Introduction to 'The Fellowship of the Tabletop'

00:00:00
Speaker
I mean, I've got a rod that I'm gonna flog.
00:00:29
Speaker
Hello, welcome to this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live Play 5e podcast. That's the first time I've mentioned that. Well done. About five episodes. So if you got to this point, you still don't quite know. That's what we're playing. I'm the DM. Thank you very much for joining us for this eighth session.

Meet the Players

00:00:47
Speaker
We've got a table to introduce ourselves. So firstly, we have Ian, who plays Drago. Hi, Ian.
00:00:51
Speaker
Hi, we've got Danny, who's playing Claude. Hello, we let him back! We've also got Will, who's playing Elfeir. Yes, Elfeir. And we have Callum, who's playing Shader. Greetings, Adventurous. Because Darren, unfortunately, is not with us. Again, Darren and Robin are confused. They are kind of sitting on us with each other and they call him...
00:01:13
Speaker
Robin and call the character Darren sometimes, so it's good. It saves me looking like a prick actually. Having him not there actually is a really good thing. I think our listeners miss it though. My ego. No, no, they miss you messing up. I mess up on plenty of other things like DMing the Germans. So I don't know, we love you. All the things going wrong about you're like a swan.
00:01:34
Speaker
Graceful above water Screaming in mark we trust that would be the t-shirt I'd have for you that way well You know that if someone ever made that sent it to me that would be you know fine right so last we left off we had just managed to kill off Erica what destroy Eric has the lunatic in fault we then also
00:01:59
Speaker
He's in this big black tome now that Drago carries at his pouch side. We found Shader as well. Welcome back Callum again. Found Shader lying on this table. Some experiments maybe done to him, you know? As the party finally managed to break down the door, they came across a mirror which told them some relatively interesting information, I think, or useless information, if you look at it like that, to Elsphere. We managed to move back to the boats to find Helia there at At Point by our new character, Diane Place Claude.
00:02:26
Speaker
a conversation issue where we're trying to find out who's what, what's where, who's doing what. Claude needed to kill Eraqas, Eraqas is dead but we have no proof. Then Alpha gave him a head that was a fake head so we knew and it's all very much smoke and mirrors, smoke and daggers, lots of lies, lots of deceit. No one's really sure what's going on but well then
00:02:42
Speaker
with a hundred exhaustion. We fed him, we tried to prove to him that Eric House had disappeared. He seemed rather happy at that fact. We're not happy,

Setting Sail

00:02:50
Speaker
but he seemed to accept the fact that he was, was here and now he's no longer here. And it's probably still alive if we haven't got his head. We left off at our party, bundling onto Hayley's small kind of sea skilling boat and took off over the ocean.
00:03:03
Speaker
As the island of Four Hole falls off behind you into the distance, you see just nothing but the ocean in front of you. The sea seems relatively choppy, but relatively calm for now. The sun is probably medium low, so probably about four o'clock in the afternoon, so you've still got a decent night of sunlight to go. Hayley did warn you this would be quite a long and arduous journey.
00:03:24
Speaker
There's no room for really sleeping much.

