Introduction & Challenges Ahead

00:00:00
Speaker
Oh, I think there's gonna be a lot of challenges in my mind. Although I'd hate to be in yours.

Welcome to 'The Fellowship of the Tabletop'

00:00:32
Speaker
Hello, welcome to this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are live from a 5B D&D podcast set in the magical world of Aerith. My name is Mark, I'm the Dungeon Master, and also with us for today's very special episode, we have...
00:00:44
Speaker
Casey, who plays the human champion, Helen the Sleepguard. Hello. And we've got Danny, who plays the human cleric, Claude. Bonjour. And that is everyone we've got for this session. Where did they go? Who knows? Where did you go? Where did we go? We are recording in person, which feels odd to say for the first time in months and months and months in an aerated room at government distance guidelines.
00:01:10
Speaker
We've got a good mic, it's sat in the middle and we're very far apart, let's put that one. Thank you very much for joining us on this

Recap: The Blight Battle

00:01:16
Speaker
episode. I might ramble a bit, Ian's not here to keep me online really, so this is what will happen. So, if you remember guys from about two episodes ago, Helena at the end of a battle
00:01:28
Speaker
in the snow, in the scalaroid mountains, was stood next to Drago who was beating the hell out of this demon corpse and some of the internal organs pretty much splattered out onto her face, inside of which was some element of the blight which straight away kind of infected her brain in through her ear.
00:01:46
Speaker
almost, uh, Animorph's style, if anyone's ever seen one of the books. Hey, books. Shout out to the Animorph books. Um, and she went down, and then all of a sudden, Akiva called upon Claude to enter into her mind.

Journey into Helena's Mind

00:02:01
Speaker
All the characters seem to be entering into each other's mind recently, which is a bit disturbing. Anyway, Akiva called it claw to go into her mind and kind of save her from herself. The blight watched the mind as well as the body as this expression that's being used over and over again, really. So the idea being is that this blight can infect your conscience as well as your physical manifestation of the body as well. So claw was sent in by Akiva to rescue Helena from herself or at least help her inside the mind of herself.
00:02:29
Speaker
whilst the rest of the group had to kind of press on and chase Elthea to finding the Onyx Reaver at the past the Skull Road Verdant, which as you know had been destroyed. Sorry guys, you didn't know that.
00:02:41
Speaker
a bit burned up. What? I know, you didn't really know what a scurried verdant was, I'm sure, but it's now dropped off. So, we both kind of left you both in this, in darkness, pretty much, on the edge of a doorway, and nothing really around. Helena, you'd see in the face of your brother, Lucian, and Claude, you'd see in the outline of Helena, I believe. Anyway, I'll, we'll make it work, either way. So,
00:03:09
Speaker
Ellen, what can I leave from your perspective for now? I'm glad you're coming just after it. So as you approach this doorway, the face of your brother, Lucian, who had been standing there slowly kind of disappears. Get used to things disappearing slowly in this episode. You peer into the door as it opens up and you see a small corridor in front of you. Suddenly you have the feeling you're being watched.
00:03:30
Speaker
and not from inside this corridor but from behind you. And you spin around and make out a glint from the blue light that comes from this corridor of a beard and clunking heavy armour. You see Claude kind of clunk into view of you. Claude, is that you? I think so. Where are we? Are we dead? I don't know. I don't know where we are. We're just... Well, it's dark.
00:03:58
Speaker
I was with everybody and now I'm here. I just thought maybe I was alone. I didn't know someone else would be joining me. I didn't think that we... I thought we were on a mountain. Are we in a dream? Well, I didn't really think that could happen.
00:04:15
Speaker
Perhaps. I've never shared a dream of anyone before princess and if you see a big bunny rabbit run away. Listen Claude I don't think it's going to be a pretty dream if that exists. Yeah if the bunny rabbit's here it's going to be a nightmare. Well if you're here and I'm here who else could be here?

Surreal Explorations & Memories

00:04:40
Speaker
Maybe... maybe everyone else is here too. Maybe... maybe Drago and Robin and Folly and Karstan. I'm sure we'd hear them. We'd definitely hear Karstan. Yes, he doesn't stop talking. Should we shout out? No, no. I think you're being quite loud as it is, so... I'm sorry. Plus your armour. Yeah, I don't know, yeah. Yeah. Just try and be quiet. I will.
00:05:06
Speaker
Shall I peek in or not like the nut? Shall I have a little look? Yes, I will follow your lead, Princess. I don't really know which way to go. I have an idea. And I'm going to flourish a light in my hand and place it in the hand of Helena.
00:05:29
Speaker
and then summon another one in mind. So we've got two sort of floating globes of light. Awesome thing. I like torches. It's actually magical torches. Brilliant. Yeah, and as you do that, instantly it lights up. You notice how...
00:05:42
Speaker
absorbent the darkness is around you and you can almost see the the outline shape almost like a candle esque around where you are but the light does go into the corridor slightly and as you do poke your head in Helena and have a look around there's a couple of things that happen a lot once in terms of your senses you firstly hear an echoing in the distance it sounds cavernous almost but the corridor seems quite small literally in front of you is a wall it goes both way
00:06:08
Speaker
are but in front of you is just a wall and it's about three or two feet in width pretty much. What sort of building work is it? It's a like... funny thing you mentioned, yes it is stonework. So you can hear this echo in firstly in the distance and you can notice the sound of voices whispering but really distant like the slight sibilant s sounds every now and then and kind of like ASMR kind of stuff but really really distant stuff. And what's weird about it is you're sure they're talking about you
00:06:35
Speaker
Oh. You have no idea why. You can't make out anything that's being said, but you're almost certain. They're talking about you can feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up on these voices. You can hear them. You can't hear a word that's being said. But every now and then you hear this low voice sing a refrain from a sea shanty, a song dedicated to your brother, the hero of Sleet Guard, called Heavus Up, which is dedicated to Lucien.
00:06:57
Speaker
And this repeats, but you hear it down at different pitches and different cadences, like the person singing it is either moving away or changing some way each time the refrain is sung. It's a little kind of intermittent burst of these lines you hear and the whispering, and then the whispering will kind of fade off and just the voice on its own. So the sea shanty was sort of like, it sounded quite like slow and like, oh god, do you know when you have
00:07:27
Speaker
You know, some of the musics, some of the musics in today's world, where they make the tone of the voice really low. Yeah, changing the pitch. It sounded like that, so I'm wondering, can I make out that that's the sea shanty being sung, or does it just sound like noise? No, you can make out the sea shanty being sung. It's quite a well-known song, especially it's sung by anyone who owns a ship.
00:07:53
Speaker
who comes from Sweet God would know that. Okay. C shanty. Okay. And you can recognize it quite clearly. There's a bit where he kind of says Lucy and Blightbane in the chorus as well. So you can, you can hear that quite clearly. The air is still
00:08:11
Speaker
smell lavender and rosemary but it's tinged with something acidic and unpleasant which seems to get up your nose every now and then. The lighting is low but lifted now because of your torches but on the roof there seems to emanate this bluish haze that breaks through at different moments almost like light breaking through water when you look up and realise the surface is further away than you thought and that you might be out of your den.
00:08:35
Speaker
And on the floor and walls, there are etchings and draw rings. Some are ornate, some are amateur, and some of them you recognise. There's also a mix of architecture with pillars from the Heral Empire, stone from Sleetguard, tiles from a sangling land and a layer of sound in the corners from the Drolak. And instantly, even though you wouldn't necessarily know this straight off the way, almost like a dream, you instantly can make that assumption. You make that connection almost straight away, a lot of these things.
00:09:07
Speaker
to know that's where it's from. And this seems to continue along both ends of the corridor as you look both ways through the corridor. And if you look on roll 20, you will see your corridor in front of you.

