Opening Scene: The Barrel of Meat

00:00:01
Speaker
It's a barrel full of meat. That's rather disappointing for me.

Introduction to The Fellowship of the Tabletop

00:00:37
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play 5e D&D podcast set in a magical, war-home-brewed world of Erith. My name is Mark, I am the Dungeon Master and also with us for the special small, slim-down episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop, I have Callum who plays the gnome-saucer of Folly Fizzlebang the Ninth. Hello.

Ian's Return and Sewer Exploration

00:00:57
Speaker
And returning.
00:01:00
Speaker
after a long hiatus away, where he's just sat in. He's sat in and listened. He hasn't even gone anywhere, really. We've got Ian, who plays the Dragonborn Barbarian, Drago. What up? We've got him back. Oh, it's so good to be back. I've missed that opening. I've missed all of this. I've missed this so much. So good to be back. It's good to have you back. More importantly, good to have Drago back as well. We're going to jump straight into it, guys. The last thing you will remember
00:01:30
Speaker
Folly, first of all, is you following these two members of the Chriska away from the stock magic entrance underneath the ground in the sewer system of Goldview within the Kingdom of Sleepguard. You were following them. They're just about to turn around.
00:01:46
Speaker
and you levitated yourself up so if they did turn around they wouldn't see you. They span around to see no one there and just as they started to turn back there was a glint in one of their eyes and all of a sudden this axe came thudding through the air, smacking into the face of one of the two members of the abciscra.
00:02:04
Speaker
killing him dead. The interesting thing then was that the axe pulled itself magically out of his head and moved back down the corridor behind you towards the stock magic door and into the hands of a smoldering dragonborn.
00:02:21
Speaker
as Drago returned to the plane of Aerith. You find yourself there in a moment of silence. There's a quiet dripping in the dark corridor that surrounds you. Drago releases some kind of almost eminent light. And the only other light save that is the light from the staff of the member of the abcriskra. It is quite dark. You can hear
00:02:47
Speaker
this inhalation of breath from Drago's end of the corridor, and you can hear the whimpers, if you want, of the short, small breaths of this member of the abcrisca as he moves his staff around trying to locate you with the light, and also the staff as a weapon, trying to locate the source of this axe that's just killed his companion. Who's there?
00:03:17
Speaker
Hello? Drop. I'm going to cast Command. Can you make a wisdom saving throw? 14. Oh, Drago has spells. Folliger, enjoy this now. He fails. The target drops whatever it is holding and ends its turn.

Interrogation and Chriska's Intentions

00:03:43
Speaker
You see the light, the only thing that really shows light drag go from down that corridor to the floor, but it's shining up and you get this uplift face of a half elf with terror in his eyes as he looks down the corridor still confused, trying to locate the source of the voice and the command which has forced him to drop his staff. Who's there? What do you want with me? Why are you here?
00:04:13
Speaker
I'm looking for a gnome. A short fellow. By the name of Folly. I was commanded to find him. We watched him, we followed him come down here. And that's who I was looking for. Who are you? Who commanded you? The leader of the of Chriska, Dunlond Trace. Does he know that everyone is here?
00:04:41
Speaker
Who's everyone? Who do you mean? That's all I need to know. You can run, or you can try and fight. There's a moment of silence as he contemplates his two options. And he stands there, fingers twitching, toes twitching, trying to decide fight or flight. Your soul.
00:05:11
Speaker
hangs in the very balance i'm gonna roll a d6 odds he stays evens he runs he looks down the corridor his eyes adjusting now more to the light and sees the outline the silhouette of the dragonborn standing in front of the stock magic entrance his eyes also trace up and sees a floating gnome above head about 15 feet in front of him
00:05:39
Speaker
He very slowly starts to bow his head, almost a reverent bow, lowering it lower and lower. And just as you think he's reached for pronation, he's going to stand up, his hands dart down, he grabs the base of his staff and he turns and he is going to try and run away. Anything you would like to do, either of you? No, he's running, that's fine with me.
00:06:07
Speaker
I think Folly's still a little bit awestruck in the return of Drago. He's going to let wish be done. If he wants to run, he'll let him. OK. And you hear these footsteps splashing through the water.
00:06:23
Speaker
further away. He crashes into the wall at some point and you hear the whack of his staff against the wall as he turns, scrapes down and you hear his steps continue on down until you assume, Folly, he reaches the steps and exits the bowels of the city of Goldview and enters back onto the streets with the gate now wrenched off after Claude did a number on it. Silence again returns to the sewer, the abandoned sewer of Goldview.
00:06:52
Speaker
Folly, you're still floating. Folly, you're around here. Drago is looking around, up and down. As I'm around Drago, Folly is having a bit of fun. He's going to try and use the echoing just to make it sound like his voice is going through the chambers entirely, until he can lay eyes on Drago properly, because Folly would still be very apprehensive at this point until he's seen Drago in the flesh, whether it is Drago or not.
00:07:22
Speaker
Okay, and as you do that, you do spin around and off in the distance, probably about 30, 35 feet away from you as you made your way following the Upcrisco. You can still see the silhouette.
00:07:32
Speaker
of a dragonborn, but now that the light of the staff has faded, as a member of the of Kris Kress left, your dark vision kicks in and you can make out features. You can see the scars, the stature, and the way that this dragonborn holds himself, you would assume this to be Drago. One major difference, he still has his sword across his back, but one major difference is he now wields and no longer carries this act.
00:08:05
Speaker
Okay. Folly is probably going to, after seeing the familiar marks of Drago upon his body, he's going to slowly lure himself down. Just look up to Drago. Where the hell have you been? It's a long story. Where is everyone? Around the town.
00:08:32
Speaker
They're all often doing what they believe is best at this time. We're a bit shocked you left that morning, Drago. I would admit, I thought Claude was lying when he said you'd already gone to the town ahead of us, but yet here you are. Drago's looking around as if taking in what you're saying, but also studying the environment
00:08:59
Speaker
There was two of them following you. Are you aware if there is anyone else? No, no, I'm afraid not. Just the two that I know of, and the one that's still lying on the floor. I think more will be coming our way. Perhaps we should move. Where were you going to?

