Sea Shanty and Introduction

00:00:00
Speaker
Emron, sing us a sea shanty.
00:00:05
Speaker
What? A sea shanty. It'll help us sail through the night and lift the spirits.
00:00:40
Speaker

Mission Recap and Strategy

00:01:30
Speaker
Reaver. And by last, but by no means least, is the anecdote adjudicator, the ancient lore antiquator, the arbiter of adventure, the vegan duchess who caresses my buttress.
00:01:42
Speaker
Dungeon Master Demi. Love it. Absolutely love it. Speaking of a buttress, we find old Gail sat upon the edge of a buttress, of a rather large butt. What is a buttress?
00:01:55
Speaker
It's like a water defense system. Exactly. On the spit of land sticking out over northern Dralak, he sits and spits into the ocean and flicks the orb up into his hand and jumps it off the the elbow pit and catches it in his gob.
00:02:13
Speaker
He spits it out and then looks at us and says... I like this water the defense system. Ooh! On a high way to hell! The big boy demon is all like, she is mine, and stuns Alpha.
00:02:30
Speaker
Baal entangles the back baddies, Emron gets stuck in, Nyx orb, Seth slashes, Therok flame tongues, Alpha shrugs off the stun. Sebastian gets downed, though, and Alpha's like, I'm gonna thunderstep you boy of danger, but also,
00:02:44
Speaker
Al's away from the party and the fucking healer. Alpha then gets wrapped up like a bitch and tugged into the hells. Ball zooms after him. And down there, there's obsidian halls filled with hell gates.
00:02:56
Speaker
And Ball's like, I'm feeling weak, boy. Meanwhile, upstairs, Seth kills the big bad boy. And then meanwhile, downstairs, Alpha makes a thunderous boom for some reason.
00:03:07
Speaker
Kills the chain devil that took him, but wakes up fucking hells. And Bahl's like, ah, we gotta get out of here, boy, and flies them both out at Mach 5. Meanwhile, upstairs, Emron comes in clutch again with some heels and some wax.
00:03:19
Speaker
Nyx, all fucked up like, weakly pops the last bad guy. And Alpha, after being saved from the hells, blacks out. And he has visions of this dragon-sized demon, all double-jawed and some straight-up Diablo-style shit. And in its hand it's holding Alpha Stone.
00:03:42
Speaker
It's in the ruins of Scorchhelm. It's Tolkelon in all of his glory.
00:03:53
Speaker
Thunder rumbles as the din of booming metal and spraying fire from the now vanquished demons rings out into the night.
00:04:06
Speaker
Fleeing the melee that interrupted the meeting of the Winged Watch, you are now tasked with safely escorting Sparrowhawk out of Scorch Helm. And to continue your mission, capture and interrogate the leader of the Upchriscra, Delmond Trace.
00:04:24
Speaker
Who you have recently learnt is staying in Sleetgaard's capital, Goldview.
00:04:32
Speaker
Prego's last words, before being shackled and dragged out of this world, ''Save me!'' echo from the now-sealed, shut hellgate, from which these demons spawned.
00:04:50
Speaker
In between the thunderous breaks, the city seems still, not aware of the events of the last few moments. The severed compass, your newly upgraded vessel, and the swiftest route to Slategard is moored half a mile to the north through the heart of the city in the harbour district.
00:05:10
Speaker
The caravansary and the stables are a quarter of a mile due west in the Milkgate district, although trunks and tharva are not due in Scorch Helm for a few more days, you'd have to require additional travel expenses.
00:05:25
Speaker
All feeling worse for wear, some critically, some less so. Once again, time is against you. What are you doing?
00:05:38
Speaker
Is Alpha still blacked out at this point, has he come to? Slowly but surely, Alpha, you're coming around.
00:05:49
Speaker
Cool. So Baal kind of luring him somewhat to the floor in his Superman-like flight to down after coming out of the hells is going to unceremoniously drop him when he gets about three feet from the floor and just go, Why the fuck did you get away from the party and the healer and run into the fucking hells, Alpha?
00:06:13
Speaker
There there was was no running. I was dragged. And... fredie Alpha can't like demonstrate rapid breathing but as soon as that clunk hits the ground with Alpha, he's out of Barl's hands.
00:06:27
Speaker
He's kind of going to ah cowardly push away with his legs and it kind of force his back up against the wall. He's darting sight left and right, just looking everything um clearly in some form panicked state.
00:06:43
Speaker
Yeah, not dragged, not ran, not ran. Is Sparrowhawk okay?
00:06:51
Speaker
Oh, fuck. Good point. As you turn your attention, you see your, want to say charge, yes, you see your charge kneeling down, propping against some of the discarded barrels in this alleyway, breathing, but injured.
00:07:11
Speaker
Right. It looks like you've cleaned up up here. Well done. Get close, please. Gather round. I'll top everyone up. Yes, please.
00:07:23
Speaker
And yeah, Barl's going to, if there's any flame around, he'll steal it into his hands and push it to his feet to once more cast his third level. I think you extinguished everything when you used your wings.
00:07:34
Speaker
Cool. and whichch Having seen this before, Farrakh will just ignite the blade. Cool. Amazing. And I'll immediately steal that um from you. it won't it won't it It won't take away the flame from your blade. It's mainly flavor um because I'm just casting Aura of Vitality.
00:07:52
Speaker
And what I'll do is I'll click the button ah for 10 rounds worth to find out, or I'll just roll how many d6s it is. 2d6 for a minute. so that's 20d6.
00:08:03
Speaker
And then I'll let you know the overall number and we'll divvy it up from there. but that's what Bile's doing for the next minute. okay while that's happening sorry While that's happening, in the same minute, Seth would have gone over towards Sparrowhawk, seeing he's kind of alive. I can't do anything about it. I know Abba's going to do it.
00:08:23
Speaker
And he's going to sit down and him and Nithravar are going to start what can only be described as it looks like kind of 3D printing with the pens. And they're just going to be from the ground up. There's these four points on the ground and they're each going to be kind of etching into the ground these kind of ah circular shapes and then slowly kind of almost like painting up and Nithravar is chanting the whole way through. I'm going to take the minute to cast Phantom Steed, the idea that we're going to put Sparrowhawk on it as a way of moving him quickly.
00:08:50
Speaker
And if trouble hits again, we can hayar, hayar him away with safety. That's the aim. but That takes a minute also. Okay, awesome. I've rolled all the dice and I get 70 hit points to restore overall.
00:09:01
Speaker
Probably seeing that Nyx looks the most fucked up, he would pump it into Nyx. Um, how many of 70 do you need? 42. forty two Okay. Well, yeah, take 42. Uh, that leaves me with 38 to dip. Who looks worse amongst the rest?
00:09:21
Speaker
I'm assuming Emron, cause he always gets smacked up. Um, and Make ah a sort of scanning perception check, if you will. And then of a certain number, everyone can just declare the hit points.
00:09:34
Speaker
Yeah, no stress. ah It is says not great. Roll 14. That's enough. Can everyone just shout out your hit points out of total, please? so but thought was going to speak at the same time.
00:09:46
Speaker
30 out 38. Cool. 45 out of 77. Cool. Oh,
00:09:50
Speaker
forty five out of seventy seven oh yeah I got knocked out, so I technically just reduced everything down to zero on the sheet, so I'll just put myself back up to one as I've come to. 18 out of 41. Okay. glad that I said mine first. yeah Out of those 39 then? Seth's fine. seth's fine Yeah, I think Bar would kind of work that out then and probably b split it between the the three words. I'd probably put... um I don't know, let's say kind of 15 towards um Alpha.
00:10:27
Speaker
And then that, why do I have say 15, 19 towards Alpha. And then I'd split the last 20, 10 and 10. Cool. um the The other two. ah Great.
00:10:38
Speaker
Tharok, Alpha, Emron, Nyx in these singular minutes where where ah Seth and Baal are using their magic. is there anything you're doing? Farrakh would walk over to um Alpha, and what Farrakh is going to do is he's just going to hold up but ah hold out a a big hand towards Alpha. This big orcish hand is going to come out just to to off to get you up off the deck, Alpha.
