That little buzzer thing, is he gonna stick it in alpha? Is that why we're turning around? Raids has been known to stick his thing in alpha on occasion.
00:00:42
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play 5e D&D podcast set in the magical homebrewed world of Aerith. My name is Mark and I'm the Dungeon Master and welcome to Bellum Drachonis.
00:00:53
Speaker
Also with us today's episode, we've got Ian who plays the Tiefling Warlock, Nyx Karel. You sounded so surprised that you had people with you there. Yeah, I have, but I was on my own. You sounded unsure. Also, people here. Oh, you're all here still in my room. Ian, hi. Hi. We've got Callum who plays the Warforged Artificer, Alpha. Hello, adventurers. Darren, who plays the High Elf Artificer, Reigns Haddow.
00:01:18
Speaker
Howdy Table Toppers! We've got Danny who plays the half-orc monk Morota Broken Desk. Bonjour! And we have Will who plays the human cleric Emron.
00:01:28

Hey up, lad.

Recap and Sewer Journey Begins

00:01:48
Speaker
And then we were left after Nick's advantage to skidaddle around and steal all the gold from their chest and was giving out a very short supply to his friends and confidants. And we had one incapacitated chap left alive that was picked up unceremoniously by our best friend in the world ever, Morota, and plopped into a chest. And there was a bit of a moral dilemma that took place there between some of the party. Finally, everyone kind of capitulated and went, whatever, I'm just going to the pub.
00:02:17
Speaker
and left Alpha and Morota to do what they wanted to do. Alpha then left and Morota made her choice. If you haven't listened to that, go back and listen to it at the end of episode three to find out what she did. You enter out of this thin narrow passageway, cuts of sharp rock face.
00:02:36
Speaker
back into the sewer system of Goldview. The rush of water flowing continues to flow around you as you see that from where you come out, if you were to kind of U-turn to your left, that is one way that the sewer continues. Directly to your left is where the sewer actually continues and it ends up being more like a kind of a paved area where the water doesn't seem to flow nearby and you can smell smoke and you can see down this corridor, light.
00:03:03
Speaker
Reigns and Nyx, you were at the front with Emron following behind, followed by Alpha, and then a few steps behind that, or actually a minute or so behind that would have been morota, given your conversation with the guy in the chest. Nyx, Emron, and Reigns at the front, as you continue to walk down this passage towards the light, you can see just off on the distance, you can see
00:03:26
Speaker
what looks like steps leading up and a little bit of sunlight coming through. In front of it though, and we're talking about 60 or 70 feet in the distance down this line, you can also see a large kind of iron grate covering it.

Magic Detection and Fire Trap Incident

00:03:40
Speaker
As you start to walk closer though, you notice something strange to your left. You notice that one of the portcullises that naturally fill this sewer system, someone has erected an iron door. What do you want to do?
00:03:53
Speaker
So you mean to tell me that you guys are putting on a play on this mad fan bowl of yours? Yeah, yeah, that's exactly right. It's, uh, it's, um, motherfucking cold. The, uh, if I use that memory bank of yours, I've not heard this. Everyone dies. A true undergoblin story. There you go. Pulled out. Um, for these guys are putting on a play. That sounds fucking amazing. Comedy or tragedy?
00:04:24
Speaker
It's a tragedy and a comedy. Oh, I've seen a few plays. It might be a bit of an evening. I would very much like to watch the festivities. I tell you what, we all get through this. Tickets are on me. Come and see the play. You won't be disappointed. It is rather... What is that over there? What about clicking? I don't know.
00:04:51
Speaker
I think that was carrying role play. I was trying to cut the conversation towards what the DM hid. That was what we called role play there. That was straight up role play. Everyone will look and go, some kind of doer. I really want to be sarcastic right now, but Alpha wouldn't be.
00:05:22
Speaker
You're from, you're from these parts? No. Me? And everyone's looking at Nyx. No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm from far, far, far, far away. I've already, I mean, I've been to the ports here, absolutely. I'm on my ship, the Esmeralda, but as opposed to just kind of walking, especially through the sewer system, one does not know these parts too well. And after what we've just been through, I don't know if going through, ah, but then,
00:05:49
Speaker
Well, I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why. It does trigger natural curiosity. It does. It certainly does. Yes, it does. I have a solution right here. I'm going to take out the potato peter. I'm going to point out. Let's find out that this thing is magical. You don't need to shoot the door. I'm not going to shoot. It's a potato peter. Chill. That makes no sense. Well, you're going to peel the door. It's a magic thing. I can detect magic from my potato peter, honestly. Just step back. But don't step back. Nothing bad can happen.
00:06:19
Speaker
I'm going to point the potato peeler at the door and it will start to whirl just on the front like it's got a little propeller and will start to spin. Oh, it's a sex toy. I'll cast Detect Magic on what kind of sex toys do you have to have fast whirling propellers? Jesus. These kind. Yeah. But anyway, it starts to... What's the opposite character? It starts to spin. OK, what kind of sex toys do you have that spin around in this kind of... My friend, I have very many toys like this.
00:06:49
Speaker
That is deeply disturbing. And I'm going to cast Detect Magic on the door. Morota, you've just walked up and heard Nick say, I have many, many toys, and that is deeply disturbing, as Detect Magic is cast against the door. Do you need a role for that, or do I just tell you? I cast it as a ritual. I think you tell me. I mean, hold on. I can cast it as a role for me. It takes 10 minutes. It'll take 10 minutes. A ritual. We're stuck there. You're standing there for 10 minutes.
00:07:13
Speaker
What are you doing? I'm curious. I'm curious. I want to know what's in there. For 10 spin. With one action. So it's 10 times one action. So it's going to take... One minute.
00:07:22
Speaker
One minute. Yes, what action is six seconds? I'm going to say this is kind of anti-climactic, everybody trying, no one. You're pointing your sex toy at the door and it's not doing anything. Last time I did this, I had to find a slice of him. I'll tell you what, don't worry about it. A nix will just casually stroll over to the door and open it while looking at Reigns and see what happens. It is 10 minutes. Just specify it takes 10 minutes longer to cast a normal.
00:07:49
Speaker
to specify. Okay, I will then, I will cheer up a spell slot and cast it in action, which will take six seconds. Okay. You get no detection of any magic. Sorry. No, no magic on the door. You're right. You can deal with it. As Nick starts to open the door, Nick's firstly, your hand reaches for the handle and you take two points of fire damage. The handle is burning hot. You do already, but as you do that, you are pushing the door open as it goes. Your hand is, yes.
00:08:19
Speaker
And as the door opens, flames just adorn this space. It looks like the inside of hell almost. This room, you can assume is a room. You can kind of make out burning bookcases, burning tables. There's a room beyond it. That's on fire. Everything's on fire, basically. This room is in fire. And as you open the door, you let a rush of oxygen air in and the flames come up a bit higher. Can you make a dexterity saving throw? And can the rains make a dexterity saving throw as well, please?
00:08:48
Speaker
Yeah, so as I put my hand on the door and got burned, you'd... Oh shit! But I take one point because I've got fire resistance. Apologies. No, not apologies. It's all good. And yeah, you wanted a dexterity saving throw. Yes, please. From yourself and Alpha. 13. Me?
00:09:09
Speaker
I was 16. You asked me for it. I'm 16. Yes, absolutely. You both passed. The DC was 11 for that. Absolutely. You managed to back off just the way the damage in your hand, Nick, actually causes you to recall moving you away anyway, ducking around the area as some flames lick out harmlessly. But the roar of fire is deafening and echoes down the corridor. Emron, what would you be doing in this situation?

Dragon Attack and City Aftermath

00:09:30
Speaker
I just could also point out to Darren, because he's casted tech magic, Enron will give off a faint glow that's only visible to to to Reigns, that his changed shirt is indeed emanating magic at this moment. Just for the first of the spell. Yeah, nice. No, he could have been confused with the light elsewhere. But yes, there, you would have gotten a slight kind of a little bit of knowledge there. Well, no, I wouldn't. Oh, it's not rain rain rain to detect magic, because it's within 30 feet. Just sorry.
