Oh, I need my notes up, fuck. I literally shut my notes halfway through that and was just enjoying like playing that with you.
00:00:25
Speaker
Hello

Introduction to the Podcast and Setting

00:00:26
Speaker
everyone and welcome to tonight's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play 5e podcast set in the disputed lands of the Varandian jungle in the magical homebrew world

Session Kickoff and Character Introductions

00:00:35
Speaker
of Eryth. My name is Darren and I'm going to run some D&D for you this evening and holy hell did things get crazy last week. These are the Shaberman Tales. With me tonight we have playing the human ranger Macbennar. We have Will. Get the women and children out! Get them out! Playing the Dragonborn Paladin. We... Drago, we have Ian.
00:00:56
Speaker
Yeah, let's do this. Playing the Dragonborn Rope Siongar, we have Mark. Quick hide behind the women and children. Playing the Goblin Barbarian Druid Kratz, we have Callum. Hello. That was a good one, man. That was a good one. Playing the Hobgoblin with the Luca Burrow, we have Danny. And playing the Bugbear Druid Chungus Bongwater is our one-shot wool belt extraordinaire. I'm on a horse.
00:01:27
Speaker
And to get into this, let's have the frantic and wonderful tomes of epic voiceover guide to tell us what the hell went down last time.

Shop Confrontation and City Under Attack

00:01:36
Speaker
Previously on the Fellowship of the Tabletop, we started to wreck a shop. Torvid turned around and confronted the party as they'd entered the shop, only for Torvid to be attacked by his minions, cursed their sudden but inevitable betrayal.
00:01:52
Speaker
These creatures, revealing themselves to be UMT, were attacked by the party, while Kratz and Okaburra ate some nuts. As the fight went on, only a few people got to attack, when suddenly the UMT decided to say, fuck you guys, and firebombed the place. An explosion erupted throughout the shop,
00:02:15
Speaker
Stunning everybody. As the smoke cleared, the crisp form of Torvin and the two creatures, now very much crispy critters, were left upon the floor with the unfortunate person of... Mygar. Mygar! Left dead upon the floor. Then the door slams open. Darkness envelops the room.
00:02:44
Speaker
People react, and a voice whispers into the minds of the party, saying, we only want her. And Ren is plucked from the party. Surging out into the streets, it appears that the city is under attack, but due to budget constraints, we don't have the special effects for that, so we have everything in darkness, so we don't have to pay for it.
00:03:05
Speaker
So the UNT emerge from the darkness, the party fight them off and see this UNT love child of Cthulhu and a snake with tentacle arms and human features, it's a little bit weird, leading off towards the waterfall and its escape with Ren upon its shoulder.

Chase and Combat Against Creatures

00:03:24
Speaker
Drago realizes he has a horse and jumps on it and starts to ride after it.
00:03:32
Speaker
Chungus Bongwater rides a dinosaur. Who would have thunk it? And now our party get into this weird Minas Tirith meets Jurassic Park kind of thing. Thank you as ever, epic voiceover guy.
00:03:51
Speaker
As was rightly pointed out to Ian at the end of the last episode, Drago does indeed still have a bonus action, so we pick up the end of Drago's turn. What's she doing, Ian? So, as Drago is racing forwards towards this snake-haired, Medusa-type motherfucker, Drago's obviously crouched low on a brood and he's trying to kick their hindquarters of brood to try and make him go as fast as possible.
00:04:17
Speaker
He's within 30-foot reach of this creature. He's going to cast Misty Step off of a brood and land teleport in between Ren, which is slumped down, and Medusa motherfucker, so he's eyeballing him straight up. Yes! Okay, yes. The horse just continued and Drago disappears off the back of this horse and then just appears in front of this creature, great axe in hand.
00:04:47
Speaker
get away starting to develop and look like they're about to come around you. You don't flinch and as you have just rightly said eyeball this creature and tell it to get away. Thank you, Jago. Anything else? That's it untapped. That's not enough for you. You want more? The horse still gets its go.
00:05:13
Speaker
Yeah, because Brood was charging. Is Brood just going to charge past this creature? Brood has an attack. Well, you've just landed in front of it, so he would have to charge in front of Brood. So I think Brood's intelligent enough, so once he sees Drago in front, just to rear back up and would stay within the vicinity, he's not afraid of danger. He's been in the path of the Blight.
00:05:44
Speaker
So he knows when shit's going down, but he also would know that he doesn't necessarily need to act as the second tag team partner here. Yes, and if you're wandering listeners, if you think back to two episodes ago, Skymarth called did tell Drago that whilst this is a creature from the Feywild, it will contain the essence of memory from Brood, so it contains within all the memories of the material Brood.
00:06:06
Speaker
Okay, that is the end of Drago's turn. It's Ren's turn who is just motionless at the feet of this figure.

