Significance of Celebration Stages

I dropped off my my son Jackson ah and his girlfriend went to Japan for spring break and I was dropping them off yesterday and it struck me that I was dropping them off. It was exactly one month from when i would be leaving for Japan myself, which, you know, it seemed like months ago.

Well, it seemed like it was going to be months in the future, months ago when we were planning it, and now it's just one month away. So it's time to start planning. And what I wanted to share with you all is the different panels and the different sessions that will be available during Star Wars Celebration.

And I want to get your input on what I should focus on, because my goal is to kind of broadcast direct from star Wars Celebration.

I don't know if I'll do any live streams or anything like that. And besides, it would be the middle of the night for most of y'all and nobody would be watching it live. But I do intend to post a quick podcast episode every night with ah Julie, my sister, who is coming with, and Pete, my nephew, and maybe even his wife, Kaneko, returning to her native Japan with their two kids who will be with us on this trip.

We'll do a podcast and kind of recap the day's event events and what we learned. But would love to get your input on what I should focus on. So ah just this last week, just a couple of days ago, the StarWars.com team published the list of what I would call the official list.

events that are happening at Star Wars Celebration. And here's what I mean by that. Ever since they've been doing Star Wars Celebration, at least as far back as I've been going, which is from Celebration 2 through this one. So, you know, for the last 20 some odd years, we've been going to these pretty regularly.

We've missed a few. This is the first time I'm traveling overseas to go to one. So that will be fun. But since kind of the dawn of time of Star Wars Celebration, there has always been three main stages. So they call the main main stage the Celebration Stage.

And that's where they have all of the marquee events when they're announcing new movies or new shows or whatever. And you've got the stars there and, you know... Kathleen Kennedy or Dave Filoni or Jon Favreau show up.

They're going to be in the Celebration stage. Then you've got the Galaxy stage, ah which it actually says here is one of two premier stages for the weekend, along with the Celebration stage. So they're trying to make that of the same tier as

the Celebration stage. I think it's kind of a step down, but there's some good stuff on the Galaxy stage. And then there's the Twin Suns stage.

And those are the three stages where kind of the official stuff coming from Lucasfilm tends to happen. There's a few other stages. There's like the HoloNet news stage, which is for podcasters, and I didn't get my application in time to broadcast live from there next time.

ah There's also, well there's just a bunch of other stages. There's a fan stage. There's a few other stages where fans can submit for panels and present them. And like I said, definitely next time,

Because for those of you who follow Learning Geeks, you know, getting up in front of a bunch of people at a conference and talking is something I love to do. So I will be doing that in the future, not doing it this time.

I might come back and talk about some of the things that are going to be offered there. But what I really want to focus on is in these three main stages, what is going on? So let me start with with this. um First off.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the three days of the conference, there are kind of three big main events. So on Friday, 10 a.m., it will be live on the Celebration stage and then streamed into the Galaxy stage and the Twin Sun stage will be The Mandalorian and Grogu.

And by that, I am talking about the movie that is coming out next year. So... ah It says Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and special guests. Who knows who's going to be there?

I know there's a bunch of Mandalorian people who are announced who will be there signing autographs. I wouldn't be surprised if there's not some surprise guests who show up, which would be great.

But they will be there. I'm sure that they will show like a first trailer or at least some footage from that. That we will try to get into. I should also say that for this and what I'm going to talk about in a second for Saturday and Sunday, you have to get tickets through the lottery to get into any of those three places, the Celebration Stage, the Galaxy Stage, and the Twin Sun Stage.

That lottery is taking place next week. So wish us luck as we put in for the lottery to get tickets for for that. So Friday morning, Mandalorian and Grogu, that is priority number one if we can get into that.

After that, though, ah at the Twin Sun stage, there is a Hasbro Star Wars panel and they will be talking about upcoming Hasbro toys. So are you interested in that? Is that something that you as a Star Wars fan are interested in, the toys and the collectibles that come from Hasbro?

If so, let me know and I will try to prioritize that. Now, there is a little bit of a conflict there because that goes to 1230. At 12 noon, there is a Lucasfilm Publishing, but it Lucasfilm Punishing.

I will be skipping those, though, because at 1 o'clock... there is on the celebration stage a panel about light and magic, which is the documentary about industrial light and magic that is on Disney+. plus Now, I am looking at the website right now, and it just says, join us for a deep dive into light and magic, the critically acclaimed documentary series chronicling the legendary journey of industrial light and magic.

I swear that when I looked at this earlier, it mentioned that it was going to talk about season two, which I hadn't heard of before, that they were doing season two of Light and Magic. I sure hope that's the case and that they just kind of doctored it because they're going to quote unquote officially announce the second season.

at this event. If you have not watched Light & Magic on Disney+, plus I highly recommend it. It is really fascinating. Great stuff there. ah The more official Lucasfilm Publishing is at 2 o'clock that afternoon. They're going to be talking about books, ah prequel trilogy, era books, sequel trilogy, and beyond.

Oscar Isaac is in town. One of the things that they do here is the big stars who come in to sign autographs and make a lot of money signing autographs, they will do little panels where they interview them. So we've got Oscar Isaac on Saturday, ah on Sunday. Who did we have there? Oh, they had the Fett family. So Tamura Morrison and Daniel Logan, who both played Boba Fett at different points of their life.
