again, you would recognize what's happened here as a safety mechanism. Something is kicked in that requires a password. Very normal, very expected in these kind of places. Surprised, actually, that it hasn't happened earlier. And actually very lucky that the route you took hasn't...
01:46:46
Speaker
You managed to avoid everything I've put in in in in in this so far, which is it's really quite impressive. The route you've taken has been... Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. So, except for this one. So, yes, you've got this thing in front of you and you feel bored, especially at the front.
01:47:04
Speaker
You wouldn't know it as electric energy, um like that of being... You know, like, le one of those really fucking big... ah I don't know, like... I don't know anything about energy, but the thing that makes the energy go from uncontrollable Hertz all the way down to like little wattage that you have. I don't know. I'm fucking here into your plugs. Yeah. You go know, you know yeah Fucking out Optimus prime is in there. No, the, um, just the hum of like fucking pure energy. And you just feels like the air is vibrating from it. Like if you touch it, will fuck you up.
01:47:34
Speaker
Um, It's that kind of feel of energy, but whether or not you care about it, it's up to you. But there's this sense of tension and and kind of danger in in the in the air as you approach this thing.
01:47:45
Speaker
It's a puzzle. ah The question is, can you figure it out?
01:47:52
Speaker
but the shit But the glyphs keep changing.
01:47:56
Speaker
I know what Bortz is going to try to do, but I'm going to wait for someone to stop me or to... problem Yeah, I'm literally going to get it. As soon as Bortz starts to move forward, it's like, Bortz, wait. No, put the hammer down. Put the hammer down. I wasn't going to use me hammer. was just going to try and lift it up a bit because it's b blocked away, innit?
01:48:14
Speaker
oh Oh, oh, oh, yeah, okay. Yeah, give that a go. Why not? All right. Yeah, I'm going to try and get fingers underneath. No, no, no, no, no. no no no What? I don't know what that thing means.
01:48:26
Speaker
Well, I don't know what it means, but i I don't reckon it's going to be no lifting that takes this. It's going take a little bit of cunning, little bit of thinking, perhaps.
01:48:37
Speaker
Right. Okay. That's the first step to solving the puzzle, is realizing that there is a puzzle to solve. So, tick that off. So we know we need to think about the puzzle.
01:48:49
Speaker
Do we know what thinking we need to think about for the puzzle? Well, that's stage two, so let's begin. and
01:49:00
Speaker
ah Open door. I'll say at the door. All right, I'll give it a go. No, no, no, no, no. Like he was talking to the wall there.
01:49:12
Speaker
No, Boris is touching it. Okay, you touch it. it's It's slightly vibrating, but it doesn't hurt you. And you can just about get a claw underneath.
01:49:24
Speaker
Right. I might be able to... Oh, give it a go. I don't usually do this kind of lifting. It's a bit beneath me.
01:49:35
Speaker
But are you going to tell me to do more stuff or are you going to solve puzzles, puzzle boy? Well, actually, I'd quite like to see how this plays out now that it's ended in disaster.
01:49:48
Speaker
All right. I want to heave up. All right. ah This is going to be strength, isn't it?
01:49:57
Speaker
athletics if you want because I'm no longer raging uh so it's a whatever the first roll of that was it's 23 Brian's gonna be poised to sort of Indiana Jones under it if it only goes up a little bit he's ready to sort of dive just underneath the listeners point of view as well Marcus just put his head into his hands with a deep sigh I um I've written a couple of numbers for you guys i don't know if you can see at the very top there ace and DC 23.
01:50:30
Speaker
And, um what meets beats, um, you are putting all your chunky boy legs into this, your back, your, um, this is the full on deadlift. This is a PB. If ever I've seen one and the door does not want to shift. And then it does, and then it does a bit more and then it does enough for a halfling to slide under Brian. Did you say you wanted you were in the Emma Jones thing as soon as you could?
01:50:57
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. so You slide underneath it. and Are you continuing to lift? how ah How high are you lifting this thing? you going all the way or are you going high enough to get the others through? are you doing with it?
01:51:08
Speaker
He's not thinking of this in like, a this will be just enough to get through. he is He's just lifting. that the The idea is to lift. So he's lifting and lifting and lifting until he can't lift anymore. Okay. going to put a slight aperitif in this. So you can get it up to your kind of chest height with your lift because the size of this door.
01:51:27
Speaker
And because I know that then to lift, it's like another movement to get it above. It's an Olympic lift. You've done the clean part. You got the jerk to go. um You've done the first bit, which is high enough also, if you wanted to, ah to let your monk friend, shit, I've forgotten your name, ah Blake, go through as well, if you'd like to.
01:51:47
Speaker
it's high enough now for Blake to get under as well. Yep. If there's enough room for Blake, I'm sliding underneath it as well. Still not high enough, though, for boards. and Could you give me another... another, and athletics check, please. I will change the DC because everyone knows that the jerk is easier than the clean, especially once you've got it moving.

Facing Inner Demons

01:52:05
Speaker
So I'm just,
01:52:08
Speaker
everyone does know the jerk is easier. Yeah. Uh, it's a 23. yeah Yeah. Okay, cool. Yeah. No problem. Um, Fucking hell, you guys are rolling so well.
01:52:20
Speaker
ah Yes, I've said it 20. I thought maybe, nah, not a chance. or get Anyway, cool. Okay, let's go you manage to hoof it and get your massive head and snout over the the the you two, three foot thick, solid stone door.
01:52:37
Speaker
And as it rests on your other shoulder, just as it drops down, it slams shut again. As you stand there take a deep breath, Bortz, you just hear this... And this energy powers into your back as the spell the um trap that was built into this thing fires both directions.
01:52:58
Speaker
um And you're going to get hit with some damage. Jet 2.
01:53:06
Speaker
D6 force damage. Oh, nice. Almost maxed 11 points of force damage. And you are fired forward 10 feet as well.
01:53:17
Speaker
like so Wow. Brilliant. He'll kind of dust himself off and go, I'm pretty good at puzzles, actually. They're... Brian, I didn't know I was before, but turns out I can do him pretty well.
01:53:32
Speaker
He taps his head like as a kind of brainy meme. with Very good, very good. So that's one way to solve it. You notice now as you look around, the corridor goes forward again, another 10, 15 feet from where you currently stand. It opens up slightly.
01:53:50
Speaker
You can stand side by side almost at this point. And then finally, you step into a um quite a vast shadowed chamber where the air hangs heavy and true to form.
01:54:04
Speaker
i You do notice, Blake, that there is a large body of water and off and to the north from where you currently stand. Dominating the centre, though, is this a rather large altar, stone altar, that sits right on the water's edge, facing the water from your current location.
01:54:23
Speaker
Its surface carved with more of the same spiralling glyphs that seem to have been etched into the stone itself. Stone from which does not has not been found naturally here. This is stalagmites and stalactites. This is untouched cave underneath the spire itself.
01:54:41
Speaker
But it It still pulses with a dim light. Atop the altar sits a black box. Beyond it lies what seems like an infinite sea, a lake of still water, unbroken, unrippling now.
01:54:58
Speaker
Nothing breaks the glass-like water, save one thing. A tower. within the tower, a spire within the spire. Yet this one is not of black.
01:55:09
Speaker
This is of pure white rock, which stands sentinel over the space.
01:55:18
Speaker
What would you like to do?
01:55:22
Speaker
Blake's going to around.
01:55:25
Speaker
Okay. Not what I was expecting. What you think, Brian? Another puzzle we've got here? Well, it's not one of your classic puzzles, that's for sure, but it could be one of them obscure puzzles. ah i mean you know So a puzzle that requires thinking harder?
01:55:44
Speaker
Yeah, it requires double thinking, maybe lifting and thinking at the same time. Right, okay, fair Question, are my toes still tingling, Brian? Well, they should tingle for about an hour from the first time that they felt tingly.
01:56:00
Speaker
You've still got about 20 minutes left. So reckon. Yeah. Yep. Me and you, we've we're tingly toe brothers right now. Right, so we should all be able to walk on the water. Brilliant. And Bortz is going to roll his sleeves that He's not wearing sleeves, but you just see him brush his sleeves up with each arm.
01:56:21
Speaker
And he's going to walk towards the water. Hold on, Bortz. Wait, wait, wait. Have you already gone into the water? It's a bit of a walk to get there. It's a good kind of 60, 70 feet before you get there from where you currently are.
01:56:36
Speaker
Oh yeah, he's not in a rush. He'll pause. The space does open into the middle slightly. There's a like kind of a larger area. There's a couple of narrow, natural kind of cave formations off to each of the sides.
01:56:47
Speaker
and But you're in a slightly larger middle area, probably about 30 feet wide with a couple of stalagmites and tights hanging around. and And then this altar on the edge and then the water beyond it to the north as well. You do notice a couple of other items around. There seems to be a ah some kind of box, wooden box, tattered old wooden box to the side of this altar that seems to be half opened as well. and A book that rests on the corner of the altar.
01:57:12
Speaker
as well which has a layer of dust on it we do notice is that the altar itself uh uh blake you'd notice this the altar itself has no dust on it yet the book sitting on the altar does have dust upon it the black box that sits in the center of the altar on the tab of paper a tab of of red that adorns the center of this also does not have dust on it no um just on quick glance of that But you don't want to get your moss wet, do you?