Navigating the Sewers: Discoveries and Dangers

00:09:18
Speaker
Well, I got told I had to try and prove myself in order to get access to a
00:09:24
Speaker
stock magic emporium, but I don't think that's probably the best thing to do at this time. Always proving yourself. It's good to see you again, old friend. Jago, it's surprisingly delightful to see you too. I will fill you in. I'm not entirely the same. I look forward to hearing it, but I do believe you're right.
00:09:53
Speaker
the one that got away. We can't be certain that he would bring other people down here in order to try and hunt or gain access to stock magic. I believe it best if we leave rather quickly. I have no idea where we are, so I'm gonna follow your way. Do you know what town you're in? What city? I can't even be sure what time I'm in right now.
00:10:22
Speaker
Okay. Let me give you a little bit of a catch up. You're basically in gold view, the town that we was headed to after we descended upon the mountains. Do you remember that? Yeah. What was the last thing you remember? Drago's brow creases, as he's lost in thought for a moment,
00:10:56
Speaker
Maybe we should talk where... well, where I can see my surroundings a bit better. And where your enemies who are trying to find you don't come to your last known location. Indeed, a fair point. How will you be navigating through the Star Consumer? Following you. Indeed, following me.
00:11:27
Speaker
Follow, follow, you know what it's like. Yes, I know what you're like. Good joke. You are very different. Anyways, come on, let's, um, let's leave. Um, I feel uncomfortable going the same way that, uh, last of Priska Philo did, but I don't believe I saw any other way on the way down, but, um, we'll have to have a look, see what we can find. Please come with me.
00:11:57
Speaker
And Folly is basically going to stick quite close to Drago by always having him slightly in high view with his dark vision and just slowly at a comfortable pace following the same route back out. Okay, Drago could you give me a perception check please?
00:12:14
Speaker
First roll back, ah, it's an 11. Okay, with that 11, you managed to use your arm, your free hand to follow along the wall. You can hear the footsteps of Folly in front of you and you are able to follow him along. Folly, you did not notice because, well, you did notice because you noticed something else. You noticed a stop magic symbol on your way through the third of which you'd noticed.
00:12:39
Speaker
on your journey through, which had distracted you from seeing a small entrance off to the right when you were entering. So as you continue to make your way out, you do notice further down there actually is a possible left turn. Could you both please make perception checks for me, please? Yes, I can. First thing I've done so far this session, woohoo!
00:13:07
Speaker
Okay, Folly got a natural one. Fantastic. Drago? I got a nine. Okay. That's, I mean, it's enough. This is two quite noticeable things. Two things happened that you notice that Folly you did not notice on your way in.
00:13:23
Speaker
Firstly, Folly, you notice, down that corridor to your left, a very, very, no, Folly, you don't, sorry. Drago, follow you to see fucking nothing. Drago, because of your blindness in the dark, you notice this tiny flicker of light coming from down that corridor. You also hear, and Drago, this is primarily for you, a strangely, now, don't take this the wrong way, a strangely familiar growl.
00:13:52
Speaker
that sounds, it's a low rumble that feels like one of your kind as a dragonborn. Folly, I'm getting the sense that we're not alone down here. Be on your guard.
00:14:17
Speaker
And Drago is going to just put his snout up into the air and take a deep inhale to try and catch any scent. Okay. Do you want to give me another perception check or survival? It's up to you. We'll go survival. Fair. 16. You can smell food.
00:14:43
Speaker
But you smell food that's more akin to the food of your ancestors more than food that you would eat now, if that makes sense. Kind of old school food. I'm not really sure a good way of putting this.
00:14:57
Speaker
but kind of like the same way that you'd expect to smell like stewed venison in your grandma's house. I get it. It's like, yeah, there's something comforting, but not like appealing, but not necessarily your family, but more blood. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Something that Dragonborn's a well-known cooking around the campfire type thing. Um, after a good old day of killing, I think that there might be another Dragonborn
00:15:28
Speaker
Around here. Another Dragonborn, really? I could be wrong, but either way, you need to be on your guard. As a Dragonborn yourself there, Drago, do you think it's wise to have, definitely for you, I can manage, but do you think it's wise to have some light? Would you prefer some light? It'll make it a little easier target, but
00:15:58
Speaker
It will certainly help you see. Listen, you are down here. I can see in the dark. I'm fine. I'll just follow you. OK, well, hang on to it. Either way, it's coming from that direction, as Jago points to where.
00:16:18
Speaker
he saw the light or the scent. Smelt the scent. Well, in all fairness, Edrago, if they were to also lead out, it could be worth a quick glance. I don't particularly like following the route that the other Obkriska member could have gone because, well, there could be a rather nasty ambush waiting for us. That was a member of the Obkriska.
00:16:44
Speaker
Yes, I'm afraid so. I thought you knew. That's why you killed one of them. Were you still just back to killing random people? I've just appeared from a different plane of existence, and I'm aware that someone was hunting you. I did it to protect you. I didn't know that... I know that name of Kriskra.
00:17:10
Speaker
My head's a bit fuzzy. Do you want me to walk ahead? Yeah, no, it's fine, John. It's fine. Just stick close behind me. Let's go down here. I think we'll be rather better off with this route. Could be potentially safe. As you turn the corner left and start making your way down this new pathway, it does kind of like an S shape, moving itself further, further down. There's the same kind of stone that you've previously seen, that kind of almost
00:17:41
Speaker
Roman-esque style stone, light-colored stone that forms this natural archway. You go the water you're walking in, it's about an inch thick and it's slow moving and you can see off to each side these kind of inlets of small trickles of water. You get the very obvious sense this is some kind of sewer system and you get some kind of sewer system that isn't used now. This is mainly rainwater that's coming off, there's no particular smell to the water you're in.
00:18:07
Speaker
the pathway does indeed snake down and ends in a bit of a crossroads you have a choice of two directions as you make your way down still silence there is a path to your right and a path to your left as you head south to your left you can see so to the east you can see built into the wall a small
00:18:33
Speaker
lantern that is lit. And there is a light emanating from it, which is probably Drago, the light that you saw from the previous tunnel. Looks like we had a bit of a crossword there, Drago. Left or right, you seem to have decent hunting skills and follow your nose and your ears and whatnot. Fair enough. Let's go towards the light. And Drago just increases the grip on his axe.
00:19:02
Speaker
Okay, and as you take that corner, you start heading down towards the east with folly, drago in tow. The path continues east for some time. As you step through the cold water,
00:19:22
Speaker
you can hear this continual dripping sound and there is another torch further up on the left hand side again, built into the wall in a gap, almost a gap fully similar to the gap that you stayed in, you stood in trying to hide from the members of the abcriskra earlier as it takes a bend down towards the south and turning again towards the west.
00:19:51
Speaker
it then takes a slight turn north and there's yet another two lanterns up on this path always on the left as you continue to walk down and suddenly as you get to that last turn turning sharp bank off to the left you see something in front of you that seems out of place with
00:20:10
Speaker
what you've seen up to this point. You see the room start to open up into a larger room and you can see up now probably 40, 50, 60 feet into a huge dome like room with very small shafts of light coming through from the streets above probably.
00:20:28
Speaker
You can also see this dome is still built from the same sand brickwork of the rest of the tunnel that you've seen. But what's also odd is that in front of you is a series of crates stacked up, a series of barrels and supplies all boxed up, all secure.
00:20:49
Speaker
You know this is a very large room, you can see from the walls, but in front of you is almost a small enclosed area with boxes to your west and to your south, and then a series of large oak barrels to your east, with a small passageway through to the west

