We've got some chores to do before breakfast.

Recap of Previous Episode

00:00:30
Speaker
Hello and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are all a live play, well not all, but we are a live play 5e T&D podcast set in the world of Erith. My name is Mark, I'm the Dungeon Master and I just drank some orange squash. And also with us for today's episode we have Ian, who plays the Dragonborn Barbarian, Drago. What up? We've got Darren, who plays the human fighter rogue, Robin. Hello there. Danny, who plays the human- Oh, what?
00:00:57
Speaker
What was that? I didn't have one planned, I'm sorry. It's a lot of pressure, all right? I think you just broke a 42 episode chain of Robin quotes. Holy optical length one. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's ruined. Ruined. Similar to Brock from Anchorman, I was just reading things in my room then. Holy lamp.
00:01:26
Speaker
Brilliant podcast over. We've got Danny who plays the human cleric Claude. Hi what's up I'm let down by Darren. We've got Catelyn who plays the gnome sorcerer Folly Fizzlebang the ninth. Hello hello. We've got Will who plays the human bard Carstan. I can be your hero baby. And last but not least we have Casey who plays the human champion Helena Sleetguard. Hello there.
00:01:51
Speaker
On last week's episode, that was a great intro, on the last week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop, we managed to bring about, after the death of Eraqas, bring about Kastan's resuscitation from his little stint of madness when he got banished. We managed to bring around the body of the woman that was found in Eraqas' dungeon, which turned out to be Juliet Grendre, who was a emissary from Moonrise, who instantly endeared herself to the party.
00:02:18
Speaker
She gave them some quite useful and interesting information regarding what her theories were and they were just theories of the undead underneath the mind that they were currently in. She also mentioned that she was in conversation with Yanno, which was the local stocky, about possibly blowing it up to break the portal and seal the undead or kill the undead underground.
00:02:38
Speaker
Tali also spent some time with Robin and looked over the book that Eric has had left and they agreed that book would remain on the floor. The party made their way out and Robin and drug had a conversation about the rage that Robin felt in the last battle. We made our way out, made ourselves back into the tavern, rooms were given out and the majority of us went to bed. Now,

Robin's Mysterious Dream

00:03:00
Speaker
I'm gonna just follow one just before the long we're gonna go straight into the long rest so if you want a long rest yourself you can do that now full HP etc. Drago you only lose one point of exhaustion so you still have one point of exhaustion left which means you'll still need to roll to this advantage on skill checks but you can now travel at normal speed however
00:03:19
Speaker
What I want to imagine is that as everyone's kind of gone to bed, the last episode finished with a really nice kind of clink of glasses and everyone slowly teetered off to bed. We're going to join one character first as they enter into their room and it's Robin.
00:03:33
Speaker
Robin, you go into your room, which is further down the corridor, you're one of the last to go to sleep, so it's one of the only rooms that is really free. The car stand is already in bed, asleep, and the lights are off anyway, the candle isn't lit, so the room is quite dark when you enter it, and you bring yourself over to your room, you take a couple of moments to sort yourself out, and then you lay down on your straw bed to sleep.
00:03:58
Speaker
And as you close your eyes to sleep, it's quicker than normal to sleep. You fall into a deep sleep very quickly. The darkness within your eyes is absolute. And it's almost nice for a second, the quiet, the calm. You can hear the breathing of Kastan slowly, what seems in the distance now.
00:04:19
Speaker
The sound of the revelry downstairs from other patrons and the noise of Kastan slowly fades off and it's replaced by a light humming sound and a buzzing noise in your ear. This isn't external to you, this is internal. The darkness deepens as your body seems to lose corporeal form. You feel like you're falling but gently slowly sinking through the ground you lay upon.
00:04:50
Speaker
You are aware, you are conscious, though strangely aware that you find yourself within a dream, a vision, or something. Can I just ask that if you aren't named Robin, could you just mute the conversation or take your headphones off for me, please? It'd be okay. Cheek. Can't believe this. Darkness encapsulates you.
00:05:14
Speaker
As you move your body and look around, this darkness covers all that you can see. Above, below and in every direction. Time passes. More time passes. And then you see something in what you assume is the distance.
00:05:36
Speaker
A small wisp of black smoke, darker than the darkness that surrounds you, it starts to build and build and a figure begins to form from the mist. A long red rope clasped around a man's head. The body hangs and moves as if it were in a breeze. The eyes of the man stares off into the distance away from you. This figure
00:06:05
Speaker
moves slowly through time and space, ethereal almost. The eyes latch onto you, Robin, and suddenly the figure of this hanging man is broken. Another figure walks through the mist-formed man, disappearing this image. This new figure seems more real somehow, more here and now. A nine-foot tall humanoid steps through,
00:06:35
Speaker
looking at you with small human-esque eyes. The skin is a dark black which is stretched across a muscular torso. The head holds a series of six tiny black horns and has thick black hair almost covering them. Although the torso is naked save two small metallic pauldrons, the legs have what seem like ancient armor upon them all the way down to his bare feet.
00:07:03
Speaker
across his back is a long and waved arched greatsword. He steps forward through the mist and stands still, looking at you with a kind smile on his face. Ah, plane shifter. It is good to finally meet you.
00:07:23
Speaker
Your prowess on the battlefield leaves me quaking in my boots and hot under the collar, if either were at all possible. I always enjoyed the material plane. So much intrigue. So much distrust and hatred. So much lust and envy. Aerith in particular is a place of much interest to me.
00:07:50
Speaker
It is the beginning, the making of you, I am sure. You, Robin Planeshifter. You and your eloquence with sword and bow. You with your innate abilities to learn and fight and wield both steel and arcana. You would do well to learn the properties of stock magic while passing through this fleeting realm.
00:08:20
Speaker
Imagine the power you could hold. It makes me all warm inside. It must have intrigued you. The figure stops for a moment and looks at you, waiting for a response. You feel the need and want to respond to this figure, but your ability to speak is somewhat stifled. The figure continues.
00:08:43
Speaker
Your work with Eraqas was impressive. You were impressive. I was very impressed. With you. With all of you. Helena shows real strength given what will become of her. And

