Hello

Celebrating 50 Episodes

00:00:01
Speaker
everyone and welcome to this very special anniversary episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. On the release of our official 50th episode, we have sent out a piece of our game every single Friday for exactly one year, including one split episode for the Battle of Bleakmore and a Fellowship of the Tavern via so chat with some of the cast.
00:00:20
Speaker
There is now over 55 hours of us idiots out there on the interwebs for your enjoyment.

Silly Opening Lines Compilation

00:00:26
Speaker
We have loved every single minute of it and cannot wait for another year and another 50 episodes of our Adventures in Aerith. And hopefully one day, well hopefully in a year, we'll reach that milestone of 100 continuous episodes. As a special thank you for listening, we have spliced together all our silly opening lines into one useless compilation track. It will play just after this and there is an actual episode in here too, somewhere.
00:00:49
Speaker
As always, thank you so much for listening and making us a part of your everyday week. We appreciate the hell out of you all. Thank you, and enjoy. What's calludo? Isn't that a call calludo? A crit! Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! Elf here. Elf here. Elf th. Not fun. You need a drink. I mean, I've got a rod that I'm gonna flog. God damn tree. Seraka, what did you find? Gold. Piss off.
00:01:21
Speaker
Let's go play a game. Dungeons and Dragons gonna cause pain. Blow it, cheeky. Isn't there some kind of racial undertones in that though?

Critical Decision: City Gates

00:01:43
Speaker
Last week on The Fellowship of the Tabletop.
00:01:47
Speaker
Following the death of Shaeger. Why not? Let's do a fireball. Oh my god! It's close the gates and save the city or leave them open and these things are going to get through before Drago and Elf there. Do you have a wee? I look forward to getting my blade on someone again. What? Well, Lucy and Black Bay. Right. He smiled at me once and he's my friend. Does he know he's your friend? Yes, I've served his family for all my life.
00:02:17
Speaker
He used to come and play with my axe. Hit me, baby, one more time. How do we speak to your master? You have to touch me in some way. But let's just say theoretically, as a drunken bet, we were looking for a map. If one person must die to save millions, then yes. This building from fire. Sion Gar. He was always a black sheep of the family.
00:02:45
Speaker
You have sheep in your family. No! I've already say right now we saw you two throwing bogeys at each other. Akiva told me I've got to be careful because someone we're travelling with is not to be trusted. My safe word spatula. Can you take it on your own if I'll stop? Well no.
00:03:05
Speaker
But I'll certainly get the first hitting. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday. RTM. Happy birthday to you.
00:03:28
Speaker
Very good. Push the book on him and maybe he needs a book. I don't think this is a book. Maybe he's like a fish. He spent too much time out of the book and now he's dying. You deal with magic. What's going on? I don't know. That sounds like the best idea. Push the book on him. Push the book on him. Where did the book jar go? Just to clarify, um, no bagpipes? No bagpipes. My life suggests a classic mind technique and send down a bird to check the air and I'll clap my fingers and- And those birds die.
00:03:56
Speaker
Can your bird see in the dark? Does your bird breathe? I don't know the answer to any of those questions. Right now nothing's working! Welcome to my world! Shut up! Your friend teacups had it! What did you expect? He's gonna put it in anyway just to see if it does anything. I've had dates like that.
00:04:14
Speaker
Damn, Daniel. Making my way downtown. Walking fast. Bases passed and I'm home now. Yep, there we go. Good. Don't be shy. Get it in there. That is fucking brilliant. I don't know if it's going to be rate religious after this. Rate religious? Rate religious, mate. All right, let's go. Let's do some fucking D&D, baby.
00:04:38
Speaker
Is that a go? We've got some chores to do before breakfast. Why don't I suggest that the next time you ask the volunteers, you tell them that you have a habit of blowing them up. Actuate the city. Tell Sally she can wait. Get them behind me wonder wall. My man, woo it. Whenever I hit a nature check, I think of the nature boy and I'm expecting you to go woo!
00:05:04
Speaker
Robin will look at Helena and he will say to her, your mother's dead. What? That's not a very nice thing to say. What are you talking about? It was definitely like whispering.

Mysterious Language and Danger

00:05:16
Speaker
Was it? Was it? Was it? Was it? Was it? What's that language? What else they spoke? We're in danger if we stay here. We need to get into cover now. That's a weird language. Are you going to kill Althea? Absolutely going to bloody try.
00:05:56
Speaker
The afternoon sun lowers down over the mountains of the Skullroad Mountains. The cold air bites at the characters as many of them lie sleeping. Slow breaths in and slow breaths out as the fire crackles.
00:06:15
Speaker
We see the nine foot tall humanoid steeped over the fire, turning its slow black head, skin a dark color stretched over this muscular torso towards an hour still rubbing. The head holds a series of six tiny black horns and thick black hair covering almost all of them. Although the torso is naked, save two small metallic pauldrons, the legs have what seem like ancient armor upon them.
00:06:45
Speaker
all the way down to his bare feet. Across his back is a long and arched greatsword. You can see the way this blade twists and turns and almost seems ethereal in the way it moves. His dark eyes stare at you, Robin.
00:07:02
Speaker
And as you look around, you realize that he has, indeed, frozen some kind of time. He is frozen, folly, opposite you, mid-action, hand in rucksack. He is frozen, entirely, lying near you, who was, until now, snoring quietly. And he's frozen, clawed, who, to be honest, was snoring rather loud. There's a moment of stillness. And out of the corner of the eye, you see this figure appear.
00:07:31
Speaker
and you hear him say the line, you sound like one of the faith, Robin, plane shifter. I have come for your answer. I had hoped that I'd dreamt you. Tell me, Fraystan, what faith is it you think I'm of?