Confrontation and Combat with the Chriska

00:21:07
Speaker
that would get you through the sets of crates. Is this what you're looking for? No, no, no, no, not at all. I found what I was looking for. I found the entrance to the magicarium, but this looks more like a stock room.
00:21:20
Speaker
Very interesting. Follows are going to see if you can actually lift open any of the bowel lids or crates or anything like that and just try and take a sneak peek at what's actually inside.
00:21:34
Speaker
Okay, do you want to give me a... Most of them are sealed and they're sealed shut. You could force them open if you want with a strength check or you could give me a slight of hand if you wanted to play it quiet. Definitely slight of hand. Follows a lot of strength so he can go more for brains and try and... He's not even trying to take anything out. He wants to get his eyes locked inside and just see what's maybe inside there. No problem. Give me a slight of hand check please.
00:21:59
Speaker
And this is very reversed to what I rolled before. I got a natural 20. So I got 23 on this one. You definitely managed to jam the bottom part of your stuff in and wiggle it along the top rift line of a wooden crate. And you kind of hinge it up and the lid very quietly, silently opens.
00:22:22
Speaker
As you peer inside, you see a collection of meats, of cured meats. These are all kind of packaged linen, packaged up. And suddenly Drago, you notice when that lid gets lifted, the waft, the smell of food that you previously smelled, kind of hits you in the face. This is one of the sources of that smell that you could smell earlier.
00:22:45
Speaker
It's meat, Draggy. There's an abundance of meat in this barrel. It's a barrel full of meat. That's rather disappointing for me. What have you got yourself into, Folly? Why are you here? As I said, well, these days seem to have taken quite a bizarre turn.
00:23:08
Speaker
I often expected to go down, go to the stock magic emporium, try and speak to a couple of people, see if I could brush up on my skills, and head back to the Double Ork pub for a nice quick pint. Now all of a sudden you've been here, I could remember the first day I went down this weird side alley, and I found a room full of barrels and crates of meat. It's certainly an interesting day, but... Well, there we go. It's always exciting when you're around. Let's play that. Is this supplies for your stock magic, folk?
00:23:35
Speaker
No, no, I don't have any stock magic that actually involves meat. Did you say you may have heard a dragonborn? One of my kind, yes. And the scent from these barrels is what they're using to live off. So it's their supplies. I'm just unsure. Tell me, did this...
00:24:01
Speaker
smell. Did it, I suppose, appeal to you in a particular fashion? Rather than just somebody hanging, you'd say a leg of meat. Was there something that... Folly, you've just opened a barrel of food. Yes, it does appeal to me. See, I can smell it, but it just seems to appeal to me. I have a theory, but... No, dragonborns don't have a particular
00:24:31
Speaker
meat like dog food or cat food if you're trying to think this is dragonborn food we just eat food honestly i was thinking possibly more bait to try and catch something maybe something rather large because a lot of meat would say this is a supply room i wouldn't say this is just bait
00:25:00
Speaker
You do have interesting kinds. Come on, let's persevere. At the very least, I like our odds history rather than going back and finding ourselves head-to-head with a bundle of a CRISCO enemies. They are enemies. Yes, they are. Well done. Well, remember, Trago. Is there another exit out of here just to the left?
00:25:29
Speaker
Yes, just to the left, between the crates, there's about a five foot gap you can pass yourself through. It seems to have been a purposefully made walkway through this abundance of crates, which you can assume will contain the same thing, meat. And as you approach that directly in front of you, about 40 feet away from you, you can see more barrels and a slightly larger open area. And the space seems to open up slightly to the north, where you can see the wall, the same wall that you kind of walked through to get to.
00:25:59
Speaker
And are you stepping out into the area between that? Yeah, yeah, Folly's gonna start making his way through the crazed mate. As you make your way there, the south, the larger portion of the room, as you would kind of see it, opens up and suddenly you realise that this isn't just a storeroom after all, this is an area, there is almost like living quarters here.
00:26:26
Speaker
Firstly, what you see directly in front of you, as I said, is a very large supply of probably 20 to 25 barrels. You can assume carrying some kind of liquid. These are large barrels, probably eight or nine feet in size each.
00:26:42
Speaker
The room is probably an additional 50 foot in length and in the very centre of this room is a large 15 foot by 50 foot table with a series of chairs placed around it. These are quite well looked after chairs and there is an abundance of paper that has been strewn over the table with an ink pot and other writing material on it as well.
00:27:03
Speaker
To the west, you can see a number of bookshelves with a number of books upon it, surprisingly. And further south, you can see a chessboard with two plush red velvet chairs, a small fireplace that's been built into the wall, an abundance of wood, and a small chest next to it. You can see the beginnings of some kind of long table to the very, very south, but it's out of view from your current location.
00:27:27
Speaker
stood over the table, sorry, stood over the chessboard right to the very south and probably about 50 or 60 feet away from me at this point, so you're probably safe out of view. He's got his back to you. You see the
00:27:44
Speaker
now familiar blue velvet clothes with gold trim of another member of the abciscra he doesn't seem to have noticed you at this point as you haven't been particularly loud and you are about 50 or 60 feet away the room is well lit there is an abundance of plinths with torches around the edges and the shafts of white light beaming in through the city above light the space adequately for you to see the distance
00:28:15
Speaker
What would you like to do? Draggo. Crouch is down next to Folly. There's another one of those robe guys. Folly just still stood up at this point and not even bothering to hide and such because he's really small but he is obviously treading carefully so yes I see. But I only see one but what is this place? Why are they down here? They've got an entire building up top.
00:28:43
Speaker
Do you think this isn't a Begrisca camp? Possibly. Maybe even for the dark side of the Begrisca. Dark side? Well, we all know that there's the side that I believe the general population see, which they don't hide about themselves and the majority look down on anyway. But perhaps there's something more insidious about the Begrisca than what we may believe.
00:29:14
Speaker
I mean, we could go and ask him. Well, I'd be rather intrigued there, Drago. Do you think you could convince him to, I don't know, talk? Oh, yeah, sure. Hey, you. Oh, Lord.
00:29:35
Speaker
As you shout Strago into this large room, your voice echoes around the room. The figure pauses what it's doing and you see the head kind of rise before slowly turning around and you see a human face of a woman. She turns around, looks directly at you. She steps through away from the board slightly and into the open space directly opposite you, but probably about
00:30:05
Speaker
Yeah, about 60 feet away. She looks directly at you both. And what are you both doing here? Honestly, I'm not sure. But what are you doing here? Can you both make perception checks, please? 15. My perception sucks so much ass, three. OK, thank you. She takes a step forward.
00:30:33
Speaker
The question isn't what I'm doing here. The question should definitely be what you are doing here. You're not supposed to be here. No one is supposed to be here. Then why are you here? That's none of your business, Noam. I suggest you leave now.
00:30:52
Speaker
I don't have another place to be right now. So, um, no. And yes, I'm, I'm afraid my curiosity is getting better at me and I don't think I'll be going anywhere either. And as Folly is talking, he'd taken a few steps closer and closer towards this person. She takes a step forward towards you, Folly. I cannot say this heavily enough.
00:31:22
Speaker
You should leave here, now. She stares at deep into you. Into me or into Drago? Into you, Folly. Okay. Folly's going to meet her stare with as much, like, dark heartedness as he can muster. He's a gnome, he still looks
00:31:47
Speaker
relatively unthreatening, but he is not backing down at this point, and still with a few more steps towards her, he'd just say, I don't believe that I shall be going anywhere. And with that, she nods her head knowingly at you, and then raises her voice, followed now! And, can I please ask you to roll initiative? Oh shit!
00:32:16
Speaker
I know. Hell yeah, you can. I killed a soul. Jago's back. Okay. Did anyone get 20 plus? I got 23. I did not. Did anyone get... Well, what did you get, Folly? There's not many of us. I can just ask you. I got an 18.
00:32:43
Speaker
That is very reasonable. That I'd put you near the top for most. Yes, it will do, but obviously not the top when you compare myself to Drago. Good point. He hasn't been in for a while, so we'll give him this one, Raul. Yeah, I'll let him have it. You hear Drago, you hear this member of the Ecrisca person in front of you, shout out something followed now.
00:33:07
Speaker
But you almost already knew this was happening. And before she'd even spoken, you'd basically already made up your mind about what you were going to do. So the minute her voice comes into play, you're already in full action mode. You are ready to go. You're in full combat mode. Top of the round, what would you like to do? So I've got my axe purposely not saying the name in my hand.
00:33:33
Speaker
Ah, hang on. This is where I need to just check. I've got to make you think in combat now, Ian. Yeah. I'm sure he's taught you how to use it well. Not really. Okay, cool. So as she's, I assume, calling for backup, Drago will
00:33:57
Speaker
Are these steps that I see on this map accurate to five foot? Yes, they are five feet. They don't snap you to the position because I couldn't figure that out but yeah just move every square is five feet. That's amazing. So Drago will move to the point in front of Folly as if to make himself the
00:34:15
Speaker
in a similar way to shield him because he's using his body to get in the way of Folly to absorb any damage that might come away, obviously, because he's first initiative, you probably guessed that some ship was going down. And as he steps beyond Folly, almost like a tomahawk, because of his height and strength, he takes his axe

