changing. I am Boop and joined by my fellow positive brigade members, Miller and Chris. Boys, how are we doing today?
00:01:12
Speaker
This is not the positive posse. I just want to see if you can still do the ah the voice. For the entire episode? I think it would be fun. No. I might need a break already. What's up? I forgot to do this last episode. ha Although we haven't posted any of it yet, but I just think it's funny that it just shows up.
00:01:33
Speaker
Awesome. Let's talk about things that no one's going to see. We're good. We're good. I already had two fantasy drafts in the books. Feeling good about my squads. Got A's in both of them. Projected to be number one in both of them. So, you know, hey just living that champion life. All my boys are getting A's and B's. This is good to hear.
00:01:57
Speaker
Social Pluck, you can find us on Facebook, on the Trio Positivity Podcast. At Twitter X, we're at Trio Positivity. YouTube channel is Trio Positivity Podcast. The website is up and running as well. Chicago Bears Preseason Performance
00:02:17
Speaker
But before we get there, we will recap the last first preseason game. Not much to talk about there. We'll talk about Hard Knocks.
00:02:24
Speaker
a real emotional, heavy episode there. ah And like I said, all of us here today today will do a mock draft, a quick 10-teamer draft to give you an idea of how an actual draft would go. We'll share more in a minute. But before we get started, let's talk about the 4-0 Chicago Bears. They're going down in history. The 2024 Forno pre-season bears are going down in history according to some players on the bear side. That was such a great line. and And he himself cracked himself up. That line made me laugh more than it should have, but I love that they kept it. Hey, that's the reason he's still in the practice spot, I think. I love the fact that they actually showed him laughing after, so it wasn't taken out of context.
00:03:16
Speaker
Um, okay. Uh, the bears beat the chiefs at arrowhead, which was awesome. We won 34 to 21. Again, it's, it doesn't matter, but the score seemed closer at the end than I was for the most of the game in my head, at least. I don't know if you guys felt that way, but next up bears kick off our 2024 NFL season at home against the Titan Sunday nine, eight at noon. Wasn't me is some neuter games.
00:03:46
Speaker
Sunday, it's going to be glorious. We have a Thursday game. We have a Friday game next week. It's going to be awesome. It's going to be awesome. Talking about awesome.
Critique of Hard Knocks Episode
00:03:57
Speaker
Hardox has a fourth episode. I won't say the last episode. i There may be one more this week, right? I believe there is one more. Yep. ah They had the fourth episode.
00:04:07
Speaker
They are the true storytellers. This is what I like about them. They'll they'll find storylines within the people they film and just like play with your heart and emotions. It it was a very emotionally heavy episode. ah To tell you more, throwing it over to Chris. Chris, what did you think about the episode? I don't think this episode was the strongest of last week. I would say it was a good episode.
00:04:35
Speaker
but I still feel like we're missing a lot of the background, which we got to we got little bits and pieces. The one that annoyed me the most is they cut away when polls was asking, so what are we doing for the running back spots? That's usually where hard knocks will kind of go in and let the coaches talk about who they're going to cut, who they're not going to cut, who they want to like invest their time in. The motherfuckers cut away from it. And I'm like, why? That's not even a fucking cliffhanger, because I'm going to know exactly who they cut by the time the next episode comes out. This is bullshit. But think of it, that but you're you're right.
00:05:11
Speaker
But what if maybe in the line of talking with polls, he says Ian Wheeler, and maybe they were going to keep him over Vayless. It would have made for great television. Yeah, it would have made for awful um GMing and coaching.
00:05:28
Speaker
But like we talked about, you know, he was loose and polls already got a question about why they kept valus and he's on the team. So that would have been awful. So, I mean, it could have been something like that. I just, I don't know, man, I'm not. I hear you guys. I've never really watched our next, but like, I'm just sitting here like.
Bears Roster Speculation
00:05:50
Speaker
this is like a waste of my time there's a lot here if if your heart didn't skip a beat when he hugged his mom and the mom said you did your best or you know i mean yeah there's i mean there's yeah human element there's definitely human elements I mean that's why they show the parents they show all of these things like they even showed Tyson's dad going to the arm wrestling thing like it which is nice to see but I really felt like this was more of a filler episode it's like one of those where if you're watching a TV sitcom and it's like well let's just show you what happened in the previous season kind of deal or in the previous episode and then it it just was an episode to just throw it out there
00:06:32
Speaker
they with some Go ahead. Do they always focus on like the background people? Like we're not guessing anything. So I think they like they need storylines, right? So I think they film a lot of people and they follow on the people that give them the best storyline. Like i if this ACL thing had not happened, I don't think Ian Weaver would be featured as much. But like they had a thing to show with him. No, he was featured in like the second episode.
00:07:00
Speaker
I see what he's saying. It wouldn't be featured during a cut episode, probably. Yeah, like it would be people on the cusp, like good storylines, like someone you they know, they can like either make it a happy ending or a sad ending, you know? So this let me jump in there, Bupin, and I think this will clear it up. It's um training camp preseason.
00:07:22
Speaker
I think youre you don't you normally get background people. During the season, you get the stars, you get everyone during the ah app the regular season episodes. The off season, you get more of a background.
00:07:35
Speaker
No, I think like the stars usually like we haven't seen sweat say anything, right? Like I think the stars, there's probably more restrictions around where you can't show, cannot show. That's what they have their own series, right? Quarterbacks has their own series, receivers, some of them have their own series. So there are more stuff going on, unless it's like some storylines that they are following, like maybe contract negotiations or something like that.
00:07:57
Speaker
it don't get featured as heavily i think this is a different scenario though booping because in previous hard knocks in the offseason and no i take that back in preseason you would always get that feedback from the stars for example the new york jets when they were on hard knocks rogers all in rogers Well, he had just become moved to the team, right? But that's why I'm saying they do the focus on that aspect. I don't know if the owners of the Bears are like, listen, we don't want to just single out Caleb. We don't want to single out our rookies. We want to make it a team. It is still a lot of Caleb, but it's just like also like... It's not the Caleb we are looking to see, I think, in my opinion. Okay, Chris. Oh, sorry, Miller, would you want to see that you haven't seen as much?
00:08:42
Speaker
I just wanted to see more conversations with like the stars and more like I that's why I like the second episode so much because you got to dive into like Kenan Allen and DJ more. Yep. Whereas now like we're just focused on fucking ah there were some moments but like
00:09:00
Speaker
I don't know I mean the Ian Wheeler thing that was that was cool I just I'm not impressed but I've I haven't been impressed since the beginning so let me let me ask you this question and then you guys can correct me if I'm wrong um didn't Montes what get thrown out of practice for hitting Caleb wasn't that a thing I don't think so I think they showed some of the fight in this one. but i think it was I thought there was a fight. and i thought there was some I'm going to look it up while you guys talk, but I thought there was a scenario that that that's what happened and Flus talked about it, but they didn't show it in hard knocks.
00:09:35
Speaker
and mean running like but I think Bears have a lot of editing rights, guys, like we talked about. i I think if you're right, Chris, that they cut away at that conversation. He must have said something that's like either incriminating or illuminating for the next week's episode. So they were just cutting it there, too. um that That could easily be going on.
Emotional Aspects of Hard Knocks
00:09:56
Speaker
But to your guys' this credit, to begin with, like I do kind of wish there was more like in the coaching room and of talking about things that I have to actually care about rather than focusing on Ian Wheeler and the running backs coach and stuff like that. You hate Ian Wheeler. We got it. Okay. Got it. I don't hate Ian Wheeler, but it's just like, ah you I'd like to hear something about Khalil Herbert since I thought he was going to be caught. What is his role on this fucking team? I don't fucking know.
00:10:26
Speaker
Adrian Colbert was just like out of nowhere. we I didn't even know who that guy existed until this episode. And this episode was all about him somehow, which is like, again, like, you know, something's going to happen either this episode or next episode if you if they feature him kind of a thing, you know, that goes back to your comment, because that was this fucking storyline. The kid was in a fucking coma for a week ra when he was nine. Oh, directly. into this So it was reported July 29th that Montesuet was pulled from drill after second practice incident where he made contact with Caleb Williams. Contact. But he was pulled and he was told not to come back for practice.
