Newcastle's Historic Victory at Wembley

00:00:09
Iain
Thank you.
00:00:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome to the Daily Newcastle podcast with Kevin Esther, Ian Mackay and myself, Michael Grahamslaw. Newcastle United have ended a 70-year wait for a domestic trophy with a 2-1 victory over and Liverpool at Wembley Stadium.
00:00:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
A result that ultimately flattered Newcastle's opposition and doesn't really demonstrate the control that Newcastle had during the game. But who cares? We've finally won a trophy.
00:00:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now Ian... You've been waiting longer than any of us for this moment. So how does it feel, my friend?
00:00:42
Iain
It feels absolutely, absolutely wonderful. ah Newcastle had lost their last nine games at Wembley.
00:00:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:00:52
Iain
I think that starts with the defeat in 1974 against Liverpool, which which I remember. So I've seen all nine of those Wembley defeats. And I have to admit, although we talked ourselves into a little bit of optimism in the week running up, I still was sitting and watching it.

Emotional Reactions to the Win

00:01:12
Iain
very, very nervously when it kicked off.
00:01:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:01:14
Iain
But I'm still ah blown away and astounded by how they started and they just kept that level up for 90 minutes. It was absolutely fantastic. I am super delighted.
00:01:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
absolutely fantastic how about you Kev you went down to Wembley take us through your emotions
00:01:33
Kev
Honestly, I have no idea how to even, or where to start or what to say, but I mean, it's what a club. i mean, winning as a Newcastle fan, now we've actually finally won. We've been seeing for ages, like, oh, winning as Newcastle fan would just be so different.
00:01:48
Kev
I have experienced nothing like that.
00:01:49
Iain
Thanks.
00:01:50
Kev
When that Dan Byrne goal went in,
00:01:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:01:52
Kev
I was deaf. couldn't feel a thing. I was hugging strangers. I was jumping up and down with scarves going everywhere. Things getting thrown around. it was absolutely mental. But oh my God, what an experience. and The only thing I need to say is I said after we beat Forrest that we were going to win it.
00:02:10
Kev
I said after we beat Chelsea, we were going to win it. said after beat Arsenal, we were going to win it. And even when I was outside of Wembley, walking up the steps, I said, we are definitely winning this. And I was never in doubt.

Eddie Howe: Newcastle's Greatest Manager?

00:02:20
Kev
I was nervous. Don't get wrong, I was very nervous.
00:02:23
Kev
But, oh my God, I mean, Sir Eddie Howe, right? Is he getting a statue? you What's going on? I mean, come on.
00:02:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think Dan Byrne might not get one in Blythe, but I think Howe might have to do a couple more seasons.
00:02:29
Kev
Greatest manager all time.
00:02:32
Kev
ill like greatest manager I put Eddie Howe number one on my manage Wildcard Wednesday best manager I put Eddie Howe as number one that is undeniable now undoubtable he's done what no other manager's done other than Joe Harvey he is our greatest ever manager i mean unbelievable I don't even know I'm just rambling what a time to be alive
00:02:52
Iain
So, right, first first of many honours that he's going to win in proving to everybody what we already know, that he's ah an elite manager.
00:02:58
Kev
an elite manager an elite manager
00:03:01
Iain
And it's got to start somewhere. So it starts in 2025 with Carabao Cup win for Newcastle. um Which, by the end of the season, he'll have qualified for the Champions League again next year.
00:03:13
Kev
Yep, yep.
00:03:13
Iain
And then, with with plenty of cash to spend in the summer, who knows where we're going next year.
00:03:16
Kev
Oh.
00:03:18
Iain
It's just super ex exciting.
00:03:19
Kev
I mean, look at it. Literally, in three years, saved us from renegation, because let's face it, even when we finished 11th of that season, we were 19th without a win. Saved us from renegation, got us back to the Champions League, got us back the Promised Land, and he's won us a major cup.
00:03:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:03:33
Kev
This isn't a total cup. This is an actual league cup. This is, like, big time. This is Newcastle United finally, finally, finally winning something. Seven decades domestically.
00:03:44
Kev
I mean...
00:03:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:03:45
Iain
It's outrageous.
00:03:46
Kev
Get Eddie Howe a stat, you. But to achieve that in three years, with the players he's got, no first team signings in two years, get him a stat. You, like, do it now. I'll pay for it if have to. I'll find all sorts of credit cards if you have to.
00:03:58
Kev
Unbelievable.
00:04:00
Iain
Did I just say i found something out on Saturday that I never knew? I went up early, a day early, to see me ma'am, who's 92,

