Introduction and Humor

Speaker
It feels like this is like Yuffie in front of Antsy 7, entirely skippable.
00:00:22
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to tonight's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play 5e podcast set in the disputed lands of the Verandian jungle in the magical homebrew world of

The Jungle Battle Recap

00:00:34
Speaker
Eryth. My name is Darren and I'm going to run some D&D for you this evening. These are the Shadowmen Tales. And with me tonight, we have playing the human ranger McBenna, Will. I preferred it when we were called the Fellowship of the Tableplop.
00:00:50
Speaker
Why? We wanted to let that one go. Why, Will? Don't at me. Because, you know, it's just funny. Playing the Dragonborn Paladin Drago, we have Ian. What up? And, brother, where art thou? Playing the Dragonborn Rogue Syengar, we have Mark.
00:01:14
Speaker
What's down? Let's see what you did there. Now, after many many weeks of me absolutely churning up the introduction, we've decided to sack me and bring back the epic voiceover guy. Will hit us with it.
00:01:34
Speaker
Previously on the Fellowship of the Tabletop, that's right listeners, your favourite old voiceover guy is back. So, what happened last week I asked, well, it was time for a rumble in the jungle. The party had made camp and all was quiet.
00:01:56
Speaker
when suddenly something in the darkness stirred. Vicious prongs spewed out of the darkness, striking the trees around them.

Confrontation with Drago's Past

00:02:07
Speaker
Using his brain, Macbennar actually threw a light so everyone could actually see something rather than just blazing into the darkness. And there, the manticores emerged. Drago strode out to fight them, Macbennar hanging back because he's good with a bow.
00:02:24
Speaker
started to fight them. And then a second arrived, and it all looked a little bit hairy. When suddenly from the darkness, aid appeared. The battle was fraught. Macbenna nearly died. Wren, well, she was really useful, actually. Drago slayed a manticore. And when the battle had ended, a cloaked figure emerged from the darkness.
00:02:53
Speaker
His blade at Drago's throat as Drago knelt healing Macbennar. This mysterious masked figure spoke. And after a confrontation which nearly resulted in yet more combat, the person cloaked figure reached around Drago's head, gripped him from behind, lowered his mask, and his voice issued forth.
00:03:23
Speaker
You wronged me because my brother died. The drago I know is dead. And as the silence of the night continues to just play out in this this tableau of these two dragonborns staring down at each other, that is where we will resume, precisely where we left off.
00:03:54
Speaker
What do you want to do? It can't be. I don't know what you think you're looking at, but you cannot exist. Whatever you are, mimic form, creature of the night, something from the under dark. This is not, this is not real.
00:04:19
Speaker
Well, listen here, mate. You don't know. This here is Drago. He's a hero of Aerith, and quite frankly, you better watch yourself, because he's a pretty big deal around here. Well, not here. Over in... Over in... Sleepguard. Sleepguard, that's it. Yeah. But this is Drago. I don't know who you are. But Drago... He's a hero. I'm going to ask you one last time. His eyes are still fixed on Drago.
00:04:48
Speaker
Reveal who you truly are. Reveal what you truly are so I can fight you. Drago's both hands are up. But still with a look of confusion in his own eyes towards you. This is no illusion on my part. No trickery. No mask. I am Drago. Son of Dengon.
00:05:17
Speaker
And I can't understand how it's possible that my younger brother Saingar is stood opposite me.
00:05:35
Speaker
takes a step back, and then a step forward again, blade still pressed against your neck, but it's moved from the tip to the edge of the blade, up against the throat, and you can always feel it moving up the skin of your scales. Then tell me, figure of my brother. You mention our father, our father, my father. Where did our father fall? Dangan fell.
00:06:06
Speaker
Many years ago, on the mountains of the Icewind Dales, after we, myself, my father Dengon, and my brother Sayangar, were tasked to defeat a horde of Kolboruts. And in the midst of that battle, darkness that enshrouded him,
00:06:37
Speaker
And then on that day, not soon after, you died too. How could I be here if I died? I couldn't find you. You don't think that the same is true for me? You don't think that I tried searching for you? Did you ever find a body? You disappeared. What else were we supposed to decide upon? Without Father there either, I have no choice.
00:07:12
Speaker
very deeply confused about what's happening. I just, just give me one moment, keep the sword at my neck. One moment, he pulls the sword away, she's the short sword. We don't have a moment.
00:07:30
Speaker
The jungle's dark, it just gets more dangerous. Yes, it's not as dangerous as me. And Drago will grab the amulet around his neck and just send a thought up to Akiva and just ask, is this your doing?