00:11:03
Speaker
the he's gonna He's going to ah kind of bat it away, but it's not an offensive thing for him. It's like, no, no, no, no i I don't want to be touched right now. type situation it's more done in fear rather than agitation oh then if i'm no no i'm fine i'm fine no fair enough you know you make it really fucking hard to try and distract things from hitting you when you're throwing around thunderclaps it's impressive though i had to move it seemed like the best idea of the time i don't think it was just in hindsight
00:11:36
Speaker
And with that, Farrokh's just going to take a a sentinel sentry position, just making sure that the streets are secure because Scorched Helm was in quite a riotous way just then with portals and devils.
00:11:54
Speaker
Hemron? Is the body of the big demon still there? There we go. There it is. Loot! Look at that body. Yeah. um So, yes, Emron's going to um search the big demon. But I see are the other little demons there. The big demon boss seem So, there's yes, the two Maragon creatures turn to ash. the <unk>ve forgot the name of it now. It'll come back to me in a second.
00:12:26
Speaker
Corbin Tyler. Gorgonzola? I'm sure it was that, wasn't it? It wasn't Gorgonzola. It'll come back to me a second. right and and But that that is so the prone and corpsing.
00:12:40
Speaker
Cool. It's been corpsified. um Okay, i'll i'll i will I will search the thing first. I've established it has a penis smaller than Seth's, so that's okay. Okay. um
00:12:53
Speaker
No, no, no. The demon has a penis smaller than Seth's. I was bigging up, Seth. Go fuck yourself. Oh, right. Sorry, I read that. I've never brought up Seth's anatomy. You don't know his situation. Or demon cock. We don't know. but What was that, Darren?
00:13:11
Speaker
It says Farrakh's proportional, just as an FYI. Good to know. Green and veiny. Are you making contact as you sort of move the large places?

Travel through Scorch Helm

00:13:20
Speaker
that so It's largely got this leathery hide, but it has elements of this gold-plated metal around its body that make up some of its armor.
00:13:31
Speaker
That is kind of the same style of smith work as the gold-faced meragons that are also you also encountered. And then the golden chained creature that you saw drag, attempt to drag unsuccessfully ah alpha down into into the hell gate.
00:13:49
Speaker
Yeah, i'll um I'll put my hands on it to start with, see what happens. Can you make a wisdom saving throw, please? I will do. That's a 23 on the wisdom saving throw. As you go to sort of...
00:14:01
Speaker
press your hand against some of the metal and try and shift it like this thing is incredibly heavy and beginning to go into rigor mortis as you're you're really having to quite considerably put force behind everything you're doing.
00:14:14
Speaker
There's a sensation that kind of fills you temporarily, one that you've one that you've encountered before when... you shifted form and Tilwa was absolutely terrified of these Merogons.
00:14:31
Speaker
That sensation briefly comes back before you're able to kind of ground yourself and know that you are Emron at this time, you are not you're not Tilwa.
00:14:46
Speaker
And as you're sort of pushing, trying look for anything, you do buy a small pouch sort of embedded almost within the the the skin between where the plate metal sits and some of the leather bondings. I'm creating a couple of items.
00:15:05
Speaker
ah a series of of black coins, not not currency you're familiar with. And the coins are more like plate size, to be honest, but you can tell their coins just because the way they're kind of inscribed.
00:15:18
Speaker
And they have a heat to them. They have a real warmth. It kind of feels like you you're handling an ember as someone who would kind of know what that sensation felt like from your days working in a smithy.
00:15:31
Speaker
There's two of those. And there is also also this this reflective black shard that
00:15:44
Speaker
instinctively you can tell this has some kind of magical property, but you just don't know necessarily what that is.
00:15:51
Speaker
Otherwise, nothing else upon its person, upon its bodice. It's not a person. Okay. I'll keep the items in its in its pouch and then and take them. um
00:16:05
Speaker
and then he'll look to the rest of the group. So, Bolt?
00:16:15
Speaker
Yes, I absolutely agree that we should leave now. Before anything else happens, we should go, we should leave, we should depart. Any other adjectives you can use, let's go.
00:16:29
Speaker
I agree. And I'm just, it's a ship. And Baal will look at Nix and give him wink. ah oh Okay, the big floaty thing. No, it's a ship. He's right. He's absolutely right in this this point. um So clip-clops, splish-splosh, all of that.
00:16:47
Speaker
As Nix's eyes was already kind of glazed over at the image of Baal. returning from the hells like the proverbial Superman before receiving the healing that literally brought him back to full health. He's got a renewed vigor.
00:17:05
Speaker
And yeah. Let's go to the ship. Okay. Seth's finished pushing up Sparrowhawk onto now the fully formed phantom steed that has appeared in front of them. And it's a full-sized horse with a slight red tint, but it's white furred. So it's pink um and red-eyed like a ferret.
00:17:25
Speaker
That a weird choice. Anyway, that's the choice apparently I've gone with. i'm Not the images I'm looking at. It was going blue, but now it's not. and Yes, it's a pink horse now. And we pushed... um Sparrowhawk up onto that and kind of secured him on there in whatever kind of state he's in, made him comfortable.
00:17:41
Speaker
um And then we'll, I have the capacity, I imagine, reading through the spell to kind of control it with my brain. um And so we'll just kind of tell it to walk alongside the middle of the group and keep him within us But if danger appears, it is to run in the opposite direction with Sparrowhawk.
00:17:58
Speaker
And does it look like a regular horse or does it look like phantom-y, like ghost-y? There's a slight ephemeral-ness to it. I think if you got close, it'd be very obvious.
00:18:10
Speaker
But from a distance, it would probably... i think it's still clip-clops, importantly, um and has form. Otherwise, it wouldn't be able to hold a a being. and But i think upon any kind of close inspection, it would be very obvious that this is an arcanic creation.
00:18:23
Speaker
Okay. And they're no distance they're not uncommon around there for people to use magically created mounts as well as as well as organic ones, let's say. Hey, Nifrava.
00:18:37
Speaker
Yes, tiefling. Nyx, but what's the name of that impressive phantom steed? Beings created from the arcanic void do not possess names. It barely possesses form, let alone sentience.
00:18:51
Speaker
I understand, but if you were to conjure up a name for this newfound ethereal being, what would it be? The names of my language is beyond your recompense. It folds through the passes of time and space.
00:19:06
Speaker
Okay, so it's like a sound that folds through the time and space. What did that sound sound like? My job here is not to create fantasies for you, Tiffling. It's not a fantasy, it's more trying to... Sparrowhawk just interrupts.
00:19:19
Speaker
We don't have time. Sparrowhawk looking pretty injured? Make a perception check or a medicine check. He's the one we didn't heal. Whoops.
00:19:31
Speaker
But ironically, time is the one thing that will continue throughout. Oh, that was quick roll. sorry Sorry. 13. Yeah, he's panting, but not like bleeding out or anything like that. As he's in the middle of it, everyone's going to lay on a hand and I'm going to use healing hands and give him 3d4 hit points.
00:19:50
Speaker
Nice.
00:19:54
Speaker
Oh, that was completely the wrong... Yeah, so he got... Did that work? Yes. Silent Wind! Eight points of um healing.
00:20:06
Speaker
Thank you so much. Thank you so much. That's the name. Silent Wind. There you go. Nifavar, that's how it's done. We need to move. Words mean nothing here, silly mortal.
00:20:19
Speaker
These demons are following Alpha. We need to move and I need to get home. Let's walk and talk. um As we're walking... and talking with like the silence on the wind.
00:20:30
Speaker
Has anyone thought the fact that, you know, Prego is now in the hells. Didn't Prego say the only reason that, his brother couldn't come here was because he was here. So if he's not here, does that mean that his brother can now come here? Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
00:20:46
Speaker
Absolutely, yes. We we move. oh Is it the bond that we've got? the tattoos? Does that still link here? I don't know. I mean, I thought our tattoos were meant to keep him here, but clearly it doesn't stop being dragged here, dragged to the L, so I don't know.
00:21:03
Speaker
If we fu fulfill our end of the bargain and and he has a seat at the table, whatever the hell that means, surely that will free him because I don't know. But you're right. I think we don't sit around and find out. We need to splish splosh.
00:21:19
Speaker
but We have to assume the worst though. Let's go. As you're moving through Scorch Helm, are you moving casually are you moving urgently? Are you trying to draw attention?
