This week, the Fishes are soaking up summer — and dodging pests, parties, and Prosecco-infused botanicals along the way. Kathy’s pup Millie is back from training (and already racking up vet bills), while dodging ticks and dishing out prevention tips you actually need. Plus, the sisters swap stories about local summer fun in their cities — from honky tonks and Hollywood Bowl nights to beach trips and backyard bocce.

They also cover TV recs (spoiler: they’re split on that Tina Fey series), share their love/hate relationship with fancy cocktails, and wrap things up with a delicious dinner idea you’ll want to make tonight.

🍽️ What’s for Dinner:
Crispy Chicken Salad

Light, crunchy, and perfect for patio season. Just don’t burn the sesame seeds — Linda’s been there. Pair it with a chilled rosé or a lemon vodka slushie and you’ve got the ultimate summer dinner.

The Perfect Storm for Ticks

00:00:00
Speaker
This year, the ticks season is terrible. And they're saying it is bad because the egg corn crops are like enormous.
00:00:12
Speaker
And then they feed the mice, which then feed the deer and the warmer temperatures. It's all like the perfect storm kind of thing. But like, you know, even us up in Canada, we're going have to be careful because the ticks are going to be really bad. And ticks carry Lyme disease.
00:00:30
Speaker
Yeah. They also carry other diseases as well. Not just Lyme, which, you know, some people I think forget about that, but it's not, you know, the symptoms that you should be looking out for, like a fever, fatigue, joint pain, stuff like that, because most likely you have something.
00:00:52
Speaker
Yeah. And like for Lyme, the biggest thing too, is you might get like a bullseye rash. Yeah. like on your body. But you have to really protect yourself because Lyme is no joke.

00:01:36

So let's jump in. What's up, fishes? What's up? How are you girls?

Adventures with Wildlife

00:01:43
Speaker
I'm getting over a cold because I can't seem to travel without picking up some sort of something. hating to complain, but...
00:01:50
Speaker
I, So you all, I will tell you what's happening here. Yesterday we had a baby rabbit get into our garage. I guess they're called kits. I don't know why baby rabbits are called kits, but we had a kit in our garage and it was the cutest little kit ever.
00:02:09
Speaker
And I thought for just a minute, can you domesticate rabbits? I don't think a I don't think a wild rabbit. I think they're very delicate. i I feel like that would be a disaster waiting to happen. Did you touch it or did you get were you able to get it out of there?
00:02:26
Speaker
I did not end up having to deal with it. Tim did, and I don't think he had to touch it. And i think it was I think it eventually got out on its own. we kind of I think he kind of just coaxed it out the right way. good.
00:02:39
Speaker
So not you know it was relatively harmless. It just took a couple hours, I think, to get it out of the gar garage. Right. Oh, gosh. Our neighbor next door called us yesterday.
00:02:51
Speaker
she was standing the driveway as we were like digging our garbage out. She's like, Kathy, can you come over? and she's our neighbor that's been having some health issues. She's having trouble even, you know, walking down the driveway. So I was like concerned when she called us over.
00:03:08
Speaker
She had a deer in her backyard, which is completely fenced. And she was like, I need you to get this deer out of my yard. Can you open up this gate? I was like, a but then i actually thought, oh my gosh, you know what?
00:03:26
Speaker
We have our dog back, Millie's back. And I told Peter, let's bring Millie over there and she'll chase it out. And so we brought her over there and she did.
00:03:36
Speaker
Oh, good. And the deer found like some like hole through the fence and the deer like went away. I was just going to say, how did the deer get in in the first place? Well, that but yeah, there was just like a little opening in the back of her fence area. But I guess this happened to her like a couple of years ago. And she said that the deer tried to get out and got stuck on the fence and the police had to come and shoot it.
00:04:03
Speaker
Cause it was like suffering. So she was like, I do not want this to happen again. and I'm like, right I don't want that either. i mean, oh that's terrible.
00:04:13
Speaker
Anyway, really Billy got to like chase a deer and she was happy. Millie had the time of her life. That's what I'm hearing.