Stormy Seas Challenge

00:03:26
Speaker
The space, Drago, if you remember, that you managed to catch a bit of kipping is taken up by other people. She had to dismantle that part of the boat to make more room for the others. So this is going to be an uncomfortable journey. As I mentioned last episode, we're going to run this as a skill challenge.
00:03:39
Speaker
We're going to run it three failures to five successes. So the way it works is I'll set a DC and you can use any skill you're proficient in to in some way or another help the journey along. So in any way you can. So for example, you might use something like, I'm picking something really off, kill to hear, history. You could use it, maybe say, I remember Clyde Patton's installed locations from an old book I read many years ago, does it at work and see if that can help adjust the journey. So you're trying to use your skill in some way that you're proficient in,
00:04:08
Speaker
trying to help aid the journey in some way okay um we'll go in a form of initiative order i won't include tyler or helio in this it's just the four of you going for it so if you could all roll for just order or initiative or yeah give it to me as initiative so include any initiative bonuses you would okay would have 28 plus nine yeah initiative rolls yeah you're always dead
00:04:38
Speaker
15-20? 18-8? Fucking hell, Shader. It's the height of a bit of an instrument. Well actually no, there's one time he was higher on the boat because I wrote it down. Top of the round, Shader, and I literally wrote that down because it was- It never happened. Never does happen. 10+, 5+, 7. 7 for Claude. You're an E on you, Claude. With an A. And then Drago, I guess. 5.
00:05:01
Speaker
I have advantage on initiative, I rolled two twos. So in this order, three failures to five successes. I'm not going to tell you what the failures do until after we figured it out. We're imagining we're on this journey and we do hit not a massive storm, but it's stormy weather, it's open water. So these waves are quite, not waves, but they're big kind of swells.
00:05:22
Speaker
in the ocean. You're trying to hit them right and Hayley was doing a great job of navigating. You're aware that she's swearing a lot because this isn't the type of cargo she's used to carrying. This boat is designed to be light and skinny but now it's actually slow and heavy and it's taking much longer to turn and to move this thing so she's struggling a little bit. We'll go into the ship order.
00:05:45
Speaker
if you're proficient in survival and you can use survival and then Shader if say for example you were proficient in survival you can again use it but obviously doing something different in the same thing as before.
00:06:04
Speaker
So this is just considering the entire journey throughout so the boat's kind of rocking slightly. It's an uncomfortable journey She's trying to straighten up to hit these swells at the right time and sometimes it's catching a little awkward There's moments where you feel the straight
00:06:18
Speaker
creek ever so slightly. It's a lense over with the weight and the boat's getting bits of water in it as well. I'd probably ask Hayley to tell me what ropes to be helping her with and then I'd probably use slight of hand to be trying to make sure that the ropes are loosened or tightened as and when she wants them. Okay, yep. Can you roll for that please?
00:06:38
Speaker
16, okay, that is a successful pass on that. So you mentioned the halia, what can I do to help? She said, down there, grab the rope just to the right there and pull it tight, pull it really tight when I loosen this one and then tie it off and she goes together and now when she lets one go, the boom arm swings round over the top of everyone's head, swinging round and just that moment you take the slack of it and tie it into a really quick knot and she looks over and gives you a thumbs up as that seems to work. It's the first one down, that's our first success.
00:07:06
Speaker
Sorry, you've gone. Shader, what do you have to do? Using athletics, basically Shader will be on standby should anything inherently go wrong that requires a quick reaction, a quick jump, a quick grab or something like that, as if something were to break and then go overboard and not allow him to basically be prepared, set, ready to try and seize it from happening. Okay, lovely, yeah, go for that, yeah, give us a roll please.
00:07:31
Speaker
Would you roll? Seven. Seven, and what do you think is a failure? Yeah, so it is including my boost, but very good. So as you kind of prepare yourself, you're holding on, you grab a hold of one rope and one hand, just in case you look at both sides of the boat, just in case you see maybe Tyler looking a bit ropey at one point, but looking a bit ropey and looking a bit unwell, not really holding on to anything. As the boom arm swings
00:07:54
Speaker
It catches her on the head, you don't manage to grab her in time to dive over her in time to stop her from hitting her. She's out cold, but she's lying down in the boat next to you. You can also, obviously, kind of, the classroom tend to her that way, but she's now out for the current... God damn it, Shader! I know!
00:08:09
Speaker
were in this situation, you've been here before, you've been on the opposite way of this kind of journey before, what would you like to? Obviously I'm running with disadvantage because I've got a point of exhaustion. You've got a point of exhaustion, yeah. So I'm going to use an athletics skill to see if I can help either like pulling in ropes at certain means as well, so maybe the opposite of what L-Theor is doing, or if there's oars, take like an oar in each hand and try and do like some mega muscle based. Okay. Yeah, yeah, I'll go with the oar one, that one, that one's open, yeah, go for that.
00:08:39
Speaker
12. Okay, so you do manage, you look down to the side, you see it's two small oars that obviously are used for kind of light paddling when there's no wind. Sit them at the place and start trying to paddle hard. Hayley looks around and kind of nods at you as you're doing that. Yeah, keep us on this path. She says to you over the swells as you catch over and as you go for one big stroke the boat just kind of lurches off to the side and one paddle just falls out into the ocean.
00:09:11
Speaker
Back to using your hand. Okay, so unfortunately that is a failure. There's a little failure there. Drago's going to grab, does the boat have a rudder? Yes, it does. Drago's going to use his strength, grab the rudder and try and help steer the ship in the path that Hayley needs. Yep, I'll accept that, go for it.
00:09:28
Speaker
How is a 23? That is a success. Perfect. You managed to grab ahold of this and at the moment it's just kind of off to the side and the boat is kind of swinging around in the north as well. You managed to drag it back into position and Hayley, you're still looking at the course that she shouted to a claw to keep on this course.
00:09:44
Speaker
and you do hold it in there, she tries to turn to another ship. One of the smaller sails that seems to have a rip in it, she's kind of just binding it in with rope to tie it in. Just a crude knot just to hold it in place so it's actually pausing some. Hello, Lexus, shout out. Seacord, this is how you do things correctly. Elvin, back to you, what would you like to use?
00:10:02
Speaker
I'm going to use acrobatics, I assume there's like a sail or something like that, or going up to the mast, I might either go to the top to try and secure things up there if the sail's flapping around too much, or see if I can see from the top a direction of where the storm is calmest to direct us towards.
00:10:24
Speaker
So acrobatically trying to get to the top of the mast. Fifteen. Yep, that passes. You manage to definitely grab ahold of the collection of ropes that are tied around it and drag yourself up almost like a ladder to the very top. You want to balance so much with your feet like some kind of goblin on the top. You look out over the sea and you do see actually just off to the left from where Hayley wants the course to be. Actually there seems to be some light off in the distance there and you can see the storm breaking up slightly.
00:10:52
Speaker
Hayley, the storm is breaking, that way we can get out of the storm if we head there. She hears that and turns to Drago. Real Anna, of course, this way, this way, we're heading this way now.
00:11:01
Speaker
and she's taken that on board. Thank you very much. Shadar, back around to you, what would you like to do? Well, this is quite questionable, but I'm going for one that I've got a better proficiency in. Are you going to jump off the boat? No. I'm going to take note of the routes that the fish are actually taking to try and steer a safer route through what they all know is coming, because I have better animal handling
00:11:28
Speaker
Speaking to fish, I'm keeping my eye out for the routes that the fish or sea creatures are taking when they're popping up to the sea. So they will be going the safest route because they will be very used to it. And I will just be trying to advise. Just say what animal handling can be used to do that. You know what? I think I love that. I love that. Yeah, 100% roll for that. It's literally like, can you impress me? I'm going to let you roll for it. That's fucking brilliant. Yeah, go for it. Yeah, I'm straight. Watch him getting that one. Don't say that.
00:11:55
Speaker
70, there's a pass and you do manage to look over after watching Tyler get absolutely clocked with it you go and tend to have you look over into the water and you can see again the fish deep below actually some larger animals swimming off into the direction that the boat is now actually turning to as well but yeah so you managed to kind of correctly identify the room which we're aiming to go absolutely
00:12:23
Speaker
unfortunately because it's one of the five. That's fine I succeeded. Claude. Okay with one hand on one or on the other hand trying to splash water with the other one I'm gonna do a religion trick and try and say a prayer to the master to see if he can convince any of his friends to maybe have a whale knock us in the right direction or have a tide or a burst of a favorable wind in one direction or like
00:12:47
Speaker
A random bit of driftwood comes back that I can use as an ore. So some kind of day. Some sort of help. Divine intervention. I love it. Yeah, go for it. Go for it. That's a nine. Oh. Neil, Dan, pray to your person. Lose the other ore. Lose the ore. You're praying, you're praying, you're praying. You don't hear so much of an answer, but kind of a...
00:13:10
Speaker
You know it's a bit of a weak ask, really. It's nothing kind of game-changing for you, so they don't really pay any attention to your requests, and that is after... The fact that Drago can mock you for the failure of religion, he doesn't really guard it anyway. The rest of the journey carries on along this kind of route. You manage to eventually get out, but it's sloppy, it's messy, Tylea is really quite badly out of her head. Hayley is knackered, she's got massive cuts up her hands from pulling in the ropes and letting go.
00:13:37
Speaker
Everyone's battered

