All right, I'm ready to go. Do some fucking D&D, baby. Is that a go?

Welcome to Fellowship of the Tabletop

00:00:35
Speaker
Hello and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play 5e D&D podcast set in the home-brewed world of Aerith. My name is Mark and I'm the Dungeon Master and I just drank a home-brewed coffee with homemade oat milk. And also with us for today's episode, we have Ian who plays the Dragonborn Barbarian Drago.
00:00:55
Speaker
homemade almond milk, did you say? Oat milk, actually. Not even close. How do you make your own oat milk? Is it just milk and oats? We've already had this already. What you do is you get one cup of oats, three cups of water, you blend it for 30 seconds, take it out, strain it through something like a t-shirt or something like that. You have oat milk. It's literally as simple as that. You don't leave it to wait. You don't leave it to do anything. Boom. There you go, listeners. There's something new to learn every day.
00:01:21
Speaker
It'll save you £1.50 if you're in the UK. We've got Darren who plays the human fighter Rogue Robin. Holy oat milk Batman. There you go. Danny who plays the human cleric Claude. Hello, hello, hello. Bonjour, bonjour, bonjour. Callum who plays the gnome saucer of Folly Fizzlebang the 9th. Hello, hello. We have Will who plays the human bard Carstan. Hello everybody, welcome to Cooking with the Fellowship. And we've got Casey who plays the human champion Helena Sleetgard.
00:01:50
Speaker
Hello, I've never tried oat milk myself, but it does sound quite delicious.

Defeating Eraqas and the Secret of the Candles

00:01:55
Speaker
That's brilliant. So on last week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop, we found us deep in battle with Eraqas, one of the recurring enemies we've had on The Fellowship of the Tabletop since the beginning, when we were up in the Osran Islands fighting for in former full halt to save the Osran Islands very early on in the campaign, if you've listened back.
00:02:12
Speaker
that far. And we finally got him again. And this time he is dead for certain. We came across a number of these fire elementals that were his lackeys. There was a body lying there of a woman, which Helena spent pretty much the entire battle trying to save and did eventually save. We realized that Eric House was pretty much invulnerable. And it took a long time to realize that these candles that were laid out, these very specific candles were the source of his iconic shielding, his power that kept him protected from literally almost every single attack.
00:02:42
Speaker
Finally that was figured out, the candles were snuffed and Eraqas was very very quickly after that slain by a number of uh excellent bits of bits of uh bits of fighting especially Folly using I don't know the hockey user can't remember now to throw Robin's arrows at him which given the rules I checked it afterwards should not have really quite happened but I thought it was cool so I thought we'd fly with that
00:03:05
Speaker
and a number of other really great bits of combat that really took place. So that was a massive battle. Just at the end of that fight, what we came across was Claude had been downed. He was dead. Not dead. No, he wasn't dead. He was doing death saving throws, but had just been pulled through.
00:03:22
Speaker
Robin had come through the mist and Helena had been over with this body of this woman that had been discovered. Carstan, who had spent most of the fight away, actually banished on a different plane of existence, a Denny plane of existence, had come back and

