Introduction and Cast Overview

00:00:32
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop, Ben and Draconis! We are a live play five E.D. and D. Podcast set in the magical homebrew world of Earth in the Kingdom of Sleepguard! My name is Jack Black, motherfucker! And I am the Dungeon Master, and also with us for this week's Imitude! We've got Darren who plays the hey elf Adivisa Reins, hello! Peaches! Peaches! Peaches! Peaches! Peaches! Peaches! Who will? Who plays the human Eric... Eric... Eric Clemlon!
00:00:58
Speaker
Come on! You were doing so well there. Human Eric. Tell him he plays the wolf or child of his own. Alpha! Wonderboy! Ian, who plays the Tiefly Warlock next to real? Skibidibidoo! And we've got B-b-b-doo! And we've got Danny, who plays a half-orc monk, marauder, broken tusks! Not the greatest song in the world, no!
00:01:25
Speaker
This is just a tribute deck. I think you should DM like that all the time. I think inspiration, bitch. Maybe I could do. I am not going to. That's an NPC. That's a barge right there, right? Oh, we've already got a stupid part. I'm playing already and now I'm ready.
00:01:46
Speaker
We should have Jack Black Rider in my campaign. Not Gangbang Rider, that's what Jack Black Rider, but it sounds... Just want to stop now. Jack's porno. Fuck yeah!
00:02:07
Speaker
Oh God, now I just want to watch things with Jack Black in it now. Change rock history! That's all I want to say over and over. That's my one Jack Black impression, that bit there from the tribute, not from, yeah, from tribute to the music video I used to watch on repeat on Karang. The photo booth of Dave Grohl playing the demon in the road. That's where some studio engineering comes in handy, my hard rockin' amigo.
00:02:36
Speaker
Nice. I know it all. It's very sad. And welcome to this, the Jack Black tribute podcast. And Mr. Black, if you are listening, I mean, he'll be a guest next week. Oh my God, imagine that.
00:02:50
Speaker
We've rocked in a while. More than just my mum listening. Right. Hello,

Humorous Banter and Podcast Dynamics

00:02:54
Speaker
everyone. Sorry, that's a hell of a ridiculous start. And I hope you're all well, characters and listeners and players and everyone in between. We said we've got Will back as well. He's back from his wood whittling competition he had in the northwest of Scotland. Very good. I hope you won. Did you win? I won. I am indeed now known as the greatest dong in the world. All right. No longer just a tribute. Fabulous. We're good to have you back anyway.
00:03:20
Speaker
I hear they call him Triple W, Wood Whistler Will. It's like a take on Triple H. I think it's Triple W, Wood Whistler Will.
00:03:28
Speaker
and instead of the pedigree. Say that three times as fast. At the end of the podcast, Ian needs to sign me off as Big Wood. Big Woody Will! Got you. It's called Tuk Pedigree. It's not called the pedigree thing. Tuk Pedigree. Tuk Pedigree. Also, I think you should record, I knew you were talking about it before we started recording. You should record yourself playing the pan flutes you play with them of the theme song of Fellowship of the Tabletop.
00:03:56
Speaker
Unfortunately, I gifted my pan flute phallic pan flutes to Ian because he loves putting his mouth on them so much.

Recap and Setting the Stage

00:04:04
Speaker
I blow them every night. Good lord. Good lord. Well, good to hear your voices again guys. I hope everyone's well. Right, we should probably get into some D&D really. It's turning into a bit of a...
00:04:15
Speaker
I'm doing what it always does, Mark, don't lie, it's doing what it always does before dungeon dragons happen. Dungeons and dragons and dicks. Dungeons and flagons. Good lord. How much have you drunk before this? Dicks and dragons. The week has been my drink and I have, yes, bottles of vodka, right.
00:04:41
Speaker
Let's... What are we doing now? We play. Do a recap. We have a recap, Danny. If you can hear this, it's a recap. It's a recap. And we go to Darren for this week's episode. We're going to go to our chronicler, Danny, for our recap. Look at fear on Darren's face at that point. You can go that way. You can't guarantee what the results will be. Oh my God, listeners, already. You're in for a fucking ride tonight.
00:05:07
Speaker
That's what I say to you. Okay. All right. Wife. All right. Danny, we're going to Danny for this week's episode recap of The Fellowship. It's going to be one of those episodes, isn't it? Danny, here we go. Fellowship of the tabletop recap from Danny. Danny's recapping recapper. Three, two, one. Shut up everyone else. When are you ready? In the last few pages of our adventure,
00:05:35
Speaker
As two sides of this party begin to reform and weld each other back into each other's lives, Nick challenges Cedric to one could possibly describe the most epic story of ever. Here we learned the tale of Nirani's heart and the future that perhaps we might cross paths with again. As the party waits in
00:06:03
Speaker
different states of mind. For Emeron to return before journeying south, there is a sense still of mistrust and confusion in the air. The morning sun rises and brings with it an overcast day over Goldport Keep. You hear the chink of armour, the clank of boots,
00:06:30
Speaker
Of course you do. They're your own boots, Emrom, as you walk the path, a long and well-known path now back from Goldview to Goldport Keep. You see it on the horizon, no longer entrenched in wisps of flame, still looking as sad and forlorn as it has for these past few months. You come back with reward and you come back with supplies.
00:06:56
Speaker
Upon the road, you notice an individual, an individual that you had met not too long before making your way out back to Goldview in order to get the reward for killing the guard drake and the grungs.
00:07:11
Speaker
He, you see his red hair before you see anything else. And with a flick of the hair and a wink of the eye, the bright blue eyes, his patchwork jacket becomes clear.