00:07:50
Speaker
I think you are a man who follows his own path. A path of... self-trust, of self-preservation. But this is not your land, Robin Planeshifter. This is not your home, and you will not survive alone. I came to you once, yes, in a dream, with a proposition.
00:08:13
Speaker
You submit your soul to me and I would bring something precious of you from your home. I would bring your sister here. You have had time and in this time you have committed many acts. I have come for your answer. But if you must ask questions, please feel free. I do love the sound of my own voice. You're taller than I remember.
00:08:42
Speaker
and much more impressive, the phrase Stan I remember, well, he was older and a bit more dangly, shall we say. Would you mind? I'm one for familiarity. The Hanging Man, a similar trope which, yes, I have led you through many of your early approaches into this realm of Erith. Of course.
00:09:07
Speaker
And in an instant, this figure, this very still humanoid figure that feels very real just starts to flits and just disappears and is replaced almost within a single frame almost with this image, almost a 2D image hanging there of this hanging man, a red rope around a nondescript human's face. The eyes turn to look at you. Though this figure seems different somehow, Robin, from the ones you've previously seen.
00:09:35
Speaker
It might be its proximity. If you remember, you'd get that close. A screaming would start and a figure would disappear. This figure doesn't do that. The eyes seem more alive somewhat, and they seem to follow you more. Does this please you, then, Robin, plane shifter? The mouth moves as it says this, and it's still the still image of a hanging man slowly moving in a breeze that doesn't exist.
00:10:00
Speaker
You said that I was a man of faith. I have faith in what I see. And I suppose now, phrase Dan, I see you. You spoke to us all once, if you remember. All five of us. Me, Tali, Drago, Shada, and Elphir. Tell me, God of decay and rebirth, how have we done?
00:10:27
Speaker
mouth of the figure, the corners of which twitch upwards, and you can see inside a series of rotting teeth admirably, though there is still much to be done here. Your work with Akiva is slow, your progress lacking, and the blight growing. Your deeds in blackmouth are admirable. Your deeds across Sleepguard is
00:10:57
Speaker
Well, may be seen as admirable, but admirable only gets you so far. Admirable does not hold back the power of the Blight. There is much to be done, and I need the submittance of your soul. What say you, Robin Planeshifter?
00:11:19
Speaker
It would be remiss of me to not point out to you that I'm flattered that out of all of my companions and myself that came from the Sword Coast that you seem to somehow treasure my soul. You seem to have a sight on things beyond the mortal plane. I would ask you where my friend Shader is. The figure continues to sway slightly in the breeze that doesn't exist. The body of Shader lies dust, the soul of which
00:11:48
Speaker
I have seen. He roams from place to place. He is safe. He is continuing. Does that answer your question? After a fashion I suppose it does. He will of course be fully aware by now that we've actually lost one more of the fellowship that's set out from the Sword Coast. And I'm rather desperate to reacquaint with that one. Where is he?
00:12:18
Speaker
Now, Robin, if I give you all the answers, where's the fun in the chase? Do you really want to know where your Elphir is? Not my Elphir. He's closer than you think, and the figure grins. This ability to change form, I assume it's something that you can do with ease.
00:12:39
Speaker
With ease, absolutely. And with that, you hear a click, and he switches back into the previous form with the obsidian black skin, dark, almost covered in almost a tarry color almost, with the sword on his back and the line of spikes upon his head. And he's sat by the fire, and he reaches two of his hands out to warm them by the fire. The fire at which point now isn't moving either. It's totally frozen in time.
00:13:08
Speaker
And he just reaches his hands out to fakewarm them by the fire. There is of course one other question that comes from that. Five you brought through. One dead. One betraying your cause. Not necessarily going perhaps the way you thought it would. Is that fair to say? Robin if only you could see as far ahead and as far back as I can. This is going exactly to plan. More so than I could ever hope really.
00:13:34
Speaker
Yes, you may have lost one of your members, but now he is with me. He is with me in my ranks. So, it may be a mortal loss, but these things have a way of coming round. Such an interesting and eclectic group you seem to have accumulated over this time, Robin Planeshifter. Your family you've created here seems remiss.
00:14:00
Speaker
of the family you created back on the Sword Coast. You seem to have most of the elements intact, really, the doting family member, the young Tali here, the betrayal of someone close to you, and those that follow you without question." He gestures around to the group. But this one, and he looks towards Folly, who is still mid-action, frozen in time.
00:14:29
Speaker
I never saw the intrigue or the interest. He may pose masses of power when it comes to this stock magic that this realm seems to hold, but aside from that, he always seemed to... ...erk me. What is it about him, Robin Plainshifter, that makes him so interesting that he may join your ranks? On to Neity. He's as likely to set us on fire as he is the enemy, but...
00:14:59
Speaker
He might just be the most honest of all of us. And, well, I don't believe you choose to willingly tie yourself to us without having a part to play. You talked about Bleakmore and the achievements that happened there. How quickly do you think the city would have been came overrun without that wall of fire? Seconds. Absolutely seconds.
00:15:24
Speaker
He is quite a force for someone of so small stature, but I hope that my size and stature doesn't underwhelm my ability and what I am capable of doing, Robin, and must have your answer sooner rather than later. All in time.
00:15:44
Speaker
all in time I promise you that I think I'm starting to trust that you are what you say you are but then we have a problem you see because trust and faith aren't necessarily the same thing as someone very wise once said to me Drago makes sense I understand why he's here he's more powerful than any sword wielder that I've ever met and well
00:16:10
Speaker
I'd like to believe that I'm here because, well, I have a part to play too. And then of course that leaves, as you've just said, and Robin gestures to Talia asleep at his foot. Talia. And I assume that she is here for a reason as well. He pulls the sword off his back, and this blade is as large if not larger than the sword that Drago wields. He pulls it out with ease, with deference, and he turns the blaze over in his hand. You were once told, Robin,

Robin's Faith and Rejection

00:16:40
Speaker
that someone within the party would betray you. What if I was to tell you that it was never going to be Elphir? What if I was to tell you that, at some point, young Tali here would be that person to turn on the group and betray you all? How likely would you be to believe me? Well now, here we are again, back in the philosophical debate about trust and faith.