Karstan's Mysterious Past and Banishment

00:03:41
Speaker
had seemed to have lost his senses somewhat and what we're going to start with just before we get into that we're going to imagine we're kind of panning over as i like to imagine with cameras panning over the everyone kind of panting is the as the fight and or andrago was banished as well obviously standard and as we pan over the party and the last line of the episode obviously last week was
00:04:01
Speaker
Tali saying, where's Karstan? We're going to pan over towards Karstan. And he is north of you all, sat lying on the floor, side on in the fetal position.
00:04:13
Speaker
And the camera almost passes through his bloodshot, wide open eyes into his head. And as we get the sense of a man who's retreating back into his own thoughts, a memory starts to return to him of a different time, of a different place.
00:04:32
Speaker
We see a bright sunlight and white shores. We see a metropolitan city. We see opulence, wealth, jewellery. We see a large courtroom.
00:04:47
Speaker
with a long table in the center with a tall, slender woman standing at the far end with long black hair. She's standing, looking towards what we can imagine as the camera, but looking towards where we're looking, looking absolutely outraged. And she's pacing back and forth and back and forth.
00:05:08
Speaker
And she says, Kastan, I did not raise a child to produce such filth as I heard in there. Gendred was there. Your teachers were there. My colleagues were there. You have no idea what kind of pressure I am under or how important my reputation is to my job. Do you? Now, Kastan, you're sorry. Yes, you are able to retort.
00:05:35
Speaker
I'm sorry, I was just trying to, you know, it was just a bit of fun. A bit of fun? A bit of fun! As she steps forward towards you, Castan. Mert, man about town. Is that what you call a sequel to your lucky break? I was just, sometimes in art we have to experiment. All I was trying to do was, I don't know, be a bit funnier. A bit funny.
00:06:02
Speaker
A bit funny. I thought you artists were supposed to get better, not get worse. Explain that song. What drove you to write it apart from being funny, especially in such esteemed company? I was... I don't know. I was going for something a bit satirical. I don't know. I'm sorry.
00:06:23
Speaker
She sits at the table and starts, she paces her hand onto her head and kind of pinches her eyes on the bridge of her nose. What would Morell and Alicia think of you? I know what your brother would say. He'd say, you can't spell bard without bastard. He's not the brightest of sorts, our horse, but he has a point. Are you trying to ruin me, Carstan? No, Mother, I'm not.
00:06:51
Speaker
Did you see the face of Outwick Lecraine? He was shocked, appalled, outraged. How will he ever invite me back to aid the council now? Well, I'm sure you've got your ways. You always do. But why should I have to make up things? I don't know. I'm sorry. Clearly I've let you down. She looks directly at you, Carstan, for a second.
00:07:23
Speaker
For your own sake, Carstan. You need to leave. What? No. It was just a bit... Look, I'll write something better and I'll make it up to them. It'll be an apology sort of thing. It'll be fine. No. No. And she puts her hand up to silence you. You need to go to... I don't know. Somewhere far from here until this all blows over. I know what to do with you.
00:07:52
Speaker
You need experience. You need experience. Life experience. And you need... Please don't interrupt me, Karstheim, when I'm talking. And you need to mature. Quickly. I'm sending you to Sleetguard. But Sleetguard's... Sleetguard's hardly civilization, is it? It's the home to the cold, the wet, and the emberscar blight.
00:08:19
Speaker
Now, I do not wish you to come to harm, Carstan. I am, after all, still your mother. But you must know how your words have consequences and can affect people in more ways than one. The people of Sleepguard live a hard existence and face a threat not seen since the time of the Nine Hells. But this is not a time for you to dally with royalty or follow on your great story.
00:08:48
Speaker
This will be a time for quiet reflection and contemplation of what you have done here in Obsidia.
00:08:58
Speaker
If Horst had made this kind of mistake, he wouldn't be being sent away. Horst is a good, honest worker, and Horst, your brother, does not make these kind of mistakes, mainly because he doesn't make many opinions at all. Well, it helps that he's the golden boy who can't do no wrong, doesn't it? Yes, it can, because he doesn't embarrass me in front of the council! And she rises and her veins and her neck are popping out.
00:09:24
Speaker
You know how important this job is to me. You know how important without your father being such an eminent presence here, I am the one that leads this family and I am the one that brings in the money. And without that, your training would never have happened. Your ship leaves from the dock in an hour. I will send word and I've paid for your passage. I will pay for your passage. I don't care here. And she throws a couple of gold pieces at you.
00:09:51
Speaker
It is a transport ship, probably of supplies of some description for the war effort. You will get on that boat cast down. And when you get to Goldview, you're going to stay away from the royal family there. And you're going to make your way to Valar Gard. That is on the eastern front of the Blight.
00:10:15
Speaker
I need you to go there because there you will see what real living is. There you will see what the hailstorm surge have to deal with every single day and then and maybe then you can come back with a more sensible head upon those shoulders. Do I at least get to say goodbye to everybody? You have the hour and if you are not at the docks, she pauses.
00:10:45
Speaker
Then I will be sending the guards to collect you and put you on that boat, Karstan. Can you see how upset you've made me? Yes. Very well. I look forward to seeing you, a reformed man, upon your return. Goodbye, Karstan. Goodbye, Mother.
00:11:13
Speaker
And as you say goodbye, she turns to leave and walks the distance of this long room to a door. She turns at the last moment as the door creaks open and looks back. And you can see her eyes are filled with tears, but she has a stoic expression on her face. She just gives you a slight nod and closes the door behind her.
00:11:39
Speaker
You see rolling black seas, a pulsing blue and red sky, and you are stuck still on a tower, an endless horizon, a tower jutting out of the ocean. You can feel the tear falling down your cheek. And suddenly there's hard stone floor and the tears still fill your eyes.
00:12:05
Speaker
You see Ericas fall. You see the axe of Claude behead the creature and pierce the tongue and attach it to his hip. Your eyes are open, but your body is not responding as you lie there. With the rest of the party, we find ourselves, Helen, you just come around the corner looking for the rest of the group. We are all very close together at this point, but
00:12:34
Speaker
Claude, you have just been kind of reawakened, given a potion to wake you up and you kind of coughing and spluttering to life. Everyone is in very close proximity now around this table that's nearby an Eraqas's dungeon room with bookcases on either side and what looks to your east
00:12:54
Speaker
like where these elementals were kind of digging. They were pulling out rocks silently, if you remember, from the last episode. And the silence falls across the battle, just as Claude's axe comes thudding down. And you can just hear the heavy breathing of Drago as the rage begins to leave your body as slowly you've calmed yourself right back down again. And the panting of Claude from you coming back to consciousness has subsided. What would you like to do?
00:13:21
Speaker
