Introduction to Bellum Draconis

00:00:32
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop, Bellum Draconis. We are a live play 5e D&D podcast set in the magical home-brewed world of Eryth in the Kingdom of Sleepguard. My name is Mark, I am the Dungeon Master and also with us for this week's episode we have Ian who plays the Tiefling Warlock next Corel. Yeah baby! We've got Darren who plays the High Elf Artifice of Rainshadow. Yeah baby! We've got Will who plays the Human Cleric Emron.
00:00:58
Speaker
Yeah, baby. And Callum replaced the Warforged Artificer, Alpha. Yeah, baby. I've still got written on this little sheet that I have to give you the introduction. Plays with his nipples because he's topless. I know that's a throwback to last week, but it's also- That counts for a lot of us this week. It's active for this week as well, because again, two weeks in a row, Callum, I'm pleased to say you're topless. Of course. I was- And you've converted.
00:01:26
Speaker
And you've converted another person on the podcast to join you. Darren, it's amazing. The freedom of being naked is quite infectious, I think. I think infectious is the key word. It's not the only thing infectious. You need to put a cream on that

Recap of Goldview Incident

00:01:41
Speaker
rash. Let's pass over to our rules consortium, Will, for an update on what happened on last week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. Previously on The Fellowship of the Tabletop.
00:01:52
Speaker
things got a little bloody in Goldview. Whilst they were enjoying their breakfast, or Nix was enjoying chewing the ear off some NPCs that really didn't want to talk back, Sir Tanner Barry appeared in the alleyway, bleeding, collapsing to the floor, Emron called for help. Not many people actually heard him call for help, so eventually everyone came along and they brought Sir Tanner Barry in.
00:02:20
Speaker
While Rains, Alpha and Emron tended to Sir Tana Barry, Nix used a bit of initiative for once and went following the trail of blood. Sculking through the streets of Goldview, he followed the blood to an alleyway where it seemed Sir Tana Barry had paused. Unfortunately, the blood trail went cold.
00:02:45
Speaker
Returning to the others, he found that the three heroes from Shadow Men had healed up Satana Barry and they've discovered a few things. Satana Barry had followed the clues of the group into the sewers and found the jade blood drops and also a demon hound.
00:03:09
Speaker
The demon hound mauled Sir Tannibari, and he returned to our heroes, giving them a clear mission. Morota would be leaving the city in a few days, taken by the Jade Blooddrops to Dralak, where they hoped to turn in the bounty of this apparently famous assassin known as Valkyrie.

Preparations for Saving Marota

00:03:33
Speaker
So, in response to this great plot twist, Nick says, let's go shopping.
00:03:42
Speaker
Nice, brilliant, very much. Epic, epic. I forgot why we left off actually. We're in half of it, aren't we? We're in the half of it. We're still in the half of it at the moment. Nick's literally said, I've got a great idea. Let's go shopping. Let's go shopping. Amazing.
00:04:01
Speaker
The inside of the half-heave inn, still relatively quiet by this time of day, one or two more punters have come in, a third enters and disappears down into the basement.
00:04:14
Speaker
You still haven't seen Kennard, but his young apprentice, by the looks of things that's been helping out and a few of you have spoken to in your corralling of Sartanavari into the half-heave inn, is also out from working, feeding people with breakfast, foods and generally inviting guests in.
00:04:34
Speaker
The sun is starting to rise down her and the wind is dropping and the rain has ceased falling leaving small almost rainbows of light in the puddles across the streets of Goldview. We find ourselves huddled in a room with Nick's pretty wide grin on his face of just announcing the possibility of a shopping spree and the rest of you look in holding a moment of anticipation. What would you like to do?

Journey to Gesaltz Sword and Shield

00:05:05
Speaker
I mean, come on, I don't know about you guys, but I could do with some weapons, I could do with some armour, I could do with some supply. If we're going and being true heroes to save our dear friend Marota from the jade blood drops, we need to tool up. I am inclined to agree with Nyx on this one. As I've said, I think... Yeah, yeah, Godboy! Equip ourselves.
00:05:32
Speaker
well enough so that when we go to this elven air place and try and connect with the shadier parts of the city, that wherever our journey takes us, we don't have to suddenly stop if things start becoming more urgent.
00:05:51
Speaker
Anyone else agree? That's not words. It's a sign of indifference to not really understand what's going on. Really struggling this morning to say what you need to say. Do you need some coffee? I could do with some coffee. I think I had some coffee last time. So, Reigns, Nix wants to gear up, get some weapons, get some armour. Armour, I can probably sort for you. I think there's some in my pack, Nix. And we can probably...
00:06:21
Speaker
Get ourselves enough equipment so we don't have to go anywhere. I'm on your honor ain't gonna fit him. Oh, it's not mine. It's off the people that attacked us on boat. Oh, crossing over. Oh, let me just hang on. Let me run around. Is this sea faring armor then if they were on a boat, they weren't very good. But yeah, sure. Someone answer ego is a bit of leather armory ego.
00:06:49
Speaker
Oh, awesome. And he holds it out. He holds it out. It's got this breastplate and shoulder protectors of this arm made from leather. It's been stiffened by being boiled in oil. It looks a bit rough. I think it might look a little bit like there's still a bit of a blood stain on it. And the slight scorch mark on it from where the person was burned. But it looks fine. Now, everyone, look at me.
00:07:15
Speaker
as Nick brings his hands from his head down, his long blue jacket. It's very odd. Swashbuckler boots. Does this really go, especially with this blood stain here, with what I'm wearing? So, you know, there's a phrase from Shadow Men, you might not be familiar with it, called, don't look gift horse in mouth. Who's the gift horse?
00:07:41
Speaker
You have gift horses in Shadow Mend? We do. They carry around with gifts in little pouch on the side of horses. Is this like a special time of year? Maybe once a day? A special gift horse day. A special time of year where a gift horse comes round. Is it called Gift Horse Day? It is called Gift Horse Day, yes. And you can't look