00:17:10
Speaker
And it's an interesting thing you say, God of death and rebirth, that perhaps Talia could be the one to betray us. But you have an issue there. I've believed everything you've set up to this point until now.
00:17:24
Speaker
And it's an interesting thing when I think about what it is you've offered me. Ella Ren as you call her. Understand me when I say this. No human being on this earth, nothing, no power in this world or any other means more to me than her. It's a funny thing to know as a human to a half elf sister that she will be on this world.
00:17:48
Speaker
long before you and I'd always, I don't know, I guess when the family went its separate ways I knew me and her had to do that because we couldn't be together forever and now you stand here before me to say that you can bring her back to me and I thought about how much I want that more than anything
00:18:09
Speaker
And so here we are. And here we are. I trust that you're powerful. I trust the words that come out of your mouth. But when it comes to betrayal, I was wrong about Belprex. And I was wrong about Elphir. But you asked me of what faith am I in? Look around this campfire, my friend. I'm of the faith of the people I surround myself with. And I'm hoping that the third time is a charm. I reject your offer.
00:18:40
Speaker
The face shifts slightly, turns from one of geniality and warmth to one of coldness and stern expression. Hit the second person to have made that mistake for having been a plane shifter. If only you had been more genial like your comrade, Althea, and submitted to my will.
00:19:06
Speaker
things would have been very very different for you. I can assure you of that. And then very quickly the form stands and wipes what you assume to be its eyes as now these what seem to be pupils before now have dilated through to just pure black eyes the sword gets put back on the back of this creature as it stands up and flexes you realize the size this would dwarf even Drago and he seemed to fill the hut in where he stands.
00:19:37
Speaker
I see you're too smart for tricks for a plane shifter. I am not Threestan. I'm glad not to be that ridiculous, useless demigod. And I still find it hilarious that Akiva is even a real entity on this planet still, on this plane, in this universe, and he's gesturing over towards Claude at this point.
00:20:03
Speaker
and that he has these dim-witted followers who choose to follow him into the depths of hell if they'd be so lucky to join me there. He will see me again, Robin Plainshifter. But know this. I may have lied about my name. I never lied about my power. And I never lied about Althea or Tali.
00:20:26
Speaker
He stands up and steps over the fire, which starts to burn and starts to move. But just the fire, nothing else seems to move at that point. He steps over Kennard, who's lying on the other side. He does not change. He doesn't move, though. He starts to shudder slightly before staying totally still again. He steps through the outside of the hut and passes through that barrier with ease. Bear in mind, this is a barrier that should stop anyone except those within the group. He has passed through that and walked towards the break in the mountains, break in the quarry.
00:20:57
Speaker
As he's going, Robin will just shout out to him, wait. The figure stops and doesn't fully turn around, but the head turns to the side to acknowledge what you want to say.

Dark Threat and Sinister Presence

00:21:08
Speaker
I've never killed a demigod before. Threatened that girl, or indeed anyone else I travel with, and well, first time for everything. He fully turns around at that. If you killed me, you wouldn't be killing a demigod.
00:21:23
Speaker
It turns back around and takes a few more steps away and he reaches the edge. If you remember where you were, you're in a small kind of alcove where the hut has been built and the path moves to the right and to the left. You came from the path on the right, you were going to the path on the left and in front of you is just
00:21:40
Speaker
the abyss, nothing, just a big break in the mountains and a cliff face. He gets to the edge and stops for a second. His back flexes up and his hands and arms tense as the energy is released. He steps to the side and where he was, a figure forms. And this figure formed, it seems to be the back of Ren. You recognize the hair, you recognize the back, you recognize the posture and the way that holds himself, she holds herself.
00:22:08
Speaker
you see it take a breath start to move she doesn't turn around and with a single hand he reaches out to the side of her with his hand around her shoulder almost looks back at you bear in mind he can't see through this technically because it is a magical war but he looks directly at you Robin
00:22:26
Speaker
looks, smiles and just pushes her off the edge and she falls and you hear this scream which you know would be that of someone like your sister. He turns to walk along the path but as he does he slowly dissipates out of shots before he would disappear around the corner he dissipates out of view and out of the other side where you previously came steps a dark figure. This dark figure stands at a six foot tall
00:22:55
Speaker
A long black and green cloak and two purple eyes glare out towards you. This is the figure of Elphir, or what you assume is Elphir standing. He takes two steps forward and stands facing you, waiting patiently. What do you want to do? Robin, upon seeing this creature push Ren Elio off the cliff, is going to start running in that direction. And as soon as Elphir appears,
00:23:24
Speaker
The adrenaline and the fear and the anxiety of hearing his sister scream is going to stop. And he's going to become quite rigid. Turns out I was smarter than you all along. You can't see the mouth of Elthea. You can just see the hood gleaming in the low afternoon sun, hiding and masking his face. The two purple eyes seem to glare right towards you. His voice very different from what had previously had been.
00:23:51
Speaker
You can hear similarities between now this voice of Althea and the voice of whatever this figure was that had appeared to you posing as Freestand. You have no idea the power on which I now wield, Robin. He should have taken him up on his offer. And now the end must come much sooner for you than was anticipated. Where is your bow? Don't need a bow to kill you, my friend. The blade had your name on it all along.