Claude will immediately drop to his knees and start to cast a prayer of healing on everyone. What kind of prayer would that be? What would you have to do for that? It's just a 10 minute spell that I can heal everyone apart from myself. So that's cast Antaly, Molly, Robin, Drago, Helena. Everyone pretty much. Apart from myself. There's six targets and there's seven of us here. So I'll heal the other six.
00:13:51
Speaker
No problem. What would you do for it though? In terms of cut? I would drop to my knees, mutter in infernal the entire time. My eyes just roll back and mutter rituals, incantations.
00:14:11
Speaker
So yeah, with almost like a, in a frenzy. And everyone, sorry. And then yeah, about five minutes into the ritual, these orbs of white light start circulating around me to the point where they start spinning almost like a theme park ride that quickly. And then they just shoot out to each person and heal them.
00:14:32
Speaker
and everyone feels this resurgence of energy entering to your body as you are healed. How much are they healed by? They all get 19 points of healing. Wow, lovely. So add that back up then. That's great. Oh, that's so good. Nice.
00:14:49
Speaker
Does that have interest? At the end of that fight, Drago, how many hit points were you on? Do you remember? I went all the way down to 12, I think, and then I looked at a bear, and the bear gave me back up to 40, and now I'm back up 59. Oh yeah, of course. I forgot we had that spell prime, didn't you, Danny? He has just been the first recipient of bear mail.
00:15:14
Speaker
That's amazing. While keeping social distancing it. If I'm right in thinking, I'm now exhausted to a level of two. Is that correct? Correct, you are. You're double exhausted. Wow. Your speed is half as well. Wow. You are in a real bad state, pretty much. Okay, cool.
00:15:32
Speaker
And so what would you guys be doing? Charlie's there looking at you each. We've already well and good. We've just stood here and looked at Claude as he's chanted his bollocks. We feel better, but no one's answered me. Where's, where's Carstan? And where's Helena? Are they both left? Too many questions right now.
00:15:50
Speaker
Helena hears this and she comes around the corner. Oh, there you are. In sight. And she'll just say to the party. Hi, yes, I've got the lady, the woman that was here. She's still here. She's alive. We need to get her somewhere safe. Quick. That was a lady. Maybe not quick. Can we go slow? Well, we need to be as quick as we can. Okay.
00:16:17
Speaker
I don't know what condition she's in. Well, I know that she's hanging on for dear life, but we need to get her somewhere where she can be fully looked over. Is everybody here? Is everyone okay? I think we'll... I mean, I can't see Castan. I don't know where he's got to. He wasn't with us throughout the fight. I can't remember much of the fight, so I don't know where he is. Folly, did you see him?
00:16:48
Speaker
I saw him briefly, and then he disappeared. I don't know where he may have gone or even if he'd come back, but perhaps he ran away. Karsten? Karsten, you around here?
00:17:07
Speaker
yeah very cautiously with the bit yeah fully with the better cautiously anyway he's going to start wandering around and just seeing if he can drag I was just finding out he's not looking yeah so folly as you move back to where you put because you did see him the last time north of the dungeon
00:17:24
Speaker
Yeah, in your kind of area as a fellow spellcaster keeping his distance. So you would have made your way back there. The fog would have dissipated by now and after a couple of steps up to that northern pillar that was broken with the candle near it, which Robin put out, you could look over there and you'll see just past that, exactly in the last location you saw him, is what looks like the crumpled corpse of a figure on the floor. Helena, he's...
00:17:54
Speaker
He's up here, but I don't think he's doing very well. And Folly would, as quickly as he possibly can, consider him as a short arse, would make his way up to Karst. And Helena will run after Folly as well. So as the two of you approach, I see in the rest of you are kind of just gathering yourselves near the table at the middle, as you two move your way up to Karst, and so that's Folly and Helena.
00:18:19
Speaker
Carson, what kind of state do they see you in? So Carson's sort of lying there, and he's sort of, he's muttering to himself. He's staring sort of at the wall ahead of him. He hasn't acknowledged anything, and he's sort of repeating sort of the words like, I'm sorry, and that kind of stuff, almost to himself. He's not aware of his surroundings at this moment,
00:18:47
Speaker
Carstan, can you hear us? Can you respond? I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to do all this. I'm so sorry. Well, everyone's fine. Don't worry about it. Just get up. Come on. We need to go. Come on. Folly's going to be poking him gently with his quarters after trying to get him shifted along. So if you're poking him, he flinches?
00:19:12
Speaker
He acknowledges the poke, what does it react to? His eyes, even when he's talking, his eyes aren't being drawn to you. He's still staring at the wall. You guys see anything? Have you found him? Yes, Drago, he's down here. He's down here, but I feel we may need, well, someone quite strong. Or someone with some sort of medicine. Can you get caught?
00:19:40
Speaker
Is Claude still in his 10 minutes of casting this ritual while this is happening? What I'll do is I'll consider that we've taken 10 minutes or so of everyone just kind of panting, breathing, getting themselves and so that's kind of happened. You've popped up, you've gone straight into your prayer almost without speaking and this is all kind of happening post-spell. Okay. What is wrong with him? May I have a look?
00:20:04
Speaker
Yes, we need your assistance, Claude. I need to go and get back to the lady. I don't know what happened to her. Well, this one with the lady as well. Well, I'll go to her. You stay with Castan. He needs to... Oh, could... Okay. Okay, how about I just bring Castan to the lady?
00:20:21
Speaker
Yeah, let's meet other lady. Sure. OK, Drago walks over to Karsten, who I assume is still in his catatonic state, and lifts him, not roughly, not like he did with Kelstan, but with Karsten, he's going to lift him up gingerly and still do the kind of fireman carry his head over my back and just on one shoulder.
00:20:46
Speaker
If I can lift him, I assume I can, and how I hit him has cast on. He's not very heavy, or you might just get poked in the face by some bagpipes, but that's it. That's a funny image of like... Bagpipe straight up the nostril. I've got to make a strength check, I'm guessing.
00:21:04
Speaker
Yes please with disadvantage. They're making a noise every time you breathe out as well so you keep playing bagpipes just as you're walking along. 18 is my strength check for that. So as you do manage to pick him up and Folly and Helen, sorry Helen you've already left, Folly you move over to...
00:21:21
Speaker
where this woman is. You find yourself at that kind of T-junction where the paths kind of split up. Basically in a corridor at the moment, a kind of 10 foot by 10 foot corridor that has a little bit of room in it, but it will be quite a tight fit there. But you find yourselves there. Just quickly scanning back at, and Claude, you're obviously walking over with them as well. Robin, we find you still around that area. What kind of thing would you have been up to? What would you have done post-battle? Tally's with you, by the way, as well.
00:21:50
Speaker
Okay so Robin would have been effectively deaf to pretty much what was going on at this point. It would probably have taken about 15 minutes for him to drop out of what was close to the first time for him a state of rage and a state of um
00:22:12
Speaker
blood-driven anger. As he grafts the hilt of Ghostbane, he realises that his hand is trembling. He realises that the blade is thick in the blood of Eraqas. He looks down at the decapitated corpse, is aware for the first time that the head is gone.
00:22:37
Speaker
and we'll slowly then put the blade away take a look around