Arrival at Gesaltz and Meeting Milbury

00:08:01
Speaker
it in the mouth? Well, no, because that's not where presents are. Because you die. No, it turns to bite you.
00:08:06
Speaker
So you die? I've never seen anyone die from being... What are you dying from? It's like a horse disease. Probably. I've never seen... Is that the gig? Is this like... I don't... I'm confused. Thanks, Oliver. You and me both. Right, so he's got armour and you want to get some other things before we leave. Is that correct? We need to go find an armour smith, I reckon. And to sell weapons and armour, we can go from there.
00:08:36
Speaker
Okay. It is technological to go into any form of combat without full preparations. We've got science on our side. I do not understand the hesitation. What's science? And what is the hesitation for? Aye, what's what on rinse?
00:08:52
Speaker
Well, I'm all up for going shopping, but I don't think we should spend all our money on... I mean, we need to get any potions and rations. Yeah, that goes with us gearing up. I think it was all encompassed in... It was, yeah, to get supplies. Well, now we're on the same page, I'm all in.
00:09:12
Speaker
Okay, I mean, for the rest of the day- Glad we explained it to you. For the rest of the day, we're all going to be about three pages out of you, but it's fine. That's fine. Anyone in this bar, you, you there. Maybe the young lad. Turns to the young lad via the counter. We're looking for supplies, weapons, tools, armour, potions. Where do we go? Where can we get that stuff?
00:09:36
Speaker
Christ, do I remember his voice? Yeah, of course. So let me just put down these coffees, since you ordered them, they're very popular at the moment, and he runs into the shuffle stand in hands. You should come up with a name for him. And your voice is a bit different from last week, but it might be a different lad. You sound like you have a cold. It's developed over the morning, actually. I've got a bit of... Yes, it's...
00:09:57
Speaker
I tried to drink coffee. Sometimes grinding the beans gets in your sinuses. It came out my nose. Yeah, I sniffed them too close and they went up my nose. You're meant to drink them, not sniff them. Oh, I know that now. I like that the hard way. Oh, sorry. I got sidetracked by forgetting what I sound like. What did you want again? Weapons. Weapons, armour, portions, adventuring supplies.
00:10:21
Speaker
While we're on it, I will take some coffee beans. I will be able to make us coffee on the roads, thanks to NC. And NC's just going to kind of float around with a you're welcome kind of nod. Yep, coffee beans. Hand over some beans to you just in his hand. He's just pulled them out. He could be on the road for a while. I got a bag of Holden more than that. Come on, come on. He just puts a few more handfuls straight onto the bag of Holden. Yep. Yep. Yep. Is that enough? One more for look.
00:10:50
Speaker
Okay, get some other handbook and drops them in. We are good for coffee. You might want to head down south, the other side of the Avlav River. There's... Is it that? Yes, it's Gesaltz Sword and Shield. It's kind of just off from the slums. Gesalt? Gesalt. G-E-S-A-L-T-S. Gesaltz. Gesaltz Sword and Shield.
00:11:19
Speaker
It's, if you reach the, this is, what's nearby actually? There's the Christmas sentiment for administration nearby. Oh, however, though, if you've, if you reach the pits, you've gone too far. So just make sure you come back from that. So it's not against the, just walk south, take the Union Pass,
00:11:42
Speaker
Follow directly south. You'll see it's a big, big sign. He's out front. He's always hammering away. He's got a little forge out there. And this player should be able to source what we need or tell us where else to go. Well, before everything stopped with the flight, they used to supply adventurers like yourself. That was his job. That was what Milbury did, was supply for adventurers. So he's got a bit of everything. And he might also offer you some insurance.
00:12:09
Speaker
As well, you know, if you die, when you die, you know, that kind of stuff. Adventurous policies, you know. Do you sell rations here? This is a, this is a adventuring tavern. You're famous for it. Do you, do you sell rations here? No, just food we cook, really. Nothing that lasts particularly longer than a couple of days. Bread, apart from that, not nothing that you rack. Not the folk who come in here to work, to pilgrimage. You might want to consider that.
00:12:39
Speaker
That's a good idea. I'll pass it on to Kennard. Make sure you do. Enjoy the beans. Oh, we will. Cheers. He kind of smiles. Are you all going then? You as well only points towards the next. Yeah, that was the plant-wide. You need to require my services. No, no, it would just be nice and quiet with... Never mind, it's fine.
00:13:04
Speaker
People are happy to see me leave. Very rarely happy to see me come. But regardless, we shall be on our way and thank you very much for your hospitality. No problem. I'll let Ken out now. You're gone. Thanks again for the advice about the beans. Oh, no problem. What are we going to do with our friend?
00:13:24
Speaker
I think so. Our friend to Sir Tanner Barry is just having a rest in one of our rooms, if that's all right. Oh, yeah, the room is still yours the rest of the day. And I'm sure if Mr. Barry needs to spend a bit more time here, I mean, that's Ken has discretion. And we see him around it quite often. So I mean, he's a good he's a good patron. So don't worry. Do you want us to let him know where you're going? Or if you tell him we're off to get some gear and then we're off to
00:13:53
Speaker
make some enquiries at the elvenir. Elvenir. Okay, I'll pass it on. Is he gonna die? Again referencing. No, no, I have healed him with my special healing tea. He will be fine. Special healing tea. That's the one. Right, okay. Yep. I did also apply some more appropriate salve to heal his wounds if that settles your discomfort.
00:14:19
Speaker
It's just cleaning up a body again. It's not the easiest of things to do. I'm only small. He's quite big. Again? Each to their own. We should probably go. Nice to meet you all. Bye. Good luck with your supplies. Guess how it's arms and armour. No. Yeah. Sword and shield. Guess how it's sword and shield. Bye. They've already gone. Yeah.
00:14:47
Speaker
And yeah, I'm sorry. I assume we've walked out by this point. I've left him. Sorry. This voice just left me a little bit. It was really embarrassing. We head out into the morning and the morning stun sits nine, 10 o'clock in the morning at this point, a few clouds, large clouds.
00:15:03
Speaker
I was going to name a type of cloud, the Nimbus. Nimbus clouds in the sky. I don't know what they... Nimbus 2000 clouds. Well, the clouds, they're big. They're big boys in the clouds. They're white. They're fluffy white ones. They're nice fluffy boys. Look like big pillows. Up in the sky, then clear blue sky behind that. And the sun, the nice warm morning sun shines over the city of Goldview. Where are we off to? We're going south via the Union Pass to find Get Out of Sordenshire. All right. And I'm going to follow.
00:15:32
Speaker
And I will be there. Follow the alibic road. Follow the alibic road. Follow the union path. Follow the union path. We'll have to see the sword guy. The sword guy. I've gone for you. We hope he is a bit of a weird. That was awful. Get some gear.
00:15:55
Speaker
I'll keep going until you tell us we've got that. I'm expecting more of this right now. I'm expecting more of this. Either you DM to us, or we're going to sing the song. It's just like the travel song from the musical from Shrek. Sing a song, it's the travel song. We've got to go somewhere. And then you just, bing, you end up there. Sorry, I was half-muting, there were dogs outside barking. It sounded like dog fights going up. It's not dog fights. We assumed that was just sound effects you'd paid for to make the gold juice seem a bit more real.
00:16:22
Speaker
The dogs of gold you bark around the house that your DM sits in as four intrepid travellers travel south singing an awkward version of an unknown refrain of a song we once heard many a moon ago.
00:16:40
Speaker
The streets are busy in Goldview. The dark smoke that has engulfed the city for the last few days has slowly diminished. People are returning to work. And you start to see, interestingly, the openings of some bunting carry on through the city. You noticed some earlier on when you first encountered the Jade blood drops.
00:17:02
Speaker
And this seems to continue. People are still celebrating. People are still setting up for the celebration of life, the first ever to take place since the blight. Yet, you know you still got a few more days before any of this takes place. Yet there's still a sense of positivity in the air. Small shops, children running past, friends talking in the streets, many people selling their wares as you continue down the busy main thoroughfare of Union Pass.
00:17:29
Speaker
before turning off left down towards our shop, which I've already forgotten the name of, Guess Out Sword and Shield, which is in the south of the city, the other side of the Avlav River. You don't sit near the river, you've passed over it now already, and we actually stayed on the west side of the river the whole time so far.