00:21:32
Speaker
For the sake of it, Alpha is trying to put as much pace to it as what he can. It's not a run, but it's like a power walk that he's going for right now. I think Barr would lead or get himself to the front with his solid perception.
00:21:46
Speaker
um Shield out, sickle, Newport sickle in his hand, eyes on a swivel. um yeah i think If you are at the front, Alpha will just be by your side at the moment, eyes, head quickly darting left and right.
00:21:59
Speaker
as As we're traveling, Danny, does it sound like there are demon attacks elsewhere in the city? Make a perception check as you're heading out of this alleyway then. Okay.
00:22:09
Speaker
That's 16. The thunder is quite um regular and the intervals are quite short and the occasional flash of lightning in the sky. Listening to the in-between moments though and the moderately heavy downpour of rain you aren't hearing sounds kind akin to other demon attacks. You aren't hearing screaming, you aren't hearing sword on on flesh and and other things.
00:22:42
Speaker
You are hearing revelry, you are hearing sort of, at this point in the evening, the industry and the city kind of passes and there is music and there is laughter and there is shouting of a more um competitive sort.
00:22:59
Speaker
That's kind of intermittent between the weather. Okay.
00:23:05
Speaker
Okay. Right, well, it doesn't sound like the demons were attacking the city as a whole, so we're lucky there, but but let's get going. As you head through the city then, and you hear...
00:23:18
Speaker
The familiar sounds of a city that's gone through quite a lot of changes in the last couple of weeks. Back to how it kind of sounded when you arrived and how you expect this free port city to behave at nighttime.
00:23:30
Speaker
There are bards, there is smashing of glass, there is dancing, there is fighting, and there's lots of joviality sandwiched in between. You move through the city and as you get to that core central plaza, taking the most direct route from the alleyway to the harbor district, you encounter quite a large bunch of revelers, not connected in any way. There's just a group of people amassing.
00:23:56
Speaker
You've kind of come to notice the the last few weeks worth of evenings, people are taking the the evening entertainment out under the steel nightmare, still not sure what it actually is because that hasn't been sung yet, that hasn't been told.
00:24:11
Speaker
Though one of the outcomes of the meeting you just attended, should everyone be able to leave there and and spread to this message, is that Eryth in the morning will hear
00:24:27
Speaker
all of the prophecy of the 13th kingdom. And those looking at the sky tonight will be the last night they look to it with anything but fear.
00:24:39
Speaker
You pass by a group of quite rowdy dwarves that kind of block your way and they're very interested in this this um image of this single rider and and ah and a company of six surrounding them.
00:24:53
Speaker
And reminiscent of that journey you took to get here for the Jewel of the Desert Champions where you you

Setting Sail to Goldview

00:25:00
Speaker
camped by the roadside one night amongst other drunken revelers. Here, a lot of people are taking quite a lot of interest in what you're doing and it's becoming quite clear that you are being surrounded by by drunkards and and and other intoxicated individuals.
00:25:15
Speaker
As one dwarf just sort of walks straight up and goes, I like your pretty horse then, and tries to lay a big hand on it to attempt to stroke the horse. And everyone's kind of moving in at the same speed.
00:25:27
Speaker
there anything you want to do to kind of defuse this? Yes, Seth is going to draw his sword and point it at his throat. And the dwarf immediately puts his hand in, whoop! That's the shiny sword.
00:25:38
Speaker
I didn't mean anything, but is that a king? is that a rich person? Is that someone is that someone with money? Pointing Sparrowhawk on the steed. ah Seth's not going to say anything, but just continue walking and kind of push the blade into his chest. Not in like a blade blade edge way, but just kind of the the flat side of it to kind of just pushed push him back.
00:26:01
Speaker
A clear message of saying, and get the fuck back before I chop your head off. and Emron, you look like you're doing something also. ah I'm going to cast Thalmaturgy upon myself. Go for it. And make my voice really, really loud.
00:26:13
Speaker
And Emron will announce the crowd, back away from the undying champions. Back away. Make way for us. Get out of the way. And that's what I'm going to you roll a d4 for me? Break wings and not draw attention to ourselves.
00:26:27
Speaker
I can. On a four, and that speech was interrupted by thunder. Okay. Okay. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Two. Everyone heard all of it, and you see, slowly they begin to back away.
00:26:40
Speaker
Can I punctuate that with into the air and forwards, not towards a building or a person or an animal or anything like that, a 30-foot breath weapon? If it's darker.
00:26:53
Speaker
just Didn't mention an orphanage, though. That's true. That's true. Fuck. ah Yeah, that's what Baal's going to do. After that's been spoken, huge turret of flame from him as he's just kind of head down, making his way through the crowd.
00:27:09
Speaker
And then... on Sorry, Gordon, you make an intimidation check, Baal, while that's happening. And then, Seth, what are you doing? From the fire and the flames. Yes, that was Dragon Force reference. From the fire and the flames from that breath weapon, ah Seth's going to just whip a finger up and he's going to use Minor Illusion and make the impression that from the top of the flames, a small, almost dragon-like shape appears from the flames.
00:27:31
Speaker
um Just a five foot wide jobby. um Just on top of that, just to add a little bit of je ne sais quoi to Bahl's. Bahl, please roll at advantage. Oh, result. it's ah ah The normal roll is a 12, so fingers crossed I can do something. It's a 12.
00:27:49
Speaker
Got to get our brand out there, guys. Come on, Undying Champions. We're cool.
00:27:54
Speaker
The scene has changed somewhat.
00:27:58
Speaker
As you strolled into this quite busy section of the city, it's quite jovial spirit.
00:28:06
Speaker
And then...
00:28:09
Speaker
At the summoning of this fiery inferno, voices scream out in fear as they begin to clear this square in urgency.
00:28:30
Speaker
You've definitely cleared your route, but you may have scared a few people.
00:28:37
Speaker
It's fucking clip-clop, but will say, back to the group, nod at Emron. Let's go. And you make your familiar... That one says really loudly. Yeah, of course.
00:28:50
Speaker
You make your very familiar stroll then back to the harbour district.
00:28:57
Speaker
You notice, there it is, the severed compass moored up with four deckhands of the Osrin Isles on board. Its new cannons installed, equipped and ready for travel.
00:29:11
Speaker
And the pissed newt.
00:29:15
Speaker
Quiet. moderately Moderately full, but not not at a capacity that makes look busy. And this song. This song is playing out.
00:29:32
Speaker
A song that would be familiar to Seth, a song that would be familiar to Baal.
00:29:39
Speaker
Nix, Nix, maybe.
00:29:44
Speaker
But it was, it's a love song. It's a love song that was composed
00:29:52
Speaker
for the Queen of Sleetgaard.
00:29:57
Speaker
Queen Alyssa Sleetgaard.
00:30:01
Speaker
Sebastian's mother.
00:30:05
Speaker
Very rarely do you hear Sleekgarden music played in Dralak.
00:30:16
Speaker
Sparrowhawk visibly crying. Is the music coming from the pissed nude? Yeah, from so yeah and it's kind of like the the door is open and the sound is just spilling out into the dock.
00:30:30
Speaker
ah seth When we get close, we'll gently get Sparrowhawk down from the the phantom steed and awkwardly not know what to do with the crying man.
00:30:43
Speaker
um And we'll just pat him once on the shoulder, like too hard, um and then stand there awkwardly waiting for commands. Sparrowhawk kind of reciprocates the sort of attempt of comfort
00:31:00
Speaker
and is not interested in going to the Pistnut at all, and begins to walk onto the jetty and crosses the gangplank.
00:31:11
Speaker
Farrock's going to follow Sparrowhawk onto the deck, and knowing his command, knowing his place in the wing watch, he's just going to go straight to the cabin doors and open them, and he's just going to look at Sparrowhawk and say, For you.
00:31:30
Speaker
Sparrowhawk is split between keeping rank and saving face of this elusive organization he works for and being a prince and being in complete grief at the loss of his sister.
00:31:49
Speaker
Just kind of gives you a half attempted gesture in response. so guys So right.
00:31:58
Speaker
And goes into the cabin.
00:32:04
Speaker
Bile's going to just quickly pipe up. i It's rude to intrude. I don't think he should be by himself. We've just had ah fucking demons or devils burst up from the floor. There's been people infiltrating places that shouldn't have been infiltrated.
