This week our party finally attempts to make it down the mountain, however, the transportation choice is……interesting.

Does sex affect numbers?

00:00:00
Speaker
Either or, if it's sex, would it increase my number? No, this isn't Catholicism, it would make a difference.

Welcome to the Fellowship of the Tabletop

00:00:32
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live Play 5e D&D podcast set in a magical home-brewed world of Aerith. My name is Mark and I am the Dungeon Master. And also with us for today's episode, we have Ian who plays the Dragonborn Barbarian, Drago. What up? We've got Danny who plays the human cleric, Claude. Bonjour. We've got Casey who plays the human champion, Helena Sleepguard. Bonjour, no. We've got Callum who plays the gnome sorcerer, Folly Fizzlebang the Ninth.
00:01:00
Speaker
Oh, hello there. Will, who plays the human bard, Carstan. Hello there. And we've got Darren, who plays the human fighter rogue, Robin. Tell you. Wow, we got all the hellos there. And for the first time ever listener, I managed to do that entire opening without making too much of a mistake and without having my cheat sheet of everyone's names. I just pointed to people and I remembered.
00:01:23
Speaker
holy hello batman i think i think i was missing that i think darren's killed that death i think i haven't killed it it's just it needs to be special it's a lot of pressure to try and do that every week we've got people who said it up yourself man not people tune in just to listen to that and you feel like i'll be honest that one means ready i had one prepared in the event that darren didn't say it but mark picked on me first yeah i know
00:01:46
Speaker
No, I was going to say bonjours. That was weird. It's like you're married or something. I know. Weird that.

Recap of key events and challenges

00:01:52
Speaker
On last week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop, we found ourselves at the base of the Great Siphon, the large mining
00:02:01
Speaker
machinery which manages to take off a lot of the large resources from the scarab mountains down into the sleep guard itself which has been long abandoned we found almost the lighthouse keeper's room of this massive tower wooden tower which is the base of this huge kind of
00:02:18
Speaker
ski lift, if you will, taking down resources in these massive, massive crates. And within which we discovered some key information. We discovered how to make it work, first of all, with Folly and Karsten going down beneath it and firing off some adjusted scrolls, which allowed the Pistons to fire and start up this motor, which allowed the carts to move down the mountain. So giving us a way to move down the mountain itself.
00:02:44
Speaker
But prior to that, we'd met an interesting man who came tottering in with a couple of beers in him by the sound of things. But he wandered on in and he disrupted the party in what they referred to as the home. Carstan knew that at every single stage, he seemed to be lying to the party. He didn't tell a single truth, which enraged people, so much so that Helena ended up just going apeshit at the poor man, or not, whoever knows. And he just kind of went, all right, fine, and left.
00:03:14
Speaker
much to some of the members' disdain. Once we had got this massive ski lift situation sorted, the party managed to make their way up the outside ladder to these massive carts that were kind of razing out of the ground before moving down across hundreds of feet above the scared mountains, slowly on their descent down towards the marshlands below and solid ground where life might be.

Mountain descent in carts

00:03:39
Speaker
And we decided on order because only two party members could fit in a cart at a time. These carts were about 20 or 30 feet apart. And so as they kind of come up, members jumped into it. We had Drago and Tali at the front, followed by Robin and Helena. Claude in the middle on his own, and then at the rear, as always. Hey, Folly and Kastan are two spell casters at the back, easy pickings, some might say.
00:04:04
Speaker
So we find ourselves going down. And if you remember correctly, party, we had a really nice kind of serene image of the sun rising and this still foggy land slowly kind of opening itself. What sounds wrong?
00:04:19
Speaker
slowly coming into view as you see the new rule skips marching off like lines of ants off into the mist and fog many miles in front of you and you feel a slight rumble as from the from the motor kind of firing as the skips move and a slight sway of the skips it's quite relaxing also as you slowly move off into into nothingness into just the just the air pretty much.
00:04:42
Speaker
So we've got a couple of combinations here. Is there any conversations that want to take place as we've just kind of set off from this position? It's early morning, crisp air. We've managed to get everything kind of going. We have Claude in the center between two of the other carts. Claude, you pop your head up and you're probably a kind of chest height. You're going to easily be able to lean on the carts and kind of see all around you. We can see each of the carts as well. It's not that foggy that we can't see that. It's just some of the aspects of the ground in the distance we can't quite make out. Claude, was there something you wanted to do?
00:05:12
Speaker
What's the sort of distance between each car? We're looking at about 30 feet between each car if I am not mistaken, which I'm not because I am the dungeon master, but I will just check to make sure while I fill the silence with some words. Yes, around 30 feet. Okay, so we can still shout and everyone could hear everyone, so what was that? At best, the front car and back car is 90 feet apart from each other? Yes.
00:05:35
Speaker
Yeah, okay, a little bit more because the cuts are a bit of a, you know, they're not going to hang on. Yeah, okay. Well, we'll just turn to left and then turn to the right and say, um, it's now a good time to mention, I don't like heights.
00:05:53
Speaker
I think we could all assume that you didn't like heights, Claude. Yeah, because, like, when we were on the mountain, at least I was touching the ground. And right now, I'm in a floaty bathtub. Claude, just think about it like you're flying. Yeah, but I had wings then, and I just got my fat old belly. Mightn't I suggest that it's quite foggy that we consider keeping our voices down. We don't want to draw any undue attention to ourselves. I would say. What did you say, Robin? Something about folly.
00:06:23
Speaker
Yes, I don't think they can hear you, Robin. Folly, Robin's talking about you again. What? He said something about you. Something like you should keep your voice down. I haven't said anything yet. Shush, you're annoying Robin. What? Robin is not listening. I can't hear you. I said he's not listening. I'm talking to Robin. It doesn't matter, Claude. I love Jesus Christ, never mind.
00:06:52
Speaker
Who? You ought to be a robin. Yeah, I would love to be a robin, but not the robin over there, one with wings. Oh my god, how much further have we got to go through this? And Drago. Literally miles and miles, Drago. Drago, as you... Mr. Robin.
00:07:12
Speaker
Drago as you turn around and look down the the mountains kind of where you're going and then you look back to where towards the back you can still see the the large monolithic tower which holds hold these hold this massive weight in place and you've gone probably about 500 600 foot and as you look
00:07:30
Speaker
you quickly realize as you kind of almost kind of slowly bank around a corner the fog you realize is kind of stuck to that kind of area of height and as you come around the corner suddenly you get this full view of a massive section of sleep guard you can see the wire and the posts that go between them snaking down for miles down as it kind of skirts along the edge of the mountain pass
00:07:55
Speaker
and before coming to rest and you can see where it is now quite far below you and this almost uh not quarry but almost like a delivery section where rocks would be kind of put out to the side but you're still talking at the speed at which you're going at it's going to be probably at least another four or five hours probably at this rate um cast out you're at the back with a folly who's currently kind of bobbing his head up around he's a little too short to get his head over so he's just kind of shouting out to cut to
00:08:20
Speaker
to Claude in response. You're in the back cart. This is something you wanted to do. Yeah, I was going to take out some spare pieces of parchment and Carson was going to try and sketch and draw the view because it's probably a view that not many have. So, you know, when I release this as a story, this will be a little bit of an illustration section of the novel and I can, you know. Nice. Do you want to do a check for the quality of that? Yes. I don't know what kind of check would you do? I'd do slight of hand for the drawing.
00:08:49
Speaker
yeah let's go sleight of hand go on then give me a sleight of hand roll i'm fucking van gogh mate it's 29 oh my god i put that if it was 25 plus it would be of a quality which would be worthy of kind of um museum or art gallery quality so yes you've you you sit there and
00:09:07
Speaker
you use simple charcoal sketchings but the slow sway of it and the fact that you've got more room than others because of the fact that folly is so tiny you can really get yourself set up and you get yourself sorted out into a really good view and just as you bank around the corner bang inspiration physically hits you and you just start to create this absolutely gorgeous drawing for the first time cast standing quite a while you are just at one with your own thoughts your own skill your own ability as an artist and
00:09:37
Speaker
Folly's leaving you alone because Folly doesn't, he's busy trying to talk to Claude, and you just spend this time with the shading, the detail. You finish it thinking this is adequate, this is a good illustration, but the more you look at it, the more you realize there's something special about this. There's something really, really special about it. I would recommend, Will, maybe the cast then comes up with a name for it, perhaps. Take some time, you don't have to come up with it now. Just because we might come back to that, that would definitely, you realize that could be worth something now.
00:10:06
Speaker
Robin, in the midst of the cacophony between Claude and Folly, after you tried to talk some sense into them earlier, so something you wanted to do?