Mysteries of the Jungle

00:07:43
Speaker
And is this true? Is Sayangar actually stood in front of me? Do I get anything? As always, you're in a very different part of the world to Akiva. To test the connection to your deity, I'm going to need a religion check.
00:08:01
Speaker
That is very fair. Whilst this is going on, Simon goes constantly kind of shifting his gaze and looking over his shoulder and every now and then just stares out into the darkness for a few seconds before looking slowly back towards the party. That was a solitary eight.
00:08:22
Speaker
You don't get anything back from Akiva, but as you glance at this Dragonborn, stood across from you, if this is a deception, it is a faultless deception. Yeah, I'm not really thinking it's a deception. I'm just trying to work through the cloud of confusion. I haven't seen this other Dragonborn, my brother, since that night where Dengon was slain.
00:08:51
Speaker
And Drago, put down your false god and listen. Steady. How did you get here? Me. Ren's going to direct towards you, Syngar, noting Drago's confusion. You said you were together, I assume that was on the Sword Coast. Well, we're not on the Sword Coast anymore. Any others? He looks re-dispondent at that. Nowhere near.
00:09:21
Speaker
I mean, some of us don't even know where it's all coast is. So, uh, quite frankly, after I thought I buried the rest of our kin. So my thoughts to our family, the loss of our father and my brother, this is directed towards run. There was a flash, a voice. And then I was down and there was dirt and there was mud.
00:09:51
Speaker
And I came to, when I was in this place, this shadow mend. I didn't know what to do with myself. I thought maybe trick of the magic of the gnolls, of the kobolds, of the magic that took my father. I walked to the nearest town or settlement and enlisted as a gladiator. They had cage fighting and the like. I was quite good at it, unsurprisingly.
00:10:21
Speaker
bore you with much else, but a series of conversations took place. I find work, I find employment. That was a very powerful benefactor. And then I turned on that powerful benefactor when it suited me and when I thought no longer needed their presence. In doing so, I left and I headed out here. And for the last few
00:10:44
Speaker
years, months, whatever it is. I've lived out in this jungle, in this place, in this wilderness, surviving without a purpose, just killing time, killing the creatures in there, just killing everything except the one thing I want to kill, to end it all. But here I am. And now here you are.
00:11:12
Speaker
So you weren't the one that was dropped off six months ago there? Six months. That's how long it's been, is it? Who told you that? We were, uh, we, we met, yeah, we met the fleet who you took the boy to.
00:11:32
Speaker
I used the name Drago, if indeed you are, whom I still do not believe is the case, but I used the name Drago because for me, the name Syengar had died on the Sword Coast, and with that, my brother and my father, and I wanted to hold some semblance of memory of my family. I couldn't take my father's name. I felt too heavy on my heart, but I thought my brother, at least I can carry his memory on in this place,
00:12:01
Speaker
Steingeier as a name means nothing to me. I didn't realize Drago still had so much weight as a name even here, even taken from one place where he was renowned and drop him off in an entirely different place and all of a sudden Drago, the older brother, rules the kingdom and becomes a hero. Who would have thought? And he's slight smile at that.
00:12:29
Speaker
There's a lot to unpick here. We need time. We need time. I need time. Here is not the place, though. No, we don't have time because we're searching for a guy who's wronged us. As Drago looks towards McBenna. And we... Making it appointedly stare at you. And we are wasting time when he could be moving on.
00:12:58
Speaker
Right. I don't know, this person is that you have, that has wronged you in some way. I care little. But I know this.
00:13:08
Speaker
I will figure out what you are. I'm still not sure. But here, in the night, at this point in the jungle, is not a good place to be. Please trust me when I say that. Six months of rowing these parts, you learn the wares and movements of some of the creatures here. What we've just encountered is just the tip of the spear, so to speak. I suppose we can break camp.
00:13:35
Speaker
We've all had a little bit of a rest. It's not a normal night. Are we ready to go blundering around in dark? Yeah, you two can't see in the dark. I'm a little uneasy about this moving at a pace where you two can't see. I mean, surely carrying torches in the dark.
00:13:56
Speaker
that can be seen by whatever's out there will make as much more of a target than this year. And McBenna will turn and gesture to the natural bowl that's formed that they've used for the camp by the tree trunks. It's almost like a little defensive horseshoe. There is no way will I be able to get some sleep after this. I'm going to walk on and try and find Carl.
00:14:23
Speaker
while the tracks are still fresh and take the time to think over recent events no you you're right if we if we keep going now i can pick up tracks and we can steal a night on him we were gaining on him we can steal a night's march
00:14:46
Speaker
And we can be within spitting distance of that little bastard. I know we cannot see in the dark, but any gestures down to the large mask he now hangs around his head with the long tusks. With this, I can. You let me lead. You tell me which direction you're going. I can be your eyes, at least, to watch for dangers and predators to keep us off the path that most likely the enemy will be. And we can follow your person who has wronged you.
00:15:14
Speaker
We're heading towards Dash Kalar. The city, Kalry. Thanks. Thanks, Jungle Pigeon. Aye, towards Aerith's gift. Following the river upstream. Aye. Once we get the river, though, it'll be better. They don't tend to drink at night. And when they do, you'll know.
00:15:40
Speaker
Let's go over from the tree so the moon should shine through too. You might be able to pick up a bit more tracks. What's your name, human? McBenna. McBenna. I'm not calling you Drago for now, are we? All right. Great, then. And McBenna will reluctantly, he'll put his bow away, he'll pack up his stuff, light a torch,
00:16:12
Speaker
Read it then. Sankar pulls up the mask and puts it over and he's going to just kind of start walking off in the direction towards the river to follow up towards Dashkara. I'm Ren. She'll say as you start to walk off. As he's walking he'll just every now and then turn to whoever's behind him and here kind of muffled through the mask different things like he points to a different flower and goes don't eat that your eyes will pop.
00:16:41
Speaker
Don't touch that one, your feet will swell. He's like warning you of all this poisonous shit.

