And I don't know how coherent I was the other night, so I thought I would wait till the morning. But we still should get this out for everybody else around the world on Saturday afternoon, which will be great. You guys can hear what happened on Saturday.

Julie wasn't there. It was just me and Pete on Saturday. And we had made reservations, as you recall, for the Andor panel in one of the streaming rooms. So the main event was happening in the large celebration stage.

We were in what was called the Twin Sun stage, where they had, of course, a big screen set up to to stream live into that room.

So we got there early. We got there about 7.15 in the morning and it was nice. There was no line to get through security. We just walked right up and found the line for people who had reservations like us and we sat in it.

ah While we were waiting, we met some really fun, friendly people who hopefully are now listening to this podcast. So Tia from Australia and Andy from Canada and Jesse from Orlando. out to you. Hope you're here and hope we get to meet again soon.

So time went fast because we were just chatting and getting to know each other. And that really is for me probably the best part of Star Wars Celebrations is the opportunity to meet other fans.

And i like to joke that it's the time when we all feel united together. before we go back to our computers and are yelling each other over the internet and talking about how stupid the other people are. So it is the brief moment in time when Star Wars fandom is united and everybody is very positive about everything that they that they see.

Except for one exception that people are not positive about and i'm going to get to that a little bit later. Anyway, as we were waiting for the Andor

session to start. There was, of course, a group of about 10 or 15 people dressed up as the Narkeena 5 prisoners.
Star Wars Traditions and Fun

They went running through the room, chate shouting one way out, chanting one way out, and that was really fun. I got some good pictures of them, which I will put up on the Discord, so take a look.

That was a ah blast seeing those people. And I was a little sad because the day before I had missed the running of the hoods.

That is a Star Wars celebration tradition where everybody get everybody gets dressed up as the shit glippo character, Wilro Hood.

He was the guy in in Empire Strikes Back, who you see escaping Cloud City from the Imperials, carrying what looks like his ice cream maker.

We now know, of course, thanks to Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, who are intent on taking all these things and making them canon, that that thing is actually called a Camtono, and that is used to as a little personal safe. So Will Rowe was probably in story, running away with all his money.

but it sure looked like he was running away with ice cream. So if you can imagine 40 to 50 people in orange drum suits with with fake curly black hair and fake black mustaches, carrying ice cream makers running through the convention hall shouting, ice cream, ice cream.

That's the running of the hoods. They do that every every celebration and that's fun. I missed that the other day, but I did get to see the Narkeena Five prisoners and so that was fun.
Andor Panel Insights and Episode Reveal

Anyway, the Andor panel, everybody was there except for Ben Mendelsohn who played Krennic in Rogue One and will be playing Krennic again. And all of the regulars though were there.

It was a super fun panel. It's just great listening to the those guys talk. They're so excited to be in Star Wars and so excited by the reception from the fans. That makes them very happy.

And then the the prediction that I made again came true. They were able to show us the first episode of Andor. So Andor season two.

So I will be completely spoiler free on this. All I will say is it was great. I really enjoyed it I thought that it felt very much like Andor with kind of that depth and the weightiness to it, but also it brought in a little bit more of the Star Wars humor that we're used to. i think we might see kind of a little more gradual transition to to the things that are genuinely funny as part of this show.

It worked, though. It just really worked to pull it all together. And so Andor, season two episode one. You will be able to see that on Tuesday night, April 22nd, as part of the three episode block that will drop. And I can't wait to see it again and to see episodes two and three and see where this part of the story goes.

So lot of fun. um We left the and or panel and immediately got back in line because we realized at this convention that even if you don't have a reservation,

for the big events. There are usually plenty of standby seats that are available as long as you get there a little bit early.
Ahsoka Panel Highlights: Humor and Teasers

So we got right into the standby line for the Ahsoka panel that was happening about an hour later.

We were some of the first people in line, so we were able to jump into that. That was super fun and the panel was good. We had Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau and of course Rosario Dawson were there. And you know I could listen to Dave Filoni read the phone book. I think he is just hysterical.

