We experience a lot of challenges in life. These challenges are not fun but are an important part of life and have many benefits once we overcome them.

In today's episode, I am sharing the recording of when I was the Youth Speaker for Real Quick Talk: a Youth-led online group that does daily devotional sessions with our church youth. I talked about what are the different resources God provides in times of storm. Tune in and learn what those are.

Divine Resources in Hard Times

00:00:46
Speaker
Okay, back at storm, I'm adding Tapi Kanina because that's our theme for tonight. Resources God provides in the times of storm.
00:01:00
Speaker
Okay. So let's go back to our text first. Chapter one versus one to seven. Okay, behind the verse. So the opening phrase of this verse may explain why Paul dwells so much on concepts.
00:01:29
Speaker
such as bravery and spiritual strength. If we look at 2 Timothy, our main focus is about bravery and strength. I say in fact, perhaps Timothy was content in his role of serving alongside Paul and did not prefer to be the outspoken leader of a large movement of Christians. And yet this was the role
00:01:55
Speaker
Timothy held in Ephesus at the time Paul wrote this letter. However, Paul urged Timothy to stand strong. Rather than fear, God had given him spirit or attitude of power and love and self-control. So, Timothy, if you don't believe in God, you will not be able to believe in God.
00:02:19
Speaker
spiritual son, Nia Apostle Paul. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own. So Nia is on his own.
00:02:55
Speaker
So he was challenged. So he was under a lot of pressure.

Personal Story: Delayed Graduation

00:03:17
Speaker
Let me tell you a confession, okay? I should have graduated, that but I graduated in the year 2009.
00:03:26
Speaker
2009. So almost 10 years later a home graduate. Why? Which is in Pampanga.
00:04:01
Speaker
I was like, what are you doing?
00:04:11
Speaker
It didn't turn out well. I was like trying to decide on my own. So that was the story.

Facing Life's Storms

00:04:40
Speaker
I am with you in my prayers and God did not give you a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind. So Timothy was on a lot of storms during this time. And this is why Apostle Paul is trying to remind him to continue and stay brave. Okay.
00:05:20
Speaker
I don't know how to say that. I don't know how to say it. I don't know how to say it. I don't know how to say it. I don't know how to say it. I don't know how to say it. I don't know how to say it. I don't know how to say it. I don't know how to say it. I don't know how to say it. I don't know how to say it. I don't know how to say it.
00:05:26
Speaker
So there are three types of storms.
00:05:53
Speaker
We feel that we are not doing enough for the ministry of the Lord. And that is true to all of us. Now this will always be this way since mankind fell.
00:06:14
Speaker
And then lastly is spiritual.
00:06:20
Speaker
It will always be this way. It can be emotional and it can be spiritual. And it will always be this way until Jesus returns.
00:06:42
Speaker
It's not like... No, it's normal. It's part of our spiritual life. It will always be this way either until we die or until Jesus returns.
00:06:56
Speaker
Okay, so think of that one storm. So I want you to think of that one storm that you are encountering or you have encountered before or currently encountering now. Whether physical, spiritual, or emotional.
00:07:19
Speaker
Okay. So storms are the result of sins in our lives. We inherited the sin.
00:07:48
Speaker
And God, God wants us to respond in a way that we can be victorious and strong. If we just change the way we look at the storms.

Spiritual Challenges and Faith

00:08:05
Speaker
If some of them are God's way, paratayu ai patatagin, and God did not just give us that storm, ndi lanyan bini bighayi sa atin a paayi nao nao nao nao nao nao saayi nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao nao.
00:08:39
Speaker
Okay, so when we face storms, that's normal. I mean, support system.
00:08:53
Speaker
I am a man upon a horn up on the mother and tie us among our own us mean son. Now I will I think it is. I think my lab, you know, long for title detail. You have a small house supply loaner home. I like it. I like it. I'm going to go down and I think begot about it in other than nothing.
00:09:09
Speaker
We lose our smile, we lose our joy. We lose our hope. This is just a book. It's just written by a few people and then compiled by some scholars and all that.
00:09:36
Speaker
And then, and as we go along, we start to stop reading the Bible. Why? Because we're questioning the truth. And then,
00:09:56
Speaker
And then we don't pray as often as we used to. Like the downfall, you're slowly falling down. And of course then our spiritual life gets colder and colder.
00:10:24
Speaker
And again this can happen to anybody.
00:10:27
Speaker
Even pastors, even pastors don't like suicide. In the excuse of the leader, in fact, in fact, most people don't like spiritual leaders. Because they are the target.
00:10:55
Speaker
So be very careful with that, you leaders, or even me too, like all of us, and we can be a leader to anyone. So again, this can happen to anybody. So what happens next? For example, what happens next? We go to our friends for comfort.
00:11:16
Speaker
We are born to respond to physical stuff.
00:11:40
Speaker
It's not just a cliche saying. All of us.
00:11:55
Speaker
So we go to our friends for comfort. That's fine if it's a spiritual friend. What if it's an unbeliever friend? So we go to our friends for comfort. And the next thing we know we are already backsliding.