Reflections and Encounters

00:16:45
Speaker
Your shit blood if you eat that, trust me. He's just giving all these different things. You'll only have wet dreams if you, yeah, he keeps walking up and every now and then just matters more maybe to himself than anyone else. He'll have an erection for days. So I've got more written down. Yeah, as he walks.
00:17:05
Speaker
Dragos just keeping at the back of this newfound group. As far back but still within distance so he doesn't lose him. And... oh boy. His head is exploding. However, he will just also give himself a moment as he grasps the amulet and just kind of... touch his own shoulder and does a cure wounds on himself.
00:17:34
Speaker
Because that last battle was mighty heavy. Oh, that was awful. Three points. Oh, God. Still learning. Still learning. Oh, no.
00:17:44
Speaker
As I assume that we've fallen into a de facto marching order of Syengar, Ren's going to fall in next to McBenna sensing the tension in Drago, but she is continually just just glancing over her shoulder back at him just to just to check if he's okay. Followed brow, keeping himself to himself. Very like fuck off stamped across his forehead kind of motion going on right now and
00:18:13
Speaker
I like if you could then zoom the camera into Drago's mind it's going over the final battle with the kobolds, how dengol was taken, the last moments you saw Syengar, the flash of thunder as the weather and the rain was kind of pouring down during the battles and it's all just kind of
00:18:36
Speaker
transpiring in like snapshot events, like a flash of thunder, image of Syengar, flash of thunder, Dengon being taken away, flash of thunder, kobol going down to one of his axes, and it's just this kind of weird whirlpool of events leading to Drago being transported to Eryth on the mission to find Grazet, the shadow that killed Dengon, and
00:19:02
Speaker
trying to piece together what Syengar must have been doing while Drago was doing all of that. So it's this, but also flashing back to Syengar and like, is that Syengar? What the fuck is happening? Akiva, is this your doing? Akiva, is this your doing? Why are you playing with us? So there's a lot of confusion going on. It's a mess. Good season two recap.
00:19:27
Speaker
As you're walking, Ren is just going to come up to you, McBenna, and say, you seem to recognize those creatures. Have you seen them before? Manticores, they're tough beasts. We've had, I've faced a couple in the canyons around Shadow Med.
00:19:55
Speaker
Yeah, I've seen them and other things that are monstrous and not pleasant. But you did well, Lass, well done. Yeah, I'm pretty good at helping others, but I'm not too useful in the fight myself, I'm sorry. No, no, no, nothing to be sorry about, Lass. Helping others, you know, without you, without what you did to me, well, I felt
00:20:25
Speaker
Felt like a young man again. I'm sorry about that. I'm sorry about that. It was like being young. It was nice to remember what it was like. Sure. Haste has its kickbacks, as you saw. Robin used to hate it, but it made him a quicker shot and, well, worked for you as well.
00:20:55
Speaker
I'm at better or pause a minute. He'll look around because he's still trying to make sure they're following Khajit's trail. Yeah. As you do that, do you want to give me a survival check? In fact, he's a cat. Let's have animal handling.
00:21:12
Speaker
It's track back as a cat. No, that's me doing a thing. Survival states tracking. Oh, OK. I'll let you real survive. And then I thought you said you are tracking Carl G, though. Yeah, just to just. Yeah, I'm tracking. I'm tracking bastard, bastard face. Carl G. Yeah, he's not going to ride him. Yeah. Well, yeah. I mean, not to tell you how to run the game, Darren, but, you know, well, even I even I should go into that. That's saying something. That's a 22.
00:21:41
Speaker
Yeah, as you glance down, you know as well as you do that there's no obvious sign of tracks because you're walking over quite thick overgrowth. This is not a trodden path here. However, this jungle is thick, it's dense, it's dangerous. And Karl, like you, as far as you were aware, only has the verandium river that leads up to Aerith's gift to follow. Karl has to be on this path if he wants a shored way to dash Kalray.
00:22:11
Speaker
A few other things pass through your mind with a 22 on a survival. You think about Manticores and you think about how it's effectively said in the Sister Hold Lyceum that a Manticore is a manifestation of the chaos and darkness that forms in the Gorge of Sautmer that documents shadow men's borders. Finding one
00:22:32
