Introduction and Reconnection

00:00:00
Speaker
Hello, listener. My name is Mayari, and this is Magical Coffee Dates. I'm sitting here in the moonbeam tea rooms. I've got a warm mocha with me, a sausage roll, and the owners are really cool. Let me set up my laptop to record these sessions. I'm waiting to meet up with an old friend and hopefully rekindle that friendship, because I moved away from the October region and sort of lost touch with everyone, but it's fine, because I'm back now.
00:00:27
Speaker
Um, I sent out a mailer cat bod to everyone I used to know and set up a few coffee dates. Thankfully, some people replied, and today I have with me.

Reunion with Lula and Life Updates

00:00:41
Speaker
Hi, I'm Lula. I know who you are. I've seen you
00:00:47
Speaker
many a time in the past but welcome welcome how are you I'm really happy you're here I'm so happy you're here I am too I just I'm sorry I didn't think you'd remember me why I mean I mean there couldn't be any reason why I wouldn't remember you I feel like we've made such a big impact on each other's lives and you know so how have you been
00:01:17
Speaker
Um, yeah, I've been really good. Honestly, I've just been living in snowfall. Oh my gosh. Wow. Snowfall is so popular. It's almost unoriginal.
00:01:31
Speaker
I mean, you would say that, though. I would. I've been there recently. So I didn't see you. Oh, I've been I've been great. I've been just great. I've been, you know, just doing my own thing. And now I'm doing this. So that's pretty cool. What have you what are you getting up to in Snowfall? Yeah, I'm just working and, you know, have a husband and, you know, doing all that stuff. Oh.
00:02:01
Speaker
What's that? What's, I mean, it's okay. Um, so what, what is it like, you know, having, having found the happiness that you have?
00:02:18
Speaker
Well, I mean, as you know, I've always been able to find happiness wherever I am, but it's been really great. It's really nice when you can find someone who just completes you, you know? Yeah, I mean, it's not for everyone, but it's good that you found that, you know.
00:02:41
Speaker
I mean, I know that lots of people out there don't need to be with someone to make them happy, but it's good that that's, you know, where the direction went for you. Oh, would you like something to drink?