Arrival and Next Steps

00:13:39
Speaker
and bruised. That was three failures to the four successes you have. So, you all take 20 hit points of damage. Elfie is down. I've got eight left actually. He doesn't have to roll safe. He doesn't have to stabilise straight away. I'm alive. I was just thinking that Elfie was down. That's why I thought he said I'm down. No, he said Elfie is down because Elfie only has 51 hits.
00:14:16
Speaker
If you get to level two, that's when things go badly. Two is your speed is hard. So two, yeah, two is... Enjoy that, Cloud. Two, so we're at disadvantage on ability and our speed is halved. What's three? Three is disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws. Four is hit point maximum halved. Five is your speed, which is zero. Six is he dead? And the last one is another point of exhaustion. So Claude, you're on three points of exhaustion. Everyone else on two points of exhaustion.
00:14:48
Speaker
The one failure was 20 HP, the second failure was one level of exhaustion, the third failure was another level of exhaustion. So the three of you, so Drago, Elthu and Chedda are on two points of exhaustion, Claude, you're on three points of exhaustion. What happened closer to the end of the journey was that the boat actually did, that one of the arms of the boat snapped, and actually the boat capsized, so everyone's alive.
00:15:14
Speaker
but boat no longer exists and you then had to basically swim to shore hence why you've got that next point of exhaustion because you've been you've spent eight or five or three or four hours swimming from where you were to the coast. Like check back and buy me a bag. How much gold do you think I have? Lots. You drag yourself reminiscent almost of an earlier time you drag yourself up onto the coastline
00:15:40
Speaker
of an unknown land for the four of them and not for Claude obviously. Off to the left of where you are on this beachfront you can see probably about a mile or so away a settlement off in the distance with Claude you would recognise as the settlement of Cape Peak. See you there, you're knackered, Talia's knackered, Hayley's knackered, everyone's knackered. What would you like to do? If we never saw the sea again I'd be happy.
00:16:08
Speaker
I happen to tend to agree with you, actually, Elphir. I thought you were supposed to be some sort of sailor. Well, I am normally when there's only one or two people on there, but you put on a dragonborn and a dwarf and an elf and a human. You can't call him that. Can I not? You can't call him that. I haven't called him the wrong thing.
00:16:33
Speaker
I am a dragonborn, you are correct. Claude, as far as I could see, halfway down that trip you just knelt down and did nothing. I'm anxious when I think I might die.
00:16:46
Speaker
I'm so glad that you're travelling with us. Waves are crashing back. Perhaps we should go further up the beach and maybe rest for a little bit. Let's try and find some driftwood and make a fire and rest. What time of day is it? It's even a day and a half, so it's going to be about midday following. I think we can afford to rest until the next day. Agreed. Hey, doc, can I have my axe back, please? I've got you this pickaxe from the cave before I got locked in temporarily.
00:17:15
Speaker
I was actually going to grab the pickaxe in the turn. He's just going to keep the pickaxe on his side. A dwarf with a pickaxe. That's highly original. A dragonborn with a big mouth. Also original. Shade after own shade, okay? Respect that. When do we get the tick measures out, Stenboys?
00:17:40
Speaker
Charlie, shall we go and find some driftwood? Yes, I think that's a very good one. It's fine, there's plenty of the boats there we can use there. Boats capsized. Boats capsized. Boats broke on. It hasn't come in yet, you've been swimming for a couple of hours hence the exhaustion. Yep, so a couple of you can go off and stay on the beachfront? Oh, just trying to find them. Well, is there a more sheltered place?