Millie's Return and Reacclimation

00:04:22
Speaker
So Millie, for people who don't know, is your dog that has been gone for like six months. Three months. eighty like Three months.
00:04:31
Speaker
Oh, I apologize. Three months for like super duper training. I think it's more like five. So I feel like- How is, how is she? Is she like a super dog now? Is she super Millie?
00:04:42
Speaker
is that what we're going to call her? Super Millie? Well, only if she acts like that.
00:04:49
Speaker
You know what? All I remember is she's hyper. She's, she literally, I thought she'd come back like more chill, but she's, I'm like, whoa, I forgot what it's like to have a dog around.
00:05:01
Speaker
yeah So we're like adjusting to each other again.
00:05:07
Speaker
But she's good. She's sweet. yeah She just needs to like have her energy out. That's the thing. Well, she's young. She's a puppy still. She's a black lab puppy. They're energetic. She's a year. So she's definitely got the energy bug.
00:05:24
Speaker
A couple more years and then she'll be chill. Well, I'm glad that she's back. Welcome home, Millie. Okay, let's jump in What are we watching?

TV Shows Reviewed and Discussed

00:05:33
Speaker
so I have to say, when I was in Nashville for Jack's graduation...
00:05:40
Speaker
Linda and my niece, Sarah, were watching this um series on Netflix called Sirens. And I had fallen asleep. And then I woke up and it was like a sex scene or something.
00:05:52
Speaker
was like, what are you guys watching? like But it has um Kevin Bacon in it and Julianne Moore. And her is it Megan Vanny is her name?
00:06:05
Speaker
Mm-hmm. But... I was kind of intrigued by it. And so I started watching it since I've been home and I actually kind of liked it. and The ending is surprising. It's like a little bit of a thriller.
00:06:18
Speaker
um Yeah. yeah and You're trying to figure out like the characters motivations and stuff like that. And, It's set on the seacoast. So, yeah and it's called Sirens and it has a very female dominated cast.
00:06:36
Speaker
So, I mean, I thought it was kind of clever. And it has a surprise at the end, which I thought was a surprise. That Megan Fanny, she is funny in that.
00:06:46
Speaker
Don't you think she's good in that, Linda? Who? Megan Fanny that plays Devin. Like she's always like, A wild hair, right?
00:06:58
Speaker
She is. I like the security guard. Oh, he's always catching her her So Megan's always trying to get on this property and he like catches her and he's like, what are you doing? Like, you're not supposed to be here.
00:07:11
Speaker
like He's so like tolerant of all the nonsense. There's a lot of nonsense that goes on. Yeah. Yeah. yeah It's good. I mean, if you'd like a like an emotional, intellectual thriller, and it's not scary. It's just kind of like a ah who's good, who's bad. I can't quite figure out the motivation. you know yeah You just don't really know what's going to happen.
00:07:35
Speaker
That's good. I enjoyed it. All right. I'm going to to check it out. I'll tell you what I did not enjoy that I watched, and I can't believe I watched it from the beginning to the end, was um the Netflix series um Four Seasons with... ah Oh, shoot. Who did it?
00:07:54
Speaker
um Tina Fey. Tina's Fey series, The Four Seasons on Netflix. I thought it was depressing. And I'm like, this has to get better.
00:08:04
Speaker
This has to get funny. It did not get better, in my opinion. And it was not funny. You guys see it? I did. i did watch it. So it's a remake of an old Alan Alda ah movie with Carol Burnett, same concept, like three couples that have been friends forever. And of course, the dynamics of the couples change for one reason or another. And they're trying to like make sense of it all.
00:08:34
Speaker
I mean, it felt very like authentic and that made me uncomfortable at times. i didn't I didn't eat it. I thought, you know, i thought it was well done.
00:08:47
Speaker
i thought it was a little depressed. Like, it's a little bit of a downer. But, I mean, it's life. Life is depressing sometimes. And, you know, divorce happens and affairs happen. And I can't imagine having two other couple friends that I want to go on vacation with every single year for 25 years.
00:09:09
Speaker
I've never done that. But yeah, I mean, i thought it was I thought it was okay. It was good. I mean, do I want to rewatch it? No. But I did happen to see the original on TV recently, and I did tune in a little bit. And Alan Alda is the original writer, and he does like a little cameo in this new series.
00:09:35
Speaker
And he's just like and an incredible writer. he's He's just like a force. Yeah. Kathy, did you see it? So Linda and I are split. She liked it. I didn't. What'd you think?
00:09:46
Speaker
I've only, I never finished the series. I think I started it and then I kind of felt like it was too much of a downer for me. ah When the wife is like showing up at the places where these guys, you know, they're at and she's like by herself. I'm like, oh, that is so sad.
00:10:05
Speaker
Well, after you're describing sirens and the sexy scenes, like, yeah, that's no siren. So like I can understand him why you shut it off. The other um show I've been watching that we finished that Tim and I watched together that I thought was super good.
00:10:20
Speaker
What was it called? um Your Friends and Neighbors with Jon Hamm on Apple Watch. haven't seen that. It's so good. It's so good. going have to watch that.
00:10:31
Speaker
I'm going to write this down. Jon Hamm is like a divorce guy He was a hedge fund manager. He like lost his job and he ends up becoming like a thief to kind of keep up his lifestyle. And it takes all these like twists and turns.
00:10:46
Speaker
Interesting. We thought it was really good. So that's it. Yeah. Okay. All right. yeah and okay all right um And then the other little thing that I did watch that I thought was actually pretty good, The Man Inside, or A Man Inside with Ted Danson.
00:11:02
Speaker
Have you guys seen that? No. Yes. he's so I actually watched that a little while ago. yeah Like he's a widower.

