Introduction and Cast Introduction

00:00:00
Speaker
Mightn't I have suggested the next time you ask for volunteers you tell them that you have a habit of blowing them up?
00:00:32
Speaker
Hello and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play 5e D&D podcast set in the world of Erith. My name is Mark and I am a dungeon master and I just brewed myself some decaf coffee. And also with us for today's episode we have Ian who plays the Dragonborn Barbarian Drago. Decaf coffee man. Oh yeah, decaf. Got some beans, some

new beans. It's great, it's a great new thing. What up? Keeps me sane. We've got Darren who plays the human fighter Rogue Robin.
00:00:59
Speaker
Holy beard birdie. Bad man? What was that? What on earth? I moved my beard buddy and chucked it choked a little bit of my beer maretti. So advert in there for beer maretti. We've got Danny who plays the human cleric, Claude. Bonjour. We've got Callan who plays the gnome sorcerer, folly, fizzlebang the ninth. Hello, hello. Casey who plays the human champion, Helen, a sleep guard.
00:01:23
Speaker
oh hello and we have will who plays the human bard castan hello everybody i'm drinking a beer whose name you can't mention right now copyright reasons oh not copyright reasons no casey you sounded genuinely surprised i said your name then what about like you did we did we get a cord yeah we've done cord yeah i blacked out he said french stuff
00:01:47
Speaker
I think you'll find it's Italian. It's been like 30 seconds and I can't remember. We apologise to all our French and Italian listeners out there. To which there are growing in numbers. On last week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop, we woke up and had breakfast.
00:02:04
Speaker
So on this week's episode, that's pretty much all that happened. We had the party slowly wake up from the large battle against Eraqas. We returned to the inn of Thadron, sorry not Thadron, I've forgotten his name, yeah it was Thadron, the owner of the bar who had asked them kind of
00:02:24
Speaker
kind of asked them to go and explain why his brother, Hentler, was actually not guilty of this crime of murder from one of the guards. And they returned there, and they spent the night, and the party slowly come downstairs. However, Claude decided to awaken the head of Eraqas, which he had skewered through the tongue, firstly, with a spike, and then woke him up using one of his clericky spells, his eyes of the dead, like grave of the...

the dead. I know they're dead in it probably and tried to glean some information out of Eric House even though he basically had no tongue anymore and he was just a head which led to much hilarity, consternation, headache on my part I don't know which and then the head then was put into a pot of urine and was urinated upon and then taken downstairs. The party slowly kind of got themselves together and the last up was Julia and
00:03:18
Speaker
cast someone up to receive would kind of retrieve her so we had the whole party together and we'd all just sat down around this table to figure out what the plan of action was for today so
00:03:29
Speaker
Helena had also received two letters, hadn't she? She had, exactly, thank you very much. Helen had received two letters, one which she had read out to the group, the other she had kept to herself and read outside in the cool morning air of black mouth. Now, we find ourselves, Helena returns back in from the door into the bar and places herself down as Julia just finishes up the last bit of her breakfast and turns to you all and says, so what's the plan today?
00:04:00
Speaker
We are going to go and, um, save Thadron's brother, Hentler. Alright, so I'm guessing we're going to be leaving Blackmouth and going back to the hailstorm search that's just outside, is that right? That's correct. Oh no, no, no, he's in the city now. We brought him into the city. Oh, fantastic. Well, he's probably going to be kept with Kennard then, so I think I know where we need to go. Before we set off, this Kennard, it sounds like you know him. Yes, I do.
00:04:30
Speaker
What do you make of the man? What should we expect? Kennard is a man of black mouth and she kind of sits down again after half kind of standing up. He's a man of black mouth and he has lived here his whole life. He is good friends with Jamis, Jamis Hardgrieve, who obviously is the proprietor who runs the whole of black mouth.
00:04:55
Speaker
Though I should probably tell you that James has gone missing in the last couple of couple of weeks and Ken already has kind of been left in control much to his disdain. He runs the Rangers. That's his job. That's what he loves.

Insights into Characters and Weapons

00:05:09
Speaker
But now he's being thrust into this position of authority. It doesn't suit him to be honest. And he is let's just say stressed to say the least. Out of his depth. I'd say so.
00:05:24
Speaker
What is it the Rangers do? The big thing the Rangers are really famous for in these parts is starting the rebellion against sleep guard, against the rest of the kingdom particularly. They are the militia. They're an elite fighting force actually. Calling them a militia is
00:05:44
Speaker
rude to say the least, they're very well trained. They fight up in the mountains, they train at heights, and their training is incredible. If you ever get a chance to see Kennard in action, it's quite a sight to behold, and any of the Rangers for that matter. And Blackmouth is currently sort of in rebellion again, isn't it?
00:06:04
Speaker
Yes, Bard, in a way. It happened once before, hence why we sit in the ruins of a giant city. But Sleepguard has other concerns. And so from my view, in Goldview, at least, they've put a force outside to say, hey, we'll keep an eye on it. Don't fuck anything up. But primarily, they're more concerned with the Blight, as I'm sure you are. Yes, talking about the Blight.
00:06:33
Speaker
Unless anyone's got any more questions, I'd say we make haste. Oh, of course. What was that thing that Kelvesan said we should look for when we are here? Bionics Reaver. Bionics Reaver. That was it. I was trying to keep that away from new members of the room. I already knew about it. Not you.
00:07:01
Speaker
You can trust the present. I'm talking about Julia. Right here. Have you heard of this thing before, Julie? It's Julia, and what was it called again? Well, we didn't mind. She didn't hear us the first time.
00:07:21
Speaker
Okay. That's odd. This is called the Lost Socks. We've been trying to find our socks. Julia, we're on our way to find... Our main mission is to stop the Blight. You might have known that by now. And we found some key information out and involves a weapon, I believe, called the Onyx Reaver. And we're trying to find it. And apparently, Hentler,
00:07:50
Speaker
the bartender's brother who we're trying to save has some information with regards to it. We don't know if it's whereabouts or we don't really know what it is outside of its name. So that's what we're trying to find. She takes a moment and takes the information that Dragos just told her in. I have heard rumors. I can confirm it as a weapon. It is a dagger.
00:08:17
Speaker
aside from that i know nothing else and to imagine that this hentler this brother of a bartender knows much more is pressing it he might have just been desperate for some help but we can listen to him nonetheless but if anyone will know anything
00:08:38
Speaker
The Onyx Reaver and its whereabouts, especially down here, it's Kennard.