Evolving Tactics and Strategy in Battle

00:06:17
Speaker
It goes straight to the top of the order. Who could burrow your turn? Okay, so I'm out the house and I've seen all this because I've been out that shop for a while. What's the distance between where I am and this melee that's happening between Drago, the shape of water character and
00:06:37
Speaker
It was 70 feet, although I last said, but if you want to roll perception, because it's a free thing that people do, what you perceive around you. I'll tell you what else is going on. That's 18.
00:06:54
Speaker
Okay, yep, you notice as well that there are still more of these figures. You can see them literally just terrorizing general civilians as well. Depending on where your focus is, though, if you wish to focus on what is happening away with Drago, what you see is Drago's on the back of his horseback and then all of a sudden he disappears.
00:07:12
Speaker
then reappears eyeballing this creature. It says silvery mist for Misty Step. I'd like to say that it's a red mist because of the amulet beaming and Kiva pushing him forward. Nice. That's one step too far in the rules now. No, flavour, flavour for you. You see the red mist. I know that there's a direwolf running around. Who is my closest ally, positionally?
00:07:39
Speaker
You have, if you've just come out with a shop door, you have Chungus off to your left by about five, 10 feet on the back of, but what you have is an Allosaurus and then Chungus through the top of the darkness. I feel like he's sorted. You have McBenna to one side and then you have Syengar and the Dire Wolf in front of you. You're within proximity of everyone else. Okay. Is Syengar... I've got to be very careful about this. Syengar,
00:08:07
Speaker
10 feet from Kratz. Or more than 10 feet from Kratz. I will say 10 feet from Kratz because he was 10 feet behind Drago. Okay, here's what I'm going to do. So I'm going to position myself. So I'm 15 feet away from Kratz, but hopefully less than 10 feet from Macbeth.
00:08:35
Speaker
So if I did a thing in a radius, it would affect those two, but not Kratz. I've basically got a 10 foot radius. I just want Kratz out of it. I was meant to be stood near Syenga. So I want Syenga and I want to be in touch distance to Syenga and McBennan to be within 10 feet. Great, but not Kratz.
00:08:57
Speaker
If you were really particular about where you stood, yes, you could have changed. Okay, here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to just walk up behind Kratz. Sorry, walk up behind Syengar. I'm going to say, your brother might need some help. Oh, boy. And I'm going to slap Syengar on the back. And as I do, I'm going to cast Thunderstep on both me and Syengar. And we're going to teleport 90 feet right into the face of this Squidward guy.
00:09:24
Speaker
Which is going to cause a lot of damage to people within 10 feet of where I cast it. So McBenna, you need to make a constitution saving throw. In party fight. That's a 17. Okay, you pass. You're going to take half this damage. Yes.
00:09:57
Speaker
You take nine points of thunder damage. Macbeth will remember this. You've been. The sound of thunder could be 300 feet everywhere. And I'd like to think, yes, ACDC starts to come in now. This solo showdown that exists between Drago and this bad guy is now joined by his bro and his bro.
00:10:45
Speaker
Just explain that again what just happened there because that was magical. Slap your brother on the back.
00:10:52
Speaker
We instantly warp like yours, but bigger and flashier and there's thunder. So much better than mine. And we appear right next to you. Like in Avengers where Thor like comes back to the battlefield with Groot and Rocket and there's that down. Meanwhile, McBenna got hit like Thor Ragnarok and the Hulk jumping off the ship onto the rainbow road. And then, yeah.
00:11:21
Speaker
As we get there, I'm just going to take one step back and just look over Syengar like, this is you now. That's sick. 5-1-1, so I designate who I hit. It's going to be Ukaburra. Your turn, it is Syengar's turn. Syengar, you are just processing all of this and now you're alongside your brother and Ukaburra with this hulking, disgusting, very, very smelly, very, very large creature in front of you.
00:11:51
Speaker
Stein goes down on one knee, shaking from what's just happened. The ringing still pounding in his ears. The short bow that he had fingered off his right shoulder is dropped down and kind of held in his knuckles as he just releases it from his claw into his hand. And as he pushes up, reaches to his scabbard and pulls out the rusted sword and kind of swings it once, twice over his shoulders.
00:12:15
Speaker
The beetle mask that he's wearing to give him dark vision is skewed off from his snout slightly because of the vicious nature of the thunder action. As he twists it back into position, he looks up at this creature, grabs ahold of the bottom of his jaw, and just cricks his neck one way, cricks his neck the other way, swings his soul once, twice, three times over his shoulder, and then parries Rapost's round, steps down, deftly to the left, trying to get me around so that I'm kind of like, I imagine like he whoops underneath,
00:12:45
Speaker
Yeah these tentacles which were in collapsing round drago all of a sudden seem to notice you and you just you just kind of matrix under them. I'm trying to get myself basically around the back of it so I get advantage obviously sneak attack and I'm trying to stab it somewhere in a weak spot I don't know what the fuck this creature is so something that looks gooey I'm I'm going to aim for and I'm going to stab a bitch up. Roll to hit.
00:13:09
Speaker
Do I get advantage if I'm flanking? Yep, you can get round it and flank it. Yes. After that lovely description, rolling a 1 would be really disappointing right now. He's not going to get a 1. He does have advantage, so he'd have to roll it twice to technically get it. 14. 14 hits. OK, OK, OK. So I get that. I also get my sneak attack. So you're going to be taking 15 points of slashing damage.
00:13:40
Speaker
Okay, great. Thank you. You were able to get around the back of this creature and you are able to, you see one of the tentacles, you're looking for somewhere to hit and then all of a sudden you go, oh, it's got quite a few of them. And you're just able to bring the short sword through and just cleave off one of these kind of like glooping tentacles. And a noise