Discussing Weapons and Armor

00:17:51
Speaker
And as you cut through some of the side streets, many of the side streets in the southern quarter of the city seem to be well looked after. Your adventures in the north and northwest of the city tend towards the more degraded and less camped back alleys and street corners, the places where you'd find people you don't want to find. Yet in this quarter, prosperity seems to have filtered throughout the society.
00:18:19
Speaker
You finally come across a small opening and a small kind of internal square with a small fountain in the center of it. And around the side of it, you see a number of kind of shop fronts, two of which selling fruits and vegetables and general amenities that take place that locals would buy there. And then one sits in front of you, a large
00:18:41
Speaker
stone, kind of large gray stone building, two stories high with a flat roof, which has a large sign on a sword that's been engraved. It's almost like it's comically big, even too big for a large Goliath-like character or a dragonborn character. Too big for that. And across the kind of the
00:19:01
Speaker
The head of the door is this large sword with a massive hilt on the end, almost like... I mean, it's just comical how stupidly large this sword is, but it looks real, and on it is written, Guess Out's sword and shield. It's a large oak door that stands open, and you can see inside a number of torches are already lit on the other side. Just looking around at all this commotion. I know we're about to go in there, but...
00:19:30
Speaker
Nix, aren't you missing rehearsals for your plaything? Are you needed? I'm too good. I don't need to rehearse. So you're an actor? Is that what you do? No, I don't actually perform with the crew. I...
00:19:46
Speaker
I sell the tickets, I host the show, I get people in, I warm up the crowd, the crowd watch the show, and then I collect the money at the end of it. It's a very, very, very, very important role. Without me, there wouldn't be anybody to see the show. And the crew would be very sad about that. Oh, you're like them. We used to have them in shadow men sometimes. They'd stand on the street corner, sort of, saying, oh, come sit, play, come sit, play. Harold's the word. You're a Harold.
00:20:16
Speaker
Fine. If that's the word that you guys use, no problem. It's a pretty common word. It means to announce something is occurring. Okay. I was just curious. What would you call it? Nix's role.
00:20:36
Speaker
We don't really name it. That's just a very formal thing. And I'm not really from a formal background. Okay, fair enough. He does make a point. I have referred to it as a ticket monkey before. There you go. See, even Alpha's got his own weird things. I don't even know how that got programmed into him. Well, he picks these things up. He reads books. He reads all sorts. I'm going to go in. Let's find where we can buy some out stuff.
00:21:03
Speaker
You walk in and you notice to your left as you walk past an anvil and an unkept forge that's still slightly warm but not at a temperature that you know anywhere near hot enough to be forging anything today.
00:21:22
Speaker
you walk into the store and there is only one small window that lets in any light the walls are thick and to keep the space cool away from a forge that's outside you can assume and the space inside is cool almost polished stone underfoot and rack upon rack of
00:21:41
Speaker
swords, shields, armor, everything from your padded all the way through to a full plate. And behind the large oak counter at the far end and below a kind of a small iron chandelier stands a man. Behind that man are a number of glass cabinets where you see vials and cabinets and drawers for other smaller knickknacks and doodads, some might call them for adventurers. The man that you see standing in front of you is a,
00:22:10
Speaker
a tall, broad, kind of large, chested man. He has thick, kind of brown hair, but a dark goatee that leads to a pointed
00:22:25
Speaker
a chin point, a pointed goatee at the bottom of his face. His hands are huge and just almost permanently blackened, almost like a tattoo of ash has been penciled across both his hands. His hands sit kind of fingertips pointing down and his large shoulders kind of hunched up to his ears as he looks down at the table and paperwork below it. What's very interesting, you instantly notice all of you do on your entrance.
00:22:53
Speaker
that only three fingers and two thumbs, so six fingers and two thumbs are leaning on the table. He's missing both his small fingers. I can't speak tonight. He's missing both his pinkies. They are both not there on his hands. As you enter, he looks up and looks directly at you, Emron. Good morning. Well, Matt, it's nice to meet a fellow blacksmith.
00:23:21
Speaker
Are you of the trade as well? Ah, blacksmith of clan shadow shield. Oh, shadow shield. I haven't seen many of yours around these parts. Well, you know, it's, they don't get out from shadow men much, but you know, some of us do travel.
00:23:40
Speaker
Well, well met you too. Are these your companions as well? Ah, we're, as you can probably going to guess, we're in the adventuring business and we're looking to get some gear so we're well equipped to get on with it. I've been less and less of your kind around here recently, ever since the blight finished. But it's how I take your custom any day of the week. We've bought in supplies for years.
00:24:06
Speaker
And well, I was just sitting here to be honest, good thing you've come around. So what is it we're after in particular? Well, I know I'm after a shield of some type and my other companion here and everyone will then point to Nick's. He was after a few other bits and then certainly some potions and the like.
00:24:29
Speaker
I can sort you out with all of that, absolutely. You tell me what you want and I'll figure it out. I'll bring you some bread and some soup while you wait if you want. Wow, it's just like a one-stop shop. That's what we try and do here. Guess out Sword and Shield. So, next, tell him what you want and he'll sort you out, we can look at it. Absolutely. So, I'm after like two daggers, but like, so...
00:24:54
Speaker
elegant daggers, maybe some gold inlay in the hilt, some gems or some jewels, and then a really sharp edge. If you've got such a thing. Awesome daggers. I don't know. Show me your wares. Just anything in the dagger department. And then if you've got some, I just, I need some protection. There's a lot of people out here who want to stab me for some reason. Not entirely sure why. I'm a nice guy.
00:25:23
Speaker
But some sort of light armour of sorts, if you've got that. I'd love to see those ways. Sometimes the best of us want to get stabbed by the worst of us. Don't worry, I can sort you out with that as well. Not with the getting stabbed, but the how to defend yourself if you've been stabbed. I love that line.
00:25:43
Speaker
I just made it up, but I'm, you know, I'm a poignant NPC. What else? If I steal that line, I'm going to write it down. Of course. I have some paper here if you'd like some parchment, and he rips out. Thank you. He's been making notes as you've been talking and hands over a piece of paper, a piece of parchment to you. Only a small corner, though. Paper's expensive. Paper's expensive. So... Reins, out for you. Since we keep finding trouble, I wouldn't mind to shield myself, I suppose.
00:26:11
Speaker
A pair of shields, okay, I might have to sort you out with one. Similar to one of your companions here, the fellow blacksmith. No, it don't need to be fancy, it just needs to stop things hitting me. That's what I do here, look around, nothing's fancy particularly, but it all works, guaranteed, built by these hands. Then he holds up his hands. What about you, sir? The gestures to the large hulking figure of Alpha stood at the back. Alpha's probably going to turn to M-ron and just go...
00:26:39
Speaker
I don't know, what do I need, Father? Well, that depends what you wanted to do, Alpha. I mean, if you want to try and stop being hit by our stuff, then a shield would be good. Personally, you have to know how to use them, because it's really important to know that a lot of folk think shields are just wired behind. Whereas, really, a shield is as much a weapon as a sword or hammer. So you have to learn how to use them both.
00:27:09
Speaker
Then shield, please. Well, there you go. Wow, three shields. People obviously really want to hurt you a lot. We've had a few run-ins already. We seem to attract the wrong type of people. Well, we are adventurers, like the people you described coming in here before the blood. That's just simple adventurers, that's all. But you said something curious, because I'm new to Goldview, as you can tell by the accent.
00:27:37
Speaker
They ain't coming in here anymore, but where are they going exactly?
00:27:41
Speaker
Many people came in here on the precipice of battle when the Blight were knocking on our doors a year ago, actually. And since then, either they're all dead, or they've found their adventuring fill somewhere else. Goldie's returned to its normal ways now. And for some people, the innate fight in the Blight, it's not worth it. I'm sorry, being a silly bit gets attacked by dragons as normal? No, absolutely not.
00:28:10
Speaker
I have to say, as bad as it sounds, and it hurts me to say this sometimes, and morally it's wrong I know, but when bad things happen, my business does do better, and people do take it upon themselves to defend themselves, and people do end up coming to me more when bad things happen.
00:28:28
Speaker
Yes, there are some people who have been looking, some people who have become angry at what's happened, at everyone, at the abcriska, at Helena, the queen, at society in general, or just at the dragon race itself. Yet, still, not the same kind of coverage we had with the Blight. We had all sorts in then, time after time. Ran through some very interesting, very interesting heroic individuals in my day.
00:28:56
Speaker
Well, I guess nothing unites people quite like the end of the world. He laughs and slams his hand on my desk. You're right there. Absolutely.
00:29:07
Speaker
Now, let me get you sorted with some food then, chaps, and then I'll have a quick rummage around in the back. This stuff's just for show. Let me get you the good stuff at the back, and I'll see what I can sort you out, especially with the fellow blacksmith here. He'd know shitty armor and shitty shields who have I brought tonight to him, so don't you worry. The front stuff's for tourists. Let me just get the actual stuff.
00:29:27
Speaker
and he quickly stands, he groans and stands himself up and you realize how this is quite a tall imposing figure and he holds his shoulders low and keeps his head down as well