Post-Battle Discoveries and Dragon Plans

00:34:37
Speaker
and he throws it from his shoulder straight towards her.
00:34:43
Speaker
So, yeah, let's see if that hits, shall we? First time. Okay, let's roll two hits. Come on, Drago. Stick with the sword, Drago. It's a 13. As the axe comes flying, that game has probably just come up on roll 20.
00:35:05
Speaker
As the axe comes out to water, she can see it coming around the chairs and Drago, you're still a little hazy from the endeavors that you've been on for. Well, you don't know how long you've been on it. So the axe doesn't quite hit its right kind of stride. You're still getting used to this weapon anyway. And also the imbued nature of it is almost trying to, you're not in line with it. There's two forces at work here, you and the axe, and they're both not quite there yet. And the axe takes a bit of a jaunty angle and she manages to duck out the way as it swings back round
00:35:35
Speaker
Oh no, does it swing back round or does it just reappear? It just returns to me. I like to think it swings back round. Let's do that, that's more fun, yeah. And it does, it swings back round, knocking Tish into two of the crates to her east or to her right hand side, knocking the meat stacks flying as the axe returns to her hand after a missed hit. Anything else you want to do, Drago?
00:36:00
Speaker
It's no. Fantastic. Thank you very much. As you stepped forward, you noticed a figure hiding behind some some crates to the east, to your left. And there's also like a passageway behind this person as well. You can see the wide open eyes of an old man, again, wearing a crisp clothing, slightly more royal with a red kind of badge on his on his breast. He sees what's happening and he is going to attack
00:36:34
Speaker
He is going to firstly cast magic missile directly at you drago. This doesn't have a save as you probably remember from the last combat with the upper kriscra.
00:36:55
Speaker
You take 11 points of force damage as these four needles come hitting into the side of your body, kind of down your midsection on your side, almost you weren't expecting someone from that angle once you take that damage. And he's just going to turn and say to you, you fools, leave now!
00:37:17
Speaker
And that's his turn. Folly, you've just seen these red needles sticking to the side of Drago, who stood on your right, but the needles have come from your left. What would you like to do? Folly, probably almost instinctively, he's just going to quick whip with his hand and let the
00:37:35
Speaker
cow drops fall on the floor because he's only got 10 left now. I realised like two episodes again, he left 10 behind during a battle. He did. He did not pick them up, so I've only got 10. Oops. But there we go. And he's getting to a blacksmith.
00:37:51
Speaker
Yeah, don't judge us. And he's going to cast Animate Objects on these cow drops that he's chucked on the floor. And as they kind of wiggle and start to jolt into life, they start, again, I assume flying above and around you like they normally do, Folly, is that right? Yep, absolutely. Folly just likes the idea of them all circling around. It's like they're always ready at any moment to block or attack or anything like that. And what Folly is also going to do
00:38:19
Speaker
No, I can't do that because I can't do two spells in one turn. Never mind. No problem. The person who's currently ahead of you, the woman who is a member of the Ecriska, who has been telling you to leave to begin with, she's going to see what you're doing, Folly, and she's going to launch Ray of Frost against you. Oh, dear. That's a 16 against your armor class. That most certainly does hit. Okie dokie.
00:38:53
Speaker
What? You take two points of cold damage and your speed is reduced by 10 feet. Yeah, I rolled like really low. I was already in double digit for that kind of damage. I've gutted about that. So as that is glancing off your shoulder fully, she assumes you're taller probably. As that takes place, she's going to look a bit annoyed at that and she's going to tuck herself behind
00:39:22
Speaker
the crates, Drago, that your axe had smashed into, but giving her a little bit of cover and protection from you for now. And she's not going to say anything else. Drago, it's now your turn, top of the round. What would you like to do? So Drago walks towards that female, Obciska, just hid, as you just said, and he can reach there in 40 feet.
00:39:47
Speaker
with his axe. He's just going to bring it down from his shoulder, not throw it this time and hit with a standard melee attack. Okay, roll to hit. We're going to go for it. Come on.
00:39:59
Speaker
Nope. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
00:40:26
Speaker
That's better. There we go. 27 to hit. That's definitely 13 points of slashing damage and 10 points of lightning damage as the axe cuts through. As his axe comes thudding down, she brings her hands up and her staff up to kind of protect her face. And the staff manages to take the brunt of the blow, snapping her staff into
00:40:48
Speaker
And cutting down her kind of clavicle and down her right shoulder, causing her shoulder wound to kind of open up is this powerful potent electric damage courses through her body as she convulses slightly. She is still conscious and still aware and still upright. Anything else you want to do, Drago? You'll just look at her. What are you doing here? That's the end of his go. Okay.
00:41:11
Speaker
This person who's hiding behind the crates nearest to Folly is going to step forward out of the area between Drago and Folly and he's going to shout out, Taran, run! And then he's going to turn to Folly and he's going to cast
00:41:29
Speaker
phantasmal killer as this light small blue beam of light leaves his staff and heads directly towards entering into your eye um folly could you make a wisdom saving throw please i have advantage on wisdom saving throws against magic so let's see how this goes and that's a good thing because the first one was just a six
00:41:58
Speaker
Okay, that's fine. You managed to as you see this coming.
00:42:04
Speaker
bring up your own stuff and mutter under your breath a quick incantation that resolutely defines your mental state and you actually see your own small beam of blue light just knock it out of the way as it kind of flies off into the distance somewhere. He looks now confused and he looks worried at the situation that's taking place now. That's the end of his turn. Folly, your turn. You've just tried to be blue beamed in the eye. Yep, Folly is angry. You people are nothing but pests.
00:42:34
Speaker
and he's going to first start out with his bonus action and just start flinging all these cow drops at this poor elderly man that's just trying to blue beam him. Okay, yeah, roll to hit. I just have to double check. Are you happy I've given you an enemy that might take your damage? Might take my damage. What, do you remember it's non-magical?
00:43:01
Speaker
Do you remember we had issues with a bunch of bad guys that were immune to non-magical slashing damage? Well, yes, we did. We'll see. We'll see. Well, including modifiers, that's 23 to hit. That does hit. I have to click your, like, 8000 D8s. The default. They are just defaults.
00:43:33
Speaker
That's all, a lot of twos. It's been a while. What's he using as a program to roll this? I use D&D Beyond. He uses, I'll keep rolling until I get what I want, dot com. Sorcerypoints.com. 64 points of piercing damage.
00:43:55
Speaker
These caltrops come ripping through, and when he sees them coming, the staff lowers as these caltrops come ripping across his body, ripping first through his clothes, similarly to what they did to Elthir back on the mountain and the Skirrode Mountains. And he resolutely takes it, he doesn't scream out like Elthir does, and his eyes start to sink down as one particular caltrope.
00:44:16
Speaker
flies around him and then cuts back across his neck cutting his neck open as the arteries split blood pores from his throat he falls to his knees clutching at his throat but quietly quietly dies on the floor in front of you falling yeah well that was no fun wow okay um anything else you want to do yeah i've still got me action because that's just a bonus action to do that
00:44:47
Speaker
um folly i think is going to walk uh down a little bit um towards where drago and this other lady is fighting i didn't think that would be over so quickly it's easy killing old men
00:45:14
Speaker
It's a folly special to killing anybody pocket if I made if I made it that your caltrops never worked on another enemy again Just because we're level 12 or whatever we are That you know that that hold that whole thing of folly is gone. So I've got to give you some every now and then Appreciate it. Definitely appreciate it For reaction then screw it. I was gonna cast firebolt on the lady that keeps telling us to leave Okay, I wrote it
00:45:39
Speaker
From that current location, you will have to roll with disadvantage because she is in cover. Wait a second, wait a second. I'd normally say something like that and then Will would go, actually, no, that's wrong. It's actually this. So that's why I normally make up the rules. Let me just quickly check that. It's half cover, so roll it normally and I get a plus two bonus to AC. Oh, right. Okay. Well, I rolled a 15.
00:46:11
Speaker
The firebolt would hit, but actually singes some of the meat stacks that are on top just off right near her head, but just unfortunately doesn't quite get to her. Lighting a fire to a little bit, singeing one of the crates that's nearby. That's the end of your turn, Folly. She is going to turn to you, bleeding from the shoulder and just say, what have we done?
00:46:41
Speaker
And she's going to turn and she's going to run. You get an attack of opportunity, Drago. Conflicted. Drago's not going to take it confused as to why all of a sudden she just looked up, asked what have we done and then turned hail and fled. Okay. She is going to make the 30 feet.
00:47:08
Speaker
And as you look up Drago and look further south and further east, but where the crates kind of, and this massive area now filled with crates piled quite high, 20, 30 feet high, you can see a series of steps going up to a grate with lots of sunlight beaming through it. And she's running towards that, probably a series of about 20 feet's worth of stairs. She's probably about 15, 20 feet away from the grate. And that's the end of her turn. She can't do anything else. Drago, it is your turn. Anything you want to do?
00:47:37
Speaker
Drago's still confused. He doesn't really know where he is. So he's going to let her go and just turn back towards Folly. We're still in initiative order. So turns back towards Folly and she might be the last of them.
00:47:59
Speaker
Okay, the next person would be is now dead on the floor. Folly, you can see Drago turn to you. You've said that. And this member of the Chriska seems to be turning tail and running towards a series of stairs and freedom. What would you like to do? Folly's just going to come level with Drago. We've seen that Drago has purposely kind of stopped, let her go. She's running in fear. But Folly's trying to make a slight point here.
00:48:27
Speaker
And he's just going to yell at her. Yes, that's right. You tell your up-crisker friends, Folly is coming for them next. And he is just going to let her run away. And she reaches the stairs. She does look back when you say that. She reaches the stairs. She pushes the grace up, closing it behind her. And then you just hear footsteps and her shadow disappears. And there is a silence that hangs over the space once more.
00:48:58
Speaker
We're out of initiative order, and the room is kind of yours.