01:57:40
Speaker
And you don't want to get that nice new shiny weapon you got wet either. You know, don't want it to rust. Just wait a second and me and Brian are going to go over. Look, there's a book for him to read there.
01:57:54
Speaker
So we can go and read the book. It's very unusual. You know, there's like... dust on the book and everything else in here is very very clean it's been hard considering this place was filled with water so I think that's a puzzle that Brian can try and figure out um and i'm I'm just going to go with him because you know he he's not as good as looking after himself as what you are so can you can you just wait here one second Yeah, I didn't realise you knew that I found a shiny new sword.
01:58:21
Speaker
um i like I caught a glimpse of it, but it looks nice on you, looks good on you. that's good on you I was hoping you wouldn't tell Isilda, because we only get like a little bit of what we find here, and I thought, well, if it looks like my old one, then she won't realise.
01:58:36
Speaker
Hey, this is all between me and you, okay? no Nobody needs to know anything. consider that consider a thank you for, obviously, all the stuff out there. You could you did really well, you know?
01:58:47
Speaker
Well, yeah, did, didn't actually? All right, you go read your books and do your puzzles. I'll be here. Here's a ration. Do you like a ration? I've got some rations from and from the Freebooters as well. You may as well have one of the rations just while we while we're away for a couple of minutes.
01:59:04
Speaker
Or the surge provides. And he'll just chow down. Yeah. All right, so i am thats good Brian and and ah Blake, you're off looking at items, is that right?
01:59:18
Speaker
Yeah, kind of making our way to the altar with the book and the boxes. And Bort's, you're eating? Yeah, he's sat himself down now. Like his hands are probably bigger than whatever ration he's been given. is But he's he's kind of delicately, yeah, delicately like unwrapping and like fingernails of his his claws. just been Amazing.
01:59:44
Speaker
i'm I'm imagining the, you know, the ah the cheetah from Zootopia or Zootropolis or whatever the film is. That's so I'm thinking now. Having the donuts. Oh, yeah. Very good. Love it. Nice. Okay. So we'll go with, we'll go with, um, brother b bri black Brian, Brian, blessed toes and Blake Bellwood for now. And then we'll return back to what bought dongle is up to with his snack.
02:00:03
Speaker
Um, in a few minutes time, the, um, uh, Brian and Blake, what would you want to have a little look at first?
02:00:14
Speaker
Well, we do like that. You did. You've got me bang on. Cause I do like a good book. You have the intelligent type. Oh, thank you very much. um I'd like to, before I touch anything, see if like there's like a title or anything but I can see of the book underneath the dust.
02:00:32
Speaker
ah Investigation check, please. If you give me just the one investigation, I'll kind of treat that as a general investigation. i use that against the DC for everything we do. if that's okay. Okay, that's 17. Okay, nice. ah You notice that it is a purposefully, it's not like it's worn off or anything.
02:00:49
Speaker
There just isn't a title on this book. You also notice that it's out place. and This isn't, doesn't feel like the same age. This feels much more modern, this book in comparison. The binding, the paper, you can see from the outside of it.
02:01:01
Speaker
It looks like a a more up-to-date book, maybe from the last 50 years or so, not thousands of years ago. Okay.
02:01:14
Speaker
oh I'll carefully just with like finger index finger and thumb open up that first page. Okay.
02:01:25
Speaker
And there is, it's almost blank. It's almost blank, save for a single line um that is adorned, scrawled across the middle top half of the page. And it just says, we should not have come here. The voices, they are not the past.
02:01:43
Speaker
They are waiting for us to listen. If you find this, turn back before you hear it too. What's so funny over there?
02:01:58
Speaker
Nothing's funny. You just wait there and we're not laughing. Are you laughing at the way that I'm eating this? No.
02:02:09
Speaker
No, why would we? It's graceful. It's dignified.
02:02:15
Speaker
You best not be taking the piss. No, no, never. what Wouldn't dream of it.
02:02:24
Speaker
What was this going to go back to eating? No.
02:02:29
Speaker
ah The other pages beneath it are rotten. As you turn over, if there was anything there, it's long covered in moss and mildew from the moisture in the air and would be illegible to read.
02:02:46
Speaker
ah Anything from it, Brian? Any ideas? It's little bit spooky. It's talking about voices and shouldn't have come here and all of this. Yeah. Look, if there's treasure at the end of this, I don't care what the voices are telling me.
02:03:02
Speaker
ah yeah um Have you heard any voices? No, no, although...
02:03:10
Speaker
was so bloody funny? Hey, hey, Bortz, are you hearing laughter?
02:03:22
Speaker
Only because you're bloody laughing at me. Now stop it or I'll rip your storming tongue from your storming mouth. just going buy I think Bortz is hearing laughter.
02:03:38
Speaker
That ain't good. He they mentioned something earlier as well. but but He said his ears were facing forward, but I wasn't saying anything. I think Bortz has been hearing voices all this time.
02:03:52
Speaker
Oh my God. What does he say about the voices? He's the key. he He might be the key to this whole treasure thing if he's the one hearing the voices. ah Well, i I think he is.
02:04:05
Speaker
um I also think it might be a wise idea. You know, I'm just going to quickly have a look at this, but one of us needs to be back over there before he thinks we're laughing at him and he starts pulling out the warhammer. I don't want to be on the receiving end of that.
02:04:19
Speaker
I can dash back over there and and calm him down if you want to Yeah, just keep him company for a bit. I'm just going to look at this and I'm just going to kind of cradle my hands around this black box that's on the altar. I'm just going to carefully touch the sides of it and just see if anything happens.
02:04:37
Speaker
Nothing happens as you touch Slight pause. and I'm to try and quickly rapidly lift it up. This is like replicating Indiana Jones type of thing, but I've got nothing to put down to replace it at this stage.
02:04:47
Speaker
It doesn't think that far ahead. Underneath it, there's nothing beneath it.
02:04:57
Speaker
Oh, well, that's anticlimactic. It's a sealed box. You lift the box up. Were you taking the lid off? was that what were aiming for? were you lifting Oh, no, I was trying to lift the whole thing off the altar to begin with. Yeah, the whole thing's off the altar. There's nothing underneath the the box. You have the box in your hand. It feels weighty.
02:05:11
Speaker
Cool. I'm going to take it to easy and shake it a bit.
02:05:17
Speaker
You hear you hear ah what sounds like padded. It's padded. Something's moving around and it's padded. There's a couple of things moving around in there. You're a clink and thud and a jostle.
02:05:30
Speaker
and there and he' ah Is there a very obvious way to open this? No. No latch or anything like that? No, there's no lock. There's no there's no keyhole. There's there's nothing like that. All right.
02:05:43
Speaker
Hey, Borts, I've got something you for you to smash open.
02:05:48
Speaker
Oh, I bet that'd be really funny, wouldn't it? Yeah, let's all laugh at Bortz. Let's get Bortz to smash things and laugh at him.
02:05:58
Speaker
Well, it's not going to work. Bortz, we're not laughing. This book that you know Brian has read, says something about hearing voices.
02:06:10
Speaker
But people who hear voices are very special. Oh, right. So it's funny jokes. Funny jokes in the book, is it? Let's see how funny these jokes are, shall we? Eaton Bors is going to start walking towards the group.
02:06:22
Speaker
Let me see. Funny jokes, is it? It better be pictures because I don't know what the bloody words say. He's going to grab the book and look. It's just writing across the front page, as i mentioned earlier. Every other page is just mildew and mould and nothing.
02:06:39
Speaker
He's just going to like take it ah so that he's facing a away, not away from them, but take it so the book's between him and them. and you're going to see his eyes looking down at it and just pause for a second. And they kind of look from right to left.
02:06:52
Speaker
Oh, yeah, i'll get it as well. ah I understood it too. Yeah, it's a good one. And he gives it back over to Brian and then kind of storms his way forwards once more to to Blake that's kind of called him over.
02:07:10
Speaker
I can understand it just as well as you can.

Battle with the Tidewaker

02:07:14
Speaker
knew you would. I knew you would. I was going to try and claim it as my own later on, you know, my own little clever joke, but obviously, you know, you're still too smart for me to try and get away with that.
02:07:29
Speaker
What's that then? What are you going to your hands? It's a box. Just a black box. Something inside it. could be treasure, but I can't open this. So I need your mighty strength.
02:07:42
Speaker
Oh, well, you only had to ask. I'm going to put this down and they're going to step away. and I'm going go to put on down and step as far away against the wall as what I can do.
02:07:54
Speaker
Mark, I would like to yellow pages this thing. Can I try to the yellow pages this thing? yeah Absolutely. You're going to try and tear in half. yeah Yeah. Okay, you can. And as you pick it up, your your heritage board actually feeds into some history historical information you might know about the material this is made out of. It's made from obsidian. Ooh.
02:08:20
Speaker
a incredibly dark, incredibly ah rare in these parts material. You don't know what it's used for. Smart people used them for things. You know, it's pretty sturdy.
02:08:32
Speaker
um And sometimes people make armor out of it. Cool. with With that, instead, like he's going to go to kind of snap it or bend it, and he's going to kind of realize that, recognize that, and just say...
02:08:47
Speaker
Oh, I think this might be a bit of treasure there. Blake, we got some treasure.
02:08:56
Speaker
we need some more. mean, that's only a little bit. There's got to be more here, surely. Yeah, this is Sidian. It's a type of material um that the Obs used to have that makes it really hard and... and and ah Yeah, it's got all the fancy types of it.