Speaker
the rainier very much their job is to go into the gorge and eliminate these things before they can take flight before that they're fully grown to take flight because they are they are malicious they're cruel they they they
00:22:48
Speaker
Enjoy cruelty. That's one of the strange things about these monstrosities and Finding two in the verandian is very much a it's a bit of a daunting moment It's a very much a there's no dire wolf south of the wall type of moment. It's a if these things have gotten out of the gorge. It's It's what else has yeah. Yeah. Yeah It's a
00:23:14
Speaker
Yeah, those manticores, I've spent my years hunting them, and they're like, and they're ill, and all sorts of horribleness that have manifested itself, and if they're here, then there's some shit in this woods that we don't want to see, even in daylight. I'm at bed also, sorry.
00:23:44
Speaker
Your rem will just slap her neck. I'm god damn sick of the mosquitoes. Right, um, here, try this. The MacBennar will pull out a little pop and he'll say, try this. It smells, but it keeps him aware. She takes it and snips. Thanks, I guess. Do I... Do I... Is this like a lotion or do I... Yeah, you just dab it on where they've bitten you and it'll... Oh, okay. Yeah, you rub the lotion on.
00:24:16
Speaker
And as you continue to make your way through the jungle, you march for a few more hours and then soul starts to rise. I'm just going to roll on my random jungle table to find out what sort of things you encounter, so... Your jungle table? I made a jungle table. I made a jungle table. Yeah, must be a jungle table. What kind of shit happens on the table plot? All sorts of stuff happens on the fellowship of the table plot.
00:24:47
Speaker
As you continue to make your way through the jungle, the riven starts to widen the meander but you're able to follow it true. You do notice as the sun starts to rise that there appears to be something rustling in the trees up ahead and you see what appears to be these large shaped wings just start to take off and fly. They don't appear to be interested in you.
00:25:12
Speaker
Ren and if Drago wasn't still going through the manifestation to be there in mind, we'd probably find this to be quite a wondrous sight, but Ren is in awe of it. You see what appears to be a herd of pterodactyls taking flight and setting off for a morning's venture to try and find food, not interested in what clearly looks like too difficult prey for you.
00:25:37
Speaker
As the sun starts to rise, it is a particularly warm day today. Again, for you, Drago, this would, of yesterday, have been of great irritation to you, but you're probably- Still is. Still is. Even in my mind, I'm a sweaty bastard. And as you're making your way along, you, Syengar, immediately are able to, at one point, just, in fact, let's not assume you'd be able to do this. Can you also give me a survival role at the front of the party, please?
00:26:09
Speaker
Is he broken? You, you're Syngar. We asked you for a role. You're Syngar. I thought you were... I'm sorry, I thought you were waiting on... I thought you were waiting on... Oh no, you! No, it was on you! I'm so sorry. So Ian, so what you have to do is you have to pull them out, you bring up your character, you press survival and it'll roll the dice for you. I'm so sorry, I got a natural one, so sticks.
00:26:31
Speaker
Six, okay. Yeah, you all of a sudden notice these quite strange tracks on the floor. They're quite noticeable tracks, but with a natural one, you have no idea what they are. But they appear to be of a significant size and they're not a creature that you recognize. I pause everyone and kind of hold up a hand.
00:26:52
Speaker
probably no one would pay any attention but that's okay and then i just point down to the tracks and say through the through the echoey bug shaped mask with the long tusks something's warped here something big Mcbenna will just crouch down for a moment um can i try and see what left them yes mate just something big i don't need survival from you Mcbenna it's Manticore this is another Manticore track how old
00:27:23
Speaker
Uh, now I'll ask for, it's probably, I am going to ask for animal handling this time because it is, it is like a discerning tracks. Okay. Uh, can I get advantage? Cause I'm calling you about my favorite enemy. It's probably pretty close to its birthday, if you're being honest. Oh, that was good. You said how old? Oh, that was good advantage. That's a, that's a 24 on that role. You totally ignored me. Thanks. Well.
00:27:49
Speaker
These could be at any time in the last 24 hours. They're relatively fresh.

