Baker Plbg
Okay, I came across an interesting article on MSN by NARCITY. It is the top five paying professions in Canada.
Construction and Gender Pay Gap
00:00:12
Baker Plbg
Number five is construction, which has a basically median yearly salary of $82,000. Interestingly,
00:00:24
Baker Plbg
It says, this is a male heavy industry in show and it shows. Construction has the largest gender pay gap. Whatever. With women making an average 79% of what men earn.
00:00:38
Baker Plbg
I wonder why that is. Why do you think that is? I suspect everybody knows. Do they want to say? Yeah.
00:00:47
Baker Plbg
I'll leave that to your own
Education Professionals and Work Hours
00:00:48

conclusions. Next is education at $83,000 a year, teachers, professionals, and trainers. Most of those are women. Doesn't say that here. And again, they they these people are putting in the fewest hours, averaging 37 per week, the lowest of any industry. So they get paid more.
00:01:12
Baker Plbg
There's no gender pay gap there for less time.
Lawyers and Engineers: Salary Disparities
00:01:16
Baker Plbg
Anyway, next is professional sciences like lawyers, engineers, accountants, consultants, designers, researchers, IT professionals. They're at $90,000 a year. ah And this one also has a big pay gap. Interestingly, men women make 80% of what men do.
00:01:33
Baker Plbg
I don't know anything about that, so I can't speak to that.
Government Jobs and Stability
00:01:37
Baker Plbg
The next one is public administration, which is basically government work. And ah this one makes me mad.
00:01:45
Baker Plbg
The average is $91,000 a year. um Lawmakers, policy analysis to police officers, or park rangers. And they are notoriously the most stable jobs, of course, because the government just accepts all sorts of mediocrity.
Utilities: A Gender Pay Reversal?
00:02:00
Baker Plbg
um It had a 3.4% increase over the last year and and unfortunately here women still only make 85 so it's not just the construction guys this is good utilities is next at 110 000 a year and this is the top paying field for women uh the average is 110 and women make 112 so they're go work for utility if you are unhappy uh with the gender pay gap
00:02:34
Baker Plbg
It doesn't really say. Electricity, water, waste, natural gases, both public and private. And then at last is unsurprising.
Natural Resources and Gender Pay Disparity
00:02:41
Baker Plbg
Natural resources, forestry, fishing, mining, quarry, gas, oil, and gas. They make $115,000. And this is umm surprisingly not nearly as prosperous for the women. What are you going about it?
00:03:12
Baker Plbg
we should Should we talk about that? um
00:03:16
Baker Plbg
the gender pay gap and why that is in these fields. The only one that it seems to have, uh, utilities is the best for women and education.
00:03:27
Baker Plbg
Those are the ones where you, <unk> is the most favorable to the ladies is what it looks like from here. They have, uh, um, education. You get the best pay for the least amount of hours.
00:03:43
Baker Plbg
I'll let you decide the conclusion of that, why that is. I don't know. I have lots of theories. Most of them will get me in trouble. But
00:03:50
Baker Plbg
it's interesting nonetheless.
Industries with Gender Pay Equality
00:03:53
Baker Plbg
um Canada really oh is starting to see um some of the lower ones, manufacturing, temp ah transportation, healthcare. care Interestingly enough,
00:04:11
Baker Plbg
These include high pain roles like radiologists and surgeons. And they are way down the list. um And women make about equal, so it says.
00:04:26
Baker Plbg
Way farther down business support services, agriculture and accommodation and food services.