00:10:00
Speaker
Just for his point of view. My name calling is still a little fuzzy. I'm still getting used to all your new names, guys. Apologies. Yeah. Yeah, go ahead. Everyone will leap forward to try and shut the door. Yeah, absolutely. Were you reaching out and grabbing the handle? Because it swung in. Who touched the handle? Oh, it swung in. It's really hot. I'm going to try and use my hammer to hook it if it's reachable. Yes, good idea.
00:10:30
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. It's hammer time. Get it? You manage to hook the handle in and the heat is sweltering on you. It's oppressive. And you manage to pull the handle in slightly. You get it until it's about two or three inches close to being shut. And then you manage to wiggle out your hammer. But to fully, fully shut it, you're going to need to pull something. You can't really get your hammer around it.
00:10:52
Speaker
I'm a man who's used to handling hot metal, so he's just going to grin and bear it and just pull the shot. With your blacksmithing background as well, I'm going to halve the fire damage of this because of that very reason. It doesn't mean you're resistant to fire damage, but just because I'm going to say, your houses are brittle.
00:11:09
Speaker
It was going to be a four, it's going to be two instead. It was a D4 I rolled for it. So two points of flight damage. It's kind of like watching you open mouth as soon as you grab it. Like he was going, yeah, good hammer skills before. And then you'd just full on grab the door handle. He's like, holy shit. Yeah. And I imagine it's just a little twitch of the eye, but nothing else. No reaction. Calloused hands. You're just like, oh, it's a wee bit wham that. Yeah. Yeah. Just a little bit. It's not, it's not that bad.
00:11:36
Speaker
as Nyx turns away, blowing on his hand. It's fine. I didn't get much of a look, but that was just a room full of fire. Did anyone else see that? Well, your sex toy told you nothing about the fire in there, Rain, so I don't know why you're pointing that thing out. Well, my sex toy, and it's not a sex toy, by the way. It's not that on the head. It's a potato peeler. But anyway, it told me that there is something in the air, but I don't know what. I guess it's not working properly. Stupid thing. Maybe if it's a cellar to a building upstairs,
00:12:06
Speaker
it's due to dragon just you know if we're in sewers it could be a seller could be on fire due to dragon but at least we know now curiosity's been satisfied yes we don't have to go that way next you've also noticed just as a slightly small spider just crawling up on your on your on your shoulder as well hello friend
00:12:28
Speaker
Well, just coming for the ride, huh? That's fine. Understandable. Mr. Sewers, I'd want to get out of here too. So you can now feel, and you can now hear it quite audibly, the burning, the crackle of the fire. And you can also feel it slightly through the door into the corridor. You realize why this area got slightly warmer. You didn't notice it before. But now you know the reason why. There's fire behind that door. Oh, it's almost as warm as being back home. The sun?
00:12:59
Speaker
No, from Shadow Men, it's a bit of a warmer climate than here. Ah, of course, Shadow Men. Very good. Shall we keep plodding on? Please. Oh, hello, Marota. Didn't see you suddenly arrive. No, I don't imagine you turned around, given the fact you decided you wanted to just burn yourself alive. Well, I was trying to shut the door to stop fire from spreading. Why was door open?
00:13:27
Speaker
I've looked at your friend over there and he's gonna look to Nick's Yeah, that's my bad Marotta, you know me the curiosity type Yeah
00:13:39
Speaker
Let's set about that the better. Anyone got any good idea where we should go? I was on the floor in the water. Okay, sounds good to me. If we review Noah Tavern, we stepped off the docks. What would a hag bastard say? Clay Peak Hall, I don't know if you know the place she said that. Clay Peak Hall was where a hag bastard said to go.
00:14:00
Speaker
It's alright in there to be fair. I mean, I was in the middle of a shift there before this happened, so I probably should get back. Hopefully it's still standing. It would be great to see if it's still standing. If not, there's another place I know half of in. It's not that bad.
00:14:20
Speaker
Or perhaps there's... Nix has got a board. He says his board as a captain here. No, no, no, no. We don't need to go to the boat any time soon. Anyway, it's much more hospitable sometimes going to an actual tavern for beer. Trust me, you don't want to go to a ship to have a drink of ale. If that's stuff... Well, they'll be rehearsing, right? These people are going to be rehearsing. They're going to be busy. Absolutely. It's going to be too busy for us. Let's just go to Clay Peacool. I think that's a good idea.
00:14:49
Speaker
I have never been to a tavern. This is rather exciting. Alpha? Oh yeah, I suppose. Never really took a walk. I thought we were. It helps move plot forward.
00:15:04
Speaker
A bat flies overhead, met a bat. Alfred, just before you go, I've got something on the infusion, so I'd like to talk with you privately about if that's okay. Of course. Please, just let me know. Fine, we're just walking ahead. Thank you for your time today, gentlemen. If you're going to stay and talk about peelers, we're good to go. It's a sex toy. I hope to see you speak. I'm with Marotta. Everyone's going to be sort of looking at Nick's water and said,
00:15:32
Speaker
Um, Reigns, is there not a better place to do this? It'll be two seconds, it'll be two seconds, it'll be right behind you, I promise. Okay, well don't go in that door, uh, the last time you did it hurt a wee bit, so, you know... Stay away from the door, you're good, I'll stay away from the door. I'll go get drinks and then, and, uh... Please do, Emerald. And then I'll follow Nixon, right? Are they gonna know where to go? Well,
00:15:59
Speaker
I mean, he's he's two seconds. We'll be two seconds. Honestly, we're not going to be we're not going to be long. We won't even lose you. He likes to have chats with the alpha like this. I don't care. I don't care. I'm over you three right now. I hate you hear that? She's over us. So you just go off then and we'll catch you up with you. OK, I think he's taking the piss. I was a fabulous accent. I'm not taking the piss at all. I believe you talking about sex toys, though. That that might be.
00:16:29
Speaker
Well, that might be. Anyway... Hey, that's my voice, I like you. This is fun. This is fun. Honestly, we're gonna be two seconds. I'm just gonna walk. She does this. It's okay. Everyone, come on. By the way, that little buzzer thing, is he gonna stick it in alpha?
00:16:53
Speaker
Is that why we're turning around? Raids has been known to stick his thing in alpha on occasion. He looks like that type. We're walking talk, we're walking talk alpha. Please take it back to me. I do not like this conversation at all. It's merely for diagnostics.
00:17:20
Speaker
And as you make your way down this growingly long and awkward sewer exit towards the exit, you do come across, you do see a series of stairs leading up to a set of closed wooden doors that sit almost like, you know in pubs when they have the doors to the cellar and they're kind of flat against the ground, it looks like that, you're on the underside, you can see light beaming in from the outside, that's one of smoke still clearly in your nostrils. However, in front of you is a solid, not solid, but a kind of an iron gate.
00:17:48
Speaker
of solid bits of iron, relatively thin, about a quarter of an inch in thickness, coming down, covering the entire entrance. This is to stop people getting in or out. There is no gate element to it. There's no hinge. It's just solid. There's kind of like bars, thin bars of iron across the front of it.
00:18:08
Speaker
I'm going to hold out the potato pit and go, no, I don't have anything diagnostic. But I had a quite conservative upbringing, Alfred. And when I modified this to do spells for me, I didn't mean it to look like anything cruel. What you got in that memory bank, does that look like a sex toy? I mean, I don't know what you did in those long nights and the sister hold ice in, but you went through a lot of books. And I just want to know, have I made one of my transmuters
00:18:49
Speaker
According to my record of the books that I read, sex toys was not a commonly discussed term. There was multiple counts of intimacy between certain characters. The toys were not involved. Yeah, there's a lot of stuff documenting like my family and the things about the parents. I don't want to know like the intricacies of when I was conceived or anything like that. I just, I'm not going to use the potato peter anymore. I'm going to use the, I don't know. Would you like me to consider a redesign?
00:18:54
Speaker
looked like something fallible.
00:19:17
Speaker
I tell you what, Luke, I got a spoon here, but that's probably not much better, but I'll find something. I'll find something. I believe spoons can also be related to intimacy. What kind of books have you been reading? Whatever is in the library. I just see flashbacks of Emrod opening, of the Emrod Alpha opening books. Hello, darkness, my old friend. As he spoons through.