Morning Discussions and Plans

00:08:58
Speaker
Claude. Claude is, how might I say this, the one that got away. His wit is not lost on me though. And... Elphir. Well...
00:09:11
Speaker
His speed and battlefield prowess made him a worthy companion and now an even more worthy adversary. I am surprised that you did not read more into Teriani's message all those weeks ago. The blight rocks the mind as well as the body. Did you honestly not see this coming? It seems odd that one so deft in battle could be so clueless to those in his company.
00:09:40
Speaker
This is not the first time this has happened either. Perhaps, perhaps you should more closely consider your friends. I often find that enemies are much more reliable than friends, albeit with more nefarious means, but honest to their ends. Would you not agree? Again, the figure pauses waiting for a response, but something within you is urging you to stay quiet.
00:10:08
Speaker
But do not fear, the figure continues as he moves and paces around you. There are those more clueless within your ranks. Drago. Convinced by a simple traitor that his family hunts him and his sword. Sure that shadows from another realm haunt him. This was nothing more than the final machinations of your elven companion.
00:10:34
Speaker
A stroke of genius if ever I saw one. And without having to speak to you, he has you all convinced. The elf's magic so easily convinced the traitor and in doing so, convinced you all. But given your current run of bad luck with friends, does it make sense to tell him?
00:10:58
Speaker
Does this not give you some control over the actions of such an uncontrollable entity? I leave this knowledge in your hands, Robin, plane shifter. The voice lowers slightly as he moves towards you, Robin. Eraqas has long plagued you. Does it feel good to be rid of him at last? I do hope you know what he was digging for here.
00:11:25
Speaker
If not, I recommend an exploration of the mine. I do love exploring, and I hope you do too. At this the figure stands back from you, stretches his long sleek arms out to the sides. I am Threestan. This is my form.
00:11:52
Speaker
You see me as this, and he points to the mist behind of a hanging man. But this is the form I take to those I deem worthy. I have little power left in this form, but I can offer something that is easy for me, but life-changing for you. Submit your soul to Akiva and myself.
00:12:19
Speaker
and I can bring your sister Ren to Eryth. I will come to you again in the coming days and expect your answer. Know that I do not often come walking Robin Planeshifter into the mortal realm. My time is fleeting. My offer short. My focus dim. I will come to you again for your answer.
00:12:48
Speaker
Robin Plinshifter. And with this, as quick as the image of this nine foot tall humanoid appeared, it disappears and you startle and awake, sweating profusely and breathing deeply with your hands and fists clutched over your chest, shaking.
00:13:14
Speaker
So morning arrives after a good night's sleep for everyone. And what I'd like you to do, just everyone, can you all just roll a d20 for me and tell me what you get? I'll just go around the group. So roll a d20. No additions, no nothing to add to it. And we'll just go through and see what people have got. So Helena, what did you roll? Natural one. Natural one, lovely. And Danny?
00:13:42
Speaker
Sorry, Claude? Four. Lovely, this is great. Robin? I also rolled a four. My lord, wow. Folly? Eleven. Something above ten. Drago? Nineteen. And Carstan? Also, nineteen. Oh, shit. Nice, and what an entirely roll. Oh, a three.
00:14:06
Speaker
Wow, that's some deep sleepers. On the roll, that is your order for what you wake up. Unless anyone's got anything like a feet, which means they sleep less, or is an elf? No, no, he's off doing his own thing now. He is indeed. What's he doing? It's a separate podcast, isn't it? He's got the Elfie Show. We've been recording it for ages, Ian, do you not know? The Elfie Show. Elfie-er at night. A night with Elfie-er. Yeah, that's what he's doing.
00:14:33
Speaker
So, I'm going to write that as the order, oh, I've forgotten who they all are and I've just written out the numbers and not actually who they are. So, who are the two nineties? Drago and... Castan. So, what, Castan, what you first do, Drago, you're in a room by yourself and you wake up first to go to bed, first to wake up, and you head downstairs. Castan, what you do when you wake up...
00:14:52
Speaker
As you get up and kind of getting ready, you see Robin still absolutely out of it. You do see him sweating a little bit and tossing and turning a little bit, but I mean, you barely know the guy. You're not going to watch him sleep, not much anyway. And you grab your things and head downstairs for some breakfast. And actually, you kind of meet each other in the corridor. You both wake up and leave at about the same time. So you just come out of the corridor and you both kind of met each other in the corridor. What do you want to do? Good morning, Drago. Have you got coughing?
00:15:21
Speaker
and Karsten looks about himself not to hand. Then it's not a good morning at the moment. How are you feeling? Karsten holds up the half full bottle of whatever we were drinking last night. You can have some of this if you want. Yep, that'll do. Good morning. And Diago takes a big old glop. You can keep that. Appreciate it. Are you feeling any better?
00:15:49
Speaker
Yeah, I had a chat with Robin and Claude. Yeah, I'll get there. Time's a healer, they say. So I'll get there. Time it is. Shall we find some breakfast? That sounds absolutely smashing.
00:16:12
Speaker
and Drago proceeds to walk downstairs. And we'll follow along. And as you walk down, you come around the corner and you do get the distinct smell of something like a stew or something. And you do see that there is thredron there behind or near the bar area, stirring around this pot that's been kind of steaming of a stew. And he has a number of bowls, wooden bowls off to the side of it. And he just sees you coming down and starts filling the first one. Oh, good morning. Is it just the two of you up at the moment?
00:16:41
Speaker
Alright, appears so, unless you've seen anyone else.
00:16:44
Speaker
I have not so far this morning. I'll just pop these down for you. And he pops them down on a big table, big enough for eight. He seems to have put some tables together in order. He knows how big your group is and kind of has put a good size of, sorry, a good number of table. Sorry, a good number of chairs around a table so you could all fit and eat breakfast together. And puts down the two bowls with a wooden spoon next to it as well. I'll bring out some bread as well. Drinks, would you like anything? Any water or anything? Coffee.
00:17:14
Speaker
coffee. Is that a thing? Is that a thing in D&D? I've never, I don't know. We just want to go beer. Let's have a roll. Oh, no. Unfortunately, the last amount of coffee, I love coffee too much. We can't not have coffee in this world. The last shipment of coffee, we haven't seen coffee in quite a few weeks. So unfortunately, we don't have any available. Damn, I must try that bar stocks around the corner.
00:17:39
Speaker
I mean, we do grow a lot of nice, very nice coffee in Obsidia. I must take you to some of the very nice coffee houses we have in the city. I can't wait.