Kratz's Rampage and Chungus's Defense

00:13:59
Speaker
seems to emit from this creature, not from its mouth. And again, what you can hear is in your mind rather than
00:14:06
Speaker
in your ears. But yeah, you're able to cleave off one of the tentacles that are coming from one of the arms. May I have a second's worth of speech as well if I may be so bold? Of course you may. I might have retconned it and maybe said it as I kind of snuck round past Dragron. I imagine I'm on his right and I step out in front of him
00:14:28
Speaker
and kind of low to the ground underneath, miss a tentacle, and then get around behind him. As I pass them, I'll just say, one hit, then we do the same as before. That's what a Lord of the Lord managed to say. Okay, thank you. Crats, it's all kicked off around you. With your passive perception as well, you're still aware that there are a lot of other of these figures nearby. It depends what you're interested in as to what happens now.
00:14:57
Speaker
Are you interested in what's happening in the big fight or are you attuned to what's around you, what's Kratz doing? Anyone who was to look at Kratz at the moment would just find his head buried into the ground as much as possible and his paws would be kind of trying to cover his ears. I have very sensitive hearing to direwolf and something he's just gone boom. So that will take a couple of seconds just to clavitise myself. I would look ahead
00:15:25
Speaker
and see everybody surrounding the Davy Jones type character and look at Rebecca behind me as well. And
00:15:37
Speaker
I'm just going to leave McBenna and I am running towards this tentacled creature along with everybody else. How far in front of me is he? 70. 70. That's fine. I will use all my movement and use my action to dash and just find a position. So that will give me 100 feet worth of movement of the direwolf. And I will just position myself in an empty spot.
00:16:05
Speaker
and you're going to have the snarling and growling and drooling of this rabid direwolf as I let loose a howl into the sky and just use my bonus action to go into rage. Okay, as you charge, one of these creatures are going to lunge at you with its attack of opportunities. You have to run through these figures. One of them lunges towards you for a 15 to hit. Yeah, that hits.
00:16:31
Speaker
Okay, you get stabbed with the dagger. You take, oh it's not very good, two points of piercing damage as this dagger is just jabbed towards you. Not a problem. I disregard it, shake it off and keep barrelling up. Okay, great. That will be before you rage, don't forget. Yes, I'm not half that, I took the two points.
00:16:52
Speaker
And it's the one T's turn. And three of them see this giant make it to us crashes level level crashes dash to make it with you. And else is he in terms of like, to the mind, I've kind of envisioned at the moment that you've got tentacle man, you in front of tentacle man, ran behind me ran behind you.
00:17:13
Speaker
sign guard behind tentacle man and i've literally come up and i'm kind of in the middle of you to the two dragonborns at the moment you've also got to borrow just off to the side of drago as well you can borrow just a size of dragon so i'm not gonna get cold okay i'm happy
00:17:31
Speaker
Yeah, very, extremely. Yes, you won T. There's about three of them that see this allosaurus in turn with their short bones and just panic and shoot towards it. One rolls on natural one, the other one rolls a 12 to hit. That is a miss 13 AC. And the third one rolls a 18 to hit.
00:17:54
Speaker
most certainly. You do need to detonate whether you're aiming for the ride or the creature. It's aiming for the allosaurus. It's the big buccal thing. It's periphery. It's going to take six points of piercing damage. It's one of the arrow's careens into this allosaurus. Another one
00:18:12
Speaker
is going to take hot on the tails of this direwolf and it's just going to lunge towards it, reach for the direwolf and then just lunge towards it with its dagger for a eight to hit. That's the miss. Okay perfect thank you and that's enough to be getting on with for the U1 team. McBenna it's your turn. Cool I'm still up.
00:18:34
Speaker
But Benner will use 30 feet with movement to casually stroll up the street towards where this fight is. So I assume I get within 40 feet of everything. Yes. And if nothing's tried to attack me yet, that's fine. I will then use my bonus action to move Hunter's Mark onto the big bad guy. Yep. And I will then shoot him. Go for it, roll to hit. Okay.
00:19:01
Speaker
So 25 to hit on the first one. Hits. Cool. And then... Takes 12 points of damage on the first attack. And then for the second attack... 13 to hit. 13 misses. Fair enough.
00:19:33
Speaker
And... Are there any creatures within five feet of the bad guy? Any bad creatures within the five feet of the bad guy? No, because of the direwolf between that and the other one that's run towards it. I mean, technically the direwolf is an enemy, but no, that's fine, that's fine. Yeah, that's the end of my game. No, that's the end of my game. Okay, yep, fine, thank you. Not all of us are knobs in combat, that's fine.
00:19:58
Speaker
Ooh, sass. Yeah, this one arrow hits the creature, the other one seems to just catch a point of scale and just falls to the floor. But it has now been pronged with a arrow as well. It is...
00:20:14
Speaker
Chungus, your turn. There's a group of DT1-T who have just shot at your Allosaurus. You're also aware now you're out. With your passive perception, you now being up high and then not being a giant fuck off drake attack this time. You're the one who can see that the drakes are outside the wall clearly dealing whatever's happening there. They swoop down a couple of times. There's been some flickers of frost and fire and lightning.
00:20:37
Speaker
Inside the walls, however, with your passive perception now able to turn your attention to see what's happening up the hill, you're also aware of the three you want to within about 20 feet away, just readying short bows at your allosaurus.
00:20:52
Speaker
Question what is the terrain like around us? Is it is it because obviously we're inside the city is their plant life kind of Around on the floor is it is it similar kind of like jungle aesthetic within or is it kind of main roads? There's some stalls that have now been overturned. It's not like the vegetation you had on the verandian. Yeah, that's fine Is I'm assuming there's no yeah, there'll be no vegetation. So that'll alter what I'm doing. That's absolutely fine from seeing
00:21:20
Speaker
Obviously, this massive, or hearing this massive explosion and turning my attention towards the waterfall and seeing everyone charging that way, I'll just poke my head down to the Allosaurus below me and just say, I think they can handle it up there. We've got to deal with these guys. And as I say that, I am going to use my bonus action to just go for a starry form archer attack on