Rescue Mission Begins

00:08:44
Speaker
He knows the Skelrope Mountains better than anyone. He knows Blackmouth. Well, all paths lead somewhere, so even if this turns out to be a dead end, I'm sure there'll be some more information that we can ascertain from this.
00:08:59
Speaker
Absolutely. You don't seem like you're from these parts, so I'm sure any information would be useful information. Indeed. Shouldn't we hurry to go and get Hentler out of prison? Because they've got him now, and they think he murdered someone. Aren't they just going to hang him? Yes. Look, they don't behead people before lunch. It's uncivilized. I would know. Why would you know? I used to kill people.
00:09:29
Speaker
Okay, fair enough. She doesn't bat an eyelid at that. Shall we go? Please.
00:09:36
Speaker
Yeah, I think that's a good idea. Let's go. Where did you say we were going? Well, I didn't actually, young girl, but we are heading to the broken castle, just not too far from here. It's just up the road slightly. And it's in the, gosh, the name leaves me now, the upper ward. That's it. You might have seen it. It's near where the entrance to the mines was right at the back there. Come with me. Like I said, just play it.
00:10:04
Speaker
relax with Kennard a bit. He is a bit uptight. He is not for his own misgivings. There's a lot going on, if you can imagine. Julia, did you say Kennard is aware of the increasing number of undead in that mine?
00:10:19
Speaker
Kennard's view of the dead, and as she says this, as she's kind of standing up, I'd imagine we all do. His view of the dead is somewhat negligible. There's a big argument going on with Jena at the moment about whether or not to shut the mine or not.
00:10:35
Speaker
He thinks we can handle it. She, Jena, says we can't. Hey, she might be a useful ally to have on our side, especially if we want to shut the mine, which I think we do. Also, we want to shut the portal that has gotten into the mine. Surely burying the portal into a mountain of rock will pretty much shut it. I hope so. That's my thinking in this matter, that the portal is
00:11:01
Speaker
three sides and she gets wet her finger in some of these two that's left on the table and she draws the three sides of a box leaving the bottom empty if a portal is three sides it needs it's it needs a frame in which to contain the magica this is my i mean i'm not a magic user at all but this is the way i see it that if you were to break and she draws a line through the top one
00:11:24
Speaker
If you were to break this structure, surely that magical energy would not be able to be contained and therefore the portal would no longer exist. A young man, and she gestures to folly, I saw you use magic earlier in the mine. Would you say that makes sense to you?
00:11:49
Speaker
Folly, while she'd actually been talking about this, just basically kind of rubbing his chin slightly, listening intently. He's not had much experience with portals or anything of such nature. So he's just going to be feigning intelligence and understanding and just be like, well, your knowledge certainly did seem quite

Negotiations and Alliances

00:12:07
Speaker
sound. I can't seem to find fault in it at the moment. I would like to study it further, however. But I suppose there's only one way to find out, and that's by giving it a go.
00:12:17
Speaker
Or we could lower you down into the mine in front of the portal if you really want to study it. I would prefer we don't do that. I've got a long rope. We can tie you up and just kind of dump you down the well. How about I just throw you down, Drago? I'd love to see you try that. Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen, a man's life hangs in the balance. Quite literally, they hang in blackmouth. Fair enough. Let's go. I think it's wise to depart.
00:12:44
Speaker
I agree, Robin. Let's leave. And she leads the way out. Are we following? We staying? Following. Following. We leave the tavern and the bright sunlight of Blackmouth hits your faces. The darkness of the inn kind of got you used to a darker amount of light and this bright warm day greets you.
00:13:05
Speaker
You take a right up a mudted path towards, and you can see it quite clearly now, the broken remains of the once impressive walls that make up this now disheveled and broken castle with its battlements. These walls are thick, thicker than you've seen in any other part of Sleepguard, but they are absolutely decimated. You continue to walk up the path, and you seem to be getting closer and closer. Julia is there talking at the front to Tali, telling a bit of information about the place as they approach.
00:13:35
Speaker
You head up to this area and she refers to it as Upper Ward and she stops just outside the entrance. They call it Jerry's Last Stand. It's the name they give it to the castle. It's not the official name but
00:13:51
Speaker
The people of Blackmouth don't really do things by half measures. We'll go in, but just like I said, take it easy. Be calm. Don't set him off. He's a great guy, but just, there's a lot going on.
00:14:06
Speaker
and she starts to walk towards this castle and in front of you you see this castle sits right into the mountains it's quite a once grand castle but most of it is now in ruin and rubble piles up on either side and it's been there long enough that
00:14:22
Speaker
plants have started to grow within the rubble, a testament to the enduring power of nature. Only the central portion of this castle remains with its two grand doors left battered and ajar. So you're kind of outside at the moment, all grouped up and Julia's kind of walked on ahead. Sorry, can I just ask, who's Jerry? Sorry? Jerry, you said this place was called Jerry's Last Stand.
00:14:49
Speaker
Jerry, J-A-R-R-Y. Who was A? Jerry is a folklore, he's legend. It's a long story, but to summarize, Jerry Entre was the first rebel of Sleet Garden. He started the first rebellion which caused the destruction you see. The people of Blackmouth treat him as a legend, so to speak.
00:15:16
Speaker
The last thing we heard of it, he was banished from the realm and he left to Drolak many years ago, many, many years ago now. We assume he's dead, many assume he's just made up kind of out of character, just assume it's kind of like a Robin Hood-esque character in terms of he's built up a reputation. Sorry, we've got one of those already. Hey, we need another.
00:15:42
Speaker
You get it. So she says, but it's a long story and maybe over, maybe over a drink one evening, I would tell you more. But for now, let's just, let's just, I'm going to go in and just set the scene. Okay. Come in when you're ready. And she, Julia walks off up the stairs towards the entrance and pushes the door open and walks in. What do you want to do? Immediately follow, I guess.
00:16:09
Speaker
uh yeah i think i'll cautiously tally on behind i will did we put um eric has his head in a bag in the end or am i still carrying a chamber pot i think you're still carrying a chamber pot correct i will sort of tuck the chamber pot beside my uh arm and my hip as though to disguise it's a little bit
00:16:34
Speaker