Encounter with Dis-Krath: The Truth Unveiled

00:49:02
Speaker
Is there anything you want to do while you're here? Folly, I think, is going to look at Drago for a brief moment. I think you've gotten soft there, Drago. That's the second of Chris, the person you let go. I don't know why, but there we go. I'm still trusting your judgment.
00:49:23
Speaker
considering my judgment was to save you. Yeah, I'd keep trusting. Fair point. I'm not entirely sure where I am.
00:49:34
Speaker
Yeah, yes, we'll get you to a tavern soon and try and reunite you with the rest of them, I think. But just give me a moment, William. Father's going to go over to the square desk that has already gone past once, the one that's got a load of papers scattered over it. And he's basically going to start looking and reading at these papers. Just see if there's any clues as to
00:49:56
Speaker
what this is or what the Uprisk are up to down here or anything like that. He's going to go through the bookcases and just see if he's desperately trying to find something to explain what the hell is going off.
00:50:09
Speaker
You take some time at this and you're working through the papers, you notice a number of letters that are interesting. What you notice that's interesting in particular is that none of these seem to be finished. A lot of these seem to be drafts, early drafts and incomplete drafts that have been discarded and kept to the side. You can see that they've been meticulously gone through and important bits of these documents have either been removed or scribbled out or it's all very drafty.
00:50:36
Speaker
But you notice three letters and you come across these in succession, I'll read them out to you, that you find particularly interesting. And I've just for you both, I've shared the Google Docs link in the chat for you to read through in your own time again if you want to. The first letter you come across, it's done in a very nice cursive handwriting. All three of these letters are
00:50:59
Speaker
Sections of it have been crossed out, and then other kind of inlets have been written, and obviously this was one early draft letter. It reads, Delmonde, I thank you for our first shipment of eggs, and I'm glad to hear they come from such great stock. Those that dwell upon the spine of the world really are the most intelligent and most athletic of their kind. Our operation, as previously stated, will be nondescript and discreet, as your tender made clear.
00:51:28
Speaker
We will also be looking to introduce a potent ingredient into their diet to speed up the early fledgling years to increase our adult turnaround into a matter of months. Of course, this comes with risks, but given the urgency, it will be worth it. We have procured enough of the maturing material from, and the next bit is crossed out.
00:51:50
Speaker
the less honorable members of the stock magic circles, that's a bit crossed out and replaced with a trustworthy and equitable source from Moonrise.
00:51:59
Speaker
The rest is written as normal. The shipments have been cleared as Mashisu Rum through Green Barrel's ports and will continue to arrive throughout the coming months and distributed to all the centers that require it. Storage will not be an issue. Green Barrel has given over space and our nursery for the fledglings has ample room also. I will continue to feed back all necessary information regarding the Mashisu question and its tender. And you can see some notes underneath saying rewrite make changes.
00:52:30
Speaker
The next note is very different. The writing is even neater. The writing is more careful, and there's less mistakes, but it is unfinished. There's no end to it. It reads, dearest Selina. Sorry, I should preface that. It's the same handwriting, so you can assume it's the same person. Dearest Selina, this course is folly. The fledglings continue to die.
00:52:59
Speaker
These conditions, underground, dark, cold, cramp, are not the environmental factors that these creatures should be living under. No wonder so many are limp, undersized, and losing their minds. Our most recent, Tra Leesh, bashed his own head into the wall until he bled to death. He used his own body to block the door, stopping us from administering a sedative. Yet more eggs arrive and more attempts made. I shouldn't be writing this.
00:53:28
Speaker
I shouldn't be telling you. Yet there is so much I must share. This tender, to raise them from fleddlings into full adults, is, under the complete control of their handler, seems so at odds with their very nature. I worry, my love. I worry for the balance of order within their minds of these beasts. There is yet so much we do not know about them, and yet we are attempting to control their minds. No, their very souls. If the...
00:53:57
Speaker
and the letter is unfinished there. It can tell something's distracted them or they've stopped writing it all together. The last letter that you come across that has the most interest is the nicest piece of paper, but unfortunately has the most scrolls and scribbles over it. A massive section in the middle is just crossed out. It's just a big crossed out and he's just written underneath it, start again.
00:54:21
Speaker
I'll read out the kind of redacted version and then I'll read out the full version. So the redacted version reads like this. To Delmon Trace, leader and enforcer of the triumvirate and supreme head of the abciscra and all their holy works. It is with a heavy heart that I must tender unto you my resignation in post from Center 8 Goldview. In haste and all respect, Folland Jones.
00:54:48
Speaker
The unredacted version, it is with a heavy heart that I must tender unto you my resignation from post in center eight gold view. The experience and reward that this tender asked for does indeed make me an ideal candidate, but I can no longer bear to see these creatures subjected to the barbarous sets of controls and mental slavery. Those that survive are put through the most horrific internal controls to bring their naturally chaotic minds into line with that of the order. This is beyond natural.
00:55:18
Speaker
With my thanks and humble resignation, I also wish to pass on a warning. This will not end well. They are untamable. Their current passivity, willingness, and perceived docility will in time be seen as a shroud. Their intelligence is not to be trifled with, their memory long, their vengeance swift. The flame of a dragon has a memory that outlasts mortal time. Our actions will have implications.
00:55:46
Speaker
These implications, I fear, will be cataclysmic. In haste and all respect, Follum Jones.
00:55:55
Speaker
As to the other bits of paper you notice around, it seems very much the same him practicing his writing or spelling, or this seems to be a desk that this person, Follon Jones, used to hold his paperwork. What you also notice is that a lot of the bookshelves have started to have been emptied or important sections, books missing from areas. You notice looking around that there is no food, there is no water. You start to get a distinct feeling that this was a place that they were leaving. With that information, Follie, was there anything you'd like to do?
00:56:25
Speaker
Folly, reading this, has a very knowledgeable idea of what the Okrisco have attempted to do and Folly's basically going to go completely white with a sense of fear and a sense of disgust for this and he sees obviously a couple of other passage wage that
00:56:54
Speaker
he might assume could be other rooms that might be or at least observation points or something like that and obviously a little bit of haste he's just going to drop his quarter staff with kind of shock and awe and he just kind of wants to make his way in pure silence over to one of these little uh crevices and just see if he can see anything uh else down these hallways that are just branching off to the west of this underground area
00:57:24
Speaker
As you see Folly go this deathly white drop his staff, which you know he never really does, and make his way to the centre gap, is there anything you'd like to do? While Folly was reading all of that, which I assume you didn't read out loud. Folly would not have intentionally read it out loud, it would have been straight in the head's head.
00:57:44
Speaker
That's absolutely fine. Drago would have gone over to the chessboard by the fire as Folly was reading and would have checked the board itself, what kind of state the game was in. If there was one clear winner, if both kings were still standing and he would have just looked at the board
00:58:09
Speaker
What is the position of the kings? Are they both? Could you give me an intelligence check please? Just a straight intelligence check. Use your intelligence modifier.
00:58:22
Speaker
Oh, I wish that was better. Five. Fair enough. You see both kings standing. You see the one that black only is the only one with their queen. The game seems to be in its late stages. But aside from that, there's no clear winner.
00:58:43
Speaker
Drago would have just walked over to the table and saw that the black king had his queen and so would have just knocked over the white one as he walks past. It's just like life. God stand above.
00:59:05
Speaker
decide the fates of the others and then he would have turned and probably saw folly. Why is the ghost? And you see the staff drop and him make a beeline along the edge of this table past the bookshelves in the chest into this gap in the wall. Are you going to leave it let him let him go drago or
00:59:28
Speaker
Dragga would walk over to where Folly dropped his staff, pick it up, and then walk to follow Folly.
00:59:37
Speaker
in a calm manner. There's no, he's not rushing this or anything like that. He's just taking his whole environment in. So everything he does is worth some careful, some trepidation to him, as he's still trying to figure out everything.
00:59:58
Speaker
So yeah, he kneels down to pick up the staff and he walks slowly over to where Folly's going. Everything he's doing is measured. That's the best way to describe Drago throughout this whole entire thing from entering the alleyway. Everything is a measured movement. Lovely. So Folly, as you make a quick line now, staff list towards this gap, you notice there is a small etched
01:00:22
Speaker
a single passageway and then a door at the far end you notice in front of it a it's a it's a metal door it's a solid metal door with a metal latch stood at about human eye line you also notice the corridor goes left and right uh of all it follows just going to head straight for the center door uh the metal door and he's going to put his
01:00:49
Speaker
rucksack on the ground in front of it and just try and climb up it just to try and get into line of sight of the hatch so we can pull it open and just have a peek inside.
01:00:59
Speaker
Okay, as you stand on top of your rucksack, you can indeed reach the latch and get your eyes to it as well. As you first grab the latch and start to move it, it squeaks very, very loud. You pause. Now, you can try if you want a slight of hand to open this quietly, if you'd like. Considering what Folly thinks it is, Folly is going to do this extremely quiet if it squeaks. As Drago's watching Folly do this,
01:01:25
Speaker
and Folly won't see this because his attention is towards the door. Drago just softly pads over to behind you, still holding your staff. He's just gonna close his eyes, holding on to your staff. And Mark, can you tell me if there's any good or evil within 60 feet as I cast Divine Sense?
01:01:54
Speaker
casting that using my staff I like it so as an action you can detect good and evil until the end of your next turn you can sense anything affected by the hallow spell or know the location of any celestial fiend undead within 60 feet that is not behind total cover I like these abilities as you send this out
01:02:21
Speaker
The training that you remember, it all seems to come to you and you notice now what Claude always seems to notice as well. The hum in the air, the buzz that seems to surround you, the atmosphere that you can now perceive and through that
01:02:39
Speaker
Wait, you assume there would be blotches, almost like a opposite sonar. Well, just like a sonar, really. You would get almost like this sense of dread or trepidation if you were to have a ping. You get nothing back. There is an emptiness in the response. You can assume from that that you do not get a ping on anything.
01:03:01
Speaker
Drago's going to assume that, but it's with, he's unsure because it's the first ever time. He doesn't even know if he's done it correctly, but he knows that he's channeling something inside of him to ask whether or not he can sense anything outerworldly. The definition is divine sense. Drago has no fucking clue what that is, and he doesn't even know, but he knows that there's something
01:03:29
Speaker
within him that he can channel, and that's all he's trying to reach out to. But for the indeed purposes, I had to say a spell. Folly. Folly, what are you trying to do? Folly won't respond until he's looked into this hatch, which for slight of hand purposes, I rolled 19 plus three, so 22.
01:03:55
Speaker
As the first squeak takes place, you manage to use your other hand to brace the now rather rusted latch of this metal door and soften the squeak of it to silence. And as you peer in, two things happen first of all. Firstly, your head is kind of taken aback by the stench of rotting flesh, of decomposing flesh.
01:04:22
Speaker
And as your eyes adjust and kind of water slightly at the warmth of this almost, you look into a room. This room has no windows. This room has no other entrance aside from the one that you are stood in. It is made and comprised of the same stone that you've seen all the way through the space. And the floor, however, is scorched with black.
01:04:51
Speaker
You only notice the scorched blackness in and around the large skeleton and rotting and decaying corpse of what looks like a dragon in the very center of this room. You can see the skeletal arm, skeletal nature of its wings that have been tucked into its body. Its main chest and head are still rotting.
01:05:17
Speaker
This creature, for all intents and purposes, has been dead for some time. Folly, even without commenting that you've seen this, is basically going to turn around, look to Drago.
01:05:36
Speaker
By the way, his nostrils fled when he got the sense of, especially from a dragon, the rotting flesh. As you turn to Drago, his nostrils have fled as there's this look of disgust and sadness. He doesn't know why he's sad because he hasn't looked in there, but he can smell something and there's something within him that's the emotion across his face. There's a tinge of sadness. You probably never would have seen it before.
01:06:06
Speaker
Folly is just staring at you very blankly and he's just going to turn and say, take a look. Draggy steps forwards and walks into the room. The door is locked. You can force the door open if you want, but the latch is how Folly has been looking in. I'll do what Folly did and look through.
01:06:34
Speaker
And then Drago does look through almost with like a bulge in his throat. Folly is going to put his hand on Drago's shoulder so he can say, well, somewhere on Drago, maybe his arm or something like that. I don't think it as high as what Drago is like now. He's going to put his hand on Drago anyway. He knows like an affectionate kind of manner because this kind of
01:07:03
Speaker
cruelty to somebody who shares a similar species as yourself is very... I can't even describe it. You would have felt Drago's muscles immediately tense up when you touched him. He has not been touched for a long time. That's a foreign
01:07:27
Speaker
It's a very gentle kind of touch. And you'd notice as if like a muscle tensing up, you'd notice that all of a sudden. And even because he's looking at he knows it's a dragon. So his ice dragon, a part of him starting to flow a little bit in his veins. And as you touch him, it's not only cold from the ice that's going through his
01:07:54
Speaker
blood line and his veins, his muscles do noticeably tense at the touch.
01:08:25
Speaker
Well, not Sestle, he does just say it loud enough for dragon heads. They've been torturing dragons for their own purposes, their own selfish gains. This is just pure evil. Why?
01:08:55
Speaker
I don't know. Not yet. There's not enough in these letters that I've read to say as to why, but they seem to be infecting them with some kind of concoction, some of the lowlives of stock magic are using. This is just horrendous. It's completely, it's completely improper. It's barbaric.
01:09:26
Speaker
I'm sorry, Drago. This must be hard for you to take right now. And Drago has just stood there silently, muscles tensed. You do notice one other thing, Drago and Folly, you would have noticed this as well. The head of this creature, the way this creature is laid, its body is blocking the door and its head, the side of its skull is quite badly crushed.
01:09:55
Speaker
it seems to be the side that's closest to the wall as well. Recognizing that Folly will specify the description in the letter that he found the basis says one of the dragons that they have attempted to tame basically took so badly to it that he chose to kill himself rather than be part of this