Reflections in Sleekard

00:10:16
Speaker
Robin has realised that sense has departed and is instead just going to glance out at the horizon and is curious to know what he sees, like what's the landscape like, is it pretty?
00:10:30
Speaker
It's jarring more than anything else. As you scan around, and the view's kind of to your left as the carts are going straight ahead, it's kind of to your left, you've got to turn to see it all. You can now see the kind of the wraparound nature of the Shadowview Forest. What's really noticeable from this, from your experience of forestry in the Sword Coast, is the color of this forest. And you remember and realize what was starting to take place here. It's dark.
00:10:59
Speaker
It's dying and you can see this from this huge forest that wraps around. You can also off to the distance and slightly to the north from where you're currently looking. You can make out from small stacks of smoke and industry. And as you remember back to weeks ago now, you can see Evershire from where you currently are.
00:11:18
Speaker
You can also make out off in the distance to the west, apologies to the east, you can make out an area of darkness, of physical darkness where there are kind of deep clouds, think kind of Mordor-esque in terms of the cloud structure and you realize off from that direction that is where they talk of the blight, that's where they talk of the emberscar blight, the dead forest and the dead that are beyond that.
00:11:45
Speaker
As you scan down towards the right, your view starts to become lessened slightly by a sense of dust down to the south. But you can see so far, you can see over marshlands and see the long Great North Road, which you walked down before taking the right turn towards Blackmouth. And off far in the distance, you can see a slight glimmer. You can't really see what that is, but what you can assume is, as it goes in the opposite direction to Blackmouth, that this might be
00:12:10
Speaker
Goldview, the capital of Sleekard, far off in the distance with crops of mountainous and hills off in the distance. You can also make out large swathes of flat marshland unusable and in and amongst that small attempts at farmland and husbandry in and amongst it. You try and look north to your way your journey began up at Clay Peak in the Beethoven Swamp but your view is blocked by that of the Shadowview Forest and the rolling hills that fall that way.
00:12:40
Speaker
So it's a moment Robin for you especially to kind of see over where you've been as a person in this strange land and you kind of have a moment where you can reflect if you wish on those different stages that you can see off in the distance as you realize really for the first time how high these mountains are in comparison to the rest of Sleek God.
00:13:00
Speaker
Robin, as he's glancing over the horizon, he's just going to put his hands on the front of the car and just lean on the rail, and he's going to just take in the horizon that you've just so wonderfully described, and he's going to just say back to her, no, without turning back to her, and just go, it's quite something, this kingdom of yours, Princess. Thank you. I'm sure that my father would agree, as would all my family. And what about you? Do you agree?
00:13:29
Speaker
I think it's beautiful. Yes, I've had no life here, not really. So I can't say what it means to me. Personally, I grew up here as a child, but those days are long gone. I don't remember much of it now. And what have you been doing for your adolescent years then? I presume that's gold view over there.
00:13:48
Speaker
Yes. You know I was fighting Robin. I didn't really grow up as a child to a young woman here. I was fighting, I was part of something bigger. Robin's going to nod to the vastness of dead forest and goes, I assume that was what you were fighting and Robin nods in the direction of the blight.
00:14:11
Speaker
No, I didn't fight the Blight. I was training with the Obsidianus. We were stationed at Bloodbane and we were fighting under the leadership of Garmir. I thought I mentioned him beforehand. We didn't get to fight the Blight. Forgive me, it just strikes me as odd that does it not weigh on every citizen in Goldview that that is so close?
00:14:32
Speaker
I suppose that I came away from it. I was fighting my own personal battles for my mother. I understand. I have to say that before I saw this view, I was increasingly of the opinion that this kingdom was something of a shithole. I hope you don't mind me being so blunt. I'm quite blunt myself. I take no offense. It's quite something to see the devastation of the blight. Yes, it's not unpleasant. I think parts of it as anywhere are
00:15:02
Speaker
poor, looked after or not so much. This is beautiful in many ways and ugly in others. If you don't mind me asking, what does it feel like to be accountable for it all or to be part of the family that's charged with protecting it?
00:15:21
Speaker
I don't feel accountable. My father has a lot to answer for. I have my own, again, my own arguments with him, which I hope to get to the bottom of. I'm on your side. I don't mean accountable as in you're responsible for that. I mean accountable for protecting those who are threatened by it. My best Robin, as we all do, I hope you'd agree with me.
00:15:45
Speaker
Oh, I completely agree, but I'm just trying to understand. I don't know what I'm trying to understand, but I guess I'm trying to understand what it must be like to be in a position of royalty, I suppose. Does your father then not share any burden in defending his kingdom from that? I don't know. My father's not the man I once knew. I wish to find out lots of answers from him in my own time.
00:16:11
Speaker
I'm sorry I can't help you further. I'm having a lot to deal with coming back to Goldview. Fair enough, I won't press you. Thank you. And so the icy winds blow. And so the carts rock slowly and quietly in a non-existent breeze. Most awkward ferries real wide, Heather. Anyway, I will just then pop it back over. I thought we were going to have another... Your mother's dead.
00:16:39
Speaker
Which I'm half happy for, half not happy for, but that was lovely. Thanks very much guys. Just panning back over then as that conversation has a slightly icy feel to the end of it. Just an awkward kind of, okay, people aren't wanting to talk about it. Over the heads of Robin and Heather towards Claude in the next cart who is eagerly looking around.
00:17:00
Speaker
Cars down? Yes, Claude. Can you hear me? Yes, Claude. Are you still hearing those whispers? No, Claude, I'm not. At what point did you stop experiencing the whispers? I think when we got to the verdant ever since then. Which bit was that? The bit where you ran away from the undead or the bit where you burnt the body of a man? It's a bit before that, after you went into Helena's head.
00:17:28
Speaker
We came upon the verdant and it had been burned down, but it was growing back. No whispers since? No. This is good. Has no one else been saying anything about whispers? No, I don't think we had a lot of time to think about whispers from that point. It sort of, we found the verdant. We found the body of Jamus. We went into the Galanin Hollows and yeah, things seemed to escalate from there.
00:17:55
Speaker
In which case the master has protected us all from these nasty, nasty whisperers. Perhaps he has. I'm glad you have no more compulsions to jump off the cliff and hurt yourself. No, it would be a bit awkward if one of us had it in these carts. That's what I was thinking, and then I thought that of all the candidates here, you were most likely seeing as, you know, we're not talking about what happened entirely.
00:18:19
Speaker
Yes, I don't know what you're talking about, but okay. I'm glad. How are you doing, Claude, having come out of Helena's head?