00:19:43
Speaker
And as we do that, I'm just going through, I'm going through my cook utensils, I'm going through my artisans tools just to see if I've got anything in there that just doesn't look like a sex toy. And I definitely can't use the fork. He's got a, sorry, just returning to the image of Alfie, he's got a book in one hand and a can of WD-40 in the other. Looking around with a ratty little, you know, polishing rag off to the side as well. Looking around his dusty part.
00:20:12
Speaker
Fifty Shades of Grey, an Elvin novel. Sorry. Oh, God, Rains, you're looking through to find another... I got a cookie cutter, but it's the shape of a starfish, and I don't know what that thread to think was going to say if he sees that. I'll find something. I'll find something that doesn't look quite so ridiculous. I will consider further options as well.
00:20:38
Speaker
Good, good. And then you guys wandering a few steps behind, but you manage to catch it with the rest as you approach this great, and you see the three other characters looking at it as well. So, Nix, Emron, Marota. Obstacle, what do you want to do about it? Emron's going to look to Marota and be like, reckon we could see if these bars are weak? What do you reckon? Be my guest.
00:21:06
Speaker
Well, I thought you'd give it an giving to your quiet good with your fists. Okay. And I'll go and see if I can push them and I'll pull them help. We'll try and put out and was like, we try and pull these bars apart here. Are there any that look particularly weak using my metalworking background? Oh, nice. Give me a perception check with advantage. Thank you for reminding me about your metalworking background. That is a nice addition.
00:21:37
Speaker
16 on perception. You notice in the very centre of the bars, just to the right, that there's a little bit of rust on those that aren't on some of the others. The same in thickness, but you can assume from that and deduce from that that the rust means it's given thickness but ruined the stability of, not ruined, but weakened the stability of those certain bars.
00:22:00
Speaker
I reckon this barrier and this barrier, if we both try and pull them apart or both go on the same one, we can try and shift them. I'll take your lead, metal man. And Ronald, try and grab hold of it and start to lean his hammer against the wall and starts to bend his knees, squat down and to reach on three.
00:22:27
Speaker
And just to roll for the check for this, we're going to roll the aiding checks thing that we've developed this campaign as well. So, Marota, as you are aiding the strength check, just a reminder that the role, you're going to give me an athletics check and that role can either help or hinder the role that Enron is going to make. So it can be anything from a minus three to his check or a plus three to his check if you do quite well. So would you like to give me just your athletic check to be aiding Enron's strength role?
00:22:57
Speaker
19 19 that's a plus 3 it's going to add on. That's the highest you can get nice one. Thank you very much everyone Please make your vertex check and then add 3 to it Cheers me days. Oh for fudge sake. That's a nine them so much
00:23:15
Speaker
That's a nine. Okay. So, um, Marotta, you managed to get your hands to the right, are you pulling or punching or what are you doing to aid this? Is it a vertical bar that's the rusty or a horizontal bar? They are vertical bars. Apologies for making that clear. Yeah, vertical bars. Marotta will sort of climb the grate itself and sort of pull outwards. So like two feet against and just all of her weight pulling outwards.
00:23:38
Speaker
Nice, and as you're doing that, Emron, you try and get your hammer into a good position, get some purchase and start to pull. As you start to pull, your hands lose grip. The injuries you sustained in the combat just now still pain you slightly. And as you try and move your body around to stop the pain from hurting and continue to pull, you lose grip on the bar and you kind of fall back onto your bum, boom, go down for a second as Marotta still kind of perched on the bars looking back at you.
00:24:05
Speaker
Come on. Get out. I'm, I'm getting there. And I'm going to wipe my own blood off hands and uh, I'll give it another go. Okay. Give it another go. Use the plus three again. Sorry. Before Marota poos herself. The growing under the pressure of she's holding them in a position. If you manage to pull the other ones free, it will create a big enough space for each of the 20 unnatural now.
00:24:28
Speaker
OK, yeah, absolutely. You manage to get a good purchase. Like you said, wipe the blood off your hands that was causing you to maybe wipe some of the dirt into your fingers, the sandy dirt into your fingers to get some purchase, like one would with chalk. And you grab ahold of the bars and almost quite easily, almost comically easily pull them back one handed almost. And so now is the gap big enough to fit you each through. As Morita, you kind of come down from the bars. Well done. Cheers for hand.
00:24:56
Speaker
That was just wonderful. Well done both of you. Thank you. Slightly turned on. Everyone's going to go and touch the wooden doors to check if there's any heat coming from them. I've had some heat problems. Are they warm?
00:25:17
Speaker
They're warm but only from the sun. You have been feeling from shadow men know when a door is warm from being just generally warmed from the sun and it's similar to that. You remember being quite a cloudless sunny day in the morning during the attack of the dragon. Push doors open.
00:25:36
Speaker
And the doors fly open and boom, there's a dragon there. We're looking at you. I've been waiting. No, he's not. Not again. It's episode one all over again. No, a fork. No, there is silence. And as the doors thud open and blinding light comes in, you realize quite how low light you've been kind of dealing with. As you step up out of the street, out of the sewers, and you look around, you see people kind of milling around.
00:26:03
Speaker
You step up onto the street and notice a rather, kind of a main thoroughfare kind of coming through. You're in the north part of the city, the sewer system, the way you'd moved and ended you up in the north part of the city, just to the east of kind of Jordan Walk, which is the northern road out up into Highhaven.
00:26:20
Speaker
You're in an open kind of square area where there's a couple of houses around it. They look like residential houses. And as you scan the skies, the skies are clear of Dragon. However, you do notice off to your to the east.
00:26:36
Speaker
You notice smoke rising from the docks. You look to your south and far to the south, you see smoke rising from the south. The east and north are smokeless. One can assume from that that the damage the dragon has done and the city has sustained.
00:26:54
Speaker
is primarily on the docks and to the south of the city. The north seemed to have been missed primarily from the dragon attack. Alpha, as you step up onto the docks, you finally feel the sun again on your metalness. Is there anything you want to do?
00:27:14
Speaker
Um, yeah, firstly, I want to have a look at the, uh, ships. I'm assuming that obviously they've all been kind of many have been burnt to a crisp is the, uh, Beckford still there. The ship apologies. I should have made it clearer. You're not at the docks. I'm not at the docks. Okay. No, no, you are near the kind of Northern set central Northern part of the city. If you look at the map of gold, you, which will be, uh,
00:27:38
Speaker
popped on the website at some point, I'm very sure, listener. If you kind of take the central, oh, fantastic. If you take the central square in the middle, Vita square in the very center of the city, the large kind of square, go directly north from that, in that final top kind of section, nearer the wall-ish.
00:27:55
Speaker
But in the middle of the complex of buildings that are up there, that's where you are. So you're a good 10, 15 minute walk from the docks, and then you're a good 30 to 45 minute walk to where the flames might be down by low lathe near the Aflaf River, near the south of the city. That's fine. At the moment then, I'd still be staying next to rains, and as we step out into this destruction,
00:28:20
Speaker
Alf will basically take a moment, look around, take it all in, turn to Reins and be saying, my, my, this is rather terrible. I wonder what could have happened to the dragon to make it want revenge.
00:28:36
Speaker
Dragons don't normally act in such a manner. Just sorry, Callum. Just a retcon slightly. The area you're in, the northern part of the city, is untouched. It's fine. There's no flames, there's no damage. Yeah, but I'm looking at the smoke and everything else. Sorry, apologies. I know the area we are in is fine, but yeah, he's looking in far off distance at the damage that he can see and all the smoke that's billowing. It will be literally covering the sky at this moment. It's not something that Alf has ever seen before. No worries, continue.
00:29:04
Speaker
Just really quickly, are there any more of the purple robed group around visible? None that you can see. And just to confirm, Marota knows that uniform. Yep, absolutely. He's very aware of it. Right. You've been reading a lot about dragons there, Elf Alpha. Dragons are normally a part of legend or fiction.
00:29:33
Speaker
But I found a rather interesting book in your library attempting to translate their language. I think I may have understood what they were saying. Yeah, I know it. Heather IV tried to write it. He also turned to dragon scale himself from experimenting on them things. I have no intention of experimenting. But if I translate the language correctly, the dragon that was attempting to burn down Kofi wanted some form of revenge. I wonder why.