Robin's Reflection on Rage

00:22:45
Speaker
to see if anyone is still there with him see Talia and say to her where the others go
00:22:53
Speaker
They've just gone to check on Karst and I think and but just before you would have put your blade away Tali would have had a book out kind of just waiting patiently for you to come to your senses through your through your Kind of mini rage so to speak and she would have cast just as you about to put the sword away press the Digitation on your sword cleaning it just as it enters into its sheath so all the kind of guts and stuff of Eric has would have actually as the blade went in kind of all kind of come off like a
00:23:20
Speaker
mini waterfall away from you just as it gets put in almost without you noticing maybe she's not there for, she's not trying to get attention out of it. They've gone to look at Karsten. Robin are you okay? I'm fine. You don't look fine you've got, I mean that you felt a bit like Drago then for a minute. Yes, something came over me but I think it's past now.
00:23:50
Speaker
Well, we could find the others. We should. Hi. And what do you want to do? So Robin is going to come around the corner, I guess, see where everyone is now gathered. Before he does that, he's just going to take a glance around the room where Eric has was a glance down at the court and
00:24:16
Speaker
Just try and envisage if there's any way that any type of evil is still lurking here. Give me an religion check. Do you want evil or do you want magic? Evil. Yeah, religion then please. Six.
00:24:35
Speaker
your knowledge of the gods is limited at best anyway, your knowledge of these gods in the realm of Erath are even more limited. Save the voices that have spoken to you in your head, which could be cast aside as early science schizophrenia, or maybe anything else really, just the fatigue of battle and exhaustion of battle setting in on you.
00:24:55
Speaker
You feel around for any sense of evil as far as you know it and find nothing. However, your keen eyes do very clearly see the black book is still in Eraqas's hands. His decapitated corpse is still clasping the book, which seems to give off an iconic aura.
00:25:14
Speaker
Okay. Um, Robin will probably start to feel his eyes drawn towards the book and he will then. Steady. You've done this before. He will then suddenly shake that off and say to Talia.
00:25:36
Speaker
Is there anything you can do to ascertain what that thing is without putting yourself in danger? Someone in the group actually learns. The book? Well, you're a better spellcaster than I am. You understand the arcane arts better than I do. And even in death, Eraqath seems quite keen on that thing. Hey, to be honest, Robin, I'm not going to be any good
00:26:01
Speaker
and after people and there's a lot of people around there and I'm a bit I could do with the quiet leave me with my book I'll stay here I won't touch you I promise you and I'll just sit on this table and and see what I can do um if you need me though just just to shout okay um and I'll as I'll get oh I'll snap my fingers and as that happens a little cat will disappear um next to Talia and I'll say if you need me talk to the cat
00:26:29
Speaker
and I'll make my way round to where the others are. That needs to be on the t-shirt, if you need me, talk to the cat. That's amazing, I love that. And she'll just look at you and kind of nod and look really quite fascinated down at the cat and just start muttering to herself, I want a familiar, one day, maybe I'll find one. Anyway, and she kind of just kept looking through the book as you walk off. And we join the rest of the party. Draghi just carried round Karstan and he's still there muttering.
00:26:58
Speaker
Yes, so I've carried him slowly round because obviously I'm pretty fucked and all I plan to do is when we get there I'm not going to hold him on my arm instead I'm going to prop him up against the wall. You know how you would do with someone after a long night in a club?
00:27:14
Speaker
and you're walking home shamefully, and you see someone always on the side of the road, and they're just kind of a little bit hunched over, leaning up all their strength against the wall. That's exactly how I position Karstan, unless he does anything else, so that his back is kind of against the wall, and he's just kind of slumped to one side. But I'm going to do it carefully. I'm not going to throw him down. And to be honest, I'm going to probably just get on one knee as well myself next to him, just to catch my breath.
00:27:44
Speaker
Sorry. Sorry. Go ahead, Claude. Claude will run in to both the injured parties and do a medicine check to figure out what's wrong with both of them. Okay. So can you, which one do you want to do first? I'll do Car Sound first.
00:28:01
Speaker
and then I'll do the woman. What I'm gonna do is, I know this isn't necessarily a D&D, well, I'm gonna make it up, I'm the DM. Because we've just come back from death saving throws, I'm gonna ask you to roll these with disadvantage, just as it's a kind of a mental check, and you've just come back from the brink of death quite quickly. Okay, okay, well. And you have to heal yourself. Yeah, it was a 19 with disadvantage on the cast and check, and it was a 11,
00:28:31
Speaker
on the woman. Well, I mean, that's good. That's really good. OK, so on the cast and check, you look over and you can hear what he's saying. You can hear the muttering. You can see his eyes and you're pretty certain that this is a form of madness. You're pretty certain that this is a person who has is almost trapped in a thought or trapped in a idea and has gone through a harrowing experience. You felt something quite similar to this when you first
00:29:00
Speaker
finished your meeting with Akiva. That helps put it in perspective. But it passed. You remember for you, it passed after some time. For the woman that's lying there, you can tell that some kind of repressive energy, iconic, repressive energy had been pressing and kind of
00:29:20
Speaker
drain not necessarily pulling the life force out of her but suppressing it down this she's wanted to be kept alive you're not really sure why but you can see her chest moving you can see her eyes fluttering this is a semi-conscious human
00:29:35
Speaker
elven-ish human lying on the floor breathing okay what i'll do then is i'll sort of having two tasks at once and not really unsure how to prioritize because it doesn't compute with me i'm just going to stand up and in both of my hands use uh lesser restoration one on karstam one on the woman
00:29:56
Speaker
Okie-dokie, so firstly with Karstan, what does Claude do for his registration? So much like he did with his previous prayer, he basically just panics a few words into his amulet and these two pulsing pale blue spheres appear above his hands and they just slowly float into the faces of the two injured personnel and have a little poof!
00:30:22
Speaker
and disappear into the into the head of the people. And as you do that with Castan, first of all, he's kind of slumped up against the wall next to a slumped up Drago, who is constantly watching what you're doing. And as the energy hits his face, his eyes seem to flicker as he seems to have more control. His eyes were glazed over, just staring off into the distance. And it does seem to bring him back into the room. He manages to cast and he managed to control your eyes. And that that level of madness has now been subsided.
00:30:51
Speaker
So Karsten will sort of blink. Is it Draga that's closest to him? Yes. It would be, yes. So he sort of blinks, takes a moment and sort of collects himself and puts on sort of this mask of his smargas. Oh, we all made it through then.
00:31:11
Speaker
Yeah, some of us more than others, but we did all make it through. Oh, good. You OK? Yeah, I'm fine. I don't quite know what happened then. You seem to have been on a travel in your mind. You weren't all there when we came to you. I know. I was in a very dark place. I don't know where I was.
00:31:39
Speaker
in a sea on a tower and it was, I was very scared. Do you want to talk about it? And you get the distinct impression that Drago would do anything other than talk about it, but feels like it's social protocol to ask. Katherine doesn't pick up on that. Well, I don't know. It was just, it was, I've never felt so alone in all my life. It was, it brought back some, some hard memories for me. That was all it is. I didn't think I was ever getting out of there.
00:32:09
Speaker
alive.
00:32:11
Speaker
Castan, did you at any point feel a very big sense of cold, followed by the inability to breathe, followed by the inability to move anything? I felt the last one. I felt like I couldn't move. Oh, okay. If you felt all three, you probably died. Oh, good. I suppose that's a silver lining that I didn't die. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
00:32:40
Speaker
I think silver linings are a good place to start right now and he's right, you are not dead. So anything else that you're feeling can be overcome with time. And drink, right? What made you disappear? Yeah, always drink. Castan, where did you go? What made you go? Um, do you want me to do an arcana check to see if I know what happened to me, Mark?
00:33:03
Speaker
Give me a history check. OK. One moment. I got 23. Years ago in the capital, Obsidium, you read a book titled Banishment and Banishing, a wizard's guide to the spell banishment. You read that cover to cover. It was written by an excellent magic user, which the name now precludes you.
00:33:27
Speaker
But you read that cover to cover multiple times. Not only do you know the sensation of it, but you also understand the concept of where you went, which was a demiplane. You're slowly realizing that concepts and reality now differ massively in terms of its effect. You are very much aware of exactly what happened to you. Yes. I was in another place. It's like I'd been banished from this realm and I didn't know if I was ever going to get back.
00:33:59
Speaker
You're back now. You're back now. Just what I was thinking, Drago. That's twice we've done that recently.
00:34:06
Speaker
We are on a path, it seems. Well, Carstan, you weren't the only one to fall ill. We found somebody else. Yes, what did my magical power do on the lady? You see this woman is actually sat up and her kind of black hair is disheveled up behind her as she's got a hand behind her head kind of rubbing the back of her head and pulling down their hair. As she's doing that you can see as she moves her hair the slight tip and point of both sides of her ears given the
00:34:35
Speaker
idea that perhaps she has some elven blood within her. And she is listening to the conversation. And she joins in just as you kind of feel the conversation and Karsten is talking. Yeah, that sounds a lot like banishment, actually. Oh, hello. How are you feeling? Yeah, I am awake. I'm feeling good. Thank you. Who are you all?
00:35:06
Speaker
well he wouldn't believe it but it seems that you were being controlled by a very nasty nasty man what sleeps with the dead i imagine this bit that castan's kind of like right up in her face like really
00:35:24
Speaker
Sorry, not Castan, uh, Claude. Yeah. As he's saying that. Yeah, I know who Ericas is. I've been here for a few days. Can you just step back, please? This is a very small corridor. Were you particularly close with Ericas? No, only in terms of proximity, but... Okay. His head is currently attached to my belt. Claude, can we just not introduce ourselves first? I think, give the lady some space. I'm sorry? My name's Helena.
00:35:54
Speaker
Very nice to meet you, Helena. I carried your body through here. I tried to protect you. I remember... Yes, I remember seeing your armour. Yeah, I have memories of that. Thank you for saving me. No worries. And she looks over to Claude and the armour and the beard and the singed beard and... What is your name, Knight? My name is Claude. I, um...
00:36:22
Speaker
member of the Hailstorm Academy tasked with destroying all of the undead and undead allies and that is where we found you. Are you an ally of the undead?
00:36:34
Speaker
I am not an ally of the undead. I am a emissary from Moonrise and it's very good to make your acquaintance, Claude. And she looks over to Drago. And for once, Drago, this person, for the first time almost in this realm, it feels, she doesn't even bat an eyelid at the fact of your kind of hulking form, even though you are kind of down on one knee. And you are good, sir. Drago. Good.
00:37:03
Speaker
Very nice to meet you, Drago. And Karstan, I believe, the one who was banished. Yes, that's me. Is there a better place to have this chat? Perhaps somewhere with drink? Probably. It's not to be rude. Yes, of course there's others in this party. I'd like to get through everyone. I know you've just been banished, but where are your manners? And she looks to Robin as you just approach around the corner.
00:37:33
Speaker
And hello. Hello. Who are you? My name's Robin and you are? My name is Julia. Julia Grendre. I'm an emissary from Moonrise. And she kind of looks at everyone in the group. Wow. Thank you again for saving me. I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't come.
00:38:04
Speaker
Oh shit, there's a lot of voices in a very small corridor. I don't think you've met all of us yet, I'm afraid, and I'll just gesture Folly out from behind Drago. Oh my. I was going to try and leave that one. I thought it was just a rucksack that Drago was carrying. There's a person there.
00:38:23
Speaker
Wouldn't be the first time, my dear. A very fizzle banger night. No alchemist extraordinaire. Pleasure to meet you, Aquit. She's going to be amazed at this. Fantastic! And she's going to stand up and go down to shake your hand, Folly. Folly does offer a tiny little hand gesture with the following.
00:38:40
Speaker
Very nice to meet you. Folly Fizzlebank, the ninth gnome... chemical extraordinaire. I'm sorry, I didn't get all of that, but I'm a bit fuzzy in the head, you see. That's close enough. Don't worry about it for now. Just don't let it happen again. Commanding, I like it. She looks around. Is that everyone now? I feel like... Where's Tarly? Oh, there's more. Oh my gosh. Where's Tarly? Robin, where's Tarly?
00:39:07
Speaker
Charlie is currently investigating something. Okay, we have enough in our group. She's called Charlie. She's a young human girl. She's very hard to forget. She's always here. Always. Good to know. Excuse me. Excuse me, Moonris. Do you know anything about the millions and millions of undead horde underneath this very chamber? Yes, I do actually.
00:39:38
Speaker
It's part of the reason why I am here, actually. Is there a way to switch off, said Undead Horde? Probably. Probably with some kind of explosive or something. Or at least close the mine. It's part of the reason why I am here. Not so much what is underneath here, but the blightful stop. I felt that... Apologies, madam. Sorry, I was just going to ask Julia, what happened to your party? You must not be here on your own.
00:40:07
Speaker
Oh no, I travel alone, I have done for quite some time. I came over from Moonrise not three weeks ago and my sole purpose was to come to Blackmouth to try and bring these warring factions together, to not stop the rebellion or side with the hailstorm sword, but bring them together and understand that they must
00:40:28
Speaker
ally together to fight the Blight. And in doing so, I was exploring and I saw the guard at the entrance to the mine. He was slain. I saw Eraqas drive that blade into his back and leave it. And it was then that his eyes locked on me and I was dragged into this place with him.
00:40:50
Speaker
Do you think you could repeat that when we get back to the surface? There is a friend of ours who is being framed. Oh my gosh, I mean, of course, I will happily do that. And now that you say it, actually, this... I'm not feeling all too good. If we could leave here,