00:32:23
Speaker
I don't trust any of us to be alone. Also, the last time he was alone in a cabin on a boat, we nearly lost him. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That one. No, like, that yeah. i you do it You make a good point.
00:32:38
Speaker
So what did the five of you do? The Starok and Sparrowhawk are on board. Emron goes on board and goes to sort the bow of the ship. And I'm going to take out the sending stone that I was given.
00:32:52
Speaker
And I'm going to send a message to Dribbo. I mean, Drago. Mm-hmm. And I'm going to say, um we got Sparrowhawk out, leaving the city,
00:33:08
Speaker
taking him home. And that's what I send to Drago. And if he sends a reply, great. If not, I just want keeping him informed. ah fucking hate other people's voices in my head. Don't do this again.
00:33:24
Speaker
Oh, good. He's alive. Does he answer? so Does he not? you You don't get response yet. Okay, that's fine. So who else is going to do anything next?
00:33:35
Speaker
Yeah, Boll's definitely getting on board. i Out for it as well. Okay. Nick, tell us what you want us to do.
00:33:44
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, sure. Nix is ah taken aback and touched by the melodic tunes as he walks past the Pissnew and his eyes linger, uh, probably longer than the others on just the people singing and kind of reading the, the room and the temperature of the situation.
00:34:03
Speaker
um we'll just give a nod towards them. Uh, but at the sound of his name and a, uh, A direction. Like, yep, of course. um Okay.
00:34:18
Speaker
First thing, make sure that everything that's new on this ship is tied down. we don't want to lose it. Before you get a chance, as you step on that gangplank and you're beginning to reel off these instructions, so attempting to be authoritative, your first foot steps onto the deck and immediately all four of the hired...
00:34:42
Speaker
Sailors, the deckhands, stand at attention and one shouts, Captain on deck! And they stand at attention as you enter.
00:34:56
Speaker
Uh, yes! gi oh absolutely

Night Reflections and Plans

00:35:00
Speaker
Yes, yes, Captain on deck! ah and And ah what are your names? Sir, two humans and two dwarfs. The first human, the one who led on the captain on deck, shout, stares.
00:35:14
Speaker
Maris, Kelthorne, sir. This is Pike, and Jester's the other human. Jester's one of the dwarfs. This is Brotin.
00:35:25
Speaker
And this is Ty-Dye.
00:35:30
Speaker
And what race is Ty-Dye? Uddorf. It's T-I-D-E hyphen E-Y-E, but on purpose, it sounds like tie-dye.
00:35:44
Speaker
Nice. Well, this is the most wonderful welcomes. Are you guys the ones who brought all the stuff onto the ship, all the things that Tharok here had bought?
00:35:58
Speaker
Yes, sir. And you're responsible for installation, tying it down, making sure she doesn't move as we set sail. She's ready to sail, sir. Okay.
00:36:10
Speaker
Then have you guys sailed before? Nick looks appraisingly between the four of them. They give a quizzical look over to Seth, who hasn't yet ah come on deck.
00:36:24
Speaker
Yes, sir.
00:36:27
Speaker
ah Very well. Okay. Okay. Don't weigh anchor, prepare the ship for disembarking. Prepare to leave. And they just, one, quickly heads downstairs into the cabin and they they almost well can it help entirely well drilled begin preparations.
00:36:48
Speaker
nix is standing just slightly taller than usual in his high heel boots back straighter chest a little bit puffed out as uh as the following has just taken place and seth just catching the final verse of this song of sleet guard what is it you choose to do Yeah, he just he would have lingered a little bit longer at the song and at a time of joviality and of ease and just been drawn to that little slither of light and warmth and all that stuff and just for a second.
00:37:21
Speaker
And then we'll be snapped away by the dark cold of the sea and we'll move towards the boat and we'll walk across the gangplank.
00:37:32
Speaker
on board the ship um and have a quick look and maybe just nod if any of the four deckhands notice him. He just, he just slowly nod to them. kind of don't, I could see him.
00:37:45
Speaker
you're You're the coin purse here. They all notice you. They're very, but very receptive to your um appearance. So just nod and then Nithrava will um perk up on his shoulder now with a small eye patch over one eye and will say, All hands on deck, you god-rotted bastards! Move your asses before I kick them! Lose their body's sails! Aye, all aloft! All aloft! Don't stand there gawping or the sea will make hauls of us all!
00:38:11
Speaker
And there is this awkward silence as everyone's trying to figure out whether or not this creature has any authority. Seth will roll his eye and ah walk towards ah a point on the boat. He very obviously has no idea really what what to go.
00:38:24
Speaker
After a bit of like like wandering to and forth, it's getting in the way little bit. As people are moving things around and doing things that useful, he'll just do what he did before and climb up the crow's nest um and sit up there with Nithravar, looking down on everyone and just overseeing the the docks to make sure they aren't followed. And the sun is set at this point. It is dark, but...
00:38:45
Speaker
It's not impossible to navigate at night. You keep the shore in your sights. And on that same subject, Maris just shouts, do we have a heading, Captain?
00:39:00
Speaker
hi Sleet Guard.
00:39:04
Speaker
To Goldview? To Goldview.
00:39:08
Speaker
Away, Anchor.
00:39:10
Speaker
That's my line. As Nick crosses up to the quarter deck and takes his hands and places them on the wheel. and as you do, as you begin to take that position that you've dreamt of, at the very front of that wheel, stuck with webbing,
00:39:37
Speaker
is a hat.
00:39:41
Speaker
It's a black leather hat.
00:39:49
Speaker
Gay?
00:39:52
Speaker
Gay? Just plain black leather? As far as you can tell. Hmm... I can ah could dress this up later.
00:40:03
Speaker
When we get to Goldport, Nix will take the hat from the word date webbing and kind of take his off and plop it on his head. How does it fit onto the horns? theres like Does he have to poke holes through? kind of, yeah, pierce it through. Yeah, he's done this before. He'll just pull it down as you hear a slight tear of the leather as his horns kind of poke through.
00:40:25
Speaker
And as you do, your ship... No one else perceives this, just you, Nyx. Your ship just has this low, purple, bioluminescent glow to it.
00:40:43
Speaker
Holy fucking shit. ah Nyx says to himself... Okay. All right. It's cool. Sorry guys. Just dream moment here. Dream moment as he shakes his hands and shakes his shoulders, closes his eyes, take a deep breath in.
00:41:00
Speaker
Okay. Savvy. Way anchor. Captain. And a severed compass begins to make its journey.
00:41:13
Speaker
a Now, before I go through all this ragmarole of deciding the weather and telling you what's happening, Alpha, will you be controlling the weather in a direction for a favorable wind this evening?
00:41:26
Speaker
Absolutely, I shall. Perfect. So, and it is a northwesterly breeze, and Nick's... If the wind stayed as...
00:41:42
Speaker
supportive as it will do no doubt because alpha will continue to make it so it's a two day sale from capital to capital and nix would uh i think we're okay on bal's time still but nix would during the night only sail half mast uh so that we don't get hit by the the chop of the sea um and then would issue a ah ah well, he'd keep the heading of close to the ports to catch any light sources.
00:42:12
Speaker
um So it would be slower going of the evening. Okay, perfect. But you are all now watching. This time, as you're leaving Scorch Helm and it is not...
00:42:26
Speaker
emblazoned in conflict with steel giants and stone behemoths. It is not buzzing with ah with a festival spirit ah ah of a duel about to start.
00:42:40
Speaker
It is karma.
00:42:44
Speaker
It is piracy for all your adventure needs and and and feels.
00:42:52
Speaker
But after about 15 minutes, as it moves out of view, you're aware just how alone and quiet it is now.
00:43:02
Speaker
The six of you, Sparrowhawk, and the four sailors of the Osrin Isles that support this vessel, head out into open waters.
00:43:17
Speaker
Emron, sing us a sea shanty.
00:43:22
Speaker
What? A sea shanty. It'll help us sail through the night and lift the spirits. Okay. Hang on. I remember one from when we were in sailing across from Shadowment. So here we go.
00:43:40
Speaker
well i Come all you young sailor men, listen to me. I'll sing you song of the fish in the sea. And it's windy weather, boys, stormy weather, boys.