Philosophical musings and personal growth

00:18:27
Speaker
I'm not going to lie. I don't know what we're doing in the sky in a bucket.
00:18:37
Speaker
I think I might still be in someone else's head. And if all I'm good for these days is jumping between the heads, that's fine. I've got a purpose. Some point soon, I would like to realize what reality is just to sort of recenter, you know, find my North.
00:18:55
Speaker
as it were but right now in the sky I'm just I'm just sort of going with it the master's got a plan I'm part of it clearly and I'm just here for the ride as dangerous and as frightening I have weird myself in this bucket already I'd say I'm a good I'm a good two out of ten in terms of happiness right now sometimes God reality is is what you make of it and so it's
00:19:25
Speaker
It all comes down to what you want, really. I don't make reality. That's for the God. I think the plan's going to go to Goldview after this.
00:19:35
Speaker
Gold view so we're going to gold for you I don't know that seems to be the most sensible place for us to go on I could show you all around on gold for you Yeah, I used I used to live there. I don't know if I mentioned it former royal executioner You know to the king and everything I've got I've got you know I could show you a very nice side of gold for you that sounds nice I
00:20:00
Speaker
Yeah, you can meet my friend, the poisoner. I could show you where I sharpened my axe. I could show you where, well, he's now Lucian Blightfame, but as I knew him, Prince Lucian, I could show you where his dorm is. I could show you where, that's where he is now, as leader of the surge, yeah. But he used to live in the castle and I could show you where I taught him how to, you know, use an axe and stuff.
00:20:30
Speaker
Okay, no, that'd be really nice. I think we could all enjoy some. Yeah. Without a bit of peril in our lives, perhaps. Yeah, it'd be nice. I could show you where they do really good milk and all sorts. And I could introduce you to my friend who writes stories. You'd like him. Really? What's his name? I can't remember. I just know where he tells them. I think his name was the town crier. Yeah, he used to come up with all sorts of shit.
00:20:57
Speaker
You know, they normally read the news, Claude. Not normally stories. It didn't really sound like news. News is like, oh, there's a wind blowing. This guy was doom and gloom. And I talked about, you know, the blight and all that came true. You should meet him if he's still around. Yeah, maybe.
00:21:17
Speaker
I have a serious question though. Okay. How do I stop feeling like I'm about to fall? Don't look down. How do I do that when I'm looking at you 30 foot across from me and all I can see is the drop. Look up. Look up. Yeah, look up. Okay. I will do that. If you need me, just say. Thank you. I appreciate it, Claude.
00:21:40
Speaker
And the DM has been scribbling down one, two, three, four, five new places he'll have to make in gold. Thank you, Danny, for that. As we finally just pan over to the front of the two carts, Drago and Tali are in the front two. Tali's just kind of leaning. She's got all these cards are held by like four metal chains up to the central portion. So each of the four corners is held by this big change up to the center. She's kind of hanging off one of them and looking over the edge. She's kind of looking around before turning back to
00:22:07
Speaker
to look at Drago and she says, do you not want to look at the view? No. I mean it's all the same, isn't it? It's mountain ranges and kingdoms and darkness.
00:22:20
Speaker
I know, but it's nice for a bit of perspective every now and then to see, you know, what we're fighting for. What we're fighting to save. Well, just it's nice to have some perspective, you know, to see this is it. This is where people live. This is the homes that were, at least the people were trying to save, the land we're trying to save. And it's just, it's just a nice feeling.
00:22:39
Speaker
Show me what you're looking at and Drago moves closer to the front. She stands up a little taller and starts pointing out the different areas that I earlier described. I think that's Evershire over there. You know the place with the man and the Kelsan chap and all the fires that we started. But that's like full of people. I think that's a place that, you know,
00:22:59
Speaker
The blight's getting closer, but eventually I think we, you know, if we pull this off, those people, even though it was an arsehole, Kelsan and all those others, and the man with the shop, you remember that we lied about Althea's goods and we took all the stuff, you know, his shop would be saved and you know, he might have a family and it's just, I don't know, it just makes me think all this time and all these views of all the places we've been. It's just nice to know it's for a reason, you know.
00:23:24
Speaker
Yeah, I understand. It gives you purpose, and it's hopeful. It does. A little bit. Well, you're correct. Not saying I'm full of hope. No, you're correct. I mean, look around everywhere, and you can see clearly. Dragos pointing out to the fringes of the blight.
00:23:41
Speaker
Clearly you can see how the Blight has taken hold of this land. And you know enough now about this land to know how bad the Blight is and how in danger everyone is. I mean, imagine something like this on the Sword Coast. It would be devastating. Who wouldn't stand the chance?
00:23:58
Speaker
we wouldn't yet here we are and we can see where the blight is going and we can well you can have the forethought to think about who that will affect it's a very noble and endearing trait don't lose that
00:24:14
Speaker
I won't. If I haven't lost it yet, I don't think I'll lose it after everything we've been through and everything we will. But it makes me think, despite everything that's gone on, there's some alright places. If we had to, would you stay or would you always go back? Do I go pause and think about this? Because this is the first time anyone's ever asked this question to him since arriving in Eryth, sorry.
00:24:38
Speaker
Takes a moment, see him navigating the plains, looking around, takes a deep breath. Well the sad truth of the matter Tali is that really I've got nothing to go back to in the Sword Coast. All my family's dead. I mean when you found me I was just trying to search for the truth on
00:24:56
Speaker
on Denkon's deception, my father's sword, and to try and find a big shadow demon who I believe killed him. Turns out the big shadow demon might have come to this world as well, and maybe my brother, and I still don't know too much about the sword.
00:25:14
Speaker
on my back. So all the problems I had in the Sword Coast have kind of followed me to Aerith, but without my problems I didn't have much else until I met you guys. So if the choice ever came up, if I could go back or stay in Aerith, I feel like there's more good I could do in Aerith for the people that you've just mentioned. Draggo points over to Goldview and to the other places as well.
00:25:38
Speaker
and having a purpose that is noble and helps others, it might be a good way to live your life. And I don't foresee that happening to me if I return to the Sword Coast.
00:25:51
Speaker
That's fair. I take it, mission by mission, task by task. We got the onyx reaver. We're now searching for some holy text, the world away. And that's how I get through it. And that's, it makes it easier. So I don't think about the big questions like you've just asked me, but I would stay if the choice ever came down to it. What about you? Well, I'd go where you all go. That's my home. That's where I'd go. Even if that's to the Nine Hells, I'll stick with you.
00:26:20
Speaker
Drago chuckles slightly at the Nine Hells, and it looks down to Tali. I'm pretty sure I can speak for everyone when I say that we're very glad to have you with us, wherever that takes us. You've always got a place here. Well, I appreciate it. He needs some kind of moral compass on these kind of journeys. Yeah. Otherwise, you just end up killing everyone, you see. I mean, I do. I mean, anyone I come across knew I'd try and slice their head off, or would I be without someone going, hey, Drago, maybe now that's not a good time to do that.
00:26:50
Speaker
I often think something's going wrong if we meet someone new and you don't, you know, threaten death upon them. So I feel like maybe you have got problems. So it's good to see if you threaten everyone the same. You know, you don't discriminate. Everyone has the same treatment of death. You find a lot about a person when they're close to death and the true depth of a person is revealed and their character is quickly established when they're held at knife point.
00:27:17
Speaker
Oh, so there's theory behind your regression. That's interesting. I thought it was just blind rage. I've never thought much into theory.
00:27:26
Speaker
Then let's not think too much about it and let's just enjoy the view. Oh, yeah, cool. And she turns with a wry smile after that comment and just looks back out in front. At cast and just be popping over to the back as you're just finishing off your fucking van gogh of a drawing at the back here. You just put the final touches of it and just writing the name of it and doing the signature on it.

