Like what was actually happening in your life before you made this? It's an incredible journey that I wanted to, everybody to hear.

Yeah, because you're so right. Everyone's like, what happened? This was an overnight success. And I'm like, oh, no, this was not an overnight success because, gosh, I actually got into the world of coaching in 2011 after very dark and lonely journey with cancer as a very young mom.

And I was like, man, that was hard. I do not want another young mom to go through the same kind of thing that I did. do believe in making our mess part of our message.

And I feel like, you know, God really gave me a heart to help and serve and bring encouragement to other women. So I got started. I was like going through the certifications and I finished and, you know, at the end, I'm like, okay,

but where are the clients? You know, somehow just thought that they'd be coming me.

That didn't really happen, you know? so I'm like, you know, I did work with some women. lot of them were like, Carrie, this sounds amazing what you do. I do not have any money for this. And I'm like,

Well, who am I to say no to that? Like, I'm like, okay, no worries. Like, let's just get started. I coached and coached my heart out for free while I was still recovering from cancer, even while I was in the midst of a really crazy divorce that I never saw coming working full time.

So there was a lot going on behind the scenes that led up to what seems like an overnight success, but surely not. Yeah.

Navigating Personal Struggles and Financial Hardships

Well, Carrie, you know, I know you and I were talking about this before and I want to kind of hone in a little bit about your story because again, you're like, people hear that and it's like, oh man, she went through a lot of stuff, but like you had cancer, you're going through a divorce you weren't expecting.

Yeah.

then you actually got left with a house on foreclosure, right?

Yeah.

If I remember the story correctly, tell us a little bit, like all the stuff that like you think could go wrong, went wrong and then much more happened to you. Yeah.

Sure did. So yeah, the day came home from running errands, I parked the car in front of our house, I was walking towards it and there was my then husband sitting on the front steps. He had his backpack on and he stood up and he was like, hey, I'm out of here. This is not very much fun anymore.

And I was like, what? The rug was swept out from under my feet. Yes, it was not fun. I fully agree with him, but I was going through cancer and treatment and sleeping 16 hours a day.

So obviously had no idea that this was coming, but he literally just walked away. He was definitely suffering from some mental health things at the time, but

I was not prepared to take on that mortgage entirely by myself. I was working full time as an occupational therapist and when that wasn't enough, I got a second job. When that still wasn't enough, I got a third job.

And finally, was just like, I cannot make this mortgage all by myself. And had to let it fall into foreclosure, which was such an awful, shameful time. You know, the sheriff actually has to come to your door.

They hand you the papers. And I'm like, oh my gosh, like everyone in the neighborhood is seeing this. This is awful. And happened seven times.

And then, you know, they come and they're like, yes, this is the date.

This is the time we're auctioning your half your house off at the county courthouse. I'm like, okay. So then the next day after that day and time, would call. I'm like, okay, I got three little kids. I have a house to pack. Like I need to be sure that I'm, you know, ready to be out on the date you need me to be. So I'm always wanting to confirm when do I need to be out of this house?

And then they would look at the, you know, the papers and whatever they were doing. And they're like, I don't know what happened here, but it didn't happen.

And, you know, these are like, county clerks and mortgage brokers and judges and just lots of official people.

Yeah.

And I'm like, this does not make sense. But that happened seven times in three years. And on the seventh time, it kind of clicked that this is not just coincidence. Like, are you doing something here?

Because I had whole lot of healing that needed to happen, not only physically, but emotionally. And then just being there for my kids and not knowing how I was going to, you know, pay rent or a mortgage in any other ways.
Faith, Surrender, and New Beginnings

But it was actually the eighth time we got into this again. was already grateful for those three years that I didn't have to pay a mortgage. But the eighth time by now, it's July of 2015. It was super hot morning. I remember our air conditioner was broke. I didn't have any money to fix it. And so I walked out the back door at 7 a.m. to let our dog out.

completely fenced in backyard. And there, like to my surprise was the sheriff. He's sitting on my patio furniture. He's kind of like, Good morning. I'm like, Oh, my goodness.

Yeah.

I just got jumped by a sheriff in my backyard in my pajamas.