00:30:04
Speaker
You understood that dragon? I do believe so. If I may quote, and I'm actually going to say this in Draconic as well, but it's going to sound like an audio recording of the dragon itself. Let me bring it up and I'll say it. Okay. I'm going to say it in Draconic first, and then I'm going to translate for Reims. I feel like you've got like a mini tape player in your chest.
00:30:34
Speaker
Yeah, for anybody who's in Futurama, it kind of just kind of rewinds a little bit like that. What you're saying is you're a mixture of Alpha from Power Rangers and Bender. I've never said, I have never said I am Alpha from Power Rangers. We kind of said that. I think we've said that. No, I mean, you did say it by calling your character Alpha. That's like saying that I'm not Hercules, my name is Hercules.
00:31:00
Speaker
I am the first Warforged, that's why my name is Alan. Go suck a dick, but I'm not... Oh, okay. Alan, you're... That's what the dragon said? Jesus, that's a weird thing for a dragon. He really wants revenge, my God. Or he wants a classic Saturday night. Is this the they cannot tame us, we will rise thingy? No, I have written down here that it says I'm going to make you pay you revenge, it's coming.
00:31:27
Speaker
Where did you get that from? I think your translation module's a little funky there, Alfalfa. You listen back to the recording, I guarantee you it's not. Call me sasty tonight. I've got those notes too. You've got, they cannot tame us, we will rise. That was the second thing you said. The first thing you said was, I'm going to make you pay revenge, it's coming. Yeah, I do have that in my notes as well to be sure. Swivel. I don't have it in mine because I didn't understand it. No, cool. Yeah, all right, let's go with that.
00:31:59
Speaker
Yeah, sure. I don't have those notes, so I don't know where I've got them. Anyway, I will record, I will play back in Draconic, the word spoken by the dragon, and then still looking at Ray and saying, I believe translated, it says, I'm going to make you pay revenge. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You can't have this gift.
00:32:21
Speaker
that's bestowed upon you of memory recall without you doing the actual memory recall. So, Adam, for the listeners, can we have, in Draconic, what you heard? I recall what I've said. And it plays out loud, one assumes. Not if I choose it not to.
00:32:42
Speaker
I have not got written down what Mark actually said in Draconic Glen. No idea how to spell it. All of a sudden, all of a sudden a speaker appears from his shoulder, up on his shoulder, and it says, Nafari Shafir Munrehi. Which is right. You were right. Thank you. The Lord for Mark. You try and spell that. Have inspiration, Mark. Thanks, man. Inspiration.
00:33:11
Speaker
Alpha, there's a lot about today that doesn't make too much sense. I thought dragons were consigned to the history books and stuff for legend until this morning. I certainly don't know what one is doing in Goldview, but it's making me reassess why we've come here. We should be careful, but it's interesting that you can speak Draconic because
00:33:39
Speaker
That surprised me. And since I installed your memory core, it's organic and it certainly wasn't there at the start. It was not. As I said, I found an interesting book in the library and I learnt. Well keep an eye on it, okay? As you wish.
00:34:06
Speaker
As you guys are talking, as soon as we came out of that sewer and Nick saw the smoke coming from the docks, he would run towards the docks as fast as his tiefling legs would allow him to. Okay, so the rest of you have seen him sprint off. Does anyone want to follow? Yeah, I'd follow because that way is where my money is.
00:34:31
Speaker
And I will follow because everybody else seems to be going. Well, what was that to Emron? Emron's closer than you and me. Emron looks at them, looks at you guys, looks at them. Reins? At the day, they know the way to this pub. I said, we follow, I guess.
00:34:52
Speaker
Alright, and Nyx breaks off at a sprint followed quickly by Marota, followed quickly after a couple of seconds of trepidation by the three Shadow Menders. Shadow Menders, no, that can't work. Shadow Mendy and... I also want to make it clear that I just need to see the ship, not necessarily get close, just want to be able to see it. Okay, yeah, don't worry, I know what you're aiming for, Ian, don't worry.
00:35:14
Speaker
and you start darting between next from your perspective darting between buildings left and right pushing off from people making your way through as people are trying to continue with their daily life pushing through and you're pushing to the side slightly take a left take a right you head down jordan walk you cut through past a large building that looks kind of important with books outside it you run down a thin alleyway jumping over a couple of of barrels of ale and of rubbish and things like that as you continue to make your way down you kick someone as you stumble over someone on the street you kind of forward roll
00:35:44
Speaker
the street stand back up again as you continue running, running, running and suddenly you take a turn to the right, take a turn to the left and suddenly the streets gonna open up and he has a view over the docks get lower probably by about 15, 20 feet lower and open up round and wide around near the Avlaf River on both sides of it and you can see now, you can see now the destruction that has taken place on the docks. You look to the north and you can see a number of the fishing vessels that bank on the north and off to the off from the city's
00:36:15
Speaker
area burnt, still on fire. You can see some of the larger vessels, some of the military vessels as well that have been very badly burned. As your eyes quickly scan around, your heart racing, your breath quickly panting as you look for that very, very distinctive feature, the gold-plated nature of the Esmeralda, your eyes scan down and then you see her, birthed right next to the Avlath River, where she remained, where she was, without sails.
00:36:41
Speaker
You also notice that after the ship there seems to be a lot of blackened damage. It's not on fire.
00:36:49
Speaker
but it is there, it is upright, sail-less, and there seems to have been some substantial damage to the aft of the ship. From where you currently are, you can just about make out small figures moving around the ship, not running, but just moving around, and you can see someone, I think, soaring at some wood, you assume it's your bosun, and you can see some other things going on, but it's kind of controlled movement, it's not panicked movement, it's controlled movement.
00:37:14
Speaker
One or two of the other ships around her are on fire still, and you can see a little purple thing is moving around. You can see casted flame, not flame, sorry, spells of ice subduing the flames around her, but none of the crew of the Esmeralda are helping in that regard. The ship is upright. Is that yours?
00:37:37
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, that and Nick's just points over, just almost bent over kind of as fast as he was running. It's that kind of sick in your stomach when you stop and you clutch in the wall. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that, that. And he remembers, oh, yeah, of course. Yes, that's the great Esmeralda that I was talking to you about right there. Don't worry, just catch your breath.
00:38:00
Speaker
And suddenly the final three kind of bustle in behind as Nix is catching his breath. The three of you kind of bustle in behind after being a couple of seconds behind and you catch up with the other two.

Tavern Camaraderie and City Gossip

00:38:12
Speaker
Will this delay show?
00:38:21
Speaker
What? No, no, we'll never want to let anything like this spoil our shows. No, no, no, this show will go on as planned. Don't you worry. Don't you worry. It's nice to have a fan. There are many, many, many fans out there. Okay. Okay. If I'm right in thinking, you among you wanted a pint, am I right?
00:38:51
Speaker
That was tip plan, aye. Very well. Before we do move on, can I just have a quick look? Do I see the Beckford there, which is the ship we came in on? You scan down along the docks and you notice on the other side of the Avlath River, which is where
00:39:11
Speaker
you docked on the south part of the city, the smaller part that breaks away from the river. You can see the single sticking out, kind of jutting out area of the port where the Beckford was docked.
00:39:23
Speaker
You can still see the ship there. It actually managed to miss being burnt entirely. Three of the ships just next to it are half-sunken wrecks in the water. It managed to avoid the damage. It is still there. You cannot see any crew members. It's too far away to see. We're talking
00:39:44
Speaker
quite a distance away. If you are looking at the map that I've got that's got the key on it, I imagine you guys have all appeared at around where 33 is. So around a known rat run entrance store that any of you would know what that is.
00:40:02
Speaker
That link doesn't have that. That's why I passed a message earlier. That's not the same amount of links. Sorry. No worries. I will pass on this updated one to you, Ian, and you can upload this one with the numbers. Well, I'll wreck on that.
00:40:16
Speaker
I mean, from where you currently are, you can make out the ship, it's there, it seems undamaged, you can't see from your distance any of the crew. Morota, you've kind of taken a few steps forward and leaning against the side of a building maybe, kind of overseeing these docks. You haven't spent a lot of time down by the docks in your time in Goldview yet, but here you are looking at the destruction and damage that this dragon has wrought. Was there anything you wanted to do?
00:40:41
Speaker
Yes, seeing this, I'm then going to think, because I'm not exactly sure location-wise where it is, the place I work and live, which part of the city is that?