02:09:15
Speaker
Oh, the box is treasure. Not what's inside it? Well, don't know what's inside. I didn't break it because thought it was treasure. ah okay. Okay, so the box has got a mile. Okay, that's something.
02:09:29
Speaker
Does it have a ah seam mark or is it like fully... and like Can you tell it's a box or does it just feel like a kind of a cube of obsidian? Give me an investigation and check.
02:09:43
Speaker
Because you might know, Will, but Bortz doesn't. 14? That's not bad. but Okay, yeah, that's not bad. um yeah yeah Yeah, it's definitely a box. And you because as as you move it around, you can hear something moving within it. What do you think in here, Bort?
02:10:02
Speaker
It's a box. Yes. mean, have you got the key? I couldn't see a keyhole. Have you seen a keyhole?
02:10:13
Speaker
Have I seen a keyhole? No, you haven't seen a keyhole, Yes, right here. And he kind of points.
02:10:20
Speaker
Never mind. I used to be an expert locksmith as well. Watch this. what If you put your fingernails right into the keyhole and just... And he's going to kind of put his fingers into the seam and yellow pages it.
02:10:35
Speaker
but All right. Okay. Okay. Roll athletics. And I swear to God, Will... for something
02:10:46
Speaker
what have you written what have got 20 22 let's go 20 22 22 okay and now bear in mind i haven't i feels like a fucking ma this feels like a fucking magic trick i've written something down i have not got a pen in my hand right so here was your 23 thing yeah then i was 20 for the second one and then here was at the top there you see that 22 not a chance
02:11:11
Speaker
I swear to God, I wish this was a fucking joke. It's Darren Brown. He's come to my D&D. How, I mean, that's, that's, i mean, impressive rolling.
02:11:25
Speaker
What's your plus? Is it eight? It's a plus seven. It's a plus seven. It means you roll plus 15 multiple times for important rolls there though, Will. That's huge. It's decent. Okay. And just as you think this box isn't going to give, suddenly it just pulls apart in half. You have two halves. It's like you've torn a box of cornflakes in half and just a few items fly up into the air.
02:11:49
Speaker
They land with a clank onto the floor nearby. and One falling onto the pedestal, was going to call it. What am i trying to work for the word? The altar. Thank you, the altar. Falls onto the altar and two onto the floor. As you look at the altar, you notice this ah dagger is sat on there that seems to have a ah slightly...
02:12:15
Speaker
blue hue to it and you can see a sense of almost ice ah resting upon the hilt of the of the of the dagger. As you look down there are two other items you see and yeah another necklace um this time with a different sigil on it. It's the sigil of a large wave cresting over um a mountain behind it in the background as well.
02:12:38
Speaker
um And this has a, you if you were to touch this, it feels like a weight. Like suddenly you just start remembering, you start thinking more negatively. That's that's all I could really describe it as at the moment.
02:12:51
Speaker
And then one more thing, what looks like half of a pearl that seems to have been snapped into two. There are three items. One is on the altar.
02:13:02
Speaker
One, ah the other two, the the kind of the sigil on the and the amulet on the chain is on the floor next to this kind of half a pearl that seems to be broken.
02:13:14
Speaker
Dibs. was going to pick up the amulet. Okay. And you get this this sense of just like, oh, wait. Like, you know, like in the middle of the night when you wake up and you're like, your brain goes, hey, do you remember all these things you did when you were a little? And it was really embarrassing. It's a little bit of that, but it's, you know.
02:13:31
Speaker
ah my own anxiety. Welcome back. Yes. Ah, crippling anxiety and self-doubt. Come on in. It's a little bit of that kind of just sits you. doesn't do anything mechanically in the game, but just just there's a weight, a mental weight to holding that.
02:13:47
Speaker
I don't like this he's gonna put but What about that shiny thing there? going point towards the half of the cracked pearl. He's going pick it up. Pick up the pearl.
02:13:58
Speaker
Mind if I go for that one there and point into the dagger on the altar? You know, it's a bit small for for you to use. Might be all right for me. I've got some others down here, you know.
02:14:10
Speaker
I mean, you could use it potentially it as toothpick, I suppose. Yeah.
02:14:15
Speaker
I tell you what, i don't actually like this one, Brian, and you like to wear things around your head. You could have it. Throw in the necklace. Thank you very much. Pick up the pearl. And I'll whip on the amulet as well while he's picking up the pearl.
02:14:31
Speaker
Okay. um As you touch the pearl, Bort...
02:14:38
Speaker
Oh, sorry. The dagger is a plus one dagger. um You can use it instantaneously. And on a crit, ah you add D4 cold damage to the crit if you hit with a crit.
02:14:51
Speaker
Which, knowing you guys, you will all the time.
02:14:55
Speaker
But Bort, a cold echoing voice resonates. And you think out loud, but it's actually just in your head. And all you hear is the word alone.
02:15:08
Speaker
The chamber falls silent. The walls seem to glow, the ancient glyphs appearing upon them. They shudder, as if some unseen thing is de pressing against them from from the outside.
02:15:25
Speaker
The water, the large infinite lake that sits with this white spire, It trembles. It ripples outward, not from something moving beneath, but from something almost pulling it upwards, dragging liquid into spiraling shapes that should not hold form.
02:15:43
Speaker
Then the whispers begin. Wordless, senseless, layered over each other like voices heard through drowned lungs. A presence fills the air, crushing and vast.
02:15:57
Speaker
And then you see it. these eyes flickering in and out of existence, watching from within the water, not reflections, not illusions. These eyes are watching.
02:16:10
Speaker
The water surges up in a sudden, almost geezer-esque form, a limb ah shifting, uncertain in form. It's not flesh. It's not really liquid. it kind of drags itself free of the pool.
02:16:23
Speaker
It's not fixed. It's not rising. It's awakening. And you hear again this voice, all three of you in your heads. You should not have come.
02:16:37
Speaker
The voice does not sound. it doesn't speak. It almost presses into your thoughts, crushing like the weight of the tidal surge. The white spire groans under its own weight as the water surges again, as this grows.
02:16:54
Speaker
You've awoken the Tidewaker.
02:16:59
Speaker
That doesn't sound good.
02:17:02
Speaker
I'm starting to think this was a bad idea. Could I ask for everyone to roll initiative? We're going to get wet. We're going to get so
02:17:22
Speaker
Who did it a roll more than a 20? Okay.
02:17:27
Speaker
Technically and technically not at the same time. Did you roll 20? Natural 20, baby, but for an 18. You're a minus two to your initiative.
02:17:39
Speaker
a fucking brilliant My dex score. It doesn't make sense to have a high dex with this character. No, I agree. but still i Will bargained. Yeah, he bargained. Which is fair. ah Not anymore, actually. Did anyone get higher than an 18?
02:17:53
Speaker
No. No. No? All right. Actually, I don't know if did this, but there's four of us here, so it might well make sense. um ah Brother Brian, bless toes. What did you get? 12. 12. Blake? 12.
02:18:04
Speaker
twelve and blake I've got 16. Okay, so Blake and then... I settled in the middle of a bee sandwich. Brian.
02:18:17
Speaker
ah Yet none of you beat the Tidewalker. And ah this churning mass of water stands at about 15 feet in height, 10, 15 feet wide as water seems to almost ah cascade upwards like a reversed waterfall towards this large...
02:18:39
Speaker
face, it's not a face, but it's this churning mass of water and body. And you do notice these two blackened moments within its than its head where water is coalesced into almost ice or rock or stone or hatred or something.
02:18:54
Speaker
And it's barreling down towards you. It moves to the edge of the water away from the white spire of rock behind it and brings one, but it has our kind of humanoid form ish.
02:19:07
Speaker
Um, and one of the arms, if you will, tentacles arms, it's huge cones of water comes smashing down over its head, back down, cracking the altar in half and attempting to hit the three of you. It's going to use one of its ah very few abilities, the tidal slam.
02:19:22
Speaker
and it's a slam of water in a cone, 30 foot cone and it's going to get all three of you at this point with this one hit it's a dexterity saving throw for all three of you it is 14 to pass nice i get advantage on deck saves what don't i'm just really good but it's a minus two to my deck save so fantastic all right so uh bought what did you get for your decks 17, baby. 17. Technically 15.
02:19:55
Speaker
You pass. You're going to take half damage. um Blake? 21, baby. You pass. You're going to take half damage. And Brian? 19, baby. Baby. You're going to take half damage, baby. That's going to be two points of bludgeoning damage.
02:20:12
Speaker
That's a part of shit. um And then... i am going to deflect attack on that use as my reaction. Okay. That's that literally, I'm dodging the water.
02:20:23
Speaker
As long as any attack roll that includes bludgeoning hits you, I can reduce attack's total damage by 1d10 plus 9. Okay.
02:20:32
Speaker
Screw your damage. Borts will have a single finger up going, Oh, God, I'm not ready. Just wait a second. As he's reaching for his weapons when that hit comes in. Amazing, amazing. um That is bonus action. It has capacity to...
02:20:49
Speaker
capacity to ah Summons out of the water a barnacle revenant, which is almost half made out of seaweed and beat pieces of corpses. It's part skeletal, part um ah mossy creature of just kind of hewn together bones, stone and rock as this creature, kind of quite small humanoid shape, kind of just... kind of moves out of the water, kind of but held up almost by a burst of water that seems to resonate around its chest as it form forms up.