Cedric's Tales and Group Interactions

00:07:21
Speaker
This indeed is Cedric. As he sits on a rock on the side of the road, cross-legged, quietly singing to himself as you approach. He sees you and glints his yellowed teeth in your direction with a knowing smile. Cedric?
00:07:39
Speaker
You're one of the Emron, Emron, you're Emron, aren't you? I am not one of the Emron, I am just Emron. Apologies, spoke out of turn, still early in the morning, you see. I'm not used to seeing you not doing the splits, so, you know. Well, I can if you want me to, maybe you're well enough. No, no, no, no, it's all right. Good. Well, I haven't actually warmed up, so it'd be pretty painful. Indeed, what are you doing out here? Taking some of the fresh air.
00:08:06
Speaker
I was gonna go for a shit actually, but I think it's gone back inside me. Too much information? Yeah, let's put that sort of talk along the line of, yeah, don't talk about it again. That'd be good, thanks. Yeah, we'll do that. Yeah, no, absolutely. Sorry, I had coughing lungs. What happened in the keep then, while I was gone?
00:08:32
Speaker
Go. How or now? Many, many outs and a few notes I'll have you know as well. But I don't know what either of those two words mean. So, I mean, did I think all right? You know, did anything happen that I need to know about before I get there? Well, firstly, yes. And secondly, no. Firstly, nothing much happened. Secondly, there was a travesty that took place while you were gone. An absolute fucking travesty.
00:08:56
Speaker
What was that? He stands up. Eye to eye. Well, eye to chest. Then looks up further towards to find your face. Serious look in his eye. A tear forming. I have been wronged. Badly wronged. By who? Nix. What did he do now? He stole a victory from me that was well and truly mine.
00:09:25
Speaker
Right, what did he do? I don't want to talk about it. He beat me in a story off, you see. And there was money on the table, honor at stake. I don't want to talk about it. But I lost and it's all Alfa's fault and probably a bit of Nick's, too. Mainly Nick's. He told me... Hang on, hang on, hang on. Let's just roar this back a few 10 minutes. I don't want to talk about it. Okay, fine. We won't talk about it. But what did Alfa do? Oh, just did Alfa things, you know. Was weird.
00:09:50
Speaker
Oh, okay. Put money on the table, basically. I could have won money and paid off part of my debt. Instead, he gave it to his friend. He was the deciding vote, you see. I'm also incredibly jealous of him at the same time. Not Alpha, obviously. Nick's story is having ways. How much money was exchanged?
00:10:09
Speaker
Well, he said his share for the dragon... I'm sorry, what? Alpha traded his share of the money he earned. He said, I'm going to give that to you, Nyx, in his voice, and gave it to Nyx, you see, for beating me in the story of. Right, okay. Anyway, it's bullshit because obviously you know me, you know my stories, don't you? Don't you?
00:10:35
Speaker
No. You do. You've heard them. I'm sure you've heard them. No, no. You want to hear them. I've got lots, many stories. I tell you what, maybe, you know, over a pint. I trudged wearily through the covers. Later on in the evening and just if you tell the stories, you know, in the evening in front of a fireplace where perhaps people can go to sleep, that'd be great. I steal meaning. Very well. Well, were you successful in your journey back to gold view?
00:11:03
Speaker
I did. I managed to get up here and I've arranged for some more supplies to be dropped off at the keep given that we're feeding a few more mouths than we normally would be. Very good.
00:11:16
Speaker
Why did you point in the sky then? I don't get that. That's a new thing I'm trying. It's a gesture. I'm trying to raise attention. Bad things. Right. Okay. Okay. Bad things. No, no. Listen, a few things. Your friends, we're all thinking about going south. I'm myself included. I'm coming with BTX.
00:11:36
Speaker
You're coming with us. I thought we were just going a bit further south. Oh, shit, that's far. No, I did know that. Yes, yes, why not? I'm coming. A few of the others might jilly-dally along to the border, maybe, help out possibly. But there's a little bit of contention, a little bit of oops-goes-your-father thing going on that I think I want to bring up with you that I am actually being a bit serious now. The others, I ran into all of you, you see. Late night, drinking on my own. Not weird. Totally normal thing. We all do it.
00:12:03
Speaker
And she was a bit upset, you see, about someone else in the group. Just wanted to put it out there. Hang on a minute. Who was all upset about? Squeaky bum time. Here we go. Bob, do you find this your aunt? It's Morator.
00:12:17
Speaker
Why what happened? Well, what didn't happen? Well, what happened was Murray was a bit mean to her. By a bit mean, he pretty much that she pretty much threatened violence upon or if if she continued most hunting, which of all the better. Why? What? What? Why did Marota threaten about? What? Why?
00:12:41
Speaker
Well, those made a bit of sense, actually, if you're being honest. All has not had much success. People have died. Morata doesn't want to see more people die. Oh, so basically Morata is telling her to give up the trade because she thinks all is a bit shite at it.
00:12:56
Speaker