And the papers again, knew the process. I was like, Okay, here we But I by that eighth time that I feel like was what you know, it was a straw that broke the camel's back.

And I'm like, We have been so blessed to be here for seven years. Like there's no way that this can continue. So that was the day I'm like, I have to tell my kids what's going on here.

I had been trying to protect them, but I'm, you know, remember we sat down with our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that night for supper. And I was like, guys, you know, we need to make some changes here.

Unfortunately, I have to cut out all of your activities, their beloved gymnastics and dance and basketball. And even though July, I somehow thought that I needed to add in, you're getting one Christmas present this Christmas, I didn't want you to cry about it.

Like, I just needed to prepare their hearts. But they sat there in silence.

They were kind of nodding, but their eyes, could tell that they were scared beyond belief. And I just felt like I was absolutely failing them as their mom. So I ran to the bathroom as quick as I could to not burst into tears in front of them. And I literally don't know how long I was in there, but at one point my youngest daughter, Amelie, she came and she knocked on the door And she had run upstairs.

She filled her little pink cheetah print suitcase with her earthly treasures, her books and Barbies and seashells and rocks. And she was like, Mom, we're going to be okay. I have lots of things for us to sell for money.

It's like, oh, sweet girl. And just broke me open because I was trying to control. was like, you know, not really manipulating my circumstances, but I'm like, okay, if something's not working, I'm going to try harder and do more and work more and like all these things. But that night I feel like was when God was like daughter, daughter,

surrender. I've got you. have a plan. have a purpose. And it's going to be way easier than anything you're doing. So I'm so grateful for all those experiences because, mean, yes, I was born a Christian, grew up in a Christian home, but I did not have a relationship, like a loving, intimate walk with him I those years and during that time.

And so I it was awful. Yes, it was hard, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Wow. You had mentioned that it was like seven, if I heard correctly, was it seven years from the divorce, the cancer divorce, and then that moment of your daughter coming and knocking on the door.

Was that right? Did I do my math right? Or is it five years?

Well, so that was about, yeah, four years. And then we still lived in that house in foreclosure for a total of six years and two months.

And between that day, met my now husband about three years, three years, three months later after I surrendered and met him, he was able to move into my house after we got married, we tore down his house.

built our dream house that we're now And like, just all glory to him. I cannot believe just the way he orchestrated everything.

Wow. Okay. So we got, we got immense pain and I'm sure we could talk about the mindsets and all the stuff that you had to heal through that there.

Oh, yeah.

And then like now the, the kind of the aftermath, right? The, the heaven of like, you're like, man, Things are going well. Business is going. There's this in between, right? Where you're like, okay, we got to do something.

Yeah.

Talk to us. What happened when once you laid down your coaching business and you made that decision, what happened next? And how did you get from that moment to building 100K income stream?

Kari Olson
Yeah. So because of those crazy experiences, I am just like so dependent on him. believe that, you know, looking to him, asking him questions, sometimes I'm just like pretending like, not pretending. I feel like I'm a kindergartner. I'm like, Lord, should I do this? Yes or no? Like I just need it to be so clear. But now That's how I make decisions.

And I am seeking him. I'm looking for his voice. I only want to do what he wants me to do. And so last year, when I heard him say, Carrie, I want you to lay down your coaching business.

I literally was shocked because this was my baby. This was what got me out of that 40-hour occupational therapy job. I wanted to coach. I wanted to help.

I was really proud of what I put together. When he asked me to lay that down, I was just like, are you kidding? I worked so hard at this. didn't understand it.

At first, I said no. I'm not, but man, like I have learned through all of this obedience is where it's at.

Wow.

And so it only took a week, but finally, you know, he gave me seven confirmations in seven days. Yes, this is what I want.

And so, I did it. I didn't understand it. And did it very tearfully. You know, he, he asked me to do this and I was like, okay, like three months, give me three months, Lord. I'll wrap things up with my clients. He's like, no, in the next week, I was like,

Are you serious? And so it just, it was very abrupt for me, for my clients that I had said, I'm going to help you. And said, yeah, I couldn't have said I understood it.