02:21:24
Speaker
And um it takes its turn at the same time as the Tidewalker, and it just looks up and just runs directly out of the water. 5, 10, 15, 20, 15, 30. It can get to Bortz, and it's going to take...
02:21:37
Speaker
ah its attack, which is just with some kind of like, ah it's a skeleton hand that's claw, basically. ah That is going to be a ah unnatural 20.
02:21:50
Speaker
And that is going to be nice. Okay, seven points of scratching damage, ah slashing damage. that'sing Scratching damage.
02:22:02
Speaker
ah Can you make a wisdom saving throw, please? Boop.
02:22:08
Speaker
hi I doubt it, but I'll try. It's a 14. It's a 14. Okay, passes. No problem. ah Nothing happens. That is the end of the Tidewalker's turn. bought Your turn.
02:22:22
Speaker
Oh, she wasn't ready. ah Bonus action rage. So the rage is back, baby. ah And one is the one that attacked him is to his side, isn't it?
02:22:36
Speaker
Yes. ah Which will alter what he's going to do. He will use his attack with his brand new scimitar. Scimitar. ah Scimitar. Is it a No. It's rig, rig, rig.
02:22:50
Speaker
You don't need the additional plus one, you bitch. It's fine. I'm going full reckless, obviously. ah Thankfully, because the first was a 12 to hit. The second was a 12 to hit.
02:23:03
Speaker
12. 12 hit? He got a 12. 12 hits. Amazing. but Okay, 12 hits. This is my magic veiny scimitar thing. that Terrible damage. Seven points of damage.
02:23:15
Speaker
Yep, absolutely fine. You slam into this, removing one of the arms.
02:23:20
Speaker
Amazing. With the Nick property, I'll bring in a hand axe as well for this the the kind of the the free second attack. It's a fucking 12 to hit again. um hit But the damage is ah a five points of slashing damage.
02:23:42
Speaker
yeah Yeah, slashing with the with that with an axe, I suppose, isn't it? Is it still up? Yeah, it's still up. Cool. The next attack against it gets advantage because of the Vex property on it.
02:23:55
Speaker
ah But with that, with the two hits against it, it's going to turn... it's Sorry, it hit. Bortz is going to turn his attention back to the big guy, and he's going to charge over the table towards this thing, taking an attack of opportunity.
02:24:11
Speaker
and That doesn't bother him. 17 to hit. seventeen to hit
02:24:17
Speaker
ah Seven points of ah slash slashing damage. Cool. Reduced to three, because I'm raging now. ah Awesome. And now he's in the kind of the big guy's face. how how high up is his How high up is this thing's face? ah About 14, 13 feet high.
02:24:38
Speaker
Cool. He's just going to charge up below it and say, wasn't ready. And on the on that, he's going to exhale his breath weapon. As his second attack, he's going to replace it with a breath weapon attack, which is acid.
02:24:52
Speaker
So I need a dexterity save from the bad guy, please. twelve 12. Fails. 18 points of acid damage.
02:25:05
Speaker
Very nice. Ouch. And he'll do it as he'll do it in a line instead of in a cone at this thing. He'll direct a jet towards this thing's face to kind of push through and 30 feet past that as well. You'll just see this massive line of acidy breath vomit weapon.
02:25:22
Speaker
But he's directly in front of this thing. Where I am currently on the map, am I step technically still on the table? You're on the table, yeah. Awesome. and I want to be on the table. That sounds cool. Yeah, I'll stay where I am. this and that's code of my This push push of acid goes, smashes into what you can assume is the face of this creature near the eyes.
02:25:39
Speaker
and You notice for a couple of seconds the water below is coloured by the acid itself. It seems to shake and shudder quickly and then it draws on more of the lake and the water is replaced. You do also notice Bort's that the spire behind you started to glow ever so slightly. A brilliant, but very low white light at this point.
02:26:00
Speaker
Cool. Thanks for that, bos Blake. Your turn. Bort is on a table. yeah Bort is on a table. um Did I notice the spire glowing as well? Yes, you did as well. Cools.
02:26:14
Speaker
um I'm going to try and do something that I hope ah rule of cool type of thing. So I'm just behind Borts and ah the table. What I want to do is run forward, jump on the table, and jump on the back of Borts to give me enough air to basically jump up and smack this tidal walker in the face.
02:26:39
Speaker
Let's try it. I just want to do try and do that. I am bouncing off things to get up. I am air jumping. I'm fully expected to fall flat on my face. Let's go with... um I need an acrobatics. Let me set the DC right somewhere so I can write there. I will roll.
02:26:57
Speaker
Acrobatics. ah And then we'll use all your movement to get to that. If you get it. You're holding your face. I am holding my face, even though I have a wonderful modifier. It's a nine.
02:27:08
Speaker
Nine. Okay. Okay. All right. Yeah. So, um, you try, you jump up onto the table, you start scaling board sports. And I'm going to take a little bit here and assume unaware that you're going climbing him. and And if I remember correctly, he didn't like you touching him earlier. So I'm not sure how keen he's going to be on you climbing him. Nonetheless, try to jump on his shoulder.
02:27:31
Speaker
Nonetheless, you try to scale him, but this just his sheer size and rotundness doesn't give you much to kind of grasp. And you kind of slip and fall. and You're going to fall prone. ah You're on the table with him, but you're prone.
02:27:43
Speaker
5'10", 15. You've used 20, 25 feet of movement to... Oh, can't really end. Yeah, behind him. 25 feet of movement so far to get to that position and you're prone. Yeah.
02:27:56
Speaker
right okay it's kind of soz uh no no goes it goes both ways it can look really cool but know i'm gonna yeah it was open but there we go i've got a bonus action to get my extra movement and dash okay um so i'm just gonna kind of stand up quickly brush myself down let's go for the less stylish way um
02:28:21
Speaker
Is there anything physical like near the lower part of this creature that I can actually hit? It's all water from your current location. It's all water. um Okay, in which case I'm just going to try and run through. I'm running past.
02:28:38
Speaker
um I'm going to start making my way to the glowing spire in the middle of the lake. Yep. um which if I'm here... do to do Yeah, I've got like 55 foot worth of movement left, so I can still make my way to there. Okay, it's going to take an attack opportunity as you run past, unless you... Yes, absolutely go for it. 23.
02:29:05
Speaker
Yes, that hits. yeah I assumed... When do my reactions reset? Beginning of your turn. Oh, sweet.
02:29:19
Speaker
12 points of slashing damage. but As fine finally you run past, this claw of water reaches out, and as it just about to hit you, it forms into a number of sharp sharpened icicles and catch you just as you run past before returning back to the form of water.
02:29:40
Speaker
Okay, um so if it's slashing damage and my reaction resets at the start of my turn, then I can do deflect attack again.
02:29:52
Speaker
Yeah. So I will do one d ten because it actually goes above that. So I get to take off 15 points of damage.
02:30:03
Speaker
So no damage. that hope so yeah yeah yeah I reduce it down to zero. Cool. I'm going to continue sprinting towards um ah the spire.
02:30:15
Speaker
They're a good location for me to put it to hit it. Sure. Cool. I'm going to hit the spire. going to punch this spire. Punch the rock. Yeah. Don't see it going well, but...
02:30:28
Speaker
Why the hell not? Ah, why the hell not? 16 to hit. Yeah, that hits.
02:30:35
Speaker
And, oh God, it's always eights in natural ones on damage. Five points of bludgeoning damage, maybe. ah You hit into the spire and a large chunk of this falls off a little bit above.
02:30:49
Speaker
It also kind of slides down and falls off as well. You've taken probably 2% of it down at this point. I'm going to punch it again. Okay.
02:30:59
Speaker
Roll to hit. AC of four, by the way. just as long as okay you beat four, you're fine. I'm always going to hit it then. Not a natural one, though.
02:31:11
Speaker
Yeah, not a natural one. But that's an additional nine points of bludgeoning damage. Another large chunk falls off and you see the glowing flicker once. Anything else you want to do with your turn?
02:31:24
Speaker
No, that's everything. I've made a fall out of myself long enough now. ah Blake, your turn. This thing is approached. Blake's fallen down. right I've just had mine. Sorry. but Brian, ive I've ticked Blake. I meant to say Brian. Brian, it's your turn. Apologies. You do see Blake try to run up Bortz, fall down, run around it, get hit by it, then punch a rock.
02:31:43
Speaker
ah Bortz is screaming at water. And there's a water creature behind Bortz, but Bortz didn't care. What would you like to do?
02:31:55
Speaker
will take a ah look at the big old water beast so he's not even got any toes and will use my child divinity divine and spark and and he he needs to make a dc14 con save that's a natural one fuck me
02:32:19
Speaker
so he he's gonna take 10 radiant damage Oh, nice. Very nice. is The light of this radiant damage seems to almost ah almost refract within it and almost lets off a rainbow-esque effect from the inside, but it you can see it convulses as it it doesn't enjoy it.
02:32:38
Speaker
ah that That is clear.
02:32:42
Speaker
Lovely stuff. And then... Nope. Not that, actually. I will...
02:32:54
Speaker
Just move up. Five, ten, fifteen to there. Okay, so you're kind of keep keeping he yourself ah yeah kind of near the left-hand wall, separate from Bort, separate from Blake, almost like a triangle with this creature in the middle, you guys at the at the points. Yeah.