Karstan's Performance

00:17:50
Speaker
Oh, good. Excellent. This sounds like a nice little jaunt we'll go on. And DM just writes a quick note down. Add coffee to Obsidia.
00:18:00
Speaker
Yeah, I've fleshed out your background through roleplay, mate. I swear to do it. Sorry, as you were saying. Sorry. Go on. You can go. So polite. After that, Jolyon, he'll have brought his pack down with him, and he will pull out a long pipe, like the ones that the hobbits smoke in Lord of the Rings, and he will start to put some stuff in his pipe.
00:18:24
Speaker
Would you like a light for that, sir? No, it's OK. And Castan will use press digitization to light it for himself. Oh, good lord. And he goes back over to the stew pot and starts stirring. So Drago turns to the barkeep. It'd be good to get your brother out of confinement today.
00:18:47
Speaker
Absolutely. Oh, and he kind of feel like he's been holding this in for a while. I was wondering, I didn't know if you all needed to get up in order to do it. I assume so, but, you know, do you want to get ready for you so that we could pop back over and get him sorted before, you know, before too long, if you know what I mean? Yeah, and I appreciate the need for haste. I would
00:19:09
Speaker
like it if everyone was up but i didn't know if there was anything you needed to do in the meantime to make sure that you're ready or that the party who is keeping him needs to know because we have substantial evidence and ahead actually we have we do have a head with us of the person who um who committed the crime
00:19:31
Speaker
I did see that as you entered. And thankfully, and Castro sort of plucks the pipe out of his mouth, thankfully, it is Lady Grendara who actually saw what happened. So we have an only witness now, one would hope that's showing the evidence we've got and
00:19:50
Speaker
Maybe a little bit of good common sense argument because sometimes they just like to string up the first person they find. And we'll be able to get your brother free. Aye, I feel that's very true and if Miss Grendre is involved then her word stands for a lot even among those bastards.
00:20:09
Speaker
of the hailstorm. That would be excellent. I don't want to push you. I understand today will be an auspicious day. Yes, don't worry. We'll definitely go later on. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you again. Oh, I'm just so happy. I thought you were springing my step today. I haven't been this upbeat in quite some time. So thank you very, very much. Would you like any more stew? Yeah, sure. Bring it on.
00:20:33
Speaker
I will bring you more, and he brings over some more students, slops up almost to the brim, it's full, it's going everywhere, but he just wants to give as much as he can to you. I'm being overbearing. My brother used to tell me I did that a bit. I will leave you to your breakfast, gentlemen, if you need anything. Trust me, we have a person in our party who can be overbearing at times. I'm used to it by now. Yeah, I mean, it must be terrible when people are really overbearing and just getting your face and just don't shut up, it's terrible.
00:21:00
Speaker
I wasn't referring to you, Karsten, but... Oh, I wasn't referring to me either. Well, this is a bit awkward, but I'll just leave you both to it. Thanks again. Thank you very much. And he kind of wanders off back. I'll just pop it in the kitchen, but I'll get your bread and then I'll... Yeah. And he walks off. Karsten, now that I have a moment with you.
00:21:27
Speaker
Yes, and Carter will also offer the pipe towards Draggo. Do you partake? Sure, why not? And Draggo takes the pipe and has a big old puff on it, and the smoke comes out of his nostrils in a very dragon-like way. Nice. Oh, excellent. That's brilliant.
00:21:46
Speaker
and then Karsten will take it back and continue just puffing on it. You'll find it. It sometimes helps clear the mind, I find it. It helps clear the mind. I'm glad you have a way to clear your mind, Karsten. Because yesterday, in the heat of battle, you... you succumbed to... a bewilderment.
00:22:08
Speaker
I'm gonna come out and say it, and this might seem strange to you, Drag. I don't think this is something you'd probably feel, but I was afraid. Fair enough. Fear is a thing that we all have to deal with in our own way. But I just thought it'd be good to warn you that this group does see its fair share of battles. And if you were to continue travelling with us, you need to be aware of that.
00:22:37
Speaker
I know the world is far darker than what I read in books, and it's far more dangerous than inside the walls that I grew up in, and I know that. It's something I was told I had to learn about the world, and sometimes you've got to put yourself in danger to learn about things. Okay, as long as you're aware. Sounds like you're going to learn the hard way. Well, sometimes that's the only way.
00:23:07
Speaker
Okay, I just wanted you to know that... Hello? Hello? There's a small boy standing at the door, the same boy that you recognized from when you first came here, who showed you to the Riverstone Inn. Yes, I know you.
00:23:23
Speaker
Good morning to you both, Dragon and Manboy. I have been given some letters from someone else who'd got the letters from someone else who I can only assume, well, you know how letters go. And he, wait, yes, he wanted me to give them to the party of adventurers that had come into Blackmouth.
00:23:48
Speaker
and you are that party. They are 4HS and he hands over two letters to you. The first one has a light blue wax seal on it and the other one has a red wax seal on it.
00:24:03
Speaker
Are you, it looks at Carstan, are you HS boy, man boy? Sorry, so when obviously the kids saying HS, on the seal, is there anything on the seals that I would know, not notice? Yep, so you look at the seals, the light blue one is the symbol of a fist clutching a quill and a sprig of rosemary. It's quite intricate. You would recognize that straight away as the kind of the sigil, the sign of the
00:24:33
Speaker
faith of Tiriani so it's a religious seal on that one. On the second one you see the red waxed one just has a large star upon it and you again would recognize that as the sigil of not so much the hailstorm academy but of the royal family of of sleep guard.
00:24:56
Speaker
Yes, in fact, I am HS. Yes, I will take those off you right now. Thank you very much, young lad. Could you roll deception, please, Will? Yes, I can. Are you taking someone else's name, Will? Can I use my acting skills? I get advantage. I need a yes. I need a yes. You are taking someone else's name.
00:25:26
Speaker
Yeah, I see what you want to do. Could you then... I mean, at the moment you've just said, yes, I'm HS. If you're going to use performance, is it a form of performance? Well, I get advantage on deception and performance checks when trying to pass yourself off as a different person. Okay. Well, let's see you pass yourself off as a different person then. So he'll get the letters out and he'll kind of hear what you say, I'm HS, and go... Do you want deception or performance? It's entirely up to you.
00:25:53
Speaker
You decide. You can decide which one you want to use. Which one do you want to use? I use deception and I rolled a 27. Okay. Well, you rolled pretty well. You rolled 16. I thought you might have you.
00:26:04
Speaker
And he looks and goes, who am I to question who HS is? Here you go, HS. Is that your first name or your surname or both? It's a nickname and I will flip a silver coin at him. And it just hits him on the head. I have so much money now. I don't know what to do with it. You're quite rich now. You should go spend it and buy some things.
00:26:25
Speaker
I did. I bought lots of things yesterday when you gave me money and then I ran out of things to buy. Well, I went with six silver pieces and I left with five silver pieces and six copper pieces. Okay. Have you got anything else to give us or tell us? No.