00:40:52
Speaker
The place that you work and live is in the, there's a small section in the, I'm sorry, I've got the map, I can see the northwest part of the city. There's like a final block near the wall and there is a single building stood alone against the wall. It's not there, it's a collection of buildings just to the west of that.
00:41:14
Speaker
Okay, so it's not in the docks or the section to the south that's like ablaze? No, you are well and truly in the north. Basically, you came in off the Ash Cross Road without the first place that was AQN, which happened to be in that area there. Yeah, okay. Then I won't. I'll have a moment of worry and then I'll just get my bearings temporarily and then know that that place seems to be okay. So you wanted to go to Clay Peak Hall?
00:41:41
Speaker
Yeah, that would be great. The ship's fine and I can always get... I think it's more important to get to you guys. You've worked really hard and you all deserve a drink. It's even on me. It's even on me and I'll come back and I'll go to the Esmeralda another time. But first, let's quench your thirst. Hi, follow me. Now you're talking language I can follow. And you're almost talking the language I can.
00:42:12
Speaker
Appen. Did you, uh, fix each other down there? Oh, yes. Um, a spell that we have cast before it stopped there. We couldn't figure it out properly. No need for an explanation. Just as long as you're both happy now. Oh, static. Thank you. Things do seem to be acceptable. Yeah, I agree. Acceptable. Good word, Alpha. They're acceptable. Satisfied, Alpha. One could certainly say that, yes.
00:42:42
Speaker
That's a mighty fine toy. I have no reason to not be satisfied at this moment in time. I have a question, Nix. You said something about when that gate opened that you found it attractive and you think this, Potato Peter, what's your bag, man? You seem to find a lot of things.
00:43:04
Speaker
a rousin beautiful i just killed one of my many talents that i have i look at uh... the finer things in life and see the beauty from within uh... it would be put about that and i don't have time has been held with his mouth okay i'm sorry that at the frozen that will you present about that but i thought you're making a point that you just don't have a for the whole time i'm so sorry that i was doing something
00:43:30
Speaker
Everyone's just like, pub. I'm walking and talking. I assume we are walking and talking. Well, it's D&D, guys, if you don't tell me. I was standing very still, looking at the dogs and having a chat. Otherwise, it's very difficult to order. I assumed we were killing the dragon. I assume that's what we were killing. Is it not dead already? Cannot just take his gold?
00:43:48
Speaker
yes okay fine we are walking and talking you make your way up through the streets and you head back onto Jordan walk the main road and you take a right and you lead out leading up towards the northern gates of the city you don't get to the northern gates Morota turns you down an alley we're kind of a major alley and you see a couple of small stalls offering small wares and pieces like that
00:44:09
Speaker
Along the way, nothing of particular interest, maybe a few things of food, bits of leather working, stitch work, etc. Hats, etc. And maybe a couple of pairs of like artisan gloves and things like this until you make your way through and you see now the front of the clay peak hall. Morota and Nyx, for you guys the second time, well, more than the second time seeing this, Morota, but different now seeing it in the day, different now seeing it when it isn't raining during a storm.
00:44:37
Speaker
you see the large oak panel doors in front of you and you can hear jiviality on the inside of people uh talking and um a little bit of fun having happening inside uh what would you like to do you're also outside gonna go straight in okay i will follow follow yeah follow them you push the doors open and some smoke comes out from the fire that's inside and you the place is
00:45:04
Speaker
packed again with people and many of them are in relatively high spirits and busy drinking. You notice now the windows are quite badly tinted with either the smoke from inside or the smoke from outside, which means not much light gets through, something you didn't notice in the evening time actually.
00:45:24
Speaker
It's a quite low level light. The chandelier above head starts to light it. Those of you who haven't been here before, you know there's a central pillar in the middle with some bookcases around it. And around that, hugging it is the kind of three-sided bar. There are large numbers of large tables and single tables sat around with a series of
00:45:42
Speaker
of, not quilts, what we're trying to say, rugs on the floor, kind of animal skin, rugs that make it nice and light underfoot. There's a really nice air of friendship in the air, and in the bar, there's a warmth, there's a smell of food on the go, and you can see behind the bar, the couple of people sat at the bar speaking to him, a large, very large, if you listen to the prologue, a large man stood there talking to a couple of patrons,
00:46:08
Speaker
Many of the benches, the large communal areas are full, a number of the smaller tables are empty as well. There's about five or six spaces at the bar that are also empty as well. Alpha, you approach this and walk into a space that I assume you have never been in before. Indeed, before we would have actually
00:46:27
Speaker
Before we would have actually gone in, Alpha would have kind of wrapped himself in his cloak, put his hood up and whatnot still at the moment. He's still trying to make it a little bit indiscreet at this moment in time just before we go in. And then he's going to try and stick close to Reigns and Enron. Just try and make himself blend in just throughout this entire journey at the moment. OK.
00:46:48
Speaker
Yep, these double doors are pushed open and that's what you see and you step into the bar and no one really notices, no one really cares, conversation continues like normal. My friends, we are back. We are back again. I have brought more people. Matthew, I see you over there. We are coming. Guys, if you want to just... Actually... Popular place. Do you want to come with me and get some drinks? Guys, do you want to just...
00:47:17
Speaker
Station over there and nix is pointing to an empty table. Hey. Hey everyone. These are my friends I said I'd bring more people I've even brought this is a warforged. It blows my mind. It's crazy and Nick's gonna make his way to the bar at the moment that you started Addressing I immediately put distance to myself and you went straight for the bar I don't like the the spotlight you keep drawing on everything
00:47:42
Speaker
That's a couple of people turn and look at you, but many are more interested in their own conversations and kind of, they hear you, but they don't listen to you, if that makes sense. And the other three of you walk into that space as Morita walks a beeline towards the open area of the bar and to the interested and raised eyebrows of Athieu. Morita's just going to sort of lean straight over the bar and reach a hand out towards Athieu as though to ask, are you okay?
00:48:10
Speaker
Yeah, we're doing fine here. Thank you, love. Sorry, I shouldn't call you love. It's not very polite. Sorry, I didn't check in sooner. You know, there was a fucking dragon.
00:48:21
Speaker
Yeah, we're aware of that. We're trying to raise the spirits here. We've got half-priced drinks on the go, trying to let people not think about the issues that are going on. Drown some thoughts, if you know what I mean. That's all we've been good for. Hey, anyway, that chap get back all right last night, the one I asked you to look after? Well, he went off. Yeah, he sort of stumbled around, but no bother. Yeah, you were right, though, importantly, Marota.
00:48:49
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, there's just some weird folk in town, you know? I'm thinking more about that attack. I know you went down that area. Yeah. You know, to the docks. I'm fine. I got scorched a couple of times. Oh, my God. It's got to do with something strong, if you're willing to partner with it. Of course, of course, on the house, on the house. Let me see. You know what? I'll get you some of that chaps' radish. You know the lad you took home, the one we're not supposed to take from it.
00:49:17
Speaker
Just a small one. I don't like it, but my friend, he seems to love that shite. And he's going to look over his, uh, your shoulder and his eyes squint small for a second as he, they fall upon Nick's again. Oh yeah. Him. He didn't happen to get scotched. Did he? I did.
00:49:38
Speaker
Not enough apparently. Alright, well, I'll make him a drink up then. I'll make him one up. What about your other friends that have walked in as well? I don't know them. They've sort of just tagged along. Alright, well, just the one drink. Anything for you, Marota? Aye. Ale. Not a problem.
00:49:55
Speaker
and he pours out the two drinks and puts one in a rather small dandy glass thimble, literally a thimble, did so small one after all, and then gives you a nice hearty large pint frothy top with a nice big handle and turns the handle to worldview. Those are the only two on the hour, so we're half in the price of drinks, but I don't wanna make a loss. Bless you, thank you.
00:50:17
Speaker
And I'll stroll back quite a bit of a smug look on my face to Nick's and just hand him this tiny one while I've got a tank at the size of his head. You're too kind. I mean, wow, this is going to be some potent stuff. This is a thimble, I believe. I've never had a drink from a thimble before. Wow, how elegant. I don't think Matthew likes you very much. Cheers. But it's free. See you on good health.