02:33:09
Speaker
Very nice. Cool. I like your thinking. Very good. All right, anything else you want to with turn, Brian?
02:33:16
Speaker
Nope. Okay, um this is the Tidewalker's turn. First things first, he's going to unleash this Tidal Slam at Borts.
02:33:32
Speaker
Wait, yeah, you did the damage, didn't you? Yeah, at Borts. Yeah, yeah, yeah. um And it's going to be a ah DC 14 deck save, please, just for you, given the cone.
02:33:46
Speaker
And then whilst that's rolling, he's also going to form up. Go ahead. It's a fail. it's ah It's either a minus one or a one. I didn't roll a one, but my rolls were.
02:33:58
Speaker
Very good. I did roll a one, but it was advantage. So yeah, I fucked it. So um you're going to take some damage. ah 12 points of bludgeoning damage, which I'm assuming you have.
02:34:12
Speaker
ah You're also prone as well. ah It then turns, well, it doesn't turn. it kind of The arm and body kind of twists and convulses through and forms up yet another one of these barnacle revenants directly next to Blake.
02:34:27
Speaker
It's then instantly going to take its turn and try and hit you. ah Blake, ooh, that's better. Okay, now I'm rolling. Here we go. Unnatural 20. Yep. yeah And then you're taking five points of slashing damage.
02:34:41
Speaker
No damage. Could you then make a wisdom saving throw, please?
02:34:48
Speaker
I Oh, God, it's a natural one. Lovely. You also take three points of psychic damage. Oh, my brain. As you just hear what seems to be a crying child somewhere in your head, in the rock, in the water, something.
02:35:06
Speaker
The other one ah that is to the south that has yet to move is going to make a beeline for Bortz and is going to have kind of slithered itself up onto the table behind you and is going to try and hit you for a 12.
02:35:23
Speaker
With advantage because I'm prone. Oh, yeah, of course. Thank you At 12. ah No, surprisingly, doesn't hit because my cotton is pretty decent. It's ah bumped up the yeah the deficit that I get for my dex.
02:35:39
Speaker
No problem, no problem. So um that's the end of its turn at the moment. Over to you, Bortz. You're prone. this um the The psychic damage on hit, is that every single time they hit, they do the psychic damage?
02:35:55
Speaker
they You do the check for the psychic damage. Okay, because on the attack of opportunity, I don't think I made a wisdom save. You didn't. You didn't. Yeah, would you mind just making that now? Sorry, that was my fault. I forgot. Yeah, no, no, that's fine. I just i didn't want to... Yeah, it was a three, so... Three on the wisdom. I can't have... Yeah.
02:36:10
Speaker
Yeah, so four points of psychic damage. Yeah, I can't reduce that any way. Bort, officially, technically, is looking bloodied. um So he's yeah he's he's below half health now.
02:36:22
Speaker
It's taken a while. taking it ah Yeah, it's taken a long time. he's he's a chunky boy. he's jonky boy ah But he's starting to show a bit of wear and tear now. ah But over to him, he is he's going to use half his movement speed to stand up, obviously.
02:36:37
Speaker
ah He's taking an attack from behind. He's not too interested in that. but he's going to have a crack at the guy in front. Do you reckon I could hit his face from where I am? What are you, about seven, eight feet tall?
02:36:52
Speaker
Yeah. i saw About six and a half, I said, think.
02:36:57
Speaker
because it's important if not there's something i need to do oh he's sorry he's not the jumping type okay that's fine um mainly because i don't think his legs would take it uh instead then he's gonna he's gonna stand himself up after taking this uh well not actually he didn't take a hit then did he ah stand himself back up and he is just going to flex somewhat and kind of piercing out from his bare back is this acidy spectral kind of ah just like ah ah almost like a lance two of them out of his shoulder blades that spread like a fan fanning out into these two acidy spectral wings he's using his bonus action to grant himself a little bit of
02:37:44
Speaker
Draconic Flight, ah which is the 2024 Dragonborn feature. ah so he's got a fly speed now, and he is going to... so but fly himself up five feet into the air, which I don't think means he leaves the range of the guy behind him. He won't. But so long as he's in line with the face of the guy in front of him, yeah ah he is going to just take a slash with reckless attack. So with advantage at the face of Macy boy directly in front of him. Let's go. I like to imagine that he's got wings like you in Coco when the, when the dog gets the wings at the end and they're really weird and small. Yeah.
02:38:24
Speaker
that yeah my In my head, I'm thinking, oh what's his name from a bug's life begins with an eight. Oh, Heimlich. Oh, I'm a beautiful butterfly. You are like little ants from up here.
02:38:43
Speaker
Oh, fantastic. Yeah. Nine points of slashing damage. If a 17 hits, it's nine points of slashing damage. Yes. and ah Nine points. yeah Yeah, that does hit. And then if a 24 hits, going for the crit, didn't work, 24 on the nick attack, if you like, um which brings it to five points of slashing as well on the nick attack as the the offhand comes in.
02:39:12
Speaker
And then he's going to flip the scimitar, not the scimitar, flip the hand back around for his second attack and go for the war hammer on this thing's face. 22, but I'm going for the crit.
02:39:26
Speaker
No, I didn't get it. 22 to hit. Yep, 22 does hit. Yep, they've all hit so far. Tasty. In which case, the damage for that one is going to be 11 points of bludgeoning damage, and he's pushed back... I think he's pushed back 10 foot regardless. I need to see if it needs to... Wait, out hold on, sorry.
02:39:47
Speaker
You might need to make a save with the mastery. That's my fault. I don't think I've done this before. If you hit a creature, that you can push it. Oh, you can push it back. He doesn't need to make a save. Weapon mastery. Makes sense. Pretty cool.
02:39:57
Speaker
Yeah, no, yeah, yeah. He's pushed back 10 feet. I don't kind of want him to, but I mean, this big, he's kind of flown up in the air with his tiny little wings, flown up in the air, taking a couple of slashes and then just gone for this massive hammer attack to the face. And it's kind of hopefully staggered the screecher back a little bit.
02:40:15
Speaker
And then he'll push himself forwards 10 feet, leaving attack of opportunity range. and And the guy gets advantage on the attack because i've taken reckless attack. Mm-hmm. We will take that.
02:40:26
Speaker
That's firstly going to be 13, and then... Hits. Okay, good, because i got a 2 on that next um um Then you're going to take 5 points of slashing damage and then a DC 12 wisdom saving throw, please. Okie dokie. The wisdom save is a natural 1.
02:40:45
Speaker
Okay, so that's 2 points of psychic damage. Tasty. Awesome. So he's taken that again. He's not looking great, but he's this floating mass of draconic blubber that's charged down the guy that he's just hit back with a massive old hit.
02:41:00
Speaker
ah He is probably going to get himself about 10 feet off the floor now in line with this thing's face still. Yeah. um that's him and that's a good 25 points of damage you just did to it tasty that's tasty af giving you guys level five very good damage cool uh thanks very much borts for that blake over to you you've got one of these barnacle revenant things in your face and it's just been shunted back uh 10 the the the uh tide walk has been shunted back 10 feet towards you just want say i love the phrase draconic blubber
02:41:32
Speaker
That go out sounds fantastic.
02:41:38
Speaker
um Yeah, so he's going to kind of... He's been punching this spire, white spire that's in the middle of the lake. He's going to kind of feel the hit come from his left. turn. Oh, come on.
02:41:49
Speaker
And then as he turns again, and you'll see this wave of water just be splashed back 10 feet towards. Oh, come on. as Everything just seems to be gathering around him he's just trying to get away from actually doing fighting.
02:42:02
Speaker
um The smaller creature um that attacked me, I'm going to ah just attempt to attack back ah with a nice standard unarmed strike.
02:42:14
Speaker
Okay. To begin with, just a quick little punch to the face, which is a nine to hit, which is... Terrible. I thought as much.
02:42:25
Speaker
um And then... Oh, for God's sake, now I'm rolling turds. I'm going to try and follow up with a second one, which is the actual attack. I'm going to have 12 to hit.
02:42:36
Speaker
ah That meets a beat. I'll give you that. who I can at least roll a little bit of ah damage then. 10 points of
02:42:51
Speaker
bludgeoning damage. um I'm going to spend a key point as well and do flurry of blows as my bonus action.
02:43:03
Speaker
wonder when that would happen. Give myself a couple of extra and things as well. So attack number three. Come on. My and God, 10 to hit? That's not a hit.
02:43:15
Speaker
Come on, you damn bastard. And it's a crit! That's made up for everything! and come on, do some good damage for the love of God. now 10 points of bludgeoning damage. It's enough. It crumples to the floor as these absolute flurry of hits come in.
02:43:33
Speaker
And it crumples to the floor. But as it crumples to the floor, it seems to float on the surface like oil on water. and then there's a sudden eruption of and of ah blackened energy from it.
02:43:45
Speaker
It does a almost like a weirdly kind of death explosion, and you need to make a constitution. Wait, Bortz, how high up are you? 10 feet. I said I was 10 feet off the off the surface there's water now, yeah.
02:44:03
Speaker
Okay, you're fine. ah It's just Blake then. a constitution saving throw, please. Shit.