00:43:54
Speaker
When the wind blows, we're all together, boys. Blow ye winds westerly, blow ye winds blow. Jolly southwester, boys, steady she goes. Up jumps an eel with its slippery tail, climbs up aloft and then reefs the top sail.
00:44:09
Speaker
And it's windy weather, boys, stormy weather, boys. When the wind blows, we're all together, boys. Blow ye wind westerly, blow ye winds blow. Jolly southwester, boys, steady she goes.
00:44:22
Speaker
Then up jumps a shark with its nine rows of teeth, saying, you eat the dough, boys, and I'll eat the beef. And it's windy weather, boys, stormy weather, boys. When the wind blows, we're all together, boys.
00:44:34
Speaker
Blow ye wind westerly, blow ye wind blow. Jolly salwester, boys, steady she goes. Up jumps the whale, the largest of all. If you want any winds, well, I'll blow ye a squall.
00:44:46
Speaker
And it's windy weather, boys, stormy weather, boys. When the wind blows, we're all together, boys. Blow ye winds westerly, blow ye winds blow. Jolly southwester, boys, steady she goes.
00:44:58
Speaker
yeah yeah are are Well done, Will. Lots blowing in that. Lots of blowing in that. Lots of blowing. I love that. I know listeners, that sounds like he we planned that. That was not, that was off the cuff, planned, not planned.
00:45:15
Speaker
ah So Will, like, tip of the cap. You threw him under the ship hard. He has it prepared though there, just in case. got sea shanties in the back pocket. i've been there I picked my person perfectly.
00:45:29
Speaker
So. Hey Callum.
00:45:32
Speaker
Before we get too far into this. Let's not go down that road. Before we get too far into this. Mix is starting to hand out his bottomless mug. Let's go. Nice. Morale is raising, and I will take that into the DC I'm about to ask.
00:45:46
Speaker
But, Nyx, can you give us an embarkation role, please? ah Can I cast Guidance on myself? It is a skill check, yes. So this is ah a survival role, please.
00:45:59
Speaker
Okay. as we As we set the terms for how this journey ah begins. Survival is inbound. Okay.
00:46:10
Speaker
and The D4 is inbound. 16. Perfect. Thank you very much.
00:46:28
Speaker
the next time you fail a roll due to a disadvantage check, you can ah reroll the entire check based on that. So that that can happen anytime on this journey for anyone's role. But the next time you do something disadvantaged and it is another fail.
00:46:43
Speaker
Sorry, and it is a fail. You can re-roll as a straight roll.
00:46:49
Speaker
You move out into open waters. The night is yours. The night is calm. The wind is favorable. As every now and again, Alpha, you're just having to just re-usher it when you feel like that wind wants to change direction and you don't want it to.
00:47:06
Speaker
It's not uncommon for you not to see any ah other vessels at night. ah Most will in this area will be making port this close to land. Or will have left this area entirely given the events of the last couple of weeks.
00:47:20
Speaker
So treat this now as quiet time and to have the conversations you wish to have.
00:47:27
Speaker
If there are any. As we move close now to midnight. So... any activities after this we'll have to think about, whether we're resting or whether we're pressing on and getting exhausted and that sort of thing. But what would you like to for this sort of pre-midnight hour or so? Seth's going to fully go to sleep. You go, you go, you go, you go.
00:47:51
Speaker
You go. After me. Fuck you. Next is going to... Bala's going to sidle up. I'm going to let you finish, but I'm just going to...
00:48:03
Speaker
Always let me finish. Thank you. Uh, bar's going to sidle up next to Nick's pretty much from embarkation, like with a hand on his shoulder as well, probably seeing the raging erection Nick's commanding this crew.
00:48:17
Speaker
Um, uh, yeah. And he's there for that as well, but he will, um, as they kind of embark out at sea and be keeping an eye on things. Um, on his mind is probably the four days or so remaining that he has in Dralak until he's completely obliterated by Shondralakar. You're no longer in Dralak.
00:48:38
Speaker
That's what I mean. If that's, yeah yeah. If we're, if we're at seas, then he's like, ah, he's probably mulling over. Does she control the seas? No, probably not just the land. No, I'm good. Um, but he will just pipe up to Nyx and say, so this is what, what you've always wanted.
00:48:58
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, I guess so. Yeah. You ever had something that you fixate on, dream about? It comes unbidden in your thoughts when you're just doing day-to-day things.
00:49:13
Speaker
This was one of mine. Manning a crew, sailing a vessel, open water.
00:49:23
Speaker
And it's not lost on me. as Nick caresses the wooden wheel and just kind of takes in the ship. It's not lost on me to have all of you and to know me. We're just not free yet.
00:49:48
Speaker
And that's a big part of it too. That's why i wanted all of this. We're just not there yet. As Nix looks up towards the sky.

Kingdom's Future and Strategies

00:50:02
Speaker
can almost taste it though, right? I feel like we're getting close and I don't know if that's good or bad because there's hope.
00:50:17
Speaker
like a spark of hope that I haven't felt.
00:50:23
Speaker
At this point, I don't know if I've ever felt it.
00:50:27
Speaker
So I don't know if it's good or bad, but I'm willing to accept it as it is right now.
00:50:43
Speaker
I like that.
00:50:46
Speaker
And I like that, he nods to your hat. You can keep that on. Thanks. I'll bring it downstairs later on. I'm sure that Pike can sail the vessel. Hmm.
00:51:00
Speaker
We'll see.
00:51:02
Speaker
But does it look um rather dapper? Yeah, suits you. i don't know Like a captain. Yes, but I imagine a captain would have cut the holes out of their hat rather than just rammed it on.
00:51:16
Speaker
You know that's not how I do things. I know, I know. and i feel like it needs a feather in it, though, like a big, ornate feather. Some gold. It'd be great to have some gold.
00:51:29
Speaker
Could give it to Emron and see what he could do. I don't know if he's... I know he works with steel, but he might be able to work something into the leather. Maybe. It's worth a shot. I was going to ask, um
00:51:42
Speaker
this cape that I have on me
00:51:47
Speaker
I've not been able to take it off before. and Well, you know that. I don't wear it through choice overnight. Although, and I'd like it to be a choice. i was wondering, you mentioned before that you might be able to remove curses?
00:52:04
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, I...
00:52:08
Speaker
I read about it and I thought the whole prego thing, you know, and it might, it might help. And, um, I tried it on myself, uh, the other night and it didn't do anything.
00:52:20
Speaker
Um, but that doesn't mean to say that I'm pretty sure I cast it correctly. I felt the, I felt like I did, um,
00:52:33
Speaker
So yeah, I'm just gonna, and Nixle, just grab your hands and put them on the wheel just to steady it as he takes out his spell book out of his left pocket and just kind of flicks through it.
00:52:52
Speaker
As he's flicking through it and goes, you know what? The next time that we rest,
00:53:01
Speaker
I'll be able to channel that spell and we can see if it will work. Yeah, thank you. I mean, it's been really useful. It really has. just, I want it to be a choice.
00:53:13
Speaker
Yeah. So if I, if, if, if we break the curse, um, Nyx will gently take the wheel again. ah Does that mean that you'll, you'll be able to use the cape still? Because like you said, it's been, I don't know.
00:53:28
Speaker
Is it something that you want me to do? Soon or after? Well, I've got things that I can use to help the group with that would work really well, but I can't seem to connect with them whilst I've got this on. Okay.
00:53:48
Speaker
I don't know. I just feel like, a lot like you say, being able to prepare the night before. If I didn't have this today, I wouldn't have made it to Alpha. Okay. Yeah, that was... That was heavy.
00:54:02
Speaker
Um... i believe you oh i can believe In fact, i I... I knew full well that you were going to go diving on in there.
00:54:16
Speaker
I'm glad you're okay. What was it like? Awful.
00:54:23
Speaker
Awful.
00:54:26
Speaker
I felt drained.
00:54:31
Speaker
we
00:54:35
Speaker
It seems to have really affected Alpha.
00:54:39
Speaker
Yeah. i've I've seen him angry, like really angry. I've seen him heartbroken, but I've never seen him scared. Right.
00:54:57
Speaker
Right.
00:55:00
Speaker
and This trip's bringing out the best of all of us.