Summer Activities Across Cities

00:11:11
Speaker
He's like a professor and he goes inside um to go undercover work.
00:11:17
Speaker
Yeah, I did actually watch that. I thought that our parents would love that. i hope I hope they watched it. And it's coming out and I'm mentioning it because the it's in production and I think it's getting released soon for season two.
00:11:31
Speaker
So it's pretty good. So if you're looking for some summer stuff, um check out some of our suggestions. It looks like we're split on the four seasons. So check it out. I'd love to hear what, if anybody else watched it and what their opinion about it was.
00:11:49
Speaker
All right, let's move on to Summer Fun. And we started thinking about like summer fun. And I particularly were singing about summer fun in our own cities because we all live in different cities. I live in Los Angeles.
00:12:06
Speaker
Kathy lives in Philadelphia. Linda lives in Nashville. So summer fun looks different of like things that we can do that's different in our cities. So what's summer fun look like in your cities?
00:12:19
Speaker
Like what's it look like for you guys? Well, here it's really warm. And so we're outside a lot, like over the weekend. We actually did do a summer fun thing. We went to...
00:12:32
Speaker
Um, we went downtown and we hit kind of a few of the honky tonks with some friends that were in town. Oh, fun. And then we went to the gulch. So Nashville has like neighborhoods, kind of like New York and Chicago and all the neighborhoods have names.
00:12:50
Speaker
So there's this area called the gulch. And so we went to a place called Ophelia's and had pizza. And then we went out to the honky tonks for a while.
00:13:03
Speaker
So that was, and that's a, you know, when people come to town, that's something that people always want to do Go and check out all the bars and listen to live music. And you could do it easily here because there's no cover charge.
00:13:17
Speaker
So you can go from place to place and you can saturate yourself with a lot of music and dancing and people watching and all that stuff. That's cool. I'm surprised that there's no cover charge. Yeah, it's really that's amazing.
00:13:31
Speaker
I mean, it is very economical. um And then I also last week, because we've had such great weather, I went hiking with our oldest.
00:13:45
Speaker
And there's a couple of huge parks in the area. And they're like 15 minutes from my house. So Percy Warner Park is ginormous. And then I ended up going to a polo match with some friends and And he's a big hiker. and And he was like, what trail did you go on? And I said, red. And he was like, did you see the waterfall? And I was like, I did. And so there's a bunch, there's several big parks, but I i like Percy Warner and I like Radnor, which has a big lake and you can kind of walk around that pretty easily. So.
00:14:18
Speaker
Outdoor activities. That's really what it's about for summer for me is being outside and eating outside and hiking and swimming and just enjoying nature.
00:14:30
Speaker
Can you swim at that lake? No, it's a, no, it's a state park and you cannot swim in it. I don't think you'd want to swim in it. Plus it's a preserve. Like there's bald eagles that are nesting there and gray herons that are nesting there and they like to keep it You know, pretty pristine for all the wildlife. So, I mean, there's places, lakes you can't swim in, but those are not.
00:14:58
Speaker
Those two, you can't. Yeah. You know, the other thing on Broadway that you can do is Luke Combs has a place down there and it's called category 10 and a couple of days a week, he has free line dancing.
00:15:14
Speaker
So you can learn to line dance or if you are practically professional, you can go and just like have a big time. So that sounds so fun.
00:15:25
Speaker
website i know it's fun. So, you know, um I've been on the graduation circuit with Trevor, this partying like all the time. and one his yeah Can I just interrupt you really quickly? i have never seen parties like this before in my life. Like I did not even know that graduation parties like this existed that went on one after another, after another. It's like a chain gang of parties. And that the parents go to. Yeah. We haven't. heard pun But I don't go to them. Yeah. We have another one this afternoon. know. I know. yeah That's amazing. It's crazy.
00:16:00
Speaker
Yeah. But one of the parties he that Trevor went to, um that Peter actually went to as well, I wasn't able to go. um They actually had ah line dancing instructor.
00:16:15
Speaker
They had a dance floor and they taught these kids how to line dance. So when Trevor and his girlfriend came home, they were showing us in the kitchen. It was really cute. It's such a fun thing to do. It's like communal. It doesn't matter if you're good or not. It's just like, you know, just a fun thing. think i would mess up and like I'd run into the person next to me or something.