Threat of the Undead Horde

00:41:09
Speaker
that would be fantastic. Hang on, hang on, hang on. Like, I'm not gonna stop you from leaving, but we can't ignore the fact that there is an undead army beneath us. We can't just leave.
00:41:20
Speaker
wasn't there someone about to blow up the mountain, so hopefully that'll trap them underneath. As I said before, blowing up things underneath other things tends to make the things on the top fall in to big holes. Or won't that bury the undead? It will also bury us, I think is the point. And all the innocent people. I assume we'll be not, I'll assume we'll be not like in the mountain when they blow it up, when they blow it in. I'd like either way to get more of eyes on.
00:41:51
Speaker
with this undead horde. It just doesn't sit right to me to leave. I mean, what do you intend? To be honest, I wanted to look into the mine myself before I made my decision, but I was going to talk to Yanno, who is the local stocky here, and she specializes in large-scale explosives, and we were going to have a conversation with Kennard about closing the mine with
00:42:20
Speaker
I think Jena's the one they've arranged to blow up or block the mines. Well, it's a bit more... Only got one entrance. Because that's not normally how things work.
00:42:32
Speaker
No, multiple entrances. But what we had discussed was placing it centrally. Yanno had got most of the materials in place. She was going to walk in with Canard and blow it. And she was very certain that she could take out the central portion of this mine without damaging any parts of the rest of the town. So to understand that, a lot of people know about this army that's currently filtering underneath us.
00:43:03
Speaker
No, no, it is you, and she gestures to you all, me, Kennard, who is the head of the Blackmouth Rangers, who I'm sure you've met so far, and Yenno, who is the local stocky. Apart from that, the populace is, they know nothing. And if I'm being honest, and I am an outsider here, I think it best if we leave it that way for now, can you imagine the terror
00:43:29
Speaker
I think it would cause a bit of a panic, I think. We still, even if we block this mine and stop them from filtering out of the portal, it hasn't stopped the fact that there's still thousands of undead seemingly heading somewhere. They wouldn't just stay in this mine. We need to find out where they're going.
00:43:52
Speaker
Absolutely. My estimates are, and I have spent some time studying this, it acts, this is one of the almost tributaries, one of the roots that lead from these portals to the blight. I believe, and this is only my belief, that the central chasm, in which the ended up pouring out of, in the center of Sleetguard here, is fed by a multiplicity of the smaller portals which feed into it.
00:44:21
Speaker
I think, apologies Bart, what were you saying? So you're saying that there's like tunnels underneath fleet guards all leading to the blight? I believe so, and I believe that it involves people like Eraqas who have set them up in order to feed the blight, and I think that
00:44:43
Speaker
They are closing. There was word of one closing to the north. There is this one. It can be closed. And I think if we managed to get Yano into that room and she gestures around the corner to where you can audibly hear them still down below. But remember, they're quite far down below. We're talking a mile or so below ground.
00:45:05
Speaker
to that room and let her drop down whatever it is she drops. If we can break the structure of that portal, it will all falter and it will fall and it will break. The S, the under, will pour those that have come through to the blight. But that's what Lucian's for. That's what the fourth are for. That's what the Obsidianis are for, to deal with that there. Just to confirm,
00:45:30
Speaker
The undead that have left the portal are heading towards the Blight. Nowhere else. I believe so. I believe so. I don't know for certain, but my teachings and my research seem to believe that is the case. Maybe we should get to the surface, get Jano and Kraflar, what was his name? Kennard. Kennard, and come back down to the hole in the floor. I agree with you, Claude. I think that's best.
00:45:59
Speaker
I also would like to feel what oxygen is like again. I would tend to agree. I could do with the nitrogen. I have no concept of time anymore. What does anyone know? Time is sweet. Arbitrary at best. Is everyone good to go? Robin, do you need to check on Tali because she's still not here? I will check on Tali in a second. There is one question that I think needs answering before we move.
00:46:29
Speaker
I think it's essential to what information we're going to give on our immediate return to the surface. Yes, it's a magical teddy bear, Robin, okay? Well, that answers your question, magic teddy bear. We also have Erika's head, if I assume that that's what you're going down.
00:46:47
Speaker
No, I mean, Eric has his head is great, but that doesn't answer why he was here. Do you have any good? She said Julia thinks that Eric has was here to establish that portal. Yeah. So so we bring down the leaders to see the portal. Forgive me. The only reason I asked this is that the last time we encountered Eric, I see with all that remained.
00:47:16
Speaker
of the society that he was involved in. His presence is normally quite dangerous. Did he tell you that he was still remained? Because there's loads of crazies like him. I mean the Othrin Islands, Claude. Everyone was gone. Bar. That's just the Othrin Islands. It's a bit of a shithole.
00:47:40
Speaker
Second time! Second time Claude have talked down an area in Sleetguard. No, you just want to be on the mainland Sleetguard. It's paradise. Apart from Clay Peak. Yeah. That's not mainland though. That's just the north. It's a peninsula. Do you have anything that might prove counter to what Claude has just said, my lady? Regarding what? Why, the last time we found Eraqas.
00:48:10
Speaker
everyone who was part of that civilization had vanished. My knowledge of Eraqas is limited at best. From what I glean, he was once upon a time a member of society on the Ozran Islands. But aside from that, we've all heard now about the total annihilation of all life on the Ozran Islands. Save one or two, apparently. But
00:48:39
Speaker
All I know is what everyone knows is that he was deemed in Donda Lunatic and that drove him to seek out more and more power. And in doing so, drove him towards the magics that, well, you've seen how he looks now. And he did experiment on the residents of the island, if I remember right.
00:48:59
Speaker
experimented on them. I think he did some sort of torture or convinced them of some kind, but Robin is right, he did annihilate an entire population. There were ghosts there when we were last on their shores. And on top of that, what he was doing to you, he was doing to a friend of ours who we sadly lost. Maybe we
00:49:23
Speaker
We saw him, myself and Drago, we've seen him doing this before. He was doing it to our friend, Jada. Maybe Eric Hast was going to start doing what he did in the Osborne Islands here. He was going to start making the people of Blackmouth disappear. Maybe. Either way, we do have his head where last time we did not. So, maybe for now, it's okay.
00:49:47
Speaker
I did try to tell you last time. Yes. Unless you have the head, you can't be sure. Yes. Unfortunately, it turns out you were right all along. And that pains me to say... I'm going to enjoy hearing that sentence back. Robin, will you go and get Tali? Go and get Tali. We need to go. I'm going to go check on Tali.
00:50:08
Speaker
Okay so Robin as you come around the corner, Tali is no longer on the table, she's holding a book in one hand and as you approach around the corner she has Eric has his book in the other hand with it open on a page and she sees it coming and quickly drops it. Oh sorry I was just a bit... Do you recall the whole don't touch the magical book thing? I know but you know I just...
00:50:32
Speaker
I was just interested. I did identify on it just to see if I could read anything out of it and not read it. No, not like that. I'm sorry, Robin. I didn't mean that. I just meant I wanted to get a sense of the magic that was in it. And there's nothing really. I mean, there is. There's something huge. There's something uncontrollable about it. But I can't access it. I don't know what it is or I don't know. But I think we should keep it. You think we should keep it.
00:51:02
Speaker
I mean, look, and she opens it again to show you the page and we can see these in black, thick black ink, these scrawlings across almost in weird shapes and designs that you don't recognize at all. And she turns the pages. They're all like it. This could, you know, every page and she keeps turning them over. I don't know what it means though, but. Robin will just push the book close upon seeing that and go,
00:51:29
Speaker
I don't think we should meddle with things that we don't understand, Talia. The last time I did this, I found myself as a permanent resident of those types of literature. Perhaps the... Why do you want to keep it? Well, because it's magic. And I just feel that
00:51:51
Speaker
I mean, you saw what Eraqas did. You saw the spells he could wield. I just think, you know, as the magic users here, you and I, we might be able to maybe learn something from it. I'm reluctant to try and learn anything from something that wields that power of evil, Talia, and I think you should be as well. Okay. So you think we should leave it?
00:52:20
Speaker
I'm happy to leave it. No, you're right, because all the damage he's done... If you want to take it, you give it to Folly and you don't look at it again until he or someone else has been able to understand what that thing is. I'm not giving another book to Folly. I think you just... Did you not remember what the fuck happened last time he gave him a book? He formed a poll and we looked through it and someone threw a cup. So we're not doing...