Negotiating Prices with Milbury

00:29:37
Speaker
trying to lower his imposition and quickly pops off and brings out a couple of bowls of soup and half a piece of kind of rye bread and puts it down on the table kind of in front of you in front of him and goes
00:29:49
Speaker
pleased to help yourself. I'll bring some water too. It'll just be a few moments and he hurries on back and you see him going down into a basement below and you can hear him rummaging around looking for items. As soon as we sit down, Reigns is going to go in the bag of holding and pull out his crossbow and just, Nick, you were talking about defending yourself and I'm ashamed to say it, a pretty terrible shot. Can you make use of this?
00:30:21
Speaker
not really something I've got experience with I've never shot one okay well I'll keep it here then just in case I just thought the appreciate the offer is just I like if you can't use it in the heat of battle I would I've got I've got powers now as Nix looks around the shop as he keeps his voice like I've got I've got I can I can shoot stuff for my
00:30:49
Speaker
hands, I don't need to shoot stuff for my crossbow. Oh fair enough, I'll keep this. But hey, I really appreciate the offer, that was really, and if it was a dagger, like, in a heartbeat, I'd just, we have people on the ship that, like, bow men and shoot the crossbow, it's just, it's not my 40.
00:31:13
Speaker
ship balls again i i i don't use them but i i got a dagger i got one if you want it uh like a nice dagger or the like my similar as next on his sheafs the two of his oh are they the same of these uh it's about the same it's just from the armory
00:31:29
Speaker
This is the old last year and there ain't much to it. I'm okay, I'm okay, I'm liking this though. I feel like there's some connection here, Rains. Tell you what, keep the dagger and then I'm thinking down the line I lose a dagger and you in the heat of battle just shout over to me, Nick's I've got one and you're in the bag of holding and you throw it to me and I catch it and stab the nearest guy in that throat and make it look really cool.
00:31:53
Speaker
I'll do one better because I'm not a good throw. I don't know if you're a good catch, but I will instead go in the bag of holding, give it to NC, who will fly it over to you. That sounds like in that time I would be killed, but I like it. Let's see where that goes. OK, we can work on that. Sure. Everyone's going to be just inspecting some of the stuff that's nearby just to see what kind of quality it is that he's selling. I can help steal that.
00:32:21
Speaker
Everyone's gonna look to Nick's when Nick says that just like Nick's you keep yourself and we don't take out that we don't pay for all the trouble
00:32:33
Speaker
Nick, you seem to be quite jovial about the fact that you're supposed to be following a moral compass. I don't know much about them, Ron, but he don't steal things. Well, I know a lot about them, Ron, actually. Hey, look, do you see me stealing anything? I listen. I listen to my God. I saw him looking, and as a friend, nay, a underling, I offered the fact that I could help him take it if he wanted to. It was more of a, hey, I've got this talent.
00:33:04
Speaker
There you go. As you're looking around, you notice an array of qualities and some of them working up to relative expertise. Most of it has a thin layer of dust upon it. Certain areas have been polished and cleaned, especially areas with the larger steel shields.
00:33:24
Speaker
and the more polished suits of armor have been polished over, but you notice there's just a film above some of the short swords and daggers that he has out on display near the door. And as you're looking around, can I give him a, you know, you're looking, can you give me a perception check, please? Yeah. We'll pop over to Alfred. That's a 22. Oh, wow, okay. You also notice two things that stand out as odd in this shop.
00:33:55
Speaker
Firstly, you notice on the table where you'd normally see a ledger with money amounts and in and out, incoming, outgoing, all that kind of stuff. You see none of that on the desk, but instead what you see are incredibly detailed, charcoal drawings on the paper of this small girl.
00:34:18
Speaker
over and over again like a portrait like from the neck up long dark hair incredibly intense eyes of this this girl probably no older than 12 or 13 probably from the looks of things the same girl different kind of angles of the face the same solemn almost expressionless look on her face in every single one it's almost quite incredible how detailed these these drawings are
00:34:45
Speaker
The other thing you notice that's odd is sat just off to the side and this item seems the most polished and kind of clean, even the tail underneath it has been cleaned as well. It seems pristine as opposed to everything else, sits a small
00:35:03
Speaker
very basic very rudimentary metal almost like a metal stick man made from scraps of iron what the looks of things and it's got like a the heads made of a little blob and then the two arms stick out one's a little bit bent and it's kind of sat on the edge of the of the table that's just off to the side of it and that seems odd as well given that everything else in the store is it's primary
00:35:29
Speaker
purpose is purchased for adventuring, selling, fighting, saving your life, eating, sleeping, making your fight, et cetera. Bear Grylls fucking wet dream. This one thing is the only thing that isn't that, and that strikes you as odd as well, especially with the 22. But the rest of the gear, sorry.
00:35:50
Speaker
Just because the rest of the gear looks of good wear, of a well-worked, seasoned journeyman in his trade, some bordering on experts, some bordering and showing off a level of expertise that you'd be happy to produce as well. Know your best work, maybe, Emron, but work that you wouldn't mind producing and giving to a friend. So yeah, he's a decent, he's a dab hand at his trade. But lots of dust on the gear.
00:36:21
Speaker
But it looks like you mentioned there was dust on stuff. Yeah. Okay, cool. Is there dust on the little metal figure like it's been left there for a while? It's clean. It's very, very clean. It's polished. The light of the sconces that sit around the space shine off that and doesn't shine off much more except maybe the full plate armor that sits in the corner, which has also been looked after.
00:36:49
Speaker
Alpha, and whilst everyone else has just been chatting and having a look around, what have you been up to? What have you been doing, mate? Alpha's been browsing. This is the first time he's been around so many weapons and different kinds, different variations. There's armors, swords, shields, all that kind of stuff. And he just thinks what he can accomplish sometimes with his pistol by just kind of putting a little bit of his own energy into it.
00:37:14
Speaker