Yeah. And I don't think she, I don't think she minced her words very much. I think she pretty much said that plus a few more expletives. So obviously if you get told the one thing you're good at, so let's say for you, Imran, you know, you're really good at being tall. And if someone said, well, actually you're really short, you'd feel like a twat, wouldn't you? It'd be a bit harsh. So, you know, yeah, sure. Okay. Yeah. That's all all I know. And now she's being told all of a sudden you shit at it. It's kind of, you know, Oh no, I've got to find myself again.
00:13:22
Speaker
It's like people telling me I'm not the best storyteller in a group. I can't imagine someone telling you that you're the worst person in the room. Well, they didn't say that, but thank you for saying it, though.
00:13:33
Speaker
Anyway, before we head in, that's why I wanted to come out and actually meet you. I don't actually need a poo poo. I'm all good. I did mine last night, but I'm still talking about ablutions. Anyway, I wanted to catch you before Philly went on up and you didn't have to hear it firsthand from, I don't know, all of being upset and shit about it anyway. And also that she has already lined someone up to another monster. So just, um,
00:14:00
Speaker
Bear that in mind. I'd like to mention it to her, and it might be my fault, so sorry. Who mentioned what to who? Me, a possible monster, big payout. I did mention it to her, and now she won't stop talking about it to me. What's the possible monster? It's south of here. I know bits, but I know somebody who knows loads about it. We can get all the information. The big problem was we didn't have information. Now we can get information, then everything's sorted, obviously. So there you go.
00:14:34
Speaker
Maybe I'm not the best person to fully... The others haven't decided yet. This is something all alive and chatted about. No one else has said anything about it. So it's just us, but just... She's quite... Maybe you tell me now, Swann, or what I'm going into. I don't think it's probably my place to say it, so... How about we just walk, and we talk about the weather, and I'll sing your story, or sing you a song, maybe, instead of... Tell you what, I'll let you sing your song if you tell me what the monster is you want Orla to hunt.
00:14:54
Speaker
But what am I going into? What monster are you after?
00:15:06
Speaker
Have you heard of the Underdark? I'm vaguely aware of its existence, yeah. So, rumor has it, a world beneath our world. Full of all manner of infestated shit. A lot of them are particularly nice. Now, one in particular grows in caverns and caves called a roper. Now, this roper in particular is a bit of a twat. It does lie in the south of here on the way to Dralak, well, ish.
00:15:30
Speaker
It has a certain connection to the minerals around it. We know a little bit about it. Most importantly of all, it has been hounded by monster hunters for a while. So they have accumulated through their deaths a huge amount of gold underneath it and treasures and magical items. Now, you guys look great, but I don't see anything glowing on you, apart from your big hammer thing when you make a glow glow.
00:15:56
Speaker
so i think you know if we're heading south you need some more shit i could do with some magical shit too this might be a place where we can gather some gear and get some money and sort some stuff out anyway i said all that to orla and she just you know saw gold coins in the arms yeah yeah okay and then did that then cause marauder to have a go orla
00:16:18
Speaker
Oh, no, no, no. Marzia doesn't know anything about this. I haven't mentioned it to her, and I kind of told her, I don't mention it either. And she went, okay, maybe I will, maybe I won't. And then she kind of went off and did some planning. But, you know, we know a bit about Ruppers, so we know what to expect coming into this at least. And again, I know someone who knows loads about this one in particular, and it's Ruppers as well. And what do you know about Ruppers?
00:16:40
Speaker
Ropers with many arms, many tentacles that lash out from its body and slowly pull you in. But there are ways around it. It's in a cave. So if you bring some rope and tie yourself to static mites or tights or fights or glights or whatever they're called, you can stop the pull happening. The only thing dangerous about them really are the teeth. So you don't get pulled in. You ain't gonna get hurt. Simple. And then just attack it from a distance until it's dead. Oh, that's very smart. Oh look, we're at the keep already. You'll have to save that song for another time.
00:17:09
Speaker
You know what? I'll sing it to you tonight, I promise you, and a bard never breaks his promise except all the time, okay? Excellent. All right, I'll, yeah, cheers. Fab, what? I'm going to go for a dip in the lake. Would you like to join me? No, I'm going to go inside, get some, you know, late breakfast. It's okay, I will be naked.
00:17:34
Speaker
Yeah, you go and enjoy yourself. No, okay, right. He sees a Zelda walking past. A Zelda, naked dip. Nope, she fully ignored me. Okay, great. I will see you all later, by all of you. I mean, just you, everyone, good to see you again, my man. And if you fancy giving me a cut of gold, you know where I am, nude and in the lake, tatibai. That's where Nick's nice to go.
00:18:02
Speaker
and he saunters off and walks off. Unless there's anyone else who would have done something early morning, I'm talking kind of before break of dawn-esque time, I'm kind of imagining just for expediency, we've all kind of roughly woken up around the same time, our circadian rhythms are synced to the springtime, and we were kind of woken up and congregated in some way, munching on bits of breakfast in the hall, unless anyone does have anything else they