Nostalgic Memories from the 1955 FA Cup

00:04:12
Iain
because I didn't want to go up on Sunday because I was watching the match.
00:04:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Wow.
00:04:16
Iain
She was at the 1955 FA Cup final.
00:04:16
Kev
priorities wow well done Ian's man
00:04:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Wow.
00:04:24
Iain
She was 23 and got dragged along by ah ah boyfriend, apparently, or a friend from work. It wasn't even a boyfriend.
00:04:34
Kev
yeah wow we should get her on the pod
00:04:35
Iain
ah Yeah, so she was there. She was there. She she can remember it.
00:04:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, well, absolutely, why not?
00:04:42
Iain
but I shouldn't. Well...
00:04:46
Kev
He's like, nah, nah, too far.
00:04:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
She could tell us everything about Ian's childhood. but Some juicy, juicy stories.
00:04:53
Iain
I was such a good lad as a child. It's my brother who would have all the stories, honestly. I was a goody two-shoes.
00:04:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
a well Well, I guess we'll never find out. But what we will find out about is just how brilliant Newcastle were in that cup final.
00:05:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Now, the girls were very vocal that we were going to win the trophy beforehand. Kev, you were a little bit more reserved in the lead up, but you did.
00:05:17
Kev
I said we're going to smash 3-0. 4-2, said.
00:05:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, I didn't see that, but fair enough.
00:05:22
Kev
four two um
00:05:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ian? Ian?
00:05:24
Iain
Yes.
00:05:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ian? you How were you feeling going into the game? You said you were nervous. Did you think we'd do it?
00:05:29
Iain
hi right I got more and more confident as that. I mean, I was i would i was body-blowed the week before when Hall went out and Botman was injured.
00:05:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:05:40
Iain
Gordon's red card, of course. But I thought that really dirty, nasty 1-0 win at West Ham cheered me up no end. Then I watched the next night Liverpool
00:05:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:05:51
Iain
play for four and a half hours and lose on penalties. And Trent was injured. I thought Canati was going to be injured. He went off quite early, actually. I don't think he was 100%.
00:06:02
Iain
So by the time we got to do the preview, I think i predicted Kev predicted 4-2. But all three of us were going for a win. in 90 minutes because we had talked ourselves into super confidence.
00:06:12
Kev
Yep.
00:06:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm-hmm.
00:06:16
Iain
So I was super, well, I mean, i was hopeful. We're playing Liverpool, weren't we? So I was very, very hopeful, Michael. I was hopeful we could just perform in the way that we can. And I thought we'd give them a really good game.
00:06:27
Iain
And they delivered that in spades.
00:06:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, so what I'm getting at there is I was pretty much the only one in the team who didn't think we'd do it.
00:06:37
Iain
good
00:06:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I'd love to say I was positive before the game, but my wife listens to this and she'll help me as a liar.
00:06:38
Kev
yeah
00:06:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I do have to admit, it was honestly the worst I've ever been before a match.
00:06:43
Kev
Mmm. Mmm.
00:06:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Like literally I didn't message in any, any of my group chats because everyone was being so positive.
00:06:48
Kev
o
00:06:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
I was seeing all this stuff on social media stuff. I was sitting there going, I'm literally just going to bring down people's vibes. I'm sitting there. Uh, and I'm like, I'm watching videos on how much of a genius Eddie Howe is to try and convince myself that we're going to win.
00:07:01
Iain
Thank you.
00:07:07
Kev
No comment.
00:07:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
There's a video that goes out after the,
00:07:08
Kev
Just talk to me. Just ring me. I will convince anybody.
00:07:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah
00:07:11
Kev
Anybody.
00:07:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
but
00:07:12
Kev
in My voice is gone already and I'm not even seven minutes in. i will con convince anybody. Eddie Howard's a genius. and Everything went right in that game, didn't it? I mean, everything from Nick Pope's election, he pulled off an absolute world-class save. I know me and Michael have been saying for a while that Pope should still kind of be playing.
00:07:30
Kev
in the final and what to say that was I thought he was very good off his line couple of dodgy little moments when he came out and headed it and just to a man I was I remember a full-time whistle and I ah in my head and my brother was with us and I just said what a club because for scenes I'd seen nothing like it and then I just started reeling off players I was like Nick Pope, Tino Evermanto, Fabian Shaw, Dan Byrne
00:07:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
hundred percent
00:07:47
Iain
I said,
00:07:51
Iain
you have to go. You have to go.
00:07:54
Kev
I was just going through pretty much the whole squad.
00:07:55
Iain
You have
00:07:56
Kev
Joel Hinton, I was like, these guys are absolute heroes. like The way they performed on a big occasion, with all the pressure, all the expectation, the second final in three years, we should be a lot better.
00:08:01
Iain
to go.
00:08:08
Kev
But... Everything about Honestly, the players just got to look at Bruno's reaction at full time. Look at Joe Linton crying.
00:08:13
Iain
yeah
00:08:14
Kev
There's tears everywhere. These guys get it and they get it. I'm going to come all the way back. It comes all the way back to Eddie Howe. He makes sure they understand what the club is about.
00:08:23
Iain
Thank you.
00:08:23
Kev
He's done his research. He knows what the club about. And he made the hotel or he made them stay outside of the city centre this time because he felt it was too much distraction. That clearly helped because they were mega focused as soon as that whistle went.
00:08:35
Kev
So... Just Eddie Howe is a genius. Give him a 10, 20, infinite year contract. And then spend lots of money. Spend lots of money. You can stay there as long as he wants. Give him the keys to the city and make a mayor.
00:08:47
Kev
um Yeah, just what a guy. Sir Edward Howe. I don't know if he's got a middle name, but if he has, I would have said it.
00:08:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Absolutely. And I think for me, going into the game, one of the things that made me the most nervous was seeing the fact we lined up 4-3-3. ah Before we go into our first advert, just want to say, obviously, we did get the lineup. We got the 4-3-3. I saw Harvey Barnes on the left and thought, holy mother of Bruno, we're going to try and match them.
00:09:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
In the next part, we're obviously going to talk about how it was a masterclass. But for now, Ian, how did you feel when you saw the starting