Claude's Magical Abilities

00:26:42
Speaker
I think you're good.
00:26:44
Speaker
Thank you. If you ever need to know a bit more about the town of Blackmouth, please come to me. I wrote a book, it's the only book I have, and it's all about the history of Blackmouth. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Bye. Bye. Bye. Oh wait, I left the silver and he runs back in, picks up the silver, gives it a quick bite, and then runs off through the doors at the time. Bye. So, um, HS, huh?
00:27:10
Speaker
I believe that these are probably for Miss Helena. I'd say your powers of deduction are extremely good. Well, I took a guess. I ran my brain through all the members of our party and she was the only one whose name matches the initials. Are you going to open it? No, they're for her. I mean, you could open it.
00:27:35
Speaker
No, no, no. Now, all I did was take the letters from the boy because... I mean, you pretended to be her. Trust me, as someone who has taken someone's name before to receive goods, you may as well open it. You've done the deed. No, no, no. Dargo, that would be very, very duplicitous and not at all. Plus, I don't think Claude would like it if I started reading Her Majesty's Mail. I'm sure Helena would see sense.
00:28:05
Speaker
No, no, she wouldn't. She'll tie me up again. Okay. Cool. I'm just gonna eat.
00:28:17
Speaker
And as you continue to eat your stew folly, you appear from coming down the stairs with backpack or without backpack? I never know in the mornings. With backpack, always with. Brilliant. On that special note otherwise. Brilliant, thank you. You come down with your backpack and see, sorry, you don't see Claude, you see Drago and Karstan sat at a table with two letters next to them eating a bowl of soup. Oh, Karstan, I'm sorry, Karstan, I used to stop being a problem. Yeah, no problem. So you just see them both eating soup.
00:28:46
Speaker
Good morning, gents. How are you? Good morning, Folly. How are you? Good morning. Very good, sir. Much better now. Oh, good. A good rest. It's certainly cleaned out the old windpipes. A pipe to clear the morning fog? Thanks, but I don't. I never touch the stuff. Okay. Carson, we'll go back to puffing on his pipe and eating his stew. We've got stew for breakfast, Holly.
00:29:16
Speaker
Okay, yes, that's fine, I suppose I'm... He's quite excitable, the barkeep, because I told him that we'll look at releasing his brother today. Oh, yes, that was a thing, wasn't it? It's a very important thing, it's why we're here, it's why we went into the mines. Sorry, I've been a bit distracted as of late, but yes, yes, of course, we can make sure we get on with that this morning. Folly, actually, while you're here...
00:29:46
Speaker
Yes. I gave you my sword not so long ago to study. Yes, yes, you did. Unfortunately, the building burnt down during the night, but did you happen to come across any information? I made a start on it, but your sword is of great magic power.
00:30:07
Speaker
It would take more than one night with fire and nearly homicidal action by a comrade before I can actually fully analyse the sword. Perhaps tonight we can do an exchange again and I could see what I can find out for you. OK. I think it would be prevalent for you to take a look.
00:30:30
Speaker
I would be most interested indeed, yes. It's, as I said, a great magic power. Can I have a look at the sword as well? No. What about that book you picked up in the mine? Oh, yeah. Don't get that out. Have you studied that anymore? I was far too exhausted from yesterday's tirade, I'm afraid. I couldn't possibly have done any research on it. I will be frank with you, Drago. I fear for it.
00:31:00
Speaker
It is a book of great evil. Difficult to be certain exactly why. You could set it on fire. You could chop it in half. You could throw it away. It's a book. There's no need to be afraid of a book. But it opened up a portal to... I think it opened up a portal to Obsidia. Don't get me wrong, but I believe your nemesis had a book yesterday when we bought him.
00:31:26
Speaker
he was certainly very powerful never underestimate the power of the written word drago uh folly is right on that the written word can be very very powerful i don't buy into the pen is mightier than the sword i never said the pen i said the word either way words can hurt especially if you throw them really hard how might one throw a word well
00:31:51
Speaker
it's really weird it's like it's something i do sometimes when i say things to people okay i can like make it hurt people what
00:32:01
Speaker
Is that a form of magic? I think it is. I think it's something they taught me at the university and it's a way of sort of lacing my words with magic. It's not like spells, like wizards and sorcerers use. It's sort of, yeah, it's pretty hard to explain. I just know it's what I do. I've seen it a little bit in action as of late and I won't lie, I'm quite intrigued myself.
00:32:27
Speaker
I would perhaps like to study you sometime. I've never been studied before. I don't know how to feel about that. I can study from afar if you're uncomfortable. Do you want to tie him up as well? Tie him up? No. He's been tied up before. I have, and don't worry, I had a safe word. It was perfectly safe. Would that have to do with magic at all?
00:32:52
Speaker
No, that was something completely different. But the point is that it's not as powerful as your magic, Folly. So I need your little magic. I'm not as good as you. Magic is only as powerful as the user. If your words can really have such great power, then it's all dependent upon you. I mean, yeah, I can make people think things that they don't really think and all sorts. Ah, I see. Yes, I do think perhaps I'll have to study you more in battle.
00:33:21
Speaker
Or perhaps a demonstration sometime. Yeah, it doesn't really work well in battle sometimes. It's normally just when I'm just talking to people. What, like now? Are you trying to cast a spell on me now? No, no, not now. You say yes and he lifts up his court of staff and he's always pointing it directly in Castland's face.
00:33:38
Speaker
OK, and Carson just leans around the court stuff so we can still look at you properly. I mean, no, I'm not casting it now. It's just that the spell is when I use words. Sometimes if you're fighting people, their brains are a bit more fuzzy and they don't listen to words very well, so they don't tend to work as well.
00:33:56
Speaker
Ah, I see. Okay. Unless you're having that conversation. Sorry. Go on. As they had that conversation, Robin and Claude, you would have roused from your slumber and at the same time again would appear in the corridor. Before exiting, I've got some stuff I'd do in the room first. Okay, no problem. What would you do in the room? Am I in a twin or a double? A single.
00:34:21
Speaker
It's just a single bed. Yep. Okay. The head of Eraqas would have been propped up on the pillow beside me all night. Oh, God. What? I love it. And before I went to bed, I would have cast a gentle repose on it, which is the sending spell that we've come to call it that stops them from decaying or becoming undead. Yep. And I would have woken up that morning, opened up the window, said, Oh, what a beautiful morning, little Eraqas. Wouldn't you agree?
00:34:51
Speaker
Oh, you can't see. And I'll scoop him up from the bedside and I'll show him the lovely breeze. And as you do that you hear a scream from downstairs as a young woman carrying a pail of water looks up in horror as she sees a small man holding what in his massive arms seems like a tiny little head.
00:35:12
Speaker
Oh, no need to worry, madam. It is just a puppet. I will demonstrate and I will do a little ventriloquist style thing. Could you do a performance check for me, please? Absolutely not. Eight.
00:35:29
Speaker
As you're doing your little... Go on, do a bit of your performance then. What would Claude do to show her that it's just a puppet? Oh, little Ericus! What a lovely day! Do you have any news to tell? Wow! What news have I got? I haven't got any toes!
00:35:51
Speaker
And as you're doing that, I imagine you lift the head to your ear to kind of say that I haven't got any toes, and you actually lose your grasp on the head of Eraqas, and it tumbles out the window, hitting into the mud, looking up in front of this woman, and she goes... I run off down the window. I instantly climb out the window and retrieve the head. Okay, could you do an athletics check, please? Yes, that I can do. You don't have your armour on, do you?
00:36:17
Speaker
No, I still have my pajamas on. 21. Okay, you've definitely managed to land in the mud and the head is right there in front of you and you can grab it. You're basically just outside the front door now of the pub. So now I will cast the sending spell. Which is where I can send 25 words to anyone on... ever. That I know. Madam Artcord.
00:36:47
Speaker
Mission accomplished. I have the head of Ericas. There is a portal in Blackmouth. What should I do? You may respond to this message straight away. Is it 20 words? 25. Oh, okay. Good. We managed to get, we just about managed to get that in. Yeah. So she, she can instantly respond and I can hear her reply.
00:37:17
Speaker
You hear back, Christ Claude, I wish you wouldn't do it this early in the morning. Good work. Follow the group. Valor guard. And then the message ends. Okay. And I will return Eraqas under my arm. I'll say, naughty Eraqas. Why did you fall out the window like that?
00:37:45
Speaker
And we've got some chores to do before breakfast. Oh God. I'm going to climb back up into my room. Could you do another athletics check, please? Yep. Or acrobatics, whatever you think. 18. I'm guessing it's athletics. Yeah, absolutely fine. You managed to climb the side of this building. Again, as you get about halfway up to get to your window, there is a bloke carrying a large piece of wood walking down the road. He goes, oi, what are you doing like that?
00:38:13
Speaker
Just practicing for the circus act. Why have you got a head under your arm? Circus tricks. Alright. I've seen weirder things in blackmouth in my time. I've already walked through them. Shush now!
00:38:26
Speaker
and you managed to get back into your room. Okay, so I will go into my bags and I will continue to speak as though Ericas is a reciprocant person. So Ericas, I'm going to show you something quite magical and I'm going to discover another teddy bear in the depths of my sack. Drago used the last one, so I've got to make him a new one.
00:38:52
Speaker
And again, I'm going to cast a glyph of warding and store a healing spell within the teddy bear. Okay. Now, Eraqas. Did you sleep well? The head doesn't respond. Good. I'm glad to hear it. Are you hungry? I think it's breakfast time! The head doesn't respond. I'm so glad you're here. You let me do all the talking!
00:39:23
Speaker
And I'm just gonna, yeah, start to don my armour at the same time, whistling a tune, like a patriotic sleep guardian tune, and look at Eric has to do like the core parts. And the head says nothing. I'm gonna cast Speak with Dead on it.
00:39:47
Speaker
It's brilliant, I'm loving every moment of the show. What do you need me to do, Danny? What do you need from me, mate? It is allowed to answer the questions, I pose. It lasts for 10 minutes. If the corpse has died within the last 10 days, which it has, I can do it. The corpse only knows what it knew in life.
00:40:15
Speaker
The spell doesn't return the creature's soul to its body, it goes back to being dead after the spell is done. Does it have to answer you? Answers are usually brief, cryptic or repetitive, and the corpse is under no compulsion to offer a truthful answer. Okay.
00:40:32
Speaker
Lovely, so what would you need to do in order, what would Claude do to set up this spell? You've got your armour on now, there's sunlight streaming in through the window. I would just caress the side of its head and plunge my thumb quite aggressively into the eye. And I would say in abyssal
00:40:55
Speaker
And there's this glowing dark pulsating light comes out of my fingertips and into the cranium of this head. And as you do that, the jaw slack already moves down slightly further and the one non-thumbed eye flickers open and you can see just a black eyeball within it with no pupil.