00:52:48
Speaker
Yes, he's a psychopath, but he's a perfectly gifted one who understands the arcane arts. You know what? I think I'll just leave it. To be honest, I don't trust myself with it, but I don't trust fully more with it. If that last little purple book made a portal, this one just blows us all up. I'll just leave it here. And she quietly, tentatively puts the book down and turns to you again. We go in then. We're going.
00:53:17
Speaker
Okay, Robin, what's your passive perception? My passive perception. Um, 12. Okay, thank you. So, we head off back to the group, and Tarly sees for the first time this woman, this elven woman, stood up with kind of this long black hair, pale skin. Oh, there's another person here. This is Tarly. We told you about her. No, I'm Tarly. Oh, shit.
00:53:48
Speaker
Tali, this is Julia. Julia, this is Tali, the one we told you about, Julia. Thank you. That makes more sense. Very nice to meet you, Tali, and she kind of patronizingly, but not on purpose, patronizingly kind of goes over to her. Very nice to meet you. And how old are you? I'm old enough, thank you very much. Can you... Why are we all just standing in a corridor? I can be moving, get out of here. I'm a bit cramped and I kind of want to breathe some air again. Yeah, Helena will take the lead.
00:54:18
Speaker
Claude will put his hand out to Carstan. Oh, thank you. And Carstan will take Claude's hand in support. I'm going to proceed to carry Carstan under the arm the whole way, because he's been through an ordeal. And while we're moving, I will say to Carstan, I have been to the scary darkness and back. Oh, I know.
00:54:47
Speaker
I know exactly how you're feeling. It just made me think about a lot of things that got me here. Yeah. And what I always find comfort in is knowing where the light always is. And I'm going to cast light on Carstan's hands. Oh, wow, this is. Thank you. That's that's wow. This is a bit weird. Thank you.
00:55:15
Speaker
And we continue walking to make our way out. We pass by the statue, the mini statue of Tiriani on the way out. Julia is going to be falling just behind. Sorry, go ahead, Drago. Just as while we're walking, if there's a good shout for me to have a chat with Robin, let us know.
00:55:33
Speaker
I'm guessing as everyone would walk on, Drago is still, even though no one offered him a hand, thanks Claude, he would... I kept you alive! This guy can't move! He would slowly get up. And as Robin and Tali were the last to join, rejoin the party.
00:55:52
Speaker
um drago would just basically walk alongside with robin so when there's a good opportunity there's there's a chat that i'd just like okay no problem so this walk will take a while mainly because you're walking it
00:56:05
Speaker
10 feet pretty much. Yeah. Well, 15. No, 20 feet. Yeah, a little bit slower than the rest of the party slightly. But just in front of that, Helena at the front, Julia will just be just off your shoulder. And what will happen is as you approach that room with the statuette, the mini statuette of the wooden statuette, I've said statuette a lot now, when you approach that,
00:56:28
Speaker
What you notice, that's correct, what you notice is that Julia just reaches out her hand and places two fingers on the feet of the statue as she walks past, almost quite nonchalantly as she does, pushes her fingers against the feet and continues to walk. We reach the stairs and we start to make our way up. Folly, I have a running order, I know that Helena and Julia under the front
00:56:52
Speaker
What he would most likely just be kind of settled in the middle will be a little bit faster than Drago at the moment And then we'll probably have the car stand and Claude just in the center as well. Yeah, and then Robin and Drago and Tali at the back
00:57:10
Speaker
Is that right? Yep. OK, lovely. So as we're kind of moving up and out, yeah, now is probably a good time, Drago. Is there anything you wanted to talk to Robin about? Yes. So as the group's moving on, Drago kind of just looks over to Robin, not stopping his walk. This is a conversation as we're walking. So I know the signs. The signs. I've seen it. I felt it myself. How did it feel?
00:57:41
Speaker
That was rage. That was rage deep in you, Robin. Drago's got this kind of like admiration and kind of like, yeah, it's a good drug, right? That kind of like, you've just taken some good shit and your drug dealer's like, he's been on this a while and he's like, well, hey, I've got a brother. So that's the kind of attitude that Drago's kicking off right now.
00:58:08
Speaker
It's a strange thing, but in my mind, especially once he just wouldn't go away and wouldn't go down, he... I don't know, I just... He's killed a lot of people. He's killed a lot of innocent people and he's responsible for so much pain and suffering and...
00:58:37
Speaker
I don't know, when I saw that I could just see Shaddar, I could... Well, Shaddar didn't die from Eraqas. I know he didn't, but I don't know, I guess it... It made me realise that... The unity we had when we fought him the first time is... Well, it's gone. You could say gone, or you could say reborn. We still survived. All of us. We survived, and it's a...
00:59:07
Speaker
It's a fight that maybe I don't know. A bit about the rage. All right, that's addictive. Good shit. You felt power, right? Powerful. And Drago kind of like hits you on your shoulder. Well, I don't know. OK, maybe maybe I'm more accustomed to it. Don't be afraid to give into it, Robin.
00:59:36
Speaker
Do you enjoy killing Drago? Honestly? Enjoy killing? Do I enjoy war? I believe that's why I was made to be alive. I feel like it's my calling to be a soldier on the field, so... I admire your faith. Faith? I've never been told I had faith before.
01:00:03
Speaker
I think it depends on what you choose to have faith in. Priests and clerics will tell you that faith is for the gods, but I've always believed that true faith is in oneself. Well, don't lose the faith you have in the people around you. You might be a little bit on edge still from Elthea's betrayal, but don't forget that we're all here too.
01:00:34
Speaker
And it's given to the rage every now and then. You'll feel a sense of power. Don't feel guilty from it. You didn't lose yourself. You came back. And as long as you keep coming back, you're okay. I think when I was wielding that blade, I... Every time I wield it, I remember whose name is on it. Still.
01:01:00
Speaker
He talked about faith in the people around us and I'll just look back at Tarly, he's probably just over our shoulder and say, here we are, the sword coastians, wizard slayers and mine delvers. How you feeling Tarly? I am, I'm feeling good. I feel a bit like a letdown though because I didn't do much. Those flame things, I've never seen something like that before and that.
01:01:27
Speaker
On the contrary, I'd say you're only getting more powerful the longer you're with us. I was good company to be in to learn how to wield magic and how to, you know, be useful at times. I know I'm never going to carry a sword like Dengon's Deception you've got there or use a bow like you Robin, but I've got my dad's book and I've been watching folly and Robin and I have been talking a lot and we've come to an agreement and
01:01:57
Speaker
I am getting better, but there's still so much I want to learn. And she quickly skips the book open as you're walking, you've walked upstairs and you're making your way in the light that the board has cast over the space, the large cavernous you make your way back up towards the surface. And she's skipping through. I'm late here at the moment and she's in kind of about 20 or so pages into her book.
01:02:20
Speaker
But this is a massive, massive tome, which probably has about 50 or 60 pages still untouched, the right hand side. But she starts skipping through them. And there's just so much still to learn. But as you see, and she skipped over the pages, my dad's handwriting gets worse and worse until it's pretty much eligible later on down the line. But I'm just going to keep working at it. And now that I know what
01:02:42
Speaker
you know, what I'm good at and what I can help you all with. I can start, you know, specialising those spells and really start practising them. I mean, that lightning bolt did all right, but, you know, I don't think damage is where I'm going to be. I think I can be more useful than that. Well, if you're looking into the more medical arts, Claude is probably a good one to talk to. But regardless of any of that, play to your strengths, you'll be OK.
01:03:12
Speaker
Aye, I'm good advice. And you are getting better. Thanks.
01:03:17
Speaker
Shall we get to the surface and see whatever rats piss of an ale this part of Verus serves? I like the sound of that and we start to continue to make our way up. We get to the surface and it is night time, it is dark. The guard that was there obviously, his body had been taken away and also there had been some other footprints there. Not your own but others that have been around that area. This could be anyone for all you know, they're rather nondescript. You make your way back down this long street towards the
01:03:47
Speaker
tavern which you last visited, which was Riverstone, which is run by Thadron, who is the owner whose brother, Krital, had been taken by the Hailstorm Surge outside the city. As you get to the door, this nondescript building which you visited not a day ago,
01:04:03
Speaker
The door is shut, but as you slowly push it open, you do see Thadron there with two or three other people in the bar quietly drinking. It's warm. The air outside is quite cool, but it feels warm and rather inviting as the wooden grand creek strago under your feet as you're the last, one of the last to walk in. You find yourselves in the bar and Thadron comes out from behind the bar and towards Helena, who's at the front.
01:04:30
Speaker
How did you get on? Did you manage to find any proof of anything?