Exploring the Clearing

00:27:57
Speaker
More man to cause, at least. Possibly. If we're lucky, it's the ones we killed. If not, there's more about. Which way are they heading? Are they heading towards where we're going or backwards the way we came? They're heading in the direction of travel that you are.
00:28:18
Speaker
Same direction we are. Hmm, unlikely then. Ren at this will go, I, uh, give me a second. And she's going to snap her fingers and this eagle is going to appear out of the pocket plane. And Drago, you will recognize what she's doing immediately as her eyes roll back. The bird is going to take off into the horizon.
00:28:47
Speaker
It's gonna get eaten. Oh, bloody hate it when people do this. We've had a couple of rangers who used to do this. It's bloody freaky. She quite quickly snaps out of it and goes, it's just through that clearing about 100 meters that way. I think it's dead and there's some people there. We'd better avoid it then.
00:29:16
Speaker
No, think it's that person you're looking for, you know? Actually, no, I agree. Let's just go the other direction. If we, yeah. Let's make camp and talk about it for a minute. Jaga hasn't said anything for a while, which just turns around and walks back now and where they came.
00:29:32
Speaker
I've got at least two episodes about the backstory to tell Drago. We need to spend some time. It's a whole other season. Drago will, as he's kind of mute to what's going on, but understands that we've stopped walking and that there's some sort of confusion into what lies ahead is just going to grasp the amulet and with half a mind just do a divine sense ping.
00:29:53
Speaker
So, as an action, detect good and evil until the end of my next turn, see anything affected by the Hallowspell, know the location of any celestial fiend, undead, within 60 feet. That is not behind total cover. Do I get any pings on my little dragonborn radar? Pew! Pew! Pew! No. Pew! What were you doing, Drago?
00:30:19
Speaker
I was trying to get a sense on anything ahead of us. That might have been undead. I've got history with the undead. Right. Well... You'll be happy to know that it's clear. Are we checking this out then? I don't know. I feel like we should just keep going and follow.
00:30:42
Speaker
How about, listen, it feels like this is like, you fee in front of an C7, entirely skippable. I just, I have to say that if we choose not to, we're going to have to leave the river trail. They'll see us if we try and keep the trail. Vincent, maybe. If you need to get to dash coal, right? We need to keep to the river. Listen, I can jump ahead. I can hide in the shadows. Let me go and check it out. And I can feed back and tell you what I found.
00:31:11
Speaker
Well, you're not the only one that can move quietly. Yeah, but I'm the only one holding a cup up to his mouth to make this cool out of sound effects. I'm going ahead. We'll leave that to producer. Okay. No, seriously. Macbeth is going to move forward, start creeping forward. It's great. Oh, yeah? Oh, I could do it. Anyone moving forwards needs to roll stealth, please.
00:31:43
Speaker
Do I get, can I get advantage? Why? Just because, because I asked. Because you asked. No, no is the answer to that. I kind of feel like I could do like this like reciprocal just DM butter up where it's like, yeah, of course you can just remember that, you know, Reigns is also really good. It's definitely, um, no, you can't. Okay.
00:32:08
Speaker
OK, McBenna's going to take Sainga to school because I rolled a 27. OK. Ren's going to stay with Drago for a second and he's just going to say, are you OK? He knows that to me. Yeah, you. And we're not we're not there yet.
00:32:41
Speaker
What, you and him, or you and me, or... Well, this, all of this. A bit of everything. I just need... Just need to unpick some things. Okay. I'm uh... I'm gonna follow them, then.
00:32:58
Speaker
Where are you going? As Drago shakes his head and realise that Ren's going to possibly move on and that's the one true north is keeping a tag on Ren. I'll stay with you if you want, but are we going to stay here or are we following them? Well, they're going into the clearing. She points and you can see them now moving forwards. Why are they moving so slowly? And then Drago just kind of strolls forwards.
00:33:28
Speaker
Okay. And they reminisce to see them one, those of you trying to move stealthily, all of a sudden have your stealth broken by just this stomping dragonborn that just comes through the clearing. And it's the first one to make it through with purpose. Ren is just following and just glancing over your shoulder. And what you can now see,