So he's walking around, he's kind of touching all the weapons, just slight bit and just trying to put a little bit of his own energy in to see if anything works. That's it. That's all he's doing. So you see that little orange glare just come from his fingertips every now and then as he touches various weapons, but obviously nothing takes to any swords at the moment, but it's just experimenting. Alpha, alpha. You remember what we were saying about how normal people behave?
00:37:42
Speaker
It is not normal behavior. No, most certainly it's not. You're making everything glow. Well, I am the one that is glowing. The glowing is not transferring. Yeah. Well, I'm saying people don't tend to do that. Just peruse, but don't artificial it. Not in here. It's not our stuff. Very well. And I will stop.
00:38:09
Speaker
Are you like his god? Because the same way that Emmeron talks to me, I'm seeing correlations to the same way you talk to Tin Man. His name is Alpha and our relationship is more paternal than Deodis is probably what I would see. It's fascinating. It's definitely fascinating.
00:38:33
Speaker
You hear a big crash from the cellar down below and then the hulking figure of your merchant friend appears and he's carrying quite a few items in a big box and he brings the box up, holds it in one hand and just slowly, very gently pushes everything on the desk across to the side and puts the big box on top, wooden crates on top. Now then,
00:38:58
Speaker
Let's go through this. And he reaches in and pulls out three identical shields. These shields, the stats for this are your basic shields, your normal regular shield. But they look quite ornate. They look quite nice. These aren't the kind of wooden bucklers that you've got out on display at the moment, the one that thwarted you, Emeron, not too long ago in the streets of Goldview. This is a relatively nice, almost teardrop-shaped shield coming down, not to a point, but to a slightly curved end.
00:39:27
Speaker
It fits on both either hand. It's not like a long, long, long shield, but would cover you maybe from neck down to waist. So it's a decent, it's a decent look shield. The shield also looks, it was made from a kind of a polymer, not polymer, an alloy. An alloy? Is that a word? I don't know anything about metal. It's iron and something you can tell anyone. And it gives it a slight
00:39:48
Speaker
It gives it a slight silver look. It's not silver, but it gives it a very lighter color than that. It makes it look more expensive really than it's worth. He explains as he pulls them out. You probably noticed I've infused this with something. It's nothing special, just hardens it up ever so slightly. I just prefer to work with it than just iron itself. Iron's so brittle, I'm sure you know. Ah, yeah. Tell me, Mike, did you say they looked a bit...
00:40:12
Speaker
Um, more extravagant than normal. Yes, ever so slightly. They just, they round at the top and then comes down to a slight, almost tear, upside down teardrop. Imagine that. Do you mind if I, uh, get me, uh, have a look? Oh, of course. Be my guest. And he hands one to M1, hands one to, uh, alpha and also hands one to Nix as well. Nix.
00:40:36
Speaker
Rains. Sorry, next. I thought you wanted one. Oh, sorry. Sorry, I thought you wanted one. He's going to pass it over to, to, to Rains instead. Very sorry. Apologies. There you go. Everyone sort of inspects his, the teardrop shield and sort of flexes it, sort of flicks his finger on it and listens to the ring for a moment and goes, all right. It's a fine piece of, uh,
00:40:58
Speaker
metal at this. Reins and alpha, this might be something suitable for yourselves as you tend to need to deflect things from a distance more. I'm looking for something perhaps more on to round shield shape. I'm looking for something with a boss in the middle.
00:41:16
Speaker
Oh, right. Absolutely. So the idea is obviously I'm looking for a shield boss. So, you know, when I more of a punch grip rather than a strap to me armor style, he starts nodding and nodding his head. Yep. Yeah. I got you. No problem. Yep. Not a worries. I actually got one on the shop floor here and he just rummages and looks and moves the large plate metal armor and behind it is a box. He pulls that out and he kind of flicks through them. Was that vinyls? He flicks through, pulls out one. No, not that one.
00:41:43
Speaker
Ah, here we go. And it's at the back and it's in like a small leather kind of wrap and he undoes it. That's the one.
00:41:52
Speaker
And it brings it over to you and it's pretty much exactly what you've asked for. It's a much smaller rounded shield. There's padding on the back almost for you where your hand and fist would fit behind it to pad it against the metal. It's the same kind of, I can just tell you this in character, it's the same kind of ammo I've used for the other shields there. So your little match, which looks good, but more than anything, it's really light. The alloy means it's lighter. So if you aim to punch with it or parry with it, this is the kind of thing to use. That's my feeling with punch grip.
00:42:20
Speaker
going to be a bit easier to use it in offensive style than these two are might want it strapped to their arms. A bit too defensive for me. Absolutely. You bring it back. I mean, you could do this yourself. I'm sure you bring it back. I could do something with the with the with the front of that to give it a bit of a point. I can't do it right now for Jason fired up, but you gave me a couple of days with it. I could I could maybe sort something out to make it a bit more offensive if you wanted. No, thanks. Very useful. It's an idea anyway, you know,
00:42:49
Speaker
What are we thinking on brass then? Just adding that up at the moment, actually. I've just got a few other things in the box so we can talk money just after that. Right. We had some armour for the gentleman here and he references towards Nix. He pulls out.
00:43:06
Speaker
a piece of leather armor. It's a little stiff. I haven't quite worn it through yet, but it's almost brand new. By almost, I mean, I've just, I put it on to move it around a bit and then tightened it up a bit. That's there for you. There's some leather armor. I've also got, if you're looking for mobility and movement, I've got this, and he pulls out some padded armor. It's much lighter. It won't defend as much, but it gives you a lot more freedom. And the last one is this one. He pulls out a kind of a vest-like studded, oh man, this is straight out of Diablo too.
00:43:36
Speaker
and the vest-like studded armor that just has little metal studs all over it. It sits literally like a vest would. Quite ironic given it's boiling hot at the moment. This will do a better job. It protects the main part of your body. You get hit in the arm, you're screwed, but the studs here, it's the same alloy I've used for the others, and it should really help deflect a little bit more if you get attacked up close and personal.
00:44:01
Speaker
Wow, this is, oh my, oh my, Emron, this is like a gift horse day for me. Emron, what would you say? I like the latter of all of them. I feel like being able to flex my arms is still a good thing.