Battle with skeletal winged creatures

00:27:49
Speaker
Have you come up with a name yet? No, no pressure if you haven't. I think of like a reality of beauty.
00:27:55
Speaker
Ooh, I need to make a note of that. Reality of beauty. That's nice. Thank you. And as you're just signing off Reality of Beauty, cast down, and you're making your signature in the corner. You get this buzzing that sounds like there's a fly nearby, and as you kind of move your hand away to try and back the fly away, it continues, and you think that's odd. And as you stand up, you realize it's not actually in the cart at all, and you start to notice this buzzing getting a bit louder.
00:28:20
Speaker
Still sounds like a fly though. Can I try and see where it's coming from? Yeah give me a perception check please. Passive of 26. Okay you get the distinct feeling this is coming from the east so kind of off to your it's kind of you're heading in a kind of northeasterly direction so it's just at about two o'clock from where you are if you're looking where the where the carts are going off to about two o'clock from where you are.
00:28:46
Speaker
And as you look, you can't quite see much outside, but you kind of focus in on what's happening. And Folly, you would have noticed this as well as he moves to that kind of top right corner of the car and starts staring out. And the buzzing continues to get louder and louder as you look up and out. You see the faces of some of the others as this gets louder pop up with their respective skips and flying directly towards you. And they finally come into view, many leagues above you, these three strange jet white creatures.
00:29:15
Speaker
They seem to have no flesh, but they look worrying to you, casting like a combination between a skeleton of a huge demon and a giant wings of an insect. It's long elongated claws, finished with a series of sharpened blood red nails. Something you wanted to say, sorry.
00:29:30
Speaker
No, so Carson would have gone, Folly, I think we've got trouble. Claude, I think we're about to be in trouble. What? Look up there. I think something's about to come and get us. What is it? Flying, winged, demon-y undead. No!
00:29:48
Speaker
And as you look up, you can see them now, they're flying quite some distance above you at the moment, but you can now make out what they look like. But instead of these, where there should have been a tail between its legs, it's got a long elongated, thin and looped scorpion-like stinger.
00:30:04
Speaker
These faces that start to, as they fly closer and closer, small white with dark sockets, piercing blue eyes. Despite them flying high above you in the sky, you can still see this. They're flying kind of a V formation, three of them, and they're flying kind of in this easterly direction towards you. And as they are probably, I mean, they're probably talking about a mile above you at the moment, but you, not sorry, a mile above you, sorry. Probably about three, 400 feet above you. A similar height above you to how far you are from the ground, by the way.
00:30:31
Speaker
the lead of these flying V formation of these creatures suddenly banks and dives towards you and your skips as they get closer and closer. Folly, could you give me a history check, please? Because you might recognize these. I loved the description and the lead up to that as the leader dives down. I had this Final Fantasy crash at the screen into battle moment and then this kick-ass doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-
00:31:01
Speaker
Oh, very good. Follied. It was a history check, yeah? Yes, please. Thirteen. Okay. You have a recollection. There's something about these creatures you recognise, but you can't put your finger on it yet. But actually, given that Kaasan's kind of fumbling around, you're kind of more distracted by the fact that he's very agitated by these creatures than anything else. Can I have you, please? Can we roll to initiative?
00:31:26
Speaker
Oh, sorry, Claude, go ahead. Yeah, just before jumping into any of this, I would have just gone, Princess, Drago, and released light to like a flare almost in the direction of what I'm pointing at. So I don't know what time of day it is. I think it's during the day. But just like a little orb pointing at what I'm concerned about to the other two characters. Because I think, yeah, because Robin and Princess are in one, and Tali and Drago in the other. So it's just that call to the other two ones, basically.
00:31:55
Speaker
Absolutely and now all of us kind of flare like light moves up into the sky everyone can see looks up at the flat and can see these creatures now kind of banking towards you or flying down their long wings kind of arched back so they're in a kind of a dive formation down towards you as these three creatures approach and Robin
00:32:12
Speaker
Robin's range for his bow is up to 600 feet. Yeah, that's the sharpshooter feet. Yeah, boy. Can I let Josh shot? Yeah, I'll give you an attack. What we'll do is we'll roll into initiative and then I'll give you like an basically like a surprise round, an opportunity attack, almost legolas picking off the front, front ork from a massive, massive distance. OK, so did anyone get 25 plus? Yes, that me.
00:32:41
Speaker
I thought I'd cut at the middle, man. Right, Karsten, what'd you get anyway? I got 26. I rolled a natural 20 and I added 6 to it. Fuck you. Did anyone get 20 plus? Drago. I rolled a natural 20 and got a 3. Says 23. And I bet you thought you were going first or something like that. I did not, because I saw on roll 20, I saw Will had got, and I was like, well, I'm fucked in this battle, man. What have I got? A sword. I'm going to be a sword and it flies.
00:33:09
Speaker
have did anyone get 15 to 20 yeah oh loads of people 17 robin 16 16 falling 15 oh lovely you are literally in order thank you very much that's perfect if only you had an axe that you could throw that would come back i'm not attuned to it man you already thought about using the axe of olaf that might be actually a laugh 10 plus 5 plus
00:33:34
Speaker
One plus? Jesus, Darren. What did you get, Robbit? What did you get, Claude? Three! What did you roll? Did you just roll a three? Dos. Good lord. And that is disgustingly low. That's really nice. That's fun, actually. It works, actually, for how you were kind of reacting to everything happening.
00:33:54
Speaker
So it kind of works that you'd be shuffling around in your armor, weighing yourself a little bit. Okay, what we are going to do there is introduce one kind of pot shot. Robin, I'm going to assume you're low in the round order because you've lined up this kind of super long-range shot as these creatures have kind of been diving down towards you. So I'm going to give you a kind of, basically a surprise round, so to speak, because you've got the distance on them. And then I'll go to the top of the order to cast Andrago and beyond down that way.
00:34:21
Speaker
Okay so Robin you see these creatures kind of coming in from a distance and you're like finally some distance I can use my sharpshooter trait. What would you like to do? So Robin whilst hearing the puree that's going off between Folly, Castan and Claude is just going to look at Helena and then look down at Drago and
00:34:41
Speaker
and Tali and think we're about to have some trouble and it's going to take an arrow immediately off his back and immediately line up a shot at the one that is diving that looks like it's going to lead the charge towards us and what Robin is going to do is he's just going to unleash a shot in its direction.
00:35:00
Speaker
Nice. Just for argument's sake, Darren, I'll give you an action, so to speak. So if you can do more than one thing with an action, of course, you can do two shots. Yeah, that's what I'll do. One action. I should have clarified that. Okay, so you want to roll to hit? Yeah, 24 to hit on my first. Nice. That does hit. Okay, it takes...
00:35:17
Speaker
Seven points of magical pit damage of a silver arrow careens underneath the left wing into its abdomen. And as you see the arrow kind of arc off into the distance, it catches it ever so slightly. You hear a slight noise from it and it continues its descent. Second hit? Yeah, hearing the feeling probably even more unnerved by how disgusting it sounds, he goes to shoot again, not as good, rolls a 15.
00:35:44
Speaker
That second arrow as the first arrow hit you hit the second arrow bits dove. It's noticed you now shooting from a distance I managed just a bank just ever so slightly to allow you to miss where you was going to hit the other wing And so unfortunately that one does miss we'll go back to the top of the round robin my shooting their cast and
00:36:02
Speaker
Is there anything you would like to do from your position? You're at the back carts. We've got Folly and Karsten on the back cart furthest away from them as they're at the front. Followed by Claude in the middle cart with Robin and Helena in front and entirely Andrago closest, actually, to these creatures as they are diving down. Karsten, anything you'd like to do? Yeah, when they move within 150 feet range, I will cast a fifth level fireball at them. Okie dokie. So is that if any of them or all of them? If the moment that...
00:36:30
Speaker
Yeah, for the moment, any of them come within 150 feet, I will launch the fireball at the one that gets the closest first. Okie dokie, thank you very much for kind of holding that spell option for when that happens. Lovely. Anything else you want to do, Karsten? No, that's it. Bangin'. Cool. Drago, you're up next. You see these creatures, you're kind of closest to them and you can hear cacophony and noise from behind you as you see two arrows shoot off into the distance. Tally's there going, oh shit, oh shit, oh shit, oh shit, and quickly going through her spell book. Is there anything you'd like to do?
00:37:00
Speaker
Yes, so Drago will take out Dangon's Deception, kind of look down at it and look at the flying monsters, and turn to Tali, get to the corner of the cart and get ready to cast spells. I'll stand in front of you and
00:37:20
Speaker
Shield you, but I'm gonna need your skills here, Tally, rather than mine. But I will hold action after doing that. If anyone gets within 30 feet, I will use Dragon Fear and make anyone who's within there frightened of me.
00:37:39
Speaker
for a minute if they succeed, if they fail on a saving throw. So yeah, is that correct to say? Hold action, I will hold action. So basically there's Tally behind me, me out, sword out, looking out, and as soon as they come into range, I'm gonna make them shit themselves through my looks alone.