Morning Chaos and Treasure Discussions

00:18:29
Speaker
want to be doing in that time.
00:18:31
Speaker
or if we're all happy, then we'll just congregate. And as everyone walks in, I'm getting thumbs up, so I'm gonna go with it. As everyone walks into the Great Hall, you do see Ola, you see Raines, Marota, you see Nyx, and you see Alpha all kind of scattered around. It might kind of go for each of you, what you're kind of doing. So Ola would be just kind of sorting out something, dusting and cleaning an area quite far above where the seating area is, maybe sorting out some cupboards, et cetera, quite removed from the rest of the group, probably out of listening distance.
00:19:01
Speaker
Raines, what are you up to at the moment in this lovely... What, Raines, what are you up to in this overcast morning? Yeah, what you see is Raines is sat at one of the tables. He's just preparing himself some breakfast onto his plate. And as he's doing that, N.C. is flying around and he lands on the table, taps the Rubik's key, which is sat on the table and just says tea. And, well, thank you, N.C. And N.C. will just start to pour some tea into what Raines has cut.
00:19:31
Speaker
He'll see M. Ron and just go, I am Ron. You're just entitled for some freshly brewed tea. It's actually quite good ever since N.C. came into contact with that... I feel kind of weird calling it a thing saying is it died for us, but ever since it came into contact with that Magnus character, N.C.'s brewing capacities have expanded twofold.
00:19:55
Speaker
So, and Enron puts down the bag of gold on the table, is the bounty. Works out at 187 gold and 50 silver each, so of course, minus deductions for getting all the supplies and that lot. So, I think it's working out at about 170 odd for getting all the supplies shipped here.
00:20:24
Speaker
It's quite a take. Shame. Shame. True price. No, no, not to me, as in, so this has gone for, supply has been sent to us and that kind of stuff. It's all the people been sending stuff to us. So they should arrive there, especially because we've got more mouths to feed. I've got a few, some resources coming here as well. That should be helpful with the Forge and getting some stuff going. Seeds, grain, meat, salt, you know,
00:20:53
Speaker
Stuff that we can try and start sorting this keep out with, if you know what I mean. Fair enough. We're going to make Phaedraic at some point today. I don't know too much about these folk here, but I get the impression that some of them may wish to come with us. Why? Well, I'm of mine to dissuade them from it. Yeah, I mean, it'd be better from today. I met Cedric on the way in.
00:21:20
Speaker
Yeah, him definitely. He has verbal diarrhea, don't he? We're sore than Nix. Yeah, well, Nix has been very, very quiet. It's kind of been nice, but it makes me think something might be a little bit off. Well, that's cold, I can understand it. But I can hear you. I didn't hear you say Nix was in the room, sorry. Yeah, everyone's there. I was just going to you first to see what we do. It's good to know where you're at.
00:21:49
Speaker
Just worried about you, Nick. That sounds like you're worried. Sure. Anyway, Cedric mentioned, and I won't lower his tone as he says this, Cedric mentioned something about there being some kind of monster on the way down south that might be worth us dealing with because there might be some potential pair in regards to having some kind of horde or something like that. Oh, for God's sake.
00:22:18
Speaker
I can't fathom how much of a terrible idea that sounds. Our success ratio is not good. His suggestion was that it's something that other ventures have gone up against before and lost but given that we know in advance what it is and he says he knows an expert and I want to say that with a pinch of salt
00:22:43
Speaker
Given, you know, Marauder, she was always dandy in a fight when we were, before they went. And Nix, bless him, giving everything. He was also getting to start be pretty useful in a fight. So, you know, let's, let's, let's give him. You see Nix just in the corner of the table, just look over to Alpha. You see me, right? You see me.
00:23:08
Speaker
We're in a different type of way. So, you know, there are multiple tables. There were a different table. So booger off.
00:23:16
Speaker
Alpha, what happened? In all fairness, if you are looking at Alpha, he is kind of focused. He's got his pistol out on the table, which sounds, it sounds really odd. He has his pistol out on the table. He's got like a little roll up of tools and it's technically still broken from the misfire that I had when I was trying to fight you two anyway. I'm trying to fix it. Oh, do you have Tintas tools yet?
00:23:43
Speaker
What I can do, I can use my special feet, the right tool for the job. Explain it to the listeners. I am getting there, you little... It's got special feet? I have very special feet. You fixed it with your feet? I'm being extra... Opposable toes. I can basically... You were built with some sort of kink in mind. It was Emron that did the building.
00:24:10
Speaker
I can basically use my current set of tools and adjust them to create the tools that I need for the job at hand so I can basically take the
00:24:23
Speaker
tools that I currently have. Doesn't it take an hour to transmute them? It does, but it can be done during the short or long rest. And seeing as we've just had a long rest, does anyone have anything they would be doing during this time? No. This is what I'm doing now. It's fine.
00:24:43
Speaker
The transmutation's already kind of happened with the tools, that's all fine. So I'm literally just fiddling over. Yes, it has. I like to think Alpha's kind of got this little, the monocle microscope type of thing as well, just zooming in as he tries to fix his poor little pistol, which could go horribly wrong in all fairness. How could it go horribly wrong? Because if I fail to meet the DC, my pistol is basically fucked.
00:25:09
Speaker
It would cost you like 75 gold, wouldn't it, to repair? I thought he'd more than that. I thought he was just giving up one of his gold to Nix. Yeah, if I don't need it, it's fine. I think it's somewhat like 150 or something. And the DC, I think I have to roll a 10 or higher.