I love that you're carrying that round, it's brilliant. So... Oh, Folly... Folly? What? Do you think there's anything you could do to make this look a bit less like a chamber pot? Possibly. What would you like it to look like?
00:17:00
Speaker
Well, I just don't want to be bringing a bucket of piss to a person we need a favour from. Okay, very well, very well. Folly's going to do some quick enchanting. He's going to cast Minor Illusion, Cantrip. What he's basically going to do is just make the chamber pot now look like a present.
00:17:22
Speaker
So it's going to be boxed up just with a bow and all that kind of stuff on here just to make it look a little bit more appealing. Brilliant. Thank you, Floribeen. Floribeen! One more thing before we move on there, Claude, if you don't mind. You mentioned that you actually spoke to the head earlier. Could I possibly ask the next time you do that, you do it with somebody else there? Would that be a problem?
00:17:53
Speaker
Um, yeah, if I remember. Well, let me persuade it because I don't like the fact that you are talking to our enemies and especially ones that are already dead. So if you decide to talk to them again and you don't tell one of us, I will make you join them. Whoa. And with that, Folly is just going to casually wander off following everybody else. Amazing.
00:18:22
Speaker
Is anyone else around? I assume everyone had kind of just kind of walked off. Folly would have waited, obviously, with everyone going. Folly would have had the conversation with Claude about, first of all, making the chamber pot look a little bit more presentable. And then he would have said it, just make sure it's out of the shot of everybody else. I'm going to, if there's no one else around, I'm going to turn away from whatever guards might be out the front of this entrance. And I'm going to say a quick prayer and tell the master that Folly's very mean.
00:18:54
Speaker
That's fair, that's fair. I can't argue. Oh, I loved that. Oh. Callum, give yourself inspiration. Give yourself a D6 for that. Both for the present and for the threatened. I think that was great all around. Yeah, because you'll need it. Because when obviously it comes to healing, Claude's going to remember this. Not healing you and you'll need that, didn't you?
00:19:14
Speaker
Yeah, like the Telltale games. There's just been a little bit of text that says Claude will remember this. Yeah. Nobody talks with the white mage. I mean, he might remember it. You never know.
00:19:26
Speaker
Exactly. So as us being held back, the rest of you have walked in and what you've walked into is a tall single banquet room with all the chairs have been pressed up against the right hand wall. The windows behind you let these long kind of shafts of light colored by the stained glass that remains in the windows kind of shine into this room.
00:19:47
Speaker
Within the room, you see a grand table that's become basically an administrative office. Official papers and burnout candles, a series of black bows are stockpiled in the corner. You see a number of humans walking around, looking over papers, signing specific documents, many of them
00:20:03
Speaker
then hand these papers to a rather standoffish and disengaged human with a bow on his back. He stares off into the distance but continues to work through the paperwork. He's got like I said he's got this black bow and a quiver still on his back despite really no one else having any kind of weaponry on them at all.
00:20:23
Speaker
You just quickly walked in, you see Julia slightly ahead of you, and Folly and Claude, as you catch up, what you see straight off the bat is this man has, in an instant, this bow is whipped off his back, quiver, bow, arrow pulled, knocked back, holding it, pointing it towards you all. What makes you think you can just walk into Jerry's last stand without an invitation? Well, unless you've got more than one arrow, I think you might struggle.
00:20:52
Speaker
I'm not talking to the child, I'm talking to the large lizard standing in front of me. I beg your pardon? When the man pulled out the arrow, Cartham probably stepped behind Drago. Listen. We're here to help you put your arrow down. I don't want to cause any bloodshed here. It won't do you any good. Well persuasion.
00:21:21
Speaker
More like intimidation. Persuasion. Okay. I mean, you can go persuasion. You've just got to intimidate, intimidate him, but you've just got to intimidate him a bit more. Persuasion is a 19, so I'll take that. Okay. He looks at you, and you can see him slowly start to release the arrow. That arrow would have gone between your eyes if Julia wasn't here. Okay. I mean, you're going to have issues, I think.
00:21:50
Speaker
Are you gonna shut up and listen to what we've gotta say or are you gonna bitch and whine while we're here? I mean, I wasn't bitching and whining about anything. I was just saying you'd have an arrow between your eyes if Julia wasn't present with you. Your head will be rolling on the floor in a minute if you want to keep going down this road.
00:22:06
Speaker
Oh, what, from 60 feet away. Nice one with your big sword. I'll be impressed to see that happen. I'm a lot quicker than you give me credit for. Can I sort of pop his head around the side of drug code? If I could just interject, perhaps, gentlemen, we could leave the measuring contest later and we can get on with trying to save Hentler's life. Yeah, we're here for Hentler. Not that you care. I believe you've got him incarcerated for murder.
00:22:35
Speaker
Kenad's still looking directly at you at this point, Drago. The bad talk sense. What deal have you got with Hentler? Not a deal. We're just releasing him. We were asked to prove his innocence and we have done that. Well, you haven't done that. You've done nothing bad. All you've done is come in and fuck up my work for today. We came in and you threatened us straight away. Why? So we're treating you the same way.
00:23:04
Speaker
Now if you listen to what we've got to say, we might have information that helps you out. We're here for what's right and wrong. So set your ego aside and listen to us. Yeah, I brought you a present and I've thrown the head over to the guy with the bow. It's gonna roll on the floor and make a little splashy splash. So as this head... over the floor...
00:23:34
Speaker
Does it still look like a... Does it still look like a... It still looks like a present, but it's not going to move like a present would normally... Oh, I'm holding on to the chamber pot slash present. I'm just unwrapping it and taking the content out.
00:23:47
Speaker
Well, it doesn't hold up to actual physical inspection, so... Your hands would go through it. Exactly right, so you wouldn't be able to properly unwrap it. If you go to unwrap it, your hands would just go through the bones. Okay, I'm gonna throw this object and then go with two fingers at Folly. Folly, your turn! Folly's going to give a slight look to Claude. Just tap his quarter staff on the ground and then the present is just going to...
00:24:15
Speaker
disassemble in that little shards of light and revealed his head that had been rolled and what we see on the floor is this chamber pot tipped up on its side with a small puddle of piss on the floor and a lot that the head the now slightly stinky uh undead head of eric has with the tongue out to the side