00:37:56
Speaker
nice i love it i'm not holding actions fantastic and it is these creatures turn they are going to they break off into a formation they break the formation slightly and start to spread further out the lead uh of the v of these three creatures head stroke towards thali and drago's car probably about
00:38:16
Speaker
30 feet away, so there's two actions going to take place at the same time. The one off his corner has gone to an empty cart to the north and another creature that was left of him has gone to the south slightly, moving towards where the other party members are. So one seems to be kind of circling round, one's aiming straight for the cart with Drago and Tali. First things first, Castan, is he in range, that front one, of your spell?
00:38:40
Speaker
Yes, so the line of range was this with this and you've moved that top one away, so he's not within 20 feet you bastard So I will launch my fifth level fireball at this This lead central point. Okay on the lead one. So it's a deck safety saving throws. All right 19
00:38:59
Speaker
Oh, it passes, so it only takes half damage. Yes! One moment. I'll cast it then. Okay, so it takes 39 fire damage and then you need to halve that. So as this creature finally comes into range cast and you've got your spark kind of lined up and as you follow it across the sky light, as you know it reaches a range that you can cast the spell up to, you fire it out. But because you're casting it into air and not onto a specific target, maybe this is something you aren't as used to and so it's kind of
00:39:28
Speaker
Detonation is slightly different. You aren't quite ready for it because this is the very extreme of your range, which means the creature has more time to kind of bank and move out of the way at the last minute. It still gets a good bit of damage on the underside of its chest and it lets out a bit of a squawk, but the creature still manages to fly towards the cart. Drago, this same front creature has headed towards you and will be in range for your dragon fear. So is that another spell save for me?
00:39:56
Speaker
Yep, as soon as he steps in the range, he gets a cacophony of a dragon roar in his face, spit, and dinner comes up from Drago's mouth as he's roaring. Tally will probably have to plug her ears at this point. And it's a DC-14 wisdom saving throw, please. Oh, it's an actual 20. Oh, he is. Not frightened by my peacocking.
00:40:19
Speaker
That's not how I roar. That's not make that cannon. That is not how I roar. OK, so you turn around and absolutely hammer your dragon fear at this creature, but it doesn't seem to affect it in any way, shape or form as it continues to fly slightly singed at quite some speed towards you. That is the end of their turn. Helena, it's your turn. You can hear, you should watch the fireball go off. You've heard this massive roar from in front of you, anything you would like to do.
00:40:48
Speaker
Yes, I'm going to attack. Oh no, I'm not going to attack. I'll be jumping down. How far down is it? It's 300, 400 feet. Right. Okay. I am. You could jump down if you wanted to. It'll take you a couple of turns. And you probably get squashed. Probably going to fucking die mate. You don't have any ranged equipment.
00:41:11
Speaker
Oh, I'm going to... Shall we go back, please? Sorry, thanks. Sorry. Is there anything in the cart other than me and Robin? You can have a look around. Yeah, there's some debris in the corner. There's some rocks, some leftover kind of masonry that would have been taken down in the carts, but hadn't emptied the last trip down that you could use. Probably about... give me a second.
00:41:32
Speaker
there are has another natural 20 that's two doctor trains in a row there are 20 usable sections of masonry that's kind of hand size that you could possibly use or throw which could act as an improvised that's exactly what i'm going to do i'm going to take whatever looks the heaviest um say heaviest something that's going to do damage but i can throw at least uh 30 feet i'm going to aim it to the skeleton that is north
00:42:00
Speaker
east to my carriage that's probably going to be slightly out of range for you to throw that far that's quite a that's quite a distance to throw it has the cart stopped no no they're still moving they're moving so do you know what i'm so sorry i'm going to skip my turn do you want to hold an action
00:42:19
Speaker
Yes, she's going to be frantically looking around. She knows she can't attack from here. She's going to be looking around the carts for anything to throw. She'll find a bunch of masonry in the corner and she'll pick up rocks or whatever is around to be able to throw at this thing. She knows she can't reach it now, so she's going to wait, but she'll have it in her hand ready.
00:42:37
Speaker
Okey-dokey, so hold my action. Lovely, thank you very much. Robin, we've come back round to you, fired two early volley shots off into this front creature. You've seen everything that's just taken place. What would you like to do now? I have a feeling you're gonna shoot them, maybe?
00:42:49
Speaker
Yeah, you would have a correct feeling. So Robin can see the two that are approaching the carts in the most direct order. He sees the one that just basically looks completely unperturbed by Drago. So Robin's, here's what's happened. Robin's let his shots go. These things have come in close. He's heard Drago roar, which has immediately took his attention over to where Drago is. And the shot instinctively goes off to the one that's approaching Drago entirely first. All right, roll to hit them, please.
00:43:18
Speaker
That's a 28 to hit. Yep, that hits, absolutely. It takes 10 points of magical piercing damage. Lovely, the shot hits into the shoulder, the left shoulder, the same shoulder that you hit on the previous shot as Alex had another squeak, not squawk.
00:43:34
Speaker
Robin will then glance around and see that one is also coming in a bit due south a bit on the map it's southeast of where it is but it's kind of he glances along on the skyline and sees another one also coming in and is then going to put out his second arrow and quickly shoot at that one okay take a hit uh 22 to hit yeah that hits this one takes seven points of magical bludgeoning damage our piercing damage
00:44:01
Speaker
Lovely and this one just glances into a part of the wing actually and it kind of breaks through one of these smaller bones which makes up these kind of innocuous but very large and deadly looking wings as it pierces through causing a little bit of damage to the creature.
00:44:17
Speaker
Anything else you want to do Robin? This is a Callum if the DM will permit me moment. Yes! Robin will just go through his, he will take off his bat, his satchel and he'll go through that and he'll find the bow that he had before it was, before he took the one off Canard and we'll just slide it across the floor in Helena's direction and go, if you know how to use that and that would be the end of my turn.
00:44:43
Speaker
Nice. Awesome. I love that. Love the image, Robin. Thank you very much. Folly, over to you. At the back cart, you can hear a kerfuffle in front of you as you and Castan. As Castan launched off a fireball earlier, what would you like to do?
00:44:57
Speaker
Folly with a Blitzer Speed is basically going to turn to Castland and say, what's wrong, Castland? If we had to get your hands dirty, and he's basically going to specifically use a couple of Sorcerer's Points to cast it as a bonus action, basically cast Fly on himself. Oh, I love the spellcaster dick measuring we have going on already. Very nice. So you're casting Fly on yourself.
00:45:24
Speaker
I'm casting fire on myself, but I've done it as a bonus action, so I've took a couple of Sorcerer's points as well. Could you roll a d20 for me, please, Callum? You dick. You're the wild sorcerer, not me. Yep, yep, yep, yep. Woo-hoo, ten. Yep, absolutely fine, continue. Folly's just going to move to about... He's basically going to blitz forward at 60 feet as fast as what he possibly can.
00:45:48
Speaker
So just now level with Claude in front of him. So we've just seen this flying folly right next to him now. Amazing. He's going to pull out the scroll that we picked up from the hollows of chain lightning. He had a look at it earlier and just realized it was a fantastic opportunity to use the spell. So can you make a dexterity saving throw for all three?
00:46:13
Speaker
Yep 13, 10 and 16. Cool, that's good to use as my normal one which all those fail. Is this the tier 2 stock magic scroll? This is a normal scroll that you get with one for chain lightning that was in the hollows.
00:46:29
Speaker
So Follies is going to take it out, start reading it, start surrounding himself with sparks and start flying off, and then just it's like one colossal bolt of lightning flies to the one that is in front of Drago and Thali, and then as it hits that one, it's going to split off to the other two as well, because it can jump to them as long as they're within 30 feet of it. They will all take 41 points of lightning damage.
00:46:57
Speaker
Lovely, bear with me as I just... Callum continues to fuck over my buddies. I'm here to make things challenging. I shall delete the spell.
00:47:08
Speaker
I gave it to you for a reason. Lovely. So the rest of you see this tiny little figure with a massive backpack take off and just zip towards the enemy and all of a sudden this colossal bolt and almost centralized beam of lightning just shoots straight towards the middle one before splitting out to both the other ones and they literally jolt up a couple of feet and all three of them let out a cacophony of noise, of pain, of agony, of screams as this lightning seeks through them all.
00:47:37
Speaker
sorry, seeps through them all. The one to the south, which is closest to the ground, not by much though, you actually see a connection where the lightning actually leaves its body and strikes the ground leaving a really bad scorch mark, 300 feet below it, giving you some idea and credence to the power of that scroll that Folly just cast. Thank you, Folly. Anything else you want to do?
00:47:56
Speaker
No, no, that's it. That will be in my turn. Kraken, thank you very much, Folly. Tali, it's her turn. She's going to turn to the one that Drago, you just shouted at and try and cast a fireball to that. She's going to roll a 13, which unfortunately misses as that first hit shoots over the head of this creature. Because it moved due to the lightning, the chain lightning, unfortunately, she missed that hit. OK, Claude, your turn. You can see these creatures now swarming around the