00:16:35
Speaker
I don't think so. You're very coordinated. ah wow You know what? Just put your cowgirl boots on and just look the part. It will be fine. You just fake your way. It's until you make it.
00:16:45
Speaker
That's exactly right. I don't have any boots. Girl, we got to change that. I'm sorry. Because Grayson has like these, how many boots does he have? I saw at least one pair. i so He has you two pairs.
00:16:58
Speaker
Yeah. Line dancing. Come to Nashville. Learn to line dance. I want to do it next time I come. Next time we're going to do it. What about you, Kathy? What, what's fun? What's fun things to do in Philadelphia? Like what's your summer fun there look like? The beach. Like everybody in this area goes to the beach in the summer.
00:17:18
Speaker
they go down the shore new jersey They go to the shore in New Jersey or like down to Delaware. Um, and it's like people, it's like a ghost town here in the summer. People are either at the shore, you know, or they're somewhere we're golfing or whatever, but a lot of people go the shore.
00:17:37
Speaker
So yeah i would say that's a huge thing about the East coast. Um, and then I was asking, um my sister-in-law, like what her summer fun was just because everybody's different and they live in Minnesota. And she was saying that they actually do a bucket list in the summer and they list things that they've never done before.
00:18:01
Speaker
So she was like, we've never gone to this water park. So we're going to do that next week. And we've never gone on a hike to this other park. And I thought that that was kind of cool that they actually make a list and have an agenda.
00:18:16
Speaker
I think i'm more but I'm more fly by the seat of my pants person. I like being loosey-goosey, but um I just love summer. It's my favorite time of year.
00:18:28
Speaker
You know know what I was thinking about too? but I was just thinking, Nancy, one thing. i was thinking about a hula hoop because I always remember mom can do the hula hoop.
00:18:41
Speaker
Like she's really good at it. Our mom could do the hula hoop? Yeah. Yeah. You can. You've never seen her do it? No. Dad can do it too. Yeah. but I think the hula hoop's fun.
00:18:56
Speaker
And then my husband, he used to always play bocce in the summer. And we do play bocce when we go up to Canada. So I think bocce is my summer thing too. Bocce ball is fun. You guys know that song, bocce ball? Yeah.
00:19:09
Speaker
The song? There's a song, Batchy Ball. Kathy, do you ever in Philadelphia, do you guys ever go down to like the museums in the summer or there's ah ah go see the Liberty Bell or the sort like deals for people that live in the city like that live in Philadelphia that can go tour that stuff with the summer deal?
00:19:29
Speaker
No, because the kids do that during the school year. they yeah you know They go on all these school trips. Yeah. you know, Valley Forge, they go see the Liberty Bell.
00:19:40
Speaker
They're like, mom, we don't need history in the summer. ah yes yeah I get it. I mean, I, I think it's kind of cool, but no. I enjoy when I visit going downtown and seeing everything. Cause I don't live there. Yeah. Yeah.
00:19:54
Speaker
I think next time you guys come, we'll have to do a formal, we'll have to do some kind of tour. Yeah. I think the next time I come, I'm going to bring my kids. particularly Johanna, because she was so little the last time we did that, that she doesn't remember like the Liberty Bell.
00:20:12
Speaker
um And I think that'd be neat for her to see. We just watched, we had movie night last night and we just watched for the first time National Treasure. oh yeah. She really liked it. one And you know, they talk about the Liberty Bell. So um yeah, that's a great one. But anyway, for us- for What else is your summer fun?
00:20:31
Speaker
For us, for our summer fun? Well, I think about- um There's a lot of cool things to do here in Los Angeles, and we like to be outside a lot, um and we love music. So the LACMA, which is the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, has kids get in for free until they're 17. And if they bring in adult, that adult gets in for free if you live in Los Angeles, which I think is such a cool thing for people who live here to be able to use the museum. Yeah.
00:21:02
Speaker
you can go down really whenever you want and stay however you want. But in the summer, um LACMA has chazz in jazz in their lawn. And you can bring a picnic and listen to music for free. And it's really cool. And we like to do that.
00:21:18
Speaker
We like to sink down there and do that on Friday night sometimes. um What else do we like to do? We love the beach. My kids, and I love it too. So does Tim.
00:21:30
Speaker
And we go up to Point Doom in Malibu. I think you've heard me talk about It's a beautiful beach. And if you ever get a chance to go, the Hollywood Bowl, if you love music and shows, it's such a cool thing to do.