I was definitely not happy about it, but I just, I had to trust and believe that, yeah, his ways are better and higher.

And even though I didn't have the perspective, I was just going to do it.

How did your husband, I'm curious what your husband, like when you came to your husband, like, hey, well, let me ask a two-part question. How much were you making in your coaching business at the time?

Yeah,

And then when you told your husband, hey, I'm going to close this, I'm just thinking from the husband's standpoint, right? Like, what are you doing? What? Like, where's that income? You know, we just lost this much income. So just walk us through that.

probably making me to like about consistently 15,000 a month, you know, not crazy over the top, but like that to me was beautiful and very life-changing.

Okay. Yeah.

So when I came to my husband with this, I had a harder time than he did.

And yes, it is crazy because, I think just he, I didn't have the answers. And so I had the guilt and the sadness. I was still grieving that loss, but then I didn't have the answers.

You know, this is how I'm going to make it up. And I mean, God did say, and when you pick it back up, it's going to look very different. But I didn't know, is that going to be five months? Is it going to be five years?

You know, I knew it was coming, but like, obviously my husband and I have been through a lot in, you know, since we have been together.

Yeah.

And we've just learned to have faith and trust. And even when, you know, in those early years when I literally asked him, my husband's name is Ty, and there was one launch that I did, 250 women in a challenge, not one single person signed up for my program.

And that night I said, honey, you have to pray with me that God takes this desire for coaching out of my heart.

It is so clearly not working. And he was like, no, I will not do that. And I mean, obviously I'm so grateful, that's where the partnership and just having someone who believes in you and is not going to pray that, you know, God takes coaching out of your heart and is just is there even when neither of us understand.

Okay. So, so you had his support, it sounds like, and you laid it all down.

Then what happened? Like, what was the impetus? Like, walk us through what happened and how did you get to of like affiliate offers? And how did that allow you to scale fast?

Yeah, so actually had heard about this affiliate program through just an online friend on Facebook and amazing.

Something that I honestly, I would see her post and I would kind of roll my eyes at. I'm like, what is she doing?

And I was so skeptical. I've been in a lot of programs, you know, since 2011 that have maybe over promised and under delivered or just, you know, sometimes, yes, I will take responsibility. I didn't, you know, fully walk out.

So I'm just, I'm guarded. And so I'm like, what the heck is she doing? But she kept posting about, you know, making all this money. And I just, you know, kind of sat there with my arms crossed going, this is too good to be true.

But finally, asked her about it. And like, okay, this actually is kind of interesting. It did seem to me like an irresistible offer. In the coaching world, everyone talks about having an irresistible offer.

Oh, yeah.

And I'm like, okay, I don't quite understand this, but like was intrigued enough to lean in and ask more questions. So I did.

And was like, okay, I'm just going to try it. Because also part of this was, you know, God was like, hey, I want you to do this. And, you know, again, was probably out of pride because I'm like,

I have my own thing. I don't want to be promoting someone else's thing. But when I learned just of how easy it was because you know, after God asked me to lay that down, like there was just still healing that I needed to happen in my heart, in my soul, in working out still limiting beliefs in my head around success and business and money.

But I'm like, it just it seemed too easy. I'm like, can this really work? Because I'm just leading them to a program while the founder of the program and her team of eight, you know, still do the coaching and the training and all the tech updates and you know, the tech support and just, it's, I'm just like, can this work? But when God told me to do it, I'm like, okay, let's do it.

So I bought in again, not even knowing if I was going to promote it because I've been in other programs, you know, with affiliate offers. I'm like, I cannot share anything I don't fully believe in. So I'm like, let's just see.

And, you know, I'm, I'm pretty picky about what good coaching looks like and

Yeah. Yeah.

I had been in four other programs with master resale rights that I did not choose to promote because of, you know, a lack of something, you know, maybe there wasn't live coaching, maybe, know, in some of them, like the, the trainers were like swearing.

I'm just like, can't put my name on that. Like, you don't know until you actually get in it, but I'm like, okay, okay.

this is actually pretty good. And for $900, like that was one of the most reasonable coaching programs I had ever bought. And when I found out that you could not only take the coaching, you could learn the marketing skills and the automations and the funnels, which I had never used in my life.