Finding Shelter

00:18:09
Speaker
up the beach. Yes, there is, I find a cave. No, you can search for the beach. Okay. Yes, you can have a go with survival.
00:18:22
Speaker
Natural 20. You find a mansion on there. Looking up the beachfront, you see a similar colour to those on which you expect on the Osborne Islands. You can probably tell that once upon a time these were connected in some way. I don't know. It's very similar rock forms. You can see kind of oozing out bits of it. These, not quite oozing out but sticking out quite obviously, these kind of clay markings.
00:18:43
Speaker
around the cliff fronts where sections between the stones is this kind of clay that seems to be leaking out a little bit very slowly but it builds into the side of the cliffs. You notice that the cliffs either side of you do kind of dissipate down into the middle and there is a path kind of leading up. This seems to be a place that you assume maybe the smuddlers use or something off the coast. It seems quite well hidden and quite a lot that you found it really. As you work your way up you do come across just up and
00:19:11
Speaker
part of a forest the beginnings of kind of dotted trees around and just off to your right you do notice a small kind of area of protected trees thick old trees oak trees and this sit on the coastline offers some protection from the weather which might be a place that you'd be interested in setting up. Excellent. Can I see the group? Yeah they're just down there. I shout down to the group saying I found as a shelter. That's all well and good but Clay Peak's just over there. How far away is Clay Peak? Probably about a mile away but you can
00:19:46
Speaker
Uh, Claude, how far is Clay Peaks? Uh, it's just there. Oh, fear! But I was feeling quite exhausted right now. Is it worth resting up before we go? There's a nice pub called the Beggars Hall there. I like it there. What's the journey like to Clay Peaks? Is there any monsters or animals? Or if you just walk along this beach. Anything to be aware of? Any reason for us to go carefully or can we just walk straight? I don't mind us walking, it's just whether
00:20:21
Speaker
You cannot be that simple-minded. It's the journey to Clay... Peak. Peak. Are you simple-minded? Easy to get to. I told you it was Clay Peak a couple of minutes ago and you can't finish words. Okay, wow. Which direction is Clay Peak's? I might not think about an hour to get there. It's right there. Okay. Now I start walking in the direction that you pointed. Which is a lot of beach, that's where you want to take it. Who will go along? Callie's will not go along. She has that knackered colour.
00:20:50
Speaker
kind of following directly behind Drago, kind of sometimes when he's not letting grabbing hold of his statue, he's just kind of pulling us off along. She's never been this tired in our life. As we're all walking along the beach front, it follows round, we fall apart from around the beach head and it lends itself to a nice long stretch of sand along this front. You can see just off to
00:21:11
Speaker
distance, not too far now really, at the beginnings of these kind of jutting out ports where you would tie boats up to. The water calms the further around you get here as well so you feel you're away from the barraging front of the open seas and now this is a more kind of protected maybe cove-esque feel to the area. You do see the jutting out, what are they called, piers?
00:21:34
Speaker
of seven jetties that stick out along the Clay Peak front. At this time of day there are a couple of boats, there aren't many though, similar boats to the ones you've seen that Hayley had and you can see smoke rising and people walking around getting about their daily business. By this point it's probably about two, three o'clock. The rain is still coming down. It doesn't seem to deter anyone from their work you can see off of the lane route.
00:21:57
Speaker
I would say that they're not regular visits from non-humans in this part of sleep card. So, you dream of them. I don't want to say a word that makes you more angry. I was going to slightly whisper I want to talk. Bless you. Are you saying that Drago might stand out?
00:22:24
Speaker
Well, yeah. Drago looks up and down at his seven and a half feet stance and going, and what can I do about that? Oh, nothing. We're just playing it out. Have you considered a mask? I brought one here. This is the true application of a mask. You didn't seem to know earlier. You put this on your face. She might not know what you are.
00:22:50
Speaker
mask with half crescent eyes that you've seen that was in the place that Eraqas was in, stuck them in the wall, Elva had a look at them and I didn't really say anything. Okay, I take the mask, you give me the mask? Yeah. And I throw it into the ocean as hard as I can. Roll the dexterity throw. Disadvantage now. You have disadvantage. Well, that was a 14 and that's a 9. You really want at least a 1. Where is my... At the top? Oh, 3. So, 3 plus.
00:23:23
Speaker
into the distance and it falls into the air. And I think just silently carry on. Where's this park place, Thor? It's in Nepal district. Okay. Good luck. Do you