Tactical Breakdown of the 4-3-3 Formation

00:09:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
line-up? Were you surprised we went to
00:09:28
Iain
Not surprised at all. Not surprised in the slightest. I said, because Eddie said, after the West Ham game, he's not resting anybody, played his strongest team against West Ham, so he would play the same 11 when they played the Cup Final.
00:09:44
Iain
And they did.
00:09:45
Iain
And I thought, if we sit back off them, like we did when we played at Anfield, we would get unpicked. I wanted them to go really, really brave. I wanted them to go man to man, the man to man.
00:09:45
Kev
Thank you.
00:10:00
Iain
And that's just what they did. um And each of the players has a responsibility to win their duels. And I think we won those battles 11 to nil.
00:10:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
hundred so 100%. What about you, Kev? Were you at all surprised by anything in the lineup?
00:10:17
Kev
I wasn't surprised by the 4-3-3 because I thought Liverpool were the most vulnerable of the season, so it was the right time to get at them and get into them. um I was a little bit surprised, was kind of expecting Willock start left, even though Barnes got the assist, I was expecting maybe Barnes being more of an impact player and Willock starting, but I mean Willock played an incredible part as well when he was coming on, just booting it off from the waste time.
00:10:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:10:33
Iain
Thank you.
00:10:37
Kev
um But yeah, i guess I guess maybe I expected Willock, but i will no matter what team he picked, that I said on previous pods, it was written in the Stars. We beat Nottingham Forest, who were third. We beat Chelsea, who were fifth.
00:10:50
Kev
We beat Arsenal, who were second. The only team left in the competition above us was Liverpool, and we met them in the final. So I was convinced we did it the hardest way possible because we're Newcastle United. And after doing it the hardest way possible, we decided to give them a goal first.
00:11:04
Kev
and add on 12, 13, 14 minutes until Liverpool tried to equalise and still hang on and it just made everything so much better. So the only surprise was Barnes really but I mean I can't fault any of these players and this squad ever again. I never will.
00:11:19
Kev
So anyone listening in future expecting me to be ultra harsh on a Newcastle player or Eddie Howe or anybody, it's just not happening this season. we can do I mean I want them to finish top four, course I do, but how can we ever criticise this squad or this manager ever again?
00:11:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, they were absolutely fantastic. And speaking of absolutely fantastic, oh, it's by Anik.
00:11:42
Kev
Thank you.
00:11:45
Iain
I'm not going to
00:12:09
Iain
be able to that.
00:12:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
cracking stuff. So in the first half, I knew Liverpool were a little bit more methodical under Arnie Slott than they were under Klopp.
00:12:24
Iain
And I think that's a good thing.
00:12:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I didn't quite ah expect to see a bit more aggression. You know, they've just been knocked out the Champions League. They had something to prove on Sunday. But from the first minute, it was blatantly obvious who wanted this more.
00:12:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
What do you think, Kev? How did the first half look for you? Were we just all over the place, completely on top? Or were Liverpool maybe a little sluggish? How did you see it?
00:12:48
Kev
um I might sound like nitty here. I haven't watched anything back. Obviously, I've been down to London. I've been in Wembley. I've been back to work today. It's been my birthday, so I've been running around everywhere. and So I haven't watched any highlights back.
00:12:58
Kev
But from the point of view of being there, it just felt like we were...
00:12:59
Iain
Thanks.
00:13:02
Kev
We were on top. I mean, Liverpool had the chance in the second half, but talking about the first half. And I can't remember any real chances for Liverpool in the first half. I did get PTSD.
00:13:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
no
00:13:12
Kev
You know what? we only ch The only time I was worried we got PTSD, we got a free kick, Trippi gave away a free kick on like their left wing. And Casemiro scored from a very similar free kick two years ago.
00:13:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah it's all it takes yeah yeah
00:13:23
Kev
And I was thinking, just survive this and we'll win. And then I think he just cropped it right into Nick Pope's arms. And I was like, right, that's it. We've won. Let's go mental. and um But we had a couple of chances, didn't we? We had a couple of chances. We had the Bruno's little flick from a burn knockdown.
00:13:36
Kev
I don't know if he didn't get enough on it or could have got more on it. I know you guys have watched it on TV, so you'll be able to kind of let me know more. But we had Bruno's chance. We obviously had Burns' goal, which was really good. We had Tenali when he cut inside and whipped one.
00:13:49
Kev
and I don't know how close that was. It might have been miles away, but it looked very close from where was in Wembley.
00:13:54
Iain
It was good.
00:13:55
Iain
That was the first one. That was first chance.
00:13:55
Kev
Yeah.
00:13:56
Kev
Yeah. And then we had a couple of ones. I mean and i remember actually a one, two with Barnes and Isaac where Barnes just over hit the ball. But he I think there was a chance when Isaac then pulls it back to Tenardi.
00:14:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:14:05
Kev
So that was another half moment. and And I tell you what, Tino going forward on the left much better than when he goes forward on the right.
00:14:09
Iain
was It was a
00:14:12
Kev
How does Tino offensively, he's so much better offensively on the left.
00:14:13
Iain
Absolutely.
00:14:16
Kev
but so much better defensively on the right. I wish we could find a balance here, but we've got an absolute genius manager, an elite manager, cup-winning manager, who will find out how to get that right.
00:14:28
Iain
First half, you've forgotten. um What's he called? Robertson? Robinson.
00:14:35
Kev
Robert.
00:14:35
Iain
Robinson with a with a double arse block, first of all from Isaac Hedder, and then a Trippier follow-up.
00:14:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Robertson.
00:14:35
Kev
Yeah.
00:14:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:14:39
Kev
yeah he's not
00:14:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:14:42
Iain
Off his backside twice and out for a corner, which, hey, good defendant.
00:14:44
Kev
yeah
00:14:47
Kev
Yeah.
00:14:47
Iain
I'm not sure he knew a lot about it, but good defendant.
00:14:50
Kev
Trippier was amazing, by the way. Trippier, for me, I know Dan Byrne gets all applauded. Dan Byrne was... and There was so many amazing performances. Joe Linton. But for me, when we needed the calmness, Trippier, lots of nice little head backs to a goalkeeper, calming everybody down.
00:15:02
Iain
Yeah.
00:15:04
Kev
For me, Trippier was man of a match.
00:15:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah
00:15:05
Kev
And I'm not just saying, Max, I picked him for player of the season. But... But he is, for me, he was so important. And you could see the players around him. Fabian Shaw, I don't know how many kind of cup finals he's played in in the past, but he was starting to be calm and he started finding his passing range.
00:15:20
Kev
I mean, nobody needed to calm Dan Burn down.
00:15:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:15:22
Kev
He was just on one from... whistle one but then the players in front of him like Tenari and Bruno and Joelinton it's just Trippier's presence was incredible and we needed it early on and once we got one and two up everyone started to get the rhythm and confidence but honestly in the first 20-25 minutes Trippier was so influential so influential
00:15:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, 100%. It's interesting. Obviously, care if you're having that time to watch too much back.
00:15:46
Kev
nah
00:15:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ian, how did do you see it? Do you see exactly the same? Newcastle, dominant?
00:15:51
Iain
I was watching the match on my own and my missus was through watching something rubbish in the bedroom. But she knew it was important.
00:15:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
As always.
00:16:00
Iain
She knew it was an important game. So she kept asking how things were going and I kept shouting through, it's still 0-0, but we're really on top. We've just missed this one. We should have scored there.
00:16:08
Kev
Mm-hmm.
00:16:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:16:10
Iain
And before Dan Byrne actually scored, ah she knew when Dan Byrne scored because I shouted loud enough to have the windows rattling. um but ah But I must have said we should have scored three or four times before that, because it was all us.
00:16:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:16:27
Iain
The first shot that Liverpool had, I think, was one that Jota had and completely mishit. And it was a nice move.
00:16:35
Kev
very end of the first half.
00:16:35
Iain
And Jota snatched at it and it went out for a throw in.
00:16:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:16:36
Kev
I do remember it now. Yeah.
00:16:40
Iain
I think it was so far away.
00:16:42
Kev
even
00:16:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
00:16:42
Iain
um It was a nice move and they'd looked threatening there. But but Liverpool, who who can do that for... non-stop normally, like that was it.
00:16:54
Iain
That was about as threatening as they got. I remember the free kick, curled two shorts straight into the arms of Nick Poe and our high line meant that nobody was anywhere near it.
00:17:01
Kev
Yep.
00:17:03
Iain
So it really was a back pass.