Navigating the Mind Maze

00:09:20
Speaker
You have actually a small corridor in front of you, and then the corridor breaks off to the left and to the right, to the east and to the west. It's up to you which way you want to go. It's up to you how you want to go about walking around this place of unfuggable places as we go. But it's up to you really to have a little wonder.
00:09:36
Speaker
Describe where you're going. And so with these, the voices and the whispering, both of us can hear this. You can ask. Claude, what's that noise? Yes, you can hear it. I could have just said yes. I thought it was some sort of prayer. Prayer? No, it's a sea shanty. I recognise it.
00:10:01
Speaker
They're speaking of my brother. I saw my brother before I came here. It's got something to do with him. I just don't know where we are and I don't know how we're gonna get back. Maybe he's in this dream too. But surely we can't both be in a dream. It's impossible.
00:10:18
Speaker
I mean... Is this some sort of magic that Folly's done, or...? Possibly, he did want to kill me. I didn't think lizards could talk and, you know, do what Drago does, but they can. So, anything is possible. You're saying anything possible? I guess... Are you scared? No. Are you?
00:10:47
Speaker
Now, insight check to see if you're scared. Absolutely, yeah, roll for insight. Do you want to roll, Casey, do you want to roll deception or persuasion against it, whichever you feel? I assume it'd be deception. If it's deception, it's minus one. From the way you delivered it, it sounds like you were deceiving. I'm gonna say it's gonna have to be deception, isn't it?
00:11:11
Speaker
That's fine. That's an 18. 19. You can see through the kind of wide pupils, open eyes, lots of the whites of the eyes. You can see past it. She covers it well, but you can see something slightly different. You've traveled with her for a while now and something's, something's haunting her, something's getting at her slightly more than usual, absolutely. Princess, I am scared, but I know that you'll protect us.
00:11:36
Speaker
Well, Claudia, I know we haven't been on the best of terms recently and you're probably not the person that I'd like to have this experience with but yet here we are and I will try my hardest to protect you no matter what differences we have in terms of religion or beliefs or faith or whatever it is. Well, thank you. I will make sure nothing happens to you as a Knight of the God. Thank you. I know the relationship you've had with my father
00:12:07
Speaker
I respect you, Claude. I just didn't agree with you. Listen, we can talk about this at a different time. We need to see where this noise is coming from. Let's get out of the dream, yeah. Would you like to go that way or that way? Let's take a left.
00:12:26
Speaker
Left. Which one's that one? That's that way. Okay. Okay, so you're taking yourself down to the left. You quickly realise as you turn that left corner that it turns very quickly right and takes you north quite some way. So feel free to move your character as you should be able to shift. Do you want to go first or should I go first? And before he's even asked, she's marched off. Okay.
00:12:51
Speaker
right behind you the path takes you about 20 or 30 feet or so up and it seems to open up into a slightly larger room again you still have these ornate etchings on the walls and floors some of these you do even recognize as drawings that you have done as a child as well pictures and etchings and things like that you kind of recognize the style that's being done the space opens up slightly and you see stood in the center of it as you come around the corner
00:13:17
Speaker
what should be a relatively small alcove, actually opens up almost like you're looking through the wall into a different place in a different time. You see the statue of King Leopold Sleekard in Evershire standing before you. So, Helena, you haven't been there in years and years, but Claude, this is the one that you put the hex on and sent Darren to help you. You see that statue standing in front of you. A large statue stands in the center of the square.
00:13:45
Speaker
You can see buildings etch around the edge, but you can't make out what they are. A weathered bronze statue poses on a plinth which holds the name King Leopold Sleepguard II. There's a question mark that's been forcefully etched after the word sleepguard. So it's kind of like King Leopold Sleepguard.
00:14:07
Speaker
It kind of turns the opposite direction to the way you're walking, Dodd. You see the back of a statue of a grand human with a stern expression holding a great sword high in the air. You see scratches at the back of the statue, plinth. When the wind blows, the kingdoms crumble. The statues head and eyes after a moment move and look at you both. The mouth crunches open through the bronze and begins to speak. Ask me, daughter.
00:14:35
Speaker
What you must know and I will answer is looking directly at you, Helena. Father? In a way. What do you mean? Where am I? Where are we? What's happened? More questions than I can answer. Sorry. Where are we? We are in your mind. Fuck. Language, Helena. Remember?
00:15:07
Speaker
Then what are we doing here? That depends entirely on the way in which you approach this place. Depends on the choices you choose and the path you ultimately take. It depends on what? I told you that. You wouldn't have to experience it. So then how can you help me?
00:15:30
Speaker
I can't much save, tell you to follow your heart, but know that there are bigger things than you in this world, Helena. I know that. I don't... I've been on this journey to save my mother. It's not for me, it's not for my benefit. There are bigger things even than your mother in this place. This place being my mind?
00:16:03
Speaker
Remember that, when the time comes, you will be offered a choice. Remember that. And without the statue's head turns to Claude. Am I all taking a knee during all this? Lovely, yeah, I thought so. You feel the conversation end and you feel the gaze come upon you. And Claude, as you're looking down, you notice the ground
00:16:26
Speaker
changes slightly, moves ever so slightly everything's very ethereal and moves and what you do start to notice is you can see at the corner of your eyes some of the etchings change slightly and flip and change and as you look over you see it switch to some of the drawings you've done at the party previously and then change back to the previous drawings that were before and the voice comes from the statue again ask me servant of sleep guard what you must know and I will answer hum
00:16:55
Speaker
Is there anybody else in this place? In a mind, many things can happen, servant of the sleep car. The self. Well, do you believe your physical body is here?