00:21:46
Speaker
place a special. That's like Scream Summer for us. and That is a fun venue. And then just like a couple other things that we love to do too is like the um Long Beach Aquarium is amazing. If you ever get a chance to go, that's that's a fun day trip.
00:22:03
Speaker
And the Santa Monica Pier is a fun thing to explore and get ice cream and see all the sights. You can, you know, it's very little money to go and explore all these places.
00:22:14
Speaker
Right. So that's what summer is to me. I'm just like getting out of our normal, like, you know, square and just going and exploring all the fun here in Los Angeles. Yeah. There's lots of museums.
00:22:26
Speaker
Sounds fun to me. Yeah. I mean, you know what else I love in the summer? It's just anytime I get to eat outside on a patio, know, I'm always looking for the restaurant that has the outside patio. We have one right by our house that I love. It's an old mansion, Southern mansion.
00:22:43
Speaker
Sit out there with the lights and just like have an appetizer and a cocktail and just relax. I just think, yeah you know, alfresco dining screams summer to me.
00:22:55
Speaker
Um, yeah. So, I mean, outdoor is the theme, I think. Yeah. ah Agreed. But just don't forget your sunblock and your big hat. Yes. All right, y'all. Let's move on to um our next topic.
00:23:10
Speaker
Let's jump into pets and summer. And we started thinking about pets in summer because Kathy got her dog, Millie, back from her epic training.
00:23:23
Speaker
And Kathy, you ended up at the vet with Millie. um Why did you end up at the vet with Millie? Okay. So she had been gone for three months and it was due to have her annual exam.
00:23:39
Speaker
its did It did feel like six months, but I'll take your word for it that it's three.
00:23:47
Speaker
was three, Nancy. um So, I mean- She's not the James Bond of like hunting dogs. I mean, she's, you know, she's good.
00:23:59
Speaker
I'm expecting of tricks the next time I see her. Yeah. Go over. Roll over. Bring me my slippers. Where's my drink?
00:24:10
Speaker
How about sitting is good.
00:24:14
Speaker
No, she had to have her annual exam and it was like a fortune. i was like, what the heck? Why is this bill like so much money? i mean, she had a million fifty vaccines. I'm I'm surprised to hear that because a while back we talked about pet insurance and you looked into it and I think you actually bought pet insurance. So why was your vet bill so much?
00:24:36
Speaker
Well, we do pet insurance. yeah Is it a scam? Well, I actually think it might be. i mean, I... No, I don't know. We have healthy paws, but the problem with pet insurance is it's only covers emergencies.
00:24:52
Speaker
It does not cover a healthy dog. So if you have a dog, I mean, our dog's only a year old, so there's nothing wrong with her yet. So they don't cover anything. like She's expensive. I mean, that that bill was unbelievable.
00:25:07
Speaker
I was like, what the heck? They're like, well, she got her be her rabies, but we only gave her the puppy one. Now she needs the adult one. I'm like, what?
00:25:19
Speaker
Now, did you do the three-year one? Yes. Cause that one's so expensive. i mean, it's like, she's got it all now. I mean, Canada better let us in with her.
00:25:31
Speaker
i mean, Holy cow. but I don't know. that can' yeah Canadians might not want us, but that's a whole other topic. Right now. I just, I think for, you know, the big thing with the dog is, and in fact, I was kind of reminded this about from my friend, Donna heard,
00:25:51
Speaker
she's been taking her dog on a lot of walks and she lives like about 30 minutes from me in Chestnut Hill, but she walks her dogs, you know, where it's not heavily forested, but the grass is a little taller. And she said the ticks have been really bad.
00:26:06
Speaker
And I was like, Oh, you know, yeah you have to protect your dog against ticks and fleas and like roundworm and stuff like that, which we do.
00:26:17
Speaker
We give our dogs some Parik a trio, which treats for all that. But I was kind of looking at it up because she said the ticks are so bad this year. And I was like, really? So I did, I did some research on this, you guys.
00:26:29
Speaker
And for sure this year, the ticks season is terrible. And they're saying it is bad because the egg corn crops are like enormous.
00:26:45
Speaker
And then they feed the mice which then feed the deer and the warmer temperatures, it's all like the perfect storm kind of thing. But like, you know, even us up in Canada, we're going have to be careful because the ticks are going to be really bad and ticks carry Lyme disease.
00:27:03
Speaker
Yeah. They also carry other diseases as well, not just Lyme, which, you know, some people I think forget about that, but it's not, you know,
00:27:15