00:55:07
Speaker
Anyway, I want to see if I can catch a glimpse at midnight of that above. Sure. I felt something happen.
00:55:19
Speaker
Couldn't quite work it out. I want to get a better look tonight. so Okay. um Well, i'll be you know where I am and here for you. Thank you.
00:55:32
Speaker
Thank you ah for more that I could possibly put into words right now. And it's not the captain's way to say thank you, Bal. ah So, you know.
00:55:45
Speaker
Barl's going to give Nyx a peck on the cheek and then make his way fully to the stern of the ship. And obviously still casting an eye out, make sure there's no ah dangers around.
00:55:56
Speaker
But if it's coming up towards midnight, he's going to lie himself on his back and and basically keep a keen eye up on the steel nightmare. That's me.
00:56:09
Speaker
Therok Alpha? Farrakh is going to... Farrakh hasn't left the doors of the cabin. He stood there like a century. And then after a while, thought's going to come to him and he's going to go inside.
00:56:22
Speaker
He's going to, without saying anything, go over to a drinks cabinet that McBenner told him was in there. And he's going to take out a vintage rum made from silver drop dews from the great mountain of Dashkauri.
00:56:39
Speaker
He's going to smell it, knowing his rank and knowing the importance and the new importance that he's learned about Sparrowhawk. He's going to pour two glasses of this rum. He's going to neck one himself.
00:56:53
Speaker
He doesn't suspect it's poison, but... Just in case it is, he's he's effectively serving as the food taster and the wine tester for Sparrowhawk before he gives one to Sparrowhawk. And then what he does is he's going to just slide one over to Sparrowhawk. He's going to sit in the chair without saying anything.
00:57:12
Speaker
And then after a while, he's just going to take another sip of this rum. And he's then just going to say, without looking at Sparrowhawk, show... You're someone of great importance.
00:57:24
Speaker
I always thought that. All the times myself and McBenna walked you across those borders. He's going to let that silence sit for a bit if Sparrowhawk doesn't say anything back.
00:57:38
Speaker
And then after that silence for a bit more, he's going to say, he's going to process. He he doesn't know about, he doesn't know about Alyssa Sleekgaard, but he does know about Helena and he knows what Sparrowhawk has heard tonight.
00:57:51
Speaker
And he's going to just say, I was there at the Ember Scar. Myself and my friends, we we were charged with ensuring that nothing got within a certain distance to that tower.
00:58:04
Speaker
I saw your sister charge right through the lines of the dead. She's a terrific fighter.
00:58:13
Speaker
I know what you're trying to Daruk.
00:58:19
Speaker
Thank you. Would you like to be on your own?
00:58:25
Speaker
No. Just... Maybe not at
00:58:33
Speaker
all. I can't... I can't... I can't put words to this.
00:58:47
Speaker
Drago didn't believe she was dead. and from what I've seen of her fight you shouldn't believe it either I wouldn't believe it have we not learned about every other kingdom leader seconds before
00:59:10
Speaker
they're all gone
00:59:19
Speaker
And where that leave me? This is what's running through my head.
00:59:26
Speaker
i Am I to take the throne now? My brother won't.
00:59:34
Speaker
This is not a time to be a king. It's not. But as I'm willing to drink the rum to see if it's poisoned, I'm also willing to give my life if it means that you will keep yours, as I have done all the times that I have walked across that desert with you.
00:59:51
Speaker
McBenner may be gone, but whilst I am still here, you have a sword at your side. Thank you.
01:00:00
Speaker
Thank you.
01:00:04
Speaker
He'll pour another rum. And again, neck down it again and just take a deep breath this time and go, McBenna did say that this was the good stuff. And he'll slide the bottle over to Sparrowhawk.
01:00:18
Speaker
Maybe in the morning.
01:00:23
Speaker
Fair enough. And knowing that he doesn't seem to want to chat or he doesn't seem particularly talkative, which is fully understandable, Farrakh will sit with him in silence if that's what's needed.
01:00:39
Speaker
And he begins to every now and again just kind of sketch stuff down, whatever he can find, and then kind of scrunches it up and throws it away. And he's trying to calculate his thoughts and process grief at the same time. it's not It's not a cohesive picture. it's it's not a You're used to seeing this person incredibly well composed and strategic, and this is not that.
01:01:08
Speaker
This is incredibly vulnerable and and chaotic.
01:01:14
Speaker
But as you observe that over a number of hours, Alpha?
01:01:21
Speaker
Alpha has...
01:01:24
Speaker
how do calmed her down basically at this stage. He's started to reclimatize himself as we've gotten ah further and further away from ah Scorch Elm.
01:01:38
Speaker
He would have had so ah quick turnaround and look and just flashes of the ruins of Scorch Elm that he's seen while he was knocked out cold still ringing through his head at this stage
01:01:54
Speaker
he's He's felt intimidated before, but this is the first time, upon gazing on the creature, um this is like with pure intense fear.
01:02:09
Speaker
A creature with such demonic presence has rattled him to his very core, and he doesn't know how to deal with it, really, aside from just finding some way to comfort himself.
01:02:21
Speaker
So after a while of thinking just kind of altering the direction of the wind as and how he pulls from his satchel the last thing that he actually got from rains uh back technically from rains which i can't quite remember exactly but he's what he was using as his um like familiar-esque type of thing which i think was a parrot um Um, and he's almost kind of cradling it.
01:02:52
Speaker
It's all become like a comfort blanket to him at this stage with this intense kind of fear. Um, and and almost, almost like a child, he's kind of staring at it, uh, like a child would, uh, a stuffed toy or something similar. And he's just kind of caressing it, holding it, keeping it close to him.
01:03:14
Speaker
he He is scared beyond anything else at this stage and he doesn't know how to deal with it. So he's finding comfort in positive memories and he's finding comfort in Reims and what he meant to him the moment.
01:03:31
Speaker
As we approach midnight, is there anything else that you would be doing in your time, Emron? ah Can I cast identify on the reflective black shard I lose? Yes, absolutely.
01:03:46
Speaker
And for the purpose their listeners, tell us what what that involves. So I touch an object throughout the spell's casting. If the object is a magic item or some other magical object, you learn its properties and how to use them, whether it requires attunement and how many charges it has, if any.
01:04:00
Speaker
You learn whether any ongoing spells are affecting the item and what they are. If the item was created by a spell, you learn that spell's name.
01:04:11
Speaker
Well, this item is called the Cinderfang Shard, one of thousands that exist in planes of well and and various planes of hell.
01:04:25
Speaker
You've seen them before, but they're very, very rare on Erith. handling one, this is your first time really handling it. And it's sort of this jagged obsidian steel, like I described, with this incredible heat.
01:04:43
Speaker
When you hold it, you can cast Hellish Rebuke. First level, once, and then it shatters.
01:04:58
Speaker
Cool.
01:05:00
Speaker
And then if that takes a minute, I'd then try it on the black coins to see if they've got anything just in case. They have no magical properties. That's fine.
01:05:12
Speaker
Anything else you want to do with your time before? No, I will have been doing that and then I will chillax at the front of the boat. And Seth, did you say that you're hitting an early bedtime? Yeah, he would be. He'd have kept an eye out for a while, watched people kind of settle down and then settle down himself.
01:05:30
Speaker
ah Nithraba would have been perpetually looking out towards the sea, but like at a downward angle, like through the earth towards space and time beyond it, um and would stare unblinking all through the night, too not in a sentinel form or any, just for flavor.
01:05:46
Speaker
Just in a pensive pensive mood. Yeah, he's busy staring at a far-off galaxy six million years ago.
01:05:54
Speaker
Nice. Nice.
01:05:58
Speaker
Baal, then. As we hit midnight and the moments before, all of a sudden you sort of look around everyone and just kind of light shushes and you just take yourself in a way that you're not overhearing anyone else's conversation, that you can remain fully fixed on the steel nightmare.
01:06:21
Speaker
You haven't got like a watch or any means to take exact time. You're using the position of the actual moon. You're using what celestial navigational tools are at your your behest here.
01:06:36
Speaker
What you think is midnight takes maybe 20, 30 minutes before it's actually true

Night Watch and Dreams

01:06:40
Speaker
midnight and you're you're in this prime state for a while. so i'm going to need you to make a constitution um check for me.