00:11:07
Speaker
So like I mean it was cool like obviously Ian Wheeler he didn't get caught he's still with the team Which I thought was interesting even though he has a torn ACL Actually, like that might have helped V-less in my opinion I think it did a hundred percent because I think this move alone the fact that he's on the IR with the Bears I think that tells you that they didn't want to get rid of him So I think V-less might have been on his way out. He has reward three speeds. He runs a four three forty That's crazy. He doesn't look that fast too. Yes, but he doesn't catch. So let's move on. ah We addressed some of the cuts. ah Austin Reed was cut, but he was brought back to the practice squad. So we are running with ah two rookies in a second year quarterback. Yeah. How do we feel about that? Very weird.
00:11:59
Speaker
but But that goes to our point. Tyson Bajan has looked really good, right? He's I think he's like up there. Top five backups in the league at this point.
Bears Backup Quarterback Discussion
00:12:08
Speaker
Oh, no, no, no. Calm down. Calm down. OK. Name name five better backups backups. Yeah. Name five backups, period.
00:12:17
Speaker
Maybe Brissett? I really thought when you said, when you said, hold up, I thought you were going to rip me a new one for all the props that you gave him last year and for me turning him down. Are we, are we now going to say that fields is not top five?
00:12:31
Speaker
given that he just received backup status? He can be the top five. He can be top five, okay. So that's two. I would, you know what, I think it might be right. No, if you're gonna look at those guys, I guess you can say top, yeah he might not be top five. He might be the most experienced backup for a second here, how about that? Let's put it this way, can we talk, let me put it this way. He is a top five most wanted backup quarterback. I agree with that 100%.
00:12:57
Speaker
Because I would much rather have Tyson Bajant than like, uh, a, a, a Verrett or some of these guys that have just been journeymen for their, their whole lives. true So, I mean, he's looked really good in the games and everything. And it's, it's kind of crazy to see the transformation and it it gets me excited because it's like, hopefully he becomes a Jimmy Garoppolo situation and you have a bid war and you can get a good pick for him.
00:13:25
Speaker
Or not only that, but you also solidify the quarterback room. You got cut. Like I know, but like six year guy, Los Angeles guy. I guess that was like so shocking that they kept Reed
Practice Incidents & Hard Knocks Control
00:13:39
Speaker
over him. Obviously they see more than what we saw obviously but that was interesting. I think Reed seemed to be a better locker room guy in in what they showed us. He was like cheering from the side on and coming up with celebration. That might have just like been the deciding factor. They may have just saw something with Reed and it's like you kind of know who Brett Ripon is at this point. Ripon, Ripon, whatever his name is. So it's like you know that he's not gonna
00:14:07
Speaker
He's not going to be like a potential starter in the league where you don't know who Austin Reed is at this point. There's still a shot, right? So I think it's weird because you would think you would want somebody that has a little more experience in that room from a player perspective, but I guess that's what the quarterback coach is for.
00:14:27
Speaker
Um, he's kind of sweet kid too. Like before the last, I think Neil Donahue goes up to, uh, San Waldron is like, Hey, regardless of what happens. Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I was like, come on kid. Who'd take a knee? Was it weird? Was it weird to you guys that Caleb wasn't in Sears tower fucking or Willis Tower fucking image. No, it's Sears Tower. I don't care what they say. um I don't think it was weird, although I do have to give a massive shout out to Hard Knocks for pulling the first Bueller reference. That was a great spot. Sloan was a crush that I had. It was perfect. I don't know. I just thought it was a little weird because it felt like it was a quarterback bonding moment and he wasn't even there.
00:15:13
Speaker
I think it's like the whole superstar thing. I think Hardinox would love to have Caleb there, but Caleb has his own schedule and time and funny, you know, going somewhere in the city and meeting people and stuff like that. So I think that's what happened. You're probably right. That's why a lot of superstars like, unless there's something really happening with them, they're not featured as often. Rogers was a different story. Agreed.
00:15:39
Speaker
I didn't see any really shockers as far as cuts other than kind of what we talked about. um I'm still not on board with Bayless Jones being on this team, but you know what? If there's one draft pick that polls wants to hold on to, I guess, gotta give it to him.
00:15:54
Speaker
Yeah. Um, I did see something about like, there's only five players left from before, uh, polls era and on the team is basically clean house, which is like. Probably it's it what he's been here a couple of years. So that's probably not that shocking, but it's like interesting to see like where we were. There was a list of players from Brian post two years ago and where we were today. And it was like, it was like good to see beautiful to see just how far the team has come is pretty amazing. Okay. I may butcher this, but it was something along these lines.
00:16:25
Speaker
I think polls has kept 100% of his draft picks are currently on the team in the fifth round or higher or something like this compared to like, which is really good.
00:16:41
Speaker
I think that's the, I heard it this morning on the radio cause you know, Oh, I love the radio. Um, and it was something like that. Like he's kept a significant amount of players on his team.
Bears Draft Pick Significance
00:16:54
Speaker
Um, compare him to like the Minnesota guy who basically has kept zero and, um, or very few. So it's just like, it's good to see you hope that we can see some.
00:17:08
Speaker
some of that on the field in as far as depth goes. And we'll see what happens. Hopefully this team can move forward and make a little splashy splash. Yeah, yeah. Let's talk about Miller's favorite player, Bill Jones. He's running back on the Bears. Sorry. I already talked about it. I said I didn't want him on the team. ah Chris, go ahead. The one thing I just want to shout out that was really, I don't know if I noticed it as much on the previous episodes, but I noticed it now is Chad Morton's assistant, Jennifer King, who was the first female coach for bears history.
00:17:51
Speaker
They had the good cop, bad cop going, um which was great to see. The one thing that I love, though, is that she knows her shit. Yeah. There was an example where she was like, hey, you're going to get hit either way. Is it better for you to get hit up top or bottom? Bottom. Like, I'm like, oh, my God. Yeah, this chick knows what she's doing. Get her pad, something. Because she knows what she's talking about. So shout out to the Bears for all of that.
00:18:16
Speaker
She was a quarterback for like 16 years. Um, then, um, she has a master's degree in sports communication or
Bears Coaching Staff Highlights
00:18:24
Speaker
something. So like her resume is pretty impressive. She was with Ron Rivera in ah Carolina and Washington before, yep, before coming to the Bay. So no, ah great. but impact That was cool. I mean, it was a little fucking, we talked about how it was an emotional episode. The other emotional part was when The running back coach and her were like, um they're just defeated once Ian Wheeler was out. During the game. During the game. Yeah. And they're just like, I'm done. I just don't feel it. There's no motivation anymore. It's kind of crazy.
00:18:53
Speaker
Yeah. And then the rest of the people like Austin Culver just made a plan. He was like, I told you guys as he's walking off the field and then everyone's just sad. but The best part was he was like, Hey, little pup can go, little pup can go. Like so you can, I, that's the one thing I genuinely enjoyed was the running back coach, the coaches, I should say, and how they work to get, uh, everyone prepped for that. So I, I think because of that, the episode kind of gave it a different, uh,
00:19:23
Speaker
A different feel. Um, and it made it about the content too. I want to say it's like on the field think of what's happening, right? They're prepping for cheese Like Caleb was practicing his frickin What was it like kneel down or like like spike spike? That's what itpi he was practicing. So like but there's no real like actual plays not many Happening as a normal week. That's probably why we felt like a lack of content do Also, um did you guys know that if you took a step back that's intentional grounding. Did you guys know that rule?
00:19:55
Speaker
I did not. I was questioning if it was a new role. I was questioning it too, but then I saw the replay that they were showing on a thing and I'm like, Oh my God. Yeah. If you try to down the ball with 30 seconds left. It is a little different. Yeah. Like, I guess I've never really thought about it. That Minnesota one was pretty bad because he like took like But like don't bother them, like take the ball and then like waste a little time and then kneel. That's that's kneeling though. It's not spiking. So we learned something new. So with that, guys, let's go ahead and give our positivity rating. Let's start with booping booping. What do you think? Oh, you guys, you guys brought me down to earth. I was probably going to give it a 10. Otherwise I'm going to give it an eight and a half. Eight and a half. All right. Miller seven.