00:24:19
Speaker
I hate to disappoint you, and I'll draw Ghostbone. Lovely. Awesome. We're going to pause there because we're about to go into initiative. Callum, are you there? I have returned. Hello. So this is, I'll just, we'll pick you up because we're going to kind of pan out, just as that happens, I'll pause and then we'll pan back into the hut. And this is what's just been happening to you. So you've just been having a really regular conversation with Robin, quite a nice,
00:24:43
Speaker
touching conversation with Robin and in an instant he's disappeared. The fire feels cold but the fire is still burning.
00:24:52
Speaker
and you look to your left, so out towards the entrance where you got, you came into the small alcove where the hut is. Again, you can see through the wall because it's the magical spell, the miniature hut, you can see Robin standing with his blade drawn and a figure with a black hood with purple eyes staring out. And you can see now from a distance, his fists down by his side, you can see this slow twist of purple smoke that seems to enshry both his wrists and both his arms, sorry, both his fists.
00:25:22
Speaker
And from what you'd previously been told about, what Elthir has become, this seems to be him. But another thing which has happened, which is the reason why you've suddenly come out of this. If you look around, everyone is still absolutely frozen still in time. They're not dead. Everything is frozen still. The fire is moving. Nothing else is moving. Nothing else whatsoever, okay?
00:25:45
Speaker
but you realize what has kind of woken you out of this is the fact that something in your rucksack is vibrating and rumbling and like shaking around so violently that it's literally kind of hit you on the back of the head and kind of literally woken you up out of this stupor. So imagine like an alarm that catches you in REM sleep and you really like, oh, what the hell's going on? It's kind of like that, but you look around and everything else is still frozen. Something has woken you up from within your backpack. Okay. What do you want to do?
00:26:14
Speaker
Folly would obviously come to... He would give a quick glance around because obviously the scene that he was looking at beforehand has indeed changed now. He would turn, he would see Robin with sword drawn.
00:26:33
Speaker
and obviously this person facing him who's glowing purple and this purple aura engulfing his fist and literally without a second thought Folly just sees his comrade almost on the brisk of battle he would be dropping his quarterstaff, pointing his direction and emulating the fire that this guy is giving off he would create his own little fire just at the end of the quarterstaff just to be like
00:26:58
Speaker
if we're going to start something I'm ready to go. Are you still in the hut or have you stepped over the boundary of the hut and kind of outside the boundary now? We were outside the hut anyway at this point so I haven't, me and Polly and Robin I think were on the outskirts of this hut anyway taking the guard so I would have been outside the hut regardless and I would have just turned to face this gentleman Robin.
00:27:25
Speaker
gotcha and as you do you see the figure look and take in what Robin has just done and then turn and catch your eye as well and then as the hood moves back slightly you do see the well-remembered face of Althea the skin slightly paler scarred with black marks etched across his cheeks his eyes deep purple lacking pupil lacking iris his
00:27:55
Speaker
Once Kai and Elvin features have now been slightly warped and changed to represent something different. Something inhumane, in immortal. Not immortal, but un-mortal, so to speak. Something's not right here. And on that, can we please roll initiative? Did anyone get 20 plus? No. 15 to 20? Yes. 16.
00:28:24
Speaker
Lovely and then it's going to be Robin after that. Did you get Robin? Still not bad though, but competitive but not compared to Elfie's. Absolutely. As we stand there you can see the cold breath coming out of Elfie's mouth.
00:28:41
Speaker
And you can see the cold breath of each of you as this very cold evening slowly draws in. You notice shadows start to form around the mountains that start to form in some of the crags and crevices around the space as the sun continues to lower.
00:28:55
Speaker
He steps in an instant, moving at an unholy pace towards you, Robin. And it's literally straight in front of you, as quick as you can imagine, really. And suddenly he's wielding his right fist, wreathed in shadow towards you. And he's going to roll to attack. That's an 11 against your armor class, which I assume he's going to miss. And a 28 against your armor class. Yeah, that one will hit.
00:29:18
Speaker
So that first hit, that unarmed strike he's going to do against you is going to do 12 points of magical bludgeoning damage, which I remember Will loving to say over and over again, magical bludgeoning damage. 12 points of magical bludgeoning damage. And then he's going to spend a Kai point and use Flurry of Blows.
00:29:35
Speaker
And to hit you with that, he's going to roll an actual one. So he's going to miss that hit. So the first hit misses wildly over. He comes in with the left jab, and he catches you square in the chest. And he comes in for a series of quick punches, but you've managed to back off slightly away from the shot, missing those. Folly, you've just seen Elfia lunge a couple of shots. Sorry, Mark, before you carry on. Apologies. I always do it to Ian, so I better do it to myself. Flurry of Blows gives you two extra attacks. Oh, shit. Thank you. I'm still learning how to play an asshole. Yeah, too honest. Yeah.
00:30:05
Speaker
Does it? How brilliant. Yeah, Flurry of Blazies 2, I think. It's got to be unarmed. He can't use his quarterstaff or weapons or anything. I think they've got to be fun kicks, but...
00:30:13
Speaker
I think he gets two. The gods were with you and not the gods you don't like. That's an actual one again. So that's two natural ones in a row. Not even kidding, natural one again. So both these floating blows, you can feel the energy pulsing up. And Robin, you remember what he used to do at this point. He always used to attack, never used to defend, always used to attack. And you know these additional hits are going to come in and he managed to parry them, but they come with an unholy speed. They come with an unholy speed, but you managed to parry them away.