the symptoms that you should be looking out for, like a fever, fatigue, joint pain, stuff like that, because most likely you have something. Um, and like for Lyme, the biggest thing too, is you might get like a bullseye rash, like on your body, but you have to really protect yourself because Lyme is no joke.
00:27:38
Speaker
Right. Because didn't we have a neighbor that got Lyme that was like undiagnosed and she's like blind now.

Preventing and Testing for Tick-borne Diseases

00:27:44
Speaker
Like it's really, it's very severe. It can be catastrophic for people and for your pets.
00:27:51
Speaker
ah So, yeah. I mean, I do think when you go to your vet, you have to talk to them about prevention. There's medication they can take that helps so that the ticks don't like, they can bite them, but they don't like, some there's some sort of like,
00:28:11
Speaker
barrier that happens so that they don't necessarily get Lyme's disease. And then when you take your dogs for a walk, you got to make sure you look and check because don think they say it's like the tick has to be attached for like 24 hours or something. Correct. Correct. Really like cause the Lyme.
00:28:31
Speaker
But it's funny because- It's like when you have really fur, I mean, my dogs have long fur. So it's sometimes it's hard to even see that there's a tick in there. I mean, you have to be really vigilant.
00:28:41
Speaker
Like we used to joke with our dad about being a kid because he'd be like, everyone do a tick check. And Peter was like, a tick check? What is this? He's like, I kind of like this.
00:28:54
Speaker
You know, but it's true. Like you have to really- check yourself and make sure they're not hiding because they're teeny tiny. They're tiny. I'm surprised that you got this information from your friend, Donna, and not the vet. I'm surprised your vet didn't say, listen, this year the ticks and fleas are really bad.
00:29:14
Speaker
No, she didn't say anything about it. But yeah, my friend did. And I was like, oh, but you know, I mean, the biggest thing want to just say about the ticks is if you do have a tick on you, you need to pull them out, like with the tweezers straight out and clean it with alcohol.
00:29:30
Speaker
And like, um,
00:29:34
Speaker
You can actually, doing research with this, you can actually get ticks checked. I don't know if you guys even know this, but there are places in the country, like in Pennsylvania, there's a tick lab where you can actually send your tick in and see if it has any of these diseases.
00:29:54
Speaker
And in Pennsylvania, for them to do just like a basic panel is free. If you live out of state, it's like $50. But and i then I checked because I was curious. I'm like, what the heck? I've never sent a tick in to get checked.
00:30:09
Speaker
I haven't either. I had no idea. I looked at other states. Other states have the same thing. And then like, obviously your urgent cares have them as well.
00:30:20
Speaker
But I posted it on our site. there You can send it to PA if you're out of state. It's like $50. And there's a place in New York that does the same thing.
00:30:32
Speaker
But if you're concerned about it, there is a place that you can get them checked. But it's not, you know. yeah That's kind of cool. I did not know this, and I thought it was pretty interesting.
00:30:44
Speaker