Strategies Against the Undead

00:24:34
Speaker
with a big piercing hole through it latch out onto the floor you it screams from a number of the civilians around as they kind of run out of the room until it's just
00:24:44
Speaker
Kennard and one other left. Oh my god, he's totally ahead. Can I just do something, Mark? Yes, you're Robin. While this is happening, Robin has very silently kept his eyes on Kennard. He has studied his technique as he turned that bow to us. He's looked at the posture of his arm, the gesture of his arrow. I'd like to use know your enemy on him, please. To try and suss this man out. Robin's just very quietly keeping his eye on this.
00:25:14
Speaker
Okay, so I give you superior, even or inferior to your question. Two questions of my choice. So I ask, is his dexterity modifier in relation to mine? I give you the number, you then say superior, higher or lower. Is superior the same or lower? That's right, yeah.
00:25:34
Speaker
Okay, so my dexterity score is 20. The same. Okay, and my AC is 17. So the other thing I'm doing is I'm just checking out the quality of the armor that he's got on. Inferior. Okay, um, Robin has sussed this at this point that this man is pretty quick on the bow.
00:25:53
Speaker
and whilst looking perfectly calm his left hand is down near the point where he grabs his bow from and his right hand is just hanging loose kind of like a cowboy getting ready to go into a quick draw that should this kick off his bow is going to be aimed at him very quickly but it's done with
00:26:14
Speaker
subtlety and a degree of respect because he knows from that dexterity score that he's as good an archer as Robin, if maybe better, maybe worse. This head, thank you, thank you Darren, this head slaps out into the side and the room empties off from this room by the way, there are quite a few entrances and exits off to probably smaller rooms and there's Ken Arden and one other stood there. Have you ever heard of Erichast the Lunatic?
00:26:43
Speaker
no i haven't and before you think of it and he's still got eyes on drago archer you can take your hand off your bow and he puts his bow down on the table robin smiles at that and you just see the slightest gesture of tension even if it's just his fingers loosen up and he smiles and says
00:27:04
Speaker
I'm glad to see we're on the same page. If we could get back on track, I believe Julia was able to see and know for a fact that it wasn't Hentler that murdered the guard at the entrance to the mine. That is why we brought it here.
00:27:20
Speaker
And as you look to see where Julia is, she has actually plonked herself down on a chair on the far side, sat down, arms crossed, legs crossed, not up, but one over the other, sat waiting in a very elegant manner, waiting for this whole dick measuring competition to be over.
00:27:36
Speaker
Oh, good. Kennard, you're making friends as usual. So good to see you again. Thank you so much for checking on me. Thank you so much for making sure, luckily we had to leave it up to some randoms to come in from out of town to check on me. Well...
00:27:52
Speaker
You'd already been gone a day or two. How was I supposed to know? You didn't even tell me where you were going. I said I was going to the mine, and you said, oh, don't do that. There's no point doing that. So I think I made it perfectly clear. And I'm not even here for you. I'm here for Moonrise. I'm here for the good of the realm. And all you did was sit on your dick and do nothing. Well, OK, fine. I fucked up. You know it's a difficult situation with James not being here.
00:28:22
Speaker
Listen, fucking hell. Alan, all of you, grab a chair, come on. And he pulls over a chair. Come on, Jena, sit down as well and gestures over to this woman behind to grab a chair and sit down. He sits down at the table, this long, long table, just to the side of it, not the head of it, just to the side of it, sits down, kind of heading in his hands, rubbing his eyes like he's a bit tired. What do you guys want to do? Robin would go over and grab a chair, but he'd deliberately go to where the pile of black bows are.
00:28:49
Speaker
And as he does that, he's not going to try and take one, but he's going to, as he leans down to pick up the chair, just study them and try and investigate the overall quality of the bow, just to see how proficient and serious this group are as a unit. Okay, role investigation, please. That is a 12.
00:29:14
Speaker
You get a good sense of these bows. They don't look like they've been half-assed. These have been made by a professional. The style of wood is deep, dark in color. You would instantly be able to recognize that very similarly to the way this dagger was described that it killed the hailstorm surge guard in front of the mine. They share a very, very similar color in terms of the wood. Aside from the design and quality, aside from that, it's only a really quick glancing look. That's all you can really discern from it at that point.
00:29:44
Speaker
Drago would take the chair that's directly opposite Kennard and just kind of sit there with eyes not moving from him, boring into him. And that's where Drago is. Claude will walk across the room, pick up the lunatic on the lunatic's head, go and take a seat quite close to Kennard and put Eric Kass's head on my lap and look like a very excited schoolboy in his first day at school.
00:30:16
Speaker
Folly would obviously start making his way down towards the rest of them as well but he would possibly climb on the table first and just start walking down the actual table and just kind of sit at the edge of the table more than anything else. Brilliant. Karstan will sit sort of he'll sit he'll sit halfway and go well isn't this nice
00:30:40
Speaker
met by silence. Julia doesn't sit at the table, she stands for her position and takes a couple of steps forward. Tali is actually endeared to this quite powerful endearing woman and is kind of stood next to her, kind of trying to mimic her emotions and stand like her a little bit. Not too obviously, but most of you do get the sense that there's some kind of, that she looks up to her in some way.
00:31:01
Speaker
Helena's just really curious. She's looking around the room, sussing out what's around, who is standing about, what people are doing, what's in there really. Could you give me a perception check please, Casey? It's an eight. Okay.
00:31:19
Speaker
A lot of the action that's kind of taking place in the room takes precedence. He was a fighter automatically. The first sign of violence, your hands on your flail, you're kind of primed, ready and sane. You didn't really, despite wanting to, you didn't really have enough time to take it all in before it escalated a little too quickly. You get a sense of there is a woman that was with Kennard. Kennard looks tired. His kind of long brown hair is kind of sticking to his face like his eyes are quite red.
00:31:47
Speaker
Aside from that, the room is what you'd expect of a relatively cheap, in your opinion, relatively cheap banquet hall with the table that's quite old and hasn't obviously been used for a banquet for quite some time. There are piles of old paper everywhere, administrative notes, this, that and the other, calls from Goldsew to cease action with the Black Muffranges, the kind of stuff that you would, you know, it's quite normal to see around the kingdom. Cool, thanks.
00:32:12
Speaker
So you sit yourself down and when everyone's kind of settled, Kennard looks up to you all. Well, I might as well ask then. What's with the heads? And he turns to Claude. Well, so you might want to sit down for this.
00:32:32
Speaker
i am sat down yeah i didn't ever understood that expression um but underneath your mind is a portal with about 10 000 to maybe 11 000 undead baddies and they're pretty much under the entire town
00:32:57
Speaker
The man who was responsible for creating the portal and enslaving your dear friend Janet over there
00:33:06
Speaker
Um, she, um, he, the head was the man responsible for all this. His name is Eric Castellunatic. He is a wanted, um, necromancer who the hailstorm surge has been hunting for a while. And we found his body amongst lots of bad things. So we killed him. Um, and that's all we got over to you, Kelbloom.
00:33:38
Speaker
um like i don't really know what to think of you you see i don't understand what you are but i i i hear you you're saying this i spoke up quite clearly i thought no you did she's telling me that in the mines we've got what is it like an infestation
00:34:03
Speaker
Yeah, we need to have quite an urgent meeting right now because any moment hordes of undead nasties will appear out of the mine. Thousands of them. Yeah, so if we could at least maybe skip the other items on the agenda today.
00:34:20
Speaker
You make a good point. What's your name? My name is Claude. Claude, thank you for bringing this information to my table and thank you for putting the head, which from the way I see it has been steeped in piss. Thank you for bringing that too for my table.
00:34:38
Speaker
He looks a bit confused at this point. He again rubs his eyes. My understanding was there was just a small situation down there and I was going to send the Rangers down to sort it out. You're telling me now this is thousands. How do you know it's thousands? As Robin, you take over now. Thank you. We saw the infestation that's brewing underneath your mind and we've all due respect to you and your Rangers who I have every reason to believe are
00:35:08
Speaker
Talented archers and skilled fighters you send your men into that mind. They probably won't be coming back fucking hell and he stands up and starts pacing slightly behind his chair and The woman who sat next to her who up until now has been silent and looks over and
00:35:26
Speaker
And this woman, she's a thin battered human with thick white lacerations and burn marks across her scalp so that her brown hair only grows out of a single side of her face. So she's quite, from one side, it's what like, think of it like,
00:35:43
Speaker
A little bit less, less terrifying, really. Like almost from one, one profile, you wouldn't even be able to tell there's anything wrong with her until she turns her face and you can see that she's had this markings on the other side of her face. And she turns to Kennard and says, I told you that would happen. I told you we needed to do something about this. Fucking hell. But you,
00:36:07
Speaker
I was under the impression it was just a couple of them down there, you know? And now you're... This is big. Shit, this is big. Claude's gonna raise his hand. What? Yeah, you got your hand up. This isn't some fucking university thing. Go and speak. Oh, um, so have you heard of the blight? Of course I've heard of the blight. I know about it. I fought the blight.
00:36:32
Speaker
So we're maybe a few hours away from the next blight being right underneath your wine cellar. So what do we do then? He turns to all of you. What the fuck do we do? Well there's an ongoing theory that if we destroy the mine the portal will be blocked.
00:36:53
Speaker
Well, let's just... Let's go in, let's go in and just knock it down. No, it's not as easy as said as done. There's the whole town to think about. You don't just blow up a mine and think that nothing else around it won't get destroyed as well. Shit. And he again continues to kind of pace and think through things in his head and his pacing picks up slightly. The woman, cool as custard, quite calm, sat at the table still, looks to you all.
00:37:23
Speaker
And the mine, exactly. Whereabouts is it? This gap, this hole, this portal, where would we find it? It's quite far down. We're looking quite deep into the mines. It's deep enough to hit a source of water, which would mean it's quite far into the center of the earth. Right, which means then she starts muttering to herself, which means that eventually the water could put out the fire and it could keep it contained. Okay. I didn't think there was any water down there.
00:37:51
Speaker
There's quite a deep presence of water running at the very bottom. I thought it was the sound of the army that made the sound of the water. Yeah, I thought that too, Drago. It might be that. It might be there is water down there. There's a lot of water that comes in off the mountains. It wouldn't be surprising if it were there. Well, in which case, if there is water down there, why don't we flood it?
00:38:13
Speaker
you need some kind of dam we need to know exactly where a big source of water is but to be honest that's not really my strong point uh also i don't think that they care