00:30:38
Speaker
uh folly you've just seen four attacks made against robin what do you want to do i do wonder if the dm might permit me just a slight uh like bonus action um the particular item that we picked up in the town that we was just at basically folly would have put them in a bag by his wayside it's like on a drawstring so he basically pulls the drawstring and they drop on the floor so it's literally like a very quick
00:31:04
Speaker
movement. Would you permit me to do that as a bonus action? I'll give you that as a bonus action, yeah. Oh, you are damned. I had to make an argument for it. In that case, yeah, Folly instead would actually, even though it's quarter-self, is drawn,
00:31:20
Speaker
with his left hand reach down to the side of his pocket pull away this drawstring almost like dramatic western style gun drawing and as he does a bundle of cow drops basically fall onto the ground Folly is going to most certainly cast animate objects on all these lovely cow drops that have just fallen on the ground Brilliant
00:31:45
Speaker
So you can hold up to nine, is that right? If it's tiny, I can hold up to ten? Yeah, I can hold up to ten. I bought twenty when I was back in the town, so I do have two bags, but there's only one that's actually attached to them at the moment. So all ten of these countrops are currently animated, and as normal, they kind of come to life slowly, almost like, shaking on the ground and then jump up, and then they start
00:32:12
Speaker
encircling folly almost like a wall of defense with these things just ready to kind of fling off at his command amazing cool is that your action then that is my action and my donation lovely uh that's really cool i like that um awesome so uh do you want to do any movement or anything
00:32:29
Speaker
Basically, he's basically going to try and move himself as close to Robin as he can. He understands how dangerous Elfia can be, so if possible he's just going to try and circle behind the back of Elfia, not just to give Robin an advantage, but to be a distraction for Elfia, because even Folly knows, two people attacking from either side are going to be very difficult to defend against. Okay, so you're going to Elfia's back.
00:32:55
Speaker
Yeah, I'm going to try and get behind him, basically. Yeah, no problem. They're about 25 feet away from you, so you can move at a decent diagonal position so you can kind of flank, you know, flanking from a distance there. So you've got Robin and Elphie in very close proximity now, because Elphie had closed the gap, and then you've kind of circled around a bit, so you're kind of looking at Elphie's back with Robin kind of hidden behind him, so to speak. Yeah. Cool. Lovely. Brilliant. Robin, over to you. You've just been attacked by an old enemy and an old friend.
00:33:24
Speaker
Okay Robin is going to see Elfie glance over his shoulder at Folly and he's just going to just wipe the blood off his face from the crap jaw where he's just taken it and he's going to just say glance over and see Folly himself turn back to Elfie and say
00:33:41
Speaker
Well, I do recall he did promise to kill you. And then I'm going to take two quick swings at Elfyr with Ghostbone. Lovely. Roll to hit, please. How long have you wanted to say that, Darren? I take two quick swings at Elfyr. A long time. I think he's slightly aroused now. The first one's only a 16 to hit.
00:34:02
Speaker
that misses he moves out the way and you can see where he was standing a bit of like shroud where his like figure was and then he moves back into the space if I'm flanking him does he actually get advantage no you know I said you were flanking but I didn't put you I'm not directly behind him okay yeah you've you're kind of at a distance behind him so kind of in a way you're flanking but you're not behind him but not directly correct okay that first one missed unfortunately Darren
00:34:28
Speaker
That's fine. Second one. That's better. That's the 27 to hit. That does definitely hit. There are some damage. Okay. He's not... Elfie doesn't look like he's died in the past since I've fought him, does he? You can see as much as I explained earlier, so I wouldn't be able to say otherwise. I do understand how Ghost Bomb works. If it is the case, I will deal with that. You're asking for all the damage. You're asking for all the damage. Yeah. Okay.
00:34:56
Speaker
Elphir will take 16 points of slashing damage rather as Ghostbane just shuts across his face.
00:35:05
Speaker
absolutely as the blade comes across his face, he seems to have ditched out of the first one, come back in, but you almost preempted that he'd move out of that first hit, and you've managed to catch him on the second, causing quite a bit of damage to him, and he winces away, but quickly comes back to the fold. It's Elphir's turn, top of the line. Sorry, I've not finished. Apologies. Bonus action. Robin is going to take the disengage action.
00:35:28
Speaker
And he's just going to step away from Elf here, expecting a quick recourse. His shield is going to come up, and the sword is going to come over the top of the shield. Okay, nice. So you're shielded up now. Amazing, lovely, great stuff. So, um, Elder's going to see this, and just a slow smile reaches up over his face, and you can see his mouth now as the sun lowers down, shining light onto the side of his face.
00:35:55
Speaker
Oh, sorry, Mac. I only took... No, I missed the first one, didn't I? You missed the first one, yeah, that's all right. And you see the sun shining and bouncing off his now slightly galvanised and whitened face, looking slightly different to what you remember him. His eyes flick over towards Folly for a second and sees what's happening above him. And the smile stretches wider. He turns to you and just says,
00:36:22
Speaker
Flee. He's going to use the spell command, the first level spell command. Flee, can you make a wisdom saving throw please? Three. Okie dokie. He has now cast basically a form of
00:36:37
Speaker
I don't know what it is, but it's command. Basically, it's one-word command, and you have to now follow that command, and the command is a single word, and he said the word flee to you. So now you have to spend your turn moving away from Elfia at the fastest possible means, which are basically a straight line, using all your movement to move away from him the fastest possible way, okay?
00:36:57
Speaker
okay do i get an opportunity to break that when it is my turn or is it it only lasts i believe it only lasts one turn yeah duration one round so at the end of that round you do one turn is worth of fleeing and then it just ends naturally anyway okay
00:37:13
Speaker
Okay, but unfortunately, because you failed the Wisdom saving throw, that was your chance to save out of that. Okay. And so that was his first action. He's then going to use a second action to... Well, sorry, he gets a spell action. His next action is to attack Robin. He's going to step forward, and he's going to attack you again. He's going to firstly hit you with his fist, surprisingly, for L3. Can you imagine? He's going to roll, and he's going to get a 19 against your armor class.