Weird barbaric action that the aquisca is doing and folly is saying that in the most kind of Simplistic but sensitive way that he can manage because he folly is very very aware that sometimes what he says can come off really kind of Not pessimistic what's the word I'm looking for
01:10:49
Speaker
A lot of what Folly says can sometimes sound like he's trying to belittle somebody in the essence where he's trying to talk above them and Folly is trying to keep this simple, sentimental, just because he can't describe in any other way the actions that have been going off. Are you telling me they are experimenting on dragons? Yes, Draghi.
01:11:20
Speaker
And there's more than one here. Well, if I had to have that a guess, there could have been three. Could have. Whether they're still here or not, I don't know, but you did say you did believe you heard a dragon earlier. There might be one here that's still alive.
01:11:44
Speaker
We need to go searching. Drago is just looking over at the corpse and in Draconic, we'll just utter a few words. Respect. May your soul find peace. Akiva, can you see to this? And it's all just in Draconic but muttered as Drago just sensed that. Can I ask out of game?
01:12:13
Speaker
would a kiva in draconic sound the same as a kiva in common because it's a name uh oh i don't know would you refer to a kiva as a kiva now that'd be the only other question or would you need to say his name i wouldn't it's up to you um it's it's up to you i'd not direct con what you've just just said i think if if it is the same you would have heard a kiva
01:12:42
Speaker
I'm okay. Okay. Yes, but he's not going to react to it. Actually, yeah, we'll say that. We'll say that. Okay. You Drago, you sense a slight buzzing in your ear, which quickly arrives and quickly fades as well. Buzzing, which you recognize. And that's all the response you get from your deity. What would you like to do next?
01:13:06
Speaker
We need to search. I need to find the more. And Drago's face is... Everything he's done up at this point is measured. His pulse has started to quicken and there's a steely glint in his eye as the white knuckles of his hand is gripping onto your staff a little bit harder, as if you're getting the sense he's trying to control something within him.
01:13:36
Speaker
Yeah. Folly's staff is the last thing on his mind right now. You've got two options then. The passageway goes up to the north or down to the south. You can see up both of them and to the north it continues for quite some time. To the south it starts to take a corner. You can't see where it goes. Which would you like to take? Earlier you said that I got the sense there was a dragonborn around here. You heard a rumble which was akin to one of your bloodline, yes.
01:14:07
Speaker
Okay, listening intently, Drago's gonna see if he can still hear that rumble. Okay, give me a perception check with advantage. 19 North. Follow me. And Drago turns and hands back your staff. Finally, we'll take it, grab his rucksack as well, and just basically follow Drago North.
01:14:36
Speaker
You come across another passageway to the left and then another passageway further up and to the left as the corridor arcs back and you can assume matches, meets back up with the top of the large room that you found yourself in, the hatchery or whatever the man referred to as. There are two, which one would you like to do? The one that's closest or the further one away? I'm channeling everything in me to locate that rumbling.
01:15:02
Speaker
then I will basically, Drago is now single-minded and he's trying to find the source of this rumbling. He's no longer measured.
01:15:12
Speaker
There's something within him that's trying to get out. There's anger. That's bubbling. But he's still confused. He's still unsure. And he's not trusting what's going on inside of him. So north he goes. It's single-minded. When your mind is full of chaos, the thing you pull towards is a singularity. And right now, that is finding more of his brethren. You get to this top.
01:15:40
Speaker
entrance and you can now see it's a longer passage whereas these rooms seem to now be aligned you see the same thing a large hard metal thick iron door at their far end with a latch this is a longer corridor about 30 feet of five foot wide corridor and then this door at the end is the rumbling now start to sound a little bit more like breathing as you get closer and closer
01:16:07
Speaker
As Drago starts to pick up the pace towards this door, he'll lay one hand on it, take a deep breath, and then in Draconic, is anyone alive in there? And in response, in Draconic, if one can call this living
01:16:34
Speaker
My name is Drago. I am of Dragonborn descendants. I'm gonna open the door. Don't fight us. We're here to help. Come in if you must. My fate is sealed. The door is unlocked.
01:17:01
Speaker
That was my question. So Drago, just before he does, turns to folly. There's a dragon or dragonborn in life. Try not to anger or do anything to just just follow my lead. And Drago war up in the door.
01:17:23
Speaker
oh my god i'm excited and nervous all at once inside the room you see a relatively young brass dragon its normal muscular body crippled and frail weak
01:17:39
Speaker
but still standing at a tall, now attempting to stand with its chest upright, its large brass coloured ears leaning up against its deep red eyes, its nose and nostril kind of bent and deformed out of shape slightly, the wings small, frail, unused, it's almost like its atrophy has set in and the muscles that would be around the wings
01:18:03
Speaker
are almost unexistent these almost skeletal wings down to a tail that is small curled and wrapped around its body it stands itself up you can see its muscle shaking under the weight of its own body you notice now straight away the conundrum the issue the reason the door was unlocked this creature is way too big to leave
01:18:25
Speaker
The passageway is five feet wide. This creature is much, much larger than that, and has been bred, it seems, for the purpose of experimentation and nothing else. It stands with a sense of pride in front of you, and as it sees you enter, it slowly nods its head. Giago stands tall.
01:18:50
Speaker
but nods in a very respectful way. In a way that Folly has never seen Drago, with another creature, show utter respect from never meeting someone for the first time. Just like completely like, there's a nod. What's your name? My name is Dis-Krath. What is yours? Drago. This is all interconic.
01:19:24
Speaker
Forgive me if this is disrespectful, but we've just chased off a couple of members of the abcriska from this area. What's going on? They seek to control us. They seek to rein in our natural state. They seek to make us subservient to their cause. To fight for them.
01:19:56
Speaker
They have failed here with me, and they will leave me to die. And die, I shall. Tell me, Drago, of dragonborn descent. What of Traleesh? He is a friend of mine. We have spoken through these halls. For many a year, it seems. What of his fate? He has gone quiet of late.
01:20:25
Speaker
I don't know how many other dragons were in this area. I have seen one other in another cell like yours. And he is no longer in this world. Then he has done what I could not yet find within my soul to do. He has ended the suffering. I am too weak to do it.
01:20:55
Speaker
Ask what you will of me, and then I will ask one thing of you, Drago of Dragonborn Descent. What is their goal? Why dragons? They wish to form an army of dragons that are under the control of the abciscra.
01:21:22
Speaker
an unbreakable bond, an unfightable force, an army to rule the eleven kingdoms. I do not know how big this operation is, but from the conversation of my torturers
01:21:43
Speaker
i believe it is growing and i believe this man and you see his face kind of his nostrils flare and his skin kind of shiver almost at the word he's about to say trace seems to be orchestrating tell me drago of dragonborn descent what of the blight
01:22:07
Speaker
Has the decimated this forsaken land yet? Or do we still find ourselves in eternal struggle? Drago's brow creases and a hand goes to his head at the mention of the word blight. And he's trying to search through his memories at that tricker word. Yes. There's a blight. It's...
01:22:37
Speaker
It's as he's struggling, not yet final. There's still time to defeat it, I believe. And that's what I'm here to do.
01:22:57
Speaker
Yes, yes this time the Blight hasn't taken over Aerith yet and there's a big group of us that's trying to defeat it. We just need it.
01:23:16
Speaker
The dragonborn in their mix, they stand a much better chance, and I feel happy knowing that one of my own will be fighting. Despite everything they are doing here, at least the kriscra are that of a mortal sense. The blight stands against our very being.
01:23:38
Speaker
I can forgive the machinations of humans they are greedy we know this they are weak minded they are feeble and they are and he stops at that and looks down and a small bit of smoke comes out of his nose but those that are unliving they stand against everything we believe in
01:24:08
Speaker
I must apologize, Drago of Dragonborn, descent. I have asked you a question which I did not mean to ask. Please, ask what you must. You've never seen the outside world, have you? My world has been the four walls of this room since I was a hatchling.
01:24:37
Speaker
Drago is creasing his brow and his eyes are closing tight and he's making fists with his hands as he's struggling to control the anger and rage within him. I will get revenge for the dragons.
01:25:07
Speaker
I have had to suffer at the hands of the Acrisprr. You have my word. The word of Dengon's son, Drago. Well, Drago, son of Dengon. I do not want revenge for what they have done to our kinsmen. But you must reset the balance. You must reset the balance here.
01:25:37
Speaker
If that means revenge, then revenge it shall be if it helps you complete the task, but no, you must reset the balance they and the natural order of this world must be set right. These men are not our major concern, though I can see how it affects you, brother. Know that I will soon not be in pain.
01:26:04
Speaker
My pain will end and my soul will fly beyond these four walls and will not be untamed by the mortal likes of the Abchryskra or Delmont Trace. My soul will forever soar above this kingdom and I will be free. But your knowledge of the events that have taken place here, you must tell others. Others must join your cause.
01:26:33
Speaker
For I am afraid, as deep within my very soul I felt those pangs, those pulls to complete the words and needs and decrees of these humans. There are dragons that are not as strong as me. There are dragons that do not have the same fortitude as me to fight off this mental assault they have put upon us. Some of our brothers will have fallen.
01:27:00
Speaker
and some of our brothers must be slain for what they will do is irreparable and cannot be undone I will stop it I have people I have people here that I trust I do I will find them and they and me together we will stop them and bring balance
01:27:34
Speaker
I know what you want me to do. With their apology, though, Drago, son of Dengon, I do not ask it of you, and the eyes of the dragon shift slightly behind you. You there, gnome, step forward, and he says that in common. Oh, thank God for that. I've got to say, the entire thing has been going off into a conic and follows just like, what the hell are they saying?
01:28:02
Speaker
If he's only in common, yeah, Folly will very respectfully step forward. He will imitate in the best way that he can the bow that Drago did earlier towards his dragon as well. The smoke comes from the nostrils slightly. You must not bow in front of me, Gnome. You do not need to. I ask something of you.
01:28:28
Speaker
from the respect of one mortal creature to that of another. And Drago, I hope you now understand why it cannot be you. Enough dragon blood will be spilt by your sword over the next coming years. I do not know how many brothers have been broken by this order. So I will not ask you to spill more than is necessary.
01:28:56
Speaker
I didn't think you were asking me to kill other dragons. You will have to, soon. With all respect, but there must be a way to save them from the tyranny that's taken hold of their minds. I wish it was just their minds, Drago. But this magic, this...
01:29:20
Speaker
change they put upon you poisons and alters your very soul you can't ask me to do that i can bring balance and i can right the wrongs but to kill my own brethren it's either that or they will kill you but you must before the time is through drago son of dengon
01:29:47
Speaker
Their souls are corrupted. They must be set free. I've seen souls. I've seen where they go. I know the power that awaits them. There must be a way to save them. There is none that I know of. That is for you to discover if indeed it can be done. Now, gnome, may I ask your name?
01:30:15
Speaker
follow you fizzle bang the ninth sir well mr fizzle bang the ninth my name is dis krath and i ask you to allow me to bathe in flame so i may end my mortal existence may you
01:30:43
Speaker
Complete that task. I have a sense of your iconic prowess. Is this something you are capable of doing? If that is indeed your wish, then I believe I should at the least honor that. He gestures over to a far side of the room where he is not and just says, there will be fine.