Consequences of Not Overcoming Storms

00:12:30
Speaker
So that's what happens if we don't successfully or victoriously go through the storms of life. We are out of the fellowship with God. You are completely miles away from God. You are out of fellowship with the Lord.
00:12:51
Speaker
Yeah, the devil is our enemy and he will definitely throw calls in our doubts and fears. You are slowly getting colder.
00:13:21
Speaker
Fini feed bayon utak datin, causing us to question everything.
00:13:53
Speaker
So our fear in the times of storm results in inability to think and act wisely. Amen.
00:14:07
Speaker
And I thought, I know you're emotionally filled with worries, for example.
00:14:33
Speaker
You will worry of course. Then you will, because you worry a lot, worry and fear, and then it will affect your ability to think and act wisely.
00:15:11
Speaker
Because again, you have the fear in you and so it's affecting your ability to think and act wisely.

Growth Through Adversity

00:15:18
Speaker
And then you become indecisive, indecisive. And then it affects our capacity to complete tasks.
00:15:49
Speaker
Okay. So yeah, all of us, we are being affected. And then we also question our self-confidence.
00:16:02
Speaker
And then,
00:16:18
Speaker
It will also torment your emotions. Torment is like constant. So sometimes God allows these very difficult situations in our lives for us to grow. And especially for us to grow.

00:17:01
Speaker
So sometimes God allows these very difficult situations in our lives for us to grow. And especially for us to grow.
00:17:18
Speaker
And then these experiences, these situations will make you come out stronger as you get older also. And then as I get older, you will just look back and say, and I'm so happy that I was able to overcome it. Ganon, you will just look back and then smile and say,
00:17:45
Speaker
ah you will realize oh that's god's plan for me that's god's plan so that i would grow up okay and we need to feel them to grow up and then
00:18:12
Speaker
Hindi, we need to feel them to grow. And then you're just meh, and then
00:18:43
Speaker
So it's okay. It's okay to feel sad as long as you do not dwell. That's the word. As long as you do not dwell on it.
00:18:57
Speaker
As long as you don't dwell. And then your goal should be to come out stronger than you are before. Okay.
00:19:12
Speaker
Jesus is not always the prince of peace. Jesus is not always the prince of peace. He is also the source of conflict. Would you agree?
00:19:30
Speaker
Why? Because especially when we are in a relationship with people who do not believe in him, then it will really cause conflict. For example, for example, the church and parents are unbelievers. That's going to cause conflict. Why?
00:19:54
Speaker
And so Jesus is the cause of conflict in your family. Then that causes conflict to both of them.
00:20:15
Speaker
That causes a lot of conflict. Jesus is the cause of conflict. So again, Jesus is not always the Prince of Peace. He sometimes is the source of conflict. That's why it's very important that we choose our friends correctly.
00:20:43
Speaker
If someone who believes in Jesus, if they are a believer, then it is our part to share the gospel to them so that they will also believe in Jesus.

Trials Beyond Sin

00:20:52
Speaker
Not all trials are a result of sin. Trials come because we are believers.
00:21:05
Speaker
But not all of them are a result of sin. Some of them...
00:21:25
Speaker
So trials come because there is going to be separation. So church, those are parts of our trials. And it can happen not only in the church, but also within the family, outside the home, at work or in the church as well. So that's according to Dr. Charles Stanley.
00:21:53
Speaker
So Paul reminded Timotena to steer up the gift of God, which is in you. Or in other translations, Kin del afresh, the gift of God, which is in you. What does it mean to Kin del afresh? What does it mean to Kin del afresh?
00:22:27
Speaker
And then what does it mean to Ken de la fresh? For example, for example,
00:22:46
Speaker
Apostle Paul, kindle afresh. The kindle afresh means, Sabuyan muy anang gasoline, Sabuyan muy anang kerosene, Sabuyan muy anang gas. Para, kindle afresh. Para magliab muy, magliab namuy. Soyyan anang sinasabini, Apostle Paul kai anang. Timothi, kindle afresh. Ilia bin muy muy ang gift, or ang regalokaloo apna pangina on sayo.
00:23:10
Speaker
Okay, and then so these are the resources of God that God provides in our time of storms in 1 Timothy chapter 1 verse 7.