00:20:41
Speaker
I can't believe this. Miller and I are on the same boat. That's a seven for me as well. You guys don't have hearts. No, it's not about having hearts. It's just I wish there was more. And given how big of a season this is going to be for the Bears, even though a lot of people don't have them finishing high, like it's a first year with a brand new quarterback and the defense looks great. The defense continues to look good.
00:21:05
Speaker
like yeah that's that's one thing that i can genuinely say i'm excited and before i do anything uh because i had this prepped for you guys because you guys always want to question if i'm actually a bears fan or not you prepped something that's i prepped something you got something
Miller's Bears Loyalty Anecdotes
00:21:22
Speaker
let give me give me the room please give me the room please Sometimes people question my bear fandom, and if I'm really a bear fan, well, do you guys have a PNC card with the Bears logo on it? No, you don't. I do. I'm the true bear fan now. now the is amazing everybody am I am the main bear fan. So you guys cannot say that I am a Bills or Steelers fan. I am a bear fan first. You need to do the claw.
00:21:52
Speaker
Only then I'll believe it. For the record, all of our listeners out there... That wasn't a physical card. That was a... It's coming. The physical card is coming. The physical card is coming and it shows the phone number. I'm not gonna do that. I know. It's fake. It's an image on the internet. I'm not gonna put the phone number. No, wait. Listen, hold on. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen wallet still says wallet still could be faked still could be faked okay moving on let's get into this mock draft yeah i have one guys i have one too no but see that's a google picture that's a google picture don't do that to me i'm not going to show the full card number and the card hasn't even got here yet i just opened the account so fuck you guys
Mock Fantasy Football Draft Introduction
00:22:41
Speaker
Let's have some fantasy fun, shall we? So we thought we'd give you guys a little inside peek into the glorious brains that one out of the three of us have as far as fantasy football is concerned. Okay. Understand that I can only play this championship card this for this moment. So I'm going to play it to its fullest. Let's fucking go. All right. So we're going to be doing a quick mock draft.
00:23:01
Speaker
these are great to do for your before you actually get involved in the draft for a few reasons. but I mainly like to do it is to kind of have an understanding of the player rankings. You also if you do have the opportunity to know what spot you're doing in a draft It's a great way to kind of have a good understanding of what players will be available Uh at your pick keep in mind. You don't have to do the whole fucking mock draft. Just do the first Four rounds maybe five six rounds after that it really becomes a crap shoot on who's going to be there down the line So it's more important to focus on the rankings and the potential tiers that you may have of the players So we're going to start off here the the
00:23:43
Speaker
mock that we're going to do today is going to be a half PPR. It is a snake draft. I do want to give a shout out. One of our leagues that we do have is an auction draft salary cap league. It's awesome. Um, it really allows you to get any player out there on the landscape. It isn't held to this snake format pick by pick. You get to bid on players and if you bid the highest and you get the player, it's a really cool way to draft. It is a lot more complicated.
00:24:10
Speaker
But with that being said, it is a fun way to do it. So it's going to be half PPR, regular snake, 10 team. Boopin's going to be picking at the three spot. I'll be picking at the ninth spot. And at the end, let us know who you think has the better team. Yeah, we'll throw the teams on socials and see who won.
00:24:27
Speaker
If you're the true champion, Miller. So with that, and you guys are wondering, why is Chris not doing one? Well, because I don't research and I don't care too much about fantasy, so I'll let the pros handle it. So we're going to go ahead and start this draft.
First-Round Draft Strategies
00:24:40
Speaker
And with the first pick,
00:24:46
Speaker
McCaffrey goes first, followed by Hill, which now leaves Boopin on the clock. So Boopin, you have the three pick. yeah What are you thinking? No, like probably this was my first pick anyway. CD or Jamar Chase, especially in the PPR. I'm not looking Justin Jefferson, mostly because of a downgrade in quarterback. I haven't done this much this season, mostly because CD's contract situation is up in the air. I'm going to take CD third overall. Does Jamar Chase's situation concern you at all?
00:25:20
Speaker
You know he's gonna get paid. It's just I think he just wants more money than CD at this point I'm pretty sure he was practicing for a couple of days, but the fact that he stopped practicing I think now he wants more money than what they agreed that he would get paid I just think it's uh, I don't know. It's scary as a Jamar chase holder um ah I know he'll get paid even if he's out the first few weeks. He's still at least he's healthy um But and he already has a connection here. He knows the playbook so I'm not too concerned there, but I Yeah, so after Boopin took CD lamb, same Browns off the board, Chase is off the board, Jefferson went and Gibbs and then Robinson.
00:26:00
Speaker
um so can pretty with all epirs is Yeah, you saw my points my thing, but that's fine. But of the first eight picks, only three running backs have gone. ah Miller is now at the ninth spot. Miller, what are you saying? I would say yeah of the first eight picks, Gibbs is probably the the one player that I wasn't expecting to go in front of me. The consensus top five out there is kind of CMC Tyree kill.
00:26:27
Speaker
CD lamb, um, be John Robinson and breeze hall. So me sitting here at the ninth pick and having breeze hall on the board, it's really a slam dunk for me. Uh, I don't have to think much. And breeze hall had a killer season last year. He did a lot in the receiving game and you know, that's going to come down since they're actually going to have a competent quarterback. But the fact is breeze hall, I think he only had one rushing touchdown.
00:26:53
Speaker
So I expect that number to compensate for the fact that he may be losing out on some receiving yards. So for me, ninth pick, I'm going Breeze Hall. I think he's top five this year, so it's definitely a value. for Yeah, because we have three minutes on a time or so with that um and you went ahead and picked. So thank you for that. um With that, we have the next pick being Brown from Philadelphia. The first round is over. We obviously rotate ah any surprises as of right now from the first 10.
00:27:22
Speaker
Oh, follows. the I think the Gibbs is kind of going number seven. I thought that was a pretty big reach there. I would have expected him to go more in the early second round rather than in the first, but hey, to each their own at this point.
00:27:38
Speaker
So the bottom line is when you're talking about the first round, you're really trying to, you're, you're drafting players that have the potential to be number one overall at your position. There's really no quote unquote misses at this point. It's all just projections and you're projecting that they have a better chance of possibly finishing number one overall. But really any of the guys that are drafted in the first round have that potential to lead the league.
00:28:04
Speaker
um At their position, so you're just hoping no injuries at this point because they should be your star player So with that Miller picked a running back first and booping went wide receiver So we're gonna see if their draft we're gonna see their draft strategy now with the second pixel Miller The floor is yours Taylor goes first in the second round from Indiana. What do you got?
Second-Round Draft Analysis
00:28:24
Speaker
So this is kind of when it comes into the importance of knowing who is going to be in your third and fourth round prospects of players. So right now I have a running back, so I'm good there. I have a top running back in my opinion, and I really have the pick of the litter of where I want. I could go Saquon from the Eagles. It's a solid pick. I could go Garrett Wilson of the Jets for the wide receiver. If I wanted to go that direction, I'm not really yet.
00:28:54
Speaker
um'm not really sold on the whole marvin harrison he's a rookie i think it's a little high for a rookie puk and naku is also there I'm not sold on him because of the cooper cup thing going on and and in l la so i'm really between se ju and garrett so wide receiver running back so this is when i'll take ah quick peek in the third and fourth round to see who, what type of players I'm looking at here. And the guys I'm looking at is like a Mike Evans. There's some quarterbacks. I probably won't take a quarterback early. I'm not a quarterback early guy. I got Nico Collins in that. I got Jalen Waddle and Stefan Diggs. So it seems pretty heavy as far as running backs or or wide receivers are concerned at that point.