Plans to Free Thadron's Brother

00:41:20
Speaker
Hello. Why?
00:41:26
Speaker
You have left me on quite a goose chase. I have been all over the country trying to find you. And I am down glad that I took your head. The head doesn't respond. Why did you do all this? Why did you try and turn all the dead? Power!
00:41:55
Speaker
I was really hoping that there would be a cooler thing than that. Like, ah, they took my woman or I just needed to get them creepy things out of the graveyard. No. But seriously, who told you the source of all your powers?
00:42:25
Speaker
KEE-FA! No... You're lying. Dad says nothing. Uh-oh, shit. Was there anything, like, you know, before you went crazy? Like, any family or anything like that that we could just say, yeah, he's moved on? NOOO! Were you alone all this time?
00:42:57
Speaker
Oh, Eraqas, I'm sorry to hear that. Everyone deserves someone to weep at their funeral. The head says nothing. Oh well. I cannot wait to introduce you to my friendly incinerator. Who is that? It's a big pit of fire. Well, I'm going to drop your head in and it burns to ash.
00:43:27
Speaker
That's what you get when you make me sweat, my friend. When the kingdoms crumble, closets will return. Closets? And the eyes flicker. Well, that's a very odd thing to say.
00:43:56
Speaker
No one's gonna believe me when I tell them I spoke to you after I took your head off. Probably not. Nighty night. I hope the bed bugs spiked. Your soul will reap a thousand deaths, you fool. Yours won't though, will it?
00:44:25
Speaker
I'm just gonna, have I got a chamber pot? Yeah, sure. I'm gonna dunk his head in the chamber pot. Oh, I could do with a little urination myself. And I'm gonna wait, we in the chamber pot. Wow. And the head turns up towards you and just says, you lack potassium. I don't even know what that is, my friend.
00:44:54
Speaker
as the eyes flicker and the eye shuts and the jaw stiffens. There's a wee bit of lecrophilia in water sports in all of that. That's a concern.
00:45:10
Speaker
So, yes, that's what I've done. I've put on my clothes, I've made a new teddy bear, I've spoken to Eric Cass, he's just told me... Can you just repeat that because I was having too much fun. Unfortunately, I'm not going to do that, Danny. OK, OK. All right. You're going to have to listen back to this episode, the fellowship with disableds up. Yeah, we'll get an answer to that in 12 weeks time. What was the thought?
00:45:38
Speaker
I thought when you said I was gonna do a couple of things you'd be like yeah clean the armour put it on have a stretch go downstairs no no that was that was quite an adventure Danny and I'm glad I went on it with you thanks man I'm now just going to leave because I realized that walking around with a severed head is a bit strange so I'm going to leave the head in the chamber bot and walk around with the chamber pot now
00:46:02
Speaker
Okay, so you step outside the door with a copper chamber pot under your right arm and you see Robin standing directly opposite you. Hi Robin. Claude. Did you sleep okay? That's fine, thank you and yourself. I had a great night's sleep.
00:46:25
Speaker
I have been so tired, but once I realised that I have completed my quest and removed Eraqas's head, I slept like a baby. Okay. Good. Well, I won't ask what you've done with that thing. Good. See that you don't. It's in my chamber pot.
00:46:49
Speaker
Okay, good. Was hungry, not so sure anymore. But either way, I'm going downstairs. Can I come? I'm hungry.
00:47:02
Speaker
Of course you can. Yes!
00:47:32
Speaker
chamber pot yes please why do you have a chamber pot with would you like me to throw out its contents so no no need I to have a strange cyst I know I will take excuse me I have a strict nobody cleans up my piss policy right but I will happily take it from you so if you wouldn't I will not be parting with this chamber pot right are you going to steal it no I will buy it off you
00:48:02
Speaker
Very well, that's strange, but I will, here is your, I'll put it on the table because you don't have the hands for the soup and the chamber pot, and he pops them down the table next to, next to Folly and next to Drago. Claude, please don't put that thing around the breakfast table. Why not? What are you doing with the chamber pots all around us? Is that a bowl of piss?
00:48:23
Speaker
right so what happened was people got scared that there was a head on the loose so i thought i'd put erica's head in the chamber pot and then people would just think wow that man's weird he's carrying a chamber pot
00:48:40
Speaker
Yeah, but it smells a little bit. No more than Drago. Whoa! Hey, okay. Can we take a party vote that the chamber pot does not come to the breakfast table? I'll put it under the bench. Can you put it under a bench on the other side of the tavern or better yet outside? Absolutely not. I'm not letting this head out of my sight. Actually, to his point, we need that head to rescue his brother and Drago points to the barkeep.
00:49:10
Speaker
Hello. Also, I just spoke with Eraqas. I'm sorry, what? In your head. No, one of the abilities that the master has granted me is the ability to speak with the heads that I have removed.
00:49:34
Speaker
Right. And what did you... talk about? He didn't... he wasn't the most friendly. No, I assume he wouldn't be after you took his head off his body. Why did you want to speak to him? I mean... Well, at first, I just wanted to, you know... just show off a bit, like... If you want your own...
00:50:03
Speaker
I wanted to, in front of him. He let me on quite a goose chase. I had to go to some right weird places like Clay Peak to find him. I wanted to put him in a bowl of piss and wee on him. Follow, isn't speaking to dead things necromancy? Isn't necromancy bad? Necromancy is normally very bad.
00:50:29
Speaker
Look, right, Kastan. When we're on the road, there's some things I will bring you up to speed on. OK. Are you a necromancer? Absolutely not. OK, that's good. You can talk to the dead. That's normally... I'm quite familiar with magical circles, and yes, talking to the dead is very normally a necromancer type of thing. Yeah, but our party and the undead seem to go hand in hand. I can't say I'm too surprised by this.
00:50:59
Speaker
Well, nobody said anything about holding hands with the dead when I joined you guys. We're not holding hands with any dead. Nobody ever said anything about talking to them either, but that seems to have happened. Well, I'll have some information, but I'll keep it to myself. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. If you have information, you will share it with the company. Right. So whilst I was
00:51:27
Speaker
boasting about the fact that he no longer has a life, he uttered some rhyme. I don't remember all of it, but apparently something to do with closets will rise again.
00:51:48
Speaker
As an expert of words, was he just a bit crazy? He was after all called the lunatic. Yeah, he said some crazy things. But normally when people remember rhyming, it's because they get repeated a lot, you know, in like chants and things.
00:52:11
Speaker
Closets? I'm not sure. The word wasn't closet, it sounded like closet and I can't think of what it actually was. Claude, are you ever with us? Yeah. Are you worried about what he said to you? I mean, I always thought that there was a bigger, darker, bad thing.
00:52:33
Speaker
Maybe this word what sounds like closets is the big bad dark thing as well. Are you concerned about what he told you? Do you know? A little bit, yes. Then we will be concerned too. So if you could all keep your ears paid for a word or a name that sounds like closets but isn't closets. You absolutely cannot remember what it actually was.
00:53:18
Speaker
Are you suggesting you're going to wash it? Excuse me, Robin, but I have been on a hunt for a long time. And if I want to put douse him and marinate him in my own urine, I think that's a small price to pay for my time. Sorry, Darren, go on. Fine, but I just remind you that we are here to assist with getting these people to join the bigger fight. I'm not entirely sure that
00:53:30
Speaker
I was very much carried away in the excitement of talking to a dead thing.
00:53:48
Speaker
offering of a piss-soaked head is? Well, all they're probably going to do with it is stick it on a pike and I'm pretty sure we can convince them to take the head. First things first, we're just going to use the head to get his brother out.
00:54:07
Speaker
That's the first step. Anything after that we can deal with as we get to it. Whether or not it's covered in piss, shit, blood, it doesn't matter. We have a clear objective here. Let's not deviate from it too much. Robin's probably right. I think I might just empty and dry it out and just carry it in a bag. I would appreciate that. Lady Grenda is probably more useful for convincing people being she's sure stuff.
00:54:33
Speaker
Rather than just a head? I agree and Lady Gendre... Lady Glendre is key to this but you need evidence with the words and Eraqas's head is the evidence. Yep. Also I spoke to Madame Arquord, she says hello. Oh, who's that?
00:55:01
Speaker
I'll tell you one another time. She's the leader of my organisation. Okay. Also, Drago, pop this in your bag and I'll reach across the table and give him a teddy bear. Oh god. What do you want to do with the old one? Oh well, you can just keep that if you want or I'll have it back. They're only good for one spell. Fine, this actually did.
00:55:28
Speaker
Did, begrudgingly, this came in handy. And Drago takes the bear, swaps it with the other one, puts that on the table.
00:55:36
Speaker
Thank you. We'll just keep this going. Such a bad character flaw you've given me. I think everyone at the table probably just watches a six-stage happen without saying a word. That's because Drago, as he reaches over the table to take the bear, he gives each one of you a levelled look, as if to say, do not mention this. This is embarrassing. You know it is. I know it is. Let's just get through it.
00:56:04
Speaker
Claude, we have received some letters for Helena. I don't know if you want to run and get her up. I can go knock on her door. Why does she receive letters? I assume it's something to do with being a princess.
00:56:27
Speaker
I've got to say that quietly, Drago. Why? No one knows that she's here. But no one else is here but us. All I know, Folly, not Folly, Claude, is that the little boy from yesterday that showed us round, he brought me two letters or two scrolls, one with a blue seal on it, that's the symbol of Tiriani, and one which is a red one that has a large star on it. Hey, Robbie. They were for someone called HS.
00:56:56
Speaker
And guess how we managed to persuade the boy to receive the letters? I don't know. Get this guy. And Robin Drago points to Karsten, took Helena's name. Well, no, no, no. The person said, are you HS? And I really went, yes, that's me. I'm an actor. It's what I do. No, no, it's OK. It's just that Robin now has to prepare for another battle.
00:57:24
Speaker
Well, Carson, you don't have to justify it. Thankfully, the member of our party who would take quite serious issue with such a thing is no longer with us. Are we sure they're there for the princess? Well, I concluded, Claude, that being as Helen as the only one whose name matches the letters HS, they must be for her. How do you spell cast, Dan? I mean, we could... With a C. We could just open them here if you'd rather.
00:57:55
Speaker
How do you spell Drago? With a D. Do you know how to spell, Claude? I can't write. I can teach you. Okay. Do I have to charge? I don't have much money.
00:58:11
Speaker
Um, Mark. Yes. Just to expediate this, Robin has snapped his fingers and in Talia and Helena's room, Nura has just appeared on Talia's bed, which is where she laughs, and just trying to wake up the people in that room.