Memories and Tensions

00:02:53
Speaker
I'm having a mocha. Oh, I would love to. I'll take a cold brew, actually. OK, well, you can go order it if you like. OK.
00:03:04
Speaker
OK, listener, I know that I'm being I might seem like I'm being really weird, but I promise you it's justified. And, you know, oh, wait, they're coming back. Oh, I swear. Service around here. It's great, right? Yeah, I guess if you're into this sort of cozy thing. Well, I think a lot of people in the October region are. Oh, do you live here?
00:03:36
Speaker
I'm from here, actually. Oh, I must have forgot. I grew up here. Hmm. Well, that's I mean, never left. No, I'm actually a well-traveled person. You know, I realized that university just wasn't going to cut it for me. And I thought, you know, it's time to.
00:04:04
Speaker
do other things that, you know, aren't, you know, sticking to the status quo like most people. But, you know, I mean, it's it's nice to have, you know, your place in the world. Yeah, I'm sure you know your place. Listener, I promise this is justified.
00:04:33
Speaker
Um, speaking of university, um, yeah, do you remember that party we were at? Yeah. One time, that one day, that one weekend. Yeah, it was, um, we were both, uh, you know, doing that open weekend at the university in the October region, which, uh, surprised you forgot about, but that's fine. Um,
00:05:02
Speaker
yeah you remember the party so i guess there's just certain things you need to remember yeah i don't know what you mean by that but that's fine of course not um anyway do you remember that guy kyle yes i remember kyle the one with the spike yeah oh my god i saw him the other day with what's her face we used to be friends with her too um
00:05:32
Speaker
Casket? Short for... Short for Casketina? Yes! Wow, I forgot her full name.
00:05:56
Speaker
Yeah, Cascatina, Bargerina. Yeah, I remember her. Yeah, I saw them the other day. I don't think they got a male or cat, did they? Well, I sent it out to a bunch of people and whoever decided to show up has shown up so far. Well, my schedule is clear, so.
00:06:22
Speaker
Okay, not really surprised, but listener, I promise, I promise this is justified. I don't know if we'll get to it today, but we will. We might. I don't know. How's your drink? Um, it's okay. It's not what I'm used to, but.
00:06:42
Speaker
Well, what are you used to? Well, the cold brew and snowfall is much more rich and the coffee beans are like, they just, they're grown by these. Artificially because it's so cold there and the climate is wrong or that's crazy. That's interesting. Have you heard of greenhouses? They exist.
00:07:13
Speaker
That's so, you know, yeah, I've heard of them. They sound very old fashioned and, um, you know, outdated, but I guess you would remember that. You wouldn't, you would probably like those, but yeah, I do. You're right. Um, okay. Well, what about them? I'm sorry. I don't mean to keep interrupting you. I mean, we were talking about the party. Well, what about the party? What about greenhouses?
00:07:43
Speaker
Well, I'm pretty sure the party is where you got unreasonably mad at me. Mm-hmm. You know, after I supposedly ate your hot ditos.
00:08:10
Speaker
Well, they were my last bag and I'm surprised you remember this. I didn't even realize that you noticed that you did this because. I mean. You and Kyle were just doing some weird dance. And we're the center of attention, which is just fine, because, you know, it's not what everyone wants, but like,
00:08:37
Speaker
I would figure that you guys dancing and smacking the walls with your hair, um, would have taken up more space in your memory bank for this. But, um, yeah, I'm surprised you remember that you ate the last of my Hot Ditos, which I was saving for the trip back. But I mean, you know, it's been a very long time now and.
00:09:05
Speaker
I think we've sort of moved past. I mean, I would think that I've moved. I would think that any person who has been through something like this would move past it because it's just, it's so petty to think about, you know, these sorts of things and hold onto things like this for well over a decade. And the fact that you've brought it up, you know, it's just.
00:09:36
Speaker
Well, I also remember that I was the only person that you did not offer any hot details to. So me being from snowfall, where it's always cold, you didn't think that I would want spiciness in my life? Okay, look.
00:10:04
Speaker
I might not have offered it to you, but it's because the entire time you were talking about everything
00:10:12
Speaker
wasn't good enough just like you're talking about how the coffee is just okay and how the greenhouses of the snowfall region just produce a finer bean and I mean you didn't say those words but that's what I was gathering from what you were about to say about the greenhouses all I'm saying is maybe you didn't consider that I like to be warm too well wear a blanket if you're cold
00:10:43
Speaker
I'm sorry. I was. I don't look I didn't. First of all, you show up. You act like you don't remember that we were at this event together in the October region. You forget that I'm from here. Like, OK, I don't mean to place the blame on you. Mm hmm. I think I mean, the blame is on you, but I don't mean to place it there. It really seems and.
00:11:12
Speaker
Well, here, let me move it. Listener, for those of you who can't see what I just did, I just made a movement motion with my hands. Don't worry about it.
00:11:36
Speaker
Yes, okay, fine. I have been upset this entire time. But like I said, it was a long journey, 20 minutes back to home for me. And yeah, I maybe should have offered you some, but that doesn't mean that you should just take things.
00:11:54
Speaker
Well, they were right there and they were opened. It