The Stadium Shakes: Dan Byrne's Pivotal Goal

00:17:06
Iain
Liverpool were nowhere in the first half um and it it was wonderful. Once Burn had scored, it was wonderful. I didn't think we were, I just thought we were going to go on and score more.
00:17:14
Kev
Oh, I wish. I wish I could explain to listeners, I wish I could explain to anybody who asks what that feeling was like in the stadium.
00:17:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right.
00:17:25
Kev
I wasn't directly behind the ball, but I knew it was going towards a goal and I saw the side netting ripple. And honestly, the ground underneath his like was shaking and I was like, when we're the new stadium, it shouldn't be happening. to him And I didn't really care about my safety. I was just going absolutely mental.
00:17:41
Kev
And then people were trying to say things to us, like, come on or... and get in and I was just like i don't even know what you're saying I know what you're trying to say but this is just all so too much and it's so loud and it felt like the arch was rocking but it couldn't have been and and the floor was shaking and I was just in disbelief I wish I so wish every Newcastle fan in the world could experience what that felt like in person because I wish I could do a job of it it was everything you could ever imagine and more and it's everything which made all of us as Newcastle fans fall in love with the club
00:17:50
Iain
Thank you.
00:18:14
Kev
And it's what probably makes it 45 million times better when we win a trophy compared to every other team. Because I will never, for as long as I live, think, unless we win the Premier with the last kick of a game like Aguero, I don't think I will ever explain anything like that goal again.
00:18:21
Iain
Thanks.
00:18:30
Kev
And I so wish I could give that to people or explain it. Unbelievable when that burn goal went in. Honestly.
00:18:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, 100%.
00:18:37
Kev
Man, what thing.
00:18:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think it had to be Dan Burned and the week he gets his first England call-up, you just look at him and he must have had the greatest week of his life. I think a lot of them have, to be honest.
00:18:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joe Linton getting back in the squad for Brazil, as you mentioned. and you know bit of For me, Joe Linton was man of the match. I can get on to that later, but
00:18:55
Kev
It was amazing, yeah.
00:18:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
I thought he was absolutely fantastic. And so many players put in those kinds of performances, but you mentioned the goal there and I found it really interesting.
00:18:59
Iain
Thank
00:19:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Something i had seen after the game was Trippier who'd said um they'd looked at the game tactically and they'd avoided putting balls in swingers. into the box because they knew how good Virgil van Dijk was in those scenarios, but they'd identified a weakness in outswing us.
00:19:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
And obviously both of our goals come from outswinging crosses. um So absolutely fantastic seeing those small details make so, so big of a difference. Obviously Eddie Howe, the c we have set piece coaches, Jason Tindall, I'm pretty sure still.
00:19:33
Iain
Thank
00:19:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
So shows just how good those two work on it for those big games. But just want to sort of mention, we When we played Liverpool a few weeks back, I think we all admit we were absolutely dreadful.
00:19:47
Kev
he admitted this, or didn't he?
00:19:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
oh Yeah, but what I'm looking at now and thinking, is it kind of like when you see a horse in the Cheltenham Festival that hasn't finished in the top three in a race for 12 months and the owner's just there just like, yeah, but we know what we're doing.
00:19:50
Kev
Yeah.
00:20:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
we've we've We've scouted him.
00:20:06
Iain
Thank you.
00:20:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
We want to see what he was good at, wanting to see what you know what we would work well with. And then when it comes to the big bucks game, then you see a completely different side of them. Captain Guinness is the one in my mind for anyone that's into the horse racing as well.
00:20:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
But obviously Newcastle were missing Alexander Rezac as well. So do you think maybe we looked at the Premier League game as, right, this is a bit of a free hit. Let's use it as a bit of a scouting mission.
00:20:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Or was it just a case of we were missing Rezac and, you know, that's what missing Alexander Rezac can do to a team.
00:20:40
Kev
How was asked about that, wasn't he?
00:20:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
What do you think, Kev?
00:20:41
Iain
I think, yeah, I think Izak was left out. He said wanted to keep the powder dry.
00:20:45
Kev
Yeah, yeah, he said.
00:20:46
Iain
Didn't want to let them know what the were what they were going to come up against. And I don't know how quickly after that game Joe Linton came back, but maybe Joe Linton was kept off because because these are the game changers.
00:20:50
Kev
Yeah, yeah.
00:20:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:20:58
Kev
Mm-hmm.
00:20:58
Iain
Didn't let Liverpool have a look at them in that match. I think it might have lulled them into a little bit of a false sense of security, which is bold.
00:21:03
Kev
Definitely.
00:21:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's what i was thinking.
00:21:04
Kev
He said he said that they didn't want he said he said we didn't want to show their hand too early and he said that they still tried to win the game. Of course they did. But he said that he didn't want to give anything away because the cup final was so big and he was hoping it would pay off. He said, we still try to win the game. We just try to win it in a different way.
00:21:21
Kev
And that is one of the rare things I have seen since getting back. So obviously I've been scrolling through social media when I can in between doing things. And I saw that interview and I thought, oh my God, I've literally saved on my phone because that shows how good the guy is.
00:21:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:21:28
Iain
Thank you.
00:21:34
Kev
Again, not He knows how big it is to win a trophy. He knows what it means to the city. And he knew that he didn't want to show his hand too early. He didn't want to play Zach. He didn't want to play Joe Linton. Absolute genius. Honestly, if Mourinho did that right and said that in if interview, everyone will be talking about it across the world. It on Sky Germany, Sky Italia, it Sports News here.
00:21:53
Kev
Because Eddie Howe said because he's such a polite guy and such a gentleman and an absolute just belter of a person. It just went under the radar a little bit. But honestly, genius. Genius.
00:22:05
Iain
does it reveal the complete rubbish that Eddie only takes one game at a time can't look at any other game other than this game in front my word he's not he's got it all planned out he's new can win this final
00:22:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Absolutely.
00:22:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Just a little bit.
00:22:12
Kev
Yeah, exactly.
00:22:16
Kev
ah Exactly. First English manager win a trophy since 2008. Greatest Newcastle manager ever.
00:22:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, Harry Redknapp and Steve McLaren.
00:22:25
Iain
you know
00:22:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Great company.
00:22:28
Kev
right yeah
00:22:31
Iain
He's the
00:22:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's definitely the best that's wanted since Howard Wilkinson, we can say that.
00:22:34
Kev
great newcastleman if you ever
00:22:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
thinking of fantastic things you can see where this is going because i've already done it once but this is a segue into our second
00:22:42
Iain
king of the legs! He's the king of the legs!
00:22:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
this is our second advert and this one will be read out by ian and it is from zencaster