Executing the Plan with Humor

00:38:21
Speaker
about water they don't need to breathe nah fire is the way you're out with that my name is jenna by the way you didn't ask so i thought i just announced myself uh stocky by trade stocky by nature uh
00:38:34
Speaker
I'm here to blow up a mine and I've spent the last three days trying to convince Kennard here to let me do it. This might be what I needed. So thank you very much. I'll finally be able to get paid. Well, I just noticed that you'd said that there was a warning that this was going to happen. When did you get that warning? How did you know? I went in the mine.
00:38:54
Speaker
I went down there. I had a little explore around after the gentleman died at the door. I went down and I walked all the way in. And if you walk all the way through and you keep going all the way through, there's just an edge, a cliff, and there you can see. And she goes serious. You can see them just pouring through. I didn't know it was a portal, but I just saw them pouring through.
00:39:21
Speaker
And you decided, well, who decided not to take this seriously? I did take it seriously and cannot turn around at this point. It was me. I thought she was just having me on. Look, it's a fucking job. She's supposed to be here. She blows shit up. That's literally her job. That's all these are for. So, you know, she comes to me and says, I want to blow something up. I just going to assume she's making it up. I didn't realize it was thousands and thousands.
00:39:45
Speaker
Right, well now you're facing this. We're all facing this and now you're needing our help to deal with it. It needs to be closed, that's what it needs. Jana, you're an explosive expert then. I am. Can you destroy the mine without causing any damage to the surrounding area?
00:40:05
Speaker
Well, I think so. I mean, if it's where I thought it was, we're quite deep into the mountains at that point. I'm thinking that's a good five, six, 700 meters away from anything, anything habitable anyway. What do you need to get this done? I need a couple of hands. I've got all the ingredients I need. I just need someone who's a bit skilled, someone useful, someone good with their hands. Two of you actually would do great. Why is this happening?
00:40:30
Speaker
Sorry, while this is happening, I'd like to secretly communicate with Robin. I'm going to use the sending spell and whisper and cover my mouth and say this as quietly as possible. Robin, this person said that they went into the mine, but they didn't encounter any baddies. What if this person conjured a dead
00:40:52
Speaker
You may reply to this message. At the sound of the beep. Robin at this point would have just contemplated what Claude has just said to him. And he will just, as if he's listening to the conversation for the first time where he's been quite stoic, just start to nod as a reply to what Claude has just said to him.
00:41:23
Speaker
We have one of our own who's quite proficient in magic who might be able to help you. Folly, how do you fancy it? I can do what I can. I may be able to offer a hand or two. You're quite kind of blowing things off.
00:41:40
Speaker
Oh, what fantastic! The little norm man will take you on any one other. I'm good with espionage, I'm good with going into places unnoticed, and I'm... Oh, oh don't worry about that. I believe we're all gonna go into the mine, don't you worry. It's a big job, but I just need someone to help me with the ingredients you see, just kind of measuring stuff out, keeping an eye on it, you know, not blowing everything up, you know, the usual stuff. You good for that though Robin? I'll do.
00:42:04
Speaker
We need to find a small enclosed space as to not kill everyone. We need to let Hitler out of jail first. Fuck, I forgot about that and it kind of turns around. You know what? If you're going to be dealing with this, you're going to be fucking making this up. I'll go make sure he's out. I'll take him to his brother. He lives nearby, doesn't he? I would like to accompany you on the freeing of the prisoner, please.
00:42:32
Speaker
Alright, well, I'm literally just gonna go tell him to release him, but alright, come along then. Thank you. Would you like my friend the lunatic to come? What should I do with him? We brought him as evidence, but you seem to already be on our side. Yeah, I kinda believe you're now minus the head, so, uh, I don't know, uh, bring it along if you like, but just, can you make it stop smelling like a piss, or just hold it the other side of you so I haven't gotta smell it all the time? Yeah. Okay.
00:43:00
Speaker
Thanks, I guess. And the two of you kind of walk out and we'll come back to you guys in a second. So first off, Jena is going to, she's going to kind of stood up there and you can see at this point, she's quite tall and she's got a large brown satchel on her side. And she turns to both Robin and Folly and says, so actually have a place already set up. So let's just, do you want to follow me then? And she kind of takes you to one of the doors just off to the right hand side of the hall. Do you guys follow? Yeah, I do.
00:43:29
Speaker
I'll just follow you just to say, lead the way. Is this just me and Folly going, or is it all of us? It's just you and Folly. It's just me and you there, Robin.
00:43:39
Speaker
So they just take basically, you know, again, it needs to sort out making this potion, making this bomb and is asked for some help and has managed to try and get some help through folly and through Robin. So the rest of you are kind of left in the room, Julia and Antaly are also there. Is there anything you guys want to discuss while you're in there? Canards left. You're in this large, empty, now quiet hall for the first time. And we have Drago, Karstan,
00:44:06
Speaker
Julia, Helena and Tally all in the room. I don't do good with waiting. How long do you think this is going to take? I don't know. I don't like the fact that we've just been left here though. Julia, what's your stake in all of this? Why are you here?
00:44:25
Speaker
And she's been looking a little bit concerned, like frowning slightly during this time. To be frank, Drago, my stake in this is simple. I am an emissary. I work for the Moonrise Council and I was sent to Sleepguard to help oversee their fight back against the Blight. I heard of Blackmouth, I heard about their rebellion, and I came here to quell it. I knew of the Rangers, I knew of their prowess in battle, and I thought,
00:44:54
Speaker
they would be a useful force against the undead and ever since then I've been here back and forth between this hailstorm surge and the rangers to try and find an accord and in a funny kind of way this this new blight that we found you know the expression an enemy of my enemy is my friend in a way we've
00:45:19
Speaker
We've kind of found that in the two of them, and hopefully this should bring things together. But if indeed that is the case, I'm going back to Goldview after this. I need to get out of here. Fair enough. And what about you, travellers? What are you? And she looks around at all of you. You never actually said specifically why you were here. Well, I can't speak for Kastan and Helena, but...
00:45:47
Speaker
We're here to find, well, I've already told you, we're here to find Theonics Reaver. Oh, of course. Apologies. A lot's been going on in the last few days. It's understandable. Look, at the end of the day, we just want to close the blight and do our bit to help this world. Helena and Karsten are fairly new to whatever this thing we have is. We met them on our own journey. We were going somewhere else.
00:46:16
Speaker
And where was that? Well, we were following our own business. I'm sorry. I don't wish to discuss. No problem. I understand the need for secrets, especially in a time such as this. We do need to sit down and have a chat about that one day though, Helena. As comfortable as I'm getting with you being in our party, I'm quite uncomfortable with not knowing the reasons as to why. I'm sure I told you.
00:46:40
Speaker
the other day, but if I wasn't clear, I will sit down and speak with you. No, that's okay. I'll listen to episode 29 and catch up. And I'm here to write a really good story. Carsten, I know why you're here. Well, that's fantastic, she turns to you. And
00:46:59
Speaker
Will your story involve me in some way, do you think? Well, of course, you are, you have now, you know, we have now featured in, in half a marriage ring. Hello. Sorry, Will, you said so many sounds. How, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how,
00:47:29
Speaker
Yes, of course you will. Of course you will take part in this story. Of course you will. A little bit anyway, I think. And are you the protagonist of this story? No, no, no, no, I write it. The bard is not the hero in the story. I'm just the person that writes about the heroes.
00:47:48
Speaker
Okay. Well, I look forward to hearing it soon. Will it be done soon, you think? Well, it's a work in progress. I'm not quite sure. I'm sure there will be songs in it. I don't know whether it's going to be a saga or whether I'm going to write it in a book, you see. Ah, you have many choices ahead of you, young bard. I'm sure Goldview will be a place to share your story once it is complete.
00:48:14
Speaker
Oh, um, yeah, I suppose, I suppose Goldview could hear the story. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's more highbrow. It's more sort of sanguine lands kind of story, but I'm sure I could, I could, I could low, I can make it a bit lowbrow for Goldview. Hmm. Okay. So a bard with class. I haven't met many of your kind before. You have to keep searching as well. I'm a rare breed. I'm sure you are. I'm sure you are. And we just, the camera kind of pans unless there's anything else you want to talk about. Is there anything else you wanted to say? No.
00:48:44
Speaker
look cool and the camera kind of pans over and through the through the lock of the door let's say into the small room with Jena Robin and Folly as we find ourselves in now
00:48:57
Speaker
Well, it's probably a relatively small room in comparison to the grand hall you've just been in. And one far end, you've got a long table filling up the whole side and upon that are lots of vials and trinkets and doodads and bits and pieces all around it. There's also a small fire in the corner with a pot of boiling water on over it as well as you walk on in. So how are we with potion making? You short one.
00:49:27
Speaker