Finalizing Purchases and Future Trades

00:44:17
Speaker
I've been doing some weights over when I was on the Esmeralda, so I'd like to still be able to flex them. If you were looking for strength, and I'd say the flexible studded leather armour is probably
00:44:29
Speaker
Given your stature, lad, you don't want anything to heavier than that. So I reckon a study letter will probably be best, best for you.
00:44:37
Speaker
Oh, me and you. I think it's the Godmanship, but we are starting to... I feel like you're in here as Nix's. Can be a bit more pricey though, so I hope you've got funds for this. A bit more pricey than your common normal leather arm. I'm sure that... Because of the rivets. I'm sure because you guys have a blacksmith bond, which usually means blacksmith discounts, right?
00:45:03
Speaker
Like I said to the gentleman earlier, what a sniffy turn of price in the moment. Finally, he throws his eyes slightly at Nix's comment there and reaches one more time in and very quickly pulls out and he moves really quickly at this point, pulls out two daggers and bam bam, stabs them both into the desk in front of you. They wobble a little bit.
00:45:25
Speaker
They aren't as ornate or as showy. I don't do showy particularly, but I've got these. And he just takes the very top of the handle and just pulls it and flicks it, and the metal vibrates and moves, and da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. Both of them shake opposite, da-da-da-da-da-da, one another. And what he's just stuck in front of you is the same kind of
00:45:42
Speaker
light silver coloured metal of the blade itself and then a dark oak coloured handle that's been wrapped in leather but in the pommel of it is a very very very very small red gem in both.
00:45:57
Speaker
Like I said, there's no gold or anything here. You did it. You did it. No, no, you did it. This is perfect. Thank you. Thank you. You are a true warrior of the blade. I just think this is amazing. Thank you. Perfect. Perfect.
00:46:13
Speaker
I mean, I'm excited. It's literally my job to make things like this. So, you know, I'm glad I'm one happy customer. I'm not one to complain. Now, was there anything else we were looking for? Health potions, I think. Yeah, potions of healing would be good just in case we get into a tight spot. Absolutely. My supply is a bit low on that at the moment. I've got two.
00:46:34
Speaker
that I've got available really at the moment. I'm expecting a new delivery end very soon, but... Are they stock or are they of standard tap? They're just standard. Yeah, I don't dabble in anything. I don't dabble in anything odd. I just thought I'd check because sometimes you see folks selling stock stuff and it's a bit, you know. Yeah, Chris, we're unhappy with those kind of stock magic goods coming into the town, especially with them outlawing it all. So everything here is above board.
00:47:01
Speaker
Nothing to nothing to bring anyone wayward upon my wares. I like to stay open. I like to stay in business. So these are normal. These have come from the sanguine lands as far as I'm aware. Standard issue worked hard. They've all been tested.
00:47:17
Speaker
I've had no complaints, I'll say that. I don't know a lot about them, I just buy them in. Yeah, I've got two of those. Like I said, I'm expecting another supply, but my man's been missing for... He's just late. He's just late and, you know, probably drunk. He matters under his breath. Anyway, that should be coming in sooner rather than later. So there's two potions there. Did you want both of them or just the one?
00:47:37
Speaker
Well, it'll all come down to price, I think, at the end of it. Yes, I think so too. You reckon I'm quite a little bit here. Right. And he gets a little scrap of paper and he holds the pen awkwardly between his thumb and his forefinger only and starts writing down numbers and doing sums quietly under his breath. Nick's going to just stand on his tiptoes and try to take a peek of the numbers and at the same time, he's going to lower back down.
00:48:02
Speaker
He's writing a lot of numbers down. Well, don't worry, I've done sums in my head as well, so we'll see what we get to, won't we? Alright, and he looks happy at this point. So, I've popped the two shields down that you two have, and he nods towards Reigns and to Alpha, 12 gold a pop. The Buckler, I've knocked after 10. That brings us to 34 for that, for the shields.
00:48:30
Speaker
Now, the pair of daggers... Oh yeah, by the way, Nix, they are just, for all intents and purposes, regular daggers, but they fancy pants daggers. 18 gold or pop. Use your 1d4 of damage. Yeah, but they look good, yep. Okay. 18 gold or pop, 36 for the pair of those. Hold up, a dagger, 18?
00:48:57
Speaker
a dagger. Everyone's going to stay in passive at the moment. And he's going to let Nix duel and like 18 for both or 18 per dagger per dagger 36 for both. I just, I had some sea water in my ear. That's all. That's fine. Uh, instead of leather 45, that standard price we've got across the city anyway, that's, um,
00:49:17
Speaker
Well, I've got for that. And the health potions, there's a set rate that the Chris can let us sell them out. They're 50 gold a pop. So that's 100 for two of those as well. So in total, I think we're looking at 225 for that. Good. So I didn't even get your name, actually. And he looks back to Emron. Emron's the name. Emron. Well met. And yours, friend. Milbury. Milbury Ash Bear.
00:49:42
Speaker
Ash mare. Sorry, I had some seawater in my mouth there. Millbury Ash. It gets about. As a fellow blacksmith, hopefully you can see I'm not pulling the wool over your eyes in terms of the quality of goods. But as a gesture of goodwill, given you're the first time buyers here, I'll take 225. And how about we call it 200? Let me just confer with me
00:50:13
Speaker
Golly, let's see what we got. Take your time. I'm just going to pop out front and set the forge up before you go. Like, do you buy old weapons that I don't use potentially like this scimitar? I have no use for. But it like, do you buy these stuff? Do you melt them down? I don't know. Depends on the wares, but I can certainly have a look at that for you.
00:50:37
Speaker