Entering Town

00:23:35
Speaker
want to take us to the bar? Yeah. He does that. He might get stabbed, captured or sold into the zoo. It's fine.
00:23:45
Speaker
okay it's fine he's my pet he's very obedient he'll come back all right did i hear that no you didn't you're too far away also they'll probably assume
00:24:04
Speaker
well we are approaching the civic guard. You walk along and come across the drug you're first, you come across the port and again the rain is falling but doesn't seem to tear anyone there again when it rains similar kind of waxing covers to their to their shores to kind of protect them from the rain they're working by the business like any any other day um they seem to get a lot of rain around here as you can tell. I've put my hood up so that people can't see my elf ears just in case. You know what? My coat giving up my elf
00:24:31
Speaker
Ears? That's it, yeah, okay. So it's like a cloaked figure rather than an elf. Yeah. As you're walking in, people do kind of stop and look at Drago and also at Shader and they kind of say things to each other and then kind of get about their work. No one really seems to bother them too much. You see a series of rickety, relatively well put together almost cheap looking, Tudor-esque looking buildings with kind of high pointed roofs really aiming to get the rain off as quickly as they can. Buildings are slim, buildings are two to three storeys, high usually, dirt paths,
00:25:02
Speaker
throughout. You can see behind it and off around it, you can see other sections of forest behind it as well. Also to your right we look back and up from where you've come, you do see the land start to level off ever so slightly. You see a lot of kind of misty weather over to the far side. But the city, the town itself, as Claude has rightly said, it kind of split into these two miles, the port quarter of the South District. As you walk through, Claude leads you through this central street from the port quarter.
00:25:32
Speaker
wearing these clothes. It's a bustling, minor economy with minor economy, but also a minor economy. They seem to be moving a lot of this clay around. It seems to be a big trading point. You can see them shaping it, moving it. You can hear a kiln fire being fired up as well, a bit of a cheer that goes around with that as people are selling pottery, selling elements like that around.
00:25:55
Speaker
some of your southern clay bricks. The rain continues to patter down as you head further and follow them, Claude, to a small, well actually it's a modest sized building in the kind of central area of the port, this port quarter. Within there's two big double doors that Claude pushes open with his hunchback self. I love the other hunchback by the way, that's brilliant. Pushes open with
00:26:15
Speaker
the touch backs up and steps inside and the heat hits you and the warmth and the sound of laughter from the side kind of bustles out. You realise then it's been a while since you've been in a place of civilisation. A few days at least. At least. And that feeling's quite a safe, secure feeling. As you do walk in there again, it's not like the lute stopping everyone stares at you, but there is a half second where strangers, you get the feeling, especially out there with your high perception. Your perception's good, isn't it cool?
00:26:50
Speaker
that it's not a look of er, races, racism, but just strange people we haven't met before, we don't trust them. So the same feeling you would get all the time, even if they were you and not really.
00:27:02
Speaker
You see a series of round tables dotted around and a big hearth fight in the middle of the room, which isn't really protected very much. It's just there in the middle of the pot dangling over it. The flames are way too high all around. They're just kind of charring it. You probably assume there's nothing in there. There's no music playing, but this room is warm and close. There's small subsections of men in different corners, and there's a small, maybe a teenage boy behind the bar. He's a little short, so he's trying to wipe the bar down, but it's just about his head and shoulders that seem to stick out above.
00:27:30

above the table and he looks over at you. You're coming in! How tall is the ceiling in this place? Tall enough that you can stand, but if you try to, no there's a couple of inches before you would be kind of ceiling height, though you would have to be careful that there are a couple of beams on the ceiling so if you try to jump or swing the sword above your head, it