Investigating Juliet's Room

00:58:28
Speaker
Just, just, just to expediate this conversation.
00:58:31
Speaker
Oh, there was nothing expediated about that conversation. What, eight, ten minutes? I know, but Robin was listening to this and he was like, oh, last time I had Nura, she was with Talia. Good. Snats his fingers and the cat's now just in that room as if for the love of God, please wake up. And you can see through Nura's eyes, can't you?
00:58:51
Speaker
I'm not doing that at the minute because everyone else at the table would see me go for a brand start. And it's a bit creepy doing it. It is creepy. I would probably get on you because that's what you did last time. Yeah, but I can instruct her without doing that. So that she's just appeared back next to Talia. Cool. Yeah, kids, that's a lesson to you. Don't use your familiars to spy on women. You do hear a loud thub on the ground.
00:59:19
Speaker
and we roll upstairs and Helena as you're just coming around from what groggy nights sleep this seems to have been a long couple of days for you over the last couple of days and you wake up to back and you turn over and you see Tali kind of face down on the floor for a second then looks up and you see this small slightly iconic looking cat sat on the bed
00:59:45
Speaker
What's going on? It's Robin. It's as familiar. Hey Neura. And she puts out a finger to stroke her head. Fuck's sake. What's he doing up here? Oh, he's sleeping. I'm sorry, madam. It was probably just a... Oh, he opens the window. Oh, it's quite late. I think probably we slept in a bit. Oh, right. Let's get up then. One thing I do not like is being woken up from my sleep.
01:00:12
Speaker
Oh, well, I'll bear that in mind in the future. That's okay, it wasn't your fault. Did you sleep okay? Yes, I slept very well, thank you. How did you... Considering what? Did I snore? I'm sorry if I snore. No, no, no, no. Considering of how I woke up very joltedly. Oh, I see. How are you feeling after yesterday, after the fight with Eric Ass? I'm feeling...
01:00:42
Speaker
OK, I suppose. I hadn't really thought about it. It's probably for the best we just forget about it and move on. Aye, sounds fair. And she... Are you OK? I am... I'm OK, again, considering, and she kind of points to her face where there are still those marks, those kind of bubbles going to burn marks on her face, considering, again,
01:01:05
Speaker
But no, I'm Will. She turns to the door to reach the handout to grab the handout, opens it, pauses a second, then closes it again and turns to you. I hope you don't find this too presumptuous. But why are you here? If you don't mind me asking. Well, I thought I'd told everybody. When we saw you, I've got my business. Aye, but you said you need to go to Blackmouth, but I was just wondering.
01:01:35
Speaker
What was it you're looking for? I mean, is there anything we can help with? Because you seem to have done us a soul lead by helping with air casts. I just felt, is there anything we could do to help you? Well, I don't know if there is, but there's trouble with my mother and I wish to see to her, to get to the bottom of her illness. Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to...
01:02:00
Speaker
No, no, no, no. It's fine. It's fine. But just keep it to yourself for now. I thought I'd mentioned it, but if I hadn't, then that's something that I'd like to now keep to my chest until further notice. Okay. Well, thank you for sharing. I didn't mean to pray, and she'll open the door and start to walk downstairs. What do you want to do? Yeah, go downstairs.
01:02:22
Speaker
Okie dokie. So you head downstairs and you see everyone sat around the table. You do see also a, you can smell it actually, a chamber pot of urine nearby as well. She'll have a grimace on her face and she'll say, what in, what on earth is that smell?
01:02:44
Speaker
No, this isn't a thing. Have you washed this morning? Well, no, but it's beside the point. He brought down a vat of piss with him. Never mind, fully, but I just require a quick second of your time. Yes, yes, yes, of course, if you wish. Could you do anything about the smell? Are we private at the moment? No, no, just hushed a bit.
01:03:13
Speaker
I should admit, okay. Well, if you insist, Folly is basically going to cast, let me just have a look see, because I can't remember which one it is. Yeah, if I cast Prestidigitation on it, I can basically make the smell, I can basically cover the smell with a stronger smell.