Family Traditions and Resolutions

00:11:57
Speaker
wasn't like I opened them and then eat them. They were already open because you were asking everybody around the room if they wanted some, but then I didn't get asked. So I just wanted some because I like to be warm sometimes too. And I decided to eat them. Okay. I did because I wanted them. And usually I always get what I want and you weren't letting me do that. And so I had to take matters into my own hands.
00:12:25
Speaker
Well, you know what? You did take matters into your own hands. You took my DITOs into your hands and then you shoved them down your throat without asking me. And like you said, you do just like look, I'm trying to also resolve this and I'm trying not to spiral. But I also feel like, OK, yeah, you get everything you want, but this is the one time. You know, maybe I just shouldn't have speculated that you were like that, but it came out that yes.
00:12:52
Speaker
I'm sure things have changed since we last saw each other. You and Kyle can no longer dance throwing your hair against the walls. And Cascatina, I mean, she's probably... Somewhere. Somewhere.
00:13:16
Speaker
I don't know. Chop me down trees. She went to chop trees. She did. Do you remember the one time she made like a makeshift tent because everyone got stuck in the woods the night before we left? I mean, it was the one it was only it was the one night that we had to stay outdoors. But yeah, no one knew where the tarp came from.
00:13:41
Speaker
No, that was where did the tarp come from? No idea. She she didn't have a purse or anything with her. Now I want to know a really weird day. Anyway, my I just feel like you never thought about me. Well, I mean, I didn't really know you.
00:14:11
Speaker
I think we met that weekend and I know that we've sort of seen each other before I left, but I guess maybe that first impression
00:14:28
Speaker
lasted a long time. And it's just something that I personally couldn't figure out because I couldn't understand why anyone in this world would just take somebody's hot ditos. You know, maybe I was going to offer it to you. It had only been out for maybe three minutes. They were they just and there was like 15 people in the room.
00:14:55
Speaker
And yes, I did walk around to every single person that was lined up, you know, along the couches and things and said, would you like some? Would you like some? When it came to you, you were talking to someone else conveniently for me and I skipped you, but like, um, you know, some, okay, here. Sometimes, you know how you say to someone, do you want some and you don't really mean it? And you just hope that they say no. I knew that you'd say yes.
00:15:25
Speaker
Because I had seen you eating some the day before. And I was like, well, there's 15 people in here who is paying the least attention right now to my bag of hot Deedos. So. You know, that doesn't make sense. That's why I never ask anyone if they want some. Yeah, but sometimes
00:15:55
Speaker
See, maybe I should do that. Maybe I should just never ask people if they want things. Maybe I should just hoard all of the DITOs for myself. I think you should. I think you should buy them all. I'm going to do that. I'm going to. I'm going to buy them all. Make sure no one can get a single one. Or at least buy the big bags and everyone else has to have the smaller bags. I'll take them all. That works. No one can have anything. But it is expensive.
00:16:27
Speaker
Maybe I'll just buy mostly small bags. Then you only have small ones that I can hide them around my house and like, be like, Oh my gosh, a gift. Hmm. That is fun. You know? Yeah. I mean.
00:16:40
Speaker
Yeah. So you really never offer anyone? No, I actually eat them anything and I face the corner. Um, that way no one can see me. I might look like, um, how would you say, uh, goblet? Um, yeah. But do you make little noises? Like, well, that's just how I eat my.
00:17:03
Speaker
Oh, I was making. I'm so sorry. I was just making a joke because you said goblin. And I just imagine that goblins haven't come across any lately, but I just imagine that that's how they eat facing a corner. Actually, my whole family eats that way. Oh, so that that's that's I mean, that's kind of where where STEM is from. That's why when I ate more potatoes, I took a whole handful and I took them to the corner.
00:17:33
Speaker
Uh-huh. And that way no one could see me. Oh. Well, I saw you. Yeah, I figured. And I was very angry for a long time, but now, like... Well, I was angry, I was angry, so... Yeah, isn't it? You know, you think about stuff in life, and you're just like, should I really have been that upset? Probably not. You just wanted to be warm. But also...
00:18:02
Speaker
Do we need to be angry just because someone else is angry? I think it's, um, how do you say, uh, defense mechanism? Yeah. I know that's what it is. Yeah. So when, so when you showed up, I guess I could say that I was maybe a little defensive. Hmm.
00:18:30
Speaker
Just a little. I mean, I guess I was too. Yeah. So the coffee's great here, right? Like, it's so good.
00:18:45
Speaker
Yes, it's amazing. And I did that when I first came in. It smelled delicious. Yeah. When you walk in, that's one of the first things you notice, like aside from how beautiful it is in here, it's the coffee just like keeps you on beyond the coffee smell, the bakery smell just all wafting in. It's just amazing.
00:19:08
Speaker
I see why. Well, I mean, yeah, it's great.