Drago's cart in danger

00:48:22
Speaker
party. What would you like to do?
00:48:23
Speaker
All I can do at this distance is I will summon a spectral weapon, no spiritual weapon. So my axe will just disappear off my back and appear just centimeters out of the hand of Drago's offhand. And this executioner's axe also takes up defensive position in the cart between Tali and the incoming Eagles of Death. The Eagles of Death, like the Eagles of Death metal.
00:48:53
Speaker
Yep. That's all I can do from this range. Lovely. Thank you very much. Do the carts move at the end of our turns then? They do, but I'm having trouble moving them all. I want to move them all at the same time. Lovely. Top of the round. Cast down. Your turn. What would you like to do?
00:49:08
Speaker
So being as Follies abandoned me in the cart, I'm going to move to the top corner, basically just getting myself just a little bit closer. I'm then going to use Bardic Inspiration to give Claude Bardic Inspiration. So he gets to add a D10 to an attack roll saving throw. Thank you, my lover. Because you're the only one apart from Follies in range. And then if it ain't broke, don't fix it. So I'm going to throw another fireball at it. Yeah, baby.
00:49:37
Speaker
Yeah, it's all we can really do. Apologies for this, Mark. I'm just trying to... Yeah, so I'm going to cast a fourth level fireball at the one that is closest to the east, which is closer to Drago and Tali's cart. So the one that's taken the punishing so far. Yeah, absolutely. Okay. Dexterity saving throw, yeah?
00:50:01
Speaker
Oh, I'm not even kidding. That is another natural 20. I've rolled three natural 20s. Yeah, he's using rolled 29. Man, the fucker. I'll happily start using rolled 20 if you want. No, no, no, I was only teasing. Right, okay, here we go. Cases for you, man. Remember all those games where I was rolling like threes and fours for entire combat? That's all I'll say. This is my recompense.
00:50:23
Speaker
happened in the time when there's fucking flying enemies. Right, it needs to take 18 fire damage and I've already halved that for you. 18? Yes. Good, I'm glad it's 18 and not 8E. That's great, thank you very much. There is another fireball comes smashing down and exploding. Slightly better aim to this one, but the creature is more aware of it and still catches some really bad damage on its left wing as it continues to fly towards the target. Anything else you want to do? I think you're done, aren't you? Movement, fire, inspiration. Yeah, I've done my bonus action, I've moved and I've cast as a caption, so that's me done.
00:50:52
Speaker
Thank you very much. Drago, your turn. This creature keeps flying towards you and keeps him to be hit by these massive explosions in the air. And you can hear Folly flying in the air off to the south as well. What would you like to do? He can fly. He can fly. He can fly. He can talk. He can talk? That's right, fool. I'm a flying talking Folly. But you've seen a house fly. Maybe even a horse fly. But you've never seen a donkey fly. Folly fly. Never seen a gnome fly.
00:51:22
Speaker
Just continued back up so that Tali's protected, saw Dengon's deception out and just forever waiting for if they're stupid enough to come into the range of a sword. Oh it'll throw a thanks guys from everyone else doing the work and that's my go doing.
00:51:43
Speaker
amazing thank you very much and guess what guys it's their turn they're coming in for a party time so the front creature that's taking the punishing damage is going to come into range and kind of grab a hold of the chain link on that corner that is currently attaching to you and then you really get a sense of the size of this the entire cart leans over to the side slightly as the weight of this creature uh is becomes apparent to you whoa fuck
00:52:12
Speaker
And does that trigger an opportunity attack from Draghi? I didn't store one. I didn't hold one. He wouldn't have assumed that they were stupid enough to come close. So he's just backing up in a defensive stance for Tali. He's not holding an action.
00:52:27
Speaker
So the other two creatures have moved around. The furthest north one is kind of banking around the group and coming down the opposite side. The other two have engaged with the two carts in a similar fashion. They've grabbed a hold of the chain links. One of them has basically had to sprint in and used its kind of dash action to attach itself to the cart with Helena and Robin in it. Robin who's been firing the arrows and just slid over the bow to Helena who's picked up a lot of rocks.
00:52:51
Speaker
And the other one is attached to Drago and Tali's cart with the spiritual weapon in that. Is that right, Darren? Danny? Yeah, okay. And the one that's in front, it looks towards the two people and the spiritual weapon that are residing within the cart. It's got a lot of this...
00:53:08
Speaker
noise and with two swift hits it's going to hit the nearest thing to it which happens to be Drago. It's first swing with its massive claw is going to be a 23 against your armor class. Yeah that hits. You're going to take 10 points of slashing damage. The second claw is another 23 to hit. Yeah that hits.
00:53:27
Speaker
and that's 13 points of slashing damage and that's this two massive claws come in and just swipe swipe it you almost you weren't expecting them to move in this quickly and then it quickly its eyes look up and look back at you and the massive scorpion tail is going to smash up into the base of these three sorry these four chain links it's trying to aim for one of the chain links these have an AC and they have health and it's going to
00:53:52
Speaker
Oh, fuck. It's going to take a hit into that first chain link and shit, that was a lot of damage. Okay, bear with, bear with, bear with.
00:54:02
Speaker
It hits into the base of this set of chains, one of the chains, meaning that that corner it's currently attached to comes loose as you realise the cart now is only held by three other points as that chain thuds to the side of the cart. That's the end of that one's turn. The other two creatures have dashed and so are unable to use their turn.
00:54:23
Speaker
Drago and Tali's cart is in slight peril, and that is the end of their turn. Drago taking some damage. Helena, you have a creature not two feet in front of your face now, just attached itself to the chain link fence and staring into the cart with you and Robin in. What would you like to do? I think I know the answer, but what would you want? I'm going to drop the rock and pick up my flail. Yes, ma'am. People's rubber. You just dropped Dwayne the Rock Johnson. Is that what you're doing? Drop that fool.
00:54:54
Speaker
I'm gonna pick up my flail does that take an action? I'm gonna say you've you've you've been having that you've got them kind of stored in your sides anyway you never would have kind of put them down when these creatures appeared you'd have picked up the rock no I consider it if anything a bonus action that's the rule I've kind of made up recently the switching weapons is like a bonus action at best so okay fine so my flails will do the trick slash hoping so does the 16 hit
00:55:18
Speaker
It does not, so almost the speed at which this creature comes in, you swing it up just in time, and it moves its head back at the last second, just missing the creature, unfortunately. Oh, fuck. Okay. My second roll, 18. Come on, Heather. That also misses, but this time it's gonna make contact, but it brings up one of its claws and just pushes it up at the last minute, causing it to glance over its head as it looks back down with these piercing blue eyes, tiny head and skull, staring at you, almost hunchbacked.
00:55:46
Speaker
in mockery to quote hunchback in the park by Dylan Thomas. Well, Helen is going to mock him back and do the back at him before rolling a 24. Come on. For what? Deception. I'm sorry, for third attack. No, for third attack, but I can roll deception as well. Hold on one sec. No, it wouldn't be deception. It would be performance. But let me just do that damage first. So yeah, it's your offhand attack, isn't it?
00:56:11
Speaker
No, she's three main hand attacks, one off-hand attack. Fuck me in the butt, that's brilliant. Okay, I forgot about that. Yeah, roll that damage. Okay, that's a nine. Nine points of damage. Kraken. Okay, you smack it in like the shoulder with your third attack as it comes in with your flail again. It just kind of glances off, but does a little bit of damage. Yeah, now you've got your off-hand attack, haven't you? My off-hand attack is 25. That hits. And my damage is nine.