02:44:10
Speaker
Ooh, 21. Okay, you take half damage, take eight points of necrotic damage. It's 2d8, and I rolled max. I was two eights for that. Eight points of necrotic damage. Ooh, that's painful.
02:44:24
Speaker
But it is dead. It is gone. i can't get rid of it. It's gone now. Okay, there you go. Nice. Okay, Brian. If I move, just like, yeah if I move, is that going to open me up to opportunity attack from the guy? Is that you asking, or is that Blake thinking?
02:44:41
Speaker
um Do you remember this turn?
02:44:48
Speaker
do you remember? The walker's turn. Do you remember? Did it use its reaction on you?
02:44:56
Speaker
Do you feel lucky, punk? You choose what you want to do. and Yeah, you know what? Fuck it. i've got to i'm I'm running. i'm I'm running away. I'm going to try move around the side um just to give myself a wrap ah good 10, 15 feet away from the big guy. And if it's an opportunity attack, it's an opportunity attack.
02:45:14
Speaker
I'm going to for it. It's an opportunity attack. 21 to hit fuck but Yeah, but that's it. Nine points of slashing damages. Again, these ice comes out and catches you.
02:45:26
Speaker
um I will use my deflect attack on that one. Okay. and' My reaction... um Oh yeah. Nine points of damage. cho I have a plus nine.
02:45:37
Speaker
What I can do, however, I'm going to spend another focus point and I'm going to redirect this water energy and these ice shard crystals back into you.
02:45:47
Speaker
ah dugan no i' going to do some redirecting attack. So can you make a dexterity saving throw? 10. Uh, you fail.
02:46:00
Speaker
Hooray. Hooray. exactly hooray ah and you take come on good rolls come on good rolls um 18 points of whatever damage you gave to me or was going to give to me 18 you broke 18 it's 2d8 plus
02:46:23
Speaker
Nice. Okay. i I'm going to have to, I know but Brian, you have been waiting patiently and I do give you that, but like it has a condition that when it gets below a certain health, ah it changes and it's just hit that health ah barrier.
02:46:43
Speaker
What happens to this at this point is that it's that the water convulses and ah shifts and changes and then splits. um the creature itself disappears.
02:46:54
Speaker
And three smaller... Unfortunately, they look identical on roll 22, the item that we have for the other ones. I've tried to darken the other ones, but i i'll I'll do something to it in just a second. But it basically splits, and these are still five feet in diameter, but we're still talking 15 feet high.
02:47:13
Speaker
um Spires of water and convulsing energy as it splits into these small... there are three smaller lifeforms here. i'm That's happened because it's a condition of when it gets to a certain HP, but it's it's still, Brian, your turn, finally.
02:47:31
Speaker
Great. So what I will do to start with is I will will cast Crusader's Mantle. Okay. ah So I will have a 30-foot aura, and me and my allies, while we're in that aura, will deal an extra 1d4 radiant damage on every hit.
02:47:52
Speaker
Oh, come near the four attacks per turn. Come on. Yeah. and so Then i will approach the barnacle boy and using my war domain, war priest feature, used whip out my my mace, which I would like, if you'll allow, to be like a foot on the end of a pole.
02:48:25
Speaker
Hell yeah! Yeah. heard stump bill Yeah, yeah, yeah. Take ah ah foot foot swipe at my boy there. Nice. Okay. yeah okay A kick on a pole.
02:48:39
Speaker
14. That hits. ah hit
02:48:43
Speaker
So it is five bludgeoning and three radiant. Nice. This was already damaged by Bortz or or ah one of the other two bees earlier on, and that actually knocks it out of the game and it it falls to the ground.
02:49:04
Speaker
ah Could you also make a constitution saving throw? Aye, aye. As it releases its death. Wave thing. Ooh, that's eight.
02:49:15
Speaker
Okay, you fail. ah Six points of necrotic damage.
02:49:23
Speaker
Ouch. Ouch, indeed. Cool, thank you very much, Brian. Anything else you want to do with your turn? Nope, that's it, thank you. Okie dokie, right. Top of the round, the Tidewalkers now.
02:49:37
Speaker
So... ah Oh, shit. They... They are separate entities. They all take the turn at the same time, but they are still of one mind. And they have but one mind here.
02:49:49
Speaker
Borts, borts, borts, borts. So on the beach they they each get basically smaller version of the same attack it previously had, so the title slam. and It's all with advantage because of my reckless attacking.
02:50:03
Speaker
Oh, dear. How's it going? That's the first thing I'm going to say to you. How's going? Are you flowing? um That is a 15 to hit on the first one.
02:50:16
Speaker
Yep. A 15 to hit on the second one. 20 unnatural to hit on the third. Yep. ah Okay, okay, here we go.
02:50:29
Speaker
Nine points of bludgeoning damage. And no, sorry.
02:50:37
Speaker
Nine modes of bludgeoning damage. You fail the decks. Yeah, because the tiddly ones, they get 1d8 instead of... Yeah, that's it. I know. That's right. That's right. I'm sorry. yeah Half to four for me.
02:50:49
Speaker
Woohoo. And a deck save on each of them. Yeah, that was a dex saves. Wait. Oh, what the fuck was I doing? I was attacking you, wasn't I?
02:51:00
Speaker
Right, I've done it wrong. Retcon, take it back. Shit, man. Sorry, my bad. um It is a dexterity saving throw. Sorry for each of these. I've totally fucked up. Okay, so after the first one that hits.
02:51:14
Speaker
Well, ignore all of them. Actually, they get advantage regardless, don't they? Yeah. No. 40.
02:51:20
Speaker
team Passes. Dex 13 is what we're looking for. Happy days. ah So i'm making am I making two more dex saves? Yes, please. Three in total, yeah.
02:51:31
Speaker
Okie dokie. Well, my second dex save is tasty... 11. eleven Fails. I fall out the sky.
02:51:42
Speaker
Oh, you do? Yeah. and I'm flying. Ah, okay. Nice. 10 feet. Is that going to cause any blood? Yeah, it will actually. Yeah, would you not take fall damage? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:51:56
Speaker
And then the last one, there's a third one as well. and Another deck save? Yes, please. Yeah, three. I'm already prone, aren't What do you want? What do you want me, double prone? No, I guess with disadvantage.
02:52:10
Speaker
17. With disadvantage? Oh, disadvantage. Yeah, disadvantage, yeah. For a dex save? I'm considering... I've got advantage... Oh, right. He rolled about role with got should Sorry, just roll as a... Yeah, okay, 17. Okay, no, nothing for that.
02:52:25
Speaker
So you take two points of four bludgeoning damage from falling and then four put and then four points of bludgeoning damage from the one attack that managed to get through.

Aftermath and Reflections

02:52:35
Speaker
And it also forms up, between the three of them, forms up yet another one of the barnacle revenants that appears directly in front of father... Not father, sorry, I've promoted you.
02:52:47
Speaker
Brother bla Brian, bless toes as well. That then instantly takes his turn against the brother himself. That's a natural 20. Sorry, buddy. oh she leaves That will hit.
02:53:01
Speaker
That's 11 points of slashing damage. no man Can you take a wisdom saving throw, please? Yes, sir.
02:53:12
Speaker
That's an 8. ah You fail. You then also take 4 points of psychic damage.
02:53:20
Speaker
Ouch. Ouch, indeed. right, that's the end of the Tidewalker's turn. Bortz, it's split. The water is three. You're face down in the water. The water at this point is about three or four feet deep, so it's not knee, hip height.
02:53:35
Speaker
Okay, so um my face is currently underwater. He'll kind of push himself up to standing. The wings are still there. They've not kind of been knocked out of him. Okay. um I was ready for that one. I'll be honest. You got me good there. I was ready for that one. But never mind. Never mind. Surgeon Storm! And he's going to fly back up in the air.
02:53:56
Speaker
He's got 20 feet of movement speed after his um after his flight, after his kind of prone standing. So he's only going to get himself 10 feet back up in the air. Yeah. ah But he's just going to kind of be now with blade and hatchet war hammer just in his hands swinging around like just not any skill or any form or anything like that. It is purely just waving these weapons as harshly and as hard as he can around him. So the first strike...
02:54:27
Speaker
Again, reckless attack for the one ah to his right will be with the scimitar. ah So that is a 17 to hit. That hits.
02:54:38
Speaker
Amazing. So the first one to the one on his right will take 10 points of slash and damage. The next one that he's going to go for Sorry. Do I need to make a con save for my Crusader's Mantle? You will, yes, before we add that damage on to Will's roll as well. Yeah, if you wouldn't mind making the con save.
02:55:00
Speaker
That's a non-natural 20. Yeah, you're fine. So, Will, you can add... Was it a V6? D4 of radiant damage for each hit. Which can equate to quite a lot when you've got four of them, isn't it? So it's 10 points of magical slashing plus one point of radiant.
02:55:17
Speaker
Okay. On the first. Yep. It's a 25 to hit with the hand axe. It's... It's all on the same one... It's the next one around. So it's one hit each.
02:55:28
Speaker
Cool. yeah the problem Yeah, exactly right. And then, yeah, yeah. So ah this is still part of the attack action. So it's four points of slashing plus two points of radiant.
02:55:42
Speaker
Nice. So six overall for the next one. Bosh, bosh. ah bonus action attack with the Warhammer on the next one around ah is a 25 to hit. hits
02:55:58
Speaker
Which will bring us... two I just need to double check because it's D&D Beyond rolls. Fucking hell. 11 minus 4, though. 7 points of bludgeoning damage plus 3 points of radiant.