00:21:48
Speaker
a nearby yuan-ti doesn't necessarily matter which? Yep, you go for one of the arches down below. If you're not indiscriminate, which one? It will be the one in the middle. Go for it. Okay, absolutely fine. To hit, that is 19. Hit. Wonderful. That's a tasty 11 points of radiant.
00:22:03
Speaker
This one just disintegrates into a bursty, starry form of light. One of the arches is dead. Amazing. And then from that, I'll cast another eye up at the group and see that Kratz is very much engaged with him. And Chungus will kind of look to him, look to the auntie and just go, well, just in case. And the meteorites will extend to his arms. He'll push them together, Kamehameha style, and cast a guiding bolt across at the nasty bastard that everyone's fighting with.
00:22:32
Speaker
Okay, is that for craps? No, it's fighting. I was trying to hit the guy that everyone's attacking. Oh, okay, yep. What's the range? 120 feet. You're fine, roll to hit. 21 to hit. Hits. Okay, that is...
00:22:50
Speaker
Oh, that's a really shit role. Nine points of radiant damage. As now this big creature that is still eyeballing Drago is just getting pummeled with these things and it's unperturbed. Its eyes are still very much focused on Drago. Awesome. It's now, the next attack on it is with advantage. So as it's kind of illuminated in, I like to think that it's got like, not necessarily constellations, but it's like the stars are zooming around me and now kind of lighting it up somewhat more.
00:23:18
Speaker
Okay, right. Yeah, and that's all for Chungus. Okay. It is the pit monster, it is his known, and it is its turn. And what it is going to do is it's going to, without taking its eyes off Drago, Chungus, are you okay?
00:23:37
Speaker
Yeah, really sorry. Allosaurus. Sorry, buddy. That's right. No, it's my fault. He's going to go ahead and just munch at the nearest one tee. Okay. Yeah. It's a 27 to hit. Yep.
00:23:53
Speaker
And it's a fair whack of damage. It's done. If it's more than five hit points, it's dead. Yeah, again, similar to before, its head just comes down and just bites across the shoulder by them, rips the shoulder joint off, and the creature just bleeds out and falls to the floor. Okay, now it's the Pitmaster's turn. What's going to happen is that the Pitmaster's eyes are not going to come off Drago.
00:24:22
Speaker
It's going to lash one very quick and swift arm out towards you, Drago. It's not going to hit. It's going to be a eight to hit. No, that misses. Yeah. You were able to just power this away with the axe. It's then going to have another pop and it's going to this time go for the creature next to you, which is who can borrow for a
00:24:53
Speaker
17 to hit. Okay. Obviously, the listeners, you can't see this for Kratz, played by Callum. Callum did a very no in the background there on reaction of Rookaburrow getting hit. It was pretty cool. You take five points of piercing damage.
00:25:23
Speaker
and it's going to use it. It can use poison's disciple to add more poison damage to this attack. That doesn't sound good. Not when it's a disciple. He's rolling lots of dice. I hear a lot of dice. Yeah, that's a lot of dice. You take another 18 points of poison damage. Oh, shit. It can use it when it hits. I'm on minus.
00:25:54
Speaker
14 hit points.
00:26:13
Speaker
Can I just jump in there? Is Kookaburra near, sorry. He's next to us, isn't he? He's in front of the, with Drago, he's in front of this creature still, you're at its back. Okay, nevermind. He's not within five feet of, wait, no. When a creature within five feet, if he makes an attack against the target other than you, yes, I'm in front of the target. I don't use my reaction to send Sentinels attack.
00:26:41
Speaker
So I'm going to attack, I get a melee, I get a melee weapon attack against the attacking creature. You see who could borrow, go down and they're able to tend to. Yeah. And I don't get sneak attack on this. Do I? You can use it once off your turn, technically. Yeah. Once per turn. This is still part of my turn. It's once per turn. Doesn't have to be your turn. Yeah. It's not your turn. So yes, you technically can. Okay. So that's a 23 to hit. Yep.
00:27:09
Speaker
and he's going to take three plus nine, so that's 12 points, another 12 points of slashing damage. Okay, yeah, thank you. Okay, yeah, you see Ukaburra just fall and then immediately just instinctively just lash out at another one of this creature and take off another one of these flailing limbs that you've just seen absolutely devastate Ukaburra. Okay.
00:27:37
Speaker
That's the end of the pitmaster's turn and the end of your reaction. If you're keeping score, you've used your reaction until after your next turn. Just realized, really started to jump in. Technically, he would have had advantage because of guiding bolt. So just in case you get that Nat 20. I'm flanking with Drago anyway. You already have advantage. Oh, shit. I didn't. Sorry, let me just quickly. Thank you. I totally forgot. I'll roll again just in case.
00:28:06
Speaker
No, that will. Okay, nevermind then. Cool, cool. Right, it's moving on to Drago's turn, unless Will there is a drastic intervention that needs to happen. Will's hand is up. I think he's stretching his hand. Oh, okay. Yeah, that's me leaning, sorry. It did look like he's putting his hand up. He's doing a sensual lean instead. I was leaning, sorry. Okay, Drago, you've just seen who Cabaro fell asleep. Fellowship of the Tabletop Calendar, come your way.
00:28:32
Speaker
Yeah, sorry, very serious moment there. He's next to me, isn't he? Within my five foot. One of these things lashed out at you. You were able to block it off and the one from the other side just lashed out and caught Ukaburra. He wasn't expecting it.
00:28:46
Speaker
Okay, as that happened, because that whole time, me and the pit monster were eyeballing each other. And as soon as he glanced off to the right to hit Okaburra, when Drago sensed the dead weight collapse next to him, Drago would have broken eye contact and looked down.
00:29:05
Speaker
So Draghi's going to kneel down, just looking up at the Pip Monster, and he's going to just, while still looking, just throw his right hand out, just to create some contact. And Ukuboro, you're going to take... I know it's not a lot, and I'm sorry, but I'm just being sensitive to what I might need this for. You get five points of healing back on you. That's great. That's all I need.
00:29:30
Speaker
Just lay on hands. Yes, that was lay on hand. Yeah. So you see that for anyone else seeing it, you see Drago as he's looking up at the pit monster hand on a cabara and the amulet will start pulsing red.