Advice and Apparitions

00:17:10
Speaker
I don't know.
00:17:13
Speaker
Therein is your answer. Okay, I only have one more question. Proceed, servant of Steedgard. How do I make sure the princess is safe? Make sure she has the time to make the right decisions for her and for you. Entering into the mind of another intrinsically bonds you
00:17:43
Speaker
This will become your maze too, Claude, unless you are careful. Oh, I fell in this one by accident, I think. Well, if I remember correctly, Akiva asked and you do degree, so joke's on you. No, this is okay. The statue doesn't respond.
00:18:03
Speaker
are too intimidated to speak to the, because I assume that's the King's voice that I'm hearing in response, so yeah. A lifetime of only speaking when spoken to and not speaking too much just, yeah, kicks in and I just don't say very much after that, but continue to keep the knee.
00:18:24
Speaker
And after that conversation happens, the statue returns to its previous state for the long sort of the broad sort of high in the sky and doesn't move anymore. And what you notice then is the Evershire disappears, the walls return and the statue crumbles and all that's left now is just sand on the floor of this small alcove space. There's a short corridor off to the right that ends in a dead end.
00:18:57
Speaker
What would you like to do? Um, Princess, your father was saying some very hard to understand things, but I understand this. I've got to go wherever you go. So where would you like to go, girl? I did hear what my father said to you. Good. And I also didn't understand as much as you, perhaps, everything.
00:19:26
Speaker
I was hoping you'd understand everything. No. Yes, if we're in my mind and you're with me, then you'll have to follow me, I'm sure. And it's something that we're going to have to achieve together. Maybe when we come out, things might be different. Yeah. I suggest we take the northern path.
00:19:48
Speaker
I'm with you princess. And as you start walking up the northern pass this continues up quite some way before you realise again it takes a sharp right turn to the east. I take a peer round? Yeah of course and as you do peer round you see it come to a dead end but at the very far end of this you see a figure slumped up against the wall with one arm leaning up against it with his back to you. Lucian? You always used to call me that.
00:20:17
Speaker
What do you think I should call you now? Perhaps my name. Which is? Sebastian, your other brother. The one you always would forget. And it turns around and it is your younger brother, Sebastian's sleep guard, with a bottle of wine in one hand. It's fantastic to see you again. Oh, you have a new boyfriend. He looks dashing. He's not my boyfriend. You must remember Claude.
00:20:49
Speaker
No. No. So you think this is helping you and your lifestyle is now drinking? Slurring words? Insulting people? I sound like mother. I can't think that that's a bad thing. Oh, it is. Why? Well, you know, if you'd hung around a bit longer before dallying off.
00:21:14
Speaker
To the Horale Empire, you would have seen things. Oh, and what things have you seen, Sebastian? Well, Mum and Dad weren't the happiest. You should have known that, surely. All that they've been doing is trying to care for us. Yes, caring for themselves and caring for their empire and caring for the ground. But you never did care for Mother and Father.
00:21:33
Speaker
You were always excited about yourself, doing things for you. Nobody else mattered. You can see why they might not have given you the time of day. Was I wrong? Does anyone else matter aside from yourself? Listen, I'm sorry that I might not have given you time. Not that. I didn't want you to spend time with me. You spent time with yourself. You never did anything for yourself. You were always doing this for mother, that for father.
00:22:05
Speaker
You even cut off your arms and be like him if you could any more than you could, but you couldn't, because we had two arms, didn't you? And he doesn't, so... How about you try and help me out of my mind? No, no, yeah. I'll give you something I've been told and allowed to say to you, but don't tell anyone else. Okay, I'm... I can't put Claudric in there. I'm listening. With the beard and...
00:22:33
Speaker
Nothing here is real. Okay. But none of it is an illusion either. Okay, that doesn't really help me out as fast as you can. And he kind of puts the bottle down. This place will tell you of things what may come to pass. But in showing you it, the line ahead may blur as knowledge will always colour the future.
00:23:02
Speaker
I should write that down. I should not have said that. And then after a couple of breaths, he just disappears again in front of you leaving just a dead end. And I will sort of run to him, Sebastian, trying to grab him. And the last thing that kind of remains before again it dissolves is this bottle of wine on the floor without a label that just disappears again on your left at the end of a dead end.
00:23:31
Speaker
I'll turn to Claude. Was that your brother? Yes, Sebastian, do you remember him? He was only a little sprout when I saw him last. Yes, not so much of a sprout now. No, he likes the drinky drink by the looky look of it. So do you, you. I was doing you. I like milk. Do you? You always seem quite drunk to me. I've never drunk alcohol in my life. Why is that?
00:24:00
Speaker
It does things that make people strange. Well, evidently. You sure you don't put something in your milk? No, just cows. Sometimes goats. You don't put them in your milk though, that's where you get them from, right? You get the milk from the cow. I ask people if they've got any milk and they give me some I assume a cow or a goat's involved. Okay, yes. Right, well he said knowledge will always colour the future.
00:24:30
Speaker
I'm not too sure about what that might mean. Again, maybe we need to go back on ourselves. We can't go forward this way. Yeah. Do you have anything you'd like to add to this? Knowledge will colour the future. Yes. Well, it seems obvious. You know, the more you know, the more you can achieve with every passing day. But surely it means something else. What you've just said sounds very wise.
