May the 4th be with you, friends. Every time I say that, I feel like I'm lisping, but it is May the 4th today. it is unofficial Star Wars Day. You know, to me, Star Wars Day is always gonna be May 25th because that is the day that A New Hope was released.

We called it Star Wars back then 1977. I saw it a week and a half later. for the first time when I was 10 years old. But hey, everybody celebrates May the 4th now, and I am all for it. As I saw on an old Facebook post I made, any chance to celebrate our story is a chance

Busy Schedules and Fan Fest Adventures

So oh and we had the learning geeks on, of course, and just an introduction. So those were those first four episodes. from May the 4th. So I thought we are in the middle Andor right now, and i will be honest with you guys, it has been a little bit of a crazy week. ah Ben, who has been on my Andor podcasts, he and his wife came out this weekend and we went to Universal Studios to their Fan Fest, which is kind of, if you can imagine,

Universal saying, hey, we make so much money on Halloween Horror Nights. How can we do this another time during the year? And they said, well, let's hit up all the nerds and do FanFest, which really was kind of nerd fest.

ah They had Haunted House like experiences. They weren't they were they were different. They were really cool for Star Trek and for Dungeons and Dragons. And then they had a few other offerings. It was a really good time.

It was super fun. But it had nothing to do with Star Wars, so I'm not going to talk any more about that other than to say ah Ben was out this weekend, and so we're a little bit behind on recording.

Star Wars Releases and Series Reflections

um Okay. So I just wanted to reflect a little bit on this last year of Star Wars fandom because it's been a little bit strange. It's a little bit rocky.

You know, I would say that, um, about this time last spring, and I don't remember the precise dates, but about this time last spring, We were ah getting excited. Well, you know, on May the 4th, I believe that's when Tales from the Empire debuted. And so we watched that and there were a few, you know, little Star Wars Day things and stuff like that. It's always kind of fun.

I was able to get out to Disneyland and celebrate there. And so that was fun. But we were anticipating the Acolyte. And, um you know, the Acolyte came out and...

I thought the acolyte was decent. I thought it was good. And I thought it left that story exactly where I was ready to pick up and see more with, you know, the sneak preview of Darth Plagueis and to see where the story was going to go from there.

But the show got canceled. And i know there are a lot of people who did not like The Acolyte for one reason or another. i would have to say it seems like, at least from the business point of view, The Acolyte was a little bit of ah of a misstep.

And so, you know, like I said, I liked it. It's hard for me not to like Star Wars, but it wasn't my favorite. um It was fine. So then...

Things were feeling a little bit dark, but then Skeleton Crew came along and Skeleton Crew appeared to kind of reunite the fandom. Most of the people who I was looking at in social media or who I was talking to really seemed to enjoy Skeleton Crew and enjoyed that homage as it were to the classic Amblin movies of the 80s that we were all used to. It really did feel like Goonies in space and Jude Law I thought was incredible in that. So it it was really fun.

That was the whole point with Skeleton Crew. I think we all agreed that it was a very fun show. So that, you know, we had Skeleton Crew And then we started hearing whispers a little bit more about, okay, Mandalorian and Grogu, that movie is actually happening.

That movie is shooting. That movie has wrapped. It's in post-production. we know that Mandalorian and Grogu will be out next to Memorial Day. So a year from now, when we have our second anniversary special, I think we're going to be very hyped for the Mandalorian and Grogu movie to be coming out.

um at Star Wars Celebration, I was not able to get into that panel, but I did see a little bit of a bootleg of some footage from it, which looked very fun.

We also got to hear out on the Star Wars Show Live stage And you should be able to find this on YouTube if you want to take a look. We were able to stand in the audience when Sigourney Weaver and Jon Favreau came out. So we got to hear Sigourney Weaver talk about it. She talked quite a bit about her character on that. went Actually, a little a little, I thought, into spoiler territory.

ah But what I am comfortable sharing with you is that she plays a a fighter pilot. She seems to be a X-Wing pilot. or yeah I don't know what letter.

What letters star fighter could be a Y wing, could be an E wing, but she plays a definitely a new Republic era star flighter pilot, star fighter pilot.

We saw her in her flight gear and she just looked great. That was great. um And we know that she is the person who hires the Mandalorian on whatever job it is that he's hiring.

yeah I don't know exactly what he's doing, but we do know that Jeremy Allen White is playing Rod of the Hut, Jabba the Hut's son. Don't know exactly what that's going to look like, ah if he's going to look very human or more likely he's just doing the voice and mocap or something like that.

But anyway, that movie is coming out. So we're starting to get a little bit of hype around that.
Upcoming Events and Anticipations

um Star Wars Celebration Japan, I talked about that a couple weeks ago, it was really phenomenal. And as all Star Wars Celebrations are, it felt like the fandom was very united. Everybody was very excited to be together and we really felt unified as a community, which was wonderful.

We found out that Star Wars Starfighter then, which will be directed by Sean Levy and star Ryan Gosling, will be out the following Memorial Day.

So two years from now, on May the 4th, when we are celebrating the third anniversary of Short for a Stormtrooper, we will be super hyped for Star Wars Starfighter because that will be coming out in just a few weeks. And I do have to say...

It really feels like Lucasfilm is learning their lesson and they will not be, um, announcing new programs that do not see the light of day. I think we're we're pretty much guaranteed that this one is happening. Sean Levy said as much.

And so, you know, barring a gigantic disaster, that movie is coming and it'll be out in two years. So there's all of that, but also Andor has just been absolutely fantastic.

And i got a reservation to build a lightsaber at Savi's and I intend to build with the new pieces that they have. So they have a fifth style of light of lightsaber that you can build.