Strategies Against the Undead

01:03:34
Speaker
What smell do you want to cover?
01:03:38
Speaker
autumn breeze. Ooh, how specific calum, I love it! So all of you all of a sudden have this rush of the smell of crumpled leaves slightly decaying but in a really kind of nice way. You miss trees actually, there are many trees around this part of Sleet Guard and the trees you were near wilted in a very different way.
01:03:58
Speaker
And suddenly the barge of smells of a different kind of smell, covering part of this stew as well, as you all come and sit down. Thank you, Folly. It's very embarrassing for a knight of the realm to reveal the odour of his urine in front of a princess.
01:04:13
Speaker
Fadron comes around and delivers two more bowls of stew to the table, then again putting Helenas down and giving just a very slight nod, not bow, somewhere in between. Very, very small one. And then walking away quite quietly. Can I grab his wrist as he's putting down my stew and say to him, have you got any fruit? I do not want stew this early in the morning. And is there any coffee, for goodness sake?
01:04:41
Speaker
Unfortunately, madam, we do not have any coffee. We haven't any coffee here for quite some time. However, I can see if I can find any apples. I believe I have your lady ship. And he just quickly... Please take this away, thank you. And he picks up the stew and pours it back into the pot and makes his way into the kitchen to look for some apples. Helena, I've got your post.
01:05:10
Speaker
My post. Yeah, a little boy there delivered two letters addressed to someone called HS, which I assumed was you. Okay, I wasn't expecting any letters, but thank you. Here you go.
01:05:28
Speaker
Yep, thank you. I'll take those. So you've got two letters. You've got one with a light blue wax, a symbol of a fist clutching a quill and a sprig of rosemary, which you know to be the symbol of Tiriani. And you have one which is your family sigil, a sealed red wax with a star pressed into it. I will open carefully the royal one first. OK. And are you wanting this to be private? Do you want the others to see and hear?
01:05:57
Speaker
Yeah, can I have it private, please? Okay, both of them. No, just the first one will be fine. No problem. So we'll do the other one first, then. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then we'll do that one. So you're opening the one with the sealed blue... Yeah, the 2019 one's fine, yeah, yeah. So as you open it up and you read the letter, it's a very nice, very polite, it seems, cursive handwriting, taking quite some time over this letter. It's a nice bit of parchment as well. And it says, Your Highness.
01:06:24
Speaker
Firstly, may I extend my thanks to your aid in ridding our oldest graveyard of those demonic creatures. I do hope you are all safe under the guidance of Tiriani. I have sent supplies and a keeper of the garden to the site to bless and oversee the rebuilding of the broken mausoleum, an ancient obelisk that stood at its center.
01:06:46
Speaker
Tiriani and her order thank you for your heroism and kindness and I pray for you and your companions. I was so shaken up by the ordeal that I realised I had no way to pass on the information I promised to you. After a day in Goldview, tending to the gardens here, it suddenly struck me that I had not sent over what I know, what Tiriani showed me.
01:07:08
Speaker
You seek that which might cure your mother. You seek a way to cure the blights. Your course is true and faithful and you must continue. Keltrad The substance revered in Drolak is what you seek.
01:07:33
Speaker
The orange rocks can be ground down and ingested. Its use is banned in sleep guard, but you seek it as a cure, as a way to save your mother. But remember that this is a highly controlled substance, and even a member of the royal family like yourself might be subject to harsh penalties if caught in possession.
01:07:54