Confrontation with the Pit Monster

00:29:42
Speaker
And you start to see like the pulse shifting down through the right arm of Drago and then just lay this kind of red glow between Drago's hand and the cabara skin just emanates and it could bow your eyes will open you will hear
00:29:56
Speaker
Come on, we need you. Just be careful, though. And then Drago is going to slowly stand up, eyeball him again. You're making a mistake today. And once again, the amulet is going to pulse. And as a bonus action, Drago is going to use his paladin ability of Valve and amenity, which for the listeners,
00:30:26
Speaker
gives me a vantage. As a bonus action, you can choose a creature you can see within Hemfey, and you gain a vantage on attack rolls for one minute, or until its HP drops to zero, or falls unconscious. So there's a bond now between Drago and the Pit Monster that is channeled by Akiva, and almost that red pulse from the amulet is reaching. Not unlike the purple glow of the Yuan Ti,
00:30:54
Speaker
There's a red glow behind Drago's eyes as he's bonded with Akiva and because of that has bonded to the pit monster. That's the end of my go. Thank you. Ren's turn. Knowing that now Drago, the safety barrier is between you and her, the stoic eyes are going to just glance up at the creature and then look towards you.
00:31:18
Speaker
and she's just going to herself just take a steely breath spit out a gobbler blood herself and her hand is just going to reach out and touch the back of your calf and she's going to cast haste on Drago.
00:31:30
Speaker
as the nearest person and the person who's nearest to her, she's just reaching out instinctively and casts haste on the nearest person to her. That's the end of Ren's turn. Ukaburra, your... What does haste give me? Haste basically gives you now double... Because in my head, I've got the Final Fantasy clock just coming over my head. You can have it just a little bit quicker on the spot. As you're engaged, the key thing you need to know right now is that you've got an extra attack.
00:31:58
Speaker
oh is it plus two to ac it will hate plus two to ac i believe oh shit i love that spell it is concentration and if ren breaks it you will miss a turn like what happened with madonna before um uh once again if it if an attack has to hit me before my concentration breaks is that correct it's ren who's who's mine too i've got a concentration spell up
00:32:24
Speaker
You do, which is, what is it? I can't even remember. I'll locate her, she's behind you. So yeah, it's not the end of the world. It's still up, it's 10 minutes. It's still up, it's still up. Just in case he decides to get around me. He did try and attack me. He didn't, no one's hit me. He has to hit, he has to hit. Alright, then we're good, we're still on good. I'm just letting you know.
00:32:44
Speaker
None of the spells I've cast so far require concentration. I'm on this shit. Ren is still prone, gathering her breath, but she's been able to just reach out and touch the nearest figure to her and cast haste on it, which is you, Drago. Ucubara, it's your turn. You're prone as well, obviously. I will stand with half my movement, thank you. So there's me and Drago on one end with Ren just behind us, and then on the other side, Flanking is Sayengar and the wolf.
00:33:14
Speaker
Correct. Yep. We'll sign off now behind the creature. On the other side of Drago, flanking in is the direwolf of Rhekrat. Okay. Okay. Okay. What I'm going to do is... How... How... Can I get a sense of how injured this thing looks? Have we barely scratched the surface? You can use your perception check. You can use your perception check.
00:33:44
Speaker
That's a 10. Wounded, but it's still standing. Better than it ever did. It's like a true survivor. Feeling like a little kid. Probably feeling like a kid. Okay, here's what I'm going to do. It's bullseye, but I don't care. I'm going to cast whole person. Is it a person? Will this work? It is technically a medium monstrosity. So it's not a monstrosity. It's a monstrosity. Okay, it won't work.
00:34:12
Speaker
which I should have told you, Macbeth, apologies. Yeah, thank you. Okay. Then, yep, fuck it. Darren, you got some work to do here, I'm afraid. Okay, yep. I'm going to utter foul words and summon demons from the chaos of the abyss, and I'm going to shout at the top of my lungs, Meet the rest of clown bong water. I don't know what's happening, but I'm already in it with it. What's happening? I'm casting the spell Summer Lesser Demons.
00:34:45
Speaker
I'm going to roll a d6 and you need to basically populate the space with demons of your choosing that are going to pile on to the big bad guy.
00:35:01
Speaker
That's so cool, like almost like dragging him down to hell or something like that. And then the things come up. Final fantasy challenge, I was rolling on that now. So two demons of challenge rating one or lower will appear. Such as mains or dretches is a suggestion.
00:35:20
Speaker
Okay, what happens, Ookaburra, is as you reach into whatever vestige within yourself is calling you to cast a spell, the ground starts to open.
00:35:34
Speaker
the ground starts to open and these green like almost ant-like but larger with these large horns and these dark ears and these very sharp teeth and these pierced spiked bodies, these quasits emerge from the ground and they immediately start to take in their world around them and they're going to lash out at whatever comes first. So on a one it's going to be the creature, on a two it's going to be you, on a three it's going to be Drago and on a four it's going to be Syngar.
00:36:05
Speaker
It's a four. Mark's having no idea. Oh well. What'd I miss? Demons. You're done. So, Okaburra summon demons. The demons attack anything.
00:36:23
Speaker
Everything's hostile to the demons and it's attacking you one of them. Let's do it man, let's fight some demons. Does a 10 hit your armour class? It does not. It takes a swipe at you of its claw and misses. The other one... Excuse my free action Darren to go... No! The big tentacally one!
00:36:44
Speaker
I'll roll for that one. I'll roll for that one as well. Roll the one. That is going to attack the big tentakilly one. And it rolls a 15, which hits. So it takes four points of slashing damage. And now this needs to make a DC 10. It's just me playing a DC 10 saving throw, which it passes, which means it then takes, so it takes three points of piercing damage. It then takes three.
00:37:11
Speaker
half it takes three points of poison damage as well and isn't poisoned so it takes six damage seven damage total so the pit monster has taken seven damage total from this quadrant has just started to scratch a bit and it's just launched itself towards it has so far gone for sighing are they and that's the end of your turn if it's better and
00:37:35
Speaker