rooms for the night, do you know? I stayed here before I got on the boat what sunk. They're quite nice. The beds might be a little bit small for you. Are you talking about the rooms? It's suddenly the small boy is literally like at your feet looking up at you all. Do you want to stay here? I've got a couple of rooms available. Hello there, I really like you. You served me a fantastic pint of milk.
00:28:23
Speaker
I gave you milk. Can I have another mug of milk? And could we get some ale? Do you do ale? I do ale. The largest ale. One large ale. Two large. Two large ales and one cup of milk. What do you want? Charlie, what do you want? Just some... I'll have an ale. Just a regular sized one, not a big boy one. I haven't got a big picture.
00:28:48
Speaker
Halia, you look behind Halia isn't with you actually. Halia did, she's just kind of not there. Where's Halia gone? I don't know, I thought she was with you. I go out into the street. She's not there either, you look up and down. When did she go? I don't know, I don't know. I'm asking the DM. Oh right, when did she go? When will I have noticed?
00:29:11
Speaker
Being alert, when would I have noticed you left? The last time you remember seeing her, physically seeing her, was as you approached the Port District. So when you first hit civilisation, there were a couple of people that were moving around and moving through. Fair enough, go back inside. So this is two large ales, one glass of milk, one regular ale. Two glasses of milk? Would you like a hand?
00:29:38
Speaker
Please, um, wait a minute, I'm really confused. Two big ales, one milk, one regular ale for the... Why do you do the food? Okay. And I... I'll drink. I'll do drinks. Yeah. I don't know if I trust you behind the bar. I don't know if I trust you behind the bar. Not after the last time. What happened last time? I drank all the milk. You drank all the milk. There was none left, the potatoes. None. So the potato's really dry.
00:30:05
Speaker
I'll just stand here and remind you of the order. You keep the drinks in your head, I'll get them. Did you want some food as well? Yes. Let's do some food. We do some grape mutton, we do a selection. Just give us a selection of your finest food. Finest food. What you think is the best, give to us. Do you have money? Sorry to ask, but some people don't and then there's food. We have a lot of money, you'll be fine. Elthir, pay the man. Sorry, wrong one. Shada, pay the man. Hey you, Shada.
00:30:33
Speaker
Shader. The man with the gold cloak, the rest of the poor. He is royalty. Sir Shader. Royalty. Lord Shader. Yes, that's better. King Shader? Knocking. Lord. Definitely knocking. Lord Shader. Which kingdom are you from, Lord Shader? I want to know this too. There's a place called Wanda. I'm surprised you've heard of it. Oh, so it's not from around here then? It's somewhere to the west.
00:30:59
Speaker
We're the west. So we're to the east, sorry. Is it somewhere to the east? South, very south. We're taking rooms as well. No, we're from the north. We're from Trelac. You don't smell like someone from the north. Rooms, we're taking rooms, food, ale, milk. Right, okay. You sit down. Are you the one in charge here? I am today.
00:31:23
Speaker
My name's Braden. Okay, Braden. We'll sit down. Okay. I'll get you. My dad runs the inn. He's not well, so I'm running it. Okay. Good lad. That's Elfman. He turns around and starts getting things, and he gets two plants of milk. He gets two large ales. He gets two glasses of wine, and he kind of puts them all on the table.
00:31:47
Speaker
And I'll bring over the amended order of anything you mix. Oh, as I see him. Yeah, so you get the small, so there's too many drinks now. He's looking at it and going, there's too many. Whoa, whoa, whoa. I take both large ales and start drinking them. I'm joking. He then goes back
00:32:09
Speaker
It takes a while. He sticks his head out. I'll be a few minutes. Claude, can you just watch the bath? Oh, watch the bath. Make sure no one takes any of you. I'm just... My mum's a bit... She needs a hand with the meat, and off she goes back to sort that out. So the table that you're sat at is quite close to where Claude is at as well, so you're all kind of in need of shots of each other. Talia instantly sits down and just slumps on the table. She grabs a drink, which is one of the milks, and just starts drinking that and sitting there, kind of propping her head up a little bit. Claude!
00:32:40
Speaker
Of course. Are you joking? The beer? Just the beer. I don't think you should drink that stuff. It's very bad for precision work. Great. And when I need precision work doing, I'll be sure to come to you. Thanks. I could do with mending my trousers. Do you need a work? Yes, I can absolutely mend your trousers. Thank you.
00:33:08
Speaker
No, I told you I got in trouble once for doing that. I can't do it again. So maybe later on, you come to me, give me your trousers. In the morning, they'll be fixed. I'm very glad I met you. I'm sure you'll think that in the morning too. Cloud, you're from around here, aren't you? Claude. Claude. Kyle. Clouds are in the sky.
00:33:33
Speaker
Claude, there were some nasty clouds on the way up. You're from around here, aren't you? Somewhat, yes. Have you ever heard of the Sword Coast? Sword Coast? Sword Coast? Sword Coast? Sword Coast. I don't think this is a mountain. More importantly, how do you live here? I don't live here, this is a pub. Is your master from around here? No.
00:34:06
Speaker
Obviously. What are we doing after? I don't know. What's our heading? I don't know. Right. Maybe we should discuss that. Maybe we should figure that out. Eraqas is dead. Despite what you think. I don't think he is. All I know is we need...
00:34:23
Speaker
I know, or I remember, I'm sure we all do, that we were told we need to find the Order of Whispers. That's all very good. Cloud, do you know what this Order of Whispers is? I've had this already. I'm going to go to Bleakmore once I've rested. Why? You could come there. Well, that's where the Academy is. I like this idea. I might have many more knowledge than I would. And we might be able to leave this one, points to God, behind. Which Academy?
00:34:51
Speaker
I hate Storn Academy. I like that idea. Okay.
00:34:56
Speaker
As this conversation is taking place, Brandon's brought through some food and lays it all out, which you can just ignore, just so that kind of meat, some pork, some lamb, mostly the kind of stodgy, groundy vegetables, turnips, sweets, potatoes, and the likes all kind of mashed up around it. You can see why they need the milk, because this is buttery and milky mashed potatoes kind of put around the edge of this mutton as well. He's looking at it for a second.
00:35:22
Speaker
Was there anything else you needed? No, you did a good job. Yeah, thank you. And then rooms. Rooms! Yeah, how many? It's one silver piece a night. I've got seven rooms available. One of them's already taken, so... That's six.
00:35:45
Speaker
That will cost you. One, two, three. Five, so pieces. I almost got there. Thank you for your help. So, I'll get the keys. Thank you. I'll get, there what you do, you need a few keys. Drago will help. Drago, try to find the phones. Who's Drago? Not Drago, Shader, try to find the phones. Who's Shader? This guy. The Lord Nords. Don't forget his title. He gets very angry if you don't give him his title. I've heard lords get angry like that.
00:36:12
Speaker
Lord shader he buys his head a little bit will you provide the money so I don't get troubled with that yes thank you Lord shader he buys again and then turns around to leave to go fetch the keys you didn't mention you were Lord he's very important what kingdom do
00:36:33
Speaker
I think it's just, oh, you said this already! I'm just gonna drink one wine, and you're just gonna pick up the second wine. I'll show you guys, I'm not gonna say anything, you're gonna grab the second milk that's on there and just slide it in. Now the second milk is in Tali's hand. I've got the one. Are you in the milk trade? You should be. No, no. Has anyone ever told you you're really annoying? Claude, that's been said once, which is nice. I used to think it was a compliment.
00:37:03
Speaker
It's not a good thing to do. But we're in the presence of royalty. I don't think you can slang insults around the room. Okay, I need to gamble. I'm going to get up from the table and I'm going to survey the room. Is there anything happening that looks like a good time, a party, anything away from Claude? You look around and you see two folk up in the corner.
00:37:27
Speaker
stern tones to each other, talking quite stoically about something that's happening. They seem to have got to kind of hand finger pointings and bang your fingers on the table and pointing at each other in one corner. Across the side, you see one man sat alone just kind of rubbing his head. Up at the bar, you see another woman actually just stood there. She's just come in from the rain. She's dripping wet. She takes her hood down and tries to order a drink, but again, she just looks tired and after a drink. As you're surveying the room, though, these doors, these big doors to the tavern just burst open.
00:37:56
Speaker
and you see a very wet, when he doesn't have a cloak up or anything, a man in some kind of tabard again, not the same as the one that Claude is wearing, but with a different sigil on the front, and he's standing there, looking round, and he looks over at Brandon and says, well, I, I, I, I, I, well, and Brandon goes, no, no, he's still not here, I haven't still haven't seen him. Has anyone, have you? Seen who?
00:38:20
Speaker
The guy, I've forgotten what his name is. So, what, who, Sergeant, who are we looking for again? He's, er, he's gonna get, Captain Drallanus. Yeah, he's not here, he's not here, Captain Drallanus. No, fuck. And then he goes and starts to make his way out again. Her manager sighs and turns and carries on what he was doing previously. God, do you recognise the sigil on that man's armour?
00:38:48
Speaker
Clay Peak, the word you can't pronounce. Fair enough. Brandon's a little boy. Brandon. What was that about? Oh, that guy, Sajid Lombard, he's the leader of Clay Peak at the moment. He seems a bit protrude. What's going on?