00:25:01
Speaker
I don't know. I'm just saying what he said. I think that I'm going to struggle here. If everything is so hard to understand. Oh, I think there's going to be a lot of challenges in my mind. Although I'd hate to be in yours, so I'm glad we are in mine. Just turn around. We'll go back on ourselves and see which way we can go. OK. Of course. Why don't we follow you? Oh, but this is your mind, Princess. I wouldn't. Oh, fine. And she'll just pass him.
00:25:31
Speaker
Okay, and you're going all the way south, back to basically where you came from, right at the very beginning. And now you have the choice, that kind of right turn, if you were to go the opposite direction from when you came. You've got the door that you came in through on your right and ahead of you as a long corridor. There is a kind of a ten-foot passageway to the left view, so north, and there is
00:25:55
Speaker
go with the left door. Okay so as you peek your head around the left you notice the corridor splits again into two ways east and west to the east very quick dead end which you imagine there's gonna be quite a few of to the left it goes about 15 20 feet and then takes a sharp northern turn
00:26:19
Speaker
Claude, can you stay close please? Yes, of course. Princess. And I'm going to walk along the left to get, because we can see that there's a dead end to the right, so walk along to the left. Yep. And yep, peer around. And as you see that, you see it goes up for another 15 metres, 15 feet or so, then takes a sharp right.
00:26:36
Speaker
Are there still etchings all on the floor? Yeah, same etchings. Nothing's really changed yet. Still the nice blue haze. You can still hear the whispering. The whispering seems to, whenever you come across these moments of other things that are taking place, they all dissipate and almost disappear. You don't notice them as much. And then almost, maybe because of the silence, it brings it back up again. The volume increases again.
00:26:57
Speaker
The corridor goes over quite some distance to the east, but you can see all the way along it, to the north there's one entrance, to the south there's a big entrance, and then there's another one to the north a bit further along, so it's kind of like a fork shape as well. I'm sorry Claude, I moved you and not me. So there's a couple of entrances here, ways you can go, which might you want to take. So you've got the first north, the second north, or the south? Let's take the south.
00:27:25
Speaker
Okay, and as you go round the corner to the south, this maze continues and you see a long dead end to the west of you and a corridor going to the east that takes a sharp north turn. You've also got the two northern entrances still as well. Claude, what do you suggest? I, in situations like this, I like to follow my nose
00:27:54
Speaker
Where's your nose telling you to go? Can you smell anything down that corridor? Well, I can just smell lavender and rosemary and something a bit strange. What can you smell? Well, can you smell lavender and rosemary and some of them are strange in any other direction? Yes, it's all around and the voices, they're saying something. What do you want? I'll shout at them. And for a second the voices dipped down before coming back up again.
00:28:21
Speaker
Are they not making you uncomfortable? No, I've been to the plane of the Eternal Dead and it was darker and scarier than this, I think. Okay, well then why aren't you leading us? Because this isn't something I'm familiar with. This is your mind, Princess. I wouldn't want to lead us through your mind. It's rude. I don't think there's a rule book for it.
00:28:46
Speaker
Um, okay. Just, you said about your nose. What are you smelling right now that perhaps I might not be? Is there any, am I getting the same smells that she's describing? Yes, you are. And you can do an investigation check if you want to see. Yeah, is there any direction smells stronger of those things? Or any direction that sound is louder? Yeah, do you want to give me an investigation for that? Uh, no.
00:29:09
Speaker
The perception check. Yes. Ooh. Twenty-two. Twenty-two, lovely. You... The smell of lavender and rosemary increases on the first north path. The other two, it doesn't smell. It smells the same, but there, as you walked past it, you got almost like a waft of someone walking opposite direction with those smells from that corridor. My keen senses of smell suggest that maybe we should take the northern route we just went past.
00:29:37
Speaker
Okay, so let's do that. Okey-dokey. Okay, and as you take up that northern route, who goes first? I can go first. Okay, Helena, what you see in front of you is a large room that opens up. It has an exit on the east about halfway up. It's probably about 30 foot by 30 foot square. A passageway straight through to the north and a passageway through to the west. The other two walls are filled. In the centre of the room though,
00:30:06
Speaker
You see a circular plinth that looks older and of a style that you've never seen before, either of you. It looks like a form of marble, but it's dimmer, yet it emanates a magical aura which fills you with a sense of power and dread. Upon the plinth is an ornate stone lectern with a number of glyphs and symbols drawn into it. These you do not recognise at all, Helena. They're not in English either, what would be common. Upon the lectern sits a closed book which is a
00:30:36
Speaker
and has white etchings upon it, similar to the etchings on the lecto. There's a thick layer of dust on everything and the smell has increased. Now you can now smell it too, Helen, the smell of lavender, the smell of rosemary, quite powerful. The whispering has gotten louder a few more as well. It looks a bit like electricity. Is it like that or is it more just like this power, like an orb?
00:31:02
Speaker
It's just a plinth with a lectum of the book on it, but the many you entered in the room, they're almost like you felt it. You felt the sense of like, you're powerful, but also you're terrified at the same time, a combination of both. Adrenaline starts to kind of leak their way into both your systems. But there's no specific point. You assume it's something to do with this