Honoring the Dragon's Wish

01:31:13
Speaker
Okay, um, Folly just for a start, he's going to gesture over to him just to make his way into the area that he said, because he's got, he's going to do this in the most respectful way, that he can kind of muster. So if the dragon is to walk over, Folly's basically going to not just like do it from below, but emblazon him in a wall of fire, as well as
01:31:43
Speaker
from the ground underneath just so the dragon can i suppose end in the most fitting way that he deems uh suitable for him he moves himself this korath moves himself into the very place that he's nodded towards he stands up painfully on all four of his legs he stretches up and out flexing his
01:32:11
Speaker
huge back you really realize the sides of this creature and the wings unfurl broken battered holes within the skin as the wings unfurl and he strikes this powerful pose looking up and out into the distance beyond the four walls that he sees beyond this mortal realm that he seems to find himself ensconced within takes a deep breath in pushes out this deep black smoke from his nostrils
01:32:41
Speaker
turns to folly turns to drago and he just says in draconic again find the balance drago son of dengon and he turns to folly and nods and then takes his head back up wings outstretched flayed high almost filling the room as he poses and waits
01:33:08
Speaker
And for anybody, he's not doing it full blown, but for any fan, I fancy 10 fans, he's moving his staff almost like Yuna does.
01:33:16
Speaker
when she's doing the sending of all the souls and whatnot so he's doing it with a little bit of flair as the flames slowly start trickling just around him and then they slowly just erupt engulfing the dragon at his bequest but folly after he's done it he's basically going to be sitting down and watching
01:33:43
Speaker
And he's just going to quickly explain to Drago that this is his final request for me, Drago. I shan't leave until I know it's been completed. The dragon sits unmoved as the flames reach higher and higher. As the flames reach a certain temperature and a certain size, the eyes move finally back on to Drago and to Folly.
01:34:13
Speaker
And Draga, you know this to be a look of endearment. Probably you can't read this at all, but there is a appreciative, relaxed, kind look in the face of Diskrath for a second.
01:34:28
Speaker
And then he fills his lungs and releases this almighty roar, which seems to fill, rocking the very walls, the dust on the floor. Even the flames in front of him seem to get pushed back for half a second. And you hear it echo down the corridor behind you as the flames become higher and higher and higher. And you feel a very slight thud.
01:34:50
Speaker
on the floor and you can no longer see the head you can just see the flames and the intense heat of these flames as the creature of discraft disappears within the wall of fire that folly has created you