00:29:36
Speaker
So I might make the decision to go Saquon knowing that I can get a pretty decent wide receiver on the turn. ah What are your thoughts on like a strategy like that, Poopin?
00:29:48
Speaker
Yeah. Wide receiver, especially wide receiver too, is easier to find on the backend and with an upside too, like some of the players that Miller mentioned. So not a bad strategy. um It's kind of risky, i honestly, to running backs, but we only have to start two wide receivers. So because you're getting such a good value on Breeze, I think that kind of compensates.
00:30:10
Speaker
I'm glad you mentioned that because then my question to Miller, which I think some of the draft um software that's out there, ah especially the draft simulator, it gives you the average draft pick to know what's going to possibly be available in that third round. So that's so also a research that you're doing during the draft, correct?
00:30:29
Speaker
Yes, I'm looking at the ADP. I think that's really the winner. I kind of focus because of the player rankings. It really varies across all of the sites. So the ADP, while not really accurate as far as skill level, it kind of gives you an idea of who, what is the public viewing and realistically, not everyone's going to be fuck faces like Chris over here and take Trubisky with the first overall pick.
00:30:52
Speaker
So it should give you a fair balance of where the projection is going. So I'm going to take Barkley here. It might it might hurt me on the on the way back, but I hope that some wide receivers fall on me down there.
00:31:05
Speaker
All right. And with that Miller locks in his pick with Barkley. We're going to see who Boopin is going to get tied up with.
Third-Round Draft Choices
00:31:12
Speaker
The next picks after Barkley is Wilson, Hendry. Uh, cool. naku I think I couldn't see the name for whatever reason. Harrison actually ended up going. And then they're running back from Jacksonville. Travis Etienne. Thank you very much. Boopin interesting spot that you're in and we're already in the second round. What do you think?
00:31:31
Speaker
Yeah, so probably looking at a running backs here, there's a good chunk of running backs right there, especially because I have wide receiver one probably already sorted out. Looking at Kyren, love Kyren was like his value this year, especially the way Rams use running backs. They go with one guy.
00:31:51
Speaker
Um, usually, um, who the guy, do you, do you love Kyra and the punt returner though? That's why I was going to say the news just came out that they're going to use him for puns. I don't know if I like the idea of him being, he's already injury prone. Like if he gets hurt in one of those puns, which is probably where all the fricking injuries happen, it's going to be tough. So because of that, and I want this player on my team, I'm looking for the down a little down to Devon a chain.
00:32:18
Speaker
man, think of a exciting player that you can have on your team. He's, you know, he can't catch the some passes, probably more than the most shirt guy does. So the PPR aspect is still there. The other option, the wide receivers right there don't appeal to me that much. But I'm going to go with Devon H and right now, as my second round pick.
00:32:40
Speaker
See a Chan, I don't know everybody's so high on him. um And I just I get scared off for guys like that he's like a boom or bust guy and luckily for him he's in Miami. It's a very boom offense and like he's shown his explosiveness all last year.
00:32:58
Speaker
but it's just kind of, it's, it just, it worries me going with someone like him because he's not that goal line guy. Like you have Rahim Mostert, who was the one that got all the short yardage touchdowns last year. I think he had like 18 touchdowns. So taking a Chan there it is a highly touted pick everybody's very high on him it just makes me worried when you have Mostert in the background that could definitely leech quite a few touchdowns ah close to the goal Ryan
00:33:28
Speaker
Yeah, 100% agreed. So with that, we move on to finish the second round. Olave from New Orleans. Olave. Olave, sorry. Williams from the LA Rams finishes the second round. The third round actually starts with Mr. Jacobs from Green Bay. And then we go London from Atlanta boobins back on the clock. OK. So I know Sleeper is very how it highly touted. Team 1 and Team 2 have three running backs and three wide receivers.
00:33:58
Speaker
What the heck? I didn't even that didn't even see that. What the heck's going on, sleeper? Just mix them up. We'll be happy. Just mix them up. but One thing to point out, just Josh Jacobs. ah That's a very interesting player, in my opinion. I don't know if I'm going to get any of him based on my current draft position. I know. But he's a guy that not very many people, including myself, were very high on because of the AJ Dillon factor, but he is now out for the season. So I don't know who else is going to get the ball on that team. So he could be a real bell cow for that team. And you, we've seen him be that bell cow for the
00:34:40
Speaker
the Raiders in the past, and I think he actually has some upside. I could see him climbing up a little bit in some of these drafts um because of that factor. Just to profile him, was he also a running, catching, a catching, catch and run back, or was he mostly just a run? I think he was more running. He was more run focused when he was with the Raiders. I think he was, I think he led the league in rushing that year, if I remember correctly. He can cash too, but that's that not the primary thing he does for sure. Ignoring the fact that our first two teams are idiots. um No, the other teams too. It's interest weird. Hopefully it cleans up. It cleans up, but again, they mostly go off of the average draft. But Miller's on the clock. What are you thinking, Miller?
00:35:25
Speaker
I'm not on the clock. Boopin's on the clock. I'm so sorry. Boopin is on the clock. I apologize. Yep. So it snakes back to me. I'm looking at the, this is really good options here. Devontae, you know, with Minchu as a quarterback, I don't think it's a bad option. PPR, especially. Brandon Ayuk, all that contract controversy aside, he's a solid pickup. Debo is right there too. But I think I like this running back a little bit more.
Fourth-Round Draft Deliberations
00:35:50
Speaker
Um, he doesn't help me as much in PPR, I don't think, but man, he runs angry and I want him on my team. I'm going to take Pacheco with my next pick right here. Um, like Miller said, looking back, I feel like the next turnaround gives me some flexibility with both wide receiver and running back on that round. So I'm going to take him right here.
00:36:10
Speaker
Isaiah Pacheco from Kansas City. That's a really good pick. Kansas City. We get Miller's seal of approval. And with that, we get the first tight end to get drafted, and it's not Kelsey. Laporta gets taken. And then the first QB gets taken off the board with Mr. Allen, followed by Kelsey. And then we have Samuel.
00:36:32
Speaker
I don't want to go into Brandon Iyuk because of what's been happening over the news a couple days, um but it leaves Miller on the clock. Miller, what are your thoughts? Well, I am super excited at this point. um I got my two running backs. They're set. Now I'm just going to get a bunch of wide receivers, probably in hope for the best.
00:36:52
Speaker
I'm not a really big tight end quarterback early guy unless a value really presents itself. One thing to keep in mind when you're doing these drafts is the number of teams that are out there. In my ideal world, it's a 12 team league. I think that one is kind of the perfect number of teams.
00:37:14
Speaker
It's a little bit bigger, so you don't have the waiver wire players. It's stretched thin. So if you do your research, you kind of have a slight advantage, even though most of this is luck, but you have a slight advantage ah in the draft. So I do think that plays a role in the 12. When you're dealing with 10 team leagues,
00:37:36
Speaker
It's not a bad idea to take the top player each position and that's kind of where I may take a Josh Allen or elite quarterback or elite tight end just so you know for a fact that you have the best tight end or best quarterback every week on your team because The waiver wire is stock full of guys that you can pick up on a daily basis and play and they'll probably get you some sort of performance. Not a huge fan of 10, but that's just something to think about when you're formulating your teams. For me, Devontae Adams actually came and landed on my lap here.
00:38:14
Speaker
I have him projected to be a little higher than the pick we're at right now, so I know the ranking here is 21. I'm trying to see where we're at. We're um we're almost at 30 as far as the pick, so he definitely fell a little bit. While I'm not the most excited about Davante Adams, the one thing that you know is going to happen is he's going to get the catches.
00:38:36
Speaker
he is the only wide receiver in the raid in the Raiders offense. He's going to get it because another reason why you know he's going to get it is because if he doesn't, he's going to bitch and moan. And who knows, maybe he'll end up back with Aaron Rodgers and then I'll have a real steal. So um no, with him falling down, I need a wide receiver.