Alpha's Fears and Weapon Choices

00:25:25
Speaker
When do you have to roll it? I don't know, Callum. I'm pretty sure we posted the rules to you several times. You did. You did. And I'm fairly sure I'm remembering that correctly, where I have to get
00:25:35
Speaker
To repay your firearm, you've made a successful tinker's tool. DC equal to eight plus the misfire score. Calla wants the misfire score on your weapon. Good.
00:25:45
Speaker
So I have to get 10 or higher. If the check fails, the weapon is broken and must be mended out of combat for a quarter of the cost of the firearm. How much is your firearm worth, Callum? Oh, I don't fucking know. You're asking me all these questions. Will, stop asking Callum questions about his character. That he should know. How is he expected to know this stuff? Give him a break, man. It's only his character. 250 gold pieces is the value of my weapon. And what's 250 divided by four? I don't know. You're asking me really shit math.
00:26:14
Speaker
What is it, about 60 odd gold pieces or something like that? 62.5. So 62 gold and 50 silver. What are you doing with your gun there on the table? Thank you for trying to get everything back on track. Seriously though, why are you staring at that thing really hard? What's going on? I'm afraid it malfunctioned during my last combat. Oh, with you actually.
00:26:43
Speaker
I'm attempting to fix it. It's not going well. Anything I can do? Put your finger there. I'm just going to point to a piece on the gun. I put my finger on your gun.
00:27:04
Speaker
I grew it up and down. Just going to see Alpha get very, very close with his tiny little flat bladed screwdriver. He tightens his little screw. Thank you. That was most helpful. It's like iRobot meets Ghost. You can take it down that route if you wish. Did it help? What was your role? I'm not rolling it yet. What's your gun doing on that table?
00:27:33
Speaker
When do you roll it? I would roll it now. He rolled a six. He rolled a six. He failed. My pistol is fucked and cannot be fixed until I have some gold. I'm going to be punching a lot of people. How did it happen? I mean, we're talking a small explosion. Can we go? Wait, let me roll a dice. We can decide. Go for it. Roll. Okay. So on a one, there's going to be a 20 foot explosion.
00:28:01
Speaker
Oh no. Oh god. I've just come back. Let's go to randomly fire a round off in a random direction, which I'll decide in a second. A three, the gun's going to uncontrollably spin round and cause some bludgeoning damage to you. And on a four, it's just going to smoke and then nothing's going to happen, okay? Oh god. That is a two. What did I say for two?
00:28:23
Speaker
Oh, it's going to go to random direction. Oh, this is fun. This is fun. Sorry. You could assign each was a random dice roll and then just. OK, six of us in there. So it's one to six. It's going to go one is reigns, two is Morita, three is Nyx, four is Alpha, five is Amron, six is Ola. That's a one. So reigns.
00:28:47
Speaker
Could you just roll the damage you normally would for a round? Like, imagine you've already hit. Yep, okay. I'm rolling and... Nine points. Magical positioning damage. And he's dying. Ow! Who am I? The gun smokes then and is inoperable as parts of the weapon are just kind of like welded and melted down through it. It's just like a slag now, pretty much.
00:29:16
Speaker
What in the blazes of a 9L you do in Alpha? I do apologize. I'm attempting to fix and... To hell with your apology. Get over here and heal me. You're not at the fucking dinner table. You've got a fucking workshop outside. It's breakfast, Father. It's breakfast. It's not dinner. I apologize for the correction, but it's breakfast. It's not dinner.
00:29:38
Speaker
Look, look, there's a thing to corrections. One of those is fixing range and the other is talking about where's appropriate to fix your weapons and you can't just slap your weapon on the table. I'm kind of bleeding. Like my left arm is actually, I've been shot out. I'm coming. I'm coming. It's fine. I can't believe you just turn around and shot him in the back of the head. I was just here.
00:29:57
Speaker
Jesus Christ. Yeah, I will. I will go over and just apply some salt to the bullet wound and I'll cast cure wounds. Put that in the gold book of the history of my family. Seven points killed by an idiot. It was merely a mistake. This is a mistake. And we've all been there. We've all misfired before. Yeah. Well, it was an accident. Damn mistake.
00:30:24
Speaker
Maybe we need to talk about proper weapon maintenance and where it's appropriate to do so another time. Sorry, did you say that thing is broken? Yes, I'm afraid so. Good. Go to the armour and get yourself a crossbow. We can't have you walking around punching things to death. Go to the armour and get yourself a crossbow. There's probably a knife in there or sorts of sorts as well.
00:30:51
Speaker
Alpha's going to kind of almost disappointingly sulk away from Reigns and start heading towards the armory. I'm going to go with him. Me too. And as we do, I'm going to just put an arm around him. Still telling you what to do, eh?
00:31:14
Speaker
It would appear. Are we left the hall now? Can I just ask? We're overhearing this. We're right here now. Crossing the field between the two. There's no field. Are the armory or the forge they're going to? There's two different places. The armory is a different room. I was going to the armory. The armory's empty. That's all empty. It's an armory room. It's got the racks. Remember, they're empty racks. Everything, all that kind of... Yeah, but he said armory, so I'm still going to the armory. Okay.
00:31:42
Speaker
So you're heading to the armory. Yes, they have not been able to get out of the habit. Do you still turn big bad? Red eyes. I had a recent situation where it did happen indeed. It's still somewhat unpredictable.
00:32:11
Speaker
Do you know what triggers it at all? Yes, I do recall. Just something from long ago before I came here. I remember the story about your old friend. But when you get told what to do, you don't get any bubbling rage or anger or just like, hey, I'm a bigger
00:32:41
Speaker
better, badder being in six months. I just, I'm trying to get the lowdown of what's happened. There are some things I wish I could say, but then I worry that something I say might not be able to be taken back. The people don't have to think about your words with us to speak your mind. The people who are close to me seem to leave and
00:33:11
Speaker
I am always concerned that if I were to speak my mind with Rains and Emron, that they too would leave me. And I would not know where to go in this world. Ah, Alpha. I am very sure they would never leave you. It is not something I wish to test.
00:33:37
Speaker
there's this thing that happens to parents. They sort of just always stick around. But where are your parents, if I may ask? They were killed by a marauding band of orcs when I was seven.
00:34:05
Speaker
I suppose that is a good reason for them not to be here. What about yours, Nix? Were you all killed by a marauding band of pirates? Mine became famous Pirates of the Seas. It's quite a beautiful story, really. But it's not for now. It's for another day. Disappointing. Very.
00:34:33
Speaker
There's nothing here in this armory. No, I am looking around. It appears to be empty. I wonder if mains meant to check the forge rather than the armory. Perhaps he made a mistake. What about one of these? And I'm going to take from my pack a short sword and hand it over. It is not something that I'm very familiar with. I do not know how to wield.
00:35:04
Speaker
such a thing. And he's kind of just waving it about in front of him almost like he's using a magic wand or something. There's clearly no purpose or strength to any of these swings that were going off. It's almost like he's holding a piece of paper or something. You're a natural. You look great. You're doing really well. Hmm. Maybe I will hang on to this for now as well.
00:35:32
Speaker
You say this is a short sword. I'm going to kind of look around and you've got no way to attach it to. So we're just going to hang on, hang on to it for now. I believe I should still search for a crossbow just in case. I will head to the forge as well, just to see if I can procure one from there. Do you wish to come with me to the forge?
00:36:03
Speaker
Very formal. Yes, I shall accompany you to the Forge. Very well. Al was going to start making his way over to the Forge.