I'm not too bad. One never likes to toot one's own horn. I mean, I have blown more things up in the past and most of them it hasn't been me that I've blown up. So I have a half decent success rate. And how about you? Well, let me just say on the potions score, I'm something of a early starter, shall we say. I haven't done too much work with potions, but I'm a
00:50:01
Speaker
Okay, that should be fine. I mean, hopefully we'll have Brigina's luck on our hands, so let's just say that. And for you, little one, it's a good thing that you haven't blown herself up, and she points to herself and the scars she has. I have, and just the ones most stockies only ever blow themselves up once, and I was quite lucky, actually. Now, it's really quite simple. I'll just tell you what to do, and you just do it, and don't fuck it up. And if you don't fuck it up, we all survive, and we don't blow up at the wrong place. Sound good to you.
00:50:21
Speaker
I'm quite depth with my hands and have quite a careful touch.
00:50:31
Speaker
Yes, yes, very much. Fantastic. So basically this is going to run as like a small skill challenge. I've got one, two, three, four, four skills for you two to pass and you go do it together. If any, if you get a 20 or more on one of the skills, what that can do is offset the other character's failure for one as well.
00:50:52
Speaker
Okay, so if I say it's a kind of check and it's 15 and Darren, you roll a 26, but Callum, you roll a three. Darren, your 26 is so good that you've managed to do what you need to do and save Folly from doing it as well. So it's kind of, I'm going to try and reward that top end as well as fail the bottom end. Okay.
00:51:12
Speaker
So she starts getting some things out from her satchel, some weird colored liquids that Folly, probably your eyes are bulging anyway at this point about the process. She starts pulling out some rocks, some small rocks and sniffing them and putting them in pots and moving things around. She said, right, I just need you to set some things up. And she points over to the far side and says, all those, the red, the red vial is the liquid. Can you bring them all over here, please? And so that's your first skill is just to
00:51:40
Speaker
Carefully pass these over to her. So it's a slight of hand Check, please 22. Okay, and folly 13 Okay, lovely. Well, the pass was only a 10 anyway, so you both managed to quite easily pick up these Vials and pass them over which he quickly takes off you and click pause them into this larger pot. I
00:52:02
Speaker
And she takes two that are left right at the end, these two last ones, and what she does is she leaves them with her corks in and places them in the boiling water. So the liquid's all red and these two red vials are now in the boiling water as well. I've got to just grab some other, now that's working on that, I'll just be back in two seconds. Right, all I want you to do is if you see it start to boil,
00:52:24
Speaker
pull it out and then put it back in when it doesn't boil anymore. Okay. So just bring, keep it on that cusp of kind of you're almost boiling, but you're not quite boiling. Okay. Understand. Okay. Right back into two seconds. He turns around and starts thumbing through a book really, really, really, really, really quickly. So could you both make straight intelligence checks, please, to see if you can get this timing right for the bubbling liquid. Is that just a normal D 20?
00:52:51
Speaker
That's a D20 plus your intelligence modifier. So as we're doing that, I would just lean in and say to Folly, how confident are you with this? And in your fairness, actually, can I just ask, do I recognise a lot of the ingredients this person's using?
00:53:08
Speaker
You recognize the odd ingredient, but a lot of the ingredients of stock magic potion making are very much interchangeable. So you recognize certain smells and the looks of some of them. However, it's so kind of
00:53:25
Speaker
haphazard and pyretic in a way as much as they just steal from each other and it's all kind of everything's blended and amalgamated and made up. There's no kind of set design for anything or color for anything so you don't quite get a full sense of it and but you what you do get the sense of is that she is well trained almost in the stock magic that she
00:53:46
Speaker
She spent a long time doing at the speed which is moving the way in which is handling these dangerous materials you know that she's either mental absolutely insane or It has a death wish or she's incredibly skilled in what she does Right. Okay with that little analysis. I'm just gonna lean back to Robin slightly and Well in all actuality there Robin
00:54:14
Speaker
certainly seems to know what she's doing but well how can we if not an it is an exact art but you can take certain liberties with certain things from my experience i believe what we're doing is okay not how i would have done it but i'm not giving a question somebody who seems to have more experience than i do i mean
00:54:36
Speaker
I make things explode accidentally, not on purpose. I was going to say, you nearly blew your own eyebrows off at the weekend. Yes, yes. I'm very well aware of that. Not the best first impression that one can make. But we seem to be on the right track, but just be on your guard. I'll be on mine. Good. Good. OK, good. Could you both make intelligence checks, please, with your modifiers?
00:55:06
Speaker
And I rolled a 13. So what was yours, Robin, sorry? 16. 16 and following? 13, again. OK. No problem. Thank you very much.
00:55:20
Speaker
She comes back over and instantly sees what Robin's doing. Ah, that looks right. That's exactly where he wanted to be. Oh, for fuck's sake. And she moves over towards where Folly is. I thought you were a man of the Arcana. I thought you knew how to do this. And she puts it back in. No, it's not bubbling hard enough. The thing's going to take longer. And we're going to work off different times now. Robin's going to go on one. Folly's going to go on the other. This makes things much more complicated, for fuck's sake. And she kind of walks off quickly. Right.
00:55:46
Speaker
It's fine, it's fine. And she turns around and grabs a whole handful of these rocks that she was sniffing earlier, and kind of tentatively, bloop, bloop, bloop, throws these in. The last one, bloop, bloop. And this small blue puff of smoke comes out of it. Oh, right. Now, this has changed the constituents of the liquid, I think. Just now, I need you just to hold this vial in your hands, both of you.
00:56:10
Speaker
and the smallest red bubbles should start to appear okay i need you to look for them and you need to tell me when you see them okay really concentrate there there there it's it's almost like it's not effervescent it's it's it's something else is something magical okay uh just keep doing that i'll i'll get the container ready and she moves back over so i need you to make an arcana check please
00:56:31
Speaker
As that's happening, Robin will just say to her, I can't help but notice you don't have any apprentices, as I don't suppose you ever had any or may perhaps met a rather explosive end. She's thumbing through a book. You hit the nail on the head there, Robin. I did have an apprentice once. She blew herself up and carries on thumbing through like it was just telling you the weather. Shouldn't let Drago do this. You're here now, Robin. Dive straight in and you'll be fine. Have faith in the teacher.
00:57:01
Speaker
Oh my god, this is like a Harry Potter lesson. It's Leviosa, not Leviosa. It is the potion making class. Your shame is Finnegan! As Robin is doing Arcana, he just recites some lessons from Talia about it's all in concentration, just feel the magic and allow the... And Robin rolled a natural 20. Ooh, lovely. And Folly, what did you roll?
00:57:32
Speaker
um 25
00:57:35
Speaker
fantastic so the pair of you instantly kind of zone into this and you realize quite quickly that it isn't something you are seeing it is something you are feeling and what you realize is that these these tiny red bubbles aren't actually in the vial they're in your eyes as you start to just the smell or the the the gas that's coming off it seems to affect you in some way and you manage to signal to
00:58:02
Speaker
Yeah, at the right time that these bubbles have started to appear. Ah, fucking brilliant. Thank you. And she kind of comes over to you quickly. Brilliant. Really simple now. These vials have started to just vibrate ever so slightly with energy. And you can feel it pulsing with this vibrating energy, almost electric wanting to escape. She's pulled over a larger vial.
00:58:23
Speaker
And it seems to be spiked at the far end, the butt end of it. And she's holding it there and she says, right now, carefully pour that in to this vial. Pour it in nice and slowly. Robin, let's start with you then. It's just going to be an athletics check, please, Robin. Oh, God. 12.
00:58:42
Speaker
Okay, so you start to pour this liquid in. The majority of it goes in. Just as you think you've finished off on it, your arm catches the back of your bow and you pour the last couple of drops onto your left hand, okay? This liquid instantly hits your hand and this large crack noise breaks out
00:59:05
Speaker
And your hand seems to actually get pushed back. Like someone, like something's just pushed it away from you. And you take 16 points of force damage. Ow. First of all, ow. Jesus. I told you put it in the vial. Don't put it on your hand. That's quite a lot there. You should have taken your stuff off before you came in here. Mind and I suggest that the next time you ask the volunteers, you tell them that you have a habit of blowing them up.
00:59:33
Speaker
Well, I thought my face would give that away. Thank you very much, Bowman. How about you take your bow off next time? And she turns to Folly. Now, Folly, you've got yours. You've just seen what's happened to Robin. And would you like to make an athletics check, please? No. Nobody always seems to use it. So on this one, I'm going to use my inspiration as well. Yeah, give it. Just to make sure, which is, what, an additional D6? Six, yep. I got 14.
01:00:03
Speaker
Okay, so you manage to, she brings over the vial to you, just see what's happened to Robin and despite your height, she doesn't lower it much actually, she just turns it to your general direction, still looking at Robin's hand rather worryingly. You manage to lift the vial literally above your head and pour it into this large long tube and just as you feel and its weight is massive and you feel it vibrating and your shoulders are shaking and you feel like they're about to give out just as the last couple of drops