00:37:44
Speaker
Defensive duelist, Robin's shield comes up and the sword just flashes away. Defensive duelist allows me to add proficiency at the expense of my reaction to my AC. So Robin's AC went from 19 to 23, so that misses. Amazing, and he's going to take a second hit against you. His fist comes in, you better parry it around. He's going to come with the elbow back to the face to try and hit you there, and he's going to rock. Oh, he's rolled in well, 27. Yeah, that hits. Okay. And you're going to take...
00:38:13
Speaker
10 points of magical bludgeoning damage and he's going to pop on stunning strike to that. Can you make a con saving throw please, Darren? Can I spend a luck point on that? Of course you can, yeah yeah. What'd you roll? Natural one.
00:38:29
Speaker
natural 20. Oh my lord. Yeah, absolutely. So 27 total because Robin's proficient in comms age. So you can you can see the angle of which the second elbow comes. He's aiming through your throat pretty much. He's aiming for the side of your throat to kind of paralyze you. You've seen him do this multiple times before and you can't stop the shot coming in but you managed to twist your neck over just at the last minute. It parries off your off your jaw pretty much and just misses that really, you know, accessible but very delicate area of your neck where he would have
00:38:58
Speaker
aimed to astun you and taking that damage. That is Elphir's turn. Folly, over to you. You have to use your movement to move as far as you can away from Elphir to start off with. As my first part of the movement, that's what I have to do. Yeah, you have to use all your movement. Okay, Folly is going to just... Well, can he be resistive to it or does he have to actually run just with it being command of flee?
00:39:26
Speaker
It has basically it's the wordings fully, but it acts like being frightened, which is just you, all intents and purposes run away for the whole distance you can. So it can be, if you can move 30, you run 30, but then you can always do something off the back of it. Doesn't mean you don't, you can't attack, you just can't move towards it. So for example, if I did Drago, it would bugger him because you can't attack, but you will be able to fire spells backwards, that's fine.
00:39:52
Speaker
Yeah, okay. Folly is indeed going to run away, just as quickly as he can, 25 feet, essentially away from Elphir. Son of a bitch. I'm just double-checking something. I have a problem. Cool. He's going to have the foresight, however, because he's the one that's got to flee. The cow-trops don't come with him.
00:40:19
Speaker
they stay stationary where they are it's only follow that's still moving away he's trying to resist it but yeah he's still kind of frightened got that under a spell so he's running with a little bit of um gate um but he can still attack you say yes yes he can absolutely okay um as a bonus action then i can command my cow drops to attack elfia um keep them there throw that
00:40:49
Speaker
that is oh that's nasty that's a 13 to hit uh that misses unfortunately so the first are you doing them one at a time uh no i'll do them all in one fell swoop it's how i'd prefer to do it anyway so they will just be circling there and just as he kind of gets to the end obviously the spell's slightly wearing off but not quite there it's almost like he turns with his quarter staff to uh command them to go at it but because he's still in this state of fear
00:41:12
Speaker
I think they kind of just slide slightly off to the side of them Instead and just fly straight past them and then kind of come back to the origin point Yeah, you're just missing him out the way there and I'm unfortunately doing no damage there Is there anything else you want to do you got anything else you can yeah, I'm gonna attack with fire bolt as well So with that the end of all the scored stuff is gonna start to rage with a little bit of fire 25 to hit
00:41:41
Speaker
That definitely does it, yes. Thank God for that. Is that up to 3D10 yet, Callum? It most certainly is now. It's only just got up to 3D10, but as these firebolts start to fly out from his quarterstaff, they seem a little bit weaker just because he's still in this weird mental state, but they do indeed hit, and he takes 11 points of fire damage. Lovely.
00:42:10
Speaker
And that will be everything that Folly can do. And it's three firebolts. It's three firebolts. So literally, as soon as the cow drops come back, these firebolts will go straight from the end of his quarterstaff. Nice. And they hit both his shoulders and the center of his chest as it pushes him back slightly, stumbles slightly, but then again is moving quite fervently forward off the back of that. Thank you very much, Folly. Robin, your turn.
00:42:36
Speaker
Robin is going to see this flame brash into Elphir and the stunning strike, what would have stunned him, the necklace from Ren and Ella, his sister, that has been tied to this ethereal luck that he has, has just started to fall out of his shirt. He picks it back up and kisses it and tucks it back in his shirt before charging at Elphir and having two more swings at him. Okay, roll to hit. First one's a 24 to hit. That hits. Okay, Elphir takes.
00:43:05
Speaker
18 points of slashing damage. And can he make a strength saving throw, please? The DC on that is 17. Sorry, I haven't used that for a while. It's 17. That's OK. He rolled a 15 and has a plus six, which is 21. So he passes. So he doesn't move. Did you try to push him back? I've tried to trip him up. Yeah. OK, so he manages to almost step up and give you a slight smile as you try to do something that he normally would do. Misses that, but does take the damage.
00:43:35
Speaker
He also takes 5 points of force damage, he still takes the damage. Lovely, and yep, he takes that damage. Lovely. Second swing. Okay, go for it. Natural one. Oh, got your luck points, can you use them? I'll save them for when I need them. Fair enough, I like the... We have only just had the long rest. That's a very good point, very good point.
00:43:58
Speaker
and okay lovely so that one misses that hit misses obviously and because I because you've chosen to not use the luck I won't make you roll to see if you kill yourself or hate yourself that's not fair so that's the end of your turn robin top of the round it's elf ears turn which I hate I hate that I have to say that sounds dirty I know it does so what he's going to do first of all he's going to turn to you folly
00:44:23
Speaker
and he's going to, from his right hand, his fist opens up and the ball moves, a black shadow moves into the middle of his hand and he pushes his hand out, a large orb falls out of his hand and moves at incredible pace towards you. He's used Eldritch Blast and he is, that's a 20 to hit. Oh, that hits. Unnatural, unnatural. So,
00:44:50
Speaker
That's 12 points of necrotic. I'll just blast the fourth damage, not necrotic. Fourth damage, thank you. Beautiful. So, Folly, you take 11 points, sorry, 12 points of necrotic. I said it again. Fourth damage as this beam of energy pushes into you. And that's the first bit he is going to do. He's then going to turn back to you, Robin, and he is going to take another swing at you. He's going to take another swing at you. And that is going to be a 21 against your armor class.