00:50:45
Speaker
and you knocked it back. I still need some help with the drinks. Come with me. Come with me to the bar. I'm not sneezing. I'm saying your name. I'm not sneezing. I'm saying your name. I'm not sneezing. I'm saying your name. I'm not sneezing. I'm saying your name. I'm not sneezing. I'm saying your name. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I'm sneezing. I
00:51:08
Speaker
Hey, I'm memorable, I'll take that. Can we have a round of drinks, ales? I'll pay. Let's get some, you don't do meats, do you? We did do meats, we can do meats. I'll mail you to Marota, sorry. I turned towards Marota and say, you don't do meats, do you? I live in an abattoir, I work in an abattoir. I'd rather not eat what's come from an abattoir.
00:51:37
Speaker
Okay, so some veg, and if you've got some meats as well, we'll take a platter, if you will. I understand that food might be tight, but I'm good for it. All right, he takes out a quill and a little bit of paper, spits on the ends of the quill. How many are we cooking for then? How much are we preparing? Oh, just one side of plants and greens for the muscle, and then just, let's get some smoked meats.
00:52:06
Speaker
For how many people, though? Four. Four people. I don't think one of them eats food. Oh, everyone will eat food after this stuff my mum cooks, don't you worry, Marotta. I don't think he's in every one, but... Yeah, no, this one's made of metal. Made of metal?
00:52:21
Speaker
Yeah, he's at the back there. What does he eat, then? Oil. Do you have any cooking oil? Is it heat or it? I haven't seen. I couldn't confirm. Do you have oil? I hear a lot of weird things in my pub. I'm going to treat this like everyone else. I'm going to give him some meat. He's going to eat the meat. He's going to enjoy the meat. If he doesn't, he can fuck off. Now, we're going to get some plates of meat there. He's dealing up some numbers as he goes. Are you going to want some more drinks, I suppose? I'll put them on. Yes, of course, another round of drinks.
00:52:51
Speaker
Never had a drink for all five of you, yeah? Yes. All five of us. Thank you very much. Once again, I don't know if he drinks. Ah, fuck it. Yes, five. Ah, drink. And he's going to eye you up a little bit there, Nix. And he says, well, today we were doing half price on drinks because of what happened down at the docks and in the south of the city. But for you, Nix,
00:53:15
Speaker
We'll do it full price. How about that? I'll tell you what, that's fine with me. All right, and let's square up before I know that's all right. Just because like I said, we're short on money today. That's all right. We normally square up a tab or so, you know, I know you're good for it normally. It's going to be 25 silver pieces overall. Moritz today, your friend was paying. I'm going to hand over 30.
00:53:43
Speaker
You've given me too much and he hands back five. I'm gonna leave five on the table. That's for you, good sir. Just the very kind of you, Nix. How very kind of you. I'm a very kind person, Matthew. I don't understand where your hostility is coming from, but once again, I'm indebted to your service. You're feeding me and my fine friends. And as always, I will come back with more people next time.
00:54:08
Speaker
I respect you for that because it's what you said you'd do and then you did it. He looks left to right for a second, his eyes squint small again. As he leans forward, you can hear the creak of his belt or something underneath his large gargantuan belly mover. As he leans forward towards you, Nix, his eyes getting smaller and smaller. As he leans in close, you can smell his breath as he just says, You smell like ash. What's your game, bitch? What's your game?
00:54:35
Speaker
Might as well. Maybe we'll have a brain sometime. Yes, I look forward to it very much. I'm well-knowned for Liar's Dice. I have my own. You don't need to give me a set. Come forward, my friends. You've been stood back there looking like you don't belong here. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'll bring the stuff to them. That's fine. I hope to be the friends of the London. M1, M1 goes forward, moving through the crowd with his hammer, just leans against Bart.
00:55:03
Speaker
And after you've seen the Hammond sees you, says, well met fine gentleman and he puts his hand open, palm open, ready to shake your hand. Ah, well met. Good sir. And everyone will reach over and give him a good hearty handshake. He shakes it, all alone shakes the
00:55:19
Speaker
He shakes his whole body almost, whoa, as he kind of feigns your strength a little bit, but in like a respectful way. And then he quickly turns your hand over in his hand so that your knuckles are in the palm of his hand. He looks at your calloused hands for a second and then lets your hand go and go, blacksmith, good sir. That'd be my trade. Well, fantastic. We need more of your kind in these parts, more builders, more people that give to the community. That's what we need. Good to see you. Nice to meet you, sir.
00:55:47
Speaker
Nice to meet you. Emron's the name. Emron. Nice to meet you. My name's Athu. Athu Dunsain. Ah, Athu. Great name. Strong name. As is Emron. Now, who's this lovely chap here? Ah, I love the glasses you've got, sir. The goggle things on there. Ah, I'm doing, fuck it, I'm doing your accent now. I'm on your head, mate. Ah, I think you're fantastic.
00:56:10
Speaker
He leans out of hand again. Are you a friend of him, Ron? Oh, yes. My name's Rains, Rains Howdell, and I'm at the bookshelf, and what I'm going to do is, the one book I just picked up and started to turn around, I'm just going to instinctively hold out to Alpha knowing it's the sort of thing that would fascinate him and he would enjoy. And I'm just going to come over to the bar and shake his hand.
00:56:33
Speaker
And he shakes your hand and he turns your palm over for a second. That's a good handshake, it's a good handshake. And you too, sir, very nice indeed, turns your hand over. A tinkerer by trade? You use your hands, Lee, sir? Of sorts, I certainly do. You're a perceptive man. I like to do my bit. I like to know who I'm speaking to from time to time. Lovely to meet you too. And finally, good sir, with the hood, you can take that down, it's all safe here.
00:57:00
Speaker
Alfred's going to have the book open in front of his face anyway. He's just going to be like, yeah, that's okay, sir. Thank you very much, though. Lovely. He's still got his hand out to you, sir. Oh, my apologies. And then Alfred's just going to put his hand out. You can call me Al. Al, lovely to meet. And then he grabs your hand, then he notices something different and his eyes get small for a second. And he does the same, puts his palm on the back of your hand, looks at your hand.
00:57:26
Speaker
and then looks up at you. Well, probably just the eyes that you can see over the book. My hat is gloved, by the way. Ah, in all my years, I've never felt such a solid pair of hands. You must be the muscle of the group, sir. Yes. Spelt. Athletic. Muscular. There is not an inch of fat on you. You must have given it all to me. Everything wobbles around.
00:58:07
Speaker
I'm sorry, I'm sorry. We're working on it. We're working on it. Hey, you know, if the dragons keep coming, there won't be much of it left anyway, so we can all start again. He says bleakly as he passes out the drinks and he shouts down. Can I help the phone there a second? The holder, what's that? I don't know. In Shadow Man, we have what's known as, they're like sending stones and they're known as a foam. What is a sending stone, my friend? I have not heard of one of them.
00:58:18
Speaker
One last good joke, Al.
00:58:35
Speaker
Oh, it's it's like a we make with the system. I see him. It's a tiny rain, rain, rain, rain. You don't know what you're on about. He's smiling and he nods your friend. Everyone speak. I'm doing the accent again. God damn it. I mean, myself and now we have it's a friendly accent. I'm fascinated by this accent that
00:58:59
Speaker
marauder has got over here i've never heard that either so when you hear something new it's imitation of the former flattery my friend you absolutely it doesn't your friend everyone does speak the true fair you know i don't know what you're talking about at all but know that i know you mean well and uh it's a it's a pleasure to meet you and i'm sorry if you are new to the city that you have come during a dragon attack that doesn't normally happen i'll give you that one
00:59:23
Speaker
Okay, whilst we're not interested in the sending stones, the sentiment of which I said the sentence remains keeps happening. You mean to tell me that this ain't the first time that the city's been attacked by a dragon? It's the first time we've had an attack of that scale, but there has been talk of
00:59:44
Speaker
roars and areas the sewers bursting into flames from from who knows what doing who knows who underground there was rumor of and he brings his voice down as he moves closer a movie of experiments happening on these poor deep beings under the ground now i'm not part of that following i'm not all to release them and all that that's not my bag of chips thank you very much i'm all happy with me and my pub and following my own mission in life but
01:00:11
Speaker
some do speak of atrocities taking place to those animals underground and some say it's those chaps in the purple that are responsible but who am I to say as long as I get my pub nice and full and everyone's happy and arty I'm a happy geezer you know what I mean the dragons underneath this city just just that that's what you're saying to me right what can I say and he pours out a cloth
01:00:34
Speaker
I work in a tavern. I hear stuff, whether it's true or not, or just the braggadocious information told by drunkards and lurchers around. No offense there, Dave. You know, that's the kind of stuff I hear. I'm just passing on what I've heard. Yeah, it's all right, Dave. It's all right. I'll have another ear. Drink on me. Drink on me.