Controversy Over Disallowed Goal

00:23:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
And so Newcastle start the half with a one goal lead, but in controversial fashion, we're denied a second early in the second half with...
00:23:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Something that I don't think a concrete reason has actually been decided yet, but we've heard many different things. The one that seems to make the most sense to me is that Bruno Gamares was judged to be in an offside position in the lead up to the goal.
00:23:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Alexander Izek was confirmed as onside. I personally didn't hear anything when we were watching, but it wasn't Shearer's and you know the commentary wasn't great. So ah it could be we missed something, but Ian, you heard something else.
00:24:02
Iain
Well, you see, I'm going to have to go back and listen again. I'm sure on the post-match interview, Alexander Isaac said the referee told him it was disallowed for handball.
00:24:13
Iain
Now, I'm not sure if that ball bounces up at him for him to sweep it in, in which case it hits his hand.
00:24:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:24:21
Iain
I don't know. i haven't seen that. I think it would make sense if it was disallowed for Bruno being offside because he is standing right in front of the coley.
00:24:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:24:30
Iain
I have and And it was at a horrible moment when I thought we'd gone two up and then it was ruled out because you're thinking, oh, no. But we didn't have very long to worry about that because I think it's only a minute and a half later when but there's a fabulous move down the left unfolding.
00:24:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, absolutely. And before we get to that, I do just want to get a little feeling from you, Kev, of how it was like inside the stadium. Did it feel like Hart had dropped a little bit after that disallowed goal, or was 90 seconds not enough to really get the vibe?
00:24:56
Kev
oh
00:25:01
Kev
I mean, i haven't seen it back. I will say that when it was given, everybody around me was convinced. We were convinced. We were like, Azak's onside. Joel Linton's played it back. Burns then had a shot. The keeper saved it.
00:25:13
Kev
And Azak was behind the ball or in line. And we were like, how's that offside? What's going on? There was a lot of anger at the time with us. But then the Liverpool fans finally... finally started making some noise and when it was announced that it was disallowed.
00:25:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
woke up. Yeah.
00:25:25
Iain
I'm sorry.
00:25:26
Kev
So we were a bit like, oh, that's going to give them all the hope in the world.
00:25:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:25:29
Kev
He would go, this is so Newcastle, little bit of a controversial one.
00:25:32
Iain
I'm sorry.
00:25:34
Kev
Liverpool are finally you know up for it now and got a bit of motivation.
00:25:34
Iain
I'm sorry.
00:25:38
Kev
And then 90 seconds later, I have absolutely zero zero idea what the goal, I know it was a Liverpool cross, i think Murphy edited it a down and he za put it across to keep a
00:25:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:25:49
Kev
But holy hell, I have zero idea other than what I've just said on what actually happened because everything was a blur. I started to think we could finally win it. ah said I said we'd win four, we'd score three or four.
00:26:00
Kev
And I was am I right about that? And we were just brilliant. We were pressing them after that. We were still going at them. We didn't really sit off until they brought on two subs. Everything after that was a blur.
00:26:11
Kev
a black and white blur. And it was just Alexander Izak. I thought he had a quiet game up until that moment. Again, I haven't watched it back, so I don't want to just back myself too much on this.
00:26:16
Iain
not alone. You should be and you are not alone.
00:26:20
Kev
But I don't care if he's having a quiet game. If he sweeps out of the side of a goalkeeper versus a game.
00:26:22
Iain
You should be alive and you are not alone.
00:26:26
Kev
Around me, it started to feel like we could finally win it. Because the 1-0 at halftime, were still thinking, oh, it's Liverpool.
00:26:29
Iain
You should be alive and you are not alone.
00:26:32
Kev
King of comebacks and big games, Istanbul, all these things.
00:26:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:26:36
Kev
And then the second one went in and we went nuts. And then after calmed down, it didn't really calm down, but we could speak to each other because it wasn't definitely loud. and we thought We started saying, my God, are we actually going to win this?
00:26:43
Iain
you
00:26:47
Kev
Is this really going to happen? oh It's just amazing. Again, the feeling, i wish I could give it as a gift to everybody because that will but will cure depression.
00:26:58
Kev
It'll cure any sort of mental health issues. It'll cure anybody's bad day. If I could bottle that up and give it to people for free, I would honestly, it would be world peace if everybody could feel like that. That's what it's like supporting Newcastle United it in a moment like that.
00:27:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I feel like this is probably a moment where I should recognise that Kev is not a licensed doctorer doctor and that is not a medical cure.
00:27:17
Kev
It would cure.
00:27:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
But........................
00:27:19
Kev
yeah It would cure.
00:27:19
Iain
that good
00:27:20
Kev
I promise you, I don't care if we have to be PG, that would cure anything. The feeling belonging and the weight and the passion and the club and the cathedral on the hill, the black and white stripes, the losers for years, for seven decades, the tough times of relegation after relegation and Mike Ashley for 14 years from the Bobby Robsons to the Kevin Keegans to everything.
00:27:27
Iain
Thank you.
00:27:43
Kev
That was... Just beautiful. That would cure everything.