00:45:20
Speaker
defensive duelist i'll use my reaction again to block it i love that already okie dokie he rolls to hit you and this one he rolls a 19 so that's gonna be 28 against your armor class robin it okie dokie so for that two ones for fucks sake uh take two points of damage but he is also again going to use stunning strike could you roll a con saving throw please
00:45:47
Speaker
Uh, I'm going to have to spend another luck point on that. I roll before. Oh, let's do second one. Okay. That might not do much better. Um, 16.
00:45:58
Speaker
I'm going to... OK, never mind. Oh, I spoke to you soon. I shall let you. I shall let you. Yeah, meet the beat. So you pass the save of the stunning strike again. And that's the end of Elthir's turn. He looks a bit exacerbated, a bit annoyed at this, and you can see him start to... the anger and rage start to build in him. Folly, your turn. Lovely. Folly now come out of his moment of flea, fear.
00:46:27
Speaker
thing just at the end of his last turn as he made the attack so now he is severely angry so he is going to start making his way back to Elphir to the... he's not even going to rush it he's literally going to be just a normal walking pace but walking with sort of determination in his eyes and as he does he's going to say Elphir you've already had my words reiterated to you by Robin and let me assure you
00:46:56
Speaker
I am a man of my word. And he is going to roll to attack firstly with the cow chop. Okay, roll to hit. That is a 17 to hit. Meets, it beats. Wait, are these, hang on a minute, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on. Are these missiles? No, they're cow drops. They are technically, if I read you the description,
00:47:22
Speaker
Do they count as a... Is it a ranged weapon attack? They count as a creature. Oh, you lucky bastard, you get around it. Okay, yep, fair enough. Lovely. Are you going to kill Althea? Absolutely going to bloody try. Okay, so that was 64 points of piercing damage. And then he's going to immediately follow it up as these cowrops just whoosh straight through him almost.
00:47:49
Speaker
kind of just whacking every possible limb that they absolutely can he's going to follow it up with uh the firebolt as well okay roll to hit that oh that's only a 13 and that misses unfortunately and because of the rage that overcome overcame you in that moment the caltrops attacking him viciously tearing away his skin the hood of the back on his head being flung back revealing now a bold head
00:48:16
Speaker
of, again, more of these black scars that seem to etch themselves up from the back of his neck. His skin on the arms and on the legs and the torso seem to become more and more open and aware as you start to cut through his clothing, cut through his cloak of elven kind, as he screams, starts to utter out, you've never heard Elthea scream before. The fireball desperately fired overhead as he kind of falls to his knees. Top of the round, Elthea.
00:48:44
Speaker
He's on his knees. I haven't been. Oh, sorry. I even pointed at Robin and said top of the round. Apologies. Robin, your turn. Elthea has just kind of slumped down onto his knees. That spell is amazing, by the way. How many times can you do that? Well, in all fairness, at the moment on my current level, I can cast the spell three times. But the actual animate objects, I get to control them for a minute.
00:49:11
Speaker
with them the fleeing of broken concentration on them.
00:49:16
Speaker
it says nothing about the loss of concentration although we should have rolled for con at the eldritch blast i've just realized yes yes you should have calum you need to remind me of these things my lord this is why i need will yeah this is why you need will he'd always try and screw you over no um don't worry about it we'll consider it's my it's my fault if i don't bring it up and you know yeah your fault i'm fine you should remember you should remember it as well it's your character but no it's fair enough um but i guess that's the folly hey the folly of that that spell is you get one roll for it and concentration breaks it
00:49:45
Speaker
It does, but obviously I have control of them for a minute, and anything I tell them to do is all bonus action, so I still get my own moves with it. Exactly. Intense. Anyway, carry on. Robin, your turn. Elphard has just kind of fallen to his knee. Robin is going to, as Elphard tries to turn round back to him, he's just going to bring in the sword today.
00:50:09
Speaker
Swish left hand to right hand, swing, and just cut him square across the chest of the sword. Okay, roll to hit. 23 to hit. That hits. He takes 16 points of slashing damage, and can he make another strength saving process? 22. Yeah, he passes that. So he does take another 3 points of force damage.
00:50:38
Speaker
OK, and as this shot comes across his chest, you hear him again scream out in agony and in anger and in frustration the type of scream the reserved controlled healthier would never usually do. Do you want your second hit? I do. Roll to hit. Oh, that's cocked on a 13. So that is a not so good 12 to hit.
00:51:02
Speaker
that misses but it misses for a very specific reason as he's down in his knees really you should be doing this with advantage really but as you come for the second hit as the hot sword comes down where it would usually hit as your blade comes down and over the head suddenly this black
00:51:22
Speaker
waved blade sticks in from the side, catching your sword and almost effortlessly moving your sword away. Your strength and finesse with the weapon doesn't make a difference. You cannot hold it down as it gets pushed back. And as you step back and look to the side, you see the figure of the dark obsidian skin creature that had been discussing with you that had lied and called himself Thrace Dan. He stands now with his sword drawn
00:51:48
Speaker
and looks over at you. Elphir turns his head up and looks at him. Master, I knew I wasn't strong enough. You haven't given me the powers you promised. Silence, he retorts. You are going to return from where you came, and we are going to have a discussion, Elphir, about your actions here. And Elphir looks up, no, listen, and in an instant, he just disappears in smoke and flame, and nothing is left of Elphir.