00:38:55
Speaker
So it's kind of an open and shut case for me. I'm going to take Davante here, um and I'm not really even questioning anything else, especially with two tight ends going off the board a little early in one quarterback and Josh Allen. so Miller, if I'm sorry to cut you off. If Kelsey or even Laporta had fallen here, would that have been a pickup for you? Probably not. No? Okay.
00:39:21
Speaker
five or six tight ends is where I'm looking at. And typically on the third and fourth, I don't want to go there, especially in 10 and 12 team leagues. I just don't feel the need to get those guys. Plus they both have pretty question marks. Um, for me, Laporta, you're going to have some regression and then you have Kelsey, um, that might have some regression and might not play as much with him getting older.
00:39:49
Speaker
All right, and with that, we're gonna move on. And then with him picking Adams, Jaler Hurts is off at the end of the third. And then one of my favorite players that I got to draft a couple of years ago was Mr. Waddle from Miami who starts off the fourth round. And we go back to Miller.
00:40:08
Speaker
At this point, I was really hoping Waddle was going to be here. I have a lot of pieces of Waddle, but the next guy on the list, as you know, I have two running backs. I don't want to take a chance at a quarterback. I might do that on the back, the the next round, but I'm going to go with another solid wide receiver in the Houston offense. I'm going to take Nico Collins, who's their number one. I do have the option to take Mike Evans. i just It's hard for me to trust Baker Mayfield to support that type of I'll put two years in a row. So I'm going to go with Nico Collins there.
00:40:42
Speaker
all right and booping with him making this pick does this make any adjustments for you right now no but i think like your strategy still intact yeah but like and the strategies like the like fantasy football is always saying this is stay water you know have a strategy you plan but like if he takes the guy feel free to like you know try and flex out try and like adjust as best you can one thing i think you know touched on a little bit is tears have like kind of break your people into like tier one wide receiver tier two wide receiver tier three wide receiver just in your head you don't even have to do a lot of work here's three people i think are on top of the league second and so when you're trying to pick that wide receiver one wide receiver two running back one running back two
00:41:24
Speaker
Same thing with the tight ends. He said he's aiming for five or six So you know that if there's a run on tight ends if you're hitting that fourth or fifth You either have to pull the trigger now or you have to wait for the people at the bottom So like start thinking of the tears to if you do those two things The draft work kind of works itself out a little bit better too. So i so Yeah board that's in front of me.
Draft Flexibility Emphasis
00:41:47
Speaker
I think it played out really well All right. And with that board in front of you, Evans got taken out. ah Jackson from Baltimore got picked, followed by Cook. And we have White from Tampa Bay. And then Patrick Mahomes is ah right before your pick. So you are now on the clock.
00:42:04
Speaker
It's good that my home's got taken. I think that would have complicated. ive at least I actually thought I've looked over his side. I don't think I've taken them, but um okay. So I can take DJ Moore, Stefan Diggs, Cooper Cupp, DK Metcalf. If I want wide receivers, neighbors is there too. If I want running back, Joe Mixon is on top of board. Kenneth Walker is also on board. um i like I like a bunch of players in that ah room.
00:42:29
Speaker
I genuinely think that Cooper Cup is going to come back and have a season like he did a couple of years ago. I think last year he was unhealthy. The Puka Nakua part just like makes it complicated. So I'm going to take him here and see how the rest of the boards goes over there. All right. And with that pick. You got to laugh when the team two has four wide receiver to start the draft. Yeah. You just got to laugh.
00:42:55
Speaker
I was just about to go with that. So he picks up cup Metcalf goes next followed by Diggs, Stroud, which I was going to talk about, but we might not have too much time. I feel like Stroud going in that round. I think some people might stretch and pick him up earlier. Mixon is the next pick ah followed by Stroud and we're back on Boopin. So this is this is interesting. I am pretty high on neighbors. I think he's going to have a solid year.
00:43:21
Speaker
That's a pretty good pick. Jeff Walker is the only guy I'm looking at because I need a flex player at this point. Um, so it's, so are you thinking anything about quarterbacks and tight ends here? No, because i'm my I mean, the top five quarterbacks are gone yeah and two tight ends are gone. So, you know, at least two more are probably going to be gone by the time it gets back to you.
00:43:46
Speaker
Yeah, um I think I'm okay with that. I think tight end, i'm probably more concerned about, but I feel like I have at least a pool of like four or five right now that I would want a quarterback. I'm not even looking at them. I think I have a nice little run of quarterbacks on the back end that I can play with since like you said, since I didn't get one of the top end people, I don't think I don't think i can pick up a difference maker here on league winner here.
00:44:11
Speaker
I'm going to go with, um, neighbors here. I think slightly safer pick compared to running back in Walker again, PPR, I think hopefully gets me a bunch of catches and makes up for it. But, uh, that's my team right now. All right. And with that, uh, neighbors got picked and Chicago bear DJ more was to win the follow with Pittman from Indiana. It looks like Walker from Seattle got taken.
00:44:38
Speaker
ah The following tight end got picked up from Arizona McBride. ah Richardson, which is another decent pick, got picked up here and then we go with Miller. So I'm in quite the conundrum here. I have two tight ends, or not two tight ends, two running backs and two wide receivers on my team. I'm excited about both of them, but I'm at the point where I'm looking at quarterbacks Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray, Dak Prescott, Jordan Love are on the board. um Right now I could see Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray and Dak Prescott not getting back to me after my next two picks. And then I'm also in a spot where three tight ends are on the board. So odds are I might not get a tight end if I don't take one in the next two picks. So I have a decision to either go quarterback tight end here or
00:45:37
Speaker
maybe focus on another position and take one of those. So I'm going to go with the, um, I'm going to, I'm going to pass on a quarterback. Hope that maybe one comes back to me. It's kind of similar to my draft yesterday and it bit me in the ass, but who are you hoping to keep him back just out of curiosity? Uh,
00:46:01
Speaker
I would be happy with Dak, Kyler or Burrow. Okay. You, you might like six out of the nine teams have quarterbacks. So like, you and I are two more. There's only two teams taking quarterbacks. So like, that's true. That's true. Now I am going to play a little bit of a game when you have that end of the round pick like I have, I have a nine.
00:46:24
Speaker
or even an eight, you kind of always want to make sure you know the guy after you. You want to know who that 10 team has so you can kind of see what he may take, right? So I'm going to play a game here and I'm going to take a running back because the guy after me needs a running back and I'm going to take the top one because he may. So I don't want to wait on that. So I'm going to take a running back and hope that he doesn't take a tight end here.
00:46:53
Speaker
So I'm going to take Alvin Camara, who's rated high on my board right now as a top running back. So I'm going to jump on him and I'm going to see what happens after that. And it looks like that pick has been locked and the following picks right after that is Andrews from Baltimore. And then we got Dell from Houston, the wide receiver that get picked up at the start of the next round and Miller's back on the clock.
00:47:15
Speaker
So this kind of bit me. I was hoping Andrews was going to get to me. It didn't, but I still in a good spot. I really don't want to pass on a tight end here with four of them off the board because I don't have, I have about 18 picks till I get to pick again. So we're talking about and Since four of them off the board, six teams need them. So realistically, if I pass here, I'm looking at the bottom of the barrel.
Timing for Tight Ends & Quarterbacks
00:47:42
Speaker
So I'm going to take Dalton Kincaid, the tight end out of Buffalo, who I know will probably be a ah high performer based on the fact that Josh Allen doesn't have many people to throw to. I'm not even going to think about the other positions at this point because if I pass on him, I'm going to look slim pickings for tight end.
00:48:01
Speaker
So with you being locked on that, would there ever have been a debate with Kittle or Pitts on top of that? I'm not high on Pitts and Kittle, it would be, but I have Dalton Kincaid higher than him. Kittle is pretty inconsistent.
00:48:16
Speaker
OK, and then our drafters here decide to kind of throw us off a little bit. ah Connor from Arizona gets picked up. Stevens from New Orleans gets picked up. Jones from Minnesota comes in. Smith from Philadelphia. The wide receiver gets in after that, followed by Flowers from Baltimore. So no tight ends got picked, which leaves booping on the clock.