Strategizing and Ethics of Monster Hunting

00:36:16
Speaker
He'd still kind of gently swaying this sword back and forth. It is nice to have both of you back here. I will not lie, I have missed you both very much.
00:36:32
Speaker
Thanks, Alpha, that means a lot. I missed you too, buddy. It's good to be back in your presence. Thank you. Anything of note? What's the goss? What's the goss? The goss? Do you mean the chatter, the past, the history? The crack, like what's occurred? The 4-1-1, the lowdown.
00:37:00
Speaker
It has been difficult few months. Um, I have recently learned that I am not alone. There's been another one like me. Um, I believe he was seen another construct. Yes. One with his own independent mind. He was devoured and dissolved by some form of Drake. Sounds about right. Yeah. I was.
00:37:26
Speaker
Very disappointed. That was also the situation where I last went angry, as I understand it. Oh, was this the last contract that you just attempted? Yes, indeed. Right. OK, so I've heard bits. I don't suppose you've had thoughts about whether or not you're cut out for monster hunting.
00:37:54
Speaker
Well, I have not died, so I believe I have a knack for it. What would you say is your success rate, though? Well, we have set out on two bounties as to my recollection. I have survived both encounters. So I have 100%, was it three? I generally can't remember now. The basement, the cliffs, and this thing. We were not unemployed at the basement at that time, not by all at the very least.
00:38:24
Speaker
But I suppose, yes, you could include the basement as well. But my point still stands. I have 100% success rate as I am still here and have not yet... died. That's how legends are made alpha. I like legends. I don't know if I would be one. You have 100% success rate in monster hunting. But not very many people know my name. Not liking the stories I know.
00:38:55
Speaker
Alfa, you're the most important one here. Did you not learn anything during our time together? I suppose the lessons that you both have tried to instill within me seem to dissipate in your absence. Well, it's good you're back. Yeah, your tutoring resumes now. I would like that.
00:39:20
Speaker
You know these stories that you like? And these characters in these stories? Yes. Well, you're the main character in this story. How so? I do not have any traits of a main character. Yet. And actually, you do. You do this thing with eyes. You're a leader of a clan. Can you stop neglecting that? I am not neglecting the alpha clan. I sent them a message only yesterday. Great. Good to see you're managing them.
00:39:50
Speaker
They appear to be doing well upon our last correspondence. Here, try this. Nick's passes you a crossbow. Ah, thank you. Don't shoot me, though. I do. These are less technical than the pistol I previously had. Hopefully I will be able to...
00:40:14
Speaker
work with this. I mean, is this what you want? Is this what you want to battle with? Is there anything else in here you'd rather wield as your own? I do not know. The pistol is the only weapon I've ever used. And was the pistol given to you as well? Yes. It was given to me by my old friend. I am not sure. I would have to try.
00:40:39
Speaker
numerous things to see what works as a preference for me. There's so much stuff in here! Look! Look around! A lot of stuff! So much stuff! Isn't it neat? Wouldn't you think my collection's complete? There is certainly a large amount of stuff here, but it's impractical for me to take it all. I believe a short sword and crossbow would be sufficient for now to experiment with.
00:41:09
Speaker
You could treat this like a library, you know? Hmm. I return weapons and take new ones. Exactly. Until you find the one you like. Yeah. Don't just wield what's been given. Choose what you want to go forward with. Hmm. I suppose I could. I would venture to try more weapons. Fair enough. And as while you're perusing over,
00:41:39
Speaker
And this slow coercion continues. We'll just quickly pan back over to... Just going to Google a load of five ED&D weapons now. Whilst Rains, and I'll tell you they're all, none of them are available. Absolutely. We'll pan back over to where Rains and Emerald have been left alone in the large hall with all eyes. Bring that away to the north. Just recovered from the bullet wound. Rains, well...
00:42:06
Speaker
Are you all right? Yeah, range is just inspecting the wound and it's like I genuinely do not know where to begin with alpha from from time to time. Oh, I know. I know. And while he's doing that, I'm on a love cast mending on on on range's clothes to fix the clothes and the shirt and that. Just shut them in. You're in silk bloody expensive. Yeah. I mean, don't get me wrong. I appreciate you trying to
00:42:35
Speaker
work, fix his weapon, I don't know what happened to it when we were in the forge, but whatever. But I thought- Emran, he's been around you long enough to know that you don't do forge work at the breakfast table. I thought I taught him better to, you know, not manhandle his weapon at the breakfast table. Well, as long as that's the only stupid thing he's done today, we should
00:42:59
Speaker
not the one who was opposed. Anyway, this this creature that Cedric says is on our way down to Dralak. He does he does present an interesting opportunity. He talks about the fact that it might have gold and or equipment. And let's just you know, if if he's right, and we are going down, I mean, we're going down to Dralak to meet with this, whatever that bloody Drake or whatever said was in that settlement we rescued Marota. So
00:43:29
Speaker
Who knows what we're going to go and face down there? I don't know, Imran. Like I said to you all that time ago, we're not at liberty to die on the other side of the world, and our death ratio for every monster hunt is two people. Now, the fact that two of those people have come back is neither here nor there. I don't think we should be. Well, no. I know what you mean. I know him. I take your point.
00:43:54
Speaker
But equally, I think, you know, we know Marota, we know Nix, both of them are quite capable. The circumstances of our last fight were just... Do we? Fuck no, genuinely. Do we know them? Seriously? We're gonna... Yeah, I'm assuming that their fall off a cliff has made them real type of each other, but we don't know them out in Rome. They were with us for two weeks. Everyone pauses for a moment and sort of just...
00:44:23
Speaker
sort of rubs his head for a moment. I think in these terms, we have to have an honest question to ourselves, Rains. Either they are who they say they are, and they are them, and that's fine, or they're not. We've just got to take a leap of faith. And for the moment, for the moment,
00:44:54
Speaker
overtly done nothing to disprove the fact that they are them. Yes, they're a bit quieter, but you know, falling off a cliff will do that to a lot of folk. I just, I can't live constantly having to not question them. Either we've got to just go with it, or what's the fucking point?
00:45:23
Speaker
All right, fine. That's the two of them. They're coming with us. This place is much better than the last one. It's not for me to say that. I got no problems with Nerolda and Nyx coming with us. Just to throw that out there. I got zero problems with that. I don't want any of the others coming. Well, I think they should stay here. I think they can look after Keith for us. We can ask them to make sure crops are planted, keep things maintained, that kind of stuff. Because Keith needs clearing up.
00:45:54
Speaker
And there is a part of me that thinks the best thing we can do for Cedric is keep him nearby because if we leave him here, he's gonna... I don't know, he's gonna...
00:46:03
Speaker
I just get stuck somewhere or get a pile of him stuck somewhere and yeah, I'm not a fan of him at all. Then there's this Gildan fellow here. He seems like a really nice, a beautiful fellow. Just leave him all here. Well, that brings me to that. Gildan seems to be quite handy over Smith. He's remarkably, I think his name's Gildan.
00:46:31
Speaker
Anyway, he's a very polite man, talks a lot, says sir, kept calling me Mr. Raines despite the fact that I killed him and then used my squirrel to bring him back to life. I think you should have a word with him because I think there's stuff in the forge and the maintenance that he could do while we're away, he seems a handy smith. I don't know, maybe you could leave him a chores list or something before we
00:46:55
Speaker
There are a few things we need to start getting sorted,