But, you know, so I could learn from it, but then also resell it for 100%. I'm like, this is a no brainer to me. So all of that clicked. It all came together. God said yes.

I believed in it. And then I started posting. And yeah, like you said, 100K in 67 days still blows my mind. I still can't even believe those words come out of my mouth.

When I remember when you and I first talked about it, you told me like, was it your child or was it your husband that you kind of went to like after 30 days or 60 days and you saw the money coming and you're like, oh my gosh, this is actually happening.

Just walk us through that moment. Like, oh, I shut this thing down. actually obeyed. I did it. And look at the fruit of my labor.

Yeah. So I didn't. tell anyone that I was starting this. I didn't tell my husband and I didn't tell my kids and I didn't tell my parents because I've just been in there and now I'm like, I don't know if this is going to work.

Like I'm like, and again, all those years I was a single mom, I was trying online things. I knew we needed more income. And so I actually made a list. I tried 31 different things that I actually promoted, not just like courses that I'm learning from, but like actually promoted.

And 31 different times, it was a failure. But I learned through it all, but I didn't want to get their hopes up again. So I didn't even tell them I was doing this.

And 30 days into the program, it's safe to say $53,000 later, my skepticism had faded little bit. It was so much fun because actually have videos of all three of my kids, my husband, and then I Zoomed with my parents.

Crazy. But the day before I'm like, okay, so my husband is going to be like, way to go, honey. I'm so proud of you. Can we get a boat? And I knew he was going to say that and that pretty much exactly how it went. So on the video, you see him, he's all excited. And then he's like, let's get a boat. And I, so we got a boat.

But yeah, my oldest daughter, you know, as an OT, I worked at a public school and the most I've ever made working full time in a year was 63,000.

So when I told her that I had made 53,000 in a month, she's like, Mom, that's like almost as much as you made in an entire year working full time.

No, I'm sure like you and I both have stories of like there times when it was hard. These are just like the great times when God was like, look, I'm showing you this is the route you should go.

Yeah. So I think, again, when we're starting out and wanting to do some type of online business, most of the time, and this is maybe just my background, but before I helped Christian women to do their own coaching program.

Am I an expert? I'm not ready. You know, there's just like so much time and energy and effort that goes into creating your own thing. Like I worked with my clients for over six months, sometimes years, you know, to get that program up and ready.

But now with this, you know, affiliate program, it is basically like a business in a box, you know, where you're just handed this already done for you proven program that teaches marketing skills online.

And so I did not know how to do, you know, like an email capture page and they just put their email in and then they get into the nurture sequence and like all these automations. I had no clue. I'm super old school about, know, emails and that type of thing, but just the, oh, like,

I had someone the $900 program last night and I'm like, who is this? I don't know who they are. Whereas before it was like, I had to do a discovery call and like I knew, you know, I had to like overcome their objections and not in a salesy slimy way, but like we just all have limiting beliefs.

And there was just a lot of work and energy poured into a person via a webinar and then a discovery call and just like all this time and effort. Whereas now someone can just put their email into my capture page. They get the nurture sequence and then they end up buying it. And I don't even know who they are, where they came from. know, it's just like, praise the Lord. Like that is beautiful thing. After I just feel like hustling and working so darn hard is I just learned there is an easier way.

Yeah. And the beauty that I want people to hear about this is that this didn't happen. And you said it multiple times. It didn't happen overnight. This has been like a 10, 12 year journey of like learning new skill sets, learning how to pivot, learning how to do different things.

So but the majority of the people in this program are starting from scratch and maybe they're they're already in a business or maybe they're working full time somewhere and they don't want to like have their their boss see what they're doing.

Like if if I didn't, you know, if I knew there.

I would be like, let's pray. But because I wasn't, you know, kind of walking that line, I didn't know their faith. And so finally, you know, he's just like, okay, Carrie, you need to be working with Christians because, you know, I do feel like when we can include that and me as a coach just being like, I don't know what to do here. Let's ask Holy Spirit, you know, just like that type of thing.