We destroyed what was down there. Don't you worry about it. We've rescued someone. She was left down there. We saw her. She was unwell. We've got her back to full health. And Julia leans over your shoulder. Very pleased to meet you, Phaedra again. Oh, Miss Grendra, I didn't see you there. Very pleased to meet you. May I ask, what were you doing in the mine? You don't worry about that, Theredin. You just
01:05:06
Speaker
How about some rooms for the night? I'll take my usual room, but I'm sure these people would like somewhere to sleep. Do you think you could...
01:05:16
Speaker
Do a friend a favor? Of course, and he counts you up. Oh rats, I haven't quite got enough for one room each, unfortunately. But I got a couple of doubles if some of you wouldn't mind. They're single beds, you're not gonna be bunking up in a double like that. Maybe four of you will have to, like two in one room, two in another, and then I got enough for everyone else. I'm not a massive establishment, you see. Shit, sorry. I just need a bed, I don't care who's with me.
01:05:45
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, the Dragonborn can get a room on his own because, uh, yeah. Uh, if you want, it's up to you really, mate. It's, uh, you know. Just a bit. Just a room. Just, um, I am shattered. Okay. Just point me in the direction. In fact, in fact, just give me the key and point me in the direction.
01:06:02
Speaker
He hops over the bar and quickly grabs the first key and just lobs it at you and you catch it at the air and there are some stairs off to the left, the furthest left side of it, some small kind of narrow stairs that lead up to the floor directly above the inn and you can feel Drago the weights against the wood of each creek and crunch as you
01:06:23
Speaker
off move your way up the stairs it all kind of you can hear off in the distance the sneeze of a of a patron and you can feel the grand giveaway slightly beneath you it's safe but you just you're very aware of your own weight and your own weight of your body
01:06:38
Speaker
As you make your way in, it's a first door on the right, you put the key in, it opens up and it's a very nondescript plain room, simple bedding, straw mattress and a small table to the side with a jug on it and that's pretty much it. There's a candle which you could light or go straight to bed. Actually, Drago's going to do something very on Drago-like but thank you Elthir for this. Is there a chair in this room?
01:07:07
Speaker
Yes, there is a chair just against the wall. There's no table for like writing or anything, but there is a chair. Okay, Drago's going to close the door behind him and push a chair up against it so it jams the door handle. Then he's going to flop down on the bed. I mean, you could have, you had a key, you could have locked it. I don't trust elves. I don't trust the thieves.
01:07:27
Speaker
A simple chair surely would block everything. There's no role for that. No chair role. Give me a chair role. I'll give you an IKEA role. Slayer hand that, bitch. There you go. Breaking the game with a chair. Nice. Home alone style.
01:07:42
Speaker
There is a small window that Drago was trapped in his room when the fire started. Can you imagine? And that you flop down on the bed and fall asleep with a chair firmly under the handle. Still that memory of L. Thayer clearing your head. The rest of us downstairs as
01:08:02
Speaker
As Thradin is on that side of the bar, Julia says over, and my key, please. And he passes gingerly the key to Julia. She takes it. Thank you. And I will see you in the morning for breakfast. And she walks up the stairs again, much quieter this time for the rest of you than when Drago walked up. And she goes to her room. The rest of you are downstairs. What do you want to do? With four of us on there. Five. Five? I'm still here. Now, me.
01:08:28
Speaker
Oh yeah the rest, I forgot folly. If it's any assistance I don't take up much space so do you perchance have a broom closet I can possibly reside in for the night? A broom closet, oh yeah okay and he looks to the left sorry to the from your angle to the right he looks to his left your right and there is another door off to the side of the bar in there's the kitchen in store cupboard off to the right of that
01:08:54
Speaker
There's a little room in there. We just keep some cleaning products and some mop and a few other bits and pieces. You could probably fit in there if you'd like. That won't do for me. I'll make things easier for the rest of them. Well, I appreciate that. And I won't charge you for it. Well, thank you very much. Finally, you're going to occasionally wander off to get yourself set up in the broom closet. OK, nice.
01:09:19
Speaker
And listen, if we still have to share, I don't mind sharing with Tali. If you'd like to come with me, that's fine. OK, that's absolutely fine. That sounds good. Unless you want your own room, don't worry. I'm not forcing you into a corner.
01:09:33
Speaker
To be honest, I'd really like the female company. It's a bit of a boys club, so... Yeah, that's what I thought, actually. I'd appreciate that. Great. Fadron, give us a key, will ya? Of course, and he comes back over and hands the key to you, Helena, with a slight bow of his head ever so slightly as he hands the key over to you. Thank you. Claude is going to look with a beaming smile at Robin and Karstan.
01:10:01
Speaker
I'm quite the snorer. I must declare that now. Also, I'm prone to sleepwalking. Karsten, perhaps you'd care to share a chamber with me. That sounds brilliant. Could we also have a bottle of booze? I would highly recommend that. Of course, I was... No, no, no, we can share. It's fine. I don't think I want to be alone.
01:10:29
Speaker
Oh, so just check. So with the bagpipes and so with the bow, are you two going to be residing in a room? Yeah, that'd be great. Thank you. And then the giant bearded one with all the armor. He has his own room, right? Yeah, because I'm quite happy to share.
01:10:49
Speaker
yeah i'll put you right at the end mr beardy and he hands you a key uh and and uh you two gentlemen here is your key as well i will send actually and he just reaches over the bar and pulls out two bottles of what looked like um a wine of some description but they look it looks more kind of
01:11:09
Speaker
You can see some of the patrons drinking directly from the bottle. It's more of a kind of a port, so to speak. I don't know. I don't know. Something you can drink that's red. And he put the passes on both over to you each. On the house, it's the least I can do if you've managed to sort out the release of my brother. I understand you look naked. We can talk about it in the morning. I will serve you some breakfast if you'd like. Feel free to cut them down. Sunrise is absolutely fine. Thank you.
01:11:37
Speaker
Before we go, can I get a couple of whiskeys? I need something strong. For you, of course. And he leans over and pulls out a large bottle of whiskey and what he's gonna do is take a pint glass and just gonna pour in four or five servings worth into it and then also hand you an actual smaller tumbler or whiskey glass with it and says, I'll count that as a single, shall I? You're a good man.
01:12:04
Speaker
Now, you're a good man. And if you've cleared that mine and you've cleared my brother's name, there is no end of goodness you've done for me and there's no end of goodness I can do for you, sir.