Embarking on a New Adventure

00:46:59
Speaker
but I just think... And then there's the other two. There's the pretty one, the soldier. I mean, she's objectively pretty. You could look at her and say she's objectively pretty, right? That's a fair thing to say. This porridge is really hot. And then there's the animal talker. Where's she gone? I hadn't seen her for a few days.
00:47:25
Speaker
What do you mean? I only left it yesterday. There's a yonder, your lander. I can't remember her name. She actually spoke to us on the first day. She said she could speak with animals and she spent most of her time on the outskirts of the fields. Brutal. I don't know what one of these she's doing, but we should probably find out what her deal is before we leave. I mean, there's us four and then there's Ola. Would she come or would she stay?
00:47:49
Speaker
No, I, I, there's five of us. Sorry. Yeah, sorry. I just counted myself. Yeah, there you go. I don't think all that should come. I think as much as these new people seem nice and I hear Aaron Marotta at a barney. That's where I started. Cedric says that Marotta and Ora had a few choice words. About?
00:48:20
Speaker
I think Marauder told all of she was shit at being her monster, weren't they? She's not wrong. I'm serious, Imran. Oh, hi, all that. Did you see her there? If Marauder thinks we shouldn't be monster hunters, I'm sorry. You could probably tell I'm inclined to agree with her. So why are we going south? We're going south because...
00:48:50
Speaker
It's the only lead we've got. We need a lot of gold for this place. And there is a dragon that wants to speak to us. Who will probably tell us to go and kill something. So we are big monster hunters. Well, we can assume that that's what the dragon will want. Or we can go and find out and see. OK. OK. OK.
00:49:14
Speaker
Okay, well, we'll go south. I still think potentially this thing that Cedric says could be worth a shout, but equally, I'll put it up to the group. Maybe... All of us should stay here, you're right. I mean, Iraq's in the right place. Don't get me wrong. But... Yeah.
00:49:40
Speaker
That and the other three, I guess, after your perusals in the in the Forge have kind of moved your back over to the to the Great Hall and have entered back now with a fully armed alpha with sword. Operational battle alpha operational. Yeah, it comes in fully armed, kind of equipped back to his full capacity again. Ah, good. You found some of the stuff we still had in the Forge then.
00:50:10
Speaker
Indeed. A crossbow was recommended by Raines. A crossbow, I hadn't made one of them. I was able to find one. Oh, okay. There was some, the British supplies are already in there from previous owners. I hadn't realised, I forgot to grab any bolts while I was there. I was going to say, it was probably just as well. No ammo, okay. Perhaps I will grab them later.
00:50:37
Speaker
I was just talking to Nick's about our plans. I was with... Rains. Sorry. I'm Rains, that's Nick's. It's nice that I'm still in your mind. It was a very early start. No, it was a very early start from Goldfune or to get here for now. I see what the mind wants. It's understandable. Nick's, you're lovely. And yes, you prey on my mind all the time, but, you know, all the time. Anyway, I was talking to Rains about us travelling south.
00:51:08
Speaker
And obviously we discussed the others. And we came to the conclusion that perhaps all should stay here with all the others whilst us five go south. That seems sensible to me. I have no issues with this. Oh, while we're here, um, and everyone will put a bag down in front of Alpha. Here is your share of the bounty of the Drake and the frog people. Oh, thank you.
00:51:39
Speaker
Alpha will grab it by the top, basically turn to Nyx, put it out to him. Thank you for the story. Sure. You're welcome. Anytime. Range's eyes go wide as that happens and then he just thinks, nope, nope, nope, this is second on the stupid things he's done today. So I'm not even going to bring this one up.
00:52:05
Speaker
On my way in, Cedric mentioned there being some kind of creature on the way down towards Dralak that might be worth us looking at in regards to getting some more gold or money out of it, out of the situation. While we were on the way, I didn't pass comment on whether I thought it was a good idea or not, but I thought I'd bring it to the group.
00:52:34
Speaker
I have fast comment on it and think it's a terrible idea. If I may, and Ola sheepishly walks over with a plate of bread and some more drinks and kind of lays them down on the table that everyone's complicated around. I've got something I'd like to say before you come to a decision on this. This isn't a monster hunting mission that Cedric and I have discussed. It's just a creature. There's no bounty in it.
00:53:04
Speaker
from anyone else it's just there's treasure there I know more and I have learned from my previous and I will not come with you for this because I think I'm the unlucky one that gets you all in trouble but I know more and I know who to get more information from before we dive head first before you dive head first into this so you will you would be ready I don't want to cut because
00:53:34
Speaker
I owe you all more than that. And I have learned and she's kind of every now and then eyes flicked to Marota from my past mistakes. And this isn't monster hunting. This is just, I heard about it. And if you're heading south, I want you to be as prepared as you can. Yes, this creature might be dangerous, but I worry what Dralak has in store for you might be even more dangerous. And I want you to be as prepared and as armored and armed as you can be.
00:54:05
Speaker
There is a high chance that within this stash, this hidden treasure around this rope will be items, magical, great, legendary items that will benefit you all massively and protect you. For God's sake, it will protect you against whatever Dralak has punishing me to throw at you.
00:54:34
Speaker
We lose nothing by following all his advice and finding more information about the creature. Well, let's put this to a vote as far as which means we're not going to have a deadlock. I still vote no. Sorry. I vote yes to find out about it. And then once we know about what this creature is and whether we think we can face it based on that,
00:55:04
Speaker
It's on our way. It's not like we're going out of our way to go find the creature. We're going Dralak anyway. We find out about it. If we don't fancy it, we'll leave it alone and continue on to Dralak. Hola. Does this creature truly reside in a place that has the potential for generating some high heat environments?
00:55:27
Speaker
Yes, it's in a cave structure below one of the fractured mountains on the way to the southern border. It stretches quite far down. Old tunnels have been there for quite some time, but they do tend to get quite warm. And if you head down some of the more southerly tunnels, they do get incredibly warm, though no one really goes there because of the heat. But if you're looking to stress test yourself, Alpha, then yes, it does. Near to the temperature that you're looking for.