02:56:14
Speaker
Nice. So 10 overall. And the one on the left is pushed back 10 feet. ah Smacks back into the wall. The water splashes up the wall. And then just for good measure, he is going to hit the first one that hit again with his extra attack, still with the Warhammer on this one, so he can get a bit more damage out of it, still with Reckless Attack.
02:56:37
Speaker
Is there 17 hit? 17 hits. Amazing. In which case, the first one, again, ah is pushed back 10 feet, but takes 9 points of damage overall, 7 bludgeoning and 2 radiant.
02:56:54
Speaker
Very nice. Wow. what You're in your element, though, surrounded by enemies, aren't you? ah Oh, yes. Clearing house. Hell And he's just going to square up to the one in front of him and say, now it looks like you're not ready. Very good.
02:57:12
Speaker
Blake, you just see Bortz go to fucking town on these tidewalkers. um One flies back to the left, du the other flies back towards you in the white spire that you're stood nearby. You can see but ah Brian Blessedoes dealing with one of these barnacle creatures that formed out of the water itself.
02:57:29
Speaker
What you want to do? um ah Blake's going to try and mop up massively. This one that's kind of come swarming over to him is just going to kind of run towards it and attempt to kind clothesline it just round about the head.
02:57:42
Speaker
Um, the intention of kind of running past it and hopefully finishing it off. Okay. Roll to hit. Woof. um Um, 13 to hit. Hits. No, it doesn't. Misses, misses, misses. Sorry.
02:57:53
Speaker
Ah, so he's just saying hit damage.
02:57:58
Speaker
um So yeah, that's fine. When he he kind of could flows through the water, to realize he's not made a connection, going to swing back past and try and do an elbow to the back of its like slightly capoele head.
02:58:09
Speaker
Okay, yep, roll to hit. ah Unnatural 20 on that one. All right, that does hit. Woohoo! And 12 points of bludgeoning damage.
02:58:20
Speaker
ah That kills it off and touch the water falls back down, ah ripple in the water, and then it's almost instantly still again the water that you're walking on top of still at this point. It is gone.
02:58:33
Speaker
pools uh and they're gonna move towards the one that is just next to god old bolt stingle that he's just squaring down with run towards it and try and c clonk in the side of the face uh this will be a flurry of blows again type of thing going to spend a key points turn the bonus action into two hits or okay oh shit Okay.
02:58:57
Speaker
This is pure of your flavor. It's a nine to hit, which I know it doesn't. Um, but what I can do, um, because of the monk class that I am, I also have hand of healing.
02:59:10
Speaker
So as this hand is going kind of miss this creature in front of board, it's going to keep flowing around and accidentally slap bought around the face. Um, but it's going to be a hand of healing instead of an actual damage. Um,
02:59:25
Speaker
So ken it was that a bonus action? If I spend a key point to use Flurry of Blows, I can use one of the attack actions as Hand of Healing at no additional cost. Okay, okay, okay. So I don't get the fourth attack, but I can do a Hand of Healing instead. And that doesn't have to be on self. That can be on others.
02:59:44
Speaker
It has to be on others. I can't do it to myself. Cool, no problem. right yeah So as this hand kind of comes around, accidentally slaps Bort around the face, but you feel good about it, and got six points of healing. Oh, no.
02:59:57
Speaker
Wait, do that again. Do you know you're into that sort of thing? You've got long arms because I'm quite high up in the air, but well done, you.
03:00:07
Speaker
I ah kind of grazed your foot. either of you I thought you'd fallen down. and Had you not fallen? Yeah, but he flew back up. Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe slapped yeah slaps his foot. Slapped my foot. Slapped your foot. Yeah, I've gone for the toes. That's what I've done.
03:00:20
Speaker
I've gone for the toes. Brian will remember this. You do bloody toes. Brian will remember this. Brian approves. All right. But that's everything I can do. Nice. Thank you very much for that.
03:00:31
Speaker
um I believe in Bort. I've got written down on my sheet and I don't know why. Well, we came up at one point, I think. ah Lovely. It was me when was following the path through. stuff i believe in Bort.

Concluding Thoughts and Future Plans

03:00:41
Speaker
Brian, your turn. You've got one of these Bionicle Revenants in your voice.
03:00:45
Speaker
What would you like to do? Yeah. And I'm going reach out a finger, touch him and inflict wounds. Yeah. Take this, water. so
03:00:56
Speaker
Con 14. Con 14 from myself. 15. Is it a con save now? It used to be wisdom or something like that. Inflict wounds used be an attack, a melee attack, like a spell attack.
03:01:12
Speaker
They've changed it to a ah save. That's baffling. Amazing. Awesome. Sorry. you we've plum yeah yeah I got a 15 anyway, so I pass it. Is it a half damage jobby? Absolutely, yeah So it takes five necrotic damage.
03:01:26
Speaker
Ouch. Still good damage that. Okay. and then I will bonus action, footmace him. Footmace. Okay, right. That's going to my favorite phrase as well. We've had footmace and draconic blubber in this fight, and I'm here for both of them.
03:01:46
Speaker
That's unfortunately only an eight with the, with the mace. So it's going to fly past him, I imagine. Yeah, that does miss, unfortunately, and does no damage. Anything else you want to do? Got any other actions, reactions, movement?
03:02:00
Speaker
a I'm going to stay there. We'll just hold him. Hold him. No problem. Okie dokie. Thank you very much. Tide walker's turn. um The two parts of the Tidewalker that remain, one that's been pushed against the wall, that's going to spin round and their focus is going to shift from Bortz onto um on Blake.
03:02:22
Speaker
As the one that was pushed against wall moves, you also see it summon up another Tidewalker. of the revenants and it forms next to Bort. So two of the attacks are going to be on Blake, one on Bort, one on brother blind Brian, Brian, blessed. I've got it's hard to say.
03:02:37
Speaker
So we'll start the two title slams that are going to be done on Blake. So Blake, could you make two consecutive DC 13 dexterity saving throws, please? Okay. I can do the first one is a 13. Put me to boots.
03:02:55
Speaker
And the second one is 25.
03:02:59
Speaker
However, roll damage for the first one for me. Because what i want to do, take the damage for the first one, but again, reaction deflects attack, and I want to try and redirect that attack into the one that hasn't yet hit me.
03:03:15
Speaker
But you passed You're actively failing the save, as in you're attempting to fail it. Well, it's still going to roll for damage, because even if I pass, it's just half damage, isn't it? Hmm. So as he does the first half damage, I want to deflect that attack.
03:03:32
Speaker
And if I can take it down to zero, redirect it into the one that hasn't attacked me yet. Okay. Yeah. Cut off the attack. Yeah. Eight, eight points of damage. Okay, cool. I can deflect that. to spend another focus point in burning through the focus points. Might as well. um and One shot, baby. Do 2d8 plus four.
03:03:49
Speaker
So... plus four so
03:03:54
Speaker
17 points of whatever damage you were going to do to me against the one that hasn't attacked me yet. Bludgeoning damage. So against number two, how how much? It was 17.
03:04:07
Speaker
three yeah that's that's Yeah, that's killed it. That's killed it before you got a chance to hit you. We're down to two. We're down to one, but of the Barnacle Revenant still remain.
03:04:19
Speaker
ah So it doesn't get a chance to hit you because it's ah dead. But you're going to get some claws, attempted claws with advantage. You've been recklessly, haven't you? Oh, yeah. I'm always recklessly, yeah, yeah. Yeah, baby. It's an unnatural 20.
03:04:34
Speaker
Definitely. Seven points of slashing damage. And can you make it... Reduce to three. Wisdom saving throw, please. I certainly cannot.
03:04:45
Speaker
Six. You take oh six points of psychic damage max. Not reduced, sadly. It stays exactly how it is. ah The other one against me Brian is going to try, let's say, so nine.
03:05:01
Speaker
No, ten. Ten. Still doesn't hit. No problem. Doesn't have any other effect on you apart from that. That's the end of the barnacle. The barnacles and the tide walkers turn. Bort, your turn.
03:05:12
Speaker
Yeah, it's Bort's turn. Bort is... He's 10 feet up in the air. He's just seeing this one in front of him get taken out. Another one's just kind of... Someone by the side of him, he's going to look down at it and he's going to have a good think about what he's going to do and go...
03:05:28
Speaker
It seemed to work well first time. And he's going to take the attack of opportunity, which isn't an advantage because he's technically, it's a new turn. and He's not recklessly attacked yet. So he's going to take an attack of opportunity away from the the minion that's nearest to him whilst he flies north towards the final kind of boss bad guy. It's going to be a 22 to hit.
03:05:52
Speaker
Yeah, that is. Yeah.
03:05:56
Speaker
Uh, seven points of slashing damage and then a half of sleep. And then a wisdom saving throw again, please. Mm-hmm. Fourteen. Oh, passes. I rolled the damage, but it passed. Result.
03:06:09
Speaker
Happy days. And what he's going to do is he's going to fly around this kind of bossy bad boy creature to the back and he's going to poke his big fat head round to the side and just look at the thing that's just hit him.
03:06:23
Speaker
kind of You see him kind of, he's got his scimitar and his axe mace in in in either hand. and he's kind of he looks like he's kind of almost like an air hostess, like closing one eye and lining up.