00:56:38
Speaker
Oh, you're consistent. I forget how consistent you are, Casey. I love it. Thank you very much. Anything else you want to do, Casey? Do I need to... Yeah, do I need to roll anything for a bit of an intimidation or something? Yeah, go on. Roll for intimidation. Let's just see. Why not? Oh, go ahead. Nine. That's an eight. You got a minus one to charisma, haven't you? Oh, no. Yeah, no, actually. No shit. I haven't got my glasses on. It's actually a six.
00:57:05
Speaker
Oh, okay. It doesn't seem to react to your very terrifying, you thought you'd be a really good one. So I may as well have just got a la la la la. Pretty much, yeah. That sounded a bit dodgy. We won't go there. Lovely, thank you very much, Helena. Robin, your turn. This thing is now on your cart and you can see in front of you another one is on the cart with Drago and Tali. What would you like to do?
00:57:26
Speaker
Okay, in the split seconds of Robin seeing Helena go for the one that's attacking our cart, Robin's going to lean over and look to shoot the one in the first instance that is going for Drago and Talia's cart. You might have issues of sight line there because it's on the corner you'd have that's kind of through Helena. Okay, I'll move down to the front of the cart. Then you'll be able to get there. I'm bearing in mind I ignore half and three-quarter cover as well. Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, yeah.
00:57:53
Speaker
Cool. So, first one is a 19 to hit. That hits. It's going to take sneak attack as well because it's engaged with Draugate. It takes 18 points of magical piercing damage. Okay, lovely. Thank you very much. And it makes a strength saving throw please. 17. Meets and beats. It does take 3 points of force damage.
00:58:16
Speaker
No problem. I will deduct that now. Thank you very much, Robin, for that hit. Are you going for a little hit? Having seen it's clinging on, I'm going to shoot it again. Okie dokie, go for it. 25 to hit. Hits. 10 points of magical piercing damage and another strength saving throw, please. Lovely. Takes the damage as it hits directly into the center of the chest and lets out a ear piercing scream. 15.
00:58:38
Speaker
fails it's going to move uh 10 feet away i think it's up to 10 feet i'm allowed to do it sorry i haven't done this for ages and it's complete yeah it's up to 10 feet i remember okay 10 feet away from drago prompting an opportunity attack and getting it off their cart yep go for that opportunity attack drago hell yeah suck on this 20 motherfucking three that does hit you're damn right it hits
00:59:07
Speaker
Here we go, Dengon's deception flashes out and there's a triumphant smile and a gleam of glee and Drago's cold eyes as he brings it down to 19 points of slashing damage.
00:59:21
Speaker
Fuck me. It's a nerf your sword at some point. Nerf your face. Oh yeah, lovely. As you catch this creature directly across the face causing it's jawbone. No, no, no, no, no. 16 points of slashing damage. It added rage. I'm not raging.
00:59:39
Speaker
You are not raging. You aren't raging. Okay. Interesting. Lovely. That's why I took that damage when he hit me. So that's all been good up until now. I played it above board. I've just noticed because I did the auto roll on the companion app between D&D Beyond and roll 20. It thought I was raging. Well, I'm not. Please sponsor us. Just in case you want it to be there. Exactly. Yeah. Okay. Lovely. Thank you, Robin. Anything else you want to do with your action? That was your two attacks. Anything else to do?
01:00:07
Speaker
yeah having seen this one be pushed back as the arc did you get the six points of force damage yeah okay great having seen this one get pushed back and seen the arcane fury can i gauge how hurt it is the one that's just been pushed back yeah give me a perception check sure 19 you can see from the motor which it was flying now compared to what it was flying before this creature looked quite badly damaged yes the damage to the bone structure of the wings looks like its ability to fly has been
01:00:35
Speaker
severely affected. Okay, Robin at this point doesn't know there's any immediate danger to his cart, so I can't meta it. He's going to assume that Helena, having seen her just crash into this thing, has that one in hand. He has seen a wire come off Drago and Tali's cart however, so I'm going to axe and shurge and shoot it again. Nice, go for it.
01:00:58
Speaker
That's a 23 to hit. That hits. That's nine points of magical piercing damage. Nice, another hit, thuds into the chest of this creature as it continues to falter in its flying. Okay, I can see it's looking pretty hurt now. And Robin would instinctively shoot it again. I want to turn around and shoot the one behind us, but he wouldn't. Robin would shoot that one.
01:01:21
Speaker
Okay, roll to hit. 20, not natural. That hits. It takes another seven points of magical piercing damage. Lovely. Anything else you want to do with that, Robin? I'm out. Bonus action. I can't hide, I can't disengage, I can't dash. No problem. That last arrow thuds deep into its right shoulder, its offhand shoulder, away from what you can see. As you continue to pummel arrows into this creature, it looks like it is beginning to falter.
01:01:49
Speaker
Thank you very much. Folly, your turn. You're flying off to the east away from the cart in line with Claude. You can see a creature hanging on in front of you to Robin and Helen's cart and one that seems to be faltering off Drago and Tali's cart and one far off to the north above the others that isn't attached to any of the carts at the moment. What would you like to do? Folly is basically going to carry on flying straight up and kind of position himself in between the cart that has Drago and Tali and the cart that has
01:02:19
Speaker
Robin and Helena. They have 60 feet of movement, which puts him right about there, really. He is going to cast Firebolt, and he's also going to use some nice sorcerers' points, because let's face it, I've got lots of those.
01:02:40
Speaker
he's beta only needs to use one sorcerers point to target two because I'm using a cantrip so I can target both the weird flying skeleton that's at Drago and Talia's cart and the weird flying skeleton at Robin and Helen's cart okay lovely roll to hit it would go through with two separate attacks I believe I'd consider it two separate attacks yeah
01:03:04
Speaker
Okay, so we'll do Drago's first. 24 to hit. That hits. The one up at the top takes 18 points of fire damage. Wow, nice. Thank you very much. The one at the bottom. Oh no, I've got a natural one. So that's just 10. Unfortunately, that does miss, but your first hit thuds into this creature as its wing seems to almost be just hanging on, is it?
01:03:30
Speaker
And it's just other right wingers working overtime to try and keep it upright as this creature seems to almost be falling apart with the damage of that firebolt. The other creature, unfortunately, as you put some focus into that first one, as you turn to the second one, I'm not used to casting a double firebolt the way you have. It flies slightly out of control above head. Remember, you're casting flying as well, so maybe it's the wind, Augusta Wind put you off slightly from that position.
01:03:53
Speaker
Anything else you want to do, Folly? He's basically going to look at Drago in the car, realise that he's kind of just on guard duty at the moment, and just kind of yell at him. You can join me if you want. You don't need only to ask. Amazing.
01:04:09
Speaker
And that will be the end of Folly's turn. Lovely. Thank you very much. Tylee's going to take a pot shot of this creature that's hanging on to dear life rolling. Not very well. 15, 15, which misses. So another firebolt goes directly towards the creature that you just targeted, Folly. And unfortunately, it does miss. Claude, over to you. You can see a creature that Helena is currently in combat with just in front of you, from the cart in front of you, 30, 40 feet away from you. What would you like to do?
01:04:37
Speaker
Okay. Okay. Okay. So, question to you about our current suspension situation there, Mark.