Meeting the Jungle Characters

00:33:48
Speaker
Drago and Ren, and eventually Syengar and McBennar as you come. If he's going in, I'm holding back in the undergrowth just in case it turns into a shit show.
00:33:56
Speaker
I hope that you're skimming up a tree and you both look at Syenga and it turns into a competition. Who can skim me the tree? And I reside. I'm going to say that you've both managed to get into vision without necessarily being seen yourselves because I'm going to, I would have, if Dragor would have walked ahead, apologies, I'm stopping you from going, but if Dragor would have walked ahead, I would have followed him because I want to figure out what this mimic's doing. So I'm following the mimic.
00:34:22
Speaker
OK, so the three of you just come through the trees and what you see are three figures who appear to be around this, this, this, what does appear to be corpse of a manticore to figure out what we see. There are three figures. Absolutely. Could I ask one, two, three, three, two, three figures? Yeah, absolutely. Well, it's funny that.
00:34:41
Speaker
And to figure out what you see, could I ask Danny, Callum, and our one-shot Willbot to take it in turns to tell us what they see happening around this Manticore course? Oh, hence why we see three. That's why you're here. Oh, that's why you wouldn't let us avoid this encounter. Yuffie, Vincent, and Kate Sith. I'll let you decide. Okay, we'll go to... Danny, why don't you kick us off with what you're doing?
00:35:10
Speaker
So I don't even know if I am. I assume I'm the tallest of the three that are visible. A red-skinned hobgoblin draped in a sort of darker red tribal paint on the exposed arms is wearing a blue sleeveless tunic and then a sort of belt area made up of wings of pterodactyls.
00:35:38
Speaker
exposed open sort of v-neck of the tunic has a giant raptor claw sort of protruding through the neck, down from the neck through part of the skin and then penetrates out again. And he's just there stroking the head of the main of this deceased flying tiger as he's calling it. Okay, thank you. Callum, what about you?
00:36:05
Speaker
you see trying to pull like the smaller teeth or fangs out of this manticore a rather small green goblin creature very cladding very very simple
00:36:23
Speaker
brown and green leathers a little bit of a satchel random holding also a quarter staff where the top is adorned with just little bits of the number 10 animal parts so it's like a claw up there there's a fang up there there's some feathers up there nice and one-shot Will why don't you tell us who Mcbend is about to shoot
00:36:51
Speaker
Oh, god. Gladly. Yeah, it's it's not. It's not a cat. I've got advantage from stealth. It's fine. Did you describe who you want? You see a bugbear a kind of tall, tampered bugbear kind of smallish tusks protruding from the face on top of his head. He's got a
00:37:16
Speaker
not quite a crown, but something similar of what looks like it's made up of kind of silvery rocks about his neck. He has a necklace with what looks like a leather pouch just around it. And mainly he's wearing like vines and leaves and an amalgamation of leathers kind of as a deep green about himself. He doesn't have anything over his legs. There's just kind of fur down onto bare feet, bare claws.
00:37:46
Speaker
but he also has around his waist kind of like a pelt to protect his modesty somewhat and you would see him with what looks like a kind of rock style dagger just kind of carefully picking away at the wings of this manticore.
00:38:04
Speaker
Because of Drago's quite less than subtle entrance, you all immediately can just hear crashing through the tree lines and you see two dragonborns and what appears to be a female humanoid. Would they know that Syngar's a dragonborn because he's got a massed garden and a cloak? He does have a tail, I believe still. Syngar still has a tail.
00:38:30
Speaker
I mean, if they spark the dragonborn, do they have tails? Some do, it depends on the deers. Yeah, Matt Mercer made it canon that you have the Ravenite ones which don't have tails. So yeah, there is a variant of dragonborns. Yes, there is. But anyway, I don't think there'd be any reason for Syengar to not be of some form of similar genetic... It's a good question, but I think Syengar... It's behind me, though. Yeah. Okay.
00:38:58
Speaker
You see what appears to be a dragonborn, a creature of similar height, but a bit shorter that appears to be wearing some form of obscure mask and a female humanoid. You don't see McBenna at this stage, just on a meta level. Yes, we'll go to you, Danny. Upon seeing our visitors, I will just turn to the visitors and say,
00:39:24
Speaker