Local Issues Unveiled

00:39:08
Speaker
Petrude is a good word. He is a bit upset with things that are happening at the moment. What's happening? Well, he's not actually the leader. Have they lost the captain?
00:39:20
Speaker
Captain generalized. Now he's a really nice guy. He's a bit older, he doesn't flap as much. He's a bit calmer and he's been captained for quite some time. And he disappeared. What? I've seen him. How? He's in a wind swamp. Okay. What's that? What's that? Is he stuck in the water? I don't know. He just didn't come back one time. They went looking for some undead. And then that was it. And then he went, you know. Was there a problem with undead?
00:39:48
Speaker
from here. They're kind of, they're noggles to themselves. They're from the Ozrin Isles. The blight hasn't reached them yet. So I've got to speak slowly. Speak slowly and don't call him anything.
00:40:02
Speaker
Don't call me. The one that looks like a lizard, don't mention it outward. In my eyes, you literally sat right next to him. He can hear everything he's been saying. Dragon's got a twitch in his eye that started to develop ever since he's met Cloud. And it just, every now and then, twitching for some PTSD songs. Yeah, Brandon kind of goes, well,
00:40:23
Speaker
I'll tell you all I know and he grabs the stool and he sits on it and the table's kind of again a kind of chin high and his chin's just sitting up on it and he looks over at Tyler and does have some of the milk and he goes, oh fucking whatever and he just passes that, kicks him and puts it down. So what we've got is, wait, what was the question again? Blight. They want to know about the blight. Is this the Embassy Blight? Embassy Blight. They say things funny on the Austrian islands don't they? They are weird. Basically. One of them tried to kill me because I got
00:40:52
Speaker
Oh no, this is not fun though. Emberscarp, like, basically what happened was, a few years ago, in the forest... Skeletons and stuff appeared, and they just, like, killed everyone, and they took over, like, Svenberg Citadel, the Cap'n forests, and the fortress is there, and they're all dead. And this became the 12th kingdom because there's something about 13 kingdoms. How do you know about the kingdoms? It's a funny thing.
00:41:21
Speaker
We were told this, oh sorry, we were told this by Hardier. Yeah, that's right, that's right. I know this. But, excuse me, but we're still not out in the wind though, because we've got our captain. We've got Lucian. Your captain who's missing. No, no, the actual good captain. So is this like near here then? Or is it everywhere? It can be anywhere really. It just pops up. Does this tie in with Eraqas?
00:41:53
Speaker
I don't know. Is this why you were sent to kill him? Well, normally I kill people what are associated with the undead so if I've been sent to kill him it's probably got something to do with it. Well how far is this forest that you said? And I mimic the motions of the little boy did throwing the hands up in the air, the poof, the blight. Oh, it's a bit far, it's on the eastern
00:42:20
Speaker
Eastern bit of the island, north-south. Yeah, the eastern bit of Slitgard. We're at the north at the moment. And this blight started from there. Yeah, popped out of the ground, boop, and it just appeared. But we've got Spiritmont, Rideau. That's where they stay. We're doing all right. We think we're winning against them. I'm training to go fight them myself. Are you? I'm from the academy. Is this the hailstorm?
00:42:50
Speaker
Hailstorm Surge.