And he does take a slight interest. And Nix will pass over the scimitar that he took from one of the, I assume the jade blood drops and that was down in the sewers. Yep. That's right. He takes it and balances it on the tip of his finger, on the tip of the tip of his finger and spins the scimitar that balances perfectly on the tip of his finger, takes it back down and looks at the blade of both sides. Not bad. Give me a moment and I'll pop back in and let you know. And he's just going to hold up, hold up, hold up.
00:51:22
Speaker
I do have a spare dagger, should you require it.
00:51:28
Speaker
daggers I'm afraid and he's going to kind of look at the dagger then gingerly just kind of hand it back over politely to you. But the crossbow, the crossbow I don't dabble in the woodwork so that is actually something I am interested in absolutely and the bolts as well. I'm good with my metal but I have to get someone in to carpenter to work on the, it's questionable this looks like it's in good make. Yeah I'll take a look at that as well.
00:51:52
Speaker
Sir, sister hold that same forged. It's a good one. I think I reckon, I mean, from first experience, it's at least 30 gold.
00:52:02
Speaker
But crossbow. He takes a look at the crossbow and kind of nods his head in approval to what you say, Emron. He kind of puts it over his shoulder and goes, still going to start this forge. I'll have a look at him in the light outside and then I'll pop back in in a moment and we'll look at the discounted rate if I can take these two off your hands. Ah, cheers. He nods at you and then heads outside to the forge. Reet, lads, what funds have we got?
00:52:27
Speaker
I ain't got much. Next night. Neither do I, but we could. He's just walked out. Why are we not walking out? That would be adorable. Because we wouldn't have the gear with us if we walked out. Yeah, your armor is still back there. We'd be taking these shields and that's it. It's still better than nothing. No. Really? Yes.
00:52:56
Speaker
Are we talking like, if I go ahead and do it, shoe horseshoe is like... We're talking go ahead and do it and see what happens. Well, no, no, no, not this arbitrary see what happens. That's a grey area. I'm just wondering if this is horseshoe. If you steal out, Nix, then...
00:53:19
Speaker
Your bond with me will be done. Right. Thank you. That took a long time just to say, yes, the horseshoe would be broken. So I don't have a lot of money, guys. I was washed up on this godforsaken land with nothing. Insight check.
00:53:40
Speaker
Yeah, I will assist with that because I remember Nick's doing a lot of offering to pay for our food and being very flush early on. Nick's story is starting to unthread. What do I have to do? I would remember that. I don't know if Alfred would actually twig. Probably deception means he's lying through his fucking pen. I know, but I'm giving him the answer whether or not he is or not because, you know, we don't know for certain. Ooh, only seven. Ooh.
00:54:08
Speaker
I'm rolling in sight as well because this is... Come on, bro. I thought one of you is rolling it. Darren's aiding will roll. That's an 11 on my passive of 15. Yeah, I got a lot of gold on me.
00:54:24
Speaker
You notice a shifty side look, Emron, when Nix says that. And subconsciously, you see his hand move towards his pouch. Do you keep your money in a pouch, in a satchel or something like that?
00:54:40
Speaker
My money is split all over my body, so there's some in my boots, there's some in my pockets, there's some on my sleeve, and there's some in my hat. Like, it's one of those things where, you know, it's from a motorcycle. Like, you don't travel on a motorcycle with just your money on your wallet, you put it in the bike, up the steel bars, and your boots. This is good to me. So if we need to turn you upside down and shake you, that's all right.
00:55:09
Speaker
So I'm thinking he's like Sonic. Like if you hit him, he's going to look to Nick's and then look to. Reins. And I was just going to give a little shake of his head. Nick. Now is the time when we need to pull together for Marauder. So let's put all our cards on table. Yeah.
00:55:39
Speaker
I don't know what else to say. Like, I can't give you anything. Tell you what, then. So we can probably, between us three, we can fund the gear we want. And then if you want out else, you probably need to fund your side of the gear. I think that is extremely fair. At this, uh, uh, Milbury Ashmere walks back in. Um, he's got the scimitar tucked under his arm and he's busy looking at the crossbow as he walks in.
00:56:08
Speaker
I'm trying to quickly look at these both. They're both in really good nick. I'll give you just kind of 45 for the scimitar. And as you said, blacksmitha, Emron, sorry, Emron 30 for the crossbow. So I'll knock 75 off the cost, bringing us down. Let's call it 125. All included. Is that a bit easier?
00:56:35
Speaker
Next. Tell me the split, Emron. Well, 125. Each. Emron does some counting he said. So we're looking at least, we need about 31 each lads, if we were going to go. Ain't got it. Now. No, I can, I can cough up about 25. Okay.
00:57:04
Speaker
I get it. Money sometimes is tight. That's fine. Look, if you need a way of working off some money, I've got to contact the pits if you're the fighting type. I can lend you with interest, but I'll need a holding fee or something to pin you down in case you do a runner. There's a few options there, lads. I'm not going to lie to you. Money is scarce in these parts at the moment. I get that times are tough.
00:57:30
Speaker
But how about we, how about, we'll tell you what that, what's the pit? What's that mean? Fighting pits, next. What 10 speeds when forks fight for entertainment of others? That's a solid idea. There's some money to be made in it. I mean, are we talking, are we talking, are these like, because in Shadow Men they have the arena and organized games and some are to death, some are,
00:58:00
Speaker
Blood games, some are more friendly like, just took first blood. What sort of fights are we talking? There's two really we've got here. We've got the pits, which is just a couple blocks away from behind me, and he gestures over his shoulder. And then we've got the Leopold Dome further up the street. That's the main event. That's where you want to be. That's where the money's at. No one competes there until you've finished at the pits.
00:58:23
Speaker
We have certain types of nights. Now I don't run it. I go down and sometimes clean up the gear, sell my wares, etc. Normally on the weekends, but they