Good afternoon, lizard and friends. Someone has killed this flying tiger. No, no, no, no, no. We've... not a lizard. I'm sorry, turtle. Cobalt! Some sort of reptilian creature. Someone has killed this flying tiger. Was it you? Dragonborn and... I don't think we've killed that flying tiger. Do you call it a flying tiger?
00:39:54
Speaker
Hi. Sorry, it's been a day. My name's Drago. This here is Ren. Drago and you're not a lizard. A dragonborn. Drago the dragon, not lizard. Have you never seen a dragonborn before? Maybe. Right. And you call that a flying tiger? Yes, it's a tiger with wings. I'm gonna have a hard time getting along with you.
00:40:25
Speaker
This here is, um... Oh, God. Sayangar. Hello.
00:40:33
Speaker
Why is there a cup on your face? What you see in front of you is a figure with a large black cape draped over his shoulders, shaggy black cape, and it's got a big mask, a porcelain white ivy mask with two large bug dome eyes on either side with two long, loose and flaccid tusks that hang down either side, down to what is kind of as naval as midsection. It's an intimidating
00:41:01
Speaker
presence He at least he likes to think so DM does this look like the manta claw that we slayed last night or the one that got away Both tried to flee and You managed to foot fell one with your great axe and then the shot the other one that it was I've never managed to take flight But then the shot it down in which case
00:41:27
Speaker
Drago will just look at your character, Danny, the Hobbo Gobbo, and... Bugbear. Bugbear. No, that's... The Hobgoblin. I don't know the whole other side. Come on, make some notes. No, no, we killed two manticlaws last night. That's not our kill. What's your name, good sir? Who? Me?
00:41:55
Speaker
Yes, you. I'm Ukaburra! Sorry, bless you. What? I'm Ukaburra! Okay. Oh, God. And, um, Shineghast is gonna turn to Dragun, kinda whisper, like, over his shoulder and to his ear. There's all sorts out here in the jungle. This isn't entirely out of the ordinary, let's just say. Have you met these guys before? Fuck no, I'd remember. You have something on your face!
00:42:23
Speaker
Oh, sorry, yeah. Damn, is it still dark? No, the sun came up a while ago. I said that. I'm almost away from it. Hello. I also am one of the aforementioned lizard folk. Dragonborn. Don't listen to yourself. It's fine, I listened to myself a long time ago. I don't. Dragonborn. We're looking for someone.
00:42:49
Speaker
Drago, what are we looking for? That thing, the person... And McBenna will come out from, like, off to the side. His bow is out. We're looking for a bastard of a Khajiit. Catman, to you, uh, uh, Okaburra. Cat, cat boy, maybe. Cat boy! Or cat person. No. He's a Khajiit. Fela walks on two legs. He called that a tiger, just, you know, I mean...
00:43:19
Speaker
What are you doing without saying bow? I'm sorry to interrupt. I'm sorry to interrupt. But what are the other two doing to that thing? And she's just going to point to the two who appear. They're enjoying themselves. The bug bears, they're still carving away at one of the wings. And he kind of pipes up over to the goblin and says,
00:43:38
Speaker
Oh, yeah, that's right, little brother. Just make sure you get one of the fangs up at the front. You want one of the big ones. That'll be really cool on your belt. You guys don't mind if I take a bit of the leather from one of these wings, do you? You weren't going to hold on to that. That's it. Isn't that cool? Oh, so it's fair game? I say go for it. Perfect. We'll keep kind of picking away.
00:44:08
Speaker
Yeah, you see the probably the smallest one is desperately trying to get one of these big fangs out of his mouth, but it's far too well wedged in there. And then he's just gonna eventually come out with a bit of a pop and he kind of falls back. Here we go. You there constipated goblin.
00:44:33
Speaker
Have you seen a cat come through these parts? What's a cat? Nice tooth butt. Fuck. Do you know what a cat is? What? It's that dog that tastes nice. Oh, the delicious dog. Yes. Longer town. No, I've not seen one of them through here. Oh.
00:44:51
Speaker
Maybe these guys are useless and it feels like we can really move on from here. Yeah. McBenna is just going to move forward. Can I investigate the Manticore corpse? And because I know how Karl tends to kill things with words,
00:45:09
Speaker
I'm looking to see whether it looks like it's died and that is there like blood coming from its ears or it's or it's nose where it's looked like it's had like an internal hemorrhage from the headaches that Karl can cause you because Macbeth knows that from his experience that that's how Karl kills things. You would have to get closer to roll the investigation but I will let you make perception from here. No, I will move forward and