01:00:49
Speaker
How many points have been put out just to check? There are, there's one more round, so Nix and Mrota have got their drinks and then there is one for all five of you, which is just five more ales that he's put out. So everyone will sort of push his ale towards Rains and sort of goes, Al, you want in a pan or? Golly gosh, Al, you thirsty?
01:01:15
Speaker
Yeah, golly gosh, Al, I'd love to see you drink. Well, I think I would too, Nix. Yeah, that would be a mighty fun sight, Al. I mean, I mean, it rains. It's not me pushing Al into drink. I'm just checking whether he's wanting to drink, otherwise I'll have both pints. Of course, only if you're a social drinker, we're not to put you down a dark road. Well, if you don't find a lot of passion on it just at this moment in time.
01:01:41
Speaker
That's all right. More for me. Cheers. Sorry, I missed your name. What did you say you were? You can call me Al. And you can call me Betty.
01:01:57
Speaker
You were waiting for that, Ed, weren't you? You wanted to set that up for a while. Hang on, I thought your name was Nix. Who's Betty? My name's Nix. I'm confused of what's going on here. This is boring me. I'm going to sit down by the fire. I really need to talk to you. Yes, are you called?
01:02:22
Speaker
Yes, very frightfully. It's amazing that you knew that. Okay. Fire seems good to me. Let's go to fire. Ah! Matthew, why don't you ask to see his metal arms? And I'll make a point of seeing if Matthew will distract them for a few moments longer.
01:02:45
Speaker
I would, but I've got to get out of food on the go now. I'm really sorry. My mum's still asleep. Fucking annoying. Anyway, I've got to pop down there. Listen, Dave, I'm going to put you in charge of the bath. I think it's fucked up. I know your sister. All right. We've got history together and I will go down and I'll kiss her. I promise you I will. I don't care if she's 80. I will kiss her. All right. So you look over this bar while I make those lovely people their food. We're going to have an issue. All right. All right. All right. Give me that everyone. We've got a sex toy if you need to borrow it.
01:03:10
Speaker
You what? No, I'm not gonna go. I'm not gonna buy that. It's a potato peeler, but apparently it looks like a sex toy. I could do a one if I'm doing some veg. Nah, I'm just joking. I got freedom down here. And I don't pay any of them up my bum. And then he turns around and walks off.
01:03:25
Speaker
Everyone's like that annoying person that, you know, they're just following you around this party. As he says that, I'm just going to glance at Alfred if to say, what do they do with potato peelers in Sleepguard? It's the subtext of the look I give him with confusion.
01:03:44
Speaker
Alpha is probably going to interpret this quite correctly, knowing Reigns so well. Does he need to roll perception for that? In all fairness, I would take more insight to try and interpret what he's trying to say. Yes, go give me an insight. For a man that doesn't get metaphors, this could be interesting. Well, yeah, very fair, very fair. Oh my God.
01:04:05
Speaker
I rolled a two and I have a minus one to my insight. So I got an unnatural one. So Darren, what is it that Reigns has just said to him? I've just kind of looked at Alpha with a kind of a shocked and concerned expression as to like, what the fuck do they do with potato peelers in this city? You take the look that Reigns gives you is a look of like scared aggression. You feel that suddenly something is approaching him that's going to attack him.
01:04:34
Speaker
like that from like the door that you entered in. Yeah, Alpha would quickly close the book and just kind of turn round and just he's still waiting for something. He's got his eyes fixated on the door massively right now and he's not shifting these days.
01:05:08
Speaker
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa
01:05:13
Speaker
As you move, is there a whirling sound? Is it mechanical or is it? I can still pivot as per any normal kind of organic creature. So I still got all the joints and bends as anybody else was. I can still kind of pivot on my feet. If I step, there would be a louder than average noise. No mechanical whirl. You wouldn't hear a mechanical whirl, but you would hear metal grating on wood. Whereas if you're wearing shoes or something like that,
01:05:39
Speaker
It would be quite soft. It's like if you're wearing metal shoes.
01:05:46
Speaker
A little bit, yeah. Because they are only thin, so the sound wouldn't be muffled as much. I am wearing shoes, but the sound's not muffled as much because it's quite... It strikes me as being like, just like you're perpetually wearing armour, and the way that armour would chink and crank and it would do a bit of that. Yeah, I suppose you would hear that with normal kind of thing. There's no, like, whirring or ee, ee, ee. I was like, I'm doing an actual, the robot kind of situation here. Fair enough. I liked your ee, ee, ee. Yeah, you kid you that more often. No.
01:06:14
Speaker
I think that's the noise Alpha does when he finally understands what being scared means. He'll go, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee, ee
01:06:43
Speaker
Okay, and down the other side of the pub is kind of away from the other side of where the roaring fire is in the central area of the pub, the other side of the pillar, away from the door. You're near a large kind of board, like a notice board thing on the side that you can kind of lean against, which gives you a little bit of distance between you and the other three, unless M1 chooses to follow. M1 was still following the two people who know the pub. Okay, yep. So M1 will be following along with the two of you as Rains and Alpha continue to talk about potato peelers and look at doors.
01:07:12
Speaker
What are we doing? This is not where we're sitting, Murata. This is not where our food's gonna come. Let's just go and get ready for the food. Come on, this way. Sorry, I was just so taken in by all these notices. Emron, do you know any of these languages? What does that say? And could you study that for a minute?
01:07:33
Speaker
I'm not quite strung with words The mental capacity of thought one would assume either. Let's just Actually, I'm on a minute. This is I over the notice board. Is there any anything sorry you want to respond? I was just about to be Insulted where we are with dreams pines. I don't get you Nick. Sometimes you you're friendly and sometimes you just down right and
01:08:02
Speaker
Why do I feel like you're the grandad? And sometimes I feel like you talk more than you know, but it all goes around. Sometimes I know more than I talk. That's a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very,
01:08:25
Speaker
Yeah, there are a number of kind of scrawled messages and things like that, that patrons have left other patrons. There's one saying, Dave is a dick. I don't know, I'm picking on this guy, but anyway. And there's one scribble underneath it. Someone scribbled above it. Thanks, Danny, for the oies. Someone probably, Dave, above it has written, isn't above it. And there's a bit of back and forth. Lovely childhood fun from these old men, probably.
01:08:46
Speaker
But in and amongst them, yes, there are a couple of notices that do stand out. There's one that's scrawled and etched actually into the wood at the bottom of it. One that stands out a little bit. There isn't a notice on paper or parchment. It is a bit that's just etched into it. And it says, they do not own us. They do not have a say. We are sleep guard. We will find a way. Mustafan rises.
01:09:10
Speaker
And that's etched into the bottom there. I will put these in the chat for you guys in just a second if you want to make notes of them. And there's three other major ones that I've kind of pasted on top that seem more recent. One of which seems to have been put on top of all the others. It seems super fresh. The ink almost seems wet on it.
01:09:29
Speaker
and it just says, will anyone help? My son Julius has gone missing. I haven't seen him since the dragon attack. Please visit me in Vita Square as soon as possible. We have borrowed some money to pay you a reward if you can find him. There are two others that look slightly older, but maybe Nix would have taken your eye because they mentioned the idea of money, or the word money is mentioned upon it, which is what I'm assuming you'd probably be looking ideally for. One of them states,
01:09:58
Speaker
I hate it when items you don't want end up in your house without you having to pay any money for it. Of course, I know this is illegal and would never commit a crime. If you share my love for the law and not breaking it in any way at all for massive monetary gains and support of a local merchant, visit my shop, The Elven Ear.