Okay. They've just done it. Um, so that's the, that the quasits have just attacked. I'm going to put them to one side for now. Quasits. That's what it's called. Not closets, but like Quavers and Watches. Okay. Um, now available at Aldi. Quasits. The, these trying things out of nowhere. This little closet has just come for you. Um, fellowship snacks. What do you want to do?
00:38:07
Speaker
Um, shit, what would Sangha do? Confusion, probably dodging under like, what the fuck are you? Um, and it's going to kind of move itself further, a little bit further around the big bad. He's going to have eyes on, he's going to switch sword hand to his left claw, right hand kind of up towards his
00:38:25
Speaker
thing. There's demon that's appeared out the ground. He's still going to go for the big tentacle. The still mission is we need to get that girl back. She's with us. I'll deal with the demon later. So he's going to take another swing, stab, hit, hopefully still in some form of advantage kind of.
00:38:40
Speaker
against Drago. Oh no, he's not going to do that at all. He's going to, sorry, ignore that totally. What's going to happen actually is he's going to switch to his right hand, hold the sword out, kind of keeping this demon at kind of arm's length and you shout and kind of through and over the over to Drago. I'm ready when you are. I'm going to hold an action. Okay, cool. Thank you. We're going to hit everyone, man. Everyone else are going to take a crack. It's your turn.
00:39:10
Speaker
I think this will be the second time Mark has killed me. Well, downed me with this breath attack. Well, it all depends on, because I haven't seen what's happened to it. Anyway, we'll figure out what happens when that comes round to it. It's Kratz's turn for the time being. Anyway, yeah. Kratz is going to see Ukubo fall down.
00:39:40
Speaker
get really angry, get single-minded, get blood rage filled. Then he's going to see him come back up again, literally a few seconds later. He's like, okay, still angry, still Blu-ray, still single-minded. He's going to go for the tentacle man. I'm just going to try and bite and I'm going to try and sink my teeth just kind of into the side rib cage of this creature or whatever the hell he's got there. I don't know.
00:40:04
Speaker
I'm assuming because we're pretty much all surrounded. I mean, I've got pack tactics anyway, which gives me advantage. As long as I have an ally, I would be fine. Yeah, you've got advantage. Sweet. Okay, first one's a 12 to hit. Miss. Shit. Second one. 23 to hit. Hits. Awesome. That is 13 points of piercing damage.
00:40:34
Speaker
Okay, nice. Yes, this picture you're able to you're able to this time is one of the tentacles are still flailing just this time instead of trying to bite the torso. You like saying I'll just say Oh, okay, like a dog that's in a bone. Just jumps up and just rips off some of these tentacles yourself. Lovely. Can you make a DC 13? Shrimp saving throw? I can. It's rolled a 12. Oh, cool. You you are prone.
00:41:03
Speaker
this creature just fuds to the ground. I'm still gnawing at his rib while he's on the ground. That's huge. Okay, great. The one tea. No coffee, please.
00:41:28
Speaker
This one that's been going for the direwolf is going to try and grapple you. It's going to try and grab itself onto your back, Kratz. I believe for grapple you need to make a strength saving throw against its athletics. I do.
00:41:43
Speaker
No, he makes an athletic saving throw against it, either athletics or acromatics. To shake it off. Ooh, it's more than an actual 20 for a 20. Generally, 21.
00:41:56
Speaker
He tries to climb onto your back, thinks it's got on, and you're just able to send this goblin, you ante. Filing off your back. I'm going to say that ends that one's turn. You've got those extra dice up your sleeve. I just rolled an eight.
00:42:13
Speaker
The one near the Allosaurus is going to turn and leg it, because it's got an Allosaurus in front of it. The Allosaurus can take an attack of opportunity if it likes. Oh, it most certainly likes. So, is he 16 to hit? I'll hit, yeah. Okay, amazing. Then it is a minimum of...
00:42:34
Speaker
Oh, fuck me, that's 17, 20 something points of damage. Yeah, the head just turns sideways and just seems to just devour this this this attempting to flee. You want to hold. There are still others doing lots of terrible things to lots of people, by the way, but for the stuff that that's that's notable for you guys. Another one is just going to pick up its bow and a few more are just going to take some shots of this allosaurus. The first one rather 14.
00:43:02
Speaker
That does indeed hit, yes. You take five points of piercing damage. Okay. The second one rolls a 17. Yeah, it hits. And you take seven points of piercing damage, what the Allosaurus does, to be clear. Yep.
00:43:20
Speaker
still looking pretty healthy. Yeah, you do see now that there are now quite a few dead bodies scattered across the ground that some of these UNTs have just started to kill people. You do see that their numbers are starting to thin out as well. A lot of the chaos that's been happening outside the city wards appears to also as well be starting to dissipate as the Drake Wardens appear to be
00:43:43
Speaker
doing what they need to do on the other side of the city wall. That's the end of the Yuan Ti's turn. Bena, it's your turn. You've got what's in front of you, you've just seen this creature fall prone. There are still a lot of other Yuan Ti scattered about if you wish to find them.
00:44:02
Speaker
I'm going to keep sort of casually strolling. I'm imagining right now that when Ben is just walking up the middle of the street, chaos is surrounding him. Nothing's touching him. He's just kind of walking up the street. Looking quite cool. And I'm going to use my first attack to shoot one of the demons, because I've just seen some demons appear. And I've seen one go for Syengar, so I'm going to shoot a demon. Yep, makes sense. Go for it. Roll to hit. So I'm going to, this is the one that was attacking Syengar.
00:44:34
Speaker
That's a 26 to hit. That hits. It takes 12 points of damage. This one, the arrow, just goes straight through one of its big bulbous eyes and it just falls back with dead. Okay, I'm then going to use Horde Breaker to attack Tentacle Creature and I know it's prone so it's at disadvantage. Okay, yep, go for it. So I'm going to use Horde Breaker to roll at disadvantage.
00:45:06
Speaker
That's a natural one on the disadvantage. That misses. Horde Break, it doesn't do anything. It's still a second attack, there is still another demon. It's just a normal attack, so it's whether the one hits somebody, but it's fine. I'm not playing Mark Bruzels. And then my second attack, I will go for the other demon. Yep, roll to hit. Why are you going to kill my demons? And that is a...
00:45:35
Speaker