00:27:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Absolutely.
00:27:49
Kev
I promise you.
00:27:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
We really deserve credit because I think it's very easy, particularly against Liverpool, when that disallowed goal... Well, the goal gets disallowed, should we say, to heads to go down, Liverpool to start comeback, because as you say, that fan started making noise.
00:28:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think I heard Steve Gerrard at some point beforehand.
00:28:04
Kev
Finally.
00:28:07
Kev
That was us. That was us.
00:28:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nice.
00:28:08
Kev
He stepped up from 40 yards. He thinks that he's effing hard.
00:28:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, well.
00:28:11
Kev
Steve Gerrard. That was us. It wasn't even them.
00:28:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, well, you know... I can't say the Liverpool fans did anything right then in that case. um But after the second goal goes in, we've mentioned it's ah it's a brilliant cross from Tino Livermanto, who I said didn't have a left foot.
00:28:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Look at what happens when I say stuff. ah We're not going to qualify for the Champions League and we're not going to win the league next year. I'm always wrong. Brilliant. But it's a beautifully cushioned header from Jacob Murphy and Alexander Azak.
00:28:40
Iain
Oh.
00:28:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
knocks it in. There's never any doubt.
00:28:42
Iain
There's not a. that's
00:28:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
But Liverpool started to grow into the game. Curtis Jones forced Nick Pope and are an absolutely fantastic save. He's already diving and gets his hand up um and you know it's a brilliant save.
00:28:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
But honestly, I didn't think Liverpool troubled Nick Pope all that much.
00:28:56
Iain
on
00:29:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Ian, were you expecting a ah bit more of an onslaught from Liverpool at that point or were you expecting what happened? Newcastle to be solid.
00:29:09
Iain
I was, well, I was waiting for an onslaught because he kept taking the slot. ah After we went two up, he took two players off, brought more forwards on. They did it again.
00:29:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:29:18
Iain
At one stage, there were six attacking players, I think, at the end.
00:29:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:29:21
Kev
Yeah. Yep.
00:29:22
Iain
and But I'll tell you what we haven't mentioned. We didn't really try and play through them. We played a lot of long balls so that we didn't give them the opportunity to win it back in our half on a press, which I think was a masterstroke by Howe, because that's how liverpool gets Liverpool turn the ball over in in our half and they're so quick to get it out wide.
00:29:47
Kev
yeah ye
00:29:50
Iain
out wide So many good attacking players. That's how they score a lot of their goals. And we, ah think I think, have learned from that. We just didn't do it.
00:30:02
Iain
We played a lot of long balls up the wing. um even Even Pope, when he had the ball and in his hands, was kicking it. It's a good, i I mean, real old school um match of football.
00:30:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:30:17
Iain
None of this tippy-tappy rubbish playing out the back.
00:30:19
Kev
yeah
00:30:20
Iain
I'm really pleased because I'm som fed up of watching the ball go from side to side between Schar and Byrne and Trippier and back again. They didn't do any of that. um it was It was moved forward and it wasn't just moved forward with a little short pass.
00:30:36
Iain
Until the end, until Bruno tried and did a funny little step over and got robbed and we went 2-1 behind.
00:30:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:30:42
Kev
Chip, you went nuts.
00:30:43
Iain
that's exactly the but That's exactly the problem that would have happened if we'd started playing try to play through the Liverpool press. They'd have won the ball back so many times. but But I mean, it's a masterstroke not to do that.
00:30:57
Kev
How close was Keir's offside?
00:30:58
Iain
The long ball game.
00:30:59
Kev
Because he looked miles offside in the stadium. He obviously wasn't. But how close was he?
00:31:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, he was well on. He was well on. Yeah.
00:31:04
Kev
God.
00:31:04
Iain
Half a yard on.
00:31:05
Kev
God. It looked...
00:31:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:31:06
Kev
It looked...
00:31:09
Iain
He was more on than Isaac was, if you know what I mean.
00:31:11
Kev
Hmm. Hmm.
00:31:12
Iain
Than Isaac was on.
00:31:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:31:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's just ah a bit of a lapse in concentration from Schar.
00:31:14
Kev
Hmm.
00:31:15
Iain
He still...
00:31:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Unfortunately, doesn't move up while the others do. But again, as we say, it starts from Bruno just trying to be a little bit flashy in the middle, which he didn't do all game. He was really, really professional throughout the game.
00:31:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Even when he did do the odd flick here and there, it it wasn't in any danger and you know it felt necessary because of the press.
00:31:33
Kev
Hmm. Hmm. Oh.
00:31:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's just sort of one of those, obviously, Geordie boys taking the the mick, shall we say. It's one of those things that, you know, we sing it, but usually we don't. It felt like Bruno did there and it's to be honest, it it did cost us a goal.
00:31:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's a great finish by Federico Chiesa, who obviously Newcastle were linked with in the summer. um But he hasn't had the best of starts, but you looked at that then went, ah here we go.
00:32:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
But obviously it never happened. And at the
00:32:03
Kev
So