Not only this, but it is also worth a vast sum of gold. If people hear about your possession, you will be targeted for assassination or robbery. Please be careful, my child. There is a rumour that up on the Skellroad Mountains is a plateau known as the Skellroad Verdant. Tiriani showed it to me once, a lush and inviting area of an otherwise bleak landscape.
01:08:18
Speaker
It holds diverse plant life and green grass throughout. It looks very much like one of the Tiriani Gardens. Up there, past the verdant, is a cave. Within this cave is a collection of keltrad.
01:08:34
Speaker
only take what you need, your highness. Hide its knowledge from those you travel with, as this material might hold the key to helping your mother, but also brings great danger to you and your companions. I hope to see you at the forthcoming Hastiania in Goldview. Justice, joy, and knowledge for all.
01:08:58
Speaker
Casey, I've just sent you the link so you can have a read of it because you'd have the letter to yourself. Thank you. It's a substance that is revered within Dralak. I might have mispronounced that, but it's revered in Dralak. It's not in Dralak. It is. Just reading back over it. In the Skelroad Mountains, there is a plateau known as Skelroad Verdant.
01:09:18
Speaker
scale road is the name of the mountain that you are sat outside of you know that that area behind you right next to blackmouth is the scale road mountains and you're looking for a plateau upon that called the scale road verdant beyond that is a cave that she says might have a collection of this keltrad i know we're kind of having to backtrack slightly but would there have been a point in that letter which you would have moved away if you want to that is
01:09:43
Speaker
No, I probably have that all out. I'll read that to them. I'll read it really quietly. And with the parts where it says, keep such and such hidden from your people, I'll probably go a bit quieter. But then I'll say to them, I understand that this is something that I've been asked to do and I need to do. And I know that I'm going to be with you all.
01:10:12
Speaker
so far as you'll have me and so I feel it wrong to keep this information from you so please
01:10:20
Speaker
just keep this all under your hat whilst we're together. I understand Sheila would not have said this to me if she'd known that I was going to relay this to such people that could get me into trouble. And I trust you. And I know that I haven't met you for long. I haven't been with your party for long, but we've already been through a small, well, journey together. And so if you'll understand it, keep this on your hats.
01:10:51
Speaker
the rest of the group are kind of looking a bit. Well, how are they looking? Let's start with Robin. What's your response to this letter? Are you okay, however? Yes. Yes, I'm fine. Can I just get some fresh air, please? With that, I will just stand up and nod to the rest of the party and just leave outside. I'll just stand outside.
01:11:18
Speaker
I kind of like the fact that she just gets up and does things. I don't know, that speaks to me. And we go out with you, Helena, is there anything you want to do whilst out there? Or is it just taking some air? Actually, no, before I do that, I'm just gonna ask the party. Where's Julia, by the way? I haven't seen her this morning. Is she not coming with us? She should be in a room.
01:11:47
Speaker
She's, well, me and Claude were up first. We haven't seen anyone but you guys, so I assume she's still in her room. Does anyone want to knock for her or are we leaving her here? No, we need her. We need her. I thought we did. I'll go knock on her door. I can be, I can be diplomatic. It's okay. Right. And then with that, then I'll get up and then I'll walk out. Okay. And are you planning on opening that other letter?
01:12:15
Speaker
Yeah, I'll open that just as I get outside. Okay, Ricky. So just before that, because you want to do that off mic for the others. So just before that, Karstan, you're going to walk up, you're going to go up to the door of Julia, Grenda, and knock. Is that right? I will knock on the door. Give a nice cheerful rap on the door. So Karstan, we jump back over to you inside and you take the stairs up and you realise by your powers of deduction that it's the only door that's still really shut.
01:12:44
Speaker
And it is about midway down the corridor on the right, two doors down from where yours was. The door is shut. And as you start to approach it, you've got very, very high perception. You start to get a smell in your nostrils. And it's not a smell of the autumn leaves downstairs or indeed the urine, which is now seeping into your nostrils from Claude or indeed the stew or the smoke from your pipe.
01:13:07
Speaker
This is a very different smell, an odd smell that seems to emanate from Julia's room. And as you... I think you said you gave a rather jovial knock to the door, is that right? I did, yes. A jovial knock to the door, you hear from inside, I'll be down in a minute. Is everything okay? Fine. I'll be down in a minute. Okay. And...
01:13:35
Speaker
As you start to move away from that door, this strange smell, not necessarily a bad smell or a good smell, but just a, you don't recognize it at all. That seems to emanate from that room as you walk away and hit the stairs. You do hear the click of the door and out steps a more composed Julia stood there looking calmly down towards you. Karsten, at some point I will explain that to you.
01:14:04
Speaker
But until now, let's just... No. Shall we? And she gestures to walk down the stairs. Okay, I would tell you to brace there are an aroma of smells downstairs in the bar. Thank you. And she walks past you to head down the stairs and sees the rest of you sat around the table. Hello, says Tali. Good morning, everyone. Did she leave a room open?
01:14:30
Speaker
Yes. Ooh. Could he see into the room from where he was stood? No, you'd move too far down the corridor. You'd have to backtrack on yourself in order to look into the room. Does he go and have a look? Does he? You're a new man, Will. You're not healthy. Does curiosity kill the cat? Um... Flip a coin. I will flip a coin. You're leaving it to fate. Does cast dance flip the coin? No, you're a damn character.
01:14:59
Speaker
Oh, this is, I'm gonna go have a quick look. You're not gonna go in, you're just gonna peer into the door, into the room, into the doorway. Could you roll, I don't know, stealth, sleight of hand? I can, yeah. Do you mind that she might know you're looking? Well, he'd let her go ahead of him. Well, do stealth anyway. Just to see whether he notices him hang back. 25. She does not.
01:15:29
Speaker
realize you've hung back. Okay. And as you peer into the room, you see this room is different from your room and all the other rooms you can see into. She seems to have been here for a bit longer. As you look around, you see nothing as your quick glance. This isn't like a full investigation. Nothing which could explain the smell, but there seems to be nothing out of place of a woman of
01:15:54
Speaker
repute and a woman of respect within an area. So she's well to do with small trinkets and rolls of parchment on a table which seems to have been written on. There are an assortment of clothes neatly folded on a chair next to the bed. There are a couple of bowls and plates that have been obviously used there for a couple of days and also a bed that has been made up. Aside from that, it seems well lived in but nothing which could explain this smell.
01:16:23
Speaker
That's cool, he wouldn't go into the room as I say, he'd actually sort of give it a passive curse over with his eyes just to see if he could see anything. But then that, he will then jauntily stroll downstairs. Jauntily, lovely. And as you jauntily come down the stairs, Julia has just presented herself, not presented herself, has just sat down at the table. Good morning, everyone. I am sorry I slept in and I haven't slept well for the last couple of days. How are we all?
01:16:51
Speaker
Don't all talk at once. Fine. We're all good. Are you still feeling the ill effects of the dark? I am, if I'm being honest, and it, uh, that was a strange sleep, uh, uh, deep and, uh, and worrying, but nonetheless, here I am. Now, what is the plan for today?
01:17:16
Speaker
Okay, well, we need to get, um, and Drago calls over the barkeep. Hello. I forgot his name. Telfan? Me? Yeah. My name is Thadron. Thadron, I knew it was beginning with T. Thadron, are you sure? Right, it was kinda right, I mean, I know your name, Drago. Son of Dangan, you know. Okay, don't creep me out like that. Well, you said it earlier, I just- Theldron here.
01:17:46
Speaker
Fadron, I just said it like a minute ago. It's all right, I forgive you. You're saving my brother. It's like 20 to 12 in a long week. I'm at my age. Oh, fuck. What's his name? Fadron. Fadron. Fadron. Fadron. Fadron. Okay, thank you. Fadron, his brother is incarcerated.
01:18:13
Speaker
Wanted for a crime he didn't commit. Wanted for the crime of the death of the guard you saw Eraqas kill. And we promised that we would get him released. And that is what we're doing today. With your aid. And you need me as a witness. Witness? Of course. Well... There is also the matter of the Horde underneath the mines. Indeed.
01:18:42
Speaker
There are a number of things we need to talk with the locals here regarding, and I think firstly, Thadron, what is the name of your brother that's incarcerated? It's Krital. You met him once passing through, actually. Well, I'm sorry, I didn't catch his name then. He must be a good man if he is a brother of yours. We will escort...
01:19:04
Speaker
I will, this group will escort me over, Padron, to deal with that and we will speak with the Hailstorm Surge outside of the town. And then we will all need to speak with Kennard, the leader of the Blackmouth Rangers, to discuss what we do with the Blight under the Skelroad Mountains. And then perhaps the greater threat to the entire Kingdom, to try and get these people to not be rebels
01:19:32
Speaker
Yes, but I think one thing at a time, Karsten, we'll deal with what we can control. But yes, eventually, some kind of alliance might be formed between these two groups. But firstly, I'm going to have some breakfast. And on that, she's going to stand up and head over to the
01:19:50
Speaker
station to grab some stew as the camera moves away as she joins back to the table, deep in discussion about what they're going to be talking about as they make their way into the later evening. And that's where we're going to leave it for this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. I mean, what's the head? That was brilliant. We just woke up. We just woke up. It was amazing. I loved it.
01:20:12
Speaker
Lord is quickly becoming my favourite character. That whole segment was hilarious. I could just picture it clearly and you just opening your window, dropping this head, going, ahh, and falling out after it to try and capture it. It was just brilliant. It occurred to me about 20 minutes into the episodes.

Comedic Situations and Messages

01:20:31
Speaker
that I went to bed with a severed head. So how would Claude deal with that? And you played it. He was a bit of a comedian. And I was going to serenade him, sing Oh What a Beautiful Morning, maybe comb his hair, but you know, I decided to pull it back a bit from that. And then some interesting stuff that came out of Eraqas' dead head. Something to do with cabinets. What the fuck did he say? I would love to repeat it, but I just feel... Yeah, no, it's better that I didn't understand it.
01:21:01
Speaker
Yeah, and also you put me on the spot like that, I'm going to give you cryptic as fuck. It's only I knew you would still modify memory because I could make Claude remember that thing perfectly.