Gifts of Power, Love, and Sound Mind

00:23:20
Speaker
God has not given us the spirit of fear, power, love, and sound mind.
00:23:38
Speaker
power, love, and sound mind. So power, the power of the Holy Spirit. It seals us to eternity and enables us to live a godly life. Amen.
00:24:03
Speaker
And the Holy Spirit is in us. That's the power that we have.
00:24:20
Speaker
We all have the power and strength to live a Godly life because we have the Holy Spirit within us already.
00:24:34
Speaker
So that's why it's very important, according to Ephesians chapter 2 verse 10. Good works should come after salvation. That's the power of the Holy Spirit working in you. So again,
00:24:59
Speaker
So kindle that truth, stir up that truth. So God's word always has something good to say.
00:25:22
Speaker
That's why the Word of God says, go back, back to the Bible, go back to the Bible. Whatever it is you're experiencing, go back to the Word of God. Next, second resource is love. When we are walking in the Spirit of God, then His love is in our hearts. So rekindle it in there.
00:25:39
Speaker
There may be times in our lives that we feel like nobody cares. Especially the youth. But God's love is in us. This is a lie that the enemy wants us to think.
00:26:23
Speaker
We don't have just the Holy Spirit. We also have the love of God in us. Okay, this is the lie that the enemy wants us to think. But again,
00:26:32
Speaker
God loves us. So there will always be times that we feel alone, we feel unloved and unsupported, but God's relationship with us will never fall apart. Always go back to God, back to God.
00:26:55
Speaker
Third is a sound mind. Sound mind means a disciplined mind, a disciplined life. What is a disciplined life? It is a life that is under control. It is a life that faces difficulty.
00:27:23
Speaker
It is the life that overcomes hardships, faces trials, and defeats troubles.
00:27:45
Speaker
dios, and still stands unmoved. Unmovable, and then always abounding in the work of the Lord. Unmoved.
00:28:06
Speaker
problems in every trouble that we are facing. And we can only do that with the help of God.
00:28:23
Speaker
So still said, why? Because we are resting. Anongat, we are resting.

Steadfast Faith in Troubling Times

00:28:28
Speaker
The reason why we have sound mind is not because of our own strength, but because we have the power and the love of God. That's why they always come together. God did not give us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind, and they always go together.
00:28:50
Speaker
Whatever happens, we can stand strong as long as we have these three resources. A disciplined life is a life committed to the Almighty God and does not waver with the wins or the false doctrines.
00:29:06
Speaker
And that is against what the Bible says. And in fact, means anti-Omar Christiano.
00:29:30
Speaker
So discipline, let's be strong with that. That's an everyday struggle. An everyday struggle to sing a secular song. An everyday struggle to post on TikTok. That's an everyday struggle.
00:29:49
Speaker
And that's why we should not waver. We should not waver with the winds. We are standing strong because we have again what? The power, love, and sound mind that God has given us.
00:30:07
Speaker
And when everything around us becomes unglued, falls apart, everything is falling apart. There's always, there's only one place to go. And that is on our knees in the word of God, trusting him.
00:30:30
Speaker
Again, on our knees, trusting God. And on our knees, in the Word of God, trusting Him. God is going to solidify our position. He will give us confidence.
00:30:51
Speaker
You will give us boldness. And He will provide assurance. What is our assurance? What is our main hope? That is to be with God throughout eternity. And these challenges, they're just temporal.
00:31:07
Speaker
So let's not be swayed away. So let's not be swayed away. So let's not be swayed away.
00:31:43
Speaker
No, we can't bring anything to God that's too big or too heavy for him. That's why God said, take by your
00:31:51
Speaker
because my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Nothing is too difficult for the Lord. Some people think it's crazy that every time we have storms, no matter what the world thinks,
00:32:16
Speaker
God is the answer. Let's go back to God and let's rather be wrong but right in the sight of God than be right in the world but wrong with God.

Conclusion and Listener Engagement

00:32:44
Speaker
Let's rest in the promise that God gives us the power, love, and sound mind.