20 are non-natural to hit. That hits. What do they do to you? They're my pals. They appeared. They're demons. They're bad things. It's fair. It's fair. It's basically, fuck you, Teddy. 10 points of piercing damage. That one's dead as well. These two demons are just quickly dispelled by quick arrows that have flung in from McBenna. Anything else of your term, McBenna? No, I say I see demons, I kill demons.
00:46:03
Speaker
No, that is the end of my go. I don't need to do anything with my bonus action, he says. Nope, I'm good. Chungus, it's your turn. Cool. There's a couple of things I might want to do depending on the scenario. Are there still lots of civilians around or are they displaced? Yeah, you can now see wounded, you can unfortunately see some dead as well. There are still some you anti-scattered, most of them now appear to be
00:46:30
Speaker
turning towards your allosaurus these are on kamikaze mode and they're just trying to take what now looks like the biggest threat with them so a large chunk portion of these now are turning towards you and your allosaurus excellent yeah not a problem um i don't think i would have seen anything happening up with the big guy i don't think i would have seen a kaburra go down or be in a bit of a state um so what i'll do instead is i will uh again
00:46:54
Speaker
kind of say down to the Allosaurus beneath me, Estrach, you've got to take him out. And I want to try and kind of... I want to fucking flintstone it. I want to try and slide down its back, down its tail to get off it. Yeah, by now, by now. Do you want to make an acrobatics check? I most certainly do. I think it's going to be terrible. Oh, I hope not. Oh, shit, 21. Yes! You manage it.
00:47:24
Speaker
as you gracefully slide down this creature. You're going to... On your butt or on your feet? On my feet. On my feet, looking fly as fuck. Yes! Of course. There's a little lip in the tail, so you just literally have a little, like, elevate into the air as you land on the floor. Flip, you flip, flip. Do a flip. Oh, well, fuck it. Yeah, I'll try and do a flip. Well, there's only one on acrobatic, sure. You can do a flip. Oh, yeah. A bad flip. And I'll just say, chunga wunga doo, on the way down.
00:48:00
Speaker
As I do that, if they're all kind of encroaching on, I'd like to use a first level spell for entangle. And basically just the, if there are, you want to be encroaching on the area, I just want to get as many as I can in this kind of entangles. Oh wait, no, shit, no, I can't, because it's concentration. Completely ignore that. Nevermind. The forest will disappear. Exactly. Definitely not doing that. In which case, I am going to
00:48:19
Speaker
It's okay, we're not breaching any trademark rules, that's fine.
00:48:29
Speaker
I'm going to go ahead and use my bonus action to just bean off another starry form Archie thing, which is a 21 to hit whatever one's near me. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. You see a couple more starting to now that they're looking at the other source, but then all of a sudden that hits. I'm going to say just for expediency.
00:48:50
Speaker
because they have five hit points that unless you roll turns i've got a plus five to hit so so long as you hit it as in a plus five to damage so this one this one disappears as well amazing and yeah i mean because i can't see the guy lying down and action wise it's tricky unless i do a guiding bolt i'm gonna spunk a guiding bolt um which is a 27 to hit
00:49:13
Speaker
Yep, he's prone, so do you need to roll that with disadvantage? Not on the big guy, no, not on the big guy, I'm doing this on one of the... Okay, yep, yep, so another one appears to be approaching the Allosaurus, you're just able to fire a guiding bolt at it, yep, go for it. Yeah, it's bullshit damage, but it's seven, I think... Still dead, five hit points, yeah, and I'm... Just gets hit and his neck snaps and falls to the floor. Amazing, Chungus is just going hell for leather and trying to defend as many as possible, his priorities would probably be on civilians just trying to help where he can, yep.
00:49:42
Speaker
Yeah, and as as they start to dissipate, you can now see there are quite a few wounded and injured and suffering. And like I said, a few people just now starting to in shock, like try and shake back to life, departed loved ones. And yeah, this this is a missile, this chaos becoming a tragic scene quite quickly. Okay, it's the monster's turn. It's going to
00:50:06
Speaker
lash out at the creature that's last hurt it and hurt it quite badly, which is the direwolf. So this first hand is going to come flashing out towards you, Kratz. For A... It's currently prone. Is he still up? No, this one's just going to lash out. I'll let you know when it's up. For now, it's just going to lash a hand out towards you in rage. At disadvantage. It is at disadvantage and it rolled A 10 to hit. That misses! It then rises.
00:50:34
Speaker
and screams at you. And I think as it does that, a sentinel attack is coming. It is indeed, my man. 23 to hit. Yes. Just to warn you, holding an action uses your reaction. If you do this, your reaction will be gone and you won't unleash a breath weapon. That wasn't my plan. Both holding an action on its release uses your reaction. Yeah, use the reaction. Okay.
00:51:02
Speaker
Thank you. No, ignore me. We can't do it, man. He can. He can. He's not done the sentinel. He's not done sentinel, so. But I'm waiting on Drago. That's what I mean. Okay. It's then going to rise and lash out again at Kratz. As Kratz has just hurt it quite badly. That's better for a 24 to hit. Yeah, that hit. And it can lace on the poison damage again. So you take four points of piercing damage. Okay.
00:51:38
Speaker
so many times. 20 points of poison damage. Can I just double check? It's ace damage is naff, but once it's a turn. You don't halve the poison damage. You don't halve the poison damage. No, not what I was going to ask. I'm just double checking because I can't actually, poison acid, two different types of damages. It's poison.
00:52:02
Speaker
Yeah, okay, okay You're gonna hear it As this lots of point damage hurts my poor little direwolf Chungus will remember that Fucking crap to borrow remember that motherfuckers. I
00:52:32
Speaker
And Darren's just reading up on legendary actions, uh, listeners, just so you know. Are you still in dire war form? Has it knocked you out of that? No, no, I'm not. Uh, I'm not knocking out yet. Okay. Still stood. I'm still in dire war form. Yeah. Very bloody. Absolute lashing of damage. Um, no, it can't do that this term. That's a shame. Okay. Um, yeah, that's, it's turned done. It's Drago. It's your turn.
00:53:03
Speaker
full focus half a glance towards Syengar and a there's too many around us and then with hands on the the great axe we'll slice down on that motherfucker for a big old hit with advantage you've got three attacks so the first one's coming in at 21 yeah that hits

