Desert Journey Begins

No roads or villages aid your journey. The sun beats down relentlessly, casting a shimmer of heat over an endless expanse of golden sands. Each step you take feels like lifting your foot from a giant oven floor to another. The air is dry and the only sound is the soft, rhythmic crunch of sand beneath your feet.

The horizon in front of you as you scale these dunes and descend these dunes again seems to stretch forever. Mirage is playing tricks on your eyes in a distance where you think you spy another source of water soon sort of dissipates to just tricks of light. The sky is this brilliant cloudless blue, interrupted occasionally by a tiny bird of prey that just offers a second of shadow.

As you walk through this undulating sea of dunes, it seems almost frozen in time. You keep walking in the right direction, confident of the way you're heading, but everything seems similar. The silence is both eerie and calming.

What's overwhelming, however, throughout all of this is how your body is responding to the heat. At midday, temperatures hit the equivalent of 50 degrees Celsius.

The dunes take on a different character, shadows playing on their curves, and the sky becomes this canvas for a breathtaking display of colors. Picture an inverted Oreo Borealis. Yeah, you have this twinkling night sky interrupted by no sort of pollution whatsoever. And then these orangy hues that sort of create these glowing clouds above this twilight scene.

The air is beginning to carry a cooler breeze, but still dry. Could, perhaps, Ball is the most native to these lands, but I'm not going to prescribe that. But someone who's feeling up to it make a survival check at this point to see, unless you want to press on, but a survival check to perhaps think about where a suitable shelter might be. I think it makes sense. Up to the party. I think it makes sense for Ball to unless there are any.

Alpha would definitely have been escorting Rains when he started to slow down, made sure he gets nestled under the dunes and Alpha stepping out away from the rocks and everything else. Alpha would put himself out into the heat.

It's instantaneous. It says create water. You create up to 10 gallons of clean water. So it's up to within range. Alternatively, the water falls as rain in a 30-foot cube within range, extinguishing exposed flames. It doesn't say how- So 10 gallons worth. 10 gallons worth is produced. So it would be enough for one of you or two of you to have a very productive long rest.

The lights are on, but there is very, very little that Reigns could do at the minute. He couldn't tell you his own name. Nix has got a bit of material and wraps it around the ice and just kind of holds it against your forehead.

Um, so effectively, mechanically, it's going to give you two D six temporary hit points, um, which are lost when it ends. So it can last up to an hour. So it's only an hour long. Um, and I've rolled the minimum I could possibly roll on that. So it's only two, um, two temporary hit points, but the, you get advantage on constitution checks. So his intention is very much to kind of alleviate some of the, uh, exhaustion. I know that mechanically that's, that's not necessarily going to work, but the intention is to soothe him somewhat.

Enough shelter, and it sounds like rain is going to be one of the beneficiaries of this, there's enough shelter for three of you to remove a single stack of exhaustion with this rest. It will be a long rest for the purposes of hit point recovery and spell slot recovery, but it will not be enough to sustain that exhaustive recovery, just given the nature of this heat. So three of you will see the benefit of one stack removed from this overnight rest. Two of you will not. You guys can decide who that will be.