the The biggest thing is like a third of ticks will carry disease. i mean, you know, that's a pretty big number as far as I'm concerned. So you just want to like prevent from getting a tick in the first place. So yeah like the biggest thing is you apply repellent on yourself and your clothing and where if you're going on a hike, wear long pants and socks like over your pant leg to make sure. And then of course, do the tick check.
00:31:16
Speaker
Do the tick check. It's worth it. And they say you also should bathe. Like after you you know go on a hike, you need to wash your clothes in hot water and dry you know dry them in high heat because it kills the ticks and wash your body.
00:31:33
Speaker
Yeah. That's my tick. Good tips. My tick tips. Keep your kiddos safe, yourself safe.
00:31:44
Speaker
Do those tick checks. And wear your hats. Wear your Yeah, and wear our hats for sure. I mean, you got to wear a hat outside anyway. All right, y'all. What's for dinner?
00:31:55
Speaker
I have a very yummy, it's called a crispy chicken salad recipe. It's super delicious and it's easy to make. It's like with shredded cabbage and I use organic cabbage.
00:32:09
Speaker
I try and use organic as much as I can. Um, but we posted it in the notes. It's quite light. It's perfect for those like patio dinners that you're having.
00:32:21
Speaker
It even like pairs well with the cookout. If you're like having burgers, you could have this chicken salad with it or whatever. Yeah. It's like an Asian chicken salad you're talking about, right? Right, right, right. Yeah.
00:32:33
Speaker
With that sweet dressing. It has ramen noodles. The only tip I will say is because i've done I have done this, you can't over toast the seeds.
00:32:45
Speaker
Don't over toast the sesame seeds and the almonds because you can burn them and then that's no good.
00:32:53
Speaker
You heard it here. Do not burn your seeds. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. What you think? Oh, I'm just going to throw it in there. it only takes like ah couple, you know, a couple of minutes. It takes no time at all to toast seeds and nuts.
00:33:06
Speaker
ah You're right. In a dry pan. It takes no time. It sounds really good and light. I'm into light. I love this idea. going to make it easy. So what are we going to pair with it? I'm also into like a, like a summer cocktail. Yeah.
00:33:19
Speaker
So do we have a summer cocktail that we like to pick that we like to pair it with? I love in the summer, like a cold rosé, white wine. We actually were in our pool on Friday, on Father's Day, I mean, and I did vodka lemonade slushies.
00:33:38
Speaker
oh that sounds good. You could actually do it without slushing it and putting it in the blender. It's an extra step. But like, I'm all about the light, you know, crisp. treat Yeah, that sounds good.
00:33:53
Speaker
Sounds great. I feel like nowadays there's a lot of like... um botanically infused cocktails out there, recipes out there. But I don't love like a lot of botanicals in my drinks. I like it to be nice.
00:34:08
Speaker
I'm with you. don't want to drink a flower. like yeah i feel like I have a good but good palate, but I do not want to drink a flower. No thanks. I know. There's so many like elderberry. Lavender is so hot right now. And I i just don't enjoy it. I just want my family.
00:34:27
Speaker
Yeah, no. I'm with you, Lance. I don't want to drink a flower either. guess. like give me little vodka and like cranberry or a little bit of pineapple juice or lemonade. I'm all about it. Yeah. Throw a little bit of Prosecco in there too. wo yeah All about it. You had me at Prosecco.
00:34:50
Speaker