European Qualification and Top Five Ambitions

00:32:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
end of the day, Newcastle were victorious and subsequently have qualified for Europe, which was the aim at the start of the season.
00:32:04
Kev
bad. So bad.
00:32:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
But my question to you both, just as we look to end it there, and I'll also ask you your man of the match. But, Kev, do you think that Newcastle United can go one further and finish in the top five and then subsequently qualify for the Champions League?
00:32:31
Iain
right.
00:32:31
Kev
I think we'll finish fourth.
00:32:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Oh.
00:32:34
Kev
I think we'll finish fourth, but I think we'll definitely be in the top five. Yes, yes, 100%. hundred percent I think we'll have Champions League. um I think we'll have Champions League next season and we'll go into next season as the League Cup holders, trying to defend it.
00:32:47
Kev
Hopefully another trip to Wembley would be amazing. um
00:32:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Successfully.
00:32:50
Kev
And i also think it will... This is a massive stepping stone for the club. we We're not just going into the next season, hopefully, if that happens in the Champions League and is the League Cup, to try and defend the League Cup. I think is's a massive it's a massive boost of this for everybody.
00:33:04
Kev
and The players who were there, the players who would put the work in, it's a massive boost for Eddie Howe, the owners, um everything. It's now time to invest. It's now, again, Howe's got to get a first-team signing or two or three, hopefully.
00:33:17
Kev
and to really strengthen the squad. But yes, we will finish in the top five.
00:33:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Absolutely fantastic. And what about you, Ian? Do you think we can finish the season off with a bang and finish in the top five?
00:33:30
Iain
ah look at the game Looking at the games that we have, and we've been through them.
00:33:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Qualify for the Champions League?
00:33:35
Iain
I predicted seven or eight wins from the last 11. One of the tough ones was West Ham, which we won at.
00:33:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:33:44
Iain
So we need to win seven of these last 10 games, and I think that's well within us. um The confidence winning that final against Liverpool will give to the team, particularly when they're away in Saudi now, aren't they?
00:33:59
Kev
to buy.
00:34:01
Iain
or Dubai, is it?
00:34:02
Iain
They have some warm weather training, which they've done, every time they've done that and come back, they've gone on a really good run. So what I'm looking for is for them to match their nine straight wins in a row in the next nine league games.
00:34:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Wow.
00:34:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oof.
00:34:15
Iain
And then we'll finish third. We'll finish third.
00:34:18
Kev
Yeah.
00:34:19
Iain
I do think we'll qualify for the Champions League, yes.
00:34:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Uh.
00:34:22
Kev
I do.
00:34:22
Iain
That's got to be the target.
00:34:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Uh. If we go on that kind of run, who says we can't finish top two? But before I get a little bit deluded, let's talk about man of the match. Now, obviously, you could have maybe not 11 candidates, maybe nine, ah maybe eight. But Ian, I'm going to go to you first.
00:34:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Who is your man of the match?

Who Was the Man of the Match?