01:10:18
Speaker
And the last one sits at the top and it's in lovely cursive writing and it's on a nice, quite thick plush piece of paper actually. There seems to be a little kind of, maybe a gold fleck to it as well. It says, my niece, Orla, has gone missing. She was last seen over at the slums of the city on Lo Laith Road, probably near Arms and Armour.
01:10:40
Speaker
She is a veteran of the Blight and fought bravely alongside the heroes of Sleepguard. She was in the column which led back to the Spiritmon readout for God's sake. Please, someone find my niece. I have no money to offer, but if you find her, I'm sure she will make it worth your while. She now runs a profitable monster hunting business. Aside from that, most of the other messages are directed towards Dave, his small penis, and how people don't like him.
01:11:10
Speaker
I imagine there's like some that say if destroyed still true next to it as well. Yes, absolutely. In that old school child way. Yep, absolutely. Yeah, crossed through. Sorry, I've got to put it in the chat. It's come through as one massive paragraph, which isn't helpful at all. So I will find another way of sending that to you so you can have the actual information for yourselves. So where's food coming to?
01:11:39
Speaker
that table there probably maybe why don't you wait at that one you don't you don't seem very sure why don't you maybe if we stay together just ask you will see now you know how it feels doing you ask you will know where to bring food

Job Notices and Strategic Discussions

01:12:00
Speaker
While this is happening, I'm just going to gather some of the ones that appear to be about saving and looking for payment, knowing that we're going to need to make some money soon. I'm going to gather them off the notice board. Oh, shit. You're here too, of course. Of course. There's no notices right in front of you. Oh, yeah. We're looking for work. And I know it's this person who's last in Nice and this one.
01:12:20
Speaker
I'm not interested in the shady one. I'm just going to take the two that seem to be help and make it worthwhile. And I'm just going to... Emran, Alpha, we should probably converse about this. Let them have their space. I'm sure they'll find us. Yeah, we should probably wonder if... Next, do you know if this place does rooms or accommodation?
01:12:50
Speaker
Yes, certainly, of course it does. I'll tell you what, that's already done and paid for as well. So after you've finished up and had your meals and your drinks, you see those stairs over there. If you just go up there and it's the first room on the right, and I've got you all because you know each other and I thought you wouldn't mind sharing, trying to keep the cost down if you don't mind, you're all in the first room on the right.
01:13:12
Speaker
That's a bunch of blights, Phil and Bliss. I appreciate it. Right. Thank you very much for everything. Insight check. The rooms are to the left. Yeah, there's no stairs in this place. I roll the insight check with advantage. Thank you. There's no... What is this? I'm rolling insight. I think you're deceiving me. Yeah. Yes. Oh, seven.
01:13:41
Speaker
Smells like bullshit. Well look around you, do you see stairs? Why do I have to give you the answers to everything? Right, as I say, don't be a cock now. And we'll sit here and wait for food. You go, have your wee secret Toki Toki. I know when I'm not wanted.
01:14:04
Speaker
And everyone will sit down. Do you know? Because I've been trying really hard to get you to just fuck off at five minutes. I've walked off by now. Talk to yourself, lass. So the three shadow. Oh, I forgot that.
01:14:24
Speaker
Shadow Mendians. I was going to say that. I thought that was wrong. The three Shadow Mendians, you move away to a table that could be at party five or six and leave Marota and Nix finally, finally to themselves for their quiet conversation. You two are alone. You turn to face each other. What would you like to say? So what's my cut? Yes. Finally. Here we go. I just, uh, I don't trust the others yet. You know what I mean?
01:14:53
Speaker
No. And I've got some hot coppers. So, your cut and your cut is absolutely earned. It's 40 gold, your way, 10 silver and 50 copper. I appreciate that. No, I appreciate you. I don't make friends too easily. I mean, I make friends, of course, but I don't make friends.
01:15:18
Speaker
Uh, you know what I mean. Um, yes, absolutely. And there was, there's other things as well as Nick's, uh, digs through the pockets from, uh, his deep pockets from his, uh, long blue leather coat. Um, and he picks up the silver ring and he just kind of plays with it in his hand. I don't know how much this would be worth, but it's, uh, it's rather attractive, I think. And he's going to put it on, uh, his middle finger. Okay. Looks pretty good, don't you think?
01:15:48
Speaker
You seem to be into that whole flashiness, so sure. Yeah, I think it looks very becoming. I like it. While we're looking at your fingers, I heard them say that they are wanted, that there is a bounty on their heads. Oh! That's...
01:16:16
Speaker
fortuitous for us. I... That's really good to know. Just... I need a... I should... Hang on. As Nix goes to get all the gold from his pockets for Marottis, they're talking. It's just more gold for you. It's more silver. So they're wanted as well. And as he's talking to Marottis, he's found the note as well.
01:16:45
Speaker
That's really good. I wonder who wants them and he's unfurling the note because it'd be really good for sounds like a good payday, especially when you've got a war forge. What's the note say? I've lost the page. Give me a second. Give me a second. I load it down. This light is awful. I'm trying to read this note. I'm so sorry.
01:17:03
Speaker
And it's really scrumpled as you start to unfurl it slowly, corner at a time. Leaning on the table, it's eye in and out with your hands as your eyes squint down, as you look deep into the notes, as you look closer and closer and closer until you see letters and ink. And the letters form words and the words form sentences as the Google Docs page loads in front of you and then crashes.
01:17:33
Speaker
Wait, and then loads again. You fall into the notes and are trapped. For three episodes. No. You see the notes says in very, very flowery, very flowery cursive writing across a small ripped piece of paper, clear out the lab down there. We need to move our business. Burn the papers. Leave no trace that we were there or we will leave no trace that you and your filthy friends ever lived.
01:18:04
Speaker
And I say that this means nothing to me. Anything to you? No, but it seems like someone was using them. Maybe. Keep it. It might be something about dragons being under the city. And I mean, I've still got the burn mark on my hand from that door. You don't suppose that's where they were doing any nefarious things.
01:18:30
Speaker
Look, I don't quite trust you enough yet, but I think in time I might, and I might have more information about some of this situation, but that note, it could be quite useful if, if anyone else saw us down there. Ah, as a, some form of defense. Do you want to keep hold of it?
01:18:59
Speaker
Sure. You have more knowledge on this stuff than I do. I'll take it. And my, what's your thoughts on my idea? I was going to say, so our newfound friends, uh, they're wanted. Yes. And they seem to want to do some good. So perhaps, you know, we could go along and help keep them close. I like the idea of having my investments nearby. If you understand what I mean.
01:19:28
Speaker
Yes, I think that's a very, very good idea. So they're looking at taking on some jobs. Maybe, maybe you and I can have some sort of accord where we both financially
01:19:45
Speaker
Profit. Hi. We need time to figure out exactly who wants them, you know? We can't just like attempt to hand them into some random vibrating phone on the table. We may want to just let this play out and see who the interested parties are.
01:20:13
Speaker
Agreed. And I have a vessel. We can get them wherever we need them to be. Sure. I mean, it seems like they're still doing remedial works on... Well, if we've got some time to get to know them and understand exactly what the bounty is, I can send word to my ship. But don't form an attachment.
01:20:40
Speaker
What are you talking about? I don't get attached. People get attached to me. Like you, right? I mean, come on, you're feeling something here between us. It's not just me.
01:20:55
Speaker
It's just business, you know. I like that. A man's got to try, right? A man's got to try. Regardless, I'm in. I'm all in. I throw my dice your way. Let's see how the numbers play. And as you look back round to the other three members of your disparate group, and Reigns holds up a pint with a smile on his face towards the two of you.
01:21:18
Speaker
And as you guys start making your way back over to them, Alpha is about to bring the food over at our little rest moment in the Clay P. Cole. That's what we're going to leave it for this week's episode of the shadow. I was going to the shadow men to the favor shop then. Well, I messed up. I said, I'm going to the fellowship, the fellowship of the shadow, the fellowship of the tabletop. And that's what, and that's what we'll leave it this week's episode of the fellowship of the tabletop, tabletop, tabletop, tabletop. That's what we're going to leave it for this week's episode. Thank you so much for joining us, everyone.
01:21:49
Speaker
I think we broke the mark. I got that. I did it. There you go. That was fun. That was a lot of fun. Oh, so many layers. So many layers. It feels like the beginning of your sudden but inevitable betrayal.