01:06:50
Speaker
Oh, come on. Oh, why is it making me click that twice? Is it a concentration check, says my dice? Yes, it is. It was a 19, I believe.
01:07:02
Speaker
Thank you. an 18. And you're unresolved with this focus and unbroken.
01:07:16
Speaker
There is a very brief silvery glow that just kind of emits from the sky. And you'd only notice it if you were staring at it, kind of like a torch just ramping up a little bit brighter.
01:07:32
Speaker
At that moment, that glow happens.
01:07:37
Speaker
All 12 of the tethers that are coming out of the steel nightmare lose their tautness and just become flexed ever so slightly by a few meters.
01:07:49
Speaker
And you could you could only really visibly see this from the one that is attached south of Scorch Helm that is kind of overhead at this point for where you are.
01:08:01
Speaker
And then in about six seconds, 10 seconds, that rigidity, that tautness just flicks back in and that light dissipates and it looks exactly like it did 10 seconds before.
01:08:17
Speaker
But for those 10 seconds, it's like everything kind of let out a deep breath and then regained its it's solidity, if that makes sense. sense Yeah.
01:08:28
Speaker
Mm-hmm. and lying down and looking up and seeing that. and it's the second time he's seen it, but probably the first time he's seen that kind of slackening as well. he's he's He's got a million and one things going through his mind, um including Sebastian, including Shondralakar, including ah now Valkyraeth as well, and even Ghostwing talking about taking a group up there before the massive fucking ambush that they just encountered.
01:08:59
Speaker
And then also ringing through his mind is this idea that no one that's gone up there has been able to come back or hasn't come back or hasn't returned or anything like that. And those, ah just that that loosening, that rigidity kind of now is playing on his mind.
01:09:16
Speaker
And he he looks around the ship. Is everyone else still awake? um Yeah. home it's Most have gone to sleep.
01:09:28
Speaker
Apart from those that have elected to stay up. Is Alpha still on deck as well? Alpha's still on deck. um He hasn't moved, but his eyes are open. Cool.
01:09:39
Speaker
Bile's going to quickly get up and he's going to kind of move with haste to to next to Nyx, but he's going to shout down to Alpha very quickly and just say, Alpha, 20, 30 seconds ago, did you feel any different?
01:09:59
Speaker
um assuming not.
01:10:02
Speaker
You don't? No, no, not at all. Why? right And he's going to cast his eyes back up.
01:10:11
Speaker
Alpha will not look up as well. Okay. Alpha, you you can tell the time pretty precisely?
01:10:20
Speaker
I suppose so. How long ago was Midnight?
01:10:27
Speaker
Can i make some kind of, I don't know what kind of check I would need to make for that? I don't have any ability to keep track of time. Metawill is asking you whether or not you've... I thought you had the feet, didn't you? Have you still got that feet? Is this an ability you have? he mind No, i have I have no ability and or feet to keep track of time. Does Alphard not have keen mind?
01:10:48
Speaker
I always thought he did with his perfect memory. i That was from his scholar background. Oh... Yeah, it might be on the old, you know, D&D. Keen Mind is is something you... It's one where you know the time, where you know where north is all the time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah i i i I've never had that.
01:11:08
Speaker
Okay, never mind. I always thought we were taking the piss of him for probably about two and a half years of playing. ah Specifically for that. That is on me, not him. That's fine. Not a problem. um Yeah, if he if he's not too sure, but I'll just go...
01:11:24
Speaker
I think there's a 10-second window. of weakness up there, midnight.
01:11:33
Speaker
I've seen it a couple of times now.
01:11:36
Speaker
Obviously it can't work tonight, it's been and gone. but In a further night, look up. I'm pretty sure midnight was about a minute ago, maybe a minute and a half now, and there is definitely a change. there's it's It's like it loses its energy for 10 seconds or so maybe. be
01:11:57
Speaker
Like a door? I don't know. there's no no Nothing opens up. It just it it it changes. Something within its structure changes. it it It slackens in some way. Does that mean that... I don't know. Obviously, we've not even been up there. We've not even seen anything like it. But if no one's been able to come back yet, maybe they haven't tried it between then.
01:12:23
Speaker
It is just difficult for perpetual energy and perpetual power.
01:12:29
Speaker
maybe... Even I need to rest. Perhaps there is a moment of lacking. ah rest. As you say, a weakness. Ten seconds of rest.
01:12:42
Speaker
I need to... Well, if it's a spell that's holding it all together... I don't know, maybe it's a change of the guard or something like that. It's a group of people trying to keep the shields up and they have to change so they can, like Alpha says, recharge.
01:12:59
Speaker
It's something. Oh,
01:13:05
Speaker
shit. No ship. No.
01:13:12
Speaker
Ghostwing isn't going up there, surely. Not after what just happened.
01:13:19
Speaker
That was the plan, right? He was going to take a team.
01:13:24
Speaker
I still would say that's the plan. You think? Yeah. We're sticking with ours. I see no reason why they would not falter. You think we need to get in touch? Hasn't Emron got a sending stone?
01:13:41
Speaker
There is... Pulse... Baal is split in half here. He wants to say things to these two people, but he's equally remembering his conversation with Ghostwing, in which it was ultimate confidence between those two.
01:14:02
Speaker
Oh, do I read that on your face that you're trying to hold it something in? Yeah, definitely. There'll be a second of contemplation.
01:14:14
Speaker
Oh, yeah, no, insight chest ah check on that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Insight chest. Insight chest. ah Yeah, got 15 on the insight check. yeah Not just to see if you're holding something in.
01:14:29
Speaker
Very apt. Alpha got one with a minus one for a zero, so I seen fuck all. Nice. Well, it's up to you how you want to do this, how you want to see if you can beat that tell, but...
01:14:41
Speaker
If you're trying to disguise yourself, deception might be a thing appropriate. He's not necessarily disguising it, he's just not revealing it. Yeah, and Nyx isn't... I mean, what we'll see what Nyx does next, but he's just seeing what's playing on your face, see if he can see a furrowed brow, or concentration, or trying to...
01:15:03
Speaker
shape the conversation away from any details because nyx is a master at that so if you aren't trying to hide it bal then nyx would nyx will perceive that you are withholding something with that role see if you cool yes okay so yes nyx you believe he's holding some information back
01:15:28
Speaker
you'll fuck on me
01:15:39
Speaker
Oh. W, W, N, D, bro.
01:15:44
Speaker
That's what I'm, that's, that's, that's, that's just what I'm, what I'm um i am just doing a quick little read.
01:16:04
Speaker
over my telekinesis as hi
01:16:10
Speaker
Nick's going to probe Paul, but through the mind for a change. um Ah, that count. That's good.
01:16:21
Speaker
I don't know if can.
01:16:25
Speaker
ah not for No. No. Okay. I can't. have Unfortunately. Oh, oh, oh.
01:16:36
Speaker
This is suspenseful. This a rollercoaster. What is happening? D&D beyond education right now. Fuck it. I'm sorry. Oh,
01:16:46
Speaker
oh I'm going to do it shifty as well. Can I do it shifty? Can I do it shifty? I'm sorry, guys. I'm sorry. It's right. Take your time. You can edit this out. Yeah, I think Ian's still learning his character.
01:16:57
Speaker
yeahwi He'll definitely edit it out now. i I can do... Oh, no, I don't have... No, I can't do it. Can't do it. Was going to make a subtle spell and read your mind.
01:17:10
Speaker
But I can't do it. So, Nix is trying... That's his thought process. that All of this is like, oh, I really want to read his mind. Cool. Cool. There you go.
01:17:22
Speaker
He tries to, but the the well that he uses to tap into is dry at the moment. So there's ah there's a slight tick happening on Nix's face as he just can't and do what he wants.
01:17:37
Speaker
Bar, your passive perception means you're probably aware Nix thinks you're withholding something. Yeah. As we put the spotlight back to you. yeah yeah. What Bar will do then is he'll say...
01:17:52
Speaker
I think Ghostwing's plan was to,
01:18:01
Speaker
with the aid of Dragonkind, make his way up there. But the trouble is with the leaders of Sleekguard, with the leaders of Aerith, all of them,
01:18:15
Speaker
gone, killed, removed in some way, then all of the dragon lords, the dragon matriarchs, they're all going to be weakened.