00:48:37
Speaker
Yeah, no, that's that's very interesting. um well I was also looking at the team between me and Miller, kind of like what Miller was saying. So there's like six teams between us, five teams between us. Three of them had quarterbacks here at the tight end. So I was like, okay, like where are my people? Who am I looking for? What's the other considerations I was looking at? So looking at my board right now, top of my board is Omari Cooper.
00:49:01
Speaker
Who again, number one wide receiver in Cleveland, not sure what that means for the ah offense. They have O-line injuries. That's like a T Higgins is a very interesting pick for me because, you know, Chase on and off, who knows what's going to, he's going to get signed, I think, but just like not practicing in the off season, I usually it doesn't work out for at least there'll be, there may be some injuries, some nagging injuries.
00:49:24
Speaker
I do want to pick up a tight end if I can soon, because like Miller said, I don't think a top one would probably be back
T. Higgins Pick & Tight End Evaluation
00:49:31
Speaker
to me. But like Miller was playing, I can probably play a quick little game here to see who gets back to me and see if I can play a little gamble here. I'm going to take T Higgins here, who will actually be my fourth wide receiver. But that gives me some insurance with if the neighbor's pick doesn't work out and see for like a tight end comes back to me on the back end of this.
00:49:54
Speaker
All right, and let's see if that game works out for Boopin. Go ahead and ah make that pick. OK. OK. OK. And the pick has been made. And after Higgins, we have Cooper going out, followed by Pitts. And then we start the following round with Pickens and Montgomery. So we go back to Boopin.
00:50:18
Speaker
This is fascinating. Six teams have tight ends now and the tight end I want is slightly lower. So I'm going to take a quick little peek over the quarterbacks as well. I have some good options there as well. Let me just keep building my team here. Take the best player available and see what what I end up with.
00:50:39
Speaker
yeah While Boopin is going through that, it's funny enough that Team 1 has now a decent team, even though they have a weird way of how they picked it. It's a 10-team draft. Every team will be stacked, like regardless of what it is. I haven't done this much this season, but I may take a little risk here ah take naji harris and as my next pick. Kittle is still on the board. Interesting, all right.
00:51:07
Speaker
he is in he's a ppr machine i may come back and like i mean i may regret this but the tight end i can say this i guess miller's not dang a tight end i'm gonna get evan ingram um so hopefully he's still there when when we come back um And yeah the quarterback tear from looking at so Harris got picked up by booping and then Pollard from Tennessee is up kiddo is finally off the board followed by burrow going to McLaurin And then ah Swift from the Bears got picked up right before Miller which I kind of find interesting but go ahead Miller or is yours
00:51:46
Speaker
All right, so I took the gamble. I i knew the quarterback situation. I was i more one of the tight end. Realistically, I probably hit that correctly. Dalton Kincaid may have been off the board if I didn't pick him, ah but Pitts and Kayla were both there.
00:52:01
Speaker
um So I'm happy I took a tight end where i' I was. Now I'm at a situation where I'm looking, I want a quarterback. Like we talked about, I wanted Burrow, Kyler, or Prescott, and Burrow was taken. So I definitely want a quarterback, but if I look at my team after me that's at the turn, he already has a quarterback.
00:52:23
Speaker
So I don't need to prioritize a quarterback with this pick. I can prioritize it in the next round. So I'm going to focus on just getting back to building my team and taking a look at the running backs and wide receiver situation. So right now I have three good running backs and two wide receivers. So I'm either focusing on best player available or I'm focusing on um wide receiver. um So I'm looking here.
00:52:52
Speaker
um The best player is ranked here is Keenan Allen. I'm not too high on him. ah Christian Kirk, the wide receiver out of Jacksonville, Roma dunes, a or Jaden Reed. um None of those really jump off the page to me. One guy that I think could be a splash play. That's a bit of a reach at this point, but I'm, since I'm going to, I already know I'm taking a quarterback with my next pick.
00:53:19
Speaker
I'm going to take a flyer on Calvin Ridley from the Tennessee Titans. Um, the Andre Hopkins is injured. Calvin i is expected to take a big leaf in this offense. So I'm going to kind of jump a little bit, but because I don't like some of the guys on the board in front of me with wide receiver, I'm going to reach a little bit and go for a ah Calvin Ridley and get him on my team.
00:53:44
Speaker
All right, and while Miller locks in that pick, we're going to see if this gamble paid off. So following that pick, we have Chubb from Cleveland and Kenan Allen wants to start the next round. So it looks like the gamble paid off for Miller.
00:53:57
Speaker
So now the quarterback's here, Kyler Murray of deck Prescott. I prefer Kyler just for the rushing attempts alone. I think that offense with Marvin Harrison will be better. um Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison should be a good receiving core there. And with that rushing attempts to be typically gets it is positive. The one concern that I do have though, is that a call duty black ops is going to be coming out pretty soon. yeah You know, he's back, baby. You know how Kyler likes to get in front of those video games, but I am going to take Kyler and ah I'm going to roll with him as before you make that pick Miller because we are on a timer on there. Oh, God damn it. One question was, could you have possibly held off on that pick and made a play for Tua if you wanted to?
00:54:50
Speaker
and question I mean that's a fine strategy, it is. um The only concern is Tua has the injury issues with the concussions and whatnot and he really doesn't offer the rushing upside that a player like Kyler offers. Now obviously we can talk about this because Boopin would never share with us his draft strategy in real time so I just wanted to ask that question there.
00:55:11
Speaker
So after Murray got picked, we have Kirk from Jacksonville, Reed from Green Bay, Adunze, which I think I probably would have picked Adunze, just because I think he might have a little bit more upside. Yes, get on board, baby. ah But I think it would be more of a bench thing. But ah I always mess up his name. must master Most most are monsters. Yeah, we fuck it up from Miami and worthy from Kansas City, which brings us back to Boopin.
00:55:39
Speaker
the perfect strategy here. My tight end I wanted was Evan Ingram. All the teams between Miller and me had taken a quarterback so I know the quarterback is safe so I think I got both the picks I wanted. My tight end number one who's the highest rated player right now, not number one, but one of the top tight ends I want is Evan Ingram and he's right there. I think that's going to be my first pick. um I'm hoping one of the quarterbacks comes back. The only ah The only issue I see is that the team next to me does not have a quarterback, so there's a good chance they either go quarterback or tight end. If I leave the tight end there, tight end is going to go because tight end is number one. Right now he's the next off the board because his computer, I'm trying to play a game. I'll take Evan Ingram here, hoping that Dak stays on the board and he's my next pick. Oh, and let's see how that works out for Boopin. Pray for me.
00:56:35
Speaker
Oh, you got, I got him. Maybe. Oh, wow. And he gets screwed right before. So it was Addison from Minnesota white from Vegas. Uh, Godwin from Tampa and then Prescott was taken right beforehand. So boot back to booping.
00:56:54
Speaker
Yep, so that was the guy I think in this tier that I wanted. If I didn't get them, there's like, maybe four or five picks later, there's really good um chunk of quarterbacks coming up. I'm not gonna fuss about that a little bit here. I'm just gonna look at the best available players at this time. Rashi Rice is on top of board.
00:57:15
Speaker
um He has some legal issues going, but the that ah trial is not supposed to start till December. There is a very good chance his stuff doesn't materialize till next year. ah Jordan love the quarterback, not that high on him. and If he's here next round, I may consider him um Brock Bowers, the tight end. Again, not looking at tight end. Bunch of tight ends as the best player available. So just to move the game along here, because I'm not super high on any of these people in this little realm.
00:57:45
Speaker
I'm just gonna take Rashi Rice here, who's again might be the number one wide receiver for Kansas City. Xavier Worthy is getting a lot of buzz, but there's a really good chance he's decent in PPR. So I'm gonna take him here. All right. and It's pretty smart with Boopin not having to take a quarterback. You're you're taking a bit of a risk.