The Book and Lucien's Guidance

00:31:21
Speaker
thing. There's nothing else in the room aside from that as well. Could I do a Eyes of the Grave to see if I get any undead?
00:31:29
Speaker
Pings. Absolutely, yeah, give me that. And, oh yeah, it's a rolling thing for me. There, you get no reading of the undead at all. What's odd about it though is you don't get a reading of anything. Or even like a faint, normally you get a faint thing where you pick up skeletons. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But you don't get anything, it's just absolute mute. Okay. But Claude, you know in dreams where you know you're in a dream and you do things that perhaps you wouldn't usually do in reality?
00:31:56
Speaker
Yeah, like find your brother drunk in a dark corridor. Well, no, not necessarily. And the stature of your talking dad. No, I didn't mean that. I meant I'm feeling something now in this room and all I want to do is touch this thing. I tell you what, why don't you... And I feel that if it's a dream, it can't affect me in reality. I sort of recognise those etchings, but... But what do they say? I can't read.
00:32:27
Speaker
And Helena is going to be sort of walking around this plinthy thing, circling it to see how it looks, if she gets different pulses from it or if there's a
00:32:45
Speaker
a gap in it that she, I don't know, she can see something, or because it's now, she's aware that if she is in her mind, or she's starting to come round to that idea, that actually she's in control, and whatever happens is really down to her, and that's how she's starting to... Okay, perfect, okay, and as you start, do you want to give me an investigation? Yeah. With advantage, as we are in your mind. As you're rolling, I'm going to cast Protection from Good and Evil, from Evil and Good on, to sort of just give her a shield of anything,
00:33:34
Speaker
tries to possess.
00:33:39
Speaker
The energy seems to be the same and perpetuates all the way around. However, as you move around the lectern, you can see the book clearly and there are engines over it, but there are some words in common on the cover, which just says, the world away. Okay.
00:33:53
Speaker
Now, we've got to be very careful around. I'm going to reach out to this book. Okay. Are you talking to me? Just be careful around books because Robin has a thing of books where he turns into them and I have had a moderate success getting people out of books. But I have applied some magic upon you and hopefully you don't do a Robin. So you're saying I shouldn't take this book? I would never tell you what to do. All I'm saying is be careful and I put protective spells on you.
00:34:23
Speaker
Well then I should be fine. And she's just gonna reach out and touch the book. And as you touch the book, for a second you get this pulse of energy which hits against the spell that you've put up, the good and evil spell. And then it seems to, you can almost see it arcing and bending under the energy and something pierced through and suddenly both of you, the scene dissolves like sand blowing in the wind at all. The entire thing goes as a moment of silence. And then a new image just comes crashing, almost like a single frame change crashing into view. This is a scene you've never witnessed before.
00:34:53
Speaker
It's an image of all-out war, but not mortals fighting mortals, but fighting the undead. The ground is blistered with scorch marks and the signs of the unliving. You see near you signs of this undulating green moss pressing into marks of the blight. A fight against nature seems to be waging here as well. The smell of sulfur fills your noses as you look to your surroundings. You see cake.
00:35:24
Speaker
guard, obsidianus, black mouth rangers fighting incalculable hordes of the undead that seem to pulse in waves against ranks of the unliving. Quickly the mortal ranks break and small arms combat ensues. These creatures move with speed unmatched and clawed. You wouldn't recognise per se the creatures but the atmosphere in the area very similar to that of Bleakmaw.
00:35:46
Speaker
of just the total almost comes to terms with the fact that you will lose this battle. You find yourselves in the middle of this battlefield with a fight for the living taking place. And ahead of you, you can see what must be the central point for these creatures. It seems to hold some importance. A tower juts out of the ground and it seems to be of sleep guard architecture, but corrupted.
00:36:11
Speaker
From the top of this tower, you can see deep red, orange and yellow arcs of lightning snapping and reaching up into the sky. And as your eyes follow this energy up, you see something that makes you both take in a strong inhalation of breath. From that tower alone, you both recognise this as
00:36:30
Speaker
what used to be called Svenberg Citadel, which was then given the new name of Brittlestar, which is, you now know that you are in a part of Blight controlled territory, or at least you recognise that tower used to be Svenberg Citadel, renamed as Brittlestar once the Blight took over.
00:36:49
Speaker
So it's almost like you're back in some form of a reality. So how long ago was it Salonsburg Citadel? Eight or nine years ago, give or take. It was renamed only about four or five years ago. And as your eyes look up and you take the strong inhalation of breath, you see a giant swirling ring of this energy that's formed above the tower, pulsing, sparking, emanating such heat from such a distance that you hadn't experienced it before. And then you hear a voice
00:37:17
Speaker
Shout over, almost echoing from where you were previously. You hear him just shouting... Into the rift, Helena! Close the rift! Stab through the book! What's Lucien's voice? It's Lucien, it's your brother.
00:37:33
Speaker
you recognise it straight away. And as you look down, Helena, in your hands you see the book that says the world away upon it, the red covered book, the glyphs that are now written around it in white start to start, emanate more and more light and energy from it. And in your other hand you hold up what looks like a strange and ancient blade, a black dagger in your hand. As you spin around to the voice you can see him, bloodstained, battle weary,
00:37:59
Speaker
He points to the tower with his flail, which replaced his right hand not five years ago. And your eyes follow to where he's pointing a massive pair of ground doors at the base of this tower. What do you want to do? Lucian, now? Go now! And he turns, he releases the flail from his arm.
00:38:19
Speaker
lost his forearm and he has a clip, a kind of a little lever which releases this almost, he always used to think of it like a small anchor for a boat and it releases that, and it's just chain. He swings it from his shoulder joint and just starts absolutely coming in through his under around you, swinging out at like a tiny foot radius around him before kind of pulling it back in and then fighting close combat and shouting for you to go now. And it's Claude next to me. Claude is next to you as well. So he wants me to start the book. He said,
00:38:46
Speaker
He said into the rift. Does that mean go through the doors or does that mean stab the book? He did say stab the book. Stab the book. And then run? And at the rift, stab through the book at the rift. No, no, no. We need to get to the rift with the book and the black dagger. So where's the rift, Claude? In the tower. Right, so we will run, run, run, run, run. Yeah. We'll be running.
00:39:10
Speaker
Okay, and you're running towards it, and as you do that, you're literally passing scenes of carnage as sleep guardian soldiers are slain, but everyone seems to be paying attention to their own small combat, and you manage to make your way through this towards the