Planning the Next Move: Visiting Elven Ear

00:58:32
Speaker
have certain nights to the death, certain nights to first blood or to disarm and or to those who give up. I'm going to expediate this and just say that
00:58:43
Speaker
For the way I fight, I probably can't justify taking this shield. So I'll return that. Well, they also take groups. There's group combat as well. Five on five, etc. Seven on seven, ten on ten. We're in something of a hurry and don't have long. But it's good to remember for when we do rescue Marota. If we run down to one, two, five,
00:59:13
Speaker
How about we only have one of you reading portions. What would that take us to? We also don't need the daggers as well. As much and nice as they are, I was hoping for a little bit more craftsmanship on the hilt, I guess. It's worth saying, if they're 50 gold a pop because of that crisper in cargo, I don't know if we can justify that.
00:59:42
Speaker
I mean, if we get rid of tip daggers, what if we just go for the two shields, one armor, and the two potions, if we get rid of all the other stuff we were going to have? And in terms of the armor, you have some serviceable armor, everyone. You know, I was being silly before. It's a different style, that's all. Everyone has to change. So we can take the studded armor off as well. Listen.

I know when you guys go down again, you see about nice folk. He scribbles some more on his paper and looks over for a second or two to the other side of his desk, where his other paperwork is. Tell you what, call it 60. Have both healing potions, take the armor, I'll keep the daggers, take all three shields. 60 gold too? I'll keep the scimitar, I keep the crossbow. And I'll tell you what,
01:00:44
Speaker
I'll come back and because I feel like I'm robbing you. I'll give you days labor out pitching if you fancy. No, well, that's very kind of you. That wasn't no, I feel like I owe you that fellow blacksmith. I feel like I'm taking money from your hand as it were. So 60 and also come along and give you days with labor.
01:01:05
Speaker
It's appreciated. The scimitar's good and the crossbow's excellent. I've got a couple of friends who might want to purchase that, so that's a good investment in my part. And actually, I have some questions for you, given that you are a guild member of the Shadow Shield. Actually, your specialism differs slightly from mine and I might be able to learn a thing or two from yourself, so I'll take that one up on your background. I'm sure we could learn from each other. All right, so 60 gold, so 50 in each, lads.
01:01:35
Speaker
Well, that's now much more reasonable. I might just be able to manage that.
01:01:44
Speaker
Absolutely. Alpha's just going to reach into his pocket and pull out what he has. It's not anywhere. It's not 15 gold. You got 10 gold. I thought we gave you the reward. You also got to share the reward, didn't you? Yeah, that was 10 gold, the reward. That is literally all Alpha has, 10 gold. Oh, and 25 silver pieces that he got from a corpse that he looted in the street. Next, if you do 17, I'll do 18 and pull up Alpha's
01:02:11
Speaker
Shortful. Let me just do some maths, everyone. Do I not have enough for this transaction? It's all right. I'll sort it out. Just 17. There you go. And Nix looks pained as he hands it over. Nice in business with you. Yeah. Stacks him up on the desk. Everyone will hand over his share.
01:02:42
Speaker
I'm much obliged. Our brains will hand over his. Thank you. And he counts it all through. 50, 50, down 60. Fantastic. And he's going to drop it down into a chest that he locks down by his feet. And hands over the studded armour to you next. Puts the two daggers back in the box. He lets you keep hold of the two shields and the smaller buckler.
01:03:08
Speaker
Reach his back, opens the glass cabinet behind him and takes out the two potions of healing, which are just regular potions of healing. And hands them both to you, everyone, placing them carefully and reverently on the desk. If you happen to come across any of those that you wished a part with and you come back around these parts, they are in short supply around here in the city in general. So I can do you a good price to buy them off you.
01:03:35
Speaker
Well, we'll bear that in mind. I'm sure in our adventure, we might come across gear we need to offload, so maybe we'll come to some kind of long-term arrangement. That would be beneficial for me as well as for you. We'll do what we can in terms of spreading the word as well, friend. We won't tell people that you did us a favour, but we will.
01:03:55
Speaker
speak highly of your words, if anyone should ask. He puts his right hand over his chest and kind of gives a slight kind of putt, not bow, but nod of the head towards you. Word of mouth, this is the best way of getting information out there. That would be much appreciated, friend. Thank you. Our friend's very good at, and Errol indicates Nick's very good at word of mouth. He's a herald and everything. A herald, fantastic. What for the royal family? Sleep guard. Yes, indeed.
01:04:23
Speaker
Fantastic. You've met the royals then, have you? Yes, I'm traveling with one right here. This is Prince Rainshadow. He looks confused at this. That's not the royal family of Sleekguard. Everyone else knows. I'll pull out the skull of the pedigree. My name is Rainshadow. I'm a member of the royal family of Shatterment. That much is true.
01:04:53
Speaker
He looks at you for a second and kind of looks down awkwardly and looks like they're not wanting to make eye contact with you slightly. It's nice to meet you. Apologies if I'd have known my candor would have been less informed. Oh, you don't apologize. I'm in the far side of the world. My name carries no weight here. You're more good.
01:05:21
Speaker
It's fine. Lovely to meet you. No, go on. No, it's a long and very boring story. Listen, you come back, you sell me, you bring some stuff I can I can I can pass on or I can melt down and you know, we'll have a I'll have a chat over some drinks and I'll I'll tell you a story. A story of a yeah, a long time ago that might interest you. About my family about share them in?
01:05:50
Speaker
No, not particularly. Not you, not your family. Yes, but Shalomend. Interesting. He's a bit flustered by this and he kind of picks up the pictures he's had. Now, you mentioned you didn't have long. You were in a rush. Where are you heading in any directions?
01:06:11
Speaker
Yes, we are heading to Elv's ear. The elven ear. And his eyes go thin for a second. Ah, yes. Do you know where you're going for that? No.
01:06:35
Speaker
Do you? Yes, I'm looking at my map at the moment trying to find out where I put it. Where is it? It turns out I also made the note on it. Where can we get a map like that? Oh, if you... Basically, there's a cartographer who's dead. No. Where could you go for a map? May I have a look at it a moment? Yes, no, I...
01:07:08
Speaker
Sorry, it's a bit dark in here I am. I can sort that out. I can just have a quick glance if he laid it out over the table. I can't.
01:07:18
Speaker
No. If ever there was something that Mark has to watch out for, it's Callum trying to play that. It's Callum asking anything. Yeah, and Callum asking for anything. Callum speaks. Just a big no. You nick on camera for a mind. The only places I might recommend, Three Bookstore or Threadbears Discount Store might be useful. He normally holds things like that, but he's a bit of an asshole, but you know, you could wrangle him out with a bit of cash.
01:07:46
Speaker
Uh, where is that? Where is Threadbears? Threadbears? Threadbears? With the elven ear, though. Oh, elven ear. Might be in the north. I don't know. I've heard, I've heard tell. Yes. Um, you want to go. Any points at the store? Union pass, head to the middle of town, north, then take Ashcroft Road, which is up into the west, out of the city. There's a series of buildings on the left. It's just out there. You won't miss it. Well, fine.
01:08:16
Speaker
It's a bit of a walk though, but you should find it easily enough. If not, ask anyone. Everyone knows where it is. If not, ask about Threadbears discount store. It's literally next door. If it's not in Threadbears, it'll be in the elven ear. Cheers. Not a problem. And he picks the large crate and moves it off the table and she kind of looks back to you. Now, anything else I can help you with?
01:08:44
Speaker
I think we're all done here. But it's been lovely to meet you all anyway. Like I said, lovely to see you again. You come back with some gear and we'll share a drink. I've got some stories to tell. Let me show you how to. All right. Cheers, Master Milbury. Thank you to Master Amron. Lovely to meet the other three of you and nods towards, nods towards your Highness. You should bow. You don't have to do that. You should bow really.
01:09:12
Speaker
Everyone's going to be like, anyone's going to sort of push next towards the door. All right, all right, I'm going. And he lifts a large pinky-less hand up, so kind of wave goodbye as you exit back out into the bright sunlight of Goldview. Ah, he was a nice man.
01:09:34
Speaker
get a wiggle on Nyx, it was sort of your idea, yours and Raines' idea to go with it. What's your plan, lads? Because, you know. Yeah, of course. Well, more to the credit of Raines, it was his idea because he shed up that weird scope thing and said that if we need to know more about the underbelly of the city and the the people that the Nether do wells, then go into a place that seems deals with crime and dark.
01:10:07
Speaker
This seemed like a good place to go, judging by the advert he left in the pub. My thought is that this man clearly moves things in dark circles. We might be able to extract information from him about
01:10:24
Speaker
routes down to Drelak that perhaps go off the beaten track, as it were. These people, when they attacked us, I've been thinking about it, that they weren't working for any law and order. They appeared to be some form of mercenaries. They're a gang. Traveling down the main road between here and
01:10:45
Speaker
and another kingdom is gonna be impossible without extracting questions, so we need to find out. No, that's what I did. Shit, I didn't even ask. And Nix will just open the door quickly to the blacksmiths. Yo! Jade blood drops. Mean anything to you? People smugglers. How do I find them? Damned if I know. Okay, cool. Thank you very much. Enjoy. Your hands. Bye. My hands. Well, that was so...
01:11:15
Speaker
Everyone will look to Raines and be like, okay, that's a fine plan. My one concern is, I hope we don't have to do out. Well, I mean, all we gotta do is extract information from not particularly dangerous information. We just have to give him the impression that we're willing to help him, but we've got some stuff that we need to smuggle up from Drowdak first. We just gotta lie.
01:11:42
Speaker
If we're looking for someone to lie, then I think, and everyone looks next. We've got our man. Nix will just say nothing, but give you a big toothy grin. And on that toothy grin, as your teeth shine in the morning, Goldie Sunlight, that's what we're going to finish for this shopping-based episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop.
01:12:05
Speaker
Yeah, I think that was our first ever shopping based episode. Yeah, it was. Well, he made a friend. Working out the prices of things in D&D. We managed to get that price right now. We just fleeced it. That's why everyone went. He went from highballing us on the shields to giving us the discount on the lifetime. To be honest, he charged two gold extra.
01:12:26
Speaker
from the standard price of a shield. I mean, it's the daggers that were extortionate because they're like too old to pop. Well, Nix did ask for them to be dueling crusted. Yeah, he did. Exactly. That's why they're expensive. I did. Because Nix is, he likes the bling. Ian, do you know how to add that to your inventory?
01:12:45
Speaker
to add what to my inventory. I studied leather armour, so it works on D&D Beyond. Yes, absolutely. So you navigate to D&D Beyond, I'm not going to tell everyone, but you go to Manage Inventory and instead of telling us how to do that on D&D Beyond, how might people get in contact with us if they wanted to follow the podcast? That, that, that is why, that's a great segue. I just had to set it up, that's it.
01:13:07