01:18:30
Speaker
So I don't think that that's going to be as easy anymore for his group. But we've got...
01:18:42
Speaker
We've got an option to... After maybe if we do everything with Delmontrace to do it ourselves. And I need your help, Nix. yeah Yeah, um... Anything I can do, Barl. Especially for you. You know this.
01:18:56
Speaker
But we don't want to send word? No. Not yet. but We don't even know where they'll be, what what state they'll be in. We can only control what...
01:19:10
Speaker
we have around us and what we have around us is an opportunity. Savvy. I need you to convince... and he's going to look around. are there any of the deckhands nearby?
01:19:24
Speaker
and Not nearby. they now and They're now in resting rotation, so there's only one doing something away! but ah quiet what he'll say He'll say it quietly so that only Alpha and Nyx can hear.
01:19:36
Speaker
What we need, or what I need, is I need you to convince Sebastian to take the throne of sleepguard.
01:19:53
Speaker
I've done some convincing in my time. And then Nix will watch himself as his voice went too high and too loud.
01:20:05
Speaker
But convincing someone to take a throne? Fuck it. That's a new challenge, isn't it? Yeah. ah oh i i ah I'll do it.
01:20:16
Speaker
I can do it.
01:20:19
Speaker
Why?
01:20:21
Speaker
But if that doesn't happen, I think we're fucked.
01:20:27
Speaker
We as in the Undying Champions or we as in Aerith? Barl's going to put a finger to Nyx's lips.
01:20:37
Speaker
Valkyraeth will reclaim her true power.
01:20:45
Speaker
The power of the matriarchs if there is a rightful ruler on the throne of Sleetgard. Valkyraeth.
01:20:57
Speaker
My mother's heir. You'll gain power if he is on that throne, he's he's the next one. if If that happens, she'll be able to help.
01:21:09
Speaker
She'll be maybe the only dragon on Ereth with the power to help.
01:21:23
Speaker
hear you and haven't seen ah big old dragon fight. I understand. and we're And we're heading towards Sleek Guard. So it's like, would it work if I was just like, oh, you look tired. Take a seat.
01:21:37
Speaker
And just so happens the throne is right there. Would that kind of help? Do you think that would work? Something tells me the ancient magics of Aerith probably require something more committed than an arse reaching a seat.
01:21:57
Speaker
I'm just throwing ideas out there. Well, no, but I don't know, Nick. no No bad ideas, but I i don't know. i Kind of just like fake a yawn. oh Oh, I'm tired. Aren't you tired? And then just kind of lead him over. like ah He seems pretty old and useless.
01:22:11
Speaker
like We could just kind of... Put him there. um but But, but, but, but, to your point. Okay. I'll take that challenge on. The utmost righteousness.
01:22:25
Speaker
He needs protection as well.
01:22:30
Speaker
I'm not the right person for that one. No, I know. I don't think anyone is, but. but That Tharok guy seems pretty handy. We could, he also likes to stand around being all quiet and solitary.
01:22:43
Speaker
yeah but we're going to need him where we're going. Because, like it or not, in just over 50 days, and Baal casts his eyes upwards.
01:22:57
Speaker
And we're up there.
01:23:03
Speaker
We could make the ship fly, right? like We could ascend. Ascend. Maybe just thoughts again. Okay. I know what I'm doing. I know what I have to do. Hmm. Okay.
01:23:14
Speaker
Maybe we need to talk to Seth. Like he's super close with Sebastian. Like those guys are as Nick's crosses his fingers in front of Alpha and Baal to represent col close.
01:23:26
Speaker
Like.
01:23:29
Speaker
Yeah. Okay. Okay.
01:23:34
Speaker
That's probably one more thing, I'll,
01:23:38
Speaker
I'll wait until the morning, till we're all together.
01:23:44
Speaker
You know, I'm not the most patient of tieflings.
01:23:49
Speaker
Sure, there's nothing on your mind, I'll let you... I'm not saying I want to read it. I'm not going to read it, but like, you know, i could, I won't. Yes? I love to tease.
01:24:01
Speaker
Oh, Paul's going to head down into cabins below. was kind of got a blank look on his face as you normally don't. I don't get it.
01:24:13
Speaker
No, it does mean though, do you still need sleep? Because I need someone want to man the steering wheel because I'm about to get some. i can ah can oh
01:24:25
Speaker
I can hold the wheel for a bit if you need rest. ah You need rest, though, don't you? You've got crew as well. Yeah, I know. Brot, Brot, tie-dye. Is asleep.
01:24:36
Speaker
Currently, it's Maris who's on the first watch. Maris! Captain. Get your human butt over here. Have you sailed before? like Like, manned a vessel? Like, helmed it?
01:24:48
Speaker
Yes, Captain. I was the first mate of, well, the pride of the Osrin Navy that no longer exists. Not by my own fault.
01:25:00
Speaker
Been there, Maris. Been there. Not by my own fault either. Okay, congratulations. You are promoted to first mate again, Maris. Thank you Captain. No, thank you. ah Steady as she goes.
01:25:11
Speaker
Stay close to the port. Keep the wind in the sails. Keep it at half mass. We don't want to be moving too quickly through these waters. Try and keep us steady. precious cargo on board.
01:25:23
Speaker
So what if the wind um they kind of like looks puzzled at Alpha? If the wind isn't heading favorably in our direction, draw the masks up and just drift.
01:25:37
Speaker
Anything untowards and you need to drop anchor? I'll leave it to your best judgment. Keep us safe. Sir.
01:25:47
Speaker
Savvy. Right. um And with a slight pep in his step, Nyx is going to run downstairs. Nice.
01:25:58
Speaker
Emron, you're sleeping.
01:26:01
Speaker
Yep.
01:26:05
Speaker
You have a dream. I dreamed a dream. You have the dream. You have... Nearly every single night now happens exactly as you're expecting.
01:26:19
Speaker
The events on the platform entering into the city, moving up through a great palisade, pointing towards a large, large palace.
01:26:36
Speaker
Time fast forwards a little bit now and you find yourself within a silvery metal hallway, a grand hall with staircases leading in about four different directions, east, north, northeast and west.
01:26:53
Speaker
You stand
01:26:58
Speaker
upon a newly felled large steel creature, that stone porcupine type creature that invaded immediately after the Jewel of the Desert Champions, the one that Prego had you all run from.
01:27:14
Speaker
One of those lies slain in this hall.
01:27:18
Speaker
As Drago lifts Dengon's deception out of its neck,
01:27:26
Speaker
In this chamber is you, is Drago, is this female form and this dwarven form.
01:27:38
Speaker
And there are two others.
01:27:44
Speaker
One is Prego the Majestic, much younger, less tattooed, cleaner skin, not carrying most of the equipment that you've seen him use.
01:28:02
Speaker
And the other
01:28:07
Speaker
is a figure that's shrouded in the same cordon light that prevents you from seeing the female figure in the and the dream.
01:28:17
Speaker
And you wake and you feel the rush of battle that you have not had
01:28:25
Speaker
but you feel that adrenaline pumping. Your hand feels feels like you've recently used your hammer. There's that reverberance in it that kind of pulses at your fingertips. And then you notice a glowing blue light coming from the stone in your pocket.
01:28:47
Speaker
And yes, the sounds of two of your friends having an intimate moment on the other side of the cabin. and
01:28:57
Speaker
there anything you want to do in this moment? um I'll take out the sending stone that I assume is glowing. You press it to your temple and you hear Drago's words.
01:29:09
Speaker
The nightmare must end. Going to hell with Red Rook.
01:29:19
Speaker
Tell him, Dandelion.
01:29:31
Speaker
And one by one, as dawn slowly begins to break, you will wake from a long rest, fully healed, fully recovered, and fully leveled up.
01:29:49
Speaker
And that's where we're going to end this week's episode of the Felicia from Saber Shop. Yeah! If you were going to use a sound effect, that would have been the good point. Oh, man.
01:30:00
Speaker
Sound effect was in my pants. Yeah, Nixon barbler at each other. There's constant drum roll. It's like a wet slap. Oh, my

He came to the recording, listeners, with a fresh apple pie. And I'm not even joking. And in the middle of the apple pie... was a hole carved out of it. How he made that, he hasn't told us. Could have been an ice cream scoop.