Decisions and Journey Forward

00:45:30
Speaker
investigate. I'm giving the three weirdos a dirty stare and for your sake guys you're seeing a
00:45:38
Speaker
An elderly man, he's well into his 50s. His clothes are leather and look quite well worn, but he's like, they look comfortable for this climate because he's from shadow men. So he's used to hot weather and hot temperatures. So it looks like they're the kind of clothes that you can remove layers off of quite quickly and keep quite temperate. But he looks very well armed and very grumpy as a 50 plus year old man.
00:46:05
Speaker
It's worth saying as well for the goblin kin that the human is the most exotic creature to you guys here. It's the one you would have seen the least of. Yeah, okay. As you come forward, you can roll investigation. Thanks. Oh, I've been doing so well so far, but that's a five.
00:46:26
Speaker
with a passive of 14. The monstrosity head, the monstrous humanoid head is still there, but you can see that effectively almost it's really hard to tell if there's any particular wounds to that that killed it because of the hack job that this goblin has done on trying to remove one of the teeth. It's like walking into a construction site and what you can see is where the lip and the gums have been pulled back is that this goblin has
00:46:52
Speaker
Kind of like a certain point, like being completely immersed on the inside, like he's literally lifted up a flap and pulled it down over himself and has just started hacking away at these teeth. It's really hard to tell from that role and in particular just what this goblin has done to try and remove one of the fangs to get a sense of what killed this. I'll just say to you as you're investigating, if you want to get in there, you better move quick.
00:47:22
Speaker
I feel like... What to do? No, I'm not getting in. I think there might be a lung left. McBenna, I feel like this is a waste of time. I do. Let's leave these three to there, whatever this is. Banquets. Fuck off. Are you planning on eating this? I'm sorry. Why wouldn't we? Well, you might be a little bit hungry, little brother, but I'm not.
00:47:52
Speaker
I don't think it'll taste very nice. We don't know unless we try. Oh well, you could try first I suppose. I know a man who tried to eat manticore skin. I won't be eating, they're poisonous. Yeah, he ended up vomiting and then his lungs came up and then he died. That's pretty painful. Not a man like that that happened to me. Yes, don't eat it, it's probably poisonous.
00:48:21
Speaker
Oh, I'm no fan. Drago, you're watching this chaos unfold. Yeah, slightly. I guess it's in part down to what's happened to him at the start of this episode, where there is slight regression going on here from Drago's character as he just looks at what's happening in front of him and then just starts walking towards them, takes a foot over the corpse and then just walks straight forward.
00:48:50
Speaker
Good thinking, Drago, let's go. And McBannon, we'll follow him. I was going to say, what are you doing out in these parts? I haven't seen you by the river before. That's just generally all three of you. We're just heading to the main city, and we just kind of stumbled across this. You can't give up a fresh kill like this one, especially not the excellent leather that I can obviously be using. What about yourself?
00:49:23
Speaker
I don't really know myself. I was following these two. Now Dragonborn isn't who he says he is, but that doesn't need to concern you. We're tracking someone. Well, they're tracking someone. I guess I am too now. It's a bit like me. I don't know who these dingbats are. I met them four hours ago. Oh. You seem like such a close-knit group. Why do you say that?
00:49:49
Speaker
Because we came across you together. That's literally all the evidence I have. Likewise. Well, we were destined to meet with the Ucaburra. You were part of the gang. Now you're part of the tribe. Yeah. Don't start on this. Well, where are we going with the Ucaburra then? What's the plan? Why? My entire family and tribe burned. I'm homeless. Oh, shit. Big jungle fire. Just there. Didn't you see? I do remember. Seeing person?
00:50:17
Speaker
Not so long ago. I'm sorry for your loss. Yes, it's terribly sad. Your loss is our game. You get to join the game. These aren't too bad. They like to eat things that are quite poisonous to them. That little one's died like three times almost. Yeah, I ate a flower the other day and I had an erection for days. I warned them about that one actually. I told them about that one. The red one is.
00:50:44
Speaker
Well, I seem to be all right now. It's gone down, certainly. That's because your brother helped you, eh? What about the one that made your fingers all stiff? Do you remember that one? Did you eat that one? The one that made your hands all open wide and you couldn't grip for days. Do you remember that one? I've not tried that one yet. We call that the boogie plant. It's a nightmare. My favorite jungle warriors. You've got a couple of trackers in your group?
00:51:13
Speaker
Aye, aye, aye, I think he is anyway. We're heading the same direction as you, we're going towards... Well, fuck, I've forgotten the name of it, you know, Dash Korai, the, yeah, thank you, DM, the towards Aerith's gift to Dash Korai. Oh, perfect! Same as you. Well, there we go, that settles it, let's go. They've already walked ahead, we might as well just go in a different direction and, you know,
00:51:41
Speaker
make our own sub podcast. I think I know a shortcut. Oh, even better. Do you have a boat? Yes, and a plane. What is happening? What is happening? I'm sorry about your loss, Ocaburra. Ocaburra? Is it Ocaburra? Is it Ocaburra? Yes. Ocaburra. I...
00:52:11
Speaker
It's a bit too soon. I'm hoping to find any of my displaced family there. Have you tried looking up? The stars will tell you all you need to know. This one's got a good theory. Tell him more. I'll tell you what, I'll tell you on the way. Let's catch up to your friends. They walk quite fast ahead, but yeah, I reckon we can catch them. It's nice to meet you all, by the way. I'm sorry about the other two.
00:52:41
Speaker
seem a little bit more standoffish. A few yards ahead, hopefully more than a few. Drago gets the sense that something bad has just happened behind him, and he turns to me better and just goes, fuck. It's a gross moment with a touch. Something horrible has just happened.

Closing and Social Media

00:53:00
Speaker
I've traveled with shits before, and they're just dead weight. They come along with their funny names in there.
00:53:11
Speaker
Let's just do what we can. And as you say that, on a resolution of making your way to the jungle, resigned to the fact that Syengar has just invited this quite peculiar trio along on the journey with you, that is where we're going to end it for tonight's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. Of course we are.
00:53:37
Speaker
You know what, we could've avoided this encounter, we could've avoided it, we could've literally just gone round. It would've been fine. I could've been the new character for when you... Drago, Darren could've just kept putting these three figures just ahead of us in every encounter. We would've just kept avoiding them. It's the shortcut!
00:53:56
Speaker
until suddenly they're literally at the gate, it's going, oh, hello there, who are you? Oh, for sake. I just want to say the Doctor Who with the mini, where it just keeps coming round the corner until you interact with it. It would have been like that. Well. Fantastic. Awesome stuff, guys. If you wanted to, there's no segue here, it's just going golden harden for dates like that.
00:54:23