00:58:07
Speaker
Uh, and the fact that maybe someone will double up. Um, I have seen that strategy used in the past where some people take two stud quarterbacks and try to trade one, but because you're the only team that doesn't have a quarterback. Uh, realistically, the odds are you can pick most of the quarterbacks, maybe not this round, maybe go up on the position players and get the quarterbacks in the next round or two. So that's smart move there. I'll be honest, I never thought of it that way, so I learned something new. So following his pick, we have McConkie from LA, Moss from Cincinnati, Brown, the wide receiver from Kansas City, Warren, the running back from Pitt, and then Ferguson, the tight end from Dallas, who gets picked and it puts Miller back on the clock with six rounds left.
00:58:57
Speaker
All right. So at this point, you're just looking best player available. like The question or conundrum that does come up is when do defenses go off the board? Like I talked about beforehand, a lot of times when I'm in these 10 team drafts, I do want to get at least one of the top players and maybe even two of the top players.
00:59:17
Speaker
So it's come into my head. We're getting to the 10th round. A lot of the guys that I'm going to be picking now are going to be running backs wide receivers since I have the tight end quarterback taken care of. So we're taking guys that may impact my roster, but they also may just sit on the bench the entire year. So why not take a chance on the defense? So I probably aren't going to do it right now, but I'm definitely going to do it on the come around.
00:59:46
Speaker
um The wide receivers I'm looking at, Deontay Johnson, Keon Coleman, Watson, Hopkins, JSN. ah But if I scroll down a little bit, there's a little guy named Courtland Sutton down here. I'm pretty high on him. This is probably a reach again, but because I'm that ninth pick and I know what I'm doing my next pick, I might not get back.
01:00:07
Speaker
he He may be there, but i'm I've been i'm intrigued by this Denver offense and since he's the only really player there, Bo Nix is going to have to throw it to somebody. I'm going to go with Cortland Sutton because I want to be focused on wide receivers and say on that on that note. So I'm going to take Cortland Sutton here and then it's going to come back to me.
01:00:31
Speaker
all Alright and with that pick Williams from ah Denver gets picked and then Brooks starts the 10th round from Carolina back to Miller So at this point I'm gonna make that splash defense pick probably a little early Sleeper has 49ers defense ranked the highest I've seen a lot 49ers jets or Ravens Pick your poison there A lot of them are are there, so I'm going to reach a little bit and get this 49ers defense. Again, it's early, but if i if I can get that defense that is a high scoring, high sacking machine, it will benefit me down the line.
01:01:13
Speaker
That's actually a great pick.
Draft Dynamics Exploration
01:01:15
Speaker
Um, could definitely see Baltimore going up there too. I don't know if that's going to be a stretch for some people, but given how people draft, I have seen them make that kind of a reach in the past. So with that heckler, it's picked up from Washington wide receiver. Johnson from Carolina follows a single Terry from the giants Coleman, the wide receiver from Buffalo, and then the running back Edwards from the chargers, which leads us to booping to make his pick in the 10th round.
01:01:43
Speaker
Yes, sir. Now, this is very interesting to me. Like, like we talked about Jordan Love, who was there when my last pick was because all of the other nine teams have quarterback is still here. And he's screaming value. He is the 80 second ranked player. We're probably at pick at least like close to 100, I think.
01:02:04
Speaker
110. Yeah, so like this is screaming value. So I'm not super high on him personally, but I get it. What he has around him is undeniable. So like I may just take him here. But again, I know that guy behind me is probably not going to take him. So I'm just going to peek around him, see what's out there. There's a couple of tight ends out there. Brock Birdie, if I want to look at a different quarterback, Caleb is right here too.
01:02:29
Speaker
Um, the other guy is Christian Watson, who's his number one in my books. I think he's going to have a solid year. So if I, let me play another game, I'm going to take Christian Watson here. Just to see if Jordan loves will come back to me. No. And ah he has gone ahead and made the pick and you can hear by his reaction. It did not go well. Wow. ah His pick was followed by Nyoku from Cleveland. Jordan Love ends the 10th round. Hopkins starts the 11th with Bowers from the Las Vegas Raiders. ah The tight end there, which now Boopin is left in a predicament.
01:03:09
Speaker
Yeah, so he was not a quarterback I was looking at, so I'm still safe. I have like three other quarterbacks coming up that I'm pretty high on. So I'm going to keep building the rest of the team. I took receivers with my last two pick. I'm going to take a running back here. Bryan Robinson from Washington is supposed to be there starting running back. ah I'm in the 11th round getting a starting running back. I didn't even realize you saw the board.
01:03:34
Speaker
The amazing thing so like now let me ask a question had he not been on the board When do you guys look at your backup tight end or does that later on the in the round in a 10 team? I'm not picking a backup tight end first off. Okay. Well, I guess that's a that's a good point since we're talking 10 team I guess in a 12 team you might want to consider it. No, I don't ever look at a backup tight. Okay, so um what I'll tell you is like tight end 8 to tight end 24 probably won't make that much of a difference on your team being realistic with you. Yeah, because so I normally do it just to play matchups. That's usually about it. So but Boopin, i I have very much the same thought, which is why I'm trying to get the top six tight ends. And if I'm getting a top six tight end, they're never going to leave my lineup unless they get hurt. And I'm never going to pick my team based on somebody getting hurt. yeah he i they label um buy even leave I'm going to play Dalton Kincaid every week. And when I have that bye, I will pick up a tight end and I will play. I'm not going to keep a roster spot with a tight end. And like booping said, ah once you get past that, like top eight top consistent tight end, you're basically having a crap shoot every year or every week. Like a Ninjoku could do really good this week, but you know what? There could be another tight end out there, like a
01:04:56
Speaker
Nicole Comatte from the Bears, he could have a good week. he is just as likely a chance of, as Ninjoku does. So it's like, at that point, there's no point of having two tight ends, because, and especially the 10 team, you can kind of pick up a tight end at will from the waiver wire. So I really maintain no picking up tight ends, and I really don't pick up a backup quarterback either. And that's why these guys are the pros. So go ahead, Boop, and lock in your pick so we can keep this thing going. I'm still mad at team one, guys.
01:05:28
Speaker
I love what just I would have picked Tua in that spot or Purdy just to put that out there, but he won't have that choice. Tua got taken, followed by Williams from Chicago. Purdy followed right after that. Uh, Miller, you're going to have to help me with that. That's JSN correct from Seattle. All right. Thank you very much.
01:05:55
Speaker
and go dirt from ah Tennessee, or I'm sorry, from Philadelphia for the tight end. Go ahead, Miller. ah So obviously I reached really early on this defensive front. Apparently these, uh, teams that I'm playing against value a backup backup quarterback and backup tight end more than they value a defense, but Hey, what the fuck do I know? Um, and so I, I've been a predicament here. I may really want to fuck a boop in here because I know there's, there's two guys out there that you might take, but
01:06:26
Speaker
Um, I need to focus on my bench more than fucking over booping. So, uh, I'm probably sleepers already doing that. I love that. We, I talked about the backup tight end and then a team still picked up a backup tight end, which I'm going to jump on Jerome Ford, who's a sleeper at this point for Cleveland. Um, he is.
01:06:48
Speaker
the starting running back for Cleveland with Chubb being hurt. He's coming back from an ACL. So not projected to play at least the first four games, um but I am going to take him.
01:07:01
Speaker
as for my running back position. And then o why I'm totally going to fuck boop it down. All right. And with that good news, Miller picking for Daniels got picked up right after him. And then we start the 12th round with Thomas, the wide the wide receiver from Jacksonville. So go ahead and Miller.
01:07:21
Speaker
So it's always fun to just fuck over your teammates. And again, this would not be real. We didn't talk about draft picks beforehand or anything. So this should not be quote unquote happening, but hey, it's a podcast. I mean, we talked about a du fantasy segments. People we like is the very small pool of people that we both like. So makes sense. But you also have to keep in mind your team dynamic. And like I talked about, it's a 10 team team league. You want to make sure that you do have players that are solid for your team. And while Kyler Murray is a quarterback that I should be able to count on, having a guy that I know I can count on consistently is beneficial. So I'm going to take Jared golf here just to really rub it and move in space.