Celebrating Heroism

01:12:17
Speaker
To all of you. Oh, all that's left, at least. What Robin will do is he will take the tumbler and he'll slide the pint glass with about three shots in it down to Carston. No, I'll make you feel better.
01:12:35
Speaker
Okay, and Karsten will drink the whisky. Robin, we'll just say to Karsten, are you alright? Yeah, oh, whoa. I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine. Yeah, I think I just need to
01:12:59
Speaker
sleep and try and just forget a bit. That tower that you were describing, it sounds unnervingly familiar to us somewhere that we've been before. It was, from what I understand, when you banish things from one plane to another,
01:13:19
Speaker
It gets complicated, there's demi planes and I don't know, it's a little bit, it's all like lots of layers. But yeah, it was a very, very dark, very lonely place to be. Robin at that will give Carstan a very inquisitive look and we'll just say to him, how old are you boy?
01:13:50
Speaker
24. You have intelligence beyond your years. I mean that as a continent. I liked reading books. I studied at the university in Obsidia. There's the university here. Yes, it's one of the greatest, some would say, in Obsidia has the finest universities of all the kingdoms. Well, that's good to know. How far away are we from Obsidia?
01:14:20
Speaker
I came here by boat. It's several days sailing across the seas, but it's a lovely place to be. You know, I've worked in slightly more dubious backgrounds in my time, and the one thing we've always appreciated is people who can notice things. Like, for instance, I pride myself for my ability to spot things.
01:14:50
Speaker
you're remarkably good at it. For instance, I bet you could look and Robin will gesture to another table in the bar and say, I bet you could observe that table and know what they're talking about and know what's going on over there without even so much as letting them know that you're watching them. I can. It's one of those things I've always been good at watching things and remembering them. I could tell you what words they're saying. I can read their lips.
01:15:20
Speaker
Really? Yeah, really. Like I could when we first, when Helena and I first met you and then the three of you and you all spoke together slightly away, I knew what you were saying. That sounds very funny. Yeah, you haven't said me anywhere. Oh, sorry. I thought you'd popped up. Cool. I was hoping there'd be some milk service soon. It's just a
01:15:48
Speaker
Yeah, it's just a talent I've had. I'm not very good at fighting, but always been good with my mind, I think. Thadron, at that point, has taken in some time out to the kitchen and come back through, looking rather like, rolling his eyes a little bit, as he does bring through a small glass of milk and slams it down on the table in front of Claude. Thank you very much. When the glass is slammed down, Carson will jump slightly.
01:16:20
Speaker
Robin will just kind of smile and laugh at that. And then just look around, look at both Carsten and Claude and say to him and just say to them both, well, this might be the strangest company that I've ever kept, but Carsten.
01:16:45
Speaker
Yes. One thing I would say to you is this. You've mentioned several times about singing about heroes and songs. Yes. You've plane shifted and come back to tell the tale. I guess I have, yeah. Well, what I would say to you is this. You're not the author, but rather the protagonist. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, that'd be...
01:17:11
Speaker
That'd be awful. Abad never writes about him by himself. It's my job to write about you, your, you and Drago and Claude and Helena and Talia. And Folio, far better heroes than me. What do you think to that, Claude? I'm not a hero. No one's ever called me that before. In fact, I've been called many words that are the opposite of that word. Wow.
01:17:38
Speaker
Perhaps a toast then to what do you think, Carsten? To being heroes? I like the sound of that very much.
01:17:54
Speaker
And as the glasses clink together in the middle and you take a sip of your respective drinks, the camera slowly pans out of the inn and across the now quiet city, town of Blackmouth, with Eric as killed, with Julia safe on the surface. We've managed to give ourselves some time at an inn to process our thoughts overnight before addressing them head on in the morning.

Planning Next Steps

01:18:23
Speaker
And that's where we're going to end this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop.
01:18:28
Speaker
Wow. Good episode, guys. Great episode there. Mark, I need to shout out your voice character work there was fucking incredible. Oh, my God. Oh, brilliant. Julia. Is it Julie? Julia? Julia is absolutely my favorite voice you've done so far. Oh, thank you, man. Loved it. Absolutely loved it. Great work, everyone. Tally's really disappointed. So she's not out there. I was going to say, Tally's like your A game. Yeah.
01:18:55
Speaker
Maybe I'm just too used to Tani now. She's old. Exactly. Thank you very much everyone for tuning in and listening to us and making us part of your everyday week. We appreciate it and appreciate you, especially in these crazy, crazy times.