go in and the vial is empty. She quickly then turns around and grabs another large piece of glass which she hammers onto the top of it and then starts to chance something quietly under her breath. And you can see a white line start to form around the edge of this vial as she seals it in. And she then stands up and moves the liquid from one of this red liquid from one end to the other. We did it lads. We did it. How's your hand Robin?
01:00:58
Speaker
Robin is going to just be shaking his hand like when you've got pins and needles and he's going to use second wind to regain 13 of those hit points. Not bad. Robin is just going to shake the hand together. It will survive. My life suggests in future that you perhaps ask for
01:01:26
Speaker
your apprentices to use any particular spells they might have to safeguard themselves against such things. Well, firstly, you're not my apprentice. Secondly, you guys volunteered. And thirdly, we're saving the place. It's all for good.
01:01:41
Speaker
I'm much aware of the fact that I volunteered. It's something I'm currently deeply regretting.
01:02:00
Speaker
green and blue rocks all spaced around it, which is very very gingerly, places this glass vial within it and then places a couple of the rocks on the top of it, closes the chest and then locks it shut and picks it up, turning to you, very happy and says, right, I let you guys know this, don't let the others know that
01:02:26
Speaker
It's activated when the vial cracks, Robin. I think you can tell from your hand. It does a bit of damage. Now you said it was down, like down a hole. Is that right?
01:02:39
Speaker
Yes, yes. Right, okay. So lobbing it down the hole should do the trick. Once it cracks, we've got a good minute or two to get out. Oh boy, a good minute. It could be more, it could be less. I have not really done it on this scale before. I don't tell the others. Surely go back then. Can I just give you a word of warning about secrecy within our fine fellowship? We
01:03:04
Speaker
We don't keep those types of things from each other. If you're asking me and my friends to go into a situation with a volatile explosive, I feel as if they have the same right to know the information that you've just told us. Hi, you can tell them if you like. I mean, they knew we were going to blow up the mine. I assume they knew we were going to take something deadly in there. So why did you want to keep it a secret?
01:03:29
Speaker
Well, it's just I'm not, I hadn't actually made it this big before. So if anyone, I should have told you beforehand that this was, you know, rather deadly and she starts giggling. That's apparent. You should have told us. But we survived and we all learned a valuable lesson out of it, I think. Don't you agree? Oh, I'm feeling mightily enlightened.
01:03:50
Speaker
Fantastic. I think you're being sarcastic, but I'm gonna ignore it and gonna pretend you're giving me a compliment. Thank you, Robin. Thank you, Folly. Robin, I hope your hand gets better soon. Shall we go back to the other place? Yes, yes. Let's get a move on. As she walks off, I would just say to Folly... Folly, you understand stock magic, don't you?
01:04:18
Speaker
What one can understand, yes. Keep an eye on that chest. You understand it better than any others and frankly I don't trust her. And she starts walking out holding the chest quite gingerly in front of her and she kind of knees the door open a little bit and as the door starts to open she one side slips slightly. I will just send my mage hand out just to guide the door open.
01:04:44
Speaker
much obliged Robin I told you would be fine friends by the end of this and look now your now your magic hands lifting the door for me thank you and she walks out I would turn to Robin and I would certainly advise keeping a close eye on her perhaps you'd better catch up make sure she doesn't drop that I prefer your hands over hers oh okay fair enough
01:05:09
Speaker
That noise, I think, just summarises your whole feeling towards this Robin. As she's gone, Folly's gonna have a quick look around the room that they were just in. Do you know the books that she was looking through? I'm assuming she's not actually put those in the crate and talking with her. No, no, they're all still there. You little wanker! Sorry? I'm taking the books.
01:05:35
Speaker
Okay, yeah, there's quite a few there. There's a number of brown tomes. There's a few black books there, a couple with scorched front covers to it, black scorch marks all across them. There's probably about eight different books that you could pick up that aren't on shelves too high for you to reach that would probably be worth taking. He's gonna be more interested in the ones that she's been using. Obviously the potions that they've been making, they've got some serious power to them. So the ones that she's been using while
01:06:04
Speaker
We've been doing this thing. Gotcha. So the ones that are on the table nearby that she was kind of flipping through whilst this was going on. Yeah, they're the ones that he's going to be most interested in. So he'll make sure that he takes them and then what he is going to do, using Mage Hand, take a couple of books