03:06:37
Speaker
if you like. And he goes, o and he's going breath weapon in a line. ah nice. Uh, Yeah, and the attempt is to breath weapon, the that i mean, if he needs to move a bit further around to get it directly in a line, at least two of them. I think it would be gratuitous to try to get all three, but it's up to you. but Yeah, you've got a choice. smart enough to Yeah, it would be the the the main one and either of the the two barnacles. You could shift the angle slightly and get the one that's near Brian, or you could shift the angle slightly and get it near the other one. and
03:07:11
Speaker
Blake, did have something you wanted to add to that? Yeah, it's not adding. I just want to obviously point out the one that I took down on my previous turn. I do apologize. were supposed to make a DC depth throw for it. 12.
03:07:26
Speaker
Okay, you fail it. That's fine. Nothing else changes. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks. I will probably go for the one that's slashed at me first.
03:07:37
Speaker
ah So I'll just line up and and and fuck Brian, apparently. So I need ah a con save. It's a con 16.
03:07:48
Speaker
Sorry, it's a dex 16 save for them both. 15 for the big bad. 8 for the barnacle. Two fails. The roll wasn't great. It was 11 points of acid damage. They both failed, so they both take 11 points of acid in that line. Okay. You go for it.
03:08:15
Speaker
It's still up. Is the one in front of me still up? Yeah, it's still up. Amazing. In which case, I will go back to taking the attack action ah with my second attack.
03:08:27
Speaker
ah to the one directly in front of me. So again, it's going to be scimitar. This is again going to be reckless. You may have noticed a theme. It's 23, but I'm crit fishing. No, 23 to hit.
03:08:38
Speaker
Crit fishing. like that. Yes, it hits. Cool. I don't know why that didn't roll. Let's try it again. ah That one takes nine points of slash and damage.
03:08:49
Speaker
i see As you strike into the creature, two things happen simultaneously. Firstly, um You're quite close to the spire behind you. You feel it vibrate more so than it has been already.
03:09:02
Speaker
ah You also notice both the barnacle revenants shudder and then disappear down into water. And then you see the water of the tidewalker in front of you stiffen slightly and become rigid.
03:09:19
Speaker
It becomes... was going to hard then, but i just saw you giggle. out still and It becomes solid like ice. And then you hear this incredible tension. Like so it's being twisted. And then at the very last second, it just explodes into, into ice everywhere.
03:09:37
Speaker
um Causing no damage, but just it's a dramatic way to end the combat. It falls silent. Amazing. The creature has been defeated. The treasure what's left of it at least, has been recovered.
03:09:52
Speaker
And then something happens. Something that weeks from now still plagues on your mind. the tower behind you suddenly emits an incredibly bright light, like a lighthouse style white light.
03:10:09
Speaker
And it shines and there is an intensity so much so that you your you you you have to look away from the brightness, but also the the sheer weight of light being directly over a thunderstorm.
03:10:23
Speaker
the power, the intensity of this just energy just seems to like almost push you down, but it's your kind of force to land with the weight of this. You're standing in the water in the water, but it's just pushing you all, all of you pushing you down.
03:10:38
Speaker
And then suddenly it releases and the silence again. And then it's only a matter of seconds before it happens again. the same thing, this intensity, this light, this pressure pushing down on you and you hear a vibration. You can hear and see, Blake, a couple of ah small flecks and small elements of the tower in the area that you punched fall again into the into the water below as the tower shakes and the energy pushes you down.
03:11:12
Speaker
and then it releases again. And then it doesn't happen again. ah just happens these two distinct times. Combat is over.
03:11:25
Speaker
You've found your folly. You've found the treasure you were sent by Zilda to collect. The bounty, whatever these items are worth, who knows?
03:11:39
Speaker
But something else has happened here. Something... deeper, some more at the base of wild heart. And what that is yet, you're not quite bright enough to understand boards, especially, but you know that it might have, it might have an impact on things in the future.
03:12:01
Speaker
Something's changed, but you just don't know what
03:12:07
Speaker
you land. that feeling resonates through you that I just kind of overly over described. Is there anything else you want to do? um before we kind of call it quits here.
03:12:21
Speaker
Oh, didn't like that. I don't like being pushed down. Nope. That was weird. Ow. Yeah. I don't think I've ever seen anything so bright.
03:12:37
Speaker
Um, everything lights. toes has it been since we've been down here? Oh, yeah, the toe count.
03:12:48
Speaker
Toe count? Oh, that is a good question. or maybe about five toes. thought it was only three toes on the necklace.
03:13:00
Speaker
Oh, my God. Oh, sorry. Oh, he was looking at the wrong one. All about the toes you are, aren't you?
03:13:10
Speaker
I'll look down at the necklace. Do i see anything unusual with the Tidecaller necklace? it ah It's glowing.
03:13:24
Speaker
It's glowing blue. And then it stops and glows again. And it has this weird... It's it's it's a pattern, but it's not a rhythm. it It glows, then stops, glows, glows...
03:13:37
Speaker
glows, stops glows, stops up glows. It's this weird unjilting pattern, like a rock tumbling down a cliff. It doesn't have a set pattern, but it's it's going to change. And then it just goes back to normal again.
03:13:54
Speaker
as in by normal, I mean just a light glow. Sorry. It looked like it was a bit like ah bit miffed at whatever happened here, but it just seems to be normal. All three of them glowing again.
03:14:12
Speaker
Have you got any of your kind of special Healy stuff with you that you did on that bloke a little a couple of days ago? I'm bleeding quite profusely.
03:14:24
Speaker
Yeah, all right. Come here then. Come here. i'll I'll give him some cure wounds. He'll look over at Blake and say, i heard someone say the name profusely a little while back.
03:14:40
Speaker
I'm very learned.
03:14:45
Speaker
That's 25 HP. Oh, that is. Oh, that's a good start. Hell of cure. Right, well, shall I carry the treasure up for us, then? ah You know what? we we We're a team, after all. you know We can each you can need to you know take ah a bit of it.
03:15:02
Speaker
You know, much as what we can carry. but you know yeah No need to put all the responsibility on you. Teamwork makes the dream work. Bortz is going to spend the rest of his flight speed that he has just dashing towards the exit and he'll call over his shoulder, no point waiting for the serves to come down here. Then he's there.
03:15:27
Speaker
And he will, unless you keep up with him, probably be lost to the labyrinth as he makes random lefts and rights and lefts again ah at full pelt.
03:15:43
Speaker
How old speedy are you? I've got a 40-foot speed, which obviously 80-foot dashing I can match your speed. Ooh. yeah. So you're flying, I'm running alongside you.
03:16:02
Speaker
So I'll be about 10 foot behind. let's go, team. Let's go. He's the one with the map. So... Okay, cool. And as you as you start to sprint your way through the corridors, ah an unholy alliance of a dragon of a fat dragonborn flying, a yeah tiny, thin, bald monk, and a halfling tottering behind.
03:16:25
Speaker
ah Just one last final note as you as you enter into, again, these labyrinthine tunnels, ah bought but as you take your first corner, and I'm assuming here um that Blake does the same thing of kind of planting the seed of which direction to go as you approach each corner. You notice again, though, um as you do your second corner, that they that there they're laughing and you can just, you just hear it again, this laughter again. ah it's It's them, but it's it's not because it's coming from above and he's below and the weight's
03:17:05
Speaker
And the things that have happened, you push it away and you keep on moving through the Labyrinthine Tunnel to the exit, to Freedom, to the Tidewatch Keep, to the Capitol, and hopefully to riches.
03:17:18
Speaker
But if they ever get there or not, we might not know until later. And that, I think, is where we're going to end it for our little one-shot, which I think now has to be called Surge and Storm, or Draconic Blubber. I'm not sure yet which...
03:17:32
Speaker
i Or Footmace. I don't know. I've got a couple of name choices. There's so many options. that was um That was our little one shot into Wild Heart, guys. Thank you very much for taking part in having it. Have a go. I know for the three of you, I literally gave you fuck all. I said, make a character. You're going to steal some treasure.
03:17:50
Speaker
And that's literally it. um So kudos to you three. So thank you very much for that. And thank you everyone for listening. um There will be more stuff coming out soon um on this that runs alongside what we've got going at the moment. So keep tuned for more information. Hopefully this has piqued your interest for some more stuff to come in the future.
03:18:07
Speaker
im' not going to do all the... Twitter stuff because we none of us use it so it's pointless to talk about it really. um I think this... If you listen to us, you like to us, continue and tell a friend about us. There you go. Sold it well. That's it. Do want to do the send off, Callum? seems say you've No.
03:18:24
Speaker
you met me do I'm going to let you do it. Also, we've we've we've popped we pop Rob's Fellowship Cherry. way Very true. Thank you for joining us, Rob.
03:18:37
Speaker
yeah ma'am welcome i Thank you for having me. It was some fun. Bringing foot fetishes back into the Fellowship mainstream. Definitely not something I was expecting to hear about tonight. with a character They say right about what you know,
03:18:54
Speaker
and Let's not delve any deeper into that.
03:19:00

ah The question really becomes, do we invite Rob back? Yes, of course we would. We'd love to have you back. And and i think we must we must re-inhabit these characters at some point in the future and see see what the journey's taken around Wild Heart later on.