00:55:57
Speaker
then I vote a yes. And all eyes look towards Morota and Nyx. So far it's a yes. Morota's eyes look towards Nyx. And Nyx's eyes is looking towards the bag of gold and he's just kind of weighing it with his hands, kind of just trying to feel the weight of it. Senses all the eyes. Oh, yeah, looks to Morota.
00:56:27
Speaker
And there's a hint of eyes just growing a little bit wider. You're going, right? I just lift my eyebrows, not giving away either. Then Nick's eyes goes wider looking at you, just lets the silence hang in the air. Alpha that is watching this eyebrow communication is just going to turn and say, I am very confused. I am not aware of this form of communication.
00:57:03
Speaker
I vote no. To this detour. That's why I was going to say. As well. Democracy in action. No, it is. Okay. Straight on. Unless you agree.
00:57:32
Speaker
orla in front of everybody here you don't do anything associated with this line of work again what do you mean this line of work i don't want to hear you even think about telling us to go find a rabbit in the woods after this very well i promise in front of everyone here and i swear on gold port keep
00:58:02
Speaker
and my father's honour and my honour that I will never again after this mention so much as a creature with a bounty or not again to any of you this I promise this I swear and if that's broken I'm burning this keep to the ground well I'm on this is all of our
00:58:32
Speaker
Keeps him raw. That is, you know, some of us are home. I value our lives more. Aye. She's not wrong. I too tend to value my life more than if buts and buttercups. Very well. I swear it. Then I vote yes. Yes. Yeah. Yeah, totally. Yes. Yes.
00:59:00
Speaker
fair enough we go. I have a request then since Cedric Gobshite recommended this. I don't think his surname was Gobshite. His surname was Winrider. Cedric Winrider Gobshite. The unstoppable. I don't think there's any Gobshite in there. Gobshite is not a part of this, of his name. Why do you keep adding Gobshite? Just get to the point.
00:59:28
Speaker
He seems to be pretty clear on what this is and seems to be vouching for the magical items there and seemed quite clear about that from what you said, Imran. I think he should come with us. He told me that's what he knew. He told me he didn't know much else, but he said that's what he knew. I reckon all his friend knows more and he should stay here because, you know, we don't know him as well as we do. Brilliant. We're back to democracy. I vote yes to Cedric coming with us.
00:59:59
Speaker
I very much would like Cedric to come with us. No. I'm going to gesture to Nyx. Nyx, I'll follow your lead on this one. No. More eyebrow communication. I'm a no if Nyx is a no. I'll say no as well. Oh, well, that is disappointing.
01:00:22
Speaker
I agree. He tends to draw attention to himself and the last thing you want heading to Dralak and to the border is attention. I'll tell you all I know about the Ropa and who you might need to contact for some more information. Firstly, the Ropa is a creature that is almost indistinguishable to the area it surrounds.
01:00:42
Speaker
preys on those that aren't expecting it. It hangs like a stalactite from the ceiling of a cave and is almost unnoticeable, even if you really want to find it. Now, this ropa in particular is stronger and much older than those previous ones we might have heard about from the Underdark. One thing in particular is different. It seems to have a tether, a link to an Arcanic stone that's nearby.
01:01:11
Speaker
I don't know anything about the stone or why it powers it or what it does, but as the connection between it and the stone is joined, it will continue to regenerate. The rock form will continue to regrow upon it, making it very difficult to kill. Break the connection somehow by putting something in the way. Apparently you can see it like a tether, like a thin film of light between the two. Get something in the way of that, break that connection, it will stop regenerating.
01:01:41
Speaker
The other thing I've heard about them is that they're weak to water. So any kind of breaks in the tunnels you can make or diverting water or anything you can do with your magics or indeed throw water at it might reduce its capacity to defend itself slightly. Now, there are other things to it as well. I can't remember them myself. In fact, I don't think I was told them myself, but I was speaking with a friend of mine about
01:02:11
Speaker
possible contract. This was a while ago, Morota, not recently. And he brought it up, really. The other thing maybe I should mention is it's tendrils. It can grab multiple people, multiple people against him and will slowly pull you in. Now, as I was talking to Cedric, I said an idea might be that you tether yourself before you get close. So there's a rope between you and something solid, like more rock.
01:02:38
Speaker
It is a solitary future as well. It's just going to be one-on-one with this as well, so all your attention can be drawn to the single source and this thing. There are other things you can help yourself to make this better, but I unfortunately don't know them. You'll need to find an old acquaintance of ours, and she looks at Marotta and Nix, someone we know quite well from a while ago.
01:03:10
Speaker
It's an old gal, and she winces after setting the face. Up on the hill, I visited not so long ago, a few weeks ago, and he, well, through the long conversations and questionable tea, he told me of this creature and did some divination stuff, saw into the skies and spoke of, and he muttered to himself and wrote it in a book. He'd know more. So maybe before you head south, maybe just pop by and visit him first.
01:03:41
Speaker
I'm always up for seeing old girl. Okay, old girl it is. I enjoyed our last interaction. Just tell him to be careful with that owl, if you be so kind. You know, the one that vomited acid? I make no promises. Okay, I mean, it sounded terrifying, so I just... She looks to you all. I'm gonna leave now, and I probably won't see you till you come back.
01:04:12
Speaker
I promise to keep my word, Marota, as long as you just keep this one. Come back in one piece, please, all of you. And she'll just nod and... I mean, nothing ever happens to me. And then she'll take herself out quite quickly, quite hurriedly out of the space and away to another part of God. Paul, keep leaving the five of you on your own.
01:04:44
Speaker
Right. The road. Old girl. I've picked up supplies that I've carried with us from Goldview ready for a journey, because I know we were planning on one. Other supplies are arriving later on today, but that's for the other folk around here. So all we'll look after keep and keep everyone in line. So are we setting off now on our