Drago's Emotional Turmoil

01:35:08
Speaker
see drago's chest start to expand out as he's gripping tightly and he just sheaves his axe
01:35:21
Speaker
And then all of a sudden, this not as powerful because he's not a dragon. But Roar emanates from Drago, one you would have heard before Folly, as he closes his eyes and you almost feel the room go cold as he's bringing from your heat of flames that just fucking burnt a dragon. There's this almost
01:35:47
Speaker
When you walk into crystals or you hear them just winkling around in the atmosphere, you hear this ding, ding, ding. You start feeling this ice just start to draw in on this room as Drago just, he's buried his head, he's closing his eyes, then
01:36:04
Speaker
He opens and looks to you and there is a spark of pure rage that you recognize in his eyes as he takes off dengon's deception off his back and he just lets loose a roar and just turns heads down the corridor
01:36:19
Speaker
And if you were to follow him or you leave him for a moment, he's heading into the main room and he is swinging hell for a lever. Dengon's deception on every piece of wood, furniture, anything in that room to do with these people screaming in pure rage as Drago rages and he initiates frenzy. And then he initiates dragon breath as everything all in one
01:36:48
Speaker
pure emotion, old ways, comes back and he is just letting loose.
01:37:06
Speaker
uh the area um which if he's aware that he's just like going if he says hell for leather on all the barrels of meat and god knows what else out there do you just hear smash and every time there's a more emotion added to it um as it finally is going to let him have his rage he's not going to interrupt him or anything like that um what
01:37:36
Speaker
What Folly would want to do at this moment is assuming the dragon has indeed passed at this stage, he would basically go over to where the dragon had decided to lay down and rest.
01:37:53
Speaker
and just see if there's anything left of the dragon because still in folly's mind he believes that to honor the dragon in the best way he wants to try and find something he can use to fight the of chrisker so even in death the dragon uh is still fighting on and folly believes it to be a vulnerable thing in his mind there are a number of bones the the uh
01:38:22
Speaker
The very being, the essence, the scales, everything seems to have burnt away in the blistering heat of your firewall. Or indeed the dragon has let the firewall take away his body.
01:38:34
Speaker
most of the, is left almost a perfect skeleton on the floor in the position of kind of almost what looks like a sleeping beast, a sleeping skeleton. The head is kind of curled round, the tail is round, the wings are tucked in as the creature seems to have just fallen asleep in that position. So there are a number of bones. If you're thinking of making some kind of dagger or sword or weapon out of one of the dragon bones, yes there are indeed those types of bones you could procure from the
01:39:02
Speaker
from the dragon in in a way that maybe off the wing or something that wouldn't necessarily upset or unbed or Unbalance the structure of the skeleton. He would if at all possible like teeth Yep, absolutely you can there's there's I would like to read ten teeth if I can you can take ten teeth absolutely fine Fucking using those as your cow chops
01:39:29
Speaker
You have got to find out what the hell dragon teeth are for a flying object. Yes, you managed to take them. That's absolutely fine. You can grab them. Of course. Folly will take them. Again, this is all an honorable thing. He approaches in a very solemn manner and
01:39:48
Speaker
Again, he doesn't want to disturb the skeleton at all. He believes it should be left pretty much as is, but he believes that, again, the best way to honour this dragon is to keep him fighting, as he wanted Drago to do, and to try and let his life live on in some way, shape or form. You haven't got to tell us your reasons, Folly, you desecrator. I kind of do, because I think if I didn't have this explanation, Drago would get very pissed off. Drago doesn't know. He doesn't know he's gone. He's gone.
01:40:32
Speaker
minute two minutes of just absolute violence and carnage and where you wielding dengons deception can get through the majority of the crates within this room the smell of meat fills the room the barrels were filled with water which cover the floor but you notice grates on the floor which pull it away but the floor nonetheless is still
01:40:39
Speaker
And I need to make sure I'm already established.
01:40:51
Speaker
Now, about a foot's worth of water, there's a lot of these barrels, large barrels, obviously, for keeping these creatures alive, that fill the entire room now. The bookcases are flooded, the table is in pieces, the chairs desecrated, the chessboard in absolute disarray, the fireplace hacked into pieces, all the crates destroyed. This place has well and truly been draggod. As the rage subsides,
01:41:19
Speaker
and you start taking a few breaths and you start to gain composure again. Is there anything you'd like to do? Folly, you also hear the lack of violence taking place in the hall. As it does start to calm down, Folly, after doing what he's doing, would rejoin Drago. Again, he's very solemn at this stage. He's still kind of white. He's still trying to process everything that's gone off. You enter into a room of absolute carnage and see Drago stood in the middle of it. Sarah, feel better now?
01:41:49
Speaker
And I wouldn't say better. I feel... I feel... I don't even know if I feel like me anymore. It's just so much.
01:42:07
Speaker
Ugh. We need to get to the others. We need to find Robin. We need to find Helena and Karsten. And you get the sense he's saying these names to ground himself into reality again. We need to find Claude. We need to... And whatever this is, I feel like there's two things inside of me, Folly.
01:42:39
Speaker
What kind of things, Drago? I don't know. I just... there's this... power I'm trying to control. We need to get out of here.
01:42:58
Speaker
This was not good. This is, this is not good. This is a desecration. This is a barbaric, horrible, deceitful act. Drago. Drago, look at me. Just for a moment. Drago turns eyes ablaze with blue ice flame. Yep. In his eyes. The ones that are responsible for this, they will pay.
01:43:28
Speaker
You have my word for that, but now is not the time for it. I can sense that there's a great battle there within you, between your rage and something I'm not quite sure yet, but perhaps a reunion might be the best step forward. Yeah, I feel like I'm getting me back. I don't know how long I was gone.
01:43:57
Speaker
where you need to catch me up we need to we need to get out of here we need to we need a touch base because do you need some things happened sorry carry on that's it that was do you need time between us or would you rather the entirety of the party be there

Regrouping and Closing Thoughts

01:44:17
Speaker
No, everyone needs to know. Everyone, Robin, Castan, Claude, Helena, Folly, you all need to know. Then let's go. I do believe that the rest of the team was awaiting at the Twin Ork Pub. Claude did direct me to where it is, so we'll go up here. Should make our way back to the streets and I'll see if I can find our way there.
01:44:47
Speaker
The rest of the party will join us eventually. I'm sure they'll be pleased to see you. Yeah. We'll see. And as you start to turn and make your way towards the stairs that you let the member of the Obciscra leave through, Tali, uh, Tali. Oh, you also forgot Tali, by the way, but nonetheless, she's got that, she's like,
01:45:17
Speaker
saying just put that out there i'm not the only one who forgets it let's just put that out there um i felt like going what about me uh no uh the tallies i don't know why she even came into it i said this once but let's say folly not tally nonetheless as you've approached the stairs uh folly you're out front as almost a more au fait member of goldview than drago
01:45:39
Speaker
When you push the grate open, the grates you are now very fond of, given the last one, the claw destroyed. And in comes this blinding afternoon sun. And as you step up and out of it, you notice you're in a small alleyway that seems to, about 20 feet away, join onto a busier road. You see people passing, you hear the noise of civilization, Drago, for almost the first time since Evershire, which seems now
01:46:07
Speaker
an age away, a lifetime away. And you realize as you look around the high walls, the smell of people, of food, of civilization, of smoke and industry, and the sea starts to enter into your nose, this whole world comes almost screaming back to you. And as you squint in the sunlight, and as you get yourselves out of the grate, and you close it down and look towards the busy street in front of you,
01:46:31
Speaker
That's where we're going to end it for this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. Thank you very much, you two, for a lovely little adventure. Oh my god. I am genuinely exhausted right now. Tell me about it. I'm warm. I've got this wonderful new smartwatch that tells me my heart rate that I picked up today and it has gone through the roof. I dread what mine is.
01:46:56
Speaker
That's a sign of a good episode, for sure. Man, it is good to be back. Couldn't have had a nice segue into it. Like, ah, let's go to the pub and have a drink. No, let's just fucking emotionally traumatise you. It's not just you. Folly is distraught by this. Probably not as much as Drago, but good God. Well, no, it's double level because you get it from a stock magic point of view, which obviously it has to prove to be new and they've abused you. Obviously not.
01:47:24
Speaker
Amazing, amazing story, amazing storytelling. And man, am I glad to be back. And you know what else? Thank you. It's good. It's very good to be back. I will take that. And it's just good. It's just good. And so thank you guys. And thank you everyone who has tuned in and made us a part of your everyday week.
01:47:49
Speaker
We love you for it. And I really do. I'm back, baby! Yeah! We're all back. The group is back together. Well, we're not.