Pastries, Humor, and Conclusion

00:19:12
Speaker
And the pastries are great, too. They're all brought in from Winters Bakery, who is an old friend of mine. Like you can see your truck outside. She brings them in every morning and these sausage rolls are the best ones I've ever had. So if you wanted to try one, I wouldn't mind, you know, just hanging out for a bit sausage roll. I haven't had one of those since university.
00:19:38
Speaker
Yeah, well, they're absolutely delicious here. You can get ones with like onion throughout the pastry and like a bunch of different herbs and stuff. Herbs? What do I say? I don't know. But yeah, I would love if you, you know, just wanted to finish your coffee here and we can, you know, catch up a bit if you want. Of course, mine. Aside from this. Of course.
00:20:08
Speaker
Okay. Well, listener, I think I'm going to head off now and just chat with, um, Lula about this stuff and, uh, don't worry about it. Everything I feel is still justified. Okay. Thank you. All right. Um, well, thanks for being here, Lula. Thank you. Thank you for sending the cat. Yeah. Um, but he's really cute, isn't he? Um, uh, do you want to say bye to everyone before we head off? Thank you for having me.
00:20:39
Speaker
Yay, we're ourselves now. I've got Amanda slash cozy, though, slash Mendozzi, which is basically like me trying to say fetch, to be honest. At this point, I'm trying to make it happen. It's not happening, but still. Hi, thank you for being a part of this, having me. This was so fun.
00:20:58
Speaker
I'm glad you had fun. Um, would you like to promote any things? Yes. You can find me on Twitch, Twitter, a ticky talk Instagram at cozy though. It's good that you have the same name for everything. I was like, I made sure I keep wanting to change mine. I'm like, nah. Um, so a little bit of a background into this story. Um, do you mind if I share? Please do.
00:21:26
Speaker
I mean, you can also just jump in at any point. But so Amanda's from the US. I'm from the US and we both live in the UK. Both of her husbands are Scottish, which is just so interesting. But so since I moved here, I've been shopping in the last couple of years from a place called American Fizz.
00:21:44
Speaker
sponsor me and they sell hot Cheetos there which is really hard to find because otherwise it's like nine pounds a bag like on Amazon or something and I have definitely bought that much so anyway I don't even know how this conversation came up but I think I might have seen you eating Cheetos during your stream
00:22:11
Speaker
And I was just talking about, I don't know what happened, but basically you said you'd buy 10 bags. And I clicked in my head and I was like, wait a minute, when? So, because I had just bought some, but I could only get two. And it turns out that Amanda had bought all of the bags to the point where I could only buy two.
00:22:37
Speaker
And since then it's just been like a really silly like ongoing joke, which I think is a joke. I don't I don't feel any type of way like Mairi does. But yeah, I just I thought that was so funny and it just still carries on. And it's only it's been a couple of months, but still it's a long time to be very upset about Cheetos, which is just so funny.
00:23:00
Speaker
Do you prefer Cheetos to Takis or Takis Cheetos? Or are they different? I prefer Cheetos to Takis, but I do prefer Hot Fries over Hot Cheetos. Oh, that might be unpopular. Oh, yeah, because you were talking about that. No, Hot Fries are so good, though. They are. Oh, shoot. I forgot to do my outro.
00:23:23
Speaker
I'll do it. I'll do it in a sec. But basically, OK, let me just do that real quick. Everyone, it's during the episode this time. Please follow me on Twitch, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, all those platforms at Glowpinksta. I am also uploading.
00:23:43
Speaker
audio only versions, which is what these are anyway, to YouTube. And there should be auto closed captions and I don't know. We'll see where this goes. OK, what are we talking about? I mean, OK, what is your favorite Cheeto?
00:24:06
Speaker
out of all of them there's like 10 millions there's like regular puffs the crunchy the hot cheetos the limon the jalapeno the cool ranch ones yes so actually
00:24:21
Speaker
The Hot Cheeto Puffs are definitely my favorite. Yes! They're the best ones! They're so good! They're the best ones! They are! Like they're so addictive as well. Oh my gosh. Like in the least actual addiction type of way. Like they're so melty. Crunchy? Yes. Very? Delicious. Just perfect. They're perfection. They're actually perfection. And also have you had the puff corn? No. I have no eyes. Oh you have to try those. They're so good.
00:24:50
Speaker
I've been too scared to try them. Puff corn? Because they're spicy popcorn, right? Yeah, but you're eating a hachiya with the same thing. I feel like puff corn is supposed to be buttery.
00:25:04
Speaker
Yeah, that's true. I mean, I eat jalapenos with my popcorn, so. Oh, have you never had it? Oh, you have to try it now. Yeah, I need to try that A's up. You do. I do it all the time. It's good. Like it's so good. I'm surprised like that you haven't heard of it because it was just a thing like I used to work at a movie theater in California and
00:25:30
Speaker
they served jalapenos and they had them in like little um i guess people could put them on their hot dogs and stuff which i also did but like i used to just take the little packets of jalapenos just for popcorn you just put them on top and eat them it's delicious oh my i need to try that
00:25:47
Speaker
Do it. Definitely. Do it right now. Right now. We're going to end this now so magic can go do the thing. OK, well, thank you for joining me today and I hope you did have fun. Thank you. I had lots of giggles and I can't wait for you to hear this episode back. OK, everyone, see you in two weeks. Bye. Bye.