Strategy Session in the Tavern

00:42:51
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, they fight them. They're at the redo. With Lucian, he's leading there. And the Obsidianis, they're there as well. It's a whole thing. Everyone's coming together. It's great. I hope they just keep them from the south coming out now too. No way. Yeah. That's amazing. I never thought that would actually happen. Do all these kingdoms normally work together?
00:43:17
Speaker
I kill many people from other kingdoms. Prisoners, spies, farmer. Especially the Drolak. But who? Drolak. That's the sounds. Sneaky. Sneaky. I'm sneaky. You never know when they're going to hurt the snake people. There's a great story. There is a guy
00:43:38
Speaker
Where is he? Different. Blakemore? I think he's a bard. He wanders around, he's a small folk. Like you, but not as fat. Sorry, what does that mean? I mean like he's a small, he's like if you take a human and you shrink him down, like me, like a child, but like not, he's an adult and he's got a beard and a mustache thing. He's a small human. He tells these stories and he's been there. He's been there and he came back and he goes around telling the stories of all of Blightbane and everyone, all the big battles that have taken place. So I really recommend him. I don't know where he is. Has he been, Blake?
00:44:09
Speaker
I keep writing to him but I don't know where to send the letters so I just send him to Goldview and just hope for the best. Goldview's the seat of government, isn't it? Yeah, it's the capital. It's the capital. That's all I know. Sorry, carry on. I was just going to move something on but have you got something to say?
00:44:31
Speaker
Earlier, when I was looking around, when Drago was looking around the bar, he saw two characters pointing in deep conversation. Can I go over to them, please? Okay, absolutely. Good. Gentlemen, they both look up at you in a bit of a sharp bit of disdain. Evening, gentlemen. How are we doing? Fine. You seem very on edge. We're having a conversation, a private conversation here. Absolutely. I didn't know if there was anything I could do to help you. You seem a bit perturbed about something. Well... Who are you? I'm Drago. Hi.
00:45:02
Speaker
Erm, well... Specialised in helping Patrons out. Grandal, do you want to tell them? The other one kind of looks up and is... What's your names? There's one of them is Grandal. Grandal, G-R-E-N-D-A-L. And the other one is Crestal. C-R-E-S-T-A. Grandan!
00:45:20
Speaker
Couple of hours over here. Thank you. Grendel kind of looks up a bit and this old haggard old man with a long grey beard and you can see his eyes are just wet with tears as he kind of looks up at you. It's my son. Who's your son? To forgive the forwardness but this seems like a serious situation. It's Julianus, he's the captain here. It's our own problem. We'll deal with it the way we deal with it here.
00:45:50
Speaker
going to go out looking for him. We're just trying to agree on a route to go through the swamp to find him. We've tried twice now and it always ends the same way, so we're just trying to figure out another way to approach. Okay, I understand and I'm not going to press you too much for this, but me and I pointed
00:46:17
Speaker
leave you now but if you were to request our aid as long as it was mutually beneficial we may be able to help you out and with that I get out from the table. They don't say anything they just kind of look deep in conversation with each other for a little bit and then Grendel stands up and just shouts over Drago! He kind of nods at you begrudgingly for a second. Can we speak to this sergeant?
00:46:48
Speaker
He'll have some more information for you. If there's anything you can do, we'd be in your depth. Oh, well, thank you very much. And with that, he sits back down and turns to him always. You see the stress in his face, really, so it's slightly known that his burden might be assuaged by another. I've never known Brad to actually use his real name in a bar before. I know, normally almost. It will near me. With that kind of return to the table, you're one good deed done for the day. Drinks continue.
00:47:18
Speaker
Brendan continues to tell you tales, he spins you awkward stuff. And is there a temple to the gods in this town? No. There's no gods round here. There does seem to be some unrest in this town. I might have found us some work and a heading.
00:47:33
Speaker
Well, it's good in the meantime. Do some good around here, maybe. I think the more we find out about this place, the more we can help find Robin. And if we endear ourselves to the locals, they might be able to help us with working out things. Agreed. Is that us? Are we the locals? Yes, we are not the locals. Oh, and then I'm a local. Yeah. Oh, I've never called me out before. He smiles and kind of up he gets, takes a look with him. We're going to need a few days rest, then. I think it's best to retire for the night.
00:48:04
Speaker
Yes. What is our rooms? Brandon has already kindly given you a bunch of keys that have little iron locks, iron keys on them with a little iron sigil with the number of each room. He pointed you just to sit down a hole and the doors are just off to the side of the door that shuts in it. You need to sign yourselves a room and you turn them for the night into these relatively simple but warm and secure safe and cosy rooms for the night as your eyes shut you can finally
00:48:39
Speaker
Yeah, that was a real good session. Very RP heavy. I love it when it gets like that. No fighting again. Dizarra. Exhaustion. Exhaustion.

Closing Remarks and Thank Yous

00:48:48
Speaker
Exhaustion. One level for every long rest. Wow, the next few sessions are going to be interesting. I said basically we need to long rest, spend a day here, another long rest. Well, we'll see how it plays out next time. Thank you very much for listening. If you wanted to follow us,