Battle Against the Undead

00:39:23
Speaker
door. Sorry, is it like we're running through a pastime? Or is it like, is it like a memory that is, like it's like something that's already happened? Or is this something that's happening now? Or is it just something that I've just created in my mind? You have no memory of this.
00:39:39
Speaker
happening in the past. You have no memory of what's happening in the past. Is it like an active field where we, like, are we genuinely running through this? Or is it more like we're on a travelator or on a VR headset where it's moving past us? You are running through this. So for all percents and purposes, if we didn't know everything else, we'd think this is a reality. You didn't know what was going on. You assume this is reality. It feels that real, the smell, the light, the sound, everything.
00:40:08
Speaker
The adrenaline you get from war. It's all there and it feels real. It feels real. The only thing reason you know it's not real is because you're aware of what's going on. And it feels very much like when dreams just jump you from place to place. And you go, oh yeah, I'm in this new place now. That's the feeling you've got. You should not have a new map. And if you scroll right to the south, you should see you both there. You approach.
00:40:38
Speaker
this massive monolithic tower, and you come across a small courtyard in front of it, you notice more of these undead figures standing around, some on patrol, there's a series of steps up to the west, which seem to curl round the tower, but in front of you, directly in front of you, are these great grand doors with three of these creatures stood at the base of it. There are some more around you, this is where you
00:41:03
Speaker
This is where you need to get to. These undead characters all look very similar. They are these skeletal characters covered in armour. Old ancient armour with large, always viking-like helmets on, red piercing eyes and all of them always with two long axes in each arm. They look unlike the undead you seem
00:41:28
Speaker
and they seem to have a movement and a speed and a control about them that you aren't used to seeing from your undead experiences, both of you. You find yourself at the south of this and you basically stairs off to your left, up to the north and to the left, you need to get directly north.
00:41:45
Speaker
This stairway that seems to curl around the tower, you can't see where it goes, but you do see, just in your eyelid, three more walking down the stairs there. You need to get through those doors. Can I have you both roll the initiative, please? Oh, nice. Come, come, come, come. Straight into this. All right, I'm just gonna stop rolling with that one because that's doing me a disservice. How has everyone else came on without me healing?
00:42:16
Speaker
We'll find out. Oh gosh. As if he said that, that was so egotistical. No, I know that no one else is sort of helping out. How are you getting on without me? They do rely on you quite a lot and they don't actually realise it. I've got a whopping 13. 13? 17. So it's going to go Claude under Drabble.
00:42:41
Speaker
Helena is going to say to Claude, we have an issue. I'm holding a book and this dagger and I don't have any room for my weapons. Let me take them, I don't have anything. What are you gonna use? I don't use weapons. I'll pass them straight to Claude and get out both my flails. That's amazing, I can really picture that, that's great. Lovely if you pass over those two items to Claude and you release both flails. Yep, yep, yep. And in front of
00:43:14
Speaker
beings just turn around to see you and for the first time ever they make, they look at you and you realise now
00:43:21
Speaker
you are more kind of corporeal, you're more here, and they are gonna come at you as well, okay? They snarl at you so they know they're kind of aggressive, let's say that, and their bones start to shake and hear a rattle from the eye as they start to move. Claude, your turn's off the round. Two of them are in front of you, about 15 feet away, one opposite Helena, one opposite yourself, what would you like to do? So two questions. Are they focusing on Helena?
00:43:44
Speaker
like this is this is this is Helena's space so are these creatures fixating on her and I'm sort of subsidiary to it or do I get the sense that I'm also perceived as a threat they're both looking at you okay the other question is this whole thing where we jumped into the mind of Helena happened when I hadn't recovered any of the stuff that was stolen from the thingy before so do I not have any armor and not any shields like god no you are armored okay you are fully armored
00:44:12
Speaker
You have all your equipment. Because I never physically got the stuff back after that thing stolen. Consider it your mental projection of your physical self. That's what you've both done. You've projected what your mental self sees yourself as. Not like that, but you know what you're expected to be.
00:44:34
Speaker
It's in that respect you've got everything you would have. But we're going to treat it for this, because yes it is dreamy. Technically you'd be able to cast all your sixth or seventh level spells, so as many times as you'd like. We'll stick to spell spells. Yeah, I just thought am I anonymous because I don't have it. Right, so what happened is Claude will instinctively wanting to get between himself and get between Danger and the Princess will run in between these two local heroes here.
00:45:02
Speaker
uh and between the two undead so with one undead to my left one undead to my right i'm just going to summon upward a radiant and slam it into the ground so they both have to make calm saving throws please
00:45:17
Speaker
And the 17s. 17. So one of them resists, the other one is going to take 12 points of radiant damage. So it's on the left that's going to take the damage. Okay. And it takes the damage and half his arm off, got the fires off from the damage. The other one manages to get his axes up and kind of cover up their face and their body, protecting it from the most of the damage, from the radiant damage. They don't look particularly happy at this and they're both going to
00:45:49
Speaker
going to take a shot at you. The first one rolled, it's going to hit you with both axes here. The first one rolled a 8 against your armor class and then a 23 against your armor class. You're going to take 7 points of slashing damage from that one. The one that you attacked and caused some damage to is then going to have a go at 18 against your armor class and a 22 against your armor class. And you're going to take 10 points of slashing damage from that one. So then both come down and you're
00:46:14
Speaker
quite quickly, you must adopt who the other two axes land in because they're basically attacked at the same time. That's the end of their turn. You do notice though, Helena, across the distance further away, the other creatures haven't really noticed anything happening and they've kind of left you to your own devices at the moment. That is the end of their turn. Some of the other creatures on the stairs move down slightly as well. Helena, your turn. Yeah, I've got my two flowers on my hand.
00:46:39
Speaker
I'm going to say, okay, I'm ready, and then start flailing them around. I'm going to go for, as I'm swinging them together, so yeah, I'll, well, can I go for both of them? Can I try and do like a hit on the right, hit on the left? Like either side of the board? If you are diagonal, you are technically in range, it's a five foot range, you need to be in melee combat. You can stand directly behind the board and then try for the both. Yeah, absolutely, go for it.
00:47:05
Speaker
No, that's terrible. I said I wasn't going to start rolling on that one. That was a natural one. Oh, no. Yeah. That was a second natural one. You had two natural ones in a row? No, no, no. I've had one earlier. Oh, right. OK. I've got you now. Yeah. So that one's going to miss. Come on. I'm going to miss that last one. And then I've got a bonus action. No, he's got three more. Sorry. He's got two more. 18 plus 10. Which one are you attacking? I will attack left first. The one that's already been damaged? Yes. Lovely. Yeah. OK. That does it. OK. Great.
00:47:36
Speaker
that's an 11 but no it's not it's it's a nine it's a nine um yeah nine okay and as you quickly swing round you hit his right his left arm the axe and the arm just flies off so it seems to be now armless okay down to one yeah and then yeah going for the right hand one that 25 to hit yeah that hits
00:48:01
Speaker
eight. Lovely and as you hit this one you hit it right on the shoulder and it cracked into some of its bone kind of flying out of the side there. And then my bonus. Do you have a bonus attack with your hand? I'm going to do it to the right hand one. That's a 20 to hit. Yeah that hits.
00:48:22
Speaker
9 again for damage. Nothing but consistent. Nothing but consistent. So yeah she takes these two flails, gives them a little bit of a wind up and then takes the right one into the left skeleton and then the second one, the left one into the right one.
00:48:40
Speaker
Yeah. Sounds cool. But yeah, basically it crosses them over, bang, bang, and then another one, bang. Narrowing, narrowly missing, clawed on both of these attacks, because he managed to land them as well, and taken quite a bit of damage now, but they are still standing, top of the line, clawed. And still standing. I'm gonna cast Warden Bond on Helena. So, Helena, you have plus one to your AC. Okay. And plus one to all saving throws.