Claude's daring zipline attempt

01:04:46
Speaker
How high is it from where the chains are fixed to the carts to the rail that they're attached to that's monorailing us down? Seven and a half feet. Okay. If
01:04:57
Speaker
if i wanted to climb said rails and then like almost zip line much further down because right now me and cast and we're stuck at the back there's nothing going on and obviously we're going downhill so i've got the added momentum sure yeah
01:05:14
Speaker
I love how you find this. I weigh a lot. And I'm not very capable of much. So I'm unsure whether, like, could I do like a pre think, think to see is that a good idea? I'm because I'm conflicted as to whether I think that's a good idea.
01:05:37
Speaker
doesn't know whether it's a good idea for me to try and zip line down to one of the two carts where it's busier.
01:05:46
Speaker
So there's a couple of modes in which I could respond to you here. Firstly, from a D&D player to a D&D player, that's your call. As a DM to a PC, I would say 100% do it, that'd be fucking hilarious. And deadly, and drama, and I love all those things. As a character level, there's no role I can make you do to check if something is correct. I can't even make you check for morally correct.
01:06:10
Speaker
Yeah so it's really down to Claude's confidence and Claude's feeling of threat to Helena and how he feels about his moral integrity about looking after members of the sleep guardian royal family really. It's everyone at this point like I feel too far away to be of any support. I'm sure Kastan is saying
01:06:34
Speaker
wwcd yeah what would claud do i'm going to first use my bonus action to move my spiritual weapon out and attack the guy the flying thing that's hitting uh tali and drago's cart okay roll the hit please yes uh this is going to be a 20 non-natural that hits sweet he takes
01:07:02
Speaker
15 points of force damage. Oh god, it's so close. Okay, yep. As this massive hit of energy smashes into the creature, its left wing almost is now literally falling off, it's now an unusable wing. And I'm gonna do it. I'm going to... Yes, so I'm going to use Bastion, my shield.
01:07:23
Speaker
got two arm guards on it and I'm going to climb up the chain and put like one hold on to either side of the leather strapping that I used to fix Basti into my arm. In between those two leather strappings is the zip line itself and I'm going to try and
01:07:40
Speaker
almost, yeah, zipline at least to Helen, Aaron Robbins. But maybe, you know, if it goes well, I'll try and get to Jago and Talies. Give me two seconds just to plan out the skill challenge I'm going to do. I love this. I love this so much. I mean, obviously, you know, I'm fairly strong, so I should be able to do this.
01:08:01
Speaker
I don't forget your body inspiration that you can use before he told you. Yes, I do. I'm definitely doing this. My my my doubt has gone because the inspiration would have made would have laid those fears.
01:08:15
Speaker
I'm a low intelligence man. It doesn't take much to give me some courage. Okay, I have a skill challenge set up for you. What is going to happen is if I'm going to run, you're going to run acrobatics, athletics, sleight of hand. But before that, I imagine that Claude would do a little prayer to Akiva. What I've set is a really high DC for this religion check to start a software. And if you get the religion check, I add a plus four naturally to all three of your
01:08:37
Speaker
skill challenges as you kind of Akiva gives you a little bit of a hand so that's I've set that as a very high DC but if you manage to get that you get kind of a plus four I'm not gonna tell you what it is so could you give me a religion check first of all to see if you get it that is a six mark that is a big fat six as a sex mark or a six
01:08:57
Speaker
Either or, if it's sex, would it increase my number? No, this isn't Catholicism, it wouldn't make a difference. Unfortunately not. So, okay, we can negate that. Yes, that makes it more challenging. Good, okay. So, your first step is your acrobatics to be able to nimbly get up and grab a hold of a position where you'll be able to put your shield bastion over the top. So it's going to be an acrobatics check to start us off, please. I'm sorry, nimble? Well, you have to get up onto the edge of the cart and able to grab the top of the...
01:09:26
Speaker
Nimble Claude. That's something we've been saying for the past year. Nimble Claude. It sounds like the Christmas version of Claude. Nimble Claude. He's quite spry for an old man. Quattro. Our old Quattro.
01:09:41
Speaker
Have you put your Bardock inspiration on that? I'm going to add the Bardock inspiration. Is it a d10 you said? One d10 you can add to it before he tells you. Okay, okay. 14. You got the 10. Thank you Will. I'm fucking glad you got the 10. The DC was 13 so you passed that one.
01:09:59
Speaker
Okay, so you managed to get up, but as you get up, you want to slip forward a little bit, but you hear the voice of Karstan ringing in your head, being, be sure of foot, Karstan, in part of his song, he sings over his pan flutes to you, and you're like, okay, and you get your fitting right, and you manage to grab ahold of the thick, I mean, it's a thick boy you've got above you, the cable that you're trying to put your shield around. You pull your shield off and
01:10:25
Speaker
throw it over and as you attach your arms into it and you start to slide down, it's going to be an athletics check to see if you can hold on using your arm strength in order to hold you and your armour up above your head. Not up above your head but hold yourself in position with your sword sliding down. As you start to slide and you let go of the cart behind you, your feet leave that cart and you hear the
01:10:49
Speaker
As you start to run Bastion, leather side up, not polished side up, along, you're holding onto each of the leather straps and your heavy armour starts to really weigh you down. You've got the strength in your arms and able to hold you up. You get about halfway where it runs over one of the larger chain links and causes you to bump. Your left arm drops, letting go of the leather strap and therefore your right arm comes smashing down with Bastion still attached to it.
01:11:13
Speaker
As you try and reach your loose left arm up to try and grab a hold of the wire, unfortunately all you manage to do is slap it and as your arms and legs start to flail you realise you are in free fall. You are 300 to 400 feet off from the ground and as you see the thick wire leave your hands and start to realise what is happening to you. That's where we're going to leave this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. Danny, Danny, Danny, please save Claude.

The mission to save Claude

01:11:39
Speaker
Bring him home. Bring him home. We can't wait a week for that. My bum is going to have to. And it's going to remain clenched like cement all week while I wait for this. In my defense, if anyone wants to give me abuse, in my defense, the DCs were 13, 14 and 12. I mean, you're level 11, 12. And you shouldn't know when you're rolling low without barter inspiration. I know.
01:12:04
Speaker
I had a past seven to the modifier versus the natural one, which... Because you got the strength, haven't you? You got the strength, athletics. Yeah, natural one, man. Right. We're going to have to... We've got a week, guys. We're going to have to figure out... Well, you're going to have to figure out how we're going to save Claude. Bring him home, like the Martian.
01:12:20
Speaker
We've got a whole fucking NASA team for you, man. They're just waiting for... Well, no, because Glor's already in flight. He's just got to go straight down and he's home. And if you want to come home... Sorry, Darren. I was just going to say, three of us are going to be useless in trying to save because we're not casters. So it's on the casters. And don't be like us. Don't be useless.