01:08:07
Speaker
And because I know Jared Goff is going to be consistent with that Detroit offense and I don't know that Kyler is going to be a slam dunk ah to be into in this year. So I'm going to pay attention to the by week at that time to Miller. but I don't ever pay pay attention to by weeks period.
01:08:25
Speaker
Alright, good to know. So then with Miller making that pick, ah we have Williams from Detroit, the wide receiver there. Ezekiel Elliott for Dallas gets picked up, followed by Spears from Tennessee. Corum, the running back for the Rams. And then another tight end Hawkins, the tight end from Minnesota, which leaves Boopin on the clock in the 12th round.
Late-Round Draft Strategies
01:08:46
Speaker
Yeah, um the guy next to me might pick up a second quarterback with my luck, but the best available guys, there's a couple of guys I'd be happy with. My next pick will definitely be a quarterback, so even if it's a run on quarterbacks, I should be okay. When I was talking about starting running backs, I have one here from Cincinnati. Chase Brown, he's still on the board. I'm gonna take him here and see if a quarterback falls back to me on the back end of this.
01:09:14
Speaker
And we're going to see if Boopin continues to lose this game. And I think it went well for him. ah So Brown was his pick, followed by Benson from Arizona. We have ah the wide receiver Samuel from Buffalo. And then the 13th round, the kickers are getting some love, with Tucker getting picked up, followed by Butker. And it's back to Boopin.
01:09:39
Speaker
Wow. so I don't think I've ever seen a draft where kickers are drafted before defenses. Yeah, I think this is old school mentality. I remember kickers were last and defense were second to last. I want to see the ADP, but anyway, who knows? Who knows what's happening? So quarterback wise, I have Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, and Aaron Rodgers. I'd be happy to meet her cousins. I'd be happy with any of them there.
01:10:03
Speaker
I'm not super high on Herbert. The offense, I think, will be a run first ah offense with everything they have going on. I might just take Trevor Lawrence and, like, not my favorite option, but I cannot be picky in, like, you know, 13th round here. When people are picking up kickers here, oh my God. I think I would have done a coin flip between um him and, like, Cousins, but I don't know how Cousins is gonna perform, but I see the dilemma you definitely put yourself in.
01:10:32
Speaker
So following that, it's Kickers Galore, Aubrey McPherson, Cool, Elliot, and Moody. All Kickers just got picked. So I think Miller's just going to fuck them and pick up two quarterbacks just to make it easy for booping. But go ahead. You know it. No, I'm actually not going to pick a kicker because I know that guy after me is going to pick a kicker. And I'm OK with Fairbairn.
01:10:55
Speaker
from the Houston or Jason Sanders or really Tyler Bass, any of them, because what you're looking for in a kicker is a high powered offense. It's going to get in field position and get you some points. So with all those three teams, I'm happy with all of them. So I'm actually going to focus on a running back here and that is going to be JK Dobbins. I'm going to take a shot on him. He is the running back from the the Los Angeles chargers. Um, and he is injury prone. Who knows if he's going to actually make a, uh, be an impact player this year. But like Bupin mentioned earlier, I think the LA chargers are really going to focus on running the ball. And to do that, you have Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins potentially. So that's why I'm going to take JK Dobbins on my team.
01:11:49
Speaker
And with that pick, we are entering into the final round. Let's see what gets ah left for him. So we have another kicker fair bomb. And then we have the jets taken off the board with the last round starting off, which goes back to Miller, which is that's hilarious is hilarious dude. This is hilarious. than They did kickers in the nine or in the 13th and defense in the 14th. That's hilarious. This is not how it goes in most drafts, people. This is not how it goes. This is for old school draft. This is like 10, 15 years ago almost. It's probably programmed to go that way. That's funny, though. Well, I'm looking at the ADP, and it looks like that could be the reason why, because the defense of ADP is a lot higher than the kickers for some reason. um So just know that if you want a defense
01:12:37
Speaker
It probably, the first defense typically goes in the ninth, 10th round. Um, and then there's usually a run on the, in like the 11th and 12th defense usually goes a lot of people wait till the end to draft kickers. Cause they're such a crap shoot. You'll have a few sprinkled through here and there, but that's typically how they go. So here I am going to draft a kicker. Like I mentioned, uh, I'm going to go with Jason Sanders from Miami because I know he will. I was going to say the, oh,
01:13:07
Speaker
I was going to see if this guy took all the teams between you had a kicker already. I was going to say if they were not a kicker or a defense at this point.
01:13:19
Speaker
Yeah, now the one thing I did want to point out and then we'll be able to end the draft here.
Draft Reflections & Team Strategies
01:13:24
Speaker
um I don't think a lot of people have started their true drafts, which I think some of the average draft picks might be flawed. I think you're going to see some changes in the next week when a lot of people are holding their drafts before the first game. Yeah, the whole league is definitely like the ADP is probably out the window. It's probably more about who you believe in and stuff like that. Right. Great, great point, Chris.
01:13:46
Speaker
So with that, we have the Ravens, Cowboys, Steelers, Browns, and Chiefs off the board. And Boopin is already going to go hunting in the waivers for one of these guys. He used to decide if he wants to go defense or kicker in this last pick. Yep.
Kicker Picking Strategy
01:14:02
Speaker
I mean, do kicker like Miller saying that ADP seems much higher, at least the top two people on the board than the other people.
01:14:09
Speaker
But again, not a bad strategy, guys. If like, top defenses are gone, or top kickers are gone, you can manage that. Pick people that you really believe in, right? um Like someone else picked up Chubb, who's going to go on the IR, they'll open up a spot, someone picked up Hockinson, who's going to go on the IR, open up another spot. That's another way to like, you know, pick them up, put them in your IR, you'll have one more NP spot, you can do that. so um I'm going to take Tyler Bass here, the kicker from Bills to close out my team here. Like we were talking about, my team is not full. I still need a defense, but that's something I can figure out before week one comes around. And just like that.
01:14:53
Speaker
We end with the Dolphins and the Eagles being you know look look at this look last You and I are the only people to not take kicker in the second last round and like defense in the last round It's really weird. It's that's probably how they're programmed to do. Honestly, this that's probably although I'm looking at team one team one looks all right.
01:15:17
Speaker
Like it looked weird at first, but team one looks okay. Um, I don't know their PPR pick. Yeah. wonderful it does No, it's pretty good. It's decent. Wide receiver looks weak though. Pickings digs and Godwin. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. That's pretty weak at wide receiver, but for 10 team league two, like, and I don't really like Stroud too much, um, there either. So, but, um, yeah, decent with that.
01:15:45
Speaker
Miller, how would you grade your draft? I, I, uh, I, I'm okay with it.
Miller's Draft Review
01:15:53
Speaker
Wide receivers are a little weak, a little sketch, but, um, I reached, let me just run over the team really quick. First pick Hall, second pick Bartley, and I have Devontae Adams, Nico Collins, Camara Kincaid, Ridley, Kyler Murray, Sutton, Niners defense, Jerome Ford.
01:16:10
Speaker
Jared Goff, J.K. Dobbins, and Jason Sanders. I would grade it like a B. i I wish I did better on the wide receiver front, in all honesty. All right, and then Boopin, ri give us your team.
Boopin's Draft Reflections
01:16:23
Speaker
um I have Lamb. I have A-chan and Pacheco. And I have Cop, Neighbors, and Higgins as wide receiver, rounding up my wide receiver. I picked up Harry's there.
01:16:34
Speaker
Ingram is my tight end. I may do things a little bit differently on the back end. I picked up Rishi Rice. Probably should have gone for a quarterback there. Picked up Watson, um but I have two solid running backs if I need them in Robinson and Brown. um my hi My quarterback is Lawrence from Jaguars. Again, not super high on him. My kicker is Tyler Bass. I think like if I were to do things differently, I'd probably pick up well Like who knew people were gonna pick up a second quarterback already they pick up a quarterback earlier So I feel better about that, but I feel pretty decent about my team. Otherwise
01:17:11
Speaker
