Speaker: Hey friend, I'm so glad you're here. Welcome to oh There You Are. This is the podcast for anyone who's ready to step out of the shadows of self-doubt and into the life they've always dreamed of.
Speaker: I'm your host, Danielle, a wife, mom, and registered nurse who spent way too long believing my voice didn't matter. But guess what? It does, and does yours.
Speaker: If you've been holding back, waiting for the perfect moment, or telling yourself you're not enough, this is your reminder you are more than enough. You've always been enough.
Speaker: Everything you need is already inside you. In this space, we're going to push past fear, stop hitting snooze on life, and start going after what we really want. Each week, I'll bring you solo episodes and interviews with people who had the courage to go first so that you can go next.
Speaker: So grab your favorite drink, settle in, and let's go. And hey, don't forget to hit subscribe so you never miss an episode because we're just getting started. And remember, you're not late.
Speaker: You're right on time. And I can't wait to see where this journey takes us. Hey, friend, and welcome back to UR. You know, sometimes we don't even realize how much our words can ripple, right? Really touch out and reach the people they need to until, you know, somebody tells us.
Speaker: So many times we just feel like our words are just empty shells sometimes and just are out there falling on the ground, but they're really falling on hearts. Recently, I had a listener reach out and said something that stopped me in my tracks.
Speaker: they shared that after hearing one of my episodes, they started thinking back over their own life, not with the same stress or of the overwhelm that they had been feeling earlier in the day, but with a deep sense of, wow, I've actually come a long way.
Speaker: And it really got me thinking um because i was trying to decide, like, what direction do I want to take this podcast? um How do I want to formulate words to bring out here to touch ears and hearts and lives.
Speaker: And like, do I continue with the format that I'm doing? Or do I decide to close up shop for a little bit? um I still have some thinking to do. But as soon as you get a thought of like, I'm not sure why I'm doing this, or if I should continue doing this,
Speaker: then words of such encouragement come along. um I know i i we talk about the whole external validation and I didn't need it, but sometimes we do need the little shake of like, listen, what you do matters.
Speaker: And that's what I keep sharing with you. What you do matters. So like those words, from that listener really got me thinking. Most of the time we live inside of our heads, right?
Speaker: We're replaying moments and stressing over what's next or trying to make sense of right now. But what if instead of parking ourselves in the past or even getting stuck in the now, we leaned forward toward the future vision, right? Of ourselves that's just waiting to be built.
Speaker: Our thoughts can either be a time machine that keeps dragging us backwards, or maybe we can allow it to be a compass that helps us move forward. We can't change yesterday.
Speaker: We can't even fully control today sometimes, but we can control the way we see ourselves moving forward. Sometimes you just sit and close your eyes.
Speaker: Sometimes we have to sit in silence. We see pictures. We hear voices you know and thoughts that come to our head. We can be flushed with feelings.
Speaker: It can be emotion. It can be a sense of like warming or calmness. Your hands can start to tinkle or sweat, you know, just depending on what whatever's going on. But I think it's so important just allow yourself to sit and feel.
Speaker: i don't know. I don't do that nearly enough anymore. So we just need to remember that it doesn't mean pretending everything's fine or ignoring what's happening in the now, right? It means to choose, to hold on to hope, to to the possibilities, to a version of yourself that's still unfolding.
Speaker: So I have three shifts that you can do, you know, to help with the forward motion. One, you can stop auditioning for the role of the old you, learning to leave you back there.
Speaker: you know, we've gone through crap that we're just like, oh, why did I do that? What was the purpose of all of that? But as I always say, reminding us what lessons can be obtained from that, right? So if we've grown, we've changed, we've learned, we've Why keep trying to fit back into the same script, right?
Speaker: We need to let your future selves write all your new lines. Two, you're going to treat the present as a launching pad and not a holding cell.
Speaker: The now is important, but it's not the final stop. So we need to ask yourself, what's one thing I can do today that my future me will thank me for?
Speaker: Number three, curate your headspace like you would your home. You wouldn't decorate your living room with stuff that makes you miserable. So don't fill your mind with thoughts that keep you stuck.
Speaker: Man, we sit in our minds so often. and We can allow ourselves to be pulled back and sit in those mud pits. And then you just get sucked further, further and further down until you allow yourself to be drowned.
Speaker: Don't do it. You know, we spend so much time inside of our headspace. How about we choose to make it a happy place, choose to make it a warm and an inviting place and a kind place, learning to find forgiveness for ourself, learning, i think, continuing for my own self and my own journey that I'm going right now is grace and forgiveness.
Speaker: that's yeah, just forgiveness. And to know that tomorrow is going to be okay, because we have the choice every day, as I tell you, to wake up and make it a great day, happiness and joy and love. It's a choice.
Speaker: So yeah, it's a choice. So I've had seasons, you know, where in my head was a constant replay feeling mistakes and fears and what ifs.
Speaker: It didn't matter what was actually happening in my life where I wouldn't allow myself to move forward because I said would just get stuck in all that mental noise. But when I started picturing the me that I wanted to be confident and calm, present, unapologetically me Something shifted.
Speaker: I realized i could live in alignment with that version of myself now, even before I get there. And friend, you can do the same. That's where the whole place part goes again, where I said grace, kindness, and gentleness with yourself n acting out now and living and believing for what we want tomorrow. it is happening right now to us.
Speaker: And it's going to happen. It's going to happen. So I'm just really thankful that I have the opportunity for you to plug in and to listen and to share. and again, over and over again, to know that you are so important.
Speaker: Your words add value. And we are grateful to have you. You are such an important role in this world. You are needed. I'm really, really thankful for you.
Speaker: And remember, you are not just your past. You're not just the version of you that's here today. You are becoming someone you've never been before and that you get to help shape who that is.
Speaker: So here's my challenge to you this week. I want you to spend less time replaying the old scenes and more time rehearing, actually rehearsing is the word I'm looking for. Goodness gracious, rehearsing the life that you want to live.
Speaker: I want you to picture your future self. See you really go back to closing your eyes. What are you wearing? What do you look like? What do you smell? Where are you standing? Who's standing with you?
Speaker: And then start making choices. that help align you to get them right now. So remember, as I always say, you're not late.