Very, very funny. Again, there no spoilers. They haven't even started shooting season two yet. They're going start shooting that as soon as they get back from Celebration. But Dave did share one thing very funny. He said he created specifically for the Disney merchandising group that Loth Cats have Loth Kittens that we're going to see. And the Loth Kittens, their poor little legs are too weak to support their body weight.

So they just roll around. So imagine little balls of fluff rolling around with Loth Cat faces on them. Yes, they will be instant hit toys.

Everybody's going to love them. And get ready to buy yourself some Loth Kittens. That will be fun. The other thing is because, you know, you you always have to show something. and He even said, we want to show something. I remember the Star Wars Celebration where they first talked about Rogue One before they'd even started production of Rogue One.

And they were able to whip up a little teaser trailer of a TIE fighter kind of you know flying down a a river, flying along a river.

and it was a top-down view of the TIE Fighter. And then as the TIE Fighter goes into the distance, it pans up and you see there's a moon over the horizon, but then it keeps tilting up and the moon was actually the Death Star. You saw the laser eye in the Death Star. It was really cool. Just something, you know, somebody in ILM probably whipped together in five minutes or so i with 3D modeling software, but it was very effective and gave you a taste of what was coming.

So for Ahsoka, what Filoni did was he said he remembered that back in the early the late 70s, actually, right as they were starting production of Empire Strikes Back,

that George Lucas wanted to have a trailer in theaters. And I remember actually seeing this in the movie theater, a trailer for The Empire Strikes Back, where they had shot none of the actual movie. They just took stills from the original movie and some of the production art.

And it had this very distinct, very 1970s retro look to it. Well, you see where this is going. Dave did the same thing with Ahsoka. So he took some some shots from season one as well as some production art and ah the same kind of cheesy narrator voice you know see the continuing adventures of Ahsoka Tano Ahsoka season two and it it was just a lot of fun so of course that was set up where they they said you know don't record it and there were people walking around making sure that you weren't recording anything

So we couldn't record it. But, you you know, you can probably find it on Reddit. Otherwise, it might make its way to the Internet sometime soon. If not, you're not missing a ton. It was just kind of fun to see. So good job for that.

um I forgot to mention that Hayden Christensen joined that panel. And so it was great listening to him. He and Rosario Dawson actually went to film or acting school together. So that was cool to see those two together.

And... um it confirmed that Hayden will in fact return as Anakin in season two. So that was that panel.
Shopping Adventures and Cosplay Excitement

And then when that was done, Pete and I got in line for the official Star Wars Celebration store.

And that was about a two and a half hour wait, but I was able to get a lot of really fun t-shirts. So yeah, I was able to get what I wanted. And so all in all, it was a good, it was a good day.

Um, The one thing that lots of people are complaining about online is just how poorly run this conference is. Of course it's poorly run, it's a Star Wars celebration, that's how these things go.

But I am still managing to have a good time. My expectations were set appropriately low in terms of the organizational abilities of ReadPop who put these on, and I am still having a good time.

Of course the best thing is is meeting the other Star Wars fans and feeling that sense of unity. So with that, I'm going to make my sister come over here.

But I it's crowded and um it's very crowded and not surprisingly, but still i was surprised at how crowded it was. But Like Bob said, everybody's so friendly. Everybody's very open to talking to each other. Walking around, there are so many people in in costume and shirts. It's fun.

some of the philosophical conversations about the historical or the connections to Star Wars and classic mythology. Yeah, we talked about that. story elements. So it's been a great experience, and I hope to do it again and get in some panels because I wasn't able to get into any of the really good panels. Yeah.

Yeah, that was fun. You know, another fun thing too was I had been thinking, and I'll keep you all posted on this, but I've been thinking about building some Mandalorian armor and joining the Mando mercs.

So one of the things I wanted to do in this celebration was connect with some people who were part of the group and see if I vibed with them before I committed to making costumes and And last night we decided we needed some American food. So he went to the Burger King. We were standing in line and right behind us was Tom, who is Mandalore the Uniter. He is the guy in charge of the whole Mandalorian Mercs group. So we talked with him while we were waiting in line about half an hour.