00:34:44
Iain
oh ah Well, I ah kind of want to pick somebody that that other people aren't going to pick, just but then you've got to acknowledge how what a colossus Dan Byrne was, what an impact that goal that he scored was.
00:34:55
Kev
Mm-hmm.
00:34:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
00:34:59
Iain
i so And you've given me first choice, so I will go Dan Byrne was man of the match. He was a one-on-one man of the match as well, but I thought,
00:35:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:35:08
Iain
I thought you're right. I thought there might be seven or eight candidates to be picked out as the best. And it was the other guys who were instrumental in setting up the two goals.
00:35:22
Iain
So, yeah, we're just wonderful.
00:35:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
absolutely absolutely fantastic Kev you've had a bit of time to think about it you said Trippier earlier is Trippier still your man of the match for the cup final
00:35:36
Kev
Sticking with him, sticking It was so important early on, his calmness and his experience. But it wasn't just as calm as an experience. He defended incredibly well on the right-hand side.
00:35:46
Kev
I don't think anybody got past him.
00:35:47
Iain
Thank you.
00:35:48
Kev
I think somebody did kind of half get past him and he kind of accidentally fouled him when Murphy wasn't tracking.
00:35:48
Iain
eaten
00:35:54
Kev
And then he made sure Murphy knew to track again. He also had a goal at Bruno when he lost the ball in the midfield for that goal. He's just an absolute leader.
00:36:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:36:04
Kev
His leadership qualities were so, so important on the day. But defensively, he was brilliant. I thought offensively, he was very good, picking little passes down the line, passes inside the midfielders, allowing them to then switch for play. and And he was just brilliant.
00:36:17
Kev
A couple calm-headed back passes to Trippier. His positioning was brilliant. He got caught out against Man City from a couple of long balls.
00:36:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:36:24
Kev
And Liverpool tried to do that a couple of times. but he was in the right position. He backed up well and then just headed it back to Nick Pope so calmly. So for me, Trippier, and is look, his set pieces, brilliant.
00:36:35
Kev
and We can all, and again, Michael, you rightly mentioned it, we can all say, yeah, keep the ball away from Van Dijk and Canardy and outswing it towards the back post, but to have a technical ability... to do that repeatedly with corners and free kicks is and another skill altogether.
00:36:50
Iain
I'm hoping
00:36:50
Kev
um
00:36:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah,
00:36:51
Kev
So, yeah, for me, Kieran Trippier was man of a match. But like like Ian said and and like you said, Michael, there's five or six who need shout-outs, so over to you.
00:37:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah I think...
00:37:02
Iain
you're going to pick the third man to be the top three.
00:37:04
Kev
Yeah, because there's only one third, man.
00:37:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
us Well...
00:37:06
Kev
Yeah, agree.
00:37:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well... I'm probably not going to pick the man that you're expecting to say. um I will say Bruno would have been up there if it wasn't for the last moment, and but he's not the person I'm going for.
00:37:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
person I'm actually going for is a player that... Kev's doing a pyramid, sideways pyramid.
00:37:28
Kev
was It was supposed to be a seven.
00:37:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Greater than...
00:37:30
Kev
and Number seven. It was supposed to be like a seven.
00:37:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I said Joe Linton earlier. I did say Joe Linton earlier.
00:37:37
Kev
He wouldn't be amazing.
00:37:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I do also want to give a shout out to the person that I am probably harsher on than anyone else on this planet. And that is Tino Livermento. um I've never seen Mo Salah have a quieter game.
00:37:50
Kev
Hmm. Hmm.
00:37:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
He didn't have a shot. He completed one dribble in the entire game. And when you look at the impact Lewis Hall's had on the side, Lewis Hall kept him relatively quiet when the beat was 2-0.
00:38:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
He was arguably, well, he was not arguably, he was 100% less effective against Tino Levermento. So I do want to give Tino a shout out, give him his props because I'm always really negative on him.
00:38:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I was wrong. He's class at left back. And as you say, everyone's favourite £40 million signing, Joe Linton.
00:38:17
Iain
Bye-bye.
00:38:18
Kev
um so my Yeah, he was unbelievable. He was unbelievable. dinner Do you know how many shots on target Liverpool had all game?
00:38:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Probably one.
00:38:28
Kev
Two. we yeah you know ah We didn't have these on target.
00:38:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
Other goal, yeah.
00:38:31
Kev
We had 17 shots in the entire game because the stats came up at the end of the game on the thing where they were congratulations, Newcastle United. Carabao Cup winners, that was nice to see. you But then the stats came up and I was like,
00:38:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:38:45
Kev
Liverpool only had two shots on target in a final. That's insane.
00:38:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:38:49
Kev
And we had 17 shots altogether. I can't remember how many were on target. I think was seven or six or something. But, like, what a performance. Honestly, to get it right on a big occasion for Newcastle United, who have disappointed so many times at Wembley in the past and not showed up for for huge finals and games.
00:39:04
Kev
I mean, just everybody on the pitch had, like... that day yesterday. i don't know what day it is. Every day is rolling to one of my tired. But every single player on that pitch, Pope, Trippier, Shah, Byrne, Tino, Tonali, Bruno, Joe Linton, Murphy, Barnes, Isaac, Wilson, Willick, holy hell, I can't remember who else came on, Kraft.
00:39:28
Kev
Everybody genuinely deserves everything they ever want ever in life. Give them all a new contract.
00:39:36
Iain
Craig Hope on his post-match podcast he always awards three stars two stars and one star he gave the whole team three stars get off the fence Craig come on who do you think was the best no no I know what he know what he meant know what he meant
00:39:45
Kev
yeah
00:39:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm not surprised.
00:39:47
Kev
yep
00:39:51
Kev
yeah
00:39:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
You want to get that here.
00:39:53
Kev
Give Eddie give edie five stars. Eddie five stars. What a man.

Euphoric Conclusion to the Podcast

00:39:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's arguably the greatest defensive performance I've ever seen from a Newcastle side because that Liverpool side is good. They are very good. They're winning in the title by, I think it's 15 points at the minute for a reason.
00:40:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
But on that day, they just weren't as good as Newcastle United.
00:40:14
Iain
Never got a sniff.
00:40:17
Iain
15 minutes to go, Mo Salah had had three touches in the second half.
00:40:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
on that,
00:40:22
Kev
um
00:40:22
Iain
Not touches in the box. Three touches.
00:40:26
Kev
This club's amazing. What club.
00:40:27
Iain
Bonkers, it?
00:40:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
was one of them kicking off.
00:40:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, that's been us, and that is all for the Daily Newcastle podcast. We could probably talk for another hour on how fantastic we were, and honestly, how the feeling of winning the Carabao Cup, it's not going to get better.
00:40:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
And ah you know what? I don't have to end it with anything else. Kev's lifting up the scarf. We love you. We love the tune. We'll see you next time.