Conclusion and Future Plans

01:06:25
Speaker
off the shelf and then put them back on the table just to kind of replace them so trying to do a color match thing with them all even same position just a quick glance you might not even think about it
01:06:36
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. I'm not gonna make you roll for that because they both left the room. There's no one there. Yeah, absolutely. Not a problem. That is done. So those books have gone into your rucksack, into your backpack on the back. And you guys kind of enter back into the main room. We'll just fly over quickly to where Claude and Kennard have got to. So Claude, you've just walked out with Kennard. He's got his bow back on his back now. And he's walking quite quickly across the mudded path out towards the main part of Blackmouth again. Is there anything you want to talk to him about whilst you are walking over?
01:07:04
Speaker
Yeah, I'll just sort of in and out of whistling and remarking at the lovely architecture. I would be saying, so thank you for helping getting this poor man out of a wrongful imprisonment. It's fine. I just want to get to the bottom of this. I want to get back to normal. I like the way things were before and this complicates matters to say the least.
01:07:30
Speaker
I just wish Jameth was here to sort it out, but who's most? Where is he then? I don't know. I don't know. So what time's the evacuation? The what? Well, the evacuation. Is that the right word? I think it's the right word. You want to clear the city? Well...
01:07:51
Speaker
Right. There's been a few people that haven't quite put two and four together to make nine, but I have. And what happens if you blow all the foundations up underneath a thing, everything that's on the top falls in its place. So if we're going to blow up the mine that's underneath the town, the town's going to fall into the pit and die too. That's a good point you make there, but the mine isn't below.
01:08:19
Speaker
the town, the mines are in the mountains and he gestures behind him pointing to the large peaks of the skeletal mountains behind you. Yeah, but like earthquakes and landslides and dragons. No, I don't know about the dragons, fucking hell, but the others I can agree with.
01:08:39
Speaker
You make a good point, Claude, and I thank you for your counsel, your wise counsel there, Claude. What we'll do is, I'll send word, we'll do it in a moment to clear the upper ward in Copper Rock, the two areas closest to the mountains, and get them all in the storm market, away from it. That should give us more than enough room. Are you sure? Because you'd really hate to have the death of loads of people on your hands, wouldn't you? Aye, I would. But I can't be that person that let the blight start a second front in Sleepguard.
01:09:09
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, we should just get everyone safe. I'll send word. And as you continue walking, you quickly note a small building off to the right with a guard in all black and a bow on his shoulder outside of it. Ah, we still got him in there.
01:09:28
Speaker
Yes, Captain, he's still there. All right, open up the door. And the guard looks a little confused, but opens, gets a key out, unlocks the door. And as you walk into this room, you see a man, and he's sat at it, just at a table and a bed. It seems like a normal house. He seems to be under some kind of house arrest. And this Hentler chap looks at, at, cannot for a second, confused, but then looks at Claude and realizes and puts two and two together. Yeah, yeah. Am I clear? Yeah. Open the door, please. I want to hug him.
01:09:56
Speaker
oh there's no door in the way the door's already open and i'm just gonna hug him scoop him up and i'm gonna just carefully move to the back of the place and no one can hear me whispering his ear get out of town get your brother and go to the camp where the hailstorm agents are they're gonna blow up the mine go fast you're free oh it's so good to see you oh great to see you thank you so much i don't know uh why have you got a head and a
01:10:24
Speaker
I'll explain it all in another time. Just get out of here. I mean, go be free. Oh, my brother will be so pleased to see me. Thank you. Yeah. Go be free. Go be free and run into the lookout for the hailstorms. Go be free.
01:10:40
Speaker
he's getting really excited at this point and he's kind of jumping around he looks quite well off actually much better off than he was in the hailstorm camp and he kind of yes oh brilliant thank you and he just kind of tries to ruffle your hair tries to ruffle Ken Arte bat his hand away and kind of whoopee and kind of jumps out the door and starts running down the street towards the um towards uh his brother and the tavern and as you both step out to the doorway to kind of see him running off into the distance
01:11:07
Speaker
happy as Larry, you can see him high fiving that small kid that you met in an earlier episode. As he walks past, as he runs past, the kid looks very confused and the sun continues to rise high in the sky as the situation seems to unfold. That's what we're going to leave this episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. I think that's my favorite episode ending out of all of it.
01:11:31
Speaker
That's such a positive ending. It was, isn't it? We don't normally get that. Of course, I wanted to question him about the Onyx Reaver, but I guess that will have to wait now, but, you know. Yeah. It's about that Claude just filled him right up on it, though. So good. That was brilliant.
01:11:49
Speaker
That's some good work, all right, guys. Oh, it's me, isn't it? Thank you very much, everyone. I was just enjoying that visual of Claude, just kind of the big talk. It's almost like the episode of Friends when Ross goes to buy the flat and everyone's jumping all together. That's how I imagined. That's how I saw that going.