Protective Spells and Attacks

00:49:07
Speaker
You are resistant to all damage.
00:49:09
Speaker
So any damage you take is halved. Your plus one AC and plus one for saving throws. Any damage you do take, I also take.
00:49:19
Speaker
Oh, okay. But you get a little buffer, so this is now what, a 21? A 21, yeah. Yeah. Damn. And it's been less than 10 minutes since we were in that room, where the book was found in the movies. Yes. Oh, so you all did have disadvantage against you, because of the protection from Evelyn and Good. Wow. Thank you. That's good. Well, they're both going to try and swing at you with disadvantage, to start with Helena. That is a 14 against your armor class. The second one is going to go for a nine against your armor class. This is?
00:49:48
Speaker
19 and a 7. So 12 against your armor class, 2, 12, 7 against your armor class. So all these hits come in. As you're kind of yanking one flail out of one, the other swings at you, but it kind of gets knocked off by almost like an aura outside of you. You realise this is from Claude. And then the other one takes in, but you manage to parry the hits as well quite deftly. As all those hits have missed, Helena, it's your turn.
00:50:13
Speaker
Swipe round, there's only three of us really in the combat. Okay. She's gonna go in. Yeah, I'm gonna go in. Sort of the same thing. I suppose it's so quick that I haven't really had time to not like to stop. So I suppose I've done that first one, and I'm just gonna charge back up and go again. Okay. Same way, so left, right, left. Yep, exactly the same. Another natural one. Lovely. Yeah, well you're indomitable as well, but don't feel like you're in the same interest. Oh, it's the same interest. Yeah, it is.
00:50:44
Speaker
That's the 13th hit. So third hit, sorry. That is a 23 to hit. That does hit, I'll give you that. Great.
00:50:56
Speaker
Which one are you hitting by the way? So this will be, so I've gone one, two, actually do you know what, this is going to be the left one. On the left one, yep gotcha. So that'll be a seven damage. Oh that's exactly what it had. And it is smoked from the realm as you kept really straight down, also crushing its skull then it just slumps to the ground dead.
00:51:15
Speaker
It's now only the one on your right of Claude and Helen. Brilliant. So then my bonus action, I'm going to take my final attack. 20 to hit. That does hit. Great. And it'll be an 8 damage. Lovely. And again, you knock the arm off this one, knocking one of the axes out of his hand. And you understand that, you know, the axes are the dangerous bit. You're aiming for them liking your training.
00:51:37
Speaker
and you knock one of the actors out. Claw, top of the round, it's your turn. Sacred Flame. That guy that's still alive, but not alive because he's undead, he needs to make a deck save.
00:51:48
Speaker
You got a natural one. Oh, he's going to take full whack of this, which will be 14 points of radiant damage. Yes, smoke just appears in a radiant burst of energy. As the science quickly falls, you then have a bit of time. We'll keep you in that initiative order for now. But you can see the scene up ahead. Again, some of them have moved down slightly, but you are kind of in the clear for the moment. No one really noticed you. What do you want to do?
00:52:14
Speaker
I'm just going to charge for the door. Yeah, I'll take your lead in. There is a large pillar that's been kind of collapsed and fallen down causing a dent in the ground. As you look up you can see one of the jutting out portions of the architecture had fallen at some point and caused a break in the ground so that pillar area you can't access.
00:52:31
Speaker
You're running alongside it just off to the right of it. So you're running literally past this last thing I thought you could get. So I'll hold you there and we'll go into initiative order whilst we give you that kind of almost as a surprise bit. And Claude, we'll start the top of the round. There is now one, two, three, four, five, six of those similar creatures to the left.
00:52:46
Speaker
and one about 30 feet away from you to the right. There are three directly ahead of you guarding the door. What would you like to do? The ones to the left, to the northwest of me, the very closest one, I'm just going to hit him with a sacred flame as well, so that'll be a deck save. Now the natural one. This guy will take 15 points of radiant damage.
00:53:09
Speaker
And almost unbeknownst to him, he gets hit with this and one of the actors falls out of his hands and releases this noise and turns towards you. And I just use my movement to sort of get into melee range with him so that everyone coming down the stairs is looking at me and not looking at Helen. Okie dokie, gotcha. And with that, it's their turn. The creatures that are currently in the stairs, there are three of them.
00:53:34
Speaker
Use that movement to try and move down the stairs towards you. I don't know why I'm picturing these creatures like the ones in Doctor Who where, you know, the whole door. Oh, like those rhinos. Yeah, I don't know why I'm picturing them like that. Yeah, I should do. Yeah. In my mind, you actually drew it with something that's quite similar to them. Would I?
00:53:53
Speaker
That's the kind of image you got. I saw you drawing a circle. It was pretty much what you got there. Sometimes I can't describe it. It's almost like Skyrim. Living portals.
00:54:09
Speaker
No, that one is. The undead ones. Everyone do you mean? They're in all the tombs that you go to in Skyrim. They have ancient Nordic weapons. No, that's the dwarves. Oh, they are the ones. Oh, they're cold. No, I can't remember. That's really gonna bug me now. Yeah, I remember something. Draugr. Draugr. Yeah, Draugr, Draugr. Yeah, that's that. Okay, that's what I thought I'd like. Well done. Back to you, sorry.
00:54:37
Speaker
So you're in combat range, the other one that was standing guard over that stairway to the left of you comes around to get into combat range of you. The others try to move in towards you but don't have the range in order to move. They move quite slowly, quite heavily from fitted.
00:54:53
Speaker
The one off to the east of you hasn't really noticed you, he's blocked by the pillar, and the three that stood by the doors in front don't move from that position. The one you first attack with Sacred Flame is going to attack you, and he's going to get a 15 against your armor class. With his other axe, he's going to get 13 against your armor class. The one that came in to range with you is going to hit first and go for an 8 against your armor, and a 15. So all the miss, as literally you almost stand there, they just don't even manage to get through your armor at this rate, making them a lot of armpit bitches, even though they are
00:55:22
Speaker
They shouldn't be, but you make them look like they are. Nice. Good one. That's the end of their turn as they move into position. Helena, you see Claude almost start to become swarmed by these. What would you like to do? Kind of run past him and go straight for the three in the north, you know, just guarding the door. Okay, so you can... How far can you move? 30 feet. Yeah. But then you can also dash. Yeah, that's right. 30. And I can dash another 30.
00:55:51
Speaker
No. Yes, you can use your action to dash, which gets you another 30. Is that my, would that be a bonus, oh my god. Dash, that would take your action, however you would still have your bonus action, so you could get into range and then use just your bonus action to hit them. To hit. Yes.
00:56:09
Speaker
Yeah, might have to do that. Yeah, let's do that. Is it there? So you're pretty much in melee range with the three that are guarding the door and they haven't moved towards you, but you've approached them. Yes. Are you going to use your phone? Yes, I will. Yeah, sorry. Okay, go for it. Come on. It's 15 to hit. Which one are you hitting? You've got one on the left. I'm going to go middle. I'm going to go middle.
00:56:42
Speaker
14. Nice. 14 damage. Yes, damage. Thank you. Damn. Nice. As you just run up and literally just arm left hand and off hand down directly on the head, rips over part of the rib cage through the armour, taking quite a hefty bit of damage here.
00:56:57
Speaker
Is that the end of your turn? That's the end of my turn. Nice, I like what you guys are doing, divide and conquer. Claude, top of the round, what would you like to do? I'm just going to take one step forward. Sure, I know what you're going to do. You're going to need some like AOE shit and just... Well, this is it, this is it. I have always wanted to be in this situation. I know. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to sort of strafe round and put myself in the centre of these six enemies.
00:57:21
Speaker
I would have invoked opportunity attack from that guy. No, you're still in the melee range. I left it because I went round. Of course you can't. I went round, yeah. It's a 10 against round class, that's it. Okay, and I'm going to use Word of Radiance, so that's on myself, so it's everything with a 5 for me, which is all six of these bastards. You have to make six
00:57:42
Speaker
Contos I'm gonna go from 12 o'clock round because they're almost every angle on the board listening There's you know nine squares around it one two three four five six and eight eight squares around it in Six of them are currently undead. So this is a perfect position to get them all nice one So I reckon 12 around so the top left corner with the last one I do so 12 o'clock 13 fails next one 13
00:58:09
Speaker
Next one, 12. Fails. Next one, 16. Fails. We're going at the kind of 7 o'clock one. 8. Fails. And the last one at 11 o'clock, 17. Meets. So just the top left guy, the northwesterly most, won't take any damage. Everyone else takes 20 points of radiant damage.
00:58:31
Speaker
Let me just lower down all the hits. So the one to your left that you previously hit is smitten. All the others take an unholy amount of damage. Everyone except the top left one.
00:58:51
Speaker
What happens when you cast the spell physically? What does it call it? It's like just slamming this ball of light into this ground and then an eruption of this small sphere of light bursts out and then just like scorches on its way through and dissipates as it moves from that five foot radius to that ten foot just fizzles out into like a firework.
00:59:10
Speaker
Lovely, awesome. And one of the managers just to quickly duck down and miss part of it on the stairs, the others all take the damage, the one to your right instantly is almost dissolved by the intensity of the faith. And they've taken a fuck load of damage, very nice. But they are all now going to turn upon you on their turn and take some hits.