Elphir's Removal and Dark Warning

00:52:16
Speaker
This figure turns to you, looks at you both. I don't usually underestimate mortals. I won't make the same mistake again. We will be watching you. Be aware of that. We are always watching.
00:52:36
Speaker
And it takes a deep inhalation of breath and the scream seems to emanate through your body and both of you recognize this. Oh, sorry, Folly doesn't, but Elphie. Sorry, Robin, you recognize this as the similar scream from the dreams. It feels like years ago, back when Shado was alive,
00:52:54
Speaker
where you had the reoccurring nightmare pretty much of a large figure standing over a forest with a black head with horns protruding out and a screaming in your head and in your body and in your soul. A similar scream to that suddenly draws you back to that time in the north of sleep guard with the rain and the oppressive heat and the sea and halia and the boat.
00:53:16
Speaker
all those memories come flooding back and as you kind of shut your eyes to get the scream out and as you look up all you can see is dust and ash falling from where this creature was stood and we end combat round number four there and Elthea is gone this creature is gone Folly you still have your swinging caltrops around nearby Robin you're still there with your sword in hand almost overhead
00:53:44
Speaker
And it's the slowly you realize that what you thought was ash is around you actually is not ash and it's the slow fall of snow. And as you look back to the group, you see the fire continue to crackle and you see an arm stick up from Tali, almost a stretching arm returned back down as she shifts over into position and continues sleeping. And you realize now that time is back to where it should be and you're both outside the hut.
00:54:14
Speaker
though you have gone through an experience that the others have not. What would you like to do? The first thing that Folly might possibly do, he would let his guard down just a little bit, quickly look around and then seeing that he still has command over them, he'd command his cow drops basically come back into his little satchel for himself and then just tie him back up. He'd then look at Robin now with a more relaxed kind of demeanor and just be
00:54:43
Speaker
Is there something you'd quite like to explain to me? You say that like I understand what just happened. Good job with the cow chops, by the way. They're an impressive sortmanship. I think you could put Drago out of business with that. Well, I've never wanted to tell him, and probably best you don't either. No, rest assured, if, erm, yes, might not be best to take away the one thing he's actually good at. Don't tell him I said that. He'll try and kill me again.
00:55:12
Speaker
What the hell is happening to Elf here? I don't know, but... That... thing. It reeked with dark energy. It was horrendous. I don't think I've ever felt anything quite like it. Robin will put his blade away as a serious dawn's across his face, and he'll just look up at Polly and say, we're running out of time to get to beyond his breather. Yes, I think that when the new day dawns, that...
00:55:42
Speaker
We should possibly encourage the people to make haste. I don't think we have time to wait for the dawn. And Robin will begin to turn and make his way back to the camp. Follow you, of course. Follow. Follow on. Yeah, I can't say it now. Folly will follow. That's happening. Robin will just turn back and say, but thank you, Folly. I needed your help there. Folly is just going to look at Robin and be like,
00:56:11
Speaker
Robin, I do quite trust you, and even if you don't quite understand what just happened, clearly you are at the centre of it. I make it a point not to probe around in anyone's personal affairs, but if it's something you do not wish to tell me, you do not need to do so. Rest assured, what's happened
00:56:36
Speaker
this morning, this night, whichever way you prefer to look at it. For now, at the very least, we'll remain our secret. Trust and faith again, I see. Robin says that to himself and he'll chuckle and he'll just look at Folly and say, Dustin. Folly. My real name is Dustin. And he'll begin to walk back towards the camp.
00:57:00
Speaker
and as you walk back towards the camp you get to the precipice of the tiny huts and as you step through out of the cold you realise quite how cold the weather now is as the sun continues to set into the evening and you step into the warmth and you can hear the rumble which seems to follow this as this is formed by
00:57:21
Speaker
By claw, this seems to bring on the energy of Akiva. And you can hear it now stronger than before, seeming to rumble in your ears almost as if Akiva seems to be angered by the events that have taken place or what had just happened here. And as you step through that barrier, the face of Drago, his dragonborn eyes wince in the light as he turns over to look at you. And he looks at you quizzically for a second. And before he gets a chance to speak,
00:57:49
Speaker
That's where we're going to end this super interesting short three person episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. That was so much fun. That was great. Happy, happy fucking 50th episode, guys. That was a good 50th.
00:58:04
Speaker
Yeah. And there you go. There you go. Great work, guys. So thank you. Sorry we didn't have our usual introduction and we haven't got Ian. We haven't got Will. We haven't got Casey. We haven't got Darren. We haven't got Danny. But this was a really good opportunity, I think, to carry that message on and really, really have some real fun with two excellent characters. So thank you very much, you two, for playing ball and going along and improvising along with my bullshit. And that was lots of fun. So thank you very much for that. That was an amazing bullshit.
00:58:34
Speaker
Brilliant. So I'll do Ian's bit as he's not here, obviously. You can follow us on Twitter. We're all available on there and we like to post lots of bants. You can follow us collectively on at fellowship table. You can follow us individually if you so wish. I'm trying to copy Ian's expressions.
00:58:51
Speaker
You can follow Ian at... I rolled a 1. You can follow Will at Natural20Will. You can follow Danny at Total Party Thralls. You can follow Casey at Unicorn Crit. You can follow Darren at... You can follow me at DarrenPage06. And in trying to do my impression of Ian, I went a bit Boris Johnson. You did, you went a bit all over the place, didn't you?
00:59:13
Speaker
You went Prime Ministerial, there you go. You can follow Callum at TheDtoned2Gamer and you can follow our maniacally marvellous DM himself. I'm taking that privilege away from you, you're not introducing yourself. Oh, fantastic DM. A hastily rolled DM. Maniacally marvellous is the best one we've had, does it, in your sense. Until next time guys. Farewell!