Victory and City Devastation

00:53:33
Speaker
And as Drago, with a glint in his eye, as he knows, he knows he's going to hit, the axe almost warps as all of a sudden it's imbued with some divine smite. And as it comes down, that's what Drago's going to cast on top of the weapon, divine smite, as he sees this radiant damage kind of thing. Nice. I assume at first level, because you would have to use Tekken level to cast. Yeah, yeah, it's first level, first level, first level.
00:54:02
Speaker
Burn in my slots like anything. Yep, that's what you do with paladin is you burn them on smiting. So that's eight slashing and three points of radiant damage.
00:54:15
Speaker
Okay, yep, it takes that, it recoils that as the radiant energy hits it, it is still upright. What do you want to do next? So as the axe comes down, Drago is just going to quickly turn his hands on the opposite direction, place the blade back up and then across the same plane of field, just slice back up. Yep.
00:54:36
Speaker
for a... Oh, I've still got advantage, so... Do I have advantage on each? Yeah, I do. Yeah, you're still fine. 22 to hit. That hits.
00:54:48
Speaker
And that's nine points of slashing damage. And again, he's going to, as it curves up and almost the air is still hurting from the last divine smite and the radiant damage is still in the air palpable. There's another flash of divine smite. Did I say about the slashing damage? You've done the flashing. We need the radiant now.
00:55:15
Speaker
12 points of radiant damage. Yeah. 12? 12 points of radiant damage. Seems an appropriate way to say this. How do you want to do this? Yes! Yeah buddy!
00:55:27
Speaker
So as the first one comes down and slashes across him, his tentacles are just shaved off him, and then as Drago notices this opening across his neck on the second hit, and he just closes his eyes for a brief fraction as the blade goes up to a communion with Akiva, who gives him that extra added strength needed, and boom, as he slices through the neck.
00:55:52
Speaker
blood and whatever sinew comes out as his neck falls away and there's drago just in the glory of battle again okay tasty lovely this creature does just completely dissipate and falls down at your feet
00:56:12
Speaker
I'm going to, for all intents and purposes, bring it out of initiative here as the fighting seems to start to dissipate. What you will notice is that now what happens is that all of the large drakes land within the city walls and start to help you, Chungus, and you, McBenna, who would be around just being able to pick off any stragglers that aren't still around.
00:56:34
Speaker
And what happens is that the large golden drake just takes her forward and starts to move, prowling back up towards the hill. It takes in the bloodied. And unfortunately, because of the size of this thing, those of you around Drago, you're all now absolutely covered in sinew, pus and blood as this creature literally exploded and dissipated around you.

Episode Wrap-up and Listener Thanks

00:56:58
Speaker
And what happens is that the presence
00:57:03
Speaker
of this gold shining dragon one on the back of this drake just takes in the surroundings and looks at you all with a look of admiration and respect at this stoic resistance that you have just done to help the city of Dashcalray. It is a moment of respect and the wind that feels quite hollow as you look around.
00:57:30
Speaker
And you see the sheer devastation that has been reaped upon this city to try and get to you and to try and get to Ren. And that's what we're going to leave in for tonight's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. Very nice, Darren Page. Beautiful.