We're gonna do, I'll go round them like we've just gone to 12 round. The first one is going to go 15, miss 21. So you're going to need to fucking out. You're gonna take 8 points of slashing damage from that one.
00:59:44
Speaker
Next one is a natural 20. I'm going to cancel out doubling of that natural 20 with my reaction. No problem. So that will be just eight points of slashing. The next one will get a 17 against Rama class. Miss. And an eight. Miss. And the next one, so we're talking the seven o'clock one, is an 11 and a 21. You're going to take nine points of slashing. The last one that you haven't hit yet rolls a 17. Miss. And an eight. Miss.
01:00:15
Speaker
on something low numbers, in my goddamn life, you know.
01:00:21
Speaker
to do. I have like 20. This is why I throw everything that requires a save so you have to roll all my attacks and not me. That's a very very good idea because you know I roll shit as well. That's the end of their turn. Helena you just approached these three at the door, these massive grand doors and what you didn't notice before that you do now is the two pillars on the side, you can't see them roll 20, are two additional kind of pillars along the side and on top of that are huge
01:00:46
Speaker
spiked flame almost like if you were in the 21st century like a rocket turned upside down that much flame that intensity of flame it's a kind of a dark red flame which doesn't look like a normal fire it's not an orange cracker this looks
01:01:02
Speaker
otherworldly either side of this grand doorway that does stand at about 50 feet each of these two massive doors we seem to make of some ornate bronze almost stand before you with these three creatures double axed standing facing you you've hit one of them in the face what would you like to do?
01:01:21
Speaker
That one's still standing, right? It is still standing. I'm gonna try and go all three of them with my tacks, starting with the middle one. Okay, go for it. So middle, left, right. Cool. 19 to hits. That hits.
01:01:40
Speaker
14 damage. Oh, Jesus, you swing around the face, catching across the jords. It's helmet kind of turns around slightly, but it's still teetering on its feet. So that's that middle one. The left one is a 29 to hit. That hits. That's a nine damage from the left one. So again, you take another swing and try to knock the axe out of his hand. Don't quite get the axe out, but you get some good damage to his arm. OK, and the right one, mine with, yeah, 18 to hit. That hits.
01:02:08
Speaker
Seven damage. Lovely. So again, you do the same tactic again, but this time you actually do manage to push the axe out of the hand to the one on the right. Now he only has one axe to swing back at you with. Sorry, how much damage was that? Seven. Seven. Seven. Seven. And then I'm going to go for the middle one again to try and destroy him. Okay, lovely. Twenty-four. Yep, that hits. I mean, it's dead.
01:02:31
Speaker
and uh yeah 10 damage yeah yeah two health points and you manage to as you go middle left right then you come back with a full swing of the sweat flail down on it and literally you just hit into the chest it just breaks open
01:02:49
Speaker
Those. Anything else you want to do? Yeah, I think she's just gonna question, you know, sort of say out loud, who are you? How has my mind created you? Just in that little moment. Yeah, okay, lovely. They don't respond because they...
01:03:04
Speaker
They didn't want to. They don't like you very much. Claude, top of the round, you've still got five of the undead around you on the stairs. Just going to do another nova of light. So can you make one, two, three, four, five deck saves. We'll do it in the same order again. So talking from 12, we've got five, followed by a one, followed by an actual 20 bottom right.
01:03:24
Speaker
followed by two followed by six okay so just that bottom right one that doesn't take damage here the radiant blast is going to do 14 points of radiant damage the one in front of you just to the right of you and behind you all die straight away 14 was it yes
01:03:44
Speaker
The one to the top left that you hadn't done in damage to last time is still standing, but part of its face now is burnt off, half of its skull is kind of missing now, and one of its arms is severely burned from this, and you can see it really struggling, writhing in pain. The bottom right one seemed to dodge and duck down just in time to miss that second pulse as it comes out.
01:04:04
Speaker
Now you're left with just two, one diagonally, both on the same diagonal, one in front of you, one behind you. Okay, I'm going to make a B-line for Helena, so accept opportunity attacks from both of them. It's a 22 from the one in front of you. That hits. You're going to take four points of slashing damage, the other one is going to roll a 16 against your armor comp.
01:04:26
Speaker
and that one is going to miss. So you've managed to basically get right in behind Helena now in front of these massive, massive gates. Again, you've never seen these before in your life, and they are right there in front of you. The T1 dead are going to approach you, Helena, and flank you either side, invoking advantage upon them. They want disadvantage against her. They do. So it's regular. They do, so it's regular. Thank you very much for reminding me. The one on the left is going to take a swing at you first, and that is a 20 non-natural against your armor class.
01:04:54
Speaker
Well, 21 is a... 22 doesn't it? No, it's 21. So that does not hit. The second one is an 11 against your armour class. So the one on the right is going to take a swing. That's a 18. Miss. And a 16. Miss. OK, fair enough. So I'll just dodge that shit. You do notice, from the top of the stairs, you see, from the top of the stairs, just around the corner, Claudia, and you can just make this out, they seem to just be
01:05:23
Speaker
up on the road these creatures start to come round the corner. That's the end of their turn. No they're not so these guys are going to move. The two that you've left Claude are going to try and run them towards you but they move quite a bit slower. They've got 20 feet movement so they're a little bit behind you. They can't make it to you in time. That's the end of the turn. Helena you've got your flanks one to the left one to the right of you. What do you want to do? Take my flails and do a bit of a spin.
01:05:46
Speaker
yeah cool it's really like yeah to get to try and take them both out um and maybe maybe i'm charging them up as before um before i do a spin and then when i do get around to that it gives a little bit more power okay uh 24 to hit that hits so the first one which will be on my let's just say the right hand one yeah um that'll have the first hit and it will be uh 12 damage nice
01:06:13
Speaker
And then the second one is 16 to hit. 16 hits. Yep. Cool. And that'll be a 10 points of damage. Nice. So both of these hits, as you swim around the first time, hits them both, kind of in the chest for both times, knocking them back for a second before they stand back in place. Great. And then third hit, 17. And that's on the one on the right, isn't it? That would be the one on the right, yep. And then a 14 points of damage.
01:06:41
Speaker
14 points. That kills the one on the right. You swing back round with the backhand almost with the same one on the right hand and you just smack it across the head and the head kind of crumples off to the floor and it falls down dead. And then my bonus action, the final one, a 22 hit. That hits. With 8 points of damage. That's exactly the number it had. It dies and as you swing back with your offhand you see it bring up as it acts and hit you and all the
01:07:11
Speaker
and almost cartoonish stops and just kind of falls to the side. We have a moment of reprieve, Helena, Claude. There is no undead around you. The doors are in front of you. You hold a dagger and this book that says the world away upon it. I'll just, yeah, sort of brush past and almost put an arm near Helena to sort of say, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go. Then I'll just kind of ram into the door.
